Two more TDs in Week 14 rout
Smith-Njigba caught seven of 10 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-9 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
After not getting needed in last week's rout of the Vikings, Smith-Njigba was a bigger part of the game plan this time around, hauling in a 28-yard TD from Sam Darnold in the third quarter and a four-yard score in the fourth as the Seahawks pulled away in the second half. JSN has fallen off his 2,000-yard pace over the last couple weeks, but he still leads the NFL by a wide margin with 1,428 yards through 13 games, to go along with 89 catches and nine touchdowns. The third-year wideout will look for another big performance in Week 15 against the Colts.

Falls victim to game script
Smith-Njigba finished with two receptions on four targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 26-0 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba's fantasy managers suffered through an unfavorable game script that saw Seattle's defense and rushing attack take care of Minnesota in Week 13. QB Sam Darnold completed just 54 percent of his passes while failing to establish any rhythm while the game was still competitive in the first half. The end result was Smith-Njigba's worst fantasy score of 2025, which comes on the heels of his most-dominant showing against the Titans last Sunday (8-167-2). JSN is still the clear WR1 in fantasy this season even with this dud, carrying a sparkling 82-1,336-7 receiving line into next Sunday's tilt against the Falcons.
Nov 23, 2025
Season-best performance
Smith-Njigba recorded eight receptions on 10 targets for 167 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Titans. He added one rush for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was the only threat in the Seattle passing game, as he accounted for half of Sam Darnold's completions and over two-thirds of his passing yards. That damage came primarily on a pair of receptions over 50 yards, including a 63-yard catch deep down the right sideline to begin the second quarter. The second was a 56-yard catch, which he then punched in for a 13-yard score two plays later. Smith-Njigba set a season-high in receiving yards with the performance and now has 100 yards in eight of his 11 contests.
Nov 16, 2025
Sets new career mark Sunday
Smith-Njigba corralled nine of 12 targets for 105 yards while adding 11 yards from one carry in Sunday's 21-19 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba needed just 89 receiving yards in order to surpass last year's career-best mark of 1,130 yards. The breakout fantasy star completed the personal achievement comfortably Sunday, and in seven fewer contests to boot. It was JSN's seventh 100-yard game in 10 appearances this season, a feat he accomplished just three times in 2024, to continue putting his ascension into perspective. Smith-Njigba figures to continue producing WR1 numbers as the Seahawks look to get back into the win column against the Titans next Sunday.
Nov 9, 2025
Leading receiver in blowout win
Smith-Njigba corralled five of six targets for 93 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-22 rout of the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba got off to a hot start Sunday when he peeled the top off of Arizona's defense for a 43-yard touchdown on the game's opening drive. JSN was checked for a concussion in the first half, but he returned promptly without issue for the remainder of the contest. The explosive play would end up accounting for most of Smith-Njigba's final fantasy score -- even with the Seahawks dropping 44 points -- after Seattle's defense and rushing attack accounted for the remaining four touchdowns. The breakout superstar became the first player to reach 1,000 yards in receiving this season, and he sits just 89 yards shy of the career best 1,130 yards he posted in 2024. Smith-Njigba will attempt to accomplish the personal achievement in a pivotal NFC West matchup against the Rams next Sunday.
Nov 2, 2025
Gains 140 yards on SNF
Smith-Njigba corralled eight of nine targets for 129 yards while gaining 11 rushing yards on one attempt in Sunday's 38-14 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba extended his impressive streak of recording over 100 receiving yards to four games in Sunday's one-sided affair. It was the breakout superstar's sixth time cracking the century mark in eight starts this year, resulting in a ridiculous 58-948-4 receiving line over that span. JSN will have a prime opportunity to extend his impressive streak of posting triple-digit totals in Week 10 when the Seahawks face the Cardinals' bottom-third ranked pass defense.
Oct 21, 2025
Another dominant showing
Smith-Njigba finished with eight receptions on 14 targets for 123 yards and a touchdown in Monday's27-19 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba turned in another stellar fantasy performance while pacing the Seahawks in every receiving category on Monday Night Football. It was the budding superstar's third-consecutive game recording at least 100 receiving yards while also scoring a touchdown. Smith-Njigba bumped his season totals up to 50-819-4 heading into Seattle's upcoming Week 8 bye, which has the Ohio State product on pace to finish 11 yards shy of a 2,000-yard campaign. JSN will continue his ascension towards the peak of fantasy stardom when the Seahawks take on the Commanders on Nov. 2.
Oct 12, 2025
Continues prolific efforts in win
Smith-Njigba secured eight of 13 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 20-12 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was in the familiar position of leading the Seahawks' air attack in receptions, receiving yards and targets, posting a new season high in the middle category along the way. Smith-Njiba's catch total also tied for second highest of the season, and he added three more catches of 20+ yards, the most prominent 61-yard touchdown grab on a beautifully thrown ball from Sam Darnold. The third-year star now has back-to-back 100-yard tallies for the second time this season and takes a robust 42-696-3 receiving line into a Week 7 home matchup against the Texans on Monday night, Oct. 20.
Oct 5, 2025
Peels top off secondary Sunday
Smith-Njigba corralled eight of nine targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-35 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba put it all together with his first game of the season recording 100 or more yards while also nabbing a touchdown. The outpouring of fantasy production was a welcome sight after the star receiver experienced a gradual reduction in targets from the high-water mark of 13 he set back in Week 1. JSN bumped his receiving line up to 34-534-2 through five appearances as he settles in as QB Sam Darnold's most-trusted option in the passing game. Managers can start Smith-Njigba with confidence heading into a Week 6 road matchup against the Jaguars next Sunday.
Sep 25, 2025
Comes to life in fourth quarter
Smith-Njigba brought in four of five targets for 79 yards in the Seahawks' 23-20 win over the Cardinals on Thursday night. He also rushed three times for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba shockingly didn't make his first catch until 49 seconds remained in the third quarter, but he'd curiously logged three rush attempts by that point. The talented wideout's moonlighting came to an end down the stretch, however, as he contributed key receptions of 11, 36 and 22 yards in the fourth quarter. The latter catch was originally ruled incomplete but overturned on replay, and it positioned the Seahawks at the Cardinals' 40-yard line with 23 seconds remaining. Jason Myers would knock home a game-winning 52-yard field goal two plays later, and Smith-Njigba finished with a solid stat line after his night looked to be in danger of being a washout. Smith-Njigba has seen his reception and receiving yardage totals drop over that of the previous game in each of the last three games, but he remains Sam Darnold's unquestioned No. 1 target heading into a Week 5 home matchup against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Sep 21, 2025
Reels in first TD of 2025
Smith-Njigba (illness) finished with five receptions on six targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-13 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was battling an illness that he had to power through in order to suit up Sunday. Fantasy managers were grateful that he did after Sam Darnold dialed up his No. 1 option for a 12-yard score on Seattle's opening possession. It was Smith-Njigba's first trip to the end zone in 2025, complementing healthy averages of 7.3 receptions and 107.7 yards through three contests. JSN is coming into his own as the Seahawks prepare to face the Cardinals in a matchup of 2-1 NFC West squads on Thursday Night Football in Week 4.
Sep 21, 2025
Active in Week 3
Smith-Njigba (illness) is listed as active Sunday against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was tacked on to the Seahawks' Week 3 injury report Saturday as questionable due to an illness. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Smith-Njigba is dealing with "a bug" and that the team wanted to see how the wide receiver felt when he arrives at Lumen Field on Sunday morning to ensure he's good to go. Smith-Njigba's active listing confirms as much, and he'll be looking to build upon the 17-227-0 line on 22 targets that he's accumulated through two games this season.
Sep 21, 2025
Likely to play through illness
Smith-Njigba (illness) remains listed as questionable heading into Sunday's game against the Saints, but his availability for the Week 3 contest is unlikely to be affected while he bounces back from an unspecified "bug," Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba wasn't included on the injury report all week before the Seahawks designated him as questionable Saturday after he came down with an illness. According to Schefter, the Seahawks gave the third-year wideout the questionable tag seemingly as a precaution more than anything else, but the team will wait and see how Smith-Njigba is feeling upon reporting to Lumen Field on Sunday morning before confirming that he'll suit up. Official word on Smith-Njigba's status will arrive when the Seahawks release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 20, 2025
Now questionable due to illness
Smith-Njigba is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Saints due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba wasn't listed on any of the Seahawks' Week 3 injury reports, but after coming down with an illness, his status now will need to be monitored ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Through two games this season, he's been one of the few bright spots in Seattle's offense, hauling in 17 of 22 targets for 227 yards and no touchdowns.
Sep 14, 2025
Tops 100 yards again Week 2
Smith-Njigba caught eight of 10 targets for 103 yards in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba exceeded 100 receiving yards while pacing the Seahawks in targets, catches and receiving yards for the second time in as many games, quickly establishing himself as the top target for new Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold. JSN's still searching for his first TD of 2025 after scoring six times in his breakout sophomore season last year, but his robust volume gives Smith-Njigba one of the highest fantasy floors among wide receivers heading into a Week 3 home game against the Saints.
Sep 7, 2025
Leading receiver in losing effort
Smith-Njigba finished with nine receptions on 13 targets for 124 yards with a lost fumble in Sunday's 17-13 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba had his coming out party as the unquestioned No. 1 option in Seattle following the departure of DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh this past offseason. The 23-year-old Smith-Njigba received 10 more looks than the next receiver (Cooper Kupp), immediately becoming new starting quarterback Sam Darnold's favorite target. JSN did suffer from a case of fumblitis when he put two balls on the ground (losing possession of one), something the wideout will surely work to clean up in practice. Smith-Njigba will look to build off of a promising start to the campaign when the Seahawks take on the Steelers next Sunday.
Aug 16, 2025
Light work in preseason debut
Smith-Njigba brought in his only target for seven yards in Friday's preseason win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Seattle's key starters on offense got to see the field for the first drive of Friday's exhibition before exiting with a clean bill of health. New starting QB Sam Darnold connected with Smith-Njigba for the first time as teammates for a short gain. With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett joining different clubs this past offseason, Smith-Njigba will attempt to build off of last year's fantasy breakout as Seattle's undisputed No. 1 receiver in 2025.
Aug 15, 2025
Slated to play Friday
GM John Schneider said Seahawks starters, including Smith-Njigba, are in line to play one or two series during Friday's preseason contest against the Chiefs, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike Macdonald already announced Wednesday that QB Sam Darnold was slated to suit up in preseason Week 2, and the likes of Smith-Njigba seem poised to join him. Smith-Njigba sat out the Seahawks' first exhibition last Thursday, but he and newcomer Cooper Kupp are expected to experience their first game action together Friday. With DK Metcalf (Pittsburgh) and Tyler Lockett (Tennessee) in different locales ahead of the current campaign, Smith-Njigba is set to lead Seattle's passing game on the heels of a 100-1,130-6 line on 137 targets in 17 regular-season games in 2024.
Aug 3, 2025
Sitting out preseason opener
Smith-Njigba and the rest of the Seahawks' starters won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Raiders, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cooper Kupp also won't play, but it's unclear if any of the other wide receivers will be sidelined considering rookie Tory Horton and veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling are battling for the No. 3 job. Smith-Njigba is coming off a proficient second NFL season where he recorded 1,130 yards and six touchdowns on a Seahawks' record 100 receptions. He's the clear No. 1 receiver now that DK Metcalf (Steelers) and Tyler Lockett (Titans) are out of the picture.
Mar 8, 2025
New quarterback in 2025
Smith-Njigba will catch passes from a new quarterback in 2025 after the Seahawks traded Geno Smith to the Raiders on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The turbulent week in Seattle continues, as previously the Seahawks released WR Tyler Lockett before fellow WR DK Metcalf requested a trade. Last season, Smith-Njigba led all Seahawks receivers in receptions (100), receiving yards (1,130), and touchdowns (six). While potentially losing Metcalf would force defenses to key in on Smith-Njigba even further, the 2023 first-round pick was superb across two games without Metcalf last year, generating 249 yards and two touchdowns. The bigger concern for Smith-Njigba's fantasy value in 2025 is the quarterback, although he should be a target hog once again considering his role in the slot -- where he played 75 percent of snaps last year -- is secure.
Jan 5, 2025
Quiet finish to stellar campaign
Smith-Njigba corralled four of five targets for nine yards while taking his only carry for four yards in Sunday's 30-25 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba had an unusually quiet finale to what was a true breakout fantasy season in 2024. The 22-year-old still hit a milestone despite Sunday's paltry yardage total, reaching 100 receptions for the first time in just his second season in the NFL. The Ohio State product's 100-1,130-6 receiving line led all Seattle receivers, and he could be in store for even more in 2025 if impending UDFA DK Metcalf decides to part ways with his longtime club after falling into JSN's shadow. Whatever the case, Smith-Njigba is shaping up to make a huge jump in ADP next season after putting up WR1 numbers as a sophomore.
Dec 26, 2024
Modest numbers in win
Smith-Njigba brought in three of six targets for 32 yards in the Seahawks' 6-3 win over the Bears on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
After several noteworthy performances in recent weeks, Smith-Njigba finished with his lowest reception and yardage totals since Week 7, although the former tally tied him for second on the night in catches with several teammates. Smith-Njigba also set the pace in targets for Seattle as he continued to garner plenty of Geno Smith's trust, and he should be due for a bump in production during a critical Week 18 road matchup against the Rams on Sunday, Jan. 5 that could decide the NFC West.
Dec 22, 2024
Stays hot with 100 yards plus TD
Smith-Njigba had eight receptions on 12 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown while taking his lone carry for five yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba combined his rushing and receiving totals to reach 100 yards from scrimmage in addition to scoring his sixth touchdown of the season. The second-year pro has been a second-half sensation for fantasy managers, averaging 7.0 receptions and 96.3 receiving yards over his last eight contests. Despite the loss, it has become apparent that Seattle wants to build its offense around JSN and a talented group of starting wideouts. Smith-Njigba will look to stay red-hot in Week 17 on Thursday against a Bears defense that sits in the bottom third of the league in terms of yards allowed to opposing passing attacks.
Dec 15, 2024
Leading receiver on SNF
Smith-Njigba corralled 10 of 12 targets for 83 receiving yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was the lone bright spot amongst Seattle receivers Sunday, leading the team in every notable category by a large margin. The sophomore standout has quietly become the top wideout for a team boasting two proven veterans at the position. Smith-Njigba has generated at least 69 yards of offense over his last seven contests with four touchdowns scored over that span. Continue riding the hot hand down the stretch as the Seahawks prepare to host the Vikings next Sunday.
Dec 8, 2024
Stays hot with fifth touchdown
Smith-Njigba brought in all five of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown while adding four rushing yards on one attempt in Sunday's 30-18 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba finished as the Seahawks' leading receiver despite finishing third in targets Sunday. The budding sophomore cashed in Seattle's lone passing touchdown while setting a new high in season scores (five). Smith-Njigba has been white-hot in the second half of the schedule, averaging yards 101.5 yards from scrimmage with four total touchdowns over his last six contests. Continue starting JSN with confidence as the Seahawks prepare to face the Packers next Sunday.
Dec 1, 2024
Fourth straight game over 70 yards
Smith-Njigba caught all four of his targets for 74 yards and added a five-yard run in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba had a pair of 25-yard receptions in the first half while no teammate had more than 16 first-half receiving yards. He added a 24-yard reception to convert on fourth down on the final play of the third quarter. Despite his modest volume in this game, Smith-Njigba continued a torrid stretch that has seen him record 441 receiving yards and three touchdowns over the past four games. Those totals include 77 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals, whom JSN will face again in Week 14.
Nov 24, 2024
Leading receiver in Sunday's win
Smith-Njigba caught six of seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-6 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
It was another big performance for the second-year wideout, as even in rainy conditions, he led the Seahawks in receiving while grabbing the game's only offensive TD on a three-yard catch in the second quarter. Over the last four games, Smith-Njigba has delivered a 29-436-3 line on 38 targets, and even with DK Metcalf healthy, the younger receiver may be emerging as Seattle's top downfield threat. Smith-Njigba will look to catch six or more passes for a fifth straight game in Week 13 against the Jets.
Nov 17, 2024
Impressive 10-catch effort Sunday
Smith-Njigba brought in 10 of 11 targets for 110 yards while taking his lone carry for eight yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba stayed hot out of Seattle's Week 10 bye with his third 100-plus yard performance of the season. The 2023 first-round pick is hitting his stride mid-season for the 5-5 Seahawks while providing a couple of monster receiving lines for fantasy managers. Continue to ride Smith-Njigba in Week 12 as the Seahawks prepare to host the Cardinals next Sunday.
Nov 3, 2024
Monstrous output in loss
Smith-Njigba finished with seven receptions (13 targets) for 180 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba produced his finest stat line as a pro despite his team taking the loss Sunday. It was the sophomore's first game with two touchdowns while recording over 100 receiving yards. Smith-Njigba will enter Seattle's bye week with a respectable 50-568-3 receiving line across nine games, setting up a Nov. 17 matchup against San Francisco in Week 11.
Oct 27, 2024
Leading receiver in loss
Smith-Njigba brought in six of seven targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Unlike last week's lopsided win which resulted in single-digit yardage for Smith-Njigba, this week's loss saw the Seahawks throw the ball for nearly the entire second half. The result was a stronger performance for the sophomore wideout despite his team taking a nasty loss. Smith-Njigba has seen his role increase in his second year as a pro, providing a 43/388/1 receiving line through eight games.
Oct 20, 2024
Single-digit yardage in win
Smith-Njigba brought in three of six targets for nine yards in the Seahawks' 34-14 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was held to the second-lowest yardage total of his career by a Falcons defense that has been doing a good job keeping plays in front of it all season. The profoundly disappointing showing followed a relatively encouraging stretch of games for the second-year pro, who'd posted a 32-291-1 line on 47 targets in his previous five games. Given the atypical nature of his numbers Sunday, Smith-Njigba shapes up as a prime candidate for a bounce-back performance against the Bills at home in Week 8, especially if DK Metcalf is limited or sidelined by the knee injury that forced his exit from Sunday's game.
Oct 11, 2024
Solid showing in loss
Smith-Njigba brought in five of nine targets for 53 yards and committed a fumble recovered by Seattle in the Seahawks' 36-24 loss to the 49ers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba got off to a slow start, but he finished third in both receptions and receiving yards and second in targets by night's end. The second-year wideout has enjoyed a robust role in offensive Ryan Grubb's system on most weeks thus far, logging at least seven targets in three straight games and four occasions overall. Smith-Njigba also has at least four receptions in three consecutive contests heading into a Week 7 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Oct 6, 2024
Hits pay dirt Sunday
Smith-Njigba hauled in four of his seven targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-20 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba finally cashed in his first receiving touchdown of the season after being held scoreless in Seattle's previous four contests. The sophomore receiver is now up to a 29-257-1 receiving line through five weeks, giving him modest fantasy value as we pass the quarter point of the regular season. Smith-Njigba and the Seahawks will have a short week of preparation ahead of Thursday's tilt against the 49ers.
Sep 30, 2024
Garners 12 targets on MNF
Smith-Njigba finished with eight catches off of 12 targets for 51 yards in Monday's 42-29 loss to Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba wound up tying DK Metcalf in targets (12) in Monday's exciting primetime matchup, but the latter produced the stronger fantasy line (7-104-0) compared to his upstart teammate. The lack of production makes the sophomore's performance feel underwhelming, but the fact that he garnered double-digit targets twice in Seattle's last three contests bodes well for his ROS projections. JSN remains a solid deep-league play with upside heading into a Week 5 matchup against the Giants.
Sep 22, 2024
Catches all targets for 39 yards
Smith-Njigba finished with three receptions on as many targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 24-3 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks took care of an under-manned Dolphins squad at home, resulting in a low-output game from Smith-Njigba. The sophomore wideout was coming off of his best game of the season, so fantasy managers should not give up on the youngster so soon. Let's see how Smith-Njigba is used against the Lions next Monday before making any rash decisions on developing talent.
Sep 15, 2024
First 100-yard game
Smith-Njigba recorded 12 receptions on 16 targets for 117 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks showed more aggression through the air than in Week 1 and targets condensed around Smith-Njigba and DK Metcalf. Metcalf stole the headlines with a 56-yard touchdown catch, but Smith-Njigba emerged as Geno Smith's favorite target in all areas of the field throughout the day. As a result, he was able to tally receptions of 24, 19, 16 and 14 yards to record the first 100-yard game of his career. The Seahawks' offensive strategy is likely to vary from week to week, but Smith-Njigba has gained the trust of Smith and will be a key part of the team's passing attack.
Sep 9, 2024
Just two catches in debut
Smith-Njigba caught both of his targets for 19 total yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
It was an underwhelming performance for the second-year receiver, especially with Tyler Lockett catching six passes for 77 yards and DK Metcalf catching three passes for 29 yards. Still, it's encouraging that Smith-Njigba played 53 of 67 offensive snaps (79 percent) while Lockett played just 26 snaps (54 percent). That bodes well for his long-term outlook, but he may have a tough Week 2 matchup on tap against a Patriots team that just held Joe Burrow to 164 passing yards.
Aug 25, 2024
Pair of catches in preseason finale
Smith-Njigba brought in both his targets for 32 yards in the Seahawks' 37-33 preseason win over the Browns on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was out there with DK Metcalf as the starting wideout duo for Geno Smith on Seattle's opening possession, and the second-year receiver made good use of his opportunity. Smith-Njigba was the target on Smith's first completion, which resulted in a 25-yard gain down the right side of the field. The 2023 first-round pick added a seven-yard grab later in the drive, and he projects to open the regular season as the No. 3 receiver behind Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (leg) but could very well improve that standing as the campaign unfolds.
Aug 10, 2024
Two catches in preseason opener
Smith-Njigba brought in both targets for 13 yards in the Seahawks' 16-3 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout operated as the de facto No. 1 receiver for spot starter Sam Howell with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf both held out. Both of Smith-Njigba's catches came on the Seahawks' third possession, and looking ahead to the 2024 regular season, the 2023 first-round pick could make a serious push to overtake Lockett for No. 2 receiver duties after posting a solid 63-628-4 line across 17 regular-season games as a rookie.
Jul 25, 2024
Back at practice
Smith-Njigba (shoulder) participated in Wednesday's practice, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba made multiple contested catches during practice, including a 50-yard toss from Geno Smith, showing he is past the shoulder injury that forced him from OTAs in June. Dugar projects that Smith-Njigba will take the next step in the offense this season and challenge defenses at every level, something we rarely saw in 2023 when he was mainly used as an underneath target. Still, his exact role is to be determined, as commanding targets away from DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett is a tall task.
Jun 13, 2024
Exits practice with shoulder injury
Smith-Njigba left Wednesday's practice early with a shoulder injury that coach Mike Macdonald doesn't consider serious, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Macdonald cancelled the last day of minicamp (Thursday) to reward his players for a good offseason, so Smith-Njigba's next opportunity to practice will be at the start of training camp in late July. It sounds like the Seahawks expect him to be healthy before then, but we may not have confirmation for a while with players and teams going their separate ways during the league's summer break.
Jan 9, 2024
Solid rookie campaign
Smith-Njigba recorded 63 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns across 17 games in the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was the first wideout off the board in April's draft but finished 10th among all receivers with 628 receiving yards. The Ohio State product was set as the team's No. 3 receiver behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who combined for more than 2,000 receiving yards. He's still just 21 years old until February, so Smith-Njigba has plenty of runway to improve and look like a top NFL receiver. It will be tough to truly thrive as long as Lockett and Metcalf are around, though.
Dec 31, 2023
Notches TD on only catch Sunday
Smith-Njigba gathered in one of two passes for 12 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The target count matched Smith-Njigba's second fewest in a game on the season, but he reached the end zone from 12 yards out to salvage his Week 17. Meanwhile, all of WRs DK Metcalf (eight) and Tyler Lockett (five), TE Noah Fant (six) and RB Zach Charbonnet (five) were targeted on at least five occasions. Smith-Njigba will aim to get back on track Week 18 on the road against a Cardinals defense that has given up the fifth-most yards per target (8.9) to opposing wide receivers on the campaign.

Full practice Thursday
Smith-Njigba (knee) practiced fully Thursday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
ANALYSIS
After a knee injury resulted in Smith-Njigba being limited at Wednesday's walkthrough, the rookie wide receiver was able to handle every practice rep one day later, paving the way for him to suit up Sunday against the Steelers. The same can be said for undrafted rookie WR Jake Bobo (knee), while Dee Eskridge (ribs) didn't practice again Thursday and DK Metcalf (back) was added to the Seahawks' injury report as a DNP. There's no indication yet that Metcalf may be in danger of sitting out this weekend, but if he's inhibited or inactive, Smith-Njigba would be in line for a bigger workload alongside Tyler Lockett.
Dec 27, 2023
Dealing with knee concern
Smith-Njigba was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough due to a knee injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba consistently has earned a snap share of at least 60 percent per game since the Seahawks' Week 5 bye, recording a 47-540-3 line on 66 targets over the last 11 contests. The rookie first-round pick has yet to break through with the first signature performance of his career, though, which isn't a shock on a team that stresses the run game and also features veteran wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Staring down the final two games of the regular season, Smith-Njigba now will have to work his way past a health concern in order to suit up Sunday versus the Steelers.
Dec 24, 2023
Hauls in six passes Sunday
Smith-Njigba recorded six catches (on seven targets) for 61 yards during Sunday's 20-17 win at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba welcomed back Geno Smith (groin) to the lineup after the quarterback missed the previous two games. While Smith-Njigba's output wasn't out of the realm of previous games during his rookie campaign, he surpassed 60 yards receiving for the fourth time in 15 contests and was only three yards shy of setting a new career high. As long as DK Metcalf (4-56-1 on six targets Sunday) and Tyler Lockett (8-81-0 on 11 targets) are healthy, Smith-Njigba will continue to play third fiddle, at best, in the Seahawks' passing game. Smith-Njigba's next chance to produce arrives Sunday, Dec. 31 against the Steelers.
Dec 19, 2023
Catches game-winning TD
Smith-Njigba caught all four of his targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 20-17 win over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba played the role of hero for Seattle when he caught the game-winning touchdown with just seconds left in Monday's narrow victory. The rookie wideout had just three catches on three targets for 19 yards prior to scoring in the closing moments, so his role remains small despite producing a solid fantasy line in the win. Smith-Njigba should continue offering deep-league value when the Seahawks take on the Titans in Week 16.
Dec 11, 2023
Catches four passes
Smith-Njigba caught four of seven targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 28-16 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba looked like he was starting to heat up ahead of Week 14. However, Drew Lock got the starting nod in place of Geno Smith (groin), and Smith-Njigba only caught short passes as a result. His longest catch of the day was for 11 yards against this fierce divisional foe. He'll continue to work as the No. 3 wideout in this rotation, but the rookie's upside has been limited all year. He has yet to surpass 63 receiving yards in a game, and he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 8.
Dec 1, 2023
Seven grabs in loss
Smith-Njigba brought in seven of 11 targets for 62 yards in the Seahawks' 41-35 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie led the Seahawks in receptions with a new single-game-high catch total, and he was just a yard short of equaling his high-water mark in that category as well. Smith-Njigba's target total also was his highest yet, and he's now drawn at least five looks in four of the last five games. Smith-Njigba could be in for another busy game when Seattle engages in a rematch with the high-powered 49ers on the road in Week 14.
Nov 24, 2023
Team-high yardage tally Thursday
Smith-Njigba brought in two of three targets for 41 yards in the Seahawks' 31-13 loss to the 49ers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie led the Seahawks in receiving yards despite a relatively modest total, with that feat largely accomplished via a game-long 34-yard one-handed grab down the right sideline early in the third quarter. Smith-Njigba now has a streak of four games with 40+ receiving yards, one he'll look to extend in a Week 13 Thursday night road matchup versus the Cowboys.
Nov 19, 2023
Finishes third in receiving yards
Smith-Njigba had three receptions on six targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba would have had a fourth reception for 22 additional yards had the Rams not challenged the wideout's diving attempt in the first quarter and had the call correctly changed to an incompletion. Still, it was another solid outing from Seattle's slot receiver, who is averaging four receptions and 50.5 yards in six games since the team's bye in Week 5. Smith-Njigba should continue providing consistent value to managers in deeper leagues when the Seahawks host the 49ers for Thursday Night Football in Week 12.
Nov 13, 2023
Reels in four passes
Smith-Njigba caught four of five targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 29-26 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
After a slow start to the season, Smith-Njigba has been consistent over the past five weeks, averaging 52.6 receiving yards per game and totaling two touchdowns. The rookie first-round pick still hasn't put forth a true breakout performance -- 63 yards is his season high -- but it's encouraging that he's a steady part of this offense. The Seahawks will face the Rams' young secondary in Week 11, so Smith-Njigba will have a favorable matchup even if he's still the third receiving option.
Nov 9, 2023
Full practice Thursday
Smith-Njigba (hip) was a full practice participant Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was held out of drills Wednesday due to a hip concern, but his ability to handle every rep one day later indicates he's good to go for Week 10 action. He'll be facing a Commanders defense on Sunday that has given up the second-most touchdowns (13) and most yards per catch (9.9) to opposing wide receivers in nine games this season.
Nov 8, 2023
Dealing with hip issue
Smith-Njigba was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice due to a hip injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Since tending to a slight fracture in his wrist late in the preseason, Smith-Njigba has avoided the injury bug en route to a collective 29-272-2 line on 43 targets in eight games to begin his career. Most of that production (17-210-2 on 23 targets) has come over the last four contests, but the rookie first-rounder now is dealing with a health concern as Seattle prepares to host the Commanders on Sunday. As a result, Smith-Njigba's status should be watched as the week goes on to ensure his status for Week 10 isn't in any danger.
Nov 5, 2023
Stacking positive performances
Smith-Njigba recorded six receptions on seven targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 37-3 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The majority of Smith-Njigba's production came with the game out of reach, though he now has at least 60 receiving yards in two of his last three contests to go along with two scores. The highlight of his performance Sunday came on a 35-yard catch deep down the right sideline on the first play of the fourth quarter. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf will almost certainly be the top pass catchers in the Seattle offense moving forward, but Smith-Njigba is showing signs of a breakout with his recent performances.
Oct 30, 2023
Catches game-winning score
Smith-Njigba recorded three receptions on four targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was sporadically involved in the game, though he managed a 19-yard reception midway through the second quarter to set up Seattle's second touchdown of the game. He caught a touchdown of his own with 44 seconds remaining in the game, which turned out to be the winning score. Smith-Njigba has now found the end zone in consecutive games, though the return of DK Metcalf served to significantly limit his opportunity.
Oct 22, 2023
Delivers TD in spot start
Smith-Njigba finished with four receptions on seven targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Starter DK Metcalf (ribs/hip) missed the first game of his career due to injury Sunday, opening the door for Smith-Njigba to make his first career start. The rookie wideout wound up leading Seattle in receiving while also cashing in the first touchdown of his career in the win. It was a game of firsts for Smith-Njigba, but he may have to wait for his next opportunity to shine if Metcalf -- who was a game-time decision for Sunday's contest -- is able to return against the Browns in Week 8.
Oct 22, 2023
Increased role on tap
Smith-Njigba is in line for an elevated role in Sunday's contest against the Cardinals with DK Metcalf (ribs/hip) inactive, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Tyler Lockett also is active Sunday, he operated with a cap on his practice reps during Week 7 prep due to a hamstring injury, meaning Smith-Njigba is the healthiest among the Seahawks' top two available wide receivers. If Smith-Njigba's volume in the passing game increases, he'll be looking to build upon the 16-110-0 line on 25 targets that he's accrued through the first five games of his career.
Oct 15, 2023
Best day as pro
Smith-Njigba recorded four catches on five targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba didn't see an expanded role, as he now has five or six targets in four of five games on the season. However, he did manage an 18-yard reception -- the longest of his career-- to produce his highest yardage output in a game on the campaign. Smith-Njigba will continue to work behind both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in terms of priority in the offense moving forward, but it was encouraging to see him deployed in a slightly more aggressive manner.
Oct 3, 2023
Three short catches
Smith-Njigba caught three of six targets for five yards in Monday's 24-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba is being used almost exclusively near the line of scrimmage, evidenced by his 12 catches on 20 targets for 62 yards (5.2 YPR) this year. It's disappointing for the first-round pick, but it's encouraging that he's still averaging five targets per game. It's worth noting that he suffered a fractured wrist in training camp and likely wasn't 100 percent coming into the season, so the Week 5 bye could help get him more acclimated to the system.
Sep 25, 2023
Held to one catch
Smith-Njigba caught one of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 37-27 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba logged 31 of 71 offensive snaps (44 percent), which was his lowest snap share of the season and barely ahead of fellow rookie Jake Bobo (41 percent). Bobo caught just one pass for a five-yard touchdown on two targets. It's certainly a little concerning that Smith-Njigba essentially tied with an undrafted rookie for snap share, but it's worth noting that the Seahawks ran the ball 29 times and Bobo is considered a high-end run blocker. Still, fantasy managers haven't seen enough to trust Smith-Njigba in their lineups, and they probably won't feel comfortable as long as DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are dominating the target share.
Sep 17, 2023
Reels in five passes
Smith-Njigba caught five of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 37-31 overtime win versus the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba exited the game briefly with what appeared to be a leg injury, per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. However, the rookie was cleared and finished tied for second on the team in targets with DK Metcalf. Smith-Njigba has only connected on short passes thus far, as his longest gain of the day was 16 yards. Nevertheless, it's promising that the first-round pick is getting targeted frequently through two weeks. It's just a matter of time before he truly breaks out.
Sep 10, 2023
Targeted five times Sunday
Smith-Njigba (wrist) finished with three catches (five targets) for 13 yards in Sunday's blowout loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was bottled up like rest of the Seahawks' receiving corps minus DK Metcalf, who scored the team's lone touchdown Sunday. The positive takeaway for the rookie was his presence in the lineup and his usage (five targets tied for team lead) following wrist surgery just over three weeks prior to kickoff. Smith-Njigba appears to have a lock on the slot position in Seattle, and he could see extra targets against the Lions next week if Tyler Lockett (head) has lingering effects after missing part of Sunday's loss.
Sep 8, 2023
No role limitations after surgery
Coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Smith-Njigba won't have any limitations Sunday against the Rams despite have wrist surgery less than three weeks ago, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Reports on a return timeline were all over the place after the rookie broke a bone in his wrist during a preseason game, and he ultimately made it back on the field in keeping with the most optimistic of estimates. Smith-Njigba was a full practice participant throughout the week and should quickly become one of the league's busier No. 3 receivers, even while sharing an offense with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Sep 6, 2023
Full practice Wednesday
Smith-Njigba (wrist) practiced fully Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba has made a speedy recovery following an Aug. 24 procedure to repair a slight fracture in his right wrist. It didn't take long for him to return to practice on Aug. 29, and now a little more than a week later, he was able to handle every available rep. The rookie first-round pick thus is slated to be Seattle's No. 3 wide receiver behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett this Sunday against the Rams.
Sep 6, 2023
In line to play Sunday
Coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Smith-Njigba (wrist) is slated to play Sunday against the Rams, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba underwent surgery to repair a slight fracture in his left wrist on Aug. 24, but he was back on the practice field Aug. 29 and continued to take part in drills this Monday. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much the rookie first-round pick was able to handle in the first official session of Week 1 prep, but he's trending in a positive direction to be the Seahawks' No. 3 wide receiver behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the season opener.
Sep 4, 2023
Another practice logged Monday
Smith-Njigba (wrist) participated in practice Monday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba has been handling on-field work for a little less than a week after undergoing surgery to repair a slight fracture in his left wrist on Aug. 24. The Seahawks aren't required to post their first Week 1 injury report until Wednesday, but the rookie first-round pick seems poised to be listed as limited, at the very least. The bigger question that remains is whether or not Smith-Njigba will do enough this week to gain clearance to make his pro debut in Sunday's season opener against the Rams.
Aug 29, 2023
Returns to practice Tuesday
Smith-Njigba (wrist) took part in Tuesday's practice, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 first-round pick ran routes and caught passes in individual drills, albeit with a heavy wrap on his surgically repaired left wrist following last Thursday's procedure to address a slight fracture. As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday, Smith-Njigba will avoid injured reserve to begin the season, but his status for a Week 1 divisional matchup with the Rams remains up in the air.
Aug 28, 2023
Expected to start on active roster
Smith-Njigba (wrist) is expected to avoid the short-term IR list and begin the regular season on the active roster, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba's availability for Week 1 still looks uncertain, but beginning the year on IR would have forced him to miss at least the first four games of the season. Coach Pete Carroll said he hopes the rookie first-round pick's recovery is only a "3-to-4 week deal," per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, so there's some reason for optimism about his chances of getting on the field in the first month of the season. Smith-Njigba underwent surgery Aug. 24 to address a minor wrist fracture.
Aug 24, 2023
Has surgery, timetable TBD
Smith-Njigba underwent wrist surgery Thursday but remains without a clear timetable for return, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Pete Carroll said the surgery "went great" but didn't put a timeline on Smith-Njigba's return to the field. With the season just over two weeks away, it's difficult to envision the rookie out there for Week 1, but it sounds like we should expect to see him debut sometime in the season's first month. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett will carry the bulk of the load in JSN's absence.
Aug 22, 2023
Needs wrist surgery
Smith-Njigba suffered a broken bone in his wrist during Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys and will require surgery, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba will undergo surgery Tuesday, and per Schefter he could still have a chance at being available Week 1 vs. the Rams. The rookie first-round pick reportedly suffered the injury on his highlight reel 48-yard catch for a near score, The results of Smith-Njigba's procedure will determine his recovery timetable, so the Seahawks could make further information available in the near future. Until the rookie is able to retake the field, Seattle's targets stand to consolidate further toward DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Aug 20, 2023
Team-high receiving yardage tally
Smith-Njigba brought in all three targets for 58 yards in the Seahawks' 22-14 preseason win over the Cowboys on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick tied for the team lead in receptions while setting the pace in receiving yards. Smith-Njigba did most of his damage on a game-long 48-yard reception, which came on a pass from Drew Lock on Seattle's third possession and took the ball to the Cowboys' one-yard line. Despite the narrowly missed scoring opportunity -- DeeJay Dallas punched it in from one yard out on the next play -- it was a second straight successful exhibition showing for the Ohio State product, who'd also recorded three catches in the preseason opener versus the Vikings.
Aug 11, 2023
Three catches against Vikings
Smith-Njigba caught three of four targets for 25 yards in Thursday's 24-13 preseason win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was the only Seahawk with more than two targets in the first half and finished tied for the team lead in that category, as Seattle made a concerted effort to get the 2023 first-round pick involved while he was in the game. Most importantly, Smith-Njigba's healthy after a hamstring injury limited him to just three appearances in his final season at Ohio State. He projects to occupy the slot role while DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (undisclosed) start on the outside in the regular season. Smith-Njigba should continue to be a featured option out of the slot in Seattle's next preseason game against the Cowboys on Aug. 19.
Jul 27, 2023
Impressing early
Smith-Njigba has impressed head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith with his route-running and hands, Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba eased into the offseason program because he missed most of his junior season at Ohio State with a hamstring injury, but the rookie has been full go since mandatory minicamp in June. With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett locked into the top two roles, Smith-Njigba was battling for the No. 3 spot. The first-round pick has seemingly won the job already after showcasing his hands, route-running and confidence through the first few practices. He was ultimately expected to win this role after an ultra-productive college career, so the only question that remains is how many targets he can garner behind Metcalf and Lockett.
Apr 27, 2023
First WR off the board to Seattle
The Seahawks selected Smith-Njigba in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 20th overall.
ANALYSIS
Smith-Njigba was widely expected to go in the top 12 or so, meaning at 20 the former Ohio State star looks like a bargain for the Seahawks. Tyler Lockett will be tough to displace from two-wideout formations, something the Seahawks run often as they trot out many multi-TE sets, but whenever Lockett declines it will be Smith-Njigba that the Seahawks depend on to step up. Smith-Njigba should make an immediate impact when Seattle goes three wide, likely running from the slot most of the time. At 6-foot-1, 196 pounds Smith-Njigba has only an average build and his 4.52-second pro day 40 time might have been more like a 4.60 on the combine track, but his excellent agility testing (6.57-second three-cone drill, 3.93-second 20-yard shuttle) should make Smith-Njigba stand out from the slot.
