After topping 100 receiving yards only thrice in his first 28 NFL games, Smith has done so in two of the past three. The 2021 first-round pick is blossoming into a force to be reckoned with heading into a Week 16 trip to Dallas.

Brown and Dallas Goedert for big receiving production in a single game, Smith has proven repeatedly that he's a standout for his own part and can do big numbers when the usage is there. Smith and the Eagles face Dallas in Week 6.

Smith will look to bounce back next Sunday against an Arizona secondary that entered Week 4 allowing the third-most passing yards to opposing offenses.

Smith's next opportunity to build on the resurgent effort comes in a Week 3 NFC East battle Sunday against a Commanders team that allowed 256 passing yards and four passing touchdowns to the Lions' Jared Goff in Week 2.

Target volume is a potential issue, however, as the Eagles had success with a run-heavy approach late last season and then traded for WR A.J. Brown in the offseason.

Following the recent NFL Draft, the Eagles' wide receiver depth chart will be topped by newcomer A.J. Brown along with Smith, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Brown, who the Eagles obtained from the Titans on the first night of the draft, is now slated to pair with Smith, who caught 64 of his 104 targets for 916 yards and five TDs in 17 games as a rookie after going 10th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The duo's fantasy upside hinges largely on how well they click with starting QB Jalen Hurts, but both Brown and Smith should at least see steady volume in 2022, given they clearly head a wideout corps that also rosters Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, Jalen Reagor and Greg Ward.

Smith was involved early on, enabling him to set the Eagles' rookie record for receiving yards in a season. The first-rounder's performance included a long grab of 25 yards on a heads-up play during Philadelphia's opening series, extending what became a touchdown drive. Smith paced the Eagles in receptions and receiving yardage, with his production in each category also serving as his best since Week 9. The rookie's four-yard scoring grab in the latter portion of the third quarter was also the subject of not one but two replays, with the latter review confirming the score after the first one seemed to nullify it. Smith is likely to play another prominent role in a key Week 17 road showdown against Washington.

The speedster took a back seat in the air attack to tight end Dallas Goedert, who exploded for a season-high 135 receiving yards. Smith got 28 of his yards on one catch, but it was otherwise a quiet night for the talented rookie. Despite the untimely downturn Tuesday, Smith is still seemingly a poor candidate for a Week 16 benching on fantasy playoff rosters considering his home matchup against a Giants secondary that's played poorly on the road all season.

Smith and the Eagles will no longer play Washington on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.

Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within Washington's organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Football Team will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. The two-day delay could also help Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle) get healthier, as he had been listed as questionable for the Week 15 contest before the game was postponed Friday. While Hurts was sidelined in the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets, Gardner Minshew filled in admirably at quarterback but didn't show much of a rapport with Smith, who finished with two receptions for 15 yards on four targets.
