Six catches in loss
Smith recorded six receptions on 11 targets for 89 yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles in targets and also matched his season high. His longest catch of the day went for 41 yards, which came on an impressive catch deep down the right sideline as he was forced to adjust to an underthrown ball. Smith had a needed bounceback performance after struggling in Week 11, and he now has at least 65 receiving yards in four of his last five games while serving as Philadelphia's most consistent pass catcher.
Nov 17, 2025
Forgettable performance on SNF
Smith was held to eight yards on one reception (five targets) in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts made a concerted effort to feed disgruntled WR A.J. Brown (11 targets) the football in the win, leaving scraps for the remaining Philadelphia receivers in Sunday's low-scoring affair. Smith finished in a tie with Dallas Goedert for second in team targets, but the former's season-worst 20 percent catch rate was the main reason behind his struggles. Even with Sunday's dud, Smith still boasts an impressive 49-665-3 stat line in 10 starts this year. Continue starting the Alabama product with confidence in a plus matchup against Dallas next Sunday.
Nov 11, 2025
Game-high 69 yards plus TD
Smith finished with four receptions on seven targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 10-7 win over Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
In a game that featured three points scored through three quarters, Smith finally broke the silence with a 34-yard touchdown grab early in the fourth. Fellow star wideout A.J. Brown (hamstring) returned to action after fully healing over the bye week, but his 2-13-0 receiving line didn't affect Smith's hot streak. The latter is averaging 6.2 receptions and 99.8 yards over his last five appearances for the Eagles. Smith is looking like a WR1 heading into another primetime matchup in Week 11 when Philadelphia hosts Detroit.
Oct 26, 2025
Leading receiver in romp
Smith caught six of nine targets for 84 yards in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
With A.J. Brown (hamstring) sidelined, Smith led the Eagles in catches, targets and receiving yards, although he watched all four of Jalen Hurts' TD passes go to teammates. Philly gets a Week 9 bye so Brown may not miss any further action, but the bigger issue for the defending champions might be the groin injury Saquon Barkley picked up in Sunday's win. Even if Barkley is healthy when the Eagles head to Green Bay in Week 10, Smith still sports an impressive 44-588-2 line on 55 targets through eight games as part of a surging passing attack.
Oct 19, 2025
Career-best yardage in win
Smith secured nine of 11 targets for 183 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 28-22 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets with totals were also season-high figures for the talented receiver. The 2021 first-round pick's yardage tally was additionally a career high, and Smith got there with a big hand from his 79-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, his second score of the season. Jalen Hurts has been much more active as a passer over the last three games and Smith has been a beneficiary, posting a 21-346-1 line on 26 targets in that span. Smith will next take aim at the Giants' inconsistent defense in a Week 8 home matchup next Sunday afternoon.
Oct 10, 2025
Four catches in Week 6 loss
Smith secured four of five targets for 49 yards in the Eagles' 34-17 loss to the Giants on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith was third across the board to Dallas Goedert and A.J. Brown in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night, and his overall numbers represented a significant downturn from his season-best effort against the Broncos on Sunday. Smith recorded exactly half of the receptions and targets he had in that contest, while his yardage tally was a sharp decline from the 114 he managed versus Denver. Smith's first opportunity to bounce back will come against the Vikings in a Week 7 road matchup on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Oct 5, 2025
Stellar numbers in tough matchup
Smith secured eight of 10 targets for 114 yards in the Eagles' 21-17 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith shook off a highly undesirable matchup on paper to produce team-best totals in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, as well as a season-long 52-yard catch. The Eagles' unusual pass-centric approach Sunday certainly helped Smith's numbers, but even in lower-volume days for the air attack, Smith has been the more consistent producer between him and A.J. Brown by far through Philadelphia's first five games. Smith will take a 25-272-1 receiving line on 30 targets into a favorable Week 6 road matchup against the Giants on Thursday night.
Sep 28, 2025
Limited to two catches Sunday
Smith brought in both targets for 29 yards in the Eagles' 31-25 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith had the Eagles' second-longest gain through the air of the afternoon with a 20-yard reception, but his production suffered during what was another very quiet day for the air attack overall. The 2021 first-round pick has multiple receptions in every game thus far, but after clearing the 50-yard threshold in the previous two contests, Smith mustered his second-lowest yardage total of the campaign Sunday. The Alabama product could be hard-pressed to improve much on his relatively modest 17-158-1 line in Week 5, as the Broncos pay a visit to the defending champions.
Sep 21, 2025
Finds end zone in Week 3
Smith recorded eight receptions on nine targets for 60 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-26 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles were forced into a more aggressive offensive game plan after they fell behind by three scores early in the fourth quarter. Smith and A.J. Brown both benefited, with the former chipping in as a reliable target closer to the line of scrimmage. Smith also provided the game-winning touchdown on a four-yard out with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Smith's production will remain volatile, but he should have strong performances when the Eagles are forced to take to the air more often.
Sep 14, 2025
Leads team with 53 yards Sunday
Smith corralled four of six targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished as the Eagles' leading receiver in a game where the team threw for just 101 yards. It was a marked improvement from the veteran starter following last Thursday's three-catch, 16-yard stinker in a win over the Cowboys. Expect Smith and the entire Philadelphia passing attack to be more involved next Sunday lining up opposite the Rams' high-powered passing attack.
Sep 5, 2025
Limited to three catches in win
Smith secured all three targets for 16 yards in the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Cowboys on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
As Smith's line corroborates, it was a quiet night for the speedster to open the 2025 campaign. Smith finished behind both Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert in receptions on the night, while No. 3 receiver Jahan Dotson outgained him by 43 yards on the same number of catches. Nevertheless, there's no question more productive days are ahead for Smith, and a Week 2 road rematch with a Chiefs team he recorded 69 yards and a touchdown against in Super Bowl LIX in February may provide just the platform for Smith's first noteworthy performance of the new campaign.
Sep 1, 2025
Not on injury report
Smith (groin) doesn't appear on the Eagles' injury report in advance of Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
That's also the case with A.J. Brown (hamstring), so the Eagles will indeed have both wideouts available for Week 1 action. As the coming season approaches, Smith and Brown remain the team's clear-cut top two options at their position, with Jahan Dotson, John Metchie and Darius Cooper rounding out Philadelphia's WR corps.
Aug 28, 2025
Taking part in practice
Smith (groin) is practicing Thursday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith and A.J. Brown are both present at practice for a second consecutive day, as the star WR tandem continue to ramp things up ahead of the regular-season opener against Dallas on Thursday, Sept. 4. All indications remain that the Eagles expect both Smith and Brown to be available Week 1. A groin injury has hampered Smith's participation level since Aug. 19.
Aug 19, 2025
Dealing with injury
Smith is not practicing Tuesday due to a groin injury, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith is present at Tuesday's practice in street clothes, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia, but he and fellow star wideout A.J. Brown (hamstring) are not practicing. While neither Smith nor Brown appear to be dealing with any sort of issue that could threaten their Week 1 availability, the WR tandem figures to be held out of Friday's preseason finale against the Jets if at anything less than 100 percent health. Of course, it also remains to be seen whether Philadelphia's starters will be given the green light to suit up versus New York.
Aug 3, 2025
Returns to practice Sunday
Smith (back) is practicing Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athleticreports.
ANALYSIS
Smith had been out of practice since Monday while dealing with a tight back, though by the end of the week he was able to run with trainers and warm up with teammates. It appears the star wideout is now feeling well enough to return to practice, though it's not clear if he'll be limited at all. Regardless, there doesn't appear to be any reason for concern about his availability for the start of the regular season.
Aug 1, 2025
Nearing return to practice?
Smith (back) is missing a fourth straight practice Friday, but he's progressed to warming up with teammates and running with trainers, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He first missed practice Monday, with reports attributing it to back soreness or a back contusion. It sounds like Smith will be back in practice soon enough, occupy his usual role as the No. 2 receiver in Philadelphias's narrowly concentrated offense.
Jul 28, 2025
Dealing with back tightness
Smith will miss Monday's practice with back tightness, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the first report of any health/availability issue for Smith this year. Including playoffs, he's played 72 of Philadelphia's 77 games since they drafted him in 2021, with a pair of Week 18 rest absences and three games missed due to injuries (all last season). Smith likely will be back at practice before long.
Feb 9, 2025
Comes up big in SB win
Smith brought in four of five targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 40-22 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith had enjoyed his fair share of success against Steve Spagnuolo's Chiefs defenses in the previous two meetings, including the Eagles' narrow Super Bowl LVII loss to Kansas City two years prior when he'd recorded seven receptions for 100 yards. Therefore, Smith's team-leading yardage total Sunday wasn't exactly a surprise, and he got to that number with a back-breaking 46-yard touchdown grab on a perfectly thrown ball by Jalen Hurts late in the third quarter. Smith was particularly consistent down the stretch of the regular season and throughout the postseason, posting a combined 39-470-4 line on 44 targets from Week 15 on. Smith enters the second season of a $75 million extension in 2025, so he'll once again project as a key component of the offense as the Eagles look to win back-to-back titles.
Feb 6, 2025
Another limited practice
Smith (hamstring) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the first week of Super Bowl prep due to a hamstring injury, Smith now has logged back-to-back capped sessions to begin this week, giving him only one more chance to get back to full participation or else risk entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not that comes to pass.
Feb 5, 2025
Officially limited Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) was limited at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Smith was held out of all drills last week due to a hamstring injury, after which he didn't receive a game designation on last Friday's practice report for Super Bowl LIX. With some activity under his belt to begin this week, he appears to be ramping up his activity level in advance Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but it remains to be seen if the Eagles tag him with a designation this time around.
Jan 31, 2025
In clear after first week of SB prep
Smith (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
After the first week of preparation for the upcoming Super Bowl, Smith hasn't participated in any drills due to a hamstring injury, but the issue currently won't be a hindrance more than a week out from the big game. Nonetheless, he may endure practice restrictions next week once the Eagles arrive in New Orleans, so his status bears watching over the next nine days.
Jan 30, 2025
No practice Thursday
Smith (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles estimated Smith as a DNP on their first injury report of Super Bowl prep due to a hamstring issue, but he still will have four more chances to get back on the field and prove his health ahead of the team's matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 9. In three playoff games so far, he's tallied exactly four catches on each occasion on his way to a 12-121-0 line on 12 targets.
Jan 29, 2025
'DNP' on practice estimate
Smith (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles didn't hold a practice Wednesday, but evidently Smith is dealing with a hamstring issue in the wake of the team's 55-23 win over the Commanders in this past Sunday's NFC Championship Game. In that contest, Smith recorded an 83 percent snap share alongside fellow starting WR A.J. Brown, en route to catching all four of his targets for 45 yards. While Smith's status is worth monitoring based on his inclusion on Wednesday's estimated practice report, he does have added healing time, given that Philadelphia doesn't face Kansas City in the Super Bowl until Feb. 9.
Jan 26, 2025
Four catches in NFCCG win
Smith caught all four of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 55-23 win over the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Smith drew a pass interference penalty in the end zone late in the first half to set up a one-yard Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown on the next play. Besides that, Smith didn't make much of an impact as the Eagles scored seven rushing touchdowns and Hurts directed 16 of his 28 passes to either A.J. Brown or Dallas Goedert. Smith has just 66 receiving yards across his last two games heading into Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Feb. 9 after recording at least 55 receiving yards in five of six career playoff games prior to this two-game personal downturn.
Jan 19, 2025
Four grabs against Rams
Smith caught all four of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 28-22 divisional-round win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
While it wasn't much, the production led all the Eagles' wide receivers on the day, as the team's offense continues to be carried on Saquon Barkley's shoulders. Smith has managed an 8-76-0 line on eight targets over Philly's two playoff games despite the limited volume available, and he might find more success in the NFC Divisional Round Game against a Commanders secondary that had its issues during the regular season.
Jan 12, 2025
Leading receiver in wild-card win
Smith caught all four of his targets for 55 yards in Sunday's 22-10 wild-card round win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles' passing game had a fairly quiet afternoon and Smith led the team in receiving yards, although he wasn't on the other end of either of Jalen Hurts' TD passes. The fourth-year wideout has caught at least four passes in six straight appearances dating back to Week 11, posting a 35-401-4 line on 43 targets over that stretch, giving Smith plenty of momentum heading into the divisional round.
Jan 10, 2025
Cleared to play Sunday
Smith (back/rest) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles held Smith out of practice Friday after previously not listing him on their injury reports this week, but it seems there's no real concern about tightness in his back. He'll likely be fine to handle his usual, near-every-down role come Sunday afternoon.
Jan 10, 2025
Bothered by back tightness Friday
Smith missed Friday's practice due to back tightness but is still expected to play Sunday against Green Bay, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if the end-of-week problem is serious enough to warrant a game designation on Philadelphia's final injury report Friday afternoon. Smith wasn't listed Wednesday or Thursday, and this if the first report of a back injury all season.
Jan 8, 2025
Sidesteps injury report
Smith (wrist/rest) wasn't listed on the Eagles' first injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's wild-card game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
With the Eagles locked into the No. 2 seed in the NFC, they rested a number of starters in a Week 18 matchup with the Giants, but in advance of that contest, Smith didn't practice at all due to a wrist issue and rest. Now that he's avoided the practice report entirely to begin this week, he's good to go after a one-game absence. The biggest question mark for Philadelphia's playoff opener is who will be under center. Both Jalen Hurts (concussion/left finger) and Kenny Pickett (ribs) were limited Wednesday, so the situation bears watching in the coming days.
Jan 5, 2025
Sitting out Week 18
Smith (wrist/rest) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Though he was listed as doubtful with the wrist injury before being included on the Eagles' 11-player inactive list, Smith's absence is likely rest-related more than anything. The Eagles are locked into the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs and won't expose Smith to an injury in a meaningless regular-season finale. Smith should be ready to play a full complement of snaps in the Eagles' wild-card game against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
Jan 3, 2025
Unlikely to play
Smith (rest/wrist) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles have a slew of starters listed as either out or doubtful. There's been no indication that Smith's wrist injury is a concern for the playoffs.
Jan 2, 2025
Tending to wrist injury
Smith (wrist/rest) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Smith has kicked off Week 18 prep with back-to-back DNPs due to wrist and rest, but even if those absences are related to maintenance, he likely is among the list of Philadelphia starters that aren't expected to play Sunday against the Giants along with QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) and RB Saquon Barkley. The Eagles could make a ruling on Smith's availability for their regular-season finale as soon as they post their final injury report of the week Friday.
Dec 29, 2024
Two TD grabs sans Hurts
Smith brought in six of seven targets for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' 41-7 win over the Cowboys on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon despite working with Kenny Pickett (ribs) and Tanner McKee as his quarterbacks. Smith caught a touchdown from each, recording a 22-yard scoring grab in the second quarter from Pickett and a 25-yarder from McKee to close out the scoring in the final period. Smith, who now has a career-high eight TD catches, will have one more chance to tune up for the postseason in Week 18 against the Giants, but it remains to be seen how much playing time Philadelphia's starters outside of Saquon Barkley, who'll be chasing the all-time rushing yardage record, will play.
Dec 22, 2024
Six receptions in Sunday's loss
Smith caught six of eight targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 36-33 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts (concussion) was knocked out of the game early, and backup QB Kenny Pickett (ribs) focused most of his attention on A.J. Brown, who came away with an 8-97-1 line on 15 targets. Smith posted modest numbers on decent volume, but Kenneth Gainwell has the only other reception for the Eagles on the day aside from the top two wideouts. Pickett was also injured late in the game, which means Philly could be facing the prospect of having Tanner McKee -- a 2023 sixth-round pick who has yet to attempt a pass in the NFL -- under center in Week 17 against Dallas. If that happens, the ceiling for Smith and the rest of the offense would be severely compromised.
Dec 15, 2024
First 100-yard performance
Smith recorded 11 receptions on 12 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles' strong showing through the air, pacing the team in targets and receptions. He tallied long gains of 22 and 20 yards to surpass 100 yards for the first time on the campaign. Smith also hauled in a two-yard touchdown reception early in the second quarter, his second score in as many games since returning from a hamstring injury. His opportunities are often relatively limited -- this marked the first time he's topped seven targets since Week 3 -- which has caused inconsistent production, though Smith showcased his fantasy potential with this performance.
Dec 8, 2024
Hauls in TD in return
Smith caught four of six targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
While his yardage was modest in his return from a two-game absence due to a hamstring strain, Smith connected with Jalen Hurts for a four-yard score just before halftime. It's Smith's first TD since Week 9, and he also hasn't reached 40 receiving yards in any of his three appearances during that stretch. He'll try to build on Sunday's effort in Week 15 against the Steelers.
Dec 5, 2024
Full practice Thursday
Smith (hamstring) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles held a walkthrough Wednesday, so Smith's listing of full was merely an estimate. With an uncapped practice now under his belt this week, he's set to put an end to a two-game absence due to a hamstring injury. On Sunday, Smith will be taking on a Panthers defense that has given up a 25-287-2 line on 39 targets to opposing wide receivers over the last two contests.
Dec 4, 2024
Gets back to full Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) was a full participant at Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Smith logged his first uncapped session of any type due to a lingering hamstring injury that sidelined him for the Eagles' past two games. He thus is poised to return to action Sunday against the Panthers, and he could be in line for an elevated role with TE Dallas Goedert week-to-week due to a knee issue. In nine appearances this season, Smith has compiled a 38-441-2 line on 46 targets.
Dec 4, 2024
Spotted at practice Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Swift has missed back-to-back contests due to a hamstring injury, though he reportedly made a push to suit up for Philadelphia's 24-19 win at Baltimore in Week 13. With Dallas Goedert (knee) looking likely to miss Sunday's game against the Panthers, though, and potentially more time, Swift's availability has become increasingly key for the Eagles' offense. Wednesday's official injury report will reveal whether Swift was able to log more than 'limited' activity at practice Wednesday.
Dec 1, 2024
Another absence in Week 13
Smith (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Smith mustered a pair of limited practices to end Week 13 prep, after which he told EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer that he was unsure if he'd be able to return to action Sunday. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network then reported late Saturday that there wasn't much optimism regarding the wide receiver's potential to play this weekend, and Smith's status ultimately came down to a pregame workout, per Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer. With his lack of availability now confirmed along with Johnny Wilson (hamstring), Smith will cede WR reps to the likes of Jahan Dotson, Ainias Smith, Britain Covey and Parris Campbell behind top option A.J. Brown.
Dec 1, 2024
Pushing to play Sunday
Smith (hamstring) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens and is viewed as a game-time call, with a decision on his status likely to come down to the pregame workout, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported late Saturday that the Eagles didn't have much optimism that Smith would be ready to play Sunday, the receiver seems to be pushing to suit up in Week 13. The Eagles will wait and see how Smith feels coming out of the workout before providing official word on whether he'll play around 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, when the team be required to submit its inactive list.
Nov 30, 2024
Pessimism around Week 13 status
Smith (hamstring), who is questionable for Sunday's matchup versus Baltimore, may go through a pregame workout Sunday to see if he can play, but "there is not a lot of optimism" that he'll be able suit up, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith ended the week with a pair of limited practices after sitting out entirely Wednesday, but he admitted Friday that he wasn't certain if he'd be able to play Sunday. The wideout missed last week's win over the Rams due to the hamstring issue, and Rapoport's report makes it seem more likely than not that Smith will be sidelined again for Week 13. While Rapoport adds that "there just isn't a ton of positivity" around Smith's status, he does state that Philadelphia is leaving that possibility open, so fantasy managers who roster the receiver would be wise to keep an eye out for the Eagles' inactive list, which should drop around 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff.
Nov 29, 2024
Listed as questionable
Smith (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The designation comes as no surprise after Smith said earlier Friday that he wasn't sure if he'd play. He returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant and was limited again Friday, after not practicing at all (nor playing) the previous week. Smith's availability may come down to a game-time decision ahead of a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Nov 29, 2024
Unsure if he'll play
Smith (hamstring) said Friday that he's not sure if he'll play Sunday at Baltimore, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith said the final decision won't be his, adding that he isn't sure what he'd decide if it were up to him. A 'questionable' designation seems likely, potentially setting up a game-time decision ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff in Baltimore this Sunday.
Nov 29, 2024
Taking part in Friday's practice
Smith (hamstring) is participating in practice Friday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith returned to limited practice participation Thursday after sitting out Wednesday following his absence from Philadelphia's 37-20 Week 12 win over the Rams. Smith could avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Ravens if he practices Friday without limitations, but it's more likely he'll be listed questionable when the Eagles publish their final injury report.
Nov 28, 2024
Upgrades to limited Thursday
Smith (hamstring) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
This marks Smith's first listing that isn't DNP since a Week 11 win against the Commanders due to a hamstring issue, potentially putting himself on a path to return to action Sunday at Baltimore. Ultimately, Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he in fact has a chance to do so.
Nov 27, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) was held out of Wednesday's practice, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith hasn't logged any on-field work since playing 89 percent of snaps during a Week 11 win against the Commanders in which he hauled in four of six targets for 29 yards. So far, he's missed one game as a result of a hamstring injury, and his lack of activity to begin Week 13 prep isn't a great sign as the Eagles ramp up for Sunday's road showdown with the Ravens. Smith's listing on Eagles practice reports Thursday and Friday will be more revealing toward his chances to return to action this weekend.
Nov 22, 2024
Ruled out for Sunday night
Smith (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith took 89 percent of snaps on offense in a 26-18 win over Washington this past Sunday, but he didn't practice at all this week and now is confirmed to be missing at least one game. His absence could push even more targets to WR A.J. Brown, TE Dallas Goedert and RB Saquon Barkley, as the leading candidates to take Smith's WR snaps (Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson) both have been targeted on less than 11 percent of their routes this year. Smith's next chance to play will come seven days later, Dec. 1 at Baltimore in a battle between Mid-Atlantic heavyweights.
Nov 22, 2024
Missing practice again
Smith (hamstring) isn't practicing Friday and appears in serious danger of missing Sunday's game at the Rams, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith hasn't practiced all week, and it remains to be seen if he's listed as questionable, doubtful or out on Philadelphia's final injury report. A 'questionable' designation would create a tricky situation for a lot of fantasy managers with the Eagles and Rams playing Sunday night.
Nov 21, 2024
No practice Thursday
Smith (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks Smith's second absence in a row to begin Week 12 prep as he tends to a hamstring injury for a third consecutive week. He thus has just one more chance to get on the practice field Friday before the Eagles potentially make a ruling on his availability for Sunday night's game at the Rams.
Nov 20, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury for a third straight week, but he was able to suit up for the previous two games, combining for six catches (on nine targets) for 43 yards in wins against the Cowboys and Commanders. As such, he likely isn't is danger of missing Sunday's contest at the Rams, but his status nonetheless will be monitored in the coming days to ensure he'll be out there this weekend.
Nov 15, 2024
Quiet night in Week 11 win
Smith secured four of six targets for 29 yards in the Eagles' 26-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished fourth on the Eagles in receiving yards despite slotting in second in both receptions and targets. The speedster has now been under 30 yards in back-to-back games for the first time this season, and he's still in search of his first 100-yard effort of the campaign. Smith's next opportunity to reach that milestone comes in a Week 12 road matchup against the Rams on Sunday night, Nov. 24.
Nov 13, 2024
Clear for Week 11
Smith (hamstring) was limited at Wednesday's practice but doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Smith was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate due to a hamstring issue and then was limited at Tuesday's walkthrough. Despite another capped session Wednesday, he's good to go for Week 11 action versus a Washington defense that has allowed the 10th-most YPT (8.18) and third-most receiving touchdowns (12) to opposing wide receivers in 10 contests this season.
Nov 12, 2024
Limited in Tuesday's practice
The Eagles listed Smith (hamstring) as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report.
ANALYSIS
After being deemed a non-participant on the Eagles' initial Week 11 injury report that was issued Monday, Smith took a step forward in activity Tuesday, though Philadelphia merely held a walk-through session. So long as Smith practices again in some capacity Wednesday, he should be in good shape to play Thursday against the Commanders.
Nov 11, 2024
Estimated as non-practice participant
Smith (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Smith didn't practice last Wednesday due to a hamstring issue before being limited Thursday and then practicing fully Friday and approaching Sunday's game against the Cowboys without a Week 10 injury designation. With no reported setbacks in the Eagles' subsequent 34-6 win, during which Smith recorded a 72 percent snap share, it's quite possible that the wideout's estimated absence Monday is indicative of load management as opposed to any concern regarding his availability for Thursday night's game against the Commanders. Look for added context on that front to arrive as Tuesday's practice unfolds.
Nov 11, 2024
Quiet game in lopsided win
Smith was limited to two receptions (three targets) for 14 yards in Sunday's 34-6 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Smith took a backseat to star wideout A.J. Brown (5-109-0) in a game that saw the Eagles lead from start to finish. The 25-year-old Smith was coming off of a pair of 85+ yard performances with touchdowns in each, so fantasy managers shouldn't be discouraged by Sunday's negative game script. Expect Smith to be more involved in an important NFC East matchup against the Commanders on Thursday Night Football in Week 11.
Nov 8, 2024
No injury designation
Smith (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Smith closed out the week with a full practice and said afterward that he'd be fine to play this Sunday. The final injury report confirms his optimism, giving QB Jalen Hurts all his key pass catchers with A.J. Brown having quickly recovered from a knee injury and TE Dallas Goedert now back from his hamstring injury.
Nov 8, 2024
Says he'll play
Smith (hamstring) said Friday that he'll play in Sunday's game at Dallas, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was a limited practice participant Thursday, after being listed as a non-participant for Wednesday's walkthrough. He doesn't seem worried about missing the game this Sunday, but it remains to be seen if the Eagles give him an injury designation.
Nov 7, 2024
Returns in limited fashion
Smith (hamstring) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith didn't take part in Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury, so his return to drills, albeit capped, is a step in the right direction. He'll have one more session in which to return to full participation this week, something that fellow WR A.J. Brown (knee) was able to do Thursday. As a result, Friday's practice report may be telling for Smith's outlook for Sunday's visit to the Cowboys.
Nov 7, 2024
Seen at Thursday's practice
Smith (hamstring) was present at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was absent from Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury, but his return to the field one day later generally is a step in the right direction. Thursday's practice report will reveal the activity levels of both Smith and fellow WR A.J. Brown (knee).
Nov 6, 2024
DNP due to hamstring issue
Smith was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
The top of the Eagles' receiving corps has health concerns, with Smith joining A.J. Brown (limited, knee) on the team's first Week 10 practice report. Smith's issue wasn't known prior to Wednesday, while Brown emerged as day-to-day from this past Sunday's win versus the Jaguars. The pair will have two more chances to prove their respective levels of health before Sunday's game at Dallas.
Nov 3, 2024
Leading receiver Sunday
Smith caught four of six targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished as the Eagles' leading receiver following A.J. Brown's (knee) departure in Sunday's win. The 25-year-old Smith was already coming off of a strong fantasy performance prior to his teammate's injury. With Brown's status for next Sunday's tilt against Dallas uncertain, Smith continues to be an excellent fantasy play heading into Week 10.
Oct 27, 2024
Bounces back with long TD
Smith brought in six of seven targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 37-17 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of a one-catch Week 7 in which he netted minus-2 receiving yards, Smith obviously had nowhere to go but up Sunday and made good use of his opportunities. The fourth-year speedster finished as the team leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets, with a picturesque over-the-shoulder 45-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter largely responsible for his successful afternoon. Smith's receiving yardage total was also a season high, and he's now been over 75 receiving yards in four of six games heading into a favorable Week 9 home matchup against a beatable Jaguars secondary.
Oct 20, 2024
Not needed in Week 7 rout
Smith caught one of two targets for minus-2 yards in Sunday's 28-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
With the Eagles in control almost from the opening kickoff, Jalen Hurts wound up attempting only 14 passes in total on the afternoon, and A.J. Brown was the only receiver to do any damage with a 5-89-1 line on five targets. Smith's disappointing showing could be erased quickly though, and he figures to see much higher volume in a potential Week 8 barn burner against the high-powered Bengals.
Oct 13, 2024
Finds end zone in return
Smith caught three of four targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't see much volume in his return from a one-game absence due to a concussion, Smith made an impact with a 45-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for the Eagles. The fourth-year wideout has a 24-303-2 line on 32 targets through four contests this season, and he could find pay dirt again in Week 7 versus a Giants team he's had plenty of success against in the past -- in his last five meetings with Philly's NFC East rivals, he has four touchdowns.
Oct 11, 2024
Cleared to play Week 6
Smith cleared the NFL's concussion protocol Friday, Zach Berman of PHLY reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith has been practicing without limitations coming out of Philadelphia's Week 5 bye, and he has gained clearance from an independent neurologist to suit up, which is the final hurdle he needed to clear in order to play Sunday against the Browns. The star receiver will thus make his return from a concussion suffered in Week 3 against the Saints, and the Eagles will also be welcoming back A.J. Brown (hamstring).
Oct 10, 2024
Another full practice Thursday
Smith (concussion) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith continues to practice without limitations this week, which marked his first stretch of on-field work since he sustained a concussion Week 3 at New Orleans. In the meantime, he sat out Week 4 in Tampa Bay and then used the Eagles' Week 5 bye to complete most of the protocol for head injuries. On Wednesday, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported that Smith was in the final phase of the protocol, meaning the wide receiver only needs to gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to return for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Oct 9, 2024
No limitations in practice
Smith (concussion) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports that Smith is in the final stage of concussion protocol, one step away from gaining clearance to play in games. That'll likely happen by the end of the week, before the Eagles host the Browns this Sunday.
Oct 9, 2024
Set to practice Wednesday
Smith (concussion) is in line to practice Wednesday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
With the benefit of the Eagles' Week 5 bye, Smith will look to keep his absence to only one game as a result of the concussion that he sustained during a Week 3 win at New Orleans. Wednesday's practice report will reveal how much work he was able to handle along with fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring), who hasn't played since Week 1.
Sep 27, 2024
Ruled out for Week 4
Smith (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Smith took a hard hit in the fourth quarter of last week's win over the Saints and hasn't practiced since. He has a good chance to avoid multiple game absences, as the Eagles are on bye Week 5 before hosting the Browns in Week 6 (Sun., Oct. 13).
Sep 27, 2024
Not practicing
Smith (concussion) isn't practicing Friday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
A third consecutive missed practice makes Smith unlikely to play this Sunday at Tampa Bay. He entered concussion protocol after taking a hard hit in the Week 3 win over New Orleans.
Sep 26, 2024
Still not practicing Thursday
Smith (concussion) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Smith and fellow WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) haven't logged any on-field work so far this week, leaving both trending in the wrong direction ahead of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. Friday's injury report could clear up any questions about Smith heading into the weekend, and if he sits out due to the concussion that he suffered this past Sunday in New Orleans, the Eagles' receiving corps would be thinned out, especially if Brown also is inactive. With Britain Covey (shoulder) going on IR earlier this week, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and practice-squad members Parris Campbell, Danny Gray, Kyle Philips, John Ross and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint would be the candidates to fill in at wide receiver for the Eagles in Week 4.
Sep 26, 2024
Not seen on field Thursday
Smith (concussion) wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith sustained a concussion during this past Sunday's win at New Orleans, adding to an already banged-up receiving corps headlined by A.J. Brown (hamstring), who has missed the last two games. Meanwhile, Britain Covey (shoulder), Ainias Smith (ankle) and Jacob Harris (concussion) are on injured reserve. If both Smith and Brown go down as non-participants for a second consecutive day, they'll have just one more chance to mix into drills this week, which wouldn't be a great sign for Smith as he makes his way through the protocol for head injuries.
Sep 25, 2024
Sits out Wednesday's practice
Smith (concussion) is not participating in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith's progression through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol isn't yet far enough along for him to resume practicing in any capacity. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) also not practicing Wednesday, it's possible Philadelphia's top two wideouts could both be unavailable for Sunday's road matchup against the Buccaneers. The Eagles will benefit from a Week 5 bye after taking on Tampa Bay, which could lead the team to take a more cautious approach to player's recoveries, due to the extra week of rest coming up. In any case, Smith will need to gain full medical clearance before being eligible to return to game action. Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and practice squad player Parris Campbell will have to lead Philadelphia's wide receiver room if Smith and Brown are unable to go Week 4.
Sep 22, 2024
Concussion confirmed Sunday
Smith won't return to Sunday's game in New Orleans due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Smith got a concussion check after he stayed on the turf for some time at the end of a five-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. Now that a head injury has been confirmed for Smith, he'll check out of Week 3 with seven catches (on 10 targets) for 79 yards. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) inactive and Britain Covey (shoulder) ruled out of Sunday's contest, the Eagles' receiving corps has been whittled down to Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and Parris Campbell.
Sep 22, 2024
Getting concussion check
Smith is under evaluation for a head injury during Sunday's game at New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Smith remained on the turf for a spell at the end of a five-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. If he ends up entering the concussion protocol, he'll be the second Eagles wide receiver to join A.J. Brown (hamstring) as out after Britain Covey sustained a shoulder injury earlier Sunday. For the time being, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and Parris Campbell are the healthy options at the position available to QB Jalen Hurts.
Sep 17, 2024
Hits pay dirt on MNF
Smith recorded seven catches (10 targets) for 76 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 22-21 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished as the Eagles' leading receiver after fellow starter A.J. Brown (hamstring) was ruled out prior to Monday's narrow defeat. The latter is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in last week's win over the Packers, opening up a prime window for Smith to shine as the No. 1 option in Philadelphia. His first opportunity will come in a road matchup against the Saints on Sunday.
Sep 15, 2024
Set for No. 1 role in Week 2
Smith is expected to serve as the top option in the passing game for quarterback Jalen Hurts in Monday's game against the Falcons with A.J. Brown (hamstring) ruled out for the contest, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though No. 3 wideout Jahan Dotson should benefit the most in terms of an increase in snaps while Brown is out Monday, Smith could have a good chance at clearing double-digit targets in the absence of the three-time Pro Bowler. Since joining the Eagles ahead of the 2022 season, Brown has yet to miss a game, so Monday will mark the first time that Smith has had a chance to serve as Philadelphia's clear No. 1 receiver since his 2021 rookie campaign.
Sep 7, 2024
Efficient in overseas victory
Smith brought in seven of his eight targets for 84 yards in Friday's 34-29 win over Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Friday's tilt at Corinthians Arena in Brazil featured multiple strong fantasy scores for both sides after 63 points were put on the board. Smith finished with Philadelphia's fourth-highest score for fantasy purposes after all seven of his receptions failed to cross the goal line. The 25-year-old wideout hasn't eclipsed seven touchdowns in any of his three seasons as a pro, but he has proven to be a reliable target opposite A.J. Brown (5/119/1) that fantasy managers can rely on for consistent production, especially for those in PPR formats. Smith will look for that first score of the season in a home matchup against the Falcons in Week 2.
Aug 15, 2024
Yet to play in preseason
Smith didn't play in Thursday's 14-13 preseason win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Smith has yet to appear in the 2024 preseason, which is also the case for Philadelphia's other key skill players. After signing a three-year, $75 million extension in April, Smith will look to build on a strong first three NFL regular seasons, in which he averaged 1,059 receiving yards and 6.3 TDs per year. If Smith plays in the preseason finale against the Vikings on Aug. 24, it likely won't be for more than a few drives.
Apr 15, 2024
Signing three-year extension
Smith agreed to terms Monday to a three-year, $75 million extension with the Eagles, Ian Rapaport of NFL Network reports
ANALYSIS
Smith's extension reportedly includes $51 million guaranteed, though the exact terms remain to be disclosed. That keeps the young wideout linked to Philly through the 2028 season, with Zach Bergman of The Athletic reporting that the team is additionally exercising Smith's fifth-year option. He remains in a plus fantasy situation alongside A.J. Brown as one of the go-to passing options for quarterback Jalen Hurts, alongside tight end Dallas Goedert and new running back Saquon Barkley.
Feb 28, 2024
Not worried about extension
Smith suggested Feb. 8 that he isn't too worried about a contact extension, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "It's all in God's hands," Smith said. "At the end of the day, extension or not, I'm going to have to come in and do what I have to do.
ANALYSIS
While eligible for a contract extension following his third pro season, Smith is almost certain to end up under team control through 2025 via the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. The Eagles will need to make it official by May 2, the deadline for 2021 first-round picks to receive said option. In Smith's case it'll be a fully guaranteed $15.59 million, which is well below what he'd receive on the open market. A holdout would be more likely in 2025 than 2024, though it isn't entirely impossible if he's frustrated with extension talks this spring/summer.
Jan 16, 2024
Commands 12 targets in WC loss
Smith (ankle) hauled in eight of his 12 targets for 148 yards in Monday's 32-9 wild-card round loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was able to return to the field after missing the last game of the regular season with an ankle injury. Fellow star wideout A.J. Brown (knee) was not as fortunate, missing the Eagles' playoff game entirely after injuring his knee in the last game of the regular season. Smith took advantage of the situation and gobbled up over a third of Jalen Hurts' 35 pass attempts Monday. The end result was a massive individual effort from Smith in a one-sided affair. The 25-year-old finished the regular season recording his second 1,000-yard campaign in as many years. Smith's best work may be ahead of him in 2024 as he prepares to enter the final year of his rookie contract with Philadelphia.
Jan 11, 2024
Puts in full practice Thursday
Smith (ankle) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith sprained his right ankle near the end of the Eagles' Week 17 loss to the Cardinals, which didn't allow him to practice during Week 18 prep or play this past Sunday at the Giants. As the Eagles reconvened Thursday, he relayed to Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia that he'll "be there" for Monday's wild-card contest at Tampa Bay and added, "Count me in." Per Shorr-Parks, Smith then was spotted on the practice field without any sort of wrap on his ankle and eventually put together an uncapped session. Meanwhile, A.J. Brown didn't take part in drills due to the knee injury that he suffered in the regular-season finale, so Smith could be in line for more targets if the former is inhibited or sidelined in Philadelphia's playoff opener.
Jan 11, 2024
Practicing Thursday
Smith (ankle) took part in Thursday's practice, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the session, Smith told Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia regarding Monday's wild-card contest at Tampa Bay, "I'll be there. Count me in." After spraining his right ankle Week 17 against the Cardinals, Smith didn't practice last Wednesday through Friday before sitting out this past Sunday at the Giants. With some on-field work to kick off this week, he appears to be trending in the right direction as the Eagles prepare for their playoff opener.
Jan 5, 2024
Out this week
Smith (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at the Giants, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith came out of the Week 17 loss to Arizona with an ankle injury and now will miss a game for the first time in his career. He didn't practice this week, and the Eagles didn't have much incentive to push him with their Week 18 result only mattering for playoff position if the Commanders upset the Cowboys while playing at the same time (4:25 p.m. ET kickoff). Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia "guessed" Friday that the Eagles will play their healthy starters, or at least most of them, but there is some chance of key guys being replaced if Dallas builds a comfortable lead over Washington in the other NFC East game.
Jan 5, 2024
Not at practice
Smith (ankle) isn't practicing Friday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith has missed three straight practices and is in danger of being inactive for the first time in his NFL career when the Eagles play at New York on Sunday. The game can only impact Philadelphia's playoff seed if the Cowboys lose to Washington, and both NFC games will be played at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Jan 4, 2024
Still sidelined at practice
Smith (ankle) officially didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith so far has missed Wednesday's walkthrough and Thursday's practice this week, giving him one more opportunity to mix into drills ahead of Sunday's game at the Giants. An ankle injury forced him to depart in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Cardinals and also require a walking boot and crutches afterward. As noted by Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Smith hasn't missed a contest in his three-year career, so his availability this weekend may come down to a game-time call.
Jan 4, 2024
Not seen at practice Thursday
Smith (ankle) wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from not taking part in Wednesday's walkthrough, Smith appears as if he'll log a second consecutive absence, which will be confirmed when the Eagles post their second injury report of Week 18 prep later Thursday. He's tending to a right ankle sprain that forced him to use crutches and wear a walking boot after this past Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, clouding his availability for Sunday's regular-season finale at the Giants.
Jan 3, 2024
Misses walkthrough Wednesday
Smith (ankle) didn't take part in Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Smith got rolled up on in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Cardinals when he served as a lead blocker on a screen pass to Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell. Afterward, Smith was seen with a walking boot on his right foot while using crutches, which continued into Monday. It's thus no surprise that he's focusing on rehab versus practice to kick off Week 18 prep, especially with two more opportunities to mix into drills to come. The Eagles still have a chance to win the NFC East, so Smith likely will do everything in his power to be available Sunday at the Giants.
Jan 1, 2024
Still on crutches
Smith (ankle) was on crutches and wearing a walking boot Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
An earlier report Monday stated that Smith is dealing with only a mild ankle sprain, but the fact that he's still using crutches and a walking boot may suggest otherwise. Head coach Nick Sirianni said "We'll see" in response to a question about the wideout's availability to suit up Sunday against the Giants, so there is clearly some uncertainty about Smith's status for that contest. The Eagles can still win the NFC East with a Week 18 win and some help, so Smith will likely be on the field for the matchup if he's physically capable of playing.
Jan 1, 2024
Injury seemingly not serious
Smith "is believed to be dealing with a mild ankle sprain," Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was spotted using both crutches and a walking boot after injuring his foot Sunday, and he is set to undergo more tests Monday. However, early indications are his injury is not serious. The Eagles may release an update on Smith's status after the results of his exams are read, but they may also wait until they return to practice Wednesday.
Dec 31, 2023
Using crutches, boot after Week 17
Smith was spotted on crutches with a walking boot on his right foot following Sunday's 35-31 loss to the Cardinals, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith may have suffered the injury when he served as the lead blocker for Kenneth Gainwell on a screen in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. After the play, Smith had difficulty putting weight on his right foot, visited the sideline tent and then went to the locker room. Prior to his exit, he hauled in three of five passes for 30 yards. It's unclear if he's in danger of missing any time, but the Eagles or coach Nick Sirianni likely will touch on Smith's status in due time.
Dec 25, 2023
Brings in touchdown Monday
Smith caught four of five targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 33-25 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout was on the other end of a 36-yard TD toss from Jalen Hurts in the second quarter to account for much of his production. Smith has found pay dirt three times in the last five games, posting a 30-404-3 line on 39 targets over that stretch, and he'll look to keep rolling in Week 17 against the Cardinals.
Dec 23, 2023
Clear for Monday
Smith (knee) doesn't have a designation for Monday's contest against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging just one limited practice (Saturday) during Week 16 prep, Smith will play through his knee issue and avoid missing the first game of his three-year career. He confirmed as much to Zach Berman of The Athletic earlier Saturday, saying, "If I can go, I'm going to go." Smith thus will be facing a Giants defense Monday that has allowed the sixth-most catches (195) to opposing wide receivers in 14 games this season.
Dec 23, 2023
Returns to practice
Smith (knee) returned to practice Saturday, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was unable to participate in either of the team's first two sessions of the week leading up to Monday's matchup against the Giants. He's reportedly received extensive treatment on his bone bruise and is pushing hard to suit up for the game. Smith's status could come down to a game-time call as a result, but it was certainly a positive that he was able to get back on the practice field.
Dec 22, 2023
Sits out second straight practice
Smith (knee) isn't slated to practice Thursday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith has now been a spectator for both of the Eagles' first two Week 16 practices, so he'll likely need to log some on-field reps Saturday to inspire more confidence in his chances of playing Monday versus the Giants. If Smith ends up missing his first game of the season Monday, the Eagles would likely turn to a three-man rotation of Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus and Julio Jones to pick up reps in two- and three-receiver sets alongside No. 1 wideout A.J. Brown.
Dec 21, 2023
Tending to knee issue
Smith was held out of practice Thursday due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Smith was donning street clothes during the portion of Thursday's session open to the media, and the reason for his absence now is known. There's been no word whether Smith is in danger of sitting out Week 16, but his status bears watching as the Eagles prepare for Monday's game against the Giants.
Dec 18, 2023
Efficient on five targets Monday
Smith secured all five targets for 50 yards in the Eagles' 20-17 loss to the Seahawks on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished tied with A.J. Brown for the team lead in receptions while checking in second to his teammate in receiving yards. The speedster was mostly contained on the night after posting at least 73 receiving yards in each of his previous four contests, but he could have a good opportunity to boost his production back up in a Week 16 Christmas Day home matchup versus the Giants' inconsistent secondary.
Dec 11, 2023
Solid production in loss
Smith brought in five of 10 targets for 73 yards in the Eagles' 33-13 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith was second across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets to A.J. Brown on a night when Jalen Hurts threw for just 197 yards. The third-year speedster has been on a steady run of individual production over the last month-plus, posting 96 receiving yards or more in four of the last six contests while also scoring on four occasions during that span. Smith next takes aim at an inconsistent Seahawks secondary on the road in a Week 15 Monday night road matchup in Dec. 18.
Dec 3, 2023
Nabs sixth TD in loss
Smith had nine receptions on 11 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-19 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was already having a strong fantasy performance before catching a short touchdown late in Sunday's loss to bolster his final line. AJ Brown (thigh) also produced strong results as both starting wideouts took advantage San Francisco's weakness on defense, its cornerbacks. Smith has tallied 22 receptions for 301 yards and two touchdowns in three games since the Eagles' bye week. He will have another opportunity to post big numbers next Sunday against a Cowboys team that has been without top corner Trevon Diggs (knee) all season.
Nov 30, 2023
Full practice Thursday
Smith (knee) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from being listed as limited on the Eagles' first injury report of Week 13 due to a knee issue, Smith was able to manage every on-field rep as the team took part in an actual practice. He's thus ready to take on a 49ers defense Sunday that has conceded the seventh-highest catch rate (66.9 percent) to opposing wide receivers this season.
Nov 29, 2023
Dealing with knee issue
Smith was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Smith has yet to miss a game in his three-year career, but he now is dealing with his third health concern of the season. On a positive note, he was able to manage some reps at Wednesday's walkthrough and will have two more chances to get back to all activity by the end of the week. Fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown continues to tend to a thigh injury, so the status of the pair bears watching ahead of Sunday's matchup with the 49ers.
Nov 26, 2023
Tops century mark in OT win
Smith caught seven of eight targets for 106 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout reached triple digits in receiving yards for the first time since Week 2, although Smith got to exactly 99 in two of his last three games coming into Sunday. He also scored for the third time in the last four games, with his 15-yard catch from Jalen Hurts kicking off a wild fourth quarter that saw the two teams combine for 24 points. Smith has a 23-355-3 line on 26 targets over that four-game stretch, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 13 clash with the 49ers that could be an NFC Conference Championship Game preview.

Carries team's passing game in win
Smith caught six of eight targets for 99 yards in Monday's 21-17 win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Smith accounted for the majority of Jalen Hurts' 150 passing yards while A.J. Brown produced just eight receiving yards. Smith's biggest catch was a 41-yard reception down to the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter, which set up Hurts' go-ahead rushing touchdown on the next play. That touchdown with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter ended up being the game-winner. Smith had a two-game touchdown streak snapped, but he tied his second-highest receiving yardage total of the season, giving the 2021 first-round draft pick some momentum heading into a Week 12 home game against the Bills.
Nov 5, 2023
Hauls in fourth TD of season
Smith caught all three of his targets for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
The wideout saw a season-low target volume against a tough Dallas secondary, but Smith was still able to make an impact, hauling in a 29-yard TD strike from Jalen Hurts on Philly's first possession of the second half to give the team a lead in wouldn't relinquish. Heading into the Eagles' bye, Smith is on pace to top 1,000 receiving yards for the second time in his career and has four touchdowns in nine games, but he'll face another stingy group of defenders in a Week 11 Super Bowl rematch against Kansas City.
Oct 29, 2023
Burns Commanders again in win
Smith brought in all seven targets for 99 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 38-31 win over the Commanders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith saw position mate A.J. Brown put together another standout performance that included a record sixth straight game with 125+ receiving yards, but the former wasn't too far behind in his Week 8 numbers. Smith finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Brown on the afternoon, and he hit the Commanders up for another long touchdown at FedEx Field when he got free down the left side for a 38-yard scoring grab just before the halfway point of the fourth quarter. Smith's score snapped a five-game touchdown drought for the talented third-year wideout, who'll next face an aggressive Cowboys defense in a Week 9 home showdown.
Oct 23, 2023
Finishes third in team receiving
Smith finished with four receptions on five targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Fellow starter A.J. Brown kept his monster season going with another 100-yard receiving game Sunday that dwarfed Smith's results. Not that the two teammates are comparing stats against each other, but it has become apparent who the true No. 1 option is in Philly this season after both players cleared 1,000 receiving yards in 2022. Smith's current 32-383-2 receiving line through seven games projects the wideout to finish with numbers worse than his rookie season. The Alabama standout would benefit from a big performance against Washington next Sunday, or he may find himself falling to third on Jalen Hurts' mental depth chart after tight end Dallas Goedert successfully broke out of his early slump in recent weeks.
Oct 20, 2023
No injury designation
Smith (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Miami.
ANALYSIS
There was some concern earlier this week when he was held out of Wednesday's practice, but the Eagles were comfortable with what they saw from Smith in limited sessions Thursday and Friday. While the recent addition of Julio Jones could eventually give the Eagles a No. 3 receiver who takes on a decent share of targets, it'll likely be Smith, AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert leading the way Sunday night against the Dolphins.
Oct 19, 2023
Logs limited practice Thursday
Smith (hamstring) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring issue, Smith was spotted taking part in the team stretch and eventually hauled in some catches during individual drills, all the while wearing a compression sleeve on his lower right leg, according to Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Smith's return to drills Thursday is a positive sign as the Eagles gear up for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but he may need to get back to all activity Friday in order to avoid a Week 7 designation.
Oct 19, 2023
Returns to practice
Smith (hamstring) participated in Thursday's practice, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith's activity level Thursday won't be known until the Eagles post their second Week 7 injury report, but he appears to be taking a step in the right direction after sitting out Wednesday due to a hamstring issue.
Oct 18, 2023
Dealing with hamstring issue
Smith didn't take part in Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Smith previously tended to hamstring and thigh injuries during Week 3 prep, so he's no stranger to the first of those health concerns on the season. Despite also coming down with an illness prior to Week 4 action, he's barely missed any snaps on a weekly basis en route to a 28-334-2 line on 45 targets through six games. Smith will have two more chances this week to log some reps before the Eagles potentially tag him with a designation for Sunday's showdown with the Dolphins.
Oct 15, 2023
Leads team in targets Sunday
Smith finished with five receptions on 11 targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 20-14 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was determined to get one of his top receivers the ball after the pair of Eagles connected just once in Week 5. Smith struggled with his catch efficiency for the second week in a row after catching 76 percent of his targets over the previous four games. The 24-year-old carries a solid 28/334/2 receiving line through six weeks, but most of that production came in his hot two-game start to the season. Smith should still make most starting fantasy lineups in Week 7 despite his recent slump, as the matchup against Miami could produce several big fantasy scores on Sunday Night Football.
Oct 8, 2023
Down game despite team win
Smith was held to one reception on five targets for five yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith was the odd man out Sunday with A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert each contributing 100-yard games to help the Eagles stay undefeated. Smith has cooled off in recent weeks following a hot start to the season, averaging just four receptions and 37 yards over his last three contests. The 2021 first-round selection proved to be streaky as a rookie when he finished with 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns, so fantasy managers should not fret over the wideout's recent struggles. Smith could be primed for a bounce-back performance against the Jets next Sunday if top wideout A.J. Brown has his hands full with New York's shutdown corner Sauce Gardner in Week 6.
Oct 1, 2023
Productive in win over Washington
Smith caught seven of nine targets for 78 yards in Sunday's 34-31 overtime win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
A.J. Brown was the receiving star for Philly with two long TDs en route to 175 yards, but Smith posted strong numbers of his own as he continues to show excellent chemistry with Jalen Hurts. Smith has caught at least four passes in every game so far this season, and he could be busy again in a possible Week 5 barnburner against the Rams.
Sep 29, 2023
Good to go
Smith (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Washington.
ANALYSIS
As expected, following his Friday return to practice after missing one day. Smith was a limited participant to close out the week but should be ready for a full workload come Sunday.
Sep 29, 2023
Returns from illness
Smith (illness) is practicing Friday, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The quick return after one missed practice suggests Smith isn't dealing with a serious illness and will be ready for Sunday's game against Washington. He may even avoid a designation on the final injury report Friday afternoon.
Sep 28, 2023
Comes down with illness
Smith didn't practice Thursday due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for Smith, he's come down with an illness in the middle of the week, giving him a few days to get back to normal before the Eagles' upcoming matchup with the Commanders on Sunday. His status for Week 4 may gain some clarity when Friday's practice report is posted, but if he ends up limited or sidelined this weekend, the likes of Quez Watkins (hamstring), Olamide Zaccheaus and Britain Covey (hamstring) could see increased reps on offense behind top wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Sep 25, 2023
Rare off night in win
Smith caught four of five targets for 28 yards in Monday's 25-11 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Smith failed to reach 40 receiving yards for the first time since Week 9 of last season. After opening the 2023 campaign on a two-game touchdown streak, the 2021 first-round pick took a back seat while A.J. Brown posted a season-high 127 receiving yards and No. 3 wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus chipped in a 34-yard touchdown. Smith's unlikely to be held down for long, and a Week 4 home game against a Washington defense that just gave up 37 points to the Bills offers a nice opportunity to get back on track.
Sep 23, 2023
Cleared for Monday
Smith (hamstring/thigh) was not listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was a full participant in Saturday's practice paving the way for the star wideout to be cleared ahead of the primetime matchup. Smith already has nearly 200 receiving yards and 11 receptions through two games, although the Buccaneers formidable secondary could prove to be troublesome come Monday.
Sep 22, 2023
Limited in practice again
Smith (hamstring/thigh) was a limited practice participant Friday.
ANALYSIS
Smith should be able to play Monday in Tampa even if he's limited for a third straight day when the Eagles release their final injury report Saturday. The team would be awfully thin at wide receiver in the event of a weekend setback, as No. 3 man Quez Watkins (hamstring) already appears highly likely to miss MNF.
Sep 21, 2023
Dealing with pair of injuries
Smith was limited at Thursday's practice due to hamstring and thigh injuries.
ANALYSIS
Smith has been clicking with quarterback Jalen Hurts through the first two contests of the season, notching 11 catches (on 15 targets) for 178 yards and two touchdowns while playing 140 of 141 offensive snaps. Now, though, Smith made an appearance on the Eagles' first Week 3 injury report. He'll thus have two more opportunities to log a full session before the Eagles potentially hand him a designation for Monday's contest at Tampa Bay.
Sep 15, 2023
Eclipses century mark in win
Smith secured four of five targets for 131 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 34-28 win over the Vikings on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The highlight of Smith's big night was a 63-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter that saw the fleet-footed receiver use pure speed to get open for a perfectly-timed throw from Jalen Hurts. Smith's second catch of the game also seemed to portend a prolific night, as he logged a 54-yard grab on his second reception during Philadelphia's first drive. Smith has significantly outpaced fellow star receiver A.J. Brown through two games, as the former will take an 11-178-2 line into a Week 3 Monday night road matchup against the Buccaneers on Sept. 25.
Sep 10, 2023
Tallies touchdown in opener
Smith recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Smith matched A.J. Brown in targets and receptions, though he wound up with 32 fewer yards. He made up for that gap in production with a five-yard touchdown reception late in the first quarter, though ultimately the entire Philadelphia offense was held back by rainy conditions in Foxboro. The Eagles should find more offensive success in a Week 2 matchup against the Vikings, benefitting Smith and the rest of the skill-position players.
Aug 12, 2023
Not slated to play Saturday
Smith isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason contest at Baltimore, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Smith and A.J. Brown aren't available to the Eagles offense, leaving wide receiver in the hands of Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devon Allen, among others. Smith's next chance for exhibition action will occur this coming Thursday against the Browns.
Aug 4, 2023
Excelling this summer
Smith has been busy and effective at training camp, catching 11 of 14 targets through five full-team practices, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like the Eagles are getting their RBs a bit more involved in the passing game, particularly new addition D'Andre Swift, but the reports coming out of Philadelphia otherwise have Smith, A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert predictably dominating targets from QB Jalen Hurts. Those three accounted for 77.7 percent of the team's receiving yards and 69.3 percent of the targets last season, with Smith's shares coming in at 27.4 percent and 26.9 percent, respectively. There's probably not a ton of room for growth beyond 26.9 percent target share so long as Brown and Goedert enjoy relatively healthy seasons, but Smith could nonetheless match or exceed last year's stats if he improves his already-strong efficiency numbers (69.9 percent catch rate, 8.8 YPT), which isn't out of the question given that he's an extremely talented 24-year-old entering his third pro season while playing in an elite offense.
Feb 12, 2023
Paces Philly pass catchers
Smith recorded seven receptions on nine targets for 100 yards in Sunday's 38-35 Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Smith was overshadowed by teammate A.J. Brown, who managed an impressive 45-yard touchdown catch early in the second quarter. However, Smith still led the Eagles in receptions and yards, production that was jumpstarted by three receptions for 41 yards on the team's opening drive. After an impressive sophomore season during which Smith posted 95 receptions for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns across 17 regular-season games, Smith will once again form a potent receiving tandem with Brown in 2023.
Jan 29, 2023
Modest numbers against Niners
Smith caught two of three targets for a team-high 36 yards in Sunday's 31-7 win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Brock Purdy (elbow) got hurt early for San Francisco, and Philly simply didn't need to throw the ball much after that. Smith's 29-yard catch on the Eagles' opening drive was the longest play of the game for either team, however, and set up a six-yard score for Miles Sanders. It still resulted in Smith's lowest yardage total since Week 9, but he and the rest of the Eagles passing game should be a lot busier two weeks from now in the Super Bowl.
Jan 21, 2023
Paces pass catchers in playoff win
Smith secured six of 10 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 38-7 divisional-round win over the Giants on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night while also securing a nine-yard touchdown grab to put Philadelphia up by two scores late in the first quarter. The speedster has at least Saturday's reception and yardage totals in four straight games overall, a favorable streak he'll aim to extend at the expense of either the Cowboys or 49ers in a conference championship clash a week from Sunday.
Jan 8, 2023
Seven grabs in Sunday's win
Smith caught seven of eight targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout led the Eagles in receptions in Jalen Hurts' return from a shoulder strain, as the team locked up the top seed in the NFC and a first-round bye. Smith finishes the regular season with 95 catches on 136 targets for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns, and with Hurts getting another week to heal up, he and A.J. Brown could be headed for very big postseasons.
Jan 1, 2023
Targeted 13 times in loss
Smith recorded nine catches on 13 targets for 115 yards in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Smith paced the Eagles' receiving corps in targets and receptions and turned in his third consecutive 100-yard performance. His effort was highlighted by long receptions of 28 and 25 yards, though he was also peppered with targets in the short areas of the field by Gardner Minshew. After beginning the season with a volatile target rate, Smith now has at least eight targets in each of his last nine contests.
Dec 24, 2022
Notches two touchdowns in Week 16
Smith posted eight catches (on 12 targets) for 113 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 40-34 loss in Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Like fellow Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, Smith now has surpassed 100 yards receiving three times in the last four games, a stretch in which he's compiled a 23-405-4 line on 36 targets. The timing is great in the midst of the fantasy playoffs, and Smith put together such a performance with backup signal-caller Gardner Minshew filling in for MVP candidate Jalen Hurts (shoulder). If Hurts requires another absence Week 17 against the Saints on Sunday, Jan. 1, Smith's outlook doesn't appear to be diminished too much with Minshew running Philadelphia's offense.
Dec 18, 2022
Over 100 yards in Week 15 win
Smith caught five of eight targets for 126 yards in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Smith's 45-yard reception in the second quarter set up a field goal, and he added a 38-yard catch in the two-minute drill to go over the 100-yard mark in the first half. A.J. Brown took over after halftime and finished with a team-leading 181 receiving yards, as the pair of productive wideouts accounted for 307 of Jalen Hurts' 315 passing yards. After topping 100 receiving yards only thrice in his first 28 NFL games, Smith has done so in two of the past three. The 2021 first-round pick is blossoming into a force to be reckoned with heading into a Week 16 trip to Dallas.
Dec 11, 2022
Another touchdown in Week 14 win
Smith secured five of eight targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 48-22 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles in targets while checking in second in both receptions and receiving yards. The second-year speedster also recorded a team-long 41-yard grab, which came on an early second-quarter touchdown that was Smith's fifth trip to the end zone this season. Now boasting a career-best 66 catches, Smith will aim to continue his surge on the road versus the Bears in Week 15.
Dec 4, 2022
Tops 100 yards, scores
Smith recorded five receptions on eight targets for 102 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-10 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Smith recorded three receptions of at least 20 yards to top the century mark for the second time on the campaign. He also chipped in his fourth receiving touchdown of the season on a 34-yard reception only three minutes into the game. Smith has been out-performed by teammate A.J. Brown for much of the season, though he's still on pace to surpass the production from his rookie campaign in nearly every metric heading into a Week 14 matchup against the Giants.
Dec 2, 2022
Cleared to play
Smith (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Smith upgraded to full participation Friday after back-to-back limited practices. He's seen eight or more targets in three straight games and is only seven behind A.J. Brown for the team lead this season (86-79), but Brown has a much larger share of the deep passes and red-zone looks, while Smith has gotten far more his targets near the line of scrimmage than he did last season. In any case, both get a decent matchup this week, as Brown's former team has given up the third most PPR points to wide receivers despite playing solid defense on the whole.
Dec 1, 2022
Remains limited Thursday
Smith (groin) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles again are holding Smith back during Week 13 prep as he tends to his third listed injury of the season. He hasn't had an issue playing through the previous health concerns, earning at least 86 percent of snaps in 10 of 11 contests. Smith also has seen at least eight targets in three consecutive games on his way to 16-167-1 line during that span. Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's outing against the Titans.
Nov 30, 2022
Tending to groin issue
Smith was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough practice due to a groin injury.
ANALYSIS
Smith has tended to back and knee issues this season, the latter of which has impacted his practice reps the previous two weeks. Now, a new health concern has arisen, placing a cloud over his status prior to Sunday's contest against the Titans. Note that Smith hasn't missed a game on the campaign and has earned an 86 percent snap share or better in 10 of 11 outings, so assuming he's out there this weekend, he'll remain a regular target of quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Nov 28, 2022
Leads receivers with 50 yards
Smith caught four of nine targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 40-33 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Eagles in receiving yards for the second week in a row while the rushing attack continued to carry the team to its 10th win. The 2021 first-round pick hasn't taken the big step forward in his sophomore campaign that many had hoped, but he is still producing at levels close to his strong rookie debut. Look for Smith to see his usual healthy share of targets against Tennessee in a clash of conference contenders Sunday.
Nov 25, 2022
Cleared from injury report
Smith (knee) has been cleared from the injury report for Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was listed with the same injury last week and caught six of nine targets for 78 yards. He was then limited in practice this Thursday, while A.J. Brown sat out due to an illness, but both have been cleared to face the Packers this weekend.
Nov 24, 2022
Limited by knee injury
Smith (knee) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
Smith tended to a knee injury last week, so the cap on his reps this week may be maintenance-related to keep him as close to 100 percent as possible. Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown was a DNP on Thursday due to an illness, a reality that could bump up Smith to No. 1 on the WR depth chart for the Eagles if the former is limited or sidelined this weekend. In the end, Friday's report may clarify the statuses of both Brown and Smith for Sunday's game versus the Packers.
Nov 20, 2022
Leads team in receiving yardage
Smith caught six passes for 78 yards on nine targets against Indianapolis on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith seemed to draw more usage than usual with Dallas Goedert out and A.J. Brown (seven targets) drawing most of the defensive attention. The resulting box score isn't overly impressive at a glance, but it was a crucial contribution to the Eagles offense on a day where Jalen Hurts threw for only 190 yards on 25 attempts. Smith should continue to see escalated target shares while Goedert misses time, and a big game could result if Hurts' passing yardage volume exceeds the figure from this game. A Week 12 matchup with Green Bay could be a productive one for Smith.
Nov 18, 2022
Cleared to play in Indy
Smith (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith and A.J. Brown (ankle) both were limited practice participants Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday. They avoid injury designations and thus are set to do battle with a tough group of cornerbacks led by Stephon Gilmore.
Nov 17, 2022
Limited again Thursday
Smith (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith logged a second consecutive capped session to begin Week 11 prep, as did fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown (ankle). There's been no indication that Smith is in danger of sitting out Sunday at Indianapolis due to a knee issue, but Friday's injury report may provide a clearer picture of his upcoming availability.
Nov 16, 2022
Dealing with knee injury
Smith was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough practice due to a knee issue.
ANALYSIS
Playing alongside a hobbled A.J. Brown on Monday versus the Commanders, Smith had his most productive performance in weeks (6-39-1 on eight targets). Now, though, Smith is tending to an injury of his own. As such, the status of both wide receivers should be watched as the week goes on to get a sense of their availability for Sunday's contest at Indianapolis.
Nov 15, 2022
Scores TD on bittersweet birthday
Smith caught six of eight targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 32-21 loss to the Commanders. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Playing on his 24th birthday, Smith gave himself a reason to celebrate in the third quarter, finding the end zone from 11 yards out. Back in the first, Smith drew a 30-yard pass interference penalty to set up Dallas Goedert's touchdown on the ensuing play. The second-year wide receiver appeared to hurt his hand on the play and spent some time in the blue medical tent but rejoined the game shortly. While Smith enjoyed a productive night, the Eagles ultimately came away with their first loss of the season. His fumble came on the final play, as Smith's attempt at a lateral was scooped up by a defender and returned for a Washington touchdown. Smith's inconsistent usage will make him a risky Week 11 fantasy option against the stout Colts secondary, though his ceiling remains high in the high-flying Eagles offense.
Nov 3, 2022
Quiet night in Week 9 win
Smith brought in both his targets for 22 yards in the Eagles' 29-17 win over the Texans on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith put together another quiet performance while Dallas Goedert and A.J. Brown set the pace of the pass-catching corps. The second-year speedster actually recorded all his yardage on one of his two catches, and he's now been under 50 receiving yards in three straight games. Smith's 11.1 yards per reception also represents a notable drop from the 14.3 figure he put up as a rookie, but he'll aim to exploit a favorable matchup against a Commanders defense that's given up plenty of big plays this season when he faces Washington in a Week 10 matchup in Monday night, Nov. 14.
Oct 30, 2022
Complementary role against Steelers
Smith recorded five receptions on eight targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 35-13 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was heavily involved in the offense, as his eight targets were good for second on the team. However, he was used almost exclusively in short areas of the field -- in direct contrast to teammate A.J. Brown. Smith's production remains inconsistent, as he has at least 80 receiving yards in three of seven games this season, but he has only 84 yards combined across the remaining four contests.
Oct 17, 2022
Strong results from five targets
Smith hauled in all five of his targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-17 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished with a nearly identical line to fellow starter A.J. Brown, as both receivers were able to eat despite Jalen Hurts finishing with a new season low of 155 passing yards. The talented sophomore has been on a roll since his zero-point dud back in Week 1, accruing a receiving line of 33/397/2 for fantasy managers over his last five games. Smith will continue to be a must-start wideout when Philadelphia returns from its bye week to take on the Steelers on Oct. 30.
Oct 9, 2022
Automatic production underneath
Smith caught 10 passes for 87 yards on 11 targets against Arizona on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
A player as explosive as Smith isn't used to grinding out small amounts of yardage underneath, but he was highly effective doing so in this game and played a crucial role in helping the Eagles hold on to a 20-17 win on the road. While it's rare that the Eagles passing game can support all of Smith, A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert for big receiving production in a single game, Smith has proven repeatedly that he's a standout for his own part and can do big numbers when the usage is there. Smith and the Eagles face Dallas in Week 6.
Oct 2, 2022
Held to three catches
Smith (back) had three receptions (four targets) for 17 yards in Sunday's 29-21 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts struggled from the pocket Sunday (204 yards, no touchdowns and one interception), resulting in quiet fantasy game for Smith. The 23-year-old was dealing with a minor back issue during practice this week, but he was cleared prior to kickoff and did not appear to be physically limited. Smith will look to bounce back next Sunday against an Arizona secondary that entered Week 4 allowing the third-most passing yards to opposing offenses.
Sep 29, 2022
Full practice Thursday
Smith (back) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After a limited session Wednesday due to a back issue, Smith handled every practice rep one day later, setting him up to serve as one of the Eagles' starting wide receivers alongside A.J. Brown on Sunday versus the Jaguars. While Smith was blanked on four targets in the season opener, he's since gathered in 15 of 19 targets for 249 yards and one touchdown over the last two games.
Sep 28, 2022
Dealing with back issue
Smith was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a back injury.
ANALYSIS
Smith may just be enduring some bumps and bruises from his breakout 8-169-1 performance on 12 targets during the Eagles' Week 3 win at Washington. Still, his status should be watched as the week continues to learn whether or not his availability is in question for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Sep 25, 2022
Breakout game in Week 3
Smith caught eight passes for 169 yards and one touchdown on 12 targets against Washington on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It might not be easy for Smith to post numbers like these on a consistent basis with A.J. Brown competing for targets, but Smith has proven his own abilities at this point and can be expected to do well with whatever usage he does draw going forward. After a dud box score in Week 1 (zero catches on four targets), Smith has 15 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown on 19 targets in the two games since.
Sep 19, 2022
Back in the saddle in Week 2 win
Smith secured all seven targets for 80 yards in the Eagles' 24-7 win over the Vikings on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith had been shut out on the stat sheet in Week 1 against the Lions, which had led Jalen Hurts to promise the second-year speedster things would be different in short order. The Eagles' signal-caller more than made good on his promise Monday night, feeding Smith the second-most targets, which led to a team-high number of receptions. Smith's 11.4 yards per catch was a modest figure by his standards, but the solid performance had to have elicited a sigh of relief from his flummoxed fantasy managers. Smith's next opportunity to build on the resurgent effort comes in a Week 3 NFC East battle Sunday against a Commanders team that allowed 256 passing yards and four passing touchdowns to the Lions' Jared Goff in Week 2.
Sep 11, 2022
Shockingly blanked in Week 1 win
Smith failed to bring in any of his four targets in the Eagles' 38-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The speedster had a catch wiped out by penalty and ultimately didn't record an official reception for the first time in his young career. Ironically but perhaps not coincidentally, the closest Smith came to a shutout in his rookie campaign was against this same Lions squad back in last season's Week 8 meeting, so perhaps there is a schematic factor at play. Nevertheless, Smith is hardly a candidate to be sidelined much longer in the Eagles' air attack irrespective of the outsized presence of A.J. Brown, so a bounce-back effort could well be in store during a Week 2 home matchup against the Vikings on Monday night, Sept. 19.
Aug 27, 2022
Not slated to play Saturday
Smith is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Dolphins with coach Nick Sirianni expected to sit Eagles starters, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith's next game action is slated to arrive Week 1 against the Lions on Sunday, Sept. 11. In his second season as a pro, the 2021 first-round pick is in line to see plenty of snaps and targets from quarterback Jalen Hurts while operating with fellow wideout A.J. Brown.
Aug 21, 2022
Rested Sunday
Smith didn't suit up for Sunday's preseason game against the Browns, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to other key Philadelphia skill players Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders (hamstring), with Smith's next chance to suit up for preseason action set for this coming Saturday against the Dolphins.
Aug 18, 2022
No setbacks with minor injury
Smith is practicing again Thursday and hasn't had any setbacks with the groin injury that limited him last week, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith returned to practice Thursday after missing the Eagles' preseason opener. He's seemingly on track for an appearance against the Browns this Sunday, though it hasn't been confirmed one way or the other and likely depends on the team's plan for starters in general.
Aug 14, 2022
Returns to practice Sunday
Smith (groin) returned to practice Sunday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith picked up the groin injury late last week and was ultimately sidelined for the Eagles' preseason opener after missing a few practices in a row. However, as expected, the issue wasn't severe and the second-year wideout appears on track to suit up for Sunday's exhibition game against the Browns.
Aug 10, 2022
Labeled day-to-day
Coach Nick Sirianni said Wednesday that Smith (groin) is day-to-day, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith remains sidelined due to a minor groin injury, but he's managed to resume handling rehab work off to the side Wednesday. Sirianni also announced that the Eagles' starters will handle one or two series during Friday's preseason opener against the Jets, but it remains to be seen if Smith will be cleared to suit up in time for that contest. When deemed healthy, Smith will rejoin A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert as Jalen Hurts' top receiving options.
Aug 4, 2022
Sits out with minor groin injury
Smith will be held out of Thursday's practice with a groin injury, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the injury doesn't appear serious, as Smith joined his teammates on the field for pre-practice stretching. It's the first report of any injury issue for Smith this year, following a rookie campaign in which he played all 17 games and barely missed any practice time during the regular season. He did suffer an MCL sprain last August and a few minor injuries in college, but he's missed just two games total his last five seasons between Alabama and the NFL. The 23-year-old wideout has been surprisingly durable for someone unusually thin (6-0, 170) for his position, and he should continue growing as a player after a 916-yard rookie season. Target volume is a potential issue, however, as the Eagles had success with a run-heavy approach late last season and then traded for WR A.J. Brown in the offseason.
May 6, 2022
Tops depth chart along with Brown
Following the recent NFL Draft, the Eagles' wide receiver depth chart will be topped by newcomer A.J. Brown along with Smith, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown, who the Eagles obtained from the Titans on the first night of the draft, is now slated to pair with Smith, who caught 64 of his 104 targets for 916 yards and five TDs in 17 games as a rookie after going 10th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-1, 226 pounds, Brown adds a physical presence opposite Smith, who's listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds. The duo's fantasy upside hinges largely on how well they click with starting QB Jalen Hurts, but both Brown and Smith should at least see steady volume in 2022, given they clearly head a wideout corps that also rosters Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, Jalen Reagor and Greg Ward.
Apr 30, 2022
Gets big help in receiving corps
The Eagles hope Smith will be helped by the acquisition of A.J. Brown, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith is a smaller receiver at six feet, 170 pounds while Brown is much larger at 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, and coach Nick Sirianni views the duo as complementary to one another. Brown's addition to the receiver room should at the very least draw defensive focus from the 2021 first-round pick as well as create more opportunity for the whole offense by lengthening drives. Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, Jalen Reagor and Greg Ward will likely now function mostly as afterthoughts in what was a run-first offense in 2021.
Jan 16, 2022
Produces little with 11 targets
Smith recorded four receptions on 11 targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 31-15 wild-card round loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished second on the team with 11 targets, but he averaged only 5.5 yards per look to turn in a disappointing performance. Though his final line was uninspiring, Smith did turn in a strong second half as he had only one reception on two targets through the first two quarters. Though it came in garbage time, Smith picked up chunk gains of 31 and 19 yards in the fourth quarter to account for the majority of his production. He'll now look toward his second season as a pro after turning in a solid rookie campaign that was highlighted by 61 catches, 916 yards and five touchdowns across 17 games.
Jan 8, 2022
Sets rookie record
Smith caught three of four targets for 41 yards in Saturday's 51-26 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Smith was involved early on, enabling him to set the Eagles' rookie record for receiving yards in a season. The first-rounder's performance included a long grab of 25 yards on a heads-up play during Philadelphia's opening series, extending what became a touchdown drive. Fresh off his personal accomplishment, Smith will now set his sights on his first-career playoff appearance next weekend.
Jan 3, 2022
Three catches in win
Smith caught three of his six targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Smith's first catch of the day accounted for most of his yards as he caught Jalen Hurts' first pass attempt of the game for a 30-yard pickup. The rookie was pretty quiet after that but was still able to lead all Philadelphia receivers in receiving yards once again, trailing only Dallas Goedert (71 yards) among all pass-catchers. Smith has a nice matchup on tap against the Cowboys in Week 18, but his playing time may be affected with both teams having clinched the playoffs already.
Dec 26, 2021
Scores heavily scrutinized TD
Smith secured five of seven targets for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 34-10 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith paced the Eagles in receptions and receiving yardage, with his production in each category also serving as his best since Week 9. The rookie's four-yard scoring grab in the latter portion of the third quarter was also the subject of not one but two replays, with the latter review confirming the score after the first one seemed to nullify it. Smith is likely to play another prominent role in a key Week 17 road showdown against Washington.
Dec 21, 2021
Three catches in win
Smith brought in three of five targets for 40 yards in the Eagles' 27-17 win over Washington on Tuesday night.
ANALYSIS
The speedster took a back seat in the air attack to tight end Dallas Goedert, who exploded for a season-high 135 receiving yards. Smith got 28 of his yards on one catch, but it was otherwise a quiet night for the talented rookie. Despite the untimely downturn Tuesday, Smith is still seemingly a poor candidate for a Week 16 benching on fantasy playoff rosters considering his home matchup against a Giants secondary that's played poorly on the road all season.
Dec 17, 2021
Eagles-Washington moved to Tuesday
Smith and the Eagles will no longer play Washington on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
ANALYSIS
Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within Washington's organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Football Team will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. The two-day delay could also help Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle) get healthier, as he had been listed as questionable for the Week 15 contest before the game was postponed Friday. While Hurts was sidelined in the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets, Gardner Minshew filled in admirably at quarterback but didn't show much of a rapport with Smith, who finished with two receptions for 15 yards on four targets.
Dec 5, 2021
Held down again
Smith recorded two receptions on four targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 33-18 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Smith was limited by game script, as the Eagles took to the air only 25 times while playing with the lead for the majority of the contest. Even so, both Dallas Goedert and Kenneth Gainwell saw more targets than Smith, who has combined to post just four receptions on eight targets for 37 yards across his last two games. Whether it's the rookie wall or offensive gameplan, Smith will have the chance to regroup in an effort to return to his more productive ways as the Eagles head into their Week 14 bye.
Dec 2, 2021
Takes full reps Thursday
Smith (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, Smith was spotted with a brace protecting the elbow he first hurt Week 9 against the Chargers, but that injury nor the non-COVID-19-related ailment that kept him out of Wednesday's walk-through will prevent him from playing Sunday against the Jets. In his return to practice, Smith took reps on the first team offense with both backup Gardner Minshew and starter Jalen Hurts, who was limited for the second straight day due to a sore ankle. Barring a setback, Hurts still appears likely to give it a go this weekend, so Smith's outlook shouldn't change much from prior weeks.
Dec 2, 2021
Back at practice Thursday
Smith (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Wednesday with a non-COVID-19-related illness, Smith was back in his customary role leading Eagles wide receivers in individual drills. Thursday's injury report will reveal how much work the rookie first-round pick was able to handle.
Dec 1, 2021
Dealing with non-COVID-19 illness
Smith was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for Smith's fantasy managers, the illness isn't related to COVID-19, per EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Smith has two sessions remaining this week to put the ailment behind him and ready himself for Sunday's road game against the Jets.
Nov 28, 2021
Underused Sunday
Smith caught two passes for 22 yards on four targets against the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jalen Hurts struggled as a passer and took Smith down with him, but both players should find a more welcoming matchup when the Eagles face the Jets in Week 13. Smith's disappointing numbers against the Giants mostly occurred because Hurts threw for only 129 yards and three interceptions on 31 attempts, but an outcome like that is far less likely against the Jets.
Nov 21, 2021
Four grabs in win
Smith brought in four of six targets for 61 yards in the Eagles' 40-29 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith narrowly missed out on a touchdown grab in the left corner of the end zone late in the first half when he couldn't quite come down inbounds, and he otherwise put together a solid but unspectacular day. The rookie's production continues to be somewhat capped by quarterback Jalen Hurts' overall limitations as a passer, but he's now eclipsed 60 receiving yards in four of the last five games. Smith's Week 12 matchup takes him to New York, where he'll face a Giants secondary that's been much better at home than the road this season.
Nov 14, 2021
Two more TDs in Sunday's win
Smith caught four of six targets for 66 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After finding the end zone only once in his first eight NFL games, Smith has now scored three TDs in his last two contests while flashing some impressive chemistry with Jalen Hurts. The rookie wideout will look to continue his recent strong stretch of play in Week 11 against the Saints.
Nov 11, 2021
Full practice Wednesday
Smith (elbow) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After one session with a cap on his reps due to an elbow issue, Smith managed to log all individual and team work Thursday. With his health not in question, he's again poised to serve as the Eagles' No. 1 wide receiver Sunday against a Broncos defense that has allowed 162.8 total yards per game and nine touchdowns to the position in nine contests this season.
Nov 10, 2021
Limited with elbow injury
Smith was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to an elbow injury, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith should be able to play through the issue Sunday in Denver, following a 5-116-1 receiving line in the Week 9 loss to Los Angeles. He's locked in as Philly's top wide receiver, by a mile, but there is some cause for concern with just nine targets over the past two weeks as the team has quickly shifted from pass-heavy to run-heavy, albeit with a lot of help from matchups.
Nov 7, 2021
Big effort in loss
Smith caught five of six targets for 116 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
While the rookie didn't see big volume, Smith still put together a huge performance as the only receiving option of note for the Eagles. It's his second career game with 100-plus yards, while the TD was his first since Week 1. He'll look to keep building momentum in a Week 10 tilt against the Broncos.
Oct 31, 2021
Just three targets in win
Smith caught one of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 44-6 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Smith had just one target in the first half. The Eagles hardly needed to pass in the blowout and mostly played it safe when they did. With what should be a much more competitive matchup ahead with the Chargers, the rookie first-round pick should see a more customary allotment of targets in Week 9.
Oct 28, 2021
Puts headache behind him
Smith (headache) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Smith sat out Wednesday due to a headache, which ultimately wasn't serious, as indicated by his bump in activity level. With his status now not in question for Week 8, he'll prepare to face a Lions defense Sunday that has allowed an NFL-worst 10.8 yards per target to wide receivers this season.
Oct 28, 2021
Back at practice
Smith (headache) returned to practice Thursday,Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
A headache caused Smith to sit out Wednesday's session, but his return to practice Thursday suggests that the wideout is on track to play Sunday against the Lions. The Eagles' upcoming practice report will clarify whether Smith was limited or practiced fully Thursday.
Oct 27, 2021
Misses practice with headache
Smith missed Wednesday's practice with a headache, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith likely will be day-to-day and should stand a good chance to rejoin practice by the end of the week. He gets an appealing Week 8 matchup with the Lions, though Philadelphia's passing game hasn't been much better than Detroit's pass defense in recent weeks.
Oct 27, 2021
Not at practice
Smith isn't present for the start of Wednesday's practice, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The Wednesday injury report will reveal if the wideout is dealing with an injury or absent from practice due to a personal issue or illness. Smith and the Eagles get a friendly Week 8 road matchup with the Lions.
Oct 24, 2021
Five grabs against Raiders
Smith caught five of nine targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
The rookie wideout led the Eagles in receptions and targets, although Dallas Goedert hauled in more yardage. Smith has caught at least five passes in three of the last four games as he continues to build chemistry with Jalen Hurts, which will give him some intriguing upside in Week 8 against a Lions secondary that just got carved up by Cooper Kupp.
Oct 15, 2021
Two catches in loss
Smith secured two of four targets for 31 yards in the Eagles' 28-22 loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Buccaneers playing with a short-handed secondary that was further depleted when Richard Sherman was forced from the contest with a hamstring injury, Smith couldn't make an impact on a night when the entire Eagles passing attack underwhelmed. The speedy rookie did record his fourth catch of over 20 yards on the season, but his total tally on the night was a considerable disappointment after Smith had turned in a 14-199 effort on 19 targets over his previous two games. Smith will look to bounce back against the Raiders in Week 7 road battle a week from Sunday.
Oct 3, 2021
First 100-yard game in Week 4 loss
Smith caught seven of 10 targets for 122 yards in Sunday's 42-30 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Smith successfully created separation throughout the game against the struggling Chiefs defense. The 10th-overall pick still made some rookie mistakes, including running a wrong route that almost led to a Jalen Hurts interception late in the first half, but there's no question that Smith has the talent to thrive in the NFL. Smith's 122 receiving yards in this one topped the 115 he had compiled over his first three games combined, and he'll look to build on this performance in Week 5 against the Panthers.
Sep 28, 2021
Slips on interception
Smith caught three of six targets for 28 yards in Monday night's 41-21 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Smith had a long gain of 19 yards in the first half, but he opened the second by slipping on a target from quarterback Jalen Hurts, allowing college teammate Trevon Diggs to intercept the ball and run 59 yards for a touchdown. Despite the score getting lopsided at that point and the Eagles consequently being forced to pass, Smith still couldn't muster much production, failing to top 30 yards for the second straight week. This year's tenth-overall pick will now strive for improvement in Week 4 against the Chiefs defense that has struggled so far this season.
Sep 19, 2021
Makes little of seven targets
Smith recorded two receptions on seven targets for 16 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Smith was the favorite target of Jalen Hurts, but the pair didn't find the same connection they showcased in Week 1. The Eagles' offense struggled overall, with Quez Watkins being the primary member of the offense to post notable production. While it's a positive that Smith remained the top target in the offense, his down performance highlights the volatility that the Eagles' offense could experience throughout the season.
Sep 12, 2021
Scores in regular-season debut
Smith secured six of eight targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 32-6 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The spectacular rookie paid immediate dividends in his regular-season debut, running under a pretty Jalen Hurts pass from 19 yards out in the first quarter for the Eagles' first points of the afternoon. Smith ultimately went on to co-lead the team in receptions while pacing the squad in both receiving yardage and targets, a highly encouraging sign for the apparently rapidly burgeoning connection between him and Hurts. Smith will look to build on the quick start to his career in a Week 2 home showdown against the 49ers.
Aug 27, 2021
Unlikely to play preseason finale
Smith isn't in uniform ahead of Friday's preseason game at the Jets, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith missed a good portion of training camp due to a sprained MCL, but he was able to suit up in the Eagles' second exhibition against the Patriots. Because Jalen Hurts was a late scratch due to an illness, Smith worked with backup QB joe Flacco, gathering in two of four targets for 19 yards. With the preseason finale imminent, it appears coach Nick Sirianni will hold out the team's 2021 first-round pick after a deluge of rain hit MetLife Stadium prior to Friday's contest. Thus, Smith's next game action won't occur until Week 1 in Atlanta.
Aug 19, 2021
Pair of grabs in pro debut
Smith (knee) secured two of four targets for 19 yards in the Eagles' 35-0 preseason loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner just returned to team drills Tuesday after dealing with an MCL sprain and jumped into his first taste of NFL game action just 48 hours later. Smith didn't get an opportunity to work with Jalen Hurts, who was a late scratch due to an illness, but he was able to still benefit from playing with a very experienced signal-caller in Joe Flacco. Given he was able to suit up Thursday, Smith should have a chance to get some playing time with Hurts during the Eagles' preseason finale against the Jets a week from Friday.
Aug 19, 2021
Likely to play Thursday
Smith (knee) is in pads prior to Thursday's preseason game versus the Patriots, suggesting he'll make his pro debut, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
As John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported earlier Thursday, Smith is slated to "get some plays" after tending to an MCL sprain in his left knee for the bulk of training camp. Smith missed two and half weeks due to the injury, but he got back on the practice field Monday and was in team drills Tuesday, setting him up for an appearance Thursday. The 2021 10th overall pick will work with the first-team offense, as he did to kick off camp in late July.
Aug 19, 2021
On track for NFL debut Thursday
Smith (knee) is expected to "get some plays" in Thursday's preseason game against New England, John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith missed two and a half week of practice after spraining the MCL in his left knee July 31. He just returned to practice this Monday, but a quick return to team drills (Tuesday) suggests the rookie wideout is feeling good. Prior to his injury, Smith had opened training camp on the first-string offense, with the Eagles leaving no doubt about where their expectations stand after trading up to take Smith at No. 10 overall in the 2021 Draft.
Aug 17, 2021
Returning to team drills
Smith (knee) will get some reps in team drills Tuesday, and Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said the rookie could play in a game this preseason, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith returned to a limited practice Monday after missing two and a half weeks with an MCL sprain. He'd have a better chance to play if the Eagles were facing the Patriots over the weekend instead of this Thursday, but Smith should at least have time to prepare for the preseason finale against the Jets on Aug. 27. Even if the Eagles do keep him out of the two exhibitions, reports from early training camp suggest Smith will be a Week 1 starter, as he was consistently working with the first unit prior to spraining his knee.
Aug 16, 2021
Returns to limited practice
Smith (knee) is returning to practice Monday as a limited participant, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith is in pads and on the field but may be held out of 11-on-11s and/or contact work. He sprained the MCL in his left knee July 31, and a return to practice Monday puts him right in the middle of the timeline estimate (2-3 weeks). While an appearance in Thursday's preseason game against New England may be too ambitious, Smith has another shot to suit up when the Eagles face the Jets on Aug. 27 in their preseason finale. The 10th overall pick in this year's draft had consistently been working with the first-string offense at training camp before his knee injury.
Aug 14, 2021
Progressing well
Smith has been upgraded to day-to-day as he continues to recover from a MCL sprain, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith actually was spotted stretching with the team and running sprints on the sidelines so it was assumed the first-round pick would ultimately participate in Saturday's practice, but the Eagles continue to be cautious with its prized rookie. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner appears to be on track to return within the two or three week timetable that was suggested after Smith sprained his MCL at the start of training camp.
Aug 2, 2021
Out two weeks with MCL sprain
Smith (knee) is expected to miss two weeks of practice while he recovers from an MCL sprain, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
While MCL injuries typically come with longer recovery timelines, it sounds like Smith escaped with a minor sprain, as he walked off the field without much trouble and observed the remainder of Saturday's practice after hurting his knee. The Heisman winner hasn't practiced since and now figures to miss at least half of training camp, but it sounds like he could still play in the preseason. Smith opened camp working with the starters, so the Eagles don't seem inclined to waste time with formalities or making their prized rookie jump through hoops.
Aug 2, 2021
Week-to-week with knee injury
Smith is considered week-to-week with a knee sprain, though the Eagles expect him back sooner than later, according to Bo Wulf of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Smith suffered the injury Saturday and was held out of practice Monday. We might normally worry about a rookie falling behind and missing out on his chance to earn a role, but the Eagles don't have much else at wide receiver, and the other guys -- namely Jalen Reagor, Travis Fulgham and Jalen Reagor -- also have been banged up during the early part of training camp. Smith, the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner, has been working with the starting offense since the first day of camp, developing a rapport with young quarterback Jalen Hurts. That may be put on pause for a few weeks, but it sounds like Smith will be ready for the Week 1 start, potentially serving as Philly's No. 1 wide receiver right out of the gate.
Aug 2, 2021
Absent to start week
Smith (leg) isn't practicing Monday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie appeared to work as Philadelphia's No. 1 receiver during the first week of training camp, but it only took a few days before Smith joined fellow wideouts Jalen Reagor and Travis Fulgham on the injured list. Each of the three is dealing with a lower-body injury, and while none of the issues seems serious, they're all missing out on opportunities to build chemistry with second-year QB Jalen Hurts. Assuming he's back on the field within a few weeks, Smith should still be on track to start the season opener, likely with fellow first-round pick Reagor lined up on the other side.
Jul 31, 2021
Nursing leg injury
Smith exited Saturday's practice with a leg injury, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick remained on the sideline and watched the rest of practice after suffering the injury, so it appears to be a minor issue. The Eagles have Sunday off before returning to practice Monday, so Smith will have a day to recover before potentially missing additional practice time.
Jul 28, 2021
Won't play this week
Smith and Travis Fulgham lined up with the first-team offense at Wednesday's practice, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith's presence comes as no surprise, while Fulgham may have just been filling in for Jalen Reagor, who was bothered by tightness in his lower body. Given that he's a No. 10 overall pick with weak competition at his position, Smith is one of the few rookies around the league who essentially will be handed a starting job. He could also handle a sizable target share right out of the gate, albeit in an offense that figures to prioritize the running game with dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts and a deep stable of running backs.
