The Chiefs' offense struggled in the first half, but Butker helped his team get on the board with a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter before connecting on a 59-yard try as the first half came to a close. The veteran kicker capped things off by converting on a 27-yard chip shot late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't a perfect night for him after his extra-point try in the third missed wide right. As long as the Chiefs are led by Patrick Mahomes, Butker's floor should be one of the highest among kickers on a week-to-week basis.

Butker notably missed four contests from Week 11 to 14 due to a left knee injury, but he was again pretty reliable when healthy. Of his four field-goal misfires on the season, three of them came from north of 50 yards out, so it's not a major concern. He remains under wraps with Kansas City through the 2028 season, but his fantasy prospects next season don't seem quite as bright backing a Chiefs offense that has finished midpack in scoring the last two seasons after finishing among the top five in both 2021 and 2022.

Since the Chiefs designated him for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Butker has put together three consecutive limited practices, thereby giving him a chance to play this weekend. He's been sidelined since Week 10 after undergoing a meniscus trim on his left knee on Nov. 15. Ultimately, in order for Butker to suit up Sunday, he'll need to be activated from IR by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Matthew Wright is lined up to kick if that doesn't come to pass.

Coach Andy Reid said that Butker underwent surgery on his injured left knee Friday and doesn't have a timeline for his return to action, Jesse Newell of The Kansas City Star reports.

Reid confirmed that Butker hurt his knee in practice this week, resulting in his placement on injured reserve Friday. "(He) tried to go on Thursday," Reid told Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com. "(He) wasn't able to do it." He also confirmed that Butker had a repair of the meniscus in his left knee, according to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com. For as long as Butker is sidelined, Spencer Shrader will handle kicking duties for the Chiefs.

Butker is dealing with a meniscus injury, which required a trim procedure, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. With Butker set to miss at least the next four games, the Chiefs signed Spencer Shrader off the Jets' practice squad on Thursday.

Per Rapoport, Butker's deal -- which makes him the NFL's highest-paid kicker -- is a four-year, $25.6 million extension, with $17.8 million in guarantees. The 29-year-old is coming off a 2023 regular season in which he made 33 of his 35 field-goal attempts en route to scoring 137 points in 17 games. While working behind Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes' helmed offense, Butker remains a premium fantasy kicking option ahead of the coming campaign.

As expected, Butker will be ready to go for Week 8 despite dealing with an illness during the week. He hasn't missed a kick this year, but he'll likely be kicking in freezing conditions Sunday, dampening his fantasy outlook somewhat.

The Georgia Tech product remains perfect on the season after Sunday's performance, making all 11 of his PATs, while improving to 8-for-8 on field goals. Next up for Butker is a Week 5 matchup with the Vikings.

Butker wasn't particularly desirable as a fantasy kicker as a result, finishing outside the top 20 and off the radar in most formats. However, the Chiefs still led the league in scoring at 29.2 points per game, so Butker should be a highly valued target in drafts next season.

There was some real concerns Butker would ultimately miss the regular season finale, but after an extensive warm up, the veteran kicker is good to go. It's possible the Chiefs may have to go through this same sort of cadence next week provided they're unable to claim the No. 1 seed and first-round bye.

Butker wasn't included on the Chiefs' injury report to begin Week 18 before he was added to the report Wednesday, when a bout with back spasms prevented him from practicing. He took a step in the right direction Thursday by returning to practice as a limited participant, but the Chiefs aren't yet comfortable clearing Butker to play in the regular-season finale. According to Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star, head coach Andy Reid said after Thursday's session that "there's a chance" the team may need to add a kicker to the roster if Butker isn't fit to play Saturday. Kansas City would have to make any roster move by Friday if there's truly any lingering concern about Butker's availability.

It's unclear how heavily Butker participated, but his return to the field after dealing with back spasms Wednesday suggests he is making process in his recovery. The team has still yet to bring in another kicker, so it appears they may have some confidence in his ability to suit up Saturday against the Raiders.

Butker wasn't listed on the injury report Tuesday, but he lands on the list Wednesday as a non-participant due to back spasms. His absence is certainly concerning, and if he isn't able to practice Thursday, his status for Saturday's game against the Raiders will be in serious jeopardy. Kansas City currently doesn't have a kicker on its practice squad, but Matthew Wright, who saw action with the Chiefs earlier in the season, remains a free agent after being let go by Pittsburgh.

Butker's run of perfection in the kicking game extended to six straight games Sunday, with Butker going 10-for-10 on field goals and 18-for-18 on extra points over that span. He should have a few opportunities to add to his perfect streak in the regular-season finale but it's worth noting that the Chiefs could rest some of the usual starters with the No. 1 seed in the AFC already locked up.

Butker has not missed a kick in any of the last five games, hitting true on all nine of his field-goal attempts and 16 of his extra-point tries. He remains a viable fantasy option in the last two weeks of the regular season, but it's worth noting he has topped two field-goal attempts just once over the last five games.

While Butker's minimal usage as a field-goal kicker won't help win any fantasy leagues, he at least made his lone attempt of the day and added some extra value by converting all of his four extra-point tries. He has gone four straight weeks without misfiring on a kick after missing at least one in six of the eight games between Weeks 2 and 9. The Chiefs round out the season with a trio of opponents allowing average to above-average production from opposing fantasy kickers, so Butker could be in for more usage down the stretch.

Butker was called on for more than three attempts for the first time all season Sunday thanks to a stingy Broncos defense, and he made more than two kicks for just the third time. He only attempted one extra point on the day but served as the team's primary source of scoring on the day, accounting for 15 of the team's 22 points on the board. With some potentially high-scoring contests rounding out the 2020 season, Butker could be in line for a strong fantasy finish.

Butker knocked home both of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point attempts Sunday versus the Buccaneers.

After a pair of zero field-goal attempt games in two of the previous three weeks, Butker made his mark again Sunday and needed to in a three-point win. He remains one of the best fantasy kicker options operation behind the league's second-highest scoring offense (31.6 points per game).

Butker didn't attempt a field goal but knocked home all of his five field-goal attempts during Sunday's game versus the Raiders.

Butker has now attempted no field goals in two of the last three games after attempting at least one in each of the first seven contests and a total of 14 over that span. He was at least perfect on his extra-point tries and could be needed more frequently next week versus a Tampa Bay squad coming off of a tough loss Monday to the Rams.

On the downside of Butker's stat line is that he misfired on a pair of kicks, so there were potential points left off the board yet again. The fourth-year kicker missed from inside of 50 yards just once all of last season but has already done so twice and has missed six extra-point attempts after knocking home 45 of 48 in 2019. While both present a mild concern, it's not enough of an issue at this point to worry about his job security.

Butker didn't have to attempt a field goal Sunday in what turned into a lopsided affair, but he at least busted a string of missing an extra-point attempt in four of the last five games. Next up is a Carolina defense that has held opponents to 27 or fewer points in each of the last six games, though there aren't many teams who can match the Chiefs' offense.

Butker continues to be accurate on field-goal attempts, missing just one of his first 14 through seven games, but he continues to work through some issues on extra-point tries, having missed one in each of the last five games he has attempted one. Despite the minor struggles in that department, Butker's ability to clean up drives with field goals should continue to pay the biggest dividends from a fantasy standpoint.

While Butker has misfired on just one field goal through the first six weeks, he's begun a troubling trend of missing on extra-point attempts, missing one in four of the last five contests. Fortunately, it hasn' cost the Chiefs a game to date but it's something to monitor as the season progresses. Kansas City is averaging north of 29 points per contest through the first six, so there is plenty of reason to believe Butker will continue to get his opportunities in the kicking game.

Butker had some recent struggles with extra points, missing one in each of the last three contests, so his return to form Sunday should calm any potential concerns in that department. Butker has surprisingly misfired on an extra-point attempt in each of the last three weeks after missing just three of his 48 attempts last season. On the plus side, he was perfect on field goals, which are much more valuable from a fantasy perspective. Butker has attempted at least two field goals in three of the four games and should continue to see ample attempts behind a high-powered Chiefs offense.

Butker missed his only field goal attempt as well as one of his four extra-point tries in Monday night's 34-20 win over the Ravens.

Butker followed his Week 2 heroics with an unusually poor performance. He not only went wide left on his first PAT attempt, but also missed the same way on a 42-yard field goal prior to halftime. Through three games, Butker has now misfired on a pair of extra points, with Monday's inaccurate attempt contributing toward a season-low of four points total.

Butker was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals, including a game-winning kick from 58 yards out in overtime, Sunday versus the Chargers.

The only blemish on his record was a blocked PAT, which marked the first miss of any kind so far this season in his kicking game. Even more impressive, Butker hit a pair of kicks from beyond 50 yards Sunday, which can pay major dividends in some fantasy formats. Kansas City's road doesn't get any easier with the Ravens on tap next week, an opponent who could limit field-goal attempts.

Butker didn't face any particularly challenging kicks to open the 2020 season, but he seems well on his way to another solid showing fueled by an explosive Kansas City offense.
