Pineiro converted 23-of-28 field-goal tries and 27 of his 29 extra-point tries over 16 games with the Bears in 2019, and he made all 17 of his kicks while filling in over the final five games of last season for the Jets.

Pineiro was competing with Greg Zuerlein for the starting kicker job in camp, but he was unable to outduel his veteran counterpart. Pineiro will now work to earn an opportunity elsewhere.

Pineiro's first kick of the game was a blocked PAT, but he bounced back nicely, making his next PAT attempt for his lone successful kick of the first half. He was much busier in the second half, converting field goals from 42 and 20 yards out in addition to another PAT. The injury-riddled Jets offense moved the ball well against the lowly Jaguars, but that may not be the case in Week 17 against the Buccaneers, so Pineiro could suffer from a lack of opportunities.

Pineiro made his lone field-goal attempt and converted three PAT attempts in Sunday's 31-24 loss to Miami.

Pineiro has made all seven of his kicks through two games as a Jet. His field goal in this one came from 27 yards out. With the Jaguars coming to town in Week 16, Pineiro could have some sneaky appeal for those trying to play matchups at kicker in the fantasy playoffs.

There weren't many positives for New York to take out of its latest blowout loss, but Pineiro's accurate performance in his Jets debut was a silver lining for a team that's tried three different kickers in its last three games. Pineiro connected from 36, 46 and 36 yards out, and Gang Green's kicking job will likely be his for the remainder of the season if he can build on this strong first impression.

The Jets are signing Pineiro to a contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Pineiro will join New York's active roster just one day after Alex Kessman missed both extra-point attempts in his NFL debut. The 26-year-old veteran could get a shot to see action with the Jets if Kessman's struggles continue.

Pineiro (undisclosed) had a workout with the Jets on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Pineiro opened the season on Washington's practice squad before being let go with an injury settlement, and it appears he's now healthy. The 26-year-old could receive an opportunity in New York if Matt Ammendola continues to struggle.

Washington cut Pineiro (undisclosed) from its practice squad with an injury settlement Saturday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.

After serving as the Bears' kicker during the 2019 season, Pineiro came out of camp last year in the same position, only to hit IR to start the campaign. He remained there all season due to a groin injury, allowing Cairo Santos to handle placekicking duties in Chicago. Pineiro didn't find a new home until May, when the Colts signed him to compete with Rodrigo Blankenship, but he was sent packing in the middle of the preseason. Once rosters were cut down last week, Washington signed him to the practice squad, but an unknown injury has resulted in him hitting the market again.

Pineiro has latched on with the Washington practice squad, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Pineiro will serve as some depth at kicker in the event that Dustin Hopkins is forced to miss some time at some point. He' s unlikely to hold a spot on the active roster during 2021 barring that scenario.

The Colts waived Pineiro on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Pineiro was impressive during the preseason, as he didn't miss a single kick, so he could reasonably draw interest from teams around the league. His departure is a clear indication that Rodrigo Blankenship has emerged victorious in the Colts' kicking competition.

Pineiro made all three of his field-goal attempts, from 31, 50 and 28 yards, in Saturday's preseason win over Minnesota.

Both Rodrigo Blankenship and Pinero have been nearly perfect in training camp and the preseason. Blankenship will likely retain this starting job from last season unless he stumbles however. Pinero could draw interests from other NFL teams if he has another strong preseason game next week.

Head coach Matt Nagy hinted that the Bears could roster both Pineiro (groin) and Cairo Santos, Adam Hoge of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Nagy didn't confirm whether this meant both would be on the active roster or if one would be on the practice squad, but it likely means Pineiro is sticking in Chicago regardless of how the competition against Santos plays out. Even with Pineiro's injury, he's regarded as the No. 1 kicker for the time being.

Pineiro, who has been dealing with a groin issue of late, "hasn't attempted a kick in front of reporters all week," according to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune.

With that in mind, it's not surprising that the Bears plan to sign Cairo Santos to provide insurance and/or competition for Pineiro, who previously had seemed to cement the team's kicking job after Ramiz Ahmed was waived earlier this month.

With Ramiz Ahmed having been waived, Pineiro is the only kicker on the Bears' roster, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

Unless another kicker is brought in by the team, Pineiro will reprise the duties held last season with the Bears, en route to converting 82 percent of his field-goal tries. His fantasy upside, however, is tied to a Chicago offense that may not yield consistent volume.

According to the Bears' website, Pineiro added eight pounds of muscle to strengthen his leg as he prepares to compete against Ramiz Ahmed for the Bears' kicking job.

Although Pineiro connected on just 82 percent of his field-goal attempts last year, he rebounded well from a midseason slump, and strengthening his leg could help him on both kickoffs and long-distance field goals. However, the presence of Ahmed may not be too much of a problem, as Ahmed hasn't kicked competitively since 2018 when he made just 15-of-20 field-goal attempts in his final season at the University of Utah. Regardless, unless the Bears can make significant progress on offense, the team's kicker is unlikely to be more than a fantasy reserve in typical leagues.

Pineiro anticipates competition for the Bears' starting kicker job during the offseason, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "Last year, I had to compete against eight different guys, so I don't think that's going to change," Pineiro said. "Hopefully, it's not eight again, but I definitely expect competition."

In the wake of Cody Parkey's ignominious end to the 2018 campaign, the Bears searched far and wide for a replacement, eventually landing on Pineiro after cycling through nearly 10 options. Through Week 11, there wasn't much of a difference, as Pineiro missed five of 17 field-goal attempts. He righted the ship thereafter, though, making all 11 kicks over the last six games. On top of that, he was relatively clean on point-after tries, making 27 of 29 for the season. Chicago's front office won't be blamed for bringing in a kicker during the offseason program and/or training camp, but Pineiro's end of the year at least gives him a leg up on the competition.

Pineiro (knee) is not listed on Wednesday's injury report, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

Pineiro attempted kickoffs in Wednesday's practice for the first time in three weeks, per Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune, and he appears to now be past his right knee issue. Barring any setbacks, he'll handle kicking duties Sunday versus the Saints.

Pineiro (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Vikings.

The Bears have called Pineiro's injury a pinched nerve in his right knee, which contained him to just one limited practice during Week 4 prep. No matter, he'll play through it for a second straight game versus a Minnesota team that has seen just one field-goal attempt from its opponents in 2019.

Pineiro has logged two straight absences from practice to begin the week. He's managing a pinched nerve in his right knee and facing a quick turnaround after Monday's win over Washington, during which the 24-year-old appeared to be in visible pain. Pineiro will likely need to practice in some capacity Friday in order to suit up for Sunday's divisional tilt against Minnesota.

Pineiro is battling a pinched nerve in his right knee so it's not a major surprise to see him as a non-participant Wednesday given the quick turnaround from Monday's win over the Redskins. The 24-year-old appeared to be in significant pain during the contest, clouding his availability going forward.

Pineiro (knee) is listed as active Monday in Washington.

Pineiro was a late addition to the Bears' Week 3 injury report, showing up on Saturday's version as a limited participant due to a knee injury. Per Adam Jahns of The Athletic, Pineiro was spotted warming up with the training staff prior to Monday's game, which went well enough for him to be cleared for action. Pineiro will look to build upon his perfect start to the campaign.

Pineiro (knee) is expected to make the trip to Washington for Monday's game, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The Bears must disclose of any players that don't make the road trip, and they didn't file any such notification, signaling Pineiro will be with the team. The kicker popped up on the injury report Saturday, after he suffered an apparent minor knee injury in the weight room. The Bears haven't signed another kicker as of now, but Pineiro could be looking like a game-time call before inactives come out and hour and a half before the game.
