Dalton Schultz Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Bills vs Texans game on Thursday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 17, 2025
Still dealing with shoulder issue
Schultz (shoulder) was listed as limited on Monday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has been dealing with a shoulder injury for nearly a month, but he's played in each of the Texans' last four games en route to 21 catches (on 31 targets) for 205 yards and one touchdown. Considering his production hasn't tailed off with Davis Mills and not C.J. Stroud (concussion, DNP on Monday) under center the last two contests, Schultz remains a consideration in fantasy ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Bills. Wednesday's practice report will reveal whether or not Schultz has a Week 12 designation.
Nov 17, 2025
Productive day in win
Schultz secured six of nine targets for 51 yards in the Texans' 16-13 win over the Titans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz finished second in receptions and targets while slotting in third in receiving yards. The veteran is on a productive three-game stretch -- which includes two contests with fill-in quarterback Davis Mills -- that's seen him post a 19-181-1 line on 28 targets, affording him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 12 home matchup against the Bills on Thursday night.
Nov 14, 2025
Gains clearance after full practice
Schultz (shoulder/illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans after practicing without limitations Friday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but will be available Sunday after Friday's full session. He followed the same practice regimen in Week 9 and performed well against the Broncos, catching six of eight passes for 77 yards. Schultz has at least five catches in six of his last seven games.
Nov 14, 2025
Back at practice Friday
Schultz (shoulder/illness) returned to practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who continues to manage a shoulder injury and was also listed as dealing with an illness when he missed his second consecutive practice Thursday, is expected to play Sunday against the Titans, per Wilson. Friday's final injury report is destined to reveal whether the tight end heads into the weekend with a designation or fully cleared to face Tennessee.
Nov 13, 2025
Still not practicing
Schultz (shoulder) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice Wednesday, so the tight end's status will need to be monitored ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans. Back in Week 9, when Schultz was managing knee and shoulder issues, he was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning to a full session Friday. Though not a lock to occur, a similar scenario unfolding this time around remains plausible.
Nov 12, 2025
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Schultz (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was managing knee and shoulder issues last week, but now he's only listed with a shoulder injury on the Texans' initial Week 11 injury report. So far we haven't heard anything to suggest that the tight end's status for Sunday's game against the Titans is in danger, so it's possible that Schultz's absence from Wednesday's session was maintenance-related. A return to practice Thursday -- in any capacity -- would support that notion.
Nov 9, 2025
Gets into end zone in Week 10
Schultz caught seven of 11 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-29 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end saw a season high in targets and topped 50 receiving yards for the fourth time in the last five games, this time with Davis Mills at QB instead of C.J. Stroud (concussion). Schultz capped his day with his first TD of the season, a seven-yard strike from Mills in the fourth quarter as the Texans put together a stunning comeback from a 29-10 deficit. Schultz will take a 45-438-1 line on 59 targets through nine contests into a Week 11 tilt against the Titans.
Nov 6, 2025
Upgrades to full practice
Schultz (knee/shoulder) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has been listed on Houston injury reports with the knee and shoulder issues for three straight weeks, but he's played in the previous two games and is on track to suit up once again this Sunday versus the Jaguars. The veteran tight end turned in one of his better performances of the season in the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Broncos, finishing with six catches for 77 yards on eight targets.
Nov 5, 2025
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Schultz (knee/shoulder) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who continues to manage knee and shoulder issues, didn't practice either Wednesday or Thursday last week before logging a full practice Friday and playing in the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Broncos, a game in which he caught six of his eight targets for a team-high 77 yards. With no reported setbacks in that contest, the tight end's listed limitations Wednesday are presumably maintenance-related.
Nov 2, 2025
Leads Houston in receiving yards
Schultz caught six of eight targets for a team-high 77 yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end did most of his damage on a 47-yard reception from C.J. Stroud (concussion) in the first quarter to set up Houston's first of five field goals on the afternoon. Schultz wound up second on the team in receptions behind Nico Collins' seven, but the ceiling for the entire Texans passing attack was downgraded when Davis Mills replaced Stroud early in the second quarter. If Mills gets the start in Week 10 against the Jaguars, Schultz should still be a reliable possession option despite his impressive 17-199-0 line on 21 targets over three games since Houston's bye.
Nov 2, 2025
Active versus Denver
Schultz (knee/shoulder) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing either Wednesday or Thursday, Schultz logged a full practice Friday, which set the stage for him to be available versus Denver. Through seven games thus far, the tight end leads the Texans in catches (32) and is second in targets (40) and receiving yards (308), a production level that keeps him on the fantasy lineup radar in Week 9. Meanwhile, the team is getting WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) back Sunday, but Schultz should nonetheless continue to see his share of looks from QB C.J. Stroud in the absence of any in-game setbacks. Harrison Bryant is the only other Houston TE active Sunday, with the team having opted to not elevate either Dalton Keene or Luke Lachey from the practice squad.
Nov 1, 2025
Expected to play Sunday
Schultz, who is questionable to suit up Sunday against Denver, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz logged a DNP/DNP/FP practice progression during the week, which has set him up to likely play against the Broncos. He'll look to rebound after posting season-low totals of two catches and 24 receiving yards against San Francisco in Week 8.
Oct 31, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Schultz (knee/shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos after practicing fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, Schultz's return to a full session Friday bodes well for his Week 9 status, with Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston noting that the tight end is expected to be available for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET contest. If he does play against Denver, Schultz will be joined in the Texans' lineup by WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring), who are both slated to return to action this weekend. Overall, Schultz has compiled a 32/308/0 receiving line on 40 targets through seven games to date, a pace that keeps him on the fantasy radar in most formats.
Oct 31, 2025
Back at practice Friday
Schultz (knee/shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, but coach DeMeco Ryans indicated that he expected the tight end to return to the field later in the week, which indeed transpired Friday. The Texans' upcoming injury report is destined to both clarify Schultz's participation level, as well as his injury designation, or lack thereof, for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Oct 30, 2025
Not practicing Thursday
Schultz (knee/shoulder) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz also missed Wednesday's session, but coach DeMeco Ryans noted afterward that he expected the tight end to return to the field later in the week. With that in mind, the focus turns to what, if anything, Schultz does at Friday's practice, and in turn how the Texans list him on their final injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Oct 29, 2025
Managing knee and shoulder issues
Schultz didn't practice Wednesday due to knee and shoulder injuries, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Warren, Schultz didn't appear to be hurt at any point in the Texans' Week 8 win over the 49ers and played until the game's final snap. Meanwhile, coach DeMeco Ryans noted Wednesday that the team is expecting the tight end "back as the week goes on...he's doing well, progressing just fine.'' Assuming Schultz is available Sunday against the Broncos, he could be working alongside wideouts Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring), who both returned to limited practices Wednesday.
Oct 29, 2025
Not practicing
Schultz (undisclosed) isn't practicing Wednesday but is expected to return later this week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
He was listed with back and shoulder injuries last week but was cleared to play Friday on the final injury report. Schultz then played into the fourth quarter of a 26-15 win over the 49ers, though he appeared to be in pain and briefly left the game at one point. He still managed a 77 percent route share, tied for second on the team, while catching two of three targets for 24 yards. It sounds like Schultz is banged up but still expected to play this Sunday against the Broncos.
Oct 26, 2025
Limited to three catches in win
Schultz brought in two of three targets for 24 yards in the Texans' 26-15 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end was coming off a season-best 9-98-0 receiving line on 10 targets versus the Seahawks on Monday night, but even with top two receivers Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) both sidelined. Schultz downturn was surprising in that context, as he finished with season lows in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Schultz will look to bounce back in Week 9 against a tough Broncos defense, a game where he could once again play without at least one of his two injured wide receiver teammates.
Oct 24, 2025
Good to go Sunday
Schultz (back/shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers after practicing fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
With wideouts Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) both ruled out for the contest, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 suggests that the Texans figure to lean heavily on Schultz on Sunday, along with rookie wide receivers Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins, in addition to Xavier Hutchinson. While recording a 75 percent snap share in this past Monday's 27-19 loss to the Seahawks, Schultz racked up nine catches on 10 targets for a team-high 98 yards, and with Houston's pass-catching corps shorthanded, the TE should remain a key target for QB C.J. Stroud versus San Francisco.
Oct 23, 2025
Another limited practice
Schultz (back/shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was also limited at practice Wednesday, so he may need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers. With wideouts Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) both having logged 'DNPs' both Wednesday and Thursday, Schultz (assuming he's available) could be in store for a high-volume Week 8 if the Texans remain shorthanded at WR versus San Francisco.
Oct 22, 2025
Limited practice Wednesday
Schultz (back/shoulder) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
While logging a 75 percent snap share in Monday's 27-19 loss to the Seahawks, Schultz racked up nine catches on 10 targets for a team-high 98 yards. However, with the tight end managing a pair of injuries, his status will need to be monitored ahead of this weekend's contest against the 49ers. If Schultz is available, he could remain busy in Week 8, with WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) both banged up and having missed Wednesday's practice.
Oct 21, 2025
Leads team in receiving on MNF
Schultz had nine receptions on 10 targets for 98 yards in Monday's 27-19 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Schultz saved his best for the bright lights of Monday Night Football, coming out of the loss with new season highs in targets, receptions and yardage. The veteran tight end also finished as the Texans' leading receiver after Nico Collins (concussion) was forced out of the contest early in the fourth quarter. Schultz had been a high-floor option in deeper formats prior to Monday's outburst, but his target share could be elevated in Week 8 if Collins is unable to suit up against the 49ers on Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Solid showing against Baltimore
Schultz recorded five receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 44-10 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was C.J. Stroud's favorite target in the first half, recording four receptions on four targets for 53 yards. Schultz played a key role on multiple scoring drives for Houston, recording 11 and 12-yard receptions to keep a pair of possessions alive on third down before logging a 21-yard catch to set up a touchdown just before halftime. This was Schultz's highest yardage total of the season, and he has five receptions in three consecutive contests.
Sep 28, 2025
Five catches in Week 4 win
Schultz recorded five receptions on six targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 26-0 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Schultz tied for the team lead in targets with Nico Collins, though he was used entirely in short areas of the field. His longest reception went for only nine yards, and he has yet to record a 20-yard gain on any of his 16 catches this season. Schultz has also yet to reach 40 receiving yards in a game.
Sep 22, 2025
Season-high targets, yards in loss
Schultz caught five of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had season-highs in both targets and receiving yards, as the Texans made a concerted effort to get the passing game going. C.J. Stroud's 40 drop-backs (38 attempts, two sacks) were the most in three games, but the aerial attack mustered just 184 yards (4.6 yards per attempt). The passing volume meant opportunities for Schultz existed even with the season debut of No. 2 wideout Christian Kirk (eight targets). At 0-3 and getting very little from Stroud, the Texans might consider a heavier run-based attack, which would impact all receivers.
Sep 15, 2025
Gains 29 yards on MNF
Schultz had three receptions on four targets for 29 yards in Monday's 20-19 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Schultz turned in another mild fantasy score despite finishing second in targets for the Texans. The veteran starter provides predictability for those in deeper formats, but his lack of upside and scoring potential (two touchdowns over 17 starts in 2024) keep him from flourishing in fantasy circles. Schultz remains a low-end option heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Sep 7, 2025
Leads team with five targets
Schultz brought in three of five targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Schultz led the Texans in targets on a low-volume passing day, but the end result was still lackluster from a fantasy perspective. The good news for the veteran tight end is that he remained the No. 1 tight end option for QB C.J. Stroud despite posting mediocre numbers in 2024. Schultz should be considered a low-ceiling fantasy option heading into next Monday's tilt against Tampa Bay.
Sep 2, 2025
Restructures contract with Houston
The Texans restructured Schultz's contract Tuesday to convert the $11.5 million he was slated to make into a signing bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
The move to restructure Schultz's 2025 pay from base salary into a signing bonus lowers the Texans' salary cap for this season, and the veteran tight end is still slated to make the $11 million he's owed in 2026. Schultz played in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 53 catches (on 85 targets) for 532 yards and two touchdowns, all of which were his lowest since the 2019 campaign as a member of the Cowboys.
Aug 9, 2025
Not on track to play Saturday
Schultz isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who profiles as the Texans' top tight end, is among the Texans' key players on track to sit the contest out, so the soonest he might see preseason snaps is Aug. 16 against the Panthers. The 29-year-old put up a 53/532/2 receiving line in 17 regular-season games with Houston in 2024.
Jun 3, 2025
Back on practice field
Schultz (leg) is on the practice field Tuesday for voluntary OTAs, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz missed a handful of days early at OTAs due to an apparent leg injury, but he already appears over the minor issue. Now heading into his age-29 season and third year catching passes from C.J. Stroud (pectoral), Schultz is competing for targets in a pass-catching corps led by Nico Collins that remains crowded despite the departure of Stefon Diggs (ACL) for New England, and Tank Dell (ACL) being a candidate to miss significant time. Houston acquired veteran slot receiver Christian Kirk via a trade with Jacksonville early in the offseason, then added early-round wideouts in the second (Jayden Higgins) and third (Jaylin Noel) rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. Schultz remains entrenched over Brevin Jordan (ACL) and Cade Stover (collarbone) as the Texans' top tight end, but his ceiling seems to be as either the third or fourth option in Houston's passing game.
Jan 18, 2025
Four grabs in divisional-round loss
Schultz caught all four of his targets for 63 yards in Saturday's 23-14 divisional-round loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end was on the other end of C.J. Stroud's longest completion of the day, a 34-yard connection on the Texans' first possession that helped set up a field goal. Schultz suited up for every game in 2024, the first time he'd accomplished that since he was a Cowboy in 2021, but even with the Texans dealing with a number of injuries to their wide receiver room, he didn't see an increase in his production of target volume. He posted a 53-532-2 line on 85 targets over 17 regular-season contests before adding six catches for 86 yards on eight targets over two postseason appearances. Schultz has two years and $22 million left on his current contract, and given the middling impact he made in 2024, it's possible the Texans consider making him a cap casualty this offseason.
Jan 16, 2025
Cleared to face Kansas City
Schultz (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation for Saturday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
After being deemed limited Tuesday and Wednesday, Schultz practiced fully Thursday, paving the way for him to lead Houston's tight end corps in the team's second postseason contest. In last weekend's 32-12 wild-card win over the Chargers, Schultz -- who logged a 53-532-2 receiving line in 17 regular-season outings -- caught two of his four targets for 23 yards.
Jan 15, 2025
Another limited practice
Schultz (shoulder) remained limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Following back-to-back limited sessions, Schultz may need to practice fully Thursday in order to avoid an injury designation for Saturday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs. With Cade Stover (undisclosed) having been placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Irv Smith is next up behind Schultz on the Texans' TE depth chart, though Teagan Quitoriano (calf), who is on IR, has been practicing fully this week and could be activated ahead of the weekend.
Jan 14, 2025
Limited with shoulder issue
Schultz (shoulder) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
It's a new injury for the veteran tight end. Schultz has been relatively healthy this season, and it's the first time he's been limited on a practice report since September. Schultz played 73 percent of the offensive snaps in last Saturday's wild-card win over the Chargers, securing two of his four targets for 23 yards. Houston's TE2, rookie Cade Stover (undisclosed), was placed on injured reserve earlier Tuesday.
Jan 5, 2025
Three catches in Week 18
Schultz recorded three catches on three targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Schultz played throughout the first half, well after most of the top Texans' skill-position players were rested. His longest catch went for 13 yards on Houston's first possession, and he concludes the season with 532 yards -- the lowest yardage total of his career since 2019. However, Schultz has remained a consistent target earner, as he's topped 50 receptions in six straight campaigns, and he should retain a peripheral role in the Houston offense in a likely matchup with the Chargers in the first round of the playoffs.
Dec 25, 2024
Struggles with six targets
Schultz had two receptions on six targets for 21 yards in Wednesday's 31-2 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was coming off his best fantasy performance of the season in Week 16 (5-45-1), but he followed that up with his worst catch rate of the season on six targets. The veteran tight end has experienced a downward trend in production in his second year with Houston, carrying a mediocre 50-503-2 receiving line while starting all 16 of the Texans' games in 2024. Schultz will look to finish the regular season on a high note when the Texans visit the Titans next Sunday.
Dec 21, 2024
Scores TD in Saturday's loss
Schultz caught five of eight targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 27-19 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Schultz finished second on the team in targets behind Nico Collins (10), and Schultz will likely work as the team's second option in the passing game moving forward, as wide receiver Tank Dell exited due to a serious knee injury. The tight end scored his second touchdown of the season on a 10-yard catch in the second quarter. Both of those scores have come in the last three games after Schultz started the season on a 12-game touchdown drought. Schultz's arrow is pointing up ahead of a Christmas matchup with the Ravens.
Dec 15, 2024
Two catches in Week 15 win
Schultz secured two of four targets for 13 yards in the Texans' 20-12 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was a bit player in the air attack, although with C.J. Stroud throwing for only 131 yards on the afternoon, the veteran tight end was hardly the only Texan with modest numbers. Schultz came into game with a pair of five-catch tallies in the previous three games, but he remains a strict complementary option even in games when Stroud has a lot more success through the air.
Dec 1, 2024
Finds end zone in Week 13 win
Schultz secured five of seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite missing time in the second half to be evaluated for a shoulder injury, Schultz was able to record his first touchdown since January's wild-card win over the Browns, finding the end zone on a 22-yard grab early in the fourth quarter. The veteran tight end finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon for the Texans, and his catch total matched a season high as well. Schultz now has a pair of five-reception totals in the last three games heading into a Week 14 bye.
Nov 25, 2024
Two catches in loss
Schultz caught both of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 32-27 loss to Tennessee in Week 12.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had fewer targets than backup Cade Stover (four), who also caught a touchdown pass. Schultz has been a weekly contributor -- 57 targets, 36 receptions in 12 games -- and has been on the field for an 82 percent share of snaps but is still looking for his first TD.
Nov 19, 2024
Team-high catch total in win
Schultz secured five of seven targets for 33 yards in the Texans' 34-10 win over the Cowboys on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Facing his old team for the first time, Schultz recorded a team-high catch total that also served as a season-best figure. Schultz had 52- and 66-yard outings over the prior three games coming into Monday night, but with Nico Collins back on the field following a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury, the veteran tight end was used close to the line of scrimmage. Schultz's fantasy upside should remain modest in a Week 12 home divisional matchup against the Titans.
Nov 11, 2024
Season-best 66 yards
Schultz recorded three receptions on four targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Schultz earned fewer than five targets for only the second time since Week 3, which came as a surprise given the absence of Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee). However, Schultz still managed his highest yardage total of the season, primarily thanks to a 32-yard reception early in the third quarter. Though it was a positive performance, Schultz has still managed to top 35 yards in only two games for the campaign.
Nov 9, 2024
Could see increased targets
Schultz could see a higher-than-usual number of targets in Sunday night's game against the Lions with Houston's top-two wideouts questionable for Week 10.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had been a forgotten component in the passing offense to start the season, but injuries have hit the wideout group since Week 1. Stefon Diggs (knee) is done for the season, Nico Collins (IR, hamstring) was designated to return from IR but logged one limited practice Friday and is questionable, and Tank Dell (back) popped up on Friday's injury report and is questionable. Schultz is averaging five targets per game for the season and has seen at least six throws come his way in four of the last five weeks, coinciding with the stretch of time that injuries began impacting the wide receivers. After catching five touchdowns during his first season in Houston, Schultz is still looking for his first score in 2024.
Nov 1, 2024
Modest output in Week 9 loss
Schultz secured three of six targets for 21 yards in the Texans' 21-13 loss to the Jets on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Despite the absence of both Stefon Diggs (IR, knee) and Nico Collins (IR, hamstring), Schultz continued to operate in a modest role that left him with eighth sub-35-yard tally of the season. The veteran tight end has topped out at four receptions as far as a single-game high during the 2024 campaign, and with Collins likely to return for a Week 10 home clash against the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 10, Schultz is likely to remain in a largely fantasy-irrelevant role.
Oct 27, 2024
Sees uptick in production Sunday
Schultz secured four of six targets for 52 yards in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Colts on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz tied for second on the team in receptions and targets while also serving as the runner-up in receiving yards. The veteran tight end's receiving yardage total was a season high as well, and he's now recorded a trio of four-catch totals in his last four games. Schultz should continue seeing a slightly elevated role in a Week 9 road matchup against the Jets on Thursday night, especially if Stefon Diggs (knee) joins Nico Collins (IR-hamstring) in street clothes.
Oct 20, 2024
One catch in Week 7 loss
Schultz caught one of two targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's 28-yard catch in the first quarter was enough for him to finish as Houston's leading receiver, as C.J. Stroud threw for only 28 yards in arguably the worst performance of the second-year quarterback's career. Wide receiver Nico Collins (hamstring) will miss a third consecutive game in Week 8 against the Colts, so Schultz is poised to see decent target volume if Stroud gets back on track, as Schultz had 14 targets in Houston's previous two games coming into Sunday's loss.
Oct 14, 2024
Eight targets in win
Schultz caught four of eight targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots in Week 6.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was given a season-high eight targets -- second most on the team -- as the Houston offense was without Nico Collins (hamstring), who is on injured reserve for at least another three games. Expect Schultz to get more looks while Collins remains sidelined, which could eventually translate into touchdowns. Schultz has yet to score in 2024.
Oct 7, 2024
Season-high six targets in win
Schultz caught four of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills in Week 5.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight week, Schultz received a bump in targets with one of Houston's top-three wideouts injured. After Nico Collins (hamstring) was removed from the game and Buffalo's defense made life difficult for quarterback C.J. Stroud in the second half, Schultz became a security blanket for the second-year quarterback. All six of the tight end's targets came during the third and fourth quarters with four of them on third downs. Schultz, who received five looks last week when Tank Dell was inactive, has 16 targets over the last three games compared to six over the first two games of the season.
Sep 30, 2024
Five targets in win
Schultz caught three of five targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over Jacksonville in Week 4.
ANALYSIS
For a second straight week, Schultz dealt with an ankle injury during the practice week, but he played significantly. In Week 3, he logged 96 percent of the offensive snaps and was on the field for 87 percent of plays Sunday. Schultz moved up to third on the target list with Tank Dell (chest) inactive for the game.
Sep 26, 2024
Puts in full practice
Schultz (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Schultz opened Week 4 prep Wednesday as a limited practice participant, but his ability to take every rep in Thursday's session clears up any lingering doubt about his availability for this Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Expect the tight end to once again take on ample playing time after he logged 96 percent of Houston's snaps on offense in the Week 3 loss to Minnesota. Schultz drew five targets against the Vikings, and he could see his role in the passing attack expand if either or both of Nico Collins (hamstring) and Tank Dell (chest) aren't cleared to play versus the Jaguars.
Sep 25, 2024
Limited practice Wednesday
Schultz (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz continues to manage an ankle issue, but he logged a 96 percent snap share in the Texans' Week 3 loss to the Vikings. Given that there's been no reported setbacks with his injury, chances are the tight end's Wednesday limitations were simply more workload management.
Sep 23, 2024
Plays nearly every snap
Schultz caught two of five targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings in Week 3.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who had been hobbled by an ankle injury during the practice week, was on the field for 96 percent of the offensive snaps. The season-ending injury to Brevin Jordan (knee) cleared out the lone real threat to Schultz as a target from the tight end position. His five targets Sunday were a season high.
Sep 19, 2024
Takes every rep Thursday
Schultz (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was a limited participant Wednesday in the Texans' first Week 3 practice session, but his ability to take every rep a day later clears the way for the tight end to suit up Sunday in Minnesota. Through the first two weeks of the season, Schultz has produced a 5-37-0 receiving line on six targets while playing at least 70 percent of the offensive snaps in both contests. With top backup Brevin Jordan (knee) suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2, Schultz could see a slight uptick in his snap count moving forward.
Sep 18, 2024
Limited practice Wednesday
Schultz (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz missed back-to-back practices last week before logging a full session Friday and avoiding a Week 2 injury designation. In the Texans' subsequent win over the Bears, Schultz caught two of his three targets for 21 yards while logging a 71 percent snap share. With no reported setbacks in that contest, it's plausible that Schultz's listed limitations Wednesday were simply load management ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Sep 16, 2024
Logs two catches in win
Schultz caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over Chicago in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Schultz dealt with a minor ankle injury that forced him to miss two practices but was ready to go Sunday. He has six targets and five catches for 37 yards through two games. Schultz had five more targets after two weeks in 2023, which suggests the addition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs is cutting into the tight end's opportunities.
Sep 13, 2024
Good to go against Bears
Schultz (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Schultz sat out a pair of practices Wednesday and Thursday, but it looks like those absences were mostly for maintenance, as he will again be able to play through the ankle injury he suffered early in the 29-22 Week 1 win over the Colts. He stayed in that game after initially sustaining the injury. Schultz's fantasy managers can deploy him as usual when the Texans host the Bears for Sunday Night Football.
Sep 13, 2024
Back at practice
Schultz (ankle) returned to practice Friday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Schultz, who missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, is dealing with a minor sprained ankle and is expected to play Sunday night against the Bears. That said, it's still possible the Texans list the tight end as questionable for the contest on the team's final Week 2 injury report.
Sep 12, 2024
Diagnosed with ankle sprain
Schultz suffered an ankle sprain early in Sunday's 29-22 win over Colts but managed to play through the injury, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No injury was reported during the game, but Schultz has since missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday with a previously ambiguous ankle issue. Fowler suggests that the injury isn't severe, though his status is still in jeopardy if he can't return to the practice field Friday.
Sep 12, 2024
Not practicing Thursday
Schultz (ankle) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who didn't practice Wednesday, thus has one more opportunity to log on-field preparation ahead of Sunday night's contest against the Bears. In the event that he's limited or out this weekend, added Week 2 opportunities would be available for fellow TEs Brevin Jordan and Cade Stover.
Sep 11, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Schultz (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz played 79 percent of offensive snaps in Week 1 while securing all three of his targets for 16 yards, but he appears to have sustained an ankle injury in the process. The starting tight end will have two more opportunities to increase his activity level before Houston tags him with an injury designation for Sunday night's matchup against the Bears. If Schultz ends up limited or has to miss any time, Brevin Jordan will stand to draw the start at tight end.
Sep 9, 2024
Three targets Week 1
Schultz caught all three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Colts in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Schultz was the snap and target leader at the tight end position, ahead of Brevin Jordan, but he may be hard pressed to repeat the 88 targets he had in 2023. The target distribution Sunday heavily skewed to the wideouts, who were targeted 22 times compared to five for the tight ends.
Aug 10, 2024
Makes preseason debut
Schultz did not catch his lone target in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Schultz made his preseason debut and played 11 snaps in the first quarter. The Texans quickly extended him for three years during the offseason, after Schultz developed chemistry with then-rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Houston added a high-profile target in Stefon Diggs, which could cut into Schultz's opportunities.
Mar 5, 2024
Signs three-year extension
The Texans and Schultz agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million contract extension on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz will stick around with C.J. Stroud for the foreseeable future on a new deal that includes $23.5 million in guarantees, per Rapoport. Had he not been re-signed Schultz would've arguably been the top tight end of this free agency cycle, and keeping the pass-catching corps that Stroud found success with as a rookie intact makes complete sense for Houston. Across 15 regular-season games in 2023, Schultz secured 59 of 88 targets for 635 yards and five scores.
Jan 20, 2024
Five catches in loss
Schultz recorded five receptions on seven targets for 43 yards in Saturday's 34-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Schultz finished second on the team in targets and delivered a few big plays, most notably a 21-yard catch late in the first quarter to set up a field goal. Earlier in the same drive, he dropped a pass -- his second in as many games this postseason. Despite some inconsistency on a game-to-game basis, Schultz remains a steady contributor overall as he has topped 55 receptions in four consecutive seasons while reaching 600 receiving yards in three of those four campaigns. He'll enter free agency this offseason after one year with the Texans, and he should have a significant role wherever he lands.
Jan 13, 2024
Limited to two targets
Schultz recorded one catch on two targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 45-14 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had a limited role in the offense, as he matched his lowest target total in any game of the regular season. He had a drop early in the first quarter but redeemed himself with a long 37-yard touchdown reception just before halftime. The Texans held a three-score lead for much of the final two quarters, limiting passing volume for the entire team. He should have a chance to be more involved in Houston's divisional-round matchup.
Jan 7, 2024
Seven targets in win
Schultz caught five of seven targets for 42 yards in Saturday's 23-19 win over Indianapolis in Week 18.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had the second-most targets behind Nico Collins (nine) on a day when the Texans operated without three injured wideouts. The tight end has been important all season and could continue as a prominent target in the postseason. Schultz will have more competition for quarterback C.J. Stroud's eyes, if Noah Brown (back) and/or Robert Woods (hip) are available next week.
Dec 31, 2023
Limited to 19 yards
Schultz recorded two receptions on four targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Schultz dominated opportunity for the Texans in Week 16, but he saw his involvement dip in Sunday's win over the Titans. Nico Collins unsurprisingly led the team with eight targets, though Schultz's lack of involvement was concerning in light of the absences of both Robert Woods (hip) and Noah Brown (hip) for significant portions of the game. Fellow tight end Brevin Jordan was also targeted twice and caught the only passing touchdown of the game for Houston, suggesting Schultz's role is likely to remain volatile heading into Week 18 and any potential postseason run.
Dec 24, 2023
Leading receiver in Week 16 loss
Schultz caught eight of 11 targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Much of the tight end's production came late after the Texans had fallen behind 36-7 and quarterback Davis Mills put together a couple of garbage-time scoring drives against Cleveland's backup defenders. Schultz wound up leading Houston in catches, receiving yards and targets, but he could be even more productive in Week 17 against the Titans if C.J. Stroud is able to clear the league's concussion protocol in time to suit up.
Dec 17, 2023
Makes most of five targets
Schultz recorded four receptions on five targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Schultz returned from a two-game absence caused by a hamstring injury, though he got off to a slow start as he wasn't targeted in the first half. However, he came alive in the final two quarters to finish second on the team in both targets and yards. He tallied long receptions of 19, 16 and 15 yards, the last of which helped set the Texans up for a game-tying touchdown. Schultz has the chance to finish the season strong thanks to the potential return of C.J. Stroud (concussion) and some potential key absences among the team's wide-receiver corps.
Dec 13, 2023
Returns to full practice
Schultz (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has missed the Texans' last two games, but the tight end's return to a full practice session Wednesday sets the stage for him to return to action Sunday against the Titans. In 11 games this season, Schultz has put together a 40/455/5 receiving line on 61 targets, a rate of production that puts the him on the fantasy lineup radar in Week 15, though it's worth noting that starting QB C.J. Stroud is in the NFL's concussion protocol and didn't practice Wednesday.
Dec 13, 2023
Back at practice
Schultz (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has missed two straight games, but his return to practice Wednesday offers hope that the tight end could potentially return to return to action Sunday against the Titans. The Texans' upcoming injury report will reveal Schultz's official participation level.
Dec 8, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Schultz (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
After a limited practice session Wednesday, Schultz didn't practice either Thursday or Friday and he'll miss a second straight game this weekend. In his absence, Brevin Jordan is once again slated to see added tight end snaps and targets in Week 14. Schultz will target a potential return to action Dec. 17 against the Titans.
Dec 8, 2023
Not practicing Friday
Schultz (hamstring) wasn't spotted at practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
After logging a limited practice Wednesday, Schultz didn't practice Thursday, so his apparent absence from Friday's session is concerning. If the tight end is ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Jets, Brevin Jordan would be in line to see added snaps and targets for the Texans in Week 14.
Dec 7, 2023
Misses Thursday's practice
Schultz (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who missed this past Sunday's game against the Broncos, logged a limited practice Wednesday, so his downgrade to non-participation a day later is notable, though it could potentially be indicative of load management rather than a setback. Friday's injury report should add valuable context with regard to the tight end's status for Sunday's game at the Jets.
Dec 7, 2023
Not seen at Thursday's practice
Schultz (hamstring) wasn't spotted during the initial portion of practice Thursday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who missed this past Sunday's game against the Broncos, was limited at practice Wednesday, so if the tight end is deemed a non-participant Thursday, what he's able to do Friday figures to be pivotal with regard to his chances of returning to action this weekend against the Jets. If Schultz ends up limited or out versus New York, fellow TE Brevin Jordan would be in line to see added snaps and targets Week 14.
Dec 6, 2023
Limited in return to practice
Schultz (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Any form of participation is a positive sign after the tight end missed practice last week and was ruled out for an eventual win over the Broncos. Backup TE Brevin Jordan filled in admirably, catching three of four targets for 64 yards while playing 75 percent of snaps on offense and running routes on 67 percent of C.J. Stroud's dropbacks.
Dec 6, 2023
Returns to practice
Schultz (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice last week and was inactive for Sunday's win over the Broncos. His return Wednesday, even if it's in a limited capacity, suggests he has a chance to make it back for a matchup with the Jets this Sunday.
Dec 1, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Schultz (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice all week due to a hamstring injury, and now that he's been deemed unavailable versus Denver, the tight end will target a potential return to action Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Jets. In his absence this weekend, Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert will handle the Texans' Week 13 TE duties.
Dec 1, 2023
Not practicing Friday
Schultz (hamstring) wasn't spotted at practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that Schultz didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday either, the tight end appears to be trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Broncos. If Schultz is unavailable this weekend, Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert would be in line to handle the Texans' TE reps in Week 13.
Nov 30, 2023
Misses another practice
Schultz (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz didn't practice Wednesday either, making Friday's session an important one in terms of determining the tight end's availability for Sunday's game against the Broncos. If Schultz isn't able to play this weekend, Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert would be left as the Texans' available tight ends.
Nov 29, 2023
Sits out practice Wednesday
Schultz (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz logged 29 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Jaguars while being limited to one catch on two targets for two yards. With a 'DNP' to start the practice week, the tight end's status now needs to be monitored as this weekend's game against the Broncos approaches, but if Schultz ends up limited or out, added Week 13 snaps would be available for Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert.
Nov 26, 2023
Forgotten in Week 12 loss
Schultz caught one of two targets for two yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to Jacksonville in Week 12.
ANALYSIS
The two targets were a season low for Schultz, who entered the contest with nearly six targets per game. Still, his five touchdowns over the last eight games, coupled with a productive passing offense led by rookie C.J. Stroud, make Schultz an attractive option each week. Further to that point, the tight end is tied for the team lead in red zone targets (10) along with Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
Nov 19, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 11 win
Schultz secured two of three targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 21-16 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz played second fiddle to the Texans' top wideout trio, but he still found his way to a serviceable fantasy day with a 20-yard touchdown grab to answer an early Cardinals touchdown in the first quarter. Schultz has multiple receptions in all but one game this season, and although he saw a big downturn in yardage after amassing 201 on 14 receptions in the last two weeks, he remains a trusted target for C.J. Stroud heading into a Week 12 home showdown against the Jaguars.
Nov 16, 2023
Turns in full practice
Schultz (hamstring) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz opened the week as a limited practice participant, but after he took every rep Thursday, the hamstring issue doesn't look as though it'll be anything that prevents him from playing Sunday against the Cardinals. The tight end began his tenure with the Texans in rather humble fashion through the first four weeks of the season, but he's since emerged as a viable fantasy starter -- even in shallower leagues. Over his last five games, he's put together a 27-332-3 receiving line on 39 targets.
Nov 15, 2023
Limited by hamstring issue
Schultz (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz logged 66 of a possible 75 snaps on offense in the Texans' win over the Bengals on Sunday, but now that the tight end finds himself on the team's lengthy injury report ahead of this weekend's game against the Cardinals, his status is worth monitoring. Over his last two outings, Schultz has combined for 14 catches on 17 targets for 201 yards and a TD.
Nov 14, 2023
Another strong outing
Schultz recorded four receptions (on six targets) for 71 yards during Sunday's 30-27 victory against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Schultz followed up his season-high performance last week (10-130-1) with another solid outing versus Cincinnati. After a slow start to the year, the veteran tight end has found his groove with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud dominating. Over the last six games, Schultz has recorded 30 receptions (42 targets) for 374 yards and four touchdowns.
Nov 5, 2023
Massive output in Week 9 win
Schultz brought in 10 of 11 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 39-37 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's career-best day saw him lead the Texans in receptions and tie with Tank Dell for the team lead in targets. The veteran tight end also recorded his fourth touchdown of the campaign on a nine-yard grab early in the fourth quarter, his fourth trip to the end zone in the last five games. Schultz has developed quick chemistry with C.J. Stroud, and despite the amount of weapons available to the rookie signal-caller, he should continue playing a key role in a Week 10 road matchup against the Bengals.
Oct 30, 2023
TD streak ends
Schultz caught two of five targets for five yards in Sunday's 15-13 loss to Carolina in Week 8.
ANALYSIS
Schultz, who entered the contest with touchdowns in three consecutive games, had his scoring streak come to an end. Houston had two red zone trips, but Schultz was not a target on either one. The tight end averages nearly six targets per game and is tied with Robert Woods (foot) at six red-zone targets to lead the team.
Oct 15, 2023
Scores TD in third straight
Schultz caught four of seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Schultz extended his touchdown streak to three games by catching a one-yard score in the first quarter. He also led the Texans in targets while finishing second in receiving yards behind Nico Collins (80), whom Schultz tied for the team lead in catches. After a slow start to the season, the tight end has found chemistry with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, and Schultz will look to pick up where he left off in Week 8 against the Panthers following a Week 7 bye.
Oct 8, 2023
Another touchdown in Week 5 loss
Schultz brought in seven of 10 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 21-19 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz led the Texans across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets for the afternoon with figures that ranked as his best of the season. The veteran tight end also found the end zone for the second straight contest when he recorded an 18-yard touchdown grab with 1:49 remaining that momentarily put Houston ahead. Schultz will look to extend his scoring streak to three games in a Week 6 home clash with the Saints.
Oct 1, 2023
Finds end zone in win
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
He wasn't busy, but the former Cowboy made an impact on a trick play by catching a six-yard TD from running back Devin Singletary in the fourth quarter to help put the game away. It's Schultz's first score as a Texan, but with rookie QB C.J. Stroud looking mature beyond his years, the tight end hasn't been needed as much as expected as a security blanket and has seen four targets or less in three of four games so far.
Sep 25, 2023
Three targets in win
Schultz caught one of three targets for nine yards in Sunday's 37-17 win over the Jaguars in Week 3.
ANALYSIS
Schultz once again paced the tight end group, but the most impactful of the bunch was Brevin Jordan, who scored a touchdown and gained more yards. Given that the Texans would prefer to run the ball better than they have early on, Schultz (82.9 percent share) and Teagan Quitoriano (40.6 percent) will continue to get the bulk of the snaps.
Sep 17, 2023
Seven targets in loss
Schultz caught four of seven targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 31-20 loss to Indianapolis in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Schultz remained the leading tight end for a second consecutive game. He has 11 targets, six catches and 38 yards. Schultz had company as a tight end target; Brevin Jordan, who played special teams only last week, was used on offense for the first time. Jordan caught both of his targets for 27 yards.
Sep 14, 2023
Upgraded to full Thursday
Schultz (thigh) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Following a limited session Wednesday, Schultz appears ready to roll for Sunday's Week 2 date with the Colts. The veteran tight end played 81% of the offensive snaps last week against the Ravens but turned four targets into two catches for four yards. His playing time keeps him in the fantasy mix at a shallow position.
Sep 13, 2023
Opens week with limited practice
Schultz (thigh) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After a disappointing Texans debut in which he picked up only four yards, Schultz's Week 2 availability could be in question. The fact that he at least practiced in some capacity is an encouraging sign, but the starting tight end's practice participation will be worth monitoring before the Texans take on the Colts on Sunday.
Sep 11, 2023
Leads TEs in snaps
Schultz caught two of four targets for four yards in Sunday's 25-9 loss to Baltimore in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had a quiet day, but he led Houston's tight ends in snaps by a wide margin. He was on the field for 62 offensive snaps, compared to 22 for Teagan Quitoriano and zero for Brevin Jordan, who played special teams only. Quarterback C.J. Stroud heavily favored wideouts in terms of targets, but Schultz is the top tight end on the team.
Aug 20, 2023
Two catches Saturday
Schultz caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Saturday's 28-3 preseason loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Schultz appears to be over any issue with his ribs after playing in Houston's first two preseason contests. All three targets were from projected starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, including a fourth-down incompletion in the red zone. Stroud showed progress from his performance in Preseason Week 1, including quick adjustment under pressure on a six-yard completion to Schultz on Houston's lone scoring drive. Brevin Jordan's continued absence due to a hamstring injury leaves Schultz has the clear number one tight end.
Aug 19, 2023
Makes exhibition appearance
Schultz (ribs) had two receptions on three targets for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers will be relieved to see Schultz get into an exhibition contest after dealing with a rib injury out of camp. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal to move across the state and start for the Texans after four seasons with the Cowboys. With little competition for targets at tight end in Houston, Schultz could see his usage jump -- along with his fantasy value -- from his time in Dallas. Expect the receiving threat to be one of rookie C.J. Stroud's favorite targets this upcoming season.
Aug 6, 2023
Returns to practice
Schultz (ribs) was back on the practice field Friday, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz missed time last week, but he's back to lead the tight end group.
Aug 3, 2023
Not practicing
Schultz (ribs) isn't practicing Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has been out since Sunday when a rib injury forced him from practice early. Coach DeMeco Ryans didn't make any predictions for a return date but said Monday that he doesn't expect the absence to last long. With fellow tight ends Brevin Jordan (hamstring) and Teagan Quitoriano (undisclosed) also not practicing, the Texans are mostly left with blockers at the position, including veteran journeymen Eric Tomlinson and Nick Vannett.
Jul 31, 2023
Dealing with ribs issue
Schultz (ribs) exited Sunday's practice early, but coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that the tight end will "be back out there soon."
ANALYSIS
Schultz was banged up after taking a shot to the side from fellow free-agent pickup Jimmie Ward in practice. It sounds like the tight end is day-to-day, and it's not a long-term concern. Schultz is expected to compete for the team lead in targets after coming over from the Cowboys in the offseason.
Jul 30, 2023
Expected to be fine after big hit
Head coach DeMeco Ryans said Schultz will "be fine" after leaving Sunday's practice early, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was examined by trainers following a collision with safety Jimmie Ward and didn't return to Sunday's practice, though he did put his helmet back on after leaving the medical tent and watched the remainder of the session. While Schultz is expected to be good to go moving forward, the statuses of fullback Troy Hairston, who was carted off, and fellow tight end Brevin Jordan, who left practice limping, remain unclear. Schultz signed a one-year, $9 million deal with the Texans this offseason and should be a solid security blanket for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Mar 20, 2023
Lands with Texans
The Texans are slated to sign Schultz, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Pelissero, Schultz is slated to land a one-year deal with Houston worth up to $9 million. In 15 games with the Cowboys last season, Schultz logged a 57-577-5 stat line on 89 targets. With the Texans, Schultz is in line to take over as the team's top pass-catching tight end, a context that should provide the 26-year-old with enough volume in 2023 to continue to maintain fantasy relevance in his new locale.
Jan 23, 2023
Hits pay dirt in playoff loss
Schultz had five receptions (10 targets) for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-12 divisional-round loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Schultz wasn't particularly efficient with his 10 targets, but he was able to convert Dallas' lone touchdown in a low-scoring affair. The 25-year-old saw his numbers take a hit after a breakout fantasy campaign in 2021, finishing with a 57-577-5 receiving line this regular season after posting 78-808-8 last year. Schultz did get hot in the playoffs, scoring three touchdowns in just two contests. Dallas used its franchise tag on Schultz last offseason, but that scenario is unlikely to repeat, making the tight end an unrestricted free agent in 2023.
Jan 17, 2023
Scores twice in wild-card win
Schultz secured seven of eight targets for 95 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' 31-14 wild-card win over the Buccaneers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end was the surprising leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also finding the end zone from 22 and 11 yards out in first and second quarters, respectively. Schultz was a consistent target down the stretch for Dak Prescott with at least four catches in seven of his last 11 regular-season games, and given Monday night's numbers, he figures for a solid role once again in Sunday's divisional-round road matchup against the tough 49ers defense.
Jan 9, 2023
Four grabs in Sunday's loss
Schultz caught four of nine targets for 33 yards in Sunday's loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
It was a brutal day for the entire Cowboys' offense, but Schultz was still able to scratch out some PPR value and catch multiple passes for the 11th straight game. Heading into a wild-card round clash with the Buccaneers, the tight end will look to match or exceed his production from the teams' Week 1 meeting, when Schultz turned nine targets into seven catches for 62 yards.
Dec 29, 2022
Pair of touchdowns in win
Schultz secured seven of 10 targets for 56 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' 27-13 win over the Titans on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The talented tight end took advantage of a defense that was already highly vulnerable to his position at full strength, and even more so with multiple starters sitting out Thursday. Schultz scored from six and 10 yards out in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, to record his second multi-touchdown tally of the campaign. Schultz, who crossed the 50-catch threshold for the third straight season with Thursday's production, will look to put together a strong start to the regular season in the Week 18 road matchup versus the Commanders a week from Sunday.
Dec 25, 2022
Three grabs against Eagles
Schultz caught three of four targets for 43 yards in Saturday's win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The tight end extended his streak of games with multiple catches to nine, although Schultz's four targets tied for his low-water mark during that stretch. Early-season injuries have kept him from repeating last year's breakout, but Schultz is still only four catches away from 50 and 12 yards away from 500 heading into a Week 17 clash with the Titans.
Dec 19, 2022
Two catches Sunday
Schultz caught two of four targets for 15 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
He didn't see many looks from Dak Prescott, although the Dallas tight end group still made an impact on a Peyton Hendershot TD in the second quarter. Schultz remains atop the depth chart, but the increased involvement of rookies Hendershot and Jake Ferguson (concussion) as the season has progressed has put a bit of a cap on the veteran's fantasy upside. Even so, Schultz has caught multiple passes in eight straight games, posting a 34-365-3 line on 49 targets over that stretch.
Dec 11, 2022
Season-best 87 yards
Schultz recorded six receptions on 10 targets for 87 yards in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Reliant on touchdowns for his fantasy production in recent weeks, Schultz flipped the script in Week 14 by leading the Cowboys in targets, receptions and yards. He turned in a number of big plays, highlighted by 22, 21 and 18 yards to post his best yardage total of the campaign. Even with CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup in the mix, Schultz has seen at least five targets in six of his last seven games.

Quiet in big win
Schultz caught two of six passes for 33 yards in Sunday's win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys ended up winning 54-19 thanks to a huge fourth quarter fueled by the defense, but Schultz wasn't able to carve out much of a share of the production as he had unexpected trouble getting in sync with Dak Prescott. The tight end still extended his streak of games with multiple catches to six games, a stretch during which he's compiled a 26-263-3 line on 35 targets.
Nov 24, 2022
Thankful for two-TD game
Schultz caught all four of his targets for 31 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's 28-20 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Both TDs came in the second half as the Cowboys came roaring back from a 13-7 halftime deficit. Schultz has three touchdowns on the season, both of which have come in the last three games, and after battling injuries in the first half of the year he appears to be back in peak form ahead of a Week 13 tilt against the Colts.
Nov 21, 2022
Three catches Sunday
Schultz caught three of five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 40-3 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys didn't need to air it out much Sunday, but Schultz still saw at least five targets for the fourth straight game even if the volume didn't result in any meaningful production. The tight end has a 20-199-1 line over that four-game stretch, a pace that gives him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Thanksgiving clash with the Giants.
Nov 13, 2022
Hits pay dirt in overtime loss
Schultz had six receptions (eight targets) for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 overtime loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Schultz picked up where he left off before the bye week with another strong fantasy performance. The 26-year-old is averaging 5.7 receptions and 59.0 yards over his last three contests. More importantly, he served as the lead tight end for third straight week after having limited availability early in the season due to a nagging knee injury. Schultz's stock is on the rise heading into a Week 11 matchup against the Vikings next Sunday.
Oct 30, 2022
Leads team in receptions
Schultz recorded six receptions on seven targets for 74 yards in Sunday's 49-29 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Schultz had among his best performances of the season, potentially a sign that his nagging knee injury is improving. He led the team with six receptions and did a lot of his damage on a drive midway through the third quarter when he managed 30 and 14-yard catches on consecutive plays to help set up a touchdown run for Tony Pollard. Schultz's performance has suffered early on in the season due to the knee issue, but he now has 11 receptions for 123 yards combined across his last two games.
Oct 30, 2022
Good to go Sunday
Schultz (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's reps were capped in practices Wednesday through Friday while he continued to manage the PCL sprain that kept him out of action Weeks 3 and 6, but the Cowboys didn't provide any indication he experienced a setback during his return to the lineup in the Week 7 win over the Lions. Even so, Schultz still took a questionable tag into the weekend, but his availability never seemed to be in much peril. Schultz should once again start and play the majority of the snaps at tight end Sunday while serving as a key target underneath for Dak Prescott.
Oct 29, 2022
Expected to play
Schultz, who's listed as questionable due to a knee injury, is expected to play Sunday against the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz continues to battle lingering knee pain after spraining his PCL in Week 2, but he was able to catch all five of his targets for 49 yards against the Lions in Week 7, marking his best outing since the season opener. The tight end was limited at practices during Week 8 prep, but barring any setbacks, he's line to suit up for a second consecutive contest. Fantasy managers should still confirm Schultz's status ahead of Sunday's 1:00 PM ET kickoff before locking him into lineups.
Oct 28, 2022
Questionable to face Chicago
Schultz (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Patrick Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has struggled with the knee ever since suffering a PCL sprain Week 2, but he did catch all five of his targets for 49 yards in last week's win over the Lions, displaying chemistry with Dak Prescott in the QB's first game back in the lineup. Schultz appears on track to play after managing limited practice throughout the week, albeit with the continued risk of in-game setbacks/aggravations.
Oct 27, 2022
Limited again Thursday
Schultz (knee) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Operating under a cap on his reps in the first two sessions of the week, Schultz now has just one more opportunity to practice in full before the Cowboys potentially hand him a designation for Sunday's game versus the Bears. Meanwhile, running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) and wide receiver Noah Brown (foot) didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so plenty of targets may be freed up for Schultz if one or both of them are sidelined this weekend. However, that's assuming Schultz gains active status himself.
Oct 26, 2022
Remains limited by knee issue
Schultz (knee) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz continues to deal with the ramifications of aggravating a PCL sprain Week 5, but he is coming off his most productive performance since the season opener this past Sunday against the Lions (5-49-0 line on five targets). With a Week 9 bye after this Sunday's matchup with the Bears, the Cowboys may take it easy on Schultz in practice with a respite on the horizon.
Oct 24, 2022
Five grabs in return
Schultz caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in Sunday's win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
After playing just nine snaps over the last two weeks due to knee trouble, Schultz returned to a regular role in the offense just in time to reunite with Dak Prescott, who was also back in action for the first time since Week 1. Schultz tied Noah Brown for the team lead in receptions on the afternoon, but his fantasy performance could have been bigger -- rookie tight end Peyton Hendershot was on the other end of a Prescott TD pass instead of Schultz late in the fourth quarter. The senior TE still appears to be Prescott's favorite security blanket however, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Week 8 matchup with the Bears.
Oct 21, 2022
Cleared to face Lions
Schultz doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Lions, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was a full practice participant throughout the week and gets QB Dak Prescott back in the lineup this Sunday, but it's tough to trust the tight end for fantasy after he had an in-game setback with his PCL injury in Week 5 (10 snaps) and then a pregame setback Week 6 (zero snaps). While there's still time to get on track this season, Schultz has four targets and no catches since suffering the injury in a Week 2 win over Cincinnati.
Oct 19, 2022
Full practice Wednesday
Schultz (knee) practiced fully Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has missed two of the Cowboys' six games this season due to a sprained PCL in his right knee, including last Sunday at Philadelphia. With a full practice behind him to begin Week 7 prep, though, he appears to be healthy enough to give it a go this Sunday versus the Lions. Assuming he gets through Thursday and Friday unscathed, Schultz likely will be targeted by Dak Prescott (right thumb) instead of Cooper Rush this weekend after the former gained medical clearance to return to action.
Oct 17, 2022
Suffers another setback
Schultz "tweaked" his knee during Saturday's practice ahead of Week 6, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz returned to action in Week 4 following a one-game absence due to a PCL strain and played 89 percent of the team's offensive snaps. However, he aggravated the issue in Week 5 and was held to just nine offensive snaps. Nonetheless, he returned to practice during Week 6 prep and didn't have an injury designation heading into Sunday's contest until he was surprisingly ruled out. Gehlken relays that the tight end suffered yet another setback during Saturday's ramp-up practice, but the extent of the situation remains unclear. In his absence, Jake Ferguson recorded career highs in receptions (four), targets (six), receiving yards (40) and caught his first NFL touchdown against Philadelphia.
Oct 16, 2022
Sitting out Sunday
Schultz (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest in Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Schultz aggravated a sprained PCL ins his right knee last Sunday at the Rams, but after putting together an LP/LP/FP practice regimen this week, he entered the weekend without a designation. The reason for his absence Week 6 isn't known but likely stems from the aforementioned injury. With Schultz on the pine, the Cowboys will turn to Jake Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot and Sean McKeon at tight end.
Oct 14, 2022
Good to go
Schultz (knee) has no injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
He progressed to full practice participation Friday after limited showings Wednesday and Thursday. There's no doubt Schultz will suit up, but he's caught just one pass since suffering a PCL sprain Week 2, missing Week 3 entirely and then exiting early Week 5.
Oct 13, 2022
Logs another limited session
Schultz (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys appear to be taking a cautious approach with their top tight end this week after Schultz aggravated the sprained PCL in his right knee this past Sunday at the Rams, capping his reps both Wednesday and Thursday. Because he didn't pick up any new damage in the knee, though, there's a belief he'll be available to the offense Week 6 at Philadelphia. Still, Schultz's status should continue to be watched to ensure he'll be out there Sunday night.
Oct 12, 2022
Practices in limited fashion
Schultz (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz aggravated the PCL sprain in his right knee this past Sunday at the Rams, an injury that he initially sustained Week 2 that sidelined him for one game. However, he lasted just nine offensive snaps in the Cowboys' most recent outing before hitting the sideline. Fortunately for the fifth-year pro, he didn't suffer any new damage to his knee, and there's a belief that if he gets through Week 6 prep OK, he should be able to play Sunday night in Philadelphia, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Schultz has two more sessions in front of him before Dallas potentially makes a determination on his status for game day.
Oct 11, 2022
No new damage to right knee
Schultz officially aggravated his PCL sprain Week 5 at the Rams, but he sustained no new damage in his right knee and should be able to play Sunday night in Philadelphia as long as he gets through Week 6 prep unscathed, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz initially suffered the injury Week 2 and logged a DNP in Week 3. He'll almost certainly operate under practice limitations when the Cowboys take the field Wednesday, but his status will be one to monitor as the week goes on to get a sense of his potential to play Sunday. Increasing his activity level Thursday and/or Friday would be a good sign that Schultz indeed is trending toward active status this weekend.
Oct 9, 2022
Aggravates knee injury Sunday
Schultz exited Sunday's game at the Rams due to a right knee injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz sprained his right PCL in Week 2 and missed one game as a result. While he was able to return Week 4 and practice in full during Week 5 prep, he limped off the field Sunday and visited with team trainers before the Cowboys labeled him questionable to return. If he's unable to do so, Schultz will finish the contest with no catches on one target.
Oct 5, 2022
Held catchless in win
Schultz failed to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's 25-10 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
After missing Week 3 due to a sprained PCL in his right knee, Schultz returned to his role as the Cowboys' No. 1 tight end. Unfortunately, the veteran was unable to have an impact on offense as he was unable to reel in the three targets that came his way. Schultz played 90 percent of the Cowboys offensive snaps, so it appears there were no true limitations coming off his knee injury. The 26-year-old should receive a much needed boost in the in the coming weeks as quarterback Dak Prescott (thumb) nears his return to field. Until then, Schultz will look to get going in what has been a disappointing start to the 2022 season. The Cowboys visit the Rams in Week 5.
Oct 2, 2022
Playing Sunday
Schultz (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Commanders, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Making his first appearance since Week 2 due to a sprained PCL in his right knee, Schultz will be a part of a Cowboys receiving corps that will have Michael Gallup (knee) available for the first time this season. That reality could result in fewer looks than normal for Schultz, as well as the fact rookie tight ends Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot may also snipe reps at the position. Nonetheless, Schultz is the unquestioned No. 1 TE in Dallas and should get most of the snaps among that trio.
Oct 1, 2022
Expected to play
Schultz (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Commanders, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys will likely make the decision official closer to the Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but this is still encouraging news given Schultz missed the Week 3 contest against the Giants. The Cowboys are also expected to see the season debut of star wide receiver Michael Gallup meaning the entirety of the team's pass-catching corps should be healthy, albeit without quarterback Dak Prescott who remains out following thumb surgery.
Sep 30, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Schultz (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Patrick Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was a limited practice participant throughout the week and could be treated as a game-time decision ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. It was the same drill ahead of Monday's eventual win over the Giants, though Schultz never seemed likely to play after managing just one limited practice before the game. He has better odds this time around, with Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot on handle TE snaps if Schultz can't play. Ferguson got most of the playing time Monday night but came off the field for Hendershot in some obvious passing situations.
Sep 29, 2022
Another limited practice
Schultz (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz took a seat Monday at the Giants after spraining his PCL in Week 2. Through two sessions this week, he's been limited while donning a brace on his right knee, per Todd Archer of ESPN.com, but executive vice president Stephen Jones relayed to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Thursday that the Cowboys believe the tight end should be available Sunday versus the Commanders. In the end, though, Friday's injury report will be telling for Schultz's odds to do so.
Sep 28, 2022
Stays limited Wednesday
Schultz (knee) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was unable to play Monday at the Giants due to a sprained PCL in his right knee that he sustained Week 2 against the Bengals. He did manage one limited session (Saturday) during Week 3 prep and maintained that level of activity to kick off this week. Schultz will have a pair of sessions to get back to full before the Cowboys potentially make a call on his availability for Sunday's contest against the Commanders.
Sep 26, 2022
Not playing in Week 3
Schultz (knee) is inactive for Monday's game at the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Schultz sustained a PCL injury in his right knee near the end of the Cowboys' Week 2 win against the Bengals, which capped him to one limited session (Saturday) during Week 3 prep. While Schultz initially was expected to be a game-time decision, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported Monday afternoon that the tight end was trending toward an absence. Indeed, Schultz will be sidelined, leaving TE reps to rookie Jake Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot and practice squad call-up Sean McKeon.
Sep 26, 2022
Not expected to play Monday
Schultz (knee) is not expected to play Monday night against the Giants, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Fowler, Schultz has been pushing to test the injury out pregame, but it remains unlikely he'll be cleared to play. The tight end suffered a PCL strain last week against the Bengals, so missing a week or two should be expected. If Schultz is indeed sidelined, Jake Ferguson would likely be the Cowboys' top option at TE, while Sean McKeon could also be promoted from the practice squad for added depth.
Sep 26, 2022
Not looking good for Monday
Schultz (knee) will test his right knee Monday, but there remains a strong chance he won't be able to play in Week 3 against the Giants, The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end suffered a PCL strain last week against the Bengals, so missing some time wouldn't be a surprise. If Schultz can't go, rookie Jake Ferguson would likely be the Cowboys' top option at TE, while Sean McKeon could also be promoted from the practice squad for added depth.
Sep 24, 2022
Game-time decision for Monday
Schultz (knee) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Giants, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll likely need to wait for more information from Dallas' camp as Schultz was listed as a limited participant in Saturday's practice, but considering it was only a walkthrough, it's hard to discern how much that stacks up against his previous two DNPs. Expect rookie Jake Ferguson to see significantly more playing time in the even Schultz is unable to play.
Sep 23, 2022
Still sidelined Friday
Schultz (knee) remained sidelined at Friday's practice, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz missed a second consecutive practice, though he managed to do some ball-skill work on the side. The tight end will have one more opportunity to ramp up his practice activity Saturday, with a final decision on his availability for Monday's game against the Giants to come no earlier that Sunday. If Schultz were to miss the clash between NFC East rivals, rookie Jake Ferguson would bump up to the top of Dallas' tight end depth chart.
Sep 22, 2022
No practice Thursday
Schultz (knee) did not practice Thursday, Dallas Morning News writer Michael Gehlken reports.
ANALYSIS
The Athletic's Jon Machota previously reported that Dallas would increase Schultz's practice workload "a little" each day leading up to Monday's game against the Giants, so by that reading Schultz's absence from Thursday's practice is inconclusive about his current status. If Schultz progresses to a limited practice Friday then he might have a shot to suit up Monday, but if Schultz goes into Saturday with no practice time logged it might make him a long shot at that point.
Sep 22, 2022
To ramp up in practice every day
Schultz (knee) will increase his practice workload every day leading up to Monday's game against the Giants, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz will have a chance to suit up for Monday Night Football as long as things progress on track through Sunday. The tight end is dealing with a PCL sprain to his right knee, and while it seems like he won't practice in full Thursday, the extent of his participation Friday and Saturday should be more telling as to his game-time status. If Schultz does manage to take the field versus New York on Monday, he will once again be catching passes from Cooper Rush in place of Dak Prescott (thumb).
Sep 20, 2022
Iffy for Monday night
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Schultz is dealing with a PCL sprain to his right knee and is being viewed as questionable in advance of Dallas' Week 3 game Monday against the Giants, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. "We'll see how he works this week. My assessment is [the knee injury] is not long term," Jones said of Schultz.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's injury caused him to exit late in the Cowboys' win over the Bengals last Sunday, and he seems unlikely to be a full practice participant when Dallas begins Week 3 prep in earnest Thursday. Jones' comments suggest that Schultz could make enough progress as the week unfolds to suit up Monday, but fantasy managers may want to begin preparing to have another option available to use at tight end Week 3 in case the 26-year-old isn't ready to play versus the Giants. Even if Schultz gains clearance for Monday's game, he'll be catching passes once again from Cooper Rush while Dak Prescott (thumb) is sidelined until at least Week 4. Before he exited Sunday, Schultz caught two balls for 18 yards on four targets while playing 90 percent of Dallas' snaps on offense.
Sep 19, 2022
Tending to PCL injury
Schultz was diagnosed with a PCL injury in his right knee after exiting Sunday's win over the Bengals, and his availability for the Cowboys' Week 3 matchup with the Giants is uncertain, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz will at least have the benefit of an additional day of rest with the Cowboys not playing the Giants until Monday, but that may provide enough time for the tight end to fully move past the injury. Before he exited the victory over the Bengals, Schultz turned his four targets from quarterback Cooper Rush into two receptions for 18 yards. Rookie Jake Ferguson, who went without a target while playing 58 percent of the Cowboys' offensive snaps Week 2, is the next man up at tight end if Schultz is forced to miss time.
Sep 19, 2022
Dodges major injury
Schultz (knee) is believed to have avoided a long-term injury, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz was forced out of Sunday's win over the Bengals late due to a right knee injury, but the results of Monday's MRI reveal that he's avoided a worst-case scenario. The tight end's status for Week 3 versus the Giants will still need to be monitored, but it looks like Schultz could still have a chance of suiting up for Monday Night Football.
Sep 19, 2022
Set to undergo MRI on knee
Schultz is slated to undergo an MRI on his right knee Monday, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the tight end suffered a knee injury late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Bengals. Prior to his exit from the contest, Schultz caught two of his four targets for 18 yards. For now, his Week 3 status is unclear, but Gehlken does note that Schultz appears to have avoided damage to his ACL.
Sep 12, 2022
Solid results in losing effort
Schultz caught seven of nine targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
It was a night to scrap for the entire Cowboys offense, but at least Schultz was able to get his fantasy managers some garbage-time yardage for a nice start to the 2022 campaign. The speedy tight end still takes a hit in value following the post-game announcement that Dak Prescott (thumb) will require surgery that will cost Dallas' signal caller multiple games. Cooper Rush filled in to close out this forgettable loss, but team owner Jerry Jones might look at bringing in a temporary upgrade from outside the organization, which would ultimately be a slightly-less painful pill to swallow for Schultz and the rest of the position players' collective fantasy values while Prescott mends.
Aug 26, 2022
Unlikely to play
Schultz and most other starters aren't expected to play in Friday's final preseason game against Seattle, with the Cowboys looking ahead to their Week 1 matchup with the Buccaneers, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys will rest starters for a third straight week, prioritizing health over reps throughout the preseason. Schultz could be even busier this year than he was during his breakout 2021, as the Cowboys traded WR Amari Cooper to Cleveland and don't expect WR Michael Gallup (knee) to be ready for Week 1. The downside there is that Schultz will get more attention from defenses, starting with a Tampa unit that has S Antoine Winfield and LBs Lavonte David and Devin White patrolling the middle of the field. The Bucs allowed the 12th most PPR points to TEs last year, but it was largely volume-based without many big plays (six TDs, 6.7 YPT).
Jul 15, 2022
Will play under franchise tag
Schultz is set to play the 2022 season on a one-year guaranteed franchise tag of $10.93 million, Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end and the team were unable to come to terms on a long-term deal by Friday's deadline and the next chance the two sides will have to re-enter such talks will be after the coming season. Schultz, who participated in the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp last month after missing a portion of the squad's voluntary OTAs, seems likely to report to training camp on July 25 without any issues, per Eatman. The 26-year-old is coming off the best campaign of his four-year NFL career, in which the 2018 fourth-rounder caught 78 of his 104 targets for 808 yards and eight TDs in 17 contests. Looking ahead, Schultz remains entrenched as the Cowboys' top tight end and will remain a vital part of the team's passing attack from the get-go in 2022, more so with wideout Amari Cooper having been traded and fellow WR Michael Gallup still recovering from an ACL injury.
Jul 14, 2022
Unlikely to sign extension
Schultz is not expected to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the Cowboys before Friday's deadline, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz appears poised to play the 2022 season on a $10.9 million franchise tag, barring any last-minute breakthrough in his contract negotiations with Dallas. The 25-year-old skipped a portion of the Cowboys' voluntary OTAs due to dissatisfaction with his contract situation before reporting to mandatory minicamp in mid-June. Schultz officially signed his franchise tag tender in March, likely indicating that he will not hold out any further. The tight end improved upon his impressive stat line from 2020 (63-615-4) with 78 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns last season, and, after the trade of wide receiver Amari Cooper, he could be in line for an even bigger role in Dallas' passing game in 2022.
Jun 14, 2022
Reporting to minicamp
Schultz is in line to be present for this week's mandatory minicamp, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end elected to skip the final week of the Cowboys' voluntary OTAs, with an eye toward jump-starting contract negotiations. As things currently stand, Schultz is slated to play this coming season under a $10.9 million franchise tag, but NFL Network's Tom Pelissero relays that talks related to a potential long-term deal have recently picked up. Though nothing is imminent on that front, it appears as though there's mutual interest to that end. The 25-year-old is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he logged a career-best stat line (78-808-8) on 104 targets in 17 games.
Jun 6, 2022
Skipping rest of OTAs
Schultz informed the Cowboys on Monday he intends to skip the remainder of voluntary OTAs due to dissatisfaction with his current contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz has already signed with Dallas for the 2022 season via a one-year, $10.9 million franchise tender, but both sides still have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. The soon-to-be 26-year-old produced a 78-808-8 line on 104 targets across 17 games last season, and he racked up over 600 receiving yards the year prior. In the wake of David Njoku signing a four-year, $56.75 million contract in Cleveland, it's unsurprising to see Schultz attempt to push the Cowboys towards an extension. There's not yet any indication that Schultz could consider skipping mandatory minicamp mid-June, as that would subject him to fines.
Mar 21, 2022
Signs franchise tag
Schultz signed his franchise tag tender with the Cowboys on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys and Schultz' representatives can continue to work out a long-term deal through July 15, but if nothing pans out he'll play out the 2022 season on a $10.9 million salary. After emerging with a 63-615-4 line on 89 targets in 16 games in 2020, he broke out even further with 78 catches (on 104 targets) for 808 yards and eight TDs in 17 contests last season. Dallas has made some adjustments to its receiving corps this offseason, moving on from Amari Cooper (traded to Cleveland) and Cedrick Wilson (signed with Miami), so Schultz' current competition for targets in 2022 are CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, who is recovering from a Week 17 ACL tear.
Mar 8, 2022
Franchise tag official
The Cowboys officially placed their franchise tag on Schultz on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz will carry a $10.9 million salary to stick with the Cowboys for the 2022 campaign, which gives both sides another year to negotiate an extension. The soon-to-be 26-year-old proved his value on offense by racking up 808 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 contests last season, and with Blake Jarwin (hip) expected to miss the start of the 2022 campaign, shoring up the No. 1 tight end spot was exceptionally vital. What's more, Amari Cooper has been floated as a potential cut candidate and Michael Gallup (knee) isn't necessarily a lock for Week 1 even if re-signed. That could position Schultz to kick off the upcoming campaign as the No. 2 target on offense behind CeeDee Lamb.
Mar 8, 2022
Getting franchise tag
The Cowboys will place their franchise tag on Schultz on Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz emerged with 78 catches, 808 receiving yards and eight scores across 17 appearances in 2021, and with rumors abounding about Amari Cooper potentially being cut, it makes obvious sense for Dallas to keep the 2018 fourth-round pick in house. Having Schultz through the 2022 season on just under an $11 million salary gives he and the Cowboys more time to negotiate on a potential long-term deal. Dallas stands to make the transaction official prior to Tuesday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.
Mar 7, 2022
Candidate for franchise tag
The Cowboys may place the franchise tag on Schultz prior to Tuesday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The rumor mill has swirled around the Cowboys' receiving corps in recent days, with Amari Cooper potentially getting cut and Michael Gallup's (knee) reps negotiating an extension for the four-year pro. As a 2018 fourth-round pick, Schultz himself is due a new contract, but the team is considering placing the franchise tag on him to give more time to work out a new deal. If those talks fall through, though, he would be due $10.9 million under the tag in 2022. Schultz is coming off back-to-back productive seasons in which he reeled in 141 of 193 passes for 1,423 yards and 12 touchdowns in 33 contests.
Jan 16, 2022
Leading receiver in wild-card loss
Schultz caught seven of eight targets for 89 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the 49ers in the wild-card round.
ANALYSIS
The tight end was once again Dak Prescott's most reliable option, leading the Cowboys in catches and yards as their season came to a disappointing finish. Schultz proves his 2020 performance was no fluke, setting career highs across the board by hauling in 78 passes on 104 targets for 808 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. He'll head into the offseason an unrestricted free agent, and Schultz has set himself up for a big payday, either from Dallas or from another club.
Jan 8, 2022
Catches two touchdowns
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 21 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 51-26 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Schultz made quite the impact with his few catches, scoring both of his touchdowns in the final two minutes of the first half. The tight end's initial end-zone trip came from two yards, then Schultz revisited pay dirt from nine yards just five seconds before halftime. In doing so, Schultz brought his final touchdown tally this season to eight, doubling his prior career high set last year. The veteran will now turn his focus to Dallas' playoff game next weekend, with his opponent currently undetermined.

Leading receiver in loss
Schultz caught six of 10 targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
He led the Cowboys in targets and receiving yards while tying Cedrick Wilson in receptions. The tight end has an impressive 22-203-2 line on 27 targets over the last three games, but as Dallas will have little on the line in Week 18 against Philadelphia, the team's starters -- including Schultz -- could get some extra rest ahead of the playoffs.
Dec 27, 2021
Stays hot in blowout win
Schultz caught eight of nine targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 56-14 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Schultz kept things rolling with his second touchdown in as many weeks. The 23-year-old has combined for 16 receptions and 149 yards to go along with those two scores after hitting a bit of a midseason slump. The speedy tight end will look to keep things rolling in an important matchup against the Cardinals next Sunday.
Dec 19, 2021
Bounces back big in win
Schultz brought in all eight targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 21-6 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Schultz led the way for the Cowboys' pass-catching corps in receptions and receiving yards while falling just a target short of CeeDee Lamb's team-leading nine. The fourth-year pro's catch total was also a season high, and the entire performance represented a particularly timely resurgence after Schultz had delivered a season-worst 1-4-0 line against Washington in Week 14. Now seemingly back on track, the sure-handed tight end's next opportunity to deliver for managers in the fantasy postseason comes in a Week 16 home matchup against Washington.
Dec 13, 2021
Only one catch in win
Schultz caught one of three targets for four yards in Sunday's win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
It was something of an odd day for the Dallas offense, as Dak Prescott struggled to move the ball consistently even with the defense giving him some short fields, and Schultz's lack of production reflected that erratic performance. The tight end's numbers have declined since Michael Gallup returned to the lineup, and with CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper also healthy, there may not be a lot of looks left over for Schultz.
Dec 3, 2021
Five grabs against Saints
Schultz caught all five of his targets for 43 yards in Thursday's 27-17 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The tight end continues to deliver solid, if unspectacular, numbers. Schultz hasn't reached 60 receiving yards since Week 6, but he's seen at least five targets in five of the last six games and posted a 21-221-1 line over that stretch on the steady volume. He'll look to make an impact in Week 14 against Washington.
Nov 26, 2021
Productive in loss to Las Vegas
Schultz caught three of seven targets for 46 yards and a touchdown, while also catching a two-point conversion, in a 36-33 overtime loss to the Raiders on Thanksgiving.
ANALYSIS
While it wasn't an efficient effort, Schultz salvaged his day with a 32-yard TD catch from Dak Prescott down the seam in the fourth quarter, with Prescott going right back to Schultz for a two-point conversion that tied the score at 30-30 with less than three minutes left on the clock. The touchdown was the fourth of the season for the fourth-year tight end, tying his career high from last year, but Schultz will likely remain a volatile fantasy option in Week 13 against the Saints.
Nov 21, 2021
Leads team in receiving Sunday
Schultz caught six of eight targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 19-9 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
While Michael Gallup led the Cowboys with 10 targets, Schultz was Dak Prescott's most reliable option and tied for the team lead in catches while leading in receiving yards. The six grabs also tied his season high, and with Amari Cooper (COVID-19) already ruled out for a Thanksgiving Day game against the Raiders and CeeDee Lamb (concussion) potentially unavailable as well, the tight end could be in line for big volume.
Nov 15, 2021
Only one catch in rout
Schultz caught one of two targets for 14 yards in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Dak Prescott attempted 31 passes on the afternoon (with four more coming from Ezekiel Elliott on a trick play and then Cooper Rush on the final couple drives of a blowout win), but Schultz was an afterthought in the offense as he tied for his season low in targets. It's not yet clear whether his reduction in volume was due to this particular matchup, or Michael Gallup's return to action, or a bit of both, but Schultz suddenly seems a lot riskier heading into a Week 11 clash with Kansas City.
Nov 7, 2021
Leads team in receiving
Schultz recorded four receptions on five targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Schultz led the team in receiving yards, though that is more of an indication of the Cowboys' lack of offensive production than a tremendous performance on his part. He compiled the majority of his production with receptions of 20 and 17 yards, marking his fourth game this season in which has recorded a catch of 20 or more yards. Schultz has seen a consistent role in the office this season, and that should only be solidified while Blake Jarwin (hip) remains sidelined.
Nov 2, 2021
Struggles in Sunday's win
Schultz caught two of seven targets for 11 yards in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
While the Cowboys' passing game as a whole has plenty of success with Cooper Rush at the reins in place of Dak Prescott (calf), Schultz was not on the same page as the No. 2 QB and put together his worst performance of the season. Prescott is expected back in Week 9 against the Broncos, however, which could allow the tight end to bounce back to the level that saw him to post a 23-296-3 line on 29 targets over his prior four games.
Oct 17, 2021
Another strong effort Sunday
Schultz caught five of six targets for 79 yards in Sunday's 35-29 overtime win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The tight end continues to show a great rapport with Dak Prescott, hauling in at least five passes in five of six games so far this season, but Schultz missed out on his fourth TD of the year when Blake Jarwin caught a one-yard score instead. Schultz will head into the Cowboys' Week 7 bye with 31 receptions on 37 targets for 359 yards and three touchdowns.
Oct 3, 2021
Soaks up targets
Schultz recorded six receptions on eight targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 4 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Schultz nearly replicated his Week 3 performance, when he led the Cowboys in all receiving categories. In Week 4, he led the team in targets and receptions, but was out-gained by Amari Cooper. He had a few highlight plays, which included an 18-yard reception -- his longest of the day -- and and a six-yard touchdown. With the performance, Schultz now has at least seven targets in three of four games on the season.
Sep 28, 2021
Scores twice in leading effort
Schultz caught six of seven targets for 80 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's 41-21 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Schultz led the Cowboys in all major receiving categories, scoring a couple of times along the way. The tight end's first touchdown came on a wide-open 19-yarder in the first quarter, then Schultz showed niftiness running after the catch on his 22-yard score in the fourth. Through three games, the veteran has now hauled in 14 of 15 throws his way, representing a rather dependable option for quarterback Dak Prescott, but the presence of so many playmakers within Dallas' offense somewhat limits Schultz' weekly upside.
Sep 21, 2021
Quiet in Week 2 win
Schultz caught both his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Blake Jarwin caught one more pass than Schultz and gained more real estate with his grabs, but neither tight end was particularly productive. It will likely take an injury to one of them to make the other a viable fantasy option on a weekly basis.
Sep 10, 2021
Solid season-opening effort
Schultz secured all six of his targets for 45 yards in the Cowboys' 31-29 loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The sure-handed tight end turned in an efficient performance that saw him slot in third in receptions and receiving yards on the Cowboys behind the prolific wideout duo of Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. Position mate Blake Jarwin was active and turned in three grabs of his own in his first regular-season action since tearing his ACL against the Rams in the 2020 season opener, but if Thursday is any indication, Schultz will still retain a solid role in an offense that could tilt toward the pass in quite a few games.
Aug 22, 2021
One grab Saturday
Schultz caught his only target for nine yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Both Schultz and Blake Jarwin saw snaps with the first-team offense, but it was Jarwin who made the bigger impact as he caught a 25-yard pass to set up the Cowboys' first TD of the night. It could be tough for either tight end to make a consistent fantasy impact as long as both are healthy, but Schultz is more likely to be the secondary receiving option of the duo.
Aug 14, 2021
Should be ready for Week 1
Schultz (ankle) didn't attend Friday's preseason game against the Cardinals but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
This could affect his competition with Blake Jarwin, who finished with no catches on one target Friday in his first game appearance since suffering an ACL tear last September. Schultz filled in capably with 63 receptions, playing 84.8 percent of snaps in an offense that attempted 639 passes. A similar workload is unlikely if Jarwin stays healthy, but that doesn't automatically mean Schultz will hand over the starting job. It sounds like he'll be back for Week 1 even if he misses the rest of training camp and the preseason. Schultz injured his ankle Wednesday at practice.
Aug 11, 2021
Nursing ankle sprain
Schultz was diagnosed with an ankle sprain after exiting Wednesday's practice, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
There's no timeline for Schultz's return to the field, but it isn't believed to be a serious sprain.. The 25-year-old seems unlikely to be available for Friday's preseason opener in Arizona, even if the injury is a minor concern. Schultz broke out in 2020 with 63 receptions for 615 yards and four touchdowns after Blake Jarwin went down in Week 1 with a torn ACL. The pair should continue to compete for the starting role at tight end, assuming Schultz's ankle issue doesn't impact his availability for the start of the season.
Aug 11, 2021
Suffers ankle injury
Schultz injured his ankle at Wednesday's practice, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Aided by Blake Jarwin's Week 1 ACL tear, Schultz broke out last season to the tune of 63 catches (on 89 targets) for 615 yards and four touchdowns. And the output came without Dak Prescott (shoulder) for most of it due to his ugly ankle injury. Only now, Schultz has picked up his own health concern, which isn't believed to be serious, per Slater. With the Cowboys' next preseason contest Friday in Arizona, it wouldn't surprise if the team is cautious and keeps Schultz on the sideline until he's back to 100 percent.
Aug 5, 2021
One grab in exhibition opener
Schultz secured one of two targets for 15 yards during the Cowboys' 16-3 preseason loss to the Steelers in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.
ANALYSIS
Schultz opened the game with Garrett Gilbert operating as his quarterback and was productive on the one grab he was able to make. The 2018 fourth-round pick turned in an impressive 63-615-4 line across 16 games last season following Blake Jarwin's Week 1 season-ending knee injury, and with the latter still being handled with care this summer, Schultz is still slated to see a solid amount of work in practices and preseason contest for the time being.
Aug 2, 2021
Seeing most first-team reps so far
Schultz has received the bulk of first-team reps in training camp as Blake Jarwin gets brought along slowly following last year's knee injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The split in reps between the two is likely to change as Jarwin gets fully up to speed, but for his part Schultz is having a good camp and isn't going to give up the top spot on the depth chart easily. The numbers suggest Jarwin is the better receiver of the two, but that doesn't mean he'll see more targets during the season.
Jul 22, 2021
Facing threat to starting job
Shultz will compete with fellow tight end Blake Jarwin, who appears ready for the start of training camp after suffering a torn ACL in Week 1 last season, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jarwin suffered the injury six months after signing a three-year extension, so the team still has some investment in him even after a lost season. His absence opened the door for Schultz to see 89 targets, but the 2018 fourth-round pick finished with a modest receiving line (63-615-4), as big plays were few and far between. The two now figure to compete for a starting job this summer, and it's possible the Cowboys ultimately settle on a committee approach at tight end.
Jan 4, 2021
Ends season on high note
Schultz caught seven of 10 targets for 70 yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The third-year tight end has his highest yardage total since Week 4 while tying his season high in targets during the Cowboys' final outing of 2020. Schultz came into the season with low expectations, but a season-ending knee injury to Blake Jarwin in Week 1 thrust him into a starting role and he never looked back. Schultz caught multiple passes in 14 of his 15 starts, finishing the year with a 63-615-4 line on 89 targets after managing only 13 grabs through his first 27 NFL games. Jarwin is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp next season, but Schultz played well enough in his absence to earn a substantial role in 2021, even if he isn't the clear-cut starter.
Dec 28, 2020
Three grabs against Eagles
Schultz caught three of four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Andy Dalton was primarily focused on attacking a vulnerable Philly secondary with his trio of excellent wide receivers (Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb), leaving little production left over for Schultz. The third-year tight end has caught multiple passes in 10 straight games, giving him a decent floor in deep PPR leagues, but he hasn't topped 53 receiving yards and has only two TDs during that stretch.
Dec 21, 2020
Scores fourth TD
Schultz caught both his targets for 14 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
He was on the end on a 12-yard toss from Andy Dalton in the third quarter, giving the tight end his first TD since Week 11 and fourth of the season. Schultz has seen only 11 targets over the last four games, giving him limited fantasy appeal heading into Week 16's clash with the Eagles.
Dec 14, 2020
Limited involvement in win
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 34 yards in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys' passing game didn't need to do much after three early Cincy fumbles led to 17 first-half points for Dallas, limiting Schultz's production. The tight end hasn't reached 50 receiving yards in five straight games heading into a Week 15 clash with the 49ers.
Dec 9, 2020
Four catches in loss
Schultz caught all four of his targets for 44 yards in Tuesday's loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The tight end was one of five Dallas players to reach 40 receiving yards, as Andy Dalton spread the ball around while trying to mount an ultimately futile comeback in the second half. Schultz has seen at least four targets in seven straight games, but he has only one TD and hasn't topped 53 receiving yards during that stretch, giving him very limited fantasy appeal in most formats.
Nov 27, 2020
Five grabs in big loss
Schultz caught all five of his targets for 24 yards in Thursday's loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
With Andy Dalton under consistent pressure from Chase Young and the Washington pass rush, Schultz was utilized as little more than a bail-out option by the veteran quarterback, with his longest reception going for only seven yards. The tight end has still caught at least four passes in four straight games, giving him a steady floor in PPR formats heading into Week 13's road clash with the Ravens.
Nov 23, 2020
Finds end zone Sunday
Schultz caught four of six targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The tight end continues to see fairly steady target volume no matter who is under center for the Cowboys, but with Andy Dalton back at the helm, Schultz was able to score his first TD since Week 4. He'll look to build on his red-zone chemistry with Dalton in a Thanksgiving Day clash with Washington.
Nov 10, 2020
Corrals four passes in loss
Schultz caught four of seven targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Schultz hasn't been bothered by the quarterback turnover through the past two weeks, as he produced 10 receptions for 101 yards on 15 receptions while playing at least 95 percent of the snaps in each game. The third-year tight end now has a 35-383-2 line through nine games. The Cowboys may get Andy Dalton (concussion) back following the Week 10 bye.
Nov 2, 2020
Sees eight targets in loss
Schultz reeled in six of eight targets for 53 yards Sunday in the Cowboys' 23-9 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Schultz's production has been trending down since Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury Week 5, but the tight end benefited from third-string quarterback Ben DiNucci drawing the start in place of the concussed Andy Dalton. The Eagles' fierce pass rush coupled with a banged-up offensive line effectively eliminated the Cowboys' downfield passing game, forcing DiNucci to rely on Schultz as a safety valve underneath. Schultz was able to turn his high target count into decent production Sunday, but his overall fantasy upside will be capped now that the Dallas offense is no longer the up-tempo, high-scoring unit it was earlier this season when Prescott was under center.
Oct 26, 2020
Two grabs in Sunday's loss
Schultz caught two of four targets for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
The tight end's four targets ranked third on the Cowboys for the day, and he was the only other Dallas player to catch multiple passes aside from Amari Cooper. The outlook for the entire offense is bleak due to multiple injuries along the offensive line, but with rookie Ben DiNucci potentially being forced into action in Week 8 in place of Andy Dalton (concussion), Schultz could still see decent target volume as a security blanket for the young QB in his first NFL start.
Oct 20, 2020
Snags four passes in losing effort
Schultz corralled four of his five targets for 35 receiving yards during Monday's 38-10 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
On what was a sluggish offensive night that saw the Cowboys generate only 10 total points, Andy Dalton was capable of putting up junk-time production, distributing 34 completions, 266 passing yards and a touchdown to his array of talented targets. Schultz was the team's third-leading receiver, also tying his second-highest catch total of the season during the blowout loss. He had an off game with just one catch and six yards against the Giants last Sunday, but otherwise he has scored two touchdowns while averaging 60.5 receiving yards per game since Week 2.
Oct 12, 2020
Just one catch Sunday
Schultz caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The tight end didn't see much involvement in the passing game, as Dallas' wide receivers accounted for 25 of the 32 targets thrown by Dak Prescott (ankle) and Andy Dalton. With Prescott lost for the year and the offense potentially forced to be a little more conservative as a result, however, Schultz's role could become more consistent if he can establish some chemistry with Dalton.
Oct 7, 2020
Clear of thigh issue
Schultz (thigh) wasn't listed on the Cowboys' injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Near the conclusion of this past Sunday's loss to the Browns, Schultz took a helmet to his thigh, but the issue hasn't hurt his ability to take part in practice three days later. With Blake Jarwin (knee) on injured reserve, Schultz will be Dallas' No. 1 TE, which has translated to 18 receptions (on 28 targets) for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
Oct 6, 2020
Expected to play Week 5
Schultz (thigh) is expected to play Sunday against the Giants, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end took a helmet to the thigh late in Sunday's loss to the Browns but the team is optimistic that he won't miss time. His level of participation in practice as the week progresses will give a clearer picture of his status heading into Sunday. If Schultz is limited, Blake Bell and Sean McKeon would see additional reps.
Oct 5, 2020
Hauls in TD against Browns
Schultz caught four of eight targets for 72 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
With Dak Prescott forced to air it out every week to try and compensate for the Cowboys' atrocious defense, Schultz is getting plenty of chances to make an impact, hauling in 17 catches on 24 targets for 208 yards and two TDs over that last three weeks. His production isn't likely to be consistent on a week-to-week basis given all the other options at Prescott's disposal, but the tight end end is still headed for a breakout season.
Sep 28, 2020
Modest numbers in Week 4
Schultz caught four of six targets for 48 yards in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The tight end wasn't able to follow up his impressive Week 2 with a similar performance, but Schultz still received a healthy number of targets, although it should be noted Dak Prescott attempted 57 passes overall in a 38-31 loss. Schultz could be headed for a productive day in Week 4 against a Browns defense that's already given up 22 catches and three TDs to tight ends through three weeks.
Sep 20, 2020
Breaks out with 10 targets Week 2
Schultz corralled nine of 10 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 40-39 win against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy GMs in leagues large and small will be rushing to the waiver wire to add the 24-year-old tight end, as he may have secured a key role within Dallas' high-octane passing attack as result of Blake Jarwin's torn ACL. Schultz attracted just 19 combined targets across his first 27 NFL appearances between 2018 and 2019, but he has already garnered 14 in the early going of the new campaign. The slate toughens up somewhat in Week 3, as the Cowboys take on a Seahawks defense that permitted just three catches and 38 receiving yards to the tight end position in its season opener.
Sep 14, 2020
Four targets in Week 1
Schultz caught one of four targets for 11 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Dak Prescott looked his way more often after Blake Jarwin hurt his knee in the first half, but the extra targets didn't result in much production for Schultz. With Jarwin feared lost for the season due to a torn ACL, Schultz could step into a much more significant role in the offense as the Cowboys' primary receiving TE with Blake Bell mainly handling blocking assignments.
Sep 2, 2019
Returns to practice
Schultz (ankle) participated at Monday's practice, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz dealt with the ankle injury through much of the preseason but appears on track to be ready for Sunday's season opener against the Giants. The 23-year-old projects to serve as the third tight end for the Cowboys.
Aug 22, 2019
Still nursing ankle injury
Schultz (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz played 27 offensive snaps during the preseason opener but hasn't practiced in almost two weeks due to the ankle sprain. Codey McElroy (neck) and Blake Jarwin (ankle) are also managing injuries, leaving the Cowboys short on tight end depth.
