Returns to practice
Luter (pelvis) was cleared to start practicing Wednesday, Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
Luter was placed on injured reserve last November and didn't return for the remainder of the season. The 25-year-old has battled injuries in his first two seasons in the NFL, only appearing in 10 games. He is looking to prove himself this season and find a role in the cornerback room behind established starters Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo Green.

Goes on IR with pelvic injury
Luter (pelvis) was placed on the 49ers' injured reserve Saturday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Luter appears to have injured his pelvis during practice this week, as he popped up on Friday's injury report as a DNP. It's serious enough to warrant a multi-game absence, and since he'll be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season games, the earliest Luter can return would be Week 15 against the Rams on Thursday, Dec. 12. Luter has played in just three games and has mostly played on special teams.

Healthy ahead of Week 8
Luter (pelvis) did not appear on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Luter was forced to miss the team's 28-18 loss to Kansas City in Week 7 due to a pelvis injury, but he now appears to be a full go ahead of Week 8 against Dallas. The cornerback has appeared in one game this season, recording two tackles and a forced fumble in Week 6 versus Seattle.

Inactive versus Kansas City

ANALYSIS
Luter has appeared in one game this season, logging three snaps on defense and another 13 on special teams.

Back at practice Wednesday
Luter (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Luter was inactive for Week 14 against the Seahawks after being unable to log a practice session leading up to the contest. His full participation Wednesday is a good sign he will make his return for Sunday's NFC West clash against the Cardinals.

Not suiting up Week 14
Luter (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Luter didn't practice at all this week and entered Sunday deemed doubtful, so his inability to play was expected. The 23-year-old's absence probably won't impact the 49ers' defensive gameplan, as all 37 of Luter's snaps have come on special teams this season.
Dec 8, 2023
Unlikely to play in Week 14
Luter (hamstring) is considered doubtful to play Sunday versus the Seahawks, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Luter is dealing with a hamstring injury and his chances to play in Week 14 appear rather slim. Considering he's yet to play a defensive snap this year, his possible absence doesn't carry much of an impact.
Dec 4, 2023
To miss time with hamstring
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Luter was expected to miss a week or so due to a hamstring injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
His coach's comments suggest that Luter will likely be sidelined for Week 14 versus the Seahawks at the least. He has played exclusively on special teams through three games this season, so San Francisco will have to try to replace his production in that phase.

Making NFL debut
Luter (knee) is active ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of South Alabama had been on San Francisco's PUP list since late August, but he was activated to the team's active roster yesterday and is now in line to play in Sunday's contest. Luter is expected to serve as a rotational cornerback on the 49ers' defense now that he's ready to return to the field.

Back from PUP list
Luter (knee) was activated from the reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Luter is back on the roster after beginning his NFL career on the PUP list. The 2023 fifth-round draft pick suffered a hyperextension and bone bruise in his knee during training camp. Luter could make his NFL debut Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Nearing return to action
San Francisco designated Luter (knee) for return from its physically unable to perform list Monday.
ANALYSIS
The move opens a 21-day window during which the 49ers can officially activate Luter before they'd be forced to shut him down for the remainder of the season. He appears to be close to making his regular-season NFL debut heading into Week 10.

Lands on PUP list
The 49ers placed Luter (knee) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Luter continues to work his way back from a hyperextension and a bone bruise, injuries he picked up during OTAs. The rookie fifth-round pick will need to spend at least the first four games of the season on the PUP list.

Trending in right direction
General manager John Lynch said Luter (knee) is "trending well" but it will be some time before he comes off the PUP list, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Luter is dealing with a hyperextended and a bone bruise, both injuries he suffered during OTAs. The rookie fifth-round pick projects to compete for a depth role when healthy, but it remains to be seen whether he'll have to miss a significant portion of training camp.

Placed on active/PUP list
The 49ers placed Luter on the active/PUP list due to an undisclosed injury, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The severity of the injury remains unclear, but Luter will be eligible to practice and/or play at any point during the preseason. The South Alabama product was selected in the fifth round of this year's draft and should compete for a depth role when healthy.

Toolsy corner for San Fran
The 49ers selected Luter in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 155th overall.
ANALYSIS
Luter is a bit skinny at just 6-feet, 189 pounds, but the South Alabama product features excellent reach (32 and 3/8-inch arms) and prototypical Cover-3 type athleticism otherwise. Luter logged a 4.46-second 40 and 40.5-inch vertical at the combine, and the South Alabama pass defense was quite strong under Luter's watch.
