Eclipses century mark in OT win
Achane rushed 21 times for 120 yards and brought in all five targets for 45 yards in the Dolphins 16-13 overtime victory over the Commanders in Madrid on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane put together a signature two-way performance, repeatedly picking up meaningful yardage on the ground while recording a game-long run of a relatively modest 23 yards. The speedy third-year pro did get evaluated for a possible back injury in the fourth quarter, but he was able to return to the game and handled all three carries on the Dolphins' game-winning drive to set up Riley Patterson's 29-yard field goal. Achane now has back-to-back 100-yard efforts on the ground for the first time this season, and he's recorded at least five catches in four consecutive contests heading into a Week 13 home matchup against the Saints on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Nov 9, 2025
Standout performance in upset win
Achane rushed 22 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns and brought in all six targets for 51 yards in the Dolphins' 30-13 win over the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane was a central figure in the Dolphins' jaw-dropping upset victory, spearheading the offense with 59- and 35-yard touchdown runs on his way to a season-high tally on the ground. The versatile third-year back also notched a second straight six-catch effort, and he's recorded at least 67 rushing yards in five consecutive contests after a season-low 16-yard effort versus the Panthers in Week 5. Achane remains a must-start option in all formats heading into the Week 11 matchup against the Commanders in Madrid next Sunday.
Oct 30, 2025
Over 100 total yards in loss
Achane rushed 14 times for 67 yards and secured six of 10 targets for 39 yards in the Dolphins' 28-6 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Achane gained exactly 67 rushing yards for the second straight game, although he was more efficient Thursday with an average of 4.8 yards per carry than he had against the Falcons on Sunday (3.7 yards per carry). Achane was also once again heavily involved as a pass catcher, tying his third highest reception total of the campaign. The versatile back continues to boast a safe floor irrespective of the inconsistencies of the Dolphins' offense, and he'll be teed up for a favorable matchup in a Week 10 home matchup against the Bills on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Oct 26, 2025
Records receiving TD in win
Achane rushed 18 times for 67 yards and brought in five of seven targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 34-10 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane crossed the goal with a three-yard touchdown reception late in the first quarter to cap off a marathon 13-play drive that absorbed over eight minutes of clock. The speedy running back was generally contained on the ground while recording a long run of just 12 yards, and he also saw rookie backfield mate Ollie Gordon log a career-high 10 carries. Nevertheless, Achane's workload on the ground qualified as his second highest of the season, and he now has at least Sunday's yardage tally in three straight games, his best stretch of the season. Achane and the Dolphins will aim to carry over the momentum from their unexpectedly successful performance into a Week 9 home matchup against the Ravens on Thursday night.
Oct 19, 2025
Only bright spot in ugly loss
Achane rushed 13 times for 82 yards and brought in three of five targets for 16 yards in the Dolphins' 31-6 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins' point total and the fact Tua Tagovailoa managed only 100 passing yards while throwing three interceptions essentially tells the tale of the type of day it was for Miami's offense as a whole. Therefore, Achane's solid numbers served as the one bright spot for Mike McDaniel's squad, and the speedy running back gained well more than half his total on a 46-yard run late in the first quarter. Achane has rattled off 210 rushing yards and a pair of Week 6 rushing touchdowns on 29 carries over his last two games, but the Dolphins' reeling offensive unit faces an unenviable Week 8 road matchup against the Falcons next Sunday afternoon.
Oct 12, 2025
Breaks out as runner in loss
Achane rushed 16 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns while bringing in four of six targets for 22 yards in the Dolphins' 29-27 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane had been uncharacteristically bottled up by the Panthers in Week 5, but the electric back set an early tone Sunday with a 49-yard breakaway touchdown run with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Achane would go on to add a four-yard scoring scamper with just under eight minutes left in the contest, a score narrowed a 26-13 deficit. Achane eclipsed the century mark for the first time this season with Sunday's production, and his carry total was his second highest through the first six contests. The third-year back should play a key role again during a Week 7 road clash against the tough Cleveland Browns defense.
Oct 5, 2025
Records receiving TD in loss
Achane rushed 10 times for 16 yards and brought in six of seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 27-24 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane came into the interconference battle with elevated expectations, considering the struggles of the Panthers against the run and the fact Tyreek Hill's (IR, knee) was expected to open up even more pass-catching opportunities for the versatile back. The latter partly did come to fruition, as Achane recorded his third-highest reception and target tallies of the season and salvaged his fantasy day with an impressive 10-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the second quarter. However, the speedy back was surprisingly stymied on the ground, leading to a season-low rushing yardage total. Achane's chances of a rebound in Week 6 are kind of bleak as well, considering he'll face off with a talented Chargers defense in South Florida.
Sep 29, 2025
Just over 100 total yards in win
Achane rushed 20 times for 99 yards and a touchdown and brought in one of two targets for two yards in the Dolphins' 27-21 win over the Jets on Monday night. He also committed a fumble recovered by Miami.
ANALYSIS
Achane rattled off several chunk gains against the Jets defense, particularly in the fourth quarter as the Dolphins looked to ice their first victory of the season. The speedy third-year back's carry and yardage totals were both season-high figures, as the combination of Tyreek Hill's early exit due to a gruesome knee injury and a game script favorable to the ground game helped Achane's cause. With Hill presumably sidelined the rest of the season, Achane will be looked at to provide some of the explosive component lost by the wide receiver's absence, especially since the former is also a very capable pass catcher. Achane draws a highly favorable matchup in Week 5, as the Dolphins travel to Carolina to face the Panthers.
Sep 18, 2025
Accrues 91 total yards in loss
Achane rushed 12 times for 62 yards and brought in seven of nine targets for 29 yards in the Dolphins' 31-21 loss to the Bills on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
After being held to 2.7 yards per carry by the Patriots in Week 2, Achane bounced back with an efficient effort on the ground that included two double-digit-yardage runs. He also followed up an 8-92-1 receiving line against New England with another busy night as a receiver, albeit in a much more short-area role. Achane also saw rookie backfield mate Ollie Gordon convert a red-zone carry into a two-yard touchdown in the first quarter and log just three fewer carries, so the division of labor between the two will be worth monitoring in a Week 4 home matchup against the Jets on Monday night, Sept. 29.
Sep 14, 2025
Stands out as receiver in loss
Achane rushed 11 times for 30 yards and brought in eight of 10 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 33-27 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins were already down 12-0 at the end of one quarter, which immediately put Achane in catch-up mode when it came to consistent rushing opportunities. As his final line indicates, those remained relatively sparse overall, but game script did work in his favor when it came to his pass-catching role. Achane finished as the Dolphins' leader in both receptions and targets, while finishing second only to Tyreek Hill in receiving yards. Achane also went in for his second receiving touchdown in as many games to open the season when he recorded an impressive 29-yard scoring grab late in the first half, and he'll be slated for a key two-way role again during what is already essentially a must-win scenario for the Dolphins in a Week 3 Thursday night road matchup against the Bills.
Sep 7, 2025
Saves fantasy day with receiving TD
Achane rushed seven times for 55 yards and brought in three of four targets for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 33-8 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane was certainly efficient on the ground, but his opportunities were capped by a surprising game script that saw the Colts already ahead by a 20-0 margin at halftime. The speedy back did offer underwhelmed fantasy managers some solace with his fourth-quarter 11-yard touchdown reception, and more opportunities on the ground should be available in a Week 2 home matchup against the Patriots.
Sep 5, 2025
Cleared for Week 1
Achane (calf) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane participated without limitations in practice Friday and avoided a Week 1 injury designation after limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. He'll be backed up by rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon against the Colts, as fellow running back Jaylen Wright (knee) was ruled out Friday. Gordon could be better-suited for short-yardage work, but the speedy Achane should get the majority of touches in Miami's backfield.
Sep 5, 2025
On track to face Colts
Coach Mike McDaniel said Friday that Achane (calf) is "absolutely" on track to play in Sunday's season opener against the Colts, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That aligns with Achane's previous assertion that he feels 100 percent healthy and that his recent practice limitations were precautionary. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether the running back carries a Week 1 injury designation, but at this stage it looks like he'll be available to lead Miami's backfield this weekend.
Sep 4, 2025
Limited in practice Thursday
Achane (calf) was limited in practice Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has now officially been limited in back-to-back practices, though he said Wednesday that he feels 100 percent healthy and that the recent cap on his reps has simply been an effort not to aggravate his calf injury. The third-year pro appears on track to suit up for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Colts, though Furones reports that the Dolphins may opt to lean on big-bodied rookie Ollie Gordon in Week 1, and relegate the undersized Achane to a smaller workload than usual as he works to return from injury. Coach Mike McDaniel declined to offer an estimation of how the Dolphins' backfield reps will be divvied up Week 1, but whether or not Achane is able to upgrade to full participation at Friday's practice could be telling.
Sep 3, 2025
Officially limited Wednesday
Achane (calf) is listed as limited on Wednesday's practice report, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane said at practice Wednesday that he feels back to 100 percent health, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, so the Dolphins may simply still be taking a cautious approach to the undersized playmaker's recovery. With Mike McDaniel having said Monday that he still expects Achane to suit up Sunday on the road against Indianapolis, it sounds like the 23-year-old will be on track to play Week 1 even if he's officially listed as "questionable" on Friday's injury report. Jaylen Wright (leg) didn't practice Wednesday and appears set to miss time, so Ollie Gordon looks positioned as the No. 2 backfield option behind Achane versus the Colts.
Sep 3, 2025
Practicing, but appears limited
Achane (calf) was a limited participant during the open portion of Wednesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Reporters only had access to a brief portion of the practice, making it difficult to gauge Achane's level of participation in team drills. Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that he expects the RB to play this Sunday at Indianapolis, even though Achane missed the final two weeks of August with a calf injury. Fellow Miami running back Jaylen Wright (leg) is considered far less likely to play, leaving Ollie Gordon as the unquestioned next man up, at least for Week 1.
Sep 1, 2025
Returning to practice Monday
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Achane (calf) will practice and remains on track for Sunday's regular-season opener on the road against Indianapolis "if he doesn't have any setbacks," Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane will practice for the first time since he sustained a soft-tissue calf injury Aug. 16, a positive step in the right direction even if he's limited in his return to on-field work. McDaniel has consistently indicated that Achane is on track to play Week 1, though Miami has taken a cautious approach to his recovery and prioritized avoiding any setbacks. With Jaylen Wright (leg) not practicing Monday and trending in the wrong direction Week 1, expanded backfield opportunities behind Achane figure to be on tap for rookie Ollie Gordon, who McDaniel said "took advantage of an inopportune health situation," C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
Aug 27, 2025
Expected to be ready for Week 1
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Wednesday that the team expects Achane (calf) to suit up Week 1 versus the Colts, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane remained absence from practice Tuesday as he continues to manage a calf injury, but all signals from Miami have been that the team is simply taking a cautious approach to the starting running back's recovery, and that he should be back in action in advance of the regular-season opener at Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 7. On the other hand, Jaylen Wright (leg) may not be ready to go versus the Colts, so no matter how much confidence rookie sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon has earned after his impressive preseason, the Dolphins figure to actively pursue the running back position with waiver claims and practice squad signings Wednesday, in the wake of NFL-wide cut-downs to a 53-man roster.
Aug 26, 2025
Not practicing Tuesday
Achane (calf) is not participating in Tuesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike McDaniel said Saturday, after Miami's preseason game against Jacksonville, that the team will continue to take a cautious approach to Achane's recovery and that the starting running back is expected to retake the practice field ahead of the regular-season opener against Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 7. The Dolphins may intend for Achane to use this week to rest, however, and for him to instead retake the field as Week 1 practices officially begin. Ollie Gordon is currently the only healthy running back on Miami's roster, with Jaylen Wright (leg) seemingly trending in the wrong direction for Week 1, so the team be motivated to seek additional backfield depth.
Aug 23, 2025
Cautious approach continues
Coach Mike McDaniel said after Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars that Achane (calf) hasn't suffered any setbacks, and the running back should return to practice ahead of a Week 1 road matchup with the Colts on Sunday, Sept. 7, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has missed a week of practice sandwiched by the Dolphins' last two exhibitions due to a calf injury. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, McDaniel previously has noted that Achane's absence is "preventative in nature," so the team likely will continue to take a cautious approach with its No. 1 running back. Whether or not Achane mixes into drills this week or during Week 1 prep remains to be seen, but with top reserve RB Jaylen Wright week-to-week due to a right leg injury, rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon currently is the healthiest and most fantasy-friendly of Miami's remaining options at the position.
Aug 20, 2025
Not practicing Wednesday
Achane (calf) didn't practice Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Louis-Jacques previously relayed that Achane wasn't likely to practice this week, so we wouldn't expect the running back to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Jaguars. That said, coach Mike McDaniel indicated that the team's approach in terms of Achane's practice participation this week is "preventative in nature," with Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network having previously noted that the plan is for Miami's lead back to be available for the team's Sept. 7 regular season opener against the Colts.
Aug 18, 2025
Unlikely to practice this week
Achane is dealing with a calf injury, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, coach Mike McDaniel noted Monday that the Dolphins don't want Achane's injury to linger, so the running back likely won't practice this week. On the plus side, Wolfe indicates that at this stage, the plan is for Achane to play against the Colts in Week 1.
Aug 16, 2025
Dealing with soft-tissue injury
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Saturday that Achane is dealing with a "soft tissue lower body" injury, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel said Achane's injury isn't serious, but it's nonetheless concerning to see the undersized starting running back nursing a soft-tissue injury as Week 1 looms nearer. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, McDaniel said Achane will be reassessed at team facilities this week but is expected to be out "between days and weeks." Achane sat out Saturday's 24-17 preseason win over the Lions along with the rest of the starting offense, and his status now appears uncertain for the Dolphins' exhibition finale against Jacksonville on Saturday, Aug. 23. With Alexander Mattison (neck) done for the year, Jaylen Wright and rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon figure to benefit from increased first-team reps as long as Achane remains sidelined. Wright struggled on the ground versus Detroit, rushing four times for just three yards, while Gordon turned 10 carries into 50 rushing yards, with a long run of 19 yards.
Aug 10, 2025
Three carries in preseason opener
Achane rushed three times for 22 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 24-24 preseason tie against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Achane got the first three carries for the Dolphins before Jaylen Wright subbed in on the opening drive. Wright was stuffed twice from the 1-yard line to end that possession, though the speedy backup bounced back with a seven-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Achane's firmly locked in atop Miami's running back depth chart, but the pecking order behind him is uncertain, with Wright, Alexander Mattison (neck) and rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon -- all three of whom found the end zone Sunday -- competing for the No. 2 role heading into Miami's next preseason game Saturday in Detroit.
Jul 29, 2025
Early standout at training camp
Achane has impressed during the early portion of training camp, and he made several big plays at practice Tuesday, Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane opened 11-on-11 team drills Tuesday with an impressive run, and he logged a pair of big plays to close out the day, one in the receiving game via a deep pass from Tua Tagovailoa, and one via a hole opened by the interior O-line. It's encouraging to see Achane meshing well with Miami's revamped O-line, especially against a bolstered pass rush that includes a healthy Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, while returning Zach Sieler and Chop Robinson. Achane remains the Dolphins' clear lead back after a stellar sophomore season in which he tallied career-high totals across the board with 203 carries for 907 yards (4.5 YPC) and six scores, plus an outstanding 78-592-6 receiving line on 87 targets. Miami's decision to replace tight end Jonnu Smith (traded to Pittsburgh) with Darren Waller, who spent last season retired from the NFL, leaves Achane with less target competition in the short and intermediate area of the field, and the combination of Jaylen Wright, Alexander Mattison and Ollie Gordon look more like
Jan 5, 2025
Star on offense Sunday
Achane took 11 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown without recording a reception in Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Achane was the standout on offense in an otherwise forgettable performance by the Dolphins to close out the 2024 schedule. It was also oddly the sterling sophomore's first professional game without recording a target or a reception. Achane capped off a strong fantasy year by setting new career highs in rushing (907) and receiving yards (592) with six rushing and receiving touchdowns respectively.
Dec 29, 2024
Produces dud against CLE
Achane rushed 10 times for 25 yards while bringing in both of his targets for 13 receiving yards in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Achane struggled in a matchup with a game script that should have benefited the winning side's starting running back. Despite the underwhelming performance, the sophomore standout remains a fantasy presence with 1,378 combined yards yards from scrimmage with 11 total touchdowns in 16 games this season. Achane will certainly be a focal point of the Dolphins' offensive attack in a matchup against the Jets next Sunday that could help push Miami into playoff contention with a victory.
Dec 22, 2024
Explodes for 190 yards Sunday
Achane took 17 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown while corralling six of seven targets for 70 yards in Sunday's 29-17 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Achane took full advantage of San Francisco's porous rush defense en route to his first 100-plus yard rushing game of the season. In addition to his gaudy rushing totals, the explosive back also led the Dolphins in receiving yardage Sunday. Achane failed to eclipse the 4.0 yards per carry barometer of success for rushers in each of his last four appearances, but he absolutely crushed that mark with a 7.1 yard average against the 49ers. Backup Raheem Mostert remained involved with 10 touches, but it's Achane that fantasy managers should prefer out of Miami's backfield heading into next Sunday's tilt against Cleveland.
Dec 15, 2024
Tallies 76 total yards in loss
Achane rushed 12 times for 41 yards and brought in all seven targets for 35 yards in the Dolphins' 20-12 loss to the Texans on Sunday. He also fumbled once but possession remained with Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Achane doubled up Raheem Mostert in carries and finished with his highest rushing yardage total since Week 11. However, Achane failed to average even 4.0 yards per carry for the fourth straight contest, but he was once again heavily involved as a receiver. Achane has recorded at least six catches in three straight games, but he'll aim to get back on track on the ground in a Week 16 home matchup against a 49ers defense that's had trouble against the run on occasion.
Dec 8, 2024
Rushing TD, six catches in OT win
Achane rushed 14 times for 24 yards and a touchdown while catching six of seven targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 32-26 overtime win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Achane finally opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run after mustering just one yard on three previous rushing attempts inside the 3-yard line. He later went to the medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion after taking a big hit, per CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins, and Achane spent a significant chunk of the first half on the sidelines before checking back in on Miami's final drive before halftime. He failed to find much running room but remained heavily involved as a pass catcher, as has been customary when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa plays. Heading into a Week 15 trip to Houston, Achane has racked up at least six receptions in six of Tagovailoa's nine starts this season.
Nov 29, 2024
Productive as receiver in loss
Achane rushed seven times for 14 yards and brought in eight of nine targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 30-17 loss to the Packers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Achane's final rushing line speaks to both how difficult it was to find running room and how little an opportunity he got due to game script. The Dolphins were down 24-3 by halftime, so Achane's biggest contributions were as a receiver. The versatile back finished second on the Dolphins in receptions and tied for second in targets, with the latter figure also setting a new season high. Achane's workload on the ground marked the end of a six-game streak of double-digit carries, but he should have a chance to get back to his typical volume in a Week 14 home matchup against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Nov 24, 2024
Two receiving TDs in win
Achane rushed 10 times for 32 yards and brought in three of four targets for 24 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins' 34-15 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane surprisingly found running room at a premium against a Patriots team that had struggled against opposing ground attacks all season, but he made up for it with the second multi-TD receiving effort of his career. Achane found the end zone from nine and 11 yards exactly six minutes apart in the second quarter, his fourth and fifth touchdowns over the last four games. Achane figures in for another busy workday when the Dolphins travel to Lambeau Field to face off with the Packers in a Thanksgiving Night showdown Thursday.
Nov 17, 2024
Eclipses 100 total yards in win
Achane rushed 17 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and brought in all four targets for 32 yards in the Dolphins' 34-19 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane once again served as the clear lead back and also held down a solid pass-catching role, netting another productive afternoon for the explosive second-year back. Achane's two-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter was his third score on the ground this season and sixth overall, and he now has a robust 24 receptions in his last four games alone. Achane will next do battle with a vulnerable Patriots run defense in a Week 12 home matchup.
Nov 11, 2024
Garners 52 total yards in win
Achane rushed 12 times for 37 yards and secured all five targets for 15 yards in the Dolphins' 23-15 win over the Rams on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Achane was stymied on the ground by a Rams defense that had frequently struggled stopping the run, and although he remained a big part of the air attack, his receiving yardage total was his lowest in any game this season with at least five receptions. His backfield mate Raheem Mostert notably did not log any carries Monday night while Jaylen Wright recorded a modest five rush attempts, further confirming that Achane seems to be in control of the ground game heading into a Week 11 home matchup against the Raiders.
Nov 3, 2024
Scores twice in Week 9 loss
Achane rushed 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown while catching all eight of his targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Achane gave the Dolphins a 10-3 lead with a 14-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, and he added an eight-yard rushing score in the fourth. He finished with 20 touches to Raheem Mostert's 12, as Achane was much more active as a pass catcher. Achane has at least 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in all four games started by Tua Tagovailoa this season, so the second-year running back profiles as a strong Week 10 fantasy option against the Rams on MNF.
Oct 27, 2024
Shines in QB's return
Achane rushed 10 times for 97 yards while catching six of eight targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Achane got 47 of his 147 scrimmage yards on an explosive third-quarter run, and he fittingly capped that drive with a 12-yard touchdown catch. He finished with 16 touches while Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright combined for 12, but Mostert's nine carries included a pair of short touchdown runs. Achane and Mostert coexisted effectively in Achane's 2023 rookie season, and the return of Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) under center raises the ceiling for Miami's entire offense heading into a Week 9 trip to Buffalo.
Oct 20, 2024
Leading rusher in Week 7 loss
Achane carried the ball 15 times for 77 yards and caught two of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins' offense struggled once again with Tyler Huntley (shoulder) and then Tim Boyle under center, but Achane was still able to accumulate solid yardage and led the team in rushing. With Boyle potentially set for the start in Week 8 against the Cardinals if none of Huntley, Skylar Thompson (ribs) or Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) are able to suit up, Achane and Raheem Mostert (11 totes for 50 yards Sunday) could be in line for even bigger volume out of the backfield.
Oct 18, 2024
Clears concussion protocol
Achane (concussion) said Friday he's fully cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and is in line to suit up for Sunday's road matchup against the Colts, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has been a full participation in practice coming off a Week 6 bye, and he's now fully on track to play Week 7 after having gained clearance from an independent neurologist. Including a Week 5 performance in which Achane handled just three carries before being forced off the field versus New England, the second-year pro has amassed just 63 rushing yards while averaging 2.3 YPC in his last three appearances. Now having shed any injury designation, Achane will have a chance to bounce back as the leader of Miami's backfield versus Indianapolis. While Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright represent threats to Achane's overall workload, he remains the No. 1 option in the Dolphins' talented running back room, a group that could see substantial work with Tyler Huntley still at the helm under center.
Oct 18, 2024
Optimism for Week 7
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said he's "optimistic" that Achane (concussion) will fully clear the NFL's concussion protocol after Friday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane still needs to gain clearance from an independent neurologist, but he's otherwise practiced in full this week and seems to be trending in the right direction coming out of a Week 6 bye. Assuming Achane can indeed gain full clearance in time for Sunday's road matchup in Indianapolis, he'll figure to lead Miami's speedy backfield, in which Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright are also pushing for touches.
Oct 17, 2024
Another full practice
Achane (concussion) was a full practice participant Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has now logged back-to-back full practices without a non-contract jersey, seemingly putting him in the final stage of concussion protocol, at which point he needs clearance from a neurologist before playing in Sunday's game at Indianapolis. Assuming that happens, he'll step in as the leader of a speedy, talented backfield in which Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright loom as threats to take a portion of the snaps/carries.
Oct 16, 2024
Logs full practice
Achane (concussion) practiced fully Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Achane shed his non-contact jersey at Wednesday's practice, with the running back's listed full participation indicating that he's trending toward being available Sunday against the Colts, barring any setbacks. Assuming Achane officially clears the NFL's concussion protocol within the next couple of days, he'll be in line to head into the weekend without a Week 7 injury designation.

Sheds non-contact jersey
Achane is in the final stage of concussion protocol and isn't wearing an non-contact jersey at practice Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of a Week 6 bye, Achane wore the red, non-contact jersey at Monday's practice. He's apparently made progress since then and now has four days to gain clearance ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Colts, which will take place 14 days after Achane suffered a concussion in the Week 5 win at New England.

Dons non-contact jersey Monday
Achane (concussion) wore a red non-contact jersey in practice Monday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
It's encouraging that Achane was on the practice field with his teammates Monday coming out of Miami's Week 6 bye, but he still has a few hurdles to clear in order to pass the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. He will need to upgrade to full practice participation at some point prior to Sunday's game against the Colts to have a chance to suit up. Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright would likely take on larger roles should Achane sit out due to the concussion he sustained in the Week 5 win over the Patriots.

Won't return Sunday
Achane won't return to Sunday's game against the Patriots after suffering a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Achane thus finished the contest with three carries for 18 yards and one catch for minus-one yard. In his absence versus New England, Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright are available to handle Miami's backfield duties. Achane will target a return to action Oct. 20 against the Colts, following the Dolphins' Week 6 bye.
Oct 6, 2024
Evaluated for possible concussion
Achane is being evaluated for a possible concussion during Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit, Achane carried three times for 18 yards and caught one pass for minus-one yard. In his absence, Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright are available to handle Miami's backfield duties versus New England.

Stymied in Week 4 loss
Achane rushed 10 times for 15 yards and brought in all three targets for 14 yards in the Dolphins' 31-12 loss to the Titans on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Achane's forgettable numbers were essentially a microcosm of the type of night it was for the Dolphins' offense as a whole. The speedy back had a long run of only five yards and was repeatedly stymied, and both his rushing and receiving yardage totals were season lows. Achane logged just one more carry than rookie backfield mate Jaylen Wright, who played more than expected due to Raheem Mostert's (chest) inactive status and the fact Jeff Wilson suffered a knee injury in pregame warmups. Achane does have a favorable Week 5 matchup against the equally hapless Patriots on Sunday, but with Miami's quarterback situation also shaky irrespective of who's under center, it remains to be seen if he'll have enough running room to contribute meaningful numbers.
Sep 22, 2024
Held in check in Week 3 loss
Achane rushed 11 times for 30 yards and secured three of five targets for 28 yards in the Dolphins' 24-3 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. He also returned one kickoff for 32 yards.
ANALYSIS
Achane once again served as the lead back with Raheem Mostert (chest) sidelined, but the speedy back was frequently stymied by Mike Macdonald's aggressive defense. Naturally, it didn't help Achane's cause that the Dolphins opened the game with Skylar Thompson at quarterback and finished with Tim Boyle after the latter was knocked from the game with a chest injury. Achane will look for better results alongside whoever he shares the backfield with in a Week 4 Monday night home matchup against the Titans.
Sep 12, 2024
Bright spot in disappointing loss
Achane rushed 22 times for 96 yards and secured all seven targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 31-10 loss to the Bills on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Achane was the biggest part of the Dolphins' offense on a troublesome night overall that saw Tua Tagovailoa exit with a concussion late in the third quarter. Miami struggled to move the ball all night even when Tagovailoa was in the contest, with the notable exception of the majority of times it was in Achane's hands. The explosive second-year pro scored his team's only touchdown on a five-yard reception in the first quarter, and he handled a career-high 22-carry workload well in the absence of Raheem Mostert (chest). Achane also has encouragingly drawn 14 targets over the first two games and caught all of them while averaging 10.4 yards per grab. Irrespective of who's under center, the heavy usage should continue for arguably the Dolphins' best all-around offensive player in a Week 3 road matchup versus the Seahawks on Sept. 22.

Suits up Thursday
Achane (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Achane, who was listed as a non-participant on the Dolphins' first two posted practice reports following the team's 20-17 win over the Jaguars this past Sunday, was able return to the field for Wednesday's walk-through session and was deemed a limited participant. With his active status versus Buffalo confirmed and fellow RB Raheem Mostert (chest) inactive, Achane (who carried 10 times for 24 yards and a TD and had seven catches for 76 yards against Jacksonville) should have an opportunity to play a key role in Miami's Week 2 game plan in the absence of any limitations or in-game setbacks. Also in the team's backfield mix Thursday are Jeff Wilson and speedy fourth-round rookie Jaylen Wright, with both players likely to mix in as Achane works through his ankle issue.
Sep 12, 2024
Status hinges on pregame workout
Achane (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Bills, will have his availability determined based on how he fares in a pregame workout, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After logging 17 touches in the Dolphins' Week 1 win over the Jaguars this past Sunday, Achane was listed as a non-participant on Miami's first two practice reports released Monday and Tuesday. He returned to the field for Wednesday's walk-through practice, albeit as a limited participant. Head coach Mike McDaniel termed Achane as a game-time decision prior to the practice session, but Rapoport relays that Dolphins came away encouraged by how the running back looked Wednesday and have optimism that he plays. Official word on Achane's status -- one way or the other -- won't arrive until the Dolphins release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. If Achane gets the green light to play, he should draw the start with Raheem Mostert (chest) already ruled out, though the Dolphins may not be keen on having Achane handle a heavy workload on a short week. Jeff Wilson and Jaylen Wright are on hand as depth options in the backfield and are likely to take on elevated roles Thursday.
Sep 11, 2024
Officially questionable for TNF
Achane is was a limited participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice and is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's divisional matchup against the Bills, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has managed to upgrade to limited participation after being listed as 'DNP' on Miami's first two injury reports of the week, and Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports that the second-year running back moved well at the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media. Coach Mike McDaniel called Achane a game-time decision, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, so it sounds like his status could come down to the wire. Jeff Wilson and Jaylen Wright look like strong candidates to handle increased backfield work Week 2, in any case. Official word on Achane's status will arrive at least 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 11, 2024
Viewed as game-time decision
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that Achane (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for Thursday's matchup against the Bills, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel ruled out Raheem Mostert (chest) but was more guarded with respect to Achane's availability for Week 2. The second-year back was listed as a non-participant on the Dolphins' estimated practice reports for Monday and Tuesday, so much could hinge on how much activity he's able to handle during Wednesday's session. Though Mostert's absence would theoretically open up more reps for Achane if the latter is cleared to play, the Dolphins could instead choose to expand the roles of veteran Jeff Wilson and rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright in order to keep Achane's workload in check.
Sep 10, 2024
Sits out walk-through practice
Achane (ankle) was listed as a non-participant Tuesday in the Dolphins' walk-through practice, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Miami has listed Achane as a non-participant in both of its first two Week 2 injury reports, though the team hasn't held a formal practice session following Sunday's 20-17 win over the Jaguars. Achane carried 10 times for 24 yards and a touchdown to go with seven catches for 76 yards over his 35 snaps in the victory, so the Dolphins may be keen on building in some rest for him coming off the busy Week 1 performance. Head coach Mike McDaniel hasn't indicated that Achane's listed ankle issue is anything worrisome, though the second-year back may need to log some practice activity Wednesday to avoid taking a designation into Thursday's matchup with the Bills.
Sep 9, 2024
Estimated as non-practice participant
Achane (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Raheem Mostert (chest), an indication that both of Miami's top backs came out of Week 1 action banged up. As a result, the duo's status will need to be monitored ahead of Thursday night's game against the Bills. If one or both players are limited or out for the contest, added snaps would be available for Jeff Wilson, while Jaylen Wright could be active in Week 2 after being a healthy scratch in Sunday's season-opening win over the Jaguars.
Sep 8, 2024
Heavy work as receiver Sunday
Achane rushed 10 times for 24 yards and a touchdown and secured all seven targets for 76 yards in the Dolphins' 20-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane was the Dolphins' team leader in rush attempts, outpacing backfield mates Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson by four and five carries, respectively. However, while running room was at a premium as clearly indicated by Achane's final line, he put in highly productive work in the passing game and finished tied with Tyreek Hill for the team lead in receptions. Whether the division of labor in Miami's backfield was a harbinger of what's to come this season is difficult to determine after a one-game sample, but Achane's overall usage underscores how often head coach Mike McDaniel clearly wants the ball in the explosive second-year back's hands. Achane next takes aim at the Bills defense in a Week 2 Thursday night clash.
Aug 17, 2024
Efficient showing in preseason win
Achane rushed twice for 10 yards and secured two of three targets for 34 yards in the Dolphins' 13-6 preseason win over the Commanders on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The second-year back took his first carry with 7:29 remaining in the first quarter and played a total of three possessions. Achane recorded chunk gains of seven yards on the ground and eight and 26 yards through the air, flashing the signature explosiveness that made him a rookie sensation in 2023. Achane already appears in regular-season form, but it remains to be seen if he'll have a chance to garner a few more touches in Friday night's road preseason finale against the Buccaneers.

Mental strides entering Year 2
Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith praised Achane's improved "understanding of the offense" Thursday, saying "he's really made substantial growth," Adam Stites of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane said earlier this offseason that he's added muscle and improved his route running, and it appears that he's made a substantial mental leap as well. Even in a crowded backfield that also houses Raheem Mostert, rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright and veteran Jeff Wilson, it's difficult to ignore Achane's positive offseason momentum, especially coming off a rookie campaign in which he averaged 7.8 YPC on 103 carries, including four games with over 100 rushing yards. If Achane is able to maintain similar efficiency while both staying healthy and retaining a large workload, he'll have a clear path to superstardom and elite fantasy production, and thus far it appears he's put himself in prime position to make good on that potential. Of course, Achane's small frame remains a concern despite added muscle, especially after he missed he missed five games and most of a sixth due to injury as a rookie. Still, if his building offseason drumbeat is to be believed, Achane's explosiveness, improvement as a receiver

Wants more looks in passing game
Achane has prioritized improving his route-running this offseason and could earn more opportunities to line up out wide Year 2, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane said during June mandatory minicamp he's been "lining up at different positions, as far as like receiver, running routes and stuff," calling those drills "something that we're doing different this year." The second-year pro, who logged record-breaking efficiency during his rookie season, said that in addition to becoming a more versatile pass-catcher, his priority this offseason has been adding muscle in order to better avoid injury. Achane will have to compete with positional mates Raheem Mostert and rookie Jaylen Wright for touches during the 2024 campaign, so it would be encouraging to see him develop into a capable enough receiver to catch passes out wide, rather than only out of the backfield. Despite the Dolphins looking primed to deploy a backfield committee, Achane's explosiveness and big-play ability make it easy to project a high fantasy ceiling Year 2. If he's indeed able to improve his versatility and durability this offseason, that could also give him a more consistent floor.
May 29, 2024
Adds muscle in offseason
Coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that Achane has made "some strength gains" and improved his understanding of Miami's offense, Andre Fernandez of The Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Achane is off to a good start at the offseason program, potentially allowing him to gain ground on returning starter Raheem Mostert. Both backs figure to have significant roles after the impressive work they did last season, while fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright is a wild card to earn occasional carries. Adding some weight might lower Achane's injury risk a bit and/or allow him to take on more touches, though he still figures to be one of the smallest and fastest running backs in the league -- at least among players competing for a significant number of carries and early down snaps. He ran a 4.32 40 at 188 pounds at the 2023 Combine, before taking 103 carries for 800 yards (7.8 YPC) and three touchdowns in 11 regular-season games as a rookie. Achane also had 37 targets and three receiving TDs, with the pass-catching work allowing him to stay involved even when Mostert was healthy and gobbling up carries.
May 8, 2024
Joined by rookie in RB room
Achane and Raheem Mostert gained some competition for snaps via the additon of rookie Jaylen Wright in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, David Furones of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane is coming off a rookie campaign in which he rushed for 800 yards and eight scores (7.8 YPC) in just 11 games, while Mostert racked up 1,012 yards and an outstanding 18 touchdowns, so both should still enter the 2024 season as Miami's clear top backfield options. It's worth noting, though, that Wright also brings blazing speed (4.38-second 40) to the table, and neither Achane or Mostert boast the size to hold up to extreme workloads. While both Achane and Mostert demand double-digit touches, it's possible that the addition of Wright could represent a cap to their respective fantasy ceilings, especially if the rookie impresses enough to eventually force his way into a three-headed backfield split.

Bulks up during offseason
Achane looks more muscular after working out this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine (where he ran a 4.32 40-yard dash at 188 pounds). Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a TD per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably task Achane with more of the backfield work in his second pro season.
Jan 14, 2024
Inefficient in season-ending defeat
Achane rushed six times for nine yards and secured three of six targets for 21 yards in the Dolphins' 26-7 wild-card loss to the Chiefs on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Achane flashed with a multitude of explosive plays throughout his rookie season, one he finished with 800 rushing yards, 197 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns (eight rushing, three receiving) across 11 games. The 2023 third-round pick put together four 100-yard efforts as well and averaged a whopping 7.8 yards per carry, and come his second training camp this summer, Achane figures to be a prime contender for an appreciably larger role despite the expected return of veteran Raheem Mostert.
Jan 11, 2024
Cleared for wild-card game
Achane (toe/ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
As anticipated, Achane will be able to play through his pair of injuries Saturday after he concluded prep for the postseason opener with a full practice Thursday. Achane shined as the Dolphins' lead back over the final two weeks of the regular season, but it's unclear if he'll remain the No. 1 option in Kansas City. Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) was sidelined for Weeks 17 and 18 and is listed as questionable for Saturday's contest, but he may be in a better spot on the health front after he was listed as a limited practice participant Tuesday through Thursday. Even if Mostert is active for the wild-card round, Achane should at least have a path to 10-to-15 touches in a change-of-pace role.
Jan 10, 2024
Listed as limited participant
Achane (toe/ribs) is listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's injury report, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for Raheem Mostert, whose status is actually in question following his absences for Weeks 17 and 18 due to ankle and knee injuries. Achane took 29 touches for 198 yards and two TDs the past two weeks, and he should be ready for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs, be it as Miami's lead back or coming off the bench behind Mostert. The Dolphins should hold a more strenuous practice Thursday, after not practicing Tuesday and having a walk-through Wednesday.
Jan 9, 2024
Limited reps to open practice week
Achane (toe/ribs) was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Achane and Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) were gauged as limited participants to kick off the week of prep ahead of Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs, but the latter's health seems to be the bigger question mark than the former's. Mostert sat out both of the Dolphins' final two games of the regular season while managing just one limited practice apiece leading up to those contests, enabling Achane to see two of his larger workloads of the season. Achane didn't sacrifice much efficiency with the added touches, as he carried 24 times for 163 yards (6.8 average) and a touchdown to go with five catches for 35 yards and another score in losses to the Ravens and Bills. The Dolphins have optimism that Mostert will be cleared to play Saturday in Kansas City, but Achane may have earned himself a larger share of the backfield pie based on how he finished out the regular season.
Jan 8, 2024
Hits pay dirt sans No. 1 RB
Achane rushed 10 times for 56 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 loss to Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Regular starter Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) missed his second game in as many weeks due to multiple lower-body injuries, which opened the door for Achane to continue operating as Miami's lead back while also scoring the team's lone rushing touchdown Sunday. The explosive rookie unfathomably neared 1,000 combined yards from scrimmage (936) while scoring 10 total touchdowns despite spending a good portion of his 10 active games operating in a change-of pace role behind Mostert. Achane was already an exciting prospect in fantasy, but he could really put his name out there with a couple of big runs on the national stage against the Chiefs when the playoffs begin Saturday.
Jan 5, 2024
Good to go Sunday
Achane (toe/ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Achane has been cleared to play in the regular-season finale after he was a full participant in Friday's practice. In the absence of Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) in a Week 17 loss to the Ravens, the rookie paced the Miami backfield with 18 touches (14 carries, four catches) for 137 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown, but Achane could settle into more of a timeshare arrangement if Mostert is able to make it back for Sunday's game. Mostert is carrying a questionable tag into the Week 18 contest after not participating in practice sessions Wednesday and Thursday before returning to the field Friday as a limited participant.
Jan 4, 2024
Handles limited reps Thursday
Achane (toe) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) was listed as a non-participant for the second day in a row and could be at risk of missing a second straight game this Sunday versus Buffalo. The Dolphins' final Week 18 injury report will be released Friday and will reveal whether Achane and/or Mostert carry designations into the weekend, but at this stage, the former looks like the better bet to headline the Miami backfield. While Mostert was sidelined for the 56-19 loss to the Ravens in Week 17, Achane played 32 snaps and finished with 137 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown on 18 touches (14 carries, four catches).
Jan 3, 2024
Limited to start Week 18 prep
Achane (toe/ribs) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The ribs issue is new for Achane, but he's been dealing with the toe injury for weeks. With Raheem Mostert (shin) out last week, Achane played 48 percent of the offensive snaps and out-carried Jeff Wilson 14 to three, rushing for 107 yards while adding 4-30-1 receiving on five targets. Achane should be good to go for Sunday night's AFC East clash with the Bills.
Dec 31, 2023
Impressive in ugly loss
Achane rushed 14 times for 107 yards and secured four of five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 56-19 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Achane led the Dolphins in rushing yards in the absence of Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee), outpacing backfield mate Jeff Wilson by 11 carries. The rookie also enjoyed a solid role in the passing game on the way to his fifth game with over 100 scrimmage yards. Achane could be poised for a critical role, whether or not Mostert is available, in Sunday's Week 18 home showdown with the Bills that will decide the AFC East title
Dec 31, 2023
Set to be lead RB in Mostert's place
Achane appears poised to lead the Dolphins backfield Sunday in Baltimore following a report from Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that fellow running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) isn't slated to be available for the contest.
ANALYSIS
For a third consecutive week, Achane tended to a toe injury, ramping up his activity from none Wednesday to some one day later and then a full session Friday. The development was enough for him to avoid a Week 17 game designation, while Mostert's one limited practice to end the week left him questionable to suit up. Miami will be posting its inactive list about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, and assuming Mostert's name is included, Achane should take on No. 1 RB duties for the team, with Jeff Wilson and Chris Brooks in reserve roles.
Dec 29, 2023
Will be available in Baltimore
Achane (toe) was a full participant in practice Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane's toe injury won't keep him off the field Sunday, but there is less certainty over the availability of fellow running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle), whose only practice participation all week came in the form of a limited session Friday. If Mostert plays, he'll likely see the majority of touches in Miami's backfield over Achane and Jeff Wilson. Achane has logged between eight and 12 touches in each of the last three games.
Dec 28, 2023
Turns in limited practice
Achane (toe) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Dolphins' first Week 17 practice session Wednesday, Achane took a step forward in terms of activity a day later. The Dolphins haven't suggested that Achane's lingering toe injury is anything that will seriously threaten his availability for Sunday's game against the Ravens, but fellow running back Raheem Mostert's (knee/ankle) status may be a little more uncertain. Mostert is still expected to play this weekend, but he was a non-participant in practices Wednesday and Thursday and could take a designation into Sunday if he doesn't return to the field Friday as a full participant.
Dec 28, 2023
Returns to practice Thursday
Achane (toe) is participating in Thursday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane missed practice Wednesday due to a toe injury that's lingered in recent weeks, but which didn't keep him out of last Sunday's win over the Cowboys. Still, it's worth noting that Achane wasn't spotted working with his position group Thursday, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, meaning he likely won't take a full slate of reps. Raheem Mostert (ankle) scored versus Dallas but handled only 19 offensive snaps versus Achane's 35, so the health of Miami's backfield will be key to monitor heading into Sunday's road matchup against the Ravens.
Dec 27, 2023
Misses practice Wednesday
Achane (toe) did not practice Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie running back has been dealing with the toe issue the last few weeks but has played through it. Achane paced the Miami backfield in playing time last week, seeing action on 55 percent of the snaps while Raheem Mostert missed time with a shin problem. Achane has handled single-digit carries in each of the last three contests, posting 7-47-0, 9-32-0 and 7-24-0 rushing lines in that span. Achane hasn't found the end zone since Week 12.
Dec 24, 2023
Turns eight touches into 31 yards
Achane (toe) rushed seven times for 24 yards and caught one of three targets for seven yards in Sunday's 22-20 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Achane didn't take part in a full practice at any point this week while nursing a toe injury, but he was healthy enough to get clearance prior to kickoff Sunday. The explosive rookie finished with eight touches to starter Raheem Mostert's 12, but the latter scored Miami's only offensive touchdown Sunday and finished with the better fantasy line. Assuming he didn't aggravate his toe, Achane figures to hover around double-digit touches in a road matchup against the Ravens on Dec. 31.
Dec 22, 2023
Gets green light for Sunday
Achane (toe) doesn't carry a designation into Sunday's game against the Cowboys, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane never took part in a full practice this week, but the Dolphins evidently came away encouraged enough from what they saw from the rookie in limited sessions Thursday and Friday to clear him for Sunday's contest. Since returning to action Week 13 following a one-game absence due to a knee issue, Achane hasn't played more than 59 percent of snaps in any of the ensuing three contests, but he's still produced 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries (4.6 average) to go with 11 catches for 84 yards during that stretch. Even though Raheem Mostert remains Option 1A out of the Miami backfield, the explosive Achane still sees enough touches to make for a high-upside weekly fantasy play.
Dec 22, 2023
Coach believes he'll play
Coach Mike McDaniel said "I'm expecting to see him on Sunday" when asked Friday about Achane's (toe) availability for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel mentioned that Achane has been playing through injuries in recent weeks, so there's a high probability that the rookie running back will carry an injury designation into Sunday's game when the Dolphins post their injury report later Friday. Nonetheless, Achane is expected to suit up Sunday, as is Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle/rest), whose absence from practice Wednesday and Thursday was deemed precautionary by McDaniel.
Dec 21, 2023
Returns to limited practice
Achane (toe) was a limited participant Thursday in his return to practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane played through the same injury last week, taking 12 touches for 62 yards in a 30-0 win over the Jets. He's on the right track to play again this Sunday against the Cowboys, having returned to practice Thursday after what was seemingly a precautionary absence Wednesday. The rookie figures to continue mixing in behind Raheem Mostert, whose absences from practice Wednesday and Thursday don't seem especially concerning given that the Dolphins have often held him out this season and are listing 'rest' as one of the reasons for the veteran missing practice this week.
Dec 21, 2023
Back at practice Thursday
Achane (toe) returned to practice Thursday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane didn't practice Wednesday, but the running back's return to practice a day later suggests that his non-participation to start the week was maintenance-related. Miami's upcoming injury report will clarify Achane's official participation level Thursday.
Dec 20, 2023
Sits out practice Wednesday
Achane (toe) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice report, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane approached this past Sunday's 30-0 win over the Jets listed as questionable after having worked in a limited fashion Friday and ended up logging nine carries for 32 yards and three catches for 30 yards in the contest. With no reported setbacks since then, there's a decent chance that both Achane's and Raheem Mostert's (knee/ankle/veteran rest) listed 'DNPs' to start the practice week ahead of this weekend's game against the Cowboys were maintenance-related.
Dec 17, 2023
Outplayed by Mostert again in win
Achane (toe) rushed nine times for 32 yards and caught all three of his targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 30-0 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Achane ceded goal-line opportunities to Raheem Mostert, who scored twice to raise his season rushing touchdown total to 18. Mostert had just 43 scrimmage yards on 17 touches, so neither speedy running back broke off many big plays. Achane's longest gain came on a 13-yard catch, though he also had a key play on the ground, converting on fourth-and-2 with a four-yard carry on the final play of the third quarter. Mostert has settled in as the top option in Miami's backfield heading into a Week 16 home game against the Cowboys, but Achane has handled a substantial complementary role when available.

Suits up Sunday
Achane (toe) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Achane approached the contest listed as questionable, after having been estimated as a non-participant Wednesday and Thursday, before working in a limited fashion Friday. Now that the dynamic rookie's active status has been confirmed, Achane will be available to continue to work in tandem with fellow RB Raheem Mostert. Even in a context in which the two work in some form of a time-share, Achane has enough playmaking ability to yield fantasy dividends in Week 15, assuming no in-game limitations or setbacks.
Dec 15, 2023
Questionable for Sunday
Achane (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets after logging a limited practice Friday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After having been estimated as a non-participant Wednesday and Thursday, Achane was able to work in a limited fashion Friday, which gives him a chance to suit up this weekend. Ideally added context regarding Achane's Week 15 status will arrive as Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff approaches, but if he ends up out or limited versus New York, Jeff Wilson would be in line to log added backfield work behind Raheem Mostert (knee).
Dec 14, 2023
Another 'DNP' listing
Achane (toe) was listed as a non-participant in Thursday's walk-through, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane was estimated as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice and with another listed 'DNP' on Thursday, the running back's status is uncertain ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets. Added clarity with regard to Achane's Week 15 status will arrive no later than Friday's injury report, but if the 2023 third-rounder is out or limited this weekend, Jeff Wilson would likely garner added Week 15 snaps behind Raheem Mostert (knee).
Dec 13, 2023
Tending to toe issue this week
Achane was estimated as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice report due to a toe injury.
ANALYSIS
Achane appeared on the Dolphins' Week 14 injury report due to a rib issue, though he was listed as a full practice participant Thursday through Saturday before he played 31 snaps and finished with 71 yards from scrimmage on 12 touches (seven carries, five receptions) in a 28-27 loss to Tennessee on Monday. The rookie running back is tending to a new injury in Week 15, and unlike last week, he'll end up missing some practice reps as a result. If Achane is able to get back on the field in some capacity Thursday or Friday, it would assuage some of the concern about his health heading into Sunday's game against the Jets.
Dec 12, 2023
Turns 12 touches into 71 yards
Achane rushed seven times for 47 yards while catching five of nine targets for 24 yards in Monday's 28-27 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Achane played second fiddle on the ground to Raheem Mostert, who rushed 21 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. The rookie running back actually led Miami in targets as star receiver Tyreek Hill was in and out of the game with an ankle injury, but Achane wasn't nearly as effective at getting into the open field without a healthy Hill on hand to divert the defense's attention. This was the first time in seven NFL appearances that Achane finished with double digits in scrimmage yards, as he previously had two games with fewer than 10 and four with over 100. He'll likely continue to work in a prominent change-of-pace role behind Mostert in Week 15 against the Jets.
Dec 4, 2023
Logs 20 touches in return
Achane rushed 17 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns and brought in three of four targets for 30 yards in the Dolphins' 45-15 win over the Commanders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a near two-game absence due to a reoccurrence of the knee injury that had led to a four-game stint on injured reserve, Achane was sparingly used early but saw his opportunity ramp up as the Dolphins expanded their lead. Achane ultimately garnered eight more touches than backfield mate Raheem Mostert, although that did appear to be the byproduct of game script. Nevertheless, Achane's electric speed is difficult to keep off the field, so he'll enjoy a solid complementary role, at minimum, in a Week 14 Monday night home matchup against the Titans on Dec. 11.
Dec 1, 2023
Off injury report
Achane (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game Washington, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins made it official a few hours after coach Mike McDaniel announced Achane was ready to return. The rookie had a setback with his knee in his first game back from a stint on injured reserve, but the Dolphins don't seem too worried about a significant reinjury occurring. Achane figures to share backfield work with Raheem Mostert, and possibly Jeff Wilson as well.

Coach says he's playing Week 13
Coach Mike McDaniel said Friday that Achane (knee) will play Sunday against the Commanders, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen whether Achane is given an injury designation when Miami's Week 13 injury report comes out later Friday, but even if he winds up getting a questionable tag, the team plans for the rookie running back to make his return Sunday. Achane has missed five of the past six games due to a knee injury, but he preceded this stretch of unavailability with 518 scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns over a three-game span.
Nov 30, 2023
Maintains limited practice activity
Achane (knee) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Dolphins' 34-13 win over the Jets last Friday, Achane has opened Week 13 prep with a pair of limited practices. Though the aggravation his knee injury doesn't look to be anything that will put him at risk of another stint on injured reserve, Achane may need to put in a full practice Friday to avoid a second straight missed game this Sunday in Washington. If Achane can't play, Jeff Wilson would likely be in line to work in a supporting role behind lead back Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee).
Nov 29, 2023
Remains limited in practice
Achane (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane also was listed as limited each day last week, after aggravating his knee injury in the first quarter of a Week 11 win over the Raiders. He ended up missing the win over New York last Friday, but a return for Sunday's game at Washington is possible given that the Dolphins reportedly aren't expecting another long-term absence. Jeff Wilson figures to spell Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) again in the event of Achane missing another game.
Nov 24, 2023
Won't play Friday
Achane (knee) is inactive for Friday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Achane approached the contest officially listed as questionable, but he'll sit this one out as he deals with a knee issue that flared up in his return to action in Week 11. In his absence, Raheem Mostert is in line to lead Miami's backfield Friday, with Jeff Wilson on hand to provide support and Darrynton Evans available in reserve. Achane will now target a potential return to action Dec. 3 against the Commanders.
Nov 24, 2023
Not expected to face Jets
Achane (knee) isn't expected to play Friday against the Jets, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane is officially listed as questionable by the Dolphins, but Pelissero indicates that the running back is trending toward missing Friday's 3 p.m. ET contest. If that is indeed the case, Raheem Mostert would be in line to lead Miami's Week 12 backfield, with Jeff Wilson and Darrynton Evans also available to mix in.
Nov 23, 2023
Questionable for Friday
Achane (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Jets, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site, Achane remained listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate, and with the official 'questionable' listing, the rookie running back's status for Friday's 3:00 pm ET kickoff is uncertain. If Achane is unavailable for the contest, Jeff Wilson and Darrynton Evans would be candidates to log complementary snaps behind Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee), who doesn't carry a Week 12 injury designation.
Nov 22, 2023
Practices in limited fashion
Achane (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
For the second day in a row, Achane appears on Miami's injury report as a limited practice participant, though the running back was actually able to get on the field Wednesday after Tuesday's practice report was merely an estimate. According to Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald, head coach Mike McDaniel said earlier Wednesday that the team is comfortable with Achane from a medical standpoint after he played just a handful of snaps in this past Sunday's win over the Raiders before exiting with a knee issue, but the rookie running back still needs to regain more confidence in his health. To that end, McDaniel noted that Wednesday's practice was a "big day" for the Dolphins to assess Achane's status for Friday's game against the Jets, but the team won't determine whether Achane carries a Week 12 designation until Thursday.
Nov 22, 2023
In line to practice Wednesday
Achane (knee) is slated to practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Rapoport, coach Mike McDaniel suggested that how Achane fares during Wednesday's session will determine how much (if at all) the running back will play Friday against the Jets. If Achane ends up out or limited in the contest, Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee) would figure to be busy, with Jeff Wilson (a healthy scratch in Week 11) a candidate to mix in now that Salvon Ahmed (foot) is on IR.
Nov 21, 2023
Gets limited listing Tuesday
Achane (knee) was listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first game action since Week 5 this past Sunday versus the Raiders, Achane made an early exit after his knee was landed on. Coach Mike McDaniel told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network that Achane was held out thereafter as a precaution because it was the same knee that forced the running back's stint on IR. On Monday, McDaniel called Achane "day-to-day" and wouldn't rule him out for Friday's game at the Jets, per Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. With a limited walkthrough under his belt to begin Week 12 prep, Achane seems to have a chance to play later this week, but his activity level Wednesday and Thursday likely will have much sway on the Dolphins' upcoming decision. If Achane is limited or out Friday, Raheem Mostert will serve as Miami's top running back, with Jeff Wilson the likely main reserve after the team placed Salvon Ahmed (foot) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Nov 20, 2023
Not ruled out for Week 12
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Achane (knee) is day-to-day and hasn't been ruled out for Friday's game against the Jets, Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel confirmed that Achane is dealing with an injury to the same knee that recently caused him to spend four games on IR, per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, but that the issue won't require surgery. Friday's matchup against the Jets could still be too soon for Achane to retake the field, and even if he does manage to suit up, fantasy managers may want to see him actually handle a significant workload before trusting him in starting lineups considering his recent early exit. If Achane isn't able to play in New York, Raheem Mostert will stand to lead Miami's backfield, while Salvon Ahmed and Jeff Wilson handle depth roles.
Nov 19, 2023
McDaniel explains RB's exit
Coach Mike McDaniel said after Sunday's win against the Raiders that Achane's abbreviated outing was spurred by the running back's knee getting landed on, and the Dolphins exercised caution because it was the same knee that forced his recent IR stint, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane's Week 11 came to a close during the second quarter of Sunday's game, and while McDaniel received positive feedback from Miami's training staff regarding the rookie's knee, he didn't return despite his pleas to do so. As a result, Achane was contained to a disappointing one carry for one yard and one catch for four yards. There's a chance his activity level is impacted this week as the Dolphins prepare for Friday's road matchup with the Jets, but it doesn't appear as if he's in danger of missing that contest.
Nov 19, 2023
Exits game with knee issue
Achane was forced out of Sunday's game against the Raiders with a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
It remains be seen if Achane's knee injury is an aggravation of the one he dealt with before coming off IR, or unrelated to that. Prior to his exit from Sunday's contest, Achane ran once for one yard and caught his only target for four yards.
Nov 19, 2023
Cleared for return to lineup
Achane (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Achane ended up spending the minimum four games on injured reserve with the knee issue that has sidelined him since Week 6. Following their Week 10 bye, the Dolphins cleared Achane to return to practice, and he turned in three limited sessions before taking a questionable tag into the weekend. The Dolphins ultimately reinstated Achane from IR on Saturday to formally add him to the 53-man roster, and the expectation is that the dynamic rookie will be a "full go" in his return to the lineup, per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network. The Dolphins' decision to make Jeff Wilson a healthy inactive further supports that notion, though Achane is still likely to share snaps out of the backfield with starter Raheem Mostert. Even so, Achane could make for a viable lineup option in his return after he led the NFL in yards per carry (12.1) and rushing yards per game (115) while accounting for seven touchdowns in four games prior to his absence.
Nov 18, 2023
Coming off IR
The Dolphins are activating Achane (knee) from injured reserve Saturday. He remains questionable for Sunday's contest against Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Achane is already listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, but his official elevation from IR on Saturday is a necessary prerequisite to him suiting up for Week 11. The explosive rookie has missed Miami's last four games due to a knee sprain, so it's unclear whether he'll handle his full assortment of snaps if cleared to play Sunday, with Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee) and Jeff Wilson both expected to be available. Still, considering Achane's ability big-play ability and capacity to turn a single touch into a house call, fantasy managers will have a difficult time keeping him on the bench as long as he is officially cleared ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 17, 2023
Listed as questionable for Week 11
Achane (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins designated Achane for return from injured reserve Monday, and he followed it up with three limited practices during Week 11 prep. Coach Mike McDaniel told David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Friday that the Dolphins are "prepared to" activate Achane from IR and are "very optimistic about that" happening. The team must do so by Saturday afternoon in order for the rookie running back to have a chance to play this weekend. If Achane rejoins Miami's backfield Sunday, he may not handle a full allotment of reps right away, especially with Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee) and Jeff Wilson available. Still, Achane may be worthy of a roster spot considering he averaged a whopping 12.1 yards on the first 38 carries of his career and scored seven touchdowns through four games before spraining his knee.
Nov 17, 2023
Trending toward playing Sunday
Coach Mike McDaniel relayed that the Dolphins are "prepared to" activate Achane (knee) off IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders, with a decision on that front in line to be made after Friday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
In terms of Achane returning this weekend, McDaniel is "very optimistic about that" on the heels of the running back logging back-to-back limited practices Wednesday and Thursday. Assuming Achane is activated ahead of Saturday afternoon's deadline to do so, the 2023 third-rounder would presumably re-enter a time-share with Raheem Mostert (ankle/knee), though in even in that context Achane has enough playmaking ability to merit fantasy lineup consideration in Week 11.
Nov 15, 2023
Listed as limited participant
Achane (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
It's no surprise the Dolphins don't have their rookie running back practicing in full after a five-week, four-game layoff, though multiple Dolphins beat reporters said Achane looked good at Wednesday's practice and wasn't using any kind of brace or sleeve over his injured knee. Veteran RB Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) also was a limited participant Wednesday, and there's been no indication either of his injuries is serious as the Dolphins come out of their bye week. It appears the team may have both backs available for a home game against the Raiders this Sunday, but confirm isn't likely to come until later in the week.
Nov 15, 2023
Practicing again
Achane (knee) is practicing Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Oyefusi says the RB looks "spry", with Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com noting that Achane didn't have a non-contact jersey and wasn't using a brace or sleeve over his knee. The early signs point to a return for Sunday's game against the Raiders, though it remains to be seen if the Dolphins list Achane as a full or limited participant Wednesday.
Nov 13, 2023
Practice window opens
The Dolphins announced Monday that Achane (knee) has been designated for return from IR, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane's 21-day practice window thus begins, making him eligible to retake the field as soon as Sunday's contest against the Raiders. The electric rookie has already missed a requisite four games on IR due to a knee injury, and reports out of Miami have consistently hinted that he isn't expected to miss more time than required. Once fully cleared, Achane figured to resume working alongside veteran Raheem Mostert atop the Dolphins' backfield. Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Monday that Achane's injury was a sprain, and not a tear, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com. That could make it easier for Achane to immediately resume handling his normal workload, rather than having to ramp things up.
Nov 6, 2023
Trending toward Week 11 return
Coach Mike McDaniel noted Monday that Achane (knee) hasn't experienced any setbacks, adding that he doesn't see any reason why the running back won't be ready to return to return from IR when he's eligible to do so following the Dolphins' bye week, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That aligns with previously reports suggesting that Achane wasn't expected to miss more than the necessary four games per his IR stint, though McDaniel did acknowledge that the Dolphins plan to take things "one day at a time" with the rookie back ahead of the team's Nov. 19 contest against the Raiders. Once he's ready to rejoin the lineup, Achane figures to re-enter a time-share with Raheem Mostert, though given how explosive the 2023 third-rounder looked before his injury, we'd expect the Dolphins to find ways to get the ball in Achane's hand once he's cleared for game action.
Oct 15, 2023
Eyeing Week 11 return
Achane (knee) is expected to miss the minimum four games while on injured reserve and will likely be activated ahead of the Dolphins' Week 11 game against the Raiders on Nov. 19, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the Dolphins haven't provided many details regarding the knee injury that forced Achane to IR on Wednesday, the rookie running back appears to have avoided a season-ending injury and looks to be on pace for a return following the Dolphins' Week 10 bye. While Achane's timeline could change if he endures any hiccups in the rehab process over the next month, fantasy managers in redraft leagues are advised to continue stashing the 22-year-old, given the immense upside he displayed through the first quarter of the season. Despite sitting out Week 1 and playing just five snaps on offense Week 2, Achane enters Week 6 as the NFL's second-leading rusher with 460 yards, and he's already found the end zone seven times on 47 touches.
Oct 11, 2023
Officially moves to IR
The Dolphins placed Achane on IR on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Now that Achane is officially on IR, he'll miss at least four games. With the Dolphins on bye Week 10, the soonest the running back is eligible to return to action is Week 11 versus the Raiders. While Achane is sidelined, Raheem Mostert figures to lead Miami's backfield, with Jeff Wilson (ribs) slated to practice this week and a candidate to mix in once he's activated off IR. Meanwhile, Chris Brooks and Salvon Ahmed are also on hand to provide the team with backfield depth in the coming weeks.
Oct 11, 2023
Pending IR move confirmed
Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Wednesday that Achane (knee) will be placed on IR, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane will be forced to miss at least four games when officially placed on IR, though the Dolphins may not necessarily put the transaction through Wednesday. That will make the rookie eligible to retake the field after the team's bye, meaning Week 11 versus the Raiders will be his earliest chance to play. Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports that McDaniel declined to reveal whether Achane's knee injury could require surgery, but said the issue is "not grave."
Oct 11, 2023
Expected to go on IR
The Dolphins plan to place Achane (knee) on injured reserve this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Once the move becomes official, Achane would then be forced to miss at least four games. With the Dolphins on bye Week 10, the soonest the running back could return to action would be Week 11 versus the Raiders. In Achane's looming absence, Raheem Mostert is slated to lead Miami's backfield, with Chris Brooks and Salvon Ahmed also candidates to mix in. Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson (ribs) could come off injured reserve as soon as Week 6 to work in a complementary role alongside Mostert.
Oct 10, 2023
Likely out multiple weeks
Achane (knee) is expected to miss multiple weeks due to an injury sustained in Miami's win over the Giants on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane's injury isn't believed to be season-ending, but it could sideline the electric rookie for a significant stretch. If the Dolphins end up placing him on IR, Achane will be forced to miss at least four games. The expected return of Jeff Wilson (ribs) to practice will at least do something to alleviate Achane's loss, but replacing the 2023 third-round pick -- who is averaging 151.7 rushing yards per game over the last three weeks -- will be easier said than done. Heading into the Dolphins' matchup against the Panthers in Week 6, and as long as Achane remains sidelined, Raheem Mostert looks like a must-start fantasy option.
Oct 9, 2023
Knee injury being evaluated
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Achane is being evaluated for a knee injury sustained during Sunday's win over the Giants, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane rushed 11 times for 151 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-16 win over the Giants, while also securing his only target for 14 yards, but he was forced off the field in the fourth quarter. If the electric rookie is forced to miss any time, Salvon Ahmed and/or Chris Brooks would have a chance to handle increased carries behind Raheem Mostert, who would stand to operate as the clear No. 1 option without Achane present. Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson (ribs) also appears slated to come off IR this week.
Oct 8, 2023
Strikes for big plays Sunday
Achane rushed 11 times for 151 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 14 yards in the Dolphins' 31-16 win over the Giants on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Achane's blazing speed once again manifested itself against a helpless opponent, with the rookie taking a pitch and exploding up the left side for a 76-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. While that play accounted for just over half of Achane's rushing yardage tally for the day, he also averaged 7.5 yards per carry on his other 10 totes, a testament to his elite efficiency. Achane now eclipsed the 100-yard mark in three consecutive games, gaining an astounding 455 yards and scoring five rushing touchdowns on just 37 carries over that span. Achane could very well keep adding to that torrid stretch in Week 6, as a highly vulnerable Panthers defense comes to South Florida for an interconference matchup.
Oct 1, 2023
Two more touchdowns in Week 4 loss
Achane rushed eight times for 101 yards and two touchdowns and brought in three of five targets for 19 yards in the Dolphins' 48-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The standout rookie scored his fifth and sixth touchdowns in the last two games via three- and 10-yard scoring runs in the first and second quarters, respectively. Achane finished with one more carry and the same amount of targets as lead back Raheem Mostert, but that could certainly also have been partly a byproduct of game script. Nevertheless, Achane was easily the more productive of the two backs, so the division of labor in the backfield will be one to watch in a Week 5 home matchup against the Giants.
Oct 1, 2023
Could get increased work
Achane is expected to receive an increased workload in Sunday's game against the Bills while the Dolphins attempt to use him more frequently, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schefter doesn't go into specifics regarding what exactly Achane's workload will look like or if starter Raheem Mostert will lose snaps as a result, but the two backs may operate in more of a timeshare Week 4 after the rookie turned in a breakout performance in his second NFL game in last Sunday's 70-20 win over the Broncos. Though Mostert turned in a strong effort in his own right with four touchdowns and 142 yards on 20 touches (13 carries, seven receptions), Achane outdid him with four scores of his own to go with 203 yards on 18 carries and 30 yards on four catches. Even if Achane doesn't unseat Mostert as Miami's lead back, the Texas A&M product has seemingly moved ahead of Salvon Ahmed on the depth chart. Ahmed, who had served as the Dolphins' No. 2 back in Weeks 1 and 2 before sitting out the Week 3 win with a groin injury, is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest.
Sep 24, 2023
Eclipses 200-yard mark in win
Achane rushed 18 times for 203 yards and two touchdowns and brought in all four targets for 30 yards and two more scores in the Dolphins' 70-20 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Tasked with No. 2 running back duties as a result of Salvon Ahmed's absence due to a groin injury, Achane ended up making the most of a larger-than-expected workload that helped bring about by helping the Dolphins jump out to an insurmountable lead. The explosive rookie scored via both the run and air in the first half, recording an eight-yard first-quarter touchdown rush before finding the end zone on a nifty shovel pass from Tua Tagovailoa from four yards out in the second quarter. Achane would tack on a second receiving score on a 10-yard grab on the first play of the fourth quarter, and he then helped vault the Dolphins to their record-setting point total with a 67-yard burst down the left side with just over eight minutes remaining. Achane's numbers Sunday were indisputably spectacular, but with veteran starter Raheem Mostert scoring four times himself and averaging over six yards per carry, it's highly likely the latter remains the top backfield option for the time being. Nevertheless, Achane's performa
Sep 21, 2023
Could be No. 2 back Week 3
Achane could serve as the top backup to starting running back Raheem Mostert in Sunday's game against the Broncos with Salvon Ahmed (groin) looking unlikely to play and with Jeff Wilson (ribs/finger) on injured reserve for at least two more games, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Week 1 while getting extra time to recover from a preseason shoulder injury, Achane made his NFL debut in the Dolphins' Week 2 win at New England. Though he handled only a limited role, Achane made the most of his five snaps on offense, carrying once for a five-yard gain and reeling in his lone target for a four-yard gain. Ahmed currently sits directly behind Mostert on the depth chart, but after missing practices Wednesday and Thursday, he appears to be trending toward sitting out this Sunday. An Ahmed absence would pave the way for Achane to step in as the No. 2 option out of the backfield, which would likely come with an increase in both snaps and touches even while Mostert continues to dominate the work.
Sep 20, 2023
Praised by coach, could play more
Achane could be in line to back up Raheem Mostert against the Broncos on Sunday, as Salvon Ahmed (groin) will miss at least the next two days of practice, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Jackson, coach Mike McDaniel said Achane "did well with his opportunities," adding that "you can tell the game is not too big for him." The 2023 third-round draft pick was limited to one carry and one target in his Week 2 NFL debut, but the speedy Achane could be in store for more touches in Week 3 if Ahmed joins Jeff Wilson (abdomen) on the sidelines.
Sep 18, 2023
Quiet pro debut
Achane (shoulder) had one carry for five yards and caught his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Achane was able to make his NFL debut after missing the Dolphins' first game due to a shoulder injury sustained in the preseason. The third-round rookie was used sparingly as starter Raheem Mostert carried the offense with 100-plus yards and two scores. Fellow backup Salvon Ahmed suffered a groin injury in Sunday's win, so Achane may see his role increase against the Broncos next Sunday.
Sep 17, 2023
Making NFL debut on SNF
Achane (shoulder) is active and will make his NFL debut Sunday against the Patriots, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane sat out Miami's Week 1 win over the Chargers, but the 2023 third-round pick is suiting up on SNF against the AFC East rival Patriots. Raheem Mostert -- who doesn't carry an injury designation after battling a knee injury earlier in the week -- is expected to lead Miami's backfield, but Achane's speed could allow him to find success in a change-of-pace role for an offense that remains without Jeff Wilson (abdomen).
Sep 15, 2023
Ready for NFL debut
Achane (shoulder) was a full participant in practices Wednesday through Friday and enters Sunday's game against the Patriots without an injury designation.
ANALYSIS
Achane also entered the Dolphins' Week 1 matchup with the Chargers without an injury designation, but he ended up being inactive for the contest while Miami elected to take a cautious approach with the rookie running back after he sustained a shoulder injury an Aug. 19 preseason game that had limited his practice time leading up to the season opener. Now that he's had a chance to get another full week of practice reps under his belt, Achane should make his NFL debut Sunday, though it's unclear how sizable of a role he might have behind Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed. With Achane in street clothes Week 1, Mostert played 72 percent of the offensive snaps and took on 12 touches in the Dolphins' 36-34 win over the Chargers, leaving little work left over for Ahmed (29 percent snap share, three touches).

Full participant in practice
Achane was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Achane was a full go in practice after sitting out the team's Week 1 win against the Chargers as a healthy scratch. With Raheem Mostert missing practice with a knee injury, the rookie third-round pick could be in line to make his NFL debut Sunday if Mostert is not at full health.

Inactive Sunday, as expected
Achane (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Reports emerged earlier Sunday that Achane was headed for healthy scratch status, and that is now official. Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed figure to handle the bulk, if not all, of the Dolphins' rushing work against the Chargers with Achane inactive. Meanwhile, the rookie third-round pick, who'd seemingly shed a preseason shoulder injury when he put in three full practices during Week 1 prep, will turn his attention to potentially making his NFL debut in Week 2 on the road against the division-rival Patriots.

Set for Week 1 inactive list
The Dolphins are expected to make Achane inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick out of Texas A&M doesn't approach the season opener with an injury designation after putting in full practices Wednesday through Friday, but the Dolphins will push back his NFL debut at least one week after Achane missed extensive time in the preseason after injuring his shoulder in an Aug. 19 exhibition against the Texans. With Achane on the sideline for Week 1, Salvon Ahmed should be locked in as the clear top backup to starting running back Raheem Mostert.

Starts as full participant
Achane (shoulder) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Adam H. Beasley of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane is practicing without limitations 18 days after being carted off to the locker room during a preseason game. It's nonetheless unclear if he'll have a significant role Sunday against New England, as Raheem Mostert is expected to start and veteran backup Salvon Ahmed (back) also managed full practice participation Wednesday.

Sheds non-contact jersey
Achane (shoulder) is practicing Monday without a red non-contact jersey, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane taking contact again represents a significant step forward in his recovery from a lingering shoulder injury. The rookie third-round pick will continue to do all he can to gain clearance for Sunday's game against the Chargers, as with Jeff Wilson (abdomen) on IR he would face significant opportunity if healthy. If Achane can't go Week 1, however, Salvon Ahmed (neck) could get a chance to work as the top backup to Raheem Mostert.

Returning to practice
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Achane (shoulder) is expected to participate in practice, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane will practice for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in preseason action Aug. 19. Even assuming the rookie third-round pick is limited in his return to the field Monday, that would represent a positive step in the right direction as he works to gain clearance for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Chargers. With Jeff Wilson (abdomen) on IR, Achane could get an opportunity to immediately operate as the No. 2 option behind starting running back Raheem Mostert, when healthy.

Should return to practice soon
Coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday that he expects Achane (shoulder) will return to practice "sooner rather than later," Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie has been a limited participant in a non-contact jersey this week, working his way back after suffering a shoulder injury Aug. 19 in Miami's second preseason game. With Jeff Wilson (abdomen) on IR and out for at least the first four games, the Dolphins have Achane, Salvon Ahmed (neck) and Chris Brooks as options to spell starting running back Raheem Mostert, who has played more than 11 games twice in eight seasons. Achane has a nice chance to earn snaps and touches once he gets his shoulder injury sorted out.

Practicing in non-contact jersey
Achane (shoulder) is taking part in practice Wednesday while sporting a red non-contact jersey, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The fact that Achane hasn't been cleared to take contact isn't ideal but at least puts the rookie a step ahead of Jeff Wilson (undisclosed) and Salvon Ahmed (head), both of whom missed Wednesday's practice entirely. All three still have a week and a half to get ready for the Dolphins' Sept. 10 season opener against the Chargers, though it's difficult to discern what the backfield roles will look like apart from Raheem Mostert serving as the starter. Achane, a third-round pick, was deemed week-to-week with a shoulder injury following his early exit from an Aug. 19 preseason game against Houston. Wilson has been out for even longer, since Aug. 9, while Ahmed's injury is much more recent.

Considered week-to-week
Coach Mike McDaniel noted Monday that Achane is week-to-week with shoulder injury, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
On the plus side, the report notes that Achane avoided a serious injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans after having a defensive lineman fall on him, but at this stage it appears safe to assume that the 2023 third-rounder won't play in this weekend's preseason finale against the Jaguars. Once Achane is ready to return to the mix, he'll have an opportunity to secure a role in a Miami backfield that also rosters Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. However, the level of Achane's early-season involvement clearly hinges on how quickly he's able to bounce back from his injury.

Injures shoulder Saturday
Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Achane sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins expect to find out more about the running back's injury Sunday, but at a minimum Achane's status for the team's preseason finale is unclear. Prior to his injury, the 2023 third-rounder logged six carries for 27 yards.

Carted off the field Saturday
Achane (undisclosed) was carted to the locker room during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to that, Achane had logged six carries for 27 yards. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, Achane left the field under his own power, but was clearly in pain, with what could be a possible shoulder issue.

Makes impact as receiver
Achane carried the ball 10 times for 25 yards and caught all four of his targets for 41 yards in Friday's preseason loss to the Falcons. He also gained 38 yards on one kickoff return.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 third-round pick flashed his elite speed and elusiveness on the opening kickoff, but Achane then had to watch veteran Myles Gaskin handle the lead role in the backfield into the second quarter. When he finally began to mix into the offense, Achane struggled on the ground, with his longest run going for only six yards, but he wound up leading Miami in catches and receiving yards. The Texas A&M product might not see much touch volume behind Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson (undisclosed) when the regular season begins, but he'll be a big-play threat whenever coach Mike McDaniel does find a way to get the ball into his hands.

Back at practice
Achane (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane missed a few days of practice due to an undisclosed injury sustained Saturday, but he's already back on the field in full uniform. The undersized rookie has made a handful of highlight plays in training camp already, so it will be interesting to see what he's able to accomplish in preseason action. His first chance could come as early as Friday's contest against Atlanta.

Day-to-day following injury
Head coach Mike McDaniel listed Achane as "day-to-day" after the running back didn't suit up for Saturday's practice due to an undisclosed injury, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has made an early impression with the Miami coaching staff even though the rookie third-round pick has yet to separate himself from veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson. An absolute speed merchant, Achane projects to see a limited workload immediately and could grow into a larger role in the event Mostert and/or Wilson struggle to create explosive plays with their combined touches.

Early offseason standout
Achane has impressed early throughout Miami's offseason activities, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane has stood out as one of the most explosive players in early offseason drills for the Dolphins, particularly in terms of pass-catching and his big-play ability. Of course, non-padded drills are exactly where the undersized speedster ought to dominate, but taking Achane's success with a grain of salt doesn't mean it should be ignored entirely. The rookie third-round pick is competing for touches in a crowded backfield, with veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson presumably holding the fort atop the depth chart, so it's encouraging to see him already gaining momentum. If Achane does manage to earn a significant role on offense, his 4.32-second 40-yard speed combined with coach Mike McDaniel's scheme could be a recipe high-upside fantasy production.

Speedy runner headed to Miami
The Dolphins selected Achane in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 84th overall.
ANALYSIS
Tyreek Hill is the fastest player in the NFL, but Achane is one of the few who might be able to keep up in a race. In the past, Achane has logged 100-meter times similar to what Hill used to run, and the Texas A&M product was reportedly not 100 percent healthy when he ran his 4.32-second 40 at the combine. Achane has workload limitations due to his tiny frame (5-foot-9, 188 pounds), but coach Mike McDaniel might be the brightest offensive play caller in the NFL, and it wouldn't be surprising if he cooks up something impressive with Achane as a big-play specialist.
