ANALYSIS
Froholdt's illness presumably is something that popped up overnight and is now threatening his status for the Week 16 game. If Froholdt isn't cleared ahead of the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, the Cardinals will likely turn to Jon Gaines to serve as their starting center.

Inks extension with Arizona
The Cardinals signed Froholdt to a two-year extension Monday.
ANALYSIS
After spending just one season in Arizona, the Cardinals decided to secure Froholdt for the next two years with a contract extension. Froholdt was the Cardinals' top center in 2023, starting all 17 of the team's regular-season contests, and it now appears that he'll remain Arizona's top choice at center for the immediate future.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that Froholdt is day-to-day with a left leg injury, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Froholdt sustained the injury during Tuesday's practice session and walked to the locker room. He was seen in street clothes wearing a sleeve on his left leg Friday. Evan Brown and Jon Gaines are in line for more snaps at center with the first-team offense while Froholdt remains sidelined.

Froholdt signed with Cleveland on Oct. 6 to serve as depth along the offensive line. With Nick Harris (illness) set to return after a one-week absence, Froholdt became expendable. Assuming he clears waivers, Froholdt will be able to sign with any team.

The Browns swiped Froholdt off the Texans' practice squad after placing backup center Nick Harris (hamstring) on injured reserve. Froholdt was drafted in fourth round of 2019 by New England and appeared in eight games for the Patriots in 2020 before landing with Houston. Harris must miss at least three games.

Froholdt joined the Texans after leaving the Patriots in November of 2020. The second-year pro was unable to suit up for Houston after joining the team because he either tested positive for the virus, or came into close contact with someone who did. Froholdt will now be able to rejoin the Texans as he's been activated off the COVID list.
