Good to go Week 7
Carter (heel) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old defensive tackle missed Week 6 due to the heel injury but will return to the field Sunday in Minnesota. Carter has tallied 10 tackles (three solo) and is without a sack through five games this season, and his return will be a big boost to Philly's defensive front.
Oct 18, 2025
Expected to play vs. Minnesota
Carter (heel) is questionable to play against the Vikings on Sunday but is trending toward being available, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter was unable to suit up for Week 6 against the Giants due to a heel injury. The 2023 first-rounder registered an FP-LP-LP practice log this past week, which earned him the questionable tag for Week 7. Carter's return would be a welcome one for the Eagles' defensive front, though it would result in less rotational snaps for Byron Young and rookie fourth-rounder Ty Robinson.

Gets questionable tag Week 7
Carter (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles felt Carter's absence in their Week 6 loss to the Giants, surrendering three rushing touchdowns to Cam Skattebo. The standout defensive tackle's status for Sunday's game against the Vikings is up in the air after he logged consecutive limited practices Thursday and Friday following a full session Wednesday. Carter said Wednesday that he intends to play.
Oct 16, 2025
Limited practice Thursday
Carter (heel) was a limited participant at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Carter opened the week as a full participant at practice and expressed that he expects to play in Week 7. The defensive lineman missed the team's Week 6 loss to the Giants while dealing with a heel injury, and it's unclear if he suffered a setback Thursday. Carter will have one more chance to log a full practice Friday before the team travels to face the Vikings on Sunday.
Oct 15, 2025
Expects to play Week 7
Carter (heel) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and said that he'll play this Sunday versus the Vikings, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter dealt with a heel injury last week and was unable to suit up on Thursday Night Football against the Giants. The heel issue appears to have improved significantly, and Carter said that a shoulder injury that has bothered him since training camp is doing better as well, per McManus. Carter thus seemed poised to move back to his usual starting role along the defensive line Sunday in Minnesota.
Oct 9, 2025
No go for TNF
Carter (heel) has been ruled out for Thursday night's contest against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Carter first appeared on the injury report Wednesday with a heel injury, which will now force him to miss at least one week of action. In his absence, Za'Darius Smith and Byron Young stand to see an increase in workload on the defensive line versus New York.
Oct 8, 2025
Questionable for Week 6
Carter (heel) is listed as questionable ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old popped up on the Eagles' injury report Wednesday as a limited practice participant due to a heel issue, leaving his status for Thursday night's divisional matchup up in the air. Carter played through a heel injury in the Week 5 loss to the Broncos, recording four total tackles across 66 defensive snaps. However, if the issue worsened and he's unable to suit up in Week 6, Za'Darius Smith would likely see increased work with the Eagles' first-team defensive line.
Oct 3, 2025
Will play against Denver
Carter (shoulder) was a full participant in Friday's practice and does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's tilt against Denver.
ANALYSIS
Carter ended the week with back-to-back full practices, and his shoulder injury won't prevent him from playing in Sunday's home game. The 2023 first-rounder has registered six tackles (two solo) in the three games since being ejected early in the Eagles' Week 1 win over the Cowboys.
Oct 2, 2025
Logs full practice Thursday
Carter (shoulder) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Carter aggravated a shoulder injury during the Eagles' Week 4 win over the Buccaneers. He was limited in Wednesday's practice, but his ability to participate in full Thursday indicates that he should play against the Broncos on Sunday. The 2023 first-rounder has tallied six tackles (two solo) through the first four games of the regular season.
Oct 1, 2025
Limited in Wednesday's practice
Carter (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Carter aggravated his shoulder injury in last Sunday's win over the Bucs and appeared to be in considerable pain on the sideline. However, a limited start to the practice week would suggest Carter doesn't have an overly serious injury. The disruptive lineman has logged six tackles (two solo) and five QB hits across three games this season.
Sep 28, 2025
Aggravates shoulder injury in win
Carter told reporters that he aggravated his shoulder injury during the Eagles' 31-25 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter briefly left in the fourth quarter, but he managed to finish out the game and ended with one solo tackle. The 2023 first-rounder will undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury, which could prevent him from playing in the Eagles' Week 5 clash against the Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 5. Byron Young and Za'Darius Smith would be in line to see additional snaps on the Eagles' defensive line if Carter misses time.

Will play Week 2 vs. Kansas City
The NFL announced Tuesday that Carter will receive a $57,222 fine for misconduct during last week's 24-20 win over the Cowboys, but the defensive lineman won't face a suspension and will be available to play Sunday in Kansas City, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter was ejected from the season opener without participating in a defensive play after he approached the Cowboys' offensive huddle on the opening drive and appeared to spit on quarterback Dak Prescott. Because Carter didn't play a single snap Week 1, the NFL is considering the 24-year-old to have already served a one-game suspension, though he'll be fined the equivalent of one game check. Carter has waived his right to appeal the punishment and will turn his focus to Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Sep 4, 2025
Ejected from Week 1 contest
Carter was ejected from Thursday's game after appearing to spit on Dak Prescott, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter didn't record a snap before being ejected. He approached the Cowboys' huddle as an injured player was being evaluated by trainers. Carter then exchanged words with Prescott and appeared to spit on the quarterback directly in front of an official. Carter's absence will leave a significant hole along the Eagles' defensive line.
Aug 13, 2025
Dominates in Wednesday's practice
Carter (shoulder) participated in the Eagles' joint practice with the Browns on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Carter has been limited to sideline work due to a shoulder injury, but he was active in team drills during Wednesday's practice and made his presence felt at the line of scrimmage. The 2023 first-rounder is coming off a strong sophomore campaign in which he logged 42 tackles (25 solo), including 4.5 sacks, six pass defenses and two forced fumbles across 16 regular-season games. Carter will be the focal point of the Eagles' defensive front that includes Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo and edge rushers Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith (concussion).
Jul 28, 2025
Limited in return to practice
Carter (shoulder) was a limited participant in Monday's training camp practice.
ANALYSIS
Carter missed the first week of training camp due to a shoulder injury. He was limited to sideline work in Monday's return, but it's a positive sign for the 2023 first-rounder. The injury may keep Carter out of preseason games, with the goal for him to be fully healthy for the Eagles' regular-season opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 4.
Jul 23, 2025
Nursing shoulder injury
Carter did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury doesn't appear to be serious as Carter has not been placed on the active/PUP list, but he could be held out of practices and preseason games to avoid aggravating his shoulder. Carter saw a significant increase in his snap count during his sophomore year, and the 2023 first-rounder is expected to take on an even greater role on the Eagles' defensive front in the upcoming season.
Feb 16, 2025
Tallies 4.5 sacks in 2024
Carter accrued 42 tackles (25 solo), including 4.5 sacks, and six passes defended across 16 regular-season games. He added nine tackles (three solo), including two sacks, and three passes defended in four playoff appearances.
ANALYSIS
Carter emerged as one of the NFL's best interior defensive linemen during the 2024 regular season, improving his production in every category aside from a small step back in his sack number. The 2024 Pro Bowler proved dominant during the postseason, especially during the divisional-round win against the Rams when he logged two sacks and a game-sealing QB hurry on Matthew Stafford. Carter should set himself up for a massive contract extension if he logs another strong performance in the 2025 regular season.
Feb 7, 2025
Ready for Super Bowl LIX
Carter practiced in full Friday and does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
ANALYSIS
Carter logged a trio of full practice sessions this week despite being listed with a groin injury. The standout second-year pro, who notched 4.5 sacks across 16 regular-season appearances this season, plus 2.0 sacks across three postseason appearances, will handle his usual starting role helming Philadelphia's interior defensive line, which may receive a boost via the activation of Brandon Graham (elbow) from IR.
Feb 6, 2025
Full practice Thursday
Carter (illness) was a full participant at the Eagles' practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Carter has been dealing with an illness, which has forced him to miss each of the team's first two media availabilities this week, but he now appears to be good to go for Sunday's matchup with Kansas City in the Super Bowl. The defensive lineman has compiled nine total tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also adding three passes defensed and a forced fumble over three games so far in the postseason.
Feb 5, 2025
Limited in Wednesday's practice
Carter was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday's injury report due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Carter missed Wednesday's media availability due to an illness, though he was still able to practice in a limited capacity. He'll have a few days to recover before Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs on Sunday, so the Eagles' practice report over the next two days will be worth monitoring. Carter has arguably been Philadelphia's most impactful defender during the postseason, with his forced fumble and two-sack performance in the NFC divisional round against the Rams being key to the Eagles advancing to the NFC Championship Game.
Jan 5, 2025
Resting in Week 18
Carter (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Carter and a number of other starters were limited or held out of practice this week since the Eagles are locked in as the No. 2 seed in the NFC heading into the postseason. The 2023 first-round pick will finish his second NFL campaign with 42 tackles (25 solo), including 4.5 sacks, six pass defenses and two forced fumbles across 16 regular-season games. Thomas Booker and Moro Ojomo will see more snaps with the first-team defense Sunday due to Carter's absence.
Dec 12, 2024
Practices fully Thursday
Carter (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The defensive tackle was a limited participant Wednesday after appearing on the injury report with the shoulder issue. Carter played on 90 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps in last week's win over the Panthers, logging three solo tackles. The second-year pro has yet to miss a game all year, and he appears on track to play again this Sunday against the Steelers.
Dec 11, 2024
Dealing with shoulder issue
Carter was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.
ANALYSIS
It's not clear when Carter suffered the injury, as he logged his usual large workload (90 percent of Philadelphia's defensive snaps) this past Sunday against Carolina. There's been no word that he's in any danger of missing Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, but it bears monitoring Carter's practice participation the rest of the week. If Carter were to miss any time, Thomas Booker could be asked to take on more defensive work.
Dec 3, 2024
Disruptive in road win
Carter recorded four tackles (three solo) including 1.0 sacks during Sunday's 24-19 win at Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The extent of Carter's impact in Week 13 doesn't fully register in the box score, as he was hurrying passes and hitting ball carriers in the background all evening. He demonstrated remarkable stamina as well, playing 70 of the Eagles' 71 defensive snaps Sunday. Though not necessarily on the IDP radar, he remains one of the best defensive linemen in football going into Week 14.
Oct 21, 2024
Impresses in Week 7
Carter recorded four total tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, in Sunday's 28-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Carter played a season high 96-percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps in Week 7 and it lead to his best performance of the season, sacking Daniel Jones in the second and third quarters of Sunday's win. The 2023 first-round pick out of Georgia has now tallied 14 total tackles, including 6.0 sacks, and three passes defended through Philadelphia's first six games. Expect Carter to continue serving as the Eagles' top interior defensive lineman as the team travels to Cincinnati in Week 8.
Sep 29, 2024
Returns vs. Tampa Bay
Carter (undisclosed) is back on the field for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter briefly left Sunday's game due to cramping, but the 2023 first-round pick has returned to action.
Sep 29, 2024
Leaves game with cramps
Carter (undisclosed) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to cramping.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear where Carter is cramping, but he will remain on the sidelines unless he can get that sorted out. Moro Ojomo and Thomas Booker are likely to see an uptick in snaps at defensive end opposite starter Milton Williams for as long as Carter is out of the game.
Jan 20, 2024
Records 6.0 sacks in rookie season
Carter finished his rookie year with 6.0 sacks, 33 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery (which he returned for a touchdown) in 16 regular-season games.
ANALYSIS
He may have started just one game and played a modest 51 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps, but the ninth-overall pick in the 2023 draft made the most of his opportunities to stake a strong claim for Defensive Rookie of the Year. His sack total ranked third on the Eagles and fifth among all rookies.
Dec 12, 2023
Has scoop-and-score in loss
Carter had one tackle and returned a fumble for a 42-yard touchdown in Sunday's 33-13 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
It turned out to be the Eagles' only touchdown in the blowout loss, as Carter recovered a fumble forced by Fletcher Cox for his first career score. Carter continues to work behind Cox and Jordan Davis on the defensive line and the 2023 first-round pick is up to 27 tackles (16 solo), including four sacks, and two forced fumbles in 12 games this season.
Nov 1, 2023
Logs full practice Wednesday
Carter (back) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Carter sustained a back injury in Sunday's 38-31 win over the Commanders and did not return to the contest. By practicing in full Wednesday, Carter is trending towards being available for the Eagles' Week 9 divisional matchup against the Cowboys.
Oct 30, 2023
Could play Week 9
Carter (back), who left Sunday's 38-31 win over the Commanders, could be available for Week 9 against the Cowboys, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter left Sunday's game with one tackle and did not return. He got some testing done after the game and the results were good enough -- according to McLane -- for Carter to have a chance in playing in Week 9. His practice participation over the week will be something to monitor to see if he's in line to play.
Oct 29, 2023
Leaves game with back injury
Carter (back) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Carter had one tackle and a QB hit before exiting Sunday's game. The Eagles still have Jordan Davis and Fletcher Cox starting in the defensive interior and Milton Williams is a candidate to get more defensive snaps in Carter's absence.
Oct 20, 2023
Will play vs. Dolphins
Carter (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game versus Miami.
ANALYSIS
Carter was forced to sit out of Week 6 at the Jets with an ankle injury, but it looks like he'll be able to play through it in Week 7. He should start next to Fletcher Cox Sunday versus the Dolphins.
Oct 18, 2023
Limited in walkthrough Wednesday
Carter (ankle) was given a limited designation for Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Carter missed last week's loss to the Jets with an ankle injury but managed to return to practice Wednesday. While the rookie first-round pick will look to play versus the Dolphins on Sunday, Marlon Tuipulotu and Kentavius Street should see increased playing time if Carter is out again.
Oct 13, 2023
Out Week 6
Carter (ankle) will not play in Sunday's game against the Jets. Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Carter has had a very strong start to his rookie season, but Sunday will mark his first- career missed game due to injury. He injured his ankle injury during practice, and head coach Nick Sirriani does not expect him to be sidelined long according to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com. Thus, it looks like the Eagles are erring on the side of caution with their promising young-rookie. In his absence, Jordan Davis and Fletcher Cox figure to handle the majority of the work on the interior of Philly's defensive trenches, while Milton Williams and Kentavius Street could see some increased snaps providing depth.
Oct 13, 2023
Shouldn't miss much time
Coach Nick Sirriani said Friday that Carter sustained his ankle injury during practice and that he doesn't think the issue will "keep him out very long," Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sirriani also said, "we'll see" when pressed regarding Carter's potential availability for Sunday at the Jets. Philadelphia's incoming Friday injury report, the last of the week, will provide more insight on that front.
Oct 12, 2023
Tending to ankle injury
Carter (ankle) did not participate at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Carter practiced in full to start the week Wednesday, so he presumably picked up the ankle issue during practice. If he can't get back onto the practice field Friday, he'll likely have to sit out in Week 6 at the Jets.
Oct 10, 2023
Wreaks havoc in Los Angeles
Carter recorded four tackles (three solo), including two sacks, in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Carter continued his strong start to his rookie campaign, taking down the quarterback twice in the Philadelphia's victory. The defensive tackle is now up to 12 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, while also forcing two fumbles over the first five games of his NFL career.
Apr 27, 2023
Draft day slide ends in Philly
The Eagles selected Carter in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, ninth overall.
ANALYSIS
With Carter falling, Philadelphia opted to be proactive and move into the No.9 spot, where Chicago was a threat to grab the defensive tackle. On talent alone, Carter is arguably a top-three player in this class. A 314-pound wrecking ball in the middle of the defensive line that can stop the run and get into the backfield, Carter was a key piece of Georgia's back-to-back national title run. He had a tumultuous pre-draft process, however, including having to leave the combine to report to Athens-Clarke County after being charged with reckless driving. With combine testing out the window, Carter had a lot to prove at the pro day and was not as impressive as many expected. Carter still didn't fall too far, though, and he is now reunited with former Georgia teammate Jordan Davis in the middle of the Philadelphia trenches.
