While a similar situation could arise in a winnable matchup against the Texans next Sunday, Robinson is unlikely to sniff double-digit touches in his current role.

Starter Christian McCaffrey gobbled up a season high 76 snaps on offense (88 percent) Thursday, leaving just scraps for Robinson, even with the 49ers missing several key offensive players on a short week. The veteran backup finished with his worst per-carry average (2.4 yards) since being traded to San Francisco this preseason. Robinson's lack of involvement in the passing game (three targets) coupled with zero trips to the end zone through five appearances make him a poor fantasy option in Week 6 against the Buccaneers.

Robinson saw his usage drop to nine percent on offense (six snaps) against the Cardinals, and his two touches checked in well below the 8.5 he averaged over the first two weeks of the campaign. The 26-year-old made the most of his sparse opportunities Sunday, ripping off a season best 19-yard run in the fourth quarter. No other backup saw the field on offense in the win, so Robinson's reduced playing time was likely the result of the 49ers leaning on Christian McCaffrey heavily against a division opponent. Expect Robinson to continue receiving a handful of carries backing up CMC against the Jaguars next Sunday.

Robinson had a smooth debut with San Francisco after being dealt from Washington just weeks before the start of the regular season. The 2022 third-round pick slotted directly behind starter Christian McCaffrey and handled 10 touches while playing 18 snaps on offense (24 percent). Robinson and his downhill running style should continue spelling CMC while receiving a handful of touches against the Saints next Sunday.

The Commanders are trading Robinson to the 49ers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Robinson faces increased competition for touches from Ekeler, and Daniels is also a threat to vulture goal-line rushing looks after scoring 21 rushing TDs in his last two years at LSU, but the ceiling for Washington's entire offense is far higher with Daniels at the helm than it was with Sam Howell under center last season. Washington's first-team offense could see more playing time in next Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins.

For a second day in a row, Robinson was held out of drills due to a hamstring issue, but he was spotted working with team trainers on the side during Thursday's session, per John Keim of ESPN.com. The development may indicate that Robinson has a chance to practice Friday, but if he doesn't, there's also the possibility that the Commanders rule him out upon posting their final Week 15 injury report. If Robinson is limited or sidelined Sunday at the Rams, Antonio Gibson would be in line for a bigger role, with Chris Rodriguez on hand for complementary reps.

Robinson (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Robinson missed the second half of Washington's Week 13 loss to Miami and apparently is still dealing with the hamstring injury after a Week 14 bye. If he can't play in Sunday's game against Los Angeles, the Commanders likely will deploy Antonio Gibson in a larger role and use Chris Rodriguez for some of the early down work normally handled by Robinson.

The Commanders have ruled out Robinson for the second half of Sunday's game against the Dolphins due to a hamstring injury.

Robinson carried seven times for 53 yards and went without a target through the first two quarters of the game before departing. The extent of Robinson's injury isn't known, but the second-year running back will at least have the benefit of a well-timed Week 14 bye to recover from the health concern before the Commanders return to action Dec. 17 against the Rams. Washington will get by with Antonio Gibson and Chris Rodriguez as its running backs for the remainder of Sunday's contest.

Robinson carried the ball 15 times for 53 yards and caught two of three targets for 11 yards in Thursday's 45-10 loss to the Cowboys.

The Commanders kept things fairly close in the first half and were only down 20-10, allowing them to keep Robinson involved in the offense, but once things got away from them after the break the running game became an afterthought. The second-year RB also briefly left the contest in the second quarter to get checked for a concussion, but he was cleared to return. After two straight games with over 100 scrimmage yards, Robinson returned to the mediocre production level he's been stuck in most of the season, both due to game script and his own lackluster 4.0 yards per carry average. He'll try to get rolling again in Week 13 against the Dolphins, as the Commanders do their best to keep Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill on the sideline.

Robinson rushed the ball 17 times for 73 yards in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants. He added seven receptions on nine targets for 58 yards.

Robinson saw a season-high 24 touches in the absence of Antonio Gibson (toe) and topped 100 total yards for the second consecutive game as a result. He ripped off gains of 18 and 11 yards on the ground to reach 70 rushing yards for the third time this season. However, for the second consecutive week, his most impressive work came as a pass catcher, as he led the team in targets and receptions while tying for the team lead in receiving yards. Robinson hasn't been all that impressive as a rusher throughout the campaign, but he'll have an extra path to production so long as Sam Howell chooses to rely on him as a primary checkdown option.

Robinson took eight carries for 38 yards while catching all six of his targets for 119 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-26 loss to Seattle.

Robinson's big day as a pass catcher resulted in a new single-game high in receiving yards while nearly doubling the combined air production from his previous nine contests in one fell swoop. The second-year back did finish with single-digit carries for the third time this season, but he offset the low usage as a rusher by providing a fantasy line most managers would be content with from their top wide receiver. The Alabama product has been a strong contributor through 10 games this season, combining for 741 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns over that span. Robinson could stay hot in Week 11 with a favorable matchup against a banged-up Giants squad next Sunday.

Robinson rushed 18 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over New England. He added one catch for four yards on two targets and lost a fumble.

Robinson sauntered into the end zone untouched from nine yards out to put Washington up 10-0 in the second quarter, but he fumbled on the Commanders' next drive. After scoring only three scrimmage touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie last season, Robinson has seven touchdowns through nine games in his second NFL campaign. Antonio Gibson tied his season high with six rushing attempts in this game, but Robinson remains Washington's top option on the ground heading into a Week 10 trip to Seattle.

Robinson rushed 10 times for 59 yards and secured both targets for 20 yards in the Commanders' 38-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

Robinson was highly effective as a runner and also recorded multiple catches for the fourth time in the last five contests. However, the second-year back's opportunities were limited as the game went on, capping Robinson's overall output. Robinson should be the beneficiary of a more favorable game script in a Week 9 road battle against the Patriots.

Robinson carried the ball eight times for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 14-7 loss to the Giants.

He also failed to catch his only target. Robinson accounted for the Commanders' only points on the afternoon with a four-yard TD plunge in the fourth quarter, but his longest run went for only six yards and he was surprisingly out-gained by rookie Chris Rodriguez. Robinson's spot at the top of the depth chart isn't in any danger, but he's been held below 50 rushing yards in four straight contests and is averaging below 4.0 yards per carry for the second straight campaign. Washington's entire running game will face a tough test in Week 8 against the Eagles.

Robinson rushed 10 times for 31 yards and brought in both targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 24-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

Robinson found tough sledding on the ground against a feisty Falcons front, but he found the end zone as a receiver for the first time since Week 1 on an impressive 24-yard catch and run early in the third quarter. The second-year back is now in a three-game funk on the ground, as he hasn't eclipsed 45 rushing yards in any contest during that span. Robinson's prospects might be a bit brighter in Week 7, however, as Washington visits the struggling Giants.

Robinson rushed six times for 10 yards and brought in all four targets for 33 yards in the Commanders' 40-20 loss to the Bears on Thursday night.

Robinson's viability in the ground attack quickly evaporated when the Commanders fell behind by more than three touchdowns in the first half. That helped push him into more of a pass-catching role, resulting in a season high in receptions. Conversely, Robinson's carries and rushing yardage were both low-water marks for him this season, but he should have the benefit of a more normal game script in a Week 6 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Robinson carried the ball 14 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for six yards in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles.

The running back found paydirt midway through the fourth quarter on a 15-yard run, tying the game at 24-24 and setting up a wild finish. The yardage was Robinson's lowest in four games so far this season, but he's scored four TDs in those four games to maintain strong fantasy value. He could be poised for an even bigger performance in Week 5 against a Bears defense that was just gashed for over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown by Denver rookie RB Jaleel McLaughlin.

Robinson rushed 10 times for 70 yards and wasn't targeted in the Commanders' 37-3 loss to the Bills on Sunday.

Robinson was outstanding on a per-touch basis, but game script and his lack of targets capped his overall production. The second-year back has looked appreciably more explosive early this season after playing a shortened rookie campaign due to a leg injury, and prior to Sunday, he'd drawn five targets over the first two games. Robinson and the Commanders have another unenviable defensive matchup when they face the Eagles on the road in a Week 4 road matchup.

Robinson rushed 18 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns while adding 42 yards on two receptions (three targets) in Sunday's 35-33 win over the Broncos.

Robinson helped rally the Commanders to a three-score comeback win with two touchdowns in the second half. The 24-year-old acted as Washington's lead back, receiving 18 of the 20 carries issued to running backs Sunday. Robinson followed up last week's receiving touchdown with a pair of 21-yard receptions, which should be considered a bonus for fantasy managers given his minimal usage as a receiver in past seasons. He'll look to continue his red-hot start to the 2023 season against the Bills next Sunday.

Robinson carried the ball 19 times for 59 yards and caught one of two targets for a seven-yard touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Cardinals.

The second-year running back got Washington on the board late in the first quarter when he slipped out into the flat and gave Sam Howell an open target as the quarterback tried to escape an Arizona pass rush that rang up six sacks on the afternoon. Robinson had only nine catches and one receiving TD in 12 games as a rookie, so that kind of production likely won't become a regular occurrence, but he still appears to be the top option on the ground for the Commanders. He'll look to get into the end zone the conventional way in week 2 against a Denver defense that held Josh Jacobs to 48 rushing yards in a season-opening loss.

Robinson took five carries for 21 yards and four catches for 17 yards in Monday's preseason game against the Ravens.

He and Antonio Gibson worked in what appeared close to a 50/50 split, with the latter recording four carries for 15 yards and three catches for 10 yards and a touchdown. It was essentially the same rotation as the previous week, including Robinson being the starter, only with Washington's first unit playing an entire half instead of the first 19 minutes of game time. The split won't necessarily be this even once game counts, but the smart money is on Robinson and Gibson both getting a bunch of touches in a Week 1 home game against Arizona.

Robinson said Friday that he feels healthier than he ever was last season, ESPN's John Keim reports.

Four months after being drafted in the third round last spring, Robinson was shot in the leg twice in an attempted carjacking two weeks before the start of the regular season. He came back Week 5 and quickly became Washington's lead runner, averaging 17.1 carries for 66.4 yards in 12 games. It sounds like Robinson anticipates being more explosive this year, after averaging only 3.9 yards per carry with a long gain of 24 last season. He also mentioned the likelihood of seeing more targets (12 last year) under new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, though Antonio Gibson recently suggested he'll be the one getting most of the snaps in obvious passing situations. A shared backfield with Robinson doing more of the running and Gibson more of the receiving is logical given the former's size (225 pound) and the latter's background as a college wideout. For what it's worth RBs coach Randy Jordan agrees that Robinson looks more explosive this summer and has been more confident making cuts.

Robinson (knee) is participating in OTAs without any apparent limitations, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Robinson missed Week 18 of his rookie season with a knee injury, but it may not have had any impact on his offseason plan given that there was never a report of surgery. The 2022 third-round pick had an eventful debut campaign, missing the first four games after he was the victim of a shooting and then averaging 17.1 carries for 66.6 yards (3.9 YPC) over the next 12 games. He caught only nine passes and scored only three times, but Robinson and Antonio Gibson could be headed for similar(ish) roles under new OC Eric Bieniemy, a former RB whose backfield at the start of OTAs consists of four holdovers from the 2022 Commanders (Robinson, Gibson, Jaret Patterson, Jonathan Williams) and rookie sixth-round pick Chris Rodriguez.

Robinson (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Antonio Gibson (knee) missed Week 17 and was then placed on injured reserve Thursday, leaving the Commanders with Jonathan Williams and Jaret Patterson as their healthy running backs for the season finale. Williams has been the third-stringer since late November, but that might be more about special teams and doesn't ensure he'll get more touches than Patterson on Sunday. Robinson, a third-round pick, wraps up his rookie year as the team's leading rusher with 205 carries for 797 yards, though he caught only nine passes in 12 games and found the end zone just three times (including once on a reception). While the Commanders could upgrade this offseason, it won't necessarily be one of their priorities with the RB room in decent hands between Robinson and Gibson.

Robinson (knee) wasn't present for Thursday's practice session, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Robinson has now sat out both of the Commanders' first two Week 18 practices, putting his availability in question for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Even if Robinson demonstrates enough progress in his recovery from the knee injury to suit up this weekend, he could be in store for a limited role than usual, given that the Commanders have been eliminated from playoff contention and may be reluctant to expose the running back to further injury heading into the offseason. With Washington moving Antonio Gibson (knee/foot) to injured reserve earlier Thursday, the team would be left with Jonathan Williams, Jaret Patterson and practice-squad member Reggie Bonnafon as its available backs if Robinson is sidelined Sunday.

Robinson (knee) was a non-participant at practice Wednesday.

Neither Robinson nor Antonio Gibson (knee/foot) logged any on-field work to begin Week 18 prep, so the Commanders backfield currently is without its top two options. Gibson sat out Week 17 due to his pair of injuries, while Robinson's health concern is a new one, so the entire situation will be one to watch to get a sense of who may be available Sunday versus the Cowboys. Currently, Jonathan Williams is the only healthy running back on Washington's active roster, and Jaret Patterson is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.

Robinson carried the ball 24 times for 87 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Browns.

Robinson accounted for 24 of 33 carries by Commnaders' running backs in the absence of Antonio Gibson (knee), which helped him to a mediocre performance despite a lack of big plays. Robinson managed only one carry of more than 10 yards and was limited to 3.6 yards per attempt. Even so, he has at least 80 rushing yards in five of his last seven games.

Robinson should have expanded usage Sunday with Antonio Gibson (knee) unavailable against the Browns, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Gibson was ruled out Friday after missing practice throughout the week. He'd taken a backseat to Robinson in recent weeks anyway, but this could open the door for the rookie to play more snaps and draw more targets. He's averaged 18.1 carries for 76.4 yards over the past seven games, starting each week, but with only 1.0 catch for 6.7 yards on 1.3 targets per game. Touchdowns also have been an issue with Robinson scoring only two from 582 total yards during that seven-game stretch, though that part is less about Gibson, who has only one TD (and 379 total yards) in the same span. Jonathan Williams and Jaret Patterson are the depth options behind Robinson for Week 17.

Robinson ran for 58 yards on 22 carries and failed to haul in his lone target in Saturday's 37-20 loss to the 49ers.

Robinson was met with brick walls on seemingly every one of his 22 carries (second-highest total this year) against San Francisco's stout front seven Saturday. Backup Antonio Gibson managed just 10 rushing yards on five carries, so the pecking order in Washington's backfield should remain unchanged after an overall down performance from the group. Robinson will attempt to resume his strong rookie campaign against the Browns' porous rushing defense next Sunday (134.3 rushing yards allowed per game).

Robinson had 12 carries for 89 yards and caught his lone target for 18 yards in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Giants.

Robinson came out of Washington's bye week and posted a nearly identical line to his last game against these same Giants back in Week 13. The 2022 third-round selection continued to outproduce and out-touch veteran Antonio Gibson (5/21/0), further establishing himself as the Commanders' lead back and preferred fantasy option. Robinson has hit the century mark in total yards for three consecutive weeks, with his lack of touchdowns -- three through 10 games -- being the only blemish on a strong rookie campaign. All of Washington's position players should take slight projection hits with a tough matchup looming against San Francisco's elite defense Saturday.

Robinson (quadriceps) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Robinson was limited in all three of Washington's practices coming out of the Week 14 bye, but that won't keep him from playing in the pivotal Week 15 showdown with the Giants. The rookie running back rushed for 96 yards on 15 carries and caught both of his targets for 15 yards against the same opponent in Washington's previous game.

Robinson (quadriceps) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Both Robinson and Antonio Gibson (foot) have logged back-to-back capped sessions this week following a Week 14 bye. Robinson entered the Commanders' in-season respite having recorded between 15 and 26 touches for five consecutive games, including 23 touches for 111 yards from scrimmage in the team's last contest two weeks ago against the Giants, who just so happen to be his opponent this Sunday.

Robinson was a limited practice participant Wednesday with a quad injury, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Antonio Gibson (foot) also was listed as limited on Washington's first practice report after a Week 14 bye. Both running backs appear on track to play Sunday against the Giants, with Robinson the favorite to get more carries after running 39 times for 201 yards between Weeks 12 and 13. That included a 21-96-0 rushing and 2-15-0 receiving line a couple weeks ago against the same Giants defense he'll face Sunday.

Robinson rushed 21 times for 96 yards and secured both targets for 15 yards in the Commanders' 20-20 tie with the Giants on Sunday. He also committed a fumble that was recovered by Washington.

The rookie once again helmed the backfield, out-carrying Antonio Gibson by a 12-tote margin while also tying his teammate with a pair of receptions, albeit on two fewer targets. Robinson's long run went for a modest 16 yards, so it was a grind-it-out type of effort for the Alabama product. Robinson now has 201 rushing yards on 39 carries in the last two games alone, seemingly affording him an unquestioned lead-back role going into the team's Week 14 bye.

Robinson rushed the ball 18 times for 105 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Falcons. He added two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Robinson led the Washington backfield with 22 touches as compared to 12 for Antonio Gibson. That likely had to do with game script, as Washington held a small lead for the majority of the game and was content to keep the ball on the ground in rainy weather. Robinson took advantage of the opportunity by topping 100 rushing yards in a game for the first time in his career while ripping off runs of 21, 12 and 11 yards to get there. He also found his way to the end zone on a 14-yard score to tally Washington's first touchdown of the day. Robinson will likely be reliant upon positive game script to replicate this type of performance, though he has shown the ability to shoulder a heavy workload.

Robinson ran for 57 yards on 15 carries against Houston on Sunday.

It's disappointing that Robinson couldn't get more going on the ground against Houston's weak run defense, and somewhat concerning that seeming backup Antonio Gibson saw 18 carries to Robinson's 15, and three targets to Robinson's none. Gibson appears to be the team's preferred passing-down target between the two, so Robinson would ideally hold a decisive lead over Gibson as the team's preferred pure runner. The Washington backfield will continue to be an interesting question as they face an otherwise favorable matchup against Atlanta in Week 12.

Robinson rushed 26 times for 86 yards and one touchdown in Monday's 32-21 win over the Eagles. He wasn't targeted in the passing game.

After watching Antonio Gibson score from one yard out in the first quarter, Robinson matched that feat late in the second. Robinson was bottled up initially but kept his legs churning and had the wherewithal to reach the ball across the plane before any body part touched the ground. The rookie third-round pick out of Alabama set new career highs in carries and rushing yards, so his arrow's pointing up ahead of a juicy Week 11 matchup with the league-worst Houston run defense.

Robinson rushed 13 times for 44 yards and brought in both targets for minus-6 yards in the Commanders' 20-17 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.

Robinson was once again mostly stymied on the ground, with his long run of the day going for just six yards. The rookie outpaced backfield mate Antonio Gibson by just two carries overall after checking in second to him in that category Week 8, but he should continue to helm the ground game in a tough Week 10 road matchup against the Eagles on Monday night, Nov. 14.

Robinson carried the ball eight times for 20 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Colts.

Coming off a 20-carry performance, Robinson took a backseat to Antonio Gibson in overall role in Sunday's win. He was completely uninvolved as a receiver and ineffective as a runner, as he averaged only 2.5 yards per carry and his longest rush of the day went for just seven yards. Robinson could continue to serve as the Commanders' lead back moving forward, though this performance highlights the fragility of his production given his lack of involvement as a pass catcher and the continued involvement of Gibson.

Robinson rushed 20 times for 73 yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Packers.

Robinson got nine more touches than Antonio Gibson, but Gibson got into the end zone on a nine-yard catch in the second quarter. Both of Washington's top two running backs should continue to play prominent roles in Week 8 against the Colts and beyond. Robinson's averaging only 3.4 yards per carry through three NFL games, but he's taken on a workhorse role with 37 rushing attempts over the past two games.

Robinson rushed 17 times for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 12-7 win over the Bears on Thursday night.

The rookie had a tough time with efficiency against a surprisingly stout Bears front Thursday night, but he did put an exclamation point on his first pro start with a one-yard touchdown run with 7:21 remaining. The score was the first of Robinson's career following the delayed start to his rookie season due to leg injuries suffered in a late-August robbery attempt, but his workload Thursday night suggests there will be plenty more opportunity for him to visit the end zone moving forward. Robinson now will have extra time to rest up from having logged 26 touches in a span of four days, as the Commanders don't take the field again until they host the Packers a week from Sunday.

Robinson is expected to serve as Washington's starting running back during Thursday's game against the Bears, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report.

During his NFL debut in last week's loss to the Titans after he missed the Commanders' first four games while recovering from two gunshot wounds in his leg, Robinson came off the bench and was part of a three-man backfield committee with starter Antonio Gibson and pass-catching specialist J.D. McKissic. All three backs played between 29 and 41 percent of Washington's offensive snaps against Tennessee, but Robinson could be on tap for at least a slight uptick in playing time at the expense of Gibson if he is in fact awarded the starting nod. McKissic is still likely to remain the Commanders' top option on passing downs, however, so Robinson's upside in PPR formats in particular may be capped even if he wrests the larger share of the early-down work away from Gibson.

The Commanders activated Robinson from the reserve/non-football injury list after he resumed practicing this week without any complications, and if he makes the most of the opportunities he receives Sunday, it may not be long before he supplants Gibson as the team's lead option on the ground. J.D. McKissic should also have a role on passing downs in what looks to be a three-man backfield committee for Washington this weekend.

That could leave Gibson completely out of the rotation, particularly since the Commanders have been relying on nominal No. 3 back Jonathan Williams for special teams work, although the team hasn't officially announced how the backfield will operate.

Robinson's 21-day window for evaluation at practice now begins, but it's worth noting that coach Ron Rivera has already expressed optimism about the rookie's chances of suiting up versus Tennessee on Sunday. It will warrant closely monitoring Robinson's activity in practice this week, as it looks like he has a path to carving out a significant role in Washington's backfield.

The Commanders may opt to ease Robinson back into action, but he could eventually eat into the workloads of both Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic this season.

Robinson could continue to earn more of a role in the offense, particularly after Antonio Gibson fumbled deep in Washington's own territory Saturday.

Robinson likely will get short-yardage carries this season, and he's already getting extra work in practice while Antonio Gibson recovers from a hamstring injury, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Standig suggests the Commanders want Gibson to get more touches in space and fewer between the tackles, perhaps relying on his excellent athleticism more and his questionable vision less. Robinson could take some of that work off Gibson's plate, with the rookie third-round pick potentially forming a timeshare with J.D. McKissic in the event Gibson's injury woes stretch into the regular season. Robinson reportedly got most of the first-team backfield snaps through the first couple days of training camp.

The Commanders selected Robinson in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 98th overall.

Robinson (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) is big running back with an upright build, which can be a hindrance. He was one of the least productive Alabama running backs in recent memory, playing as a backup for four years before finally starting as a fifth-year player in 2021. He'll run hard and do his job well, but the talent is not compelling and he doesn't project to be more than a backup at any point. Even a player like T.J. Yeldon was a much better Crimson Tide prospect.
