Leading rusher on MNF
Singletary rushed 12 times for 68 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 34 yards in Monday's 33-15 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Singletary made his mark on Monday Night Football when he lined up in the Wildcat formation and ripped off a 22-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter. The 27-year-old finished as the game's leading rusher a week after being overshadowed by backfield mate Tyrone Tracy. The latter finished with 33 net yards on 11 touches Monday, continuing a recent trend where both veteran backs split the workload while alternating strong performances. Singletary has quietly entered the mix as a flex option in standard fantasy formats after recording double-digit carries in three straight games while hitting paydirt thrice over that span. The Giants will be on a bye next week and resume play against the Commanders on Dec. 14 in Week 15.

Outplayed by Tracy in Week 12
Singletary rushed 14 times for 47 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 34-27 overtime loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Singletary had 14 touches to Tyrone Tracy's 23. Tracy churned out 130 scrimmage yards and has pulled away from Singletary as the busier and more effective part of the Giants' running back platoon. It won't show up on the stat sheet, but Singletary also touched the ball on Wan'Dale Robinson's 39-yard touchdown catch on the opening drive, tossing the ball back to Jameis Winston on a flea flicker. Whether the Giants get Jaxson Dart (concussion) back or give Winston a third straight start under center in Week 13 against the Patriots, Singletary's likely to continue working as a complementary option alongside Tracy.
Nov 16, 2025
Records pair of rush TDs in loss
Singletary rushed 16 times for 44 yards and two touchdowns and brought in his only target for three yards in the Giants' 27-20 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary wasn't efficient on the ground, but he made up for the modest yardage with five- and two-yard touchdown runs in the first half. The veteran back logged just three fewer carries than Tyrone Tracy, but the latter managed to double up Singletary in rushing yardage and also contributed 51 receiving yards. Consequently, Singletary projects to continue serving in a No. 2 role during a Week 12 road matchup against the Lions.
Nov 9, 2025
Gets 11 touches in Week 10
Singletary rushed eight times for 20 yards and caught all three of his targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Singletary ceded most of the rushing workload to Tyrone Tracy (14 carries for 71 yards), but the former finished with a two-yard advantage in scrimmage yards (73 to 71). Most of Singletary's yardage came on a 41-yard catch on a fourth-quarter pass from Russell Wilson, who came into the game after Jaxson Dart suffered a concussion in the second half. Singletary should continue to platoon with Tracy, but expectations for the Giants' offense would be low if Dart doesn't play in Week 11 against the Packers.
Nov 2, 2025
Leads Giants RBs with 10 touches
Singletary rushed eight times for 43 yards and caught both of his targets for eight yards in Sunday's 34-24 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Singletary outplayed Tyrone Tracy in the first game after Cam Skattebo's season-ending ankle injury. Tracy turned five carries and four targets into 37 scrimmage yards. The Giants' only rushing touchdown of the game was scored by Jaxson Dart, who also led the team with 56 rushing yards. The rookie quarterback will likely remain involved in the rushing attack against the Bears in Week 10, but Singletary and Tracy both look poised to maintain significant roles while splitting carries in the aftermath of Cam Skattebo's season-ending ankle injury.
Oct 27, 2025
Likely to move into larger role
Singletary seems set to move into the Giants' No. 2 RB role after Cam Skattebo suffered a season-ending ankle dislocation Sunday against Philadelphia, per Art Stapleton of northjersey.com.
ANALYSIS
Skattebo's injury will likely thrust Tyrone Tracy back into the No. 1 RB role, while Singletary should settle in as Tracy's backup. The Giants also seem likely to add another tailback to the 53-man roster, which could mean that Dante Miller will get signed off the team's practice squad. After Skattebo was hurt in the second quarter Sunday, Tracy logged seven carries and got two targets on a 64 percent offensive snap share while Singletary tallied two carries and one target on a 19 percent snap share, which could hint at how the time will be split between the pair moving forward. Singletary didn't gain any yards on his two totes but did notch a very impressive 28-yard catch on his only target.
Oct 20, 2025
Continues to have minor role
Singletary rushed twice for two yards in a Week 7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite the fact that New York entered the fourth quarter having built a 19-0 lead, Singletary continued to spend almost the entire game on the bench. His two carries came on back-to-back plays late in the second period, and he logged just one additional offensive snap in the contest. The veteran running back got some extra looks when Tyrone Tracy was sidelined with an injury in Weeks 4 and 5 (and for part of Week 3), but while Tracy and No. 1 RB Cam Skattebo are healthy, it appears Singletary will be relegated to very limited opportunities in the Giants offense.
Oct 10, 2025
Gets limited looks in Week 6 win
Singletary rushed three times for 10 yards and didn't log any receiving targets in Thursday's 34-17 win against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Singletary continued to get a bit of work even with the return of Tyrone Tracy to New York's backfield, but neither Singletary nor Tracy did anything of note. Meanwhile, rookie Cam Skattebo continued to cement his status as the team's workhorse back with 19 carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns along with two catches for 12 yards. Skattebo was on the field for 71 percent of the Giants' offensive plays, followed by Tracy at 30 percent and Singletary at a modest six percent (four total snaps). Given that usage, it appears Singletary will fade back into the No. 3 RB role when both Skattebo and Tracy are healthy, giving the veteran very little fantasy value.
Oct 6, 2025
Held in check Sunday
Singletary rushed six times for 20 yards and caught one of two targets for four yards in a Week 5 loss to New Orleans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight week, Singletary worked as New York's No. 2 RB behind Cam Skattebo. That role didn't yield much production for the veteran ball carrier, however, as he totaled a modest 24 yards on seven touches. Singletary's six carries and 20 rushing yards were actually third on the Giants -- Skattebo ran 15 times for 59 yards while QB Jaxson Dart rushed seven times for 55 yards -- though no other tailback on the team took an offensive snap. Singletary's time as Skattebo's backup may be coming to an end, as Tyrone Tracy (shoulder) was able to practice last Friday in a limited fashion before ultimately being deemed inactive. With that said, New York has a short turnaround with a Thursday matchup against Philadelphia on tap, so Singletary could get one more shot to log a handful of carries in Week 6.
Sep 29, 2025
Runs for 28 yards in Week 4 win
Singletary rushed seven times for 28 yards and was not targeted through the air in Sunday's 21-18 victory versus the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
With Tyrone Tracy (shoulder) sidelined, Singletary was the only Giants RB other than Cam Skattebo to get action on offense. While Skattebo was deployed as the clear lead back -- he logged 57 offensive snaps to Singletary's 19 -- the latter finished with season-high marks in both touches and yards. Singletary remains an unappealing fantasy asset in most formats, but he figures to continue to seeing a slight uptick in usage for as long as Tracy is unable to suit up.
Sep 22, 2025
In line for increased role
Tyrone Tracy is slated to miss time after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, so Singletary will likely move up to the Giants' No. 2 RB role.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear at this point how long Tracy will be sidelined, but it's likely that he'll miss at least next Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Chargers, and there's a very real possibility that he'll be sidelined beyond that contest as well. Rookie Cam Skattebo was impressive in racking up 121 yards from scrimmage (60 rushing and 61 receiving) while taking on the bulk of the backfield work Sunday night, and he's the obvious choice to move up to the RB1 role while Tracy is sidelined (and possibly beyond). Singletary wasn't a big part of the team's offense against the Chiefs despite Tracy's early exit, but he did long a season-high four carries and 11 rushing yards while also serving as the team's top kick returner with 134 return yards. The Giants may ultimately decide to deploy Skattebo in a workhorse role, and the club will likely add a running back to the gameday roster (possibly Dante Miller off the practice squad) while Tracy is out, but regardless, Singletary seems to be in line for at least a slight bum
Sep 15, 2025
Nets zero yards in minor role
Singletary rushed once for four yards and caught his only target for minus-4 yards in Sunday's Week 2 overtime loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
In a significant development for Singletary's role on offense, rookie Cam Skattebo led New York with 11 carries and 45 rushing yards while starter Tyrone Tracy netted 51 yards on nine touches (five rushes and four receptions). Skattebo's effectiveness Sunday will likely earn him more work going forward, while Tracy isn't likely to be phased out of the offense, especially given his skill set as a receiver. That presumably leaves Singletary to fend for scraps, diminishing what was already minimal fantasy viability. Through two weeks, the veteran RB has logged just 14 offensive snaps, tallying five touches (four carries and one catch) totaling a meager nine yards.
Sep 8, 2025
Nets only nine yards in opener
Singletary rushed three times for nine yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Singletary didn't get his first carry until the second quarter. He gained eight yards on his second rush attempt but combined for just one yard on his other two carries. Tyrone Tracy was New York's clear lead back with 50 offensive snaps Sunday, while Singletary got 10 and rookie Cam Skattebo logged eight. Both Tracy and Skattebo gathered two catches in the passing game while Singletary didn't even get targeted, so among the trio, Singletary emerged with the least encouraging performance. The Giants' ground game -- and offense as a whole -- struggled in Week 1, though, so it may take another contest or two to get a good handle on how the workload in the backfield will end up being divvied.
Aug 16, 2025
Scores TD in exhibition
Singletary rushed two times for five yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
After Tyrone Tracy was stuffed on his goal-line carry from the one-yard line in the first quarter, Singletary came on for the next play and cashed in the short touchdown. Singletary turns 28 years old next month and averaged a career-low 3.9 yards per carry last season. He's competing for the likely RB3 role in New York behind Tracy and rookie Cam Skattebo (hamstring), though Skattebo has missed both preseason games and multiple practices this month.
Jul 22, 2025
Valued as veteran presence
Singletary is likely to remain on the Giants' roster despite Tyrone Tracy's role as the likely primary ball carrier and the addition of RB Cam Skattebo via the 2025 NFL Draft, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Tracy and Skattebo provide promise as a young and talented 1-2 punch, which could lead to Singletary taking on a reduced role in New York's offense. However, Stapleton notes that Singletary is likely a lock for the roster, both because his veteran presence is valued on and off the field and -- perhaps more importantly -- because the Giants wouldn't gain any cap savings if they were to release the veteran RB. After signing a three-year, $16.5 million contract with New York in March of 2024, Singletary ceded lead ball-carrying duties to Tracy over the course of last year and averaged just 3.9 YPC over 113 rushes across 15 contests, adding 21 receptions on 24 targets for 119 yards.
Jan 6, 2025
Unproductive in season finale
Singletary carried seven times for 22 yards and caught his only target for a five-yard loss in Sunday's 20-13 Week 18 loss against the Eagles. He concluded the campaign with 113 rushes for 437 yards and four touchdowns along with 21 receptions on 24 targets for 119 yards over 15 games.
ANALYSIS
As has been the case for the majority of the campaign, Singletary worked well behind rookie RB Tyrone Tracy, who logged a 60 percent offensive snap share to the veteran's 30 percent mark. Singletary was brought in during the offseason to potentially serve as a workhorse back after the departure of Saquon Barkley to Philadelphia, but Singletary didn't log double-digit carries in any game after Week 4 and tallied 30 or fewer total yards in six of his final seven contests. Instead, it was Tracy who took hold of the starting running back role for the Giants, and that figures to be the case again next season. Singletary has two years remaining on his three-year, $16.5 million deal, so he figures to be back with New York for the 2025 campaign as the No. 2 option in the team's backfield.
Dec 29, 2024
Tallies 30 total yards in Week 17
Singletary rushed five times for 21 yards and caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 45-33 victory over Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Singletary once again worked well behind rookie Tyrone Tracy, who out-touched the veteran back 22-6. Singletary was mostly bottled up on his five carries, with the exception being a 13-yard rush in the second quarter. The 27-year-old has logged 25 or fewer rushing yards in each of his past six contests, giving him a low ceiling heading into next weekend's season finale versus Philadelphia.
Dec 23, 2024
Gets just our carries in Week 16
Singletary rushed for times for 12 yards and didn't collect a passing target in Sunday's 34-7 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
The Giants went with a pass-heavy approach in the contest -- especially after falling behind in the second quarter -- and rushed only 13 times as a team while Drew Lock threw 39 passes. As a result, Tyrone Tracy's modest seven carries paced the squad, and Singletary finished with fewer than five totes for the third time in five games. Given the sorry state of New York's offense and Tracy's emergence as the team's lead back, Singletary's potential for fantasy relevance rests almost entirely on his chance of getting into the end zone, which he has done twice in that five-game span.
Dec 15, 2024
Scores fourth rushing TD in loss
Singletary rushed eight times for 25 yards and secured all three targets for 16 yards in the Giants' 35-14 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary tied his highest carry total since Week 4, the last game in which he was still considered the lead back before Tyrone Tracy usurped him for the role. Singletary logged only two fewer carries than his backfield mate Sunday, and his two-yard rushing touchdown late in the first half was his fourth of the campaign. The veteran back should retain a solid complementary role at minimum in a Week 16 road matchup against the vulnerable Falcons defense.
Dec 9, 2024
Tallies season-low two touches
Singletary carried twice for eight yards and didn't receive a passing target in Sunday's 14-11 Week 14 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Singletary opened the campaign as New York's starting running back, but he's since given way to rookie Tyrone Tracy in the backfield. Tracy carried 16 times Sunday and was targeted 10 times, while Singletary was barely heard from with his two rushes, which went for four yards apiece. Given his increasingly limited opportunities, Singletary would likely need Tracy to miss time in order to be a viable fantasy asset again, even in deeper leagues.
Nov 29, 2024
Gets seven rushes in Week 13
Singletary had seven carries for 23 yards and didn't haul in his only target during Thursday's 27-20 loss at Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Singletary started the game and earned the first two carries on the Giants' initial possession, perhaps due to Tyrone Tracy having lost fumbles in both of the previous two contests, but the former's last touch occurred late in the first half while the latter finished it out as the team's main RB en route to 11 touches for 65 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD. Singletary has remained a part of the offense since sitting out Weeks 5 and 6 due to a groin strain, but he's averaging just 6.2 touches for 25.8 total yards over the last six outings. He likely will continue to take a back seat to Tracy in New York's next game Sunday, Dec. 8 against the Saints.
Nov 25, 2024
Scores team's only TD in big loss
Singletary rushed twice for three yards and a touchdown while bringing in both of his targets for seven yards in Sunday's 30-7 Week 12 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
The entire Giants offense struggled Sunday in its first game this season under the guidance of quarterback Tommy DeVito, and game script led to just 20 total New York rushing attempts in the contest. Rookie Tyrone Tracy continued to receive the bulk of the backfield work with nine carries for an efficient 42 yards, but it was Singletary who recorded the team's only score on a one-yard plunge into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. That opportunity came with Tracy briefly benched due to losing his second fumble in as many games early in the third period, but he returned later in the quarter and finished out the contest, so Singletary will likely work in a backup role again Thursday when the Giants face Dallas in a Thanksgiving matchup between teams with a combined 6-16 record.
Nov 10, 2024
Works as backup again
Singletary rushed the ball eight times for 40 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Panthers. He added one reception on one target for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary remained the clear backup to Tyrone Tracy, though his eight carries were his highest mark since returning from a groin injury in Week 7. He was fairly effective with his opportunity, ripping off significant gains of nine and 14 yards. Tracy lost a key fumble in the loss but was otherwise impressive, so Singletary is likely to continue to serve in a limited role moving forward.
Nov 3, 2024
Gets seven carries to Tracy's 16
Singletary rushed seven times for 33 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Tyrone Tracy cleared concussion protocol Friday and reprised his role as the Giants' lead back, limiting Singletary to a change-of-pace role. New York's running game is well positioned for success in Week 10 against the generous Panthers defense in Germany, but Singletary will likely continue to cede the majority of carries to Tracy.
Oct 29, 2024
Minimal role again Monday
Singletary rushed twice for 11 yards and secured two of three targets for 12 yards in the Giants' 26-18 loss to the Steelers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
As his scant workload indicates, Singletary took a clear back seat to rookie Tyrone Tracy (head), who excelled with 145 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries despite exiting the game twice with injuries. Singletary saw only five carries in his Week 7 return from a groin injury after Tracy impressed during the former's two-game absence, and unless the head injury that forced Tracy's second and final exit from the game Monday lingers into Week 9, the minimal role for the veteran back should continue against the Commanders in Sunday's divisional battle.
Oct 20, 2024
Sees little action in return
Singletary carried the ball five times for 18 yards and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's 28-3 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
After missing the last two weeks due to a groin strain, Singletary saw little action in his return, but that was largely due to game script. Tyrone Tracy was only slightly busier out of the backfield, turning nine touches into 32 scrimmage yards. It's impossible to draw any conclusions on the New York backfield situation given the nature of Sunday's rout, but Singletary seems headed for a timeshare with Tracy given the rookie's success in his absence. However, both backs could struggle again in Week 8 against a stingy Steelers defense.
Oct 18, 2024
Cleared from injury report
Singletary (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll return from a two-game absence but makes for a risky fantasy play, after coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Tyrone Tracy has earned a larger role going forward. Daboll also said he wants to keep an eye on Singletary this Sunday, and the veteran RB never quite progressed to full practice participation, instead logging limited sessions Wednesday through Friday.
Oct 18, 2024
Will share work with Tracy
Coach Brian Daboll expects Singletary (groin) to return for Sunday's game against Philadelphia but said Tyrone Tracy will get significant playing time, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Daboll said Tracy "earned it" with his impressive performances in Singletary's absence the past two weeks. Daboll also suggested third-stringer Eric Gray will play some, noting that the Giants want to ease Singletary back into action. It remains to be seen if the team lists Singletary with a game designation on the final injury report.
Oct 17, 2024
Another limited practice
Singletary (groin) was limited at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary still is in search of an ever elusive first full practice since the Giants' Week 4 loss to the Cowboys on Sept. 26. He's missed two games in the meantime due to a groin issue, but he at least has been listed as limited on six consecutive injury reports. If Singletary remains sidelined Sunday against the Eagles, Tyrone Tracy will continue to lead New York's backfield.
Oct 16, 2024
Remains limited at practice
Singletary (groin) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Stretching back to Week 5 prep, Singletary now has been listed as limited on five consecutive injury reports, but he's been sidelined the last two games due to a groin issue, which has allowed rookie fifth-rounder Tyrone Tracy to burst onto the scene. Singletary will have two more opportunities to log a full session this week before the Giants potentially hand him a designation ahead of Sunday's contest against the Eagles.
Oct 12, 2024
Will not play Sunday
Singletary (groin) has been downgraded ahead of the Sunday night game against the Bengals and will not play in the contest.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Brian Daboll was noncommittal when asked about Singletary's status earlier in the week, which said all fantasy managers probably needed to know entering the primetime contest. As a result, rookie fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy is set to operate as the team's starting running back in a juicy matchup against a Bengals defense that has been pitiful all year long. A converted collegiate receiver, it's entirely possible Tracy could get more involved through the air after seeing only two targets in the Week 5 win.
Oct 11, 2024
Questionable for Sunday night
Singletary (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Brian Daboll said "we'll see" when reporters asked him about Singletary's Week 6 availability earlier Friday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. A game-time decision is possible, which would put a lot of fantasy managers in a tricky spot with the Giants playing on Sunday Night Football. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray came out of the gate splitting snaps and touches in Singletary's absences last week, with Tracy then dominating the workload after Gray lost a fumble near the goal line at the end of a lengthy opening drive. Tracy ended up taking 62 percent of snaps and 19 touches for 130 yards, making him a reasonable fantasy starter for Week 5 if Singletary is out again.
Oct 10, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Singletary (groin) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary now has cobbled together back-to-back capped sessions to kick off Week 6 prep, which is one more limited practice than he managed last week before he was deemed doubtful and eventually inactive this past Sunday at Seattle due to a groin injury. Friday's practice report ultimately will unveil whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's matchup with the Bengals.
Oct 9, 2024
Officially limited Wednesday
Singletary (groin) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A groin injury contained Singletary to one limited session (Friday) last week, resulting in a doubtful designation and eventual inactive status for this past Sunday's game at Seattle. Rookie fifth-rounder Tyrone Tracy paced the Giants backfield with a 62 percent snap share and 19 touches for 130 yards from scrimmage, while Eric Gray handled seven touches for 54 total yards on 36 percent of plays. Coach Brian Daboll told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com on Wednesday that Singletary is "trending in the right direction," but the sixth-year pro will have two more chances this week to get back to full participation before the team potentially clears him for Sunday's contest against the Bengals.
Oct 9, 2024
Slated to practice Wednesday
Head coach Brian Daboll said that Singletary (groin) will participate in practice Wednesday in some capacity, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The expectation is that Singletary will be listed as a limited participant, but the extent of his activity won't be known until the Giants publish their first Week 6 injury report later Wednesday. After missing New York's first two sessions of Week 5 prep, Singletary handled limited reps last Friday, then was inactive for the team's upset win over Seattle on Sunday. Rookie fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy impressed with 18 carries for 129 rushing yards versus the Seahawks, and he may have earned himself a larger role out of the backfield in Week 6 even if Singletary is healthy enough to return for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Oct 6, 2024
Inactive as expected Sunday
Singletary (groin) is inactive for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary entered the weekend listed as doubtful after only managing a limited Friday practice this past week, and his expected inactive status is now official. With Singletary unavailable, rookie fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy is expected to helm New York's ground attack versus a Seattle defense that's allowed just 82.0 rushing yards per contest in its two home games thus far. Meanwhile, Singletary will turn his attention to a potential return to action in a Week 6 home matchup against the Bengals next Sunday night.
Oct 4, 2024
Doubtful for Week 5
Singletary (groin) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at Seattle, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary returned to drills Friday after sitting out the first two practices of Week 5 prep due to a groin injury, but the activity seemingly won't be enough for him to suit up this weekend. His status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but his likely absence should mean Tyrone Tracy gets an extended run out of the Giants backfield. Aside from Tracy, Eric Gray is the other option on the active roster, while Dante Miller is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.
Oct 4, 2024
Returning to practice
Singletary (groin) will return to practice Friday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It gives him a shot to play this Sunday at Seattle. Singletary didn't have any apparent limitations in last Thursday's loss to Dallas, taking 69 percent of snaps on offense, but he's been held out of practice this week due to a groin injury. The Giants may try to get him more involved in the passing game if he ends up playing, as WR Malik Nabers (concussion) and his 38 percent target share have been ruled out for Week 5.
Oct 3, 2024
Sitting out another practice
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Singletary (groin) won't practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary has now opened Week 5 prep with consecutive absences from practice, though the running back told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com prior to Thursday's session that he believes he has a chance to play Sunday in Seattle. In order to make that a reality, however, Singletary will likely need to take the field in some fashion Friday for the Giants' final Week 5 practice. If Singletary is a limited participant in that session, he would still likely carry a questionable designation into Sunday.
Oct 2, 2024
Misses practice with groin injury
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that Singletary (groin) will not practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Singletary is missing practice due to a new injury, though Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the running back ran on Monday, and his groin issue isn't considered long term. Still, the starting running back now has just two more chances to get back on the practice field ahead of Sunday's road matchup in Seattle. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray will figure to lead New York's backfield if Singletary misses any time.
Sep 26, 2024
Stymied by Cowboys in loss
Singletary rushed 14 times for 24 yards and brought in his only target for 14 yards in the Giants' 20-15 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Singletary's 1.7 yards-per-carry average underscores the brick wall he ran into the majority of the night. The veteran back's yardage total was his lowest of the season by far, and they came on the heels of a two-game stretch where he accumulated 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries alongside a 5-43 receiving line. Singletary's first opportunity to bounce back from the season-worst performance comes in a Week 5 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Sep 22, 2024
Rushing TD in back-to-back games
Singletary rushed 16 times for 65 yards and a touchdown, caught all four of his targets for 43 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 21-15 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Singletary scored a first-quarter rushing touchdown for a second consecutive week, this time getting across the goal line from one yard out. He finished the first half with only three rushing yards on six carries, though, and Singletary lost his second fumble in as many games on his first carry after halftime. After being bottled up on the ground for most of the game, Singletary broke through for a 43-yard burst on the final play before the two-minute warning but unselfishly slid down at the 1-yard line, which allowed the Giants to kneel out the clock and clinch their first win of 2024. Singletary also finished third on the team in targets, catches and receiving yards behind wide receivers Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson, so the running back's contributing in all situations on offense heading into Thursday's home game against the Cowboys.

Nearly reaches century mark in loss
Singletary carried the ball 16 times for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. He also caught his only target for zero yards.
ANALYSIS
The veteran running back scored his first TD as a Giant late in the first quarter on a seven-yard run. Singletary has dominated the backfield touches for New York through the first two weeks of the year -- Tyrone Tracy was the only other RB to see the ball, taking one carry for two yards -- and while the team's offense as a whole hasn't been particularly effective so far, that volume does give him a solid fantasy floor. Singletary will look to put together another strong effort in Week 3 against the Browns.

Gets 14 touches in Week 1 loss
Singletary rushed 10 times for 37 yards and caught four of five targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Singletary worked as the lead back in his Giants debut, getting 14 touches while Eric Gray and Tyrone Tracy combined for just six. He's a noticeable downgrade in the backfield from Saquon Barkley, who accounted for 10 of New York's 25 offensive touchdowns last season and scored three in his Eagles debut Friday. Singletary's a near-lock for double-digit touches on a weekly basis, but getting into scoring range looks like it will be a slog for the Giants, who will face the Commanders in Week 2 after failing to get into the end zone in the season opener.

Finds paydirt in preseason loss
Singletary carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards and a touchdown and failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 28-10 preseason loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The Giants' first-team offense played the entire first half, but Singletary wasn't able to gain much yardage against a stout Texans front seven. The veteran back did manage to punch in a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter, however. He's set to begin the season as the Giants' top option in the backfield, and with rookie Tyrone Tracy (ankle) potentially on the shelf for Week 1, Singletary could wind up seeing more work as a receiver than anticipated early in the year. His experience in Brian Daboll's scheme -- Daboll was Singletary's offensive coordinator for three seasons in Buffalo -- should allow him to hit the ground running with his new team after he amassed 1,091 scrimmage yards over 17 regular-season games for Houston in 2023.
Aug 17, 2024
Likely to play Saturday
The Giants' healthy starters, a group that includes Singletary, are expected to play about a half in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It is possible Singletary plays less than a lot of the other starters given the demanding nature of his position, but he'll likely be out there in some capacity early in the game, if nothing else. He was held out of the preseason opener last Thursday against Detroit, giving Eric Gray, Tyrone Tracy (ankle) and Dante Miller (hamstring) an opportunity to shine on a strong night for the Giants' running game. Tracy and Miller appear in danger of missing the upcoming exhibition with Houston, potentially setting up Gray for significant work off the bench.
Aug 9, 2024
Observes backups in preseason win
Singletary didn't play in the Giants' first preseason game Thursday versus Detroit, and New York's running game produced 155 ground yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.
ANALYSIS
That Singletary didn't play in the team's initial preseason matchup further emphasizes what was already a given, which is that he'll take over the lead-back role for the Giants with Saquon Barkley now in Philadelphia. The extent to which Singletary serves as a workhorse, though, could depend on how effectively the team's other ball carriers perform. If Thursday was any indication, second-year back Eric Gray could earn a healthy workload, as he gained 52 yards and scored twice on just four carries while adding 46 receiving yards on four catches versus Detroit. Tyrone Tracy, who has been the early leader in training camp for the No. 2 role, did well too with 26 yards on five rushes, and Dante Miller -- who has opened eyes in camp -- added 63 ground yards on 12 carries along with seven receiving yards on two catches. Singletary's role as the No. 1 back is secure, but it isn't yet known how work will be distributed among the team's ball-carrier corps with Barkley out of the picture.
Mar 11, 2024
Joining New York's backfield
Singletary is slated to sign a three-year deal with the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Singletary's looming three-year pact with New York is a $16.5 million agreement, that could be worth up to $19.5 million. The 26-year-old, who carried 216 times for 898 yards and four TDs to go along with 30 catches for 193 yards in 17 regular season games with the Texans in 2023, steps into a situation where he'll be called upon to help fill in for the departure of Saquon Barkley. It's a role that should yield enough touches for Singletary -- who profiles as the team's lead back at this stage -- to merit fantasy lineup consideration in 2024.
Jan 20, 2024
Effective as pass catcher
Singletary rushed the ball nine times for 22 yards in Saturday's 34-10 loss to the Ravens. He added five receptions on six targets for 48 yards.
ANALYSIS
Game script and a tough matchup combined to mute Singletary's production on the ground. However, he finished third on the team in targets and was effective as a pass catcher, with two of his five receptions going for double-digit gains. With the performance, Singletary recorded at least three receptions in five of his final six games. He's set to hit free agency this offseason and helped his market by tallying 1,091 yards from scrimmage with four total touchdowns across 17 games with the Texans.
Jan 13, 2024
Tallies garbage-time score
Singletary rushed the ball 13 times for 66 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 45-14 win over the Browns. He added three receptions on three targets for four yards.
ANALYSIS
The Texans relied on C.J. Stroud for their scoring in the first half, as the rookie quarterback had three touchdowns. That, combined with a tough matchup against the Browns limited Singletary's production for much of the game, even though he out-touched Dameon Pierce 16-3. He managed to salvage his performance with a 19-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to tack on Houston's final score of the day. Singletary will continue to lead the team's backfield in the divisional round, though the offense is likely to run through Stroud once again.
Jan 6, 2024
Scores vital touchdown
Singletary rushed the ball 24 times for 63 yards in Saturday's 23-19 win over the Colts. He added one reception on one target for two yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was the only Texans' running back to record a carry in the game. He was highly inefficient with the opportunity, as he averaged only 2.6 yards per rush and his longest gain went for only seven yards. Nevertheless, he scored the game-winning touchdown with just over six minutes remaining on a three-yard scamper into the end zone. Singletary will enter the postseason as Houston's clear lead back and should get a heavy workload regardless of the team's wild-card round matchup.
Dec 31, 2023
Totals 86 yards
Singletary rushed the ball 16 times for 80 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans. He added three catches on three targets for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary's volume bounced back relative to his Week 16 performance, though he was once again affected by game script. He saw only half of the Texans' 14 rushing attempts in the final two quarters with the team in control of the game, which limited his final stat line. While Singletary will maintain a lead in touches over Dameon Pierce, he has now been held under 100 total yards in five of his last six games.
Dec 24, 2023
Limited workload in Week 16 loss
Singletary carried the ball nine times for 44 yards and caught all three of his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The running back was effective on the ground once again, with his longest gain going for 17 yards, but Singletary's workload dwindled as the game got away from the Texans. Since his breakout performance in Week 10, Singletary has amassed 689 scrimmage yards in seven games with three rushing TDs and a 4.8 yards per carry average. He should be more involved in Week 17 against the Titans.
Dec 17, 2023
Tallies 170 total yards
Singletary rushed the ball 26 times for 121 yards in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Titans. He added four receptions on five targets for 49 yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary dominated work out of the Texans backfield, as Dameon Pierce saw only one total touch. Singletary took advantage of the absence of Jeffery Simmons (knee) along the typically stout Tennessee defensive line, ripping off three runs for double-digit yards. His biggest gain of the day came on a 41-yard reception in overtime, which set up the game-winning field goal. Singletary now has over 100 yards from scrimmage in three of his last six games -- two of which came with Pierce sidelined -- and he has established himself as the clear lead back in the Houston backfield heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Browns.
Dec 10, 2023
Scores team's only points in loss
Singletary rushed 13 times for 65 yards and a touchdown while failing to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was the only member of Houston's offense with a modicum of success, as C.J. Stroud threw for only 91 yards before exiting in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion, while Dameon Pierce had just four carries for nine yards. After rushing for 64 yards in the first half, Singletary was fittingly the player that got the Texans on the board, scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown on the final play of the third quarter. Singletary seems to be nudging ahead of Pierce in Houston's backfield, but the entire offense would have a far less rosy outlook if Stroud fails to clear concussion protocol before the team's Week 15 game against the Titans.
Dec 3, 2023
Role slips in victory
Singletary rushed the ball eight times for 36 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Broncos. He added one reception on one target for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary entered Sunday having seen double-digit touches in six straight games. However, that streak ended as he fell behind Dameon Pierce in terms of workload Sunday, with Pierce drawing 15 touches to Singletary's nine. The Texans held a comfortable lead for much of this matchup, which led to a game script that fell more into Pierce's style. In games that Houston falls behind, Singletary may see his role increase again, but his volume appears to be unreliable for the time being.
Nov 26, 2023
Splits with Pierce in Week 12 loss
Singletary rushed six times for 18 yards while catching six of seven targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
After a three-week run as Houston's lead back, Singletary split carries with Dameon Pierce (ankle) in Pierce's first action since Week 8. Neither running back found much rushing success, as Pierce finished with just 14 yards on five rushing attempts. Singletary was far more involved as a pass catcher out of the backfield, setting season highs in targets, catches and receiving yards while Pierce had just one reception. With a Week 13 home game against Denver's generous run defense up next, both members of Houston's backfield timeshare will be looking to bounce back on the ground.
Nov 26, 2023
Rejoined in backfield by Pierce
Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik suggested earlier in the week that Singletary will likely "share the load" Sunday against the Jaguars with Dameon Pierce (ankle), who is active after missing Houston's last three games, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Pierce served as Houston's starting running back for the first seven games of the season but was one of the NFL's least-efficient runners, averaging a paltry 3.0 yards on 109 carries. While Pierce has been out the last three games with a high-ankle sprain, Singletary has given life to Houston's ground attack, taking 65 carries for 288 yards (4.4 average) and two touchdowns while adding five catches for 17 yards. Though Pierce isn't expected to face any restrictions Sunday after practicing fully Wednesday through Friday, he could have to settle for the No. 2 role out of the backfield or work in a timeshare with Singletary. Even if that's the case, Singletary will likely lose out on some touches and snaps with Pierce back in the fold, making Singletary less appealing of a fantasy play than he had been in the past three weeks.
Nov 19, 2023
Another 100-yard effort in win
Singletary rushed 22 times for 112 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for six yards in the Texans' 21-16 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary got the starting call once again with Dameon Pierce (ankle) still sidelined and once again delivered a highly efficient performance the likes of which his injured teammate hasn't come close to delivering this season. Singletary also added his second touchdown in as many weeks with an 11-yard run in the second quarter, rounding out his fantasy production nicely. Even if Pierce, who returned to a limited practice Friday, is able to suit up in a Week 12 matchup against the Jaguars, the pecking order in the backfield may have shifted in Singletary's favor for the time being.
Nov 17, 2023
Another start on tap
Singletary again will operate as the Texans' top running back Sunday against the Cardinals with Dameon Pierce (ankle) ruled out for that contest.
ANALYSIS
Singletary is slated for a third consecutive start with Pierce sidelined, and the former is coming off a career-best 150 rushing yards in this past Sunday's win at Cincinnati. Another 30-carry performance may not be needed this weekend versus Arizona, but he at least will be taking on a defense that has conceded the second-most touchdowns (14) to opposing running backs in 10 games this season.
Nov 12, 2023
Career-best effort in win
Singletary carried 30 times for a career-high 150 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 11 yards in the Texans' 30-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary filled in for Dameon Pierce (ankle) for the second straight game, and on this occasion, he was the only Texans running back to log a carry. Singletary consistently exploited running lanes throughout the afternoon, with his long gain going for a modest 22 yards. He also recorded his first touchdown in a Texans uniform on a six-yard run midway through the third quarter, the perfect punctuation mark on the career-best performance. Given how much Pierce has struggled for running room when he's been healthy, it's certainly conceivable the backfield develops into much more of a timeshare whenever the second-year back returns to action.
Nov 10, 2023
Expected to lead backfield
With Dameon Pierce (ankle) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Singletary is again expected to lead Houston's backfield.
ANALYSIS
Pierce will miss his second straight game. Against the Bucs in Week 9, Singletary played 75 percent of the offensive snaps but struggled to get anything going on the ground, finishing with 26 yards on 13 carries. He added two catches for zero yards. Mike Boone will fill in as Singletary's change of pace.
Nov 5, 2023
Tough sledding as lead back
Singletary rushed 13 times for 26 yards and netted no gain on two catches in the Texans' 39-37 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary paced the Texans in rushing yards while serving as the de facto lead back in the absence of Damien Pierce (ankle). Singletary found precious little running room against Tampa Bay's standout run defense, however, leading to minimal production relative to opportunity. The fifth-year pro could revert to a complementary role as early as a Week 10 road matchup against the Bengals.
Nov 3, 2023
Set for lead role with Pierce out
Singletary's expected to handle the bulk of the backfield workload Sunday against the Buccaneers, as Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out.
ANALYSIS
Singletary started the season as Pierce's backup but worked his way into a timeshare over the past two games, due in large part to Pierce's struggles. With Pierce sidelined, Singletary will get a chance to showcase his skills in a lead role, though he'll be doing so against a Tampa Bay defense that has allowed just one scrimmage touchdown to a running back all season. Mike Boone and Dare Ogunbowale will round out Houston's backfield depth chart.
Oct 29, 2023
Dozen touches in Sunday's loss
Singletary carried the ball 10 times for 30 yards and caught both his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Dameon Pierce and Singletary each saw 12 touches on the day, and neither was able to reach 50 scrimmage yards despite a matchup with a Carolina defense that came into the game ranked 31st in rushing yards per game allowed. The struggles of the Texans' running game will make Singletary little more than a deep-league bye replacement heading into a Week 9 clash with the Buccaneers.
Oct 15, 2023
Outplays Pierce in Week 6 win
Singletary rushed 12 times for 58 yards and caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Singletary didn't have a rushing attempt in Week 5 and came in with just 95 rushing yards on 27 carries in 2023, but he set season highs in both rushing attempts and yards while Dameon Pierce plodded for 34 yards on 13 carries. Pierce is averaging just 2.9 YPC to Singletary's 3.9 on the season, so while neither running back has found much success, Pierce's struggles have opened the door for Singletary to take on a larger role. After a Week 7 bye, Houston's Week 8 matchup with Carolina's leaky run defense will present an opportunity for both running backs to raise those subpar YPC averages.
Oct 9, 2023
Zero touches in loss
Singletary did not get a carry and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 21-19 loss to Atlanta in Week 5.
ANALYSIS
Singletary entered the game averaging eight touches per game, but the backup running back went largely unused in 17 snaps against the Falcons. Houston's ground game never got going, failing to reach 100 yards for the fourth time in five weeks, but that hadn't prevented offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik from giving Singletary more looks previously. There's only so many touches he'll get while Dameon Pierce is healthy, but Singletary could be part of the solution that fixes an offense tied for last in the league with 3.0 yards per carry.
Oct 1, 2023
Tosses TD in win over Pittsburgh
Singletary carried the ball seven times for 25 yards, caught his only target for 11 yards and completed his only pass attempt for a six-yard touchdown in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
With the Texans leading 16-6 early in the fourth quarter, Singletary took a pitch in the red zone from C.J. Stroud and tossed a TD to Dalton Schultz to put the game away. Singletary continues to take a back seat to Dameon Pierce in terms of workload, getting just eight touches to Pierce's 25, but his versatile usage offers some fantasy appeal in deep formats. Singletary will look to score a touchdown of his own in Week 5 against the Falcons.
Sep 24, 2023
Efficient on 11 touches in win
Singletary rushed nine times for 41 yards and brought in both targets for four yards in the Texans' 37-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary finished as the Texans' rushing leader on the afternoon while posting his best rushing yardage total over the first three games. The veteran back could potentially begin to encroach on Dameon Pierce's workload if the latter's efficiency doesn't improve, although in fairness, Sunday was the first time over the season's first three games that Singletary averaged over 4.0 yards per carry in his own right. The workload distribution between the two will be one to monitor as Houston welcomes in the Steelers in Week 4.
Sep 17, 2023
Quiet in loss
Singletary carried four times for 14 yards and caught his lone target for 10 yards in Sunday's 31-20 loss to the Colts in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Singletary's 24 combined yards is an improvement over Week 1, and the target was his first of the season. For a second straight week, the running game was bottled up, and the Texans needed to throw nearly twice as much as they ran the ball. Unfortunately for the running backs, all the passing hasn't resulted in may targets. The position group accounts for 11 targets of 91 pass attempts. Early on, quarterback C.J. Stroud is heavily favoring wideouts, which account for 60 targets.
Sep 10, 2023
Stymied on ground in loss
Singletary rushed seven times for 15 yards and wasn't targeted in the Texans' 25-9 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary played a clear complementary role behind lead back Dameon Pierce, as expected. He was also less efficient than his backfield mate, with Pierce gaining 38 yards on his 11 carries. Singletary surprisingly wasn't utilized in the passing game whatsoever, but after recording 145 receptions over his first four seasons in Buffalo, that isn't likely to be the case most weeks in his new digs. Singeltary's first chance to atone for a forgettable Texans debut comes in a Week 2 home matchup against the Colts.
Aug 28, 2023
Second back used Sunday
Singletary rushed seven times for 22 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's preseason finale against New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Dameon Pierce started and looked good in his final exhibition appearance, eventually giving way to Singletary and then Mike Boone (7-51-1) in the second half. The latter performed better Sunday -- albeit against backup defenders -- and figures to be involved more as a passer, while Singletary may be used more as a true backup replacement in the event Pierce struggles or gets injured. All three backs figure to see action in some form early on, but only Pierce should generate fantasy value as the lead back heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Ravens on Sept. 10.
Aug 10, 2023
Starts preseason opener
Singletary started and rushed five times for 14 yards in Thursday night's 20-9 win over the Patriots in the preseason opener.
ANALYSIS
Singletary worked with Houston's first team while second-year tailback Dameon Pierce was rested for the exhibition opener. Although Pierce profiles as the Texans' starter, Singletary represents an experienced alternative after topping 950 scrimmage yards each of his first four seasons in the league.
Mar 20, 2023
Joining Houston backfield
The Texans are slated to sign Singletary to one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Singletary's deal with Houston is worth up to $3.75 million. During the 2022 season with the Bills, Singletary carried 177 times for 819 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 38 catches for 280 yards and a receiving score on 52 targets. With the Texans, Singletary will team up with 2022 fourth-rounder Dameon Pierce (ankle) to give the team a solid 1-2 backfield punch this coming season. As long as Pierce can stay healthy, he figures to lead the way, but even in a complementary role Singletary should see enough volume out of Houston's backfield to yield fantasy utility in 2023.
Jan 22, 2023
Modest output Sunday
Singletary rushed six times for 25 yards and caught five of eight targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Bengals in the AFC divisional round.
ANALYSIS
Singletary trailed quarterback Josh Allen in both carries and rushing yards despite snowy conditions resulting in struggles in the passing game. Furthermore, Allen scored Buffalo's lone touchdown of the contest, sneaking in from one yard. Although he contributed with a handful of catches, it was another lukewarm performance from Singletary, who is now slated to become an unrestricted free agent after totaling 1,099 scrimmage yards and six scores on 215 touches this season.
Jan 15, 2023
Leads Bills in rushing
Singletary rushed 10 times for 48 yards in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Dolphins in the wild-card round.
ANALYSIS
Singletary garnered two fewer carries than rookie James Cook, who also had a 12-yard rushing touchdown during the first quarter. Despite Cook's involvement, though, Singletary still led Buffalo in yards on the ground. As the Bills now advance to the AFC divisional round, expect Singletary and Cook to continue to split snaps in the Bills' backfield.
Jan 8, 2023
Finishes with 1,099 scrimmage yards
Singletary rushed seven times for 29 yards, caught his only target for three yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 35-23 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Singletary split carries with James Cook, which could remain the case in the wild-card round against the Dolphins. The former didn't help his chances of an increased workload with a third-quarter fumble, which set the Patriots up with an instant red-zone opportunity in a tie game. Singletary wraps up his fourth NFL regular season with 819 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 177 attempts, as well as 38 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown on 52 targets.
Dec 24, 2022
Eclipses century mark in win
Singletary rushed 12 times for 106 yards and a touchdown and secured two of three targets for 19 yards in the Bills' 35-13 win over the Bears on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary recorded a critical 33-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter that gave the Bills a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The fourth-year pro was efficient on his other carries as well, gaining 73 efficient yards on his other 11 totes. Singletary has double-digit carries in six of his last seven games, but the 100-yard effort was his first since Week 17 against the Falcons a year ago. Singletary will next look to solve the talented Bengals defense in a Week 17 road showdown on Monday night, Jan. 2.
Dec 18, 2022
Totals 16 touches in win
Singletary rushed the ball 13 times for 42 yards in Saturday's 32-29 win over the Dolphins. He added three receptions on four targets for 28 yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary earned 16 touches as compared to James Cook's seven. He wasn't particularly impressive in his capacity as either a runner or receiver, though he did help set up a touchdown late in the first quarter with a 13-yard reception. Singletary's involvement as a pass catcher was particularly encouraging, as he entered Saturday's contest having failed to earn more than two targets in five consecutive games. Singletary now has at least 70 total yards three times in that same span.
Dec 11, 2022
Modest numbers in lead role
Singletary rushed eight times for 39 yards and caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was busier and more effective than James Cook, who turned four carries and one target into 15 scrimmage yards. Neither running back was much of a factor, as Buffalo won this one thanks to its defense with an assist from the dual-threat production of quarterback Josh Allen, who led the team on the ground with 47 yards and a touchdown. Singletary remains the team's top running back over Cook, but Allen is the Bills' premier rushing option heading into Week 15 against the Dolphins.
Dec 2, 2022
Solid but outpaced by Cook
Singletary rushed 13 times for 51 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in either of his two targets in the Bills' 24-10 win over the Patriots on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Singletary still enjoyed a solid night overall from a fantasy perspective thanks in large part to his one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, his fourth rushing score in the last three games. However, it's worth noting rookie backfield mate James Cook logged one additional carry and 13 more yards, and he also posted a 6-41 line through the air on six targets. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the division of labor shapes up on a Week 14 home divisional showdown against the Jets a week from this coming Sunday.
Nov 24, 2022
Productive Thanksgiving performance
Singletary carried the ball 14 times for 72 yards and caught his only target for eight yards in Thursday's 28-25 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
While Josh Allen wound up leading the Bills in rushing with 78 yards, Singletary was at least efficient with his touches. The running back has produced at least 80 combined yards in six of the last nine games, putting him on pace for a career high in yards from scrimmage heading into a tough Week 13 clash with the Patriots.
Nov 20, 2022
Busy, productive in Week 11 win
Singletary rushed 18 time for 86 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for 11 yards in the Bills' 31-23 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary tied backfield mate James Cook for the team lead in rushing yardage, logging season highs in both carries and yards in the process. The fourth-year back now also has his first consecutive games with double-digit totes, and he's found the end zone on three occasions over the last two games. Given the struggles of the Lions defense to stop the run at times this season, Singletary could potentially be heavily involved again in his return to Ford Field for a Thanksgiving afternoon showdown against Detroit.
Nov 13, 2022
Scores twice in Week 10
Singletary rushed 13 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns while catching one of two targets for no gain in Sunday's 33-30 overtime loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Singletary scored touchdowns of five yards and one yard in the first quarter. He scored seven times on the ground last season, but these were Singletary's first two rushing touchdowns of 2022. Buffalo relied on Singletary more down the stretch last season as the weather got colder, and the same pattern could be emerging again based on this performance in near-freezing temperatures. He'll look to build on this performance in Week 11 against the Browns.
Nov 6, 2022
Gets 12 touches in loss
Singletary rushed eight times for 24 yards and caught four of five targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary finished a distant second to Josh Allen (86 yards, two TDs) on the ground. Buffalo's offense revolves around Allen both through the air and on the ground, so Singletary's volume is contingent on the Bills playing from in front, which wasn't the case in Buffalo's second loss of the season. Rushing opportunities could remain limited in Week 10 against the 7-1 Vikings.
Nov 2, 2022
New speedster as teammate
Singletary will have a new backfield mate after the Bills traded for Nyheim Hines on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
While the Bills did give up running back Zack Moss in the deal, Moss was barely playing in recent weeks and Buffalo didn't trade for Hines to have him sit on the bench. That said, the Bills were said to be in the market for a big hitter like Christian McCaffrey or Alvin Kamara, so on some level Singletary's value as a No. 1 back in a big offense is at least maintained following the Hines deal. However, we can envision a setup where Hines is out there for the majority of third downs and other passing situations.

Gains 83 yards on 15 touches
Singletary rushed 14 times for 67 yards and caught one of two targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Singletary did his usual work in between the 20s to the tune of 4.8 yards per carry, but he was stood up at the goal line on an attempt to score from one yard out. It is a bit unusual how the lead back for one of the best offenses in the league has zero rushing touchdowns through seven games, yet here we are. The 24-year-old has still been a productive player with 506 combined yards from scrimmage to go along with one receiving touchdown. Singletary's fantasy managers are hoping the back can get over his allergy to rushing touchdowns against the Jets next Sunday.
Oct 16, 2022
Triple-digit scrimmage yards
Singletary carried the ball 17 times for 85 yards and caught four of five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
For the first time this season, Singletary reached the century mark in scrimmage yards, although he'd topped 90 yards in two of the prior three games. While his production is trending up, the running back has still only scored one touchdown through six games in an offense dominated by Josh Allen heading into the Bills' Week 7 bye.
Oct 9, 2022
Limited in big Week 5 win
Singletary rushed six times for 42 yards and brought in one of two targets for four yards in the Bills' 38-3 win over the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was certainly highly efficient with his rushing workload, but he had precious few opportunities to build on his success despite the Bills boasting a comfortable lead most of the game. The fourth-year back has only logged double-digit carries once this season, and Sunday, he gave way to rookie James Cook once the game was completely out of hand. Singletary and his fantasy managers will hope for more opportunity on his behalf in a Week 6 road showdown against the Chiefs.
Oct 2, 2022
Solid all-around showing in win
Singletary rushed 11 times for 49 yards and secured four of five targets for 47 yards in the Bills' 23-20 win over the Ravens on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Singletary finished with a strong fantasy performance overall despite the lack of touchdowns and a first-quarter lost fumble that led to a Ravens field goal. The versatile back was once again encouragingly involved in the passing game after racking up a season-high nine receptions in Week 3, and Sunday's effort on the ground marked his first time over 4.0 yards per carry since Week 1. Singletary's next opportunity to build on his early-season production comes in a Week 5 home matchup against the Steelers.
Sep 25, 2022
Stars as receiver in loss
Singletary rushed nine times for 13 yards and brought in nine of 11 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 21-19 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
As the lopsided stat line implies, Singletary was absolutely stymied on the ground but stellar through the air. The versatile back led the Bills' air attack in receptions and receiving yards while tying with Stefon Diggs in targets. Singletary's two-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter was his first score of any kind this season, and he's now collected 13 catches over his first three games. Singletary will aim to boost his rushing totals back up in a Week 4 road matchup versus the Ravens.
Sep 19, 2022
Limited impact in blowout win
Singletary rushed six times for 19 yards while catching two of four targets for two yards in Monday's 41-7 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was Buffalo's primary running back while the game was still competitive, but Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs dominated through the air during that time, leaving little left over for Singletary. Once the game got out of hand, Buffalo took the opportunity to get rookie second-round pick James Cook some reps. Singletary should be more involved in what should be a closer game against the Dolphins on the road in Week 3.
Sep 9, 2022
Paces backfield in Week 1 win
Singletary rushed eight times for 48 yards and secured both targets for 14 yards in the Bills' 31-10 win over the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Singletary's rushing yardage total was second only to that of Josh Allen's, and he also was efficient on his pair of opportunities in the passing game. The fourth-year pro only logged two more carries than backfield mate Zack Moss, but he was exponentially more efficient, considering the latter gained all of 15 yards. Meanwhile, rookie James Cook, who's expected to eventually be much more of a threat to Singletary's role, fumbled on his first and only touch of the contest. Therefore, Singletary appears to have no immediate threat of serious encroachment on his opportunities as the Bills prepare to next take the field in a Week 2 Monday night home clash against the Titans on Sept. 19.
Aug 20, 2022
Effective in preseason debut
Singletary ran for 39 yards on four carries in Buffalo's preseason game against Denver on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary started and played effectively with his four carries, though every other Buffalo running back also ran wild in the game. Backfield competition like James Cook (four carries for 38 yards, one 12-yard reception on one target) and Zack Moss (four carries for 19 yards and two touchdowns) were effective as well, and even fringe players like Duke Johnson (nine carries for 55 yards and two touchdowns) and Raheem Blackshear (five carries for 58 yards) got hot against Denver. The Buffalo backfield is a favorable one for whatever player is on the field, and Singletary should be its primary heir despite the presence of Cook and Moss.
Aug 13, 2022
Expected out for Saturday
Singletary is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This shouldn't be surprising as Singletary is locked in as one of the team's top running backs. Expect a bevy of backs, including James Cook, to get extended work with the majority of the Bills' projected starters healthy inactives.
May 1, 2022
Competition cooking
The Bills drafted James Cook out of Georgia in the second round of the NFL Draft, and the rookie will presumably compete with Singletary and Zack Moss for playing time in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Singletary ended the 2021 season on a tear, scoring nine touchdowns over the team's last six games (three regular season, three playoffs) while surpassing 80 rushing yards in four of them. However, the Bills have mostly run a committee system during coach Sean McDermott's tenure, and with Moss being a shaky option and Singletary being limited to one very nice hot streak in a three-year career, Cook will now fill out the room. While we imagine the No. 1 job in the committee is Singletary's to lose, the Bills didn't use a second-round pick on a benchwarmer. Expect the rookie to start chipping in on Singletary's workload right away, and Cook could even leapfrog Moss in short order for the No. 2 role.
Jan 24, 2022
Scores again in playoff loss
Singletary rushed 10 times for 26 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches for 25 yards on five targets in Sunday's 42-36 overtime loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
SIngletary capped Buffalo's opening drive with his ninth scrimmage touchdown in the last six games. After Singletary's one-yard rushing score, the game turned into a passing battle between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, with Mahomes coming out on top in thrilling fashion. Singletary grabbed a hold of the lead role in Buffalo's backfield down the stretch, and the 2019 third-round pick out of FAU will likely pick up where he left off as the team's top running back next season.
Jan 16, 2022
Pair of scores in wild-card win
Singletary rushed 16 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns and brought in three of four targets for 13 yards during the Bills' 47-17 win over the Patriots in an AFC wild-card matchup Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Josh Allen stole the show with 374 total yards and five scores in the blowout win, but Singletary capped off the other two of Buffalo's record-setting seven consecutive touchdown drives with a pair of visits to the end zone of his own. The third-year pro averaged an impressive 5.1 yards per carry, and his second scoring jaunt, a 16-yarder late in the second quarter, served as his longest run of the night. Singletary has proven to be an ideal complementary component to Allen's work through the air and has proven capable of handling a true lead-back workload with double-digit carries in five consecutive games going back to Week 15. The 24-year-old should play another key role in next weekend's divisional-round matchup against either the Chiefs or Bengals.
Jan 10, 2022
Scores two TDs in Sunday's win
Singletary carried the ball 19 times for 88 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 24 yards and a second TD in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The third-year running back continued his impressive finish to the regular season, scoring both his TDs in the fourth quarter as the Bills finally pulled away from the Jets and locked up their second straight AFC East title. Singletary racked up an impressive 485 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns (five rushing, one receiving) over the final five games of the regular season, giving him massive momentum heading into Saturday's wild-card round clash with the Patriots.
Jan 2, 2022
Ascent continues in win
Singletary rushed 23 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns and failed to bring in his only target in the Bills' 29-15 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary logged double-digit carries for the third straight game and continued to make for good use of the opportunity, churning out a season-high yardage total while logging his third and fourth rushing touchdowns of the last three games in the process. Singletary found the end zone from six and four yards out in the second half to bring Buffalo back from a surprising 15-14 halftime deficit, and his season-best performance certainly came at the timeliest of moments for fantasy managers. The vulnerable Jets run defense should serve as an appealing tune-up for the postseason for Singletary in Week 18.
Dec 26, 2021
Finds end zone in lead role
Singletary rushed 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-21 win over the Patriots. He added five catches for 39 yards on six targets.
ANALYSIS
Matt Breida was a healthy scratch, and Singletary worked as the lead back over Zack Moss (three carries for 12 yards) in Buffalo's backfield. Singletary restored Buffalo's two-possession lead in the fourth quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown, notably getting the call in close over Moss, who had been Buffalo's preferred short-yardage back earlier in the season. The 24-year-old running back has a modest four touchdowns this season, but Singletary has scored in consecutive games heading into a Week 17 visit from the Falcons.
Dec 19, 2021
Runs tough with big workload
Singletary ran for 86 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against Carolina on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Particularly with star quarterback Josh Allen managing a foot tweak, there was a lot of pressure for Singletary to step up against the Panthers and he answered the call. Allen sometimes struggled against Carolina's strong pass rush, but when the Buffalo passing game went cold Singletary often helped will the offense down the field and played a big role in Buffalo's ability to control the game despite their occasional struggles on offense. The Buffalo backfield rotation has been all over the place all year, but a showing like this in a must-win game might earn Singletary more leash as the Bills try to rally for a playoff push. Unfortunately for Singletary and the Bills offense, they head to New England to face the Patriots in Week 16.
Dec 19, 2021
Set to lead backfield again
Singletary's teammate Zack Moss will be a healthy inactive for the third time in four weeks Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary saw 83 percent of the offensive snaps and totaled 89 yards from scrimmage in the overtime loss to Tampa Bay last week with Moss out, even though he only had four rushing attempts. Expect Singletary to lead the Buffalo backfield once again, though the game script in Buffalo is all over the board from week to week. He could see more carries than usual -- certainly more than four -- with Moss out again and with running quarterback Josh Allen hobbled by a foot injury.
Dec 12, 2021
Garners 89 total yards in loss
Singletary rushed four times for 52 yards and secured six of seven targets for 37 yards in the Bills' 33-27 overtime loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Bills barely bothered to run the ball in conventional fashion against the Buccaneers' nearly impenetrable front, with Josh Allen easily serving as the team's most productive performer on the ground. However, Singletary was able to rip off a 29-yard run and was highly efficient with his three other carries as well, leading to his best rushing yardage total since Week 4. His reception total was also his second highest of the season, making it a productive fantasy day overall in a game where Buffalo focused heavily on the pass. Singletary should have a chance at a more robust workload on the ground in a Week 15 home matchup against the Panthers.
Dec 12, 2021
Sharing backfield with Breida
With teammate Zack Moss inactive Sunday, Singletary and Matt Breida are in line to head the Bills' backfield in Week 14 versus the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Given that Moss, who logged eight carries and three targets in the Bills' Week 13 loss to the Patriots, is out of the mix, both Singletary (10 carries versus New England) and Breida (one carry, one target) figure to see added touches Sunday, albeit while facing a rugged Tampa Bay run defense that has allowed an average of 84.3 yards per game on the ground to date.
Dec 7, 2021
Rushes 10 times
Singletary rushed 10 times for 36 yards in Monday night's 14-10 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Singletary led Buffalo's backfield in carries, but teammate Zack Moss returned to the lineup to match him in overall touches. Although Singletary managed three more scrimmage yards than Moss -- and both outperformed Matt Breida's eight yards on two touches -- none of the Bills' tailbacks were particularly effective amid predictable running conditions. While it was good to see Singletary lead the charge Monday, Buffalo's usual committee approach makes it hard to rely too much on him going into Week 14's matchup versus the Buccaneers.
Nov 26, 2021
Clear lead back Thursday
Singletary rushed 15 times for 44 yards and brought in his only target for four yards in the Bills' 31-6 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
With Zach Moss a healthy scratch, Singletary's only competition for carries among his fellow running backs came from Matt Breida. Singletary ultimately outpaced his teammate by six rushing touches during a contest in which game script turned favorably toward the run. The 15 carries were a season high for Singletary, who opened the season with double-digit rush attempts in his first four games before not hitting that mark again until Thursday. Whether the same backfield hierarchy applies in a Week 13 divisional battle against the Patriots on Monday night, Dec. 6 remains to seen.
Nov 25, 2021
Set to share backfield with Breida
With Zack Moss a healthy scratch for Thursday night's game against the Saints, Singletary and Matt Breida are in line to head the Bills' Week 12 backfield.
ANALYSIS
Singletary still has Breida to contend with for touches Thursday, but minus Moss, he could see some added Week 12 opportunities against a New Orleans defense that has allowed an average of 89.8 rushing yards per game to date. While neither back profiles as a high-percentage lineup option, Singletary is worthy of consideration by those in need of RB help this week due to injuries or byes.
Nov 21, 2021
Turns six touches into 43 yards
Singletary rushed three times for 17 yards and caught three of four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 41-15 loss to Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Singletary's 43 scrimmage yards landed him in between Matt Breida (67) and Zack Moss (five). Buffalo's backfield was already frustrating enough with just Moss and Singletary splitting carries, but it appears Breida has now forced a three-way timeshare. All three Bills running backs will likely remain involved when the team takes the field in New Orleans on Thanksgiving.
Nov 14, 2021
Scores TD but so do other Bills RBs
Singletary rushed seven times for 43 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for six yards in Sunday's 45-17 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary led the Bills in rushing yards, but his output was capped by sharing the load with Zack Moss (concussion) and Matt Breida. Moss also got seven carries and scored a touchdown, while Breida found paydirt on two of his six touches. All three members of Buffalo's backfield found success against a Jets defense that has been the most generous in the league to running backs, but the sledding will be tougher for Singletary and Co. in Week 11 against the Colts.
Nov 13, 2021
No monopoly on backfield
Singletary's teammate Zack Moss cleared the concussion protocols Saturday and is expected to suit up Sunday against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
While the duo still gets a juicy matchup against the Jets' 27th-ranked run defense, Singletary hasn't been able to do much in any game where he shares the load with his young teammate. Singletary hasn't passed 100 rushing yards in any game since Moss was drafted last season, and he has just one scrimmage TD in 2021. What was looking like a great free-agent fantasy pickup early in the week has fallen back to a mediocre-at-best option, with the real hope being that the Bills take control of the game and allow both backs to run wild.
Nov 11, 2021
Week 10 workload in flux
Singletary's teammate Zack Moss (concussion) returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Singletary has been a hot pickup all week due to the possibility that he could have the Buffalo backfield mostly to himself in Week 10 should Moss not get through all the protocols. The latter's status took an uptick with the limited session, however, as Moss still has time to clear the rest of the concussion protocols in time for Sunday's game. Singletary would be a good yardage play should Moss have to miss a game, though the former has not proven to be much of an option this season when sharing the backfield. Singletary does lead the Bills in rushing yards, but it's a modest total of 355 and he has just one trip to the end zone (one rushing, zero receiving) all season.
Nov 7, 2021
Makes seven catches
Singletary ran for 16 yards on six carries while catching seven passes for 43 yards on eight targets against Jacksonville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Bills offense just couldn't get it going despite the favorable on-paper matchup against Jacksonville, but Singletary was one of the offense's few sources of occasional production. He had to take a larger workload than usual after Zack Moss left with a concussion, so Moss' availability will be a crucial situation to monitor for Singletary's fantasy managers as they consider whether to start him against the Jets in Week 10. If Moss is out then it could prove a very favorable matchup for Singletary.
Nov 4, 2021
Remains No. 2 back Week 8
Singletary carried seven times for 28 yards and reeled in his lone target for a one-yard gain Sunday in the Bills' 26-11 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Though Singletary received the start and wasn't far behind Zack Moss (14) in terms of touches, the former trailed more significantly in snap share. Moss was on the field for 47 of the Bills' 73 offensive snaps (64 percent), while Singletary received 24 snaps (34 percent). Since being a surprise healthy scratch Week 1, Moss has now out-snapped Singletary in each of the Bills' last five games, a clear indication Buffalo views the former as its top option out of the backfield. Singletary should at least remain a factor in a change-of-pace role, and he could actually see an uptick in work this weekend in Jacksonville. The 5-2 Bills will enter the contest as one of Week 9's heaviest favorites against the 1-6 Jaguars, and if Buffalo races out to an early lead, the distribution of snaps and touches between Moss and Singletary may become more even.
Oct 19, 2021
Gets 10 touches
Singletary rushed five times for 27 yards and caught all five of his targets for 16 yards in Monday night's 34-31 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Singletary ripped off a 14-yard run on Buffalo's opening drive, but he wasn't featured much on the ground afterward, with both quarterback Josh Allen (nine carries) and fellow tailback Zack Moss (eight) rushing more often. Although Singletary actually still led the Bills in rushing yards and pitched in with a handful of catches, his overall production wasn't anything special. After rushing for at least 70 yards in three of his first four games this season, Singletary has now failed to top 30 yards in his latest three of four. That dip in production coincides with just 11 carries over his past two outings, leaving room for improvement as he now enters the Bills' bye week.
Oct 3, 2021
Bounces back against Texans
Singletary recorded 14 rushes for 79 yards in Sunday's Week 4 win over the Texans. He added one reception for seven yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary split carries exactly evenly with Zack Moss, and he also out-gained Moss by 18 yards. Though he managed only two runs of 10 or more yards, Singletary regularly picked up chunk gains to help the Buffalo offense stay on schedule. Singletary has now earned double-digit touches in every game, and both he and Moss seem to be settling into roughly a 15-touch role per game.
Sep 28, 2021
Takes backseat in Week 3
Singletary rushed 11 times for 26 yards and caught one of his two targets for zero yards during Sunday's 43-21 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Singletary had been off to a hot start, totaling 29 touches for 171 yards and one touchdown through the first two weeks of the season. The 23-year-old still saw his usual touch total, but he was outpaced by Zack Moss in Week 3. Moss totaled 16 touches for 91 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's win. Now, it isn't clear if this division of work was due to Moss having the hot hand, or if it was because of the large lead that Buffalo held. Either way, fantasy owners for both running backs will need to monitor their situations throughout the season.
Sep 19, 2021
Hot start continues
Singletary rushed 13 times for 82 yards and a touchdown to go with two catches for nine yards on three targets in Sunday's 35-0 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Singletary took Buffalo's second offensive play 46 yards to the house and led the team in rushing for the second consecutive week to open the season. He shared the backfield with Zack Moss, who scored two touchdowns in his return after being scratched last week. The Bills are making a concerted effort to get the running game more involved after relying heavily on the passing attack last season, and both Buffalo running backs are benefiting from that approach. Singletary will have flex appeal in Week 3 against Washington.
Sep 12, 2021
80 total yards in loss
Singletary rushed 11 times for 72 yards and brought in three of five targets for eight yards in the Bills' 23-16 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Zack Moss a surprise inactive, Singletary was theoretically in line for a heavy workload. While that ultimately didn't materialize, the third-year back did finish with an efficient rushing day overall that was highlighted by a late 25-yard run. Singletary's three receptions were a nice fantasy bonus despite the fact they didn't go for much yardage, and he'll look for even better production in a Week 2 road battle against the Dolphins.
Sep 12, 2021
In line to be No. 1 back
Singletary is in line to serve as the No. 1 back in Buffalo against the Steelers in Week 1, as presumed backup Zack Moss is listed as inactive for the contest.
ANALYSIS
Singletary has received nothing but praise throughout training camp, but most fantasy circles presumed some type of timeshare with Zack Moss would be in play for much of the 2021 campaign. With Moss a healthy scratch in Week 1, Matt Breida is now the presumed backup with Singletary potentially in line for a lion's share of the backfield work. He and the Bills will take on a Pittsburgh defense that ranked 11th against the run in the 2020 season.

Enters season in great shape
Coach Sean McDermott told Ashly Holder of WGRZ this week that Singletary looks great entering this season. "He's got burst to him this year, pass protection is on point and every time he touches the ball he makes something happen," said the coach.
ANALYSIS
It's not like McDermott is going to say bad things about his running back, but Singletary is coming off a strong preseason that followed a productive offseason, where teammates and the coaching staff have continually stated how strong and sharp he looks. He'll enter the season as the No. 1 running back in a high-powered offense, though it always comes with the caveat that it's hard to picture him getting into the end zone a ton considering that's a role more played by Josh Allen and Zack Moss in the running game, plus numerous targets in the red-zone passing game. Moss will also see the field a lot in normal packages, with the Bills using more of a "hot-hand" approach in recent times. In other words, Singletary needs to produce once the real action starts in order to keep his current high status.
Aug 28, 2021
Starts but gets no carries
Singletary started Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay and caught both of his targets for eight yards.
ANALYSIS
Singletary caught a pass for one-yard on the first snap of the game and appeared to get most of the playing time with the first-team offense, but he finished without any carries as the Bills unleashed QB Josh Allen for 26 pass attempts on three drives. Matt Breida and Zack Moss also got snaps while Allen was in the game, with the latter taking four carries for 10 yards and hauling in his lone target for a three-yard touchdown. Breida, meanwhile, finished with one carry for 16 yards and two catches for 10 yards, perhaps making his case for a small role behind Singletary/Moss. The muddled Buffalo backfield starts 2021 with a difficult matchup, hosting T.J. Watt and the Steelers.
Aug 21, 2021
Finds end zone again
Singletary carried the ball twice for 21 yards and a touchdown and added one reception for five yards in Saturday's preseason game against Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Singletary got all of his work on the team's first two drives and was particularly effective on the ground. He took his first carry for seven yards and then ripped of a 14-yard rush to the end zone to cap the team's first drive. Singletary has scored a touchdown in each the Bills' first two preseason games, which is notable given that he's scored only four touchdowns on the ground between his first two seasons in the league combined. Also notable was that Singletary clearly worked ahead of Zack Moss, though Moss may not yet be fully up to speed after undergoing ankle surgery in the offseason and battling a hamstring injury during training camp.
Aug 13, 2021
Effective as starter
Singletary rushed eight times for 42 yards and caught a six-yard touchdown on his only target in Friday's 16-15 preseason win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Singletary got the starting nod with Zack Moss (hamstring) sidelined, but the two are likely to work in a backfield platoon when both are healthy. He was undeterred after having a 15-yard gain erased by a holding call on Buffalo's first offensive play, racking up 21 yards on his next two carries. Third-stringer Matt Breida also mixed in during the second quarter after Singletary had the backfield to himself in first, but Singletary still provided the second quarter's biggest offensive play, hauling in a six-yard touchdown pass from Davis Webb. Singletary will likely see a similar workload in Week 2 of preseason against the Bears.
Aug 12, 2021
First on depth chart
Singletary is listed as first running back on the Bills' most recent depth chart.
ANALYSIS
It would have been a bit of a shock if Zack Moss (hamstring) was listed ahead of Singletary, given that the latter has more experience and is healthier. But this is a good reminder that Singletary has had some positive vibes this summer, while Moss continues to struggle on the health front. Of course, Singletary simply doesn't have the size or speed in hitting the hole to be much of a goal-line factor in any scenario, so the best fantasy hope for him is if he earns as large a share of the carries as possible while maintaining a role in the passing game.
Aug 2, 2021
In great shape
Singletary appears to be in excellent shape during the first few days of training camp after working on strength and speed throughout the offseason, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Said coach Sean McDermott, "I'm seeing a young man now that has taken the offseason and attacked it head on. He's in a great spot physically, it looks like at this point. I'm anxious to see him out here but what I saw towards the tail end of the spring, I was impressed with the areas that he was trying to be inten
ANALYSIS
The third-year back has had his ups and downs during his first two seasons, and if there's one knock on Singletary it's that he's lacked an extra burst once breaking through the line of scrimmage. It appears he's committed to changing that, though it's also worth noting that his competition for carries, Zack Moss, seems to be quickly moving his offseason ankle surgery. We'll add a final reminder that quarterback Josh Allen has a nose for scoring rushing touchdowns, with 25 of them in his three NFL seasons compared to Singletary's four in his two years. Singletary can be considered the No. 1 right now and it seems like he's well ahead of Moss in terms of game shape, but there's plenty more to come that will shape what the backfield distribution looks like come Week 1.
Jul 10, 2021
Role could change weekly
Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has stated that he'll go with the hot hand when assigning playing time between Singletary and Zack Moss, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. "Whoever's back there is playing good," Daboll said. "Sometimes that happens. Let's say you're in a game and you just get a sense one guy's got it going a little bit more than the other guy and that's the guy you ride with a little bit.
ANALYSIS
Singletary is reportedly in fantastic shape following an offseason of hard work, while Moss is coming off offseason ankle surgery but expects to be close to 100 percent for training camp. It's anyone's guess as to whether Singletary or Moss will provide the better value in 2021. Moss is a much bigger back than his teammate and has the ability to earn more between-the-tackle and goal-line runs, while Singletary has more experience, isn't coming off an injury, and has apparently used the offseason to get himself into great shape while Moss has been busy rehabbing.

Gains speed this offseason?
Singletary says he's gained a bit of extra speed this offseason after working with a personal training in South Florida, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Said trainer Nick Hicks: "We didn't sit there and try to make him into 100 meter sprinter. We just tried to make him, I guess two tenths, three tenths faster than what he what he what he was coming back in. We literally left no stone unturned this offseason, so yes he's going to be way faster, way more explosive than the Devin Singletary yo
ANALYSIS
Singletary, while shifty and excellent in small spaces, has really lacked breakaway speed as an NFL running back (he ran a 4.66 at the combine a few years ago), so even if the story is a bit overblown this can only be a good thing for the third-year running back. The Florida Atlantic product will be competing in camp with Zack Moss and newcomer Matt Breida for carriers, though between perhaps the hint of extra speed to go with the fact that Moss still isn't able to practice following ankle surgery, the offseason news seems favorable toward Singletary's quest to gain as large a share as possible. That said, he's not much of a touchdown threat with just four rushing TDs over his first two seasons, plus quarterback Josh Allen frequently takes away scores from the entire running back crew.

Competition remains as-is
The Bills did not select a running back with any of their eight selections in the 2021 NFL Draft to compete with Singletary and others for playing time.
ANALYSIS
Buffalo, picking near the end of the first round, never had a chance at Najee Harris or Travis Etienne, nor are we sure the team would have even went with a running back had it had the chance. As it stands, Singletary is still at the top of the depth chart, but none of the options has the look of a feature back at this stage of their careers, and he'll compete with Zack Moss and newcomer Matt Breida -- plus anyone else the team might bring in -- to try to garner his share of the playing time in what's expected to be a high-powered offense once again.

Limited impact as lead back
Singletary carried six times for 17 yards and caught two of three targets for nine yards Sunday in the Bills' 38-24 loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Singletary received the opportunity to work as the Bills' lead man out of the backfield for the team's final two playoff games while Zack Moss (ankle) was sidelined, but the Florida Atlantic product was mainly an afterthought in Buffalo's pass-happy offense. He logged just 13 carries between the Bills' divisional-round win over the Ravens and the loss to Kansas City, mustering only 42 yards. Assuming he experiences no complications in his recovery from offseason ankle surgery, Moss should open 2021 as Option 1A on the ground, relegating Singletary to more of a change-of-pace role.
Jan 17, 2021
Logs 10 touches in divisional round
Singletary registered 25 yards on seven carries, securing all three of his targets for 12 receiving yards during Saturday's 17-3 divisional-round win against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Singletary entered the playoff bout with just six combined carries for 28 yards over his two preceding outings. However, he was expected to experience an uptick in offensive usage with backfield mate Zack Moss (ankle) moved to IR on Tuesday. That didn't turn out to be the case, necessarily. After seeing Baltimore contain NFL rushing champion, Derrick Henry, to 40 yards over 18 carries during the wild-card round, Buffalo elected to open up the game with passes on 19 of the team's first 20 plays from scrimmage. Buffalo ultimately threw 37 times compared to 16 total rush attempts, but the team may choose to deploy a slightly more run-heavy game script if tasked with an AFC Championship Game matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the explosive Chiefs offense. A showdown with the Browns would offer a challenge, with the NFL's ninth-ranked rush defense coming to town.

Ticketed for more work
With Zack Moss (ankle) expected to miss the rest of the playoffs, Singletary is set for the lead role in Buffalo's backfield, USA Today's Bradley Gelber reports.
ANALYSIS
Moss and Singletary worked in a 50/50 split for most of the season, apart from Weeks 3-5 when the rookie was out with a toe injury. Singletary handled 89, 89 and 63 percent of offensive snaps in those three games, averaging 14.0 carries for 50.7 yards and 0.33 TDs, plus 3.3 catches for 26.3 yards on 4.0 targets. The Bills could turn to Singletary in an every-down role again, but the might also let T.J. Yeldon and/or Taiwan Jones handle some snaps this Saturday against the Ravens.
Jan 9, 2021
Six touches in playoff win
Singletary rushed three times for 21 yards and caught all three of his targets for 23 yards in Saturday's 27-24 wild-card round win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Singletary played second fiddle to Zack Moss (seven carries, four catches) for most of the game but took over as the lead back after Moss was carted off with an ankle injury early in the fourth quarter. The running back position is an afterthought in a Bills offense that relies mostly on quarterback Josh Allen in all situations, as evidenced by Allen's 35 pass attempts and team-high 11 rushing attempts. That said, Singletary should see an uptick in workload in the AFC divisional round next week if Moss is unavailable.
Jan 5, 2021
Limited Week 17 action
Singletary carried the ball three times for just seven yards in Sunday's win over Miami and caught his only target for six yards.
ANALYSIS
The Bills rested most of their starters for the second half of the regular-season finale, so Singletary should be fresh when the Bills meet the Colts to open up the playoff slate Saturday. Even though he was healthy just about the entire season, it was a terrible campaign by fantasy standards for the second-year back out of Florida Atlantic. Singletary played every game and still didn't hit 1,000 yards from scrimmage, often ceding important work to rookie Zack Moss. Singletary finished 32nd among running backs in half-point PPR formats, far below his draft-day value and behind the likes of free-agent pickups such as Nyheim Hines, Chase Edmonds and Jeff Wilson.
Dec 28, 2020
Tops 50 scrimmage yards
Singletary rushed 10 times for 36 yards and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Monday night's 38-9 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Singletary had a couple gains of 10-plus yards, but otherwise was held in check. In comparison, running mate Zack Moss rushed 10 times for 57 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for no yards. Given Buffalo's backfield rotation, Singletary's weekly upside remains capped to a degree, but with double-digit touches in now four of his last five games, Singletary's usage is enough to warrant good value ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Dolphins.
Dec 19, 2020
Breaks off 51-yard TD run
Singletary ran for 68 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, corralling all three of his targets for 16 yards during Saturday's 48-19 win against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Singletary led the Bills' running back committee with 39 snaps, but Zack Moss paced the team in both carries (13) and rushing yardage (81) during a dominant road win. A 51-yard TD run with 1:40 remaining in regulation salvaged a solid fantasy day from Singletary, simultaneously providing the back with his first rushing score since Week 4. He's been held to single-digit carries in consecutive outings, but an explosive late-game contribution may lend itself to Singletary getting additional work on the ground Week 16 against the Patriots' No. 23 rush defense.
Dec 14, 2020
Quiet in SNF win
Singletary rushed seven times for 32 yards and caught his lone target for two more yards in Sunday's 26-15 win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Singletary saw his share of carries nearly halved in favor of Zack Moss, despite the former averaging 4.6 yards per carry compared to the latter's sub-par mark of 3.3 yards per carry. Perhaps it was based on the matchup, but the role reversal did not jeopardize the outcome for the Bills, only the outcome for those who were relying on Singletary to contribute his usual 12-15 touches. While Moss ended up with the larger workload Sunday night, it is clear that this is a two-back system being run in Buffalo, limiting both player's value while also keeping them relevant enough for deeper formats heading into a matchup with Denver on Saturday.
Dec 8, 2020
Heavy workload in win
Singletary rushed 18 times for 61 yards and secured three of four targets for 22 yards in the Bills' 34-24 win over the 49ers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Zack Moss was part of a fumbled exchange with Josh Allen at the Bills' three-yard line early in the first quarter, a miscue that led to the 49ers' first touchdown of the night. Singletary essentially became the exclusive back for the duration of the contest from that point forward, tying his highest number of carries on the season. The second-year back also logged three receptions for the second straight game and third time in the last four contests overall, a supplementary role that rounds out his fantasy value nicely in games where he also sees an appreciable workload on the ground. Singletary now has consecutive games with double-digit rush attempts for the first time since Weeks 5-6, and he'll look to extend that streak against the stingy run defense of the Steelers during a Week 14 Sunday night battle.
Nov 29, 2020
Tops 100 scrimmage yards in win
Singletary rushed 11 times for 82 yards and caught all three of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Chargers. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Both Singletary and Zack Moss (nine carries for 59 yards) were effective on the ground, but quarterback Josh Allen scored Buffalo's lone rushing touchdown. With both Allen and Moss cutting into his production, Singletary has mustered just one touchdown heading into a Week 13 date with the 49ers. On the bright side, Singletary topped 100 scrimmage yards for just the second time all season.
Nov 15, 2020
Poor effort in loss
Singletary gained 15 yards on four carries and caught only one of five targets for minus-5 yards in Sunday's 32-30 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Bad as Singletary's performance was, Zack Moss was just as ineffective, netting 17 yards on eight touches, and Josh Allen wound up leading the Bills in rushing yards. With the team headed into its bye week, Sean McDermott and the coaching staff will get some extra time to figure out how to spark a backfield that has only seen a running back top 50 rushing yards once in the last five games.
Nov 8, 2020
Receives five touches vs. Seahawks
Singletary carried two times for one yard and caught all three of his targets for an additional 33 yards during Sunday's 44-34 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Singletary received his lowest total of carries on the season as Zach Moss and Josh Allen did most of the work on the ground. He topped 30 receiving yards for just the second time this season but that wasn't enough to propel him to useful fantasy production. This was concerning for Singletary's fantasy outlook considering he carried the ball 14 times last week and his team played from ahead for most of this one, as it now seems like his role from week to week will be difficult to predict. As such, it is difficult to recommend inserting him into fantasy lineups for next Sunday's matchup with the Cardinals.
Nov 1, 2020
Near-even workload split with Moss
Singletary rushed 14 times for 86 yards and caught his only target for another six in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was heavily involved from the get-go with blustering winds creating run-friendly conditions. Buffalo's first four offensive plays were hand-offs to Singletary, and the fifth was a pass to the second-year running back. Singletary mustered only 18 yards on those five plays, however, and the pendulum swung Zack Moss' way from there. Moss capped the opening drive with a touchdown and added another score in the third quarter, though Singletary had one more touch and six more scrimmage yards than the rookie. Singletary has scored just one touchdown in eight games compared to Moss' three in five appearances, but they should maintain close to an even split in Week 9 against the Seahawks.
Oct 25, 2020
Under 50 yards against Jets
Singletary rushed eight times for 29 yards and caught two of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 18-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary had eight carries and five targets to Zack Moss' seven carries and three targets, but the latter finished with a 72-47 edge in scrimmage yards. Considering both running backs already cede a large chunk of Buffalo's rushing workload to quarterback Josh Allen -- who led the team with 11 carries for 61 yards in this one -- Singletary can ill afford to be outplayed by Moss. The second-year back out of FAU will look to bounce back in Week 8 against the Patriots.
Oct 19, 2020
Held in check by Chiefs
Singletary rushed 10 times for 32 yards and caught one of his two targets for 13 yards in Monday's 26-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Singletary couldn't get much going despite rainy conditions favoring a ground-based approach. In the end, Buffalo attempted a season-low amount of passes, yet quarterback Josh Allen outgained Singletary with 42 yards on his eight rushes. Furthermore, rookie Zack Moss returned from injury to carry five times, but with just 10 yards, he didn't do anything to overtake Singletary. While it'll be interesting to see how those two tailbacks split the snaps and touches going forward, Singletary could use a rebound effort after averaging just 2.7 yards per carry while totaling only 78 yards from scrimmage in Buffalo's last two games. Fortunately, a Week 7 matchup versus the woeful Jets could prove to be just what the doctor ordered for both Singletary and the Bills.
Oct 13, 2020
Season-low rushing total in loss
Singletary rushed 11 times for 25 yards and caught his lone target for eight yards in Tuesday's 42-16 loss to Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was held to a season-low yardage total on the ground, despite serving as the lead back with Zack Moss (toe) inactive for a third consecutive game. Veteran backup T.J. Yeldon ended up outplaying Singletary, with 52 rushing yards on seven carries and a receiving touchdown. The Bills' next opponent is a Chiefs team that has been vulnerable on the ground, but Singletary will face competition for carries, especially if Moss is able to return.
Oct 5, 2020
Scores TD vs. Raiders
Singletary carried 18 times for 55 yards and a touchdown while catching five of six targets for another 21 yards during Sunday's 30-23 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Singletary managed just 3.1 yards per carry and received a season-high 18 totes with rookie Zach Moss out of action. He totaled just 76 yards on 23 total touches but salvaged his day from a fantasy perspective with a two-yard touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter. Singletary seems to have earned a starring role in the Buffalo backfield for the time being, but the team would surely like to see him do more with his looks next Sunday against the Titans.
Oct 4, 2020
Teammate sidelined
Singletary's teammate Zack Moss is inactive for Sunday's game in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
While T.J. Yeldon will suit up, Moss not being out there leaves Singletary as the bell-cow back for another game. While Singletary didn't score last week -- in fact, no Bills running back has rushed for a touchdown since Week 9 of last season -- he did post 121 yards from scrimmage. Expect the second-year man to be plenty involve in both sides of the offense today.
Sep 27, 2020
Tops 100 scrimmage yards
Singletary rushed 13 times for 71 yards and caught four of five targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 35-32 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Singletary carried the rushing load with Zack Moss (toe) out, as T.J. Yeldon (three carries for 18 yards) was the only other running back to touch the ball for the Bills. He failed to get into the end zone on a direct snap from the 1-yard line in the first quarter and ended up watching quarterback Josh Allen account for five touchdowns from inside the five-yard line, but Singletary's 121 scrimmage yards were eight shy of his combined total from Weeks 1 and 2. While his lack of usage in the red zone puts a cap on Singleatary's value, he should be a reliable source of yardage against the Raiders in Week 4.
Sep 25, 2020
Should see more work in Week 3
With Zack Moss (toe) out this week, Singletary should see added carries Sunday against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Through the Bills' first two games, Singletary logged 19 rushing attempts for 86 yards, while adding seven catches on 10 targets for 43 yards. In that span, Moss carried 17 times for 48 yards and caught three of his four targets for 16 yards and a TD. With Moss unavailable this weekend, Singletary should see the bulk of Buffalo's backfield work versus Los Angeles, with T.J. Yeldon a candidate to be active for the first time this season and see some change-of-pace action. Though the Rams are 2-0, they've allowed 257 rushing yards to date, resulting in solid fantasy results for Ezekiel Elliott in Week 1 and Miles Sanders in Week 2.
Sep 20, 2020
Paces backfield in Week 2 win
Singletary rushed 10 times for 56 yards and brought in two of three targets for 20 yards in the Bills' 31-28 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
While the Bills backfield situation continues to be a fantasy quagmire, Singletary at least slightly outpaced rookie Zack Moss in rushes during Sunday's contest and also saw two receiving touches to his teammate's none. Singletary also was the more efficient back with 5.6 yards per carry, although Moss' 4.6 figure wasn't disappointing by any stretch. The good news for both backs is that it appears it's them or bust when it comes to Buffalo's ground game, but whether Singletary can do enough to separate from his first-year competitor on a week-to-week basis remains to be seen. Singletary will look to build on Sunday's serviceable numbers against the Rams in a Week 3 home matchup.
Sep 13, 2020
Quiet in Week 1 win
Singletary rushed nine times for 30 yards and added five catches for 23 yards on seven targets in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Singletary was bottled up by the Jets, but so was Zack Moss (nine carries for 11 yards). Moss made up for his lack of rushing production with a four-yard receiving touchdown, while quarterback Josh Allen scored the team's lone rushing touchdown and led in both carries (14) and rushing yards (57). Singletary still has time to carve out a larger role in the crowded Buffalo backfield, but he'll need a better performance in Week 2 against the Dolphins.
Aug 28, 2020
Fumbling in practice
Singletary has fumbled twice through seven padded practices, Matthew Fairburn and Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
We shouldn't jump to conclusions based on a small sample from practice, but this is at least worth making a note of once Singletary's recent history -- four fumbles last year -- is taken into account. On the other hand, he fumbled only five times on 765 touches at Florida Atlantic, with none of those coming in his final season. Even so, any struggles could encourage the Bills to give more work to third-round rookie Zack Moss, who has yet to fumble in practice and seems to be making a strong impression on the Buffalo beat reporters. It appears both Singletary and Moss could enter Week 1 against the Jets with significant roles.
Aug 20, 2020
Doesn't show out Thursday
Singletary had a tough practice Thursday, getting bottled up on runs between the tackles and even fumbling one time, Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, rookie third-round pick Zack Moss thoroughly impressed with his vision reading blocks and finishing explosive runs with his physicality. Moss has two inches and 20 pounds on the 5-foot-7, 203-pound Singletary, which could inhibit the latter from getting some early down work in 2020. In particular, though, Singletary's ball-control issues reared their head again. Last season, he was tied for second in the NFL with four fumbles, averaging one every 45 touches. With Moss swapping in for Frank Gore in the Bills backfield, Singletary may have a difficult path to average 15 touches per game, as he did as a 2019 third-rounder last season.
Apr 25, 2020
New competition selected
Singletary could be in for some competition for carries in 2020 after the Bills selected Utah's Zack Moss in the third round Friday.
ANALYSIS
For Singletary's sake, we suppose that's better than the team bringing in a top free agent such as Todd Gurley, but Moss was a top-five running back prospect rankings and he'll pose a serious threat for carries if he gets his career off to a good start. That said, Singletary did nothing but shine after passing Frank Gore on the depth chart last season, and with perhaps a shortened summer for Moss to get up to speed with his new team, Singletary should still head into the season as the No. 1 back. Moss, however, has enough of a pedigree to make this a 1A-1B setup like so many other teams in the league operate under.
Oct 18, 2019
Ready to roll
Singletary (hamstring) practiced fully Friday for the third straight day and does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
It looks like Buffalo's exciting rookie will be back for Week 7 following three absences and a bye week. Singletary has shown an early ability to rip off long gainers, though Frank Gore has been surprisingly excellent at 36 years of age, leaving Singletary in line for single-digit carries in his return to action. We'll see how much of the third-down role he re-takes from veteran T.J. Yeldon.
Sep 16, 2019
Still awaiting injury feedback
Coach Sean McDermott said Monday the team is still gathering information regarding Singletary's hamstring injury and that the running back is day-to-day for now, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
At least it's not the "he's out for several months" news we're seeing throughout the league on a dark Monday. Singletary has made the most out of limited opportunities behind Frank Gore, carrying 10 times for 127 yards and his first NFL touchdown run Sunday, as well as a 5-28-0 line on six targets in the passing game. His arrow is trending upward if the hamstring injury isn't significant, something we'll likely know more about when the Bills resume practicing Wednesday.
Sep 15, 2019
Suffers hamstring injury
Singletary was forced out of Sunday's game against the Giants with a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Singletary had logged six carries for 57 yards and a TD, while working behind veteran back Frank Gore.
