Staying put in Minneapolis
The Vikings re-signed Brandel on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Brandel, a 2020 sixth-round pick by Minnesota, is now set to remain with the team for the time being following Friday's transaction. The 315-pounder offers position versatility, as he's taken reps at tackle, at center and as a "bonus tight end" within the last year.

Returning from IR
Minnesota activated Brandel (knee) from its injured reserve list Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus the Giants.
ANALYSIS
After being inactive for the final four games of the regular season, Brandel appears poised to suit up for the Vikings' wild-card matchup. The 2020 sixth-rounder should start at right tackle across from a talented Giants pass-rushing unit.

Designated to return from IR
Minnesota designated Brandel (knee) to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Brandel missed the final four games of the regular season due to a knee injury, but head coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that the offensive lineman is 100 percent and should be activated ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Giants, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. However, Brandel will presumably be tested during practices Wednesday through Friday before Minnesota clears him for game action.

Heads to IR
The Vikings placed Brandel on injured reserve with a torn MCL on Wednesday, Tyler Forness of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Brandel was forced out with a knee injury Week 14 against Detroit, and a subsequent MRI revealed this be a torn MCL, according to Carmen Vitali of Fox Sports. While his timeline for a return is still unknown, the 25-year-old will be forced to sit out at least the final four games of the regular season while on IR. In his stead, Christian Darrisaw should reprise his starting role at left tackle after sitting out the last three games with a concussion.

Headed for MRI
Brandel suffered a knee injury late in Sunday's loss to the Lions and will need an MRI, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Brandel started the game at left tackle in place of Christian Darrisaw (concussion). The MRI results should shed a better light on his potential availably for Saturday against the Colts. If he is unable to play 15, Darrisaw, who has already cleared concussion protocols, should be ready to reclaim his starting left tackle job.

Bumped up from practice squad
Brandel was signed to the active roster Monday.
ANALYSIS
Brandel, a 2020 sixth round selection of the Vikings, was previously active in Week 1 and 2, but besides two snaps on offense, was mostly used on special teams. With the Vikings going into a bye week, he'll look to suit up against the Cowboys in Week 8.

Waived by Minnesota
The Vikings waived Brandel on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Brandel was active for the first two games of the season, but he didn't record a snap. The 24-year-old will look for a fresh start after being drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In a corresponding move, Minnesota elevated Dakota Dozier to their active roster.

Cleared for action
Brandel has been activated off the Vikings reserve/COVID-19 list, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2020 sixth-rounder will now look to secure a depth role along the Vikings' offensive line. The Oregon State product played tackle in college, but could also see work as a guard as a pro.

Placed on COVID-19 list
Brandel was placed on the Vikings' Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
The offensive tackle was one of four Minnesota players placed on the list. His placement there doesn't necessarily indicate that he has COVID-19, with the team's announcement noting that the list "was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons." The Vikings selected Brandel with the No. 203 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
