Five catches as Rodgers gets hurt
Metcalf caught five of eight targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 34-12 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Aaron Rodgers (left wrist) didn't come back out for the second half, so Mason Rudolph took over under center. Each quarterback threw a touchdown pass to running back Kenneth Gainwell and Pittsburgh's defense scored two touchdowns, but no Steelers wide receiver besides Metcalf had more than two targets. Metcalf is the top option in Pittsburgh's passing game heading into a Week 12 trip to Chicago, but it remains to be seen which quarterback will be throwing him the ball.
Nov 10, 2025
Remains quiet
Metcalf recorded three receptions on seven targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 25-10 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf saw a decent amount of opportunity with seven targets, the fourth time he's hit that mark this season. His longest gain went for 19 yards late in the first quarter, which came shortly after he narrowly missed on a long touchdown. Regardless, Metcalf has only 41 total yards across his last two games while recording five receptions on 11 targets.
Nov 2, 2025
Very quiet against Colts
Metcalf recorded two receptions on four targets for six yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers came away with a win primarily on the strength of their defense, and there was minimal impact by any pass catcher. That was particularly true of Metcalf, who matched his season-low with four targets and turned in by far his least productive game. Metcalf has been productive for fantasy purposes with five touchdowns in eight games, but he's also been held to 50 yards or fewer in half of his contests.
Oct 27, 2025
Back in scoring column Sunday
Metcalf finished with five receptions on seven targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-25 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf found his way back into the end zone after watching his scoring streak of four games come to an end in Week 7. The five receptions tied the athletic wideout's previous high through seven games with his new club, signaling a dip in volume following his transition from Seattle to Pittsburgh this past offseason. The Steelers' No. 1 receiver currently sits at 27 receptions on 43 targets through seven starts, a pace well off the 66 receptions he recorded in each of his last two seasons as a member of the Seahawks. Metcalf has offset the decreased usage with improved red-zone prowess, matching the five touchdowns he recorded in 2024 in less than half of the games played. The total package is good enough to warrant starting consideration in the majority of fantasy formats heading into next Sunday's tilt against Indianapolis.
Oct 17, 2025
Relatively quiet in Week 7 loss
Metcalf brought in three of five targets for 50 yards in the Steelers' 33-31 loss to the Bengals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
On a night when Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins mostly stole the headlines in conjunction with Joe Flacco, Metcalf was almost a forgotten man, even on his own team to an extent. While the star wideout's yardage total was second on the night for the Steelers, he wasn't on the receiving end of any of Aaron Rodgers' quartet of scoring tosses, which all sent to tight ends. Nevertheless, Metcalf and Rodgers have already flashed plenty of strong chemistry early on in their working relationship, as evidenced by the 22-406-4 receiving line on 36 targets Metcalf will take into a Week 8 home matchup against the Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 26.
Oct 12, 2025
Solid showing against Cleveland
Metcalf recorded four receptions on nine targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-9 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf remained Aaron Rodgers' top target, leading the team in targets and yards. All four of his catches went for 20 yards or more, highlighted by a 25-yard score down the right sideline to kick off the fourth quarter. Even with an additional missed opportunity for a long touchdown due to an underthrow by Aaron Rodgers, Metcalf has found the end zone in each of his last four games and has topped 80 receiving yards in three of five contests to begin his tenure with the Steelers.
Sep 28, 2025
Keeps finding end zone
Metcalf recorded five receptions on five targets for 126 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf found the end zone in his third straight game while also tallying his first 100-yard receiving game as a Steeler. He did the majority of his damage on an 80-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, which came nearly entirely after the catch. Metcalf continues to be Aaron Rodgers' favorite target among the downfield pass catchers, and he has at least 80 receiving yards in half of his four games in the campaign.
Sep 21, 2025
Hauls in TD against Pats
Metcalf caught three of four targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout continues to build chemistry with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers, bringing down a 12-yard jump ball early in the second quarter -- a score that moved Rodgers past Brett Favre into fourth place on the NFL's career passing TD list. Metcalf has found the end zone in back-to-back games, but he isn't yet seeing the target volume as a Steeler that he was accustomed to in Seattle. He'll take a 10-135-2 line on 17 targets into a Week 4 clash with the Vikings.
Sep 14, 2025
First TD as Steeler
Metcalf recorded three receptions on six targets for 20 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers' passing attack took a significant step backward relative to Week 1, and Metcalf's output fell accordingly. He still led the team with six targets, though his longest gain went for only nine yards. Metcalf managed to salvage his day with a leaping two-yard touchdown shortly before halftime for his first score as a Steeler, though it was otherwise a forgettable performance.
Sep 7, 2025
Racks up 83 yards in Steelers debut
Metcalf recorded four receptions on seven targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 34-32 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf led the Steelers in targets and yards in his debut with the team, with the majority of his production coming after the catch. He logged long gains of 31 and 23 yards on quick screens in the first quarter before working over the middle for an 18-yard gain late in the third quarter. Jonnu Smith and Calvin Austin were also heavily targeted in the offense, so Metcalf may have inconsistent results. However, he had a strong Week 1 performance with his new team.
Jun 13, 2025
Building chemistry with Rodgers
Metcalf said at mandatory minicamp that while establishing a rapport with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the veteran signal-caller's "playmaking ability after a play breaks down" and "how quickly he releases the ball" have both stood out, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Since being dealt to Pittsburgh and signing a five-year, $150 million deal with his new team, Metcalf's outlook has improved significantly. The Steelers' signing of Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal provides Metcalf with short-term stability at quarterback, plus a signal-caller with the necessary timing to complement the strengths of his route tree. Moreover, the decision to trade George Pickens to Dallas leaves Metcalf entrenched as the unquestioned top target in the Steelers' passing game, with all of Robert Woods, Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson and TE Pat Freiermuth as ancillary options. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith also indicated that his usual run-heavy tendencies could shift in 2025, saying "we didn't bring [Rodgers] in here and sign [Metcalf] for all that money to go run the wishbone," and that "you try to play to the strengths of your team."
Mar 9, 2025
Dealt to Pittsburgh
Metcalf was traded to the Steelers in exchange for a second round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, before signing five-year, $150 million contract Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf will officially have his trade request granted, heading to Pittsburgh after six seasons with the Seahawks. The wide receiver is coming off of a 2024 campaign in which he caught 66 of 108 targets for 992 yards and five touchdowns over 15 regular-season contests with Seattle. The 27-year-old will now be under contract through the 2030 season, earning the largest contract for a non-quarterback in Pittsburgh's franchise history. As it sits right now, the Steelers do not have any quarterbacks under contract for the 2025 season, but it's possible that Metcalf reunites with his former teammate Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh.
Mar 5, 2025
Requests trade
Metcalf has requested a trade from the Seahawks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN report.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Metcalf, who has one year left on his contract, would like a new deal, while Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that Seattle is inclined to explore trading the wideout. On the heels of recording a 66/992/5 receiving line in 15 regular-season games, the 27-year-old figures to draw ample interest from teams looking to add an impact pass-catcher ahead of the 2025 NFL campaign. Prior to Wednesday's news that Metcalf is seeking a trade, it was also revealed that the Seahawks intend to move on from fellow wide receiver Tyler Lockett.
Jan 5, 2025
Finishes down year on high note
Metcalf caught three of five targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-25 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf gave managers still competing in Week 18 a solid fantasy score after a rough go of things in the second half of the season. The physical wideout finished just eight yards shy of his fourth 1,000-yard campaign, while finishing with a career-low five touchdowns. After being involved in potential trade rumors in the final year of his current deal with Seattle-- coupled with the emergence of WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba -- it wouldn't be a shock to see Metcalf donning different team colors in 2025. Wherever he winds up calling home this upcoming offseason, it is clear that the 26-year-old Metcalf still possesses big-play ability if he can operate as a team's top option.
Dec 26, 2024
Three grabs in low-scoring victory
Metcalf brought in all three targets for 42 yards in the Seahawks' 6-3 win over the Bears on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf finished second in receiving yards to Noah Fant and tied with multiple teammates for that slotting in receptions as well. The veteran receiver also drew a personal foul penalty late in the second quarter for an altercation with the Bears' Tyrique Stevenson in which he headbutted the cornerback, costing his team 15 yards on a drive that nevertheless ended in a field goal. Metcalf has maxed out at four receptions in six straight contests, but he could have a bigger role in a Week 18 road showdown with the Rams that may decide the NFC West.
Dec 22, 2024
Breaks scoreless streak Sunday
Metcalf had three receptions on seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks continued to manage Metcalf's lingering shoulder injury during the practice week, but it did not affect his availability for Sunday's contest. The physical wideout finally hit pay dirt with a 25-yard grab in the second quarter after scoring his last touchdown back in Week 7. Metcalf has fallen out of favor to Jaxon Smith-Njigba as Geno Smith's favorite target in the second half of the season, so it was encouraging for fantasy managers to see their guy get back in the mix despite finishing behind JSN in receiving yet again. The 27-year-old Metcalf will attempt to build off this positive performance against the Bears on Thursday Night Football in Week 17.
Dec 19, 2024
Full participant Thursday
Metcalf (shoulder) was a full practice participant Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf followed up Wednesday's absence with full participation one day later, setting him up to continue to play through a shoulder issue for a fourth consecutive contest. In the previous three outings, he gathered in 11 of 18 targets for 143 yards and no touchdowns.
Dec 18, 2024
DNP on Wednesday
Metcalf (shoulder) was a non-participant in practice Wednesday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For a fourth week in a row, Metcalf is tending to a shoulder injury, but he's been able to suit up in each of the past three games en route to a 11-143-0 line on 18 targets during that span. How much work, if any, he's able to handle Thursday and Friday likely will determine whether he goes into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Vikings.
Dec 16, 2024
Limited to three receptions Sunday
Metcalf collected all three of his targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf actually finished as Seattle's second-leading receiver despite seeing his fewest targets to date in 2024. That statistic highlights how poor of a passing performance Geno Smith (knee) and Sam Howell combined for against the Packers' rabid defense. Metcalf has taken a backseat to Jaxon Smith-Njigba (10-83-0) in the second half of the season, but the former still holds fantasy value heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Vikings.
Dec 13, 2024
Cleared to play
Metcalf (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf played through the same injury the past couple weeks and handled his normal workload in wins over the Jets and Cardinals. He's caught at least four passes for 49-plus yards in four straight games since returning from a knee injury but hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 7.
Dec 12, 2024
Still dealing with shoulder issue
Metcalf (shoulder) was limited at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf now has had his practice reps impacted for a third consecutive week due to a shoulder issue, but he still was able to play Weeks 13 and 14, combining for eight catches (on 15 targets) for 115 yards and no touchdowns. Friday's injury report may provide some clarity regarding his status ahead of Sunday's contest against the Packers.
Dec 8, 2024
Gains 49 yards on four catches
Metcalf had four receptions (six targets) for 49 yards in Sunday's 30-18 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf finished second in targets behind running back Zach Charbonnet (seven) while checking in third in receiving yards behind fellow wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The 27-year-old Metcalf's modest production out of the team's Week 10 bye may have fantasy managers concerned, but the wideout has maintained a high floor of 4.8 receptions and 61.0 yards during the mild four-game cold spell. Keep faith in Metcalf, as the Seahawks may require more from their receivers at home against Green Bay next Sunday.
Dec 6, 2024
Cleared to play
Metcalf (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Arizona, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
His downgrade from limited participation Wednesday to non-participation Thursday appears to have been about maintenance rather than indicating any kind of setback. Metcalf played through the same shoulder injury last week after missing two practices, catching four of nine targets for 66 yards in a 26-21 win over the Jets.
Dec 5, 2024
Downgrades to DNP on Thursday
Metcalf (shoulder) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf tended to a knee injury during this past Sunday's win at the Jets, but it wasn't the reason his practice reps have been impacted during Week 14 prep. Instead, the shoulder issue that sidelined him for the first two sessions last week has left him limited this Wednesday and a DNP one day later. As such, Metcalf's listing on Friday's injury report will be of keen interest in advance of Sunday's game in Arizona.
Dec 4, 2024
Still bothered by shoulder issue
Metcalf was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was absent for two plays during this past Sunday's win at the Jets due to a knee issue, which he touched on Wednesday. "My foot went numb," he told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. "(A doctor) came over, said what's wrong?" The situation was the result of a nerve in Metcalf's knee getting hit, causing the numbing sensation in his foot. Fortunately for the wide receiver, it was a temporary concern, while the shoulder issue that impacted his practice reps last week continues to bother him. Metcalf will have sessions Thursday and Friday to prove his health ahead of Sunday's game at Arizona.
Dec 1, 2024
Tweaks knee in win over Jets
Metcalf missed two plays during Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jets to have his knee examined by trainers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. "He tweaked his knee," coach Mike Macdonald said of Metcalf after the game. "Then we did a bunch of tests and stuff, and I think he's doing all right right now."
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's prompt return to the game coupled with his coach's postgame comments suggest the injury probably won't affect Metcalf's availability moving forward, but the star wide receiver's practice participation will still bear monitoring as Seattle prepares for a pivotal Week 14 matchup against the NFC West rival Cardinals. He came into Sunday's win nursing a shoulder injury, so Metcalf's a bit banged up for the stretch run. Metcalf's brief two-play absence occurred in the third quarter, and he caught a pass on his first play after checking back in before drawing a key pass interference call on the following drive.
Dec 1, 2024
Four catches in win
Metcalf (shoulder) caught four of nine targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was blanked on two first-half targets but got involved early in the second half, making catches of 28 and 30 yards on Seattle's first possession of the third quarter. He then drew a 20-yard pass interference penalty on fourth down to extend a fourth-quarter drive that culminated in Zach Charbonnet's game-winning rushing touchdown. Despite his slow start, Metcalf finished just eight receiving yards short of Jaxon Smith-Njigba's team-leading total. Up next for Metcalf is a Week 14 road game against the Cardinals.
Nov 29, 2024
Cleared to play Week 13
Metcalf (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at the Jets, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks seemingly were being cautious when they held Metcalf out of practice Wednesday and Thursday. There was no sign of trouble last week, when he led the team in route share (92 percent) and caught four of five targets for 59 yards in a 16-6 win over the Cardinals.
Nov 28, 2024
Remains DNP on Thursday
Metcalf (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks may be exercising caution with two of their top wide receivers, but neither Metcalf nor Tyler Lockett (knee) have logged any on-field work this week, leaving just one more chance to do so ahead of the weekend. Friday's practice likely will be key for Metcalf's odds to be available Sunday at the Jets.
Nov 27, 2024
DNP with shoulder injury
Metcalf didn't practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As the Seahawks opened Week 13 preparations, both Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (knee) are sitting out due to new health concerns. As a result, the team's ensuing practice reports Thursday and Friday likely will be key for who among the pair may be in danger of missing Sunday's game at the Jets. Since returning from an MCL sprain, Metcalf has gathered in 11 of 14 targets for 129 yards and no touchdowns over the last two contests.
Nov 24, 2024
Four grabs against Cards
Metcalf caught four of five targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 16-6 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Offense was at a premium on a rainy afternoon in Seattle, and Metcalf fell short of 60 receiving yards for only the fourth time in nine appearances this season. The 26-year-old wideout has managed an 11-129-0 line on 14 targets over two games since returning from a knee injury, but he'll look to break out in Week 13 against the Jets.
Nov 17, 2024
Solid numbers in return
Metcalf (knee) finished with seven receptions (nine targets) for 70 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf returned from a knee injury sustained in Week 7 to reclaim his starting role in an upset victory for Seattle. The physically-gifted wideout saw his usual allotment of targets (nine) while Jaxon Smith-Njigba (10-110-0) stayed hot with his star teammate returning Sunday. A healthy Metcalf should be considered a plus fantasy play against Arizona next Sunday.
Nov 15, 2024
No injury designation
Metcalf (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at San Francisco, SI's Corbin Smith reports.
ANALYSIS
A Week 10 bye apparently did the trick, with Metcalf managing full practice participation Wednesday through Friday. He should be ready for his usual, near-every-down role in his first appearances since Week 7.
Nov 13, 2024
Full practice Wednesday
Metcalf (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike Macdonald said earlier Wednesday that Metcalf would be limited in his return to practice, per Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. However, Metcalf practiced without a cap on his reps, clearly taking advantage of the Seahawks' Week 10 bye to get healthy. He'll thus be available this weekend for the first time since he sustained a sprained MCL back in Week 7.
Nov 13, 2024
Returning to limited practice
Metcalf (knee) will be a limited participant Wednesday in his return to practice, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf suffered an MCL sprain Week 7 and missed the final two games before Seattle's Week 10 bye. Coach Mike McDonald was optimistic about Metcalf being ready after the bye, and a return to practice Wednesday is the first major step toward playing this Sunday against the 49ers.
Nov 11, 2024
Expected to practice Wednesday
Head coach Mike Macdonald noted Monday that he expects Metcalf (knee) to practice Wednesday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf hasn't participated in practice since suffering an MCL sprain during Week 7 action, but following Seattle's Week 10 bye, the wideout appears to be inching closer to a return to action, with Macdonald indicating that he's "optimistic" regarding Metcalf's progress. Prior to his injury, Metcalf had compiled a 35/568/3 receiving line on 61 targets through seven contests.
Nov 1, 2024
Hopeful for Week 11 return
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald suggested Friday that he's optimistic Metcalf (knee) will return after a Week 10 bye, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf hasn't practiced since suffering an MCL sprain Week 7 and will miss a second straight game when Seattle hosts the Rams this Sunday. An upcoming bye gives him a good chance to avoid a third absence, but Macdonald did seem measured in his optimism and said the wideout needs more time to recover. WR Jake Bobo figures to fill in again this Sunday alongside WRs Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett.
Nov 1, 2024
Ruled out for Week 9
Metcalf (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf will miss his second straight game with an MCL sprain, but he at least has a good chance to avoid further absences with a bye week coming up after Sunday's divisional game. Jake Bobo took most of Metcalf's usual snaps in a Week 8 loss to the Bills but was targeted just once on 24 routes.
Oct 31, 2024
Still not practicing
Metcalf (knee) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has yet to practice since sustaining an MCL sprain in his left knee in a Week 7 win in Atlanta, despite optimism from coach Mike Macdonald on Wednesday that the wide receiver would take part one day later and be able to suit up this weekend, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle. As such, Metcalf has just one more chance to mix into drills Friday before the Seahawks potentially make a ruling on his status ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams. Last week, he went down as doubtful, so getting a questionable tag this week would mark a step in the right direction.
Oct 30, 2024
May return to practice Thursday
Metcalf (knee) won't practice Wednesday, but coach Mike Macdonald said he's optimistic the wideout will return Thursday and then play in Sunday's game against the Rams, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf didn't practice last week and ended up missing a 31-10 loss to the Bills after suffering an MCL sprain the week before. It isn't thought to be an especially severe sprain, but Macdonald's optimism should probably be taken with a grain of salt, especially with a bye week coming up after Sunday's game and then two more divisional games scheduled on the other side of the bye (Week 11 at SF, Week 12 vs. ARZ).
Oct 28, 2024
Could be back for Week 9
With regard to the chances of Metcalf (knee) being able to play this coming Sunday against the Rams, head coach Mike Macdonald relayed Monday that it's "looking optimistic," Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks plan to see how Metcalf looks when he's able return to practice, and then go from there, but at this stage it looks like the wideout has a chance to play this weekend after being inactive in Week 8. In his absence in Seattle's loss to the Bills, Jake Bobo saw added snaps alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett.
Oct 27, 2024
Inactive in Week 8
Metcalf (knee) is inactive for Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The star wideout was trending toward an absence throughout the week, having missed every practice of Week 8 prep after he sustained an MCL sprain late in the Week 7 win over the Falcons. With Metcalf's inactive status now official, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett are set to operate as the top two wide receiver targets for Geno Smith, while Kenneth Walker and Noah Fant could also be the beneficiaries of a slight bump in targets. Meanwhile, Metcalf will turn his attention toward a potential return to action in a key Week 9 divisional matchup against the Rams next Sunday.
Oct 25, 2024
Doubtful for Week 8
Metcalf (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Bills, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf emerged from this past Sunday's win in Atlanta with a minor MCL sprain that didn't allow him to practice Wednesday or Thursday. With an absence seemingly looming for Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett should experience corresponding increases in target share this weekend, while Jake Bobo, Dareke Young and Laviska Shenault will be the other candidates to garner reps at the wide receiver for the Seahawks.
Oct 23, 2024
Won't practice Wed. or Thurs.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that Metcalf (knee) will miss Seattle's next two practices and then have his sprained MCL evaluated on Friday, before the team makes a decision on his status for Sunday's game against the Bills, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's chances of suiting up Week 8 will rest largely on the extent of his participation level at Friday's practice, but it sounds like the Seahawks won't have any updates on the star wide receiver's health until then. It's been reported that Metcalf suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain during Seattle's win over the Falcons in Week 7, an injury of lesser severity, but there's no guarantee he'll be able to avoid missing any time. Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will lead Geno Smith's wide receiver room if Metcalf can't go versus Buffalo, with Jake Bobo also stepping up in three-wide sets.
Oct 21, 2024
MCL sprain confirmed by coach
Coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Monday that Metcalf has a "minor MCL" sprain, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, it doesn't look like a long-term injury for Metcalf, with Macdonald noting that the wideout will do everything he can to try to play Sunday against the Bills. In any case, added context regarding Metcalf's Week 8 status will arrive no later than Wednesday when the Seahawks resume practice.
Oct 21, 2024
Week-to-week with MCL sprain
Metcalf (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's win over Atlanta and is week-to-week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schefter reports it's a Grade 1 MCL sprain for the wideout. Metcalf exited Sunday's win over the Falcons early in the fourth quarter, finishing the day with a 4-99-1 receiving line on seven targets. He was carted to the locker room, and coach Mike Macdonald said afterward that Metcalf's injury "doesn't look too bad," John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. If forced to miss game action, Jake Bobo would be next up for snaps in three-wide sets for Seattle and would be worth keeping an eye on in fantasy playing in one of the most pass-heavy offenses.
Oct 20, 2024
Knee injury not 'too bad'
Coach Mike Macdonald said Metcalf "banged his knee a little bit" during Sunday's 34-14 win in Atlanta, but the injury "doesn't look too bad," John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf exited this Week 7 matchup in the fourth quarter and eventually needed a cart to get to the locker room. Prior to his departure, he reeled in four of seven targets for 99 yards and one touchdown. Considering Macdonald's comments, Metcalf likely isn't in danger of missing any time, but Seattle likely will do its due diligence to ensure the health concern won't impact his availability moving forward.
Oct 20, 2024
Needs cart to go to locker room
Metcalf (knee) was carted to the locker room during Sunday's contest at Atlanta, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After the Seahawks deemed him questionable to return early in the fourth quarter, Metcalf was seen stretching out the knee in question before heading to the locker room on the cart. Without Metcalf's services, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett will headline the team's passing game, with Jake Bobo, Laviska Shenault and Dareke Young the other options at wide receiver.
Oct 20, 2024
Hurt knee Sunday
Metcalf sustained a knee injury during Sunday's game in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit early in the fourth quarter, Metcalf had hauled in four of seven targets for 99 yards, which was fueled by a 31-yard TD connection with QB Geno Smith. Looks will be up for grabs from Smith for the likes of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Tyler Lockett, Jake Bobo, Laviska Shenault and Dareke Young for as long as Metcalf is sidelined.
Oct 11, 2024
Inefficient on 11 targets
Metcalf secured three of 11 targets for 48 yards in the Seahawks' 36-24 loss to the 49ers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's team-high target share largely went for naught, as the star wideout struggled outside of a 30-yard grab. The 2019 second-round pick put together three consecutive 100-yard tallies in Weeks 2-4, but he's now generated back-to-back sub-60-yard tallies over a four-day period. Metcalf's next opportunity to get back on track comes in a Week 7 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Oct 6, 2024
Rough results Sunday
Metcalf finished with four receptions (seven targets) for 55 yards with a lost fumble in Sunday's 29-20 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf had been dealing with a hand injury during practice this week, but he was cleared along with starting running back Kenneth Walker (oblique) prior to Sunday's kickoff. The 26-year-old Metcalf turned in a modest receiving line, but he coughed up his second fumble in as many weeks to hurt fantasy managers. Metcalf was coming off of three consecutive games with 100 or more receiving yards, so GMs should stick with the fantasy stud against the 49ers on Thursday despite Week 5's poor results.
Oct 4, 2024
Cleared for Week 5
Metcalf (hand) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Giants, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf missed a practice last week and was limited this Thursday, but the hand injury doesn't seem to be having much impact on his role or production. He caught seven of 12 targets for 104 yards in Monday's 42-29 loss to the Lions, and he's accounted for 23 percent of Seattle's targets and 43 percent of team air yards this season.
Oct 3, 2024
Limited Thursday with hand injury
Metcalf (hand) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf missed one session during Week 3 prep due to a hand issue, but he otherwise hasn't been hindered in practice until Thursday's capped showing. He currently has a streak of three consecutive 100-yard performances, so how he's listed on Friday's injury report will be of interest as the Seahawks continue to gear up for Sunday's game versus the Giants.
Sep 30, 2024
Leading receiver on MNF
Metcalf had seven receptions (on 12 targets) for 104 yards while losing a fumble in Monday's 42-29 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf overcame an early turnover to wind up leading all receivers in Monday's high-scoring affair. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the star wideout was unable to cash in Seattle's lone passing touchdown after Kenneth Walker punched in three rushing scores. It was still a strong showing from Seattle's No. 1 wideout, who now has hit the century mark in receiving yards for three weeks running. Metcalf will ride this hot streak into a Week 5 tilt against the Giants on Sunday.
Sep 22, 2024
Another strong showing Sunday
Metcalf turned six targets into four receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-3 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf churned out his second 100-yard performance with a touchdown in consecutive games, washing away the memory of a Week 1's poor fantasy output. The physical wideout continues to prove that he can play at a WR1 level in his sixth season with Seattle. Metcalf should be considered a must-start asset heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Lions next Monday.
Sep 19, 2024
Gets in full practice Thursday
Metcalf (hand) was a full practice participant Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf sat out Wednesday due to a hand injury, but his return one day later without limitations paves the way for him to suit up Sunday against the Dolphins. He'll thus continue to headline the Seahawks' Geno Smith-led passing game, which has amounted to 13 catches (on 18 targets) for 158 yards and one touchdown through two contests this season.
Sep 18, 2024
Misses Wednesday's practice
Metcalf didn't take part in Wednesday's practice due to a hand injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After a measly 3-29-0 line on four targets in a Week 1 win against the Broncos, Metcalf broke free this past Sunday in New England, securing a 56-yard touchdown among a 10-catch, 129-yard performance on 14 targets. It's unclear if his current health concern is threatening his availability for Sunday's contest against the Dolphins, but the next two days of practices likely will help give a sense of his chances to suit up.
Sep 15, 2024
Long TD against Patriots
Metcalf recorded 10 receptions on 14 targets for 129 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 overtime win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks got aggressive through the air in Sunday's win, and targets were heavily concentrated between Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Metcalf made his mark on the game early on, striking for a deep 56-yard touchdown late in the first quarter. He had several chunk gains from there to turn in his first 100-yard effort of the season, a mark he managed to top only three times across 15 games in 2023.
Sep 8, 2024
Struggles in season opener
Metcalf finished with three receptions on four targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf fell victim to a run-heavy game script that featured teammate Kenneth Walker (abdominal) breaking the century mark in rushing yards and scoring one of two touchdowns by Seattle running backs on the day. The star wideout will have better games ahead, especially if Walker is unable to suit up against the Patriots next Sunday. For reference, Metcalf had just three receptions in Week 1 of the 2023 season before finishing the campaign with 1,114 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Aug 25, 2024
Records touchdown in preseason win
Metcalf brought in his only target for a 21-yard touchdown in the Seahawks' 37-33 preseason win over the Browns on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba operated as the starting wideouts for Geno Smith on the opening possession Saturday night, and the former was the intended target on the first play from scrimmage. While that throw didn't connect, Smith went back to Metcalf to cap off the crisp 62-yard march, with the duo connecting on a 21-yard touchdown pass. It was Metcalf's only action of preseason, but he's healthy and set for another robust role as the No. 1 receiver heading into a Week 1 interconference battle against the Broncos.
Aug 15, 2024
Unlikely to play in preseason
Metcalf isn't likely to play in any games this preseason, Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said joint practices with the Titans this week will be the best opportunity for Metcalf and other top players to solidify their knowledge of the new offense brought in by coordinator Ryan Grubb. The Seahawks opted for personnel continuity on offense this offseason, apart from some discount signings for the O-line, so they're counting on Grubb to improve a unit that finished middle of the pack in most efficiency stats last year. A faster-paced offense could help Metcalf and other key players score more fantasy points, after the Seahawks finished 32nd, 22nd and 32nd in overall play volume the past three seasons under former head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. There's certainly no lack of skill-position talent, with Metcalf joined by WRs Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, RBs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet and TE Noah Fant.
Jan 8, 2024
Ugly finish to 2023 season
Metcalf was held to one reception for 10 yards on six targets in Sunday's 21-20 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Quarterback Geno Smith was not synced up with his No. 1 receiver despite picking up the win, resulting in the duo's worst catch rate (17 percent) to date. Even with the sour finish, Metcalf turned in his third 1,000-yard season since joining the league in 2019. The ironman missed the first game of his career due to injury, but he started Seattle's other 16 contests to finish with 66 receptions, 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns. Metcalf will continue to operate as the Seahawks' top receiving option when the team resumes play in 2024.
Dec 31, 2023
Tops 1,000 yards
Metcalf recorded five catches on eight targets for 106 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf led Seattle with eight targets and took advantage of a depleted Steelers' safety corps with long receptions of 33 and 32 yards. That helped him tally his third 100-yard receiving game of the season, while also topping 1,000 yards for the campaign. In five pro seasons, Metcalf now has topped the century mark on three occasions and has a minimum of 900 yards in each of those five campaigns.
Dec 31, 2023
Suiting up in Week 17
Metcalf (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks tacked Metcalf on to their Week 17 injury report Thursday as a non-participant due to a back issue. Coach Pete Carroll clarified the nature of the concern Friday, calling it lower-back tightness, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle, which kept Metcalf off the practice field to end the week and also left him questionable for Sunday's contest. At the same time, Carroll relayed an expectation that Metcalf would be available this weekend, and that's come to pass. Metcalf thus will be facing a Pittsburgh defense that has allowed the eighth-most yards per target (8.6) to opposing wide receivers this season.
Dec 29, 2023
Slated to play in Week 17
Coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Metcalf is tending to stiffness in his lower back, but the wide receiver is in line to play Sunday against the Steelers, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf showed up on the Seahawks' Week 17 injury report Thursday as a non-participant due to a back injury, which his coach now has clarified. Officially, the team is listing him as questionable for Sunday's game, per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, but Carroll's comments seems to alleviate concerns about his upcoming availability. In the end, Metcalf's status will be confirmed, one way or another, about 90 minutes before a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 29, 2023
Listed as questionable
Metcalf (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was a mid-week addition to the injury report after sitting out Thursday's practice. Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Metcalf wasn't present at the start of practice Friday, suggesting the wideout is in at least some danger of landing on the inactive list ahead of a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Dec 28, 2023
Dealing with back issue
Metcalf didn't practice Thursday due to a back injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is making a mid-week appearance on the Seahawks' Week 17 injury report after avoiding it entirely Wednesday. Condotta noted that Metcalf wasn't present during the media-access portion of Thursday's session, and the fifth-year wide receiver now will have one more opportunity Friday to mix into drills before the team potentially gives him a designation for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Along with Metcalf logging a DNP on Thursday, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (knee) and Jake Bobo (knee) got back to all activity after limited practices Wednesday, while Dee Eskridge (ribs) again was sidelined, leaving Tyler Lockett as the only established WR on Seattle's active roster to not have a designation at some point this week.
Dec 24, 2023
Misses milestone by two yards
Metcalf had four receptions on six targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's touchdown celebration was delayed after the 11-yard catch was initially ruled an incompletion in the fourth quarter of Sunday's comeback win. Head coach Pete Carroll threw his challenge flag and successfully had the play overturned, which gave the Seahawks' star wideout his eight touchdown of the season. Metcalf finished just two yards shy of recording the third 1,000-yard season of his career, a feat that he could accomplish in the early stages of next Sunday's tilt against Pittsburgh.
Dec 19, 2023
Leading receiver in MNF win
Metcalf hauled in five of six targets for 78 yards in Monday's 20-17 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf saw his usage return to normalcy after finishing with just two catches -- albeit for 52 yards and a touchdown -- in the Seahawks' last contest. The star wideout finished as his team's leading receiver while making a crucial 34-yard catch in the closing moments of Monday's comeback victory. Metcalf will now shift his focus to next Sunday's matchup against Tennessee, who rank in the middle of the pack in terms of pass defense this season.
Dec 10, 2023
Ejected following late dustup
Metcalf was ejected late in the fourth quarter after getting involved in an on-field altercation in Sunday's 28-16 loss to San Francisco. He finished with two receptions on five targets for 52 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was ejected after giving Fred Warner what can best be described as a German suplex after the 49ers' linebacker intercepted Drew Lock in the final minutes of Sunday's loss. This triggered a chain of events that resulted in a mid-field skirmish involving players and coaches that saw ejections for both squads. Seattle did not get the ball back after losing its top wideout, so the ejection theoretically did not affect his final fantasy score. Perhaps Metcalf's frustration boiled over after he recorded all of his production on Seattle's opening drive, only to wind up with three targets and no receptions for the remainder of the game. Expect Metcalf to receive more looks in Week 15 when the Seahawks host the Eagles for Monday Night Football.
Nov 30, 2023
Breaks out for season-best effort
Metcalf brought in six of eight targets for 134 yards and three touchdowns in the Seahawks' 41-35 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf paced the Seahawks in receiving yards on the night with the help of a 73-yard touchdown grab just past the midway point of the first quarter that served as the first of his three scores on the night. The talented wideout would strike again from one and three yards away in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, allowing him to double up his season touchdown tally in a little over three quarters. Metcalf's yardage total also served as a season high, and Thursday marked his first regular-season game with multiple end-zone visits through the air since Week 8 of the 2021 campaign. Metcalf now has at least 94 receiving yards in three of the last four games heading into a tough Week 14 road matchup against the 49ers on Dec. 10.
Nov 24, 2023
Limited to three catches in loss
Metcalf secured three of nine targets for 32 yards in the Seahawks' 31-13 loss to the 49ers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf paced the Seahawks in targets on the night while sharing the lead in receptions with Tyler Lockett. The big-bodied wideout was a victim of Geno Smith's underwhelming night against the 49ers' suffocating defense, with Metcalf's yardage tally also serving as a season-low total. Metcalf and the rest of the Seahawks offense face a second straight tough defense when they tangle with the Cowboys on the road in a Week 13 Thursday night showdown.
Nov 22, 2023
Ready for Week 12
Metcalf (toe) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's contest against the 49ers, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf made his typical midweek appearance on the Seahawks' practice report, only this week he was tending to a new injury. A toe issue was the cause of his absence from Tuesday's walkthrough instead of the hip or rib concerns that previously plagued him this season. With a full listing on Wednesday's report, though, Metcalf now is set to take on a San Francisco defense that has allowed the fifth-highest catch rate (68.3 percent) to opposing wide receivers this season.
Nov 21, 2023
Tending to toe issue
Metcalf (toe) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's injury report, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf seems to be following a similar 'practice' regimen as he did last week, only this time he's dealing with a toe injury instead of the hip issue that's bothered him since Week 6. It's unclear if he may be in danger of being inhibited or even sidelined Thursday against the 49ers, but Wednesday's practice report will reveal whether or not he has a designation for that contest.
Nov 19, 2023
Posts complete fantasy line
Metcalf had five receptions on nine targets for 94 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf wasted no time in breaking his four-game scoreless streak when he took his second target into the end zone on Seattle's opening drive Sunday. The 25-year-old is averaging 96.0 receiving yards over his last two contests while showing no ill effects from the hip injury that cost him the first game of his professional career back in Week 7. Metcalf will attempt to stay hot against the 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 12, but his odds to do so take a hit if starting quarterback Geno Smith (elbow) is unable to suit up.
Nov 12, 2023
Double-digit targets Sunday
Metcalf (hip) had seven receptions on 12 targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 29-26 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Geno Smith looked Metcalf's way early and often after the teammates connected just once (albeit for 50 yards) in last week's blowout loss to Blatimore. Metcalf was not limited by the minor hip injury that held him out of Thursday's practice, receiving his full share of snaps while leading the team in targets receiving yards Sunday. With his health back in order, the speedy wideout will look to build on a solid 35/552/2 receiving line against the Rams next Sunday. Metcalf recorded three receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown when the two teams met back in Week 1.
Nov 10, 2023
Good to go for Week 10
Metcalf (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Washington, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was held out of practice Thursday after a full session Wednesday, and we now have confirmation that his absence was a matter of caution/rest rather than being indicative of a setback. He played more than three-fourths of Seattle's snaps on offense the past two weeks, showing no obvious workload limitations after missing Week 7 with a hip injury suffered Week 6. The production has been less impressive, amounting to six catches for 117 yards on 18 targets the past two weeks and averages of 4.0 catches and 64.9 yards for the season.
Nov 9, 2023
DNP on Thursday
Metcalf (hip) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Metcalf's absence Thursday was attributed to a hip issue, he's likely getting a veteran rest day due to the injury that he initially suffered Week 6 and sidelined him Week 7. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
Nov 5, 2023
One long catch
Metcalf recorded one reception on four targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 37-3 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks managed to generate only 158 passing yards, so Metcalf's yardage total was respectable. The bigger problem was his volume, as he managed only four targets as compared to seven for Jaxon Smith-Nijgba and eight for Tyler Lockett. It was a disappointing step back after he commanded 23 targets across his previous two games combined. The good news is that Seattle is likely to be in a far more competitive matchup in Week 10 against Washington, which should help Metcalf's opportunity.
Nov 3, 2023
Ready for Sunday
Metcalf (hip) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Baltimore, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf followed up a full practice Wednesday with no on-field activity one day later. His lingering hip injury was to blame, but on the bright side he ditched the rib injury that has followed him since Week 2. Now with his status confirmed for Week 9, Metcalf will take aim Sunday at a Ravens defense that has allowed opposing wide receivers to rack up the sixth-most catches (111) to opposing wide receivers in eight games this season.
Nov 2, 2023
No practice Thursday
Metcalf (hip) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After practicing fully Wednesday, Metcalf may be sitting out for maintenance one day later due to the hip injury that sidelined him Week 7 against the Cardinals. On a positive note, the Seahawks haven't listed the rib issue that's followed him since Week 2 on their Week 9 injury reports, indicating he's put that concern in the rearview mirror. In the end, Metcalf may need to log an uncapped session Friday in order to enter the weekend without a designation for Sunday's road matchup with the Ravens.
Oct 29, 2023
Inefficient on 14 targets
Metcalf recorded five receptions on 14 targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf drew double-digit targets for the first time this season, though he still fell below 70 receiving yards for the third consecutive game. The highlight of his performance was a 43-yard grab late in the first quarter on a drive that ended with a field goal. While Metcalf was highly inefficient, he should have better results moving forward if he can regularly command targets at a higher clip.
Oct 25, 2023
Logs full practice Wednesday
Metcalf (ribs/hip) practiced fully Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
When speaking to the media earlier Wednesday, coach Pete Carroll told Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic that Metcalf was slated to be limited at practice. Upon the release of the Seahawks' first Week 8 injury report, though, Metcalf was able to handle every on-field rep. After sitting out this past Sunday against the Cardinals due to a lingering rib injury and an even newer hip concern, he appears good to go ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Browns.
Oct 25, 2023
Remains limited at practice
Coach Pete Carroll said Metcalf (ribs/hip) will practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to sitting out the first game of his career this past Sunday, Metcalf managed just one capped session Friday due to a rib injury that's lingered since Week 2 and a hip issue that he sustained Week 6. His ability to practice in some capacity to kick off Week 8 prep is a step in the right direction, but he likely will need to log all on-field reps Thursday and/or Friday to avoid a designation ahead of Sunday's contest against the Browns. Another absence from Metcalf would result in elevated roles for Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo alongside Tyler Lockett.
Oct 22, 2023
Missing first game of career
Metcalf (ribs/hip) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been able to play through a rib injury that he sustained Week 2, but the hip issue that he suffered last Sunday at Cincinnati impacted him enough to contain him to one limited practice during Week 7 prep. His availability for Sunday thus came down to a game-time decision, and after he went through a pregame workout, the Seahawks' training staff didn't deem Metcalf healthy enough to gut it out for another week. As a result, Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba figure to be Seattle's wide receivers for quarterback Geno Smith.
Oct 22, 2023
True game-time decision
Metcalf (ribs) is considered a true game-time decision for Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is officially listed as questionable for Week 7 and did manage to practice in a limited capacity Friday, but it sounds like the final word on his status won't be made until after pre-game workouts. Seattle will announce 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff whether Metcalf is among the team's inactives. In the event that Metcalf can't go or is significantly hampered, wide recievers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo, plus TEs Noah Fant, Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson, will all be in line to handle increased opportunities.
Oct 20, 2023
Considered a game-time decision
Metcalf (ribs/hip) is listed as questionable and viewed by coach Pete Carroll as a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with Arizona, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been playing through a rib injury since Week 2, with practice restrictions never previously putting his game-day availability in danger. The outlook is at least slightly different this time around, presumably because he added a hip injury during last week's 17-13 loss to Cincinnati. He did rejoin the contest in short order, and his return to a limited practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday sets up a game-time call ahead of the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. He'll face a vulnerable pass defense if he suits up, while an absence could mean more playing time for any and all of WRs Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo and TEs Noah Fant, Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson.
Oct 20, 2023
Listed as questionable
Metcalf (ribs/hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Bob Condotta of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been playing through a rib injury since Week 2 but might actually be in danger of missing a game after he picked up a hip injury during last Sunday's 17-13 loss to Cincinnati. It sounds like he's at least attempting to practice Friday, after sitting out the first two sessions of the week. If Metcalf ends up inactive ahead of the 4:05 ET kickoff this Sunday, the Seahawks could give Jaxon Smith-Njigba more playing time, especially on the perimeter. Other adjustments might include increased use of multi-TE formations and a significant role increase for No. 4 WR Jake Bobo.
Oct 19, 2023
Still not practicing
Metcalf (ribs/hip) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has yet to log any on-field work during Week 7 prep due to a combination of the rib issue that has plagued him since Week 2 and the hip injury that he sustained this past Sunday In Cincinnati. His production hasn't taken much of a hit, though, as he's put together a 22-337-2 line on 32 targets in five games this season. Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Metcalf returns to practice and if he'll enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Cardinals.
Oct 18, 2023
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (ribs/hip) didn't take part in practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's rib injury has followed him since Week 2, and he now has another health concern after hurting his hip Week 6 at Cincinnati. Despite the pair of issues, he logged 77 percent of the snaps in Sunday's loss and notched four catches (on nine targets) for 69 yards. Fellow wide receiver Tyler Lockett was limited by a hamstring injury Wednesday, so the status of the pair will be something to monitor as the Seahawks continue preparations for Sunday's divisional matchup with the Cardinals.
Oct 15, 2023
Underwhelms against Bengals
Metcalf recorded four catches on 10 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Despite briefly leaving the game with a hip injury, Metcalf tallied a new season-high in targets and led the team in opportunities. That didn't translate to a great statistical performance, as even with long catches of 30 and 18 yards he was held under 70 receiving yards for the third time in five games this season. Metcalf's results have at least been in part caused by Seattle's mediocre output as a passing offense, though that could change in a Week 7 matchup against Arizona.
Oct 15, 2023
Checks back in Sunday
Metcalf (hip) returned to Sunday's game against the Bengals for the Seahawks' first drive of the fourth quarter, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Initially listed as questionable to return after checking out of the game in the third quarter to get his hip injury evaluated, Metcalf came out of the locker room and was back on the field for the Seahawks' next possession. The Seahawks should provide an update after the game regarding whether Metcalf's hip issue is something that the team will have to keep a close eye on moving forward.
Oct 15, 2023
Dealing with hip injury
Metcalf suffered a hip injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Bengals and is questionable to return.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf recorded two catches for 30 yards on five targets before heading to the locker room for further evaluation. The Seahawks should have an update on Metcalf's status later Sunday.
Oct 13, 2023
Set to play Sunday
Metcalf (ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Metcalf was withheld from the Seahawks' first two Week 6 practice sessions with the rib injury, his absences may have been primarily for maintenance purposes. The Seahawks haven't yet completed Friday's practice, but the coaching staff is apparently confident enough in Metcalf's health heading into the final Week 6 session to give him the green light for Sunday. Before the Seahawks went on bye Week 5, Metcalf had played north of 70 percent of the snaps in each of the team's first four games, accruing an 18-268-2 receiving line on 23 targets.
Oct 12, 2023
Another DNP on Thursday
Metcalf (ribs) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of the Seahawks' Week 5 bye, Metcalf now hasn't logged any on-field work due to the rib injury that he sustained Week 2. He's been able to play through the pain in the interim and even told Brady Henderson of ESPN.com on Wednesday that "it hasn't been" tough to do so, as evidenced by his 18-268-2 line on 23 targets through four games. Still, Metcalf has just one more chance to mix into drills before the team potentially hands him a designation for Sunday's contest in Cincinnati.
Oct 11, 2023
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (ribs) didn't take part in practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been tending to a rib injury since suffering it during a Week 2 win at Detroit, but he's been able to play through the pain and entered the Seahawks' Week 5 bye with an 18-268-2 line on 23 targets through four games. He spoke on the issue Wednesday, telling Brady Henderson of ESPN.com that "it hasn't been" difficult to gut it out. Metcalf logged smaller snap shares than normal Weeks 3 (72 percent) and 4 (71 percent), so the decreased workloads may have been team imposed rather than him needing more breathers than usual. In any case, he opened Week 6 prep with an absence, giving him two more chances to mix into drills before the weekend.
Oct 3, 2023
Finds end zone on MNF
Metcalf (ribs) had three receptions on four targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 24-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf overcame a minor rib injury he picked up against Carolina last week in order to suit up against the Giants for Monday Night Football. The 25-year-old looked healthy on a six-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter to give Seattle its first points of the evening. That score would have been enough to earn the win against the Giants in a game where they mustered just three points. The one-sided nature of this contest helps explain Metcalf's lack of targets, as the defense and ground game did the heavy lifting Monday. Metcalf will get an extra opportunity to recover from any lingering injuries when Seattle enters its bye in Week 5. The team's No. 1 wideout will be back in action against Cincinnati on Oct. 15.
Sep 30, 2023
Set for Monday
Metcalf (ribs) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Giants, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf posted back-to-back days with full participation, officially clearing the way for the star wideout to participate Monday. The 25-year-old has been the clear-cut top target for Geno Smith and the Seahawks and could be poised for another massive game against a young Giants secondary.
Sep 29, 2023
Logs full practice
Metcalf (ribs) was a full participant at Friday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been nursing a lingering rib injury, but his full participation at Friday's practice is a good sign for his status ahead of Monday's matchup with the Giants. He handled a lower snap share (72 percent) in Week 3 than he did the first couple games of the season, but he now appears to be trending in the right direction. Barring any setbacks, the fifth-year pass catcher is on track to take on his usual role on MNF.

Still managing rib injury
Metcalf (ribs) didn't practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is beginning Week 4 prep as he started Week 3, the result of a lingering rib injury. While he handled a lower snap share (72 percent) this past Sunday against the Panthers than he did in the first two games of the season, he actually put together his most productive performance (6-112-0 on eight targets) to date. It appears the Seahawks will manage Metcalf's on-field reps until he's past the current concern, and the extra day of rest ahead of Monday's road game versus the Giants should allow him to continue to be available to Seattle's offense.
Sep 24, 2023
Tops century mark in win
Metcalf caught six of eight targets for 112 yards in Sunday's 37-27 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year wideout was Geno Smith's top option on the day, although undrafted rookie jake Bobo caught the QB's only TD pass. Despite the fact that he nursed sore ribs in practice during the week, Metcalf topped 100 receiving yards in a game for the 10th time in his career in the regular season. He'll go for his 11th in Week 4 against a Giants defense that just surrendered a 6-129-1 line to the 49ers' Deebo Samuel.
Sep 24, 2023
Suiting up Sunday, as expected
Metcalf (ribs) is active for Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks managed Metcalf's practice reps during Week 3 prep due to sore ribs, but he was able to return as a full participant Friday before the team deemed him questionable to play this weekend. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported early Sunday that Metcalf was expected to suit up, and indeed that has come to pass. There's no indication that Metcalf will be limited by the injury as he looks to build upon the 9-122-1 line on 11 targets he's accrued through two contests this season.
Sep 24, 2023
Expected to play
Metcalf (ribs), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf played through the rib injury for much of last week's win over Detroit before missing practice Wednesday and Thursday. Metcalf was a full practice participant Friday, so this report adds to the notion that he'll play Sunday. However, we won't know if he's officially set to play until inactives are released before Sunday's kickoff at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Sep 22, 2023
Full practice to finish week
Metcalf (ribs) was a full practice participant Friday despite being listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Full participation to close out the week all but confirms Metcalf will suit up after playing through the same injury during last week's overtime win over Detroit. Both he and coach Pete Carroll have consistently relayed optimism about the injury, so there's a good chance Metcalf is healthy enough to handle his usual role when the Seahawks and Panthers kick off at 4:05 p.m. ET this Sunday.
Sep 22, 2023
Should play through Q tag
Metcalf (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina but appears on track to play, according to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf played through the rib injury for much of last week's win over Detroit before missing practice Wednesday and Thursday. It's likely a matter of pain management, which means Metcalf's workload and/or effectiveness could be impacted even if the Seahawks aren't seriously concerned he'll miss the game.
Sep 21, 2023
Second straight DNP to begin week
Metcalf (ribs) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
For most players, back-to-back absences to kick off the week wouldn't be a great sign for a player's upcoming availability, but coach Pete Carroll relayed to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune on Monday that Metcalf likely would "need a couple days" in order to recover from the rib injury he sustained Week 2 at Detroit. In any case, Metcalf will have one more chance this week to mix into drills before potentially getting a designation for Sunday's contest against the Panthers.
Sep 20, 2023
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (ribs) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf emerged from Seattle's Week 2 overtime win at Detroit with sore ribs, which was something that forced him to hit the sidelines for a spell during that contest. He still finished with six catches (on six targets) for 75 yards on an 82 percent snap share. Coach Pete Carroll told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune on Monday that Metcalf would require a few days to recover from the injury, so his absence Wednesday isn't too much of a surprise. Metcalf has two more chances this week to get back on the practice field before the Seahawks potentially give him a designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Sep 18, 2023
Tending to sore ribs
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Metcalf (ribs) is sore following Sunday's 37-31 overtime win at Detroit, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf left Week 2 action for a spell in the first half due to a rib injury but was able to return, playing 83 percent (60 of 72) of the offensive snaps and hauling in all six targets for 75 yards. In the wake of that contest, he likely will "need a couple days" to recover, per Carroll. As a result, there's a chance Metcalf won't be able to practice Wednesday, when the Seahawks kick off prep for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Sep 17, 2023
Perseveres through injury Sunday
Metcalf brought in all six targets for 75 yards in the Seahawks' 37-31 overtime win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf finished with a team-high receiving yardage total despite having exited the game for a time with a rib injury in the first half after being sandwiched by two Lions defenders at the goal line on a catch attempt. Although he wasn't to make a second trip to the end zone in as many weeks to open the season, Metcalf did double up his Week 1 catch total and recorded 28 more receiving yards. He'll next take aim at the Panthers in a Week 3 home matchup.
Sep 17, 2023
Returns to Sunday's contest
Metcalf (ribs) returned to Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was forced to exit the contest with a rib injury but was subsequently able to return. Now that he's back in action, Metcalf will resume a key role at WR for Seattle alongside Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Sep 17, 2023
Exits game with rib injury
Metcalf was forced out of Sunday's game against the Lions with a rib injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Metcalf caught both of his targets for 34 yards. In his absence, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are in line to lead the Seahawks' Week 2 wideout corps.
Sep 10, 2023
Lone bright spot offensively
Metcalf had three receptions (five targets) for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The entire offense struggled in Seattle's home opener Sunday, so Metcalf should feel lucky to escape with such a healthy stat line. The 25-year-old finished tied for the team lead with five targets, making his volume the only concern coming out of an ugly team loss (only two games with five or less targets in 2022). Metcalf will look to build off of a solid start to the season in a road matchup against Detroit on Sunday.
Aug 30, 2023
No preseason action
Metcalf didn't play during the preseason and is ready for the Week 1 matchup versus the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf recorded a career-high 141 targets in 2022, although his efficiency wound up suffering with a career-low 7.4 yards per target. The addition of Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) may eat into his target share slightly, However, Metcalf's efficiency could positively regress by having Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett taking the spotlight off of him. Regardless, fantasy managers should be confident in Metcalf heading into his age-25 season after Geno Smith proved to be the real deal last season.
Aug 4, 2023
Shining in camp
Metcalf had an excellent showing in Thursday's training camp practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf scored multiple touchdowns and made numerous additional big plays. Already established as one of the NFL's best receivers after recording at least 900 yards in each of his first four NFL campaigns, Metcalf is looking to take another step forward in his fifth season. He scored a career-low six touchdowns in the 2022 regular season but found the end zone twice in Seattle's playoff loss to San Francisco.
Jan 14, 2023
Huge wild-card performance
Metcalf caught 10 of 13 targets for 136 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 41-23 wild-card loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year receiver gave Seattle its first lead of the game with a 50-yard touchdown in the second quarter, but Metcalf's second score didn't come until late in the fourth after the team's defense had collapsed. The performance capped a strong regular season that saw the 25-year-old haul in a career-high 90 passes, turning them into 1,048 yards and six touchdowns. It's not clear if the Seahawks will re-sign Geno Smith or look elsewhere for a starting quarterback, but no matter who's under center, Metcalf will provide them with an elite target.
Jan 8, 2023
Struggles to close regular season
Metcalf recorded three receptions on eight targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 19-16 overtime win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf led the Seahawks with eight targets, though he struggled to make an impact on the game. He was targeted on each of Geno Smith's interceptions, but Metcalf also tallied 23-yard reception to help set up a game-tying touchdown early in the third quarter. Seattle's offense performed far better than preseason expectations, which helped Metcalf post the second 1,000-yard season of his four-year career. He'll remain a big-play threat if the team can advance to the postseason.
Jan 1, 2023
Quiet in win over Jets
Metcalf caught one of five targets for three yards in Sunday's 23-6 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
It was a bad day for Seattle's wideouts in general, as Geno Smith's two touchdown passes went to tight ends and the team never trailed in the game, leaving little need to air it out. Metcalf will look to rebound from his worst performance of the season in Week 18 as the Seahawks try to claim a playoff spot with a win over the Rams.
Dec 24, 2022
Leads team in receiving
Metcalf pulled in seven of nine targets for 81 yards in Saturday's 24-10 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was the leading receiver for Seattle on a day where the offense sputtered, producing the only notable fantasy line from the entire receiver group. The Seahawks were without the services of Tyler Lockett (finger), but his absence didn't help or hurt Metcalf's usage. The former has a chance to return in Week 17, which would provide a boost for an offense that has hit the skids in recent weeks. If Lockett can't go, then Metcalf would have to deal with Jets' top corner, Sauce Gardner, by himself next Sunday.
Dec 16, 2022
Co-leads team in receptions
Metcalf secured seven of nine targets for 55 yards in the Seahawks' 21-13 loss to the 49ers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf co-led the Seahawks in receptions on the night and checked in second to Tyler Lockett (finger) in receiving yardage. The star wideout's yardage tally was his lowest since Week 9's 37-yard total versus the Cardinals, but he's now recorded at least seven receptions in three of his past four games going into a critical Week 16 road matchup against the Chiefs, one in which he's expected to see even more work than usual with Lockett expected to sit out.
Dec 11, 2022
Scores in defeat
Metcalf caught 5 of 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf scored with a 12-yard reception just prior to halftime, giving him a touchdown in consecutive contests. The wideout has also gone for at least 70 yards in four straight outings, showing good form while entering the final quarter of the campaign. Despite his recent success, Metcalf has a tough matchup in Week 15, as he'll face arguably the league's best defense in the 49ers on Thursday night.
Dec 11, 2022
Playing Sunday, as expected
Metcalf (hip) is active for Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
After his practice reps were limited Thursday and nonexistent Friday due to a hip injury, Metcalf was tagged with a questionable designation for Week 14. Coach Pete Carroll told Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times following Friday's session that Metcalf's absence primarily was to give him a rest day, but there was an expectation he'd be able to play Sunday. Indeed, that has come to pass, and with the Seahawks backfield down dynamic rookie Kenneth Walker, the offense may rely more on the passing game. Metcalf has been lighting it up in two games since a Week 11 bye, hauling in 19 of 23 targets for 217 yards and one touchdown during that span.
Dec 11, 2022
Expected to suit up vs. Carolina
Metcalf (hip) is expected to play Sunday versus the Panthers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Metcalf is on track to be available, and it appears that remains the case. The star wideout was limited due to a hip injury Thursday then held out of Friday's practice entirely, so fantasy managers will still want to monitor Seattle's inactives when released ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Metcalf is officially carrying listed as questionable.
Dec 9, 2022
Questionable, but on track to play
Metcalf (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, but head coach Pete Carroll said the receiver is in line to play, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers will still want to confirm that Metcalf is active ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but Carroll implied that the 24-year-old is taking a designation into the weekend mostly for precautionary purposes. After he was a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to the hip injury, Metcalf was held out of Friday's session entirely, though Carroll described it as a rest day, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Fantasy managers can probably feel comfortable with keeping Metcalf active this week, after he drew eight or more targets in four of the Seahawks' last five games.
Dec 9, 2022
Gets questionable tag for Week 14
Metcalf (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Seattle could be without its top two skill-position players Sunday, as both Metcalf and lead back Kenneth Walker (ankle) are listed as questionable due to their respective injuries. Metcalf was a mid-week addition to the injury report, after the hip issue resulted in him logging only a limited practice Thursday. More clarity on Metcalf's status will likely come in the hours leading up to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but if the 24-year-old is sidelined this weekend, Tyler Lockett would serve as the clear No. 1 target for quarterback Geno Smith.
Dec 8, 2022
Limited by hip issue
Metcalf was limited at Thursday's practice due to a hip injury, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is making a sudden appearance on the Seahawks' Week 14 practice report, which marks his second known health concern of the season after picking up a knee issue back in Week 7. Since then, though, he's put together a 36-380-3 line on 48 targets over the last five games, displaying his ability to play through the pain. Friday's report will reveal whether or not Metcalf carries a designation into the weekend ahead of Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
Dec 4, 2022
Caps big day with game-winning TD
Metcalf caught all eight of his targets for 127 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
He fell one catch and one yard short of Tyler Lockett for the team leads in those categories, but Metcalf made his mark by hauling in an eight-yard strike from Geno Smith with only 36 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Seattle the victory. It was Metcalf's second 100-yard performance of the season, and he's posted a 25-288-1 line on 32 targets over the last three games heading into a Week 14 clash with the Panthers.
Nov 27, 2022
Leading receiver in OT loss
Metcalf caught 11 of 15 targets for 90 yards in Sunday's 40-34 overtime loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
While he wasn't able to get into the end zone, Metcalf led the Seahawks in catches, targets and yards while setting a new season high in receptions. The fourth-year wideout has a strong 28-352-2 line on 40 targets over the last four games, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 13 clash with the Rams.
Nov 13, 2022
Records 71 yards
Metcalf recorded six catches on nine targets for 71 yards in Sunday's 21-16 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf tied for the team lead in receptions with Kenneth Walker, though he was uncharacteristically limited to short areas of the field. While his longest catch of the day went for only 16 yards, Metcalf still managed a decent day by tallying five receptions of at least 10 yards. Metcalf entered the game having recorded no more than 55 yards in each of his last four matchups, so the bump in production was a particularly welcome sight for fantasy managers.
Nov 6, 2022
Finds end zone in win
Metcalf caught five of six targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
While his longest catch went for only nine yards, Metcalf salvaged his day from a fantasy perspective with a four-yard TD grab in the second quarter. It's the sixth time in nine games he's caught at least five passes, and the fourth-year wideout will look to stretch the field a little more in a Week 10 clash with the Buccaneers in Germany.
Nov 3, 2022
Logs full practice Thursday
Metcalf (knee) practiced in full Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With all activity in a session for the first time since suffering a patellar tendon injury Week 7 at the Chargers, Metcalf has a clean bill of health as the Seahawks prepare for Sunday's contest at Arizona. The same can be said for Tyler Lockett (hamstring/ribs), so the pair will look to exploit a Cardinals defense that has given up the fifth-most catches (105) but just five total touchdowns to wide receivers in eight games this season.
Nov 2, 2022
Officially limited Wednesday
Metcalf (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After Metcalf was carted off the field during a Week 7 win at the Chargers, he eventually was diagnosed with a patellar tendon injury that was believed would force some time away from the field. Instead, he was able practice in a limited capacity last Friday, be deemed questionable for this past Sunday's game against the Giants and actually play in that contest. Overall, Metcalf had a smaller snap share than normal (63 percent) but still produced to the tune of six catches (on 10 targets) for 55 yards and one touchdown. Having a cap on his reps Wednesday is understandable, and he has a pair of sessions remaining this week before he potentially receives a designation for Sunday's road matchup with the Cardinals.
Oct 31, 2022
Scores TD against Giants
Metcalf caught six of 10 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
What a difference a week makes. Metcalf appeared headed for a potentially lengthy absence after he was carted off the field last week with a knee injury, but instead he shook it off, got in a limited practice Friday and then snagged a three-yard strike from Geno Smith early in the second quarter Sunday to open the scoring. The fourth-year wideout wound up leading Seattle in targets on the afternoon, and while his longest catch went for only 15 yards, he didn't appear to be overly bothered by his knee. Even so, expect Metcalf to have his practice reps limited again ahead of a Week 9 clash with the Cardinals.
Oct 30, 2022
Suiting up in Week 8
Metcalf (knee) is listed as active Sunday versus the Giants.
ANALYSIS
There was a belief Metcalf would miss some time after getting carted off the field last Sunday at the Chargers. However, X-rays were returned negative and surgery was ruled out on his knee, he proceeded to log one limited practice Friday, and a game-time decision turned into active status for the fourth-year pro. The Seahawks thus will operate with their typical starting wide receivers Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (hamstring) -- the latter of whom also was questionable for Week 8 -- against New York's 15th-ranked pass defense (211 yards per game).
Oct 30, 2022
In line to play Week 8
Metcalf, who's listed as questionable due to a knee injury, is expected to play Sunday against the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was carted off the field during Week 7 and was initially looking at a multiple week absence. However, the star wideout was able to log a limited practice Friday and is expected to suit up in Week 8. Regardless, it's certainly possible the Seahawks keep Metcalf on a snap count against the Giants, so fantasy managers are still encouraged to look for more updates closer to Sunday's 4:25 PM ET kickoff.
Oct 28, 2022
Treated as game-time decision
Metcalf (knee) returned to a limited practice Friday and is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Giants, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Early signs pointed to Metcalf missing at least one game and quite possibly more, but coach Pete Carroll said Friday that the team has been pleasantly surprised by the wideout's quick progress. Tyler Lockett, on the other hand, reportedly tweaked his hamstring or oblique during Thursday's practice, making him a game-time decision right alongside Metcalf ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday. The Seahawks have Marquise Goodwin, Dee Eskridge and Dareke Young as fill-in options at wide receiver.
Oct 28, 2022
Deemed questionable, looks doubtful
Metcalf (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, but he didn't practice this week and doesn't appear likely to play, according to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.
ANALYSIS
Tyler Lockett (knee) also is listed as questionable, but he's expected to play after managing a limited practice Wednesday and a full session Thursday. Metcalf, on the other hand, seems like a longshot, having suffered a patellar tendon injury in last week's win over the Chargers. While the Seahawks are optimistic he'll avoid an extended absence, Metcalf should probably be viewed as closer to 'doubtful' ahead of Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff, with risk of a limited role in the event he does suit up.
Oct 27, 2022
No practice yet this week
Metcalf (knee) didn't practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf emerged from a Week 7 win at the Chargers with a patellar tendon injury, and while he was pushing to practice as early as Wednesday, he has yet to mix into drills through two sessions this week. With each passing day and no activity on the field, he's trending toward sitting out Sunday versus the Giants, which may be confirmed as early as the release of Friday's practice report. In the event Metcalf is limited or out this weekend, Tyler Lockett will be the clear-cut top option in the Seahawks' passing attack, with Marquise Goodwin also in line for more snaps and targets.
Oct 26, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Metcalf (knee) participated in Wednesday's walkthrough but won't practice, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was carted off the field this past Sunday at the Chargers and eventually was diagnosed with a patellar tendon injury. While the wide receiver pushed to practice Wednesday, he'll begin Week 8 prep as a non-participant. Coach Pete Carroll told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune that Metcalf "feels a little better" Wednesday, but the wide receiver is "going to be real quiet for the next couple days." Metcalf's availability for Sunday's game is up in the air, but an absence would place Marquise Goodwin and Dee Eskridge into larger roles alongside Tyler Lockett.
Oct 24, 2022
Won't need surgery
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Metcalf (knee) "does not need surgery," Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was carted off the field during Sunday's 37-23 win over the Chargers, and in addition to his X-rays coming back negative, Carroll now says that Metcalf "hurt his patellar tendon some," per John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site, and even expressed a desire to practice Wednesday, though that may not be realistic. While a timetable for Metcalf's recovery remains unclear, it's a relief that he appears to have avoided a worst-case scenario.
Oct 23, 2022
X-rays negative
X-rays on Metcalf's knee came back negative after Sunday's 37-23 win over the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was ruled out due to a knee injury, but he didn't break any bones. Per Schefter, Metcalf's scheduled to undergo further testing after the team returns to Seattle. Those additional tests will reveal the precise nature and significance of the wide receiver's knee injury.
Oct 23, 2022
Won't return Sunday
Metcalf won't return to Sunday's game versus the Chargers due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's departure doesn't include any context, but he nonetheless won't see any more action Week 7, ending his day with one catch (on two targets) for 12 yards. The Seahawks thus will roll with Tyler Lockett, Marquise Goodwin, Dee Eskridge and Dareke Young at wide receiver for the rest of Sunday.
Oct 16, 2022
Struggles against Cardinals
Metcalf recorded two receptions on seven targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 19-9 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf had been showing strong chemistry with Geno Smith in recent games, but he struggled to produce against the Cardinals. Despite tying for the team lead in targets, he finished third on the team in receiving yards. Positively, Metcalf has a secure role among the Seahawks' receiving corps, as he has earned at least seven targets in five of six games this season.
Oct 9, 2022
Long touchdown in loss
Metcalf tallied five receptions on eight targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-32 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf did the majority of his damage on a 50-yard touchdown reception midway through the first quarter. He also appeared to have a 32-yard score early in the second half, but it was nullified by a holding call. Metcalf also lost a fumble, so it wasn't a perfect effort. On the other hand, he has put his big-play ability on full display in the last two weeks, recording five receptions of 20 yards or more and two of more than 40 yards.
Oct 2, 2022
Paces pass catchers in win
Metcalf secured seven of 10 targets for 149 yards in the Seahawks' 48-45 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf produced team-high figures in receptions, receiving yards and targets, with a 54-yard grab the highlight of his performance. The trademark effort made up for a slow start to the season for Metcalf, who'd topped out at seven receptions and 64 yards in terms of his individual game highs over the first three weeks of the campaign. With his first 100-yard effort of 2022 now under his belt, Metcalf will look to put together a successful encore in a Week 5 road battle versus the Saints.
Sep 25, 2022
Hits pay dirt in loss
Metcalf had five receptions (12 targets) for 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was finally able to turn in a strong fantasy performance with Geno Smith at the helm after totaling just 71 yards and no touchdowns through Seattle's first two games. The lack of efficiency (42 percent catch rate) from the quarterback/wideout duo is concerning projecting forward, but fantasy managers have to be pleased with the end results after a pair of duds to start the season. Metcalf will look to build off of this positive performance in a favorable matchup against the Lions next Sunday.
Sep 18, 2022
Four grabs in Week 2 loss
Metcalf caught four of six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 27-7 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight game, Metcalf saw solid volume from Geno Smith but it failed to translate into much production. The entire Seattle offense struggled in this one, however, and the team's only score came on a blocked field goal that got returned to the end zone by Mike Jackson. Metcalf had more success last year with Smith under center, catching 14 passes on 18 targets for 197 yards and three TDs in the QB's three starts, and the talented wideout could break out in Week 3 against a Falcons defense that has already given up huge games to Cooper Kupp (11-108-2), Jarvis Landry (7-114-0) and Michael Thomas (5-57-2) this season.
Sep 13, 2022
Catches all seven MNF targets
Metcalf caught all seven of his targets for 36 yards and lost a fumble in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
One play after showing off his hands and strength to pluck the ball out of the air for a 15-yard gain on 3rd-and-10, Metcalf got greedy on a short pass and had the ball punched out as he was fighting for extra yardage. That fumble was sandwiched between a pair of Broncos fumbles inside Seattle's five-yard line, so Metcalf's miscue didn't wind up costing his team. Big downfield plays could be rare for Metcalf in a conservative Seattle offense helmed by Geno Smith, but the athletic wide receiver was the top option in the passing game, as no teammate saw more than four targets. Metcalf and the Seahawks will face the 49ers in Week 2.
Aug 27, 2022
Rests during preseason finale
Metcalf didn't play in Friday's 27-26 preseason loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Tyler Lockett played, but Metcalf took the night off as he prepares for the Week 1 matchup against the Broncos. The night was still eventful for the star receiver, as Geno Smith was named the starting quarterback for the season opener. Metcalf had a solid connection with Smith last season, as he totaled 14 catches for 197 yards and three touchdowns during the three games that Smith started.
Aug 18, 2022
Plays one series Thursday
Metcalf played the opening series of Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears but wasn't targeted.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf got his feet wet after sitting out Seattle's preseason opener, but he was used sparingly, as the Seahawks' immediate goal for Metcalf is just to keep him healthy heading into the regular season. Metcalf may see more significant action in the Aug. 26 preseason finale in Dallas so that he can build a rapport with Geno Smith or Drew Lock (COVID-19) before the games start to count.
Aug 13, 2022
Doesn't play in preseason opener
Metcalf didn't play during the Seahawks' 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf signed a three-year extension with Seattle in late July, but he was held off the field during Saturday's preseason opener since the Seahawks elected to rest some of their starters. It's not yet clear whether the 24-year-old will see the field at all during the preseason, but his fantasy potential in 2022 is somewhat dependent on the play of Geno Smith or Drew Lock after Russell Wilson was traded to Denver during the offseason.
Jul 28, 2022
Signs three-year extension
Metcalf has agreed to terms on a three-year, $72 million extension with the Seahawks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the wideout's deal includes $58.2 million guaranteed, with a $30 million signing bonus. With coach Pete Carroll having noted Wednesday that Metcalf -- who is bouncing back from a foot injury -- had passed his physical, look for the 2019 second-rounder to return to practice in short order. Heading into the 2022 season, Metcalf and Tyler Lockett remain entrenched as Seattle's top wideouts, but with Russell Wilson no longer in the mix, the duo are in line to be catching passes from either Geno Smith or Drew Lock come Week 1.

Moves past foot issue
Coach Pete Carroll acknowledged Wednesday that Metcalf's winter foot surgery is not the reason the wideout isn't participating in training camp practices, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle, Metcalf has indeed passed his physical, but for now the 2019 second-rounder, who logged a 75/967/12 stat line last season -- is sitting out practice while his contract is being worked on. On the plus side, Carroll hinted at progress on that front, which suggests that Metcalf could be back on the field with his teammates before too long.
Jul 27, 2022
Not practicing quite yet
Metcalf (foot) is present at Wednesday's practice but isn't participating, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
The decision to keep Metcalf off the PUP list suggests he has a chance to practice in some capacity during the early part of training camp. No setbacks have been reported since his foot surgery in March, with the bigger issue for fantasy being a poor QB situation in Seattle.
Jul 26, 2022
Reports for training camp
Metcalf (foot) was present for the first day of Seattle's training camp Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf skipped mandatory minicamp in June, and there had been some speculation that he would hold out for a new contract, but his appearance at training camp suggests the star wide receiver will not be holding out. It isn't clear whether he will be able to practice with the team immediately, as Metcalf has been recovering from foot surgery. Metcalf wasn't among the initial wave of Seahawks placed on the active/PUP list, which likely indicates that he isn't expected to miss much, if any, practice time.
Jun 7, 2022
Not present for minicamp
Metcalf (foot) isn't present for the start of Seahawks' mandatory minicamp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapoport adds that Metcalf continues to rehab from a surgically repaired left foot in Los Angeles while Seattle begins mandatory minicamp. The star wideout is entering the final year of his rookie deal and may be displeased with the lack of an extension, but his presence at voluntary workouts in May suggests otherwise. Regardless, even if he was present, Metcalf likely wouldn't be able to practice anyways, so the ramifications of his absence remain unclear to this point.
May 2, 2022
Ditches walking boot
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Saturday that Metcalf no longer is using a walking boot to protect his surgically repaired left foot, Liz Mathews of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Carroll also noted that Metcalf has resumed running, though presumably not yet at 100 percent after he underwent foot surgery in February. The 24-year-old is expected to continue his rehab into the spring, so he may not be fully cleared before OTAs come to an end. Metcalf should be at or near full strength by training camp in late July, if not minicamp in mid-June, when he and Tyler Lockett will headline a new-look Seattle passing game that will be helmed by a yet-to-be-determined starter following Russell Wilson's move to Denver earlier in the offseason. The Seahawks didn't add to the position group through the draft over the weekend, tentatively leaving Drew Lock, Geno Smith and Jacob Eason to compete for the starting job.
Apr 21, 2022
No extension talks yet
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks haven't directly addressed the issue of a new contract for Metcalf, who showed up for the start of the voluntary offseason program while continuing his rehab from foot surgery, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
It wouldn't have been a surprise if Metcalf hadn't reported, considering he's rehabbing from surgery and oft-mentioned in trade rumors as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. He'll likely miss spring practices after foot surgery this winter, but the 24-year-old wideout should be ready for training camp and Week 1
Mar 29, 2022
Extension not yet being discussed
Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday when asked about a potential contract extension for Metcalf (foot) "we have not gotten to that topic yet specifically because we've got so many other things going on," Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and with longtime franchise leader Russell Wilson having been traded to the Broncos, Seattle's roster is no doubt facing a transition to a new era. Carroll did say that the Seahawks "intend for [Metcalf] to be with us" for the long-term, but at least in the early stages of the offseason, it appears that extending the 2019 second-round pick hasn't ranked atop the team's list of priorities. Per Condotta, Carroll appeared to indicate that extensions will be dealt with after the free agency period has completely run its course. For the time being Drew Lock stands atop the depth chart, but it seems likely that Seattle will add more options to the quarterback room via trade, free agency, or April's draft, in which the team holds the No. 9 overall pick.
Mar 9, 2022
QB downgrade in contract year
Metcalf (foot) will likely have a downgrade at quarterback in 2022 after the Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf took a step back last year but still managed to post a 75-967-12 line through 17 games despite dealing with a lingering foot injury for most of the season. Head coach Pete Carroll said last week that Metcalf underwent a minor offseason procedure in February to remove a screw from his left foot, but the 24-year-old wideout should be good to go for training camp, if not OTAs. The bigger concern is the changing of the guard at quarterback and the Seahawks' commitment to a rebuild. Metcalf had a strong connection with Wilson, recording 3,170 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns through his first three NFL seasons. Now, Drew Lock -- who has a career 6.7 YPA and a 59.3 completion percentage -- is seemingly the top QB in Seattle for now, though the Seahawks will likely pick a QB in the draft or bring one in via trade or free agency. Metcalf may have the pedigree to overcome a severe downgrade at QB, but this likely isn't the type of turbulence he wanted in his contract season.
Mar 3, 2022
Foot procedure clarified
Coach Pete Carroll clarified Wednesday that Metcalf underwent a minor offseason procedure to remove a screw from his left foot, Liz Matthews of USA Today reports. "They fixed a surgery that he had on his foot a couple of years back," Carroll noted of the wideout, whose practice reps were managed last season as he dealt with a lingering foot issue. "They just had to go in there and adjust some stuff in his foot. It bothered him all year long."
ANALYSIS
Though the report doesn't specify when the 2019 second-rounder will be able work fully on the field, the hope is that by addressing the issue, Metcalf will be able to practice on a regular basis this coming season. Despite his foot woes, Metcalf played all 17 of Seattle's games last season, en route to catching 75 of his 129 targets for 967 yards and career-high 12 TDs. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is set to continue to combine with Tyler Lockett in 2022 to form a talented 1-2 punch atop the team's wideout depth chart.
Feb 15, 2022
Recovering from foot surgery
Metcalf recently had surgery to remove a screw from his left foot, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf told Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks that he had surgery shortly after the conclusion of the 2021 season and was on track to conclude his rehab process around mid-March. While he didn't specify, it's likely the screw he had removed in January initially was inserted back in 2016 when the wideout suffered a season-ending foot injury at Ole Miss. He missed a lot of practice time in 2021 with the left foot popping up as an issue again, but Metcalf doesn't think it had too much impact on his performance, nor does he sound especially worried about the rehab process impacting his preparation for 2022. He did have a disappointing 2021 campaign by most standards, albeit with a dozen touchdowns to soften the blow of 336 fewer receiving yards than the previous year.
Jan 9, 2022
Inefficient with 11 targets
Metcalf caught five passes for 58 yards on 11 targets against Arizona on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf generally struggled against the Cardinals the last two years while fellow wideout Tyler Lockett posted big numbers in that same span, so it seems safe to say that there's something in Arizona's defensive approach that makes things more difficult for Metcalf. The entire 2021 season has been more difficult for Metcalf, who played a bit nicked up at several points and otherwise dealt with both injury and general dysfunction at quarterback this year. He finishes with 75 receptions for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns on 129 targets, which is a catch rate of 58.1 percent at 7.5 yards per target -- a huge dropoff from his 2020 season, when he caught 64.3 percent of his targets at 10.1 yards per target. Despite the difficulties of 2021, Metcalf is still clearly a unique talent capable of elite fantasy production. Whether he's in a good spot to do so in 2022 will depend on what Seattle does with their quarterback and coaching situations. It probably wouldn't be good for Metcalf if Russell Wilson left Seattle, but
Jan 6, 2022
Full practice Thursday
Metcalf (foot) practiced in full Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After his typical practice limitations to begin the week, Metcalf was able to handle every rep Thursday. His foot injury hasn't impacted his ability to play on game days, and he's back to being a TD fiend, as evidenced by four scores on his eight catches over the last two contests.
Jan 5, 2022
Begins week with limited practice
Metcalf (foot) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has righted the ship the past two games, gathering in eight of 14 passes for 104 yards and four touchdowns. His score Week 16 against the Bears put an end to a six-game TD-less streak, and with 12 on the season he's set a new career high in the category. But Metcalf again is dealing with the foot issue that has impacted his practice reps for a good portion of the campaign. He'll aim to ditch the designation by the release of Friday's injury report.
Jan 2, 2022
Scores three touchdowns
Metcalf caught six passes for 63 yards and three touchdowns on nine targets against Detroit on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Detroit defense just didn't have the secondary personnel to counter the size/speed threat posed by Metcalf, and he was the main pass-catching beneficiary on a day where the Seahawks scored 51 points. Metcalf's fantasy investors generally needed a game like this a month or two ago, but it's obvious enough that his struggles mostly had to do with Russell Wilson's finger injury. A formidable Arizona defense awaits in Week 18, but hopefully this game helps get Metcalf and Wilson back on rhythm.
Dec 30, 2021
Puts in full practice Thursday
Metcalf (foot) practiced fully Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After kicking off Week 17 prep with no on-field reps Wednesday, Metcalf handled all of them one day later. His maintenance plan has allowed him to suit up for every game this season, but the results have been tepid since the Seahawks' Week 9 bye. Over the last seven contests, Metcalf has put together a modest 25-266-1 line on 53 targets.
Dec 29, 2021
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As he has for much of the season, Metcalf is kicking off Week 17 prep with practice limitations. The trend may continue into Thursday and even Friday, but he likely isn't in danger of missing the first game of his three-year career Sunday against the Lions. In seven games since Russell Wilson returned to the lineup, Metcalf has hauled in just 25 of 53 targets for 266 yards. Fortunately for his managers, he scored his first touchdown since Week 8 this past Sunday versus the Bears.
Dec 26, 2021
Returns to end zone Sunday
Metcalf caught two of five targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
It was another low-volume performance for Metcalf, but he did manage to score his first TD since Week 8 by hauling in a 41-yard strike from Russell Wilson in the first quarter. Metcalf hasn't topped 60 receiving yards in eight straight games, giving him little momentum heading into a Week 17 clash with the Lions, but he needs 146 yards over the Seahawks' last two contests for his second straight 1,000-yard season.
Dec 24, 2021
No injury designation
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bears, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, with Metcalf limited by the injury in practice but still handling full workloads each Sunday. While his weekly ceiling remains sky-high, Metcalf is now at six consecutive games with no touchdown and 60 yards or less.
Dec 23, 2021
Another limited practice
Metcalf (foot) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has opened Week 16 prep with back-to-back capped sessions. Practice limitations have become the norm for the third-year wide receiver since he sustained a foot injury sometime around Week 4. He still managed a 93 percent share of offensive snaps Tuesday against the Rams en route to 12 targets, but those numbers could take a hit with the Seahawks activating Tyler Lockett (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. No matter, Russell Wilson seems poised to have Lockett and Metcalf at his disposal Sunday versus the Bears, assuming the latter is available to the Seahawks offense.
Dec 22, 2021
Remains limited at practice
Metcalf (foot) was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per usual, the Seahawks continue to manage Metcalf's activity level due to the foot injury he's been tending to since Week 4. Despite it all, he earned a season-high 12 targets Tuesday against the Rams, but the elevated workload only amounted to six catches for 52 yards. Assuming he gets out of Week 16 prep without a designation, Metcalf will take on the Bears' fourth-ranked pass defense (205.4 yards per game) Sunday.
Dec 21, 2021
Sees 12 targets in loss
Metcalf (foot/back) had six receptions (12 targets) for 52 yards in Tuesday's 20-10 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
With fellow starting wideout Tyler Lockett (illness) out of action, Metcalf drew the attention of shutdown corner Jalen Ramsey for the majority of the contest. Netting 52 yards on a 50 percent catch rate isn't a horrible result when factoring in the tough matchup, but it also doesn't stand out from a recent string of poor performances either. After a strong start to the season, the 23-year-old has failed to either top 60 yards or score a touchdown since Seattle's Week 9 bye. Metcalf will get another attempt to deliver on at least one of those modest goals in a Week 16 matchup against the Bears on Sunday.
Dec 17, 2021
Cleared for Tuesday's game
Metcalf (foot/back) was a Brady Henderson of ESPN.com in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf is thus in line to play Tuesday against the Rams, after the NFL announced earlier Friday that the Seattle-Los Angeles matchup would be pushed back two days due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within the Rams organization. The two-day delay should have the benefit of providing additional healing time for Metcalf, even though he was never in major jeopardy of sitting out had the game been played Sunday. At this stage, the bigger question is whether Seattle will have fellow wideout Tyler Lockett (illness) available for Week 15, after he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday due to a positive test. If Lockett can't clear the necessary protocols in time for Tuesday's game, Metcalf would be locked in as quarterback Russell Wilson's clear top target.
Dec 17, 2021
Seahawks-Rams moved to Tuesday
Metcalf (foot/back) and the Seahawks will no longer play the Rams on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
ANALYSIS
Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within the Rams organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, Los Angeles will be able to restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. The two-day delay could also provide sufficient time for Metcalf to heal up from the pair of injuries that kept him from practicing Wednesday and Thursday. If he gains clearance from his injuries ahead of Tuesday's game and if Tyler Lockett (illness) isn't reinstated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Metcalf could be locked in as quarterback Russell Wilson's clear top target Week 15.
Dec 16, 2021
Sits out another session
Metcalf (foot/back) was held out of Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has logged more time away from the practice field in recent weeks, primarily due to a nagging foot injury, but a back issue showed up this time around. The pair of health concerns have kept him sidelined, so Friday's injury report will be notable for his status heading into the weekend. With Tyler Lockett's (undisclosed) placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday and reserves Freddy Swain (ankle/personal) and Dee Eskridge (foot) also missing from practice, the Seahawks' receiving corps is in flux during Week 15 prep.
Dec 15, 2021
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (foot/back) didn't practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been dealing with a lingering foot injury since Week 4, and a back issue now has paired with it to keep the wide receiver out of drills to begin Week 15 prep. Despite his health being compromised, he's been able to power through on game days, but his production has waned since the Seahawks' bye. In five games in the interim, Metcalf has reeled in just 17 of 36 targets for 173 yards and no TDs, which followed a 39-580-8 line on 56 targets through the first eight contests of the season. Per usual, his status will be one to watch to make sure he's trending toward active status Sunday against the Rams in L.A.
Dec 12, 2021
Rings up just 43 yards
Metcalf caught four of eight targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf and quarterback Russell Wilson haven't been on the same page this season, as the third-year wideout has posted 60 or fewer yards in six straight games while failing to find the end zone in five of those contests. Still, he has been targeted eight times in four of the past five games, so the opportunities should convert into production soon. Metcalf could be shadowed by All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in Week 15 against the Rams, though.
Dec 10, 2021
Set to play Sunday
Metcalf (foot/illness) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Houston, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf actually missed practice twice this week, but his absence Thursday likely was attributed to an illness versus the foot injury that has lingered for most of the campaign. Now that he's cleared for game action, he'll look to get back on track versus a Texans defense that has given up 8.8 yards per target (seventh most in the NFL) and 11 TDs (18th most) to wide receivers in 12 contests this season.
Dec 9, 2021
Comes down with illness
Metcalf (foot) missed Thursday's practice with an illness, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf already has logged one DNP this week due to the foot injury that has followed him for much of the campaign, which typically is the extent of his weekly practice limitations. With an illness in tow, he fortunately has time to put it behind him in advance of Sunday's game at Houston, but his status should continue to be watched to get a sense of his availability for Week 14.
Dec 8, 2021
DNP on Wednesday
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Since coming down with a foot injury during Week 4 action, Metcalf has logged one session with limited or no activity per week, but it hasn't stopped him from being available on game days. As a result, he'll likely be listed as full upon the release of Thursday's practice report. Metcalf has had stated performances since Russell Wilson returned to action Week 10, hauling in 13 of 28 targets for 130 yards and one touchdowns over the last four contests.
Dec 6, 2021
Five grabs against Niners
Metcalf caught five of eight targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
He tied Tyler Lockett for the team lead in targets, but Metcalf didn't do as much with the volume as his teammate. It was still his best performance in four games since Seattle's bye, and with Russell Wilson also showing signs of rounding back into form, Metcalf could be primed for a breakout in Week 14 against the Texans.
Dec 2, 2021
Full practice Thursday
Metcalf (foot) practiced in full Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from his limited listing on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Metcalf handled every rep as the Seahawks manage a foot issue that has bothered him since Week 4. While he produced no matter who was under center before the team's Week 9 bye -- a 39-580-8 line on 56 targets -- he's managed to haul in just eight of 20 passes for 70 yards and no scores over the last three games, all with Russell Wilson directing the offense. Metcalf and Wilson will attempt to get back on track Sunday against the 49ers.
Dec 1, 2021
Limited again by foot injury
Metcalf (foot) was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated injury report, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been tending to a foot injury for the better part of two months, but he hasn't missed any games as a result. In fact, he hasn't logged below a 71 percent snap share in any contest and is coming off back-to-back games with at least a 92 percent share. But his production has waned in three outings with Russell Wilson back in the lineup, as Metcalf has gathered in just eight of 20 targets for 70 yards and no touchdowns. Assuming Metcalf suits up this weekend, per usual, he'll be taking on the 49ers' sixth-ranked pass defense (207.3 yards per game) Sunday.
Nov 29, 2021
Non-factor in defeat
Metcalf caught one of four targets for 13 yards in Monday night's 17-15 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was hardly involved in another underwhelming offensive performance from the Seahawks. In fact, his lone catch didn't come until there was just over a minute remaining in the game. With now three straight outings with under 35 receiving yards and no touchdowns, Metcalf carries a slump into Week 13's matchup versus the 49ers.
Nov 26, 2021
Full participant in return
Metcalf (foot) was a full practice participant Friday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The return to practice confirms Metcalf will continue playing through the foot injury Monday night at Washington. He's played at least 72 percent of Seattle's offensive snaps in every game this year, and he has five or more targets in each contest (but just one instance of double-digit targets).
Nov 25, 2021
DNP on Thursday
Metcalf (foot) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's estimated injury report, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As Metcalf contends with a lingering foot injury, he's typically received one day off per week for maintenance purposes. But even with Russell Wilson back in the fold the past two games, Metcalf has put up back-to-back modest performances, combining for seven catches (on 16 targets) for 57 yards and one touchdowns after putting up a 39-580-8 line of 56 targets prior to the Seahawks' Week 9 bye. Assuming he's out there Sunday at Washington, Metcalf have a chance to bounce back against a defense that has allowed the fifth-most TDs (13) and ninth-highest YPT (8.6) to wide receivers this season.
Nov 21, 2021
Struggles continue
Metcalf caught four passes for 31 yards on eight targets against Arizona on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf managed to produce well enough while Geno Smith subbed for Russell Wilson (finger) earlier this year, but since Wilson's return Metcalf hasn't been able to make his customary impact. He dealt with similar struggles against the Packers in Week 10 (three catches for 26 yards on eight targets), so after two weeks of similar struggles it seems that Wilson might need to make progress with his finger injury before he and Metcalf can get back on the same page. It would be great if Wilson could turn a corner this week so that he and Metcalf can capitalize on a favorable Week 12 matchup against Washington.
Nov 18, 2021
Puts in full practice Thursday
Metcalf (foot) practiced in full Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks got Metcalf's weekly absence out of the way early this week, as he followed up Wednesday's DNP with all drills Thursday. With his foot injury not an issue, he can prepare for Sunday's matchup with a Cardinals defense that has allowed the third-lowest YPT (6.9) but second-most touchdowns (14, tied with the Titans) to wide receivers this season.
Nov 17, 2021
No practice Wednesday
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has had regular absences from practice since Week 4 as he deals with a lingering foot injury. Typically, though, the DNP happens during the second session of the week, so it'll be interesting to see how he progresses through Thursday and Friday. He's coming off a season-worst 3-26-0 line on eight targets this past Sunday at Green Bay, even with Russell Wilson (right finger) back under center. Metcalf also is facing a likely fine and not a suspension for reentering the contest after his late disqualification. While that sequence doesn't appear to be threatening his availability for Week 11 action, his health very well could be.
Nov 15, 2021
Likely facing fine, not suspension
The NFL is likely to fine Metcalf, not suspend him, for his actions at the end of Sunday's 17-0 loss in Green Bay, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was ejected after a scuffle with two Packers, then attempted to join Seattle's huddle anyway. It didn't work, and he's now looking at his third fine of the season as he prepares for a Week 11 home game against the Cardinals. Metcalf caught just three of eight targets for 26 yards in Russell Wilson's first back from injured reserve, after catching 14 of 18 targets for 197 yards and three touchdowns in three Geno Smith starts. Overall, the 6-4 wideout accounts for eight of Seattle's 15 receiving TDs and 32.1 percent of team receiving yards through nine games.
Nov 14, 2021
Ugly showing
Metcalf caught three passes for 26 yards on eight targets against Green Bay on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf could have had a big day if Russell Wilson hadn't been such a mess -- there's no doubt that the Packers corners can't keep up with Metcalf -- but his unfortunate box score was compounded by an on-field meltdown late in the game where he committed a flagrant facemask-related offense, one that got him thrown out. Assuming there isn't any further disciplining around him as a result of his antics late in the game, Metcalf will try to bounce back against the Cardinals in Week 11, though that might depend less on Metcalf's play than the condition of Wilson's throwing hand, which evidently wasn't good enough in this one.
Nov 12, 2021
Cleared to play, gets Wilson back
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has mostly managed to stay productive this year, despite dealing with a foot injury since Week 4 and Geno Smith since Week 5. The star wideout is now set to get Russell Wilson (finger) back in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Packers, restoring Metcalf to his familiar status as a weekly top-10 fantasy option at wide receiver.
Nov 11, 2021
No practice Thursday, per usual
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Thursday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been tending to a foot injury since Week 4 prep and recently has received the second practice of each week off. The pattern has repeated itself Week 10, with coach Pete Carroll telling Condotta on Wednesday, "He's ready to go and ready to practice, so we are still working with him and making sure that we are taking care of him." If Metcalf follows the same routine from past weeks, he'll enter the weekend without a designation.
Oct 31, 2021
Scores twice in win
Metcalf caught all six of his targets for 43 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-7 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
While Tyler Lockett was the focal point of Geno Smith's passing attack with 12 catches for 142 yards, Metcalf managed to cash in with two touchdowns (one in each half). The third-year wideout didn't have a reception of more than 16 yards, as his average depth of target has taken a severe hit with Smith under center. That could change soon, though, as the Seahawks are optimistic that Russell Wilson (finger) will be back after the bye week for a Week 10 road matchup versus the Packers. But if Wilson's not back, it's at least a positive sign that Smith trusts Metcalf with contested passes at this point.
Oct 29, 2021
Cleared for Week 8
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout has been receiving maintenance days for a foot injury since Week 4. Life with Geno Smith under center hasn't exactly been smooth sailing, but has stayed afloat much better than Tyler Lockett so far. A Week 8 matchup with Jacksonville should help both receivers, while a Week 9 bye gives Russell Wilson (IR/finger) more time to recover.
Oct 28, 2021
Takes seat Thursday
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has received routine maintenance for his foot injury since Week 4, sitting out the second practice both of the past two weeks. If he follows last week's regimen to a T, he'll log a limited session Friday and enter the weekend without a designation for the Seahawks' Week 8 matchup with the Jaguars.
Oct 26, 2021
Rips off huge score in loss
Metcalf (foot) caught two of five targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 13-10 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf owners had a bit of an scare earlier in the week when he popped up on the injury report with a foot injury on the last day of team practice, but the speedster turned out to be healthy enough to suit up for Monday's contest. The 23-year-old rewarded fantasy managers with a career high 84-yard touchdown catch and run after beating his assignment on a go route in the first quarter. Metcalf has managed to stay relevant over the past two weeks even with the sub-par Geno Smith under center, and he will attempt to continue doing so for at least one more game when Seattle takes on the Jaguars before the team's bye week.
Oct 23, 2021
Removed from injury report
Metcalf (foot) was not listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's contest against the Saints, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears as if Friday's practice DNP was purely a cautious measure as the star wideout didn't even appear on the final injury report the following day. The Seahawks have operated under this same cadence with Metcalf in back-to-back weeks so fantasy managers may expect a similar strategy moving forward as the team tries to preserve the 23-year-old's health over the subsequent weeks.

Idle with foot issue
Metcalf didn't practice Friday due to a foot injury, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as a full participant in the Seahawks' first Week 7 practice Thursday, Metcalf didn't take any reps with his healthy teammates a day later. While the downgrade in activity would normally be cause for concern, Metcalf also sat out the Seahawks' second practice Week 6 with the same injury, only to head into the team's game against the Steelers without a designation. Assuming Metcalf's absence Friday was part of a pre-planned maintenance program, he should still be ready to handle a normal workload Monday night against the Saints.

Top SEA receiver on SNF
Metcalf had six receptions (seven targets) for 58 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks offense looked lost for the entire first half of the contest with Geno Smith under center, recording just 76 passing yards through two quarters. Smith and the rest of the air attack finally got things rolling after halftime, but Metcalf was still left with a pedestrian stat line in his first full game with the backup under center. Things won't get any easier for the dynamic wideout next week, as a matchup against Marshon Lattimore and the Saints looms next Monday.

Ready for Week 6
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been dealing with a foot issue for a few weeks now, which limited him Wednesday and kept him off the practice field entirely Thursday. Clearly, the Seahawks don't want Metcalf to take on any undue stress, though he could have used the reps to get up to speed with Geno Smith, who is taking over under center with Russell Wilson recovering from finger surgery. Despite it all, Metcalf has been his typical productive self this season, compiling a 25-383-5 receiving line on 38 targets through five games.
Oct 14, 2021
No practice Thursday
Metcalf (foot) didn't practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While tending to a foot injury the previous two weeks, Metcalf's practice reps have been managed prior to suiting up in back-to-back contests, so Thursday's absence may be a part of the Seahawks' plan to keep him as fresh as possible. Still, his status will be one to monitor Friday to make sure he's trending toward playing Sunday night at Pittsburgh.
Oct 13, 2021
Stays limited by foot injury
Metcalf (foot) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
For the third week in a row, Metcalf has practice limitations due to a foot issue, and while his share of the offensive snaps Weeks 4 and 5 was bit lower than normal he still put up a combined 9-163-3 receiving line on 13 targets. There's seemingly no worry about his availability for Sunday night's game at Pittsburgh, but his status still should be watched as the week goes on to make sure he's out there Week 6.
Oct 8, 2021
Scores twice in loss
Metcalf brought in all five targets for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks' 26-17 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was a bright spot on a relatively dismal night for the Seahawks' passing attack, posting a co-team-high number of catches while comfortably pacing Seattle in receiving yardage. Metcalf also rang up his fourth and fifth touchdown grabs of the campaign from 19 and 23 yards out in the first and fourth quarters, respectively, with the second score coming in conjunction with backup signal-caller Geno Smith. Metcalf fell just short of his second 100-yard game of the season, but with four touchdowns in his last three contests, fantasy mangers aren't complaining. The second-year wideout will look to keep up the momentum while working with either Russell Wilson (finger) or Smith in a Week 6 road matchup against the Steelers a week from Sunday.
Oct 6, 2021
Clear for Thursday
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game versus the Rams, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Wednesday's practice report marked the fifth in a row in which Metcalf was listed as a limited participant due to a foot issue. Still, he was able to suit up Week 4 and will do so again Thursday. The Seahawks may be without Chris Carson in Week 5 with the running back dealing with a sore neck, so the game plan could be a bit more aerial-based than normal. On the season, Metcalf has been his typical productive self, churning out 20 catches (on 33 targets) for 285 yards and three touchdowns in four contests.
Oct 5, 2021
Limited again Tuesday
Metcalf (foot) was a limited practice participant Tuesday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf managed a foot injury last week, too, when his reps were capped in the final two sessions. Still, he entered the weekend without a designation and logged a typical allotment of snaps (81 percent on offense) on his way to catching four of eight passes for 65 yards and one touchdown this past Sunday at San Francisco. Metcalf will look to do the same in advance of Thursday's game versus the Rams.
Oct 4, 2021
Listed as limited on report
The Seahawks list Metcalf as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report due to a foot injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Seattle didn't hold a formal practice following Sunday's 28-21 win over the 49ers, but Metcalf looks as though he may be slightly banged up coming out of that contest. Even if Metcalf was affected by the foot issue in the contest, it wasn't apparent in his final stat line; he played 46 of 56 (82 percent) of offensive snaps and delivered four receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. Most likely, the Seahawks are taking it easy on Metcalf on a short week, and the expectation is that he'll be ready to handle his usual starting role Thursday against the Rams.
Oct 3, 2021
Salvages day with one touchdown
Metcalf caught four of eight targets for 65 yards and one touchdown against San Francisco on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf wasn't especially efficient Sunday, but the Seahawks offense in generally sputtered a bit against the 49ers, especially early on. It'd be nice to see more life from the Seahawks passing game, but on the other hand it's reassuring to see Metcalf produce even when the offense is off its game. They have a short week to prepare for the Rams defense on Thursday.
Oct 1, 2021
Ready for Week 4
Metcalf (foot) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest in San Francisco, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf made a sudden appearance on Seattle's practice report Thursday, when he was limited due to a foot injury. The health concern won't impact his availability for Week 4, but the same can't be said for Tyler Lockett, who officially is questionable. If Lockett is hindered or sits out entirely Sunday, Metcalf would be in line for a huge share of Russell Wilson's passes.
Sep 30, 2021
Limited by foot injury
Metcalf was added to the Seahawks' Week 4 injury report Thursday, when he was limited in practice by a foot issue, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Through three-plus weeks of the current campaign, Metcalf had avoided being anything but a full participant in practice. Now with a cloud hanging over his status, the Seahawks' group of wide receivers is banged-up, with Tyler Lockett (hip) downgrading from limited Wednesday to no activity one day later, and Dee Eskridge making his first notable progress through the concussion protocol with a limited showing Thursday. As a result, Seattle's WR corps as a whole will be one to monitor closely as the week goes on.
Sep 26, 2021
Busts out in Week 3 loss
Metcalf caught six of nine targets for 107 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout opened the scoring on the afternoon with a 10-yard grab from Russell Wilson in the first quarter, setting the stage for Metcalf's first 100-yard game of the year. He led Seattle in catches, yards and targets, and he might need to come up big again in Week 4 in a tough road matchup against the 49ers.
Sep 19, 2021
Registers 53 yards in loss
Metcalf caught six of 11 targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 33-30 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf's longest catch of the day went for 16 yards, while both Tyler Lockett and Freddie Swain recorded receptions of more than 60 yards. It's worth noting that head coach Pete Carroll said Metcalf was "sore" during the game, and that may have factored into a lower depth of target than usual. Nevertheless, it's promising that he received double-digit targets. The Seahawks draw a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Vikings, who have allowed 661 passing yards and five passing touchdowns through two games.
Sep 12, 2021
Hits pay dirt Week 1
Metcalf had four receptions (five targets) for 60 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Tyler Lockett (100 yards and 2 scores) stole the show from a fantasy perspective, but Metcalf still turned in a solid line. Russell Wilson remains one of the best deep-threat quarterbacks in the league, and without much depth behind his two speedy wideouts, Metcalf and Lockett are likely to alternate big performances on a weekly basis. Next up is a Week 2 matchup against the Titans on Sunday.
Aug 29, 2021
No preseason action
Metcalf didn't play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks kept Metcalf -- along with Russell Wilson, Tyler Lockett (groin) and Chris Carson -- on the sidelines for all three preseason games. Nothing's more important for Metcalf than getting to the regular season healthy after the 23-year-old posted 83 receptions for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns on 129 targets last season. As long as he's healthy, he'll be an elite fantasy option and should be drafted as such.
Aug 21, 2021
May not play Saturday
Metcalf is not likely to play in Saturday's preseason game against Denver, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was doing a lot of work pregame, suggesting that may be the only action he sees on the night. The Seahawks announced that 22 players will not hit the field for the game, though didn't specify exactly who would be sidelined. Other strong candidates to sit the game out include Russell Wilson, Gerald Everett and Tyler Lockett.
Jan 9, 2021
Snares two scores in loss
Metcalf caught five of 11 targets for 96 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 30-20 wild-card loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was only targeted once over the first four drives, and when he was finally targeted again midway through the second quarter, Rams cornerback Darious Williams hopped in front of the pass, intercepting it and taking it the other way for six points. His fate changed on the next drive, however, as Russell Wilson scrambled left and threw a deep pass to Metcalf for a 51-yard touchdown -- the Seahawks' longest play of the day. Metcalf ended up being Wilson's top target, and he added a 12-yard touchdown reception in garbage time. It was overall an electric sophomore season for Metcalf, as he finished with 83 receptions (129 targets) for 1,303 yards -- seventh in the league -- and 10 touchdowns. Metcalf just turned 23 years old in December; there's no ceiling on his upside.
Jan 3, 2021
Shut down in season finale
Metcalf was held to three receptions (nine targets) for 21 yards in Sunday's 26-23 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf waited for the last game of his breakout campaign to post his lowest yardage total in 2020; the 33 percent catch rate was also the worst mark of the year. The second-year stud did cool off down the stretch once defenses began to key in on him -- Sunday's consistent double coverage by the 49ers being a great example of that -- averaging just 52.8 yards per game with one total touchdown in his final five contests after posting impressive marks of 94.5 yards per game and nine receiving scores in the first 11 weeks of the season. Metcalf finishes his second regular season as a pro with 83 catches, 1,303 yards and an even 10 touchdowns over 16 contests. Not only did the physically-dominant wideout take a big leap forward in terms of production, but he has also proven to be a durable asset with no games missed due to injury or illness in his young career. We may be only getting a glimpse of Metcalf's potential as a fantasy wideout as his fundamentals continue to catch up to his physical attributes; it doesn
Dec 27, 2020
Makes six catches vs. Rams
Metcalf caught six of eight targets for 59 yards during Sunday's 20-9 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf led the team in targets, catches and yards, though special attention from the talented Rams secondary limited his total output. His long gain on the day went for just 17 yards and he's now recorded just one grab of more than 25 yards in his last seven games. Metcalf's drop in production has coincided with Russell Wilson's, but the duo has still propelled the Seahawks to the NFC West title. With that said, the star wideout will face another tough matchup as he tries to round into form in next Sunday's matchup with the 49ers, with playoff positioning on the line.
Dec 20, 2020
Quiet in win over Washington
Metcalf caught five of six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 20-15 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf registered just two receptions for 10 yards when the third quarter concluded. The first drive of the fourth quarter was all Metcalf, though, as he was targeted on four of five plays, translating into three receptions for 33 yards. That drive ended early with a Russell Wilson interception, and Metcalf didn't receive another target Sunday. Metcalf finished with his second-lowest yardage total of the year. His lowest total (28 yards) came in Week 10 against the Rams, who the Seahawks face again in Week 16.
Dec 13, 2020
Hauls in 10th TD of season
Metcalf caught six of eight targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-3 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Russell Wilson spread the ball around in the rout, and while nine different Seahawks recorded receptions and four different Seattle players were on the end of TD passes, it was Metcalf who paced the club in catches, targets and yards. The second-year wideout now has a career-high 10 touchdowns on the season heading into Week 15's road clash with a much stingier Washington secondary.
Dec 6, 2020
Can't repeat heroics
Metcalf recorded five receptions on eight targets for 80 yards in Week 13 against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf led the team in receiving yards, though he was unable to replicate his massive Week 12 performance in a tough matchup against James Bradberry. Even so, he supplied some of the Seahawks' most explosive offensive gains, including receptions of 21, 18 and 15 yards. He also delivered his obligatory highlight reel play of the game when he stiff-armed Bradberry to the turf for a 14-yard gain midway through the third quarter. Metcalf could be in line for a huge Week 14 performance against the hapless Jets.
Nov 30, 2020
Dominant in victory
Metcalf caught 10 of 13 targets for 177 yards in Monday night's 23-17 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was nearly unstoppable despite going against accomplished cornerback Darius Slay, who couldn't handle the wideout's superior speed and physicality all night. In fact, Metcalf was the only one who hindered himself, dropping a catchable touchdown during the fourth quarter. The towering target also got tackled at the one-yard line following a 52-yard reception in the second, illustrating how Metcalf's already-dominant performance somehow could've been even better. In just his second season, the 22-year-old has quickly become one of the league's top receivers, and will look to further his stellar campaign in a favorable matchup Week 13 versus the Giants.
Nov 20, 2020
Finds end zone in win
Metcalf secured three of five targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 28-21 win over the Cardinals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Although he fell short of the 50-yard mark for the second time in four days, Metcalf rewarded fantasy managers with a 25-yard scoring grab in the first quarter, his ninth touchdown reception of the season and fourth in the last three games. Metcalf's combined 5-74 line in the last pair of contests represents a low point for him in terms of any two-game period this season, however, so he'll look to revert back to more productive ways during a Week 12 Monday night road matchup against the Eagles on Nov. 30.
Nov 15, 2020
Dismal production against Rams
Metcalf caught two of four targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf predictably drew Jalen Ramsey as a shadow during Sunday's divisional tilt, and the second-year receiver didn't receive a target until the third drive of the second half. He appeared to be open a handful of times in the second half, too, but Russell Wilson simply couldn't find him Sunday. This was the third time in nine games that Metcalf didn't find the end zone. Metcalf will look to get back on track Thursday night against the Cardinals, who have held him to three receptions for 29 yards over three career matchups.
Nov 8, 2020
Fourth 100-yard effort of 2020
Metcalf caught seven of nine targets for 108 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-34 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
If it wasn't already clear, Metcalf is uncoverable. All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White (ankle) shadowed the second-year wide receiver Sunday, but Metcalf produced anyway with his fourth 100-yard receiving effort and eighth touchdown of the season. His ability to beat teams at every level and then run after the catch makes his 2019 second-round draft spot an everlasting head-scratcher. Metcalf will look to stay hot in Week 10 against the Rams.
Nov 1, 2020
Unstoppable in Week 8
Metcalf recorded 12 receptions on 15 targets for 161 yards and two touchdowns in Week 8 against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
After being shut down for 23 total yards in Week 7, Metcalf exploded to top 100 receiving yards for the third time this season. While Metcalf continued to deliver splash plays -- he had a 36-yard touchdown and a 35-yard reception -- Metcalf's performance was notable because of the target share he commanded. Specifically, Metcalf's 15 targets was a career-high mark and only the fourth time in his career that he's been targeted more than 10 times in a contest. While Tyler Lockett and Metcalf will likely continue to take turns as the top receiver in the Seahawks passing attack, Metcalf has managed to rack up 680 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in seven games. He'll look to keep that impressive pace up in Week 9 against the Bills.
Oct 26, 2020
Quiet beside TD-saving tackle
Metcalf caught two of five targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Something about the Cardinals seems to bring Metcalf back down to earth, as he produced just one reception for six yards over two games against the division rivals last year, and the second-year pro was stymied yet again after a brilliant start to the season. While he barely made a dent on offense, Metcalf arguably made the play of the night. When Russell Wilson tossed an interception to Budda Baker at Arizona's goal line, Metcalf chased Baker down and tackled him at the three-yard line, saving a touchdown since the Cardinals ended up turning the ball over on downs. That may have been the finest display of Metcalf's game-breaking speed we've seen to date, and it's a strong reminder of why fantasy managers shouldn't be shooed away by one underwhelming performance. The 22-year-old averaged 99.2 receiving yards per game and scored five total touchdowns before the Week 6 bye, and he'll look to get back on track against the 49ers next Sunday.
Oct 12, 2020
Breakout continues with 2 TDs
Metcalf had six receptions (11 targets) for 93 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-26 win over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf and Russell Wilson teamed up to pick on the Vikings' inexperienced corners for two trips to the end zone, including the game-winning score that sealed a last-second victory to keep Seattle undefeated through five contests. The 22-year-old is proving the draft-day doubters wrong by developing into one of the league's top receivers in just his second year as a pro. Metcalf will carry remarkably-consistent game averages of 4.2 receptions, 99.2 receiving yards and a touchdown per game into Seattle's bye week before taking on the Cardinals in Week 7.
Oct 4, 2020
Second straight 100-yard effort
Metcalf caught four of six targets for 106 yards in Sunday's 31-23 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been the epitome of consistency this season. He's reeled in exactly four passes, recorded at least 90 receiving yard and been targeted six or more times in each game this season. Unfortunately, this is Metcalf's first game without a touchdown, but it's been a fantastic start nonetheless with a total of 403 receiving yards through four contests. He's outpacing Tyler Lockett by a wide margin in the yardage department, too. Metcalf is a must-start fantasy receiver in 2020, especially in Week 5 against the Vikings, who have let up a total of 13 passing scores this season.
Sep 27, 2020
Finds redemption late in win
Metcalf caught four of eight targets for 110 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-31 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
He led the Seahawks in receiving yards on the day, but Metcalf should have had one more yard and one more TD -- on a 62-yard catch-and-run late in the first quarter, he thought he could coast into the end zone but instead got caught from behind and had the ball knocked out of his hands for a touchback. He made up for his gaffe in the fourth quarter, however, hauling in the game-winning score with less than two minutes left on the clock. The second-year wideout has recorded at least 90 yards and a touchdown in every game so far in 2020, and Metcalf will look to keep that streak going next week against a Dolphins defense that couldn't contain John Brown or Stefon Diggs in its Week 2 meeting with the Bills.
Sep 21, 2020
Superb in Week 2 win
Metcalf caught four of six passes for 92 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-20 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf was shadowed by the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Stephon Gilmore, nearly all game. It was a tough battle, but Metcalf can declare a victory, as he hauled in a 54-yard TD pass in tight coverage in the first half and showed off his expanded route tree to snag three more over the course of the game. This is Metcalf's second straight game with more than 90 receiving yards and a score, and if Gilmore struggled to cover him, there will be few matchups that slow him down this year. He's a surefire fantasy start in Week 3 when the Cowboys come to town after allowing 273 passing yards and four scores to Matt Ryan and the Falcons on Sunday.
Sep 13, 2020
Leads receivers in win
Metcalf caught four of eight targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-25 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both garnered eight targets in this matchup, but Metcalf made the most of them, leading the team in receiving yards and finding the end zone on a 38-yard pass on the first drive of the second half. Sticking to his field-stretching form, he caught a 37-yard deep pass late in the fourth quarter, setting up a Carlos Hyde touchdown that sealed the win for Seattle. Metcalf showed off his route-running and speed yet again, and it appears he and Lockett will be in a 1A-1B situation this year. They'll be tested more in Week 2 when they host the Patriots, though.
Aug 7, 2020
Building chemistry with Russ
Metcalf spent a lot of time working out with Russell Wilson during the offseason, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf spent his offseason in good company, also working with 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman and new teammate Greg Olsen. The second-year pro expects to take a big step forward, following a rookie campaign where he put up a 58-900-7 receiving line in the regular season and an 11-219-1 line in two playoff games. His 7.0 percent drop rate was 17th worst among qualified wide receivers, and Metcalf pointed to the drops as a clear area for improvement in 2020. He and Tyler Lockett could essentially operate as co-No. 1s this season, accounting for a large chunk of the receiving production in a Seattle offense that typically stays committed to the run.
Jan 12, 2020
Slows down in season-ending loss
Metcalf caught four of five targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 28-23 divisional-round loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf came down to earth after setting a rookie record with 160 receiving yards in the wild-card round. Despite the disappointing ending, Metcalf still posted an outstanding campaign after being picked in the second round out of Ole Miss, totaling 58 catches for 900 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. The physically gifted receiver will be especially popular in dynasty formats, but he should get plenty of attention in redraft formats next season as level.
Nov 29, 2019
Upgrades to full participation
Metcalf (knee) was a full participant in Friday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Seattle listed Metcalf as a limited participant on Thursday's estimated practice report, so his upgrade to full activity should put to rest any concern about his Week 13 availability. Meanwhile, top wideout Tyler Lockett (shin/illness) failed to practice Friday, so Metcalf and Josh Gordon could be in line for enhanced roles in the Seattle passing attack in the event Lockett isn't ready to play Monday versus the Vikings.
Nov 28, 2019
Limited by knee injury
Metcalf was limited on Thursday's practice estimate due to a knee injury, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf underwent minor knee surgery in mid-August but completed his recovery in time to take the field Week 1 and hasn't looked back, putting together a 38-630-5 line on 70 targets. His current limitations may merely be maintenance-based, with his listing on the Seahawks' next two injury report perhaps clearing up his status before Monday's game versus the Vikings.
