Wright had, in recent weeks, appeared to usurp the No. 2 backfield role from Raheem Mostert, but the Dolphins opted to trust the veteran running back over the rookie fourth-round pick during Thursday's cold weather tilt. The No. 2 role could be up for grabs once again heading into a Week 14 home game against the Jets, but even if fantasy managers had clarity on whether Wright or Mostert would hold a monopoly on those reps, De'Von Achane remains the only reliable fantasy option in Miami's backfield.

Wright handled just five carries for the second-straight week, however, his one reception was his first of the season. The rookie running back has continued to disappoint on the ground. Since the Dolphins' Week 6 bye, Wright has recorded just 23 carries for 76 yards. Meanwhile, De'Von Achane has impressed in his starting role as Miami's most efficient back on the ground and in the passing game. Wright's limited opportunities make him very difficult to trust for fantasy purposes, and would need injuries to Achane or Raheem Mostert to gain more relevance for fantasy. The Dolphins will host the Patriots in Week 12.

Wright has now totaled just 21 yards on 11 carries (1.9 YPC) in his last two appearances, a disappointing development after he averaged 5.3 YPC in his first six career appearances. He did, however, work as the No. 2 backfield option behind De'Veon Achane versus Los Angeles, while veteran Raheem Mostert was held without a rushing attempt but secured two of three targets while playing on third downs. Achane remains the Dolphins' clear lead option, but Wright and Mostert now appear to have firmly split leftover rushing and receiving duties. Wright will work to impress more with his opportunities Week 11 versus the Raiders.

Wright continues to handle a depth role in the Dolphins' backfield behind De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert, both of whom were more effective versus the Bills. Achane has emerges as Miami's most dangerous offensive weapon in recent weeks, and he scored twice and surpassed 100 scrimmage yards versus Buffalo. Mostert, meanwhile, has been mostly useful in a No. 2 role, though he did lose a fumble Week 9. Wright will next work to impress in limited opportunities versus the Rams on Monday Night Football.

Wright continues to look explosive in limited opportunities, but it's De'Von Achane (10 carries) and Raheem Mostert (nine carries) who are entrenched as the leaders of Miami's backfield. Without one of Achane or Mostert missing time, or the Dolphins seeing a positive game script the likes of which has evaded the team this season, Wright will remain in a depth role. Wright worked behind De'Von Achane (15 carries for 77 yards) and Raheem Mostert (11 carries for 50 yards) in the Dolphins' loss to Indianapolis, but his 6.6 YPC mark was the best of the group. The rookie fourth-round pick's explosiveness has been consistently impressive this season, but both Achane and Mostert have also been effective out of the backfield. Wright will need to continue impressing heading into a Week 8 matchup against Arizona if he wants to push for more opportunities in a backfield abundant with talent.

Wright ended up with the largest workload of his young career after De'Von Achane exited the game in the first half with a concussion. The rookie responded in fine fashion, recording a team-high rushing yardage total while averaging a stellar 6.6 yards per carry. Wright's explosiveness rivals that of Achane, but if the latter has cleared concussion protocol in time for a Week 7 road matchup against the Colts on Sunday, Oct. 20, Wright could be back to playing third fiddle behind Achane and Raheem Mostert.

Wright looked solid with his two touches, but the rookie fourth-round pick had his opportunities stymied due to poor overall offensive performance with Skylar Thompson (ribs) and Tim Boyle under center. The Dolphins offense will work to get back on track versus the Titans on Monday Night Football, though if Raheem Mostert (chest) is able to heal up enough to retake the field, he and De'Von Achane will stand to dominate backfield opportunities.

Wright, who was a healthy inactive Week 1, seems likely to suit up for Thursday's matchup with the Bills due to Raheem Mostert (chest) being ruled out and De'Von Achane (ankle) being a game-time decision, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports.

Wright, a rookie fourth-round pick, boasts explosiveness but not experience over 28-year-old veteran Jeff Wilson, but both players will stand to see expanded opportunities Thursday with Mostert ruled out. Depending on Achane's status for Week 2, it could even fall to Wright and Wilson to handle the entirety of Miami's backfield workload, in which case the team might have no choice other than to ride the hot hand. Wright impressed in the preseason and boasts 4.38-second 40-yard dash speed, making him a big-play candidate even on limited touches.

Wright (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Though the Dolphins invested a fourth-round pick into him during April's draft and he impressed out of the backfield in Miami's preseason finale, Wright will have to wait at least another week to make his NFL debut. With starter Raheem Mostert and change-of-pace dynamo De'Von Achane both entering the season healthy, the Dolphins won't have much of a role on offense available for Wright. The Tennessee product also didn't lock down a special-teams role coming out of the preseason, so Jeff Wilson will dress ahead of Wright as the Dolphins' No. 3 back.

Wright (undisclosed) rushed seven times for 36 yards and caught four of six targets for 41 yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers.

Wright was held out of the previous preseason game against the Commanders due to an undisclosed injury, but the rookie fourth-round pick's sizable workload Friday suggests he's back to full health. He's the latest speedster to join a Dolphins backfield led by Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, but Wright could struggle to earn playing time early in his career while those other two running backs are healthy. Wright will get a chance to make his NFL regular-season debut Sept. 8 against the Jaguars.

Wright was held out of Saturday's preseason contest against the Commanders due to an unspecified injury, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

It's not clear what injury Wright picked up during practice this week, but head coach Mike McDaniel didn't seem concerned about the severity in any facet. It seems likely the rookie running back will return to practice in short order and build upon what was an excellent preseason opener, in which the 2024 third-round pick ran for 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Wright isn't in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Washington, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Wright took 10 carries for 55 yards and a TD in Miami's preseason-opening win over the Falcons last Friday, breaking off a couple runs that allowed him to flash his impressive speed. With no injury reported, the Dolphins may just be holding the rookie out to get other players more snaps.

The rookie fourth-round pick came into the game following starter Jeff Wilson, taking his first carry with 11:10 remaining in the second quarter. Wright proceeded to quickly rack up 21 yards on those first three touches, then recorded a six-yard touchdown on his fourth rush attempt. The Tennessee product subsequently tallied a game-long rush of 14 yards, and his body of work was highly encouraging overall for a professional debut. Wright should be in for another solid workload in the Dolphins' second preseason game against the Commanders on Aug. 17 if Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane continue to be handled with caution for that contest.

Dolphins running backs coach Eric Studesville said Thursday that Wright has been "highly motivated to be really good" at training camp and is "working and positioning himself to do all those things," Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Studesville said Wright is still in the process of fully acclimating to Miami's offensive scheme, which includes an above average amount of motions and designed concepts, but that the rookie fourth-round pick has been "spending extra time doing things" at practice. Meanwhile, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site has continually mentioned Wright as a standout of training camp, singling out his speed and physicality. The former Tennessee standout seems an ideal fit for coach Mike McDaniel's scheme, though it's hard to picture him receiving many rushing opportunities unless at least one of Raheem Mostert or De'Von Achane end up missing time.
