Caleb Williams Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Steelers vs Bears game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 16, 2025
No TDs in low-scoring win
Williams completed 16 of 32 passes for 193 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Vikings. He also rushed four times for 26 yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams finished without a touchdown pass for the third time in his last five starts while completing fewer than 60 percent of his passes for the sixth time in his last seven outings. He was credited with his league-leading fifth fourth-quarter comeback win of the season, but Williams didn't do much to earn this one, handing the ball off three times after Devin Duvernay's kickoff return got the Bears in range for a game-winning Cairo Santos field goal on the final play. Williams has an opportunity to pick up the pace as a passer in Week 12 against the inconsistent Steelers secondary.

Leads late comeback with two TDs
Williams completed 20 of 36 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown while rushing eight times for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Williams struggled for most of a snowy Chicago afternoon but heated up in the last four minutes as the Bears staged a late comeback. He cut Chicago's deficit to 20-17 with 3:56 remaining in the fourth quarter on a two-yard touchdown pass to Rome Odunze, then Williams capped a four-play, 53-yard drive with a go-ahead 17-yard touchdown run just over two minutes later. The 2024 first overall pick has complemented his 13:4 TD:INT through the air in 2025 with the first three rushing touchdowns of his career, as well as a receiving touchdown. Williams has guided the Bears to a 6-3 record heading into a Week 11 road game against the NFC North rival Vikings.

Four total TDs in win
Williams completed 20 of 34 passes for 280 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, rushed five times for 53 yards and brought in two targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 47-42 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Williams' brimming stat line tells the tale of a wild afternoon at Paycor Stadium that featured seven lead changes. Williams had a hand in the decisive one, connecting with rookie tight end Colston Loveland for a 58-yard game-winning touchdown. That momentous play was preceded by a 15- and five-yard scoring strikes to Olamide Zaccheaus and Loveland, respectively, as well as Williams' own two-yard TD grab from DJ Moore on a trick play to cap off Chicago's opening possession. The 2024 first overall pick snapped a two-game TD-pass drought with Sunday's performance, and he also hit the 280-yard mark for the second consecutive contest. Williams and the Bears have another favorable matchup on tap when the Giants pay a visit to Soldier Field for a Week 10 matchup next Sunday afternoon.

Held in check by Baltimore
Williams completed 25 of 38 passes for 285 yards and an interception in Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Ravens. He added 24 rushing yards on three carries.
ANALYSIS
The second-year quarterback was able to move the ball early, but Williams' inability to get the ball into the end zone eventually cost the Bears after their first two drives ended in field goals. It's the second straight game in which he's failed to produce a TD, and both came against what were statistically poor defenses in New Orleans and Baltimore. Williams will try to get back on track against another vulnerable unit in Week 9 as Chicago faces a Cincinnati defense that that just squandered a late lead and handed Justin Fields and the Jets their first win of the season.
Oct 19, 2025
Relatively quiet in Week 7 win
Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 172 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while netting minus-2 yards on four carries in the Bears' 26-14 win over the Saints on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, one which he recovered and the other which remained with Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Williams' final line underscores the unremarkable performance he authored in the double-digit home win. The 2024 first overall pick averaged 6.6 yards per attempt and generally scuffled against a beatable Saints defense, posting his lowest passing yardage total of the campaign. Williams did connect on another three completions of 20+ yards, and his 20 such passes on the season are exactly half the tally he generated in that category across 17 regular-season games in 2024. Williams next faces off with an inconsistent Ravens defense on the road in a Week 8 matchup next Sunday afternoon.
Oct 13, 2025
Scores twice in MNF win
Williams completed 17 of 29 pass attempts for 252 yards and a touchdown while rushing four times for a loss of two yards and another touchdown in Monday's 25-24 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Williams didn't post gaudy numbers on Monday Night Football, but he played a clean game while lifting the Bears to a third straight victory. The 2024 first-overall pick won the individual battle between the top two quarterback selections from that draft, but Jayden Daniels arguably had the superior fantasy score after hitting pay dirt thrice in a losing effort. Williams has been looking more comfortable running head coach Ben Johnson's offense with each passing week, a trend the duo will look to maintain against the Saints on Sunday.
Sep 28, 2025
Mixed results in comeback win
Williams completed 22 of 37 pass attempts for 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception while taking eight carries for 13 yards in Sunday's 25-24 win over Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Williams also put two balls on the ground, but he was fortunately able to recover both of his fumbles. The developing sophomore was coming off of his best game of the season against the Cowboys, but he reverted to the inconsistent version we saw in Weeks 1 and 2 despite earning his team the win Sunday. We have seen flashes of brilliance from Williams in new head coach Ben Johnson's scheme, but he still isn't polished enough to be relied upon regularly in fantasy. With the Bears entering a bye week, Williams' next action will come on Oct. 13 against the Commanders on Monday Night Football.
Sep 22, 2025
Precise against Dallas
Williams completed 19 of 28 passes for 298 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Cowboys. He added five rushes for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams has consistently looked sharp during the scripted portions of Chicago's gameplans to begin the season, which remained the case Sunday when he connected for a 35-yard touchdown with Rome Odunze on the opening drive. He carried his strong performance through the entire game, however, and matched his career high with four passing scores while also completing four passes of more than 30 yards. In addition to the explosiveness, Williams didn't take a sack or turn the ball over in one of the most well-rounded showings of his young career.
Sep 14, 2025
Pair of TD passes in loss
Williams completed 19 of 30 passes for 207 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding five rushes for 27 yards in the Bears' 52-21 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Williams' final line was serviceable, but the final score underscores how dominant the Lions were overall. The 2024 first overall pick looked especially impressive in the first half while connecting with Rome Odunze for touchdown passes of 28 and six yards, but he was only able to help the Bears to seven second-half points. Williams connected with seven different targets in his second game in head coach Ben Johnson's offense, and he clearly remains a work in progress in the quarterback-friendly system heading into a Week 3 home matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday.
Sep 8, 2025
Squanders strong start in MNF loss
Williams completed 21 of 35 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for 58 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Williams got the Ben Johnson era off to an efficient start, hitting his first 10 throws under Chicago's new head coach and play caller. That strong stretch also included a nine-yard Williams rushing touchdown to cap the opening drive. His first miss was a costly one, though, as it came on fourth down well into Vikings territory. Chicago took a 17-6 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Vikings responded with 21 unanswered points before Williams finally stemmed the bleeding with a one-yard touchdown pass to Rome Odunze with 2:02 remaining. The Bears got the ball back in the final seconds but couldn't muster a final push. Williams' rushing production was encouraging, but he struggled with accuracy after his hot start through the air. He'll try to put together a more complete performance against the Lions in Week 2.
Aug 23, 2025
Another encouraging effort
Williams completed 11 of 15 pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown while taking two carries for 18 yards in Friday's 29-27 preseason win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Williams carried the momentum over from his impressive preseason debut into Friday's exhibition finale where he dialed up Rome Odunze for a touchdown late in the first half. Chicago's offense sputtered out of the gates with a pair of punts, but Williams was unfazed and finished with another encouraging performance with Week 1 just around the corner. Expectations will be high for Williams when his sophomore season officially kicks off on Sept. 8 after the organization signed the hottest head coaching free agent and surrounded the signal-caller with a talented supporting cast.
Aug 17, 2025
Strong debut with new head coach
Williams completed six of 10 pass attempts for 107 yards and a touchdown (no rushing attempts) in Sunday's 38-0 preseason rout of the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams looked sharp in his first preseason action under new head coach Ben Johnson, moving the offense 93 yards on Chicago's first possession. Last year's No. 1 overall pick dialed up WR Olamide Zaccheaus for a 35-yard touchdown strike to cap off an impressive opening drive. Williams displayed improved footwork while looking decisive in the pocket, two areas Johnson was hoping to improve heading into his signal-caller's sophomore year. It is unclear if Williams will see the field in the Bears' preseason finale against the Chiefs on Friday, but Sunday's brief glimpse into his progression should be enough to drum up the fantasy hype machine.
Aug 13, 2025
Starters will play Sunday
Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Wednesday that Williams and the first-team unites will suit up for Sunday's preseason game against the Bills, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams and the majority of Chicago's starters were held out of preseason action versus the Dolphins last weekend, but the first-team units will get a chance to log exhibition reps versus Buffalo. Expectations are high for Williams entering Year 2, as he's surrounded by a revamped O-line that projects as top-10 in the league, and boasts an impressive supporting cast headlined by DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden and TEs Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet.
Aug 8, 2025
Not scheduled to play Sunday
Williams isn't scheduled to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Dolphins, per CHGO Sports.
ANALYSIS
This likely means most of Chicago's projected starters will be held out, although we figure to see them at least once this preseason as they continue learning coach Ben Johnson's playbook. With Williams held out, Tyson Bagent or Case Keenum figures to get the start Sunday.
Aug 5, 2025
Preseason opener reps TBD
Bears coach Ben Johnson said Tuesday it's still "to be determined" whether Williams and the rest of the starting unit will suit up for Sunday's preseason opener against the Dolphins, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson said any playing time for Williams and the starting offense won't be determined until he's had a chance to discuss plans with Miami head coach Mike McDaniel, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, so it sounds like Chicago's first-team units won't risk much action unless getting a chance to hone their skills against the Dolphins' starters. As Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic notes, Williams has had an up-and-down training camp to date, with Johnson saying that the first-team offense was "sloppier than we were hoping we would be at this point" during Sunday's open practice scrimmage. It's worth noting, though, that Williams is going through a particularly challenging offseason, which has included rehab from January wrist surgery, learning a new offensive system, and building chemistry with both a revamped offensive line and a pair of significant rookie pass-catchers in TE Colston Loveland and WR Luther Burden. Growing pains are to be expected, but it will inspire confidence in fantasy managers anticipati

Participates in OTAs
Williams has been participating in the Bears' ongoing organized team activities, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Back in January, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reported that Williams was spotted with a cast on his right wrist while attending a USC-Wisconsin men's basketball game after undergoing a minor offseason elective procedure to remove a cyst. Since then, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has moved past the issue and appears to be practicing without limitations. As a rookie, Williams threw for 3,541 yards, with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions in 17 games, to go along with 81 carries for 489 yards. In his second season as a pro, it's reasonable to expect improvements from the USC product, with a new offensive-minded head coach at the helm, as well as a re-tooled offensive line on hand and a pair of promising young playmakers (TE Colston Loveland and WR Luther Burden) having been added to the mix via the draft.

Undergoes minor offseason procedure
Williams, who was spotted Saturday with a cast on his right wrist while attending a USC-Wisconsin men's basketball game, underwent a minor offseason elective procedure to remove a cyst, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Cronin, the procedure was deemed not serious, and is not expected to impact Williams as the offseason progresses. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is coming off a rookie campaign in which he started all 17 of Chicago's regular season games en route to completing 351 of his 562 passing attempts for 3,541 yards with 20 TDs and six interceptions, while rushing 81 times for 489 yards. Of the team's top tier skill players, only veteran wideout Keenan Allen is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent. Meanwhile, the Bears are currently in the process of interviewing candidates to fill the their head coach vacancy.

Helps snap losing streak in finale
Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 148 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed three times for 10 yards in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday. He also fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
Williams' numbers were underwhelming in a vacuum, but the embattled No. 1 overall pick was still able to do just enough to put the Bears in position for a game-winning field goal by Cairo Santos. The rookie signal-caller had a narrow target pool that consisted of just five players, and he hit DJ Moore for a 32-yard touchdown reception on which the veteran wideout did the majority of the work with yards after the catch. Williams finished his first season by throwing for under 200 yards in four of his last five games, but he also tossed just a single interception over the last 11 contests of the campaign.
Dec 30, 2024
Expected to start in Week 18
Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown said Monday that Williams will play in Sunday's Week 18 game against Green Bay, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown also stated that all of Chicago's healthy players will suit up for the team's season finale. There had been some speculation that Williams could be held out of action given that the Bears have nothing to play for in terms of playoff contention and because the rookie QB has taken frequent hits this season -- Chicago has given up an NFL-high 67 sacks on the campaign. It remains to be seen how the Packers will handle their starters in Week 18 with the team having clinched a playoff berth and being unable to rise above the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
Dec 26, 2024
Middling numbers in Week 17 loss
Williams completed 16 of 28 passes for 122 yards with no touchdowns and one interception and rushed five times for 37 yards in the Bears' 6-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night. He also fumbled once but recovered and pounced on a second loose ball.
ANALYSIS
Four days after throwing for 334 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions, Williams, along with the entire Bears offense regressed significantly. The rookie first overall pick's yardage total was the second lowest of his young career, and until Chicago's final possession, Williams had only been able to lead the Bears on one drive of longer than 16 yards. That final march, which spanned 13 plays and 49 yards, also ended with a Williams interception on fourth down following three consecutive incompletions, his first pick since Week 6. The loss was the Bears' 10th consecutive, leaving a Week 18 road matchup against the Packers their only remaining chance to taste victory again in the 2024 regular season.
Dec 22, 2024
Impressive numbers in loss
Williams completed 26 of 40 passes for 334 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed six times for 34 yards in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The end result was another ugly loss for the Bears that dropped them to 4-11, but Williams' play was encouraging from a statistical perspective. The rookie first overall pick's yardage total was the third highest of his career, and the performance was his fourth 300-yard effort overall. Williams authored his fourth multi-touchdown tally of the last five contests by connecting with Cole Kmet (one yard) and Keenan Allen (45 yards) for his pair of scoring passes, both which came in the second quarter. Williams will look to continue honing his craft while seeking to snap what is now a nine-game losing streak for Chicago when the Seahawks come to town for a Week 17 matchup Thursday night.
Dec 16, 2024
Mild output Monday
Williams completed 18 of 31 pass attempts for 191 yards and a touchdown while rushing four times for three yards with a lost fumble in Monday's 30-12 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Williams kept his touchdown streak alive at four games, but it came in a futile effort against a division foe. The rookie signal-caller also coughed up his second fumble in as many games, bringing him up to four fumbles lost and five interceptions through 14 games. It's been a rocky road for Williams in his first season with Chicago, and he will have to take on a hungry Lions squad on Sunday that was just shown up at home by the Bills in Week 15. Hopefully there are more reliable fantasy options for fantasy managers whose playoff hopes are still alive.
Dec 8, 2024
Pads stats late in blowout loss
Williams completed 17 of 23 pass attempts for 134 yards and two touchdowns while rushing four times for 27 yards with a fumble in Sunday's 38-13 defeat to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Williams and Chicago's offense were nearly invisible Sunday, netting just four yards over five drives in the first half (all punts). The first-overall pick from this year's draft was able to pad his stats out of the break with a pair of touchdown throws that never threatened the 49ers' lead. On the bright side, Williams has now thrown seven touchdowns over his last three contests after failing to generate one over his previous four appearances. Things won't get any easier for the Bears as they prepare to visit the Vikings next Monday.
Nov 28, 2024
Mixed Thanksgiving results
Williams completed 20 of 39 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns against Detroit on Thursday while running for 39 yards on four carries.
ANALYSIS
Williams provided acceptable fantasy production in a setting where things could have gone worse and nearly did. The first half was a fruitless struggle for Williams and the Bears offense, with all the familiar themes of poor pass-rush management and an inability to establish consistent rhythm. Williams kicked into an extra gear in the second half, though, scoring all three of his touchdowns and nearly leading the Bears to a game-tying field goal opportunity. Unfortunately for Williams, what happened from that point will go down among the most memorable NFL lore for in-game blunders. A first and 10 from the Detroit 25 with 0:46 left on the clock somehow resulted in the Bears running the clock out on themselves. The offense had one timeout left and 36 seconds on the clock but spent those seconds lining up to call an incomplete pass as time ran out. It's not Williams' fault as much as it is on Matt Eberflus, but it would still have been nice to see more situational awareness from Williams. They might have a diff

First TD since Week 6
Williams completed 32 of 47 passes for 340 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings. He added six rushes for 33 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Bears were playing from behind for the entire second half, which led to Williams' second-highest pass attempt total of his rookie season. While that aided his stat line, there were plenty of positives to take from his performance, including six completions of at least 20 yards. He also recorded his first passing score since Week 6, connecting with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen for 10 and one-yard touchdowns, respectively. Willams is likely to experience more inconsistency to close the season, though he has averaged a respectable 7.3 yards per attempt in two games since the Bears' have changed offensive coordinators.
Nov 17, 2024
Shows improvement in loss
Williams completed 23 of 31 passes for 231 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added nine rushes for 70 yards in the Bears' 20-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The first overall pick appeared more in rhythm in his first game under interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, but the end result was another loss for the reeling Bears. Williams did put his team in position to pull off a win by leading a seven-play, 42-yard drive that started with him taking back-to-back sacks before recording completions of 16 and 21 yards to Rome Odunze and a 12-yard strike to Keenan Allen, but which ended with a blocked field goal as time expired. Williams had a compact target pool of six players on the afternoon, and he finished with highest yardage total since Week 5. Williams' first chance to build on the positives from his performance comes in a Week 12 home divisional clash against the Vikings.
Nov 13, 2024
Remains starting QB
Head coach Matt Eberflus confirmed Wednesday that Williams will remain the Bears' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Packers, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bears have lost each of their three games following their Week 7 bye, and Williams has taken a step backward in his development after he had completed 74.1 percent of his passes for 530 yards and a 6:1 TD:INT in the two games prior to the bye. Since the bye week, Williams has completed just 50.5 percent of his throws for 4.9 yards per attempt while committing one turnover (a lost fumble) and taking 18 sacks. Despite those struggles, Williams didn't look to be in any immediate danger of losing his starting job, but after the Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday, Ebeflus reaffirmed that the No. 1 overall pick wouldn't be benched for 2023 undrafted free agent Tyson Bagent. Bears passing game coordinator Thomas Brown is now set to take over as the interim offensive coordinator, and while Williams has nowhere to go but up following the coaching staff shakeup, he'll still represent a volatile fantasy option heading into a Week 11 matchup with Green Bay. Williams and the Bears will face a t

Sacked nine times in ugly loss
Williams completed 16 of 30 passes for 120 yards and added 15 rushing yards on two carries in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
While his production was awful, it's a mark in the rookie quarterback's favor that he didn't commit any turnovers on a day in which his injury-ravaged offensive line gave him no protection. Williams was brought down a stunning nine times by a New England defense that came into Sunday with only 16 sacks total on the season through its first nine contests. Over three games since Chicago's Week 7 bye, the first overall pick in the 2024 Draft has been sacked 18 times, and the Bears have lost all three. Unless starting tackles Braxton Jones (knee) and Darnell Wright (knee) get healthy in time, Williams could be running for his life again in Week 11 against Rashan Gary and the Packers.
Nov 6, 2024
Clear of ankle injury
Williams (ankle) wasn't listed on the Bears' first Week 10 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Williams injured his left ankle on the Bears' last play of this past Sunday's loss in Arizona, but he said afterward that he expected to be fine moving forward. Wednesday's practice confirmed as much, paving the way for him to continue leading Chicago's offense Sunday versus the Patriots.
Nov 4, 2024
Ankle injury not viewed as concern
Williams twisted his left ankle on the Bears' final play of Sunday's 29-9 loss to the Cardinals, but the quarterback said after the game that he'll be "OK" moving forward, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. "I landed wrong and just kind of tweaked it and [on] the last play, the dude grabbed my ankle and gator rolled," Williams said. "Tried to get off of it because when you stay on it, that's when bad stuff starts to happen and [it] breaks and all of that. Tried to just let my body go so I could fall and r
ANALYSIS
Even though the Bears were trailing by 20 in the final minute of the contest, head coach Matt Eberflus said afterward that he elected to keep Williams in the game amid the blowout for the purpose of "getting work and getting timing on the two-minute operation" for the offense. While that decision looks questionable in hindsight with Williams having picked up an injury on the final possession, the rookie signal-caller at least seems to have avoided anything serious. Eberflus noted that Williams is scheduled to be evaluated Monday, but the expectation is that he'll be ready to go for the Bears' Week 10 matchup with the Bears next Sunday. Williams endured a tough outing against the Cardinals while the Bears took a second straight loss coming out of their bye, as he completed 22 of 41 passes for 217 yards and no touchdowns to go with four carries for a season-low five yards. He was also sacked six times in the loss.
Nov 3, 2024
Another poor showing
Williams completed 22 of 41 passes for 217 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 29-9 loss to the Cardinals. He added four rushes for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams continued to face a lot of pressure -- he was sacked six times -- but still struggled to connect with his wide receivers. Positively, he didn't turn the ball over, though he otherwise struggled to get the ball moving by averaging just 5.3 yards per attempt. Williams had only one completion of over 20 yards and failed to record a touchdown in his second straight contest and for the fourth time in eight games for his rookie campaign. Coach Matt Eberflus said after the game that Williams tweaked his ankle on the final drive, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, so Williams' practice participation will bear monitoring ahead of Chicago's Week 10 home game against the Patriots.
Oct 27, 2024
Struggles against Commanders
Williams completed 10 of 24 passes for 131 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Commanders. He added 10 rushes for 41 yards.
ANALYSIS
After several strong performances in a row, Williams was unable to find a rhythm in Sunday's loss. He was consistently under pressure and was arguably harmed by the team's run-heavy offensive scheme early in the game, as he attempted only eight passes at the half as opposed to 18 team rushing attempts. While his fantasy performance remained underwhelming, it was positive to see Williams lead two effective drives late in the fourth quarter, highlighted by long completions of 27 and 22 yards to DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, respectively. The offensive line and scheme could continue to hamper Williams, but he showed signs of promise even in a relatively poor performance.
Oct 13, 2024
Four scoring tosses in win
Williams completed 23 of 29 passes for 226 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in the Bears' 35-16 win over the Jaguars on Sunday in London. He also rushed four times for 56 yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams turned in his most efficient showing as a pro yet across the pond, completing a career-high 79.3 percent of his passes while connecting with seven targets. Williams struck early and often, hitting Cole Kmet from 31 and two yards out in the second quarter for his first pair of scoring tosses before doing the same with Keenan Allen in the second half on passes of nine and three yards. After a lackluster start to his highly anticipated NFL career, Williams has now posted a 9:2 TD:INT over his last four games while clearing 300 yards in a pair of those contests. The rookie first overall pick and his teammates will next face the Commanders on the road in a Week 8 road matchup following a Week 7 bye.
Oct 6, 2024
Over 300 yards with two TDs in win
Williams completed 20 of 29 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 36-10 win over the Panthers. He added five rushing attempts for 34 yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams accumulated 200 first-half passing yards, including touchdown passes of 34 and 30 yards to DJ Moore, as the Bears took a 27-7 lead into the locker room. The mobile rookie quarterback had a one-yard touchdown run nullified by a penalty in the third quarter, so he's still looking for his first career score on the ground, but Williams has tossed five passing TDs in his last three games after failing to produce one across his first two NFL starts. Williams will have a nice opportunity to keep rolling in Week 6, when the Bears face the 1-4 Jaguars in London.
Sep 29, 2024
Modest numbers in Week 4 win
Williams completed 17 of 23 passes for 157 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed five times for 12 yards in the Bears' 24-18 win over the Rams on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Williams' 73.9 percent completion rate was his best yet over his first four games, but his passing yardage total was only better than the paltry 93 he generated during his NFL debut against the Titans in Week 1. The rookie first overall pick did record his long-awaited first scoring connection with DJ Moore, hitting the veteran wideout from nine yards out late in the third quarter to extend the Bears' lead to 17-9 at the time. Williams did bounce back from consecutive multi-turnover performances as well by remaining free of any miscues, an encouraging sign as he heads into a favorable Week 5 home matchup against the Panthers next Sunday.
Sep 29, 2024
Expresses frustration
Williams, Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett met with Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to express their frustration with the play-calling, Fox's Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It's been frustrating to say the least for the Bears' offense. They can't run the ball, and Williams has been under pressure constantly.
Sep 22, 2024
Big numbers in Week 3 loss
Williams completed 33 of 52 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 21-16 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The rookie quarterback tossed his first two career touchdowns to Rome Odunze and Cole Kmet, with both coming in the fourth quarter as the Bears tried to rally from a 14-3 deficit. Williams' production was very encouraging after he struggled in the first two games of the season, but Chicago's offensive line remains an issue as he got sacked four times, losing a fumble on one. His interceptions were also very poorly timed, as one came right after an Anthony Richardson pick and the other came on the play immediately after a Bears punt was erased by a Colts penalty. Williams growing pains will likely continue in Week 4 against the Rams, but the first overall pick in the 2024 Draft is beginning to flash his ceiling as well.
Sep 16, 2024
Rookie struggles continue
Williams completed 23 of 37 pass attempts for 174 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Texans. He was sacked seven times and added 44 rushing yards on five attempts.
ANALYSIS
Williams improved in some facets following his underwhelming debut against the Titans in Week 1. The first-overall pick from this year's draft matched upstart sophomore C.J. Stroud in terms of completions in the primetime loss, but the latter had far more success on a per-attempt basis. Williams was expected to go through growing pains as a first-year starter, but there have been minimal positives to point to through two games to justify starting him in standard fantasy formats. There should be better days ahead for Williams and a loaded Bears' supporting cast, potentially starting with a Week 3 matchup against the 0-2 Colts.

Wins debut with help
Williams completed 14 of 29 passes for 93 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Titans. He added five rushes for 15 yards.
ANALYSIS
Williams was victorious in his pro debut, thanks primarily to both a special teams and a defensive touchdown. He failed to get anything going in either half, though he did show rapport with DJ Moore by completing passes of 13, 12 and 11 yards. Also positive was the fact that Williams didn't have any turnovers, avoiding mistakes that could cost his team the game. That said, he'll likely need to get the offense moving better to come away victorious in Week 2 against Houston.

Sitting out preseason finale
Coach Matt Eberflus said Tuesday that Williams and the majority of starters will not suit up for Thursday's road exhibition finale against the Chiefs, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has flashed a handful of highlight-reel plays across two preseason showing thus far, and the Bears have seen enough to feel comfortable keeping the No. 1 overall pick under wraps until the regular season. During Saturday's game against the Bengals, Williams completed just six of 13 passes for 75 yards, including going three-and-out against a Cincinnati defense that sat a significant amount of starters. He rebounded well, though, leading Chicago to a field goal and then scoring a seven-yard rushing TD on his fifth and final drive. Williams will look to make the most of his regular-season debut Week 1 against the Titans, with a star-studded cast of skill-position players at his disposal. WRs DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze, RB D'Andre Swift, and TEs Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett represent a pass-catching corps capable enough to help Williams immediately make an impact at the NFL level.

Struggles early, shines late
Williams completed six of 13 passes for 75 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals, adding a seven-yard TD run on a scramble.
ANALYSIS
The Bears went three-and-out on their first three drives despite using most of their starters against what was mostly the Bengals' second-string defense. Williams then produced a field goal on his fourth drive with the help of a pass-interference penalty, an on the fifth drive he made a trio of spectacular plays to finally get the Bears into the end zone. He already has an impressive highlight reel of difficult throws on the run after seven total drives in two preseason games, immediately showing off what many scouts considered to be his best trait. The question now is whether Williams can efficiently direct the Chicago offense so that his scrambles and high-difficult throws are the dressing rather than the meat and potatoes. He was able to do that for both Oklahoma and USC in college, and he'll certainly have the necessary pass catchers at his disposal in Chicago, working with a deep group of skill-position players led by WRs DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze.

Another preseason start on deck
Coach Matt Eberflus said Thursday that Williams and all healthy starters will suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams looked solid in his preseason debut against the Bills last week, when he led a pair of long drives that each resulted in field goals. He'll get another chance to demonstrate on-field chemistry with receivers DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze, plus running back D'Andre Swift and tight end Cole Kmet, at home against Cincinnati on Saturday.

Leads two long drives in NFL debut
Williams completed four of seven passes for 95 yards and added a 13-yard run in Saturday's 33-6 preseason win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams led a pair of long drives in his highly anticipated NFL debut, but both of them stalled out in the red zone as the Bears settled for a pair of field goals. The rookie first overall pick had completions of 42 yards to running back D'Andre Swift and 26 yards to tight end Cole Kmet, but the wide receiver trio of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze combined for only two catches, both by Moore. Williams will likely get a chance to clean up the red-zone struggles and build chemistry with his receivers in next Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals.

Set for preseason debut
Williams and the Bears' starters will suit up for Saturday's road preseason matchup against the Bills, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams and key starters for Chicago were kept on the sidelines of the Hall of Fame Game last Thursday, but the rookie No. 1 overall pick is in line to handle the first snaps of his NFL career in Buffalo on Saturday. Coach Matt Eberflus said Williams and the first-team offense will be fielded for a "range" of designated plays, but declined to offer a tangible estimate for how many series the starters will handle. Tyson Bagent, Brett Rypien and Austin Reed will be in line for reps under center after Williams has taken his allotment of snaps.

Officially named starting QB
Coach Matt Eberflus named Williams' the Bears' starting quarterback at rookie minicamp Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams, the No. 1 overall pick of April's draft, was always a lock to start Week 1 over Tyson Bagent or Brett Rypien, but the team has wasted no time making Williams' position official, with Friday being the first day of on-field workouts for rookies. That allows Williams to immediately begin familiarizing himself with Chicago's offensive scheme without having to worry about splitting any reps. He can start establishing chemistry with fellow top-10 selection Rome Odunze during rookie camp, while veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen -- who both worked out with Williams and Odunze during the pre-draft process -- stand to arrive at team facilities for the start of OTAs.
