Bounces back with four catches
Henry secured four of six targets for 45 yards in the Patriots' 27-14 win over the Jets on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Henry had been held to a season-low-tying one reception Sunday against the Buccaneers, but he bounced back by tying his second-highest catch total of the campaign. The veteran tight end also posted his second-highest yardage tally in the last six contests, while Thursday's targets tied for the most he'd seen since Week 3. Henry will take a 34-422-4 receiving line on 53 targets into a Week 12 home matchup against the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Nov 10, 2025
One catch in Week 10 win
Henry caught one of his four targets for nine yards in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Henry logged an 87 percent snap share in the contest, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, but the Patriots tight ends weren't a big factor in the team's Week 10 passing attack, which was paced by WRs Mack Hollins (six catches) and Stefon Diggs (five catches). As Thursday night's game against the Jets approaches, Henry looks like a boom-or-bust fantasy option, given the way New England has been spreading the ball around of late. Overall, he's recorded a 30/377/4 receiving line on 47 targets through 10 games, with three of his TDs having been notched in a two-game span (Weeks 3 and 4) .
Nov 3, 2025
Four catches Sunday
Henry caught four of his six targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 24-23 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Henry logged 51 of a possible 68 snaps on offense in the contest, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, and on the heels of being targeted just once in Week 8, the tight end saw more typical volume Sunday. Overall, Henry has recorded a 29/368/4 receiving line on 43 targets through nine games, a rate of production that keeps him on the fantasy radar in most formats.
Oct 27, 2025
Catches TD in Week 8
Henry's only target in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Browns resulted in a seven-yard touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for those who had Henry in Week 8 lineups, his season-low in targets still yielded fantasy production. Looking ahead to the Patriots' Week 9 game against the Falcons, Henry who was on the field for 52 of 68 snaps on offense versus Cleveland, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, merits fantasy consideration given that he continues to see steady playing time and overall has compiled a 25/317/4 receiving line on 37 targets through eight games.
Oct 20, 2025
Four catches against Titans
Henry recorded four receptions on five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Henry finished second on the team in targets and managed his highest target total since Week 3. He was a reliable option for Drake Maye, helping the Patriots get out from their own goal line with a 12-yard catch early in the second quarter while also converting on third down with an eight-yard reception two quarters later. While he plays a key role in the team's offense, Henry has failed to reach 50 receiving yards in four straight contests.
Oct 13, 2025
Three catches in Week 6
Henry was on the field for 53 of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 25-19 win over the Saints, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, en route to catching all three of his targets in the contest for 27 yards.
ANALYSIS
Through six games, Henry has maintained steady playing time, while recording a 20/277/3 receiving line on 31 targets. Though his volume has tapered off over his last three outings, the tight end remains a viable red-zone option for QB Drake Maye and a candidate to see increased targets on any given week, when dictated by game script and/or game flow.
Oct 6, 2025
Gains 46 yards Sunday
Henry had two receptions on four targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry ripped off a pair of 20-plus yard receptions in order to check in as the Patriots' second-leading receiver despite finishing with just the two receptions Sunday. The veteran starter failed to extend his modest scoring streak to three games on a night where the passing offense accounted for zero touchdowns. Henry has been a pleasant surprise in fantasy as we cross the quarter point of the regular season, producing a 17-250-3 receiving line heading into a Week 6 matchup against the Saints next Sunday.
Sep 28, 2025
Another TD in Week 4 win
Henry secured both targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' 42-13 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end continued to flash encouraging chemistry with Drake Maye, getting into the end zone for the third time in the last two games on a 31-yard catch to cap off the first drive of the second half. Henry's catch and target totals have fluctuated considerably week to week, but a Week 5 road battle against the Bills next Sunday night could well turn out to be one of his busier games considering New England figure to have to remain aggressive on offense.
Sep 21, 2025
Two TDs in Week 3 loss
Henry caught eight of 11 targets for 90 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end's connection with QB Drake Maye was just about the only thing working for the Patriots on the afternoon. No other New England player caught more than four passes (Mack Hollins) or had more than 38 receiving yards (Rhamondre Stevenson), and the backfield combined to lose an incredible four fumbles -- two by Stevenson, and one each by Maye and Antonio Gibson. Henry will take 13-165-2 line on 22 targets through three games into a Week 4 meeting with the Panthers with has looked vulnerable to TEs so far.
Sep 15, 2025
One catch versus Miami
Henry, who was on the field for 51 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 33-27 win over the Dolphins, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught one of his three targets in the contest for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Austin Hooper logged 37 snaps and caught all three of his targets for 38 yards. Given that Henry -- who caught four of his eight targets for 66 yards in Week 1 -- maintains steady snaps in New England's offense, he'll have an opportunity to make a fantasy contributions most weeks, but the presence of Hooper can cause Henry's production to dip in some games, as was the case Sunday.
Sep 8, 2025
Four catches Sunday
Henry caught four of his eight targets for 66 yards in the Patriots' 20-13 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Henry -- whose eight targets tied for the team lead -- was on the field for 66 of a possible 71 snaps on offense in the contest, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, while fellow tight end Austin Hooper logged 23 snaps and one catch for 10 yards. In the weeks ahead, Henry should continue to maintain enough of a workload and target volume to merit fantasy lineup consideration. Next up for the Patriots is a road game against a Miami team that lost to Indianapolis in Week 1 by a score of 33-8.
Aug 22, 2025
Among starters rested Thursday
Henry didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
After logging six snaps in the Patriots' preseason opener, Henry didn't see action in the team's final two exhibition tilts, with an eye toward keeping him healthy ahead of Week 1. Henry, who is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he recorded a receiving line of 66/674/2 on 97 targets in 16 games, approaches the coming campaign as New England's top pass-catching option in a TE corps that also returns Austin Hooper, who recorded 45 catches on 59 targets while working in tandem with Henry last year.
Aug 14, 2025
Back at practice
Henry (undisclosed) returned to practice Thursday, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A undisclosed issue sidelined the tight end earlier this week, but Henry's return to the field Thursday suggests that he could be avialble for Saturday's preseason contest against the Vikings. That said, it's unclear if the Patriots plan to play their starters or not this weekend.
Aug 13, 2025
Could practice Thursday
Henry (undisclosed) didn't practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, Reiss notes that Henry -- who also missed Monday's session -- could return to practice as soon as Thursday. If that's the case, and the tight end is able to work fully in that scenario, he could be available for Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.
Aug 12, 2025
Misses practice Monday
Henry (undisclosed) was held out of practice Monday, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Reiss, Henry appeared to come up with an undisclosed injury Sunday, which makes the tight end's progress worth monitoring ahead of Saturday's preseason contest against the Vikings. With Henry sidelined Monday, Austin Hooper worked as the Patriots' TE1 during practice.
May 28, 2025
Participates in OTAs
Henry (foot) was on the field for Wednesday's practice during the Patriots' current voluntary organized team activities, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A foot injury sidelined Henry for the final game of the 2024 regular season, but Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald relays that the tight end wasn't among the players limited at Wednesday's session. Henry, who recorded a receiving line of 66/674/2 on 97 targets in 16 games last season, is back for his fifth year with New England and set to maintain his role as the top pass-catching option in a TE corps that also features fellow returnee Austin Hooper, who notched 45 catches in 2024.
Jan 5, 2025
Inactive Sunday
Henry (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Bills.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as limited at practice this past week, Henry carried a 'questionable' designation into the weekend. With Henry sidelined for the Patriots' season finale, Austin Hooper is available to lead a Week 18 tight end corps that also includes Jaheim Bell and Jack Westover. Henry, who is under contract with New England through the 2026 campaign, thus concludes his fourth year with the franchise with a receiving line of 66/674/2 on 97 targets in 16 games
Jan 3, 2025
Questionable for Week 18
Henry (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Bills, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was limited in practice during the entirety of Week 18 prep, thus leaving his status in flux heading into the weekend. With a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff on tap Sunday, his status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before that point. Having said that, even if he's available, Henry could cede some TE reps to Austin Hooper or perhaps even rookie seventh-round pick Jaheim Bell.
Jan 2, 2025
Another limited practice
Henry (foot) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry was also limited Wednesday, so the tight end will probably need to work fully Friday in order to approach Sunday's game against the Bills without an injury designation. As for the 3-13 Patriots' approach heading into Week 18, head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that he's planning on having all the team's healthy starters take the field this weekend, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
Jan 1, 2025
Limited by foot injury
Henry (foot) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry logged a season-low 30 (out of a possible 53) snaps on offense in this past Saturday's 40-7 loss to the Chargers, so it's possible his limitations Wednesday stem from an issue that cropped up in that contest. The tight end's status is thus worth monitoring as Sunday's season finale against the Bills approaches, a game in which head coach Jerod Mayo said the 3-13 Patriots plan to play their healthy starters, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Dec 30, 2024
Zero catches versus former team
Henry didn't record a catch (on two targets) in Saturday's 40-7 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who logged a season-low 30 (out of a possible 53) snaps on offense Saturday, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, was blanked for the first time this year at an inopportune time for fantasy managers who'd grown accustomed to his steady production out of the tight end position. Henry and the Patriots will close out their 2024 campaign this Sunday at home against a Buffalo team that is locked into the AFC's No. 2 playoff seed.
Dec 23, 2024
Catches late TD
Henry recorded four receptions on nine targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry led the team with nine targets, though he was outgained by both Austin Hooper and Kayshon Boutte. His most impactful plays came on a 12-yard gain toward the close of the first quarter and on a nine-yard touchdown catch with just over a minute remaining in the contest. It was his first trip to the end zone since Week 6 and only his second score of the campaign. Henry's production has fluctuated in recent weeks, though he has at least eight targets in our of his last five games.
Dec 15, 2024
Gains 25 yards in loss
Henry brought in all four of his targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Henry finished first in receptions and second in targets Sunday, but he ranked fourth in receiving yards in a collective poor offensive showing by New England. The veteran tight end did set a new career high in receptions (64), and he is just 17 yards shy of his current best of 653 receiving yards set back in 2019. Henry's lack of touchdowns (one) is what holds him back from being a reliable option in fantasy ahead of next Sunday's tilt against Buffalo.
Dec 1, 2024
Leading receiver in Sunday's loss
Henry caught seven of nine targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end once again led the Patriots in catches, targets and receiving yards, but Henry got denied a bigger performance when Austin Hooper caught Drake Maye's only TD of the day in the second quarter instead. Henry is on the verge of a career-best campaign, needing just three more catches and 43 more yards to set new personal bests in those categories. He'll aim for those marks on the other side of New England's Week 14 bye.
Nov 25, 2024
Five catches Sunday
Henry, who was on the field for 57 of a possible 69 snaps on offense in Sunday's 34-15 loss to the Dolphins, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught five of his team-high eight targets for 44 yards in the contest.
ANALYSIS
Fellow tight end Austin Hooper, who logged 26 snaps in the game, also made his mark Sunday by catching all four of his targets for 59 yards and a TD. Given his steady workload in the Patriots offense, Henry retains weekly utility from a fantasy perspective, but it's worth noting that his only TD this season occurred back in Week 6.
Nov 17, 2024
Six catches in Week 11 loss
Henry caught six of nine targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Henry led the Patriots in targets and catches while finishing seven yards shy of Kendrick Bourne's team-leading total. The veteran tight end has been the most reliable target for rookie Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, due in large part to New England's lack of talent at wide receiver. Henry has averaged 6.8 targets in the first six starts of Maye's career heading into a Week 12 trip to Miami.
Nov 14, 2024
Full practice Thursday
Henry (foot) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry -- who was on the field 57 of the Patriots' 64 snaps on offense in this past weekend's 19-3 win over the Bears - was limited Wednesday, but his full participation a day later paves the way for the tight end to face the Rams on Sunday. Though he's coming off a one-catch, 14-yard effort versus Chicago, Henry is a Week 11 bounce-back candidate, given his steady playing time in New England's offense, which overall has resulted in a 40/428/1 receiving line on 57 targets over the course of 10 games to date.
Nov 13, 2024
Limited by foot issue
Henry (foot) was limited at practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was on the field 57 of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 19-3 win over the Bears, so it's possible that his limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related. Thursday's injury report will add further context with regard to his Week 11 status, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that the tight end is in danger of missing this weekend's contest against the Rams.
Nov 11, 2024
One catch in Week 10
Henry, who logged 57 of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 19-3 win over the Bears, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught one of his four targets in the contest for 14 yards.
ANALYSIS
With the Patriots relying heavily on two-TE sets Sunday, Henry's teammate Austin Hooper was on the field for a season-high 41 snaps en route to catching three of his four targets for 64 yards. Given the that he continues to see steady snaps in New England's Drake Maye-helmed offense, Henry -- who had combined for 20 catches over his previous three outings -- is a bounce-back candidate in Week 11 versus the Rams.
Nov 3, 2024
Seven catches in OT loss
Henry recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Henry remained a favorite target of Drake Maye and has at least five receptions in each of Maye's three starts. Henry remained primarily a short-area option, though four of his catches went for at least 10 yards. While Henry won't match the explosiveness of elite fantasy tight ends, he has a key role in the New England offense and should remain a reliable contributor moving forward.
Oct 27, 2024
Five catches as Maye concussed
Henry caught five of six targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 25-22 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Henry had a would-be 39-yard catch from Jacoby Brissett wiped out by a holding penalty in the third quarter, but he still finished just one receiving yard shy of Kayshon Boutte's team-leading total. All three of New England's touchdowns came on the ground, as the passing game took a back seat after Drake Maye's (concussion) first-half exit. Henry's ceiling will be lower in Week 9 against the Titans if Brissett starts at quarterback rather than Maye.
Oct 20, 2024
Maye's favorite target
Henry recorded eight receptions on nine targets for 92 yards in Sunday's 32-16 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Henry delivered splash plays on each of the Patriots' scoring drives, the first for 18 yards in the opening quarter and a 32-yard reception in the final frame. Even during less effective possessions, Drake Maye consistently looked Henry's way, allowing the tight end to tally his second eight-reception performance of the season. Henry should be in a good position to remain a significant part of New England's offense, and he could remain reasonably productive with the unit looking far more competent under Maye.
Oct 13, 2024
Scores in Maye's first start
Henry caught three of five targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-21 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Henry was quiet for most of the game but came alive on a third-quarter drive after the Patriots fell behind 27-7, contributing a 30-yard catch and a six-yard touchdown catch. He finished second on the team in targets behind DeMario Douglas' nine. Drake Maye threw three touchdown passes in his first NFL start and has raised the ceiling of New England's entire passing game heading into the team's Week 7 trip to England to face the porous Jaguars defense.
Oct 7, 2024
Another two-catch game
Henry logged 56 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For the third straight game and fourth time in five contests overall, Henry caught two passes, this time around on four targets for 32 yards. Henry's eight-catch effort in Week 2 thus stands out as an outlier, though the tight end's steady playing time does at least keep him involved in the Patriots passing attack on a weekly basis.
Sep 29, 2024
Makes two catches Sunday
Henry brought in two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Henry finished with disappointing numbers for the third time in four starts this season. The veteran tight end saw one more target than backup Austin Hooper, but the latter was the recipient of Jacoby Brissett's lone passing touchdown in the loss. Henry showed us in Week 2 that he can be a fantasy factor, but that glow has faded heading into Sunday's tilt against the Dolphins.
Sep 27, 2024
Ready for Week 4 contest
Henry (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
After logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, Henry worked in full to close the week out, setting the stage for him to be available to face San Francisco on the road this weekend. Henry's been a hit-or-miss fantasy option out of the gate this season in the Patriots' Jacoby Brissett-helmed offense, with two-catch efforts in Weeks 1 and 3, and an 8/109/0 receiving line on 12 targets in the team's Week 2 loss to the Seahawks. In that context, he profiles as a speculative lineup option in Week 4, given the inconsistency of his team's passing game.
Sep 25, 2024
Limited by ankle issue
Henry (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After a big game in Week 2, Henry caught two of his three targets for nine yards in this past Thursday's loss to the Jets, while recording a 63 percent snap share in the contest. With a listed ankle issue now, the tight end will need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Sep 20, 2024
Two catches versus Jets
Henry was on the field for 33 of the Patriots' 52 snaps on offense in Thursday's 24-3 loss to the Jets, en route to catching two of his three targets for nine yards in the contest, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After racking up eight catches on a team-high 12 targets for 109 yards in this past Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Seahawks, Henry's volume dipped Thursday night in a game in which New England's offense stalled. Meanwhile, WR DeMario Douglas led the team with nine targets. Looking ahead, Henry figures to have outings where he'll make more of an impact, but the team's inconsistent passing attack makes him a hit-or-miss fantasy option.
Sep 15, 2024
Tops 100 yards
Henry recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 109 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Henry was the clear favorite target for Jacoby Brissett, as no other player was targeted more than five times nor surpassed 12 yards. He worked primarily in the short areas of the field but did rack up yards after the catch to tally long gains of 35 and 17 yards. The Patriots have played conservatively on offense through two games, so it may be difficult for Henry to replicate this performance regularly.
Sep 8, 2024
Two catches in season-opening win
Henry brought in two of three targets for 18 yards in the Patriots' 16-10 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Henry had a quiet afternoon but certainly wasn't alone among his pass-catching teammates, as the Patriots leveraged dominant performances by Rhamondre Stevenson and their defense for a season-opening upset victory. The veteran tight end should continue to enjoy a steady role throughout the season while working with either veteran Jacoby Brissett or rookie Drake Maye, as both should value his reliability when dropping back. However, how much passing volume there will be week to week remains an open question, so Henry's outlook isn't particularly bright heading into a Week 2 home battle against the Seahawks.
Sep 4, 2024
Logs full practice
Henry (foot) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Evidently it was a foot issue that slowed Henry during the preseason, but the tight end's full practice participation Wednesday sets the stage for him to be available for Sunday's season opener against the Bengals. While the Patriots seem likely to be a run-heavy team out of the gate, Henry could still end up seeing enough targets from starting QB Jacoby Brissett to merit fantasy lineup consideration. Henry logged six TDs in 14 regular-season games in 2023, and should once again serve as a useful option for the team in close.
Aug 25, 2024
Remains sidelined Sunday
Henry (undisclosed) isn't in uniform for Sunday's preseason finale against the Commanders, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry remains sidelined due to his undisclosed injury, while fellow injured tight end Austin Hooper (undisclosed) is dressed against Washington. Further updates on Henry's status will surface before the Patriots begin regular-season play Sept. 8 against the Bengals.
Aug 19, 2024
Shouldn't be out long
Coach Jerod Mayo expects Henry (undisclosed) and the Patriots' other injured tight ends will be "ready to go relatively early in the season," Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was held out of Thursday's preseason loss to the Eagles, while fellow tight ends Austin Hooper (undisclosed) and Mitchell Wilcox (calf) both played but now are dealing with injuries. Previous reports suggested Henry's issue isn't serious, but it isn't clear when he's expected to rejoin practice.
Aug 15, 2024
Not playing Thursday
Henry (undisclosed) isn't uniform ahead of Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry has been dealing with an injury of late that isn't expected to sideline him for long, but the Patriots will play it safe with the tight end in their second exhibition tilt. In any case, as the regular season approaches, Henry's standing as the team's top option at his position remains secure.
Aug 13, 2024
Dealing with minor injury
Henry will miss practice Tuesday with an unspecified injury that isn't expected to be serious, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The issue reportedly came up in Sunday's practice, with Henry then sitting out Monday and now set to miss at least one more session. He was rested for the preseason opener and now seems unlikely to play in Thursday's exhibition against the Eagles, but it doesn't sound like the Patriots are too worried about the tight end's availability for Week 1.
Aug 9, 2024
Doesn't play Thursday
Henry didn't play in Thursday's preseason opener versus the Panthers, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald, Henry suited up Thursday, but did not play, so it's possible that the tight end could be managing a minor injury. In any case, while there's plenty of snaps up for grabs in the Patriots' crowded WR corps, Henry's standing as the team's top TE appears secure ahead of Week 1.
Mar 8, 2024
Re-signing for three more years
Henry (knee) has agreed to a three-year deal to remain with the Patriots, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to missing the final three contests of the 2023 regular season due to a left knee injury, Henry caught 42 passes (on 61 targets) for 419 yards to go along with a team-high six TD receptions in 14 games. With the 2016 second-rounder set to stay put, the Patriots will enjoy valuable stability at the tight end position in the initial stage of Jerod Mayo's stint as New England's head coach. Regardless of who ends up as the starting QB for the team in 2024, Henry -- who will presumably be past his knee issue by the time on-field activities resume -- is set to reprise his key pass-catching role, a context that should result in the 29-year-old maintaining a degree of weekly fantasy utility this coming season.
Mar 8, 2024
Re-signing with Pats
Henry (knee) is finalizing a deal to stay with the Patriots, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry completed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with New England and would've been eligible for free agency next week. He'll instead stick around under a new coaching staff, after averaging 44.3 catches for 510.3 yards and 5.7 TDs on 65.0 targets in his previous three years with the Patriots. The 29-year-old tight end figures to keep his starting job but doesn't figure to have much fantasy appeal in an offense that's expected to either have a rookie or journeyman veteran under center to start the season. There's been no indication of Henry needing surgery on the knee injury that cost him the final three weeks of 2023 -- his only absences since 2020 when he was still with the Chargers.
Jan 21, 2024
Catches 42 passes this past season
Henry (knee) finished the 2023 regular-season with 42 catches on 61 targets for 419 yards and six TDs in 14 games.
ANALYSIS
A knee issue sidelined Henry for the Patriots' final three contests, with the tight end ultimately having been placed on IR ahead of Week 18 action. With the three-year, $37.5 million contract that the 29-year-old signed with the team back in March of 2021 now having been completed, Henry is eligible to become a an unrestricted free agent this offseason. While there figures to be plenty of roster turnover in New England during the coming months following a 4-13 campaign, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site suggests that Henry could end up being a priority re-signing, especially if the franchise turns over the reins to a new young signal-caller.
Jan 6, 2024
Goes over to IR
Henry (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Henry was at times a touchdown hog for the Patriots scoring six times in 14 games despite being saddled in a moribund offense at times. The team isn't necessarily in a bad spot cap wise, but it'd be hard to argue that Henry has lived up to the three-year, $37.5 million contract signed back in 2021 and he could be an offseason cut if a new regime does ultimately take over in Foxborough.
Jan 5, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Henry (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
With Henry slated to miss his third straight game, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown (ribs/questionable) -- if available -- are in line to lead the Patriots' tight end corps in Week 18. Henry, who is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, thus finishes his third campaign with the team with 42 catches for 419 yards and six TDs on 61 targets through 14 contests.
Jan 4, 2024
Another limited session
Henry (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who has missed two straight games, was also a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, so he'll need to work fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets. If, however, Henry remains sidelined this weekend, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown would continue to lead New England's TE corps in Week 18.
Jan 3, 2024
Gets in limited practice
Henry (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry missed Week 17 versus Buffalo with the knee issue, but the limited start to the practice week would seem to suggest he has a better chance to play in Sunday's season finale against the Jets.
Dec 31, 2023
Inactive Sunday
Henry (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who was inactive in Week 16, was limited in all three of New England's practices this week before approaching the contest listed as questionable. In his continued absence Sunday, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown (who both caught two passes in last weekend's win over the Broncos) are slated to lead the Patriots' tight end corps in Week 17.
Dec 29, 2023
Questionable to face Bills
Henry (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry was a limited participant in all three of New England's practices during the week after sitting out the team's Week 16 win over the Broncos. If Henry's able to limit his absence to one game, he'll likely reclaim his spot atop the tight end depth chart while pushing both Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown down a peg.
Dec 28, 2023
Another limited session
Henry (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who was inactive for the Patriots' 26-23 win over the Broncos in Week 16, was also limited Wednesday, which suggests that the tight end could potentially return to the lineup Sunday against the Bills. However, unless he practices fully Friday, Henry figures to draw a Week 17 injury designation.
Dec 27, 2023
Limited at practice Wednesday
Henry (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry closed out last week with a limited practice this past Friday, but after initially being listed as questionable, the tight end was subsequently downgraded to out Saturday ahead of the Patriots' Week 16 win over the Broncos. With another limited session in the books, Henry has a chance to suit up this Sunday against the Bills, but unless he practices fully by the end of the week, he'll presumably carry an injury designation into the weekend.
Dec 23, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Henry (knee) has been downgraded to out for Sunday night's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out practice Wednesday and Thursday, Henry logged a limited session Friday before being deemed questionable by the Patriots. With Henry now unavailable to face Denver, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown are slated to handle the team's tight end duties Sunday, and in that context both players now profile as potential Week 16 fantasy darts in deeper formats.
Dec 22, 2023
Gets Week 16 questionable tag
Henry (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Denver.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Patriots' first two practice sessions of the week, Henry took the field Friday, albeit as a limited participant. Henry's return to practice was at least enough for the Patriots to leave the door open for the tight end to play Sunday, but clarity on his status one way or the other won't officially arrive until New England posts its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the game's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. If Henry can't play this weekend, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown would see expanded roles at tight end.
Dec 22, 2023
On the field Friday
Henry (knee) was present for Friday's practice, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was also spotted at Thursday's practice, but ended up being listed as a non-participant, as he was Wednesday. Friday's final injury report will reveal both Henry's official participation level, as well as his game status for the Patriots' Sunday night contest against the Broncos.
Dec 21, 2023
Misses another practice
Henry (knee) remained listed as a non-participant in practice Thursday, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Cox, Henry -- who didn't practice Wednesday -- was present for Thursday's session, but the tight end didn't end up taking a tangible step forward in terms of activity. Henry now has one more chance to get in some practice work before Sunday's game against the Broncos. If Henry is sidelined Week 16, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown would be in line for added snaps at tight end.
Dec 21, 2023
Spotted at practice
Henry (knee) was present for practice Thursday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Lazar, Henry -- who didn't practice Wednesday -- didn't appear to be doing much during the media portion of the session. The tight end's official participation level is thus slated to arrive once the Patriots' second injury report of the week is posted later Thursday.
Dec 20, 2023
Not practicing Wednesday
Henry (knee) wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry picked up a knee injury in this past Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Chiefs after compiling 66 yards and a touchdown. The tight end has scored in each of his last two games, so the Patriots would be without a key offensive player if he's unable to play in Week 16 against the Broncos. Henry could still bolster his chances of playing by returning to practice Thursday or Friday.
Dec 17, 2023
Hurts knee Sunday
Henry was forced out of Sunday's game against the Chiefs with a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Henry had caught seven of his nine targets for a team-high 66 yards and a TD. Next up for the Patriots' Week 15 tight end snaps in his absence are Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown.
Dec 8, 2023
Records pair of TDs in win
Henry brought in all three targets for 40 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 21-18 win over the Steelers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Henry's breakout night, like the performance of the Patriots' typically moribund offense as a whole, was considerably unexpected. The veteran tight end recorded eight- and 24-yard scoring grabs in the second quarter, the second an especially impressive reception among multiple defenders. Henry had only crossed the goal line once since Week 2 prior to Thursday, , and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to replicate his numbers against a stingy Chiefs defense in a Week 15 home battle on Sunday, Dec. 17.
Dec 3, 2023
Another dud despite new QB
Henry caught two of four targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
A change in starting quarterback from Mac Jones to Bailey Zappe didn't lead to an increase in production from either Henry or New England's offense as a whole. After topping 50 yards three times through Week 4, Henry hasn't reached 40 yards in a game since. The struggling tight end will try to get more involved Thursday against the Steelers.
Nov 27, 2023
No targets versus Giants
Henry, who was on the field for 46 of a possible 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Giants, was not targeted in the contest, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Over his two previous games, Henry logged a combined seven catches on 11 targets, but none of the Patriots tight ends caught a pass Sunday in a contest marked by the struggles of the team's QB's. Henry will look to rebound this coming weekend against his former team (the Chargers), but given the current state of New England's offense, he looks like a hit-or-miss fantasy option in Week 13.
Nov 12, 2023
Three grabs in Week 10
Henry caught three of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Patriots' passing attack struggled badly once again, with Mac Jones getting benched in favor of Bailey Zappe for the final possession, but Henry still tied Rhamondre Stevenson for second on the team in targets behind Demario Douglas' nine. The veteran tight end has yet to reach 60 receiving yards in a game this season but has caught multiple passes in eight of 10 contests, and Henry's been reliant on TDs for any fantasy upside heading into New England's Week 11 bye.
Nov 5, 2023
Scores first TD since Week 2
Henry caught four of seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
In the team's first game since leading receiver Kendrick Bourne suffered a season-ending ACL tear, Henry notched his highest yardage total since Week 4 and scored his first touchdown since Week 2. The touchdown came from 14 yards out in the second quarter. Henry tied wide receivers Demario Douglas and JuJu Smith-Schuster for the team lead in targets, and the veteran tight end should remain a key part of the Patriots' passing game in Week 10 against the Colts in Frankfurt.
Oct 30, 2023
Three grabs in Week 8 loss
Henry brought in all three targets for 28 yards in the Patriots' 31-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end tied Kendrick Bourne (knee) for second on the Patriots in receptions while finishing third in receiving yards. Henry has, in relative terms, bounced back from a particularly rough two-game stretch in Weeks 5 and 6 where he posted just one catch for seven yards on five targets, now having recorded a 5-55 line on six targets in the ensuing pair of contests. Nevertheless, as with the rest of the Patriots' pass catchers, his output is seemingly capped by Mac Jones' limitations under center, although he could see a larger role in a Week 9 home matchup against the Commanders if DeVante Parker (head) and Kendrick Bourne (knee) are sidelined.
Oct 27, 2023
Good to go for Week 8
Henry (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was removed from the injury report Friday and will look to shake his recent slump Sunday in Miami. After notching at least five targets in each of New England's first four games and topping 50 yards three times over that span, Henry has just eight targets and 34 receiving yards in the last three games combined. In the Patriots' previous matchup with Miami in Week 2, Henry caught six of seven targets for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Oct 26, 2023
Still limited Thursday
Henry (ankle) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry was also limited Wednesday, so unless he practices fully Friday, the tight end figures to approach Sunday's game against the Dolphins with an injury designation. Assuming he's active this weekend, Henry would continue to work in a time-share with Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown, a context that has resulted in the 2016 second-rounder having caught 20 of his 31 targets for 210 yards and two TDs through seven outings.
Oct 25, 2023
Limited practice Wednesday
Henry (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday but returned to a limited session Friday and was listed as questionable ahead of Week 7 action. He ended up suiting up for Sunday's 29-25 win over the Bills and recorded 30 of a possible 60 snaps on offense, while catching two of his three targets for 27 yards. With no reported setbacks in the contest, Henry's listed limitations Wednesday could well be maintenance-related, but he'll need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid an injury designation for this weekend's game against the Dolphins.
Oct 23, 2023
Two catches against Bills
Henry, who was on the field for 30 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 29-25 win over the Bills, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught two of his three targets in the contest for 27 yards.
ANALYSIS
Henry had his ankle rolled up on during Week 6 action and headed into the game listed as questionable, but he ended up in uniform Sunday and shared TE work with Mike Gesicki (30 snaps, two catches) and Pharaoh Brown (23 snaps, two catches). With just three catches for 34 yards over his last three outings, Henry profiles as a TD-dependent fantasy dart ahead of this coming weekend's game against the Dolphins.
Oct 22, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Henry (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who had his ankle rolled up on during last weekend's loss to the Raiders, missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but returned to a limited session Friday and approached the contest listed as questionable. With his active status versus Buffalo confirmed, Henry is slated to continue to work in a time share with fellow TE Mike Gesicki, with Pharaoh Brown also mixing in. It's an arrangement that to date has resulted in Henry catching 18 of his 28 targets for 183 yards and two TD in six games, while Gesicki has recorded a 15/144/0 receiving line in that span. Over his last two appearances, Henry -- who scored TDs in each of his first two outings this season -- has combined for just one catch for seven yards on five targets, a trend that makes him a hit-or-miss fantasy option in Week 7.
Oct 22, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Henry (ankle) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before turning in a limited session Friday, and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game. After a hot start to the season Henry has now recorded just one catch for seven yards on five targets over the last two weeks, but with JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) expected to be unavailable versus Buffalo, he could have a path to increased looks. The Patriots will officially reveal Henry's status 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 20, 2023
Questionable after limited practice
Henry is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills after returning to a limited practice Friday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who had his ankle rolled up on during Week 6 action, missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but his return to Friday's session, albeit in a limited capacity, gives him a chance to be available this weekend. If, however, Henry is out or limited versus Buffalo, fellow TE Mike Gesicki would see increased work in Week 7, while Pharaoh Brown would also be a candidate for added snaps. Either way, Henry's status will be confirmed before the first wave of games Sunday, with the Patriots kicking off at 1:00 ET.
Oct 19, 2023
Misses another practice
Henry (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Henry was spotted during the media-access portion of Thursday's session, but the tight end ended up being deemed a 'DNP' for the second straight day. What Henry is able to do Friday will be pivotal with regard to his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Bills. If he ends up out or limited this weekend, fellow TE Mike Gesicki would see increased work Week 7, with Pharaoh Brown also a candidate for added snaps.
Oct 19, 2023
Back at practice
Henry (ankle) was present for the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry didn't practice Wednesday, so the tight end's return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of being available for Sunday's game against the Bills. Chances are, Henry will be deemed a limited participant, and if so he'll need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a Week 7 injury designation.
Oct 18, 2023
Not spotted at Wednesday's practice
Henry (ankle) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry suffered the ankle injury in this past Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Raiders. He managed to return to the game but finished with just one catch, giving him one reception over the past two games combined after the veteran tight end opened the season with 17 catches through four games. If Henry's limited or out Sunday against the Bills, Mike Gesicki would be in line for more pass catching work at tight end.
Oct 16, 2023
One catch versus Raiders
Henry, who was on the field for 37 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Raiders, caught one of his three targets in the contest for seven yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry left the game briefly after suffering an ankle injury, but was able to return. With that in mind, the tight end is a candidate to appear on the Patriots' Week 7 injury report. Over his last two games, Henry (who scored TDs in each of his first two outings this season) has combined for one catch on five targets, and until he starts seeing more consistent looks in the team's passing game once again, he'll remain a hit-or-miss fantasy option.
Oct 15, 2023
Back in there against Raiders
Henry (ankle) returned to Sunday's game against the Raiders, Mark Daniels of MassLive reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry briefly exited in the second half but promptly returned to the field. The tight end is available to help New England's comeback bid in Vegas.
Oct 15, 2023
Injures ankle Sunday
Henry left Sunday's game against the Raiders after suffering an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit, Henry caught one of his three targets for seven yards. In his absence, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown are available to handle the Patriots' Week 6 tight end duties.
Oct 9, 2023
No catches in Week 5
Henry did not record a catch (on two targets) in Sunday's 34-0 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Henry logged 42 of a possible 54 snaps in the contest, while fellow TE Mike Gesicki was out there for 16 snaps and caught two of his four targets for 17 yards. Until the Patriots offense (which has scored just three points over the last two weeks) picks up the pace, Henry looks like a hit-or-miss fantasy option as the team's Week 6 contest against the Raiders approaches.
Oct 1, 2023
Paces New England pass catchers
Henry recorded four receptions on five targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Henry was one of the few bright spots for New England, as he led the team in targets, receptions and yards. He also accounted for three of the Patriots' longest gains of the day, which went for 21, 14 and 12 yards. Henry has at least five targets in every game this season and has topped 50 receiving yards in three of four contests.
Sep 24, 2023
Ties for team lead in targets
Henry caught two of five targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Henry briefly exited the game in the second half due to an undisclosed injury but was able to return, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. After finding the end zone in each of New England's first two games, Henry saw fellow tight end Pharaoh Brown score the team's only touchdown in this game. Offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has a history of prominently featuring tight ends, and that has certainly been the case this season, though Henry faces competition for touches at the position from both Brown and Mike Gesicki. Henry's five targets tied wide receiver Kendrick Bourne for the team lead, and he should remain among the top targets for Mac Jones in Week 4 against Dallas.
Sep 18, 2023
Tallies another score Sunday
Henry caught six of seven targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Henry has now topped 50 receiving yards with a touchdown in each of his first two games this season. The 28-year-old only tallied two scores over 17 games last year, putting him in position to be a relevant option in fantasy leagues after matching that total through two games. Henry will attempt to keep his strong start rolling against the Jets next Sunday.
Sep 11, 2023
Solid involvement in offense
Henry recorded five receptions on six targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Henry benefitted from a game script that required New England to take to the air, in combination with the absence of both Tyquan Thornton (shoulder) and DeVante Paker (knee). Each of those factors inflated Henry's line to some degree, though he still out-targeted Mike Gesicki. Most importantly, Henry saw opportunity in the red zone and took advantage with a nine-yard touchdown catch late in the second quarter. He should keep a consistent role in the New England offense, but his fantasy viability will come down to his ability to continue to find the end zone.
Sep 6, 2023
Top TE duo ready
As Sunday's season opener against the Eagles approaches, neither Henry or Mike Gesicki appear on the Patriots' Week 1 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Gesicki had previously been managing a shoulder injury, but he's good to go versus the Eagles, which sets the stage for Henry and Gesicki to work in tandem out of the gate this season, with Pharaoh Brown available to handle reserve TE duty. Though there figures to be something of a time-share in play involving Henry and Gesicki, the Patriots seem likely to employ a good amount of two-tight end sets featuring the duo, which could allow both players to yield fantasy utility in 2023.
Aug 25, 2023
Not suiting up Friday
Henry isn't in line to play in Friday's preseason game at Tennessee, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry will make just one appearance during exhibition season last Saturday in Green Bay, where he didn't haul in his only target while playing 16 snaps on offense. Fellow tight end Mike Gesicki (shoulder) also won't suit up Friday, meaning the Patriots will go with Anthony Firkser, Matt Sokol, Scotty Washington and Johnny Lumpkin at tight end. Henry's next chance to play is a Week 1 matchup with the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 10.
Aug 1, 2023
Emerging as red zone target
Henry has been QB Mac Jones's "go-to-guy in the red zone" during training camp, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Henry has some new competition for targets in the form of free-agent addition Mike Gesicki, the 28-year-old has been making plays in training camp, especially around the end zone, per Mark Daniels of Masslive.com. Although the Patriots list Henry at 258 pounds, the tight end indicates that he approached this summer weighing somewhere around the high 240s, and it looks like he's playing faster, per Daniels. Though the presence of Gesicki figures to impact Henry's target volume, there figures to be room for both players to maintain a degree of fantasy utility, and in Henry's case that could be especially so in TD-friendly formats.
Mar 17, 2023
Has new competition for targets
Henry and free-agent addition Mike Gesicki are in line to head the Patriots' tight end corps this coming season, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Since signing a three-year deal with New England in March of 2021, Henry had been working in a time-share with Jonnu Smith. With Smith having recently been traded to the Falcons, however, the Patriots elected to bolster their tight end corps by inking Gesicki to a one-year pact worth up to $9 million. In that context Henry will continue to share snaps and targets in 2023, and given Gesicki's upside as a pass-catcher Henry's week-to-week volume figures to fluctuate this season when both players are available. In 2022, Henry recorded 41 catches on 59 targets for 509 yards and two touchdowns (down from nine scores in 2021) in 17 games. Looking ahead, the 2016 second-rounder's fantasy utility while working in tandem with Gesicki could end up hinging on his level of red zone usage.
Jan 10, 2023
Finishes season with 41 catches
Henry finished up the 2022 season with 41 catches on 59 targets for 509 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games.
ANALYSIS
For the second consecutive season, Henry -- who missed his share of time during his five-year stint with the Chargers -- managed to play all of his team's games. From a volume standpoint, the 2016 second-rounder's production took a modest dip from the 50 catches for 603 yards on 75 targets he logged in 2021, but it was Henry's drop from nine to two TDs that resulted in his overall fantasy utility taking a hit in 2022. The 28-year-old's contract with the Patriots runs through next season, and in 2023 Henry will once again be in line work in a tight end time-share with Jonnu Smith, who is signed with the team through 2024.
Jan 1, 2023
Boost in production Sunday
Henry (knee) secured five of six targets for 52 yards in the Patriots' 23-21 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With position mate Jonnu Smith (concussion) sidelined, Henry saw an uptick in volume and made good use of it. The veteran tight end's reception and receiving yardage totals were both second on the team for the afternoon, and his catch tally was a season high as well. Henry could be in for another expanded role in a critical Week 18 road matchup against the Bills, especially if Smith remains out of action.
Jan 1, 2023
Listed as active Sunday
Henry (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
With fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (concussion) inactive Sunday, Henry has an opportunity to log added snaps and targets versus Miami. In that context, the 2016 second-rounder -- who has put up a 30/415/2 stat line in 15 games thus far -- is in a position to see enough volume to merit fantasy lineup consideration in Week 17.
Dec 31, 2022
Slated to suit up Sunday
Henry (knee) is expected to play Sunday versus the Dolphins, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry departed the Patriots' first drive of a Week 16 matchup with the Bengals with a knee injury and was unable to return. He ended up being limited at all three practices of Week 17 prep, entering the weekend as questionable. Now, Henry appears as if he'll be active Sunday, something that'll confirmed about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 30, 2022
Listed as questionable for Week 17
Henry (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry's status is worth confirming ahead of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but if the tight end is available, he'd have a path to added snaps and targets versus Miami, with Jonnu Smith (concussion) having been ruled out. In that context, Henry would have a decent chance to yield fantasy utility in Week 17 fantasy lineups.
Dec 28, 2022
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Henry (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The knee issue that Henry sustained during Saturday's loss to Cincinnati has him in the day-to-day category at this stage, while fellow TE Jonnu Smith missed Wednesday's practice due to a concussion. If Smith is sidelined this weekend against the Dolphins while Henry is able to play, then Henry could see an uptick in targets in Week 17.
Dec 28, 2022
At practice Wednesday
Henry (knee) was present for Wednesday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry is considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Meanwhile, Jonnu Smith (head) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday and if either of the two tight ends are out this weekend, the Patriots could elevate Matt Sokol from the team's practice squad ahead of Week 17 action.
Dec 26, 2022
Day-to-day, chance to play Sunday
Henry (knee) is considered day-to-day but has a chance to play Sunday against Miami, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was knocked out of Saturday's loss to Cincinnati due to a knee injury and, per Rapoport, is still sore, but the issue doesn't appear to be all that serious. Jonnu Smith (head) also suffered an injury in Week 16, so New England's tight end room could be seriously depleted for a divisional matchup against Miami on Sunday. The Patriots' practice reports this week should provide further clarity on Henry and Smith's availability for Week 17.
Dec 24, 2022
Done for day
Henry (knee) won't return to Saturday's game against the Bengals, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Initially labeled questionable after exiting the Patriots' first possession with the knee injury, Henry will remain on the sideline for the rest of the afternoon and will finish the day without any recorded statistics. Jonnu Smith is the Patriots' only healthy tight end and should play nearly every snap during the second half of the contest.
Dec 24, 2022
Hurts knee Saturday
Henry is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Bengals due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Henry went without a target before exiting the contest to have his knee evaluated. If Henry is done for the day, Jonnu Smith will serve as the Patriots' primary tight end for the rest of the afternoon.
Dec 19, 2022
Two catches in Week 15
Henry, who was on the field for 52 of a possible 65 snaps on offense in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Raiders, caught two of his four targets for nine yards in the contest, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After catching all three of his targets for 70 yards in the Patriots' win over the Cardinals last Monday, Henry's production dipped in a game in which QB Mac Jones threw for just 112 yards. While working in a continued TE timeshare with Jonnu Smith, Henry profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option in advance of New England's final three regular-season contests.
Dec 13, 2022
Receiving yardage leader Monday
Henry secured all three targets for 70 yards in the Patriots' 27-13 win over the Cardinals on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Henry paced the Patriots in receiving yards, a tally he largely built on a game-long 39-yard grab. The veteran tight end's yardage total was also a season high, and he's now recorded at least 50 receiving yards in three of the last five games. Henry will aim to continue his upward trajectory in a favorable Week 15 road matchup against the Raiders.
Dec 2, 2022
Catches two passes Thursday
Henry was on the field for 47 of a possible 54 snaps on offense in Thursday's 24-10 loss to the Bills en route to catching two of his five targets for 13 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith logged 17 snaps while catching both of his targets for six yards. Through 12 games, Henry has recorded 25 catches on 39 targets for 336 yards, but has only scored two TDs to date after finding the end zone a career high nine times in 17 contests last season. As long as he operates in a time-share with Smith, the 2016 second-rounder will remain a hit-or-miss fantasy option down the stretch.
Nov 25, 2022
Posts best yardage total of season
Henry recorded three catches on five targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 33-26 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Henry posted a season-best yardage total and was targeted at least five times in a game for only the third time in 2022. The highlight of his performance came on a 37-yard touchdown catch, during which Henry got open down the middle of the field before weaving his way through several defenders into the end zone. He looked to be on the cusp of another touchdown one possession later, but he had a receiving score overturned after officials determined Henry didn't complete a catch.
Nov 21, 2022
Logs one target Sunday
Henry, who was on the field for 53 of a possible 63 snaps on offense in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Jets, caught his only target in the contest for 20 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Henry out-snapped Jonnu Smith (34 snaps) in the contest, it was Smith (four catches for 40 yards) who was more involved in the team's passing game in Week 11. As Thursday night's game against the Vikings approaches, both of New England's tight ends profile as hit-or-miss fantasy options due to their ongoing time share.
Nov 6, 2022
Records four catches
Henry recorded four receptions on four targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Patriots seemed to prioritize getting their tight ends involved in Sunday's win against the Colts, as Henry and Jonnu Smith combined to see eight targets. Henry did the majority of his damage on a 30-yard catch early in the fourth quarter -- New England's longest play from scrimmage -- to help set up a field goal on the same drive. Overall, he now has three games with at least four catches and 50 yards on the campaign.
Oct 31, 2022
One catch in Week 8
Henry caught his only target for 22 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Henry logged 50 of a possible 78 snaps on offense in the contest -- as did fellow tight end Jonnu Smith -- but for the second straight game he was held to just one catch. With unsteady target volume so far this season, Henry profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option this coming Sunday against the Colts.
Oct 25, 2022
One catch in Week 7
Henry, who recorded 44 of a possible 52 snaps on offense in Monday's 33-14 loss to the Bears, caught one of his two targets in the contest for 12 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith logged 17 snaps, while catching one of his three targets for four yards. Henry's one-catch effort Monday arrives on the heels of back-to-back four-catch outings, but with 14 catches (on 23 targets) for 168 yards and one TD in seven games overall, the 27-year-old -- who scored nine times in 17 outings in 2021 -- provides modest fantasy lineup upside ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets.
Oct 16, 2022
Another productive showing Sunday
Henry brought in four of seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' 38-15 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end followed up what had been a season-best 4-54 tally in Week 5 against the Lions with a new high-water mark in receiving yardage and his first touchdown catch of the campaign to boot. Henry got loose on a nifty 31-yard play for his score with just under six minutes to go in the third quarter, and considering he logged a career-high nine touchdowns last season, there could be more end-zone trips coming whether he works with Bailey Zappe or Mac Jones (ankle) in the Week 7 Monday night matchup versus the Bears.
Oct 9, 2022
Reemerges in Week 5 win
Henry brought in four of five targets for 54 yards in the Patriots' 29-0 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Henry produced season-high numbers across the board while working with rookie Bailey Zappe, who leaned on him a good amount as a security blanket. Henry has a pair of one-target games this season, but with nine looks over the last two games, his fortunes may be turning in that regard. However, Jonnu Smith's absence Sunday due to an ankle injury helped boost Henry's workload.
Oct 3, 2022
Catches two passes Sunday
Henry was on the field for 49 of a possible 58 snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Packers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with fellow tight end Jonnu Smith limited to 17 snaps due to an ankle injury, Henry caught just two of his four targets for 13 yards in the contest. If Smith is forced to miss time, Henry could see an uptick in targets during that span, but so far this season, the Patriots' tight ends haven't been great sources of fantasy production and given the team's injuries at the QB position, Henry profiles as a hit-or-miss lineup option ahead of this coming Sunday's game against the Lions.
Sep 26, 2022
One catch in Week 3
Henry logged 46 of a possible 66 snaps on offense in Sunday's 37-26 loss to the Ravens, en route to catching his only target for eight yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith, who was on the field for 39 snaps in the contest, caught all four of his targets for 25 yards. Back-to-back one-target outings don't inspire confidence with regard to Henry's Week 4 fantasy prospects, and with QB Mac Jones (ankle) now on the mend, Henry's upside in the coming weeks could hinge on building a rapport with veteran signal caller Brian Hoyer.
Sep 19, 2022
No catches in Week 2
Henry, who logged 34 a possible 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 17-14 win over the Steelers, did not catch his lone target in the contest, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For his part, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith was out there for 39 snaps Sunday, en route to recording three targets and zero catches. Looking ahead to Week 3, Henry -- who put up a 50-603-9 stat line in 2021-- profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option in advance of this coming Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Sep 12, 2022
Two catches in Week 1
Henry logged 44 of a possible 57 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Dolphins, en route catching two of his three targets for 20 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith was out there for 39 snaps, catching three of his four targets for 33 yards. With the Patriots not rostering a fullback, the team figures to feature plenty of two-tight end sets this coming season. In that context, both Henry and Smith should see steady playing time, but as long as there's a TE time-share in play, Henry -- who recorded a 50/603/9 stat line in 2021 -- looks like a TD-dependent fantasy option.
Aug 26, 2022
Two catches in preseason loss
Henry secured both targets for 23 yards in the Patriots' 23-6 preseason loss to the Raiders on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Henry logged his first target on the Patriots' third drive and finished with a productive showing relative to playing time. The veteran tight end was a success in his first campaign in New England in 2021, recording a career-high nine touchdowns alongside a 50-603 line while playing all 17 games. Henry should be in for volume similar to last season's 75 targets, at minimum, and he could well be a primary beneficiary of Mac Jones' expected leap forward in his second season.
Aug 22, 2022
Back on the field
Henry (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, Mike Dussault of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry -- who finished the 2021 campaign with 50 catches (on 75 targets) for 603 yards and a career-high nine TDs in 17 games -- is once in line to work in tandem with fellow tight end Jonnu Smith this coming season. While that's something that can cap Henry's target volume when both are available, the 2016 second-rounder's nose for the end zone should allow him to retain fantasy utility in most formats, so long as he can avoid missing time with injuries.
Aug 19, 2022
Not spotted in warmups
Henry, who missed practice earlier this week with an undisclosed injury, wasn't present for warmups in advance of Friday's preseason contest against the Panthers, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears as though Henry is in line to sit out the contest, with the Patriots having signed Jalen Wydermyer to provide the team with added tight end depth ahead of Friday's contest.
Aug 17, 2022
Absent Wednesday
Henry was absent from Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry went through a limited practice Tuesday before not being spotted at all Wednesday. The team hasn't disclosed an issue, but it appears to be short-term and should not affect Henry's status for a Week 1 matchup against the Dolphins.
Jul 29, 2022
Good to go for training camp
Henry, who was limited some during last month's minicamp due to an undisclosed injury, has been participating in training camp, Paul Perillo of the Patriots' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As the 2022 campaign approaches, Henry --- who finished last season with 50 catches (on 75 targets) for 603 yards and a career-high nine TDs in 17 games -- is once in line to work in tandem with fellow tight end Jonnu Smith, a context that caps Henry's volume when both are available. That said, Henry's nose for the end zone should allow him to remain a startable weekly fantasy option in most formats, so long as the 27-year-old avoids injury issues as he did during his first year with the Patriots.
Jun 8, 2022
Dealing with undisclosed injury
Henry was limited during Wednesday's minicamp practice due to an undisclosed injury, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry and fellow tight end Dalton Keene (undisclosed) were both limited, along with Jakobi Meyers (undisclosed) and James White (hip). Cox noted that all four offensive weapons spent the majority of the session on the rehab field, but the severity of their respective injuries remains unknown.
Jan 26, 2022
Sets career mark for TDs
Henry finished the 2021 regular season with 50 catches on 75 targets for 603 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns in 17 games.
ANALYSIS
For the first time in his NFL career, the 2016 second-rounder played his team's full slate of games. Henry, who is signed through 2023, joined the Patriots as a splashy free agent signing last March along with fellow tight end Jonnu Smith. Though the duo operated in a time-share, it was Henry who was more involved in the passing game in his first campaign with New England. This coming season, Henry and Smith -- who is signed through 2024 -- are in line to continue to work in tandem, an arrangement that caps Henry's volume when both are available, but should still yield fantasy utility for Henry, given his nose for the end zone.
Jan 10, 2022
Leading receiver in loss
Henry caught five of six targets for 86 yards in Sunday's 33-24 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
The tight end led the Patriots in catches and receiving yards, but it was the team's backfield that accounted for all three of its TDs. Henry finishes the regular season with 55 catches on 81 targets for a career-high 689 yards and nine touchdowns, and he figures to be Mac Jones' most reliable option in Saturday's wild-card round clash with the Bills.
Jan 3, 2022
Three catches versus Jaguars
Henry was on the field for 39 of a possible 72 snaps on offense in Sunday's 50-10 win over the Jaguars, en route to catching three of his five targets for 37 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fellow tight end Jonnu Smith out-snapped (42) Henry in the contest, but was only targeted once (for a 20-yard gain). Henry's volume and yardage totals have been has been sporadic of late, but he remains on the fantasy radar due to his TD potential. Through 16 games to date, he's logged a 45/517/9 stat line on 69 targets.
Dec 27, 2021
One catch in Week 16
Henry was on the field for 55 of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 33-21 loss to the Bills, en route to catching one of his six targets for nine yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith logged 21 snaps and wasn't targeted in the contest. Henry's Week 16 fantasy dud follows an effort last weekend in which he caught six of eight targets for a season-high 77 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to the Colts. A stat line somewhere in the middle of that range is a plausible projection for him versus the Jaguars this coming Sunday.
Dec 19, 2021
Finds end zone twice against Colts
Henry caught six of eight targets for 77 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 27-17 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
He was the leading receiver for either team on the night, and both of Mac Jones' TD passes wound up in Henry's secure hands on a pair of red-zone strikes in the fourth quarter. The tight end has a career-high nine touchdowns on the season through 14 games, and he'll look to reach double digits in a Week 16 rematch with the Bills.
Dec 7, 2021
No targets Monday
Henry was not targeted in Monday night's 14-10 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Henry's first game without a target as a Patriots came on a most unusual night, with the team throwing merely three times due to extremely windy conditions. Although fellow tight end Jonnu Smith was fortunate enough to haul in one of those attempts for a 12-yard gain, Henry was restricted to work as a blocker. While New England's game plan was sufficient to get the win Monday, Henry may look forward to a more conventional scheme once the team returns from its bye week to face the Colts in Week 15.
Nov 29, 2021
Two catches in Week 12
Henry, who logged 41 of a possible 60 snaps in Sunday's 36-13 win over the Titans, caught two of his five targets for 16 yards in the contest, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith saw action on 34 snaps and caught three of his four targets for 49 yards against his former team. Henry's now had back-to-back quiet outings and profiles as a TD-dependent option in Week 13 fantasy lineups, while facing a tough Bills' pass defense on the road this coming Monday night.
Nov 28, 2021
Active for Sunday's game
Henry (neck) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
As is fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder), which sets the stage the duo to continue to work in a time-share. In the context of that arrangement Henry has been more productive from a fantasy standpoint, having put together a 33-378-7 stat line in 11 games compared to Smith's 22-210-1 tally over the course of 10 contests.
Nov 28, 2021
On track to play Sunday
Henry (neck) is expected to play Sunday against the Titans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder) also heads into the contest listed as questionable, but if both are available they'll continue to work in a time-share against Tennessee. Official confirmation of the duo's Week 12 status will arrive once the Patriots' inactives are posted prior to Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff.
Nov 26, 2021
Listed as questionable versus Titans
Henry (neck) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans after practicing in a limited fashion this past week.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder), with the Patriots having listed a total of 10 players as questionable for the contest. Fortunately, the duo's Week 12 status will be clarified prior to the first wave of games Sunday, with New England and Tennessee kicking off at 1:00 ET. Though Henry's been working in a time-share with Smith, he's been more productive from a fantasy perspective, recording a 33/378/7 stat line in 11 games compared to Smith's 22/210/1 totals through 10 contests.
Nov 24, 2021
Limited practice Wednesday
Henry (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
As was fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder), but at this stage neither seem likely to miss Sunday's game against the Titans. That said, unless either tight end is able to practice fully by the end of the week, the duo could head into the weekend officially listed as questionable. That said, Andrew Callahan of Boston Herald points out that all 13 players the Patriots listed as questionable for last Thursday's win over the Falcons ended up suiting up for the contest.
Nov 18, 2021
Limited to two grabs Thursday
Henry secured two of three targets for 25 yards in the Patriots' 25-0 win over the Falcons on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end saw a two-game touchdown streak snapped, and he now has recorded two or fewer receptions in five of the last six games overall. Henry's knack for the end zone has helped keep his fantasy value robust despite his usually modest reception and yardage totals -- his 6-75-1 line back in Week 5 counts as his best performance of the season -- but in games where he's held without a touchdown, he's subject to some pedestrian stat lines. Henry will have an opportunity to bounce back in a Week 12 home matchup against the Titans a week from Sunday,
Nov 14, 2021
Two more touchdowns
Henry caught four passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns on four targets against Cleveland on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The per-target efficiency here isn't sustainable, but the Patriots might have had reason to throw Henry more targets if the Browns hadn't folded up so early in the 45-7 loss. Although his ceiling might be capped somewhat in a Patriots offense that tends to spread the ball around, Henry has demonstrated a convincing floor in recent weeks and becomes a strong candidate to score whenever the Patriots get within range of the end zone. While his fantasy investors would love to see more targets, a modest target count is a lot easier to accept when the player in question has seven touchdowns in seven games. It's probably safe to say that if Mac Jones throws a touchdown, Henry is a strong bet to be the guy catching it.
Nov 14, 2021
Heads tight end corps Sunday
With Jonnu Smith (shoulder) inactive Sunday against the Browns, Henry is in line to head the Patriots' Week 10 tight end corps.
ANALYSIS
Devin Asiasi and Matt LaCosse are on hand in reserve, but Henry should be busy Sunday with Smith, who he'd been sharing TE snaps with being unavailable. Nine games into the season, Henry has recorded 27 catches (on 38 targets) for 316 yards and five TDs.
Nov 7, 2021
Nabs fifth touchdown
Henry had two receptions (three targets) for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-6 win over Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Henry continues to serve as Mac Jones' top red-zone threat, converting the duo's fifth score from within the 20-yard line this year. The veteran tight end doesn't provide gaudy yardage totals (35.1 yards per game), but his nose for the end zone gives him fringe TE1 value. Fellow tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder) left Sunday's game with an injury and did not return, so Henry could be in line for a couple extra looks against the Browns in Week 10 if the former is unable to suit up.
Nov 1, 2021
One catch in Week 8
Henry logged 50 of a possible 77 snaps on offense, en route to catching one of his three targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Chargers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith was out there for 49 snaps and caught both of his targets for 13 yards. Henry headed into Week 8 action in the midst of a four-game scoring streak, and looking ahead to next Sunday's game against the Panthers he profiles as a TD-dependent fantasy option while operating in a time-share.
Oct 24, 2021
Finds end zone in drubbing of Jets
Henry caught two of three targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 54-13 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Henry scored from one yard out in the final minute of the first half, bobbling the ball in the back of the end zone but ultimately securing possession. He has found the end zone in each of his last four games, and Henry could see a bump in volume if fellow tight end Jonnu Smith -- who exited early with a shoulder injury -- is unable to suit up in Week 8 against the Chargers.
Oct 17, 2021
Finds end zone again Sunday
Henry caught both his targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-29 overtime loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
The tight end caught a 20-yard strike from Mac Jones in the first quarter, giving Henry a TD for the third straight game. The two targets were a season low for the former Charger, but he's caught multiple passes in every game this year and he's establishing himself as Jones' favorite red-zone option heading into a Week 7 clash with the Jets.
Oct 4, 2021
Hits pay dirt on SNF
Henry had four receptions (five targets) for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Henry was finally able to record a touchdown after failing in the first three attempts with his new club. Fellow tight end, Jonnu Smith, was also able to score (three catches for 14 yards and a score) in Mac Jones' first multi-touchdown game this year. Henry remains the more appealing option based on playing time, but both tight ends eat into each other's production and put a low ceiling on their respective fantasy values. The Texans are next on the docket for the Patriots' tight end duo.
Sep 27, 2021
Catches five passes in Week 3
Henry was on the field for 52 of a possible 72 snaps on offense in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Saints, en route to catching five of his season-high six targets for 36 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith had a forgettable day, hauling in just one of his six targets (also a season high) for four yards, while logging 30 snaps. Through New England's first three games, both players have recorded 10 catches and zero TDs, while operating in a time-share that caps their respective weekly fantasy ceilings.
Sep 20, 2021
Catches two passes in Week 2
Henry logged 47 of a possible 58 snaps on offense in Sunday's 25-6 win over the Jets, en route to catching two of his four targets for 42 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith was on the field for 29 snaps and hauled in four of his five targets for 28 yards. In Week 1, Henry (54 snaps) and Smith (55 snaps) saw virtually identical workloads, but it's possible that Smith's decrease in action versus the Jets was related to the hip issue that had him listed as questionable for the contest. In any case, as long as a time-share is in play, the duo of Henry and Smith will continue to cap each other's weekly fantasy ceiling.
Sep 13, 2021
Catches three passes in Week 1
Henry was on the field for 54 of a possible 75 snaps on offense in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Jonnu Smith logged 55 snaps, as the Patriots predictably featured their share of two-TE sets in Week 1. In the process, Henry hauled in all three of his targets for 31 yards, while Smith ended up catching all five of his targets for 42 yards, while fumbling once (recovered). As long as both players are available, their weekly target volume will fluctuate, but on the plus side, the duo does seem destined for steady playing time this season.
Sep 8, 2021
Not listed on Week 1 injury report
Henry (shoulder) isn't listed on the Patriots' Week 1 injury report.
ANALYSIS
With that, Henry is line to make his debut with the Patriots in Sunday's season opener against the Dolphins. In a passing attack helmed by rookie QB Mac Jones, Henry is being counted on to combine with fellow newcomer Jonnu Smith to form a potent one-two pass-catching punch, with the team expected to roll out plenty of multi-tight end formations featuring the duo.
Sep 6, 2021
Expects to play in Week 1
Henry (shoulder) indicated Monday that he expects to play against the Dolphins in Sunday's regular-season opener, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry is bouncing back from a shoulder injury that suffered during practice Aug. 8, but it appears as though he's trending toward suiting up in Week 1, barring any setbacks. Added clarity with regard to his status should arrive no later than Wednesday, when the Patriots submit their first practice/injury report of the 2021 season. Once cleared to play, Henry is slated to combine with fellow newcomer Jonnu Smith to form a potent one-two punch in a New England offense that figures to roll out plenty of multi-tight end formations, with rookie QB Mac Jones under center for the team.
Aug 29, 2021
Won't play Sunday
Henry (shoulder) didn't suit up for Sunday's preseason finale versus the Giants, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry has been managing a shoulder injury and has been limited in practice, so this comes as no surprise. The tight end will now shift his focus to readying for Week 1 action, when he'll look to combine with fellow free-agent acquisition Jonnu Smith to form a potent 1-2 punch at a position that wasn't very productive for the Patriots in 2020.
Aug 25, 2021
Does 7-on-7 work
Henry (shoulder) participated in seven-on-seven drills during Wednesday's practice, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While Henry didn't see any 11-on-11 work, his participation in practice Wednesday suggests that he's on track to be ready to go in advanced of Week 1. The Patriots, however, could well elect to err on the side of caution with the tight end by holding him out of Sunday's preseason finale against the Giants. Henry and fellow t newcomer Jonnu Smith are in line to work in tandem as a potent one-two punch in a New England attack that figures roll out plenty of multi-TE formations this coming season.
Aug 19, 2021
Not expected to play Thursday
Henry (shoulder) isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Andrew Callahan of Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow TE's Jonnu Smith (ankle) and Matt LaCosse, which should result in Devin Asiasi being busy Thursday night. Henry's been making progress since suffering a shoulder injury earlier this month, but it's unclear if he'll make his game debut with the Patriots before Week 1 of the regular season.
Aug 16, 2021
Travels with team
Henry made the trip to Philadelphia for joint practices with the Eagles this week, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A report last Monday suggested Henry would miss multiple weeks, but he was spotted at Sunday's practice and apparently now has a chance to participate in joint sessions with the Eagles. Meanwhile, fellow Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith figures to miss at least a day or two after spraining his ankle Sunday.
Aug 15, 2021
Back at practice
Henry (shoulder) was spotted at practice Sunday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if Henry will be considered a full participant, but his presence on the field gives him a chance to return to game action as soon Thursday against the Eagles. This coming season, Henry and fellow free-agent newcomer Jonnu Smith are in line to work in tandem as a one-two punch in a New England attack that figures to use plenty of multi-TE formations.
Aug 10, 2021
Could miss preseason
The MRI that Henry underwent Monday on his shoulder revealed no serious injury, but the Patriots expect him to be sidelined for "a couple of weeks," Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
New England remains optimistic that Henry will gain full clearance in advance of their week 1 matchup Sept. 12 versus the Dolphins, but the shoulder injury he suffered Sunday looks like it will cost him some opportunities to build chemistry with quarterbacks Cam Newton and Mac Jones in practices and during the preseason. For what it's worth, head coach Bill Belichick labeled Henry as "day-to-day" when he met with the media Tuesday, but expect the Patriots to proceed cautiously nonetheless with the veteran tight end, who signed a three-year, $37.5 million deal with New England in March.
Aug 9, 2021
Scheduled for MRI
Henry's shoulder injury is painful, but the Patriots are optimistic an MRI won't reveal anything serious, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The report adds that Henry could miss some time this preseason even if the MRI brings good news. He was removed from Sunday's practice with an apparent shoulder injury and now seems highly unlikely to suit up for Thursday's exhibition opener against Washington.

Getting shoulder checked out
Henry appeared to tweak his shoulder during Sunday's practice, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cox notes that the tight end was checked out by head trainer Jim Whalen afterward. For now, consider Henry day-to-day in advance of Thursday's preseason opener against Washington. When healthy, Henry and Jonnu Smith are set to serve as a talented 1-2 punch in an offense that could use plenty of multi-TE formations this coming season.

Solid effort at minicamp
Henry turned in a good performance during the Patriots' three-day minicamp, which concluded Wednesday, Mike Dussault of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Henry, who joined the Patriots as a free agent in March, was "catching everything thrown his way" throughout the team's recent mandatory minicamp. Meanwhile, fellow newcomer Jonnu Smith appeared to tweak a hamstring and was "mostly a spectator," but both players should be available the next time the Patriots practice. By signing each of the duo to lucrative contracts, the team seems destined to employ plenty of multi-TE formations this coming season, a context that should allow both Henry and Smith to carve out fantasy value, though their target distribution figures to vary from week to week.
Jun 10, 2021
Suffers apparent ankle/foot injury
Henry departed Thursday's OTA with an apparent left ankle or foot injury and had to get it retaped by the trainer, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports. He didn't return to the session.
ANALYSIS
Given that Henry didn't leave the field for testing, it seems likely the issue is relatively minor in nature. Barring word to the contrary, Henry's next opportunity to retake the field arrives Friday in the team's last OTA before the start of mandatory minicamp next week.
Mar 16, 2021
Joining Jonnu Smith in New England
Henry is signing a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Patriots add another big name to their long list of free-agent acquisitions -- a group that also includes TE Jonnu Smith and WRs Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor. The addition of Henry points to frequent use of multi-TE formations, which could be part of a run-first offense if Cam Newton is still the starting QB. This isn't the best landing spot in terms of Henry's 2021 fantasy value, but partnering with Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels could nonetheless prove wise long-term.
Mar 9, 2021
Won't be tagged
The Chargers won't use their franchise tag on Henry, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Doing so would have resulted in a cap hit for Henry that would have been close to $13 million. Popper notes that the Chargers still figure to be looking to re-sign the tight end to a long-term deal, but unless that happens in short order Henry will be able to explore other options once free agency opens.

Activated from COVID-19 list
The Chargers activated Henry (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, according to the league's official transactions report.
ANALYSIS
Henry was forced to miss Los Angeles' season-finale against Kansas City after being placed on the COVID-19 list. In all, he wraps up the 2020 season with a career-high 60 catches (93 targets) for 613 yards and four touchdowns across 14 appearances. The 26-year-old tight end played on the non-exclusive franchise tag in 2020, which sets him up to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Chargers will have the option of retaining Henry for 2021 by franchising him again, though his $10.6 million salary would rise significantly.

Set to miss finale
The Chargers won't activate Henry from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Chiefs, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry will thus conclude the 2020 campaign with consecutive absences after having yet to clear all health-related protocols since he was added to the list Dec. 24. While Henry was sidelined for the Week 16 loss to the Broncos, Donald Parham led Chargers tight ends in offensive snap share (81 percent), but Stephen Anderson (44 percent of snaps) doubled him up in targets, 6-3. Expect both Parham and Anderson to have prominent roles in the Week 17 passing game, as another key target in top wideout Keenan Allen (reserve/COVID-19 list) will also be sitting out.
Dec 27, 2020
Not playing Sunday
Henry, who is on the COVID-19 reserve list, is not available for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Also out is top wide receiver Keenan Allen (hamstring), so the Chargers will be without two of their top pass-catching options in Week 16. In Henry's absence, Donald Parham is expected to fill in as the team's starting tight end Sunday.
Dec 26, 2020
Trending toward absence Sunday
The Chargers elevated tight end Matt Sokol from the practice squad Saturday, which may indicate the team isn't expecting Henry (undisclosed) to be available Sunday against the Broncos, Gavino Borquez of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness and was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list one day later, giving him very little time to make his way through league protocols to be able to suit up for game day. If Henry doesn't return to the active roster in time for Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, Donald Parham is slated to start at tight end for L.A.
Dec 25, 2020
Expected to miss Sunday's game
Henry isn't likely to be removed from the COVID-19 reserve list in time for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Nick Kosmider and Daniel Popper of The Athletic report.
ANALYSIS
Henry was listed on the Wednesday injury report with an illness and later placed on the COVID-19 list. Coach Anthony Lynn said Donald Parham will fill in as the starting tight end if Henry isn't able to play.
Dec 24, 2020
Lands on COVID-19 list
Coach Anthony Lynn relayed Thursday that Henry is on the COVID-19 reserve list, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynn added that Donald Parham would start at tight end for the Chargers this weekend against the Broncos if Henry is unable to play Sunday.
Dec 23, 2020
Sits out practice
Henry (illness) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry's status will thus need to be monitored as Sunday's game against the Broncos approaches, though a return to practice Thursday, at any participation level, would suggest that the tight end is in no danger of sitting out Week 16 action.
Dec 18, 2020
Productive night in win
Henry brought in five of seven targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 30-27 overtime win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The athletic tight end locked in a solid fantasy night early courtesy of a 10-yard touchdown grab in the latter portion of the first quarter that opened the scoring on the night for both teams. Henry went on to post his second-highest yardage total since Week 2, and he's now just 40 yards away from exceeding the career-high 652 receiving yards he recorded last season over 12 games. The fourth-year pro will look to accomplish the feat in a Week 16 divisional contest against the Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 27.
Dec 16, 2020
Sheds injury designation
Henry (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation into Thursday's game against the Raiders after practicing fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry's practice participation revved up as the week progressed, and the Chargers' top tight end should be all systems go against Las Vegas. He'll look to top his modest output of four catches for 33 yards from the Week 9 meeting between these AFC West foes.
Dec 15, 2020
Limited on Tuesday's report
Henry (hip) was limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
All of the Chargers' key non-QB skill-position players are tending to injuries, but all of Keenan Allen (hamstring), Austin Ekeler (quadricep), Mike Williams (back) and Henry would have practiced in some capacity Tuesday after DNPs one day prior. The pattern indicates coach Anthony Lynn is taking a similar approach with each of the quartet, but Wednesday's report will reveal if any of them are in danger of being limited or sitting out Thursday in Las Vegas.
Dec 14, 2020
Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Henry (hip) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
As was Keenan Allen (hamstring), Mike Williams (back) and Austin Ekeler (quad). We'll look for added context on the status of the quartet of key skill players Tuesday, as the Chargers ramp up their preparation for Thursday night's game against the Raiders.
Dec 13, 2020
Hardly difference maker in win
Henry corralled six of his eight targets for 41 yards in the 20-17 win Sunday over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Henry briefly appeared to injury his shoulder in the second half, but the tight end returned almost immediately after. Sunday marked the sixth time over the last eight games Henry has seen at least six targets, but he's hardly been much of a difference maker considering his paltry average depth of target. Provided he stays healthy for the rest of the season, it's almost guaranteed the 26-year-old will set a career-high in terms of receiving yards, but it's hardly the type of breakout season Henry was hoping for entering 2020 on a franchise tag.
Dec 6, 2020
Hardly involved in blowout loss
Henry caught one of two targets for five yards during Sunday's 45-0 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Henry's output was his worst of the season across the board as he was hardly involved despite the fact that his team played from behind for much of the day. This dud came as even more of a surprise considering he had two touchdowns and an average of 48.3 yards per game over his last three. Henry has been a reliable target for most of the season and will look to get back on track next Sunday against a Falcons defense that has been susceptible to opposing tight ends this season.
Nov 29, 2020
Unspectacular in loss
Henry caught seven of his 10 targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
It was another effective fantasy day for Henry who continues to build a rapport with quarterback Justin Herbert. Although the big-bodied tight end failed to score a touchdown for the first time in three games, he did tie a season-high in receptions and also saw a season-high in targets with the Chargers facing an early double-digit deficit. Henry has been consistent, yet not spectacular this season, and should be hard-pressed to capitalize on the momentum in a tough matchup against New England next week.
Nov 22, 2020
Scores for second straight game
Henry caught four of seven targets for 48 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 34-28 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Henry tied for third on the team in targets and hauled in exactly four receptions for the fifth time in the last six games. He made a two-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter to help his team stretch the lead, giving him scores in back-to-back games after going without one the previous three outings. Henry should have plenty of chances to continue thriving in next Sunday's road matchup with the Bills.
Nov 15, 2020
Ends three-game scoring drought
Henry caught four of his six targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
The tight end is probably thankful to have a mobile signal caller considering Henry's touchdown was essentially a byproduct of the defense converging on Justin Herbert in the red zone, allowing for an easy score. That might be one of the few times fantasy managers have been thankful for the increased mobility as Sunday marked just the second time since Week 2 that the tight end saw a target within the five-yard line. At this point, it's clear the Chargers would rather rely on Herbert's legs (three red-zone rushing TDs) in close quarters as opposed to targeting their big bodies out wide. The schematic change between Herbert and long-time starter Philip Rivers has come at the cost of Henry and Mike Williams' red-zone opportunities, though Week 11 might be a fruitful matchup considering the Jets' ineptitude for much of the season.
Nov 8, 2020
Limited numbers once again
Henry caught four of his seven targets for 33 yards in the 31-26 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
While the oddity of having back-to-back weeks with exactly four receptions and 33 yards receiving might be humorous, it's a less-than-ideal outcome for fantasy managers given what was supposedly a plus matchup. Henry continues to see plenty of targets (53), but an average depth of target of 6.9 yards indicates the almost absurd levels the Chargers take to make sure the tight end provides relief short across the middle of the field.
Nov 3, 2020
Snares four targets
Henry caught all four of his targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-30 loss against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Henry converted every one of his targets and also saw a season-high 84 snaps. While Henry has only scored one touchdown this season, he is on pace to set career highs in receptions and receiving yards, although that's a byproduct of the tight end's lack of durability through five seasons. Just four red zone targets halfway through the campaign is a bit concerning especially after the loss of Austin Ekeler (hamstring), but the Chargers' offense has been relatively efficient with shot plays outside the 20-yard mark which could explain the lack of opportunities somewhat.
Oct 25, 2020
Takes back seat to backups
Henry caught three of seven targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 39-29 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Henry drew the Chargers' second most targets Sunday, behind only Keenan Allen (13), but backup tight ends Virgil Green (ankle) and Donald Parham were both the recipients of rookie quarterback Justin Herbert's touchdown passes to the position. While Henry's 23 yards were tied with last week's total as his lowest mark of the season, the 25-year-old's opportunities were once again there, as he was even targeted in the end zone during Los Angeles' first drive of the day. In Week 8 he'll face the task of taking on a Denver defense that just limited Travis Kelce to 31 yards.
Oct 13, 2020
Scores in defeat
Henry caught four of eight targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Henry posted his lowest yardage total through five games despite teammate Keenan Allen (back) exiting early Monday. While it wasn't a particularly efficient night for the tight end, Henry still came through with a three-yard touchdown prior to halftime. That play marked Henry's first score of the season, salvaging significant value while giving him decent momentum ahead of a favorable Week 6 matchup versus the Jets.
Oct 6, 2020
Little action Week 4
Henry brought in two of three targets for 39 yards in the Chargers' 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Henry struggled compared to last week against the Panthers seeing just three targets, although he did accumulate the second most out of the team's receivers. Keenan Allen continued to siphon the majority of the team's targets, receiving almost 50 percent compared to Henry's 12. Things could change next week against the Saints who allowed the second most fantasy points to tight ends thus far and it's possible Henry could see a bit more work in the red zone if Mike Williams (hamstring) is unable to play again.
Sep 27, 2020
Kept in check
Henry gathered five of his seven targets for 50 yards in the 21-16 loss Sunday to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
It might not have been a massive performance for Henry, but the tight end was an athletic mismatch in the middle of the field which Justin Herbert continued to rely on. That's now three games in which Henry has caught at least five passes, and he's been targeted 23 times during that stretch good for second-best on the team. Curiously he's been less than involved in the red zone although both of the team's scores came from outside 10 yards which might explain the anomaly. The Buccaneers, who play the Chargers in Week 4, just held Noah Fant to a paltry 46 yards across 10 targets, so fantasy managers might want to temper expectations when it comes to Henry's performance next week.
Sep 24, 2020
Practices fully
Henry (ankle) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who was on the field for 86 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps in Week 2's overtime loss to Kansas City, should remain busy this Sunday against the Panthers. The tight end will look to continue to build his chemistry with quarterback Justin Herbert, after catching six passes (on eight targets) for 83 yards in the rookie signal-caller's surprise start last weekend.
Sep 23, 2020
Logs limited practice session
Henry (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Henry was on the field for 86 percent of the Chargers' snaps on offense in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City, en route to hauling in six of his eight targets for 83 yards. We'll track the tight end's status as the week rolls along, but so far there's nothing to suggest that he won't be catching passes from rookie QB Justin Herbert this weekend against the Panthers.
Sep 20, 2020
Strong effort in OT loss
Henry caught six of eight targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
First-round pick Justin Herbert got a surprise start under center in place of Tyrod Taylor (chest) and he relied heavily on his tight end in his NFL debut, with only Keenan Allen seeing more targets from the rookie than Henry did. The fifth-year player could see steady volume again in Week 3, but he could struggle to make an impact against a Panthers defense that held Darren Waller in check in its opener and which has been far more vulnerable on the ground than through the air so far.
Sep 13, 2020
Leads team in receiving yards
Henry caught five of his eight targets for 73 yards in the 16-13 win Sunday over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Henry played better than the box score might indicate as his 33-yard reception towards the end of the first half proved to be critical in waking up a lethargic Chargers offense. It was almost an excellent fantasy day for the 25-year-old, but a late fourth-quarter target in the end zone saw Henry just miss getting two feet down to clutch what would have been the game-winning touchdown. It's clear the Chargers still need to work out some kinks in their offensive scheme, but Henry's play Sunday was certainly a promising mark in a pivotal year for the big tight end.
Jul 16, 2020
Stuck on franchise tag
Henry and the Chargers didn't reach an agreement on a contract extension before Wednesday's deadline, Jeff Miller of the LA Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old tight end will play out 2020 with a base salary of $10.6 million under the franchise tag, potentially facing a second tag for $12.7 million next offseason. Despite missing four games with a knee injury early in the season, Henry finished 2019 with career highs for targets (76), receptions (55) and yards (652). He did slow down in December, when he was limited to a 16-165-2 receiving line in five games. The combination of Tyrod Taylor and Justin Herbert at quarterback isn't ideal, but Henry at least figures to handle a three-down for the 2020 Chargers, competing for targets with Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams.
Jul 11, 2020
Likely stuck on franchise tag
Henry is not expected to sign an extension before the July 15 deadline, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange Country Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who already signed his $10.6 million franchise tag tender, didn't sound optimistic about a possible extension before the July 15 deadline saying, "I'm just going to go out there. I get a chance to play this year and do my thing this year. I'm pretty locked in on what I got ahead of me in the 2020 season. That's what I'm locked in for, you know, I don't like to look too far ahead." The star tight end has ran into a slew of different injuries throughout his career, but has still piled together 1,709 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns despite missing 23 games over the past four seasons.
May 25, 2020
Willing to play under tag
Henry is willing to play under the franchise tag, though he prefers a long-term contract, SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. "I think it's fine," Henry said when he was asked about the tag. "I mean, obviously, I would like to get something done... just for security, in the long term."
ANALYSIS
Henry signed the franchise tender in April, ending any discussion of a possible holdout. He said it's been a while since serious contract negotiations took place, but he's hoping to get a deal done this summer. The tight end also mentioned that he's been able to talk and throw with rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, the sixth overall pick from April's draft. The Chargers still expect Tyrod Taylor to get the Week 1 start, but recent history shows that first-round QBs tend to get on the field sooner rather than later.
Apr 16, 2020
Long-term extension looming?
Henry, who agreed to sign his franchise tag, is still expected to sign a multi-year deal with the Chargers, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry and the Chargers have until July 15 to comes to terms on an extension, otherwise he'll presumably play under the $10.6 million franchise tag in 2020. The 2016 second-round pick has been a staple of the team's offense when healthy, but knee injuries in consecutive seasons have limited him to just 12 of 32 games. With long-time veteran Philip Rivers now with the Colts, Henry could have an even greater emphasis as a reliable underneath target for whoever is eventually under center to start the new campaign.
Apr 13, 2020
Accepts franchise tag
Henry will sign his $10.61 million franchise tender Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was hopeful to secure an extension with the Chargers this offseason, but the poor durability he's shown during his first four NFL seasons may have prevented any discussions about a long-term deal from gaining any serious traction. The franchise tag will at least make him one of the NFL's top-paid tight ends during the 2020 season, when he'll look to prove his health and stay productive as the Chargers move on from longtime signal-caller Philip Rivers. Los Angeles is expected to proceed with Tyrod Taylor as its starter entering training camp, but the team could invest its first-round pick into a quarterback who could challenge the veteran for the top job.
Mar 13, 2020
Gets franchise tag
The Chargers have decided to franchise tag Henry, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The move was expected and signals the team's desire to keep a key playmaker in the fold. The 25-year-old is coming off a 2019 season in which he hauled in 55 passes for 652 yards and five TDs in 12 games. Who will be throwing the talented tight end passes this coming season remains to be seen, however, with the Chargers planning to move on from long-time franchise QB Philip Rivers.
Mar 11, 2020
Expected to be retained
Henry is considered the team's top priority in free agency, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Retaining Henry has seemingly been the Chargers main concern since the end of the season, to the point where it seems like a foregone conclusion the team would ultimately place a franchise tag on their star tight end should they ultimately fail to lock-in a long-term deal. The 25-year-old has been an obvious weapon when on the field, but missing 22 games over the past four seasons could ultimately keep the tight end's market slightly depreciated. The Chargers certainly aren't hurting for cap space, particularly after it was announced long-time franchise icon, Philip Rivers, would not return to the team for his 17th professional season, but a new signal caller will inevitably eat into that cap figure this offseason. The Chargers will have until March 16, 11:59 a.m. ET to offer the fourth-year tight end the franchise tag.
Oct 13, 2019
Catches two TDs in return
Henry (knee) caught eight of his nine targets for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 24-17 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
So much for concerns Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com. The starting tight end was making his return to the field after a four-game absence due to a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee. Henry was the primary beneficiary of a spirited fourth-quarter rally, catching three passes, including two touchdowns, in the fourth quarter. With the Steelers' defense hell-bent on stopping Keenan Allen, both Henry and Mike Williams received the largest target volume as the two combined for 19 targets, although most of that production occurred in the second half as the Chargers tried to erase a three-score deficit. While it's unlikely Henry will benefit from that level of junk-time production moving forward, it's clear the 6-foot-5 tight end will be a major red zone weapon moving forward.
Oct 13, 2019
Returns to lineup Sunday
Henry (knee) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Henry -- who suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee in Week 1 - will give it a go Sunday night, but Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com previously relayed that coach Anthony Lynn seems inclined to limit the tight end's snaps in his return to action. Henry is thus a speculative fantasy play in Week 6, but as long as he avoids any setbacks as the season rolls along, he figures to see his workload increase incrementally in the coming weeks.
Oct 13, 2019
Expected to play Sunday
Henry (knee), who is listed as questionable on the official injury report, is expected to play Sunday night against Pittsburgh, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry was able to fully practice Friday, so it looks like he will return after missing four games. However, the Chargers' late kickoff presents some risk for fantasy owners as his status may not be known until 90 minutes before the 8:20 ET kickoff Sunday night. Even if does return, Henry -- who suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee in Week 1 -- could be eased into action with a reduced workload.
Oct 11, 2019
Listed as questionable, could see limited snaps Sunday
Henry (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Steelers after practicing fully Friday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com, coach Anthony Lynn noted that the team will have a a jog through Saturday and see how Henry is doing at that point. "If feels good, then yeah, I'll put him out there for a few plays," Lynn indicated Friday. With that, as well as the Chargers' late kickoff in mind, Henry is a risky fantasy roll in Week 6. Assuming he avoids any setbacks in the coming days, however, the tight end figures to see his workload increase incrementally and once he's able to handle his normal allotment of snaps, he'll merit weekly lineup consideration.
Oct 10, 2019
Logs another limited practice Thursday
Henry (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
That Henry was able to log another limited practice session implies that things went well for him in his return to the field Wednesday. It remains to be seen, however, if the tight end is a candidate to return to action this weekend against the Steelers, with Friday's final Week 6 injury report hopefully adding clarity on that front, especially given the team's 8:20 ET kickoff Sunday night.
Oct 9, 2019
Listed as limited practice participant
Henry (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if the tight end will be able to suit up Sunday night against the Steelers, but Henry -- who suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee in Week 1 -- is clearly progressing to the point where he's a candidate to re-enter the fantasy equation as soon as he's he's able to log his usual complement of snaps.
Oct 9, 2019
On track to return to practice
Henry (knee) is slated to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry, who suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee in Week 1, thus continues to trend in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Steelers approaches. It remains to be seen if the tight end will progress to the point that he'll be active this weekend, but Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com previously relayed via coach Anthony Lynn that Henry "was moving around pretty good last week" while working with trainers.
Oct 8, 2019
May get practice reps soon
Coach Anthony Lynn said Henry (knee) could participate in practice this week, Myles Simmons of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. "He was moving around pretty good last week," Lynn said. "So we'll see if we can try to work him in [to practice] this week. But there's no guarantee he'll be back."
ANALYSIS
Henry worked on the side with trainers in practice last week, and a return to team practices is the next step in his recovery. Even if he's able to get on the practice field, though, he's still considered a long shot to play Sunday versus the Steelers unless he can elevate to full participation and take contact. Henry appears to have a good shot at playing Week 7 versus the Titans, however, and he's be a decent waiver-wire stash given how consistent tight ends are a commodity once again.
Oct 2, 2019
Making progress
Henry (knee) was spotted on the field in shorts and a T-shirt working on his own during practice Wednesday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com notes that Henry is improving at this stage, with coach Anthony Lynn indicating that the team will see where the tight end is at later this week. Though Henry isn't a candidate to play in Week 5, the progress he appears to be making is encouraging.
