Continues red-hot stretch
Forbes secured one solo tackle and five passes defensed, including an interception, in Sunday night's 34-7 victory over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Forbes has really been on a heater, and he once again made a splash play in Week 12, picking off Baker Mayfield on a hail mary throw prior to halftime. The cornerback has now registered 10 total tackles (eight solo) and 11 passes defensed, including three interceptions, over four games since the Rams' bye in Week 8.

Logs season-high tackles
Forbes logged five tackles (four solo) during the Rams' win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Forbes had a productive outing in the victory, as he racked up a season-high five tackles. The 24-year-old is off to a solid start to the campaign, as his 26 tackles (20 solo) are just 12 tackles shy of his career-best mark set back in 2023.

Nabs another interception Sunday
Forbes didn't make any tackles but picked off a pass Sunday in a 42-26 Week 10 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Forbes logged a 92 percent defensive snap share but didn't record any stops. However, he made an impact with a fourth-quarter interception of Mac Jones as San Francisco was attempting to make a comeback. The pickoff occurred in 49ers territory, and six plays later the Rams essentially put the game away with a touchdown to make the score 42-20. Forbes has notched an interception in two straight games after having no pickoffs across his first seven contests of the campaign.

Returns to practice
Forbes (hamstring) participated in Thursday's joint practice with the Saints, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes had been sidelined for the last couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury. He was cleared to return to practice earlier this week, and head coach Sean McVay told reporters after Thursday's session that "[Forbes] got about 50 percent of the snaps today, which was in alignment with the plan." Forbes was claimed off waivers by the Rams in December after being let go by the Commanders, and the 2023 first-rounder is competing for a rotational spot at outside corner behind Ahkello Witherspoon and Darious Williams.
Jul 31, 2025
Sidelined by hamstring issue
Forbes will be sidelined for at least one week due to a hamstring injury, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes has struggled to maintain a regular role in the secondary with both the Commanders and Rams since being selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He is expected to serve in a depth role with Los Angeles in 2025, and this injury doesn't look likely to affect his regular season.
Jan 31, 2025
Ends season as healthy scratch
Forbes racked up five tackles (four solo) and one pass breakup across two regular-season appearances with the Rams in 2024. He also appeared in six games with the Commandeers, totaling seven tackles (two solo) and one pass defensed, including one interception.
ANALYSIS
Forbes, a 2023 first-round pick, was waived by Washington late December then claimed by Los Angeles. With a limited time to integrate himself to a new defensive scheme, Forbes was then unable to carve out a consistent depth role with his new squad. He didn't play a single snap in either of the team's two playoff appearances. With two years remaining on his rookie deal, Forbes will enter the offseason working to better adapt to a role with the Rams.
Dec 22, 2024
Healthy inactive for Week 16
Forbes (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Rams claimed Forbes off waivers Dec. 2 after being cut by the Commanders in late November. However, the 2023 first-round pick has been a healthy scratch since the waiver claim. Forbes' next opportunity to play will be Week 17 against the Cardinals on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Dec 6, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday that Forbes (coach's decision) won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Bills, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes was claimed off waivers by the Rams on Monday after being waived by the Commanders on Nov. 30. He likely hasn't had enough time to learn the Rams' defensive scheme in order to play on such short notice. The 2023 first-round pick has appeared in six games this season, recording seven total tackles and one interception across 106 defensive snaps. Expect Forbes to serve as a depth piece in the Rams' secondary once he's up to speed with the team's defense.
Dec 4, 2024
Unlikely to play versus Buffalo
Coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Forbes is unlikely to play Sunday against the Bills, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes was claimed off waivers from the Commanders on Monday, and it would be unfair to expect him to be up to speed on the defense in such short order. The No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 Draft, this Forbes move by Los Angeles was as much about the future as it is about the present. Washington's new coaching staff threw in the towel on Forbes after he appeared in six games this season. He'd played just eight defensive snaps since Week 7.
Dec 2, 2024
Picked up by Rams
The Rams claimed Forbes off waivers Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes, a 2023 first-round pick from Mississippi State, was waived by the Commanders on Nov. 30 after struggling throughout his first 20 games in the NFL. He recorded 45 total tackles and 12 passes defended, including two interceptions, during his time in Washington, but also allowed 43 completions for 673 yards and three touchdowns in coverage. However, he's already found a new home with the Rams and will likely serve as a depth piece in the team's secondary as the season progresses.
Nov 30, 2024
Let loose by Washington
Forbes was waived by the Commanders on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Forbes was a first-round pick by Washington in 2023 and played in 14 regular-season games as a rookie, tallying 38 tackles (35 solo) and 11 pass defenses, including an interception. He started six contests last year but has logged just one start in 2024 and has missed five games -- two due to a thumb injury and three as a healthy scratch. In his final game for Washington, which took place Week 10 versus Pittsburgh, Forbes logged just two defensive snaps. With his time in Washington done, the Mississippi State product will likely look for a fresh start with a new organization.

Full practice Wednesday
Forbes was a full participant at the Commanders' practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Forbes appears to have left his UCL injury from earlier this season in the past, securing a tackle, an interception and pass defensed in the team's 40-7 win over the Panthers in Week 7. The cornerback has seen his playing time fluctuate this season and he'll look to build off of his performance against Carolina when the Commanders host the Bears on Sunday.
Oct 13, 2024
Sitting out again
Forbes (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Forbes was previously out of action after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL. However, the Mississippi state product returned in Week 4 but saw his role shrink considerably in Week 5. He'll now seemingly have to work to earn back a role in Washington's secondary.
Sep 25, 2024
Past thumb injury
Forbes (thumb) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 first-round pick was sidelined for the past two weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his thumb following the Commanders' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. However, Monday's full practice indicates that the second-year pro has moved past the issue. Expect Forbes to serve as one of Washington's top rotational cornerbacks as the season progresses.
Sep 23, 2024
Inactive for Monday night
Forbes (thumb) is inactive ahead of Monday night's matchup with the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Forbes is slated to miss his second consecutive game after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his thumb following the Commanders' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. Expect Michael Davis to see increased snaps as a rotational cornerback in Forbes' stead.
Sep 21, 2024
Iffy for Week 3
Forbes (thumb) is listed as questionable for Week 3 against the Bengals after participating in Saturday's practice in a limited capacity.
ANALYSIS
Forbes was forced to sit out for Week 2 against the Giants after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his thumb. He opened the week as a DNP on Thursday, but the 2023 first-round pick has given himself a chance at playing Monday after practicing Friday and Saturday, albeit in a limited fashion. Michael Davis played 22 defensive snaps in Week 2 in Forbes' absence, and the former would likely see a similar amount of playing time Monday if the latter is unable to suit up.
Sep 13, 2024
Has thumb surgery, out for Week 2
Coach Dan Quinn said Friday that Forbes (thumb) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Quinn said Forbes won't be placed on IR, but that it's too early to make a decision on his potential availability against the Bengals in Week 3, per Ben Standig of The Athletic. The rotational cornerback isn't expected to be out "too long" according to Quinn, so it sounds like a Week 3 return may be with the realm of possibility.
Sep 12, 2024
Limited participant Thursday
Forbes (thumb) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Forbes sustained a thumb injury in the Commanders' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. He managed to practice in full Wednesday, but the 2023 first-round pick will undergo surgery Friday to repair a torn UCL in his thumb, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Whether Forbes will suit up for Week 2 against the Giants could be more clear once Friday's injury report is released.
Sep 12, 2024
Undergoes surgery
Forbes will undergo surgery Friday to repair a torn UCL in his thumb, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes suffered the injury in a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers and was expected to play through it Sunday against the Giants by wearing a splint. However, the move to have surgery may change that plan and it's not clear when the 2023 first-round selection will suit up again. More clarity may be available once the team releases their next injury report.
Sep 11, 2024
Practices in full
Forbes (thumb) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 first-round pick sustained a thumb injury during the Commanders' Week 1 loss, but it appears he'll play through the issue. Forbes recorded four total tackles on 32 defensive snaps in his sophomore debut, and he's expected to serve as one of the Commanders' top rotational cornerbacks in Week 2's matchup against the Giants.
Sep 11, 2024
To play through thumb injury
Coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Forbes (thumb) is expected to play Sunday versus the Giants while wearing a splint, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes suffered a thumb injury during Washington's loss to the Buccaneers in Week 1, per John Keim of ESPN.com. It won't come as a surprise if the rotational cornerback is limited in practices this week as a result, but the Commanders expect Forbes to be available for Sunday's divisional matchup at home against New York.
Sep 8, 2024
Undergoes X-rays
Forbes (undisclosed) was spotted entering the X-ray room following Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Buccaneers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes finished the day with four total tackles (two solo), but he appears to have left the contest a little worse for wear. The team will likely provide an update on the cornerback in the near future.

Puts on 17 pounds
Forbes told reporters last week that he gained 17 pounds in the offseason, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
If that's accurate, it would mean Forbes's weight has increased by about 10 percent since he checked in at 166 pounds at the 2023 Combine. He was one of the more polarizing CB prospects in recent memory, sporting a thinner build than any current NFL starter at the position. The Commanders took a shot on Forbes with the 16th overall pick, betting that his absurd playmaking track record at Mississippi State (14 INTs, six returned for TDs) would translate to the NFL. It didn't work out that way as a rookie, with Forbes picking off just one pass and getting benched for performance reasons Week 6. He re-entered the starting lineup thereafter but was often picked on by opposing quarterbacks, and it seems the new coaching staff in Washington is hopeful Forbes will fare better with a more conventional build for a corner. That said, he's still among the thinnest players at his position, now listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds (though it sounds like he reported to training camp a few pounds heavier than 180).

Struggles in debut campaign
Forbes started six of 14 games during his 2023 rookie season, recording 38 tackles (35 solo), 11 pass defenses, one interception and one fumble recovery.
ANALYSIS
The 16th overall pick was a Week 1 starter, though he didn't get much playing time in the base defense, instead guarding the perimeter in nickel packages. Forbes got some unwanted attention after Eagles WR A.J. Brown dragged him around the field Week 4, with the rookie then logging just 34 defensive snaps over the next four games combined. In and out of the lineup for much of the year, Forbes handled an every-down role the final two weeks of the season but didn't exactly redeem himself. He also finished dead last in PFF run-defense grade among qualified cornerbacks, perhaps validating some of the pre-draft concerns about his lack of size (166 lbs. at the combine) being a problem in the NFL. On the other hand, Forbes ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash after picking off 14 passes (six returned for TDs) in three seasons in the SEC, so a rebound in Year 2 of his professional career wouldn't exactly be a shocking. A new coaching staff in Washington can't hurt, and Forbes' status as a first-round pick should ensure he

Returns to practice
Forbes (elbow) was a full participant during practice Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes appears on track to return in Week 15 against the Rams following the Commanders' Week 14 bye and a two-game absence. The return of the rookie corner should be a boost to the team's secondary over the final weeks of their season.
Dec 1, 2023
Won't play vs. Dolphins
Forbes (elbow) is out for Sunday's game versus the Dolphins, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes will miss his second straight game in Week 13 as he nurses an elbow injury he sustained in Week 11 versus the Giants. In his stead, Danny Johnson figures to serve as Washington's nickel corner Sunday.
Nov 22, 2023
Won't play Thursday at Dallas
Forbes (elbow) is listed as out for Thursday's game at the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Forbes will miss his second game this season in Week 12, this time due to an elbow injury he sustained in Week 11 versus the Giants. In his stead, Danny Johnson is likely to see increased reps at cornerback.
Nov 19, 2023
Returns to Week 11 contest
Forbes has reentered Sunday's game against the Giants after previously departing with an elbow injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Forbes exited in the first half with an elbow issue and was subsequently deemed questionable to return. He appears to be fine, however, as he's since come back into the game. Forbes should resume his rotational role in the Commanders secondary in the second half of the Week 11 matchup.
Nov 19, 2023
Exits with elbow issue
Forbes is questionable to return to Sunday's game after suffering an elbow injury.
ANALYSIS
Forbes is now the third Commander to exit today's game with an injury. The 2023 first-round pick had been playing as a rotational cornerback on Washington's defense, and that role will likely be filled by Jartavius Martin and Christian Holmes for the time being.
Sep 19, 2023
Grabs first career interception
Forbes compiled three solo tackles, an interception and two pass deflections in Washington's 35-33 win over Denver in Week 2.
ANALYSIS
Forbes snatched his first career interception Sunday, picking off Russell Wilson early in the third quarter. The rookie has also deflected three passes over his first two games with the Commanders after being selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft in April.
Aug 24, 2023
Healthy again
Forbes (groin) started Monday's preseason win over Baltimore and finished with one tackle.
ANALYSIS
Fellow first-round pick WR Zay Flowers beat Forbes twice on the opening drive, but the rookie corner bounced back on the next series to stuff RB Melvin Gordon for a loss on a 3rd-and-1. Tackles behind the line probably won't be a big part of Forbes' game, but he's more physical than one might expect of a player that weighted only 166 pounds at the 2023 NFL Combine. His college track record for intercepting (and then returning) passes is perhaps the best in recent memory among NFL prospects, and his 4.35 40-yard dash eased some of the concerns associated with him being unusually thin for a pro football player.
Aug 4, 2023
Dealing with groin injury
Forbes tweaked his groin in Friday's practice and will be re-evaluated, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 Draft back in April, Forbes sounds like he's at least going to miss some practice time. Forbes, Kendall Fuller, and Benjamin St-Juste are expected to open the season as the Commanders' top cornerbacks.
Apr 27, 2023
Chosen 16th overall by Washington
The Commanders selected Forbes in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 16th overall.
ANALYSIS
Forbes (6-foot-1, 166 pounds) is perilously thin for a cornerback, but it might be worth thinking of him as the defensive analog to DeVonta Smith. Like Smith, Forbes plays stronger than he looks, and the playmaking ability is off the charts. Forbes has long arms and elite athleticism to pair with All-Decade ball skills, and maybe multi-decade distinction as a threat with the ball in his hands. Forbes intercepted 14 passes in 36 games at Mississippi State, returning those interceptions for an improbable 390 yards and six touchdowns. Forbes looks like a good one, even if he's 'too skinny.'
