Out for Week 12, still week-to-week
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Aiyuk's (knee) 21-day practice window will not be opened this week, and he remains week-to-week, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk will not play in next Monday night's Week 12 game against the Panthers, and he doesn't appear to be particularly close to a return to game action. The 49ers have a Week 14 bye, so perhaps Aiyuk will be able to practice at some point before that and potentially play prior to the end of the regular season. For now, the Niners will continue to roll with Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne as their three main wideouts.

Unlikely to practice this week
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that the 49ers don't intend to open Aiyuk's (knee) practice window this week, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk remains in the rehab stages of the torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in his right knee Week 7 of last season. Shanahan did tell David Lombardi of SFStandard.com last Wednesday that he's "pretty confident" Aiyuk will play at some point this season, but it's unlikely to happen this coming Sunday and likely for at least a few more weeks after that point.

Expected to play this year, eventually
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he's "pretty confident" Aiyuk (knee) will play at some point this season, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That's probably not what fantasy managers want to hear, though it was already made clear Monday that Aiyuk isn't exactly close to a return. He's still on injured reserve, with no designation to return to practice this week, and then he's presumably looking at a multi-week ramp up whenever he does begin practicing. A game appearance before December would be surprising.

Not ready to practice
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Aiyuk (knee) won't have his 21-day practice window opened this week, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers are continuing to evaluate Aiyuk on a week-to-week basis as he moves through the rehab process for the right knee surgery he required after suffering ACL and MCL tears in a Oct. 20, 2024 game. While the 49ers are seemingly still hopeful that Aiyuk will contribute at some point this season, a more definitive target date for his 2025 debut won't become clear until he starts practicing.

Unlikely to have practice window opened this week
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that the 49ers don't intend to designate Aiyuk (knee) to return from the reserve/PUP list Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
On Friday, Shanahan told David Lombardi of SFStandard.com that Aiyuk's 21-day practice window may open this week, but even if it doesn't, the 49ers currently are in "week-to-week mode" with the wide receiver. Aiyuk is little more than one year removed from suffering ACL and MCL tears in his right knee Week 7 of the 2024 campaign, so he still may endure a significant ramp-up process even when he's cleared to practice.
Oct 24, 2025
May have practice window opened soon
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that the 49ers may designate Aiyuk (knee) to return from the reserve/PUP list next week, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk is a shade more than one year removed from tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee Week 7 of last season. Once the 49ers make the aforementioned transaction, be it next week or beyond that point, the team will have a 21-day window in which to evaluate Aiyuk in practice to determine his return to action. Shanahan added that San Francisco currently is in "week-to-week mode" with Aiyuk, meaning he may need a few weeks to get up to speed before gaining clearance to play.
Oct 23, 2025
Drawing closer to 2025 debut
San Francisco general manager John Lynch said Thursday that he has both hope and "evidence" that Aiyuk (knee) will soon be ready to make his 2025 debut, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Lynch didn't go into specifics regarding where exactly Aiyuk stands in his recovery from the torn ACL and MCL he sustained last October, the GM's comments indicate that the receiver has reached some necessary checkpoints in the rehab process for his surgically repaired right knee. That being said, until the 49ers clear Aiyuk to practice and open up his 21-day evaluation window, it will be difficult to pinpoint a target date for the 27-year-old to potentially return from the PUP list. Whenever he's activated, Aiyuk could have his snap counts monitored carefully for at least a few games.
Oct 13, 2025
Still no timetable to practice
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Aiyuk (knee) is getting "closer and closer" to being able to practice, but the 49ers don't have a specific timeline for the wide receiver to do so, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk remains in recovery mode from the ACL and MCL tears that he suffered in his right knee Week 7 of last season, instead residing on the reserve/PUP list to this point in the campaign. Per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com, Shanahan added, "I always look around Week 10, but I'm not putting an exact date on it." As of Week 6, Aiyuk's only notable on-field work occurred in mid-September, when he was seen running while fellow 49ers wide receivers worked in individual drills, per Wagoner.
Sep 25, 2025
Not close to returning from PUP
49ers GM John Lynch said Thursday that Aiyuk (knee, PUP) is "not close" to returning, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lombardi believes a Week 6 return is not realistic for Aiyuk, as the wide receiver is still working to hit various markers in his recovery. Coach Kyle Shanahan said back in August that Week 6 was a reasonable target for Aiyuk's return to game action, but that is looking increasingly unlikely at this point. The 49ers will continue to work through injuries at the position, but Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle) appear poised to lead this wideout room for the foreseeable future.
Sep 17, 2025
Spotted running
Aiyuk (knee) did some running while his teammates were practicing Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk remains on the PUP list, out through at least Week 4 and unable to practice with his teammates. Neither player nor team has said much about the situation of late, but coach Kyle Shanahan did suggest in mid-August that Week 6 (against Tampa Bay) was a reasonable target for Aiyuk's 2025 debut.
Aug 26, 2025
Shifts to reserve/PUP list
The 49ers moved Aiyuk (knee) to the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
This is merely a procedural move, as coach Kyle Shanahan has circled (in his mind) a Week 6 road matchup with the Buccaneers as a possible date for Aiyuk to make his 2025 debut, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic. With this move from active/PUP to reserve/PUP, though, Aiyuk technically can return to action as early as Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Rams. He remains in recovery mode from the ACL and MCL tears that he sustained in his right knee Week 7 of last season. With Demarcus Robinson suspended for the first three games of the season, Jauan Jennings (calf) and Ricky Pearsall are the top wide receivers on San Francisco's active roster.
Aug 11, 2025
Could be ready for Week 6
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Week 6 could be a realistic target for Aiyuk (ACL) to take the field, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan pre-empted the estimate by saying he hadn't given the date much thought, but Week 6 nonetheless seems like a fairly realistic target for Aiyuk, who is recovering from right knee surgery undergone last November to address ACL and MCL tears, to make his 2025 debut. In that scenario, Aiyuk would figure to begin the year on the PUP list, then begin ramping his activity level up before hopefully taking the field Oct. 12 on the road against Tampa Bay. Even then, it's conceivable Aiyuk could get off to a slow start and ramp his way up to a full starting share of snaps, meaning it would incentivize fantasy mangers to plan ahead and roster alternative options at WR. With Jauan Jennings (calf) and Jacob Cowing (hamstring) still not practicing, and Jordan Watkins (ankle) out about a month, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson are currently operating as the 49ers' clear top two wide receivers.
Aug 7, 2025
Not expected for Week 1
San Francisco GM John Lynch said Thursday he "doesn't think" Aiyuk (ACL), who remains on the active/PUP list, will be cleared to play Week 1, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynch reiterated that there's still no official timetable set for Aiyuk's recovery from right ACL and MCL tears suffered last October, but it's no surprise to hear a lack of optimism regarding his Week 1 availability. Aiyuk has yet to practice in any capacity since undergoing right knee surgery mid-November of 2024, though the 49ers have expressed optimism in his rehab progress and he's remained active in meetings and as an 'unofficial coach' on the sidelines for teammates. Realistic expectations for Aiyuk should probably involve a slow start early in the 2025 regular season, with TE George Kittle, RB Christian McCaffrey, and wide receivers Jauan Jennings (calf) and Ricky Pearsall opening the year as QB Brock Purdy's top playmakers.

Keeping busy on sidelines
San Francisco offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak said Tuesday that Aiyuk (knee), who remains on the active/PUP, has been "kind of a coach on the side" throughout the early stages of training camp, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kubiak said "it's been awesome" having Aiyuk mentor his positional mates during individual drills and walkthroughs, rather than being "just isolated doing his rehab." A timetable for Aiyuk's return remains undisclosed, but although the 27-year-old wideout has reportedly thrived in his rehab activities, it would likely be unreasonable to expect him to be available Week 1 as he works his way back from right ACL and MCL tears suffered last October. Still, Aiyuk's active mental involvement lends credence to hopes that he'll be able to hit the ground running this season, whenever he is cleared to play. Meanwhile, Ricky Pearsall overcame his hamstring injury and was activated from the PUP list Sunday, while Jauan Jennings (calf) is currently sidelined and has been vocal about his desire for a new contract.
Jul 18, 2025
Moved to active/PUP list Friday
Aiyuk (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list by the 49ers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk is eligible to practice while on the active/PUP list, though he isn't expected to be available for training camp as he recovers from a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee sustained in October. Fellow wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) was also placed on the active/PUP list Friday, though he's expected to have a much more optimistic recovery timeline than Aiyuk. With Jauan Jennings (calf) unhappy with his contract, there will be more opportunities for Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins during training camp.
Jun 13, 2025
Reportedly thriving in workouts
San Francisco general manager John Lynch said Thursday that Aiyuk (knee) has been "doing a tremendous job coming back," Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk isn't expected to be ready to participate in training camp in late July as he continues to work his way back from from a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee, but the wideout has made a positive impression with his recovery. Lynch commented that Aiyuk has been "putting in the work" and stated that "it's kind of incredible how well he's healing." It's not year clear when Aiyuk will be ready for game action, and he probably won't be active when the 49ers open the 2025 season Sept. 7 against Seattle. However, he's on track to lead the team's wideout corps when he does return following the offseason departure of Deebo Samuel to Washington.
Jun 11, 2025
Coaching up teammates at minicamp
Aiyuk (knee) is present at San Francisco's mandatory minicamp but is not practicing, though he contributed Tuesday by coaching up the team's younger receivers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's recovery remains on track, but given the severity of the injury he's working back from, he's not considered a candidate to be ready for the start of training camp late July. The 49ers haven't yet offered a tangible timetable for Aiyuk's expected return, but he's remaining involved at team activities despite not being ready to handle on-field work. While it's still possible Aiyuk is ready for the start of the regular season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee last October, it's not a guarantee he'll be back to 100 percent form at any point in 2025. Even considering his deflated ADP in 2025 fantasy drafts, Aiyuk has to be considered a high-risk, high-upside selection. As he heads into the second season of the four-year, $120 million extension he inked with the 49ers last offseason, though, Aiyuk remains positioned to lead San Francisco's wide receiver corps when fully healthy.
Mar 31, 2025
Progressing with injury recovery
GM John Lynch relayed Monday that Aiyuk, who tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee in October, met with Dr. Neal ElAttrache last week and got "good reviews" in terms of the progress he's made in his injury recovery, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, there is still no concrete timetable for Aiyuk's return to action. Either way, Lynch noted that despite recent trade speculation, he expects the 2020 first-rounder -- who the 49ers signed to a four-year, $120 million extension last August -- to remain with the team this coming season. Aiyuk (due a $22.85 million bonus Tuesday) recorded 25 catches (on 47 targets) for 374 yards in seven games prior to his injury, and once fully healthy is in line to headline a San Francisco WR corps that no longer includes Deebo Samuel. For now, the top available options behind Aiyuk are Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson.

Undergoes knee surgery
Aiyuk had surgery to repair the ACL and other damage in is right knee earlier this week, David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk sustained at least ACL and MCL tears in that knee during a Week 7 loss to the Chiefs, so Lombardi's report indicates other areas may have been impacted in the hit that he took just before halftime in that game. Medical science has reached such a point that Aiyuk could make enough progress in his recovery to be ready for Week 1 of the 2025 season, but additional damage to his right knee on top of what is known may delay his next game action. With Aiyuk out for the season, Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall will be the primary wide receivers for QB Brock Purdy the rest of the way.
Oct 23, 2024
Placed on IR
The 49ers placed Aiyuk (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk has a long rehab path ahead after suffering ACL and MCL tears during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. The 49ers are left with Deebo Samuel (illness) and Jauan Jennings (hip) as their top veteran wide receivers for the rest of the season, and it's unclear if either will be available this Sunday against the Cowboys. Rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing and second-year pro Ronnie Bell are all candidates for significant playing time in the near future, especially if veteran backup Chris Conley (ankle) also is unable to play.
Oct 21, 2024
Torn ACL, MCL confirmed
Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Monday that Aiyuk sustained tears to the ACL and MCL in his right knee during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season, ending it with 25 catches (on 47 targets) for 374 yards and no touchdowns in seven games. With Deebo Samuel suffering from pneumonia, Jauan Jennings dealing with a hip issue and Chris Conley tending to a sprained ankle, the 49ers' current healthy wide receivers on the active roster are Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing and Ronnie Bell.
Oct 21, 2024
Torn ACL and MCL, per report
Aiyuk reportedly suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Look for confirmation of the report, either way, to arrive from the 49ers later Monday, but Aiyuk appears destined for season-ending IR as a result of his knee injury. In his looming absence, Deebo Samuel (illness) and Jauan Jennings (hip) are in line to lead the 49ers' WR corps going forward, with 2024 first-rounder Ricky Pearsall also likely to see an expanded role in the team's passing offense.
Oct 21, 2024
Believed to be done for 2024
Aiyuk's tests on his injured knee Monday revealed a season-ending injury, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The exact nature of Aiyuk's injury isn't yet clear, but the fear after Sunday's loss to the Chiefs was that it was a significant injury and possibly a torn ACL. While making a catch, Aiyuk was hit low and high by a pair of Kansas City defenders going opposite directions, forcing Aiyuk's knee to bend the wrong direction. It sounds as if he'll end the 2024 season with 25 catches for 374 yards and no touchdowns across seven games after he held out the entirety of training camp while seeking a contract extension. The 49ers eventually caved and gave the star wideout a four-year, $120 million deal. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are likely to carry even more of the target load going forward for San Francisco, and Jauan Jennings (hip) figures to draw back into the starting lineup as an every-down wideout once he's healthy. Rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing and veteran Chris Conley would be next in line for snaps.
Oct 20, 2024
Team fears torn ACL
Coach Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday's 28-18 loss to the Chiefs that the 49ers are worried that Aiyuk tore his ACL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk exited due to a second-quarter knee injury. If further testing confirms a torn ACL, the injury would be season-ending. Aiyuk had two catches for 23 yards on six targets prior to getting hurt Sunday, bringing his season totals to 25 catches for 374 yards.
Oct 20, 2024
Injures knee, ruled out Sunday
Aiyuk won't return to Sunday's contest against the Chiefs due to a knee injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk picked up the health concern at the end of a 15-yard catch late in the second quarter. He was able to get to the sideline under his own power, but after visiting the sideline tent, he was carted to the locker at the start of halftime, pointing at his right knee in the process, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. With Jauan Jennings (inactive) and Deebo Samuel (illness) questionable to return, Chris Conley, Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing and Ronnie Bell are the 49ers' current healthy wide receivers.
Oct 20, 2024
Carted to locker room
Aiyuk went to the locker room on a cart due to an undisclosed injury at halftime of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk remained on the turf after a 15-yard catch late in the second quarter, and while he was able to walk to the sideline under his own power, he required assistance to reach the locker room. With Deebo Samuel dealing with an illness and barely seeing the field Sunday and Jauan Jennings (hip) inactive, the 49ers may have to play the rest of Week 7 with Chris Conley, Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing and Ronnie Bell at wide receiver.
Oct 11, 2024
Quiet night following breakout
Aiyuk secured two of four targets for 37 yards in the 49ers' 36-24 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of a season-best eight-catch, 147-yard line in Week 5, Aiyuk disappointingly regressed to the mean just four days later. Outside of the aforementioned breakout performance, Aiyuk hasn't topped 48 receiving yards or five receptions in any of his other five games. Nevertheless, Aiyuk projects to likely be much busier in a Week 7 Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs on Sunday, Oct. 20, a game where Brock Purdy will likely have to put up more than Thursday night's 28 attempts.
Oct 6, 2024
Busts out of slump in big way
Aiyuk corralled eight of 12 targets for 147 yards in Sunday's 24-23 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk finally delivered for fantasy managers after a slow start following his offseason contract dispute. The dynamic wideout saw both his usage (12 targets) and production reach new highs after failing to reach 50 yards receiving in any of his previous five contests. Aiyuk will attempt tp keep the momentum from his gaudy performance Sunday rolling into the 49ers' next tilt against the Seahawks on Thursday.
Sep 29, 2024
Held under 50 yards again
Aiyuk had two receptions on five targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's early slog through the fantasy schedule continued for a fourth week despite the 49ers picking up a comfortable win over New England. The star receiver has seen his numbers slide down across the board since earning a deserved payday this past offseason. Aiyuk has yet to top 50 yards or hit pay dirt in any of his four starts this season, while No. 3 option Jauan Jennings led the team in receiving for the second week running. The 26-year-old has bigger fantasy performances ahead of him, with fantasy managers hoping that breakout moment comes in Sunday's home matchup against the Cardinals.
Sep 22, 2024
Receives 10 targets in loss
Aiyuk had five receptions (10 targets) for 48 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk failed to deliver in a prime opportunity to prove his new worth with the 49ers lacking Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles), George Kittle (hamstring) and Deebo Samuel (calf). The freshly-signed wideout provided middling results on 10 targets, notably dropping a pass from Brock Purdy that hit the receiver in the mitts Sunday. Aiyuk will be poised to post big numbers against the Patriots on Sunday after recording a disappointing 11/119/0 receiving line through three contests.
Sep 17, 2024
Set for No. 1 role sans Samuel
Aiyuk is expected to serve as the 49ers' No. 1 receiver for at least Sunday's game against the Rams after San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Deebo Samuel (calf) is likely to miss "a couple weeks," Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
After holding out for all of training camp and the preseason before finalizing a contract extension with the 49ers in late August, Aiyuk has taken on a more muted role than normal in the San Francisco passing attack though the first two weeks of the season. Though he was back to handling a normal snap share in Week 2 (88 percent) after being eased back in with a 60 percent snap share in the Week 1 win over the Jets, Aiyuk still finished with a modest 4-43-0 receiving line on five targets in this past Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Vikings. Samuel ended up missing just one snap due to the calf strain he suffered with 2:18 remaining in the fourth quarter and was the far busier of the two receivers on the day with an 8-110-0 line on 10 targets, but his expected absence for Week 3 and likely Week 4 should free up more opportunities for Aiyuk. Wideout Jauan Jennings and tight end George Kittle could also see upticks in targets, but coming off a 1,342-yard season and with a new four-year, $120 million contract in tow,
Sep 15, 2024
Slow start continues Sunday
Aiyuk had four receptions (five targets) for 43 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was limited to five targets for the second consecutive week, but saw his production increase against the Vikings compared to last week's two-catch dud against the Jets. The star wideout's low involvement was foreshadowed by head coach Kyle Shanahan prior to Week 1 after Aiyuk missed the entirety of the preseason schedule in search of contract extension. Dual-threat superstar Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) was placed on injured reserve prior to Sunday's tilt and will be missing in action for the first six games of the season. Deebo Samuel (8/110/0) and George Kittle (7/76/1) have picked up the slack in the passing game while Aiyuk continues to reintegrate into the gameplan. The 49ers have thrown just one touchdown pass through two games this season, so a Week 3 matchup against the Rams could be where we see Aiyuk finally break out of his early-season slump.
Sep 10, 2024
Limited to two receptions Monday
Aiyuk had two receptions (five targets) for 28 yards in Monday's 32-19 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Kyle Shanahan foreshadowed that Aiyuk would see a limited role after missing the entire preseason waiting out his contract dispute with the front office. The 2020 first-round pick still saw five targets and did well on a per-touch basis, so fantasy managers shouldn't panic over the Week 1 dud. Better days will be ahead for Aiyuk and the passing game, potentially starting with Sunday's matchup against Minnesota.
Sep 7, 2024
Likely not full workload Week 1
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday he'd be "surprised" if Aiyuk saw a full workload in the season opener Monday against the Jets, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
That's about as direct of coach speak as you can ask for, and it makes some sense given Aiyuk missed the majority of August practices before ending his hold-in with a four-year, $120 million extension signed 10 days ago. The difficult part to decipher is how much of a workload Aiyuk will receive if it's not the "full" amount and it's more complicating considering Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. That the contest is against the vaunted Jets defense and All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, who himself just signed a recent extension, only recently returned from his holdout, it might be prudent to avoid using Aiyuk in fantasy if managers have other capable options.
Aug 29, 2024
Strikes extension with San Fran
The 49ers and Aiyuk reached an agreement on a four-year, $120 million extension Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The long offseason and preseason saga surrounding Aiyuk has now reached its conclusion, with the wide receiver reportedly getting $76 million in guaranteed money to stay in the Bay Area. Now that he's locked in with the 49ers for the foreseeable future, he'll be looking to uphold his standard as a 1,000-yard option in San Francisco's offense, something that he's accomplished in both of the past two campaigns.
Aug 29, 2024
Absent from practice again
Aiyuk is not present at Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's absences were a mainstay of training camp for the 49ers, but it's notable for him to still be a non-participant after coach Kyle Shanahan offered hope Wednesday that the wideout would practice soon. Shanahan also stated Wednesday that Aiyuk has been cleared by team doctors, which could be an indication that San Francisco will consider implementing fines if the 2020 first-round pick's participation level doesn't change. With under two weeks remaining until the 49ers' regular-season opener against the Jets, a resolution to Aiyuk's situation should come soon, no matter the outcome.
Aug 28, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Aiyuk is not present at the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, though coach Kyle Shanahan said there was hope the wideout would resume participating soon, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan noted Wednesday that Aiyuk has been "cleared by our doctors," per David Lombardi of The Athletic, but it looks like the status quo of the star receiver's 'hold-in' will continue. While it's notable that Aiyuk is officially healthy enough to practice after having been linked to neck and back discomfort during training camp, his lack of a long-term deal clearly remains the true hurdle. The 49ers now have under two weeks remaining before Week 1's matchup against the Jets, and Aiyuk has yet to practice with the team this summer.
Aug 28, 2024
May practice soon?
Coach Kyle Shanahan suggested Wednesday that Aiyuk (contract dispute) could resume practicing soon, noting that he wideout has been "cleared by our doctors," David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports that Aiyuk had back and neck injuries during training camp, although the wideout's absence from practice this summer largely has been attributed to a contract dispute (and subsequent trade request). The contract is clearly the bigger issue, and there doesn't seem to be any question that Aiyuk currently is healthy enough to practice -- something he's yet to do this summer. Shanahan said he hopes to have Aiyuk practicing Wednesday afternoon, but it's unclear if that's wishful thinking or a realistic goal.
Aug 22, 2024
No update from GM
49ers GM John Lynch said Thursday that he has no update on Aiyuk but remains in contact with the wide receiver, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the offseason drama with no end, although at some point it might become slightly less complicated due to other teams losing interest in a trade (or at least giving San Francisco a deadline). The Steelers were thought to be the last man standing in that regard a week ago, with Cleveland and New England having failed to convince Aiyuk to sign a long-term deal post-trade. The 49ers still hope to sign him -- or at least get him back on the field under the fifth-year option he's currently under contract for -- and it would seem a trade becomes less and less likely with each passing day.
Aug 14, 2024
Still talking with Niners
The 49ers are trying to work out a contract with Aiyuk but also have agreed to parameters of a trade with the Steelers, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the latest turn in a lengthy, ongoing drama, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting that a trade to Pittsburgh is "one phone call away." The 49ers previously discussed deals with the Browns and Patriots, but reports suggested negotiations fell through due to Aiyuk's hesitance about signing a long-term deal with either team. He's apparently willing to go to Pittsburgh, which essentially leaves everyone waiting on the 49ers to either complete a trade or meet Aiyuk's contract demands. It's possible the Steelers eventually rescind their offer if San Francisco's front office continues to drag things out with the effort to convince Aiyuk to take less than what Pittsburgh is offering.
Aug 9, 2024
Restarts talks with San Francisco
Aiyuk and the 49ers have re-opened negotiations on a potential long-term deal that would keep the star wideout in San Francisco for the foreseeable future, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk reportedly had a recent meeting with coach Kyle Shanahan and others among the 49ers' top brass which went positively enough to lend some optimism to the idea that he could stick around in San Francisco, per Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com. The Patriots are reported to have exited trade talks due to Aiyuk's disinterest in playing in New England, despite the team offering a lucrative contract, while the Steelers and Browns continue to be mentioned as suitors for a potential trade. For the time being, Aiyuk's situation remains fluid and at risk of continuing to stretch out into the preseason, with the start of the regular season still roughly one month away, but Pelissero's report that the 49ers are making a push toward extending Aiyuk could also motivate other interested team to negotiate with a greater sense of urgency.

Not going to New England
The Patriots are no longer exploring a trade for Aiyuk, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that the Patriots met the 49ers' trade demands and had a large contract offer on the table, but it didn't work out because Aiyuk wasn't willing to sign with New England. The Steelers and Browns are now thought to be the main teams pursuing the 26-year-old wideout, with earlier reports suggesting Cleveland might offer WR Amari Cooper as part of a trade. Pittsburgh wouldn't be able to offer a comparable wide receiver -- assuming George Pickens is off the table -- but might be able to make up the difference with additional draft capital and/or players at other positions. It's also still possible Aiyuk and the 49ers come to an agreement, although there's certainly some awkwardness involved after months of tense negotiations and now open trade talks.

Pittsburgh re-enters negotiations
The Steelers and 49ers have re-engaged in trade talks Tuesday regarding a potential deal for Aiyuk, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It was reported as of Monday night that San Francisco had trade frameworks in place with both the Patriots and Browns, but that both the Steelers and Commanders had dropped out of the mix at that time. It appears that Pittsburgh, a destination that Aiyuk previously named as a preference if he were to leave the 49ers, per Chad Graff of The Athletic, are now more willing to match the offers put forth by New England and Cleveland. All interested teams still have to overcome the hurdle of meeting Aiyuk's contract demands before a trade can be fully hammered out, but if Aiyuk truly is interested in the Steelers as a landing spot, that could provide momentum to get a deal done with Pittsburgh. Previous reports suggested the Browns and Patriots would include a veteran wideout in return as part of the deal, with Amari Cooper and Kendrick Bourne (knee) being floated respectively, but behind top receiver George Pickens, the Steelers only have unproven names like Van Jefferson, Roman Wilson (ankle) and Calvin Austin on

Could Land in Cleveland or New England
The 49ers have a framework in place to trade Aiyuk to the Patriots or Browns if he can agree to a contract with either team, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The two teams reportedly are wiling to meet San Francisco's trade demands but haven't yet met Aiyuk's contract demands. Both agreements presumably need to be hammered out before a trade is completed, with Jets edge rush Haason Reddick providing a cautionary example about trading for a player that's in a contract year and seeking a new deal (Reddick still has reported to training camp). Previous reports suggested the 49ers would be more willing to trade Aiyuk if they get a veteran wideout as part of the return, with Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer suggesting Browns WR Amari Cooper could be involved. Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne (knee) is also oft-mentioned, in part because he spent the first four seasons of his career with the 49ers (2018-20). A trade involving Bourne rather than Cooper presumably would entail far more draft compensation, as the former is a far lesser player and still working his way back from the ACL tear he suffered Oct. 29 last season.

Could be traded for another WR?
The 49ers aren't likely to trade Aiyuk for only draft picks but may be willing to deal him if a veteran wide receiver is part of the return, Matt Maiocco of the NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The problem then becomes that most teams with quality WRs aren't looking to trade them for a player who is in his contract year and holding out for a massive new deal. Maiocco mentions the Browns (and Amari Cooper) as a possible exception, along with the Patriots (and Kendrick Bourne), though the latter wouldn't come anywhere close to making up for the loss of Aiyuk. For now, Aiyuk remains a "hold in" at 49ers training camp, limited to attending meetings and watching practices. Contract negotiations are ongoing, as has seemingly been the case for much of spring and summer.

Present but not practicing
Aiyuk is present at training camp Wednesday but isn't dressed for practice, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk appears, unsurprisingly, to be reporting from training camp but 'holding in' and thus abstaining from team drills as he continues to look for a contract extension. Coming off a 2023 breakout season in which he put up a 75-1,342-7 receiving line on 105 targets in 15 games, Aiyuk has expressed frustration with the fact that he remains without a long-term deal, and he went so far as to officially request a trade prior to the start of camp. Still, considering Aiyuk's lack of leverage, the most likely outcome remains that he plays out the 2024 season in a 49ers uniform, whether on the fifth-year option on his rookie contract or a new contract.
Jul 23, 2024
Reporting to training camp
Aiyuk, who officially requested a trade last week, is present for the start of 49ers training camp Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk will be among veterans reporting to team facilities Tuesday for San Francisco, despite his outspoken desire for a new contract and recent request for a trade. Showing up will allow Aiyuk to avoid fines, as teams are required to penalize players on their rookie contracts $40,000 per day missed of camp, but he could still opt to work on the sidelines rather than participate in on-field team drills. That wouldn't be a surprising choice, as it would allow Aiyuk to maintain some leverage and avoid injury despite being physically present. Commanders GM Adam Peters said Tuesday that Aiyuk is unlikely to end up in Washington via trade, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports, but expect the situation regarding any potential trades to continually unfold. Aiyuk has also been the subject of trade rumors surrounding the Steelers, Patriots and Broncos, among others, this offseason, but he remains scheduled to play the 2024 season in San Francisco via the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.
Jul 23, 2024
No trade to Washington expected
Commanders GM Adam Peters said Aiyuk is unlikely to end up in Washington, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Frustrated with extension negotiations, Aiyuk requested a trade earlier this month. Washington has been oft-mentioned as a fit due to his friendship with QB Jayden Daniels and the team's shaky wideout depth beyond Terry McLaurin, but it doesn't sound like the Commanders have any expectation of making such a big splash before the start of the season. Scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract, Aiyuk may hold out from the start of training camp even though he'd accrue $50,000 in mandatory fines each day.
Jul 16, 2024
Officially requests trade
Aiyuk officially requested a trade from the 49ers on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's trade requests follows a tumultuous offseason, and though his recent meeting with the team was reported to have gone well, the star wideout is now looking to force San Francisco's hand with training camp just around the corner. It now seems realistic that Aiyuk, who is currently positioned to play out the 2024 season on a $14.12 million salary under the fifth-year option of his rookie deal, could hold out of training camp if no trade comes quickly to fruition. The 49ers selected Ricky Pearsall in the first round of April's draft, giving the team a pivot option behind top wideout Deebo Samuel should Aiyuk move on, and also brought back Jauan Jennings on a two-year deal.

Hoping to stay in San Francisco
Aiyuk recently told The Pivot podcast that he wants and expects to play for the 49ers this season despite being frustrated with contract negotiations at times.
ANALYSIS
"If I were to take a guess, probably a Niners uniform," Aiyuk said. "But if not a Niners uniform, probably a Washington Commander uniform. " Aiyuk said there have been times when he thought he was close to signing a new contract but also other moments where it felt the two sides were far apart. He met with the 49ers last Monday, and he then told The Pivot podcast that he's currently "in the right place, with the right quarterback" but "not on the right terms". Even though Aiyuk mentioned teaming up with close friend Jayden Daniels, the new QB in Washington, it sounds like the wideout still prefers San Francisco if he can get the contract he wants (or something close to it).

Meeting with Niners goes well
Aiyuk and the 49ers had a meeting Monday which Tom Pelissero of NFL Network described as "good," and both sides are continuing to work toward a contract extension, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk, who held out of mandatory minicamp earlier this month, requested a meeting with San Francisco roughly one week after posting a video in which he told Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who he played with at Arizona State, that the 49ers "said they don't want me back," per Nick Wagoner of ESPN. It seems things have landed in a more amicable place following Monday's most recent meeting, though there still aren't any signs that agreement on a new contract is immediately around the corner. As it stands, Aiyuk remains in line to play under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract for $14.12 million for 2025, but if that doesn't change by the start of training camp tensions could come to a head, especially if he continues to hold out. The 26-year-old is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving campaigns and has been one of the most efficient wide receivers in the league in Kyle Shanahan offense's.
Jun 18, 2024
Frustrated with negotiations
Aiyuk expressed frustration Monday with contract negotiations, although the 49ers remain interested in re-signing him at a lower price than what he's looking for, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk posted a TikTok video in which he says, "they don't want me," in an apparent reference to the 49ers. Rapoport, meanwhile, says he doesn't think negotiations are "completely dead" even though there seems to be a big money gap between the two sides. While Aiyuk's post may add fuel to the fire of trade rumors, it's still possible the 49ers keep him in a contract year even if they aren't able to work out a long-term deal. He held out from June minicamp and may not show up for the start of training camp if he's still scheduled to play out 2025 under a fifth-year option for $14.12 million.
Jun 4, 2024
Holding out from minicamp
Aiyuk is not present at 49ers minicamp this week as he seeks a new contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This was expected after Aiyuk didn't report for voluntary OTAs following an offseason full of trade speculation. Aiyuk ultimately wasn't traded, and the two sides have reportedly engaged in dialogue regarding a new deal, though nothing has seemed to advance further than the talking stage. Aiyuk is currently set to collect a $14.124 million salary in 2024, the final year of his rookie deal. He's one of the many receivers around the league set to be paid handsomely. It's unclear if San Francisco plans to meet his demands.
May 22, 2024
Not taking part in OTAs
Aiyuk remains away from team facilities for OTAs as he continues to negotiate for a contract extension, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk wasn't present at San Francisco's facilities for activities back in April, so it's unsurprising to see him still absent for voluntary OTAs. It remains to be seen, however, whether the wideout will consider an extended holdout if contract talks remain at a stall when mandatory minicamp kicks off. Aiyuk is currently slated to play out the 2024 season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, which would pay him $14.12 million, while recent contracts for the top players at his position have landed in the range of $30 million annually. The 49ers did draft Ricky Pearsall in the first round of April's draft and have Jauan Jennings returning behind top wideout Deebo Samuel, giving the team some additional leverage in negotiations.
May 5, 2024
Likely staying in Bay Area
49ers GM John Lynch recently told ESPN's Pat McAfee Show that he doesn't want to trade Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel despite taking Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Trade rumors earlier in the offseason centered on Aiyuk, who is scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. After the Niners drafted Pearsall, a few reporters suggested Samuel was actually more likely to be moved, in which case the Niners presumably would place greater emphasis on signing Aiyuk to a long-term deal. It now appears both will stay with the team this season, as will returning No. 3 receiver Jauan Jennings. That's not a guarantee, but it at least seems more likely that spring 2025 will be the break-up date for San Francisco's veteran WR corps. Aiyuk and Jennings are only under contract through 2024, while Samuel has two more year on his deal but no guaranteed money after this season.

Discussing deal with team
GM John Lynch said Monday that the 49ers are having "good talks" with Aiyuk, who hasn't been at the team facility for the offseason program, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk is unlikely to show up for voluntary workouts without a new contract in hand, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll hold out from mandatory June minicamp if the two sides haven't reached an agreement by then. The 26-year-old's agent denied reports of a trade request last weekend, and it sounds like there's still hope for a long-term contract heading into the fifth and final year of Aiyuk's rookie deal. He's scheduled to make $14.12 million under the fifth-year option, whereas a multi-year deal likely would entail a large signing bonus and an annual average value well north of $20 million. Making it work for the 2024 isn't an issue, but the Niners may be hesitant to pay Aiyuk at market value long term when they already have six players scheduled for cap hits north of $20 million in 2025, including WR Deebo Samuel and TE George Kittle. Even then, it's a workable situation, as they've got a starting QB on a late-round-rookie contract and don't owe large sums of guaranteed money beyond the current year to

Trade request denied by agent
Aiyuk's agent, Ryan Williams of Athletes First, denied reports on social media Sunday that the wide receiver has requested a trade from the 49ers, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's contract status has been a matter of intense speculation throughout the offseason, with San Francisco GM John Lynch saying in late February that the organization is seeking a long-term contract extension with the wideout and then denying reports that the 49ers were engaged in trade discussions regarding Aiyuk about a month later. While some chatter surfaced Sunday suggesting that Aiyuk had officially requested a trade out of San Francisco, his agent swiftly shot down the sources of that information on social media, so the status of the receiver's contract talks with the organization that drafted him in 2020 remains uncertain. An extension isn't a necessity for Aiyuk to suit up for the 49ers next season -- he could play out the 2024 campaign with the club on his fifth-year option and then hit free agency next offseason
Mar 25, 2024
Team denies trade rumors
General manager John Lynch said Monday that the 49ers have not engaged in trade discussions regarding Aiyuk, but that both sides continue to engage in active talks about a contract extension, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynch also noted that San Francisco would be amicable to Aiyuk simply playing out the 2024 season on his fifth-year option, an outcome that would position the young wideout to hit free agency next offseason. The 2020 first-round pick recorded a 75-1,342-7 receiving line across 16 regular-season games last year, and while his skills are certainly central to the 49ers' offense and Brock Purdy's continued success, the team is tight against the cap with a star-studded list of skill-position players that also includes Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle (groin). Trade rumors may continue to surround Aiyuk this offseason even after Lynch's denial, but considering San Francisco's status as a win-now roster and high-end contender in the NFC, the team likely places extreme value on the 26-year-old wideout's continued presence, even if only for the short term.

49ers seeking extension
General manager John Lynch said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that San Francisco wants a long-term extension for Aiyuk, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynch spoke strongly about Aiyuk's future, saying "we've got a nice track record of extending guys and [Aiyuk] is a guy we'd like to keep around." Now entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, and coming off a standout 75-1,342-7 receiving line across 16 games in 2023, Aiyuk will be set for a big payday regardless of whether he gets an extension from the 49ers or on the free agent market next offseason. Aiyuk has improved upon his yardage and touchdown totals with each season in the NFL, so it wouldn't be unheard of for him to take another step forward during the 2024 campaign.

Gains 49 yards in SB loss
Aiyuk had three receptions on six targets for 49 yards in a 25-22 overtime loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk made an impact on a couple of lengthy receptions in Sunday's narrow loss, but it wasn't enough to stop Patrick Mahomes and co. from winning back-to-back Lombardi Trophies. Aiyuk's fantasy season was a success after posting a 75/1342/7 receiving line across 16 starts with San Francisco. Now entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, we should expect another season of strong output from the dynamic wideout as Aiyuk looks to earn his first big-bank contract at the conclusion of the 2024 campaign.
Jan 28, 2024
Channels ladybug luck for TD
Aiyuk had three receptions on eight targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 playoff win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk finished with three receptions for the second consecutive playoff game, but he was far more productive this time around compared to 3-32-0 line he posted against the Packers in the divisional round. The athletic wideout made his mark on the highlight reel when he caught a pass that caromed off of both the hands and helmet of a diving Detroit defender before a leaping Aiyuk secured it for a 51-yard gain. Quarterback Brock Purdy awarded his receiver's efforts with a short touchdown pass just a few plays later. After the game Aiyuk was asked about the absurd catch, to which he credited a ladybug landing on his foot during pregame warmups. The 49ers are hoping to channel more of that luck when the team prepares to face Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11.
Jan 21, 2024
Quiet despite Deebo exit
Aiyuk secured three of six targets for 32 yards in the 49ers' 24-21 divisional-round win over the Packers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk had an underwhelming night by any measure, but especially within the context of Deebo Samuel exiting the game for good in the first half due to a shoulder injury. Aiyuk recorded a career-best 1,342 yards on the strength of a career-high 28 receptions of 20+ yards across 16 regular-season games; therefore, despite Saturday's downturn, Aiyuk, who tallied three 100-yard efforts in his last four full games of the campaign, should have a strong chance to bounce back against the vulnerable secondary of either the Buccaneers or Lions in an NFC Championship Game matchup on Sunday, Jan. 28.
Jan 7, 2024
Little work in Week 18
Aiyuk finished with three receptions on four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was one of only two key offensive players to suit up for the 49ers in a game that did not affect the team's standing as the NFC's No. 1 seed. Both he and Deebo Samuel got light work with three touches apiece while Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle all sat this one out. Aiyuk concludes the 2023 regular season with a new career high in receiving yards (1,332) to go along with 75 receptions and seven touchdowns. The budding star will now turn to the upcoming playoff schedule, which will commence for San Francisco on either Jan. 20 or Jan. 21.
Dec 31, 2023
Another 100-yard performance
Aiyuk recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 114 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk accounted for four of the 49ers' five longest plays from scrimmage with catches of 38, 22 and 17 yards (twice). As a result, he was able to reach 100 yards for the third time in his last four games. Aiyuk also found the end zone for the first time since Week 13, helping the 49ers clinch the top seed in the NFC with a game-clinching touchdown early in the fourth quarter. With their seed locked in, the team could opt to rest Aiyuk and other starters in Week 18 against the Rams.
Dec 26, 2023
Bounces back in big way
Aiyuk hauled in six of his seven targets for 113 yards in Monday's 33-19 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk bounced back from his worst fantasy game to date in 2023 to record his sixth 100-yard game of the season against Baltimore. The Arizona State product also finished with the best catch rate (85.7 percent) out of San Francisco's quartet of playmakers on a night where quarterback Brock Purdy (neck) uncharacteristically threw four interceptions before exiting late to injury. Assuming his quarterback's removal from Monday's ugly loss was of the precautionary nature, Aiyuk could be in store for another big receiving line against Washington's 31st-ranked pass defense on Dec. 31.
Dec 17, 2023
Lowest yardage total of 2023
Aiyuk finished with three receptions on five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 45-29 rout of the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Christian McCaffrey (three touchdowns) and Deebo Samuel (4-48-2) did the brunt of the damage in the box score Sunday, leaving little work for Aiyuk who finished with his lowest yardage output in a single game this year. The 25-year-old was coming off of a five-game string of strong performances, so managers should continue to roll the fantasy stud out there without hesitation. Aiyuk will attempt to bounce back when the 49ers host the Ravens for Monday Night Football in Week 16.
Dec 10, 2023
Encroaches century mark
Aiyuk had six receptions on nine targets for 126 yards while also losing a fumble in Sunday's 28-16 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was unable to extend his touchdown streak to five games, but he managed to record his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season while also clinching the second 1,000-yard season of his young career. The route technician had a rare mistep early in the contest that resulted in an interception for quarterback Brock Purdy. Aiyuk's follies continued when he was gunning for a long touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter, only to have the ball punched out from behind by a trailing defender for the wideout's first fumble lost in 2023. The 25-year-old still spit out a solid fantasy line despite his mental miscues Sunday, highlighting how consistent and valuable the rising star has been week in and week out this season. Aiyuk will look to build on his new career high of 1,063 receiving yards when the 49ers take on the Cardinals next Sunday.
Dec 3, 2023
Scores sixth touchdown Sunday
Aiyuk had five receptions on seven targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-19 rout of the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk stayed hot with his fourth touchdown in as many weeks Sunday, bringing his season totals up to 50/927/6 in 11 games played. The 25-year-old's seven targets wound up leading the team after being limited to just four against Seattle in Week 12. Aiyuk will attempt to extend his scoring streak to five games when the 49ers face the aforementioned Seahawks for the second time in three weeks next Sunday.
Nov 24, 2023
Makes most of two receptions
Aiyuk had two receptions on four targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 31-13 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's two catches finished as his lowest total through 10 active games this season, but the YAC monster still generated strong fantasy value despite Thursday's depressed usage. The 25-year-old has produced at least 50 receiving yards and a touchdown in each of San Francisco's three games since returning from a bye. Aiyuk now sits 69 yards away from recording his second consecutive 1,000-yard season, but he will have to earn every one against Philadelphia's tough defense when the two NFC powerhouses meet Dec. 2.
Nov 19, 2023
Huge day against Bucs
Aiyuk caught five of six targets for 156 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-14 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Despite the relatively low target volume, the fourth-year wideout set a new career high in receiving yards on the day, highlighted by a 76-yard TD from Brock Purdy early in the third quarter. Aiyuk has delivered triple-digit yardage in four of nine games so far in 2023, and he's on pace to shatter last year's career-best 1,015 yards.
Nov 12, 2023
Opens scoring in Week 10 win
Aiyuk caught all three of his targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-3 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk opened the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown catch in the fourth minute of the game, and the 49ers never looked back as they convincingly snapped a three-game losing streak. The 25-year-old wide receiver has exceeded 50 yards in all but one game this season, but the touchdown was Aiyuk's first since he scored twice in the season opener. With Deebo Samuel (shoulder) back in the mix, the 49ers will have their entire assortment of playmakers healthy for a Week 11 home game against the Buccaneers.
Oct 29, 2023
Productive in upset loss
Aiyuk brought in five of nine targets for 109 yards in the 49ers' 31-17 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk finished second in receiving yards on the afternoon for the 49ers, eclipsing the century mark for the third time this season in the process. The fourth-year pro has been a solid component of the passing attack throughout the campaign, but he could see his targets take a bit of a hit if Deebo Samuel (shoulder) returns as expected for a Week 10 road matchup against the Jaguars following a Week 9 bye.
Oct 24, 2023
Modest production in loss
Aiyuk had five receptions on six targets for 57 yards in Monday's 22-17 loss to Minnesota,
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk took over as San Francisco's No. 1 wideout with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) expected to miss multiple weeks to injury. The elevated role did not produce more targets for Aiyuk, who finished with a stat line right around the four receptions and 67 yards he averaged over his previous two contests. The 25-year-old is providing steady production through seven weeks, but a recent lack of touchdowns (none since Week 1) has limited his fantasy value. Aiyuk is still considered a strong play heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Bengals on Sunday.
Oct 15, 2023
Leading receiver for banged up SF
Aiyuk caught four of 10 targets for 76 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was the only player with more than four targets for San Francisco in a game that both Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and Christian McCaffrey (oblique) left early. He accounted for 76 of Brock Purdy's 125 passing yards, including a pair of catches for 33 yards on San Francisco's final drive, which ended in a 41-yard missed field goal in the final seconds. Regardless of the availability of San Francisco's other playmakers, Aiyuk should maintain a prominent role in Week 7 against the Vikings on MNF. Aiyuk has 25 catches for 454 yards through six games, but he hasn't found the end zone since scoring twice in Week 1.
Oct 9, 2023
Contributes 58 yards in win
Aiyuk caught four of seven targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 42-10 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk finished with a modest fantasy line as quarterback Brock Purdy spread the ball around to all of his star playmakers in the blowout victory. Aiyuk's 58 receiving yards wound up being the game high for wideouts from either team Sunday, finishing only behind tight end George Kittle who had 67 yards to go along with his three touchdown grabs. The fourth-year receiver is now averaging 97.5 yards over four active games this season after gaining 59.7 per game during his breakout campaign last year. Aiyuk and the undefeated 49ers will head on the road for Week 6 to face the Browns next Sunday.
Oct 1, 2023
Provides 148 yards in return
Aiyuk (shoulder) corralled all six of his targets for 148 yards in Sunday's 35-16 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was able to return in full capacity after sitting out the 49ers' last game with a minor shoulder injury. The budding fantasy star continued his hot start by breaking the century mark in receiving yards for the second time in three attempts after achieving that feat just once in 2022. Aiyuk has amassed 320 receiving yards on just 20 targets, putting his unique combination of athletic playmaking and sure hands on display against an outmatched Arizona secondary. Now back at full strength, Aiyuk will shift his focus to a Week 4 matchup against a Cowboys team that is without top corner Trevon Diggs (knee) next Sunday
Sep 29, 2023
Wheels up for Week 4
Aiyuk (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk has been practicing all week and might've been able to play in last week's game if the Niners had played on Sunday instead of Thursday. Deebo Samuel took advantage of Aiyuk's absence with 126 yards and a TD on 12 targets, but the dual-threat receiver suffered a rib injury in the process and now is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Facing a vulnerable defense without Samuel in the lineup is a best-case scenario for Aiyuk's expected production, though he still has sturdy touch/target competition coming from TE George Kittle and RB Christian McCaffrey.

Aiyuk (shoulder) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

In the process of shedding his blue non-contact jersey Thursday, Aiyuk maintained his activity level from one day prior, giving him just one more chance to get back to full before the 49ers potentially give him a designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, fellow wide receivers Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) and Jauan Jennings (shin) again didn't practice, so the status of San Francisco's top three wide receivers remains in flux.

Sheds non-contact jersey Thursday
Aiyuk (shoulder) wasn't wearing a non-contact jersey at the start of Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Now that Aiyuk seemingly has been cleared to take contact on the practice field, it remains to be seen if he'll log his first uncapped session since injuring his left shoulder Week 2. The 49ers will reveal his activity level later Thursday, at which point the statuses of Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) and Jauan Jennings (shin) also could gain some clarity.

Practices on limited basis
Aiyuk (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk continued playing Week 2 after he hurt his shoulder (against the Rams) but then missed a Week 3 win over the Giants just four days later. Reporters spotted him at practice this Monday, and he's now listed as limited on the first official injury report of the week, while Deebo Samuel (ribs) is a non-participant. Aiyuk appears on track to return for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, with Samuel potentially being the more banged up of the two WRs this week.
Sep 25, 2023
Spotted at practice Monday
Aiyuk (shoulder) was present for Monday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was inactive this past Thursday against the Giants, but his presence on the practice field Monday is a positive indicator with regard to his chances of returning to action Sunday against the Cardinals. Wednesday's official practice/injury report will add further context to the wideout's Week 4 status by clarifying his participation level.
Sep 21, 2023
Sitting out Thursday, as expected
Aiyuk (shoulder) is listed as inactive Thursday against the Giants, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk played through a left shoulder injury during the 49ers' Week 2 win at the Rams, handling 30 of 57 offensive snaps on his way to three catches (on six targets) for 43 yards. He proceeded to be listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate before capping Week 3 prep with back-to-back limited listings. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Thursday afternoon that Aiyuk was unlikely to suit up versus New York, and indeed that has come to pass. With Aiyuk sidelined, Jauan Jennings is the top candidate to absorb the former's typical workload alongside Deebo Samuel, but rookie Ronnie Bell, Ray-Ray McCloud and practice-squad call-up Chris Conley also may get in the WR mix for San Francisco.
Sep 21, 2023
Likely to sit out Thursday
Aiyuk (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Giants, isn't expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's status will be confirmed approximately 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, when the 49ers release their inactive list. With Aiyuk on track to miss the Week 3 contest, Jauan Jennings, Ronnie Bell and Ray-Ray McCloud could be all be in store for expanded opportunities in both two- and three-receiver sets, though No. 1 wideout Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey profile as quarterback Brock Purdy's top three options in the passing game.
Sep 20, 2023
Questionable for Thursday
Aiyuk (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Giants, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers posted practice estimates Monday and Tuesday, which included Aiyuk as a non-participant on the first one and limited on the second. He was able to play through a left shoulder injury that he suffered early on in this past Sunday's road win against the Rams, logging 52 percent of the offensive snaps en route to three catches (on six targets) for 43 yards. Aiyuk's availability Thursday will become known about 90 minutes before an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he's limited or inactive, Jauan Jennings and Ronnie Bell would stand to benefit behind Deebo Samuel.
Sep 19, 2023
Slated for limited practice
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Aiyuk (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk had been listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report, but the receiver will apparently be able to log some reps Tuesday when the 49ers actually take the field. Because the 49ers are facing a quick turnaround from this past Sunday's win over the Rams, Aiyuk may not have enough time to fully move past his left shoulder injury ahead of Thursday's game agains the Giants. At this stage of the week, Shanahan labeled Aiyuk as a game-time decision ahead of Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 18, 2023
Dealing with shoulder issue
Aiyuk (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimation, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site, a left shoulder injury kept Aiyuk out for a select number of plays during Sunday's 30-23 win over the Rams, so the wideout's status will need to be monitored as Thursday night's game against the Giants approaches. In the 30 snaps on offense (out of a possible 57) that Aiyuk logged versus Los Angeles, the 49ers' starting WR caught three of his six targets for 43 yards.
Sep 17, 2023
Plays through shoulder injury
Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Aiyuk suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's win over the Rams that limited his playing time, according to 49ers' team reporter Lindsey Pallares.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was able to finish the game and post a final line of three catches (six targets) for 43 yards and no scores. The 25-year-old suffered the shoulder injury in the first quarter and was seen being worked on by trainers at various points of contest. Aiyuk didn't appear limited when he would return to action, which is a positive sign for his availability moving forward. That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see Aiyuk's name pop up on the injury report with a Thursday matchup against the Bengals on tap for Week 3.
Sep 10, 2023
Scores twice in Week 1
Aiyuk caught all eight of his targets for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-7 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk capped San Francisco's first possession of the season with an eight-yard touchdown catch, then made a contested catch with cornerback Patrick Peterson draped all over him in the front corner of the end zone for a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He accounted for both of Brock Purdy's touchdown passes as the 49ers excelled in all phases in Week 1. Aiyuk had 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022, so he's already a quarter of the way to last season's TD total heading into a Week 2 road game against the Rams.
Aug 25, 2023
Hauls in 35-yard pass
Aiyuk caught one of three targets for 35 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel each accounted for three of Brock Purdy's nine pass attempts as the 49ers' starters easily made their way down the field against the Chargers' backups. Things might not look so easy Week 1 at Pittsburgh, though the cornerbacks are probably the relative weak point of an otherwise stellar Steelers defense.
Aug 20, 2023
Sees first action of 2023
Aiyuk hauled in his lone target for 15 yards in Saturday's 21-20 preseason win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk got his first taste of action this preseason along with the rest of the starting wideouts Saturday. San Francisco also welcomed back starting quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) from injury, who found Aiyuk for a 15-yard gain on the first-team offense's lone drive. The 2020 first-round pick blossomed into a reliable fantasy option last season after posting a career-best 78/1015/8 receiving line across 17 games. Deebo Samuel is still the 49ers' top option at wide receiver, but Aiyuk could narrow that gap if he takes another step forward heading into the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.
Aug 19, 2023
In line to play Saturday
Aiyuk is in uniform for Saturday's preseason contest versus the Broncos, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
With Brock Purdy expected to see his first game action since he injured his right throwing elbow in last season's NFC Championship Game loss in Philadelphia, he's slated to have his top two wide receivers available in Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. In the upcoming campaign, Aiyuk will be looking to replicate his breakout 2022 in which he hauled in 78 passes for 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 contests.
Jun 14, 2023
Looking to build on strong 2022
Aiyuk has been standing out early in San Francisco's offseason team activities, Jerry McDonald of The Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Fellow starter Deebo Samuel has yet to participate in OTAs, leaving Aiyuk to operate as the 49ers' top wideout in camp. The 25-year-old has taken advantage of that opportunity, impressing the coaching staff with his play early in team practices according to reports. Aiyuk is coming off of his best year as a pro (78/1,015/8) in 2022, and it appears he is pushing to take yet another step forward this season.
Apr 28, 2023
Gets fifth-year option
The 49ers picked up the fifth-year option on Aiyuk's rookie contract Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
San Francisco thus will lock in one of their top skill-position threats through the 2024 season. The 25th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, Aiyuk is coming off his first 1,000-yard season, settling with a 78-1,015-8 line on a career-high 114 targets. In the fall, he'll continue to work in tandem with fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel in the 49ers' starting lineup.

Jan 29, 2023
Held to one catch in loss
Aiyuk caught his lone target for 10 yards in Sunday's 31-7 NFC Champion Game loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers suffered injuries to both of its active quarterbacks in this crushing playoff loss, resulting in down receiving games for Aiyuk and the rest of the receiving unit. It was a salty finish to positive season for the 24-year-old, who set new career highs in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,015) and touchdowns (eight). Aiyuk will enter the final year of his rookie contract looking to build off of the strides he made in 2022.
Jan 23, 2023
Struggles in divisional round
Aiyuk had two receptions (four targets) for 26 yards in Sunday's 19-12 playoff win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk turned in one of his worst statistical performances of the entire year, tying his season-low in receptions (two) while garnering his second-lowest target total (four). The 24-year-old has fallen out of favor in the playoffs with Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey dominating recent box scores. That being said, Aiyuk still possesses the fantasy potential to warrant consideration in DFS formats for the upcoming NFC Championship Game against the Eagles next Sunday.
Jan 14, 2023
Effective despite low usage
Aiyuk caught three of five targets for 73 yards in Saturday's 41-23 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk took a bit of a back seat to Deebo Samuel (6-133-1), who reclaimed his No. 1 role after being eased back into the lineup in the regular-season finale. The 24-year-old still produced a solid fantasy line with a couple of big chunk plays, although he did drop a would-be touchdown that hit him in the hands in the corner of the end zone. Even with the 49ers returning to full strength on offense, Aiyuk should remain a consistent DFS option heading into the divisional round.
Jan 8, 2023
Leads team with 59 yards
Aiyuk had four receptions (five targets) for 59 yards in Sunday's 38-13 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was the leading receiver for San Francisco on a low-volume passing day, but it was his teammates George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey who cashed in on Brock Purdy's three touchdown throws. The 24-year-old finishes the regular season with career highs in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,015) and touchdowns (eight) across 17 games. Aiyuk welcomed back fellow starting wideout Deebo Samuel (ankle/knee) Sunday, giving the 49ers a full complement of playmakers who could go off in the playoffs.
Jan 1, 2023
First 100-yard game this season
Aiyuk had nine receptions (12 targets) for 101 yards and a touchdown while rushing once for 16 yards in Sunday's 37-34 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk did his best Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle) impression in potentially his last game replacing his injured teammate, taking his second carry of the season for 16 yards on a designed end around. The 24-year-old also produced his first 100-yard receiving game of the season, but that's not to say that he hasn't provided consistent fantasy numbers all year long. Aiyuk will carry a healthy 74-956-8 receiving line into a favorable matchup against the Cardinals in Week 18.
Dec 24, 2022
Bounces back with solid effort
Aiyuk hauled in five of seven targets for 81 yards in Saturday's 37-20 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was coming off of his worst fantasy outing of the season (2/19/0), so Saturday's return to normalcy was a welcomed sight for his managers. The 24-year-old also set a new career high in receiving yards (855) despite catching balls from three different quarterbacks this season, which is a testament to the strides the wideout has made in his third year as a pro. Aiyuk will look to finish his career year in style with two favorable matchups against Arizona in Week 18 and Oakland next Sunday.
Dec 16, 2022
Quiet night in win
Aiyuk brought in two of four targets for 19 yards in the 49ers' 21-13 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Even with Deebo Samuel (knee) sidelined, Aiyuk filled only a modest role in the 49ers' latest victory. However, rookie quarterback Brock Purdy spread the ball around to six targets overall, and the George Kittle-Christian McCaffrey trio handled the heaviest pass-catching workload overall. Aiyuk could have a larger role in a Week 16 home matchup a week from Saturday versus a Commanders secondary that's given up some chunk plays through the air this season.
Dec 11, 2022
Connects with new QB for TD
Aiyuk caught two of three targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-7 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk led all San Francisco receiving options in yards despite finishing with just two receptions. The 23-year-old also managed to chip in his seventh touchdown despite the low volume, rewarding fantasy managers who stuck with the wideout with a rookie third-stringer under center. Brock Purdy proved he could handle the pressure of his first NFL start by finding Aiyuk on a 32-yard strike to put the 49ers up 21-0 at the end of the first half. San Francisco will likely be without the services of Deebo Samuel (ankle) on a short week, so Aiyuk should see increased usage against the Seahawks on Thursday.
Dec 4, 2022
Modest output against MIA
Aiyuk caught five of nine targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 33-17 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) was knocked out of the game after one offensive drive, forcing rookie Brock Purdy into action for the remainder of the game. Aiyuk saw his usual allotment of targets with the 49ers' third quarterback this season, but half of his production came on the aforementioned first drive of the game. With Jimmy G already being ruled out for the remainder of the season, the blossoming wideout figures to take a slight hit in value with the downgrade at quarterback. That said, Aiyuk should maintain flex appeal heading into a Week 14 tilt against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Nov 27, 2022
Paces team with 65 yards
Aiyuk hauled in five of eight targets for 65 yards in Sunday's 13-0 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk led all 49ers position players with 65 yards from scrimmage in this low-scoring affair. The 24-year-old is averaging 4.6 catches and 59.3 yards with six total touchdowns in 11 games this season. Aiyuk is proving to be a reliable WR2 in fantasy this year, and should continue to be in a potential high-scoring affair against Miami on Sunday.
Nov 22, 2022
Makes most of minimal targets
Aiyuk recorded two receptions on four targets for 20 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 38-10 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk saw his lowest target total since Week 5, as each of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle played a more prominent role in the passing attack. Even so, Aiyuk managed a strong fantasy performance by tallying touchdowns on each of his receptions from seven and 13 yards away, respectively. Aiyuk now has five touchdowns across his last five games, and he's also topped 80 receiving yards on four occasions in that span.
Nov 14, 2022
Paces team in receiving again
Aiyuk caught six of seven targets for 84 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk continued to produce like the 49ers' top wideout even with Deebo Samuel (hamstring) back in action. The 24-year-old did lose a fumble early in the game, the only blemish on his fourth straight game with 80 or more receiving yards. Aiyuk is beginning to deliver on some of that first-round potential the 49ers saw when they selected him in 2020, while also evolving into an asset fantasy managers can trust during this current hot streak. The YAC machine will look to stay hot against the Cardinals in Mexico City next Monday.
Oct 30, 2022
Leads team in receiving
Aiyuk corralled all six of his targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
San Francisco was without top wideout Deebo Samuel (hamstring), so Aiyuk was able to produce another strong fantasy performance. The 24-year-old has been on fire of late, averaging 7.0/82.0/1.0 over his last three games. The former first-round pick is also on pace to set new career highs across the board with a healthy 38/483/4 line through eight games heading into the upcoming bye week. Aiyuk and the 49ers will resume action against the Chargers in Week 10.
Oct 23, 2022
Team-high 11 targets in loss
Aiyuk had seven receptions (11 targets) for 82 yards in Sunday's 44-23 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk stayed hot with another 80-plus yard game while garnering 11 targets for the second week in a row. The 24-year-old wasn't able to reproduce the two touchdowns from Week 6, but fantasy managers have to be happy with another high-volume game. The addition of Christian McCaffrey could eat into Aiyuk's recent uptick in targets once the dual-threat running back becomes familiar with San Francisco's playbook. For now, the former first-round pick is looking like a hot fantasy asset heading into a matchup against the Rams next Sunday.
Oct 16, 2022
Goes off for two scores
Aiyuk corralled eight of 11 targets for 83 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk turned in a career performance off the backs of two second-quarter touchdowns from Jimmy Garoppolo. Unfortunately for San Francisco, those would be the only trips to the end zone made by the offense in an upset loss. The 24-year-old was averaging 47.4 yards and just one total touchdown over his previous five contests, so it's tough to get too excited about this impressive fantasy line. That said, the 49ers may be forced to throw heavily when taking on the Chiefs next Sunday, so Aiyuk carries flex appeal in most formats and could be a popular value DFS play in Week 7.
Oct 9, 2022
Leading receiver in Week 5 win
Aiyuk caught three of four targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 37-15 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Despite the low target volume, Aiyuk led the 49ers in receiving yards on the day, although George Kittle led the team with five receptions and Deebo Samuel boosted his production with a TD. Aiyuk has yet to catch more than five passes or top 63 yards in a game this season, but he's capable of a breakout in Week 6 against the Falcons' erratic secondary.
Oct 3, 2022
Four catches on MNF
Aiyuk caught all four of his targets for 37 yards in Monday's 24-9 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk ranked second on the team in targets, catches and receiving yards, but he was nowhere near team leader Deebo Samuel, who turned seven targets into six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. Heading into a Week 5 visit to Carolina, Aiyuk has 14 catches for 179 yards and one touchdown.
Sep 26, 2022
Scores lone offensive touchdown
Aiyuk caught three of eight targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk looked poised for a big fantasy game when he caught two of his three catches (including the score) on the 49ers' second drive of the game. Unfortunately for his fantasy managers, both Aiyuk and the rest of San Francisco's offense would go dormant for the rest of the contest. On the positive side of things, the 24-year-old has seen his targets increase to eight in each of the two games Jimmy Garoppolo has played in this season, after only seeing three targets with Trey Lance (knee) as the starter in Week 1. Aiyuk carries FLEX appeal heading into a matchup against the Rams next Monday.
Sep 18, 2022
Leading receiver against Seattle
Aiyuk caught five of eight targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 27-7 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout led the 49ers in targets and receiving yards while tying Deebo Samuel in receptions, and the early switch under center from Trey Lance (ankle) to Jimmy Garoppolo didn't seem to have an impact on his role or production. With Samuel splitting his time between the backfield and his receiving role once again while Elijah Mitchell (knee) is on IR, Aiyuk could be San Francisco's de facto No. 1 WR in a somewhat more pass-oriented offense under Garoppolo heading into a Week 3 clash with the Broncos.
Sep 12, 2022
Gains 47 yards on three touches
Aiyuk caught both of his targets for 40 yards and received one carry for seven yards in Sunday's 19-10 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
This game was messy in terms of weather and fantasy production, so Aiyuk coming up with 47 yards on just three touches is not bad, all things considered. There is a lot of offensive upside at the skill positions for the 49ers, despite the rest of the team's roster having glaring holes and immediate injury issues. Aiyuk is still a player worth holding until we get a better look at how this offense churns out stats with Trey Lance at the helm. That next opportunity comes in a much-sunnier venue next Sunday when the 49ers take on the Seahawks at Levi's Stadium.
Aug 25, 2022
Suits up Thursday
Aiyuk didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 17-0 preseason loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Trey Lance looked Aiyuk's way on the game's opening drive, but the pass fell incomplete. San Francisco's offense couldn't get anything going in this preseason finale, but Lance only played the first three drives, so it's far from panic time as far as the likes of Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are concerned.
Aug 25, 2022
May play Thursday
Aiyuk is in uniform and appears set to play in Thursday's preseason game at Houston, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for quarterback Trey Lance, fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle, meaning coach Kyle Shanahan is setting up the 49ers for a dress rehearsal before Week 1. It's unlikely Aiyuk and company will log more than a series or two, but he'll be seeing his first in-game reps since January's NFC Championship Game loss to the Rams.
Aug 20, 2022
Unlikely to play
Aiyuk isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Minnesota, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for TE George Kittle and fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel, the two other candidates to lead San Francisco in targets this year. It may be a matter of usage rather than skill, given that Samuel has value as a rusher and Kittle as a blocker. Aiyuk is the least proven of the trio, but also the one whose role is most heavily centered on catching passes.
Aug 12, 2022
Sitting out Friday
Aiyuk isn't slated to play in Friday's preseason game versus the Packers, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel, running back Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) and tight end George Kittle. With Samuel and Aiyuk in street clothes, Jauan Jennings, Danny Gray and Ray-Ray McCloud, among others, are the WRs available to the 49ers.
Aug 9, 2022
Praised by veteran teammates
Aiyuk has made a strong impression on teammates and reporters alike, with safety Jimmie Ward saying the wideout is "taking his game to another level" and ESPN's Nick Wagoner calling him "the team's most consistent offensive performer" at training camp.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk certainly won't be the best player in an offense with Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Trent Williams, but it does seem teammates -- including Ward and LB Fred Warner -- expect Aiyuk to at least approach that level. Warner and Aiyuk made headlines for a couple of brawls in training camp, with the linebacker saying afterward that he'd specifically chosen to antagonize the wideout to bring out the best in him. Camp hype aside, Aiyuk is locked in as a starter and should form a three-headed monster with Samuel and Kittle as the lead pass catchers, giving 22-year-old QB Trey Lance all the help he can ask for. Camp reports on Lance have been far less optimistic than those on Aiyuk, and it remains to be seen how much coach Kyle Shanahan trusts his young passer to throw on early downs.
Aug 5, 2022
Shining in training camp
Aiyuk has excelled in training camp for the 49ers, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk reportedly struggled in spring practices, but his play in training camp has earned rave reviews. The 2020 first-round pick was in the doghouse early last season but stepped up his play in the second half of 2021 and appears poised to pick up where he left off late last season.
Jul 11, 2022
Uneven at spring practices
Aiyuk spent time working with Trey Lance during the offseason, but the two weren't always on the same page during spring practices, according to Jack Hammer of The Press Democrat.
ANALYSIS
It's a small sample of non-contact practices, but there is some extra attention on Aiyuk after a poor 2021 offseason led to a role reduction in September and early October. The 2020 first-round pick improved throughout the year and ultimately finished with a respectable total of 826 receiving yards, albeit with 12 fewer targets than in his rookie season despite playing five more games. The switch to Lance at QB may also prove problematic for Aiyuk's target volume, as the 2021 third overall pick looked more adept as a runner than as a passer in limited playing time during his rookie year. There is opportunity for Aiyuk to learn a large share of what likely will be a lower-volume passing game, as TE George Kittle always loses some pass snaps to blocking and WR Deebo Samuel may get a bunch of his touches on the ground again.
Jan 30, 2022
Sees eight targets to close out '21
Aiyuk hauled in four of eight targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk bounced back from a zero-touch outing in the 49ers' win over the Packers in the divisional round, finishing first in targets and second in receiving behind Deebo Samuel (4-72-1). The 23-year-old finished the regular season with roughly the same amount of production (843 combined yards and five TDs) as we saw in his rookie year (825 combined yards and seven TDs). It is worth noting that a good portion of those stats came in the second half after he worked his way out of Kyle Shanahan's doghouse to begin the year. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are the proven superstars on this offense, but Aiyuk has the YAC ability to post some meaningful fantasy lines in 2022 if he can carry over his late-season momentum, especially if Trey Lance takes over as starting quarterback and opens up what was a limited game plan under Jimmy Garoppolo.
Jan 23, 2022
Non-factor in win over GB
Aiyuk was held without a carry or reception while receiving one target in Saturday's 13-10 win over Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
This was a slogging and treacherous contest as both teams battled a combination of great defensive play and the freezing elements of Lambeau Field. Aiyuk was one of the first wideouts to be targeted by Jimmy Garoppolo in the opening offensive drive of the game, but the wideout had the ball knocked loose on what was initially ruled a catch and fumble. The 23-year-old was not targeted for the remainder of the game, but that likely had more to do with Jimmy Garoppolo's (thumb/shoulder) lackluster play. With next week's tilt going to be played either in a dome in Los Angeles or in the usually-warm Tampa Bay climate, Aiyuk could be in line for a bounce-back performance while also possibly carrying a sleeper price tag in DFS formats after this week's zero burger.
Jan 16, 2022
Leading receiver against Dallas
Aiyuk caught five of six targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Cowboys in the wild-card round.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout was Jimmy Garoppolo's favorite target on the afternoon, leading the 49ers in catches, targets and receiving yards as the team mostly kept the ball on the ground. With Garoppolo still nursing a thumb injury, that formula isn't likely to change next weekend in the divisional round against the Packers, so Aiyuk will likely need to score to make a big fantasy splash.
Jan 9, 2022
Leads team with 107 yards
Aiyuk caught six of seven targets for 107 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk played a key role in the passing game for the 49ers, delivering on a couple of big plays at the end of the first half and also in overtime to help San Francisco secure a playoff berth. The 23-year-old began his sophomore campaign in the doghouse, but he finished strong with 68.5 receiving yards per game and four touchdowns over the last 10 games of the season. Aiyuk didn't deliver on his sleeper status in 2021, but he may get another chance come draft season following his strong finish to the regular season. That will be down the road, but for now, Aiyuk will play an integral role in the passing attack when the 49ers face the Cowboys next week.
Jan 2, 2022
Leads team with 94 receiving yards
Aiyuk corralled four of six targets for 94 yards in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk collected 94 of rookie Trey Lance's 249 passing yards, most of which came in the second half of this contest. Deebo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell (knee) were the recipients of Lance's two touchdown throws, but Aiyuk set up both scores with big chunk plays between the 20s. The rookie quarterback was inconsistent at times, but he eventually got the ball into most of his playmakers' hands. Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is considered questionable for the team's Week 18 finale against the Rams, but Aiyuk will retain modest fantasy value with either of San Francisco's potential starting quarterbacks.
Dec 24, 2021
Finds end zone in loss
Aiyuk brought in four of five targets for 40 yards and a touchdown and returned one punt for 12 yards in the 49ers' 20-17 loss to the Titans on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk would have had a pedestrian fantasy night overall had it not been for his two-yard game-tying touchdown grab with 2:20 remaining. The second-year wideout has now been at 55 yards or less in three of his past four games, although he does now have a touchdown in two straight. Aiyuk's next opportunity to build up his numbers comes in a Week 17 home matchup against the Texans a week from Sunday.
Dec 19, 2021
One catch in win
Aiyuk had one reception (two targets) for 36 yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel (4-60-0) appeared to flip their recent roles in the pass game, with the latter maintaining his role as a backfield threat (6-29-1 rushing). At least Aiyuk was able to break off his lone touch for 36 yards, one week after putting his YAC skills on display with a game-ending touchdown in overtime against the Bengals last week. Despite the low output Sunday, the 23-year-old remains a fantasy-relevant option with averages of 4.1 receptions and 63.4 yards with three total touchdowns over his last seven contests. The 49ers will take on the Titans on Thursday, who currently surrender the 31st-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts this year.
Dec 12, 2021
Overtime hero against Cincinnati
Aiyuk caught six of 11 targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 overtime win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
He also gained four yards on his only carry. With Elijah Mitchell (concussion) sidelined and Deebo Samuel seeing most of his work out of the backfield again, Aiyuk was the Niners' top wideout, and he wound up scoring the winning TD on a 12-yard catch-and-run in overtime. The second-year player has topped 50 receiving yards in four straight games, posting a 19-293-2 line on 30 targets over that stretch, and he figures to have a prominent role again in Week 15 against the Falcons.
Dec 5, 2021
Only three catches Sunday
Aiyuk caught three of six targets for 55 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
While he posted decent numbers, Aiyuk wasn't able to take advantage of the absence of Deebo Samuel (groin) to have a breakout, as instead George Kittle was the one who put together a monster performance. Aiyuk has compiled a 29-391-2 line on 38 targets over the last six games, giving him a fairly solid floor heading into a Week 14 tilt against the Bengals.
Dec 3, 2021
More targets sans Deebo?
Aiyuk should be key for the 49ers' passing game with fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel (groin) ruled out for Sunday's contest in Seattle, Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to the opportunity for added targets, Aiyuk seems to be on the same page with coach Kyle Shanahan, both agreeing that the wideout has come a long way since he was reduced to a part-time role sharing snaps with Trent Sherfield early in the season. Samuel's absence for Week 13 (and possibly Week 14) leaves Aiyuk and TE George Kittle as the far-and-away top options for QB Jimmy Garoppolo, who has led the team to three straight wins while attempting 26 or fewer passes in each game. Aiyuk has done much better of late even with Samuel and Kittle competing for Garoppolo's attention, averaging 4.6 catches for 67.2 yards and 0.4 TDS on 6.4 targets in Weeks 8-12.
Nov 28, 2021
Leading receiver in win
Aiyuk caught three of six targets for 91 yards in Sunday's 34-28 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
He also gained four rushing yards on one carry. Deebo Samuel (groin) was doing most of his damage out of the backfield, leaving Aiyuk to lead the Niners in receiving yards while setting a new season high in the category. If Samuel's injury proves to be serious, Aiyuk will take on an even bigger role in Week 13 against the Seahawks.
Nov 21, 2021
Automatic on seven targets
Aiyuk caught seven passes for 85 yards and one touchdown on seven targets against Jacksonville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Given the last month of improved production, it's hopefully safe to say by now that Aiyuk is free from whatever limitations he had to begin the year. While he can't always count on drawing seven of the team's 22 targets like he did here, and he especially can't count on catching every target that heads his way, Aiyuk's explosiveness speaks for itself on the field and play like what he showed Sunday will keep him involved in the San Francisco game plan. He's still probably third in line behind Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, but a Week 12 matchup against Minnesota is promising on paper.
Nov 15, 2021
Makes three grabs
Aiyuk caught three of four targets for 26 yards in Monday night's 31-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk didn't approach his production from last week's breakout, but he still showed his exciting after-the-catch ability with a 21-yard gain during the first half. With the Niners leading comfortably for the majority of Monday's contest, resulting in 44 rushing attempts, only tight end George Kittle saw more than five targets. Although San Francisco will strive to be similarly dominant in Week 11 versus Jacksonville, Aiyuk's matchup could enable him to make a bigger impact.
Nov 8, 2021
Breaks out in Week 9 loss
Aiyuk caught six of eight targets for 89 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
It was by far the best performance of the year for Aiyuk, as he set season highs in catches, yards and targets while scoring his second TD of 2021 on an 11-yard strike from Jimmy Garoppolo in the third quarter. It's been a tough first half for Aiyuk, who had trouble getting out of Kyle Shanahan's doghouse and reclaiming a prime spot in the offense, but he'll take some well-earned momentum into a Week 10 clash with the Rams.
Oct 31, 2021
Season-high 45 yards
Aiyuk had four receptions (seven targets) for 45 yards in Sunday's 33-22 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk turned in his best performance of the season here in Week 8, which is more of a testament of how poorly the former first-round pick has performed this year, as opposed to a sign of things to come. With George Kittle (calf) targeting a Week 9 return, Aiyuk may see his targets reduced even further after setting a new season high of seven against Chicago. Aiyuk showed flashes of fantasy upside in his rookie campaign, so managers shouldn't write him off completely, but we need to see several weeks of useful production before recommending the wideout.
Oct 25, 2021
Nearly invisible in start
Aiyuk started and was on the field for 40 offensive snaps (71 percent), but only finished with one reception (one target) for six yards in Sunday's 30-18 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers are in desperate need of a second receiving threat behind Deebo Samuel (100 yards and a touchdown Sunday) while George Kittle (calf) mends on IR, but Aiyuk continues to provide little to no help despite getting significant playing time. The club tried explaining away the second-year wideout's struggles this year with a preseason injury, but he has been off the injury report for the last two games and had the recent bye week to rest up. Aiyuk is simply not getting the job done; and unlike the 49ers, fantasy managers have no incentive to wait around until he does.
Oct 3, 2021
Invisible again in Week 4
Aiyuk caught one of three targets for a 15-yard reception against Seattle on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's playing time picked up in recent weeks and he showed some flickers of production heading into Sunday, making this dud box score that much more disappointing. Deebo Samuel caught eight of 12 targets in the game and even Mohamed Sanu caught four of five targets, so the circumstances don't really explain Aiyuk's disappearance despite Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) leaving the game at halftime. Perhaps the 49ers will need to use Aiyuk more in Week 5, when they go on the road to face the division bully Arizona Cardinals.
Sep 27, 2021
Scores on SNF
Aiyuk caught four of six targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk finally posted a respectable stat line after ghosting fantasy managers for the first two games of the season (one reception for six yards over that span). Head coach Kyle Shanahan insisted that his wide receiver was being brought along slowly due to a preseason leg injury and not because he was in the dog house, despite the wideout never being listed on the injury report for the first three games of the season. Whatever the case may have been, this was the first game in which Aiyuk was truly treated as a starting receiver. It would still be tough to trust the 23-year-old next week against the Seahawks, but another positive outing could restore the fantasy value he squandered to begin the year.
Sep 20, 2021
Starts, but does little
Aiyuk had one reception (two targets) for six yards in Sunday's 17-11 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk returned to starting opposite Deebo Samuel after falling to fourth on the depth chart in Week 1. The 2020 first-round pick logged 54 percent of offensive snaps after being limited to just 30 percent last game. Despite the increase in playing time, Aiyuk didn't get much attention offensively. Head coach Kyle Shanahan claimed that Aiyuk's role reduction was due to a lingering hamstring injury, but the wideout has been a full participant in practices for two weeks now. It is unclear when Aiyuk will exit the "doghouse" and return to a prominent role on San Francisco's offense, but fantasy managers should definitely wait to deploy him until we see some evidence that he is truly back.
Sep 15, 2021
Needs more practice reps?
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Aiyuk should see more playing time moving forward, as long as he stays healthy and regularly participates in practice, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan has repeatedly mentioned the missed practice time when asked about Aiyuk splitting snaps with Trent Sherfield in Sunday's 41-33 win over the Lions. Most recently, Aiyuk was out for a couple weeks with a hamstring injury before returning to practice last week as a full participant Wednesday through Friday. It isn't clear if Sunday's part-time role was planned all along or not, but Aiyuk barely played in the first half (30 percent of snaps) before stepping up to 60 percent snap share after halftime. While it sounds like he'll play Week 2 at Philadelphia, it isn't clear iyuk will reclaim a full-time role. Coach Kyle Shanahan does seem fond of Sherfield, noting that Aiyuk needs to be "a lot better than the guy behind him" if he wants to return to an every-down role. Most fantasy managers took it for granted that Aiyuk was far ahead of Sherfield, but Shanahan said it wasn't a tough decision to give the latter more playing time, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. In the meantime, WR Deebo Samu

Fall in depth chart injury-related
Aiyuk (hamstring) -- who did not receive a target in Sunday's win over the Lions -- fell down the depth chart due to injury and not performance, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was a ghost in the box score in a game where the 49ers put up 41 points. The dynamic wideout had been nursing a hamstring injury this preseason, and while he wasn't listed on the pregame injury report, head coach Kyle Shanahan's explanation solves the mystery of why the 2020 first-round pick was not used. The rest of San Francisco's receiving corps excelled in their individual roles Sunday, but we have to assume that a talent like Aiyuk would reclaim his co-starting role alongside Deebo Samuel when he is fully healthy. For now, consider the wideout questionable heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Eagles until more information is given following practices this week.
Sep 8, 2021
Makes full showing Wednesday
Aiyuk (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was limited to just one appearance during exhibition season, gathering in one of three passes for three yards Aug. 22 versus the Chargers. Thereafter, a hamstring injury has been bothering him, but it's apparently dissipated enough for him to partake in all drills in the first practice of Week 1. Aiyuk will pair with Deebo Samuel to serve as the top two wide receivers in San Francisco's offense in the coming campaign.
Sep 6, 2021
Running routes Monday
Aiyuk (hamstring) ran routes and caught passes during the part of Monday's practice open to the media, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk didn't suit up for the 49ers' exhibition finale due to a minor hamstring issue. Prior to that, he made just one appearance in the preseason, hauling in one of three targets for three yards Aug. 22 against the Chargers. Last Thursday, Aiyuk was spotted running sprints on a side field, and he now has progressed enough to be a participant in practice. The 49ers will post their first Week 1 injury report Wednesday, at which point his status in advance of the opener will become more clear.
Sep 2, 2021
Looking good on side field
Aiyuk (hamstring) looked unencumbered while running sprints on a side field Thursday, and he's on track to be a full-go Week 1 at Detroit, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk has been out for about a week now, after catching one pass for three yards in San Francisco's second preseason game (his only appearance this August). A return to practice should be coming at some point within the next week, as the 49ers maintain that Aiyuk's hamstring injury is minor.
Sep 1, 2021
No activity Wednesday
Aiyuk (hamstring) didn't take part of the part of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk made just one appearance during exhibition season, gathering in one of three targets for three yards in preseason Week 2 against the Chargers. Since then, he picked up a minor hamstring injury that kept him out of the 49ers' finale and recent practices. There doesn't seem to be too much worry about his ability to be ready for Week 1 at Detroit. but his status nonetheless will be monitored over the next week and a half.
Aug 27, 2021
Minor hamstring injury
Aiyuk is dealing with what's being described as a slight hamstring issue, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As a result, Aiyuk won't play in Sunday's preseason finale versus the Raiders. However, the 49ers' starting wideout is expected to be fine by next week, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. Assuming that's the case, Aiyuk's Week 1 status is not in any jeopardy.
Aug 22, 2021
Secures catch in preseason debut
Aiyuk caught one of three targets for three yards in Sunday's 15-10 preseason win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk made his 2021 preseason debut after sitting out last week's contest with most of the other starters. Both of his missed targets were the result of inaccurate passes from both of his quarterbacks. The 49ers' first-round pick from a year ago hasn't had a ton of on-field experience with either Jimmy Garoppolo or rookie Trey Lance, so any experience they accrue together this preseason will be beneficial. Expect Aiyuk and the rest of the starters to get a little more run in next Sunday's "dress rehearsal" against the Raiders.
Jul 28, 2021
Returns healthy for camp
Aiyuk (groin) made a number of catches Wednesday during the first practice of training camp, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
He's apparently recovered from the minor groin injury that held him out of OTAs, with Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle also noting that Aiyuk had a great practice Wednesday. The second-year pro is locked in as a starter and foundational piece in San Francisco, competing for targets with WR Deebo Samuel and TE George Kittle in an offense that should have a tight distribution. Coach Kyle Shanahan has made multiple comments in support of QB Jimmy Garoppolo, but it's nonetheless possible Aiyuk ends up catching passes from rookie Trey Lance at some point this year.
Jun 2, 2021
Dealing with minor groin issue
Aiyuk did not take part in Wednesday's OTA due to a minor groin injury, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately, Aiyuk and the others on the laundry list of injured skill-position players are expected to be ready by the time training camp rolls around in late July. It's worth monitoring for the time being to ensure it doesn't become a bigger problem down the road.
Dec 28, 2020
Won't play in Week 17
Aiyuk, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in this past Saturday's win over the Cardinals, won't play in Sunday's season finale against the Seahawks, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk thus finishes the campaign with a team-high 60 catches (on 96 targets) for 748 yards and five TDs in 12 games. Looking ahead to next season, the 2020 first-rounder will bring solid fantasy upside to the table, but the 49ers offense could look a bit different next season, once the team's offseason personnel moves shake out.
Dec 26, 2020
Can't get going in Week 16
Aiyuk recorded one reception on two targets for 15 yards in Week 16 against the Cardinals. He added one rushing attempt for 16 yards.
ANALYSIS
C.J. Beathard completed only 13 passes, leaving most of the 49ers' receiving options with little volume. He targeted wide receivers on only four occasions, providing Aiyuk with very little chance to produce. The result was Aiyuk's lowest reception total of his career. It also snapped a very productive stretch for him, as he had topped 70 receiving yards in each of his last six games. With Nick Mullens' (elbow) season officially over and Jimmy Garoppolo unlikely to return for a Week 17 matchup against the Seahawks, Aiyuk is likely to have shaky quarterback play to close the campaign.
Dec 20, 2020
Scores seventh TD in loss
Aiyuk caught nine of 13 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 41-33 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk once again led the team in targets and receptions as he surpassed 70 receiving yards for the sixth consecutive game. He also scored his fourth touchdown in the last five outings with a short score off a touch pass in the second quarter. The dynamic rookie continues to produce excellent numbers despite subpar quarterback play and now has 773 receiving yards to go along with seven total touchdowns. Aiyuk will look to add to his totals in next Saturday's divisional matchup with the Cardinals.
Dec 13, 2020
Dominates in Samuel's absence
Aiyuk caught 10 of 16 targets for 119 yards during Sunday's 23-15 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Deebo Samuel (hamstring) left the game on the second play from scrimmage, leaving Aiyuk to carry the passing attack. That he did, setting new career highs in targets, catches and receiving yards as the rest of the offense struggled to move the ball. This career game continues an excellent run of form for Aiyuk, who is now averaging 99.0 yards and 7.2 catches per game over his last five. The rookie will look to continue his ascendance next Sunday against the Cowboys.
Dec 7, 2020
Excels in return
Aiyuk secured five of nine targets for 95 yards and a touchdown while also returning one punt for 16 yards in the 49ers' 34-24 loss to the Bills on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie had missed the Week 12 win over the Rams after testing positive for COVID-19 back on Nov. 20, and he showed no ill effects from the layoff while pacing the 49ers in receiving yards and tying fellow wideout Deebo Samuel for the team lead in targets. Aiyuk put his elite athleticism on display on more than one occasion Monday night, and despite the defending NFC champions' playoff hopes dimming further with Monday night's loss, it will be interesting to see what Aiyuk and Samuel can do with an extended stretch of games together to finish off the season, especially if Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) manages to return to action. Aiyuk's next chance to pad his rookie-season numbers comes in a Week 14 battle against Washington in San Francisco's temporary home of State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
Dec 4, 2020
Feeling good ahead of Week 13
Despite a positive COVID-19 test on Nov. 20, Samuel told Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News on Friday that he's "feeling fresh physically and mentally" in advance of Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Samuel missed one game as a result, but with three full days of practice under his belt he's set to resume his standing as one of the 49ers' top receivers. While Deebo Samuel is the clear No. 1 option, Aiyuk has averaged 12.7 YPC and 8.0 YPT while scoring three touchdowns on his 56 targets this season.
Dec 2, 2020
Returns to active roster
The 49ers activated Aiyuk (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Aiyuk is back on the active roster after spending two different stints on the reserve list. He hasn't played since Week 10, but at that point he'd recorded touchdowns in three of his last four games. Aiyuk will look to reconnect with Nick Mullens against the Bills on Sunday.
Dec 1, 2020
In line for activation
The 49ers are expected to activated Aiyuk (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk spent two stints on the reserve list, but it was never revealed whether he tested positive for the virus or was merely a close contact of someone who did. In any case, as long as he's back on the active roster by Thursday, he'll join his teammates for practice as the 49ers prepare for Monday's game against the Bills.
Nov 28, 2020
Officially out Sunday
Aiyuk won't be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list for Sunday's game against the Rams, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk's next chance to play will be Week 13 against the Bills, a Monday night game. Deebo Samuel, Richie James and Kendrick Bourne figure to command most of the work in three-wide sets Sunday.
Nov 27, 2020
Looking doubtful for Sunday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that he hasn't heard anything about Aiyuk (reserve/COVID-19) potentially being able to play in Sunday's game against the Rams, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Shanahan said LT Trent Williams has an outside chance, perhaps hinting that Aiyuk has no chance at all. The 49ers seem to be preparing as if the rookie will miss the game.
Nov 20, 2020
Returns to reserve/COVID list
The 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Along with Aiyuk, the 49ers also placed tight end Daniel Helm and offensive tackle Trent Williams, marking the second time both Aiyuk and Williams have landed on the list. At this time, it's not known whether Aiyuk tested positive for COVID-19 or was deemed a close contact of someone who did. If it's the latter case, Aiyuk should have a good chance at gaining clearance for the 49ers' next game Nov. 29 versus the Rams, as the team is on bye Week 11.
Nov 15, 2020
Scores fifth TD
Aiyuk caught seven of 14 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown while losing eight yards on his only rushing attempt during Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk got off to a strong start and opened the scoring with a four-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He drew a whopping 37-percent target share as he received nearly three times the number of looks as the next-closest wideout on the team. Aiyuk now has five touchdowns in his last seven games and has averaged 93.7 yards over his last three. Deebo Samuel (hamstring) could return after the upcoming bye week, but Aiyuk should still retain a sizable role in the passing game after demonstrating his capabilities with his teammate sidelined.
Nov 6, 2020
Comes off reserve/COVID-19 list
Aiyuk was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
ANALYSIS
After teammate Kendrick Bourne was placed on the list Wednesday following his positive COVID-19 test, Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams were added to the list later in the day when the three were identified to be in close contact with Bourne. All four players were held out of Thursday's 34-17 loss to the Packers, even though Bourne proceeded to test negative Thursday and Friday, seemingly confirming that the initial test result was a false positive. Along with Aiyuk, the other three players were reinstated Friday, so the San Francisco offense should have more firepower on hand when the team returns to action Nov. 15 in New Orleans.
Nov 4, 2020
Won't play Thursday
The 49ers placed Aiyuk (not injury related) on the reserve/ COVID-19 list Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
And the hits keep coming for the 49ers, who placed Kendrick Bourne on the COVID-19 list earlier Wednesday due to a positive test result. Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) have been deemed to be high-risk close contacts of Bourne, meaning they'll be sidelined Thursday against the Packers. With the trio unavailable, San Francisco may be down to just two available wide receivers -- Trent Taylor and Richie James -- but the latter player is questionable to play himself due to an ankle injury.
Nov 1, 2020
Another impressive performance
Aiyuk recorded eight receptions on 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk followed up his breakout performance in Week 7 with another strong effort to lead the team in targets and yards. A significant portion of his production came with Nick Mullens under center during the fourth quarter, including a leaping catch for 33 yards down the middle of the field. On the team's next drive, Aiyuk hauled in a catch from three yards away for a touchdown in the corner of the end zone. Aiyuk could be in for a significant number of targets again in Week 9 against Green Bay on Thursday, as Deebo Samuel (hamstring) could remain out and George Kittle (ankle) will have to recover in short order to be available.
Oct 25, 2020
Records career high yardage total
Aiyuk caught six of seven targets for 115 yards during Sunday's 33-6 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk led the team in targets and receptions while posting the highest yardage total of his young career. He broke off a season long gain of 35 yards and made several other splashy plays against a notoriously tough Patriots secondary. Aiyuk's production has varied from week to week this season but it's clear he has the ability to be a difference maker in the 49ers offense and he'll have a good chance to add to his numbers next Sunday against a beatable Seattle secondary.
Oct 19, 2020
Scores on three targets
Aiyuk had two receptions (three targets) for 11 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-16 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk was having a quiet night until Jimmy Garoppolo dialed him up from the red zone for what turned out to be the deciding score. It was the 22-year-old's first receiving touchdown of his career, but it was his third overall this season (previous two were rushing scores). This game was significant because it was the first time we saw a normal game script with the 49ers' offense operating at full strength. Despite getting into the end zone, the two receptions and three targets are concerning moving forward. Aiyuk has flashed his playmaking ability both before and after the catch, so there is definitely fantasy potential here. That said, with George Kittle and Deebo Samuel clearly ahead of him in the target pecking order, we may see some ups and downs from Aiyuk during his rookie campaign. Up next is a matchup against the Patriots on Sunday, who are tougher against opposing receivers compared to the run.
Oct 12, 2020
44 yards in blowout loss
Aiyuk had three receptions (six targets) for 44 yards in Sunday's 43-17 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers' quarterback play was atrocious in this one, so it is hard to place blame on Aiyuk for the pedestrian stat line. In fact, he tied George Kittle for the team lead in receiving yards in a forgettable game all around. The notable stat for the talented rookie was the playing time, as he led all San Francisco wideouts with a whopping 97 percent of offensive snaps. He was followed closely by Deebo Samuel (89 percent), and it appears the two YAC monsters will be co-starters for the foreseeable future. The 49ers have a brutal stretch of games ahead beginning with a matchup against the Rams on Sunday Night Football, but the tough schedule could result in some favorable game scripts for passing the ball.
Oct 5, 2020
Flashes athleticism on TD run
Aiyuk had two receptions (five targets) for 18 yards, but did most of his damage on a 38-yard touchdown run in a loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk remained in the starting lineup as Deebo Samuel (foot) was eased back into action. The dynamic rookie put his after-the-catch skills on display when he took a backwards pass behind the line of scrimmage and bounced off of two tackles before hurdling a diving defender and landing in the end zone. It was a highlight-reel play that flashed the potential Aiyuk has to rip off a big play at any moment. It is unclear if the Arizona State product will remain a starter against the Dolphins on Sunday now that the receiver he was replacing (Samuel) is back in the fold. Either way, Aiyuk proved that he doesn't need a ton of touches -- or receptions for that matter -- to make an impact on the scoreboard.

Shines in Week 3 breakout
Aiyuk brought in five of eight targets for 70 yards and rushed three times for 31 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 36-9 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie made a splash in his second NFL game, pacing the team in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also notching a 19-yard scoring rush late in the third quarter to give the 49ers key breathing room by extending the lead to 23-9. Aiyuk had generated a modest 2-21 line back in his Week 2 debut, but if Nick Mullens is forced to log another start in place of Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) in a Week 4 Sunday night matchup against the Eagles, the chemistry the duo demonstrated in Week 3 certainly provides reason for optimism from a fantasy perspective.

Two catches in Week 2
Aiyuk caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk had a minimal impact in his NFL debut, as just two 49ers receivers were afforded more than three targets. It's a bit disappointing for the first-round pick, but now that he's healthy, he should be able to carve out an increased role. Deebo Samuel could return in Week 4, though, so Aiyuk will look to establish himself this Sunday against the Giants. However, it may be Nick Mullens under center if Jimmy Garoppolo isn't recovered from a high-ankle sprain.

Ditches hamstring injury
Aiyuk (hamstring) wasn't listed on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk missed his first potential game as a professional this past Sunday, but the 2020 first-round pick now is poised to make his debut this Sunday against the Jets. With the hamstring injury behind him, he may serve as one of Jimmy Garoppolo's top receivers right away. Not only is Deebo Samuel (foot) on injured reserve, but stud tight end George Kittle is tending to a sprained left knee. Currently, Kendrick Bourne, Aiyuk, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and newcomer Mohamed Sanu are the healthy wide receivers on the 49ers' roster.

Could return to action Sunday
Coach Kyle Shanahan believes Aiyuk (hamstring) will return for Sunday's road game versus the Jets, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk tweaked his left hamstring on Aug. 23 and was diagnosed with a mild strain that extended into Week 1 prep. After putting in a DNP/LP/LP practice regimen last week, he received a questionable tag but eventually was inactive this past Sunday against the Cardinals. His status at Wednesday's practice could be the first sign that active status is likely Week 2, but ultimately his availability could come down to the wire again. If he's able to return, Aiyuk likely would be one of the 49ers' top wide receivers due to the injuries that are littering the group, namely Deebo Samuel (IR, foot), Jalen Hurd (IR, torn ACL) and Richie James (hamstring).

Won't suit up Sunday
Aiyuk (hamstring) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Cardinals, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk will be sidelined for his first potential NFL action due to a mild hamstring strain that has plagued him since Aug. 23 and held him to a DNP/LP/LP practice regimen in advance of the season opener. With Aiyuk out and Deebo Samuel (foot) on injured reserve, the 49ers will be shorthanded at wide receiver. Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and Richie James will be the options available to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Questionable to make NFL debut
Aiyuk (hamstring) remained limited Friday at practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk closes out the week with back-to-back limited sessions after being held out entirely Wednesday. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area believes the rookie could have a limited role even if he's active for the season opener, with the hamstring injury and corresponding missed practice time potentially restricting his involvement in the offense. There's also some concern that poor air quality in Santa Clara could force the NFL to relocate or postpone the game, so it's a messy situation all around. With Deebo Samuel (foot) already ruled out, the team has Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and Richie James as its healthy options at wide receiver.

Elevates to limited Thursday
Aiyuk (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk took the first step toward being available Week 1 after dealing with a mild left hamstring strain during the later stages of training camp. He seems to have a far better chance of suiting up Week 1 versus the Cardinals that Deebo Samuel (foot), who has yet to practice this week. Friday's injury report could clear up the situation once and for all, but in the end the 49ers' aren't required to make a final decision on Samuel or Aiyuk until 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Aiyuk (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kyle Shanahan expected as much as Aiyuk looks to put a mild left hamstring strain behind him. The rookie first-round pick has two more opportunities to prove his health before Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, but the 49ers' receiving corps could be less than expected if one or both of Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel (foot) sit out this weekend.

Unlikely to practice Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that Aiyuk (hamstring) isn't expected to practice but has "a chance," David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk doesn't look likely to take the practice field Wednesday, and the 49ers' first official injury report of the season will bring confirmation of his status this afternoon. The rookie first-round pick may still have a chance to suit up for Sunday's divisional tilt against Arizona, but the 49ers would likely first need to see how he holds up at practice.

Remains sidelined
Aiyuk (hamstring) did not participate in Monday's team practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that he was hopeful that Aiyuk would return to practice this week after suffering a mild hamstring strain Aug. 23, but the rookie wideout remains sidelined on the first day of organized team activities this week. The team didn't offer much of a concrete update on either Aiyuk or fellow playmaker, Deebo Samuel (foot), but expect to see a clearer picture of what the 49ers' starting wideout corps will look like as we progress later in the practice week. Kendrick Bourne, Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor could all see boosts in snaps if either or both of the talented, young receivers are unable to suit up Sunday against Arizona.

Deemed 'week-to-week'
Coach Kyle Shanahan called Aiyuk "week-to-week" due to a mild left hamstring strain, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to suffering the injury at Sunday's practice, Aiyuk was thoroughly impressing in camp. He may have been helped by the absence of Deebo Samuel (foot) and others in the receiving corps, but the rookie first-round pick's performance on the field was helping to put himself on the fantasy radar. Now, Aiyuk will focus on his recovery with the aim of getting healthy by the 49ers' regular-season opener Sept. 13 versus the Cardinals.

Tweaks hamstring
Aiyuk (hamstring) was unable to finish practice Sunday after he "appeared to come up lame after a deep route," per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area.
ANALYSIS
Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com adds that Aiyuk, who "was in the midst of another strong practice," appeared to tweak his hamstring on the play. As long as the wideout's injury doesn't linger, the 25th overall pick in the 2020 draft figures to see a key role in the 49ers' passing attack from the get-go, with projected starter Deebo Samuel still recovering from a foot injury.

May see role elevated early on
Aiyuk is a candidate to fill in for injured starter, Deebo Samuel (foot), to begin the regular season, Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Samuel was lined up to serve as the 49ers' top wide receiver following his stellar 2019 rookie campaign, but an offseason foot injury put his status for Week 1 in jeopardy. With GM John Lynch stating that his top wideout could miss multiple games to begin the season, Aiyuk could be in line to replace his production out of the gates. The first-round pick out of Arizona State was high on coach Kyle Shanahan's draft board in this year's receiver-heavy draft, even drawing comparison to Hall of Fame wideout, Isaac Bruce, from his new head coach. Aiyuk was originally expected to compete for snaps behind Samuel and veteran Kendrick Bourne, but this new development could thrust the rookie into a prominent role from the get go. Just as we saw with Samuel in 2019, if Aiyuk is able to impress early on, the versatile wideout could grab a hold of a starting job and force his way into the starting lineup for the remainder of the year.

Signs rookie deal
Aiyuk has signed a four-year, 12.5 million contract with the 49ers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk, who the team selected 25th overall this past April, was added to help fill the void created by the offseason departure of Emmanuel Sanders. With Deebo Samuel now dealing with a foot injury that could impact his early-season status, the rookie could see a bigger role out of the gate than originally anticipated. Though Aiyuk's 4.5 time in the 40-yard dash wasn't anything special, the 6-foot, 200-pounder does posses short-area explosiveness and displayed big-play and after-the-catch ability at Arizona State. With an opportunity to see meaningful snaps from the get-go, Aiyuk's fantasy stock is on the rise.

May be needed right away
With Deebo Samuel recovering from foot surgery, the 49ers may need to give Aiyuk a bigger role than they had initially planed early in the season, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Aiyuk and Samuel both are known for their prowess picking up yards after the catch, a trait that's especially valuable in Kyle Shanahan's horizontally oriented offense. The rookie first-round pick already had a decent shot to earn a starting job before the Samuel injury, competing for snaps with the likes of Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Jalen Hurd and Dante Pettis. While Samuel expects to complete his rehab process in approximately 10 weeks, other reports put the estimate anywhere between two and four months. Meanwhile, Aiyuk has been medically cleared from the core muscle surgery he had in early April, presumably ready for full participation whenever the 49ers are able to practice.
Jun 12, 2020
Deemed healthy
Aiyuk (abdomen) has been medically cleared, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers made Aiyuk the 25th pick of the 2020 draft less than three weeks after he had core muscle surgery. He seems to have made a quick recovery, as he's already working out with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and other teammates at San Jose State. The rookie should be ready for the start of training camp later this summer, hoping to earn a starting job across from Deebo Samuel at wide receiver.
