Chris Olave Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Falcons vs Saints game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 9, 2025
Breaks out with rookie QB
Olave caught five of eight targets for 104 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-7 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wideout put together his best performance of the season in terms of yardage, capped by a 62-yard TD in the second quarter. Olave failed to see double-digit targets for only the fourth time in 2025, but he's showing some good early chemistry with rookie QB Tyler Shough, who was making his second career start. Olave will take a 60-664-4 line on 94 targets through 10 games into the Saints' bye, before facing the Falcons in Week 12.
Nov 2, 2025
Limited to four targets Week 9
Olave accrued three receptions (on four targets) for 57 yards during Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Olave was not the primary target for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, who made his first career start Sunday after replacing previous QB1 Spencer Rattler at the end of the Week 8 loss to Tampa Bay. Instead, No.2 wide receiver Rashid Shaheed led the Saints with nine targets. Olave tied with tight end Juwan Johnson for the team's second-most targets, which represented a season low for the wideout. It didn't help that LA dominated New Orleans in time of possession with 43:53-16:07. If the Saints' offense continues to struggle at this rate, then Olave could be in store for another low output Week 10 versus division-rival Carolina.
Oct 26, 2025
Strong PPR effort Sunday
Olave corralled eight of 12 targets for 63 yards while losing three yards on his only rush attempt in Sunday's 23-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Olave was unable to replicate last week's multi-score performance, but he still escaped Sunday's one-sided loss with a solid PPR score. The Saints' top wideout finished with double-digit targets for the sixth time in eight appearances this season. Olave has surpassed last year's production in an injury-shortened season with a 52-503-3 receiving line through eight starts in 2025. The Ohio State product checks in as New Orleans' safest fantasy option heading into next Sunday's tilt against the Rams.
Oct 24, 2025
Cleared to play Week 8
Olave (ankle) won't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Saints coach Kellen More preempted the final injury report, telling reporters Friday that none of his injured players will have injury designations. Olave is coming off a two-TD performance in Chicago, where his dominant volume finally translated to big-time production, though it was actually a down week for him targets-wise (seven). He got double-digit looks in five of the Saints' first six games.
Oct 23, 2025
Limited in return to practice
Olave (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Olave didn't appear to be nursing an injury during this past Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Bears, but the Saints nonetheless cited an ankle issue for his absence from Wednesday's practice. The receiver's ability to get back on the field Thursday as a limited participant offers hope that the injury isn't anything too serious, though he may still need to upgrade to full participation in Friday's practice to avoid carrying a questionable tag into Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers.
Oct 23, 2025
Returns to practice Thursday
Olave (Achilles) was spotted taking part in practice Thursday during the media-access portion of the session, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was held out of the Saints' first Week 8 practice Wednesday on account of an Achilles injury, but his presence on the field a day later offers hope that his absence was mostly maintenance-related. The Saints will release their second practice report of the week later Thursday, when it will be known whether Olave was a limited or full participant in the session. After his 2024 campaign was derailed by two concussions, Olave has enjoyed generally good health so far in 2025, suiting up for all seven of the Saints' games to date while producing a 44-440-3 receiving line on 70 targets.
Oct 22, 2025
Misses practice with ankle injury
Olave missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
There was no sign of trouble in a 26-14 loss to the Bears on Sunday, with Olave scoring his second and third TDs of the season while playing 84 percent of snaps on offense. He was listed with a hip injury last week, but returned to full participation Thursday after being limited just once. It's unclear at this point if Olave is in serious danger of missing Sunday's game against the Buccaneers or more so being held out to avoid aggravating a minor issue. A return to practice Thursday would hint at the latter.
Oct 19, 2025
Stands out amid offensive struggles
Olave brought in five of seven targets for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints' 26-14 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Olave tied with Juwan Johnson for the team lead in receptions while also setting the pace in receiving yards on the afternoon. The 2022 first-round pick connected with Spencer Rattler for touchdown catches of 21 and 14 yards in the second and third quarter, respectively, and he added a game-long 57-yard reception earlier in the drive that he capped off with his first scoring grab. Olave has been Rattler's most trusted target by far over the first seven games of the season, and the star wideout will head into next Sunday's Week 8 home matchup against the Buccaneers with a robust 44-440-3 line on 71 targets.
Oct 16, 2025
Full practice Thursday
Olave (hip) practiced fully Thursday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from operating with a cap on his reps due to a hip injury Wednesday, Olave had no limitations, indicating that he's good to go ahead of Sunday's contest at Chicago. He's tallied at least 10 targets in five of six games this season en route to a 39-342-1 line on 63 targets.
Oct 15, 2025
Dealing with hip injury
Olave was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a hip injury.
ANALYSIS
It's the first report this season of any limitations in practice, likely reflecting a new injury suffered during Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots. Olave's practice participation at the start of Week 7, even in a limited capacity, suggests he's on track to play this Sunday against the Bears. He's accounted for a whopping 32.2 percent of New Orleans' targets this season, but with meager averages of 8.8 yards per catch and 5.3 yards per target. Olave did finally hit on a big play this past Sunday, catching a deep pass for 53 yards on the first snap of the game against New England.
Oct 12, 2025
Just misses century mark in loss
Olave caught six of 10 targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wideout nearly produced his first 100-yard performance since Week 8 of last season, but Olave instead had to settle for a season high in receiving yards. He's been Spencer Rattler's favorite downfield option by far, seeing double-digit targets in five of six games to begin the campaign en route to a 39-342-1 line on 63 targets overall. Olave will look to stay productive in Week 7 against the Bears.
Oct 5, 2025
Team-high volume in win
Olave caught seven of 11 targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The catches and targets were both team highs, but Olave's output was overshadowed by an 87-yard TD by Rashid Shaheed in the second quarter that sparked the Saints' offense to life. Olave remains the the top option for QB Spencer Rattler, but his volume hasn't resulted in any big performances yet in 2025 -- despite seeing double-digit targets in four of five games and 53 looks in total, he sports just a 33-244-1 line, and Sunday's 59 receiving yards were actually his season high. He'll try to make a bigger impact in Week 6 against the Patriots.
Sep 28, 2025
Catches TD and Throws INT
Olave hauled in three of six targets for 20 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 31-19 defeat versus the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Olave logged his first touchdown of the season with a three-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. This was the silver lining, as he posted season lows in catches, targets and yards, while the Saints had more rushing attempts (34) than passing attempts (28) for the first time this season. Olave also threw an interception on his first career passing attempt. The fifth-year wideout tried to hit quarterback Spencer Rattler on a Philly Special-style trick play in the red zone, but the Bills sniffed out the play and picked it off to end the second quarter. Olave has shown good PPR value through four weeks, averaging 6.5 catches on 10.5 targets per game, but he's yet to record over 57 receiving yards in a game. He'll look to record double-digit targets for the fourth time this season during New Orleans' next game versus the Giants on Sunday, Sept. 5.
Sep 21, 2025
Posts PPR gem Sunday
Olave hauled in 10 of 14 targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 44-13 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Olave wound up playing pitch-and-catch with QB Spencer Rattler in the blowout loss, resulting in a longest reception of nine yards despite the duo connecting on 10 passes Sunday. The 25-year-old Olave still produced strong results for those in PPR formats, but he remains scoreless through the Saints' first three contest. The lack of touchdown potential limits Olave's fantasy ceiling in standard formats heading into next Sunday's tilt against the Bills.
Sep 14, 2025
Hauls in six passes in Week 2
Olave caught six of 10 targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wideout led the Saints in volume once again while seeing double-digit targets from Spencer Rattler for the second straight game. Olave is still looking for his first TD, or his first breakout performance, of 2025, but his usage in new head coach Kellen Moore's scheme suggests both will come in due time. Olave will take on a Seahawks secondary in Week 3 that has been stingy so far against WRs, but which did give up a TD to DK Metcalf in Week 2.
Sep 7, 2025
Sees big volume in loss
Olave caught seven of 13 targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The oft-injured wideout went to sidelines early in the game with what was reported to be a chest injury, but Olave quickly returned and wound up leading the Saints in targets, although tight end Juwan Johnson surpassed him in catches and yards. New Orleans' passing game under new coach Kellen Moore could be a boon to all the team's top pass-catchers, as Spencer Rattler attempted a career-high 46 passes despite the game that the score remained fairly close the whole way. Olave will look to stay on the field and continue building chemistry with Rattler in a Week 2 home clash against the 49ers.
Aug 23, 2025
Three catches to close preseason
Olave brought in all three targets for 29 yards in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Olave finished in a three-way tie for the team lead in receptions while profiling as the runner-up in receiving yards. The 2022 first-round pick made catches of 12, seven and 10 yards while working with Spencer Rattler on the Saints' first three drives, and he'll head into the regular season poised to reprise his No. 1 receiver role while working with either Rattler or Shough as his quarterback.
Aug 17, 2025
Catches two passes from rookie QB
Olave (ankle) caught two of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 17-17 preseason tie against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Olave saw his first game action since Week 9 of the 2024 regular season, when he suffered a season-ending concussion. He then missed the Saints' preseason opener against the Chargers due to an ankle injury. The 2022 first-round pick has regained health, but he could be held back by questionable quarterback play in 2025. Both of Olave's catches Sunday came on passes from rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough, who is competing against Spencer Rattler for the starting role after Derek Carr retired in the offseason. New Orleans hasn't settled on a starting QB ahead of the team's final preseason game against the Broncos on Saturday.
Aug 17, 2025
Might play Sunday
Olave (ankle) is suited up and participating in pre-game warmups ahead of Sunday's preseason opener against the Jaguars, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave has been dealing with an ankle injury and was sidelined for the Saints' preseason opener against the Chargers. He'll join Alvin Kamara and Rashid Shaheed in warmups, but it's far from a guarantee that Olave sees the field Sunday, and even if he does he would likely be limited to one or two offensive series. The Saints' depth wideouts should see the bulk of the workload Sunday, including Brandin Cooks, Cedrick Wilson, Mason Tipton and Kevin Austin.
Aug 10, 2025
Unlikely to play Sunday
Based on pre-game warmups, Olave (ankle) is not in line to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Chargers, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither Olave or Rashid Shaheed were spotted warming up with the other Saints wideouts, and it appears the duo will be sidelined for Sunday's contest, leaving Brandin Cooks, Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson as the top wideouts. Olave is working through a minor ankle injury, and his next opportunity to suit up will be against the Jaguars on Sunday, Aug. 17.
Aug 8, 2025
Working through ankle injury
Olave did not participate in Friday's training camp practice after injuring his ankle during Thursday's session, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was able to finish Thursday's practice after getting his ankle taped and the injury is considered day-to-day, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. It could prevent Olave from playing in Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers, which would open the door for Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson to work with Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks in three-man wideout sets.
Jul 22, 2025
Full participant to start camp
Olave (concussion) has no restrictions to begin training camp and will be a full participant, Erin Summers of the Saints' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave participated in the offseason program, so this was the expected news entering training camp. Nonetheless, it's noteworthy considering Olave's history of concussions. Olave was able to play in just eight regular-season games last season, and he's now going to be catching passes from someone other than Derek Carr in 2025. The Saints are holding a three-man quarterback competition this summer, with the candidates being second-round rookie Tyler Shough, 2024 fifth-rounder Spencer Rattler and 2023 fourth-round pick Jake Haener.
May 30, 2025
Full participant at OTAs
Olave (concussion) is participating in OTAs without restrictions and took reps returning punts Thursday, Luke Johnson of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave hasn't been tasked with fielding punt or kick returns once since joining the league in 2022, so Thursday's special-teams reps likely don't forebode any actual upcoming usage in the return game. It's simply encouraging to note that the fourth-year pro looks completely healthy at spring practices, as Matthew Paras of NOLA.com reports, and that he's been available to assist with New Orleans' three-way quarterback competition in the wake of Derek Carr (shoulder) retiring. Olave has some experience with both Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener (oblique), the latter of whom could be out until training camp, but rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough is an entirely new name in the mix. The Saints exercised Olave's fifth-year option in April, so his rookie deal with the team now runs through 2026.
Apr 23, 2025
Fifth-year option to be picked up
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Wednesday that the team plans to exercise the fifth-year option on Olave's (concussion) contract, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave, a 2022 first-round pick, will now have his rookie contract run through 2026, with its final year projected at a guaranteed $16.8 million salary. The star wideout missed the final eight games of 2024 due to a concussion -- his second of the season -- though he did resume practicing in full for the regular season's final two weeks. New head coach called Olave a "phenomenal player" at the 2025 NFL owners meeting early APril, per Michael Rothstein of ESPN, expressing that the team has a plan moving forward to factor "the circumstances he is in" from a medical perspective.
Jan 4, 2025
Won't be activated off IR
Olave (concussion), who was listed as questionable, has been downgraded to out and will not play in Week 18, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite Olave being a full participant in practice each of the past two weeks, it would have been a legitimate surprise if the wideout played in a meaningless Week 18 matchup for the Saints. The star wideout missed the team's final eight contests due to a second concussion of the season suffered back in Week 10.
Jan 3, 2025
Questionable for Week 18
Olave (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Jeff Nowak of WWLAM FM reports.
ANALYSIS
Long-time Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football says he'll be "pretty surprised" if Olave plays. Olave has been a full practice participant for the past two weeks and wants to play, but the Saints have concerns about both his concussion history and conditioning level. They'll need to active him from injured reserve Saturday if he's going to play Sunday.
Jan 2, 2025
Another full session Thursday
Olave (concussion) was a full practice participant Thursday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if Olave is putting himself in a position for his first game action since Week 9, when he sustained a concussion, but he now has been listed as full on five straight injury reports. The Saints could make a ruling on his status as soon as they post their final Week 18 report Friday, but they also may keep the door open for him to suit up Sunday in Tampa Bay.
Jan 1, 2025
Another full practice
Olave (concussion) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Olave now has been listed as full on four consecutive practice reports, but he's yet to receive clearance from an independent neurologist following the concussion that he suffered Week 9 at Carolina. Interim coach Darren Rizzi relayed Monday that Olave also needs to improve his conditioning level, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com. Nevertheless, Olave at least appears to be on a path to returning to action Sunday in Tampa Bay, something that may be confirmed as soon as New Orleans posts its final Week 18 injury report Friday.
Dec 30, 2024
Wants to return for Week 18
Olave (concussion), who remains on IR, want to play Sunday versus Tampa Bay, but his return is contingent on his conditioning level and the go-ahead from the team's medical staff, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave hasn't played since Week 9, and the Saints have no shot at making the playoffs. Nonetheless, the veteran wideout wants to return for the team's season finale Sunday, according to head coach Darren Rizzi. Olave is expected to practice Wednesday, which will increase his chance of being activated ahead of Sunday, though at this point Olave's status remains up in the air.
Dec 28, 2024
Won't return in Week 17
The Saints have ruled out Olave (concussion) for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Olave was tagged with a questionable designation on the Saints' final Week 17 injury report after logging three straight full listings, but he hasn't progressed enough in the concussion protocol to make his first appearance since Week 9. With Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest) also questionable for Sunday's contest, Kevin Austin, Dante Pettis, Cedrick Wilson and Mason Tipton are the healthy wide receivers on New Orleans' active roster. Olave will need to be activated from injured reserve in order to have a chance to play Week 18 at Tampa Bay.
Dec 27, 2024
Questionable, still on IR
Olave (concussion), who remains on injured reserve, is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest versus the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
After the Saints designated Olave for return from injured reserve last week, he logged three consecutive limited listings before the team ruled him out for Monday's game at Green Bay. This time around, he's managed three straight full listings, giving him a chance to play for the first time since suffering a concussion Week 9 in Carolina. New Orleans will need to activate Olave from IR by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday in order for the wide receiver to get back on the active roster and potentially be available to the offense one day later.
Dec 26, 2024
Full practice Thursday
Olave (concussion) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Olave now has been listed as full on back-to-back injury reports, which has left the wide receiver "day-to-day," as interim coach Darren Rizzi told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Thursday. Sidelined since suffering a concussion Week 9 at Carolina, Olave seemingly has a good chance to return to action Sunday against the Raiders. However, the Saints still have one practice report to post this week, and how he's listed there may reveal his odds to be activated from injured reserve by Saturday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline to do so.
Dec 25, 2024
Listed as full Wednesday
Olave (concussion) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
After the Saints designated Olave for return from injured reserve last week, he managed three limited sessions before the team ruled him out for Monday's game at Green Bay. He wouldn't have had any restrictions if New Orleans had practiced Wednesday, so he appears as if he's closing in his required meeting with an independent neurologist. Olave will need to be activated from IR by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in order for him to have a chance to play Sunday versus the Raiders.
Dec 21, 2024
Won't return in Week 16
Olave (concussion) has been ruled out for Monday's contest at Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
The Saints designated Olave to return from injured reserve Thursday, which he followed up with three consecutive limited practices during Week 16 prep. Without a full session under his belt, he has yet to make his way through the concussion protocol and thus will miss a sixth straight game. Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest/illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game, which leaves Kevin Austin, Dante Pettis, Cedrick Wilson and Mason Tipton as the healthy wide receivers on New Orleans' active roster.
Dec 20, 2024
Limited in practice again
Olave (concussion) was a limited practice participant Friday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant, with Saints coach Darren Rizzi telling reporters that the wideout "got some great news" but is "probably doubtful" to play in Monday's game at Green Bay. The Saints haven't ruled Olave out, however, and it sounds like he may return Week 17 or 18 if he isn't back Monday night.
Dec 19, 2024
Designated to return
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said that Olave's (concussion) 21-day window in which to return from injured reserve has been opened, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports. Olave officially was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Rizzi also told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune that Olave "got some great news. He went for a recheck like we talked about. He was cleared for football activities." Olave has been sidelined since suffering a concussion Week 9 at Carolina, missing the Saints' past five games in the process. His odds to play Monday at Green Bay aren't known, but he at least has a chance to be available for New Orleans' upcoming Week 16 matchup.
Dec 11, 2024
Unlikely to play this week
Saints coach Darren Rizzi said Olave (concussion) isn't likely to play this week but still has "all options on the table", Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
In other words, the Saints aren't shutting Olave down for the season, at least not yet, although he's unlikely to play this Sunday when first eligible to return from injured reserve. While it won't come as any surprise if he ends up missing the rest of the season, there's apparently still some chance he takes the field again.
Dec 5, 2024
Will visit specialist next week
Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Wednesday that Olave (concussion) will meet with a specialist next week before the team provides an update on his status, Jacob Camenker of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was placed on injured reserve Nov. 9, just under a week after he sustained his second concussion of the season and his fourth documented concussion in just over four calendar years. According to Rizzi, Olave is in "great spirits" and has been feeling well enough to attend Saints practices, but the coach wouldn't commit to the receiver returning to practice Week 15, when New Orleans is first able to open his 21-day evaluation window. The Saints will have a better idea regarding Olave's chances of playing in their final four games once he visits the specialist, but given the receiver's history of concussions as well as the 4-8 Saints' place in the standings, it wouldn't be surprising if he was shut down for the season.
Nov 9, 2024
Shifts to injured reserve
Olave (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After suffering his second concussion in a month, and third concussion in a calendar year, this was expected. The star target will be out at least until mid-December, at which point it's possible the team may decide whether it's worth bringing back Olave altogether given New Orleans likely won't be in the playoff hunt. Expect more information regarding his playing status to come later in November.
Nov 9, 2024
Expected to land on IR
Olave (concussion) is expected to be placed on injured reserve, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave has already been ruled for Sunday's game against the Falcons, with Rapoport indicating that the anticipated move is expected to occur Saturday. In that scenario, Olave, who sustained his second concussion of the season during Week 9 action against the Panthers, would be in line to miss at least the Saints' next four games. With Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) also out this week, Mason Tipton, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jermaine Jackson are the available wide receivers currently on New Orleans' active roster.
Nov 8, 2024
Ruled out for Week 10
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Friday that Olave (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Falcons, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rizzi also added that a stint on injured reserve is "on the table" for Olave as the wide receiver meets with specialists to determine the best course of action after suffering a concussion this past Sunday at Carolina that resulted in a visit to the hospital. The Saints have a Week 12 bye on the schedule, so it likely would behoove them to make an IR decision this week with the four-game caveat in mind. With Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) also ruled out for Week 10, Mason Tipton, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jermaine Jackson are the healthy wide receivers on the Saints' active roster.
Nov 6, 2024
Meeting with specialists
Saints coach Darren Rizzi said Wednesday that Olave (concussion) is meeting with specialists and no decision has been made on an injured reserve stint, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Rizzi subtly acknowledged the possibility of an extended absence, after Olave suffered his second concussion of the season (and fourth of his NFL career) during Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Panthers. Olave didn't practice Wednesday and is highly unlikely to play this Sunday against the Falcons.
Nov 6, 2024
No practice Wednesday
Olave (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was on the receiving end of a big hit this past Sunday at Carolina that required a cart to get off the field and a subsequent visit to a hospital. He was diagnosed with a concussion, leaving him subject to the protocol for head injuries before he'll be able to return to action. In the short term, Olave merely getting back on the practice field will be a positive first step in his recovery.
Nov 3, 2024
Out of hospital
Olave has been discharged from a Charlotte, N.C. hospital and will return to New Orleans with his teammates following Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave needed a cart to get off the field following a big hit in the middle of the first quarter. Diagnosed with a concussion not long after, he'll be subject to the protocol for head injuries in order to suit up again. The Saints play next Sunday versus the Falcons.
Nov 3, 2024
Sustains concussion Sunday
Olave will not return to Sunday's game against the Panthers after sustaining a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Olave was carted off the field Sunday after taking a hard hit. Per a statement released by the team, the wideout has movement in all extremities and is undergoing further evaluation at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
Nov 3, 2024
Carted off field Sunday
Olave (undisclosed) was carted off the field during Sunday's game at Carolina, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In the middle of the first quarter, Olave was on the receiving end of a pass from QB Derek Carr and was sandwiched between two Panthers defenders. Olave then remained motionless on the turf and was tended to by the Saints' medical and training staffs.
Oct 27, 2024
Logs 107 yards in return
Olave had eight receptions (on 14 targets) for 107 yards during Sunday's 26-8 defeat to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Olave eclipsed 100 receiving yards for the first time this season. He also logged a season-high in targets and matched his season-high for receptions. This all in a game in which Olave temporarily exited for a concussion check and rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler was benched for second-year signal-caller Jake Haener midway through the third quarter. With No. 2 wideout Rashid Shaheed now out for the season with a meniscus injury, it's likely that Olave could continue to see an increase in targets moving forward. He'll hope to have another productive outing with QB1 Derek Carr (oblique) expected to return for next week's game versus the Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Oct 25, 2024
Clears concussion protocol
Olave cleared concussion protocol and will be available for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave already looked on track to be available this weekend after turning in a full practice Thursday, but Terrell's report confirms that the wideout has now received clearance from an independent neurologist, the final stage of the five-step protocol. After sitting out last week's loss to Broncos, Olave should be ready to reprise his usual duties as the Saints' No. 1 wideouts, though he'll be on the receiving end of passes from rookie Spencer Rattler rather than Derek Carr (oblique), who is expected to miss a third straight start. Olave suited up in Rattler's first NFL start back in Week 6, but the former played just two snaps before exiting with the concussion.
Oct 24, 2024
Full practice Thursday
Olave (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave sustained a concussion Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Buccaneers and sat out last Thursday's loss versus the Broncos, but he's made quick work this week by following up Wednesday's limited session with all activity one day later. It's unclear if he's made his way through the protocol for head injuries, but he'll need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to return to action Sunday at the Chargers.
Oct 23, 2024
Officially limited in return to practice
Olave (concussion) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Making his first appearance on the field since suffering a concussion Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Buccaneers, Olave was operating with a cap on his reps, indicating he still has a few hurdles to get past in the protocol for head injuries, including clearance from an independent neurologist. His activity level Thursday and Friday may be telling for his chances to return to action Sunday at the Chargers.
Oct 23, 2024
Back at practice Wednesday
Olave (concussion) was present at practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Assuming he took part in some drills, it'd mark Olave's first visible on-field work since sustaining a concussion Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Buccaneers. The Saints have lost fellow WR Rashid Shaheed for the season due to meniscus surgery, and QB Derek Carr continues to be sidelined with an oblique issue, so getting Olave back will be key for the team's passing game. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much work Olave was able to handle.
Oct 21, 2024
Remains in concussion protocol
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Olave remains in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was unable to suit up last Thursday versus Denver, and he'll still need to gain full clearance -- including from an independent neurologist -- in order to be eligible to play Sunday versus the Chargers. With Rashid Shaheed (knee) having undergone season-ending knee surgery and the availability of quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) still uncertain for Week 8, it would provide a key boost for New Orleans' offense if Olave managed to gain clearance in time to play in Los Angeles. Mason Tipton, Cedrick Wilson and Bub Means will otherwise be in line to lead the Saints' wide receiver room.
Oct 16, 2024
Won't play Thursday
Coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that Olave (concussion) won't play in Thursday's game against the Broncos, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of suffering a concussion this past Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Olave wasn't able to practice this week, indicating he's made little to no progress through the protocol for head injuries. With Olave and Rashid Shaheed's (knee) sidelined for Week 7 action, the Saints will be particularly short-handed at wide receiver Thursday. Mason Tipton, Cedrick Wilson (ankle) and Bub Means are the options on the active roster, while Equanimeous St. Brown, Kevin Austin, Dante Pettis and Jermaine Jackson are candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.
Oct 15, 2024
Not practicing Tuesday
Olave (concussion) isn't participating in Tuesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave hasn't made any notable progress through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol since exiting Sunday's 51-27 loss to the Buccaneers with the head injury. According to Rod Walker of The New Orleans Times-Picayune, Olave has sustained four documented concussions during his football career dating back to his time in college, and one in each of his first three seasons with the Saints. Given his history, Olave looks unlikely to be available for Thursday's game against the Broncos, and his availability for Week 8 against the Chargers wouldn't seem to be guaranteed, either.
Oct 14, 2024
Non-participant on estimated report
Olave (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report.
ANALYSIS
Olave made an early exit from Sunday's 51-27 loss to the Buccaneers and eventually was diagnosed with a concussion, so his projected lack of activity one day later isn't a shock. With a Thursday night matchup with the Broncos on tap, he's unlikely to gain clearance from the protocol for head injuries in order to suit up for that contest, something that should be confirmed in advance. Fellow WR Rashid Shaheed (knee) also was a non-participant on Monday's report, meaning the Saints' receiving corps is especially banged-up at the moment.
Oct 13, 2024
Suffers concussion Sunday
Olave won't return to Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Olave hauled in a pass from QB Spencer Rattler in the first quarter, after which he took a hit to his upper body. The ball was knocked out of Olave's hands as he was pulled to the turf, and Bucs safety Antoine Winfield picked it up and took it to the house for a defensive touchdown. After making his way to the sideline, Olave visited the medical tent and then went to the locker room for a concussion check, which eventually was confirmed. With a short week on tap for a matchup with Broncos on Thursday Night Football, he'll be hard-pressed to be available Week 7.
Oct 7, 2024
Struggles in tough matchup
Olave was held to two receptions off of four targets for 10 yards in Monday's 26-13 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
The premier slot receiver struggled against the Chiefs' premier slot corner Trent McDuffie. Olave finished with his worst fantasy outing since Week 1 despite receiving two extra targets. The 2022 first-round pick provided at least 80 receiving yards in his previous three contests, so fantasy managers shouldn't be down on the Ohio State product ahead of a Week 6 tilt against Tampa Bay.
Sep 29, 2024
Big volume in Week 4 loss
Olave caught eight of 10 targets for 87 yards in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout posted nearly identical numbers through the air to Rashid Shaheed (8-83-0 on 11 targets), but no one Saints wideout or tight end managed more than 13 receiving yards. Olave has topped 80 yards in three straight games, showing impressive consistency as one of Derek Carr's top downfield options. but Sunday's catches and targets were both season highs for him. Olave may need to be productive again in Week 5 against Kansas City.
Sep 29, 2024
Suiting up Sunday
Olave (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Olave suffered a hamstring injury at Friday's practice, going down as a limited participant and earning a questionable tag for Week 4. While insiders like Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported this weekend that the wide receiver was expected to suit up Sunday, Olave's status ultimately came down to a pregame warmup, when he was seen donning a sleeve on his right leg, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com. Now that Olave is confirmed to be available, he'll look to keep his recent momentum going after combining for a 10-167-1 line on 12 targets the last two contests.
Sep 29, 2024
Optimism regarding Sunday status
Olave (hamstring) is slated to test things out in warmups, but Adam Schefter of ESPN relays that the Saints are "confident" the wideout will be able to face the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Olave -- who is officially listed as questionable -- was added to the Saints' Week 4 injury report after suffering a hamstring injury during Friday's practice. However, it appears as though he's trending toward being available for Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, barring any pre-game setbacks.
Sep 29, 2024
Expected to play
Olave (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus Atlanta, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was previously reported to be a game-time decision as he works his way through a hamstring injury he suffered at practice Friday. He now appears to be set to play, but his status will likely be made official following the team's warmups prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff against the Falcons.
Sep 28, 2024
Considered game-time decision
Olave (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, is considered a game-time decision, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In the same report, Fowler does say there's some optimism Olave will be able to play, but it'll depend on what happens presumably during a pre-game warm-up. In any case, expect more information regarding Olave's status to come well before the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Sep 27, 2024
Considered day-to-day, deemed questionable
Olave (hamstring) is considered day-to-day and listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Atlanta, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was a late addition to the Week 4 injury report after hurting his hamstring during Friday's practice. The Saints have every incentive to relay uncertainty regardless of the reality, which means fantasy managers need to treat this as a potential game-time decision heading into the weekend. The only good news is that the Saints and Falcons have an early kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET, leaving plenty of alternatives at wide receiver if Olave ultimately is deemed inactive. Fellow Saints WR A.T. Perry (hamstring) has been ruled out, and Cedrick Wilson (ankle) is questionable after missing practice Friday. The healthy WRs on the roster are third-year pro Rashid Shaheed and rookies Bub Means and Mason Tipton.
Sep 27, 2024
Injured during Friday's practice
Olave suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Details on the severity aren't yet available, but even a relatively minor injury could be a big deal just two days before the Saints face the Falcons. New Orleans is already down two starting offensive linemen and star linebacker Demario Davis (hamstring).
Sep 22, 2024
Catches six passes in Sunday's loss
Olave gathered in all six targets for 86 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 15-12 loss against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Olave had to carry the Saints' passing game after looking like somewhat of an afterthought in the first two games. He got started early with three catches on the opening possesion of the game, and he came up big on the Saints' lone touchdown drive, catching a 29-yard pass that helped set up his wide-open 13-yard touchdown reception just four plays later. He and running back Alvin Kamara also combined for nine of quarterback Derek Carr's 14 completions Sunday. The Saints' offense rolled to blowout wins when Carr spread the ball around to the team's top group of pass-catchers, which includes Olave, Kamara, wideout Rashid Shaheed and tight end Taysom Hill. Shaheed was a non-factor with zero catches on five targets Week 3, and Hill was sidelined with a bruised lung. This group will look to get back on track during next Sunday's road matchup versus Atlanta.
Sep 15, 2024
Four grabs in Sunday's rout
Olave caught four of six targets for 81 yards in Sunday's 44-19 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
He added seven yards on one carry. Olave was more involved in the Saints' passing game that he had been in the team's opener, leading New Orleans in targets Sunday, but he didn't have much to do in the second half after helping build a 35-16 lead heading into intermission. Olave has taken a back seat to Rashid Shaheed so far in 2024, but he could break out against a mostly inexperienced Eagles secondary in Week 3.
Sep 8, 2024
Quiet in Sunday's rout
Olave caught both his targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 47-10 rout of the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout's numbers were a significant disappointment considering the final score, but Derek Carr's three first-half touchdowns went to Rashid Shaheed, Foster Moreau (head) and Juwan Johnson, and the Saints didn't need to pass the ball in the second half with a massive lead. The overall performance of the Saints' offense was still encouraging for Olave's numbers in the long run, and he should still be locked in as the team's top receiver. Olave will likely be a much bigger part of the game plan in Week 2 against the Cowboys.
Aug 19, 2024
Records three receptions Sunday
Olave had three receptions (on four targets) for 26 yards in Sunday's exhibition loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
The Saints' No. 1 wideout looked the part in a brief appearance with the rest of the starters. Olave figures to be the focal part of the Saints' passing game with Michael Thomas departing New Orleans after eight seasons with the club. Derek Carr looked for his top target early and often before the starters departed Sunday. Olave will be shooting for his third 1,000-yard season in as many years since becoming a pro.
Aug 11, 2024
One catch to open preseason
Olave secured one of four targets for 10 yards in the Saints' 16-14 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Olave was the target on Derek Carr's first three pass attempts on the opening possession, logging his one catch on the second one. The talented third-year wideout, who produced a career-best 87-1,123-5 line across 16 regular-season games in 2023, is in line to serve as Carr's top receiver once again in the coming season and lost proven competition for targets when Michael Thomas (knee) was released this offseason.

Returns to practice
Olave practiced Wednesday after exiting early Tuesday with an apparent hip injury, nola.com's Matthew Paras reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like more of a bump/bruise than a real injury, with Olave back on the practice field less than 24 hours later. He's locked in as the No. 1 receiver for QB Derek Carr and new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Volume shouldn't be an issue, as Olave and RB Alvin Kamara are the only players on the Saints roster that have ever drawn more than 75 targets in an NFL season.
Jul 30, 2024
Exits practice with hip injury
Olave left Tuesday's practice with an apparent hip injury, Jeff Nowak of WWL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave didn't return to practice afterward, which doesn't mean much given that his injury occurred at the end of the session. He's locked in as the top receiving in New Orleans, where growth for the passing game depends not only on Olave's development but also a better/healthier season from QB Derek Carr and potential scheme improvement under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Olave and RB Alvin Kamara are the only players on the roster that have drawn more than 75 targets in an NFL season.

No limitations at practice
Olave (shoulder) participated in Day 1 of Saints training camp Wednesday without limitations, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave's participation in practice means that he's passed his physical and come off the active/non-football injury list, while his lack of limitations is an indication that he's fully over the shoulder issue that forced him to don a non-contact jersey during spring activities. The featured wideout will work to solidify his chemistry with Derek Carr throughout training camp, with the hope of making a true Year 3 leap as New Orleans' clear top offensive weapon. A healthier season from Carr could be all Olave needs to upgrade his production in new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme.
Jul 23, 2024
To practice Wednesday
Coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that Olave (shoulder), who was placed on the active/non-football injury list last week, will practice in part Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave looks set to come off the NFI list Wednesday, so it looks like he's nearly recovered from the shoulder injury that forced him to wear a non-contact jersey earlier this spring. The Saints are likely taking a cautious approach to the third-year wideout's recovery, given his status as a lynchpin of the receiving game. Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara reported to training camp Tuesday and is also expected to practice Wednesday, despite being disgruntled by his lack of a long-term deal with New Orleans.
Jul 18, 2024
Placed on NFI list by New Orleans
The Saints placed Olave (shoulder) on the active/non-football injury list Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury sustained while weight training this offseason, and for which he spent OTAs in a non-contact jersey. While the issue seems minor, and Olave will be able to come off the NFI list at any point in training camp once cleared, his status will be worth monitoring. The 2022 first-round pick has just over three weeks to get healthy ahead of New Orleans' preseason opener against the Cardinals. OIave is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons to begin his NFL career and is positioned nicely as a potential third-year breakout candidate, especially as the clear No. 1 target in a wide receiver room that also includes Rashid Shaheed, Cedrick Wilson and A.T. Perry, but that's assuming he's indeed able to return to full health without missing much time.
Jun 5, 2024
Dealing with minor shoulder injury
Olave injured his shoulder in the weight room a few weeks ago and has been wearing a no-contact jersey at practice, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
It's seemingly a minor injury, considering Olave has been a full practice participant while wearing the red, no-contact jersey. He should be fine for the start of training camp in late July, at which point he'll be the clear centerpiece of the Saints' passing game under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
May 5, 2024
Set as WR1 in Big Easy
Olave is in line to once again serve as the focal point of New Orleans' passing attack after the team added just one wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Bub Means at No. 170 overall.
ANALYSIS
Olave is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career. The 2022 first-round pick has provided much-needed juice to an otherwise stale Saints offense. In fact, he's the only receiver to put up more than 720 yards in either of the past two seasons, as the team relied largely on aging veterans like Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry to buoy the passing game. New Orleans then moved on from both players this offseason by cutting Thomas in March and letting Landry walk in free agency. Meanwhile, the team went cheap with its additions at the position, signing free agents Cedrick Wilson and Equanimeous St. Brown and waiting until the fifth round to draft Means. As a result, the Saints will more than likely enter the 2024 season with three pass-catchers who have recorded more than 500 yards in a single season - Olave, No.2 wide receiver Rashid Shaheed and tight end Juwan Johnson. 2023 sixth-round pick A.T. Perry will likely round out this receiving room, which Olave should clearly lead once again in 20

Finishes campaign with TD
Olave secured all three targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 48-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Olave finished tied with multiple teammates for second in receptions and was also the runner-up in receiving yards. The second-year wideout also recorded his fifth touchdown of the season on an impressive contested, leaping 26-yard grab early in the third quarter, putting a solid cap on a productive sophomore campaign. Sunday's production pushed Olave's final 2023 line to 87-1,123-5 across 16 games, with all three totals eclipsing his rookie-season tallies a year ago.
Jan 5, 2024
Ready for Week 18 matchup
Olave (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave now will play a third straight game since missing Week 15 with an ankle injury. He lit up the Rams for 129 yards the following game but then slumped to 3-26-0 (six targets) Week 17 in a 23-13 win over Tampa Bay. Olave was a full practice participant Friday and shouldn't have any limitations Sunday as the Saints battle for a playoff spot.
Jan 4, 2024
Remains limited Thursday
Olave (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
As he did a week ago, Olave has kicked off Week 18 prep with back-to-back capped sessions due to a lingering ankle injury. He maintained that activity level last Friday before entering the weekend without a designation for this past Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, so he appears to be trending in the same direction this time around. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will unveil if that's the case for Olave ahead of Sunday's contest against the Falcons.
Jan 3, 2024
Remains limited by ankle injury
Olave (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Since sitting out Week 15 due to an ankle injury, Olave has had mixed results on game days, going for 9-123-0 on 13 targets Week 16 at the Rams and 3-26-0 on six targets this past Sunday in Tampa Bay. His practice restrictions this week likely are precautionary, but his status nonetheless should be monitored to ensure he'll be out there Sunday against the Falcons, who he took for seven catches (on nine targets) for 119 yards back in Week 12.
Jan 1, 2024
Surprisingly quiet in win
Olave secured three of six targets for 26 yards in the Saints' 23-13 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Olave came into the game with elevated expectations considering the Buccaneers' defense had struggled against the pass most of the season and was missing Carlton Davis (concussion), but the talented wideout took a back seat to tight end Juwan Johnson. Olave's reception and receiving yardage totals were both his lowest since Week 5, but he'll look to bounce back when the Saints host the Falcons in a key Week 18 divisional clash.
Dec 29, 2023
Good to go
Olave (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, given that Olave returned for a Week 16 loss to the Rams and caught nine of 13 targets for 123 yards (plus a two-point conversion) just four days after missing a Week 15 win over the Giants. He could even pick up a few more snaps/routes than usual this week with the Saints fighting to stick around in the NFC playoff hunt. Olave's limited participation in Week 17 practices mostly appears borne out of caution.
Dec 28, 2023
Remains limited at practice
Olave (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave sat out Week 15 due to an ankle injury, but after logging a limited walkthrough last Tuesday and a full walkthrough one day later, he was cleared to play last Thursday at the Rams. He proceeded to earn 75 percent of the offensive snaps en route to his third 100-yard game in his last four appearances. During this hot streak, he's compiled a 25-384-1 line on 35 targets. Having said that, Olave may enter this weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Tampa Bay if he's unable to log an uncapped session Friday.
Dec 27, 2023
Limited by ankle injury
Olave (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports
ANALYSIS
The ankle injury cost Olave a week, but he made it back for last Thursday's loss to the Rams and caught nine passes for 123 yards plus a two-point conversion. He should be fine for Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay -- a game the Saints need to win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Dec 21, 2023
Standout effort in return
Olave (ankle) brought in nine of 13 targets for 123 yards in the Saints' 30-22 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The star wideout was able to make a conspicuous return from a one-game absence, leading the Saints in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Olave came out of the gate hot, as he was on the receiving end of Derek Carr's first three passes of the night and parlayed the trio of targets into 36 yards. The second-year pro has now exceeded the 100-yard mark in three of the past four games, and he'll undoubtedly play a large role again when New Orleans visits the Buccaneers for a key Week 17 road matchup on New Year's Eve.
Dec 20, 2023
Ready for Week 16
Olave (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game at the Rams, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
On Wednesday, coach Dennis Allen relayed that Olave is "good to go" for Week 16, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com. Olave wasn't able to practice at all last week before he was deemed inactive for this past Sunday's game against the Saints, but his ability to log a limited walkthrough Tuesday and a full version one day later paved the way for him to be available this week. He'll thus be facing the Rams' 21st-ranked pass defense (226.1 yards per game) Thursday.
Dec 20, 2023
Expected to play
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that Olave (ankle) will play in Thursday's game at the Rams, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints listed Olave as a limited participant Tuesday after a walkthrough, hinting at some level of progress after he missed practice last week and was inactive for a 24-6 win over the Giants on Sunday. Allen said Olave will play Thursday night, though the coach didn't specify whether or not the wideout will be listed with a game designation on the final injury report Thursday afternoon.
Dec 19, 2023
Logs limited walkthrough Tuesday
Olave (ankle) was listed as limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
After failing to practice in any capacity last week and kicking off this week as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Olave was able to take part in Tuesday's walkthrough, albeit with a cap on his reps. It's the first positive sign for Olave's status since he showed up on the Saints' Week 15 injury report last Wednesday, and he'll have one more chance to prove his health before the team potentially makes a ruling on his availability for Thursday's game at the Rams. Currently, Rashid Shaheed, Lynn Bowden, A.T. Perry and Keith Kirkwood are the healthy wide receivers on New Orleans' active roster.
Dec 18, 2023
Not ready to practice Monday
Olave (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans didn't practice Monday, but Olave wouldn't have been available if the team took the practice field. He didn't practice in any capacity before sitting out this past Sunday's 24-6 win over the Giants, and Olave doesn't have much additional recovery time for his ankle before Thursday's pivotal matchup with the Rams.
Dec 17, 2023
Inactive in Week 15
Olave (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Olave was able to play through an illness last Sunday against the Panthers, but an ankle injury kept him off the practice field Wednesday through Friday and left his availability for Week 15 up to a pregame workout, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. With the Saints confirming his inactive status Sunday, Olave will miss his first game of the campaign and third outing in his two years as a pro. In Olave's place, New Orleans will roll with Rashid Shaheed, Lynn Bowden, A.T. Perry, Keith Kirkwood and Marquez Callaway at wide receiver.
Dec 17, 2023
Iffy for Sunday's game
While the Saints plan to see how Olave's ankle feels during pre-game warmups, Adam Schefter of ESPN relays that one source indicated there is "doubt" that the wideout will play Sunday against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Olave was listed as a non-participant in practice this week and approached the contest officially listed as questionable. At this stage, his Week 15 status is cloudy, but fortunately for those considering Olave in fantasy lineups, the Saints kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Dec 17, 2023
True game-time decision
Olave (ankle) will have his status for Sunday's game against the Giants determined during pre-game warmups, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave failed to practice in any capacity this week after seemingly picking up the ankle issue in the Saints' Week 14 win over the Panthers. His participation doesn't provide much reason for optimism, but Olave has proven capable of playing at less than 100 percent in the past. His status will become official shortly before the team's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff against the Giants.
Dec 15, 2023
Questionable for Sunday's contest
Olave (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints held Olave out of practice both Wednesday and Thursday due to an ankle injury, and coach Dennis Allen said Friday that the wide receiver's availability for Week 15 will go "right to the wire" ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Olave has either surpassed 100 receiving yards or recorded a touchdown in the past five games, so his status is key for New Orleans offense.
Dec 14, 2023
Remains absent from practice
Olave (ankle) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave had been questionable heading into this past weekend's game against the Panthers while battling the flu and was limited to four catches for 28 yards and a touchdown on five targets in the Saints' 28-6 win, but the second-year wideout is tending to a new issue during Week 15. He's now been a spectator for both of the team's first two practices of the week, clouding his availability for this Sunday's game against the Giants for the time being. Olave will likely need to return to practice Friday as a full participate to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.
Dec 13, 2023
Tending to ankle issue
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Olave didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite coming down with an illness last Thursday, Olave was able to play through the ailment this past Sunday versus the Panthers, albeit at less than 100 percent. His snap share (65 percent) fell well short of the 80-plus percent that he handled in six of the first 10 games of the campaign, and he managed four catches (on five targets) for 28 yards, salvaging his day with his fourth touchdown of the season. With a new health concern in tow, Olave's status will be monitored as the week goes on to get a sense of his potential to suit up (or not) Sunday against the Giants.
Dec 10, 2023
Scores fourth touchdown of season
Olave gathered in four of five targets for 28 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 28-6 win versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave entered the weekend with an illness that had been afflicting since Thursday, and he seemingly played at less than 100 percent Sunday. The same can be said for quarterback Derek Carr, who noted afterward the he's "up to three rib fractures" through Week 14, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com. With Rashid Shaheed (thigh) and Taysom Hill (hand/foot) inactive, Olave matched running back Alvin Kamara for the team lead in targets with five, and the wideout turned one of them into his fourth TD of the campaign. Unfortunately for Olave, his streak with at least eight targets per game was snapped at seven. He'll now set his sights on the Giants' 20th-ranked pass defense next Sunday.

Suiting up Sunday
Olave (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave came down with an illness Thursday that sidelined him for the remainder of Week 14 prep. He entered the weekend as questionable, and while there was an expectation that the second-year pro would be able to play Sunday, he won't be operating at 100 percent, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Olave's prospects may not be impacted too much, though, as Rashid Shaheed (thigh) and Taysom Hill (foot/hand) won't be available to the Saints offense. As a result, Olave is a good bet to receive at least eight targets for an eighth consecutive contest.
Dec 10, 2023
Remains ill but is likely to play
Olave is still under the weather but is expected to suit up for Sunday's Week 14 game against Carolina, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if the illness will impact Olave's snap count or ability to perform to his usual standard Sunday, but he's likely to give it a go against the Panthers. The wideout has been dealing with the flu and was not able to practice Thursday or Friday, resulting in him entering the weekend with a questionable tag. Olave will be looking for targets from Derek Carr on Sunday, as the quarterback was able to clear concussion protocol and gain clearance to play Week 14 after exiting early during last weeks' loss to the Lions.
Dec 8, 2023
Expected to play
Olave (illness) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Panthers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
The revelation that Olave has the flu cast some doubt upon his availability, and while he's listed as questionable after missing back-to-back practices, he apparently felt decent enough Friday afternoon to meet with the Saints' medical staff. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the situation all the same, with national reporters like Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport likely to provide additional updates over the weekend.
Dec 8, 2023
Listed as questionable
Olave (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave missed practice Thursday and Friday and has been staying away from team headquarters to avoid spreading the flu. Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports that Olave will meet with team doctors Friday evening, at which point the Saints may have a better idea bout his availability of potential limitations for Sunday's game, though they won't necessarily make the information public. Fantasy managers will need to treat the wide receiver as a potential game-time decision ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, and it's possible his workload and/or effectiveness are impacted for the worse even if he's active. It's also not entirely clear who Olave would be catching passes from, as Derek Carr (concussion/shoulder/rib) also is listed as questionable and still needs to clear the final step of concussion protocol in order to play.
Dec 8, 2023
Misses practice again with flu
Olave (illness) is dealing with the flu, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Olave missed a second straight practice Friday after being added to the injury report Thursday. Players typically don't miss games due to illnesses, but seasonal flu can do the trick due to the extent of fatigue and muscle/joint pain that often accompany it. Multiple missed games would be surprising, but for now it seems Olave is in genuine danger of sitting out Sunday's matchup with the Panthers.
Dec 7, 2023
Misses practice with illness
Olave was sidelined for practice Thursday due to an illness, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
After sustaining a concussion in the Saints' Week 12 loss to the Falcons, Olave was able to quickly clear the five-step protocol and suited up in this past Sunday's loss to the Lions, logging a 61 percent snap share while finishing with five catches for 119 yards on eight targets. Olave wasn't included on the Saints' initial Week 14 injury report, and while he seems to have avoided any setbacks in his recovery from the concussion following his return to action this past weekend, he's now apparently under the weather. Assuming Olave is able to get back on the practice field Friday, he should be cleared to play Sunday against the Panthers while serving as the No. 1 option in the passing game for either Derek Carr (concussion/rib/shoulder) or Jameis Winston.
Dec 3, 2023
Clears century mark in loss
Olave brought in five of eight targets for 119 yards in the Saints' 33-28 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Olave was able to make an accelerated recovery from the concussion that forced an early Week 12 exit, and he finished with a team-high yardage total by a wide margin while tying for the lead in targets as well. The speedster didn't seem to show any ill effects from the head injury, and he's now recorded at least 94 receiving yards in three straight games while eclipsing the 100-yard mark in back-to-back contests for the first time on the campaign. Olave will next do battle against the Panthers' typically stingy pass defense in a Week 14 divisional clash.
Dec 3, 2023
Suiting up in Week 13
Olave (concussion) is listed as active Sunday against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Olave entered the concussion protocol last Sunday in Atlanta in the third quarter, but not before notching seven catches (on nine targets) for 114 yards. He proceeded to take part in all three Week 13 practices, including a full session Friday, but he closed the week still needing to gain clearance from an independent neurologist. Coach Dennis Allen told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune at the time that "there's a chance" that Olave would do so ahead of Sunday's contest, and Adam Schefter of ESPN and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network eventually reported the wide receiver was in line to suit up. Indeed, that has come to pass, and Olave now will serve as the clear-cut top pass catcher for quarterback Derek Carr versus a Detroit defense that has given up the fourth-most touchdowns (14) to opposing wide receivers in 11 games this season.
Dec 3, 2023
Expected to face Lions
Olave (concussion) is expected to suit up Sunday versus Detroit, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave is officially listed as questionable for Week 13, but he's expected to fully clear the NFL's concussion protocol and take the field. Official word on Olave's status will arrive at least 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. The Saints are already set to be without Rashid Shaheed (thigh), and Michael Thomas (knee) remains on IR, so Olave's availability will be crucial for this passing game.
Dec 3, 2023
Should be good to go Sunday
Olave (concussion) is expected to be suit up for Sunday's game against Detroit, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave sustained a concussion during last week's loss to the Falcsons, and he has not officially cleared the league's protocol for head injuries. However, he was able to participate in full during Friday's practice, and it appears he should be ready to go in time for Sunday's 1:00 pm kickoff versus the Lions. With Rashid Shaheed (thight) already ruled out and Michael Thomas (knee) on IR, Olave's presence would provide a significant upgrade at wideout ahead of A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood.
Dec 1, 2023
Status in question for Sunday
Olave (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Lions, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering he suffered a concussion this past Sunday in Atlanta, Olave understandably had practice restrictions Wednesday and Thursday, but a full showing Friday seemingly has him on course to be available this weekend. Still, his questionable designation indicates he has yet to get through the protocol for head injuries, which coach Dennis Allen confirmed when he told Paras on Friday that "there's a chance that he could clear it." The only obstacle now is an evaluation with an independent neurologist, with a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff on tap Sunday.
Dec 1, 2023
Still in concussion protocol
Coach Dennis Allen said Olave remains in the concussion protocol as of Friday, but "there's a chance that he could clear it" ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave has one step to pass before he'll gain clearance for game action, but it's the all-important evaluation from an independent neurologist. On a positive note, he's been able to practice all week, so he seems to be trending in a positive direction ahead of the weekend. Fellow wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (groin) hasn't mixed into drills at all this week, so the Saints' current healthy options at wide receiver on the active roster are A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood.
Nov 30, 2023
Another limited practice
Olave (concussion) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave maintained his activity level from one day prior as he attempts to make his way through the concussion protocol. Considering he suffered the head injury this past Sunday in Atlanta, his ability to log some on-field work in back-to-back sessions generally is a positive sign that he may be able to play Week 13. Having said that, Olave ultimately will be subject to an evaluation from an independent neurologist in order to receive clearance to play Sunday against the Lions.
Nov 29, 2023
Limited in practice
Olave (concussion) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
His participation in the first practice of the week suggests Olave has at least some chance to join the small group of players that have suited up the week after entering concussion protocol. He caught seven passes for 114 yards during Sunday's loss to the Falcons before exiting early in the third quarter with a brain injury. The Saints already were playing without WRs Michael Thomas (knee - IR) and Rashid Shaheed (groin), the latter of whom was injured during the second quarter and then missed practice Wednesday. They finished out the game with A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood as the top three WRs.
Nov 29, 2023
Practices Wednesday
Olave (concussion) took part in individual drills at Wednesday's practice, Brooke Kirkhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave departed this past Sunday's loss in Atlanta with a concussion, but prior to the injury he was running roughshod through the Falcons defense to the tune of seven catches (on nine targets) for 114 yards, the latter of which marked a season high. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much work Olave was able to handle.
Nov 26, 2023
Ruled out with concussion
Olave sustained a concussion in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons and has been ruled out for the rest of the contest, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was on his way to a big day before departing with the concussion, as he racked up seven catches for 114 yards on nine targets. With Michael Thomas (knee) having been placed on injured reserve prior to the contest and Rasheed Shaheed (thigh) uncertain to return to the game, the Saints are left with A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood as their healthy receivers. Olave will now work to clear the five-step concussion protocol ahead of the Saints' Week 13 game against the Lions on Dec. 3.
Nov 12, 2023
Highlight-reel touchdown catch
Olave recorded six receptions on nine targets for 94 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Olave wasn't targeted in the first half but came alive in the final two quarters, particularly with Jameis Winston under center. Five of his six catches came on targets from Winston, including long gains of 26, 20 and 17 yards. However, the highlight of Olave's performance came midway through the third quarter when he out-jumped Byron Murphy and tapped his toes in the corner of the end zone to record his third touchdown of the season. His 94 yards also marked his highest total in a game since Week 6.
Nov 5, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 9 win
Olave caught six of eight targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Olave scored from eight yards out to tie the score at a touchdown apiece in the first quarter. In addition to catching his second touchdown of 2023, Olave finished with team-high totals in targets, catches and receiving yards while teammate Michael Thomas went without a catch on just one target. Heading into a Week 10 road game in Minnesota, Olave has caught 50 of 85 targets for 563 yards and two touchdowns, putting the 2022 first-round draft pick on pace for a second consecutive 1,000-yard season.
Oct 29, 2023
Moderate stat line in strong win
Olave gathered in five of nine targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 38-27 win versus the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Olave didn't pop off the stat sheet in this season-best scoring performance for the Saints' offense. The 2022 first-round pick paced the team in targets for the third week in a row, as he's accumulated 34 targets over this span. However, Olave has only accumulated 199 receiving yards over that span, as he and quarterback Derek Carr have continually struggled to connect on deep passes over the last few weeks. The 23-year-old wideout's consistency in the short-to-intermediate passing game provides a solid floor for his fantasy production, but, with just one touchdown on 44 receptions this season, he'll likely need to start reeling in more deep balls in order to hit his ceiling in fantasy. Otherwise, Olave and 30-year-old wideout Michael Thomas will likely continue to cut into one another's fantasy production moving forward.
Oct 25, 2023
Not listed on practice report
Olave wasn't listed on the Saints' first Week 8 practice report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of Olave's arrest Monday for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, there seemingly has been no change in his standing with the Saints. David Carr told John DeShazier of the team's official site Wednesday that Olave "was great" at practice, and the quarterback is "excited to see what he does these last 10 games." Through the first seven weeks of the season, Olave has two 100-yard outings to his credit and overall has gathered in 39 of 68 targets for 471 yards and one touchdown. He'll aim to build upon that stat line Sunday against a Colts defense that has given up the 12th-most catches (89) to opposing wide receivers in seven games in 2023.
Oct 23, 2023
Gets arrested Monday
Olave was arrested Monday for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was reportedly traveling 35 mph over the posted speed limit. He is getting processed and will be released from Kenner City (La.) Jail. The Saints are aware of the situation, but there are no further details at this time.
Oct 20, 2023
Peppered with targets in loss
Olave secured seven of 15 targets for 57 yards in the Saints' 31-24 loss to the Jaguars on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Olave's target tally led the Saints on the night and served as a season high. The second-year wideout has now logged double-digit targets on five occasions in seven games, but some occasional chemistry issues with Derek Carr has prevented Olave from fully capitalizing. The speedster was particularly inefficient with his opportunities Thursday night, but he did manage a second straight seven-catch effort and will face a more palatable matchup in a Week 8 road date against the Colts secondary on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Oct 18, 2023
Clear for Week 7
Olave (toe) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game against the Jaguars, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
For a second straight week, Olave has some practice limitations due to a toe issue, but after a listing of full on Wednesday's injury report, he again is good to go for game action. He wasn't worse for wear this past Sunday in Houston, logging a season-high 87 percent snap share on his way to seven catches (on 10 targets) for 96 yards and no touchdowns. Olave will look to produce Thursday versus a Jacksonville defense that has allowed the third-most TDs (seven) to opposing wide receivers in six contests this season.
Oct 17, 2023
Reps capped Tuesday
Olave (toe) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints are proceeding carefully with Olave while he manages a toe injury on a short week, but so long as he's able to take some practice reps again Wednesday, he should be in good shape to play Thursday against the Jaguars. Olave is coming off a strong showing in the Saints' Week 6 loss to the Texans this past Sunday, when he logged a season-high 87 percent snap share while finishing with seven catches for 96 yards on 10 targets.
Oct 16, 2023
Limited Monday
Olave (toe) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave practiced in full last week ahead of Sunday's Week 6 loss to the Texans where the star wideout turned in a 7-96-0 line on 10 targets. On the short week, Olave could be limited ahead of Thursday's game against the Jaguars, but he's expected to be out there for his normal role.
Oct 15, 2023
Nearly logs 100-yard performance
Olave compiled seven receptions (on 10 targets) for 96 yards during Sunday's 20-13 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
After totaling just 11 targets over the previous two contests, Olave logged double-digit targets for the fourth time in six games this season. Three other Saints pass catchers logged eight targets, as quarterback Derek Carr was forced to throw a season-high 50 passing attempts. But, Olave was just one of two Saints receivers to accumulate over 50 receiving yards alongside fellow wideout Rashid Shaheed, who logged two receptions for 85 yards as well as the team's lone touchdown reception. Meanwhile, Olave made up most of his yards in the short and intermediate areas of the field, as all but one of his receptions went for between 10 to 24 yards. Expect Olave and Michael Thomas (eight targets) to continue serving as the clear-cut top two receivers for New Orleans this season.
Oct 12, 2023
Gets back to full participation
Olave (toe) was a limited practice participant Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave opened Week 6 prep with a limited session due to a toe injury, but his ability to get back to all activity one day later indicates the issue is a minor one. The second-year pro thus will set his sights on Sunday's matchup with a Texans defense that has allowed the sixth-highest catch rate (70.5 percent) but just one touchdown in five games to opposing wide receivers this season.
Oct 11, 2023
Dealing with toe issue
Olave was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a toe injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his listing on the Saints' first practice report of Week 6 prep, Olave had avoided any sort of health concern through five games en route to gathering in 25 of 43 targets for 318 yards and one touchdown. The second-year wide receiver will have two more chances this week to get back to all activity before the team potentially hands him a designation for Sunday's contest at Houston.
Oct 8, 2023
Touchdown salvages poor performance
Olave recorded two receptions on five targets for 12 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-0 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The Saints controlled the game from beginning to end, so Derek Carr took to the air only 26 times. Even given that context, Olave's performance left plenty to be desired, as he was out-targeted and out-produced by Michael Thomas. The only thing that saved Olave's performance was a five-yard touchdown catch early in the second quarter. After topping 100 yards twice in his first three games, he has only 16 yards combined across his last two contests.
Oct 1, 2023
Held to one catch in loss
Olave brought in one of six targets for four yards in the Saints' 26-9 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The speedy wideout was held in check in unprecedented fashion, with both his reception and receiving yardage totals qualifying as career lows. Olave's final line could have looked much different had he been able to come up with a couple of deep shots, but it ultimately was a forgettable day for the second-year wideout and the Saints offense as a whole. Olave's first opportunity to bounce back comes in a Week 5 road matchup against the Patriots, but if Derek Carr's shoulder injury continues to limit his deep passing, the speedy receiver's fantasy value will inevitably take a hit to some degree.
Sep 24, 2023
Goes over 100 yards in loss
Olave notched eight receptions (on 11 targets) for 104 yards during Sunday's 18-17 loss against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Olave was the most dynamic offensive player for either team during Sunday's loss. The second-year wideout hauled in four of his five targets in the first half, though he let a would-be seven-yard touchdown pass slide through his arms near the end of the first half. He also caught all but one of his six targets from quarterback Derek Carr, who was forced out with a right shoulder injury sustained on a sack during the third quarter. The veteran underwent X-rays on his right shoulder and was taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation. In his stead, backup quarterback Jameis Winston struggled to spur the Saints' offense during the second half, but he still completed two of three targets to Olave for 32 yards on the team's final offensive series. Olave finished with two more receptions than Michael Thomas, and these two were targeted on 20 of the 34 total passing attempts between Carr and Winston. Olave should remain the primary receiver for New Orleans moving forward, though his production could take
Sep 18, 2023
Heats up in second half on MNF
Olave caught six of 11 targets for 86 yards in Monday's 20-17 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave couldn't get on the same page as Derek Carr in the first half, catching only two of seven targets for 11 yards while Michael Thomas hauled in seven of nine targets for 55 yards. The 2022 first-round pick came alive in the second half, sparking the game's first touchdown drive with a one-handed, 42-yard catch. Olave thought he had a touchdown of his own in the fourth quarter, but a replay review revealed that he stepped out of bounds on the seven-yard line before scampering into the end zone. Despite playing second fiddle to Thomas early, Olave ultimately led the team in both targets and receiving yards. Olave will try to score his first touchdown of the season in Week 3 against the Packers.
Sep 10, 2023
Eight catches to start new season
Olave recorded eight receptions on 10 targets for 112 yards in Sunday's 16-15 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Even with both Rasheed Shaheed and Michael Thomas playing a significant role in the offense, Olave turned in a strong start to his sophomore season. His performance was highlighted by a 45-yard catch and run early in the second half when he found a soft spot in the middle of the Titans' secondary on a crossing route. He supplemented that with additional receptions in intermediate areas of the field, helping him top 100 receiving yards -- a feat he accomplished three times as a rookie. Olave should remain a focus of the offense heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Panthers.
Jul 26, 2023
Building chemistry with new QB
Olave and QB Derek Carr connected well at Wednesday's practice, Ross Jackson of Locked On Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Carr is surely pleased to have all his top receivers healthy, after he spent part of the offseason program throwing to backups while Olave (Achilles), Michael Thomas (foot) and Rashid Shaheed (groin) dealt with various medical issues. Olave's Achilles soreness was never reported to be serious, and the 2022 first-round pick should quickly emerge as Carr's favorite option downfield on the heels of a 1,000-yard rookie season.
Jun 15, 2023
Sits out practice Thursday
Olave (Achilles) didn't practice Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football, coach Dennis Allen suggested that Olave's injury is nothing to worry about, while indicating the wideout is dealing with some minor Achilles inflammation. With that in mind, we'd expect that Olave -- who was spotted Thursday with tape on his right ankle -- should be past the issue by the time training camp rolls around.
Jan 8, 2023
Top wideout in Week 18 loss
Olave had five receptions (on 12 targets) for 60 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 10-7 defeat to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave reclaimed his role as New Orleans' top wideout after dealing with a hamstring injury over the previous two weeks, accounting for just under half of New Orleans' 25 total targets Week 18. The rookie receiver got started early with two receptions for 32 yards on the opening drive, including a 25-yard receiving touchdown. However, he did cough up a crucial fumble at the Carolina 24-yard line during the second quarter. This still marked the 6-foot-1 receiver's first game with double-digit targets since Week 7. Olave finishes the 2022 regular season with 72 receptions (on 119 targets) for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns. He also did a very effective job while stepping up with previous No. 1 wideout Michael Thomas (toe) sidelined for all but three games this season, as Olave now has the second-most receiving yards of any rookie receiver in Saints history. Expect Olave to enter the 2023 campaign as one the likely frontrunners for the team's top receiver role.
Jan 2, 2023
Third in top receiving trio
Olave tallied four receptions (on five targets) for 42 yards during Sunday's 20-10 victory versus Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Olave played 61 percent of the Saints' offensive snaps in his first game back from a hamstring injury. The rookie first-rounder didn't appear limited by this issue while catching all three of his targets for 31 yards on New Orleans' opening drive. However, he was targeted twice throughout the remainder of the first half, the second of which was undercut for an interception by Eagles cornerback Josiah Scott. Olave's opportunities then shrunk to zero when the Saints' offense shifted to a ball-control game script during the second half. The 6-foot-1 receiver finished third on the team in targets behind tight end Juwan Johnson (seven) and wideout Rashid Shaheed (six), the latter of whom has come on as one of the team's top pass catchers over the past four games. Olave has now topped more than six targets just once since Week 9, so it's a safe bet that he'll continue to split targets in the Saints' top receiving trio during next week's regular-season finale.
Jan 1, 2023
Active against Eagles
Olave (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Olave returns from a one-game absence to face one of the best secondaries in the league, led by perimeter corners Darius Slay and James Bradberry. The Saints figure to roll with Olave, Rashid Shaheed and Tre'Quan Smith as their top three wide receivers, while Marquez Callaway is a healthy scratch.
Jan 1, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Olave (hamstring) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave sat out Week 16 due to a hamstring injury but has since managed to return to practice as a limited participant, and it looks like the Saints expect him to be back on the field Sunday. The rookie first-round pick's status will be made official prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 30, 2022
Status in question for Sunday
Olave (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest at Philadelphia, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
One week removed from not practicing before the Saints ruled him out for Week 16 action at Cleveland, Olave was able to muster three limited sessions this Wednesday through Friday as he continues to work through a hamstring issue. With a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, his status will become known before the early slate of games. If New Orleans includes Olave on its inactive list, the team will rely on Rashid Shaheed, Tre'Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway and Kirk Merritt at wide receiver.
Dec 29, 2022
Remains limited Thursday
Olave (hamstring) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back capped sessions under his belt to begin Week 17 prep, Olave is in a better spot than a week ago, when he didn't practice at all before he was sidelined this past Saturday at Cleveland with a hamstring issue. It remains to be seen if he'll enter this weekend with a designation for Sunday's game in Philadelphia, something that will become known once the Saints release their final injury report of the week Friday.
Dec 28, 2022
Officially limited Wednesday
Olave (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Prior to being inactive this past Saturday in Cleveland due to a hamstring issue, Olave was held out of all drills last week, so his return Wednesday is a step in the right direction as the Saints prepare for Sunday's game at Philadelphia. He'll aim to increase his activity level in the coming days, with Friday's practice report indicating whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Week 17 action.
Dec 28, 2022
Back at practice Wednesday
Olave (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, Terrin Waack of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave didn't practice at all due to a hamstring issue during Week 16 prep before he was ruled out for this past Saturday's game at Cleveland. It marked the second absence for what's been a productive first pro campaign for the 11th overall pick of this year's draft, as he's just 60 yards shy of 1,000 receiving yards with two games to go in the regular season. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much work Olave was able to handle.
Dec 22, 2022
Sidelined for Week 16
Olave (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Browns, Terrin Waack of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans will have to get by without two of its starting receivers in Week 16, as neither Olave nor Jarvis Landry (ankle) will be available after both weren't able to practice Friday in any fashion. With the star rookie sidelined and the veteran slot man sitting out, the Saints are left with Rashid Shaheed, Tre'Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway as their likely starting receiver trio.
Dec 21, 2022
Another DNP on Wednesday
Olave (hamstring) was held out of practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Olave has yet to practice this week as he tends to a hamstring issue, giving him just one more opportunity to get some on-field work before the Saints file their final Week 16 injury report Thursday. Fellow wide receiver Jarvis Landry made a sudden appearance on Wednesday's report as a non-participant due to an ankle concern, so this position group will be one to monitor as Saturday's game at Cleveland approaches.
Dec 21, 2022
Not seen at practice Wednesday
Olave (hamstring) was spotted at Wednesday's practice, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave may be trending toward a second consecutive absence from on-field work as he deals with a hamstring issue, which would give him just one more chance to mix into drills during Week 16 prep. Wednesday's injury report will reveal whether or not he's a DNP.
Dec 20, 2022
Dealing with hamstring issue
Olave was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Aside from sitting out Week 6 with a concussion, Olave has been a modicum of health during his rookie season en route to 63 catches (on 102 targets) for 940 yards and three touchdowns in 13 appearances. Now with a new injury in tow, he'll have two more sessions to get back on the field before the Saints potentially hand him a designation for Saturday's game in Cleveland.
Dec 18, 2022
Moderate outing in rush-heavy win
Olave had three receptions (on four targets) for 53 yards during Sunday's 21-18 victory over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Olave logged one his more pedestrian stat lines of the season, as he matched his season low for receptions in a game. However, the rookie wideout still tied Rashid Shaheed for the Saints' second-most targets behind tight end Juwan Johnson (six). Olave also posted at least one reception of 20 or more yards for the ninth time in 13 games this season. The No. 1 wideout should continue to serve a prominent role in New Orleans' limited passing offense against Cleveland in Week 16.
Dec 6, 2022
Top target in loss
Olave reeled in four of six targets for 65 yards during Monday's 17-16 defeat to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Olave once again paced the Saints in targets during this solid outing for quarterback Andy Dalton. However, the rookie still finished as the team's second-leading receiver behind wideout Rashid Shaheed, who posted a career-high 75 receiving yards. Olave also made an uncharacteristic drop on third down that would have given New Orleans' offense an additional red-zone opportunity late in the second quarter. The No. 1 wideout has been one of the most consistent offensive players for the Saints this year, and, following their Week 14 bye, he should have a chance to post a better stat line against Atlanta's 26th-ranked pass defense.
Nov 27, 2022
Leads team in receiving
Olave hauled in five of nine targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 13-0 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans' offense sputtered as a whole, but Olave was able to produce against a tough defense. The standout rookie could have had a bigger game had his quarterback not struggled, as he almost made two circus catches on poorly-thrown balls that would have resulted in an additional 30-plus yards and a touchdown. It was still a productive fantasy line from the 22-year-old, who now boasts a 56/822/3 receiving line through 11 contests. Olave remains the Saints clear No. 1 wideout heading into next Monday's pivotal division matchup against the Saints.
Nov 20, 2022
Hauls in 53-yard touchdown
Olave caught five of six targets for 102 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 27-20 victory versus the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Olave led the Saints in receptions and receiving yards with the team's pass-catching corps at full strength outside of Deonte Harty (foot) and Michael Thomas (toe), who are both out on IR. After catching his lone target of the first half for 12 yards, the first-round rookie logged three receptions of 14 yards or more in the second half. Olave also reeled in a 53-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Andy Dalton in the third quarter, marking the wideout's longest reception of the season. This game represents a resurgent performance for Dalton and the entire New Orleans' passing offense, though it could be tough replicating these results next week against the 49ers.
Nov 13, 2022
Step back against Pittsburgh
Olave recorded three receptions on five targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
For the first time since Week 4, Olave faced legitimate target competition due to the return of Jarvis Landry (groin). As a result, Olave earned his fewest targets since Week 1, also turning in his lowest yardage total of the campaign. Olave should have the potential to regain volume moving forward, but the state of the Saints' offense limits his potential to produce consistently.
Nov 8, 2022
Overcomes poor Dalton performance
Olave recorded six receptions on nine targets for 71 yards in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Olave caught a pass on the first play from scrimmage for a gain of 15 yards. It took until there were 25 seconds remaining in the second quarter for him to catch his next pass, but he picked up the pace in the final two quarters as the Saints tried to recover from a significant deficit. As a result, Olave was able to surpass 70 receiving yards for the fourth time in his first eight games in the NFL. He was also the only Saints receiver to surpass 50 receiving yards or three receptions, highlighting his ability to overcome the poor quarterback play of Andy Dalton.
Nov 3, 2022
Likely No. 1 wideout rest of season
Olave appears set to serve as the Saints' top wideout for the rest of the season after head coach Dennis Allen announced Thursday that Michael Thomas (toe) was set to undergo surgery and unlikely to play again in 2022, John Sigler of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Thomas is heading to injured reserve on account of a dislocated second toe on his right foot, an injury that has prevented the three-time Pro Bowler from playing since Week 3. With Allen noting that the Saints aren't counting on Thomas to return before season's end, Olave should remain locked in for high target counts throughout the second half of the campaign. In the four games in which he's played that Thomas has missed -- the rookie sat out Week 6 with a concussion -- Olave has averaged five receptions for 69.8 yards on 8.5 targets per contest. Jarvis Landry (ankle) has also sat out three of those games and could siphon some looks away from Olave once he returns, but there should be enough targets to go around to keep both wideouts highly involved.
Oct 30, 2022
Makes five grabs
Olave caught five of seven targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Olave trailed only tailback Alvin Kamara in all major receiving categories. The rookie has now topped 50 yards through the air in six straight outings, showing impressive consistency despite a fluctuating Saints quarterback position. In Week 9, Olave is slated to make his first Monday night appearance, as New Orleans plays host to Baltimore.
Oct 20, 2022
Clears century mark in return
Olave brought in seven of 14 targets for 106 yards in the Saints' 42-34 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie led the Saints in receptions, receiving yards and targets in his return from a one-game absence due to a concussion. Olave recorded a 41-yard reception for his longest catch, and he naturally served as a primary target for Andy Dalton on a night when Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) were sidelined once again. Olave now has two 100-yard efforts in his first six career games, giving him plenty of momentum regardless of the availability of his position mates going into a Week 8 interconference home matchup against the Raiders a week from Sunday.
Oct 17, 2022
Not listed on injury report
Olave wasn't listed on Monday's estimated injury report, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave has cleared concussion protocols and should be good to go for Week 7. Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) continue to deal with lingering injuries, so Olave is currently in line to be the Saints' No. 1 wideout against the Cardinals on Thursday. Across five appearances, the rookie first-round pick has caught 25 of 42 targets for 389 yards and two scores.
Oct 17, 2022
Waiting for final clearance
Olave passed all of the league's concussion protocol steps Monday and is waiting for final clearance, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave suffered the concussion during a touchdown catch in Week 5 and was sidelined for Week 6. However, he appears to be progressing well and could return to practice soon. Nonetheless, New Orleans has a quick turnaround into Thursday Night Football, so they may not rush the rookie wideout into action in Week 7. Michael Thomas (foot) has missed three straight games and may wind up on IR, per Terrell, and Jarvis Landry (ankle) hasn't practiced since Week 4 prep, so if Olave is available against Arizona, he'd likely operate as the Saints' No. 1 receiver.
Oct 16, 2022
Not playing in Week 6
Olave (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Since sustaining a concussion when his helmet hit the turf on a touchdown grab last Sunday versus the Seahawks, Olave made noticeable progress through league protocols, logging limited and full sessions to cap Week 6 prep. Still, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported late Saturday that Olave wasn't expected to suit up this weekend. Now that the rookie first-rounder's status is confirmed, Olave will join Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) on the sideline, leaving Tre'Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway, Keith Kirkwood, Rashid Shaheed and Kevin White to man wide receiver for the Saints.
Oct 15, 2022
Unlikely for Week 6
Olave (concussion), officially listed as questionable, is unlikely to play in Week 6 against the Bengals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave was listed as a full practice participant Friday, so this report comes as a bit of a surprise. However, it's likely an indication that Olave hasn't fully progressed through the league's concussion protocol. If he is unable to suit up, the Saints' receiving corps will be depleted -- also missing Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (groin).
Oct 14, 2022
Listed as questionable
Olave (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints listed the rookie as a full practice participant Friday, though multiple beat reporters said he didn't do much during the open portion of practice. Olave apparently did more once the doors were closed, and the Saints will give him a chance to clear concussion protocol before their 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. Fellow wide receivers Michael Thomas (foot), Jarvis Landry (ankle) and Deonte Harty (foot) have been ruled out, leaving the Saints with Olave, Marquez Callaway and Tre'Quan Smith on the active roster, while Keith Kirkwood, Kirk Merritt and Kevin White are the WR options on the practice squad.
Oct 13, 2022
Officially limited Thursday
Olave (concussion) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave didn't join his teammates in drills Wednesday, officially going down as a DNP, but Underhill reported after the session that the rookie wide receiver was in the third stage of the protocol for head injuries. With Thursday's development, Olave has taken another step in his recovery, taking part in football-specific exercise during the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, according to Underhill. Olave will have a chance to bump to full Friday, but even if he doesn't he at least has put himself in a position to miss no time due to the concussion that he suffered this past Sunday versus the Seahawks.
Oct 12, 2022
Progressing through protocol
Olave currently is in the third of five stages of the concussion protocol as of Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave left the Saints' Week 5 win against the Seahawks in third quarter after his helmet hit the turf as he hauled in a touchdown. While he wasn't able to practice Wednesday, Olave took part in stretching before going to the side at the start of the session. His activity was consistent with the third stage of the protocol for head injuries, which allows for football-specific exercise. Next up will be non-contact drills, so Olave's status on Thursday's report may reveal that he's made additional progress.
Oct 12, 2022
DNP on Wednesday
Olave (concussion) officially didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Olave joined his teammates for stretching prior to Wednesday's session before going to the side, according to Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. On a positive note, Olave at least was on the field, which can't be said for fellow wide receivers Michael Thomas (foot), Jarvis Landry (ankle) and Deonte Harty (foot). It appears Olave has made some progress through the concussion he sustained when his helmet banged the turf at the end of his third-quarter TD catch this past Sunday versus the Seahawks, and the rookie first-round pick still has two practices this week to make his presence felt in drills.
Oct 12, 2022
Makes appearance at practice
Olave (concussion) took part in stretching before moving to the side during Wednesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave picked up a head injury when his helmet struck the turf as he was tackled to the ground during a touchdown catch this past Sunday against the Seahawks. It's unclear if he'll do enough to be termed limited to kick off Week 6 prep, but coach Dennis Allen noted Wednesday that the rookie wide receiver remains in the concussion protocol, according to Erin Summers of the Saints' official site.
Oct 10, 2022
Remains in concussion protocol
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Olave remains in concussion protocols but felt better following Sunday's win over the Seahawks, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave suffered a concussion after hitting his head on the turf while being tackled during his third-quarter touchdown. In the absence of Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle), the rookie finished the contest with four receptions on six targets for 54 yards and the lone score. However, Olave and Deonte Harty (foot) both left the game, leaving Marquez Callaway, Tre'Quan Smith and Keith Kirkwood as the Saints' top healthy wideouts the rest of the way. Wednesday's practice report will give a better indication on which of New Orleans' pass catchers will be available for Week 6 against the Bengals.
Oct 9, 2022
Concussion confirmed
Olave sustained a concussion during Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave picked up the injury when his head hit the turf hard as he was tackled by a Seattle defender on a third-quarter touchdown. His final Week 5 line will read four catches for 54 yards and the score on six targets. With Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) inactive and Deonte Harty (foot) leaving this contest as well, Marquez Callaway, Tre'Quan Smith and Keith Kirkwood are the Saints' healthy wide receivers.
Oct 9, 2022
To be examined for head injury
Olave left Sunday's game against the Seahawks to be evaluated for a head injury, Deuce Windham of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In the process of making a 16-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, Olave's head hit the turf hard as he was tackled to the ground. After a check from the Saints' medical staff, he was able to get to his feet and go to the locker room. If he's unable to return, Olave will finish Week 5 with four catches (on six targets) for 54 yards and the aforementioned score.
Oct 2, 2022
Makes most of seven targets
Olave recorded four receptions on seven targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-25 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Olave led the Saints receiving corps in targets, receptions and yards in the absence of Michael Thomas (foot). He showed good rapport with Andy Dalton, tallying long receptions that went for 32 and 20 yards. Olave also added a four-yard touchdown reception midway through the second quarter -- the first of his career. Olave has had a strong start to his rookie season and has tallied at least five receptions in three consecutive games. After Sunday's loss, Olave disclosed that he suffered a bone bruise on his leg, but it is not expected to be a serious issue, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Sep 25, 2022
Almost 150 yards in loss
Olave caught nine of 13 targets for 147 yards in Sunday's 22-14 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Olave was easily the most productive Saints receiver in the first half, as he went into the break with 72 receiving yards while his teammates combined for only 40. He topped his first-half yardage total by three after halftime, benefiting from a pass-heavy game script and the early departures of both Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle). Olave has been targeted 26 times over the past two weeks, and the rookie first-round pick could be in for even heavier volume against the Vikings in Week 4 if either injured veteran wideout sits out in London.
Sep 18, 2022
Paces pass catchers in loss
Olave secured five of 13 targets for 80 yards in the Saints' 20-10 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Olave's yardage and target tallies led the Saints on the afternoon, making it a solid encore performance for the rookie after a 3-41 effort in Week 1 that included a two-point conversion catch. Olave showed off his speed on his game-long 51-yard grab, but with Jameis Winston revealed to be playing through multiple back fractures, it remains to be seen if it will be the latter or Andy Dalton targeting Olave in a Week 3 road battle against the Panthers.
Sep 11, 2022
Modest showing in Week 1 win
Olave secured all three targets for 41 yards and brought in a two-point conversion pass in the Saints' 27-26 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie played a clear second fiddle to veterans Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas on the afternoon, but Olave still found a way to make a modest mark and did have a key two-point grab early in the fourth quarter to bring the Saints within eight points at the time. Given his talent and rookie status, there's plenty of reason to believe his role will grow substantially in short order. Olave's next opportunity to build up his numbers comes in a tough Week 2 home matchup against the Buccaneers next Sunday.
Aug 27, 2022
Plays alongside Winston
Olave caught his only target for 19 yards in Friday's 27-10 preseason win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Olave's only catch came on the opening drive on a pass thrown by starting quarterback Jameis Winston. The rookie first-round pick should see substantial playing time in the regular season right away in a Saints receiving corps that also features Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas, the latter of whom is recovering from a hamstring injury heading into the Sept. 11 season opener in Atlanta.
Aug 19, 2022
Impressive against Packers
Olave caught two of his three targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Olave played nearly the entire first half and found the end zone on a 20-yard reception with 12 seconds left in the second quarter. He also chipped in an eight-yard catch that set up a field goal for the Saints. Though Olave was catching passes from Ian Book rather than Jameis Winston, he had a fairly impressive performance and can reasonably be expected to contribute immediately as a rookie once the regular season begins.
Aug 14, 2022
Catches lone target Saturday
Olave caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's preseason opener against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Olave drew the start and logged 15 offensive snaps in his preseason debut, but the rookie first-rounder saw just one target on a short dump-off from reserve quarterback Ian Book. Despite the absences of fellow receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry, Olave's lack of volume in the Saints' first preseason contest shouldn't be a concern.
