Could have re-entered Week 11 win
Warren (ankle) said after Sunday's 34-12 win over the Bengals that he could have retaken the field after suffering an injury in the third quarter, but that remaining on the sideline "was part of being smart," Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike Tomlin refrained from offering a tangible update on Warren's health following Sunday's divisional win, but it appears the starting running back has avoided a serious injury. The success logged by Kenneth Gainwell upon stepping into the lead role (105 scrimmage yards and two receiving scores on 16 touches) may have informed Pittsburgh's decision to take a cautious approach with the health of Warren, who himself rushed 10 times for 62 yards and secured both of his targets for five yards before leaving the field. If Warren ends up missing any time or even being limited on the road against Chicago in Week 12, Gainwell will again benefit from increased opportunities, as could rookie third-round pick Kaleb Johnson.

Plays one snap after hurting ankle
Warren rushed 10 times for 62 yards and caught both of his targets for five yards in Sunday's 34-12 win over the Bengals, but he played only one snap after suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter, Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Steelers Now reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren exited in the third quarter to be evaluated for an ankle injury, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. Kenneth Gainwell took advantage of Warren's early exit, compiling 105 scrimmage yards and two receiving touchdowns on 16 touches. Gainwell's first touchdown came two plays after a 35-yard Warren run on the opening drive. Warren has rushed for 189 yards in two games against Cincinnati's suspect run defense this season while averaging a shade under 50 rushing yards in seven other games. An update on Warren's ankle injury will surface no later than Wednesday, when the Steelers begin practicing ahead of a Week 12 road game against the Bears.
Nov 10, 2025
Totals 91 yards
Warren rushed the ball 14 times for 70 yards in Sunday's 25-10 loss to the Chargers. He added two receptions on two targets for 21 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren accounted for 14 of the 16 carries by Pittsburgh's running backs, as Kenneth Gainwell was phased almost entirely out of the offense. That allowed Warren to record his second-highest rushing yardage total of the season, and he was one of the few bright spots in the offense. Warren hasn't found the end zone consistently this season, but his role has improved as the season has progressed.
Nov 2, 2025
Punches in two scores
Warren rushed the ball 16 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Colts. He added two receptions on two targets for minus-two yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren dominated rushing opportunity out of the Pittsburgh backfield, accounting for 16 of 21 attempts by running backs. He was equally inefficient with the chances, with his longest rush of the game going for only eight yards. Warren continues to concede targets to Kenneth Gainwell, though he seemingly strengthened his grip on the goal-line role by punching in a pair of scores from one and two yards, respectively. Warren has had an up-and-down season, but he's generally found a way to turn in productive performances.
Oct 27, 2025
Reverts to modest production on SNF
Warren took 13 carries for 62 yards while catching two of three targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 35-25 loss to Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Warren cooled off following last week's 127-yard rushing performance, reverting to the modest production we had become accustomed to from the Steelers' starter this season. The 26-year-old actually finished Sunday's primetime tilt right at the 62.2 yards he averaged over his previous five contests. Backup Kenneth Gainwell finished with 31 yards on five carries, but he coughed up Pittsburgh's only fumble on the evening. Warren carries a high floor as the Steelers' lead back heading into a Week 9 matchup against the Colts.
Oct 16, 2025
Breaks out in TNF loss
Warren rushed 16 times for 127 yards and brought in four of five targets for 31 yards in the Steelers' 33-31 loss to the Bengals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Warren came just two yards short of his single-game career high in rushing yards, which he set against the Browns back on Nov. 19, 2023. The versatile back was in outstanding form against a Bengals defense that had been particularly prone to allowing chunk plays on the ground, compiling a season-high yardage total while recording four runs of 10+ yards and a co-game-long 37-yard scamper. Warren also has at least four catches in three of the last four games, and Thursday's performance affords him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 8 home showdown against the Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 26.
Oct 12, 2025
Narrowly leads Steelers' backfield
Warren rushed the ball 11 times for 52 yards in Sunday's 23-9 win over the Browns. He added two receptions on two targets for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren returned from a one-game absence caused by a knee injury with his role in question due to competition from Kenneth Gainwell. Warren comfortably led the team with 11 carries, though he gave up a considerable amount of work to Gainwell in the receiving game. He was efficient with his work, but Warren appears to be the leader of a committee in Pittsburgh rather than a true lead back for the time being.
Oct 8, 2025
Logs full practice
Warren (knee) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was inactive for the Steelers' 24-21 win over the Vikings in Dublin on Sept. 28, but following his team's bye week, the running back is poised to return to action Sunday against the Browns. In Warren's absence in Week 4, Kenneth Gainwell carried 19 times for 99 yards and two TDs and caught all six of his targets for 35 yards, an effort that should keep him involved in Pittsburgh's Week 6 offense. However, assuming no setbacks, Warren should reclaim his lead role this weekend. In three games to date, he's logged 43 carries for 132 yards and caught 11 of his 12 targets for 142 yards and a TD.
Oct 8, 2025
Practicing again
Warren (knee) is practicing Wednesday, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren has a sleeve over his injured knee but appears to be going through drills at full speed. He returned to practice Monday, after a Week 5 bye and Week 4 absence. Kenneth Gainwell stepped up with 25 touches for 134 yards and two TDs in the Week 4 win over Minnesota, potentially earning a larger role moving forward (relative to his limited usage in Weeks 2-3).
Oct 6, 2025
Present at practice Monday
Warren (knee) participated in individual drills at Monday's practice, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren missed the Steelers' Week 4 game against the Vikings in Ireland and had the Week 5 bye to recover. Pittsburgh isn't required to release an official practice report until Wednesday this week, but Warren's presence on the field Monday would indicate he's closing in on 100 percent and a return to game action ahead of next Sunday's date with the Browns.
Sep 28, 2025
Sitting out Ireland game
Warren (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings in Dublin, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Warren had been listed as questionable heading into Sunday after he was a limited participant in practice all week due to a right knee injury, the prevailing belief heading into gameday was that he would be ready to handle his usual duties as the team's lead back. Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, Warren was spotted warming up with a sleeve on his right leg earlier Sunday, but the 26-year-old ultimately didn't display enough progress for the Steelers to sign off on him playing. With Warren out of the mix, the Steelers will have Kenneth Gainwell, Kaleb Johnson and Trey Sermon as their available running backs in Week 4. With the benefit of a Week 5 bye, Warren should have sufficient time to heal from the knee issue and headline the Pittsburgh backfield in the team's next game Oct. 12 versus the Browns.
Sep 27, 2025
Expected to play Week 4
Warren (rest/knee) is expected to play against the Vikings on Sunday in Dublin, Ireland, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was a limited practice participant all week, with the Steelers citing both 'resting vet' and 'knee' as his injury designations. Even with Trey Sermon being elevated from the practice squad to the active roster, the expectation is that Warren will suit up against Minnesota, though an official announcement will be made approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 9:30 a.m. kickoff. Kenneth Gainwell would be in line for an uptick in playing time on offense if Warren is unable to play or has his snap count limited, with rookie third-rounder Kaleb Johnson -- who didn't play against the Patriots in Week 3 -- also providing depth out of the Steelers' backfield.
Sep 26, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Warren (NIR - resting vet/knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Warren logged another limited practice Friday with the Steelers citing both 'resting vet' and 'knee' for the running back's listing on the team's final Week 4 injury report. Warren's status is thus worth tracking ahead of Sunday's 9:30 a.m. kickoff in Dublin, with late Saturday and/or early Sunday reports via NFL insiders such as Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport hopefully providing added context on that front. If Warren is limited or out Sunday, added snaps would be available for Kenneth Gainwell and Kaleb Johnson (who didn't see the field in Week 3), with Trey Sermon, Lew Nichols and Max Hurleman representing possible practice-squad elevations.
Sep 25, 2025
Limited at practice Thursday
Warren (NIR - resting vet/knee) was listed as a limited participant at practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Warren's name was also on Wednesday's practice report, his listed limitations then only cited 'NIR -resting vet.' While the addition of 'knee' to Thursday's report is worth noting, so far there's nothing to suggest that the running back's status for Sunday's game against the Vikings in Dublin is in any danger. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether Warren heads into the weekend with an injury designation or cleared to face Minnesota.
Sep 21, 2025
Tops 80 scrimmage yards in win
Warren carried the ball 18 times for 47 yards and caught five of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 21-14 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year running back caught multiple passes for the third straight game to begin the season, with the five grabs and six targets both being season highs. Warren was denied a much bigger fantasy performance when Kenneth Gainwell vultured a one-yard rushing TD in the first quarter, however. Warren has racked up 274 scrimmage yards so far as the Steelers' unquestioned lead back, and he'll look to continue his PPR prowess in Week 4 against the Vikings.
Sep 14, 2025
Effective as pass catcher again
Warren rushed the ball 14 times for 48 yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Seahawks. He added four receptions on four targets for 86 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren more clearly accounted for the majority of touches out of Pittsburgh's backfield relative to Week 1, out-touching Kenneth Gainwell 18-8. Warren found very little running room, but he made an impact as a receiver for the second consecutive week. Warren recorded a 65-yard gain, most of which came after the catch, in the middle of the third quarter, during which he bounced off several would-be tacklers before being taken down at the five-yard line. While Warren hasn't had a strong start to the season on the ground, he has six receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown combined across the two contests.
Sep 7, 2025
Makes impact as receiver
Warren rushed the ball 11 times for 37 yards in Sunday's 34-32 win over the Jets. He added two receptions on two targets for 22 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Warren led the Steelers' backfield as expected, though he only out-carried Kenneth Gainwell 11-7. He had a disastrous first half, recording just four carries for nine yards, but he managed to make an impact in the second half with a long reception of 17 yards late in the third quarter, and he later capped the same drive with a five-yard touchdown catch. Warren managed a decent fantasy performance all told, but he'll be reliant on big plays and touchdowns rather than volume, even as the lead back in Pittsburgh.
Sep 1, 2025
Pens two-year extension
Warren and the Steelers agreed to terms Monday on a two-year contract extension, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pittsburgh initially inked Warren via his second-year restricted free agent tender in March, a one-year deal, but per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette his new deal extends through the 2027 season. That provides the Steelers with some long-term backfield clarity, with Warren and rookie third-round pick Kaleb Johnson positioned as a running back tandem for the foreseeable future. For the 2025 campaign Kenneth Gainwell, who is on a one-year deal, could also have a consistent role. Warren will be the favorite to operate as Pittsburgh's starter early in the regular season, and beginning Sunday on the road versus the Jets.
Aug 21, 2025
Starts preseason finale
Warren started Thursday's 19-10 preseason win over Carolina, taking two carries for three yards and two catches for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren and Kenneth Gainwell rotated on the first two drives before handing things over to rookie Kaleb Johnson, who took five carries for 24 yards. It's possible all three running backs have roles come Week 1 against the Jets, but Warren is at least the favorite to start and thus the safest fantasy play among the trio (for now).
Aug 21, 2025
In uniform Thursday
Warren is suited up ahead of Thursday's preseason game in Carolina, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren didn't play in the Steelers' first two exhibitions, so there's a chance he's getting a dress rehearsal of sorts ahead of the regular season. While he won't get a chance to work with new starting QB Aaron Rodgers, the breakdown of RB reps between Warren and rookie third-rounder Kaleb Johnson will worth monitoring, assuming the former gets on the field. Since going undrafted in 2022, Warren has one campaign with more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage on his resume (1,154 in 2023) and also has averaged 11.5 touches per game the past two seasons.
Aug 14, 2025
Not on track to play Saturday
Coach Mike Tomlin noted Thursday that the same players (with the possible exception of LB Nick Herbig) who sat out last weekend's game against the Jaguars -- a group that included Warren -- are not in line to see action in this Saturday's game against the Buccaneers, Brooke Pryor of ESPN and Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site report.
ANALYSIS
Along with Warren, that's a group that also includes QB Aaron Rodgers, WRs DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin (abdomen), as well as TEs Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith (knee). Meanwhile, rookie RB Kaleb Johnson is on track to see snaps Saturday, as he did versus Jacksonville, per Pryor. As the regular season approaches, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic suggests that Warren will likely get the first chance to be the Steelers' lead back early on, however Johnson should remain firmly in the mix, nonetheless, with Kenneth Gainwell on hand as well.
Aug 14, 2025
Expects to play this week
Warren suggested Tuesday that he expects to play in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin hadn't announced anything as of Thursday morning, but it would follow his pattern from past seasons if he played most of his healthy starters in the second preseason game. While it remains to be seen if Warren is technically a starter come Week 1, there's no doubt he'll be a big part of the offense. Starter or not, his workload will partially depend on the progress of rookie Kaleb Johnson, who took nine touches for 26 yards in the preseason opener while playing extensively with Pittsburgh's backups. The presence of QB Aaron Rodgers could also be a factor, as he has a well-documented preference for veteran teammates and recently told reporters that he thinks Warren can be a three-down back, per Nick Farabaugh and John Luciew of Penn Live. That said, Rodgers' preferences might also work in favor of free-agent addition Kenneth Gainwell, another veteran RB with plenty of experience on passing downs.
Apr 28, 2025
Joined by Kaleb Johnson
Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said the dynamic between Warren and third-round pick Kaleb Johnson will be different than that between Warren and former teammate Najee Harris.
ANALYSIS
The 224-pound rookie, drafted 83rd overall, profiles cleanly as a replacement for Harris, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a one-for-one thing with Johnson immediately taking 250-plus carries. Harris topped that number in each of his four seasons in Pittsburgh, despite averaging 4.1 YPC or less every year, in part because he never missed a game and was decent enough at blocking and receiving to stay on the field for some passing downs. Johnson may well prove to be Harris' equal or superior as a runner, but Warren could nonetheless take on a larger role than he had the past few seasons if the Steelers aren't confident in other aspects of Johnson's game. Warren signed a second-round restricted free agent tender a few days before the draft, keeping him under contract for 2025 at $5.35 million -- about the same as what Harris is getting from the Chargers, coincidentally.
Apr 22, 2025
Signs RFA tender
Warren signed his one-year restricted free agent tender with the Steelers on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren received a second-round restricted free agent tender from Pittsburgh in March, which carries a $5.35 million salary for the 2025 season. Signing his tender doesn't necessarily preclude a long-term deal materializing for Warren, but any further negotiations could be heavily swayed by the team's actions, or lack thereof, in addressing the running back position during the 2025 NFL Draft. Coach Mike Tomlin expressed confidence Tuesday in Warren's capabilities of handling lead back duties following the departure of Najee Harris, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com.
Mar 10, 2025
Receives second-round RFA tender
The Steelers placed a second-round restricted free agent tender on Warren on Monday, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers make Warren's second-round RFA tender official, a move that general managed Omar Khan foreshadowed late February. Pittsburgh had the option to place an original-round tender on Warren, which would have given him a $3.19 million salary for 2025 but made it more feasible for teams to offer him a competitive contract. By issuing Warren a second-round tender, the Steelers effectively guarantee he'll remain with the team this season at the cost of a $5.2 million salary, as any team he signed with would have to surrender second-round draft compensation. Najee Harris is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, and his departure would thrust Warren into the No. 1 backfield spot for at least the time being.
Feb 25, 2025
Will receive RFA tender
Steelers GM Omar Khan said Tuesday that Warren will receive a restricted free agent tender and likely stay with the team in 2025, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The real question is whether Warren gets a second-round tender ($5.2 million) or an original-round tag ($3.19 million). He went undrafted back in 2022, which means the latter wouldn't involve any draft compensation if he signed with another team and the Steelers declined to match the contract offer. A second-round tender, on the other hand, would ensure that Warren stays in Pittsburgh unless he's traded, as no team is going to give up a top-64 pick for the right to hand him a large contract. The second big question is what happens with Najee Harris, who is scheduled for unrestricted free agency after starting his career with four straight seasons of more than 1,000 rushing yards but less than 4.2 yards per carry.
Jan 12, 2025
Ends season quietly
Warren rushed the ball two times for six yards in Saturday's 28-14 loss to the Ravens. He added four receptions on five targets for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers attempted only 11 total rushes for the game as they were chasing points, though Warren was still out-touched 9-6 and out-gained 58-25 by Najee Harris. It was a disappointing close to a primarily disappointing season for Warren, as he was derailed by injury for the first six games of the campaign and then worked behind Harris in most games thereafter. Warren will be a restricted free agent this offseason and should have a strong chance of being retained by the Steelers. With Harris a free agent, it's also possible that Warren will be in line for an expanded role with the team in 2025.
Jan 5, 2025
Takes back seat to Harris
Warren rushed the ball six times for 21 yards in Saturday's 19-17 loss to the Bengals. He did not record a catch on one target.
ANALYSIS
Warren had been chipping into the role of Najee Harris in recent weeks, though he was out-touched 15-6 by Harris in Saturday's loss. His lack of volume was also the result of game script, as the Steelers' running backs accounted for only four total carries in the final two quarters of the contest as they played from behind. Warren will likely serve as the change-of-pace back in Pittsburgh's opening-round playoff matchup against the Ravens or Texans.
Jan 1, 2025
Logs full practice Wednesday
Warren (ribs) practiced fully Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was deemed a limited participant in practice Tuesday, but the running back's return to a full session a day later paves the way for him to be available Saturday night against the Bengals. As a result, Warren should continue to work in a backfield time share with Najee Harris, a context that has resulted in Warren logging 23 carries and 10 catches over his last two contests, while Harris has recorded 22 carries and two catches in that span.
Dec 31, 2024
Nursing rib injury
Warren was a limited participant in practice Tuesday due to an injury to his ribs, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Even though the Steelers have a longer turnaround for the regular-season finale after playing on Christmas Day in Week 17, Warren is a bit banged up after he took on 16 touches (11 carries, five catches) in Pittsburgh's 29-10 loss to Kansas City. Provided Warren is able to advance to full participation in practice by Thursday, he should head into Saturday's contest without a designation. While Najee Harris should continue to start Saturday, Warren has out-touched him in the last two contests by 17-9 and 16-15 margins, though negative game scripts were a factor on both occasions.
Dec 25, 2024
Tops century mark in loss
Warren carried the ball 11 times for 71 yards and caught five of six targets for 41 yards in Wednesday's 29-10 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
He topped 100 scrimmage yards for the first time this season, but Najee Harris finished with two more totes and three more rushing yards. Warren has seen his workload increase the last two weeks, and while the Steelers lost both games, that can hardly be pinned on the third-year RB, who had a first-quarter TD run wiped out by a holding penalty Wednesday. Warren will look to wrap up the regular season in style in a Week 18 clash with the Bengals.
Dec 21, 2024
Works as lead back in Week 16
Warren rushed the ball 12 times for 48 yards in Saturday's 34-17 loss to the Ravens. He added five receptions on five targets for 44 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren has had inconsistent usage throughout the season, almost always working behind Najee Harris and even behind Cordarrelle Patterson on occasion. However, Warren led the backfield in Saturday's loss, totaling 17 touches compared to nine for Harris. He was particularly effective as a pass catcher, tallying long gains of 13 and 12 yards. It's unclear whether this usage will carry forward, though Harris has struggled with inefficiency for the last several weeks.
Dec 15, 2024
Held to 15 yards
Warren rushed the ball four times for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Eagles. He added one rush on two targets for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Pat Freiermuth was the only Steelers' skill-position player to deliver a useful fantasy performance as the offense ran only 41 plays for the game. Warren avoided a back-breaking mistake unlike Najee Harris, though this marked his fewest yards from scrimmage since Week 3. Warren's usage on the ground has been inconsistent this season, though he's had more regular production as a pass catcher and should have the chance to bounce back in that role in a Week 16 matchup against Baltimore.
Dec 9, 2024
Productive in victory
Warren rushed nine times for 47 yards while securing two of five targets for 25 yards during Sunday's 27-14 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for 52 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps Sunday, outpacing Najee Harris' 42 percent and Cordarrelle Patterson's 14 percent. Warren responded by topping 50 yards from scrimmage for a seventh consecutive game, but Harris was the team's lone running back to reach the end zone, as he logged a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Warren has seen his fair share of playing time recently and has carved out a somewhat consistent fantasy role.
Dec 2, 2024
Productive as receiver
Warren rushed the ball three times for nine yards in Sunday's 44-38 win over the Bengals. He added four receptions on four targets for 55 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren seemed to be gaining momentum in the Pittsburgh backfield entering Sunday's matchup, but he was oddly uninvolved as a rusher. He managed to save his day as a pass catcher, tallying long gains of 29 and 14 yards. Despite that positive work, it will be difficult to trust Warren in fantasy lineups given his inconsistent usage.
Nov 22, 2024
Records rushing TD in loss
Warren rushed 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of five targets for 19 yards in the Steelers' 24-19 loss to the Browns on Thursday night. He also returned one kickoff for 26 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren logged five fewer carries than Najee Harris but was more efficient with his opportunities, averaging 4.1 yards per carry to his teammate's 2.6. Warren also recorded his first rushing touchdown of the season on a three-yard run just before the midway point of the fourth quarter, and he's now recorded over 40 rushing yards in four straight games while tallying multiple receptions in five consecutive contests as well. Warren next takes aim at the Bengals' inconsistent defense in a Week 13 road matchup on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Nov 17, 2024
Strong volume again in Sunday's win
Warren carried the ball nine times for 41 yards and caught all four of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 18-16 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The third-year running back has benefitted from the Steelers' switch at quarterback from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson. In four games with Wilson under center, Warren has gotten double-digit touches each time, amassing 281 scrimmage yards over that stretch. The four catches were also a season high for Warren. He's still looking for his first touchdown of 2024, either on the ground or through the air, but he could end that drought in Week 12 against a Browns defense that just got gutted for 188 combined yards and three TDs by the versatile Taysom Hill.
Nov 17, 2024
Good to go Sunday
Warren (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren sat out practice Thursday with the injury and then was a limited participant Friday, prompting the Steelers to list him as questionable heading into the weekend. Though Pittsburgh signed another running back (Jonathan Ward) to its 53-man roster Saturday, his addition looks to have been mostly precautionary, as he'll be inactive for the contest with Warren getting the green light to play. Despite the missed practice this week, Warren should be ready to handle his usual duties as the Steelers' No. 2 back behind starter Najee Harris. Warren has earned at least nine touches in each of his last four appearances, but he has yet to find the end zone in any of his seven total outings so far this season.
Nov 16, 2024
Expected to play Sunday
Warren (back) is expected to play Sunday against the Ravens barring a pregame setback, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After logging a DNP on Thursday, Warren was able to get in a limited session Friday and was listed as questionable. In a big AFC North divisional tilt, Warren sounds like he's going to be able to play and help spell Najee Harris out of Pittsburgh's backfield. Warren is averaging 9.9 touches per game this season and has yet to score a touchdown, severely capping his fantasy upside.
Nov 15, 2024
Questionable after limited practice
Warren (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren practiced on a limited basis Friday after being unable to take the practice field Thursday. If Warren's unable to play his usual change-of-pace role behind Najee Harris in Sunday's critical rivalry game, Cordarrelle Patterson could see an increase in opportunities on offense.
Nov 14, 2024
Added to injury report
Warren didn't practice Thursday due to a back issue, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was a full participant Wednesday, so his addition to the Steelers' Week 11 injury report a day later is something to monitor ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens. Meanwhile, fellow running back Najee Harris, who missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle concern, returned to full participation Thursday.
Nov 10, 2024
Usage ticking up
Warren rushed the ball 14 times for 66 yards in Sunday's 28-27 win over the Commanders. He added two receptions on two targets for 29 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren earned a season-high 16 touches and out-performed Najee Harris for much of the game. He accounted for three of Pittsburgh's 10 longest gains from scrimmage, highlighted by rushes of 12 and 10 yards as well as a reception that went for 26 yards. The primary downside for Warren's projected role is his lack of work near the goal line, particularly after he lost a crucial fumble in Sunday's winning effort. Even so, his usage continues to tick up, and he should settle into seeing around 12 to 15 touches per game on a consistent basis.
Oct 29, 2024
Produces 63 yards off 11 touches
Warren rushed nine times for 46 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Monday's 26-18 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Warren continues to be one of the more effective backups in the league with another solid showing off of double-digit touches. The 25-year-old's production has taken off in recent weeks alongside quarterback Russell Wilson's activation in Week 7. Najee Harris is still the bell cow of this offense, but Warren has shown that he can be effective in a limited role for those in deeper fantasy formats.
Oct 21, 2024
Solid in backup role
Warren rushed 12 times for 44 yards and caught two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 37-15 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Najee Harris was the star of Pittsburgh's rushing attack in a lopsided win over the Jets, but Warren still produced off of 14 combined touches in the win. This was the backup's best output since Week 2 before poor play book-ended a minor knee injury in recent weeks. Warren should continue to see a handful of touches behind Harris when the Steelers host the Giants next Monday.
Oct 14, 2024
Nine touches in return
Warren recorded six rushes for seven yards in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Raiders. He added three receptions on three targets for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren returned from a two-game absence and is perhaps healthy for the first time this season. He worked as the change-of-pace back to Najee Harris and was ineffective in the role. However, Warren has shown the ability to work efficiently through his first two seasons in the league and will look to get his campaign on track after being derailed by injuries early on.

Cleared to face Raiders
Warren (knee) has been upgraded from his prior listed questionable status and will not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders, Burt Lauten of Steelers.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, Warren practiced fully Friday, with coach Mike Tomlin noting afterward that the running back headed into the weekend on a "good trajectory on the upswing." Now that Warren -- who had missed two straight games -- has been cleared to face Las Vegas on Sunday, he's in a position to reclaim a portion of the Steelers' backfield duties alongside Najee Harris, a context that makes him a lineup consideration for those in deeper formats or who are in need of Week 6 RB help due to injuries or bye week issues.
Oct 11, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Coach Mike Tomlin relayed Friday that Warren (knee) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, Warren was able to practice fully Friday, which gives him a chance to suit up this weekend after being viewed as doubtful earlier this week. The Steelers kick off at 4:05 ET on Sunday, so ideally those inclined to consider him in fantasy lineups will have added context regarding his status available prior to the first wave of kickoffs Sunday.
Oct 10, 2024
Remains limited at practice
Warren (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Missi Matthews of the team's official site, earlier this week coach Mike Tomlin indicated that Warren was doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders, however the running back's limited participation Wednesday and Thursday offers some hope that he could be available this weekend. In any case, Friday's final injury report will clarify Warren's official Week 6 designation.
Oct 9, 2024
Limited in practice Wednesday
Warren (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was called doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders by coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday, so a limited practice one day later is a positive development in that context. Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) has already been ruled out for Sunday, so Warren would return to a complementary role alongside Najee Harris should Warren make a surprising Week 6 return.
Oct 8, 2024
Unlikely to play Week 6
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Warren (knee) is doubtful to be available for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Tomlin has already ruled out fellow running back Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) for a second straight game, and though the coach is still leaving the door open for Warren to play Week 6, the 25-year-old will in all likelihood sit out a third consecutive contest. While Warren and Patterson were sidelined for this past Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys, Najee Harris (14 carries, two receptions, 74 percent snap share) took on the majority of touches and playing time out of the backfield, while Aaron Shampklin (four carries, no receptions, 19 percent snap share) and Jonathan Ward (two carries, no receptions, five percent snap share) saw limited work as the Nos. 2 and 3 options, respectively. Expect a similar breakdown for the three backs in Week 6, while Warren most likely turns his focus toward a return to the lineup Week 7 versus the Jets.
Oct 4, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Warren (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fellow RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) has also been ruled out for the contest, which sets the stage for Aaron Shampklin to back up Najee Harris on Sunday. Meanwhile, La'Mical Perine and Jonathan Ward are candidates to be elevated from Pittsburgh's practice squad ahead of Week 5 action. Warren will target a possible return to action Oct. 13 against the Raiders.
Oct 4, 2024
Expected to miss Week 5
Warren (knee) is not expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday, and it looks like he's trending toward a second consecutive missed game due to the knee injury he picked up Week 3. With Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) also having missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, Aaron Shampklin and practice squad player Jonathan Ward look destined for increased work behind Najee Harris versus Dallas. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Warren is officially ruled out for Week 5, or whether the Steelers will give him a chance to prove his health over the weekend.
Oct 3, 2024
Logs another absence
Warren (knee) missed Thursday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) have both missed consecutive practices, clouding the duo's status for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. If one or both are limited or out this weekend, Aaron Shampklin would be a candidate to log added Week 5 snaps behind top back Najee Harris.
Oct 2, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Warren (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), with the duo's status ahead of Sunday night's game against the Cowboys worth monitoring. If Warren remains out this weekend, Patterson (if available) and Aaron Shampklin would be in line to log added complementary looks versus Dallas behind top back Najee Harris.
Sep 27, 2024
Ruled out this week
Warren (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren, who didn't practice this week, will thus target a potential return to action Oct. 6 against the Cowboys. In his looming absence, look for Cordarrelle Patterson to see added complementary looks behind top back Najee Harris, with Jonathan Ward and/or Aaron Shampklin candidates to be elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 4 action.
Sep 26, 2024
Sitting out another practice
Warren (knee) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin hasn't closed the door on Warren playing Sunday in Indianapolis, but with consecutive absences from practice to begin Week 4 prep, the running back appears to be trending toward missing his first game of the season. Meanwhile, Najee Harris was back on the field Thursday after a rest day Wednesday and appears positioned to take on a higher volume of the snaps and touches out of the backfield Sunday versus the Colts if Warren is in fact inactive for the contest.
Sep 25, 2024
Not practicing
Warren (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren had an MRI on Monday, with coach Mike Tomlin then saying Tuesday that he's unsure if the running back will play this Sunday against the Colts. In any case, Warren is averaging only 3.9 carries, 1.7 targets and 27.3 total yards per game, sharing backup work with Cordarrelle Patterson while Najee Harris takes most of the carries. The switch from Matt Canada to Arthur Smith at offensive coordinator seems to have been good for the Steelers but terrible for Warren's fantasy value.
Sep 24, 2024
Looks iffy for Week 4
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged Tuesday that Warren's (knee) status for Sunday's game against the Colts is in question, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Tomlin didn't disclose the findings from the MRI that Warren underwent Monday, one day after the running back exited the Steelers' win over the Chargers due to a knee injury. At the very least, the coach's decision not to immediately rule Warren out for Week 4 suggests that the knee injury isn't believed to be too significant. Per Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com, Tomlin said that Warren will begin Week 4 prep Wednesday as a limited practice participant. The Steelers will likely wait and see how Warren looks during practices Wednesday through Friday before determining whether he takes an injury designation into Sunday.
Sep 23, 2024
Getting MRI on knee
Warren (knee) is slated to undergo an MRI on his knee Monday, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike Tomlin said after Sunday's 20-10 win over the Chargers that he noticed Warren "wasn't running smoothly" and decided to pull the running back from the game, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. Prior to exiting, Warren rushed just three times for 10 yards while securing his only target for minus-1 yard. If MRI results reveal an injury that could force Warren to miss any time, Cordarrelle Patterson will figure to play an increased role against the Colts in Week 4, especially with Najee Harris (arm) having been spotted wearing a sling in the locker room Monday.
Sep 22, 2024
Slips to third in team's RB usage
Warren rushed three times for five yards and caught his only target for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Warren saw significantly less volume than both Najee Harris (18 carries, five targets) and Cordarrelle Patterson (four carries, five targets). With Patterson supplanting Warren as the team's top change-of-pace option behind Harris, Warren will be tough to trust in Week 4 against the Colts.
Sep 16, 2024
Uptick in involvement
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 42 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Broncos. He added two catches on two targets for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren was out-touched 18-11 by Najee Harris, though he encouragingly saw an uptick in his usage Sunday. He was effective in his role as both a rusher and pass catcher, tallying long gains of 11 and 12 yards, respectively. This performance is an encouraging sign that Warren is getting healthier after suffering a hamstring injury during training camp, though he still appears to be working clearly behind Harris.
Sep 9, 2024
Limited involvement against Atlanta
Warren rushed the ball twice for seven yards and recorded two catches on two targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 18-10 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Warren was cleared to play Sunday after battling a hamstring injury throughout the preseason. Based on his efficiency from 2023, it was expected that Warren would challenge Najee Harris for the lead-back role in Pittsburgh, though he was limited to only 22 offensive snaps in Week 1 compared to 38 for Harris. That likely indicates that Warren isn't fully healthy, though there should be more clarity on that as the week progresses.
Sep 6, 2024
Cleared to play Week 1
Warren (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday, suggesting that he has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he picked up in mid-August. Despite an offseason overhaul that included a new quarterback in Russell Wilson (questionable; calf) and a new offensive coordinator in Arthur Smith, Pittsburgh is expected to deploy its backfield duo of Najee Harris and Warren in similar proportions to last season. Warren had 149 carries and 74 targets in the 2023 regular season to Harris' 255 carries and 38 targets.
Sep 5, 2024
Logs full practice
Warren (hamstring) is listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren has been rehabbing a hamstring issue since being injured in an Aug. 17 preseason game, including being limited in Wednesday's practice, but it looks like he's fully ready for Week 1. The third-year pro doesn't look like he'll carry an injury designation into Sunday's road matchup against the Falcons, so fantasy managers can be fully confident in him handling his usual role as a co-starter out of the backfield alongside Najee Harris.
Sep 4, 2024
Limited in practice
Warren (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren missed a couple weeks of practice after injuring his hamstring Aug. 17 during a preseason game. He told reporters Aug. 26 that he anticipated playing Week 1, and he said the same thing this Monday after returning to practice. His consistent optimism is a good sign, but fantasy managers will feel even better if Warren progresses to full participation Thursday and/or Friday.
Sep 2, 2024
Practicing, plans to play Sunday
Warren (hamstring) noted that he practiced Monday, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though it remains to be seen how the Steelers list his participation level on their first official injury report of the week Wednesday, Warren stated Monday that he'll "be ready by Sunday." Assuming he's available for the team's regular-season opener against the Falcons, Warren will be in line to operate in a backfield time-share with fellow RB Najee Harris in Week 1.
Aug 26, 2024
Expects to be ready for Week 1
Warren (hamstring) said Monday he expects to be ready for Pittsburgh's regular-season opener against the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 8, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was limited to light work during the portion of Monday's practice open to the media, per Batko, but he still has nearly two weeks to get fully healthy for Week 1. The third-year pro suffered a hamstring injury during the Steelers' second preseason game, but there doesn't appear to be tangible concern about his regular-season availability. When Warren is back to full health, he seems positioned to operate as a co-starter out of the backfield alongside Najee Harris, as was the case during the 2023 season. Cordarrelle Patterson figures to be the primary beneficiary behind Harris if Warren's injury does linger.
Aug 20, 2024
Injury downplayed by coach
Coach Mike Tomlin noted Tuesday that Warren "is out probably out for this week," but added that the running back's hamstring issue is "not anything that's a long-term concern," Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While it's probably safe to assume that Warren won't play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Lions, Tomlin's words Tuesday would appear to bode well with regard to the running back's chances of being available for Week 1 action. Once he's back on the field, Warren will resume working in Pittsburgh's backfield in tandem with Najee Harris, a looming time-share that should result in both players remaining on the fantasy radar this season.
Aug 18, 2024
Set to miss multiple weeks
Wareen (hamstring) is slated to miss multiple weeks due to the injury he sustained in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, and his status for the Sept. 8 season opener against Atlanta has yet to be determined, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren won't suit up for the remainder of the preseason, and it remains to be seen if he'll be available for the start of the regular season. Najee Harris would likely see additional playing time should Warren miss regular-season action, as the two running backs finished the 2023 campaign in a timeshare, while Cordarrelle Patterson could see additional opportunities on offense in a change-of-pace role.
Aug 17, 2024
Injures hamstring Saturday
Warren suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
The team officially is listing Warren as doubtful to return, but such a designation should be taken with a grain of salt considering its exhibition season and not the regular season. Still, the situation should be monitored to get a sense of its impact on Warren, fellow RB Najee Harris and the rest of the Steelers backfield. Warren is on the heels of a 2023 campaign in which he posted 1,154 yards from scrimmage and four rushing touchdowns in 17 regular-season games.
Aug 9, 2024
Three touches to Harris' four
Warren rushed three times for 11 yards and wasn't targeted in Friday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Warren and Najee Harris, who had 25 yards on four touches, both saw time with the first-team offense in the first quarter. The two running backs were in a timeshare last season and will likely continue to split playing time under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Next Saturday's preseason game against the Bills offers another opportunity for Warren and Harris to familiarize themselves with Smith's scheme.
Jan 15, 2024
Solid numbers in playoff loss
Warren rushed eight times for 38 yards and brought in both targets for 16 yards in the Steelers' 31-17 wild-card loss to the Bills on Monday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Warren logged just four fewer carries than backfield mate Najee Harris and also matched his teammate's two receptions. Warren enjoyed an expanded role in the 2023 campaign, establishing himself as a legitimate two-way threat out of the backfield with a 149-784-4 line on the ground that he complemented with an impressive 61 receptions and 370 yards on 74 targets while seeing action in all 17 regular-season games. Warren remains under contact for 2024 at a very reasonable $989,000 cap figure, essentially ensuring he'll be back to compete for another significant role alongside Najee Harris.
Jan 6, 2024
Struggles with ball security
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 33 yards in Saturday's 17-10 win over the Ravens. He added five receptions on five targets for 17 yards and also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The game was played in rainy conditions, which led to some sloppy play. Warren was one of the culprits by fumbling twice, one of which was recovered deep in Baltimore territory. He wasn't benched for any lengthy period of time as a result, but he was far out-touched and out-played by Najee Harris. Despite the disappointing close to the regular season, Warren had a breakout season by tallying 1,154 yards from scrimmage to go along with four total touchdowns.
Jan 1, 2024
Narrowly misses 100 yards
Warren rushed the ball 13 times for 75 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Seahawks. He added four receptions on four targets for 23 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren worked behind Najee Harris and was nearly doubled in total touches, though he was very efficient with his opportunity. His longest gain of the day went for 23 yards, and he also tallied Pittsburgh's first score of the game with an 18-yard scamper late in the first quarter. Warren remained the more impactful pass catcher out of the backfield to further enhance his role, and he now has at least four receptions in four consecutive games. He'll continue to work as the explosive change-of-pace back in Week 18 against the Ravens.
Dec 23, 2023
Eight carries, five catches in win
Warren rushed eight times for 24 yards and caught five of six targets for 30 yards in Saturday's 34-11 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Najee Harris worked as Pittsburgh's primary option on the ground, rushing 19 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, but Warren caught five passes for a second consecutive game while Harris went without a target Saturday. Warren has reached 50 rushing yards only five times in 15 games, but his steady involvement as a pass catcher gives Warren a respectable PPR floor for a Week 17 matchup with the Seahawks.
Dec 16, 2023
Paces Steelers in scrimmage yards
Warren rushed the ball 10 times for 40 yards in Saturday's 30-13 loss to the Colts. He added five receptions on six targets for 28 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren led the Pittsburgh backfield with 15 touches and led the team in scrimmage yards. While that says more about the state of the Steelers' offense than Warren's production, he did manage a pair of gains of more than 10 yards. He's had both inconsistent usage and production much of the season, though he now has at least five targets in consecutive games and should remain the lead pass catcher out of the backfield while splitting carries with Najee Harris moving forward.
Dec 8, 2023
Compiles 40 total yards in loss
Warren rushed seven times for 11 yards and secured four of five targets for 29 yards in the Steelers' 21-18 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Warren slogged through his most inefficient game of the season on the ground, although his receiving yardage total was his highest since Week 5. The second-year pro logged five fewer carries than backfield mate Najee Harris overall, and although he was more involved than the latter in the passing game, Warren figures to remain in a complementary role in a Week 15 road matchup against the Colts a week from Saturday.
Dec 3, 2023
Efficient on limited chances
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 59 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Warren saw his workload diminish to its lowest mark since Week 8. He was still efficient on the ground, with his longest gain of the day going for 18 yards. More concerning was Warren's lack of involvement as a pass catcher, as he failed to record multiple receptions for just the second time this season. After briefly challenging for the lead-back role in Pittsburgh, he seems to have firmly slipped behind Najee Harris on the depth chart and will be reliant upon big plays for his production.
Nov 26, 2023
Step back against Cincy
Warren rushed the ball 13 times for 49 yards in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals. He added three receptions for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren lost a fumble early in the game, though he wasn't benched as a result. He nearly matched Najee Harris in workload on the ground and was more involved as pass catcher, though unlikely much of the season, Harris bested him in terms of efficiency. Despite the average performance, the Steelers have been committed to splitting the backfield between Harris and Warren, and that's likely to be the case once again in Week 13 against Arizona.
Nov 19, 2023
Top playmaker in Pittsburgh
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 129 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Browns. He added three receptions for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren was the lone bright spot of the Pittsburgh offense, as he accounted for the team's only touchdown with a 74-yard rush early in the second half. He had other big gains of 11, nine and eight yards, and on the rare occasion the Steelers were able to move the ball, Warren was responsible. He's now topped 100 yards in consecutive games and should continue to get plenty of opportunity while working alongside Najee Harris.
Nov 12, 2023
Another big game
Warren rushed 15 times for 101 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-19 win over the Packers. He also caught two of four targets for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren followed last week's career-best rushing tally by posting a new personal high Sunday. The tailback had a couple long runs, including a 16-yard touchdown during the second quarter. His production came while starter Najee Harris also had a good game, rushing 16 times for 82 yards and a score of his own. Despite sharing snaps, Warren's stock continues to rise ahead of Week 11's divisional clash with the Browns.
Nov 2, 2023
Career-best performance in win
Warren rushed 11 times for 88 yards and secured all three targets for 25 yards in the Steelers' 20-16 win over the Titans on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Warren broke out for a career-best rushing yardage tally on a night where he faced a Titans defense that had been exceedingly difficult to run against all season. The second-year back's total paced the Steelers, and he notably outgained backfield mate Najee Harris by 19 yards on five fewer carries. Despite his stellar effort Thursday, which also saw Warren come within a half-yard short of the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, it's likely Harris remains the lead back in terms of workload during a favorable Week 10 home matchup against the Packers on Nov. 12.
Oct 29, 2023
Tallies 38 yards from scrimmage
Warren rushed five times for 19 yards while securing four of five targets for 19 yards during the Steelers' 20-10 loss to Jacksonville on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren led the Steelers in rushing yards Sunday, but he still struggled to provide much of a spark as the Steelers' offense continued to falter. The 24-year-old has provided some fantasy value while sharing backfield work with Najee Harris, but Warren hasn't displayed much upside, especially on the ground. The second-year pro has rushed 45 times for 175 yards and a touchdown while securing 26 of 32 targets for 184 yards over the first seven games of the season.
Oct 22, 2023
Finds end zone in win
Warren rushed six times for 32 yards and a touchdown and brought in one of two targets for minus-1 yard in the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren put together a typically efficient performance while recording his first touchdown of the campaign on a 13-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter. The OSU product wasn't able to contribute in the passing game as usual, but he remains a very effective complementary option to Najee Harris heading into a Week 8 home matchup against the Jaguars.
Oct 8, 2023
Good efficiency in win
Warren rushed the ball nine times for 40 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Ravens. He added three receptions on three targets for 39 yards.
ANALYSIS
Warren was narrowly out-touched by Najee Harris, 15-12. However, Warren was the far more efficient of the duo, as he racked up 79 total yards -- his second-highest mark of the season -- as opposed to Harris' 40 yards. The Steelers are heading into a Week 6 bye, and it's possible that Warren will emerge with an even more substantial role in Week 7 against the Rams.
Oct 1, 2023
Season-high in touches Sunday
Warren carried the ball eight times for 29 yards and caught all six of his targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't gain much yardage, Warren's 14 touches were a season high as he reached double digits for the third straight game. His six receptions also led the Steelers, as the passing game struggled to stretch the field even before Kenny Pickett (knee) went down. Pickett's availability for Week 5 against the Ravens isn't yet clear, but if Mitch Trubisky is under center, Warren could be heavily involved in the offense again as a check-down option.
Sep 25, 2023
Receives 11 touches on SNF
Warren rushed eight times for 29 yards and caught three of four targets for 23 receiving yards in Sunday's 23-18 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Warren saw his workload increase against Las Vegas as Mike Tomlin alluded to earlier in the week, but the added touches did not come at the expense of starter Najee Harris (19-65-0). Pittsburgh's coaching staff wound up increasing both backs' overall usage with a balanced offensive strategy that resulted in a win. Neither player stood out in the box score Sunday, so the backfield picture figures to remain the same for the 2-1 Steelers. Warren should still sniff double-digit touches in an expanded backup role against the Texans next Sunday.
Sep 24, 2023
Likely to get more work Week 3
Warren is expected to get more work in the running game in Sunday's contest in Las Vegas, Mike Garofolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Garofolo notes that head coach Mike Tomlin had already alluded to Warren picking up more snaps after the second-year back accounted for 86 yards on 10 touches (six carries, four receptions) in the Steelers' Week 2 win over the Browns. Through the first two contests, Warren has logged 12 total targets, but he now looks poised to cut into starter Najee Harris' workload on the ground in addition to continuing to serve as the Steelers' top pass-catching back. Garofolo relays that Harris is still "a big part" of the team's plans, so he'll likely remain the Steelers' top ballcarrier Week 3 even though he could cede a few more touches than usual to Warren.
Sep 19, 2023
Nets 88 yards on MNF
Warren rushed six times for 20 yards and caught four of six targets for 66 yards in Monday's 26-22 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Warren struggled to find running room in a tough defensive battle, but he made his impact as a receiver on a couple of crucial drive-extending plays. The Oklahoma State product has tallied 10 receptions through the first two games of the season, in addition to spelling starter Najee Harris (10-43-0). The latter continues to see early-down work, but the backs' total touch shares grew closer with Harris seeing 11 to Warren's 10 on Monday. Expect Warren to continue to be mixed in offensively when the Steelers face the Raiders on Sunday.
Sep 11, 2023
Inefficient in opener
Warren rushed three times for six yards while securing five of six targets for 12 yards during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to San Francisco on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Reports ahead of Sunday's regular-season opener suggested that Warren would be a factor in the Steelers' offense alongside starter Najee Harris, but neither running back was able to generate much production as the team fell behind early. While Warren was inefficient when he had the ball in his hands, he was on the field for 40 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps, while Harris was on the field for 52 percent. It's unclear whether Warren's snap share will continue given his inefficient performance Sunday, but the Steelers' rushing attack will have a slightly more favorable matchup against the Bengals next Sunday.
Sep 10, 2023
Could see increased work behind Harris
While Najee Harris profiles as the Steelers' starting RB and is on track to see his share of early-down work Sunday against the 49ers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that Warren is also to expected to factor in on early downs as well as third-down situations.
ANALYSIS
Harris logged 272 carries (to Warren's 77) in 17 games last season, but Rapoport indicates that the Steelers may be inclined to lesson their starter's workload to some degree in 2023. If that transpires and Warren does end up absorbing extra touches, he'll have a chance to gain fantasy lineup utility in deeper formats this coming season.
Aug 24, 2023
Scores once on two touches
Warren took two carries for 14 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Warren got more work than Najee Harris over the first two weeks of the preseason, but Thursday night against Atlanta's second-stringers Harris took five touches for 34 yards and a TD while sharing the first two drives with his backup. Harris scored from one yard out on the opening drive, while Warren struck from eight yards out to close out the next series. Neither played after that, nor did most of Pittsburgh's other key players, with coach Mike Tomlin ready to head into Week 1 against the 49ers after his first-team offense turned in a dominant preseason.
Aug 20, 2023
Rips off long score
Warren rushed the ball once for 62 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 27-15 preseason win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Warren entered the game as the second running back behind Najee Harris, but his lone carry came with the entire first-team offense on the field. He weaved through the Bills' defense for the long score and showcased some needed big-play ability out of the backfield. Warren is still likely to begin the regular season as the second back behind Harris, but he's making the case to see the field more regularly in his second professional campaign.
Aug 12, 2023
Mixed in with starters
Warren rushed three times for 13 yards on Pittsburgh's opening drive in a 27-17 preseason win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
It was interesting to see Warren get his snaps mixed in with the first unit, especially considering expected starter Najee Harris received no carries and one reception for a loss on the same drive. There is little doubt that Harris will be the starting back in Pittsburgh come Week 1, but Warren's inclusion with the first unit shows the growing trust the coaching staff has in its standout UDFA from a year ago.
Jan 9, 2023
Tops 40 yards from scrimmage Sunday
Warren rushed six times for 36 yards while securing three of four targets for seven yards during the Steelers' 28-14 win over Cleveland on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren racked up a season-high 15 touches during Pittsburgh's Week 17 win over the Ravens, but he had a more limited role in the team's offense to close out the regular season. Although starting running back Najee Harris appeared in every game this year, Warren carved out a somewhat consistent role as the No. 2 option in the backfield, rushing 77 times for 379 yards and a touchdown while securing 28 of 33 targets for 214 yards. While Harris should remain the clear No. 1 running back in Pittsburgh next season, Warren has appeared to gain the trust of the team's coaching staff as the top backup.
Jan 2, 2023
Season-high 15 touches in win
Warren had 12 carries for 76 yards and caught all three of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Warren was part of a two-headed rushing attack with Najee Harris (22-111-0) that lit up the Ravens' stout defensive front for a combined for 198 rushing yards on the day. The undrafted rookie has seen his role increase late in the season, receiving double-digit carries for the second time in three weeks. Harris is still the lead back in Pittsburgh, but Warren is proving that he is more than just a third-down back. The Oklahoma State product will look to finish his solid rookie campaign on a high note when the Steelers take on the Browns in Week 18.
Dec 25, 2022
Tallies 30 yards from scrimmage
Warren rushed six times for 23 yards while securing one of two targets for seven yards during the Steelers' 13-10 win over the Raiders on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for just 30 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps Saturday, but he still saw some touches. He's now logged at least five touches in each of the last three weeks, and he's logged at least 30 yards from scrimmage in back-to-back games. However, he's had a relatively muted role with Najee Harris healthy.
Dec 19, 2022
Reaches end zone against Carolina
Warren rushed 11 times for 38 yards and a touchdown while securing his lone target for 11 yards during the Steelers' 24-16 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren had been limited to 55 yards from scrimmage over his last three games, but he bounced back with a solid performance in Carolina that included his first touchdown of the season. The 24-year-old has been somewhat inconsistent while working behind starter Najee Harris this year, and Warren has rushed 53 times for 244 yards and a touchdown while securing 21 of 24 targets for 178 yards.
Dec 12, 2022
Records five touches against Ravens
Warren rushed three times for 11 yards while securing two of three targets for 16 yards during the Steelers' 16-14 loss to Baltimore on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren racked up 19 yards in his return to action last week, but he was slightly more involved during Pittsburgh's narrow loss Sunday. In his three games since racking up at least 75 yards in back-to-back appearances, the undrafted rookie has rushed four times for 16 yards while securing five of six targets for 39 yards.
Dec 5, 2022
Minimal involvement in return
Warren rushed once for five yards while securing both of his targets for 14 yards during the Steelers' 19-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren missed Monday's game against the Colts due to a hamstring injury but was back in action for Sunday's Week 13 matchup. While he outpaced Benny Snell in snaps, Warren was on the field for just 20 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps Sunday. The undrafted rookie topped 75 yards from scrimmage in two of his three appearances prior to his absence, but he's unlikely to be a consistent fantasy contributor as long as Najee Harris remains healthy.
Dec 4, 2022
Suits up Sunday
Warren (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren, who was inactive this past Monday versus the Colts, practiced fully this week, yet still carried a questionable designation ahead of Sunday's contest. He'll be available against Atlanta, though with starter Najee Harris slated to play through an oblique issue after returning to a limited at practice Friday, look for Warren to work in complementary role, with Benny Snell -- who stepped in for Harris after he exited Monday's game against Indianapolis -- on hand to provide support should either Harris or Warren be limited or suffer any setbacks.
Dec 2, 2022
Questionable Sunday
Warren (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren practiced fully during each of Pittsburgh's three practice sessions this week, but he'll still carry a questionable designation ahead of Week 13. It wouldn't be surprising to see the undrafted rookie suit up this week after missing Monday's win over the Colts. However, Warren would be in line to serve in a backup capacity since Najee Harris will be able to play through an oblique issue.
Nov 30, 2022
Begins week with full practice
Warren (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Earlier Wednesday, Warren said that he was on track to put an end to his one-game absence and return to action this Sunday against the Falcons, and his ability to begin the week as a full practice participant backs up his optimism. Though the undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State has mainly served in a complementary role this season, Warren could be primed for his largest workload to date if top back Najee Harris (oblique) -- who sat out Wednesday's session -- is unable to play. Even if Harris is cleared to play this weekend, the Steelers could look to manage his snaps and lean more heavily on Warren than usual.
Nov 30, 2022
Trending toward return in Week 13
Warren said Wednesday that he's been cleared to return from his hamstring injury ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Barring any setbacks in practice this week, Warren looks like he'll be ready to play this weekend after sitting out Monday's 24-17 win over the Colts. Warren's status is of more importance than usual, given that Najee Harris sustained an abdominal injury Monday and isn't a sure bet to suit up Week 13. Wednesday's injury report will clarify the practice participation level of Pittsburgh's top two running backs.
Nov 26, 2022
Out for Monday
Warren (hamstring) will not play in Monday's matchup against the Colts, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren didn't practice all week, so it's hardly surprising to see the rookie unavailable. Najee Harris easily put together his best game of the season back in Week 11 and will likely be tasked with the majority share of the backfield in Warren's absence.
Nov 25, 2022
Logs another DNP
Warren (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Friday, Teresa Varley of Steelers.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though coach Mike Tomlin referred to Warren's hamstring injury as "not a significant" one, the running back has missed back-to-back practices. If Warren ends up out or limited Monday night against the Colts, Benny Snell would be in line to handle complementary work in Week 12 behind Pittsburgh's top RB Najee Harris.
Nov 24, 2022
Sits out practice Thursday
Warren (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren suffered what coach Mike Tomlin referred to as "not a significant" hamstring injury in Week 11 against the Bengals, but at this stage the running back's status for Monday night's game against the Colts is uncertain. Warren now has two more chances to return to practice ahead of the contest, but if he's unavailable versus Indianapolis, Benny Snell would be in line to log complementary snaps in Week 12 behind top back Najee Harris.
Nov 22, 2022
Status in question for Monday
Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Warren's (hamstring) availability Monday at Indianapolis is up in the air, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was ruled out of this past Sunday's loss to the Bengals due to a hamstring injury, which isn't "significant," according to Tomlin. Still, Warren's practice reps seemingly will be capped when the Steelers take the practice field Thursday. If Warren is inhibited or sidelined Monday, Benny Snell would be the primary reserve running back behind Najee Harris.
Nov 20, 2022
Exits Sunday's game
Warren was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals with a hamstring injury, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Before his exit, Warren had caught one pass for nine yards. In his absence, Benny Snell is available to log complementary snaps behind top back Najee Harris.
Nov 14, 2022
Logs season-high yards in win
Warren rushed nine times for 37 yards while securing all three of his targets for 40 yards during the Steelers' 20-10 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers indicated this week that Warren could see increased playing time following the team's Week 9 bye, and he played 43 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps in the win. Although Najee Harris served as the clear lead back with 20 carries for 99 yards, Warren's 77 yards from scrimmage marked his highest total of the season. While the undrafted rookie should continue to operate as the Steelers' clear secondary option in the backfield, it's possible that he remains slightly more involved so the team can get a change of pace.
Nov 10, 2022
Practice reps haven't increased
Warren indicated Thursday that he hasn't had any increase in practice reps or responsibilities as Sunday's game against the Saints approaches, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site, there's been speculation that Warren -- who has averaged 5.3 yards on his 29 rushing attempts to date -- could see more backfield touches moving forward, but offensive coordinator Matt Canada suggested Thursday that he believes lead back Najee Harris, who has averaged 3.3 yards per carry on 108 rushes thus far, is now healthy and "will start trending in the right direction, as well." In any case, Warren figures to continue to contribute in third-down situations, a context that could result in the undrafted free agent seeing enough touches in the weeks ahead to make his mark in deeper leagues.
Nov 9, 2022
Could see added opportunities
When asked Tuesday if Warren can become a feature back in the Steelers offense, coach Mike Tomlin replied "he's a quality back who has made some plays," while adding "we'll keep giving him an opportunity to do so, and maybe he'll write that script," Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, top RB Najee Harris, who suffered a foot injury during training camp, has managed to play in all eight of the Steelers' games thus far, while averaging 3.3 yards on 108 carries. For his part, Warren has averaged 5.3 yards on his 29 rushing opportunities to date, and while Tomlin's comments don't necessarily foreshadow the undrafted rookie supplanting Harris as Pittsburgh's lead back following the team's bye week, it wouldn't surprise us to see Warren log added touches in the coming weeks, on the heels of a six-carry, 50-yard effort (to go along with three catches for 25 yards) in the team's 35-13 loss to the Eagles in Week 8.
Oct 31, 2022
Leading rusher in loss
Warren rushed six times for 50 yards while securing all three of his targets for 25 yards during the Steelers' 35-13 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for just 29 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps Sunday, but he logged nine touches and racked up a career-high 75 yards from scrimmage in the blowout loss. Despite his encouraging performance Sunday, Warren remains firmly behind Najee Harris on the Steelers' depth chart and is unlikely to be as involved in closer games down the stretch.
Oct 24, 2022
Limited role in primetime
Warren rushed twice for seven yards while securing both of his targets for 17 yards during the Steelers' 16-10 loss to Miami on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for just 23 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps Sunday, his lowest mark since Week 3. He was unable to do much with his limited touches and was held under 25 yards from scrimmage for a second consecutive week. As long as Najee Harris remains healthy, Warren is unlikely to be a very fantasy-relevant option.
Oct 17, 2022
Minimal work against Buccaneers
Warren had two carries for two yards during Sunday's 20-18 victory over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Warren racked up a career-high 63 yards from scrimmage during last week's blowout loss to the Bills, but he was much less involved during Sunday's Week 6 matchup. He played just 31 percent of the team's offensive snaps and was unable to accomplish much with his limited touches. The 23-year-old should continue to see limited work as long as Najee Harris is healthy.
Oct 10, 2022
Efficient against Buffalo
Warren rushed five times for 24 yards while securing four of five targets for 39 yards during the Steelers' 38-3 loss to Buffalo on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for a season-high 51 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps Sunday, and he outpaced starter Najee Harris by one snap on offense. However, it's worth noting that most of Warren's production came in the fourth quarter, when the game was well out of reach. The undrafted rookie's efficiency was encouraging, but he should continue to see a lesser role when the Steelers are in closer games.
Oct 3, 2022
Logs four touches in loss
Warren rushed three times for 18 yards while securing his lone target for four yards during the Steelers' 24-20 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for just 25 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps Monday, marking his second-lowest percentage of the season. However, he averaged a team-high 6.0 yards per carry, highlighted by a 14-yard run early in the second quarter. Warren's workload should remain limited as long as Najee Harris is healthy, but the Oklahoma State product has been efficient with his occasional opportunities this year.
Sep 23, 2022
Efficient with limited touches
Warren rushed four times for 30 yards while securing his lone target for three yards during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to the Browns on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Warren was on the field for just 12 offensive snaps during Thursday's matchup, but he recorded touches on nearly half of his snaps. The 23-year-old averaged 7.5 yards per carry in the loss but had a somewhat limited fantasy impact due to his lack of touches behind starter Najee Harris. Over his first three professional games, Warren has rushed 11 times for 52 yards while securing two of three targets for three yards.
Sep 19, 2022
Minimal results against New England
Warren rushed four times for 15 yards while securing his lone target for no yards during the Steelers' 17-14 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Warren saw increased playing time late in last week's regular-season opener against the Bengals since Najee Harris left with a foot injury, but Harris started Sunday's Week 2 matchup after practicing fully Thursday and Friday. As a result, Warren was on the field for just 29 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps, and he was unable to generate much production with his limited touches. As long as Harris remains healthy, it seems unlikely that the Steelers' offense can sustain two fantasy-relevant running backs, especially given how inefficient the team has been early in the season.
Sep 18, 2022
Slated to work behind Harris
Warren will serve as the backup running back Sunday against the Patriots since Najee Harris will be available, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Harris suffered a foot injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime win over the Bengals, and Warren logged seven yards on three carries in relief. Harris was limited in practice Wednesday but was a full participant Thursday and Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation for Week 2. While it's possible that the Steelers try to manage Harris' workload ahead of Thursday's Week 3 matchup against the Browns, Warren should operate as the clear No. 2 running back as long as Harris stays healthy.
Sep 11, 2022
Replaces injured starter
Warren ran for seven yards on three carries and drew one target without a catch against Cincinnati on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Starter Najee Harris left the game after suffering a foot injury in the fourth quarter, which is concerning given that it was a very close contest when Harris left. If the foot is a problem next week then the Steelers might need to start Warren in Harris' place against New England in Week 2. Warren is an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State (Utah State prior to that), but in this game he was decisively ahead of fourth-year back Benny Snell, who was active but saw no touches after Harris' exit.
Sep 5, 2022
Listed as No. 2 running back
Warren is listed as the No. 2 running back on the Steelers' Week 1 depth chart, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren's listing as Pittsburgh's backup running back doesn't come as a significant surprise, as he beat out Anthony McFarland for a spot on the 53-man roster and drew praise from the team's coaching staff during the offseason. The Steelers have expressed a desire to give Najee Harris some more plays off in 2022, but none of the team's depth players in the backfield were able to carve out much of a fantasy role last year. While Warren seems to be the preferred option over Snell heading into the regular season, both running backs will likely face an uphill battle to earn touches as long as Harris remains healthy.
Aug 30, 2022
Earns spot on 53-man roster
Warren is part of the Steelers' 53-man roster ahead of the 2022 season, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren made a strong impression with the Steelers during training camp and preseason play after joining the team as an undrafted free agent. The Oklahoma State product rushed 16 times for 48 yards while securing seven of eight targets for 54 yards and a touchdown during the preseason and ultimately beat out Anthony McFarland for a depth role in the Steelers' backfield. Najee Harris is cemented as Pittsburgh's clear lead back and saw plenty of work last season, but Warren has a legitimate shot to carve out a role as the team's No. 2 running back even though Benny Snell remains in the fold.
Aug 27, 2022
Making final push for roster spot
Warren is still in the mix for a spot on the 53-man roster ahead of the Steelers' preseason finale against the Lions on Sunday, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent during the offseason but has made a strong impact during training camp and the preseason. He's been the team's most productive running back over the first two preseason matchups, rushing nine times for 37 yards while securing seven of eight targets for 54 yards and a touchdown. In spite of his preseason results, he's still competing with Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland for depth roles in Pittsburgh's backfield.
Aug 22, 2022
Totals 27 yards from scrimmage
Warren rushed three times for three yards while securing all three of his targets for 24 yards during the Steelers' 16-15 preseason win over Jacksonville on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Benny Snell was in the Steelers' backfield for the first two drives of Saturday's matchup, but Warren was the second running back to take the field. The two backs split playing time during the first half, but Warren led the team's running backs in touches and was productive in the passing game in spite of his inefficiency on the ground. Warren has 16 touches through two preseason games and seems to be solidifying his case for a spot on the 53-man roster while making a push to serve as Pittsburgh's No. 2 running back.
Aug 18, 2022
Continuing to impress at practice
Warren recently earned reps with the first-team offense at practice while Najee Harris and Benny Snell were dealing with injuries, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren went undrafted this spring after spending three collegiate seasons between Utah State and Oklahoma State, and he's drawn continual praise from the Steelers' coaching staff during training camp. His work with the starters with Harris and Snell sidelined bodes well for his status over fellow running back Anthony McFarland, and Warren took reps ahead of Snell -- who has resumed practicing -- Thursday. Warren seems to have a chance to emerge as Pittsburgh's No. 2 running back as the preseason continues, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. Warren rushed six times for 34 yards while securing four of five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown during the Steelers' preseason win over the Seahawks, but he also fumbled on a 13-yard run. The ball was recovered by Pittsburgh, but the 23-year-old has placed an increased emphasis on ball security since then. Najee Harris doesn't expect to play Saturday against the Jaguars, so Warren should have the chance to earn meaningful work during the preseason tilt as
Aug 14, 2022
Records 10 touches against Seattle
Warren rushed six times for 34 yards while securing four of five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown during the Steelers' 32-25 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Although Anthony McFarland started Saturday's preseason opener, Warren led the team in touches and topped 60 yards from scrimmage while also reaching the end zone. Warren has generated plenty of buzz over the first few weeks of training camp and certainly appears to be in the competition for backfield work behind starter Najee Harris with just under a month remaining until the start of the regular season.
Aug 11, 2022
Continues to make impact at camp
Warren has made a continual impact over the first two and a half weeks of training camp, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Warren went undrafted during the 2022 NFL Draft, he's making a strong case for a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster during camp. He broke several tackles for a 70-yard touchdown during Thursday's practice session and should get increased looks if Benny Snell (knee) is forced to miss any time beyond Thursday. Warren will still need to prove himself during preseason games, but the Oklahoma State product appears to be firmly in the mix for a role as depth at running back.
Aug 10, 2022
Making case for roster spot
Warren is making a case for a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster early in training camp, Bob Labriola of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent at the beginning of May but has had a strong start to camp. He had the longest rush of the day during Tuesday's live tackling period, breaking several tackles en route to a 15-yard gain. Benny Snell seems to be the likeliest option to serve as the No. 2 running back behind starter Najee Harris, but Warren should have a chance to compete with Anthony McFarland, Mataeo Durant and Master Teague for one of the final spots on Pittsburgh's roster ahead of the regular season.
May 1, 2022
Signs with Pittsburgh
Warren signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Warren had 256 carries for 1,216 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season at Oklahoma State. He figures to compete with fellow UDFA running back Mataeo Durant during training camp.
