Being dealt to New Orleans
The Patriots agreed Monday to trade Godchaux to the Saints in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux heads to New Orleans with one year remaining on the two-year, $18 million extension he inked with New England last offseason. The veteran defensive tackle hasn't missed a regular-season game since 2020, and he's notched more than 60 tackles in three of the last four seasons. He'll operate as a key run stopper within the Saints' defensive front for the 2025 campaign.

Finishes 2024 with 67 tackles
Godchaux played in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 67 tackles (43 solo) and one pass defense.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux has played in every single regular-season game since joining the Patriots in 2021 and led the defensive front in tackles in 2024. His 67 combined tackles were his most since 2019 when he played for the Dolphins (75). Godchaux signed a two-year, $18 million contract extension with the Patriots in July of 2024, and the veteran nose tackle out of LSU is expected to lead the defense in 2025 under incoming head coach Mike Vrabel.

Logs eight tackles against Bolts
Godchaux finished Saturday's 40-7 loss to the Chargers with eight tackles (five solo).
ANALYSIS
Godchaux and Sione Takitaki finished Saturday's game with the third-most tackles on the Patriots behind Jahlani Tavai (10) and Kyle Dugger (nine). It was Godchaux's highest-tackling game since Week 6 against the Texans, and through 16 regular-season games he's tallied 63 tackles (22 solo) and one pass defense. The Patriots will host the Bills in Week 18, and Buffalo is expected to rest its starters as it has locked up the No. 2 seed in the AFC heading into the postseason.

Active in loss
Godchaux tallied eight tackles (four solo) in the Patriots 41-21 loss to the Texans in Week 6.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux's tackle total was tied for first on the Patriots' defense. He was on the field for 45 defensive snaps (73 percent), which marked his highest percentage through six weeks. The nose tackle will look to continue providing a presence in the trenches in Week 7 when New England takes on the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

Inks extension with New England
The Patriots signed Godchaux to a two-year extension worth up to $21 million Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran defensive lineman has impressed over his last three seasons in New England, and he's now received his proper compensation. Godchaux appeared in 17 games in 2023 and tallied 56 total tackles for a Patriots defense that ranked third in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game (93.2 yards). The 29-year-old will receive $16.5 million in guaranteed money from 2025-2026, and he's expected to remain a stalwart on a stellar New England defense for years to come.

Present at training camp
Godchaux reported to Patriots training camp Tuesday, Douglas Kyed of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
On his personal X account in June, Godchaux said that he "would love to retire" in New England and has been seeking a contract extension during the offseason. After spending his first four years in the league with the Dolphins, Godchaux signed with the Patriots in 2021, and he has played in every single regular-season game over the last three years, posting 56 tackles (24 solo) and one fumble recovery in 2023.

Seeks new contract
Coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that Godchaux is negotiating for a new contract, Michael Giardi of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Mayo said that Godchaux was present at practice Monday, but that he didn't participate. Godchaux has suited up for a full slate of 17 regular-season games in each of his three seasons with the Patriots, never playing less than 600 defensive snaps in that span. He's currently entering the final year of his deal with the team.

Pats' leading tackler in Germany
Godchaux recorded eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 10-6 loss against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux recorded eight tackles for the second game in a row in Week 10, and he totaled at least five tackles for the fourth time in the last six weeks. Unfortunately for IDP managers though, he hasn't been able to sack the quarterback or force any turnovers in 2023. After New England's bye in Week 11, the Patriots will travel to face a run-heavy Giants team.

Cleared to play Sunday
Godchaux (ankle) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux was a limited participant at practice each day ahead of Week 4 prep, but he'll still suit up versus Dallas. Across three games, the veteran nose tackle has recorded five tackles in 84 defensive snaps.
Sep 29, 2023
Listed as questionable
Godchaux (ankle) is considered questionable for Sunday's game in Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux's questionable status comes following a limited practice session Friday. His backup, Christian Barmore (knee), has also drawn a questionable designation, so the Patriots have the potential to be a little thin in the trenches. More clarity on his status figures to come Sunday morning.

Won't return versus Jets
Godchaux (ankle) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Jets, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux logged one tackle before exiting with an ankle injury, which will leave him sidelined for the second half. Third-string nose tackle Daniel Ekuale (elbow) was also ruled out for the remainder of the game, meaning Christian Barmore will have to step into a primary role on the middle of New England's defense. Godchaux will look to work his way back before the Patriots' next game against Dallas on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Exits with injury
Godchaux (ankle) is questionable to come back into Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The starting defensive tackle made four tackles over New England's first two contests. Godchaux signed with the Patriots before the 2021 season and has started 35 of 36 games since.

Amasses game-high 10 stops
Godchaux recorded 10 tackles (three solo) during Thursday's 24-10 loss to the Bills
ANALYSIS
With both Carl Davis (coach's decision) and Christian Barmore (knee) sidelined in Week 13, Godchaux was able to collect a game-high 10 stops while playing 73 percent of New England's defensive snaps. The 28-year-old will likely remain heavily involved against Arizona next Monday night if either Davis or Barmore are unable to return.

Signs extension with Pats
New England signed Godchaux to a two-year, $20.8 million contract extension Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old defensive tackle performed well as a starter for the Patriots last year, and they saw fit to extend his contract despite the fact that 2021 second-round pick Christian Barmore is waiting in the wings. Godchaux is more of a gap-filler and double team-eater than a tackling machine or a pass-rusher, so he likely won't be fantasy-relevant any time soon despite being a quality real-life player.
Dec 8, 2021
Totals 10 tackles
Godchaux totaled 10 tackles (six solo) in Monday's 14-10 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux tallied his highest single-game tackle total of the season, leading the Patriot defense in tackles in this contest. Prior to this contest, the 27-year-old only had one game with more than five total tackles. If the defensive lineman could consistently put up these types of tackling numbers, an already strong New England defense would become a whole lot stronger.

Heading to New England
Godchaux (shoulder) and the Patriots agreed to terms Monday on a two-year contract worth up to $16 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux will remain in the AFC East with a contract that includes $9 million guaranteed. The bicep surgery he underwent back in October carried a three-month recovery timeframe, so the nose tackle should be fully healthy and have no issue passing his physical with the Patriots.

Hits IR, has surgery
The Dolphins placed Godchaux (biceps) on injured reserve Friday, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux underwent surgery Friday morning, per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, and he still hopes to return down the stretch this season. The starting nose tackle is expected to carry a three month recovery timeframe, which could leave the door open for a postseason return should Miami qualify for the playoffs.
Oct 13, 2020
Faces three-month recovery
Godchaux suffered a biceps injury in Sunday's win over the 49ers and is expected to miss three months, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury was expected to end Godchaux's season, but following a second opinion, the 25-year-old nose tackle could return near the end of the season or for a possible playoff appearance. He'll be placed on IR in the near future, though, and if the Dolphins are out of contention, Godchaux could be shut down for the year. The LSU product posted 75 tackles and two sacks last season, and he'll become a free agent in March.

Taken off COVID-19 list
The Dolphins activated Godchaux from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
ANALYSIS
Godchaux spent two days on the list before being cleared to return to team facilities. The 25-year-old nose tackle is heading into his fourth year with the Dolphins after marking career highs in tackles (75) and sacks (two) in 2019. However, Godchaux could face competition from rookie second-round pick Raekwon Davis (illness) through training camp.
Aug 5, 2020
Heads to COVID-19 list
The Dolphins placed Godchaux (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The starting nose tackle has either tested positive for COVID-19 or come into close contact with someone who did. He'll need to gain full clearance before returning to practice.
