Efficient return to lineup on MNF
Dart (concussion) completed 17 of 24 pass attempts for 139 yards and a touchdown while gaining 20 rushing yards on four attempts in Monday's 33-15 loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
Dart returned from a two-game absence after clearing the league's concussion protocol in order to reclaim his starting gig ahead of Monday's primetime tilt. The rookie signal-caller was understandably conservative from the pocket -- after already being checked for a possible concussion four times since the preseason -- finishing with the second-lowest passing yardage total through eight starts. The Ole Miss product also recorded his lowest carry total while failing to extend his rushing touchdown streak to six games. Dart has been a fantasy revelation in his first year as a pro, generating 1,893 yards from scrimmage with 18 touchdowns to five turnovers heading into the Giants' Week 14 bye. The dual-threat quarterback will look to build confidence in a favorable home matchup against the Commanders when play resumes on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Confirmed as starter for Week 13
Interim head coach Mike Kafka confirmed Friday that Dart (concussion) will start Monday's game at New England, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants announced Thursday on their first Week 13 injury report that Dart cleared the protocol for head injuries, setting him up for his first game action since a Week 10 loss in Chicago. In seven starts to begin his career, the rookie first-round pick has tossed multiple TDs on three occasions and also rushed for at least one TD in six of those outings. On Monday, Dart will be taking on a Patriots defense that has allowed the ninth-most passing scores (20) to opposing QBs in 12 contests this season.
Nov 27, 2025
Clears concussion protocol
Dart was listed as full on Thursday's estimated practice report, and the Giants announced that the rookie quarterback officially cleared the concussion protocol, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
When interim head coach Mike Kafka spoke to the media Wednesday, he told Evan Barnes of Newsday that Dart remained in the protocol for head injuries, but as of the Giants posting their first Week 13 injury report, he's now received clear ance for his first game action since Week 10. Dart thus is poised to resume directing the offense Monday at New England, while Jameis Winston will return to a backup role.
Nov 26, 2025
Full practice, still in protocol
Giants interim coach Mike Kafka said Dart will practice in full Wednesday but is still officially in the NFL's concussion protocol, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart has missed two consecutive games while progressing through the concussion protocol, and though beginning his preparation for Week 13 as a full participant is a good sign that he'll gain clearance in time to play Monday versus the Patriots, Kafka declined Wednesday to commit to the rookie signal-caller's availability, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. Top backup Jameis Winston and Dart will split first-team reps at practice Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Dart will need to gain full clearance from the concussion protocol, including from an independent neurologist, in order to be eligible to play Monday.
Nov 21, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Interim head coach Mike Kafka said Friday that Dart (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
As of Friday, Dart is still in the NFL's concussion protocol and won't be available this weekend. As a result, Jameis Winston will draw the start versus the Lions, per Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site. Dart will thus target a possible return to action a week from Monday, when the Giants face the Patriots on Dec. 1.
Nov 20, 2025
Still limited Thursday
Dart (concussion) remained a limited non-contact participant at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Interim head coach Mike Kafka told Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News earlier Thursday that there was a chance Dart would gain clearance from the concussion protocol after the Giants' second Week 12 practice, but that didn't come to pass. Instead, Dart maintained his activity level from Wednesday, giving him just one more chance this week to get back to full. In the end, he'll need to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play Sunday at Detroit, but if Dart is unable to, Jameis Winston is the next QB up on the depth chart.
Nov 19, 2025
Officially limited in return to practice
Dart (concussion) officially was limited at Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart didn't practice last Wednesday through Friday after he sustained a concussion during a Week 10 loss at Chicago, missing this past Sunday's defeat to the Packers in the process. He remains in the protocol for head injuries this week, but his return to drills Wednesday as a listed non-contact participant has him trending in the right direction. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, Dart was the first Giants quarterback to take reps Wednesday, so the team seemingly is preparing as if the rookie will start Sunday in Detroit, assuming he gains clearance from an independent neurologist before then.
Nov 19, 2025
Taking first QB reps Wednesday
Dart (concussion) was the first quarterback up during Wednesday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants are holding a non-contact session to being Week 12 prep, but Dart's ability to handle the initial QB reps is a good sign that he's trending toward a return to action Sunday at Detroit. He'll need to clear the concussion protocol, including meeting with an independent neurologist, in order to do so, but it appears he'll miss only one game as a result of the head injury he suffered during a Week 10 loss in Chicago.
Nov 19, 2025
Expected to practice Wednesday
Dart (concussion) is in line to participate in Wednesday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart didn't practice in any capacity en route to being ruled out for the Giants' loss to the Packers in Week 11, so it will represent a notable step in the right direction if he's able to handle even limited reps Wednesday. Of course, to be eligible for a return to action Sunday versus the Lions, the rookie first-round pick would need to gain full clearance from the concussion protocol, including from an independent neurologist. Jameis Winston will be in line to draw another start in the event that Dart isn't cleared in time to suit up Week 12.
Nov 17, 2025
Remains in concussion protocol
Dart remains in the league's concussion protocol, but the Giants are optimistic he'll be able to return in time for next Sunday's game against the Lions, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart missed the Week 11 loss to the Packers and has been checked for a concussion four times already this season, but it sounds like there's a chance the rookie quarterback will be back under center for Week 12 in Detroit. In Dart's absence against Green Bay, Jameis Winston made the start and completed 19 of 29 pass attempts for 201 scoreless yards and one interception. If Dart is unable to play against the Lions, Winston would likely make another start.
Nov 16, 2025
May limit running upon return
The Giants have advised Dart (concussion) -- who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers -- to exercise more caution with when and how frequently he scrambles once he returns to the field, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart entered concussion protocol shortly after taking a big hit in the third quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Bears, when he fumbled at the end of a seven-yard run. Though he's now been diagnosed with a concussion for the first time in 2025, Dart has been evaluated for concussions on four total occasions since the beginning of the preseason, which has prompted the Giants to be more strident in their request for the quarterback to modify his approach to running. To that end, quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney has been educating Dart with videos of other running quarterbacks, pointing out the difference between being reckless and acting in self-preservation. Ultimately, any change in approach will have to be a conscious choice on the part of Dart, whose aggressiveness as a runner thus far has undoubtedly enhanced his fantasy appeal. Through his first seven starts, Dart has turned in respectable production as a passer (202.2 yards per game, 10:3 TD:INT), but his numbers as a runner (45.3 yards per game, seven s
Nov 14, 2025
Officially ruled out
Dart (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback for New York's first game under interim head coach Mike Kafka. With WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) also ruled out, the passing attack is short-handed against a strong Green Bay defense.
Nov 12, 2025
Won't start Sunday
Coach Mike Kafka confirmed Wednesday that Dart (concussion) won't start Sunday's game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
With Dart in the NFL's concussion protocol, the Giants are playing it safe with the 2025 first-rounder, which sets the stage for Jameis Winston to draw the start versus Green Bay. Per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, Kafka noted that Dart is "right on track and right on pace" in terms of concussion protocol, which suggests that Dart could be cleared in time to get the starting nod in Week 12. If Dart is made inactive this weekend, Russell Wilson would be in line to back up Winston.
Nov 9, 2025
Concussion confirmed
Dart was diagnosed with a concussion and won't return to Sunday's contest in Chicago, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart took a big hit at the end of a seven-yard quarterback keeper and was wobbly as he went to the sideline and eventually the locker room. With a concussion confirmed, he'll be subject to the protocol for head injuries to be able to suit up again. He'll finish Week 10 action with 241 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions on 19 of 29 passing, six carries for 66 yards and two TDs and a lost fumble. Russell Wilson will direct the Giants offense for as long as Dart is sidelined.
Nov 9, 2025
Being checked for head injury
Dart is under evaluation for a possible concussion during Sunday's contest at Chicago, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On a designed quarterback run in the third quarter, Dart gained seven yards before taking a big hit and losing a fumble. He was hobbling as he made his way to the sideline before visiting the blue medical tent and eventually the locker room. Dart had completed 19 of 29 passes for 241 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions and turned six rushes into 66 yards and two touchdowns when he departed the game. Russell Wilson took over for Dart under center.
Nov 2, 2025
Three total TDs in Week 9 loss
Dart completed 24 of 33 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-24 loss to the 49ers. He added eight rushing attempts for 56 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Dart connected with Theo Johnson for a 15-yard touchdown on the opening drive but generated only 65 passing yards on 15 first-half passes. The Giants finally got back into the end zone with less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, when Dart scored his fifth rushing touchdown through six starts on a six-yard designed run. Dart also tossed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Gunner Olszewski with 1:21 remaining, but the Giants still faced double-digit deficits after both of those fourth-quarter scores. The rookie first-round pick led the team in rushing yards Sunday as he continues to generate offense with both his arm and legs, but Dart's limited supporting cast will continue to cap his upside in Week 10 against the Bears.
Oct 26, 2025
Another rushing TD in Week 8 loss
Dart completed 14 of 24 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for 17 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Dart tossed an 18-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to Cam Skattebo, who later left the game due to a dislocated ankle. The Giants' offense didn't get much going after that, though Dart also had a would-be 68-yard touchdown pass to Darius Slayton in the fourth quarter nullified by a questionable offensive pass interference call. Dart tacked on a two-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, giving the rookie first-round pick a rushing score in four of his first five starts. His rushing upside will keep Dart fantasy-relevant in Week 9 against the 49ers despite the Giants' depleted supporting cast on offense.
Oct 19, 2025
Falls short despite four TDs
Dart completed 15 of 33 pass attempts for 283 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while taking five carries for 11 yards and another touchdown in Sunday's 33-32 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
It was a crushing loss for the Giants when Dart pushed his fourth touchdown of the contest across the goal line with 40 seconds left in regulation, only to watch a missed extra-point attempt open the door for the Broncos to come back and win it with a field goal as time expired. The rookie signal-caller finished with his worst completion percentage (45.5) as a pro, but he offset the inefficiency with new highs in passing yards (283) and total touchdowns (four). Dart's fourth and final trip to the end zone came as a rusher, which helped offset a season-low five rush attempts Sunday. The Ole Miss product will attempt to overcome another tough defensive matchup when the Giants visit the Eagles next Sunday. Dart generated 23.6 standard fantasy points when these two teams met in New York back in Week 5.
Oct 10, 2025
Two total TDs in upset win
Dart completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while adding 13 carries for 58 yards and another score during the Giants' 34-17 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Dart recorded the first signature win of his nascent career with a standout, mistake-free performance. The dynamic rookie got off to a blistering start by helping lead two first-quarter touchdown drives, possessions he capped off with a 20-yard scoring run and a 35-yard strike to Wan'Dale Robinson. Dart went on to lead three more scoring drives in the upset, and he navigated a brief third-quarter exit to be checked for a concussion to finish oout the upset victory without incident. Dart has already shown considerable promise in his first three starts while recording a pair of victories in the process. but he'll get quite the test in a Week 7 road matchup against the Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Oct 9, 2025
Quickly clears protocol
Dart cleared concussion protocol and will return to Thursday's game against the Eagles, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart was hit in the head and shoulder area while attempting to escape pressure late in the third quarter. He was evaluated for a concussion and cleared, and returned to the game after missing only a couple of offensive plays.
Oct 9, 2025
Being examined in medical tent
Dart exited Thursday's game against the Eagles with an apparent upper-body injury, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart was attempting to escape pressure late in the third quarter and suffered a series of hard hits to his head and shoulder area. He ran off the field under his own power but straight into the medical tent. Russell Wilson replaced him to complete the drive, though Dart was spotted with his helmet on the sideline during the Eagles' next offensive possession.
Oct 7, 2025
In clear for Thursday night game
Dart (hamstring) was listed as a full participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Tuesday's session wasn't conducted at full speed, Dart didn't face any limitations and looks to be ready to play Thursday against the Eagles. Head coach Brian Daboll acknowledged as much prior to the walkthrough, telling Evan Barnes of Newsday that Dart's sore left hamstring wasn't viewed as much of a concern, even on a short week. After leading the Giants to an impressive win over the Chargers in his first NFL start in Week 4, Dart took a step back in a disappointing loss to the previously winless Saints in Week 5, committing three turnovers on the afternoon. However, Dart still managed to produce a fantasy friendly line in the loss, throwing for 202 yards and two scores while adding 55 yards on seven carries.
Oct 6, 2025
Estimated as limited Monday
Dart (hamstring) was estimated as a limited participant on Monday's practice report, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants didn't actually practice but were required to release an estimation ahead of Thursday night's game against the Eagles. Dart dealt with the hamstring issue in practice last week but was able to play Sunday against the Saints. He should be under center for Thursday night's divisional tilt.
Oct 5, 2025
Three TOs in Sunday's loss
Dart completed 26 of 40 passes for 202 yards and two interceptions with two interceptions in Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Saints. He added 55 rushing yards on seven carries and also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The rookie's second career NFL start didn't go as well as his first, as Dart put the ball on the ground in the third quarter with his team down only 16-14, and then threw two picks in the fourth quarter while trying to mount a comeback. Dart leaned heavily on short routes in his first game working without Malik Nabers (knee), with tight end Theo Johnson catching both his TDs and Johnson, Daniel Bellinger and running back Cam Skattebo combined for 16 receptions. Dart will need to clean up his turnovers in Week 6 if the Giants are going to have any hope of upsetting the NFC East-leading Eagles.
Oct 1, 2025
Full practice confirmed
Dart (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart emerged from his first NFL start this past Sunday versus the Chargers with a hamstring injury after taking five sacks during a 13-for-20 passing performance and two total touchdowns (one passing, one rushing). Prior to Wednesday's session, coach Brian Daboll told Dan Duggan of The Athletic that Dart wouldn't be limited, which has come to pass. Dart thus will resume his standing as the Giants' No. 1 signal-caller as the team prepares for Sunday's game at New Orleans.
Oct 1, 2025
In line for full practice Wednesday
Coach Brian Daboll said Dart (hamstring) won't have limitations at Wednesday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first NFL start Sunday against the Chargers, Dart has a modest passing line (13-for-20 for 111 yards, one TD and no picks) while rushing 10 times for 54 yards and a score, but he also took five sacks and was visibly hindered at times. Daboll revealed Monday that Dart was dealing with a hamstring injury but that he was "doing good" and was expected to practice Wednesday, per Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports. During Wednesday's team stretch, Dart was spotted with a significant tape job on his upper left leg, according to Duggan, so it remains to be seen if the rookie signal-caller indeed will be listed as a full practice participant to begin Week 5 prep.
Sep 29, 2025
Expected to practice Wednesday
Giants coach Brian Daboll said Monday that Dart (hamstring) is expected to take the field for Wednesday's practice, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Daboll said Dart is "doing good" after having picked up a hamstring injury during Sunday's 21-18 upset win over the Chargers, per Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports. The rookie first-round pick managed to play through the issue Sunday and lead New York to their first win of the 2025 campaign, while completing 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards and a score and rushing 10 times for 54 yards and another score. While it's encouraging that Dart appears to have avoided a severe injury in his first start, top wideout Malik Nabers (ACL) sustained a season-ending injury Week 4, leaving Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and tight end Theo Johnson positioned as the Giants' top pass-catchers moving forward. As such, Dart will figure to pilot a run-heavy offense Week 5 on the road against New Orleans on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Leads team to win in first start
Dart completed 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 win over the Chargers. He added 54 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
ANALYSIS
Making his first NFL start, the 25th overall pick in the 2025 Draft led the Giants to their first win of the year, scampering for a 15-yard TD on the team's first drive and then hitting Theo Johnson for a three-yard score -- Dart's first career passing touchdown -- in the third quarter. Despite the positive result in the standings, it was not an entirely encouraging performance from the young QB. New York's porous offensive line allowed Dart to be sacked five times and take plenty of other hits, and per Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports he had to leave the field briefly to be checked for a concussion. In worse news for the Giants and Dart, Malik Nabers left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury that's feared to be a torn ACL. If Nabers is lost for the season, or misses any time at all, Dart would have arguably the weakest group of pass-catchers in the league at his disposal for a trip to New Orleans in Week 5.
Sep 24, 2025
Officially named starting QB
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that Dart will be the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the season, beginning with Sunday's contest against the Chargers, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Dart will take over under center Week 4 while Russel Wilson transitions to a backup role, Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms, and the Giants don't intend to consider any further pivots. The first test for Dart will be difficult, as the Chargers' defense is one of only four units in the NFL that have allowed just two combined passing touchdowns across the first three weeks of the regular season. There are reasons to be optimistic about Dart's fantasy upside, namely due to his dual-threat capabilities, plus the presence of difference-making No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers and a capable safety valve in Wan'Dale Robinson, but fantasy managers will likely want to wait for the rookie signal-caller to either prove himself before trusting him in weekly lineups, or wait for a more favorable matchup such as Week 5 against the Saints.
Sep 23, 2025
Taking over as starting QB
The Giants are planning to start Dart at quarterback on Sunday against the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The writing was on the wall for this one after coach Brian Daboll on Monday refused to commit to Russell Wilson as his starter. Through three games, Wilson had completed a career-low 59.1 percent of his pass attempts for 778 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. All three of his touchdown passes came in Week 2 against the Cowboys, when Wilson threw for 450 yards. Outside of that game, Wilson completed just 35 of 69 passes (50.7 percent) for 328 yards (4.8 yards per attempt), zero scores and two INTs. The 0-3 Giants need a spark, and Dart will aim to provide one after he looked great during the preseason, completing 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also rushed six times for 52 yards and a fourth score. Dart gets a tough test against the Chargers in Week 4, but his upside is immense as a dual-threat quarterback strapped with a legit No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers, slot man Wan'Dale Robinson and deep threat Darius Slayton.

Could have role in Week 1 game plan
Dart will be active as the top backup to Russell Wilson in Sunday's game at Washington, and the Giants could have a package of plays designed for the rookie quarterback, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Earlier in the week, the Giants listed Dart as their No. 2 quarterback on their unofficial depth chart, a sign that the 22-year-old had beaten out veteran Jameis Winston for the top backup gig on the heels of an excellent preseason in which he completed 32 of 47 attempts for 372 yards, three touchdowns and no interception while adding six carries for 52 yards and another touchdown. Though the Giants will turn to the veteran Wilson to direct the offense in the season opener, the No. 25 overall pick in the draft appears to have made a strong enough impression over the summer to potentially put himself in the mix for a role in Week 1 that may take advantage of his rushing ability. According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, Dart frequently subbed in for Wilson in the red zone late in drives during training camp, so the Giants could look to use Dart in short-yardage situations in particular. Dart remains likely to get the chance to start at some point during his rookie season, though Wilson would presumably

Opening season as No. 2 QB
The Giants list Dart as their No. 2 quarterback on the unofficial depth chart released by the team Tuesday, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the Giants had listed Dart behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on depth charts throughout the preseason, the rookie first-round pick took reps ahead of Winston in all three of New York's exhibition contests. With Dart completing 32 of 47 attempts for 372 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions to go with six carries for 52 yards and another score during the preseason slate, he now appears to have clinched the No. 2 job heading into Sunday's season opener in Washington. While Wilson should start for the Giants as long as he stays healthy and keeps the team competitive, Dart's excellent preseason could embolden the coaching staff to make a change if Wilson shows any signs of slippage as the season rolls along.
Aug 22, 2025
Shines again in preseason
Dart completed six of 12 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 42-10 preseason win over New England, adding one carry for 23 yards.
ANALYSIS
He played the first four drives, two of which resulted in touchdowns, although one of those was thrown by Jameis Winston after Dart took a hard hit and was evaluated for a concussion. Dart cleared protocol, with Giants coach Brian Daboll saying afterward that the rookie merely had the wind knocked out of him, per Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site. Daboll has made it clear Russell Wilson will be his Week 1 starter, but any struggles for the 36-year-old inevitably will lead to calls for Dart, who finished his inaugural preseason completing 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards (7.9 YPA) and three TDs, with no turnovers and two sacks. He also had six carries for 52 yards and a TD, showing an element of his game that may be crucial for fantasy value whenever he ends up making starts.
Aug 16, 2025
Nearly perfect in second exhibition
Dart completed 14 of 16 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Dart also rushed two times for five yards and a second touchdown. After Dart completed 12 of 19 throws for 154 yards and one touchdown in his preseason debut last week, the first-round rookie followed it up with a nearly perfect performance. Dart's touchdown toss was a 20-yard hookup with Greg Dulcich in the second quarter. He followed it up with a one-yard rushing score before halftime. Dart was the second quarterback in the game for the G-Men after Russell Wilson made the start. Following the performance, coach Brian Daboll reiterated that Wilson is the team's starting quarterback headed into the season, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports. Dart, however, is a good bet to make rookie-year starts and is worth a late-round pick in best-ball formats.
Aug 9, 2025
Tosses TD in preseason debut
Dart completed 12 of 19 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown while adding 24 rushing yards on three carries in Saturday's 34-25 preseason win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The rookie quarterback led the Giants in both passing yards and rushing yards on the afternoon, as Dart took over from Russell Wilson for the team's second drive of the game and then played the rest of the first half. Three of Dart's four drives put points on the board, with the highlight of his performance being a 29-yard touchdown strike to Lil'Jordan Humphrey early in the second quarter. The 25th overall pick in the 2025 Draft, Dart will begin the regular season on the bench while Wilson runs the offense, but the transition to New York's potential new franchise QB could happen sooner than expected if the Giants stumble out of the gate.
Aug 7, 2025
Preseason debut on tap
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Dart will take the field during Saturday's preseason opener against the Bills, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Daboll declined to reveal whether Russell Wilson and the rest of New York's starters will suit up Sunday, but the Giants' rookie first-round QB will get a chance to take the field in some capacity. Per Matt Citak of the team's official site, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka said Tuesday that Dart is "right on schedule" in terms of his development and "continuing to grow and learn every day," though the team has consistently communicated that Wilson is locked in as New York's unquestioned starter to kick off the regular season, with Jameis Winston available as his top backup.
Jul 24, 2025
Not in contention to start
Giants coach Brian Daboll named Russell Wilson the team's clear-cut starting quarterback Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This news doesn't come as a surprise after New York signed Wilson to a one-year contract in March. Still, it dispels any notion that Dart -- whom the Giants selected 25th overall in April's NFL Draft -- could push for the starting job even with a strong preseason. It sounds like New York is content to allow the rookie out of Ole Miss to develop as an observer during his first NFL campaign, as GM Joe Schoen said of Dart on Wednesday that "there's some real benefits from sitting and learning specifically from some of the guys in the room that have the experience that they have," referring to Wilson and Jameis Winston, who was also signed as a free agent during the offseason. Dart did log one first-team rep during the first day of training camp, but Wilson took the remaining reps with the starting offense and shined, throwing multiple TDs to top wideout Malik Nabers.
Jun 13, 2025
Working as QB2 in OTAs
Dart has typically been the second quarterback to mix in for the Giants at OTAs, behind Russell Wilson and ahead of Jameis Winston, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson is the clear starter, having taken all but a few first-team reps thus far, while Dart and Winston have been splitting second-team opportunities. Dart has shown impressive touch on his throws, but the rookie 25th overall pick is likely to begin his career in a backup role. The Giants could turn to Dart if they fall out of contention or Wilson struggles, and the team's difficult early schedule raises the likelihood of those scenarios.
Apr 24, 2025
Nabbed by Giants at 25
The Giants selected Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 25th overall.
ANALYSIS
The Giants traded back into the first round from their 34th selection, working with Houston at the 25th spot to make Dart the team's second selection of the first round. Quarterback remained a need for the Giants following the third-overall selection of edge defender Abdul Carter, and in theory the acquisition of Dart addresses that concern. Dart (6-foot-2, 223 pounds) was a very successful starter at Mississippi and logged some quality off-the-bench starts for USC as a true freshman before that, and now the Giants will hope he can provide an upgrade over the veteran duo of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Dart offers more rushing ability than most quarterbacks and showed the ability to make some good throws in college, but Dart probably needs to do a better job of executing a play design through its conclusion -- in college he probably dropped his eyes and looked to run a little too easily. If Dart can harness his mobility and accuracy in a more refined form of himself then he could prove to be worth this
