Keeps Denver in win column
Nix completed 24 of 37 passes for 295 yards without a touchdown or an interception in Sunday's 22-19 win over Kansas City. He added eight rushing yards on three carries.
ANALYSIS
It was the first time all season Nix had failed to produce a TD, but his 295 passing yards were his highest total since Week 4, and the second-year QB came through when it mattered most, hitting Troy Franklin for a 32-yard gain inside the final minute of the fourth quarter to set up Wil Lutz's game-winning FG. Nix will head into the Broncos' Week 12 bye riding an eight-game win streak that has them firmly in control of the AFC West, two games ahead of the Chargers and four wins clear of KC.
Nov 6, 2025
Ragged showing in Week 10 win
Nix completed 16 of 28 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while rushing five times for minus-2 yards in the Broncos' 10-7 win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Nix's final line wasn't aesthetically pleasing by any stretch, but the second-year signal-caller did just enough to help his team to its eighth victory in 10 games. Nix connected with Troy Franklin on a tight-window seven-yard touchdown pass late in the first half to erase an early 7-0 deficit, and his second interception, which could have had disastrous consequences, also came on a pass intended for Franklin that bounced off the receiver's hands at the Broncos' 45-yard line just after the halfway point of the fourth quarter. Daniel Carlson would go on to miss a game-tying field goal on the Raiders' ensuing possession, and Nix subsequently led a 10-play, 47-yard drive that allowed Denver to run out the clock. Nix has just a 4:4 TD:INT over his last three games, and he'll have a tougher matchup on tap on Sunday, Nov. 16 when the Broncos host the Chiefs in a Week 11 divisional showdown.
Nov 2, 2025
More comeback magic in Week 9
Nix completed 18 of 37 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Texans. He added 36 rushing yards on three carries.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos didn't score their first points until late in the second quarter against a tough Houston defense, on Nix's 30-yard toss to Courtland Sutton, and they trailed 15-7 heading into the fourth, but the second-year QB found a way to get it done in the clutch yet again. After finding RJ Harvey for a 27-yard TD early in the final frame and adding a two-point conversion to Troy Franklin, Nix set up the game-winning field goal with his legs on runs of 25 and nine yards in the final minute of the game. Nix will take a 17:6 TD:INT through nine starts into a Week 10 clash with the Raiders.
Oct 26, 2025
Another four-score game Sunday
Nix completed 19 of 29 pass attempts for 247 yards, four touchdowns and one interception while losing one yard on his only carry in Sunday's 44-24 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Nix produced four scores for fantasy managers in consecutive appearances, using his arm for all four trips to the end zone against a depleted Dallas secondary this time around. The sophomore signal-caller leaned on his younger receiving options Sunday, dialing up second-year wideout Troy Franklin in the end zone twice and rookies Pat Bryant and RJ Harvey once each. Nix is proving his standout rookie campaign was no fluke, checking in with 1,803 passing yards and 15 touchdowns to five interceptions as we pass the midpoint of the regular season. The 25-year-old will have to keep his hot streak alive against Houston's stingy defense next Sunday.
Oct 19, 2025
Accounts for four TDs in win
Nix completed 27 of 50 pass attempts for 279 yards and two touchdowns while adding five carries for 48 yards and two more scores in Sunday's 33-32 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Nix bounced back with a monstrous four-score game following a couple weeks of pedestrian stat lines. The 25-year-old fired off a season-high 50 pass attempts in the thrilling comeback victory, but it was his rushing production (5-48-2) that truly made his fantasy score stand out in Week 7. Nix had scored just one rushing touchdown while averaging 20.7 rushing yards over his previous six starts, so managers shouldn't expect gaudy rushing totals on a regular basis. That said, we could be in store for another strong fantasy performance from Nix next Sunday against the Cowboys' 32nd-ranked pass defense.
Oct 12, 2025
Mild output in overseas win
Nix completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 174 yards and a touchdown while adding 24 rushing yards on five attempts in Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Nix played the role of game manager for Denver in a gritty defensive victory overseas in London, UK. The 25-year-old did not complete a pass for the entirety of the third quarter, which helped contribute to his second lowest yardage output as a passer this season. On the bright side, Nix was involved in the only touchdown scored for either side Sunday, delivering a 16-yard strike to TE Nate Adkins in the first quarter. With nine touchdowns thrown to four interceptions through six starts, Nix checks in as a middling fantasy option in Week 7 when the Broncos host the Giants next Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Helps lead road upset Sunday
Nix completed 24 of 39 passes for 242 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while adding three rushes for 22 yards in the Broncos' 21-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.
ANALYSIS
Nix had his fair share of struggles against the Eagles' talented defense, but he helped lead Denver back from a 17-3 second-half deficit. Nix led a trio of fourth-quarter scoring drives, capping one of them with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Evan Engram and following it up with a two-point conversion toss to Troy Franklin. Nix has at least one touchdown pass in every game thus far this season and has posted his two highest passing yardage totals of the campaign in the last pair of contests heading into a Week 6 trip across the pond to face the Jets in London.
Sep 29, 2025
Throws for 326 yards in MNF win
Nix completed 29 of 42 pass attempts for 326 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while rushing six times for seven yards and a third score in Monday's 28-3 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Nix took full advantage of a cushy matchup and cracked the 300-yard mark in passing for the first time this season. The athletic signal-caller also punched in his first rushing touchdown of the year on a six-yard scamper in the first quarter that wound up being the game-winning score. While this was easily Nix's best performance to date in 2025, fantasy managers may want to keep expectations in check for a road tilt against a far-more talented Philadelphia defense in Week 5.
Sep 21, 2025
Low volume passing day
Nix completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown while rushing eight times for 33 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Nix didn't perform particularly poorly, rather falling victim to a dominating ball control performance from the Chargers (-12:40 in time of possession Sunday). The dual-threat quarterback recorded his highest rushing total in the loss while committing no turnovers for the first time in three starts. Nix will attempt to put it all together in a very favorable matchup against the Bengals next Monday.
Sep 14, 2025
Falters in second half
Nix completed 22 of 30 passes for 206 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts. He added three rushes for 20 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix and the Broncos' offense began the game in exceptional form, as he threw for three touchdowns in the team's first four offensive possessions. His most impressive was a 23-yard dart to the back corner of the end zone to Marvin Mims, and Nix also connected with Troy Franklin for a 42-yard gain early in the second quarter. Things changed in the second half, however, as his explosive plays were eliminated, and he also threw a key interception early in the fourth quarter to aid the Colts' comeback efforts. Nix's fantasy performance was solid, but he now has three interceptions and a fumble lost in the first two games of the new campaign.
Sep 7, 2025
Shaky in Week 1
Nix completed 25 of 40 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans. He added eight rushes for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix entered 2025 with high expectations after closing the 2024 season with multiple passing touchdowns in seven of his last eight regular-season games. He couldn't carry that momentum into a home matchup against a Titans' defense that is projected to be below-average, as he averaged only 4.4 yards per attempt while throwing a pair of picks on ill-advised throws. Nix did manage a 22-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton just before halftime, but this wasn't the start he hoped for to begin his sophomore campaign.
Aug 23, 2025
Impressive in extended showing
Nix completed 10 of 14 passes for 110 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions during the Broncos' 28-19 preseason win over the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Sean Payton had announced earlier in the week that the plan was to have Nix and the offensive starters in for just 8-10 plays, but the second-year quarterback and his teammates ended up on the field for three drives after the first possession went for just three plays and lost two yards. Nix was better on an 11-play, 39-yard march that culminated in a field goal during Denver's second possession, and he wrapped up his afternoon with a 77-yard drive in which he hit No. 1 receiver Courtland Sutton for 43 and 19 yards, the latter completion a touchdown down the left side of the field. Nix saw action in two preseason games overall during which he put up 25 attempts, seemingly affording him enough work to prepare him for a potential breakout second season that begins with a Week 1 home matchup against the Titans on Sept. 7.
Aug 21, 2025
To play 8-10 snaps Saturday
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Nix and the starters will play 8-10 snaps in Saturday's preseason finale against the Saints, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton is simply confirming the plan he'd previously set out for Denver's preseason finale. Nix played early into the second quarter of the Broncos' preseason opener then sat out the team's second exhibition matchup. He'll get a chance to play one or two drives Saturday with a wide receiver corps that saw Devaughn Vele depart for New Orleans via trade Wednesday, leading to Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant and Trent Sherfield climbing the depth chart.
Aug 14, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Nix and the majority of starters won't play during Saturday's preseason game against the Cardinals, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton also said that Nix and the starters would play somewhere in the range of 8-10 snaps during Denver's preseason finale against New Orleans on Saturday, Aug. 23. The second-year signal-caller completed six of 11 passes for 31 yards during the Broncos' preseason opener against the 49ers, and it sounds like he'll get a chance to handle one more drive during the team's exhibition finale. Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger will split reps versus Arizona, with Nix watching from the sidelines.
Aug 10, 2025
Quiet start to preseason
Nix completed six of 11 passes for 31 yards in the Broncos' 30-9 preseason win over the 49ers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Nix averaged a meager 2.8 yards per attempt but certainly got his reps in during Denver's exhibition opener. The second-year signal-caller spread the ball around during his time in the contest, connecting with Troy Franklin, J.K. Dobbins, Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims and RJ Harvey, albeit with none of those completions going for longer than nine yards. Nix ended up playing into early in the second quarter, but given the middling results for the first-team offense, he's likely in for another solid allotment of playing time in the Broncos' second preseason contest next Saturday night at home against the Cardinals.

Healthy after offseason surgery
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine that Nix has already resumed working out at team facilities without limitations after having undergone a procedure earlier this offseason, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Nix's offseason surgery was unrelated to the back injury he dealt with during the 2024 season, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. As a rookie, the 2024 first-round pick impressed, completing 376 of 567 pass attempts (66 percent) for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while rushing 92 times for 430 yards and four touchdowns. Nix's impressive production on the ground helped bolster him into high-production territory for fantasy purposes, setting the stage for a potential step forward Year 2 as he grows more adept at commanding Payton's offense. The minor procedure Nix underwent after Denver's season ended caused him to miss the Pro Bowl, but he's already resumed working out without limitations and seems fully on track for the start of OTAs.
Jan 12, 2025
Held in check in wild-card loss
Nix completed 13 of 22 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown and added a team-high 43 rushing yards on four carries in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The rookie quarterback came out of the gates firing, connecting with Troy Franklin on a 43-yard TD on Denver's first possession, but the game was dominated by Buffalo after that. Nix wrapped up a successful first pro season with 3,775 passing yards, a 66.3 percent completion rate and a 29:12 TD:INT over 17 regular-season appearances, while also contributing 430 rushing yards and four more scores on the ground. The Broncos appear to have found their new franchise QB with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 Draft, and with Courtland Sutton, Franklin and Marvin Mims forming a intriguing trio of wideouts all under contract for 2025, Nix's numbers figure to improve as he grows more familiar with Sean Payton's offense.
Jan 5, 2025
Leads Denver to postseason
Nix completed 26 of 29 passes for 321 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 38-0 win over the Chiefs. He added seven rushes for 47 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix benefitted from the Chiefs resting a number of key players on defense, but he still had an impressive showing to clinch a playoff spot for Denver. He completed his first 17 passes spanning well into the second quarter, highlighted by three long gains of 47, 32 and 32 yards as well as three of his four touchdowns. Nix will now lead the Broncos into a tough first-round playoff matchup in Buffalo, but he has at least three touchdowns in three of his last four games to close out the regular season of his rookie campaign.
Dec 28, 2024
Impressive Week 17 showing
Nix completed 24 of 31 passes for 219 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 30-24 overtime loss to the Bengals. He added seven rushes for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix didn't match the exceptional stat line of his counterpart Joe Burrow, but he was impressive in his own right. After struggling to move the offense in the first half, he led a trio of touchdown drives in the final two quarters. The performance was highlighted by a pair of long touchdown passes to Marvin Mims, the first being a 51-yard deep shot and the second coming on a 25-yard desperation heave with only eight seconds remaining in regulation. Nix now has at least three passing scores in three of his last six games after accomplishing that only once in his first 10 games as a pro.
Dec 19, 2024
Strong numbers in loss
Nix completed 29 of 40 passes for 263 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and added three rushes for 25 yards in the Broncos' 34-27 loss to the Chargers on Thursday night. He also fumbled once but Denver retained possession.
ANALYSIS
The rookie turned in yet another impressive performance and did so against a talented defense, bouncing back from having thrown a combined five interceptions over the previous two games. Nix eclipsed 250 passing yards for the fourth time in five games with Thursday's total, one he achieved by connecting with a whopping 10 targets overall. Nix's pair of touchdown passes went to Michael Burton (one yard) and Devaughn Vele (six yards) -- both coming in the second quarter -- and he's now compiled 13 scoring tosses over the last six games. Nix next takes aim at the vulnerable Bengals defense in a Week 17 road matchup on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Dec 15, 2024
Overcomes three INTs in Week 15 win
Nix completed 20 of 33 passes for 130 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Colts. He added eight rushing attempts for 23 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix reverted to the poor form he showed early in the season, throwing an interception on Denver's first drive and adding another two picks in the third quarter. He connected with Adam Trautman for a 13-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and after Denver's defense held the fort while Nix found his game, the rookie quarterback created some breathing room with fourth-quarter touchdown passes of 15 and 20 yards to Nate Adkins and Courtland Sutton. Nix has a 4:5 TD:INT in his last two starts after posting an 8:0 mark over the three preceding games, so he'll look to clean up the mistakes on a short week Thursday against the Chargers.
Dec 3, 2024
Mixed stat line in win
Nix completed 18 of 35 pass attempts for 294 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while rushing three times for four yards in Monday's 41-32 win over Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Nix turned in mixed results in Monday's thrilling victory, throwing his 17th touchdown in addition to his seventh and eighth interceptions of the season. The rookie standout didn't have his best game as a rusher either, but his 294 passing yards was his second-highest total through 12 starts. Nix has been progressing well since enduring a slow start to the campaign, making him a viable fantasy option coming out of the upcoming bye against the Colts on Dec. 15.
Nov 30, 2024
No injury designation for Monday
Nix (back) does not carry an injury designation for Monday's contest against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Nix was a full participant both Friday and Saturday meaning he's good to go in the primetime affair against the Browns. Cleveland's defense is allowing 251 passing yards over the last three games, which ranks 10th worst in the NFL and that includes last Thursday's blizzard-like conditions against the Steelers. The rookie quarterback could be poised for yet another outstanding day as he vies for contention for Rookie of the Year honors.
Nov 29, 2024
Full participant Friday
Nix (back) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nix's return to full participation Friday suggests he isn't in danger of sitting out Monday's game against the Browns after being limited on Thursday's practice estimate. The rookie quarterback confirmed as much himself Friday by stating "I'm good to go," per Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post. Barring a setback, Nix won't have an injury designation when the Broncos release their final injury report Saturday.
Nov 28, 2024
Limited on practice estimate
Nix (back) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos held a walk-through Thursday, with Nix estimated as a limited participant due to a back issue. The QB didn't miss a snap in Denver's 29-19 win over the Raiders in Week 12, an effort that led to Nix being named the NFL's Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week. Therefore, it's quite possible that his listed limitations Thursday were maintenance-related. Added context on that front will arrive via Friday's injury report.
Nov 24, 2024
Stays hot in win over Raiders
Nix completed 25 of 42 pass attempts for 273 yards and two touchdowns (no turnovers) while rushing for five yards on his only carry in Sunday's 29-19 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Nix maintained the momentum from his career-best performance last week with another clean win while throwing multiple touchdown passes. The rookie quarterback has been developing quickly with 11 touchdowns to just one interception over his last five contests. Nix will lead a 7-5 Broncos squad into Week 13 for a home tilt against the Browns on Monday Night Football.
Nov 17, 2024
Throws four TDs in career-best game
Nix completed 28 of 33 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 38-6 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Nix set new single-game career highs in passing yards and touchdown passes, as well as completion percentage (85 percent) and passer rating (145). He threw a touchdown pass in each quarter, with a 12-yarder to Nate Adkins in the first, a 12-yarder to Marvin Mims in the second, a seven-yarder to Troy Franklin in the third and a 41-yarder to Lil'Jordan Humphrey in the fourth. Nix's four touchdown passes brought his season total up to 14, which tied the Broncos franchise rookie record set by Marlin Briscoe in 1968. The rookie first-round pick will look to take sole possession of that record during the Broncos' Week 12 trip to Vegas.
Nov 10, 2024
Solid showing against tough D
Nix completed 22 of 30 passes for 215 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding three carries for minus-5 yards in the Broncos' 16-14 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. He also fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
Nix hung tough against the defense of the defending champions on their home turf, nearly helping his team pull off a sizable upset. The rookie continued to demonstrate growth as a passer, recording over 20 completions for the second time in the last three games and pushing his passing touchdown total to five over that span with his pair of scoring tosses. Nix connected with Devaugh Vele (six yards) and Courtland Sutton (32 yards) for his pair of TDs, and he helped drive the Broncos a total of 43 yards in 13 plays to position Will Lutz for a potential game-winning field goal that was ultimately blocked. Nix will remain a solid commodity in all fantasy formats going into a favorable Week 11 home match up against the Falcons.
Nov 3, 2024
Tough passing day Sunday
Nix completed 19 of 33 passes for 223 yards and an interception in Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Ravens. He added 36 rushing yards on six carries and caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Courtland Sutton.
ANALYSIS
While the rookie QB was able to supply a little value as a runner and surprisingly as a pass-catcher, Nix still has his worst performance as a passer since Week 2 -- the last time he threw more INTs than TDs. It was an especially disappointing effort given the struggles of the Baltimore secondary this season, and the fact that he had a 7:1 TD:INT over his prior four games. Nix may have a tough time rebounding in a Week 10 road clash with Kansas City.
Oct 28, 2024
Produces four TDs in win
Nix completed 28 of 37 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns while adding four rushing yards and a TD on five carries in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie QB put together his best performance of the season, leading the Broncos to touchdowns on three straight drives in the second quarter before capping his day with a nine-yard scoring toss to Jaleel McLaughlin in the third. Nix's 284 passing yards were also a career high, and while the quality of the opposition Sunday has to be taken into account, the Oregon product has still completed 66.7 percent of his passes over the last four games while generating nine touchdowns (seven through the air, two on the ground) against only one interception. Nix will take on a Ravens defense in Week 9 that just allowed Jameis Winston to hang 334 yards and three TDs on them in his first start of the season.
Oct 17, 2024
Efficient in big win
Nix completed 16 of 26 passes for 164 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed 10 times for 75 yards in the Broncos' 33-10 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Nix faced a Saints team that was significantly short-handed on offense, so he had the luxury of being able to run a fairly conservative game plan that limited his exposure as a passer. The rookie managed to remain free of turnovers for the fourth time in the last five games, and he connected with six different targets overall. Nix's rush attempts and rushing yards were both new career highs as well, and he appears to be making solid week-to-week progress heading into a favorable Week 8 home matchup against the vulnerable Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Oct 13, 2024
Throws two more TDs in loss
Nix completed 19 of 33 of pass attempts for 216 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while rushing six times for 61 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Nix followed up last week's two-score performance with another pair of touchdowns against the Chargers on Sunday. The rookie first-rounder had just one touchdown pass in his first four games with Denver, so his recent ability to finish off drives shows some development as a passer. Nix's ability as a rusher (37-180-3) gives him value as a deep-league option heading into Thursday's matchup against New Orleans.
Oct 6, 2024
Leads efficient offense
Nix completed 19 of 27 passes for 206 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 34-18 win over the Raiders. He added eight rushes for nine yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Nix didn't have his best game from a yardage perspective, but his command of the offense looks to remain on the upswing. He averaged 7.6 yards per attempt and completed five passes of at least 20 yards -- both of which marked career bests. After throwing a pair of picks in each of his two games as a pro, Nix now has also started to avoid mistakes with zero turnovers across his last three matchups. While things have improved, he's still not likely to be a consistent source of fantasy points as he has yet to reach 250 passing yards in a game and Sunday's win marked his first effort with multiple passing scores.
Sep 29, 2024
Struggles in victory
Nix completed 12 of 25 pass attempts for 60 yards and one touchdown against the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos somehow pulled off the win 10-9, but the Denver passing game (60 yards) was less productive than the rushing attack (126 yards), which highlights the lopsidedness of the Broncos offense at the moment. The Jets defense is likely one of the best in the league and rain was a factor, so Nix's struggles can be rationalized somewhat, but it still isn't easy to see how the Broncos are supposed to establish a consistent offense with their current personnel most weeks. Nix will hope to build some momentum against Las Vegas in Week 5.
Sep 22, 2024
Shows plenty of progress in win
Nix completed 25 of 36 passes for 216 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added nine rushes for 47 yards and a score in the Broncos' 26-7 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Nix and the Broncos went into a presumably difficult and unseasonably warm road environment, but neither the rookie nor his teammates appeared fazed at any point. The rookie 12th overall pick averaged a modest 6.0 yards per attempt, but he steered clear of any turnovers for the first time in his nascent career. Nix demonstrated his usual rushing prowess as well, and he recorded his second career rushing touchdown on a three-yard run to cap off Denver's opening drive. Nix connected with an impressive nine targets overall, perhaps showing an increasing command of coach Sean Payton's offense heading into a Week 4 road matchup against the Jets next Sunday.
Sep 16, 2024
Picked twice in loss
Nix completed 20 of 35 passes for 246 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers. He added four rushes for 25 yards.
ANALYSIS
Nix struggled throughout the game, as he ended the first half with only seven completions for 39 yards. He picked up his performance a bit in the final two quarters, though he threw a key pick in the end zone halfway through the third quarter, significantly changing the momentum of a two-possession deficit. Nix's line also benefitted from a 49-yard completion that came on a trick play two calls earlier. Nix has had a tough start to his pro career, failing to throw a touchdown across two games while being picked off four times. While he's been accurate, he's also averaging only 5.0 yards per attempt.
Sep 8, 2024
Runs in first TD
Nix completed 26 of 42 pass attempts for 138 yards and two interceptions while rushing five times for 35 yards and the first touchdown of his NFL career in Sunday's 26-20 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Nix was named the Broncos' starter earlier this week and punched in his first score as a pro late in Sunday's comeback attempt against the Seahawks. The 12th overall pick also threw two interceptions while averaging just 3.3 yards per attempt, resulting in a poor fantasy performance. Nix's ability as a runner is what gives him value for those in 2QB formats, but there are likely safer options in standard leagues.
Aug 23, 2024
Next start, Week 1
Nix won't play in Sunday's preseason finale against the Cardinals, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Nix being held out of the team's final exhibition game, coach Sean Payton relayed that Jarrett Stidham will start Sunday and play 8-12 snaps, after which Zach Wilson will get an extended look, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. The next game action Nix will see will arrive Sept. 8, when he's scheduled to start against the Seahawks. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was officially named Denver's starting quarterback following Wednesday's practice.
Aug 21, 2024
Named Week 1 starter
Coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday that Nix will open the regular season as Denver's starting quarterback, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nix began the offseason in a competition with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson for the starting gig, but after a strong preseason, he's officially primed to line up under center Week 1 on the road against Seattle. The 12th overall pick boasts five years of experience as a collegiate starter and could adapt to the speed of the NFL quicker than the typical rookie quarterback, especially given that his short-field accuracy makes him a perfect fit for Payton's offensive scheme. In last Sunday's preseason win over Green Bay, Nix completed eight of nine passes for 80 yards and a two-yard touchdown thrown to Tim Patrick. Per Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette, Payton hasn't yet decided whether Nix and the starters will play in Sunday's exhibition finale against Arizona.
Aug 19, 2024
May be named starter soon
Nix may be named as the Broncos' starting quarterback this week, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stevens expects coach Sean Payton to make an announcement in the coming days, after Nix completed eight of nine passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-2 win over Green Bay while leading the Broncos to 10 points on their first two drives. Nix was also solid in the preseason opener -- 15-of-21 passing for 125 yards and a TD -- and his scrambling has been encouraging from a fantasy standpoint (six rush attempts for 29 yards in two games). Veteran quarterback Jarrett Stidham has been much less impressive this preseason, completing 11 of 18 passes for 102 yards with one rushing TD and two interceptions.
Aug 19, 2024
Shines in preseason start
Nix completed eight of nine passes for 80 yards and a touchdown while adding three rushing attempts for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-2 preseason win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Nix continued his strong preseason in Denver's second exhibition, this time playing the first two drives as the starter. The rookie 12th overall pick had a would-be 14-yard touchdown pass to Javonte Williams called back due to an illegal forward pass penalty on the opening drive as the Broncos settled for a field goal, but Nix bounced back with a two-yard touchdown connection to Tim Patrick on the following possession. Nix has likely done enough in the preseason slate to emerge as the favorite over Jarrett Stidham to begin the regular season as Denver's starting quarterback, though the competition may not be officially decided until after the team's game against the Cardinals next Sunday.

Indeed starting Sunday
Coach Sean Payton said Friday that Nix will start Sunday's preseason game against the Packers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton's comments confirm the plan he proposed ahead of Denver's preseason opener last week, which Jarrett Stidham started. Nix, who completed 15 of 21 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown while rushing three times for 17 yards versus the Colts last week, will work with the first-team offense against Green Bay on Sunday. Stidham will then enter the contest, followed by Zach Wilson.

Sharp in NFL debut
Nix completed 15 of 21 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown while rushing three times for 17 yards in Sunday's 34-30 preseason win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Nix came into the game after Jarrett Stidham played the first two possessions, but the rookie looked much more effective while also getting a chance to work with the first-team offense for his first drive in the game. Stidham didn't produce any points on his two drives and threw an interception, while Nix led the offense to a field goal on his first possession before capping his second drive with a one-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Mims and adding another field goal in the two-minute drill. Nix showcased some playmaking ability with his legs prior to the touchdown pass, converting a third down with a six-yard scramble and taking off for an 11-yard gain on an option play three plays later. He led another touchdown drive to begin the third quarter before giving way to Zach Wilson, who also produced two touchdown drives. Denver's quarterback competition has yet to be decided, but Nix helped his case with Sunday's strong performance and is expected to start against the Packers in Denver's next preseason game.

To start second preseason game
Coach Sean Payton announced Friday that Jarrett Stidham will start Sunday's preseason opener against the Colts, while Nix will start the team's following contest Aug. 18 versus the Packers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
DiLalla notes that in Denver's preseason opener Nix will play after Stidham gets his reps Sunday, followed by Zach Wilson, with Nix potentially getting in some snaps with the first-team offense. Despite a posted unofficial depth chart that favors the team's veterans at this stage, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic notes that Stidham and Nix have largely split first-team practice reps since camp training began. Meanwhile, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post suggests that Nix remains expected to push Stidham for the starting job by Week 1, adding that it would be a moderate surprise if the rookie first-rounder didn't end up getting the nod.

Third-stringer on unofficial depth chart
Nix is listed as the No. 3 quarterback on Denver's first unofficial depth chart Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Nix is listed behind both Jared Stidham (No. 1) and Zach Wilson (No. 2) on the Broncos' first unofficial preseason depth chart, but it's worth noting that every member of Denver's rookie class is listed at the bottom of their respective positional group. In practice, the Broncos have been regularly rotating members of the quarterback room with the first-team offense, and there still appears to be a true ongoing competition for the Week 1 gig. Preseason action could help narrow things down, potentially beginning with Sunday's road exhibition context against the Colts, depending on who coach Sean Payton opts to have see the field.

Showing improvement
Coach Sean Payton is pleased with Nix's progress and told reporters the QB played "overall, pretty well" Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post suggests Wednesday represented Nix's best day of practice in pads as well as his best showing yet with the first-team offense. The Broncos also have given QBs Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson work with the starters, although it's unclear if that will continue for Wilson given that he's now gone three days in a row without any first-team reps, per Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post. The job battle may be narrowing down to two QBs with preseason games on the horizon, and Nix remains a favorite to start Week 1 if only because he's facing such shaky competition.

Part of three-way job battle
Coach Sean Payton has made it clear Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson are competing for the starting QB job, ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton said Thursday that Nix is "farther along" than most rookies would be at the same juncture, citing Nix's intelligence and NCAA QB record of 61 starts as likely explanations for his ability to learn the Denver offense quickly. The rookie first-round pick opened Thursday's practice with the starters, but Payton downplayed the significance afterward, mentioning that Stidham got more first-team snaps Tuesday and Wilson took the majority Wednesday. Payton said all three are doing well so far and expressed confidence that the Broncos have a good QB room, though he also used the term "orphan dogs" to describe the trio of Nix, Stidham and Wilson.
