Good to go Sunday
Manhertz (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the 49ers, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz dealt with an illness during the week but was able to log a full practice Friday. With Daniel Bellinger (neck) doubtful to play, Manhertz could see an increased role as a blocker at tight end.
Oct 30, 2025
Logs second straight limited practice
Manhertz (illness) was limited at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz is dealing with an illness and has been limited at each of New York's first two practice sessions to begin the week. It still seems more likely than not that he'll be able to play Sunday versus San Francisco, though he may enter the weekend with an injury status if he's not able to log a full practice Friday. Manhertz typically works in a blocking role and has just one catch on one target for seven yards through eight games this season.

Returns to practice
Manhertz (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz missed the Giants' second preseason game over the weekend, but his injury clearly isn't severe. The veteran tight end is more of a block-first player at the position.

Sits out second preseason game
Manhertz (undisclosed) didn't play against the Jets in Saturday's preseason contest, and he appears to be dealing with an injury, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz also didn't participate in joint practices with the Jets last week, per Evan Barnes of Newsday, though it's not clear what type of issue he's dealing with. The veteran tight end has little appeal in fantasy due to his lack of work in the passing game, though he's valuable to the Giants' offense for his work as a blocker.

Returns to field
Manhertz (finger) participated in Wednesday's practice, Anne-Marie Caruso of NorthJersey.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz underwent surgery after sustaining a finger injury in the Giants' 2024 season finale, but it now appears he's moved past the issue. The 33-year-old from Canisius appeared in all 17 of New York's games last season, catching three passes for 30 yards and one touchdown across 329 offensive snaps. He's expected to remain one of the team's top reserve tight ends in 2025.
Mar 8, 2025
Staying with Big Blue
Manhertz (finger) and the Giants agreed to a one-year contract Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz played in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with three catches (on four targets) for 30 yards and one touchdown. He suffered ligament ruptures to his finger in Week 18 against the Eagles, but he is expected to be available for offseason programs after undergoing surgery to repair the issue.
Jan 6, 2025
Getting surgery on finger
Manhertz will undergo surgery Thursday to address ligament ruptures in one of his fingers, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz presumably suffered the injury to his finger during Sunday's game at Philadelphia. His next chance to play will come in 2025, and he wraps up this season with three catches for 30 yards and a touchdown on four targets.
Mar 15, 2024
Catches on with New York
The Giants have agreed to terms with Manhertz, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz, who turns 32 next month, has logged a total of 26 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns over the course of 120 games since entering the NFL in 2016. While the 6-foot-6, 235-pounder is off the fantasy radar, he does offer value as a blocker and can contribute on special teams. In any case, Manhertz bolsters the Giants' depth at tight end, along with fellow newcomer Jack Stoll, with top pass-catching option Darren Waller considering retirement.
Mar 8, 2024
Dropped by Denver
The Broncos released Manhertz on Friday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After appearing in 16 of the Broncos' games in 2023, the team has decided to part ways with Manhertz. The veteran tight end has also spent time with Carolina, Jacksonville and New Orleans throughout his eight-year NFL career. He's now set to hit the open market after playing a total of 453 snaps last season (367 offensive and 86 on special teams).
Jan 5, 2024
Won't play Week 18
Manhertz (illness) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
An illness has prevented Manhertz from participating in any capacity during Week 18 prep, and he's consequently been deemed unavailable for Denver's season finale versus the Raiders. The tight end will thus finish the season with two catches on four targets for 16 yards over 16 games. Manhertz typically plays from one-third to one-half of Denver's offensive snaps, and those could be absorbed by Nate Adkins on Sunday.

Returns to game
Manhertz came back in late in the first half Sunday against the Texans after exiting with a shoulder injury earlier in the half, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The backup tight end does not have a catch yet in the game. Manhertz has two catches for 16 yards and no touchdowns in 2023.
Dec 3, 2023
Questionable to return
Manhertz has a shoulder injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Texans, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The backup tight end did not make a catch before exiting. Manhertz has two catches for 16 yards and no touchdowns in 2023.
Nov 15, 2023
Notches second catch of season
Manhertz played 30 of the Broncos' 75 snaps on offense and turned his lone target into a six-yard reception in Monday's 24-22 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The six-yard grab was just the second catch of the season for Manhertz. The 31-year-old has been active for all nine of the Broncos' games this season and has played at least 20 percent of the snaps on offense each time, but he's been deployed almost exclusively as a blocker when he's on the field.
Mar 13, 2023
Moving to Denver
Manhertz is slated to sign a two-year, $6 million deal with the Broncos, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz will join his fourth team as he goes into his eighth season. Primarily a blocking specialist, he's never caught more than six passes in a season. With
Jan 22, 2023
Just six catches in 2022
Manhertz played in all 17 games during the 2022 season and caught six of eight targets for 42 yards.
ANALYSIS
The 30-year-old primarily served as a blocking tight end for the Jaguars once again in 2022, and he was rarely targeted in the passing game. Jacksonville enters the offseason with major question marks at tight end, since starter Evan Engram, Manhertz and fellow backup Dan Arnold are all scheduled to hit free agency. Luke Farrell is currently the only tight end under contract with the Jaguars for 2023.
Dec 14, 2022
Records 21-yard reception
Manhertz played 27 of the Jaguars' 67 snaps on offense and turned his lone target into a 21-yard reception in Sunday's 36-22 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz came through with his first 20-plus-yard reception of the season, as he entered Sunday's contest with five receptions for 21 yards over his first 13 appearances. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Manhertz continues to share the field regularly with top tight end Evan Engram, but Manhertz is deployed almost exclusively as a blocker whenever he's out there.
Nov 7, 2022
One catch Week 9
Manhertz caught one of two targets for seven yards during Sunday's 27-20 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz tied a season high with 36 offensive snaps but still played only a minor role in Jacksonville's aerial attack. No. 1 tight end Evan Engram briefly left the contest with a back issue, but he returned to the field and is expected to be good to go for Week 10. Even if Engram were to miss time, Manhertz would likely still primarily function as a blocker.
Oct 10, 2022
Sees rare activity in passing game
Manhertz played 26 of the Jaguars' 73 offensive snaps in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Texans, finishing with two receptions for 15 yards on two targets.
ANALYSIS
After his first catch of 2022 last week against the Eagles went for no gain, Manhertz was credited with positive yardage for the first time all season Week 5. With snap shares between 28 and 48 percent through each of the Jaguars' first five games, Manhertz looks secure as the top backup to No. 1 tight end Evan Engram, but the 6-foot-6, 255-pound Manhertz will operate almost exclusively as a blocker whenever he's on the field.
Sep 12, 2022
No targets in loss
Manhertz played 25 of 70 offensive snaps and wasn't targeted during Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The 30-year-old worked as the Jaguars' No. 2 tight end behind starter Evan Engram but didn't have any involvement in the passing game. Manhertz played in all 17 games last year but totaled only six catches for 71 yards and one touchdown, and he's opened 2022 by once again working as a block-first tight end.
Jan 12, 2022
No targets in finale
Manhertz played 30 of 68 offensive snaps during Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts and didn't receive a target.
ANALYSIS
Jacob Hollister and Luke Farrell both saw a bit more playing time, but Hollister was the only Jags tight end to be a factor in the passing game with three catches for 14 yards. Manhertz joined Jacksonville on a two-year, $6.65 million deal in March 2021, and he caught six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in 17 games. The 29-year-old is set to make $2.9 million in 2022 and should continue to see most of his action as a blocking tight end.
Jan 3, 2022
One target Week 17
Manhertz failed to catch his only target during Sunday's 50-10 loss at New England.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz played only 16 of 47 offensive snaps with James O'Shaughnessy sidelined, as Luke Farrell operated as the No. 1 tight end. Manhertz has only six receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown through 16 games and is clearly an afterthought in Jacksonville's passing game.
Jan 1, 2022
Returns from COVID list
Manhertz (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz landed on the COVID-19 list Monday after testing positive for the virus, but he was able to clear the protocols and will be available for Sunday's matchup with New England. The 29-year-old is poised to operate as the Jags' No. 1 tight end since James O'Shaugnessy sidelined by a hip injury.
Dec 27, 2021
Moves to COVID list
Manhertz (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz wasn't targeted on 27 offensive snaps during Sunday's loss to the Jets, and he's now entered the health and safety protocols. Luke Farrell (undisclosed) also landed on the COVID-19 list, leaving James O'Shaughnessy and Jacob Hollister as the only available tight ends on the roster.
Oct 1, 2021
Secures lone target
Manhertz caught his only target for seven yards during Thursday's 24-21 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz started and led Jacksonville's tight ends with 24 offensive snaps, but Dan Arnold, Luke Farrell and Jacob Hollister all saw double-digit snaps. Most notable is Arnold, as he was only acquired from the Panthers on Monday and caught both his targets for 29 yards in his debut with the Jags. Manhertz should continue to play regular snaps as a blocking specialist, but Arnold should see more and more playing time as he gets more accustomed to his new offense.
Sep 27, 2021
Not targeted in defeat
Manhertz wasn't targeted and played 25 offensive snaps during Sunday's 31-19 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old received the start at tight end with James O'Shaughnessy (knee) on injured reserve, but Jacob Hollister ended up leading the position group with 46 offensive snaps. Hollister caught only two of six targets for 15 yards, while Luke Farrell played only 17 snaps and caught his lone target for negative-one yard. The Jaguars were clearly unhappy with what they were seeing out of their tight ends and opted to acquire Dan Arnold from the Panthers on Monday, who will be a candidate to immediately take over the starting role.
Sep 20, 2021
Starting spot open
Manhertz could have an increased role with James O'Shaughnessy (ankle) facing an indefinite absence, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz wasn't targeted and played only 27 offensive snaps during Sunday's loss to Denver despite the fact O'Shaughnessy went down early with the injury. Luke Farrell caught one pass for six yards while playing 36 offensive snaps and may be the teams new top option at tight end in the passing game. Manhertz should continue to play plenty of snaps with O'Shaughnessy, out but he'll likely continue to see most of his work as a blocker.
Sep 13, 2021
Scores on lone target
Manhertz caught his only target for a 22-yard touchdown during Sunday's 37-21 loss to Texans.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old was expected to begin the season as the starting tight end after inking a two-year, $6.65 million deal in the offseason, but James O'Shaughnessy ended up receiving the nod. Manhertz played only 35 percent of the offensive snaps , but he was still able to secure the second touchdown of his career. He won't have much relevance in fantasy even if he takes over the starting role given the lack of receiving production throughout his career as he continues to work mostly as a blocker.
Aug 30, 2021
Catches lone target
Manhertz caught his only target for 15 yards during Sunday's preseason win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz played only eight offensive snaps and connected with Trevor Lawrence for a 15-yard gain in the first quarter. The 29-year-old played sparingly throughout the preseason and caught his only other target for five yards. Manhertz inked a two-year, $7.25 million deal with Jacksonville in March and should have a regular role in the offense, but with 12 receptions in 70 career games his outlook entering Week 1 at Houston remains that of a blocking-oriented tight end. James O'Shaughnessy may be more involved in the passing game at the position for the Jaguars.
Mar 16, 2021
Signs with Jags
Manhertz is signing a two-year, $7.25 million contract with the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal includes $4.25 million guaranteed, a nice sum for a blocking specialist. Manhertz has 12 receptions on 1,531 offensive snaps in 70 NFL appearances.
Jan 11, 2021
Completes fifth season
Manhertz finished the 2020 season with six catches on eight targets for 52 yards in 16 games played.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz once again served a blocking role within Carolina's offense, only catching a few passes on the year. Having been with the Panthers all five years of his career, it'll be interesting to see whether the veteran returns to the team in free agency this offseason.
Nov 30, 2020
Catches one pass
Manhertz caught his lone target for 11 yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz, whose specialty is blocking, is yet to make multiple receptions in a game this season, but his one grab Sunday at least got him on the stat sheet.
Nov 22, 2020
Gearing up Sunday
Manhertz (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game versus the Lions, Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz will avoid missing his first game since Week 5 of the 2019 season. The 28-year-old tight end has recorded five receptions for 41 yards through 10 games this year, as he mainly sticks to a special-teams role.
Nov 20, 2020
Questionable for Week 12
Marhertz (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz hasn't yet missed a game this season, but it looks like he isn't a lock to suit up versus Detroit. The veteran tight end hasn't had more than one catch in a single contest this season, so it's safe to say that he remains off the fantasy radar.
Nov 19, 2020
Held back in practice Thursday
Manhertz (shoulder) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice session, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old wideout from Canisius has been active for each of the Panthers' 10 games this season, fielding a healthy 31.4 offensive snaps per game while registering six starts. An appearance on the injury report marks Manhertz's first of the campaign. He proved to be remarkably durable coming into this season, suiting up for 47 of the Panthers' 48 games between 2017 and 2019. Thus far in 2020, he has produced five receptions for 41 yards.
Oct 5, 2020
Catches one pass
Manhertz caught his lone target for 17 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz started at tight end and played nearly 80 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps, topping teammate Ian Thomas' involvement. That extra time allowed Manhertz to make his longest play of the season, but otherwise the veteran stuck to blocking. In contrast, Thomas was targeted five times and scored a touchdown, but his five total receiving yards Sunday again evidenced just how limited the Panthers' tight-end production has been to date.
Sep 21, 2020
Hauls in target
Manhertz caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz has now hauled in a pass in back-to-back games, and although that light involvement has only yielded 12 yards in total, his production doesn't differ much from starting tight end Ian Thomas' two grabs for 16 yards thus far.
Sep 14, 2020
Catches lone look
Manhertz caught his only target for four yards in Sunday's 34-30 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz filled his usual blocking role for the vast majority of Sunday's contest, but he at least made the stat sheet with a grab in the second quarter.
Jan 8, 2020
Another blocking-filled season
Manhertz finished the 2019 season with one catch for 11 yards in 15 games played.
ANALYSIS
Manhertz has featured in all but one game for the Panthers over the past three seasons, but he's never finished with more than two receptions in a given campaign. The veteran is a blocking specialist at tight end and figures to remain such in Carolina next season.
