Won't play this week
Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin and Bucky Irving both returned to limited practice participation this week, following lengthy absences, potentially setting up returns to game action in Week 12 or 13. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles didn't comment on expectations for the future, merely telling reporters Friday that Godwin and Irving won't play this week.

Logs another limited practice
Godwin (fibula) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin isn't expected to be available for Sunday's road matchup at Buffalo, but it's encouraging to see him handle limited practice reps for a second consecutive day, and he could have a more realistic shot at retaking the field Week 12 versus the Rams. The veteran wideout hasn't yet officially been ruled out to face the Bills, but head coach Todd Bowles stated Monday that the expectation is for Godwin to miss at least one more game. Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard will start in three-wide sets as long as Godwin remains sidelined.
Nov 12, 2025
Officially limited Wednesday
Godwin (fibula) was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
According to Greg Auman of Fox Sports, Godwin wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of Wednesday's session, but his activity level implies he was able to get in some on-field reps for the first time since coming out of a Week 5 win against the Seahawks with a fibula injury. Coach Todd Bowles told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times on Monday that he didn't expect Godwin to be available Sunday at Buffalo, so the veteran wide receiver may be merely increasing his activity level with the aim to return Week 12 or beyond.
Nov 12, 2025
Remains sidelined Wednesday
Godwin (fibula) is not participating in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is expected to remain sidelined versus Buffalo on Sunday, which would mark his fifth consecutive missed game due to a fibula injury. He hasn't practiced in any capacity in that span. Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard will continue to operate as Tampa Bay's top three wideouts if Godwin is indeed ruled out, with Mike Evans (collarbone) also out for the foreseeable future. On a positive note for the Buccaneers, RB Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) returned to practice Wednesday, though he's also expected to miss Week 11.
Nov 10, 2025
Expected to miss Week 11
Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that he doesn't expect Godwin (fibula) to play next Sunday against the Bills, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has yet to return to practice and has missed four straight games. He's looking at missing a fifth consecutive contest versus Buffalo. With Mike Evans (collarbone) also shelved, the Bucs will continue to roll with Emeka Ebguka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard at wide receiver versus Buffalo.
Nov 7, 2025
Out again
Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against New England, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin hasn't practiced for a month and will now miss a fourth consecutive game. Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard likely will be Tampa Bay's top three WRs again.
Nov 6, 2025
Remaining sidelined at practice
Godwin (fibula) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has yet to resume on-field work following the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye and appears to be on track to miss his fourth consecutive game this Sunday against the Patriots. Unless Godwin is able to reverse the trend and practice in some fashion Friday, expect the Buccaneers to officially rule him out for Sunday's game on their final Week 10 injury report.
Nov 5, 2025
Sitting out practice
Godwin (lower leg) is not expected to participate in Wednesday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin remains sidelined at practice despite Tampa Bay having had the benefit of a Week 9 bye. Head coach Todd Bowles said prior to the bye that Godwin is 'week-to-week,' though he confirmed that the veteran wideout's fibula injury has no danger of being season-ending. Still, Godwin may be trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, in which case wideouts Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson, plus tight end Cade Otton, will be in line to handle increased receiving work behind rookie standout Emeka Egbuka.
Oct 22, 2025
Not a candidate to play Week 8
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Godwin (lower leg) will not be available Sunday on the road against New Orleans, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles said Godwin, who will not practice Wednesday, remains "week-to-week" and that the team has no concerns about his fibula injury potentially being season-ending, per Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site. The same can't be said for Mike Evans, however, who Bowles said will be "touch and go" to return by the end of the regular season due to a broken collarbone suffered during Monday's loss to the Lions, per Smith. Tampa Bay will go on bye Week 9, meaning Godwin's next chance to take the field will arrive Sunday, Nov. 9 versus the Patriots in Week 10. Until Godwin retakes the field, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson will handle expanded roles at wide receiver behind rookie Emeka Egbuka.
Oct 22, 2025
Absent from practice Wednesday
Godwin (lower leg) is not participating in Wednesday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin hasn't practiced since suffering a fibula injury Week 5 against the Buccaneers, and he's since missed back-to-back games. With the Buccaneers set to go on bye Week 9, the team could take a cautious approach to Godwin's health and hold him out again during Sunday's road matchup against the Saints. With Mike Evans (collarbone) expected to miss most of the season due to a broken collarbone suffered during Monday's 24-9 loss to the Lions, Godwin's long-term health has become an increasingly crucial factor for Tampa Bay.
Oct 18, 2025
Ruled out for MNF
Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin will be sidelined for a second consecutive game due to a fibula injury that he picked up during the Buccaneers' Week 5 win over the Seahawks. The injury isn't related to the fibula that he broke during the 2024 campaign, but the Bucs will continue to play things cautiously with the veteran wideout. With Tampa Bay on a bye Week 9, the Buccaneers could hold Godwin out for Week 8 against the Saints to give the veteran wideout more time to heal, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. With Godwin and Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) both ruled out, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers may have to rely more heavily on Rachaad White, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson and Cade Otton in the offense depending on the statuses of Mike Evans (hamstring) and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring), both of whom are considered game-time calls for Monday night's game in Detroit.
Oct 17, 2025
Not practicing Friday
Godwin (fibula) didn't practice Friday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Godwin is unlikely to play this week. Continued absences from practice suggest Godwin may be ruled out as soon as Saturday, while the Bucs are at least leaving the door cracked open for fellow wideouts Mike Evans (hamstring) and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring).
Oct 16, 2025
Not practicing Thursday
Godwin (fibula) isn't practicing Thursday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the Buccaneers have yet to officially rule Godwin out for this coming Monday's game against the Lions, head coach Todd Bowles acknowledged earlier in the week that the veteran wideout is likely on track to miss a second straight contest due to a fibula injury. Godwin's absence from the team's first Week 7 practice supports that notion, and he could be one of three key playmakers that the Buccaneers will be without in a matchup with Detroit. In addition to Godwin, receiver Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) and running back Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) were spectators for Thursday's practice, though wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) returned to the field for the first time since Week 3.
Oct 13, 2025
Not expected to return Week 7
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Godwin (fibula) is "not in play" to return to the field versus the Lions in Week 7 on Monday, Oct. 20, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin didn't practice at all en route to being ruled out for Sunday's win over the 49ers, and he's slated to now miss a second consecutive game. Bowles also said running back Bucky Irving (shoulder) won't be a candidate to return for Monday Night Football versus Detroit. Tampa Bay could get Mike Evans (hamstring) back at practice, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, but with rookie phenom Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) looking uncertain for Week 7, Godwin's absence will be a notable blow for the Buccaneers' passing game.
Oct 10, 2025
Ruled out
Godwin (fibula) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers and now considered week-to-week, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
He didn't practice at all this week, after topping 70 percent snap share in Weeks 4 and 5. It appears the Bucs brought Godwin back too soon, though Bucs coach Todd Bowles said Friday that the wideout's current injury isn't to the part of his fibula that he broke last year. With both Godwin and Mike Evans (hamstring) out of the lineup again, Tampa Bay will turn to Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson alongside rookie standout Emeka Egbuka. Depth options include Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson.
Oct 10, 2025
Expected to sit versus 49ers
Godwin (fibula) isn't expected to play Sunday against the 49ers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin hasn't been officially ruled out by the team, but that could happen later Friday when the Buccaneers release their Week 6 injury report. Emeka Egbuka is set to lead a Tampa Bay receiving corps that remains without Mike Evans (hamstring), with Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson likely to see substantial playing time as well.
Oct 9, 2025
Another missed practice
Godwin (fibula) didn't practice Thursday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
All of Godwin, fellow WR Mike Evans (hamstring) and RB Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) weren't spotted at Thursday's session and subsequently went down as non-participants for a second day in a row. Both Evands and Irving are trending toward absences Sunday against the 49ers due to their respective lingering injuries, but it's unclear of Godwin's new fibula issue has him in the same boat. Friday's practice thus will be key for Godwin to put himself in a position to suit up (or not) this weekend.
Oct 9, 2025
Remains absent from practice
Godwin (fibula) wasn't spotted on the field for Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Unless he fits in some on-field work behind the scenes during the closed portion of Thursday's session, Godwin will go down as a non-participant for the Buccaneers' first two Week 6 practices. Fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) and running back Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) have joined Godwin in sitting out both practices, putting the Buccaneers at risk of being without three of their top playmakers for Sunday's game against the 49ers. If both Godwin and Evans are sidelined for the Week 6 contest, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson and Ryan Miller could all be in line for added snaps behind Emeka Egbuka, who would be locked in as Tampa Bay's clear No. 1 wideout.
Oct 8, 2025
Dealing with injured fibula
Godwin (fibula) didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers were without Godwin, fellow WR Mike Evans (hamstring) and No. 1 RB Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) to kick off Week 6 prep. Godwin himself has two games under his belt after recovering from the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of last season, but his returns (6-52-0 on 14 targets) have been minimal. With a new injury in tow, his status bears watching as the week goes on to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's contest against the 49ers.
Oct 5, 2025
Held to three catches in shootout
Godwin had three receptions on four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 38-35 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Godwin saw his efficiency improve from the 30 percent catch rate he posted in his return from injury last week. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, his target count dropped dramatically from the 10 he garnered against the Eagles in Week 4. Godwin's return from an ankle injury sustained in Week 7 of the 2024 season has come along slowly, dampening expectations for the veteran until we see a true return to form. The Buccaneers could still be without top wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) in Week 6, which would keep Godwin in the starting lineup against the 49ers next Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Set for extra opportunities again
Godwin is likely to see elevated target volume again in Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks due to Mike Evans (hamstring) being inactive for the contest.
ANALYSIS
Godwin made his return from his own serious injury -- a dislocated ankle suffered in Week 7 of last season -- in Week 4 against the Eagles, the first game of Evans' current absence. Godwin saw 10 targets across 58 snaps right out of the gate, but he was only able to haul in three of them for 26 yards. Nevertheless, with another week of practice, not to mention his first game action in nearly a year, now under his belt, Godwin could well be more efficient while facing a Seahawks secondary that will once again play without cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and safety Julian Love (hamstring).
Sep 28, 2025
Three catches in season debut
Godwin (ankle) secured three of 10 targets for 26 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-25 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin made his long-awaited season debut after completing his recovery from last October's ankle dislocation, and despite the possibility of a limited role, the veteran wideout finished tied for the team lead in targets with Emeka Egbuka. The inefficiency wasn't completely unexpected considering the coverage skills of the Eagles' secondary and Godwin's long period of inactivity, but the immediate attention from Baker Mayfield was also warranted considering the absence of Mike Evans (hamstring). Godwin is likely to remain heavily involved in a Week 5 road trip against the Seahawks, a game Evans is expected to remain sidelined for.
Sep 28, 2025
Season debut on tap
Godwin (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Godwin built up his conditioning over the last three weeks, culminating with full practices Wednesday and Friday around a scheduled rest day Thursday. Now that he's finished his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he sustained Week 7 of last season, he's ready for his first game action of 2025. The Buccaneers will be without Mike Evans (hamstring) on Sunday, so even if Godwin is inhibited at all, he'll be in the mix for passes from quarterback Baker Mayfield (right biceps) along with rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and veteran Sterling Shepard.
Sep 27, 2025
Season debut expected Sunday
Godwin (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin, who has missed the first three games of the season, was a full participant in practice Friday and is officially listed as questionable for the contest. His expected return to the mix arrives at an opportune juncture, with fellow WR Mike Evans expected to miss three-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury. Also trending toward playing versus the Eagles is QB Baker Mayfield (biceps, questionable), with the duo's Week 4 status set to be confirmed when the Buccaneers post their inactives ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 26, 2025
Questionable after full practice
Godwin (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles after logging a full practice Friday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin sandwiched full practices on Wednesday and Friday around scheduled rest Thursday. Meanwhile, Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles suggested Friday that Godwin, QB Baker Mayfield (biceps) and LT Tristan Wirfs (ankle) are all on track to play this weekend. That doesn't mean Godwin will jump right back into last year's workload or production, but the Bucs could certainly use his help after losing Mike Evans to a hamstring injury last week.
Sep 26, 2025
Questionable for Week 4
The Buccaneers are listing Godwin (ankle) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The designation was probably to be expected once Godwin upgraded to full practice participation Wednesday. He sat out Thursday for maintenance, before returning Friday, with Auman suggesting that the wideout appears on track for his season debut. Meanwhile, teammate Mike Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 4 and could miss additional time.
Sep 25, 2025
DNP on Thursday
Godwin (ankle) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is in the stretch run of his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he sustained Week 7 of last season. Prior to logging a full practice Wednesday, he was listed as limited on five of six injury reports between Weeks 2 and 3 prep. Thursday's absence may merely be maintenance after he increased his activity level significantly Wednesday, as coach Todd Bowles told Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site. Friday's practice report will unveil if Godwin indeed has a chance to make his season debut Sunday versus the Eagles, which would be nice timing for Tampa Bay's offense with fellow WR Mike Evans (hamstring) expected to miss some time.
Sep 24, 2025
Logs full practice Wednesday
Godwin (ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Between prep for Weeks 2 and 3, Godwin combined to log five limited practices in six chances to do so, including three straight to end last week. He was held out of each of the Buccaneers' first three games of the season due to the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of the 2024 campaign. Coach Todd Bowles told Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site on Wednesday that Godwin upped his activity level "a lot" from last week, as indicated by his full session, but he added that the wide receiver will be an "end-of-the-week" evaluation, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. As a result, Godwin's listing on Friday's injury report may provide the first indication that he's cleared for his first game action in nearly one year ahead of Sunday's contest against the Eagles.
Sep 21, 2025
Targeting Week 4 debut
Godwin (ankle) will remain out for Sunday's game against the Jets, but he has a "strong chance" of making his season debut Week 4 versus the Eagles, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin will end up missing the Buccaneers' first three games of the season while he works his way back from a pair of procedures on the left ankle he dislocated Oct. 21, 2024, but he looks poised to make his return to the Tampa Bay lineup less than a year after suffering the devastating injury. The veteran wideout has already been a limited participant in five of the Buccaneers' last six practices, but Schefter relays that Godwin is expected to mix into drills with the team's other starters beginning in Week 4. If all goes well in practices Wednesday through Friday, Godwin should get the green light to suit up against the Eagles, providing quarterback Baker Mayfield with another playmaker to complement wideouts Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka (hip/groin) and running back Bucky Irving. Before dislocating his ankle, Godwin was well on his way to the best season of his career in 2024, as he produced a monstrous 50-576-5 receiving line on 62 targets through seven games.
Sep 19, 2025
Ruled out for Week 3
Godwin (ankle) is nearing a return but won't play this Sunday against the Jets, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested Wednesday that Godwin could return for a Week 4 showdown with Philadelphia, which also looks like a reasonable target date for standout left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee). In any case, the Bucs have ruled out both for Week 3, after Godwin was a limited practice participant Wednesday and Thursday. An upgrade to full participation should come soon.
Sep 18, 2025
Limited again Thursday
Godwin (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
This marks Godwin's first back-to-back practices since dislocating his left ankle Week 7 of last season, indicating his conditioning is improving as he seeks to return to action. Friday's injury report will reveal if he has a chance to suit up Sunday versus the Jets, but if he doesn't and because rookie standout Emeka Egbuka (hip/groin) has yet to take part in drills this week, the Buccaneers could be forced to roll with Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson as the wide receivers not named Mike Evans in Week 3.
Sep 17, 2025
Listed as limited participant
Godwin (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
He practiced for the first time last Thursday before returning to non-activity Friday. Godwin's second instance of official practice participation is a positive sign, but reports earlier this month suggested he's unlikely to play before October and is being kept on the active roster only to practice and ramp up with teammates (rather than being restricted to a side field while on an injury list). The Buccaneers, however, haven't said anything of the sort publicly, instead waiting for the final injury report to rule Godwin out in Weeks 1 and 2.
Sep 13, 2025
Won't return in Week 2
Coach Todd Bowles said Saturday that Godwin (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game at Houston, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin logged his first practice reps Thursday since sustaining a dislocated left ankle Week 7 during the 2024 campaign, but he followed up that limited session with no activity Friday before Bowles made a ruling on his availability for Week 2. His next chance for game action arrives Sunday, Sept. 21 against the Jets, but he may need to practice on back-to-back days in order to put himself in a position to make his season debut. Mike Evans and rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka will continue to serve as the primary wide receivers for quarterback Baker Mayfield until Godwin is cleared to return.
Sep 12, 2025
Doesn't practice Friday
Godwin (ankle) didn't practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was limited Thursday in his first practice since suffering a dislocated left ankle Week 7 of last season, signaling that he was beginning to ramp up his conditioning. His next step in that regard likely will be taking part in drills on back-to-back days, which, because it didn't happen this week, may be an indication that he isn't a great candidate to return to action Monday at Houston. Ultimately, Tampa Bay can make a decision on Godwin's status for that contest when it posts its final Week 2 injury report Saturday.
Sep 11, 2025
Officially limited in return to practice
Coach Todd Bowles said Godwin (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles also told Brianna Dix of the team's official site that the Buccaneers "will see how [Godwin and T Tristan Wirfs] come along during the week. They have a lot of tests to pass." Godwin got back on the practice field Thursday for the first time since dislocating his left ankle Week 7 of last season, and while he avoided the reserve/PUP list to begin the current campaign, the expectation for Godwin in particular was to give him a chance to return to game action by the end of September. Still, Tampa Bay seemingly is keeping the door open for Godwin to suit up Monday at Houston, assuming he clears the aforementioned hurdles.
Sep 11, 2025
Expected to practice Thursday
Godwin (ankle) is expected to practice Thursday in a limited fashion, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Assuming Godwin does in fact go down as a limited participant on the Buccaneers' first Week 2 practice report, it would mark the wideout's first on-field work since he dislocated his left ankle in an Oct. 21 game against the Ravens. After undergoing an initial surgery in October, Godwin required a more minor secondary procedure in the spring to fix some of the hardware in the ankle. Ian Rapoport and Judy Battista of NFL Network previously reported Sunday that Godwin isn't expected to be ready to make his 2025 debut until at least the Buccaneers' Week 5 matchup with the Seahawks on Oct. 5, but Tampa Bay's decision not to place the receiver on injured reserve will allow him to practice with the team until he's deemed ready for game action. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Godwin is expected to take part in two of the Buccaneers' three practices this week, but he could ramp up his activity further in Week 3.
Sep 7, 2025
Eyeing Week 5 for season debut
Godwin (ankle), who is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons, is targeting the Buccaneers' Week 5 matchup with the Seahawks on Oct. 5 for his 2025 debut, Ian Rapoport and Judy Battista of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After requiring an initial surgery in October 2024 to repair a dislocated left ankle, Godwin underwent a follow-up procedure in the spring to tighten up the hardware inserted during the prior surgery. Though Godwin hasn't hit any unexpected snags in the recovery process, he has yet to resume practicing and is on track to miss at least a few more games before taking the field for the Buccaneers. Though Tampa Bay could have placed Godwin on a reserve list to open up a spot on the 53-man roster, the team avoided doing so with the hope that the veteran wideout will be able to resume practicing within the next few weeks. He'll likely need to turn in a full practice at some point during Week 5 to have a realistic shot at playing against the Seahawks, though the Buccaneers believe that a Week 6 or 7 return could be in the forecast for Godwin if he needs a little extra time to fully ramp up.
Sep 5, 2025
Officially ruled out
Godwin (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Atlanta, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin didn't practice this week and seems highly unlikely to play Week 2. Auman and other reporters have said that Godwin is on the active roster so he can practice with teammates later this month, not because the Buccaneers expect him to play in games before October. Neither team nor player have been willing to say as much, with the official word for now simply being that Godwin remains absent from practice and won't play Week 1 at Atlanta.
Sep 4, 2025
Another absence from practice
Godwin (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has begun the 2025 campaign with back-to-back DNPs, seemingly implying that he's trending toward an absence Sunday in Atlanta. He's in the later stages of his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of last season, but by avoiding the reserve/PUP list last week, he's been given a chance to be available at some point in the first month of the season. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not the Buccaneers rule him out for Week 1 action, but rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka is poised to be top WR Mike Evans' running mate for as long as Godwin is sidelined.
Sep 3, 2025
Officially begins season with DNP
Godwin (ankle) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's lack of activity to kick off the campaign isn't a surprise, as he remains in recovery mode from the season-ending dislocated left ankle that he sustained Week 7 of last year. Having said that, Tampa Bay activated him from the active/PUP list last Tuesday, thereby giving him a chance to return to action at some point during the first four weeks. For as long as Godwin is sidelined, rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka will be working in tandem with long-time Buc Mike Evans in the starting offense.
Aug 26, 2025
Passes physical, off PUP list
Godwin (ankle) passed a physical Tuesday, after which the Buccaneers activated him from the active/PUP list, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin suffered a season-ending dislocated left ankle Week 7 of last season that required surgery. In early March, he inked a three-year, $66 million contract to remain with the Buccaneers, and while there was optimism from coach Todd Bowles during the offseason program that Godwin may be available Week 1, he opened training camp on active/PUP. Now that he's been cleared to practice, Godwin can return to action as soon as Sunday, Oct. 7 in Atlanta, but Tampa Bay continues to target October for his first game action of the campaign, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. As long as Godwin remains sidelined, Mike Evans and rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka will serve as the team's top two wide receivers with Jalen McMillan out due to a sprained neck.
Aug 21, 2025
Targeting October return?
The Buccaneers plan to activate Godwin (ankle) from the active/PUP list and carry him on the 53-man roster to begin the regular season so that he will be eligible to practice, though he's considered unlikely to play until October, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is expected to be ready to practice in some capacity beginning Week 2, and Tampa Bay evidently sees merit in allowing the veteran wideout to begin ramping up as soon as he's able. An October return date would still mean Godwin misses at least the first four games of the regular season, just as if he were to begin the year on IR, with the difference being that he'll be eligible to practice in the interim if carried on the 53-man roster. The Buccaneers' plan is good news with regards to Godwin's chances of hitting the ground running, but it could cause a headache for fantasy managers in seasonal formats, as it means Godwin will have to occupy one of limited roster spots rather than be designated for one of the IR slots common to most fantasy leagues. With Jalen McMillan (neck) also expected to miss time early in the season, Mike Evans, rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and tight end Cade Otton figure to kick off 2025 with increased target volume.
Aug 5, 2025
On track, but uncertain for Week 1
Buccaneers GM Jason Licht said Tuesday that Godwin (ankle) is "exactly where" the team hoped he would be in his recovery but that the team hasn't yet made a decision on whether he will start the season on the PUP list, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin began training camp on the active/PUP list, and if shifted to the reserve/PUP list at the start of the regular season he'll have to sit out a minimum of four games before being activated. The 29-year-old wideout is recovering form a dislocated left ankle suffered Week 7 of last season, and while by all accounts his recovery has proceeded entirely on track, Godwin remains without a timeline to return to practice, and his availability for Week 1 and beyond seems truly up-in-the-air. Rookie first-rounder Emeka Egbuka, second-year wideout Jalen McMillan and TE Cade Otton (hamstring) will benefit from increased target opportunities if Godwin does have to miss time early in the regular season.
Jul 23, 2025
No timeline to practice yet
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Godwin (ankle) is "on track" but doesn't have a specific timeline to return to practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is coming back from an ankle dislocation suffered in Week 7 last season and hasn't resumed practicing. He's on the Physically Unable to Perform list for the start of training camp, with Bowles' comments suggesting a return isn't imminent. The Bucs were confident enough in Godwin's recovery to give him $44 million guaranteed on a three-year, $66 million contract in March, but the rehab process does seem to be coming along slower than many expected (at least outside the organization).
Jul 22, 2025
Officially on active/PUP list
The Buccaneers placed Godwin (ankle) on the active/PUP list Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reported that Godwin wouldn't participate in team drills at the start of training camp, but he won't take part in any on-field work as he continues his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of last season. Coach Todd Bowles told Stroud in early June that the team was "hopeful" Godwin will be healthy by Week 1, which is six-and-a-half weeks from now (Sunday, Sept. 7 in Atlanta). Prior to the injury, Godwin had put together a sterling 50-576-5 line on 62 targets in seven contests, and he re-signed with Tampa Bay this offseason via a three-year, $66 million contract.

Not cleared for team activities
Godwin (ankle) will not participate in team drills at the start of training camp, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is finishing up his rehab from the ankle dislocation that ended his 2024 campaign in Week 7. He averaged a career-high 7.1 catches per game before the injury, which led to a three-year, $66 million contract this offseason -- with two-thirds guaranteed at signing -- even though he's 29 years old and coming back from a major injury. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said in June that he was hopeful Godwin would be ready for Week 1, but neither player nor team have elaborated on whether that's the expectation or merely a possibility. Tampa Bay has solid WR depth in the meantime, with first-round pick Emeka Egbuka joining Godwin, Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan.

Optimism for Week 1
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Godwin (ankle) is "working hard" approaching mandatory minicamp and that the team is "hopeful" he'll be ready to go Week 1, Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin began the 2024 campaign on fire, averaging 7.1 targets and 82.3 yards per game while scoring five times across the first seven weeks of the season, but a dislocated left ankle cut what could have been a career year short. That injury didn't impact Tampa Bay's decision to extend Godwin a three-year, $66 million contract in March, another indication that the team expects him to be at full strength for 2025, though Bowles did indicate that his most significant recovery benchmarks won't occur until training camp. The 29-year-old returns to familiar offensive circumstances alongside quarterback Baker Mayfield and star wideout Mike Evans, though the selection of rookie first-round receiver Emeka Egbuka and replacement of Liam Coen with Josh Grizzard at offensive coordinator are both notable developments. Even back at full health, Godwin will have difficulty replicating the workload and efficiency that buoyed his production to an elite tier in 2024.
Mar 10, 2025
Re-signs for three years
Godwin (ankle) and the Buccaneers reached agreement Monday on a three-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin will stay with the only NFL team he's ever known, reportedly getting a $66 million contract that has two-thirds of the money guaranteed at signing. He would've signed an even larger deal if his fantastic 2024 campaign hadn't been cut short by a dislocated ankle Week 7. It's a good sign that the team with the most information about his recovery was willing to give Godwin a large contract, but we still haven't seen any reports about a recovery timeline or the possibility of ligament damage in his injured ankle. Godwin turned 29 in February, after averaging a career-high 19.7 PPR points in his seven games last season. He's unlikely to approach that level of production in 2025, coming back from a major injury to rejoin a Tampa Bay offense that now has WR Jalen McMillan competing for targets and Josh Grizzard replacing Liam Coen as the playcaller.

Not expected to get franchise tag
The Buccaneers aren't planning to use the franchise tag on Godwin (ankle), Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay has already used the tag on Godwin twice, so using it again would result in a 144 percent raise, Laine notes. She also states that the Buccaneers want Godwin back and that the wideout wants to return to the club, so there appears to be a mutual desire to get a new deal completed. Godwin ended last season on IR due to an ankle injury that he suffered in mid-October, but he's expected to be ready for the start of next season, which will be his ninth in the NFL -- all of which to this point have been with Tampa Bay.
Feb 18, 2025
Has void date on contract extended
The Buccaneers and Godwin (ankle) agreed Tuesday to push back the void date on his contract to March 11, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is slated to be an unrestricted free agent, and by extending the veteran wideout's void date until the final day before the start of the new league year, the two sides will have more time to negotiate a new deal. Auman notes that Tampa Bay will carry some dead money from Godwin's current deal in 2025 no matter what, but the Buccaneers will divide the cap hit between the next two years -- as opposed to all $18 million being on the books for next season -- if they are able to work out an extension with the soon-to-be 29-year-old. Godwin ended last season on injured reserve after suffering a dislocated left ankle Week 7 against Baltimore, but he's expected to be recovered by the start of 2025 training camp.
Oct 23, 2024
Officially placed on IR
The Buccaneers placed Godwin (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that Godwin is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign due to a left ankle dislocation suffered Monday night against Baltimore. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Godwin underwent successful surgery Wednesday, and that there's a possibility the veteran wideout could retake the field if Tampa Bay makes a deep playoff push, albeit only a slight chance. With Mike Evans (hamstring) expected to log a three-game absence, quarterback Baker Mayfield will now have to turn to Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard as the top options in his wide receiver room, beginning Sunday against Atlanta. Godwin, meanwhile, will turn 29 in February and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
Oct 22, 2024
Likely done for season
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that Godwin will undergo surgery on his dislocated left ankle and will "probably be out for the year," Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles didn't completely close the door on Godwin playing again in 2024, but the wideout would likely need to make a swifter recovery than what is typically associated with a dislocated ankle, and the Buccaneers would also need to make a deep playoff run. After hurting his ankle with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter of Monday's 41-31 loss to the Ravens, Godwin will be embarking on rehab for the second major injury of his career, as he previously tore the ACL and MCL in his knee in Week 15 of the 2021 season. Before going down with the injury, Godwin was in the midst of a stellar season, having put together a 50-576-5 receiving line on 62 targets through seven games. Godwin is scheduled for free agency this offseason and will turn 29 years old in February.
Oct 22, 2024
Season-ending surgery on tap
Godwin is scheduled to undergo surgery on his dislocated left ankle Tuesday and is expected to miss the rest of the season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter of Monday's 41-31 loss to the Ravens with the left ankle injury, with Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirming in his postgame press conference that the "early indication" was that the wideout suffered a dislocation. The 28-year-old is slated to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of the damage, which will help doctors decide on what type of surgery he'll require. A timeline for his recovery should be provided once surgery is completed, but fantasy managers should prepare for Godwin's 2024 campaign to come to an end after just seven games. While moving back into the slot on a full-time basis this season under first-year offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Godwin was well on his way to a fourth consecutive 1,000-plus-yard receiving campaign, as he had amassed 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns. Godwin's expected absence should clear the way for Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard to take on more snaps behind No.
Oct 22, 2024
Likely suffered dislocated ankle
Godwin is feared to have suffered a dislocated ankle in Monday's loss to Baltimore, head coach Todd Bowles told NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
With about a minute left in the game, Godwin made a 21-yard reception but appeared to severely twist his left leg when he landed on the ground. He was later carted off the field with an air cast on his leg. It sounds like Godwin suffered a season-ending injury, but confirmation on his status will likely come after test results on Tuesday.
Oct 21, 2024
Carted off field
Godwin was carted off the field Monday against the Ravens with his lower left leg in an air cast, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin suffered the leg injury inside the final minute of Monday's contest. It appears to be a serious one. He had accumulated 65 yards on seven receptions prior to going down.
Oct 13, 2024
Season- best effort Sunday
Godwin brought in 11 of 13 targets for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Buccaneers across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets with totals that also all qualified as season highs. The veteran receiver has been an ideal fit in offensive coordinator Liam Coen's system thus far, recording no fewer than five catches in any game and already recording five touchdowns through six games after only combining for that many over the prior pair of campaigns. Following his first multi-score game of the season, Godwin will likely play another sizable role in a Week 7 interconference home showdown against the Ravens on Monday night, Oct. 21.
Oct 4, 2024
Modest numbers in OT loss
Godwin secured five of six targets for 64 yards and committed a fumble recovered by Tampa Bay in the Buccaneers' 36-30 overtime loss to the Falcons on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin co-led the Buccaneers in receptions while setting the pace in receiving yards on the night. However, his target total, which was second on the night to Mike Evans' seven, was Godwin's lowest of the season through five games. Nevertheless, the veteran Penn State product has a critical role in coordinator Liam Coen's offense and next takes aim at a talented Saints secondary in Week 6 road matchup on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Sep 29, 2024
Six catches in big win
Godwin secured six of nine targets for 69 yards in the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was either tied for second or the sole runner-up across the board to Mike Evans in terms of his receiving line. Godwin has no fewer than six receptions or eight targets in any of his first four games, although Sunday did see his season-opening three-game touchdown streak come to an end. The Penn State product heads into a Week 4 road divisional clash against the Falcons with a rock-solid fantasy floor and appears to be a seamless fit in new coordinator Liam Coen's offense.
Sep 27, 2024
Cleared to face Eagles
Godwin (neck) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Neither does Mike Evans, whose absence from practice Friday was attributed to 'knee/rest'. Godwin was a limited participant throughout the week and should be ready for his usual workload come Sunday.
Sep 26, 2024
Another limited session
Godwin (neck) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for position mate Mike Evans (knee), with both players having a cap on their practice reps so far during Week 4 prep. Friday's injury report thus will be key for both players' statuses entering the weekend as the Buccaneers gear up for Sunday's contest against the Eagles.
Sep 25, 2024
Tending to neck issue
Godwin was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a neck injury, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Godwin and Mike Evans (knee) are kicking off Week 4 prep with the same amount of on-field work, placing a cloud over the upcoming availability of Tampa Bay's top two wide receivers. The pair will have two opportunities to get back to full this week before the team potentially gives them designations ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Eagles.
Sep 22, 2024
Another TD in Week 3 loss
Godwin secured six of nine targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 26-7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was about the only highlight for the Buccaneers' offense, which endured a surprisingly miserable afternoon at the hands of the Broncos defense. Baker Mayfield threw for only 163 yards while taking seven sacks, and Godwin accounted for team-high yardage and targets under those conditions. The veteran wideout's score, his third in as many games this season, further corroborates his outsized role in coordinator Liam Coen's offense, and Godwin will therefore continue to enjoy a bright fantasy outlook heading into a Week 4 home matchup against the Eagles.
Sep 15, 2024
Shines early in Week 2 win
Godwin caught seven of eight targets for 117 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Godwin accounted for Baker Mayfield's first seven completions, including a 41-yard touchdown catch. Tampa Bay's passing game slowed down after that, as Mayfield finished with only 185 yards, but the Buccaneers hung on for the win. Godwin has already equaled last season's total of two touchdown catches while racking up exactly 200 receiving yards heading into Week 3 against the Broncos.
Sep 8, 2024
Leading receiver in Week 1 win
Godwin converted all eight of his targets into receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was the leading receiver for Tampa Bay in terms of receptions, targets and yardage, but fellow star wideout Mike Evans grabbed two of Baker Mayfield's four touchdown passes Sunday. More importantly, the 28-year-old looked healthy running routes in the win after battling minor leg injuries in past seasons. Both Godwin and Evans make for fine fantasy starters on a weekly basis, including next Sunday's tilt against the Lions.
Aug 23, 2024
One catch in preseason finale
Godwin caught his only target for nine yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay's starting offense (sans the resting Mike Evans) played the opening drive, and Godwin caught one of Baker Mayfield's three completions. Godwin has topped 1,000 receiving yards in four of the past five regular seasons, and the 28-year-old wide receiver is expected to play a key role in the passing attack once again when the games start to count Sept. 8 against the Commanders.
Aug 17, 2024
Not expected to play
Godwin and most other starters aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Jacksonville, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Todd Bowles didn't specifically name Godwin, but Bowles did say QB Baker Mayfield won't play and suggested the approach will be similar to that from Tampa's preseason opener (in which Mayfield, Godwin and many others were held out). Bowles said last week that he's leaning toward playing more starters in the third and final preseason game.
Jul 27, 2024
Standing out early in camp
Godwin has impressed over the first few practices of training camp and has caught the eye of fellow star wideout Mike Evans, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. "He's going to have a great year," said Evans of Godwin. "Y'all saw him today - he looks like he's in midseason form. He's making plays, going deep, looks like the 2019 Chris Godwin."
ANALYSIS
Godwin has battled injuries and underutilization in the red zone over the last few seasons, but he's still turned three consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. However, the 2017 third-round pick has just 10 touchdowns on 285 receptions in that span, the fewest scoring grabs of any player with at least 200 catches during that period. Evans himself has called for the Buccaneers to give Godwin more red-zone and downfield opportunities, and with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen now at the helm, there may be a change in how the veteran wideout is deployed.
Mar 12, 2024
Bucs running it back on offense
Godwin will benefit from offensive stability with Tampa Bay slated to re-sign quarterback Baker Mayfield to a three-year, $100 million contract and Mike Evans having returned via a two-year, $52 million contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin at one point looked like he'd have to adapt to another change under center while potentially also having to line up with Evans elsewhere for the first time in his career, but the Buccaneers' early offseason moves have instead secured impressive offensive stability. The retention of both Mayfield and Evans should provide fantasy managers real confidence that Godwin's involvement on offense will remain effective and core to Tampa Bay's game plan, especially with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen having stated that he envisions the 28-year-old wideout moving back to the slot. Godwin has put together three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving campaigns, and it's possible the passing game could take a real step forward in 2024 with Mayfield more comfortable Year 2 under center.
Feb 6, 2024
Likely returning to slot
New Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen said Tuesday that he anticipates moving Godwin back inside to the slot, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin took 32 percent of his snaps from the slot in 2023, down from 60 percent the previous year and 53 percent in 2021. His volume didn't suffer too much (130 targets), but his catch rate plunged to 63.8 percent after four straight years above 71 percent, and he finished with his lowest per-game averages for receptions (4.9) and receiving yards (60.2) since 2018 (which was also the last time his slot rate dipped below 49 percent). While perfectly capable on the perimeter, Godwin is probably at his best inside and tends to earn more targets when he's there. The shift to more outside work last season apparently stemmed from the Bucs' belief that it might help keep him healthy, and while Godwin did in fact play every game for the first time since 2017-18, he's nonetheless expected to man the slot more often with the team shifting from Dave Canales to Coen as offensive coordinator. It sounds like a good thing for his fantasy value, especially given the likelihood that Godwin also gets a lot of playing time in
Jan 21, 2024
Four receptions in playoff defeat
Godwin brought in four of eight targets for 40 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout couldn't shake loose for any big gains against the Lions' inconsistent secondary, but he still finished third in receptions and receiving yards while tying for second in targets. Godwin's final line was fairly representative of his final month's worth of games, as he topped out at six receptions and 81 yards in terms of single-game highs over the last four contests. However, Godwin did post an impressive 83-1,024-2 line across 17 regular-season contests, but he is slated to draw a robust $20 million base salary and count $27.5 million overall against the team's cap in 2024.
Jan 19, 2024
Clear for divisional round
Godwin (knee/personal) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers kept close tabs on Godwin's on-field work this week, holding him out of Wednesday's walkthrough before capping his reps at Thursday's walkthrough due to a knee injury. He then missed practice entirely Friday because of a personal issue, but neither concern will impact his availability for the Buccaneers' second contest of this postseason. Back in Week 6, Godwin hauled in six of seven targets for 77 yards against the Lions in a 20-6 loss.
Jan 18, 2024
Limited in Thursday's walkthrough
Godwin (knee) was limited at Thursday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Godwin had practice restrictions due to a knee issue back in Weeks 15 and 16, and his day off last Friday also was attributed to a knee concern. At Wednesday's walkthrough, he logged no activity for the same reason, but his ability to get back on the field one day later seems to imply he's trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit. In the end, Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not Godwin enters the weekend with a designation.
Jan 17, 2024
Listed as 'DNP' in walk-through
Godwin (knee) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
During the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday night, Godwin logged 51 of a possible 70 snaps on offense en route to catching four of his five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown. Now that the wideout has logged a 'DNP' to start the practice week, however, his status is worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's divisional round playoff game against the Lions.
Jan 16, 2024
Caps win with touchdown
Godwin brought in four of five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card in over the Eagles on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin had a relatively quiet night until the latter portion of the fourth quarter, when he put the Buccaneers' final points of the night on the board with a 23-yard touchdown grab. Godwin now has at least four receptions in five of the last six games and scored twice in the last three, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Sunday afternoon divisional-round battle against the Lions that could feature plenty of passing.
Jan 7, 2024
Paces pass catchers in win
Godwin brought in six of seven targets for 51 yards and rushed once for four yards in the Buccaneers' 9-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards on a quiet day for the air attack. The veteran wideout finished the regular season on a high note, recording at least six receptions in three of the last four games and posting over 50 receiving yards in each of the final five contests of the regular season. Godwin also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the third straight campaign and fourth time in the last five years with Sunday's production, and he'll draw a favorable matchup to open the postseason against the Eagles' shaky secondary in a home wild-card matchup next weekend.
Jan 1, 2024
Scores impressive TD in loss
Godwin brought in three of five targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-13 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin checked in second in receiving yards for the Bucs on the afternoon, getting to that total with an impressive 47-yard touchdown grab with 1:37 remaining. Godwin now has at least 78 receiving yards in three straight contests, and with Sunday's production, he heads into the Week 18 regular-season finale just 27 yards short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard season.
Dec 24, 2023
Another impressive showing in win
Godwin brought in six of 11 targets for 78 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-12 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Buccaneers in targets while checking in tied for second in receptions and as the sole runner-up in receiving yards. The veteran wideout has been the subject of plenty of Baker Mayfield's attention during the last two games, which have arguably been the quarterback's best yet this season. In that span, Godwin has brought in 16 of his 23 targets for 233 yards, his most productive two-game stretch of the season by far. Godwin will look to carry the momentum over into a Week 17 home divisional clash against a stingy Saints secondary.
Dec 22, 2023
Good to go
Godwin (knee) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin had season highs for catches (10) and receiving yards (155) while playing through the same injury during last week's 34-20 win over the Packers. He's now avoided an injury designation altogether, following last week's 'questionable' tag, with a full practice Friday confirming his knee isn't a serious problem.
Dec 22, 2023
Returns to practice
Godwin (knee) returned to practice Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin played through the same injury last week after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, ultimately catching 10 of 12 targets for a season-high 155 yards in a 34-20 win over the Packers. He should be fine to play at Jacksonville on Sunday, especially after missing just one practice (Thursday) this week.
Dec 21, 2023
Doesn't practice Thursday
Godwin (knee) officially didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After opening Week 16 prep with a limited session Wednesday, Godwin's absence from the field one day later was forecast by the fact he wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of the practice, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Thus, Godwin's listing on Friday's injury report should be telling for his upcoming availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He was able to play through the knee issue Week 15 in Green Bay, where he turned 12 targets into 10 catches for 155 yards.
Dec 21, 2023
Missing from practice Thursday
Godwin (knee) wasn't spotted on the field Thursday and appears set to be listed as a non-participant for the Buccaneers' second Week 16 practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was listed as questionable heading into the Buccaneers' Week 15 game against the Packers with the same injury, but he proceeded to suit up for that contest and turned in his best performance of the season in Tampa Bay's 34-20 win, finishing with a 10-155-0 receiving line on 12 targets. The wideout opened Week 16 prep Wednesday as a limited practice participant, but it's unclear if his absence Thursday is maintenance-related or the result of a setback with the knee injury. More clarity on Godwin's status heading into Sunday's game against the Jaguars should come following the Buccaneers' final practice of the week Friday.
Dec 20, 2023
Limited Wednesday
Godwin (knee) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Godwin also tended to a knee injury during Week 15 prep, which contained him to just one full practice last Friday. While he entered the weekend as questionable for this past Sunday's game at Green Bay, he didn't look worse for wear as he ran roughshod over the Packers defense for 10 catches (on 12 targets) for 155 yards, including four plays of 20-plus yards. With the aforementioned health concern following him into this week, Godwin's status will need to be watched to ensure he isn't in danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.
Dec 17, 2023
Eclipses century mark in win
Godwin brought in 10 of 12 targets for 155 yards in the Buccaneers' 34-20 win over the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After a season full of mostly middling outputs, Godwin finally looked like the talented and versatile threat he's served as for most of his career. Godwin did have an 8-114 line against the Saints back in Week 4, but Sunday's reception and receiving yardage totals were both season highs, while his target tally tied his high-water mark of the campaign. Godwin now has 15 receptions for 208 yards over the last two games after a catchless outing in Week 13, and he'll therefore head into a Week 16 home matchup against the Jaguars on Christmas Eve with plenty of momentum.
Dec 17, 2023
Ready to go Sunday
Godwin (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Godwin took a questionable tag into the weekend after he was held out of the Buccaneers' first two Week 15 practices due to the knee issue before he returned to the field Friday as a full participant. The wideout's ability to close out the week by taking every rep in practice suggests he shouldn't face any major restrictions Sunday, despite the fact that he received the questionable tag heading into the contest. Godwin is coming off a Week 14 outing in which he saw his second-highest target count (11) of the season, though he finished with a modest 5-53-0 receiving line in the Buccaneers' 29-25 win over the Falcons.
Dec 16, 2023
Expected to play against Packers
Godwin (knee), officially listed as questionable, remains a game-time decision but is expected to play Sunday against the Packers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin practiced in full Friday, so this news isn't all that surprising. Nevertheless, it will be worth monitoring his official status before the Buccaneers kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Dec 15, 2023
Considered a game-time decision
Godwin (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, with coach Todd Bowles saying Friday that he considers the wide receiver a game-time decision, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite what Bowles said, Godwin appears on track to play after managing full participation in his return to practice Friday. That would seem to confirm his absences Wednesday and Thursday were precautionary, though fantasy managers will still want to make sure Godwin isn't on the inactive list ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Dec 15, 2023
Closing out week with practice
Godwin (knee) is practicing Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin handled a full workload (11 targets, 84 percent snap share) in last Sunday's 29-25 win over Atlanta but then missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. His return Friday confirms the knee injury isn't serious, giving him a chance to play this Sunday against the Packers. Godwin has reached 11 PPR points just four times this season, with all four instances coming in consecutive appearances Weeks 4-8. He's recorded six or fewer catches for 58 or fewer yards in every other game, and his only TD since October came on a carry Week 13 when he finished without any receptions in a win over Carolina.
Dec 14, 2023
Sits out Thursday's practice
Godwin (knee) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin will remain a spectator for practice for the second day in a row while he tends to the knee injury that he apparently sustained at some point in this past Sunday's 29-25 win over Atlanta, even though it seemingly didn't affect his snap count. The wideout will look to get back on the field in some capacity Friday, but if he remains anything other than a full participant for that practice session, he'll likely receive an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay.
Dec 13, 2023
Managing knee issue
Godwin was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's last appearance on the Buccaneers' injury report due to a legitimate health concern came back in Week 13 when he was nursing a neck issue, but he's dealing with a new injury coming out of this past Sunday's 29-25 win over the Buccaneers. The wideout didn't appear to be inhibited against Atlanta while he played more than 80 percent of the offensive snaps and drew 11 targets, so it's possible that he was held out of Wednesday's practice for maintenance-related reasons. Godwin's activity during practices Thursday and Friday will be more telling with regard to his availability for Sunday's game in Green Bay.
Dec 11, 2023
Paces Bucs in yardage Sunday
Godwin brought in five of 11 targets for 53 yards in the Buccaneers' 29-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Bucs in receptions, receiving yards and targets, helping pick up the slack for an atypically inefficient Mike Evans, who brought in one of six targets for eight yards. Godwin saved his best for last as well, recording a team-high 32-yard grab on what would turn out to be Tampa Bay's game-winning drive. Godwin's solid day was an especially welcome sight considering he was shut out of the air attack altogether in Week 13 against the Panthers. Godwin will aim to build on Sunday's production in a Week 15 road matchup against the Packers.
Dec 4, 2023
Gets into end zone Sunday
Godwin failed to catch any of his three targets but took his only carry 19 yards for a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout carried a questionable tag into the game due to a lingering neck issue, and Godwin didn't appear to be 100 percent as he failed to catch a pass in a game he played in for the first time since 2018. However, he salvaged his day with a jet sweep in the red zone early in the fourth quarter for just the second rushing TD of Godwin's career. He'll look to rebound as a pass catcher Week 14 against the Falcons.
Dec 3, 2023
Active in Week 13, as expected
Godwin (neck) is active for Sunday's Week 13 clash against the Panthers, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Early Sunday reports indicated Godwin, who drew a questionable tag after missing Friday's practice, was expected to suit up as long as he checked out fine during pregame warmups. With that hurdle now cleared, the veteran wideout will aim to boost his production back up after posting just 13 receptions for 138 yards on 20 targets over his last three games, failing to top 54 receiving yards in any of the contests during that span.
Dec 3, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Godwin (neck) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is officially listed as questionable due to a neck injury, but as long as all goes well in pre-game workouts, he's expected to take the field versus Carolina. The 27-year-old was initially called a game-time decision by head coach Todd Bowles, but at this point it would be surprising if he ends up listed on Tampa Bay's inactive list, which will be released 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. kickoff.
Dec 3, 2023
Trending toward playing Week 13
Godwin (neck) is considered likely to play Sunday versus Carolina pending his status during pregame warmups, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was a limited participant during practice Thursday before sitting out Friday's session due to a neck injury. The 27-year-old was deemed a game-time decision by Todd Bowles on Friday. While his status will still come down to his performance in pregame warmups, it appears Godwin should be good to go for Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 1, 2023
Status in question for Sunday
Godwin (neck) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was a midweek addition to Tampa Bay's Week 13 injury report, showing up as limited Thursday due to a neck issue. He followed it up with an absence from Friday's session, after which coach Todd Bowles called Godwin a game-time decision, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. Godwin's status won't be clarified until about 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, so there will be fewer wide receivers to pivot to if he's unable to suit up. Buccaneers that would stand to benefit behind Mike Evans if that happens are WRs Trey Palmer and Deven Thompkins and TE Cade Otton.
Dec 1, 2023
Game-time call
Coach Todd Bowles considers Godwin (neck) a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with Carolina, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs added Godwin to their injury report Thursday as a limited participant, then held him out of practice entirely Friday. He apparently has a chance to play nonetheless, with Bowles suggesting Friday afternoon that the wide receiver's status is uncertain heading into a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Godwin likely will be listed as questionable on the final injury report, with a Sunday absence meaning more playing time for Deven Thompkins and increased the target-share projections for Mike Evans, Trey Palmer and TE Cade Otton.
Dec 1, 2023
Not at practice
Godwin (neck) isn't practicing Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a poor sign for his Week 13 availability after he was a mid-week addition to the injury report, listed as limited in Thursday's practice. If Godwin can't play Sunday against the Panthers, his absence presumably would lead to more playing time for No. 4 WR Deven Thompkins, and possibly more targets for starters Mike Evans and Trey Palmer.
Nov 30, 2023
Limited Thursday by neck issue
Godwin was added to the Buccaneers' Week 13 injury report Thursday as a limited practice participant due to a neck issue.
ANALYSIS
Since he wasn't included on the initial Week 13 injury report released Wednesday, Godwin may have hurt his neck at some point during Thursday's practice session. Godwin will have one more opportunity to practice Friday before the Buccaneers potentially hand him an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Nov 26, 2023
Three catches in loss
Godwin brought in three of seven targets for 45 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-20 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin tied for second in receiving yards and was the runner-up in targets on the afternoon for Tampa Bay, but his numbers have to once again be considered a disappointment. The seven-year veteran nearly came down with a touchdown grab in the right corner of the end zone on Kyle Trask's one pass attempt, and he's now gone without a score in four consecutive contests. Godwin has failed to top 54 receiving yards in five straight games as well, dampening his fantasy outlook heading into a Week 13 home matchup against the Panthers.
Nov 24, 2023
Good to go
Godwin (knee/elbow) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs listed Godwin as a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday. It seems neither of his injuries is serious, and he should handle his usual role catching short and intermediate passes from QB Baker Mayfield.
Nov 23, 2023
Keeps limited listing Thursday
Godwin (knee/elbow) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers continue to place listed restrictions on Godwin's activity level this week due to knee and elbow injuries, giving the wide receiver just one more chance to get back to full before week's end. Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game in Indianapolis.
Nov 22, 2023
Limited due to pair of injuries
Godwin was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to knee and elbow injuries, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin wasn't known to be dealing with any health concerns during this past Sunday's 27-14 loss to the 49ers, so his limitations Wednesday were either the result of a previously unreported injury or an in-practice setback. Whatever the case, Godwin's practice activity will now warrant tracking over the next two days to get a sense of his odds of playing Sunday at Indianapolis.
Nov 19, 2023
Six grabs against Niners
Godwin caught six of seven targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The wideout tied Rachaad White for the team lead in receptions, but Godwin was only fourth in yardage as his longest grab went for only 11 yards. He hasn't shown the same chemistry with new quarterback Baker Mayfield this season that Mike Evans has, and while Godwin has caught at least five passes in seven of 10 games so far in 2023, he has only one TD and is on pace to fall short of 1,000 yards over a full campaign for the first time since 2018.
Nov 12, 2023
Plays through illness Sunday
Godwin (illness) secured four of six targets for 54 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-6 win over the Titans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout worked through his ailment to finish second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Mike Evans on the afternoon. Godwin's numbers Sunday were certainly an improvement over his season-worst 2-16 line against the Texans in Week 9, but he'll head into a tough Week 11 road matchup against the 49ers having recorded 77 yards or fewer in five consecutive contests.
Nov 12, 2023
Active Sunday, despite illness
Godwin is active for Sunday's game against the Titans, and he's expected to play despite dealing with an illness, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin didn't appear on the Buccaneers' Week 10 injury report and didn't carry a designation into the contest, so the illness is likely something that emerged at some point Saturday or earlier Sunday. While the nature of Godwin's ailment isn't known, it's not believed to be anything that will prevent him from handling his usual starting role Sunday. However, it's possible his snaps count be scaled back if the illness is inhibiting him in any way as the contest rolls along.
Nov 5, 2023
Two catches in Week 9 loss
Godwin brought in two of six targets for 16 yards in the Buccaneers' 39-37 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's output was disappointingly muted in the back-and-forth affair, with both his catch and yardage totals qualifying as season lows. The veteran receiver has topped 77 yards just once this season and has seen his totals decrease from that of the prior week in four consecutive games. Following Sunday's quiet afternoon, Godwin seemingly has nowhere to go but up in a Week 10 home matchup against a vulnerable Titans pass defense.
Oct 26, 2023
Scores in Week 8 loss
Godwin brought in five of seven targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 24-18 loss to the Bills on Thursday night. He also rushed once for 14 yards.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Buccaneers wideouts in receptions, receiving yards and targets, with only versatile running back Rachaad White outperforming him. The veteran receiver also recorded both his first touchdown and rush attempt of the season, the former coming on a three-yard scoring grab just past the midway point of the second quarter. Godwin has at least five receptions and 50 yards in all but one game this season heading into a Week 9 road matchup against the Texans on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Oct 26, 2023
Suiting up Thursday
Godwin (neck) is listed as active Thursday at Buffalo, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin opened Week 8 prep with no activity due to a neck injury, but he followed it up with a limited walkthrough Tuesday and full practice Wednesday. Despite being listed as questionable for Thursday's game, he'll be available to the Buccaneers offense as expected, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Godwin and Mike Evans thus will be looking to exploit a Bills defense that has yielded the seventh-most YPT (8.7) to opposing wide receivers this season.
Oct 26, 2023
Expected to take on Bills
Godwin (neck) is expected to play Thursday against Buffalo, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin, who is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's road matchup, is expected to take the field at Buffalo. He should also have his usual quarterback available, as Baker Mayfield (knee) is also expected to play despite being listed as questionable. Godwin's status will be officially confirmed roughly 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 25, 2023
Status in question for Thursday
Godwin (neck) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game at Buffalo, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
There was some worry when Godwin showed up on the Buccaneers' first Week 8 practice report as a non-participant due to a neck injury, but he followed it up as limited at Tuesday's walkthrough and full at Wednesday's practice. The same can be said for quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee), but both players' statuses for game day remain in question. Expect Godwin's availability to be confirmed about 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 24, 2023
Limited Tuesday
Godwin (neck) was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
After opening Week 8 prep as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate due to a neck issue, Godwin was able to handle some on-field work one day later, potentially putting him on a path to being available Thursday at Buffalo. His activity level Wednesday likely will determine whether or not he has a designation ahead of that contest.
Oct 23, 2023
Tending to neck issue
Godwin was listed as a non-participant on the Buccaneers' first Week 8 practice report due to a neck injury Monday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's snap share (72 percent) during Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Falcons wasn't far off his typical range this season (74-86 percent), and he also received a campaign-high 12 targets, which he turned into six catches for 66 yards. In the wake of the contest, he's dealing with a health concern, but he still has two more chances this week to put himself in a position to play Thursday at Buffalo.
Oct 22, 2023
Involvement ticking up
Godwin recorded six receptions on 12 targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Despite a mediocre line, there are reasons to be optimistic about Godwin's performance and his recent involvement in the offense. He led the team with 12 targets and out-targeted Mike Evans for the first time this season in a game in which both pass catchers played a full snap count. Godwin also recorded a 33-yard reception, his fourth gain of 20 or more yards in his last three games after having only one such catch in his first three contests. However, he'll face a Bills defense in Week 8 that has effectively limited opposing receivers for much of the season.
Oct 15, 2023
Racks up 77 yards in win
Godwin recorded six receptions on seven targets for 77 yards in Sunday's 20-6 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Godwin finished tied for second on the team with seven targets, but he was by far the most efficient pass catcher and paced the team in yardage. Particularly positive has been his more aggressive usage down the field of late, as he has three receptions of 20 or more yards -- one of which came against the Lions -- in his last two games after tallying only one across his first three contests. Mike Evans has served as Baker Mayfield's top target early on this season, but Godwin now has at least five catches in four of five contests.
Oct 1, 2023
Eclipses century mark in win
Godwin secured eight of 11 targets for 114 yards and failed to complete his only pass attempt in the Buccaneers' 26-9 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin paced the Buccaneers across the board in a pass-catching capacity with what were also season-high figures across the board. Godwin benefited from the early exit of teammate Mike Evans, who was forced from the game in the first half with a hamstring injury. Godwin will now have a chance to build additional rapport with Baker Mayfield during a Week 5 bye, and if Evans isn't ready to return for a Week 6 home showdown against the Lions, Godwin will have a chance to serve as the top target in that contest.
Sep 25, 2023
Modest performance in loss
Godwin brought in three of five targets for 32 yards and caught a two-point conversion pass in the Buccaneers' 25-11 loss to the Eagles on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin finished tied for second in receptions and was the runner-up in receiving yards on the night for the Buccaneers. Baker Mayfield predictably endured a difficult night overall against a talented Eagles defense, so Godwin's modest numbers should mostly be viewed in that context. However, it's also important to note Godwin's three-game body of work with Mayfield has been underwhelming as a whole, as he has just 13 receptions for 141 yards and no touchdowns across 19 targets heading into a tough Week 4 road matchup against the Saints.
Sep 17, 2023
Five catches in Week 2 win
Godwin secured five of eight targets for 58 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-17 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin put together a second straight solid performance to open the campaign, although he was again outpaced statistically by fellow wideout Mike Evans. Godwin finished a distant second to his teammate in yardage, although 70 of Evans' 171 came on a catch-and-run play. Meanwhile, the two players co-led the Buccaneers in targets, which should offer some encouragement to Godwin's fantasy managers. He'll look to make a bigger mark, albeit in a tough matchup, versus the Eagles in a Week 3 home matchup Monday night, Sept. 25.
Sep 10, 2023
Five catches to open season
Godwin secured five of six targets for 51 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin served as the runner-up to Mike Evans in receptions, receiving yards and targets, with the dependable Penn State product joining the latter as Baker Mayfield's two most trusted pass catchers on the afternoon. That should largely be the norm on most weeks this season, and Godwin's final catch of the day, an 11-yard grab on third down at the two-minute warning that essentially sealed the win for Tampa Bay, is a fitting example of the veteran's reliability in clutch scenarios. Godwin's first opportunity to build on a solid start to the season comes in a Week 2 home matchup against the Bears.
Aug 26, 2023
Dominates first quarter
Godwin caught each of his four targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Godwin ran circles around Baltimore's second-string defense and accounted for four of the six targets from starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. There's no doubt Godwin and Mike Evans will be Mayfield's main targets this season, starting with a Week 1 road game against the Vikings.
Aug 26, 2023
Playing with Mayfield in finale
Godwin will have first in-game opportunity to work with newly named starting quarterback Baker Mayfield in Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mayfield was named the starting quarterback Tuesday after winning a tightly contested job battle with Kyle Trask. The Buccaneers then announced the 2018 first overall pick would play the first half versus Baltimore along with Godwin and Mike Evans, giving the trio their first in-game opportunity to work together. Godwin and the rest of his offensive teammates have been learning new coordinator Dave Canales' system since OTAs, and the versatile Penn State product should see plenty of action in the short and intermediate areas of the field that the scheme is expected to focus on.
Aug 11, 2023
Unlikely to play Friday
Godwin isn't in line to play in Friday's preseason contest versus the Steelers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Godwin and Mike Evans aren't suiting up for Tampa Bay's exhibition opener, which will give Russell Gage, Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and David Moore, among others, a chance for reps at wide receiver. Godwin's next opportunity for some preseason action will happen Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Jets.
Jul 26, 2023
Feeling good ahead of 2023
Godwin is set to enter the 2023 season with a clean bill of health, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin said Wednesday that he was in "survivor mode" in 2022 and that he's "excited to be healthy" and ready to perform at a high level in 2023. The wide receiver was hindered my hip and knee injuries last season, but he was able to compile a career-high 104 catches while recording 1,023 receiving yards and three touchdowns over 15 contests. Now operating without Tom Brady, it's possible that his fantasy value takes a slight hit with either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask under center this year.
May 10, 2023
To see more outside work
Godwin, who played 60 percent of his snaps in the slot in 2022, is expected to see a lot more work on the outside next season, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith adds that when factoring in formations when Godwin lined up tight with the offensive line or in the backfield, the veteran wideout was on the outside for just 27 percent of his 834 snaps from scrimmage. Godwin's production certainly wasn't any worse for wear -- he recorded a career-high 104 receptions and posted his third career 1,000-yard season in the process -- but he also took plenty of contact in close quarters and averaged a career-low 7.2 yards per target and 9.8 yards per reception. Therefore, new offensive coordinator Dave Canales and new wide receivers coach Brad Idzik plan to incorporate some of the methods they utilized with DK Metcalf in Seattle and give Godwin's body more frequent breaks from the slot while also capitalizing on his still-viable downfield speed. "Chris still has that ability to win outside, so we don't need him banging every play," Idzik said. "And when we ask him to do it, he'll do it, willingly, and we love that about him. But we do want to preserve him, too."
May 10, 2023
To see more outside work
Godwin, who played 60 percent of his snaps in the slot in 2022, is expected to see more work on the perimeter during the upcoming season, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith adds that when factoring in formations in which Godwin lined up tight with the offensive line or in the backfield, the veteran wideout was on the outside for just 27 percent of his 834 snaps from scrimmage. Godwin's production certainly wasn't any worse for it -- he recorded a career-high 104 receptions and posted his third career 1,000-yard season in the process -- but he also took plenty of contact in close quarters and averaged a career-low 7.2 yards per target and 9.8 yards per reception. Jan 17, 2023
Ten catches in wild-card loss
Godwin secured 10 of 13 targets for 85 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-14 wild-card loss to the Cowboys on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin paced the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night, a fitting encore to a regular season when he racked up a career-high 104 catches, along with 1,023 yards and three touchdowns, over 15 games. Godwin did average a career-low 9.8 yards per grab as well, however, and he was once again consistently used in a short-area role Monday night. The veteran wideout figures to once again be a key component of Tampa Bay's air attack in 2023, but the big question will naturally be who he'll be catching passes from considering Tom Brady isn't likely to be back.
Jan 8, 2023
Paces pass catchers in loss
Godwin brought in six of seven targets for 55 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Godwin paced the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards while checking in second in targets on a day when the starters only played for a portion of the first half. That allotment of playing time was enough for Godwin to post another solid performance, with Mike Evans' early exit due to an illness also helping the cause for more targets. Godwin will head into next weekend's wild-card home playoff matchup having posted at least six grabs in all but two of 14 regular-season contests.
Jan 1, 2023
Nine catches in Week 17 win
Godwin secured all nine targets for 120 yards and recorded a two-point conversion catch in the Buccaneers' 30-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Were it not for the exploits of position mate Mike Evans, Godwin's performance would have been the talk of the afternoon for the Buccaneers. The trusted target checked in second across the stat sheet to Evans, and his two-point grab after Evans' third touchdown reception gave Tampa Bay a key three-point lead at the time. Godwin has at least eight catches in five of the last six games, while his yardage total was his highest of the season and leaves him just 32 yards short of the third 1,000-yard campaign of his career going into a Week 18 road matchup against the Falcons.
Dec 26, 2022
Racks up catches in OT win
Godwin secured eight of 10 targets for 63 yards in the Buccaneers' 19-16 overtime win over the Cardinals on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Buccaneers wideouts in receptions and checked in third overall in receiving yards while tying Leonard Fournette for the team lead in targets. The sixth-year wideout has now logged double-digit looks in the passing game in three of the past five contests and has at least eight receptions in four of those games, making him a highly valuable PPR asset going into a Week 17 divisional clash against the Panthers that could decide the NFC South crown.
Dec 18, 2022
Makes most of eight targets
Godwin corralled all eight of his targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was able to convert all of his targets into receptions for the third time this year, boosting his season catch rate to a solid 70 percent in the process. It was just the 26-year-old's third touchdown of 2022, as the Bucs have struggled as a unit in the red zone. Godwin will look to build off of this strong performance with a plus matchup looming against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Dec 11, 2022
Five catches against Niners
Godwin caught five of nine targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 35-7 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
On a rough day for the Tampa Bay offense, Godwin led the team in receiving yards, although most of it came on a 32-yard grab late in the second quarter. It's his fourth straight game with at least 50 yards, eighth straight with at least eight targets and 10th straight with at least five catches, giving him a reliable floor heading into a Week 15 clash with the Bengals.
Dec 5, 2022
Paces pass catchers in win
Godwin brought in eight of 13 targets for 63 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin paced the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night, serving as the workhorse of the pass-catching crew yet again. The veteran wideout recorded his final three catches of the night on Tampa Bay's last two drives, and he actually had a five-yard touchdown grab with 19 seconds remaining erased by a holding call on Donovan Smith. Godwin now has six double-digit targets tallies in the last seven games, and he should be in line for another very busy afternoon against a talented but beatable 49ers secondary in a Week 14 road matchup.
Nov 27, 2022
Monster volume day in loss
Godwin secured 12 of 13 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-17 overtime loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin comfortably paced the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also securing the only touchdown among the team's wideouts. Godwin's score came from 10 yards out in the first quarter, his second trip to the end zone in as many games after not recording any in the first seven contests of the campaign. Godwin has no fewer than six receptions in any game since Week 1, giving him a very safe fantasy floor ahead of a Week 13 Monday night divisional clash against the Saints.
Nov 13, 2022
First touchdown of season
Godwin recorded six receptions on eight targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-16 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Godwin managed at least six receptions for the seventh consecutive game, though he showcased some more big-play ability. He caught what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown from four yards away early in the fourth quarter -- also his first of the season. In addition to the score, Godwin accounted for three of the Buccaneers' 10 longest plays from scrimmage, highlighted by gains of 19, 18 and 13 yards. With the performance, he's also topped 70 receiving yards in three of his last five games.
Nov 6, 2022
Seven grabs in Sunday's win
Godwin caught seven of 10 targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The sixth-year wideout has seen double-digit targets in four straight games and five of the last six, but despite that volume he has yet to reach 100 receiving yards in a game or score a TD. Godwin could be due to break out in a Week 10 clash with the Seahawks in Germany.
Oct 27, 2022
Another busy game Thursday
Godwin secured six of 11 targets for 75 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-22 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin shared the lead in receptions and targets with Mike Evans, and he also had the second-longest catch of the night on a 44-yard grab that was just behind his teammate's 51-yard catch. The veteran has no fewer than six catches in five consecutive games, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Week 9 road matchup versus the Rams a week from Sunday.
Oct 23, 2022
Seven grabs in Week 7 loss
Godwin brought in seven of 13 targets for 43 yards and rushed once for two yards in the Buccaneers' 21-3 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was second on the afternoon in receptions and targets for the Buccaneers but mostly limited to a short-area role, leading to his second-lowest yardage tally of the season. The veteran has compiled at least six grabs in four straight games, but he'll head into a Week 8 home showdown against the Ravens on Thursday night still searching for his 100-yard game of the season.
Oct 16, 2022
Season-high yardage total in loss
Godwin secured six of 12 targets for 95 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-18 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. He also recovered a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Godwin co-led the Bucs in receptions while pacing the team in both receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, with the latter pair of tallies also qualifying as season highs. The veteran wideout has been very busy over the last three games after a quiet opener and a pair of absences in Weeks 2 and 3, posting a 19-215 line in that span. However, Godwin is still looking for both his first 100-yard game and touchdown, goals he'll look to accomplish in a Week 7 NFC South road battle against the Panthers.
Oct 14, 2022
Cleared for Sunday
Godwin (hip/knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Godwin progressed from non-participation Wednesday to limited Thursday to full participation Friday. It's worth noting that his playing time was scaled way back last week after the Bucs jumped out to a 21-0 lead, with Scotty Miller getting more playing time than Godwin after halftime. A full workload is possible now that Godwin is further removed from both last year's ACL tear and his more recent hamstring injury, but there's also some change he's scaled back again, especially if the Bucs jump out to a big lead. He, Mike Evans and Russell Gage will be the top three wide receivers this week, while Julio Jones (knee) is listed as doubtful after missing three straight practice.
Oct 13, 2022
Gets day off Thursday
Godwin (hip/knee) logged a veteran rest day Thursday.
ANALYSIS
On Wednesday, Godwin added a hip issue to his list of health concerns this season, practicing on a limited basis. After Thursday's day off, he'll aim to do enough at Friday's session to be cleared for game action. Even if he enters the weekend with a designation, though, there hasn't been any inkling that his status is in danger for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh. As for the rest of the receiving corps, Julio Jones (knee) also didn't practice, Russell Gage (ankle) was limited, and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) and Jaelon Darden (tooth) practiced in full Thursday, so the group as a whole seems to be a bit healthier than most weeks to date.
Oct 12, 2022
Now dealing with hip issue
Godwin (hip/knee) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Previously, Godwin tended to hamstring and knee injuries this season, so the addition of a hip issue is a new reality for the sixth-year pro. The Buccaneers' receiving corps remains banged-up, as Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (ankle) and Jaelon Darden (tooth) all didn't practice Wednesday. Godwin has gutted through his health concerns the last two games en route to 14 touches for 122 yards from scrimmage, and he'll look to do the same Sunday at Pittsburgh, assuming he gains clearance to play.
Oct 9, 2022
Seven total touches in win
Godwin secured all six targets for 61 yards and rushed once for two yards in the Buccaneers' 21-15 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin tied for second in receptions and checked in third in receiving yards on the afternoon, and just as important, made it through a second consecutive game with his health intact. Godwin has been busy, albeit in a shorter-area role, over the last two games, leading to a 13-120 line on 16 targets. Godwin draws a favorable matchup against a vulnerable and injury-hampered Steelers secondary on the road in Week 6.
Oct 7, 2022
Cleared to play
Godwin (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither does Russell Gage, who was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury for each of the team's first four games (playing in all four). Godwin, on the other hand, missed two games with a hamstring injury, returning Week 4 with a 7-59-0 receiving line on 10 targets and 83 percent of snaps in a 41-31 loss to the Chiefs. He could have a similar role this weekend against a Falcons defense that's cycled a few defensive backs through the slot this year while keeping starting CBs A.J. Terrell and Casey Heyward on the perimeter.
Oct 6, 2022
Still limited Thursday
Godwin (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers' receiving corps continues to boast a handful of banged-up players, with all of Godwin, Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) having a cap in their reps this week. With regard to Godwin, he's coming of a 7-59-0 performance on 10 targets in the team's Week 4 loss to the Chiefs, so he'd be in line for a large target share Sunday against the Falcons if he's available. Friday's injury report could clear up his status entering the weekend.
Oct 5, 2022
Tending to knee issue
Godwin (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin sat out Weeks 2 and 3 due to a strained hamstring, only to return this past Sunday against the Chiefs. After hauling in seven of 10 targets for 59 yards in the 41-31 loss, he now is tending to a knee issue, which may be the same body part that endured a torn ACL last December. In any case, Godwin was joined by Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) as limited participants Wednesday, so murkiness again surrounds the Bucs' receiving corps and who may be available on game day.
Oct 3, 2022
Gritty performance in SNF loss
Godwin (hamstring) had seven receptions (10 targets) for 59 yards in Sunday's 41-31 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Godwin came into the game on a hobbled leg and suffered another injury scare late in the third quarter, according to JC Allen of the Pewter Report. The talented wideout was able to return to the game after a brief absence, and it appeared that he was favoring his midsection as opposed to it being his ailing hamstring acting up. All things told, Godwin appeared to have escaped the game unscathed heading into a matchup against the Falcons next Sunday.
Oct 2, 2022
Returns to action Sunday
Godwin (hamstring) is listed as active Sunday versus the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Godwin sandwiched a rest day Thursday around a pair of limited sessions, officially entering the weekend as questionable to play for the first time since straining his hamstring Week 1. Now that he's back in the lineup, he'll join Mike Evans at the top of the depth chart, while Julio Jones (knee) and Russell Gage (hamstring) mix into the passing game and Breshad Perriman (knee) and Scotty Miller (coach's decision) sit out. Godwin may be on a snap count in his return, but his rapport with Tom Brady is notable, so he could make an impact, even with limited targets.
Oct 2, 2022
Optimism for Sunday
Godwin (hamstring) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Chiefs but remains a game-time decision, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin and Julio Jones (knee) are both listed as questionable but expected to suit up Sunday, as long as things go well in pregame warmups. However, the timing of Sunday's 8:20 p.m. E.T. kickoff still poses a challenge for fantasy managers making lineup decisions, especially as Godwin and Julio appear to be true game-time decisions. It's additionally possible that Godwin's reps could be limited as a precaution, even if he is cleared to take the field.
Sep 30, 2022
Listed as questionable
Godwin (hamstring), a likely game-time decision, is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with Kansas City, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a suboptimal situation for fantasy managers with three of Tampa's top four WRs listed as questionable for the Sunday night game, though Russell Gage (hamstring) at least seems highly likely to play through his injury for a fourth straight week. Godwin and Julio Jones (knee), on the other hand, will be treated as game-time decisions according to coach Todd Bowles. Godwin sandwiched two limited practices around a 'DNP' on Thursday this week, while Jones practiced the first two days before sitting out Friday. Barring further updates, both need to be viewed as truly questionable ahead of the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Sep 30, 2022
Headed for game-time decision
Coach Todd Bowles said Godwin (hamstring) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Chiefs, Jenna Laine of ESPN.comreports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles said the same is true for Julio Jones, who was a limited practice participant all week after missing the past two games with a hip injury. Breshad Perriman, meanwhile, will be listed as doubtful with a hamstring issue, though he might've been sliding back to a depth role this week even if he'd remained healthy. Godwin appears truly questionable entering the weekend and likely will be listed as such on the final injury report.
Sep 29, 2022
Rest day Thursday
Godwin (hamstring) received a veteran rest day Thursday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from logging a limited practice for the first time since injuring his hamstring in the season opener, Godwin got the day off Thursday. His activity level at Friday's session may provide insight into his potential to return Sunday against the Chiefs, but at this point he seems destined to enter the weekend with a 'questionable' designation.
Sep 28, 2022
Returns to limited practice
Godwin (hamstring) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This marks Godwin's first on-field work since hurting his hamstring back in Week 1. It's a sign that he's attempting to ramp for a return Sunday night against the Chiefs, but his ability to get through practice Thursday and Friday unscathed likely will go a long way in ending his DNP streak at two games. Meanwhile, Russell Gage (hamstring, limited), Julio Jones (knee, limited) and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring, DNP) also showed up on the first injury report of Week 4, indicating the Bucs could have most of its receiving corps available this weekend.
Sep 23, 2022
Out this week
Godwin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Green Bay, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin hasn't practiced since injuring his hamstring in the season opener. He's no lock to be back for Week 4 against Kansas City, though the Bucs haven't commented on his availability (or lack thereof) beyond Week 3. They'll be shorthanded this weekend, with Mike Evans suspended and each of Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) listed as questionable.
Sep 23, 2022
Unlikely to play
Godwin (hamstring) missed another practice Friday and appears unlikely to play Sunday against the Packers, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is on track for a second straight absence, while teammate Julio Jones is expected to be a game-time decision after missing last week. Russell Gage figures to continue playing through a hamstring injury and taking most of the slot snaps, with Scotty Miller and Breshad Perriman (knee) likely getting more work on the perimeter in the presumed absence of both Godwin and Mike Evans (suspension).
Sep 23, 2022
Missing another practice
Godwin (hamstring) is not participating in Friday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson appears to be trending toward a second straight absence, though Tampa Bay's final injury report of the week will be released later Friday and provide the wideout with an official game designation. With Mike Evans (one-game suspension) unavailable Sunday versus the Packers and Julio Jones (knee) working on the side Friday, Tampa Bay's receiving corps could be severely depleted Week 3. Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) were also limited Thursday.
Sep 22, 2022
Not practicing Thursday
Godwin (hamstring) remained sidelined during Thursday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow wide receiver Julio Jones (knee), which sets the stage for Friday's practice and subsequent injury report to add a degree of clarity with regard to Tampa Bay's available Week 3 WR options. It's already known that Mike Evans (one-game suspension) won't play Sunday against the Packers, while Russell Gage (hamstring), Breshad Perriman (knee) and Scotty Miller (calf) were limited at practice Wednesday.
Sep 21, 2022
DNP to begin Week 3 prep
Godwin (hamstring) was held out of practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has yet to practice since straining his hamstring in the season opener. Elsewhere in the Buccaneers' receiving corps, Mike Evans' one-game suspension was upheld Wednesday, while Julio Jones (knee) also didn't practice and Russell Gage (hamstring), Breshad Perriman (knee) and Scotty Miller (calf) were limited. As a result, the entire situation should be monitored as the week goes on to get a sense of who may be able to suit up for the team Sunday against the Packers.
Sep 16, 2022
Officially ruled out
Godwin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against New Orleans, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin missed practice all week after injuring his hamstring in his first game back from an ACL tear. Both teams have loaded injury reports for this NFC South clash, with Tampa's list of questionable players including fellow wide receivers Mike Evans (calf), Julio Jones (knee) and Russell Gage (hamstring), all three of whom managed limited practices Friday.
Sep 16, 2022
Not ruled out, but unlikely to play
Coach Todd Bowles doesn't expect Godwin (hamstring) to play in Sunday's game against the Saints but also hasn't ruled out the possibility, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin missed practice Wednesday and Thursday following his early exit from the season opener. Another absence Friday would all but cement his Week 2 fate, but the Bucs aren't ready to call it yet.
Sep 15, 2022
DNP on Thursday
Godwin (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin wasn't seen at the media-access portion of the Bucs' second practice of Week 2 prep along with Mike Evans (calf) and Julio Jones (knee), and all three went down as non-participants. Meanwhile, Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) were limited. Godwin himself may be in the most danger of missing time, as he made a quicker than expected recovery from last season's torn ACL to play Week 1, only to depart early with a strained hamstring. Friday's injury report could be telling with regard to which of the five wide receivers may be available Sunday in New Orleans.
Sep 15, 2022
Idle for another practice
Godwin (hamstring) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday and is expected to be listed as a non-participant on the Buccaneers' official report, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's absence from practice for the second day in a row comes as little surprise after he suffered a hamstring strain in Sunday's season-opening win over the Cowboys that is expected to cost him a few weeks, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Tampa Bay will likely wait until after Friday's practice before officially ruling Godwin out for its Week 2 game in New Orleans, but fantasy managers should already begin the process of finding a replacement for him in weekly lineups. Godwin is one of five Tampa Bay receivers on the Week 2 injury report, though his hamstring strain appears to be more significant than the injuries that Mike Evans (calf), Julio Jones (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) are contending with.
Sep 14, 2022
DNP on Wednesday
Godwin (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
According to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com, Godwin wasn't active during the media-access portion of the first session of Week 2 prep, and indeed he went down as a DNP. Both Julio Jones (knee) and Russell Gage (hamstring) joined Godwin on the sideline, while Mike Evans (calf) and Breshad Perriman (knee) were limited. Considering Godwin is slated to miss a few weeks due to his hamstring injury, the rest of the receiving corps stands to benefit on game days, assuming they're active.
Sep 12, 2022
May have avoided major injury
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Godwin's hamstring injury isn't as severe as they feared, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin secured all three of his targets for 35 yards before being ruled out at halftime of Sunday night's win. Initial reports suggested that Godwin would miss at least a few weeks, but Bowles remains optimistic that the star wideout could return sooner than later, saying Godwin's absence is just a matter of how he responds to treatment. Regardless, Godwin also just recently cleared his rehab from a torn ACL, so Tampa Bay is going to be extremely cautious moving forward. If Godwin is forced to time, Russell Gage and Julio Jones would be prime candidates for increased roles behind Mike Evans.
Sep 12, 2022
Expected to miss time
Godwin suffered a hamstring strain during Sunday's 19-3 win over the Cowboys and is expected to miss a few weeks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin secured all three of his targets for 35 yards before being ruled out at halftime of Sunday night's win. The Buccaneers haven't yet provided an official update on Godwin's health, but it appears that he's avoided a major injury and may only be sidelined a few weeks due to the strain. The standout receiver suffered the hamstring injury in his first game back from a torn ACL. While Godwin is unavailable, Russell Gage and Julio Jones will stand to handle increased roles behind top WR Mike Evans.
Sep 11, 2022
Ruled out with hamstring injury
Godwin (hamstring) will miss the remainder of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was evaluated at halftime and deemed out for the rest of the game. It's unclear whether this injury was related in any way to his recovery from a torn ACL, as Godwin came back from that injury earlier than expected. Godwin's absence should pave the way for Russell Gage and Julio Jones to see more playing time alongside Mike Evans. The next chance for Godwin to play will come in Week 2 against the NFC South rival Saints.
Sep 11, 2022
Clear for Week 1 action
Godwin (knee) is listed as active Sunday in Dallas, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Godwin was able to log two full practices (around one DNP) during Week 1 prep, coach Todd Bowles predictably treated the sixth-year pro as a game-time decision as he closed in on his return from the torn ACL and sprained MCL in his right knee that he suffered Week 15 of last season. In the end, both Godwin and the team's medical staff had to sign off on him suiting up, and he'll do just that to kick off the campaign. However, he may operate under a snap count of sorts, meaning he could have fewer opportunities than normal to produce.
Sep 11, 2022
Could see snap count Week 1
Godwin (knee) is slated to suit up for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Cowboys but could see a snap count, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was a full participant in Friday's practice, but the Buccaneers officially listed him as questionable due to a torn right ACL suffered last season. However, it looks like the team could continue to take a cautious approach to Godwin's recovery and ramp up his offensive snap share as the 2022 campaign continues. Tampa Bay also has Russell Gage (hamstring) listed as questionable versus Dallas, while Mike Evans and Julio Jones are good to go.
Sep 9, 2022
Listed as questionable
Godwin (knee) was a full practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Dallas, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Todd Bowles said he'd treat Godwin as a game-time decision, likely leaving fantasy managers to do the same. The full practice Friday would normally mean a green light, but that doesn't necessarily apply to a guy coming back from an ACL tear. Godwin also was a full participant Wednesday, before sitting out Thursday entirely. Bowles said both Godwin and the team's medical staff will need to sign off on him playing, with the final decision likely coming down to whether the wide receiver believes he's truly ready and strong enough to play. An 8:20 ET kickoff makes things tougher on fantasy managers, and there's also the matter of fellow Bucs wideout Russell Gage (hamstring) being listed as questionable. It's a favorable setup for Mike Evans, and perhaps for Julio Jones as well. Behind them, the Bucs have Scotty Miller, Jaelon Darden and Breshad Perriman, with Miller the favorite for the WR3 role if both Godwin and Gage end up inactive.
Sep 9, 2022
Treated as game-time decision
Coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Godwin (knee) could be a game-time decision, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was a full practice participant Wednesday and a non-participant Thursday, before finishing out the week in a non-contact jersey at Friday's session. It's unclear if this is gamesmanship or if he'll truly be treated as a game-time decision, but it does seem Godwin is unlikely to be ready for his accustomed every-down role even if he ends up playing Sunday night against the Cowboys. The late kickoff does fantasy managers no favors.
Sep 8, 2022
No practice Thursday
Godwin (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After being considered a full participant at Wednesday's session, Godwin seemed to be setting himself up to make a far quicker than expected return from the torn ACL and sprained MCL that he suffered in his right knee Week 15 of last season. Now, the wide receiver himself expects a decision on his availability for a Week 1 road matchup with the Cowboys to be a game-time decision. If the preceding comes to pass, Godwin's status may not be confirmed until 90 minutes before Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 7, 2022
Logs full practice Wednesday
Godwin (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has made a speedy recovery from the torn ACL and MCL sprain that he sustained in his right knee Week 15 of last season, handling team drills as soon as Aug. 22 before practicing without a brace this week. The sixth-year pro continues to don a non-contact jersey during drills, which could mean he heads into the weekend with a designation of some sort. In the end, though, Godwin appears as if he'll be available for Sunday's season opener at Dallas.
Sep 5, 2022
Practicing without knee brace
Godwin (knee) was spotted at Monday's practice without a brace on his right leg, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's health continues to progress in the right direction as Sunday's regular-season opener against the Cowboys grows nearer, and to see him practice without a brace on his surgically repaired right knee is certainly notable. It looks like a real possibility that Godwin could be available Week 1, though if he does suit up a reduced snap count could be on the table. The Buccaneers' first set of injury reports of the 2022 campaign will shed more light on Godwin's status.
Aug 27, 2022
Health continuing positive trend
Godwin will not play in Saturday's preseason contest, but the veteran receiver does appear to have growing confidence in his surgically repaired knee, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It would have been a major surprise to see Godwin actually play in Saturday's preseason contest, but all indications seem to be the star wide receiver could be available for Week 1. Expect more information regarding Godwin's availably to emerge during the team's first set of injury reports which will precede the Sept. 11 season opener.
Aug 22, 2022
Does full-team work sans contact
Godwin (knee) took a step forward Monday, participating in 11-on-11 drills with a non-contact jersey, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While he won't play in any preseason games, Godwin seemingly has a shot to be cleared for contact before Week 1. At that point, the Bucs would assess him in practice to determine if he's game-ready, with the team set to kick off its season Sept. 11 against Dallas. It's possible Godwin plays but on a reduced snap count, especially after the Bucs added Julio Jones to give them a fourth starting-caliber wide receiver (in addition to Godwin, Mike Evans and Russell Gage).
Aug 16, 2022
Ramping up workload
Godwin (knee) is handling 7-on-7 work in Tuesday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is participating in 7-on-7 work for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair his right ACL, a notable step forward from individual drills. The Buccaneers will doubtless continue to take a cautious approach to Godwin's recovery, but his continual progress is a notable piece of good news for the team, especially with Mike Evans (hamstring) and Russell Gage (leg) not practicing this week.
Aug 13, 2022
Likely out for Saturday
Godwin is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason tilt against the Dolphins, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has been running routes throughout training camp and participating in positional drills, but the star wideout has yet to play in meaningful game situations, something that's not expected to change Saturday. The Buccaneers are expected to rest the majority of their top pass catchers opening the door for Tyler Johnson, Cyril Grayson and Scotty Miller to get extended run.
Aug 7, 2022
Practices for second straight day
Godwin (knee) ran full-speed routes during individual and positional drills for the second consecutive day in Saturday's practice, Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The recovering receiver's rehab process is coming along as well as could be expected at this juncture, with head coach Todd Bowles taking note of how well Godwin is moving around just nine months removed from his ACL injury. The team will naturally continue to exercise considerable caution with Godwin, but the fact the Week 1 clash against the Cowboys is still over a month away seemingly gives him a fighting chance of playing at least a limited role in that contest.
Aug 5, 2022
Very limited in first practice
Godwin (knee) appeared limited to straight-line running and individual drills Friday in his return to practice, Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This is to be expected in his first practice tearing an ACL on Dec. 19. Godwin presumably has done cutting/agility work as part of his rehab process, but the Bucs don't want him pushing it in the more competitive atmosphere of a team practice. The plan, it would seem, is to ramp him up over the next five weeks, with eyes toward Week 1 against Dallas. The team can't be accused of lacking insurance, as offseason signings Russell Gage and Julio Jones can join forces with Mike Evans to give Tampa an impressive WR group even if Godwin misses games or starts off in a limited role.
Aug 5, 2022
Returns to practice
Godwin (knee) returned to practice Friday, sporting a knee brace in his first session since suffering an ACL tear last December, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a big step forward and all but confirms that the Bucs hope to have Godwin ready for Week 1. The timing of his injury toward the end of last season has made that a question mark, but all reports suggests his rehab has gone well, with avoidance of the PUP list at the beginning of training camp being an especially good sign. He's now practicing, though perhaps on a limited basis, with more than five weeks to go before Tampa's season opener against Dallas.
Jul 26, 2022
Dodges PUP list
Godwin (knee) will avoid the PUP list and has been cleared to begin training camp, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Stroud notes that the Bucs will be careful with Godwin, who had surgery Jan. 3 for a torn ACL. He didn't participate in spring practices and may be eased in this summer, but the decision to keep him off the PUP list suggests Godwin has a shot to be ready for Week 1.
Jul 4, 2022
Making progress, still no timeline
Reports on Godwin's rehab from an ACL tear have been encouraging, but the Bucs haven't commented on when they expect him back, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Godwin missed spring practices while rehabbing the major knee injury he suffered Dec. 19. Auman suggests the star wideout has a chance to open the regular season on the 53-man roster, though there's also some danger he'll land on the PUP list and miss the first six games. With Godwin uncertain for Week 1 and Rob Gronkowski retired, QB Tom Brady may have to lean on Mike Evans, Russell Gage, Cameron Brate and the Tampa running backs early in the season.
Mar 16, 2022
Reaches $60 million deal with Bucs
Godwin agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Buccaneers on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay applied the franchise tag on Godwin last week for the second consecutive year, and the two sides were quickly able to come to a new agreement. The 2017 third-round pick will receive $40 million guaranteed and is set to return to the open market in 2025 when still only 29 years old. Godwin is recovering from the torn ACL and sprained MCL he sustained during Week 15, so it remains to be seen if he'll be ready to catch passes from Tom Brady for the start of the 2022 campaign.
Mar 8, 2022
Second consecutive franchise tag
The Buccaneers placed the franchise tag on Godwin on Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For the second year in a row, Tampa Bay has done as much with Godwin, meaning he'll be due $19.2 million in 2022 if the two sides are unable to come to terms on a long-term deal. Currently, he's in recovery mode from the torn ACL and sprained MCL that he sustained in his right knee back in Week 15. Due to the timing of the injury, Godwin's availability for Week 1 of next season is in question, as is who will be under center for the Bucs once he gets healthy following the retirement of Tom Brady this offseason.
Mar 7, 2022
Franchise tag anticipated
The Buccaneers are expected to use their franchise tag on Godwin (knee) prior to Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline, Tyler Dragon of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin, who is recovering from ACL and MCL tears in his right knee, looks like he will stick with Tampa Bay for the 2022 campaign under the team's franchise tag. That would mark the second consecutive year that Godwin has received the franchise tag, so his salary would count $19.2 million against the cap. Through 14 appearances in the 2021 season, Godwin compiled career-high marks with 98 catches on 127 targets, which he translated into 1,103 yards and five touchdowns. While it's unclear whether Godwin will be at full strength to kick off the upcoming campaign, his ability to move the chains would doubtless prove a notable boon for whoever lines up under center Week 1, with Tom Brady having retired.
Jan 3, 2022
Has surgery Monday
Godwin underwent surgery Monday to repair the ACL and MCL in his right knee, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure, which didn't reveal any damage to Godwin's meniscus. While Godwin will be in recovery mode when free agency opens up in mid-March, he's expected to be among the top options available at the position if the Buccaneers don't use the franchise tag on him again or otherwise can't come to terms on a new contract. Prior to injuring his knee Week 15, he had set career highs with 98 catches and 127 targets en route to 1,103 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games.
Dec 21, 2021
Heads to IR
Tampa Bay placed Godwin (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's move to IR was merely procedural after head coach Bruce Arians confirmed Monday that the wideout suffered a torn ACL in addition to an MCL sprain of his right knee in the Buccaneers' Week 15 loss to the Saints. The transaction opens up a spot on the 53-man roster for fellow wideout Antonio Brown (ankle), who returns from a three-game suspension and could absorb a good portion of the 9.1 targets per contest Godwin had averaged through Tampa Bay's first 14 games.
Dec 20, 2021
Suffers torn ACL
Godwin has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was believed to have suffered an MCL sprain in Sunday's loss to the Saints, but he underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a torn ACL. The 25-year-old appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers in 2021 and secured 98 of 127 yards for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns while rushing four times for 21 yards and a touchdown. Mike Evans (hamstring) -- when available -- and Antonio Brown (suspension/ankle) figure to serve as the team's top receivers down the stretch, while Tyler Johnson, Breshad Perriman (undisclosed) and Scotty Miller should see an uptick in playing time. Godwin is slated to become a free agent during the offseason.
Dec 20, 2021
Could miss rest of regular season
Godwin (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the regular season due to an MCL sprain suffered during Sunday's shutout loss to the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is a likely candidate for IR according to Rapoport, though Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers haven't yet made any decisions about shutting him down for the final three games of the regular season. In any case, it appears that there's optimism about Godwin's chances of returning for the playoff stretch, and at the very least he seems likely to miss Week 16 at Carolina. With the nature of Godwin's injury now having been disclosed, the status of Mike Evans (hamstring), who was also forced off the field Sunday night, becomes increasingly key. Tampa Bay is expected to get Antonio Brown (ankle) back from his three-game suspension, but the status of his ankle sprain also remains a question mark. Behind that trio, the team has Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Breshad Perriman (COVID list) in the wideout room.
Dec 19, 2021
Won't return to SNF
Godwin (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Godwin tried to test out the injury he suffered in the second quarter, but he was subsequently ruled out at halftime along with Mike Evans (hamstring). With the top two wide receivers done for the night, the Buccaneers have just Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Jaelon Darden left at the position.
Dec 19, 2021
Hurts knee against Saints
Godwin (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was active before getting hurt in the second quarter, catching six of seven targets for 49 yards. He got hit in the knee while making the sixth catch. Godwin immediately made his way to the medical tent and was later spotted testing the knee out by running on the sideline. With fellow wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) doubtful to return, Tom Brady's working with a depleted group of pass-catchers.
Dec 12, 2021
Another double-digit catch total
Godwin brought in 10 of 15 targets for 105 yards in the Buccaneers' 33-27 overtime win over the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's reception, receiving yardage and target totals led the Buccaneers on the afternoon, and he now has consecutive double-digit reception tallies after not accomplishing the feat in the first 11 games of the campaign. The Penn State product has a whopping 32 targets in the last pair of contests, a level of volume that's seemingly unsustainable over the long term but that could persist in a Week 15 Sunday night matchup against a Saints team that funnels plenty of action toward the air due to its elite run defense.
Dec 5, 2021
Explodes for 15-catch tally
Godwin brought in 15 of 17 targets for 143 yards and rushed once for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 30-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has had some eye-popping lines before in his now nearly two seasons of working with Tom Brady, but Sunday's performance nevertheless jumped off the page. The fifth-year veteran easily led all pass catchers across the board during what was his fourth 100-yard effort of the campaign, with three of those instances coming in the last six games. Given how Tom Brady frequently distributes targets from week to week, Godwin's breakout performance could well be followed by a much more modest one, but he'll head into an interconference showdown against the Bills in Week 14 with a serious head of steam.
Nov 28, 2021
Modest showing in win
Godwin brought in four of five targets for 24 yards and lost a fumble in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin checked in second in receptions on the afternoon and led the wideouts in catches, but that wasn't saying much on an afternoon when only eight of Tom Brady's 25 completions went to receivers. Godwin's first opportunity to bounce back from what was a season-low yardage total comes in a Week 13 road matchup against the Falcons.
Nov 26, 2021
Still playing without Brown
Godwin will be joined in the lineup by Mike Evans (foot) on Sunday at Indianapolis, but Antonio Brown (ankle) will remain sidelined, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin bumped up from a limited listing on Wednesday to full standing on Tampa Bay injury reports both Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, Evans opened Week 12 prep with back-to-back absences due to a back issue before logging every practice rep Friday, while Brown is missing a fifth straight game due to a sprained ankle. With Brown on the pine, Godwin has accumulated a 29-373-3 line on 37 targets. Godwin will stay heavily involved in the Bucs' passing game against a Colts defense that has allowed 170.2 total yards per contest and an NFL-high 18 TDs to wide receivers in 11 games this season.
Nov 25, 2021
Practices fully Thursday
Godwin (foot) practiced in full Thursday, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Mike Evans (back) and Antonio Brown (ankle) remained sidelined, Godwin upgraded from his limited listing on Wednesday's injury report. It's unclear where Evans and Brown stand in their respective recoveries, but Godwin clearly is the healthiest of the Buccaneers' top trio of wide receivers at the moment.
Nov 24, 2021
Dealing with foot injury
Godwin was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is dealing with a foot injury for a third consecutive week, but it hasn't stopped him from producing to the tune of 13 catches (on 14 targets) for 122 yards and one TD along with a seven-yard carry during that stretch. While Godwin was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough session, fellow wide receivers Mike Evans (back) and Antonio Brown (ankle) didn't practice at all. Brown hasn't suited up since Week 6, resulting in four consecutive absences, and Evans is working through back tightness. The trio will have two more chances to prove their health before the end of the week, but Godwin seems to be the healthiest of the group at the moment.
Nov 22, 2021
Scores in Monday's win
Godwin caught all six of his targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 30-10 win over the Giants. He also rushed once for seven yards.
ANALYSIS
Godwin started the scoring by taking a screen pass 13 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. That play gave him three scores in his last four outings, all of which have seen teammate Antonio Brown (ankle) sidelined. Godwin also nearly found the end zone a second time Monday after an impressive run-after-catch sequence to close the first half, only to be negated by a holding call. Regardless, it was another strong showing from Godwin, who was reliable on underneath and crossing routes all night. Whether or not Brown returns in Week 12, Godwin will strive to keep his momentum going in an interesting matchup versus the Colts.
Nov 20, 2021
Cleared for Monday
Godwin (foot) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's contest against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers ruled out Antonio Brown (ankle) for his fourth consecutive game, but Godwin appears to have no issues entering Monday's matchup. The star wide receiver had seven receptions for 57 yards in last week's loss against Washington despite a similar practice cadence so it's fair to suggest Godwin will be able to produce at his usual level come Monday.
Nov 18, 2021
Limited by foot issue
Godwin (foot) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The foot injury initially put Godwin's status in doubt for Week 10 after he missed practices Wednesday and Thursday, but he returned to the field Friday and ultimately gained clearance to play in Sunday's loss to Washington. He played 96 percent of the Bucs' offensive snaps in that game and recorded seven catches for 57 yards on eight targets. The team provided no indication that Godwin is dealing with any sort of setback coming out of that contest, so his limitations during the Bucs' first Week 11 practice were likely maintenance-related. The expectation is that he'll be good to go for a matchup with the Giants on Monday night.
Nov 14, 2021
Seven grabs in upset loss
Godwin (foot) brought in seven of eight targets for 57 yards in the Buccaneers' 29-19 loss to Washington on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
While some of his other offensive teammates looked like they still had a bit of bye-week hangover, Godwin, playing through a foot issue, checked in second in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon. The fifth-year wideout has been consistently busy of late, as he now has at least seven receptions and eight targets in four of the last five games. Godwin should be a bit healthier by the time a Week 11 home Monday night matchup against the Giants kicks off.
Nov 14, 2021
Suiting up Sunday
Godwin (foot) is listed as active Sunday at Washington, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off the Buccaneers' bye week, Godwin kicked off Week 10 prep with back-to-back absences due to a foot injury. He ended up capping it with a limited session Friday and receiving a questionable designation, but Greg Auman of The Athletic reported Saturday the team expected Godwin to suit up Sunday. Indeed, Godwin is available to a skill-position group that will be without Antonio Brown (ankle) and Rob Gronkowski (back). In two games prior to the midseason respite, Godwin was operating on all cylinders, combining for 16 catches (on 23 targets) for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
Nov 13, 2021
Trending in positive direction
Godwin (foot) is expected to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers will still want to check in on Godwin's status ahead of the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but this is certainly good news considering some speculated the elevation of Breshad Perriman from the practice squad indicated the fleet-footed slot receiver would be unable to play Sunday. The Buccaneers are already without Antonio Brown (foot) and Rob Gronkowski (back) and didn't choose to remove Scotty Miller (toe) from injured reserve so expect a heavy dose of Mike Evans, Tyler Johnson and Godwin in the event the latter is officially active against Washington.
Nov 12, 2021
Returns to practice
Godwin (foot) returned to practice Friday, but the Bucs want to see how he feels Saturday before clearing him for Sunday's game in Washington, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Reading between the lines on coach Bruce Arians' comments Friday morning and afternoon, it sounds like Godwin is on track to play but will still need to be listed as 'questionable' on the final injury report. Prior to a Week 9 bye, Godwin had back-to-back games with eight catches for 100-plus yards and a touchdown.
Nov 12, 2021
May practice Friday
Coach Bruce Arians said he believes Godwin will practice Friday and that the wideout may be a game-time decision Sunday at Washington, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has yet to practice this week coming out of Tampa Bay's Week 9 bye, but there's hope he's able to take the field in some capacity Friday. The 25-year-old appears headed for a questionable tag at best, while fellow pass catchers Antonio Brown (ankle) and Rob Gronkowski (back) also haven't practiced this week,
Nov 11, 2021
Still not practicing
Godwin (foot) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Following the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye, Godwin has yet to step on the practice field due to a foot injury. He'll have one more session this week in which to prove his health, but he seems on pace to enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game at Washington. Elsewhere in the receiving corps, Antonio Brown (ankle) and Rob Gronkowski (back) also didn't practice.
Nov 11, 2021
Not practicing Thursday
Godwin (foot) isn't in attendance for Thursday's practice and is expected to be listed as a non-participant on the team's official report, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
With Godwin having now missed two practices in a row following the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye, his status for Sunday's game in Washington looks to be up in the air. Before giving him an official designation heading into the weekend, the Buccaneers will see what, if anything, Godwin can do during the team's final practice of the week Friday. Tampa Bay could have a depleted pass-catching group Week 10, as all of Godwin, Antonio Brown (ankle) and Rob Gronkowski (back) look at risk of missing the contest.
Nov 10, 2021
Dealing with foot injury
Godwin was held out of Wednesday's practice with a foot injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin dealt with minor knee and ankle injuries earlier this season but still managed to play in each of Tampa's eight games before a Week 9 bye, catching 50 passes for 660 yards and four touchdowns. While the missed practice after a bye comes as somewhat of a surprise, there hasn't been any indication Godwin's foot injury is serious. Meanwhile, fellow wideout Antonio Brown (ankle) appears likely to miss a third straight game when the Bucs take on Washington on Sunday.
Oct 31, 2021
Big receiving day in loss
Godwin brought in eight of 12 targets for 140 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 36-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Mike Evans having a troubled history against Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore, Brady leaned heavier on Godwin than any other pass catcher, leading to a momentous day for the fifth-year wideout. Godwin's receiving yardage total was a season high, while his targets fell just short of equaling the 13 he logged in the opener versus Dallas. While the wealth of talent on Tampa Bay's pass-catching corps will continue to lead to some quiet weeks for Godwin, he encouragingly heads into the Week 9 bye with back-to-back eight-catch, 100-yard efforts.
Oct 24, 2021
Eclipses century mark in victory
Godwin brought in eight of 11 targets for 111 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 38-3 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Although Mike Evans stole the headlines with three touchdown grabs, Godwin was actually the player to pace the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon. The fifth-year wideout was also on the receiving end of the first of Tom Brady's four scoring tosses, recording a four-yard touchdown grab late in the first quarter. Godwin now has at least five receptions in three straight contests, and his yardage tally Sunday was a season high. He'll look to build on the dominating effort against the Saints in a Week 8 road clash.
Oct 15, 2021
Five catches in Week 6 win
Godwin brought in all five targets for 43 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-22 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Godwin checked in third on the team in receptions but had a relatively quiet night, falling under the 50-yard mark for the first time this season. The fifth-year wideout opened the season with a nine-catch, 105-yard, one-touchdown tally against the Cowboys, but the reception and yardage totals from that game remain his high-water marks, and he hasn't scored in four consecutive contests. Godwin will look to rectify all those matters at the expense of the visiting Bears in a Week 7 matchup a week from Sunday.
Oct 13, 2021
Ready for Thursday
Godwin (knee/ankle) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game in Philadelphia, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as a limited participant on practice estimates from Monday and Tuesday, Godwin managed to take part in every drill Wednesday, paving the way for the wide receiver to suit up Week 6. With Tom Brady (thumb) also cleared to play, Godwin will be one of the Buccaneers' top targets next to Mike Evans and Antonio Brown in an offense that will be without Rob Gronkowski (ribs) for a third straight game.
Oct 12, 2021
Limited in Tuesday's session
Godwin (knee/ankle) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight day, the Buccaneers submitted an estimated report for their walkthrough session, with Godwin maintaining limited activity. The fact that he is nursing a pair of injuries is less than ideal with the Buccaneers facing a quick turnaround for Thursday's game in Philadelphia, but head coach Bruce Arians hasn't yet suggested that the receiver is any danger of missing the contest. If Godwin is listed as a full participant on Wednesday's report, he'll stand a good chance of entering the Week 6 contest without an injury designation.
Oct 10, 2021
Seven catches in Week 5
Godwin caught seven of 11 targets for 70 yards in Sunday's 45-17 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Godwin paced the Buccaneers in targets, but Mike Evans and Antonio Brown each needed just eight targets to score two touchdowns apiece, while Godwin remains stuck on two touchdowns this season. With at least 55 receiving yards in every game, Godwin has a tremendous floor while working as a key cog in the high-powered Buccaneers passing attack. He'll look to end his three-game touchdown drought Thursday in Philadelphia.
Oct 4, 2021
Five targets in SNF win
Godwin had three receptions (five targets) for 55 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Godwin surprisingly finished tied for fourth in targets amongst all Tampa Bay receiving options, resulting in the lowest yardage output through four weeks this season. Tom Brady had his worst passing performance of the year against his old club, so the receiving numbers were down across the board. The 25-year-old has been a consistent fantasy producer while co-starting with Mike Evans, so there is little to worry about regarding a rare dud from the Buccaneers' air attack. Godwin gets a favorable matchup against the Dolphins in Week 5.
Sep 26, 2021
Posts 74 yards
Godwin recorded six receptions on seven targets for 74 yards in Sunday's Week 3 loss to the Rams. He also added one rush for two yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
With Antonio Brown (COVID-19) sidelined and Tom Brady taking to the air 55 times, Godwin's relative lack of volume is a bit disappointing. However, he still made the most of his opportunity, posting 10.6 yards per target and recording big gains on catches of 21 and 17 yards. With his rushing score, Godwin has now found the end zone in each game this season. He's also displayed a strong floor as a receiver, posting no fewer than 62 yards through three games. In Week 4, Godwin and the Buccaneers will travel to New England to take on the Patriots.
Sep 19, 2021
Another TD in Week 2 win
Godwin brought in four of five targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 48-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin checked in second only to Mike Evans in receiving yardage while sharing runner-up status in receptions with Rob Gronkowski and Leonard Fournette. The fifth-year wideout also found the end zone for the second time this season early in the fourth quarter, notching a key 12-yard scoring grab after the Falcons had closed the Buccaneers' lead to three points. Godwin will aim to continue to the strong start to his season in a tough Week 3 road matchup against the Rams.
Sep 10, 2021
Overcomes key turnover
Godwin brought in nine of 14 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-29 win over the Cowboys on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The talented fifth-year pro's fumble at the goal line line with 5:04 remaining not only cost Godwin and the Buccaneers a touchdown, but for a moment, it also appeared capable of leading to what would have been a relatively shocking season-opening home loss. The Cowboys took the ball and marched 60 yards in 11 plays following Godwin's miscue to kick a go-ahead field goal before Tampa Bay's own 11-play drive, which featured a key 24-yard reception by the wideout, positioned the Bucs for a successful game-winning field-goal try of their own. Godwin also scored the first points of the NFL season when he recorded a five-yard scoring grab in the first quarter, and he appears to already be in midseason form save for his one error. The Penn State product will look to build on Thursday's numbers in a Week 2 home matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 19.
Sep 8, 2021
Cleared for Thursday
Godwin (quad) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was a mid-week addition to the injury report, listed Tuesday as a limited participant. The Bucs upgraded him to full on Wednesday, and he should be fine for his usual target load Thursday night against the Cowboys.
Sep 7, 2021
Limited by quad issue Tuesday
The Buccaneers added Godwin to their injury report after a quadriceps issue limited his activity in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Godwin didn't appear on the Bucs' initial Week 1 injury report released Monday, so his limited showing a day later could be indicative of an in-practice setback. The Buccaneers will see what Godwin is able to do in the team's final practice of the week Wednesday before a determination is made whether he'll carry a designation into Thursday's Week 1 matchup with the Cowboys.
Aug 29, 2021
Provides several splash plays
Godwin recorded three receptions on three targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason contest against Houston.
ANALYSIS
Godwin joined the team's first-string offense for three drives and delivered an impressive performance in the preseason finale. He recorded receptions of 32, 28 and 24 yards, the last of which went for a trip to the end zone. Godwin will now turn his entire focus to a Week 1 matchup against Dallas, and he should be in line for plenty of targets while playing alongside Mike Evans and Antonio Brown.
Aug 16, 2021
Poised to sit out Saturday
Godwin isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin suited up for the Bucs' exhibition opener this past Saturday, playing only the six offensive snaps of the first possession of the game. The same can be said for Tom Brady, Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski. Bruce Arians mentioned Monday that the starters won't play this weekend, but Brady was the sole name uttered by the coach. As a result, it's safe to say Godwin will join Brady on the sideline Saturday.
Jul 30, 2021
Back at practice Friday
Godwin (undisclosed) is present and participating at Friday's practice, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was sitting out practice earlier this week for undisclosed reasons, but he's back on the field for Friday's session, though his participation level remains unclear. There's no real injury concerns for the 25-year-old at this point as the Buccaneers prepare for the preseason opener Aug. 14 versus the Bengals.
Jul 28, 2021
No practice Tuesday
Godwin (undisclosed) did not participate in Tuesday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Laine adds that Godwin looked very good over the first two days of camp, so injury doesn't appear to be a factor in Tuesday's absence. However, the fifth-year wideout also isn't dealing with any COVID-related issues, as Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times relayed that Godwin was present as an observer but without a helmet.
Jul 15, 2021
No deal before deadline
Godwin and the Buccaneers were unable to reach agreement on a long-term contract before Thursday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Panthers OT Taylor Moton was the only franchise-tagged player to sign a long-term contract in the days/hours leading up to the deadline. The Bucs reportedly intend to continue negotiations with Godwin next offseason, but he'll first play out 2021 under a franchise tender for $15.98 million. While the Bucs have a deep group of pass catchers, Godwin and Mike Evans both figure to see at least seven or eight targets per game from QB Tom Brady.
Jul 14, 2021
Working toward long-term deal
Godwin and the Buccaneers will continue discussions Wednesday, hoping to reach agreement on a long-term contract before Thursday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for franchise-tagged players, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
If no deal gets done, Godwin will be locked in for a $15.98 million franchise tender. The Bucs already have a host of veteran players on expensive contracts, but given that most of those expire after 2021 or 2022, it's easy enough to make room for Godwin if they back-load cap hits on his long-term deal. The 25-year-old wide receiver played 12 games in the regular season and four more in the playoffs last year, catching 81 of 116 targets for 1,072 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 appearances overall. The Bucs have a similarly impressive roster this year -- including excellent depth at wide receiver -- so while Godwin should remain efficient, his volume may not return to the 2019 level (121 targets in 14 games, 8.6 average).
Mar 18, 2021
Signs franchise tender
Godwin signed his franchise tender Wednesday morning, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This means Godwin is officially under contract and can be fined if he holds out from training camp or games. In other words, the wideout knows it won't come down to that, figuring he'll sign a long-term contract or else play out 2021 under a franchise tag for $15.9 million. The second option typically would be undesirable for a player of Godwin's caliber, but it makes more some sense this offseason, with the wideout coming off an injury-marred campaign and the market for free agents impacted by the salary cap dip.
Mar 9, 2021
Receives franchise tag
Godwin is getting a franchise tag, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin has already acknowledged this possibility and stated that he'll play out 2021 under the franchise tag if he doesn't get a new contract. Both parties likely prefer a long-term agreement, but that it doesn't necessarily mean it will be easy to agree on specifics before the negotiation deadline, which usually is set at July 15. Either way, Godwin won't be a free agent this offseason.
Mar 3, 2021
Would play on franchise tag
Godwin recently indicated he'd be willing to play the 2021 season under the franchise tag if necessary, which seems to be "where things are headed" between him and the Buccaneers, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year veteran would earn a salary in the neighborhood of $16.5 million for 2021 if he ultimately played under the tag, a figure that undoubtedly helps make the situation palatable as a trade-off for the longer-term security of a multi-year deal. In Godwin's case, Laine notes the plan is to keep the Penn State product on the roster for many seasons into the future anyhow, so the 25-year-old seems to have little exposure if he does operate under a one-year deal this coming season. Further clarity on Godwin's 2021 contract situation will be gleaned in coming days, as the deadline for teams to apply the franchise tag for next season is Tuesday.
Feb 7, 2021
Pair of grabs in Super Bowl LV win
Godwin secured two of four targets for nine yards during the Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin had a disappointing conclusion to his 2020 season and postseason from an individual perspective, but the fourth-year wideout undeniably played a pivotal role in the team's championship run. Godwin secured 65 of 84 targets for 840 yards and seven touchdowns over 12 games, quickly developing rapport with Tom Brady and also generating a 5-110 line during the NFC Championship Game win over the Packers. However, the Penn State product is a pending unrestricted free agent, and his 2021 status will undoubtedly be the subject of heavy scrutiny in coming weeks ahead of the start of the new league year in March.
Jan 24, 2021
Paces receivers in championship win
Godwin secured five of nine targets for 110 yards and rushed once for six yards in the Buccaneers' 31-26 win over the Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's receptions, receiving yards and targets paced the Buccaneers on the afternoon, and his one carry, which came on third down with 48 seconds remaining, ensured Tampa Bay would become the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl in its home stadium. The fourth-year wideout also had a team-high 52-yard grab early in the second quarter a play prior Leonard Fournette's 20-yard touchdown rush that opened the scoring for Tampa Bay, and he made a clutch 11-yard grab on a key fourth-quarter drive that culminated in a Ryan Succop field goal which extended the lead back to eight points. Godwin certainly did his part to step up in the absence of Antonio Brown (knee), and he'll look to once again play a prominent role irrespective of his teammate's availability in Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Feb. 7.
Jan 22, 2021
Good to go
Godwin (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin, Mike Evans and Antonio Brown (knee) were all listed on the injury report this week, but only Brown (ruled out) has a designation for the NFC Championship Game. The Bucs have Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson on hand for WR depth behind the formidable duo of Godwin and Evans.
Jan 21, 2021
Gets in limited work
Godwin (quadriceps) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Like Mike Evans (knee), Godwin's practice reps are being managed this week with an eye toward being cleared for Sunday's NFC Championship Game in Green Bay. The Buccaneers may make such a decision evident upon the release of Friday's injury report.
Jan 20, 2021
Logs limited practice listing
Godwin (hip/quad) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
As was fellow wide receiver Mike Evans (knee), but it's quite plausible that the duo's listed limitations are simply indicative of rep management. Both players were listed as limited last Wednesday as well before finishing up the practice week in advance of the team's divisional-round win over the Saints minus injury designations.
Jan 17, 2021
Four grabs in divisional-round win
Godwin brought in four of seven targets for 34 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-20 divisional-round win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It was a relatively quiet day for the Buccaneers' air attack, which had been hitting on all cylinders in the latter stages of the regular season and in last week's wild-card win over Washington. Therefore, Godwin's catch total actually tied for second highest on the evening for Tampa Bay, but his yardage tally served as his lowest since Week 14 and his second lowest of the regular season and postseason overall. Godwin will hope to bounce back in nex Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Packers in Lambeau Field, although weather conditions could certainly make it an uphill battle for the passing game.
Jan 15, 2021
Ready to take on Saints
Godwin (hip/quadriceps) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's NFC divisional-round matchup against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Godwin had his practice reps managed due to a pair of injuries this week, beginning with two limited sessions and then sitting out entirely Friday, but there's no reason to believe he'll deal with any significant limitations Sunday. With Mike Evans (knee) also having been cleared to suit up in New Orleans, the Buccaneers' receiving corps will be at full strength.
Jan 14, 2021
Limited in practice Thursday
Godwin (hip/quadriceps) was a limited practice participant Thursday, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With no indication either of his injuries is serious, Godwin should be ready for Sunday's game in New Orleans. The Saints limited him to nine catches for 120 yards on 13 targets in two regular-season matchups, but Godwin enters Sunday with a four-game TD streak.
Jan 13, 2021
Logs limited showing Wednesday
Godwin (hip/quad) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bogged down by injuries during the first half of the season, Godwin has been in a groove of late, scoring TDs in four consecutive contests. During that stretch, he's compiled a 19-332-5 line on 33 targets. Godwin is tending to a pair of issues this week, but the fact he got in some reps Wednesday likely indicates he's trending in the right direction. Ultimately, Friday's practice report may clear up his status entirely for Sunday's divisional-round game at New Orleans.
Jan 10, 2021
Finds end zone in win
Godwin brought in five of 12 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-23 wild-card win over Washington on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
As the pedestrian catch rate implies, Godwin had some uncharacteristic struggles with drops Saturday, but he worked around them enough to still turn in a solid line fantasy-wise. His longest catch of the night resulted in a touchdown, with Godwin recording a 27-yard scoring grab early in the second quarter to extend Tampa Bay's lead to 15-7 at the time. Godwin will look to continue to clean up the shaky hands and up his efficiency in a divisional-round matchup next weekend.
Jan 3, 2021
Makes most of five catches
Godwin brought in five of seven targets for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 44-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With fellow wideout Mike Evans going down for good in the first quarter with a knee injury, Godwin and Antonio Brown (14 targets) were the beneficiaries of some extra attention from Tom Brady. Godwin ultimately recorded six fewer catches than his speedy teammate, but he compiled just five fewer yards thanks in large part to a game-high 47-yard reception. The 26.6 yards per grab Godwin put up was easily a season high, and he's now tallied four touchdowns in the last three games. Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports Evans will soon undergo an MRI, so whether Godwin may have to operate as the de facto No. 1 receiver in a first-round playoff game against either the Giants or Washington next weekend.
Dec 26, 2020
Another touchdown grab in win
Godwin secured five of nine targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 47-7 win over the Lions on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin got in on the fun during the Tom Brady's and the Buccaneers record-setting first half, recording a seven-yard touchdown grab in the latter portion of the second quarter. The fourth-year wideout was second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Mike Evans, and the 24-year-old has now scored in three of his last five contests. Godwin will look to put together a strong finish to his regular season and tune up for a postseason where he'll undoubtedly be expected to play a major role in a Week 17 divisional battle versus the Falcons.
Dec 20, 2020
Finds end zone in win
Godwin secured four of five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 31-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He also committed a fumble but it was recovered by the Bucs.
ANALYSIS
Godwin took a back seat to fellow wideouts Mike Evans and Antonio Brown in the passing game hierarchy, with the duo seeing a combined 14 targets and parlaying them into an 11-203-1 line. Godwin's production was meager by comparison, but his four-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter boosted his day from a fantasy perspective. The fourth-year pro has just 61 total yards over his last two games, so he'll look to up his numbers at the expense of the vulnerable Lions secondary in a Week 16 Saturday afternoon matchup.
Dec 13, 2020
Quiet day in win
Godwin secured two of three targets for 25 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-14 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was able to suit up for his first game since having the pins in his surgically repaired index finger, but he played a very minor role on a day when Tom Brady put the ball up a season-low 23 times. The Penn State product's catch and yardage tallies were season-low figures, but he'll look to revert to his usual numbers in a favorable Week 15 road divisional matchup against the Falcons.
Dec 10, 2020
Puts in full practice
Godwin (finger) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing at all Wednesday, Godwin handled every rep one day later. Meanwhile, Mike Evans (hamstring) downgraded from limited to no activity during that span. Evans gutted through injuries early on this season before putting together a lengthy spell without any health concerns, so his status could impact the rest of the Buccaneers' receiving corps. Friday's injury report may clear up whether Godwin is poised for more targets than usual.
Dec 9, 2020
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Godwin (finger) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin wasn't seen at the portion of the session open to the media, and he indeed didn't get in any reps before its conclusion. Both Godwin and Mike Evans (hamstring, limited) are tending to injuries following the Buccaneers' Week 13 bye, so their statuses should be watched closely as the week approaches to get a sense of their availability for Sunday's game versus the Vikings.
Dec 9, 2020
Not practicing Wednesday
Godwin (finger) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The wideout's absence Wednesday isn't really a surprise after he underwent a minor follow-up procedure Tuesday to remove pins from his fractured left index finger. Godwin still has a couple more chances to rejoin his teammates at practice in advance of Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Dec 8, 2020
Misses practice
Godwin (finger) didn't take part in practice Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin underwent a minor follow-up procedure earlier Tuesday to remove pins from his fractured left index finger, so his absence from the Bucs' practice session doesn't come as a major surprise. The Buccaneers are set to release their first Week 14 injury report later Wednesday, which will reveal whether Godwin was able to get back on the practice field in some capacity a day after the follow-up procedure. The Buccaneers haven't yet indicated that Godwin is in danger of sitting out Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Dec 8, 2020
Gets minor follow-up procedure
Godwin underwent a minor procedure Tuesday to have pins removed from his broken finger, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin previously missed the Buccaneers' Week 8 win over the Giants after undergoing surgery on his fractured left index finger, but the report doesn't specify whether the follow-up procedure will cost him any time. The wideout's activity in practice this week will thus need to be monitored leading up to Sunday's game versus the Vikings. Since returning from his one-game absence, Godwin has totaled 24 receptions for 283 yards and a touchdown on 31 targets.
Nov 29, 2020
Stays busy in close loss
Godwin secured eight of nine targets for 97 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-24 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin finished with a team high in receptions while checking in second in receiving yardage to Rob Gronkowski. The fourth-year wideout also tied Mike Evans for the team lead in targets and will head into the Buccaneers' Week 13 bye with a combined 21-242-1 line over his last three games. Godwin also has no fewer than six targets and as many as 10 in each of his eight contests thus far, giving him a coveted fantasy floor ahead of a Week 14 battle versus the Vikings following the upcoming week off.
Nov 23, 2020
Scores late touchdown
Godwin caught seven of 10 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 27-24 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Godwin trailed only Antonio Brown for Tampa Bay's lead in receptions, targets and yards through the air. However, unlike Brown, Godwin was able to find the end zone, triumphantly leaping from a few yards to complete a 13-yard score in the fourth quarter. That play marked Godwin's third touchdown in seven appearances this season, and Monday also brought about a new high in targets from quarterback Tom Brady, which bodes well for Godwin in advance of Week 12's matchup against the Chiefs.
Nov 15, 2020
Team-high yardage tally in win
Godwin brought in all six targets for 92 yards in the Buccaneers' 46-23 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wideout paced the team in receiving yardage while tying his second-highest catch total of the season. Godwin encouragingly has logged 12 targets over the two games he's played thus far alongside Antonio Brown, a trend that fantasy managers will naturally hope persists even as the latter gets further acclimated to the offense. Godwin is still in the hunt for his first 100-yard game of the season, a benchmark he'll look to achieve in a Week 11 Monday night showdown against the tough Rams secondary.
Nov 13, 2020
Ready for Sunday
Godwin (finger) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Carolina, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin returned from a one-game absence last week, catching three of six targets for 41 yards while playing 94 percent of the offensive snaps in a 38-3 loss to New Orleans. He was a full practice participant Friday and shouldn't have any limitations come Sunday, but he does have significant competition for Tom Brady's attention in an offense that also features Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski.
Nov 12, 2020
Another limited practice
Godwin (finger) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Following a one-game absence due to surgery to repair a fractured left index finger, Godwin handled 94 percent of the offensive snaps this past Sunday against the Saints en route to three catches (on six targets) for 41 yards. As he gets healthier, he'll seek his first 100-yard outing of the season, which could come as soon as Sunday versus the Panthers' 20th-ranked pass defense (246.8 yards per game). That's assuming Godwin is active.
Nov 11, 2020
Officially limited Wednesday
Godwin (finger) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin managed to suit up for Sunday night's loss to the Saints, and there have been no indications about a setback in his recovery from finger surgery, so he should be set to once again handle a full workload Week 10. He'll line up in a pass catching corps also headlined by Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski, as the entire Buccaneers team looks to get back on track in Carolina.
Nov 11, 2020
Says hand is doing well
Godwin still has pins in his finger but expects to have them removed soon, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin missed one game after having finger surgery, but he made it back for Sunday's 38-3 loss to New Orleans and caught three of six targets for 41 yards while playing 94 percent of snaps on offense. Godwin should be set for another full workload Week 10 at Carolina, competing for targets in an offense that also has Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski.
Nov 9, 2020
41 yards in return
Godwin (finger) had three catches (six targets) for 41 yards in Sunday's 38-3 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
It was a dreadful performance all around from the Buccaneers in a primetime matchup where the team was trying to dethrone the old guard of the NFC South. Despite throwing for nearly the entire game (38 pass attempts to four carries), Tom Brady was unable to establish any rhythm with his top wideouts. The good news here is that Godwin escaped the contest without re-aggravating the finger that forced him to miss last week's contest. Look for the entire unit to bounce back against the Panthers on Sunday.
Nov 8, 2020
Suiting up Week 9
Godwin (finger) is active for Sunday's game versus the Saints.
ANALYSIS
After putting in a full practice Friday, Godwin will miss just one contest following Oct. 27 surgery to repair a fractured left index finger. He could get back in the box score in a big way against a New Orleans defense that has given up 10.1 yards per target (second worst in the NFL) and 12 touchdowns (fourth most) to wideouts in seven outings this season.
Nov 6, 2020
Questionable, should play Week 9
Godwin (finger) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, but head coach Bruce Arians said earlier Friday that he expects the receiver to return from a one-game absence, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin backed up Arians' optimism about his status by practicing fully Friday after the Buccaneers listed him as a limited participant earlier this week in his first two practices since undergoing surgery Oct. 27 to repair a fractured left index finger. Notably, Godwin caught the ball Friday for the first time since his procedure, so assuming that wasn't too much of an issue, he should be ready to start and handle a normal snap load come Sunday. The Buccaneers are slated to unveil a star-studded pass-catching corps Week 9, as Antonio Brown is set to make his much-anticipated team debut alongside Godwin, Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski.
Nov 6, 2020
Expected to play
Coach Bruce Arians expects Godwin (finger) to play in Sunday's game against the Saints, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Arians said it's now a matter of pain tolerance, with Godwin less than two weeks removed from surgery to address a fractured index finger. It sounds like the wideout will return to the lineup after missing Week 8, though the Bucs could still list him as questionable on their Friday injury report.
Nov 5, 2020
Remains limited at practice
Godwin (finger) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Though Godwin's ability to practice on a limited basis for the second day in a row is a welcome sight, his activity in Friday's session will ultimately be the deciding factor in whether he returns from a one-game absence Sunday versus New Orleans. Head coach Bruce Arians noted that Godwin will attempt to catch passes Friday, marking the first time he's been cleared to do so since undergoing surgery on his fractured left index finger last week. If Godwin experiences no issues with catching and securing the ball, he should be ready to handle a full snap load Sunday, but predicting how the targets will be divvied up in Tampa Bay's deep group of pass catchers may be difficult. The Buccaneers will have Antonio Brown available to make his team debut this weekend, though it's unclear how extensively he'll be involved as he sees his first game action in more than a year.
Nov 4, 2020
Officially limited Wednesday
Godwin (finger) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was previously reported to have participated fully in his return to practice Wednesday, but he's listed as limited on Tampa Bay's official injury report. It's encouraging to see Godwin handling even limited reps, though coach Bruce Arians' comment that he "won't know until Friday if [Godwin] can catch a ball," per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com, appears to hint that his status for Week 9 is still undetermined. Of course, the Buccaneers' addition of Antonio Brown could result in Godwin seeing increased competition for targets even if he's able to suit up against the Saints on Sunday night.
Nov 4, 2020
Practices fully, but status TBD
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Godwin (finger) participated fully in Wednesday's walk-through practice, though the receiver didn't catch passes during the session, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "We won't know until Friday if he can catch a ball," Arians said of Godwin.
ANALYSIS
While a player's full participation to begin the week of practice normally bodes well for his chances of gaining clearance for game action, Arians' comments imply that Godwin's status will still need to be monitored heading into the weekend. Godwin, who is looking to return from Oct. 27 surgery to repair a fractured left index finger, has been Tom Brady's favorite target when he's been healthy this season, with the wideout producing 25 receptions for 279 yards and two touchdowns over the four games he's played. The 24-year-old may notice a slight downturn in his opportunities once cleared to play, however, as the Buccaneers will add seven-time Pro Bowler Antonio Brown to their pass-catching group this Sunday against the Saints.
Nov 1, 2020
Viewed as '50-50' for Week 9
Godwin (finger), who has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Giants, is believed to have a "50-50" chance of suiting up in the Buccaneers' Week 9 contest against the Saints, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Prior to undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured index finger on his left hand, Godwin was initially told by doctors that he would be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks. After pins were placed in his finger as part of the procedure, however, doctors adjusted Godwin's timetable, estimating that the wideout would miss only 1-to-2 weeks. That timeline now leaves the door open for Godwin to suit up Week 9, but his availability may come down to what he's able to do in the Buccaneers' next three practices Wednesday through Friday. If Godwin is forced to miss a second straight game as a result of the surgery, the Bucs could have to rely more heavily on the newly signed Antonio Brown (suspension), who is slated to make his team debut against New Orleans.
Oct 27, 2020
Out Week 8 after finger surgery
Godwin underwent surgery Tuesday to address a fractured left index finger, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. He's expected to miss the Buccaneers' Week 8 game against the Giants on Nov. 2.
ANALYSIS
Though Godwin wasn't forced to exit early Sunday in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders, the wideout apparently sustained the injury on his touchdown catch with 7:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. He finished the contest with nine receptions for 88 yards on nine targets while playing 59 of the Bucs' 72 offensive snaps. According to Stroud, Godwin's surgery went without a hitch and his prognosis is good, leaving the Buccaneers optimistic he'll be ready to return to action Week 9 against the Saints. If that's the case, Godwin would be rejoining a pass-catching group that includes the newly signed Antonio Brown, who is expected to be reinstated from his suspension at the conclusion of Week 8.
Oct 25, 2020
Team-leading catch total in win
Godwin hauled in all nine targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's catch total led the Buccaneers on the afternoon and both his reception and receiving yardage tallies served as his highest of the campaign as well. The fourth-year wideout also recorded his second touchdown of the season on a four-yard grab with 7:22 remaining in the contest, making it his best all-around fantasy outing of 2020. Godwin's target share is expected to take a hit to a degree whenever Antonio Brown (suspension) gets fully integrated into the offense beginning Week 9, but Godwin should still be a prime target for Tom Brady against the Giants in a Week 8 Monday night battle.
Oct 23, 2020
Removed from injury report
Godwin (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Godwin returned to the lineup last week and caught five of seven targets for 48 yards while playing 63 percent of offensive snaps. He was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday this week, but there isn't any concern about his availability for the game. It is possible Godwin continues to see his workload monitored, rather than handling snap shares in the 85-to-100 percent range the way he did all of last season.
Oct 22, 2020
Reps capped again
Godwin (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Both Godwin and Mike Evans (ankle) have been limited in the Buccaneers' first two practices of Week 7, but head coach Bruce Arians hasn't suggested that either wideout is at any real risk of sitting out Sunday's game in Las Vegas. If Godwin follows the same practice pattern from last week, he'll upgrade to full activity Friday and avoid carrying an injury designation into the matchup with the Raiders.
Oct 21, 2020
Limited practice Wednesday
Godwin (hamstring) is listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
In his first appearance since Week 3 this past Sunday against the Packers, Godwin logged a below average 62 percent share of the snaps on offense en route to five catches (on seven targets) for 48 yards. For the time being, he's the Buccaneers' clear No. 2 wide receiver behind Mike Evans, but as he gets healthier Godwin may draw closer to a co-leading WR on the team.
Oct 18, 2020
Five grabs in return
Godwin caught five of seven targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The Bucs' defense dominated for most of the afternoon, leaving little for the team's passing game to do, but Godwin was still able to draw solid target volume in just his third appearance of the year. Expect the game script to be a little more favorable, and Godwin to be more productive, in Week 7's road tilt against the Raiders.
Oct 16, 2020
Set for Sunday return
Godwin (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Bruce Arians said he expected the star wideout to return this week, and we now have confirmation after Godwin upgraded to full practice participation Friday. He'll make his first appearance since Week 3, teaming up with Mike Evans to give Tom Brady a formidable duo at wide receiver. Godwin has 11 catches for 143 yards and a touchdown in his two games this year.
Oct 16, 2020
Should be able to play
Coach Bruce Arians said Friday that he thinks Godwin (hamstring) will return for Sunday's game against Green Bay, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like the wide receiver will be treated as a game-time decision, but with a general sense of optimism that he'll be able to suit up. Godwin was a limited practice participant both Wednesday and Thursday, taking a tangible step forward after he was a non-participant all last week. A 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff isn't ideal for fantasy purposes, but it is possible Godwin's status becomes clear before Sunday afternoon.
Oct 15, 2020
Still limited at practice
Godwin (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
For the second day in a row, the Buccaneers listed Godwin with LP next to his name. He's working his way back from a right hamstring strain, so his Week 6 availability could come down to the wire, but Friday's practice report will give an indication of whether he's trending toward his first appearance since Week 3. Elsewhere in the Tampa Bay receiving corps, Mike Evans (ankle) returned to practice with a cap on his reps, Scotty Miller (hip/groin) again was limited, and Justin Watson (chest) remained a full participant.
Oct 14, 2020
Limited in practice Wednesday
Godwin (hamstring) is listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
After missing the past two games due to a strained right hamstring, Godwin is putting himself in a position to return to action Sunday versus the Packers. He'll have two more chances to do so before the Bucs give him a designation for Week 6. Meanwhile, Mike Evans (ankle) was a DNP on Wednesday, Scotty Miller (hip/groin) was limited and Justin Watson (chest) was full, indicating the varying levels of health in Tampa Bay's receiving corps.
Oct 13, 2020
Spotted running at practice
Godwin (hamstring) was able to do some running on a side field Tuesday during the Buccaneers' practice session, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a right hamstring strain suffered Week 3, Godwin has logged no recorded practice activity prior to sitting out the Buccaneers' last two contests. While another update on the extent of Godwin's participation won't be known until the Buccaneers release their first Week 6 injury report Wednesday, the fact that he was on the field while donning a helmet Tuesday -- albeit off to the side rather than with the main group -- represents a meaningful step forward in the recovery process. If Godwin isn't able to make it back for Sunday's game against the Packers, Tyler Johnson and/or Justin Watson (chest) could be in store for more snaps alongside starting wideouts Mike Evans and Scotty Miller.
Oct 7, 2020
Ruled out for Week 5
Godwin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game at Chicago, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Godwin won't be available to the Buccaneers offense Week 5 due to a strained right hamstring. Justin Watson (chest) also won't play, so the receiving corps likely will be led by Mike Evans (ankle) and Scotty Miller (hip/groin), who both are listed as questionable.
Oct 6, 2020
Not practicing Tuesday
Godwin (hamstring) was unable to practice Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin is expected to miss his third game of the season Thursday at Chicago, which would mark his second DNP in a row due to his current concern, a strained right hamstring. With Godwin out of the lineup this past Sunday against the Chargers, Scotty Miller (hip/groin) stepped in and had five catches (on seven targets) for 83 yards and one touchdown. That said, all of Godwin, Miller, Mike Evans (ankle) and Justin Watson (chest) have yet to practice this week, placing a cloud over the entire receiving corps.
Oct 5, 2020
DNP on Monday
Godwin (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Godwin joined Mike Evans (ankle), Scotty Miller (hip/groin) and Justin Watson (chest) as DNPs to kick off Week 5 prep. There's an expectation Godwin doesn't suit up Thursday at Chicago, but it'd be a great sign for his health if he's able to get back on the practice field this week. In Godwin's stead, Miller racked up five catches (on seven targets) for 83 yards and one touchdown Sunday versus the Chargers.
Oct 4, 2020
Unlikely to play Thursday
Coach Bruce Arians doesn't expect Godwin (hamstring) to be available for Thursday's contest at Chicago, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
In a report from Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN.com early this past week, it was rumored that Godwin was in line to miss multiple games, the result of the Bucs having two games in a five-day span. Indeed, Godwin didn't suit up Week 4, and now his standing will be monitored with just a handful of days to prepare for the Bears. Mike Evans briefly left Sunday's win versus the Chargers, too, which could improve the stocks of Scotty Miller and Justin Watson in the short term.
Oct 2, 2020
Ruled out officially
Godwin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Reports earlier this week suggested Godwin was in danger of missing multiple games, and it doesn't help his cause that the Bucs play on Thursday Night Football against the Bears in Week 5. He didn't practice at all this week, so a return for the Thursday game doesn't seem especially likely. Fellow wideout Justin Watson has been cleared to return from a shoulder injury for Sunday's game, while Scotty Miller (hip) appears questionable.
Oct 2, 2020
Not spotted Friday
Godwin (hamstring) was not spotted at the portion of Friday's practice open to the media, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin appears set to miss his third straight practice of the week, which isn't too surprising considering that the star wideout is in danger of sitting out up to two games. When the Buccaneers release Friday's official practice report this afternoon, an official designation for Godwin's Week 4 availability will be provided.
Oct 1, 2020
Spectator for another practice
Godwin (hamstring) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reported a day earlier that Godwin is likely to be sidelined for the Buccaneers' next two games, so his lack of practice activity Wednesday and Thursday doesn't come as a major surprise. Scotty Miller (hip/groin) is also missing his second practice in a row, so the Buccaneers could be shorthanded at receiver if neither he nor Godwin are cleared to play Sunday against the Chargers. Justin Watson and Tyler Johnson would be the top candidates to join Mike Evans in three-receiver sets if both Godwin and Miller are out.
Sep 30, 2020
DNP on Wednesday
Godwin (hamstring) was held out of practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's lack of reps Wednesday doesn't come as a shock due to an ESPN report from Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano which laid out his upcoming schedule. After straining his right hamstring Sunday at Denver, Godwin is expected to sit out Week 4 against the Chargers and likely Week 5 in Chicago. Those games are within five days of each other, so the Buccaneers seem to be focused on getting Godwin healthy for a Week 6 showdown with the Packers. Meanwhile, Scotty Miller (hip) also didn't practice Wednesday, so Tampa Bay is left with Mike Evans, Justin Watson (shoulder), Jaydon Mickens and Tyler Johnson as its healthy options at wide receiver.
Sep 30, 2020
May miss two games
Godwin (hamstring) is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Chargers, and he could also be in danger of sitting out the Buccaneers' Week 5 game in Chicago, Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN.com report.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Bucs' Week 2 win over Carolina with a concussion, Godwin returned to action last weekend in Denver, but he was forced out of the contest in the third quarter with the right hamstring injury. Given that Godwin also missed time late last season with a hamstring issue, the Buccaneers may be incentivized to take things slowly with the star wideout. On a more positive note, the Buccaneers don't believe Godwin's latest health setback is a major concern, as the team is hopeful he'll be ready to play again no later than the Week 6 game versus Green Bay.
Sep 28, 2020
Likely to miss time
The Buccaneers expect Godwin (hamstring) to miss some time, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like the wide receiver will likely miss Sunday's game against the Chargers and then possibly the team's Thursday night game in Chicago on Oct. 8. If that's the case, look for Scotty Miller (hip/groin) to see added opportunities in the Bucs' offense alongside Mike Evans during that span.
Sep 28, 2020
MRI on tap
Godwin (hamstring) is scheduled to receive an MRI on Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was quickly ruled out of Sunday's win over the Broncos upon suffering his hamstring injury, and he'll now receive an MRI to officially diagnose the severity of the issue. In the event that Godwin is forced to miss any time and rehab on the sideline, Scotty Miller would likely take over in the slot as the No. 2 wideout behind Mike Evans. Justin Watson (shoulder) would be a candidate to start in three-receiver sets.
Sep 27, 2020
Won't return Sunday
Godwin is ruled out to return to Sunday's game against the Broncos due to a hamstring injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin managed to clear the concussion protocol in time to suit up versus Denver, but he's now been ruled out in the fourth quarter due to what appears to be a right hamstring strain. It's somewhat worrying that Godwin was ruled out mere minutes after leaving the field, but it's worth noting that the Buccaneers are also nursing an 18-point lead with less than 14 minutes of play remaining. In the meantime, Scotty Miller stands to see increased looks as the No. 2 receiver across from Mike Evans.
Sep 21, 2020
Clears concussion protocol
Godwin fully cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol on Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was forced to sit out Sunday's win over the Panthers due to a concussion, but coach Bruce Arians has already confirmed that he's "good to go" for Week 3 at Denver, per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. The 24-year-old wideout will return to the lineup alongside Mike Evans as one of Tom Brady's clear top targets, a development which will push Scotty Miller back into the No. 3 spot and Justin Watson back into a depth role.
Sep 19, 2020
Will not play Sunday
Godwin (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This shouldn't come as a major surprise considering coach Bruce Arians suggested Friday Godwin was still doubtful after displaying symptoms of a possible concussion earlier in the week. Expect Scotty Miller, who caught five of his six targets for 73 yards last week, to take on a larger workload while Justin Watson acts as the No. 3 wideout with Godwin now officially sidelined. It's also possible the Buccaneers could operate in more multi-TE sets which would open the door for both Rob Gronkowski and OJ Howard to make their presences felt after the latter secured a late touchdown in last week's loss.
Sep 18, 2020
Officially listed as doubtful
Godwin (concussion) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
However, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Godwin could be upgraded to 'questionable' if doctors give him favorable feedback after he goes through more testing Saturday. This is especially noteworthy after the Bucs upgraded Mike Evans (hamstring) from doubtful to questionable last weekend, then used him on 93 percent of offensive snaps in a loss to the Saints. Evans has been removed from the Week 2 injury report, so he could be looking at a huge target haul if Godwin doesn't end up playing. Scotty Miller and Justin Watson would round out three-wide formations in that scenario, but it's also possible the Bucs would use more multi-TE looks with Godwin out of the lineup. Fortunately, the Bucs and Panthers are scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, giving Godwin's fantasy managers a full array of alternatives if he's declared inactives.
Sep 18, 2020
Not expected to play
Coach Bruce Arians said Friday that Godwin (concussion) is "still doubtful" for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if Godwin will get the corresponding designation on the final injury report, or if he'll instead be listed as 'questionable' or 'out'. He was present at the team facility Friday morning, undergoing testing to evaluate his concussion symptoms.
Sep 18, 2020
Back at practice Friday
Godwin (concussion) was present at practice Friday with a helmet, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old sat out the first two practices of the week while in the concussion protocol, but he appears to have made some progress Friday. Godwin still may not have fully cleared the protocol, but the fact he's practicing in some capacity is good news and opens the window for him suiting up Week 2. More information will be available when the Tampa Bay releases its official injury report later in the day.
Sep 17, 2020
Missing another practice
Godwin (concussion) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers first placed Godwin in the NFL's concussion protocol Wednesday, so his lack of activity a day later doesn't come as a major surprise. He'll still have two full days to clear the five-step protocol ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers, and ideally, Godwin would put in a limited or full workout in the Bucs' final practice session of the week Friday to provide a sign that he's progressing. Fellow starting wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, so the Tampa Bay passing attack could be operating at less-than-full strength Week 2.
Sep 16, 2020
Misses practice with concussion
Godwin (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin landed in the league's five-step concussion protocol due to a hard hit sustained during Sunday's loss to the Saints, and he hasn't yet progressed to the point where he's able to practice in any capacity. The 24-year-old reportedly didn't notice his symptoms until Wednesday morning, per Field Yates of ESPN, so he stands to be held out of practice for at least another day or two. With fellow starter Mike Evans (hamstring) listed as limited Wednesday, Scotty Miller and Justin Watson will begin the week as Tampa Bay's top healthy receivers.
Sep 16, 2020
Lands in concussion protocol
Godwin is in the concussion protocol, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin took a hard hit during Sunday's 34-23 loss to New Orleans, and while he initially didn't display any symptoms, coach Bruce Arians revealed Wednesday that the wide receiver is now being monitored for aftereffects of a possible concussion. Godwin apparently noticed symptoms Wednesday morning, so he'll be held out of practice for at least a day or two. It isn't yet clear if he'll be available for Week 2 against the Panthers.

Leading target for Brady in Week 1
Godwin caught six of seven target for 79 yards in Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
All three figures led the Bucs in Tom Brady's debut at quarterback, a very encouraging sign for the chemistry between the duo. Mike Evans may not have been 100 percent for the contest after battling a hamstring strain early in the week, creating more opportunities for Godwin, but there's no guarantee Brady's 43-year-old arm will be able to take full advantage of Evans as a downfield threat even when he's healthy. After a career year in 2019 that included 121 targets, Godwin appears headed for high volume again this season.

Returns from brief absence
Godwin returned to practice Thursday morning, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin was held out the previous two days, albeit with no report of an injury. Absent any further updates, he should be ready for his usual every-down role and steady target volume Week 1 in New Orleans.

Misses multiple practices
Godwin has missed three practices recently, including back-to-back sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
When asked about the absences, coach Bruce Arians said, "That's for me to know and nobody else to find out." Not exactly a helpful comment, but we can at least guess that Arians wouldn't be joking around if Godwin were dealing with a serious issue. The star wide receiver reportedly has looked good when he's been able to practice, quickly developing chemistry with QB Tom Brady.

Strong rapport with Brady
Godwin has been consistently making plays throughout early training camp practices and demonstrating his trademark run-after-catch ability,
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wideout has stood out as a frequent quick-strike target for Tom Brady during practices over the last few days, with some nifty moves that facilitated a few extra yards after a short grab in Thursday's session drawing some ire for the linebackers from position coach Larry Foote. Godwin was part of the skill-position group that regularly met with Brady for workouts at Berkeley Preparatory School for multiple weeks earlier this summer, and the work they put in has seemed to pay dividends in the form of frequent connections at varying depths downfield in the early portion of training camp.

Continues attending workouts
Godwin was among approximately a dozen Buccaneers players present for a two-hour workout at Berkeley Preparatory School on Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite the NFLPA advising players to not continue congregating for private workouts in the wake of a slew of coronavirus infections around the country and to multiple players, quarterback Tom Brady continues to convene the early-morning sessions at Berkeley. The group that's regularly in attendance has steadily grown, and Godwin has been a consistent participant from the start several weeks ago. He once again ran a full array of routes Tuesday, working alongside new arrival Rob Gronkowski, among others. Godwin's 2020 outlook is bright with Brady at the helm, although the addition of Gronkowski certainly has the potential to eat into the overall target share on the team.

Sees upgrade at quarterback
Godwin (hamstring) is slated to catch passes from Tom Brady now that the latter has agreed to a two-year deal with the Buccaneers, Jim Trotter of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin navigated the inaccuracy and ball-security issues of former battery mate Jameis Winston to post a career-high 86-1,333-9 line in 2019, his first season in coach Bruce Arians' aggressive passing attack. He now gets a major upgrade at quarterback in Brady, with the future Hall of Famer excelling at the intermediate routes that Godwin has thrived with over his first three seasons. The Penn State product recorded 22 catches of between 20 and 39 yards last season, and Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times relays comments from ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky in which the former NFL quarterback emphasizes his belief Brady's arm remains more than strong enough to thrive on the downhill play-action passes that Arians' system frequently calls for.

Can't play in Pro Bowl
Godwin (hamstring) won't play in the Pro Bowl, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin's hamstring injury has lingered deep into January, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will still be an issue when the Bucs start their offseason program in mid-April. The team's quarterback situation is a bigger concern, with Jameis Winston set to become an unrestricted free agent if the Bucs don't use the franchise tag or sign him to a new contract before March 18.

Hamstring injury similar to Evans'
Coach Bruce Arians called Godwin's hamstring injury "not good" following Sunday's 38-17 win at Detroit, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Just one game removed from fellow wideout Mike Evans suffering a serious hamstring injury, the same fate befell Godwin. Prior to Godwin's departure in the third quarter, he racked up what ended up being a team-best 121 yards on his five catches (seven targets). If Godwin and Evans are out of the lineup Saturday against the Texans, their combined 17.6 targets per game on the campaign will be available for the likes of Breshad Perriman, Justin Watson and Ishmael Hyman to take on. Meanwhile, Scott Miller might not join that trio due to the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday.

Good to go
Godwin (hip) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have a designation on the final injury report for Sunday's game in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
There was never any real question after Godwin put up a 12-172-2 receiving line last week in Los Angeles while playing through the same hip injury. He'll take aim at a New Orleans defense that's given up the fifth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers, yielding 10.1 YPT and a 62.7 percent catch rate. The Saints did look much better last week against the Cowboys, limiting Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper to their worst games of the young season.

Bumps up to limited
Godwin (hip) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Godwin followed a DNP/DNP/LP practice regimen last week, only to tear up the Rams this past Sunday for 12 catches, 172 yards and two touchdowns on 14 targets. After being held out of practice Wednesday, he's ahead of that schedule, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to shed his injury designation entirely ahead of Sunday's visit to New Orleans.

Hip injury lingers
Godwin did not practice Wednesday due to a hip injury, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday due to a hip issue, but he managed to play through the injury en route to a stunning Week 4 performance of 12 catches, 172 yards and two scores. If the 23-year-old is able to practice in some capacity by the end of the week, it'll bode well for his availability approaching Sunday's tilt in New Orleans.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Godwin (undisclosed) was held out of practice Wednesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The reason for Godwin's absence is unknown, but he missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday last week because of a hip issue. He proceeded to be a game-time decision Sunday and then busted out for 172 yards and two TDs against the Rams. The Buccaneers will reveal what is affecting Godwin on Wednesday's injury report.

Sits out again Thursday
Godwin (hip) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This was more or less the expectation when Godwin wasn't spotted on the field during the part of practice open to the media. His status for Week 4 will become more clear upon the release of Friday's injury report. If Godwin begins to trend toward a DNP, Mike Evans would have a healthy share of targets available to him, while tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate would be in line for additional work.

Dealing with hip injury
Coach Bruce Arians said Godwin didn't practice Wednesday due to a hip injury, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Godwin played 96 percent of the offensive snaps in Sunday's 32-31 loss to the Giants, turning four targets into three catches for 40 yards. He also didn't reach the end zone for the first time in three contests to start the season. With a hip issue in tow, Godwin's practice reps will be something to watch as the week goes on.
