Cole Kmet Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Packers vs Bears game on Saturday with our National Football League injury report.Dec 7, 2025
Two receptions in loss
Kmet caught two of three targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was able to reel in multiple passes for the second straight game and third time in the last four contests overall. His 42 receiving yards were second on the team behind Luther Burden (67) while fellow tight end Colston Loveland posted a 4-29-1 line. Kmet will look to build off of his recent momentum when the team hosts the Browns in Week 15.
Nov 28, 2025
Snags TD in upset victory
Kmet brought in all three targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 24-15 win over the Eagles on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet led the Bears in receiving yards on a day when Caleb Williams completed under 50.0 percent of his passes and threw for only 154 yards. The veteran tight end also was on the receiving end of Williams' only scoring toss, recording a 28-yard TD with just over six minutes remaining to extend a 17-9 lead. However, Friday marked just the second multi-reception tally over the last seven games for Kmet, so he remains difficult to trust in a Week 14 road matchup against the Packers on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Nov 23, 2025
Usage remains limited
Kmet caught one pass for three yards on one target in the Bears' 31-28 win over the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet is coming off a season-high five catches for 45 yards last week, but he has 10 or fewer yards and two or fewer targets in five of his last six games, including one target Sunday. With Colston Loveland taking on the lead receiving tight end role, Kmet profiles as touchdown-dependent tight end depth.
Nov 16, 2025
Paces team in receiving in win
Kmet caught all five of his targets for 45 yards in the Bears' 19-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet dealt with a back issue during the practice week, but it clearly didn't hamper him in Chicago's victory, as the veteran tight end paced the team in catches and receiving yards while finishing tied for second with his five targets. Kmet has just one touchdown on the season and has yet to reach 50 receiving yards in a single contest. He's recorded 16 catches for 192 yards and one score on 28 targets through nine games.
Nov 13, 2025
Returns to full participation
Kmet (back) returned to full practice participation Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet upgraded to full participation Thursday after being limited by a back injury Wednesday, putting him on track to suit up Sunday against the Vikings. Rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland has overtaken Kmet as the primary option at tight end in Chicago's passing game.
Nov 12, 2025
Limited in practice Wednesday
Kmet (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet cleared the concussion protocol in time to suit up for Chicago's comeback win over the Giants in Week 10, but he appears to have sustained an ankle injury during that contest. If the veteran tight end is able to resume handling full reps Thursday and/or Friday, he'll have a solid chance to avoid carrying an injury designation entirely for Sunday's road matchup against the Vikings. Kmet drawn two or fewer targets in four consecutive appearances, with most routes for the tight end position instead going the way of rookie Colston Loveland.
Nov 9, 2025
Limited passing-game involvement
Kmet caught one pass for five yards on two targets in the Bears' 24-20 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has two or fewer targets in six of eight contests this season and has 16 or fewer yards in each of his last four games. His recent usage leaves him as tight end depth who is difficult to start outside of leagues with very thin options.
Nov 7, 2025
Avoids injury designation
Kmet (concussion) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy interest in Kmet himself is perhaps at an all-time low, but his return could have an impact in the form of fewer snaps and routes for rookie Colston Loveland, who put up 118 yards and two TDs at Cincinnati last week. The Bears face another vulnerable defense this Sunday, so Loveland should still have some opportunities even if he cedes some playing time to Kmet.
Nov 6, 2025
Upgrades to full activity
Kmet (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was forced out of this past Sunday's 47-42 win over the Bengals and was later diagnosed with a concussion, but he appears to be making rapid progress through the five-step protocol. After opening Week 10 prep Wednesday as a limited participant, Kmet has taken another step forward by practicing fully Thursday. He'll still need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to suit up this weekend, but he appears to have a real chance at being available for Sunday's game against the Giants. If Kmet plays, however, he may have to settle for a smaller role than he's handled for most of the season; rookie tight end Colston Loveland broke out with a 6-118-2 receiving line on seven targets in the win over the Bengals and may have earned himself a larger share of the playing time as a result.
Nov 5, 2025
Limited Wednesday
Kmet (concussion) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet left this past Sunday's game at Cincinnati in the second quarter and eventually was diagnosed with a concussion. Considering he's already able to mix into some drills just three days later signifies that he's progressing well through the protocol for head injuries, but he'll still need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to play Sunday against the Giants. Rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland, who broke out with six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns Week 9, is poised to have a larger role moving forward no matter when Kmet suits up again.
Nov 2, 2025
Concussion confirmed
Kmet won't return to Sunday's contest at Cincinnati due to a concussion, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet paid a visit to the sideline tent in the second quarter and then went to the locker room before the Bears announced that he was being checked for a concussion. With a head injury confirmed, he'll be out until he gains clearance from an independent neurologist. Rookie second-round pick Colston Loveland is set to lead Chicago's TE group during Kmet's absence.
Nov 2, 2025
Being checked for concussion
Kmet is under evaluation for a concussion during Sunday's contest at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Kmet visited the medical tent in the second quarter and then walked to the locker room before the Bears made this announcement. At the time of his departure, he'd hauled in one of two targets for 10 yards and also was 0-for-1 passing. Rookie first-round Colston Loveland is poised for more work for as long as Kmet is sidelined.
Oct 31, 2025
Cleared to return
Kmet (back) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Kmet will return from a one-game absence and likely continue rotating with rookie Colston Loveland, who caught three passes for 38 yards in the loss to Baltimore last week. A favorable matchup with the Bengals should lead to some TE production, but it's hard to say which guy will come out ahead in terms of snaps and routes, never mind targets.
Oct 30, 2025
Limited for second straight day
Kmet (back) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After missing the first game of his career in this past Sunday's loss to the Ravens, Kmet has opened Week 9 prep with a pair of limited sessions. If he can upgrade to full participation Friday, Kmet should be in good position to reclaim his usual duties as the Bears' starting tight end. While Kmet was sidelined this past weekend, rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland played a season-high 81 percent of the snaps on offense and finished with three catches for 38 yards on five targets.
Oct 29, 2025
Limited in return to practice
Kmet (back) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This marks Kmet's first on-field work since he sustained a back injury Week 7 against the Saints that resulted in the first absence of his six-year career this past Sunday in Baltimore. Getting back on the practice field Wednesday generally is a sign of progress, but he may need to get back to all activity Thursday and/or Friday to avoid a designation entirely ahead of Sunday's contest at Cincinnati.
Oct 24, 2025
First career absence in Week 8
Kmet (back) won't play Sunday against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Kmet will miss a regular-season game for the first time in his NFL career after starting his career with a 90-game ironman streak. Rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland is expected to see increased usage in Kmet's absence. Head coach Ben Johnson deemed Kmet week-to-week Friday but said Kmet isn't a candidate to go on injured reserve, per Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network.
Oct 23, 2025
Sits out another practice
Kmet (back) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet didn't take any reps for the second day in a row and may be trending toward missing Sunday's game in Baltimore. Before the Bears decide whether Kmet takes a designation into the weekend or gets ruled out for Sunday's contest, the team will wait and see if he's able to log any on-field work Friday. Rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland would be in line for a hefty snap count at tight end if Kmet is unable to play in Baltimore.
Oct 22, 2025
Misses practice
Kmet (back) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Rookie TE Colston Loveland played 91 percent of Chicago's snaps after Kmet left Sunday's win over New Orleans in the third quarter. Prior to the injury, Kmet and Loveland had been working in a timeshare, with neither seeing many targets on a big day for the Bears' running game. Loveland may be tasked with a three-down role this Sunday in Baltimore, if Kmet isn't ready to play.
Oct 19, 2025
Leaves Sunday's game
Kmet exited Sunday's game against the Saints after sustaining a back injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to that, Kmet caught his only target for 16 yards. While he's sidelined, Colston Loveland and Durham Smythe are available to handle the Bears' tight end duties versus New Orleans.
Oct 14, 2025
No impact in passing game
Kmet caught one of two targets for zero yards in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Commanders on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has 10 or fewer yards in two of his last three games with one game over 31 yards, leaving him as a fantasy depth tight end.
Sep 28, 2025
Leads team in targets
Kmet caught three of nine targets for 46 yards in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After Kmet was targeted a total of seven times in three games, his nine targets against Las Vegas was likely a result of Chicago trying to use quick passes to keep the Las Vegas pass rush off of Caleb Williams. Despite the busy afternoon, Kmet will need to string a couple of games with high volume to be considered a reliable fantasy option.
Sep 25, 2025
Logs full practice Thursday
Kmet (groin) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from being limited due to a groin injury Wednesday, Kmet didn't have any practice restrictions, while rookie TE Colston Loveland remained sidelined due to the hip issue that he suffered this past Sunday against the Cowboys. If Loveland is inhibited or sidelined Sunday at Las Vegas, Kmet would be in line for a bump in volume in the Bears' passing game.
Sep 24, 2025
Tending to groin issue
Kmet was limited at practice Wednesday due to a groin injury.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has played the lion's share of the Bears' offensive snaps this season, and while he ran a route on 71 percent of them this past Sunday against the Cowboys, he was targeted only once by QB Caleb Williams. Fortunately for managers that roster Kmet, it happened to be a 10-yard touchdown catch. Meanwhile, rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland wasn't able to practice Wednesday due to the hip injury that knocked him from Week 3 action. Kmet thus appears poised for another large workload Week 4 at Las Vegas, assuming he's able to suit up and Loveland is inhibited or even sidelined.
Sep 22, 2025
Scores First TD of 2025
Kmet posted one catch for a 10-yard touchdown in the Bears' 31-14 win over the Cowboys on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet plays more snaps than teammate Colston Loveland, he has seven targets and four receptions over the first three games. However, with 29 and 31 yards in two of those three games to go with Sunday's touchdown, the tight end may be carving out a consistent, low-volume role in the Chicago passing attack.
Sep 14, 2025
Four targets in defeat
Kmet caught two passes for 29 yards in the Bears' 52-21 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was targeted four times, and the veteran has doubled first-round rookie Colston Loveland's targets in each of the first two games. Although it's possible that Loveland sees his role grow over time, Kmet remains the top tight end for the Bears, though that may not lead to many ceiling performances in an offense that relies heavily on their wide receivers.
Sep 9, 2025
Serves as top tight end Monday
Kmet finished with a 31-yard reception on four targets in Monday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Bears invested a first-round pick in April's draft in another tight end in Colston Loveland, but at least for one week, Kmet served as the team's top option at the position. In addition to garnering the start, Kmet out-snapped the rookie by a 60-38 margin and also earned two more targets than Loveland, who finished with two receptions for 12 yards. Loveland had missed time in the spring while recovering from January shoulder surgery, so it's possible that with more practice time as the season unfolds, he could eventually usurp Kmet on the depth chart.
Aug 18, 2025
Rips off big gain Sunday
Kmet took his only reception for 29 yards in Sunday's preseason win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was the only question mark amongst the first-team offense heading into Sunday's dress rehearsal, but he wound up suiting up after working with the training staff pregame. The veteran starter showed no ill effects from the minor back injury he was nursing earlier in camp, ripping off a 29-yard gain with his only touch against Buffalo. Kmet posted a modest 47/474/4 receiving line in 17 games last season, but he will face playing time competition after the Bears drafted TE Colston Loveland with the 10th overall pick.
Aug 17, 2025
Might not suit up versus Bills
Kmet may not suit up with the rest of Chicago's starters during Sunday's preseason game against Buffalo, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bears are expected to play their starters versus the Bills, according to Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune. This would include Kmet as TE1. But, he was seen working under the supervision of members of Chicago's training staff during early pregame warmups, which indicates that he's not guaranteed to participate in Sunday's exhibition. The 26-year-old was previously sidelined with a back injury for a couple days during training camp before he returned to the field Aug. 8. If Kmet is out, then rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland would be in line to start ahead of fellow tight end Durham Smythe.
Aug 8, 2025
Back at practice
Kmet (undisclosed) returned to practice Thursday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet left practice early Tuesday, so whatever was bothering him clearly wasn't a serious issue. Kmet has been active with the first-team offense during camp despite the Bears using the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 Draft on Colston Loveland. New coach Ben Johnson is expected to involve both tight ends this season.
Aug 5, 2025
Avoids significant injury
Kmet (undisclosed) was forced to leave the Bears' practice early Tuesday, Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet exited practice with a trainer after suffering an undisclosed injury, but he has reportedly avoided anything serious. More information on his injury will likely be provided in the near future. The tight end can be considered day-to-day for the time being as the team approaches their preseason opener Sunday versus the Dolphins.
Jul 19, 2025
Embraces TE tandem vision
Kmet remains a key part of Chicago's 12-personnel-heavy offense, . Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite initially being surprised by the Bears' selection of Colston Loveland, Kmet has bought into coach Ben Johnson's plan to use both tight ends. Johnson ran the NFL's third-most plays out of 12 personnel last year, and Kmet is expected to be on the field frequently in those sets. His role as a core piece in two-TE packages should provide limited fantasy viability, as target volume likely remains capped with Loveland expected to be the primary pass catcher.
Apr 25, 2025
Facing target competition
The Bears are looking forward to using both Kmet and first-round draft choice, Colston Loveland in two tight-end sets, " Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In 2024, Kmet recorded 47 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns on 55 targets, marking his least productive season since his rookie year in 2020. After playing 87 percent of the offensive snaps last season, Kmet now faces significant competition following the first-round selection of Loveland, whose arrival could sharply reduce his role. Although Loveland is expected to be an adequate blocker, the Bears likely drafted the former Michigan standout for his ability to create mismatches in the passing game. Unless the situation shifts during training camp, Kmet may go undrafted in the majority of fantasy leagues.
Jan 6, 2025
Disappointing season concludes
Kmet caught two passes for three yards in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet posted a career year in 2023, when he recorded 719 yards and six touchdowns. However, the tight end had been the No. 2 option in the team's passing attack. This year was much different. The Bears had three quality wide receivers, but they also had an inconsistent passing attack. As a result, the tight end was targeted 55 times, leading to 474 yards and four touchdowns. In terms of yardage, this was easily the worst season since Kmet's rookie campaign in 2020. The former Notre Dame player will need the Chicago passing attack to take a major step forward if he is going to return to being a solid fantasy option. Kmet is under contract with the Bears through 2027.
Dec 27, 2024
Blanked in Thursday's loss
Kmet wasn't targeted in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was far from the only Chicago player to post an underwhelming stat line as the Bears produced just 179 yards of offense en route to a 10th consecutive defeat. The lone target among Chicago's tight ends Thursday went to Gerald Everett. Kmet will look to bounce back in Week 18 against a Packers defense that permitted him to catch three passes for 42 yards back in Week 11.
Dec 22, 2024
Scores touchdown in losing effort
Kmet caught two passes for nine yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet found the end zone for the first time since Chicago's Week 7 bye. In the last three games, the tight end has a total of three receptions on three targets. Kmet also has one game with more than four targets over the last eight games. Although the veteran is a talented player, his scoring floor remains low due to lack of volume.
Dec 17, 2024
One grab in loss
Kmet caught a 14-yard pass in the Bears' 30-12 loss to the Vikings on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has slowed down drastically since the Bears' Week 7 bye. The veteran has five games with 14 yards or fewer in five of eight games. In addition, Kmet has caught four passes for 40 yards over the last three games. The tight end will remain a risky lineup option in the fantasy playoffs.
Dec 10, 2024
Not targeted in Week 14 loss
Kmet didn't see a single target in Chicago's 38-13 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Bears playing from behind all afternoon, Caleb Williams attempted just 23 passes. Chicago simply couldn't move the football versus San Francisco and ran just 52 offensive plays. Kmet was on the field for 92 percent of the offensive downs, and he's played at least 92 percent of the snaps in five consecutive games. That playing time alone keeps him on the fantasy radar ahead of a Week 15 date with the Vikings.
Nov 28, 2024
Brings in all three targets Thursday
Kmet recorded three catches (on three targets) for 26 yards during Thursday's 23-20 loss at Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Four days removed from earning 10 targets during a defeat to the Vikings, Kmet fell back to what he more or less has received most weeks this season (26 targets in the nine games in which he didn't see double-digit looks). Elsewhere in the Bears' skill ranks Thursday, DJ Moore led the way by a large margin with an 8-97-1 line on 16 targets, Keenan Allen scored twice among his five catches for 73 yards on eight targets, and Rome Odunze (2-25-0 on six targets) and D'Andre Swift (2-35-0 on three targets) also got in the act. With that knowledge, Kmet likely will resume his modest role in Chicago's offense in his next game Sunday, Dec. 8 in San Francisco.
Nov 24, 2024
Earns 10 targets
Kmet recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Kmet benefitted from a particularly pass-heavy game script for the Bears, commanding double-digit targets for the second time this season. He took advantage by tallying long gains of 20 and 14 yards, the latter of which directly led to a Bears' field goal just before halftime. Kmet's spike performances have been tied directly to more passing volume from Caleb Williams, and the Bears could be forced to the air often in a Week 13 matchup against the Lions given the defense's stout run defense. Even given that possibility, he's a risky option as he's seen five or fewer targets in all but two contests on the campaign.
Nov 17, 2024
Tallies three catches Sunday
Kmet hauled in all three targets for 42 yards during Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
QB Caleb Williams experienced a bounceback Week 11 against a Green Bay defense that often put up little resistance, and the Bears' top three wide receivers all earned at least seven targets. Meanwhile, Kmet again remained mostly quiet since the Bears' Week 7 bye, putting together a cumulative 6-69-0 line on eight targets over the last four games. This may be the status quo moving forward for the fifth-year pro, and his next chance to produce will arrive next Sunday versus the Vikings.
Nov 10, 2024
Another poor perfromance
Kmet caught two passes for 13 yards in the Bears' 19-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After the Week 6 game, Kmet was one of the highest-scoring tight ends in fantasy. Since the Bears Week 7 bye, the tight end has accounted for three catches and 27 yards in three games. Despite the early-season success, Kmet will be a risky weekly fantasy option unless the Chicago offense gets back on track.
Nov 3, 2024
Not targeted in defeat
Kmet posted no stats in the Bears' 29-9 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
During Weeks 3 through 6, Kmet was one of the highest scoring tight ends in the league. Since Chicago's Week 7 bye, the offense has been terrible. In the last two games, Kmet has one catch for 14 yards. Unless the Bears figure out their woes on offense, Kmet should be considered a boom-or-bust fantasy option.
Oct 27, 2024
Hot streak ends
Kmet caught a 14-yard pass in the Bears' 18-15 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Caleb Williams completing just 10 passes for 131 yards, there was not much production to go around for the Chicago pass catchers. The one target Kmet saw was the first time since Week 1 that the tight end had fewer than three targets. Aside from one game with 10 targets, Kmet is averaging three targets over his other six games. Due to the lack of consistent passes thrown to Kmet, the potential for a poor performance can occur at any time.
Oct 13, 2024
Two more scores in London win
Kmet brought in all five targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 35-16 win over the Jaguars on Sunday in London.
ANALYSIS
Kmet delivered his first multi-touchdown effort of the season via scoring grabs of 31 and two yards in the second quarter. The talented tight end also co-led the Bears in receptions and targets while setting the pace in receiving yards by a comfortable margin. Kmet's performance was the second-most productive of the season behind his 10-97-1 line against the Colts in Week 3, and he heads into a Week 7 bye with the chemistry between him and first overall Caleb Williams clearly on an upswing.
Oct 6, 2024
Four targets in victory
Kmet caught three passes for 57 yards in the Bears' 36-10 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After doing little during the first two games of the season, Kmet has come alive over the past three contests. During that time, the tight end is averaging five catches and 63 yards. However, Kmet has just one big game on the season, he should be viewed as a solid-floor fantasy option.
Oct 3, 2024
Logs full practice Thursday
Kmet (knee) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet showed up on the Bears' first Week 5 practice report Wednesday as limited due to a knee injury, but he was able to handle a full allotment of reps one day later, effectively clearing him ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers. Aside from a 10-97-1 showing on 11 targets Week 3 at Indianapolis, he's combined for eight catches (on nine targets) for 65 yards and no touchdowns in his other three outings this season.
Oct 2, 2024
Limited by knee injury
Kmet was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Kmet handled a full workload in Sunday's 24-18 win over the Rams, playing 93 percent of snaps and catching each of his three targets for 34 yards. He's back to a near-every-down role after opening the season in a timeshare with Gerald Everett, and while a knee injury may limit Kmet's practice participation this week, his ability to do some work Wednesday suggests he's on track to play this Sunday against the Panthers.
Sep 29, 2024
Three catches in Week 4 win
Kmet secured three of six targets for 34 yards in the Bears' 24-18 win over the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After a 10-catch outburst against the Colts in Week 3, Kmet saw his workload reduce considerably with the return of Keenan Allen from a two-game absence due to a heel injury. Kmet did finish tied for second in receptions and as the runner-up in receiving yards on the afternoon for Chicago, but his production Sunday is likely to be much closer to the norm than what he was able to do in the aforementioned loss to Indianapolis.
Sep 22, 2024
Breaks out in Week 3
Kmet caught 10 of 11 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-16 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
After two quiet games to begin the season, Kmet started to click with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams in this one, capping his huge day with a six-yard score late in the fourth quarter as the Bears tried to mount a comeback. The tight end may have benefitted from the absence of Keenan Allen (heel) to monopolize intermediate routes, but if Williams is going to attempt 50-plus passes a game -- he went 33-for-52 for 363 yards Sunday -- there should be plenty of volume to go around even when all of Chicago's top targets are healthy. Kmet will look to keep rolling in Week 4 against the Rams.
Sep 16, 2024
Grabs four passes Sunday
Kmet pulled in four of five passes for 27 yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's four-catch night was a step forward after recording just one reception in the Bears' season-opening win over Tennessee. The starting tight end's production still left much to be desired from a fantasy perspective. Veteran backup Gerald Everett (three targets) continues to eat into Kmet's fantasy upside as the team prepares to face Indianapolis on Sunday.
Sep 8, 2024
Quiet performance in opener
Kmet caught his only target for four yards in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Caleb Williams threw 25 of 29 passes to his top-four wide receivers, so there were very few targets left for other Chicago players. Also, with Kmet sharing the field with fellow tight end Gerald Everett, who also had one target, it seems unlikely that Kmet will match the 84 targets he's averaged over the last three seasons.
Aug 17, 2024
Rotates with Everett
Kmet caught his lone target for nine yards in Saturday's 27-3 preseason win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Kmet and Gerald Everett rotated on the first-team offense for a second straight week, with the latter catching two of four targets for 10 yards in Saturday's win. Everett's involvement -- after signing a two-year, $12 million contract -- creates reasonable concerns about Kmet not matching his robust snap shares from the past three seasons, but Kmet could still take the lion's share of playing time once the games actually matter.
May 23, 2024
Connecting with new QB
Kmet (forearm) is building chemistry with new rookie quarterback Caleb Williams at OTAs, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet suffered a broken right forearm during Chicago's season-ending loss to the Packers in Week 18, but he looks fully healthy at OTAs. The starting tight end could have some extra opportunities to establish a rapport with Williams, given that Rome Odunze (hamstring) has missed most of OTAs while Keenan Allen has stayed away from the voluntary activities. Still, the likeliest scenario in this passing game could be that Kmet takes a back seat to all of DJ Moore, Allen and Odunze, and even with his pedigree as the No. 1 overall pick, it seems a long shot that Williams can support four solid fantasy options as a rookie. Kmet will be a sleeper option at the tight end position in 2024 fantasy drafts.
Feb 8, 2024
Recovering from broken forearm
Kmet said Thursday on media row before Super Bowl LVIII that he sustained a broken right forearm in the Bears' Week 18 loss at Green Bay, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was donning a brace due to the hit he took at the end of a 27-yard catch in the season finale, which caused him to sit out most of the fourth quarter. The timing of the injury likely allowed the 2020 second-round pick to keep his games played streak (67 of 67) to begin his career intact, and his career-high 73 catches (seventh among tight ends) translated to 719 yards (ninth) and six touchdowns (tied for second). Kmet expects to gain medical clearance in the near future, meaning it won't impact his work in the offseason.
Jan 7, 2024
Misses most of fourth quarter
Kmet (forearm) didn't return to Sunday's 17-9 loss at Green Bay, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet took a big hit on a 27-yard catch in the fourth quarter, and while quarterback Justin Fields an incompletion his way three plays later, the tight end was ruled out before the end of the contest. With three catches (on four targets) for 41 yards Week 18, Kmet ended the 2023 campaign with a serviceable 73-719-6 line on 90 targets in 17 games. As the 2020 second-round pick heads into the first year of his four-year, $50 million extension that he signed back in July, his status as an iron man remains intact, as he's played in 67 of a possible 67 games to start his career.
Jan 7, 2024
Injures forearm Sunday
Kmet left Sunday's game in Green Bay due to a forearm injury.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was on the receiving end of a big hit at the end of a 27-yard catch near the start of the fourth quarter. He was targeted by quarterback Justin Fields three plays later but was deemed questionable to return on the Bears' next possession. If Kmet is unable to come back into the contest, he'll end Week 18 with three catches (on four targets) for 41 yards. Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis are the healthy TEs on the active roster.
Jan 7, 2024
Active as expected Week 18
Kmet (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Early Sunday reports indicated Kmet was strongly trending toward active status, and that's now been made official. Kmet was also in uniform in Week 17 against the Falcons and on the field for 13 snaps, but he theoretically stands to have a better chance at a normal workload Sunday after managing to practice in full Friday. Robert Tonyan, Kmet's backup, could still see a slightly elevated snap count against his old Packers squad if Kmet is limited in any way.
Jan 7, 2024
Likely to suit up
Kmet (knee) is listed as questionable but is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Packers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet should be formally cleared when Chicago releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Though Kmet looks poised to play through the knee injury for the second week in a row, it's unclear how much larger of a role he'll be able to handle Sunday after he was limited to just 13 snaps on offense in the Bears' 37-17 win over Atlanta in Week 17. The tight end at least appeared to be healthier in practice this week, as he turned in a limited practice Thursday before upgrading to full activity Friday.
Jan 5, 2024
Deemed questionable for Week 18
Kmet (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
While nursing the same knee injury last week, Kmet was listed as questionable and viewed as a true game-time decision leading up to the Bears' matchup with the Falcons. He was active for the contest, but Kmet was limited to a season-low 13 snaps in the Bears' 37-17 win. Kmet once again carries a questionable tag into the season finale, and though he's probably still less than 100 percent, he's presumably healthier than he was a week ago after he was able to put in a full practice Friday. Whether that translates to him handling the three-down role he's typically maintained for most of the season remains to be seen, but expect Kmet to at least receive clearance to play in advance of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 4, 2024
Limited in return to practice
Kmet (knee) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet is a step ahead of last week's practice regimen as he tends to a knee issue, putting in a limited session one day earlier this time around. Still, he entered last weekend listed as questionable for this past Sunday's game against the Falcons, for which he was active but blanked in the box score. It remains to be seen if Kmet has a designation ahead of Sunday's contest at Green Bay, something that will be revealed on Friday's injury report.
Jan 3, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Kmet (knee) won't practice Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
When referencing Kmet and cornerback Jaylon Johnson (shoulder) Wednesday, coach Matt Eberflus noted of the duo, "they just need another day with the trainers to get ready...it's looking positive but we'll see where it is" as Sunday's season-finale versus the Packers approaches. In the Bears' Week 17 win over the Falcons, the tight end played through his knee issue, but wasn't targeted in the contest, while logging just 13 snaps.
Dec 31, 2023
No targets in Week 17
Kmet wasn't targeted on 13 offensive snaps during Sunday's 37-17 victory against the Falcons, Mike Clay of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was contained to one limited practice during Week 17 prep due to a knee injury that he sustained last Sunday against the Cardinals. While he was deemed questionable for this Sunday's contest, he was able to suit up, but he mostly was used as a run blocker, as Clay noted eight of Kmet's snaps occurred on runs. Robert Tonyan was the only Bears tight end to be targeted, as he hauled in three of four passes for 40 yards. Kmet's health may dictate how much Chicago is willing to put on his plate, so his activity level in the coming days will be key to determining if he'll be involved in the passing game Week 18 at Green Bay.
Dec 31, 2023
Cleared to suit up
Kmet (knee) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kmet caught four passes for a season-high 107 yards in the first half of last week's matchup versus the Cardinals but was forced out of the game due to a knee injury. His injury was described as soreness, and he didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but returned Friday as a limited participant. The 2020 second-round pick has officially been cleared to extend his streak of consecutive games played to 66, but Kmet's snaps may be limited to avoid a potential setback. On the other hand, Darnell Mooney (concussion) isn't available, so Chicago may need everything they can get out of Kmet, who'll likely be Justin Fields' second-favorite target behind DJ Moore on Sunday.
Dec 31, 2023
Viewed as game-time call for Sunday
Kmet is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Falcons and will test out his sore knee before the Bears make a call on his status, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet is officially listed as questionable after he practiced just once (on Friday, and as a limited participant) this week. Though Rapoport reported earlier Sunday that Kmet was expected to be available for the Week 17 matchup, the tight end's status is now more muddled just a few hours later after he was more sore than expected after arriving at Soldier Field this morning. Fantasy managers considering Kmet for Week 17 lineups will get official word on his status when the Bears release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If Kmet is forced to miss the first game of his career Sunday, the Bears would be left with Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis as their available tight ends.
Dec 31, 2023
Likely to suit up Sunday
Kmet (knee) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons but is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has yet to miss a game during his four-year NFL career, and he looks poised to continue his streak of consecutive appearances Sunday, despite managing just one limited practice this week while battling the knee injury. Because of his lack of full practice reps this week, Kmet could be at risk of having his snaps managed to some degree, though the Bears haven't indicated that will be the case. In any event, Kmet's status will be verified when Chicago releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 29, 2023
Questionable after practice return
Kmet (knee) returned to practice Friday as a limited participant and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Knee was unable to return to last week's game after suffering the knee injury and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, but it now seems he has at least some shot to extend his streak of 65 consecutive games played. He's been the No. 2 option in Chicago's passing game all year, and the No. 3 guy (WR Darnell Mooney) has been ruled out for Sunday due to a concussion. An absence for Kmet likely would open up a lot of snaps and routes for Robert Tonyan, with other potential beneficiaries in terms of targets including WRs Tyler Scott and Equanimeous St. Brown.
Dec 28, 2023
Doesn't practice Thursday
Kmet (knee) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet departed in the middle of this past Sunday's win against the Cardinals due to a knee injury that so far has kept him off the practice field during Week 17 prep. He'll thus have just one more opportunity this week to mix into drills before the Bears potentially make a call on his availability ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Falcons. An absence from Kmet would result in more snaps for fellow tight ends Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.
Dec 27, 2023
No practice Wednesday
Kmet (knee) will not practice Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet is dealing with a knee injury sustained during Sunday's 27-16 win over the Cardinals, in which he secured four of five targets for 107 yards despite playing just 43 percent of offensive snaps before departing. With Darnell Mooney (concussion) also absent Wednesday, Chicago becomes thin in terms of pass-catchers behind DJ Moore. Kmet will have two more chances to get on the practice field ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Falcons.
Dec 24, 2023
Leaves with knee injury
Kmet injured his knee in Sunday's game against the Cardinals and is questionable to return.
ANALYSIS
Kmet racked up four receptions and 107 yards in the first half of Sunday's contest, but he also picked up an injury somewhere along the way, and it remains to be seen if he will return to the game.
Dec 24, 2023
Suiting up Sunday
Kmet (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The Bears tacked Kmet on to their Week 16 injury report Thursday as limited due to a quadriceps injury, and he maintained that activity level Friday before entering the weekend as questionable. Now that he's confirmed as active, he'll extend his streak to 65 straight appearances to begin his career. Since Justin Fields returned to action Week 11 following a four-game absence due to a dislocated right thumb, Kmet has gathered in 20 of 24 targets for 152 yards and one touchdown over the last four contests.
Dec 24, 2023
Expected to suit up Sunday
Kmet (quadriceps), who is officially listed as questionable, is expected to suit up Sunday versus the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet hasn't yet missed a game this season, and he's expected to keep his streak intact Week 16 at home against Arizona. Official confirmation of the tight end's status will arrive 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Kmet is averaging seven targets per game across his last seven appearances, and he's on pace to finish out the season with career-high marks across the board.
Dec 22, 2023
Questionable to face Cardinals
Kmet (quadriceps) remained limited at Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant, marking his first listing of any kind since the first week of November. His ability to practice in any capacity Friday suggests the quad injury isn't serious, though the timing might still be a problem when it comes to his availability/contributions this Sunday. The Bears and Cardinals are scheduled for a late-afternoon kickoff Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET, with Robert Tonyan set up to get most of the routes and targets and tight end if Kmet is inactive.
Dec 21, 2023
Limited due to quad injury
Kmet was a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a quadricep injury.
ANALYSIS
Kmet wasn't listed Wednesday on the Bears' initial Week 16 injury report, so his limited participation Thursday could be indicative of a setback that occurred during practice. If Kmet is able to get back on the field in some capacity Friday, it would alleviate some of the concern about his status heading into Sunday's game against Arizona.
Dec 17, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 15 loss
Kmet caught five of seven targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year tight end was on the other end of Justin Fields' only TD pass of the day, a five-yard toss in the first quarter. Kmet wound up leading the Bears in catches despite his modest yardage, and he's already put together a career-best campaign with 66 catches and 571 receiving yards through 14 games. He'll look to keep building on those numbers in Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Dec 10, 2023
Seven targets in victory
Kmet caught five passes for 66 yards in the Bears' 28-13 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet took advantage of a coverage bust by the Lions on a 41-yard catch and run. Otherwise, he gave Justin Fields a solid possession receiver and complement to top-receiver DJ Moore. Kmet has only found the end zone in one of his last seven games, though he posted at least 43 yards in four of his last five games. He'll remain a weekly floor play capable of going on a touchdown streak at any time.
Nov 28, 2023
Boosts catch total in win
Kmet brought in all seven targets for 43 yards in the Bears' 12-10 win over the Vikings on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was second in receptions, receiving yards and targets for the Bears on the night, although he only averaged 6.1 yards per catch. Nevertheless, it was a nice resurgence for the fourth-year pro after he'd underwhelmed with a 3-20 line in Week 11 against the Lions, and with 56 receptions for 482 yards heading into a Week 13 bye, Kmet is within striking distance of the career-best 60-612 line he put up back in 2021.
Nov 19, 2023
Disappointing production in defeat
Kmet caught three passes for 20 yards in the Bears' 31-26 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet had recorded at least 45 yards in each of his prior three games. However, that production occurred when Tyson Bagent was the starting quarterback. Despite the unimpressive fantasy performance, Kmet should rebound soon, as he posted at least 38 yards in four of his first five games he played with Justin Fields earlier in the season.
Nov 9, 2023
Five grabs in Week 10 win
Kmet brought in five of seven targets for 45 yards in the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Four days after posting a two-touchdown tally in Week 9, Kmet didn't turn in quite as productive a performance but still tied DJ Moore for the team lead in receptions while checking in second in both receiving yards and targets. Kmet now has at least five catches in three consecutive contests and seemingly has a good chance of getting Justin Fields (thumb) back as his quarterback for a Week 11 divisional road showdown against the Lions on Nov. 19.
Nov 7, 2023
Upgraded to full Tuesday
Kmet (knee) was upgraded to a full participant on Tuesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was listed as DNP on Monday's report, but it sounds like it was more of a rest day following his two-touchdown Week 9 against the Saints. He has five touchdown catches across his last six games and will continue to be an every-down tight end for Thursday night's Week 10 date with the Panthers.
Nov 6, 2023
Listed as non-participant Monday
Kmet (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
The Bears conducted a walk-through Monday, but with Kmet logging a 'DNP' designation, the tight end's status is now worth monitoring ahead of Thursday night's game against the Panthers. Added context regarding Kmet's Week 10 availability will arrive when Tuesday's injury report is posted, but in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Saints, Kmet was on the field for 58 of the Bears' 68 snaps on offense, while catching six of his eight targets for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Nov 5, 2023
Scores twice in Week 9 loss
Kmet brought in six of eight targets for 55 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was a big first-half factor, bringing in 18- and nine-yard scoring grabs in the first and second quarters, respectively. The sure-handed tight end continued to be productive throughout the afternoon and finished as the team leader in receptions while checking in second in receiving yards. Kmet and rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent have enjoyed excellent chemistry in the last two games -- the former has posted a 16-134-2 line on 18 targets in that span -- but Justin Fields (thumb) could be back under center for Thursday night's Week 10 matchup against the Panthers.
Oct 30, 2023
Corrals all 10 targets on SNF
Kmet brought in all 10 of his targets for 79 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet turned out to be one of the few bright spots for Chicago's offense in a game that understandably got out of hand for a rebuilding team that was starting an undrafted free agent under center. The tight end set new high-water marks in both targets and receptions Sunday after being held catchless in last week's win over Las Vegas. Kmet still owns a solid 35-319-3 receiving line through eight games with Chicago this year despite having inconsistent play under center. The tight end's fantasy value should receive a shot in the arm when starter Justin Fields returns from injury, with the next opportunity for that scenario coming against New Orleans in Week 9.
Oct 22, 2023
Shut out in victory
Kmet was not targeted in the Bears' 30-12 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After recording at least 38 yards in four of his first five games, Kmet has a total of nine yards over his last two games. His recent slump coincides with Justin Fields' thumb injury, and it's possible that Kmet doesn't regain his consistency until Fields is back in action.
Oct 15, 2023
Held to two catches in loss
Kmet brought in two of three targets for nine yards in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The trusted tight end couldn't get anything going when Justin Fields was in the game, and Kmet's day predictably didn't improve once undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent took over under center. Kmet's yardage total was a season low, and if Fields is forced to miss any further time, former's production could certainly be affected.
Oct 13, 2023
Avoids injury designation
Kmet (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Kmet should be ready for his usual workload after upgrading to full practice participation Friday. His volume and production both are up through the first five weeks of the season, with 29 targets and 231 receiving yards putting well behind wideout DJ Moore and far ahead of all the other Chicago pass catchers. A glut of running back injuries could lead the Bears to pass more than usual this week, or at least use quarterback Justin Fields more as a runner.
Oct 12, 2023
Stays limited in practice
Kmet (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's reps were capped for the second practice in a row, and he may need to upgrade to full participation Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Vikings. Through the Bears' first five games, Kmet has performed as one of the league's better fantasy tight ends with a 23-231-3 receiving line on 29 targets.
Oct 11, 2023
Tending to hamstring issue
Kmet was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to Week 6 prep, Kmet was untouched by injury this season, allowing him to record a 23-231-3 line on 29 targets in five games. With a health concern in tow, his activity level will be one to monitor as the week goes on to ensure it won't impact his availability for Sunday's contest against the Vikings. Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis are the other tight ends on the Bears' active roster.
Oct 6, 2023
Finds end zone again Thursday
Kmet secured all five targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday night. He also committed a fumble but recovered it.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's sudden touchdown surge extended to a second game, as he found the end zone on a four-yard grab just before halftime four days after crossing the goal line twice in a Week 4 loss to the Broncos. The fifth-year tight end hadn't scored in the first three games of the season, but he's now recorded at least four catches in four of five contests to open the campaign. He could have a good chance of continuing to serve as a force in the red zone against a vulnerable Vikings pass defense during a Week 6 home NFC North matchup on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Oct 1, 2023
Pair of touchdowns in loss
Kmet brought in seven of nine targets for 85 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was second in receptions and receiving yards on the afternoon for Chicago with what were also season-high figures. The fourth-year pro's pair of scoring grabs, which came from 22 and three yards out in the second quarter, featured some nifty work from Kmet in conjunction with a scrambling Justin Fields. Kmet typically has a handful of productive games per season, so Sunday's numbers aren't a complete surprise. However, they may also not be easily replicable, but Kmet will aim to carry his momentum over into a Week 5 Thursday night matchup against the Commanders.
Sep 24, 2023
Snags two passes
Kmet caught two passes for 22 yards in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
In a game that Justin Fields threw for just 99 yards, Kmet was second on the team with his 22 yards. Going into this game, Chicago passed for at least 200 yards in their previous two contests, so Kmet should return closer to the 41 yards he was averaging. However, the lack of scoring by the Bears offense could limit Kmet's touchdown upside.
Sep 17, 2023
Another steady performance
Kmet caught four passes for 38 yards in the Bears' 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was third on the team with six targets after tying for the team lead with seven in Week 1. Although the Bears have not had much offensive success through two weeks, Kmet's volume could give him a reasonable weekly scoring floor.
Sep 10, 2023
Makes five grabs
Kmet caught five of seven targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers. He also rushed once for zero yards.
ANALYSIS
Kmet tied with two others for Chicago's team lead in targets, but his production mostly came in garbage time. With quarterback Justin Fields still unproven as a downfield passer, Kmet holds moderate value as an underneath option, with added upside in the red zone after seven touchdowns last term.
Aug 26, 2023
Quiet in preseason finale
Kmet finished without a catch on one target in Saturday's preseason game against Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Kmet played three drives and had his one catch wiped out by a penalty on a teammate. He's locked in as Chicago's top tight end ahead of a Week 1 matchup with Green Bay, joining WRs DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney as one of the top receiving options for third-year QB Justin Fields.
Aug 24, 2023
Back at practice Thursday
Kmet (undisclosed) was practicing in full Thursday, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet left Wednesday's practice early due to an unspecified issue, but Lieser reports Kmet's Thursday practice looked "normal." It sounds like a non-issue for the Bears' top tight end.
Aug 23, 2023
Leaves practice early
Kmet departed Wednesday's practice early on a cart, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet seems to have suffered an injury at practice Wednesday, though any details as to the severity or specifics remain undisclosed. The tight end is fresh off a four-year extension and looks locked into a key role on offense for the Bears, with the potential of emerging as one of Justin Fields' favorite targets, so his health will warrant monitoring closely.
Aug 15, 2023
Potential receiving weapon
Kmet could be second on the Bears in receptions, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After signing a big contract extension, Kmet is expected to be a core part of the Bears offense. He also provides the team with a big target in the middle of the field. Expect the team to use plenty of two tight end packages, and Robert Tonyan will play quite a bit, but Kmet has a chance of being a featured part of the passing game.
Jul 26, 2023
Inks big four-year extension
Kmet signed a four-year, $50 million contract extension with the Bears on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's new deal reportedly includes $32.8 million guaranteed and $20 million in new first-year cash, a nice payday for the 2020 second-round pick. The move provides some additional surrounding stability for budding star Justin Fields, who showed a solid rapport with Kmet in 2022 as the tight end compiled a 50-544-7 receiving line in 17 contests. Chicago added Robert Tonyan to the tight end room this offseason, but Kmet's extension is a clear sign that the team is committed to him in the long term.
Mar 17, 2023
Gets new backup
Kmet could lose some snaps after the Bears added Robert Tonyan in free agency Thursday, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet played at least 91 percent of the snaps in 14 games last year. Although that percentage may not dip much, Tonyan is familiar with the Bears offense from his days in Green Bay, when Chicago's offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was his coach. Kmet should retain close to a full snap share, but with Tonyan having caught at least 52 passes in two of the last three seasons, Kmet could lose occasional targets. However, this move should not have much impact on Kmet's fantasy value.
Jan 8, 2023
Underwhelms in 2022
Kmet caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 50 receptions, 544 yards and seven touchdowns over 17 games played.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet easily set his career high in touchdowns, it was a disappointing season after he had 612 yards in 2021. Of course, the passing offense was broken for much of the season, and at no point, was it a high-volume passing attack. He went on a scoring binge between Weeks 8 and 10, scoring five times, but he then didn't score over the following five games. His future fantasy value will be dependent upon whether the Bears will be able to improve their overall passing attack. He's under contract with the team through the 2023 season.
Jan 1, 2023
Salvages fantasy day with touchdown
Kmet caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet scored in the first quarter, but was targeted twice the rest of the way in a game that the Bears consistently struggled to move the chains. He's scored a touchdown in four of his last seven games, and he should continue to be a borderline top-12 tight end next week at home against the Vikings.
Dec 24, 2022
Leads team in receptions
Kmet caught five passes for 27 yards in the Bears' 35-13 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet led the Bears with six targets, but the Bills were excellent at keeping the Chicago pass catchers from gaining much yardage after the catch. He's failed to reach 36 yards in four of his last five games, but he'll face a Detroit defense in Week 17 that he posted 74 yards and scored twice against earlier in the year. That past performance will make him worth consideration when setting fantasy lineups next week.
Dec 18, 2022
Team-high four catches in Week 15
Kmet caught four of five targets in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kmet led the team in targets and catches, but the tight end failed to break free for a gain longer than seven yards. A five-touchdown surge over a three-game span from Weeks 8-10 accounts for all of Kmet's touchdowns in 31 appearances since the start of last season. Kmet and the Bears will host the Bills in Week 16.
Dec 4, 2022
Season high versus Packers
Kmet caught six of seven targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 28-19 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's reception total marked a season high, leading the Bears in the category. Over the last six weeks, the former second-round pick has topped 70 yards twice while scoring five times as well. Although Chicago has not won a game during that stretch, the tight end has at least improved his individual output lately.
Nov 27, 2022
Limited production in loss
Kmet caught two passes for 27 yards in the Bears' 31-10 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Justin Fields (shoulder) sitting out, Trevor Siemian threw six passes to Kmet, leading the team. But with the Bears struggling to move the ball after their first few drives, there was very little production in the passing game to go around. It's unlikely that Kmet reaches his weekly fantasy value until Fields returns to the lineup.
Nov 20, 2022
TD streak halted at three games
Kmet caught three of four targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's first target resulted in one of the catches of the year, as he made a spectacular one-handed grab through contact for a 24-yard gain. The tight end didn't make much of an impact the rest of the way, though, as the Bears finished with 41 runs and just 21 passes. Kmet failed to find the end zone after scoring five touchdowns over his previous three games, but he'll look to start a new touchdown streak when the Bears take on the Jets in Week 12.
Nov 18, 2022
No injury designation
Kmet (thigh) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Chicago, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was absent Wednesday and limited Thursday before ultimately logging a full practice. He caught five touchdown passes the past three weeks after a 27-game streak without one, and while the TD parade can't last forever, he does face another subpar defense this Sunday, playing in a dome against the Falcons.
Nov 17, 2022
Returns as limited participant
Kmet (thigh) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from being held out Wednesday due to a thigh injury, Kmet returned to the field and managed to log some reps. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will reveal if he'll carry a designation into the weekend ahead of Sunday's contest in Atlanta. If he's able to suit up, Kmet will be looking to keep up his hot streak, which has amounted to an 11-126-5 line on 15 targets over the last three games.

Dealing with thigh issue
Kmet missed Wednesday's practice due to a thigh injury.
ANALYSIS
Along with quarterback Justin Fields, Kmet has been on fire the past three games, gathering in 11 of 15 targets for 126 yards and five touchdowns during that stretch. With five TDs on the campaign, Kmet also ranks third among true tight ends in the NFL behind Travis Kelce (eight) and Mark Andrews (six). There's no telling if Kmet's current health concern threatens his availability for Sunday's game in Atlanta, but his status will continue to be watched as the week goes on.
Nov 13, 2022
Two more trips to end zone
Kmet caught four of seven targets for 74 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Justin Fields' sudden surge of passing production has benefitted Kmet the most -- of the quarterback's seven TDs through the air over the last three games, the tight end has been on the other end of five of them. Kmet's 74 yards were also a season high, although most of them came on a 50-yard touchdown in the third quarter after a busted coverage by the Detroit secondary. The 2020 second-round pick will look to continue his scoring binge in Week 11 against the Falcons.
Nov 6, 2022
Two more scores in loss
Kmet secured five of six targets for 41 yards and two touchdowns and rushed twice for nine yards in the Bears' 35-32 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was second or tied for second in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon for the Bears, but his pair of touchdown grabs made it a prolific fantasy day overall for the previously struggling tight end. Kmet, whose scores came from 18 and four yards in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, now has three trips to the end zone over the last two contests, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 10 home divisional matchup against the Lions.
Oct 30, 2022
Scores first touchdown of season
Kmet caught two passes for 11 yards and a touchdown In the Bears' 49-29 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet had his lowest yardage output since Week 2, he finally found the end zone. With two or fewer catches in each of his last three games, he remains a a low-floor, low-upside fantasy option.
Oct 25, 2022
Targeted three times
Kmet caught two passes for 32 yards in the Bears 33-14 win over the Patriots on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet has played at least 90 percent of the snaps in each of the last five games, he's been targeted just three or four times in each of those contests. With just 148 yards and no touchdowns through Week 7, he'll continue to have limited upside unless the Chicago offense begins to throw the ball more often.
Oct 14, 2022
Minor role in loss
Kmet caught one pass for 15 yards in the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Even though Justin Fields threw a season-high 27 passes, Kmet was targeted just three times. He's failed to surpass 16 yards in four of six games while not posting more than 46 yards in any game. Unless he sees a significant change in his role, he'll remain a low-floor option for fantasy.
Oct 9, 2022
Catches all targets
Kmet caught all four of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 29-22 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Kmet secured every pass thrown his way, helping him post a season high in receiving yardage. Although he's now topped 40 yards in two of Chicago's last three games, his stock remains relatively mild ahead of Week 6's matchup versus the Commanders on Thursday night, especially without a touchdown to his name thus far.
Oct 2, 2022
Season high receptions
Kmet caught three passes for 13 yards in the Bears' 20-12 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet tied for second on the Bears in targets with three, as Justin Fields threw 22 passes, which was Fields' highest total of the season. With five catches for 33 yards over four games, Kmet has been a disappointment for those who drafted him as a top-10 tight end.
Sep 25, 2022
Leading receiver in Week 3 win
Kmet caught two of three targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Kmet nearly doubled the receiving yardage total of Darnell Mooney, who finished second on the team with 23 yards. That stat is much more of an indictment on Chicago's passing game than a compliment to Kmet, who came into the game without a catch on the season. Kmet will look to build on this performance in Week 4 against the Giants.
Sep 19, 2022
Blanked again
Kmet failed to catch a pass in the Bears' 27-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has been targeted once in each game, though Justin Fields attempted just 11 passes against Green Bay, which resulted in 70 yards, so there wasn't much production to go around. After starting the season against two outstanding defenses, the schedule should lighten significantly, which should lead to Kmet showing fast improvement.
Sep 11, 2022
Blanked in opener
Kmet failed to catch his lone target in the Bears' 19-10 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Not only did Kmet see quite a bit of 49ers' coverage ace Fred Warner, but the wet field was a disaster while intermittent heavy rain fell during the game. He'll look to get on track next week when Chicago travels to Green Bay.
Aug 27, 2022
Scores in preseason finale
Kmet caught three receptions for 36 yards and one touchdown on three targets in Chicago's preseason game against Cleveland on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's first two NFL seasons faced plenty of struggles, but he's still just 23 years old and possesses above-average athleticism at a big build. As much as the Bears might throw poorly and infrequently in 2022, Kmet's projection gets a boost for the fact that he might be the second-leading target behind Darnell Mooney.
Aug 27, 2022
May play Saturday
Kmet and the Bears' starting offense are expected to play the entire first half Saturday against the Browns,
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt Eberflus had his starters on the field for limited action during the first two preseason games, but he expects to give them much more work in the preseason finale. Kmet caught two passes for 31 yards in one drive with Justin Fields in last week's game, and he'll look to build on that chemistry against Cleveland.
Aug 21, 2022
Not expected to play Saturday
Kmet is unlikely to take the field Saturday in the preseason finale against the Browns, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bears are expected to rest their starters to avoid injury in a meaningless game. Unless the coaching staff changes course, we'll see Kmet in Week 1 against the 49ers.
Aug 19, 2022
Two catches in return
Kmet (undisclosed) caught two of three targets for 31 yards in Thursday's 27-11 preseason win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Kmet suited up for the game's opening series after sitting out Chicago's preseason opener. The 23-year-old tight end picked up 12 yards on the game's first play from scrimmage and added a 19-yard reception later on the drive. Both of Kmet's catches came from starting quarterback Justin Fields, as all three of Fields, Kmet and Darnell Mooney were on the field together for the opening drive before taking the remainder of the night off. Kmet and the Bears have one more preseason game left on the schedule, Aug. 27 in Cleveland.
Aug 16, 2022
Status for Thursday is uncertain
Kmet (undisclosed) missed last week's game, but if he's cleared, he could be on the field for six-to-10 plays in Thursday's game against the Seahawks Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet did return to practice Monday, though it's unclear if he'll be active. Coach Matt Eberflus said some guys would be on the field for 20 plays. So if Kmet takes, the field, his snaps will likely be limited to the ranges Eberflus cited.
Aug 11, 2022
Dealing with minor injury
Kmet is day-to-day with an unspecified injury and isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Locked in as Chicago's top tight end, Kmet may still need to answer questions about production and performance but doesn't face any kind of serious challenge for snaps. His absence could free up a bit more work for middling veterans Ryan Griffin and James O'Shaughnessy.
Aug 9, 2022
Working toward breakout season
Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy believes Kmet can be a rock star on offense, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet ranked eighth in tight-end targets last year with 93, he failed to score a touchdown. However, with favored red-zone tight end Jimmy Graham no longer on the team, it's likely that Kmet will see more looks in the end zone. Getsy pointed out that Kmet is starting to use the 'really cool tools' he has. He's lining up out wide, working in line as well as blocking. The coach also believes Kmet is on the brink of taking his game to another level. It's possible that the tight end could emerge as the second-most reliable receiving option on the Bears after Darnell Mooney. Currently being drafted just outside the top-10 tight ends in average fantasy drafts, if Kmet takes a big step forward in his third season, he could be a draft-day bargain.
Jul 11, 2022
Preparing for key role
Kmet anticipates having a large role in the passing game under new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, John Schrock of NBC Sports Chicagoreports.
ANALYSIS
Getsy comes over from Green Bay, where he mostly worked with mediocre tight ends but did help coordinate a prolific 2020 passing attack with QB Aaron Rodgers throwing 48 TDs and TE Robert Tonyan scoring 11 TDs of them on only 59 targets. Kmet got 93 targets last season under a different coaching staff, but his 60 catches produced only 612 yards (10.2 YPC, 6.6 YPT) and nary a touchdown. While the 2020 second-round pick has shown some potential as a chain-mover, he's scored just once on 18 career red-zone targets and has only one gain of more than 25 yards. Development from QB Justin Fields would go a long way in helping with the lack of big plays and TDs, and there is some volume upside for Kmet in a Chicago offense with subpar options at wide receiver behind undersized No. 1 Darnell Mooney.
Jan 9, 2022
Five targets in season finale
Kmet caught four passes for 48 yards in the Bears' 31-17 Week 18 loss to the Vikings, and he ended the season with 60 receptions for 612 yards.
ANALYSIS
As a rookie in 2020, Kmet started to become a significant part of the offense down the stretch, and he built on that this year, more than doubling his targets, receptions and yardage in his sophomore campaign. He'll enter the third year of his four-year rookie deal in 2022, and he could be viewed as a breakout option if Jimmy Graham doesn't return, as that could potentially lead to more red-zone targets for Kmet. He's likely to be selected as a top-18 tight end in 2022.
Jan 2, 2022
Comes up small in victory
Kmet caught two of four targets for 25 yards in the Bears' 29-3 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet finished third on the team in targets, but the Chicago passing attack was inefficient, and Darnell Mooney was the only Bears' pass catcher who had success in this contest. With at least three receptions in each of his last six games, he'll have a solid scoring floor in Week 18 against the Vikings.
Dec 26, 2021
Solid performance
Kmet caught four passes for 49 yards in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was quiet throughout the first half before posting production while the Bears were mounting a late comeback. Although he didn't score, he was overthrown by Nick Foles in the end zone, and he was later upstaged by fellow tight end Jimmy Graham, who scored his third red-zone touchdown over the Bears' last five games. With at least 41 yards in four of his last five games, Kmet will be a high-floor fantasy option in Week 17 against the Giants.
Dec 20, 2021
Leads team in receiving
Kmet caught six passes for 71 yards in the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Vikings on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet led the Bears in targets and he frequently had plenty of room to operate in the middle of the field that helped him post a solid yardage total. He was also open for a potential touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, but Justin Fields threw the ball behind where it needed to be, and the ball was knocked away. Although he hasn't scored all year, he's posted at least 41 yards in three of his last four games, and he'll be a potential fantasy starter for the duration of the fantasy playoffs.
Dec 17, 2021
Back on field
Kmet (illness) was a full participant in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was one of eight Bears who didn't take part in Thursday's walk-through session on account of an illness. All but one of those players returned to the field Friday as full participants, temporarily alleviating some concern about a team-wide COVID-19 breakout. With that in mind, Kmet looks in line to fill his normal role as the Bears' starting tight end Monday against the Vikings.
Dec 16, 2021
Dealing with illness
Kmet was held out of Thursday's walkthrough due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
While Kmet was one of eight Bears to miss the session for this reason, the team placed five players, including fellow tight end Jesse James (undisclosed), on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. As for the rest of the TE room, Jimmy Graham was listed as limited due to a knee issue and Jesper Horsted also sat out with an illness, making J.P. Holtz the only healthy member of the position group at the moment.
Dec 13, 2021
Targeted five times in defeat
Kmet caught three passes for 17 yards in the Bears' 45-30 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Bears scoring 30 points, the Packers bottled up each of the Bears' primary weapons, which included Kmet, who was held to fewer than 20 yards for just the second time since Week 4. With at least three receptions in seven of his last eight games, his value is elevated in leagues that award a point per reception.
Dec 5, 2021
Targeted seven times
Kmet caught three passes for 41 yards in the Bears' 33-22 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Although Kmet had seven targets compared to one for Jimmy Graham, it was Kmet throwing the block that allowed Graham to score an easy goal-line touchdown. Over the past four games, Kmet is averaging 51 yards, but he hasn't scored a touchdown all year while Graham has recently been seeing regular red-zone targets, which limits Kmet's upside, though he's become a player who has become a reasonable starting fantasy option.
Dec 3, 2021
Groin no longer bothersome
Kmet (groin) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Kmet trended in the right direction throughout the week, as he missed practice Wednesday before upgrading to a limited session Thursday and practicing fully Friday to gain clearance. The 22-year-old tight end is still searching for his first touchdown of the season, but he has topped 65 receiving yards twice in the past three games after failing to reach 50 in any of his first 24 contests. With quarterback Justin Fields (ribs) doubtful, Kmet will likely be catching passes from Andy Dalton against Arizona.
Dec 2, 2021
Returns to practice Thursday
Kmet (groin) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was among a handful of Bears skill-position players to sit out Wednesday, but he was the only one of them to fit in some activity one day later. He seems to be trending in the right direction, but Friday's injury report will be key to determining whether he may be available Sunday against the Cardinals.
Dec 1, 2021
Tending to groin issue
Kmet (groin) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet, a 2020 draftee, has flashed his second-round talent at times this season, including last Thursday in Detroit, where he hauled in eight of 11 targets for 65 yards. But he emerged from the contest with a groin issue, which will need to be watched this week to get a sense of his status for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Nov 25, 2021
Leads Bears in catches in win
Kmet caught eight of 11 targets for 65 yards in a 16-14 win over the Lions on Thanksgiving.
ANALYSIS
The second-year tight end set a new career high in receptions and targets, as quarterback Andy Dalton has few healthy options at wide receiver other than Darnell Mooney, who also had a big game. Kmet has only topped 50 receiving yards twice in 11 games this season but both performances have come in the last three contests, giving him some momentum heading into a Week 13 clash with the Cardinals.
Nov 21, 2021
Comes up small
Kmet caught one pass for 12 yards in the Bears' 16-13 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After being targeted at least five times in his previous four games, Kmet's two targets fell one short of teammate Jimmy Graham's total. Despite the weak output in this contest, Kmet should be in the mix as a top-12 tight end going forward.
Nov 9, 2021
Leads team in receiving
Kmet caught six of eight targets for 87 yards in Monday night's 29-27 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet led the Bears in all major receiving categories, turning in the best performance of his early career. The second-year pro showed a strong connection with quarterback Justin Fields, hooking up for gains of 25 and 21 yards during the first half. With at least six targets in three straight games, Kmet's role in Chicago's offense has expanded as the team now enters its bye week.
Oct 31, 2021
Catches half of targets
Kmet caught three passes for 24 yards in the Bears' 33-22 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was second on the team with six targets, but aside from a 16-yard reception, he had a quiet afternoon. He's yet to score a touchdown or reach 50 yards in a game this season, making him a low-upside fantasy option.
Oct 24, 2021
Leads team in receiving
Kmet caught five passes for 43 yards in the Bears' 38-3 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet wasn't a factor until he collected a few catches once the game was out of hand in the second half, and he led the team in all receiving categories, including six targets. He's posted at least 40 yards in back-to-back games and a total of three times on the season, and he's beginning to emerge as a streaming option at tight end.
Oct 17, 2021
Highest yardage total of season
Kmet caught four passes for 49 yards in the Bears' 24-14 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet surpassed 22 yards for the first time since Week 1, but he's been targeted at least four times in four different contests. If he can continue to build on his current target totals, his yardage totals should continue to climb. However, until he puts together another solid performance or two, he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.
Oct 3, 2021
Targeted three times
Kmet caught one pass for six yards in the Bears' 24-14 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Chicago leading throughout, Justin Fields threw the ball just 17 times, and Kmet was second on the team with three targets, but he didn't turn his chances into useful production. He's now caught three passes for 17 yards over his last three games, and unless his role changes, or the team's passing game improves, he won't be a recommended fantasy option.
Sep 26, 2021
Targeted four times
Kmet caught one pass for 11 yards in the Bears' 26-6 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
For the second week in a row, Kmet caught just a single pass, and despite playing a majority of the snaps, his playing time has yet to turn into tangible production. On the season, he's averaging 18 yards per game, and until he begins to show improved production, he'll be a risky fantasy option.
Sep 19, 2021
Invisible in victory
Kmet failed to corral his only target in the Bears' 20-17 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With the Bears leading for most of the game, they threw the ball just 24 times, and Kmet was the only Bears' tight end to see a target. After being targeted seven times in Week 1, fantasy managers can likely expect him to be more active in future weeks, but he's yet to show signs of being a reliable weekly fantasy option.
Sep 13, 2021
Starts, finishes with five catches
Kmet had five receptions (seven targets) for 42 yards in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Kmet took over as the starting job in Chicago this season, and he responded with a solid performance, even finishing second in targets. Veteran tight end Jimmy Graham only saw two targets, so it appears the timeshare will favor the younger tight end heavily. No player finished with more than 45 receiving yards against the Rams' tough defense, so those hoping for a breakout performance from the 2020 second-round pick will have to wait another week. Kmet and the Bears will have a softer matchup against the Bengals in Week 2.
Aug 25, 2021
Returns to practice
Kmet (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a sign of progress, though the Bears are holding a light practice with no pads Wednesday morning, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. Kmet has been dealing with the hamstring injury since last week, missing Chicago's second preseason game after he caught one pass for three yards in the first. He should lead the team's tight ends in snaps this year, but splitting targets with Jimmy Graham probably won't work out great for either player from a fantasy standpoint.
Aug 21, 2021
Not in uniform Saturday
Kmet (hamstring) wasn't in uniform for Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
With Biggs adding that he expects to see Jimmy Graham play sparingly Saturday, added TE looks figure to be available for Jesse James, Jesper Horsted and Scooter Harrington
Aug 18, 2021
Dealing with hamstring issue
Kmet missed Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Adam Hoge of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet scattered nine starts about a 16-game rookie campaign in which he turned it on down the stretch, compiling most of his 28-243-2 line on 44 targets across his last six appearances. The Bears opened the preseason slate Saturday against the Dolphins in 12 personnel with Kmet and veteran Jimmy Graham at tight end and David Montgomery in the backfield, forecasting his expected role for the upcoming campaign. Now with an injury in tow, though, Kmet may not see game action again until Week 1 with his health in mind.
Aug 15, 2021
Catches one pass
Kmet caught one of two targets for three yards in Saturday's preseason win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
The Bears opened in a two-WR, two-TE formation with Kmet, TE Jimmy Graham, RB David Montgomery, WR Darnell Mooney and WR Damiere Byrd. It should be a common look for them this season, albeit with Allen Robinson instead of Byrd in the WR1 spot. The team's decision to retain Graham put a major ding in Kmet's breakout case, but the 2020 second-round pick still has a chance to take a big step forward, playing in an offense that's doesn't have much at wide receiver behind Robinson/Mooney. In fact, Kmet accounted for two of Andy Dalton's four passes Saturday afternoon, while rookie QB Justin Fields mostly threw to his WRs and RBs. The Bears' next preseason game is Aug. 21 against Buffalo, and their regular-season opener is Sept. 12 at the Rams.
Jul 1, 2021
Praised by Jimmy Graham
Teammate Jimmy Graham believes Kmet has a bright future in the NFL, Larry Mayer of the Bears official website reports. "[Kmet]'s just a special kid," Graham said. "For him, there's truly no ceiling. He can be as good as he wants to be."
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old may be right about Kmet's future, but it'll be tough for the young tight end to make good on his potential if Graham is still on the roster. While some assumed Graham would be released or forced to take a pay cut this offseason, he's currently still under contract with the Bears for a non-guaranteed $7 million base salary. The team has dropped multiple hints about keeping Graham around, potentially relegating Kmet to a timeshare again. The 43rd overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft played 56.3 percent of Chicago's offensive snaps last season, yet finished with only 28/243/2 on 44 targets. Kmet's upside scenario for 2021 probably requires Graham to be pushed out of the picture somehow.
Jan 10, 2021
Quiet in playoff debut
Kmet caught three passes for 16 yards in Chicago's 21-9 loss to the Saints in the wild-card round.
ANALYSIS
Kmet had all three of his receptions in the first half and wasn't heard from afterwards in a game the Bears were dominated in time of possession, resulting in limited opportunities. After being an afterthought in the offense through the first 12 games of the season, he was targeted at least six times in four of the last five regular-season games, ending the season with 29 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He'll enter 2021 in the second of a four-year contract, and he'll likely be an emerging fantasy force as the team's lead tight end who's expected to play a three-down role.
Jan 3, 2021
Targeted eight times in defeat
Kmet caught seven passes for 41 yards in the Bears' 35-16 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was third on the team with eight targets, and he was an important part of a ball-control attack designed to keep the Packers offense off the field. After being an afterthought in the offense through the first 12 games of the season, he was targeted at least six times in four of the last five games, ending the season with 29 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns. After the Bears complete their playoff run, he'll enter the second of a four-year contract, and he'll likely be an emerging fantasy force as the team's lead tight end.
Jan 3, 2021
Ready for regular-season finale
Kmet (shoulder) is active for Sunday's matchup against Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
The rookie tight end gets the green light for Chicago's Week 17 matchup, as the Bears aim to clinch a second playoff trip in three years with a win over their division rivals. Kmet didn't have any reported issues coming out of last Sunday's win over the Jaguars, but he was labeled questionable for the regular-season finale after submitting limited practices Thursday and Friday. Officially active for his 16th appearance of the year, Kmet enters the regular-season finale with a stat line of 21 receptions, 202 yards and two TDs.
Jan 1, 2021
Questionable for Week 17
Kmet (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was a full practice participant Wednesday before logging limited sessions Thursday and Friday. He's played at least 78 percent of offensive snaps in five straight games, and there hasn't been any suggestion he's in serious danger of missing Sunday's all-important contest. The increased playing time hasn't resulted in much production, with Kmet averaging 2.8 catches for 23.2 yards and 0.2 TDs on 5.0 targets the past five weeks.
Dec 31, 2020
Downgraded to limited
Kmet (shoulder) was held to limited participation during Thursday's practice session.
ANALYSIS
The second-round rookie hasn't missed a game all season, and his Thursday appearance on the injury report was notable given that he submitted a full session the day prior. There have been no reported shoulder issues to this point in the season for Kmet, though he did deal with back and groin injuries that curtailed his practice involvement in October and November. Kmet's Friday status may go a long way towards clarifying the tight end's availability for a crucial Sunday afternoon home game against Green Bay.
Dec 27, 2020
Fails to capitalize on targets
Kmet caught two passes for 16 yards in the Bears' 41-17 victory over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was targeted six times, but Jimmy Graham was the tight end who was targeted on both of Mitch Tubisky's touchdown passes. In addition, Kmet was given a rushing attempt from the goal line, but he was tackled for a three-yard loss. Despite seeing increased target volume over the last four weeks, he's averaging 27 yards with one touchdown during that span, making him a touchdown-dependent fantasy option in Week 17 against the Packers.
Dec 20, 2020
Quiet in win
Kmet caught two passes for 12 yards in the Bears' 33-27 victory over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was targeted just twice, though with the Bears playing with a lead for the majority of this contest, they attempted just 21 passes, and the tight end failed to reach seven targets for the first time in three games. Although he's performed well lately, he's yet to surpass 45 yards in a game, making him a risky fantasy option in Week 16 against a weak Jacksonville defense.
Dec 13, 2020
Targeted seven times
Kmet caught four passes for 41 yards in the Bears' 36-7 win over the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet cemented his role as Chicago's lead tight end with his second straight seven-target performance, although it was Jimmy Graham who scored the only tight-end touchdown for the team. Despite his increased volume since Week 10, he's yet to surpass 45 yards in a game this season, making him a floor play during the fantasy playoffs.
Dec 6, 2020
Best game of career
Kmet caught five passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's 34-30 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
After failing to see more than three targets in any game during his rookie season, Kmet tied Allen Robinson for the team lead with seven targets while posting the only touchdown reception by a Chicago player. Coming into this game, he had been targeted three times in each of the prior two games, which was the same number of target seen by Jimmy Graham, and it appears that the rookie may be emerging as the team's top tight end, though until he shows more consistency, he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.
Nov 29, 2020
Minor receiving role
Kmet caught one pass for eight yards in Chicago's 41-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was targeted three times, including one on a deep pass down the middle of the field that was significantly off target. He's caught just three passes over the last four games, and unless he begins to show consistent production, he won't be a reliable fantasy option.
Nov 16, 2020
Targeted three times in loss
Kmet caught one pass for seven yards in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Vikings on Monday.
ANALYSIS
With just seven catches on the season, Kmet won't be a recommended fantasy option unless he begins to see a sharp increase in weekly production.
Nov 16, 2020
Available Week 10
Kmet (groin) is listed as active Monday against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Kmet managed just one limited practice before this game due to a groin injury, but he'll play through it for a second straight contest. In the Bears' Week 9 loss to the Titans, though, he was blanked in the box score and wasn't even targeted. On the season, Kmet is averaging less than a target per game, with Jimmy Graham leading the team's tight end group.

Deemed questionable for MNF
Kmet (groin) is considered questionable for Monday's game versus the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The second-round pick out of Notre Dame hasn't taken off this season, operating as the No. 2 behind Jimmy Graham. He's in danger of sitting out for the first time in his career, as he made his first practice appearance Saturday when he was a limited participant. Even with the progress he's made, the Bears may opt to rest Kmet with a Week 11 bye on the docket. If he is indeed out, Demetrius Harris and J.P. Holtz figure to see more playing time.

Misses second straight practice
Kmet (groin) didn't participate in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet missed a practice last week with a groin injury and was ultimately active for the Week 9 loss to Tennessee, but his status is uncertain once again after a second straight missed practice. The rookie second-rounder needs to get on the field in some capacity Saturday to have a shot at playing in Monday's divisional clash against the Vikings. Demetrius Harris and J.P. Holtz both stand to see increased usage behind starter Jimmy Graham if Kmet is forced to miss Week 10.

Held out Thursday
Kmet (groin) did not participate during the Bears' practice session Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The second-round rookie had been dealing with a groin issue entering Chicago's Week 9 matchup against Tennesee, but he was ultimately able to suit up and field a season-high 36 offensive snaps during the contest. Kmet was not reported as having aggravated the groin injury postgame, but the issue continues to linger and resultingly limit his practice involvement. Behind starter Jimmy Graham, longtime Chief Demetrius Harris would receive additional tight end snaps if Kmet is ultimately unable to go for Monday night's home game against Minnesota.

Active against Titans
Kmet (groin) is active Week 9 against Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Kmet's absence from Thursday's practice ultimately won't affect his gameday status, as the tight end will suit up in a seemingly regular capacity behind Jimmy Graham. He hasn't been much of a fantasy factor this year outside of a touchdown caught Week 6 against Carolina, as he's been without a catch in four of the eight games he's played.

Questionable for Sunday
Kmet (groin) is questionable for Sunday's game at Tennessee, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie second-round pick was added to the injury report Thursday as a non-participant, but he returned to practice Friday in a limited fashion. Demetrius Harris and J.P. Holtz would be in line for increased reps behind Jimmy Graham should Kmet be sidelined Sunday.
Nov 5, 2020
Tending to groin injury
Kmet (groin) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Kmet wasn't among the Bears' injured players Wednesday, so this 'DNP' is cause for concern with regard to his ability to suit up Sunday at Tennessee. If he's unable to go, any lingering TE reps behind Jimmy Graham will filter down to Demetrius Harris and J.P. Holtz.

One catch in OT loss to Saints
Kmet corralled his only target for two yards during Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Kmet dealt with a back injury and was reported as a limited participant in practice for the first time all season last Wednesday. The second-round rookie was able to recover with a full session the following day, ultimately recording his eighth appearance of 2020 Sunday against New Orleans. Despite him fielding a season-high 30 offensive snaps in the contest, Kmet's production against the Saints was a distant cry from the four catches, 65 yards and one touchdown he produced the preceding two outings.

Puts in full practice Thursday
Kmet (back) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has consistently played around 30 percent of the snaps on offense each week this season, but the rookie second-rounder only recently has been making an impact in the box score, gathering in all four targets for 65 yards and a TD over the last two games. He kicked off this week with a limited showing Wednesday but bucked the back injury on the second Week 8 practice report. While he'll continue to play second fiddle to starting TE Jimmy Graham, Kmet seems to be developing a rapport with starting quarterback Nick Foles.

Managing back injury
Kmet (back) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kmet is coming off the best game of his young career, having hauled in both his targets for 45 yards during Monday's loss to the Rams, but he appears to have also injured his back in the contest. The rookie tight end will work to resume practicing in full ahead of Sunday's tilt against the Saints.
Oct 26, 2020
Posts solid yardage
Kmet caught two passes for 45 yards in Chicago's 24-10 loss to the Rams on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet was targeted just twice, which placed him third in targets among the Bears' tight ends, though he hauled in a downfield pass for 38 yards, and he ended up posting the second-highest yardage total on the team. Although his production has been decent in each of the last two games, until he starts seeing more than two targets per game, he'll be tough to trust as a fantasy option.
Oct 18, 2020
Scores first career touchdown
Kmet caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 23-16 victory over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet got open between three defenders while catching a perfect pass from Nick Foles to score his first NFL touchdown, but the two targets he received equaled the total number of looks he had seen over the first four games. Until he sees a consistent increase in targets, his fantasy value will remain minimal.
Oct 13, 2020
Used as blocker Week 5
Kmet didn't draw any targets while playing 21 of the Bears' 63 offensive snaps (33 percent) in Thursday's 20-19 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has settled into the in-line blocking role at tight end that previously belonged to Adam Shaheen, who was traded to the Dolphins in July. With veteran Jimmy Graham proving to be a reliable safety valve in the passing game for Chicago thus far, the rookie second-round pick likely won't be in store for an uptick in targets so long as the former stays healthy.
Oct 4, 2020
Shut out again
Kmet failed to catch his only target in the Bears' 19-11 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kmet has caught just a single pass for 12 yards on the season, and he won't have fantasy value unless his role in the Chicago passing attack increases significantly.
Sep 29, 2020
Shut out in catches category
Kmet did not garner a target during Sunday's 30-26 win against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
The rookie tight end has been on the field for more than 30 percent of Chicago's offensive snaps in all three of his outings, though he has only logged one catch for 12 yards on 68 total plays. Jimmy Graham has a team-high three touchdowns through Week 3, but Kmet has yet to establish a rapport of his own with Bears signal-callers. As Nick Foles earns his first start with Chicago, Kmet faces a matchup against a Colts defense that has permitted an NFL-low 32 receiving yards to opposing tight ends.
Sep 20, 2020
Hauls in one pass
Kmet caught a 12-yard pass in Chicago's 17-13 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
For the second week in a row, the rookie was targeted just a single time, and unless his role in the passing attack is significantly increased, he'll have very limited fantasy value.
Sep 13, 2020
Targeted once in debut
Kmet failed to catch his only target in the Bears' 27-23 win over the Lions Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Jimmy Graham serving as the main receiving tight end, Kmet was used primarily as a blocker. Unless his role in the offense changes, he'll likely remain a low-upside fantasy option.
