Progressing to 11-on-11 next week
Burrow (toe) will advance to taking part in 11-on-11 practices in Week 12 with the aim of eventually returning to action for the Bengals' Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Ravens on Nov. 27, Jay Glazer reported on "Fox NFL Sunday."
ANALYSIS
The Bengals had extra reps available for Burrow upon his return to practice in Week 11, as incumbent starter Joe Flacco has been managing a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. Though Burrow is aiming to return to action Week 13, his availability for that Thanksgiving game could hinge on whether the Bengals have any playoff life at that point in the schedule. The 3-6 Bengals are playing in Pittsburgh against the division-leading Steelers on Sunday, then host the Patriots in Week 12.

Practicing Wednesday
Burrow (toe) is participating in the early portion of Wednesday's un-padded practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow threw passes in sweatpants and a helmet, two days after the Bengals designated him for a return from injured reserve. The team said he'll practice in a limited capacity, with Burrow noting that he'd like to return for a Thanksgiving Day game at Baltimore on Nov. 27.

Hoping for Thanksgiving return?
Burrow (toe), who has been designated to return from IR, won't play Sunday against the Steelers, but Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the QB acknowledged Monday that it would be meaningful if he could return to action for the Bengals' Thanksgiving Day game against the Ravens on Nov. 27.
ANALYSIS
"We'll see how these next couple weeks go," Burrow -- who suffered a turf toe injury in Week 2 that required surgery -- said Monday. "There's a lot that goes into it. There's a lot of variables that you have to consider." One of those variables figures to be the Bengals' record as he progresses toward a return. In any case, it looks like veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco --- who is managing a shoulder issue -- will draw at least two more starts for 3-6 Cincinnati, while Burrow works his way back. In his return to practice Monday in a limited capacity, Burrow didn't participate in any 11-on-11 team drills, but did throw some passes to receivers while not facing any defenders.

Practice window opens
The Bengals announced Monday that Burrow (toe) has been designated for a return from IR and will practice in a limited capacity.
ANALYSIS
Burrow now kicks off a 21-day window wherein his can practice without counting against the 53-man roster, allowing him to begin ramping up his activity level with the target of making a return to the lineup in December. The franchise quarterback is recovering from surgery undergone Sept. 21 to address a Grade 3 turf toe injury. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network have confirmed that December remains the Bengals' tentative target for Burrow to retake the field, but it's encouraging to see him already ready to handle limited practice reps. Joe Flacco will continue operating as Cincinnati's starting quarterback until such time as Burrow gains full clearance, including Sunday on the road against Pittsburgh.
Sep 21, 2025
Could return later this season
Burrow, who underwent surgery Friday to address a Grade 3 turf toe injury, is facing a three-month absence, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While coach Zac Taylor declined to provide a timeline for Burrow's recovery, a previous report by Ben Baby of ESPN aligns with Rapoport's estimate that the QB will miss a minimum of three months. With that timetable in mind, Burrow could potentially return later this season, but in the meantime Jake Browning will serve as the Bengals' No. 1 signal-caller.
Sep 19, 2025
Undergoes toe procedure Friday
Coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Burrow underwent toe surgery Friday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Baby, Taylor noted that the procedure to address the QB's Grade 3 turf toe injury went well, but at this stage the Bengals don't have a timeline for Burrow's return. Previous reports have suggested that Burrow's recovery period is expected to be in the three month range, an estimate that leaves the door open for a possible late-season return for Cincinnati's franchise signal caller. In his absence, Jake Browning will fill in as Cincinnati's starting QB, with Brett Rypien set to serve as his backup and Mike White and Sean Clifford currently on the team's practice squad.
Sep 18, 2025
Set to undergo toe surgery soon
Burrow is on track undergo a procedure Friday to repair his Grade 3 turf toe, provided that swelling isn't an issue, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rapoport notes that it's possible that the procedure could get pushed back a few days, but once the surgery happens, the QB will face an estimated three-month recovery. That's a timetable that could allow for a late-season return for Burrow, but for the time being Jake Browning will fill in as Cincinnati's top signal caller, with Brett Rypien set to serve as his backup, while Mike White and Sean Clifford are currently on the team's practice squad.
Sep 17, 2025
Could return late in season?
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that he hasn't shut the door on Burrow (toe) returning this season, ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports.
ANALYSIS
Multiple reports have suggested a recovery timeline of around three months once Burrow undergoes surgery to address his toe injury. If accurate, that would make him unlikely to play until the very end of the regular season, if at all. Taylor, however, said he's only ruling Burrow out for the next four weeks -- the required minimum for the QB's stint on injured reserve. Jake Browning will take over as Cincinnati's starting QB in the meantime.
Sep 16, 2025
Officially moved to IR
The Bengals placed Burrow (toe) on injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's move to IR was fully expected after Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Monday that the quarterback would require surgery to address a turf toe injury, per Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. The Bengals have yet to settle on a date for Burrow's surgery, but once the procedure is performed, the 28-year-old is expected to face a recovery timeline of a minimum of three months. With Burrow on track to remain out until around at least mid-December, the Bengals will turn the offense over to backup Jake Browning beginning with Sunday's game in Minnesota. The Bengals signed Brett Rypien off their practice squad Tuesday to step in as Browning's understudy.
Sep 15, 2025
Set for surgery
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Monday that Burrow (toe) will require surgery, though he declined to provide details on an expected recovery timeline for the star quarterback, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow reportedly suffered a turf toe injury during Sunday's win over the Jaguars and is facing a minimum recovery timetable of three months, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, which could allow him to return mid-December. The team hasn't yet confirmed either the severity of Burrow's injury or the possibility of him potentially returning this season, per Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News. Jake Browning will take over under center as long as Burrow is sidelined, priming him to start on the road against Minnesota on Sunday, and the Bengals seem strong candidates to pursue additional depth at the quarterback position.
Sep 15, 2025
Needs toe surgery, per report
Burrow will reportedly need toe surgery, which would sideline him for a minimum of three months, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
We'll await confirmation from the Bengals, but it looks like Burrow will miss extended time, which sets the stage for Jake Browning to handle the team's QB duties in the coming weeks. Brett Rypien is currently on Cincinnati's practice squad, but it's also possible that signal-caller depth is added in the wake of Burrow's injury, per Schefter.
Sep 14, 2025
Could face three-month absence
Burrow is feared to have suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury, which would require surgery and a recovery period of at least three months, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network report.
ANALYSIS
Burrow exited Sunday's 31-27 win over the Jaguars in the second quarter due to the injury. The star quarterback is still evaluating his options, per Rapoport, but Burrow is likely to face a multi-week absence even if he finds a non-surgical treatment option. Jake Browning produced three total touchdowns after Burrow's injury and would be in line to take over as Cincinnati's starter in Burrow's absence. Browning went 4-3 when Burrow missed the final seven games of the 2023 season due to a torn ligament in his wrist.
Sep 14, 2025
May have turf toe
Burrow is believed to have suffered a turf toe injury during Sunday's 31-27 win against the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
When Burrow took his second sack of the game in the second quarter, he remained on the turf while grabbing at his left foot and needed assistance from trainers to leave the field. He eventually was ruled out, ceding QB duties to backup Jake Browning, who ended up completing 21 of 32 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while scoring a rushing TD from one yard out. Afterward, coach Zac Taylor told Ben Baby of ESPN.com that he didn't have the necessary information to provide an update on Burrow's health, but he eventually was seen with a walking boot on his left foot and using one crutch in the locker room, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. If a diagnosis of turf toe is confirmed, Burrow likely would be in line for a handful of absences, starting with next Sunday's contest at Minnesota.
Sep 14, 2025
Seen with walking boot after game
Burrow, who injured his toe during Sunday's 31-27 win over the Jaguars, was seen afterward with a walking boot on his left foot and using crutches as he exited the Bengals' locker room, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While coach coach Zac Taylor didn't provide an immediate update on Burrow, given that the QB was unable to return after his second-quarter exit, coupled with the description of how he was getting around after the game, his Week 3 status is cloudy. If Burrow ends up missing next Sunday's game against the Vikings, or time beyond that, Jake Browning -- who threw for 241 yards with two TDs and three picks versus the Jaguars -- would be in line to start in his place.
Sep 14, 2025
Won't return to Sunday's game
Burrow (toe) won't return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Per Ben Baby of ESPN, Burrow sustained his toe injury when he was sacked with 8:36 left in the second quarter of Sunday's contest. The QB, who walked off the field with the assistance of trainers, subsequently underwent an MRI, per Joe Danneman of FOX19, before being ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game. Burrow's status will now need to be closely monitored ahead of next weekend's tilt against the Vikings, with Jake Browning next in line for the Bengals QB snaps and Brett Rypien currently a member of the team's practice squad.
Sep 14, 2025
Injures toe Sunday
Burrow was forced out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a left toe injury.
ANALYSIS
Following his exit from the contest, Jake Browning took over at QB for the Bengals. The Bengals subsequently announced that Burrow's return to the game is questionable.
Sep 14, 2025
Exits Sunday's game
Burrow headed to the locker room during Sunday's game against the Jaguars after sustaining an unspecified injury, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Burrow -- who walked off the field with the assistance of trainers -- completed seven of his 13 pass attempts for 76 yards and a TD. In his absence, Jake Browning is in at QB for the Bengals.
Sep 7, 2025
Only 113 yards against Browns
Burrow completed 14 of 23 passes for 113 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and the Bengals had the ball for only 24:11 and ran just 49 offensive plays. On top of the limited volume, Burrow managed only 4.96 yards per attempt, with his longest completion going for just 20 yards. He did manage to throw a one-yard touchdown to Noah Fant in an otherwise disappointing performance. Burrow should be in for a bounceback showing in Week 2 against Jacksonville.
Aug 20, 2025
Sitting out preseason finale
Burrow and other starters aren't scheduled to play in Saturday's preseason game against Indianapolis, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow played in the first two preseason game, leading Cincinnati's offense to four touchdowns (including three TD passes) on five drives. He'll play at Cleveland in Week 1, mostly surrounded by the same supporting cast as last season, plus TE Noah Fant and two new guards (Dylan Fairchild, Lucas Patrick) that are competing for starting jobs. The Bengals appear shootout-prone again, with minimal offseason upgrades on defense and now star DE Trey Hendrickson (contract) missing all of training camp.
Aug 18, 2025
Leads two TD drives
Burrow completed nine of 14 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 31-17 preseason win over Washington, leading the Bengals to 14 points on three drives.
ANALYSIS
Burrow curiously continued playing (and took a couple of extra hits) after Ja'Marr Chase, Chase Brown and other starters had been removed. The Bengals have scored touchdowns on four of Burrow's five drives this preseason, looking ready for a Week 1 AFC North clash at Cleveland.
Aug 16, 2025
In line for 2-3 drives again
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Saturday he plans for Burrow and the starters to play a similar amount of snaps during Monday's preseason game against the Commanders as they did during last week's exhibition opener against Philadelphia, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and company played two drives during Cincinnati's preseason opener against the Eagles, both of which the star quarterback punched in, completing nine of 10 pass attempts for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He'll get another chance to log exhibition reps alongside star wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on Monday, though with Mike Gesicki (hamstring) still not practicing, recent signee Noah Fant could get the chance to start at tight end. Taylor appears to be following through on his stated intention to allot the Bengals' starters more preseason snaps than ever before, so Burrow could see increased action during the team's preseason finale on Saturday, Aug. 23 against Indianapolis.
Aug 7, 2025
Throws two TDs on two drives
Burrow completed nine of 10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's preseason game at Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
He misfired to Tee Higgins on his first pass attempt but then completed nine in a row to put up 14 points on two drives against an Eagles defense that was mostly using backups. Ja'Marr Chase caught each of his four targets for 77 yards and a touchdown, with another would-be TD wiped out by a blocking penalty. Burrow and other starters may play again in the next exhibition, Aug. 18 against Washington, with Bengals coach Zac Taylor having said two weeks ago that he wants to give his starters more preseason snaps than he ever has before.
Aug 5, 2025
Scheduled for 2-3 drives Thursday
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Tuesday that Burrow and other starters will play a couple of drives in Thursday's preseason game against Philadelphia, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor mentioned to weeks ago that he planned to play his starters in the preseason more than he ever had before. TE Mike Gesicki (undisclosed) and a few others may not be available, but it sounds like Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the other standouts are scheduled to play two or three drives Thursday evening.
Jul 23, 2025
Added preseason reps expected
Head coach Zac Taylor noted Wednesday that he anticipates playing Burrow more in preseason games "than we ever have" as the Bengals prepare for the 2025 regular season, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With that in mind, Burrow's next chance to see game action will occur Aug. 7, when the Bengals face the Eagles in the first of their three scheduled exhibition contests. On the heels of a 2024 campaign in which he logged 4,918 passing yards and a 43:9 TD:INT ratio in 17 regular-season tilts, Burrow should benefit from the fact that pass-catching mainstays Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Mike Gesicki all inked multi-year extensions with Cincinnati this offseason.
May 22, 2025
Enjoying healthy offseason
Burrow said "I feel great" at practice Wednesday and that "this is the best I've felt in the offseason" after playing with a ligament injury in his right wrist throughout the 2024 campaign, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This time last offseason, Burrow was recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist and working to be cleared for full contact. That wrist most noticeably hampered him early in 2024, but even by Cincinnati's regular-season finale Burrow was still listed on the injury report due to both wrist and knee issues. "Just like with any ligament injury, it's going to take a while to come back," Burrow said, but he acknowledged that "it's better this time of the year than it was last time at the same time." Despite battling those lingering injuries, Burrow managed a resurgent 2024 season to the tune of a 71 percent completion rate (460 of 652 attempts), 4,918 passing yards and a 43:9 TD:INT ratio -- career-high marks across the board. In addition to his physical wellness, Burrow will have the benefit of an offseason without any of his major playmakers on offense holding out. With all of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and TE Mike Gesicki having been inked to multi-year extensions, the Bengals' offense

Wins Comeback Player of the Year
Burrow was named the 2024 NFL Comeback Player of the Year on Thursday, Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had a resurgent 2024 campaign after missing seven games in 2023 due to a wrist injury. This season, the quarterback completed 71 percent of his passes for an NFL-high 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, while throwing nine interceptions over 17 regular-season games. Burrow also added 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Jan 4, 2025
Grinds out critical victory
Burrow completed 37 of 46 passes for 277 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed once for minus-1 yard in the Bengals' 19-17 win over the Steelers on Saturday night. He also fumbled once but possession remained with Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Burrow fought through a typical AFC North slugfest against the aggressive Steelers defense, which sacked him four times. One of those takedowns in the third quarter caused Burrow's helmet to be driven into the ground and led to a concussion check, but the star signal-caller did not miss any time. Burrow connected with eight different pass catchers overall on the night, and although he saw an eight-game streak of multiple touchdown passes snapped, he kept the Bengals' slim playoff hopes, which now hinge on a loss by the Broncos and a loss or tie by the Dolphins on Sunday, alive. Burrow finishes the 2024 regular season with a career-high 4,918 passing yards and 43 passing touchdowns across 17 games.
Jan 2, 2025
Cleared to play Saturday
Burrow (wrist/knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Saturday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was listed as a limited participant in both of the Bengals' first two Week 18 practices due to the pair of injuries, but he erased any lingering concern about his availability for Saturday by turning in a full session Thursday. His practice participation was inhibited by the same two injuries in each of the previous three weeks, but Burrow's production wasn't affected at all, as he tossed nine touchdowns against two interceptions while adding another score on the ground and averaging 311.7 passing yards per contest during that stretch. Fantasy managers in leagues that are still active in Week 18 can feel fully comfortable with keeping Burrow in lineups.
Jan 1, 2025
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Burrow (right wrist/knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was listed as a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through, and with a limited session Wednesday in the books, the QB will have one more chance to practice fully ahead of Saturday night's game against the Steelers. Given that the 8-8 Bengals remain in playoff contention, there's little reason to believe that Burrow is in any danger of being sidelined in Week 18.
Dec 31, 2024
Limited to begin Week 18 prep
Burrow (wrist/knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through session, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For the fourth week in a row, Burrow is appearing on Cincinnati's injury report with both right wrist and knee issues next to his name, but neither injury is expected to keep him from playing in Saturday's game in Pittsburgh. In the Bengals' previous matchup with the Steelers back in Week 13, Burrow completed 28 of 38 pass attempts for 309 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while carrying twice for nine yards and losing two fumbles in a 44-38 loss.
Dec 28, 2024
Keeps playoff hopes alive
Burrow completed 39 of 49 passes for 412 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in Saturday's 30-24 overtime win against the Broncos. He added four rushes for 25 yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had no trouble moving the Bengals' offense at any point in the game, though it took some time for the unit to find the end zone. He ultimately accounted for all four of Cincinnati's touchdowns, with passing scores of two, 12 and three yards as well as a one-yard sneak late in the fourth quarter. Burrow now has at least three passing touchdowns in eight straight games and he's topped 350 passing yards four times in that span. With the thrilling overtime win, Cincinnati's playoff hopes remain alive as Burrow leads the team into a Week 18 showdown with the Steelers.
Dec 26, 2024
Cleared to play in Week 17
Burrow (wrist/knee) doesn't have a designation for Saturday's home game against the Broncos, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was a limited participant in practice throughout the week due to a pair of injuries, but as expected, neither health concern will keep him from playing Saturday. If the Bengals' longshot bid for the postseason comes to an end in the aftermath of Week 17 action, Burrow could be a candidate to rest in Week 18, but fantasy managers can feel comfortable including the quarterback in their fantasy lineups, even in a matchup versus a tough Denver defense. Burrow has thrown for at least three touchdowns in seven straight games and is averaging 319.4 passing yards per contest during that stretch.
Dec 25, 2024
Remains listed as limited
Burrow (wrist/knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow has logged five straight limited listings, but if he follows last week's practice pattern, he'll maintain that level of activity Thursday and approach Saturday's game against the Broncos without an injury designation. Wideout Tee Higgins (ankle/knee) has also been limited this week, but could be cleared for Week 17 action along with Burrow on Thursday.
Dec 24, 2024
Limited to kick off Week 17 prep
Burrow (wrist/knee) was a limited participant in practice Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was limited in practices throughout last week with the same pair of injuries, but he avoided taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Browns and completed 23 of 30 pass attempts for 252 yards and three touchdowns in Cincinnati's 24-6 win. He's operating with a cap on his reps once again to kick off Week 17 prep, but his availability for Saturday's tilt with the Broncos doesn't appear to be in any peril.
Dec 22, 2024
Throws three TDs in win
Burrow completed 23 of 30 passes for 252 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bengals' 24-6 win over the Browns on Sunday. He also rushed twice for 19 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Burrow put together another one of his signature crisp passing performances, with the only true blemish on his day the fumble he committed on a sack at the Browns' 15-yard line with just over four and a half minutes remaining. Otherwise, Burrow was busy dissecting Cleveland's secondary on his way to his record seventh straight game with at least 250 passing yards and three touchdowns. The 2020 first overall pick hit Tee Higgins (two yards), Andrei Iosivas (six yards) and Ja'Marr Chase (32 yards) for his trio of scores Sunday, and he'll look to replicate the strong numbers versus a talented Broncos secondary at home in a Saturday afternoon Week 17 matchup.
Dec 20, 2024
Cleared for Week 16
Burrow (right wrist/knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Though Burrow was limited at practice this week, head coach Zac Taylor relayed that the QB's continued limitations Friday were precautionary, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer notes. Meanwhile, wideout Tee Higgins (knee) -- whose practice reps were also managed this week -- is cleared for Week 16 action as well, with Taylor having noted Friday that there is no concern about the duo's workload versus Cleveland, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. Burrow heads into the weekend leading the NFL in both passing yards (3,977) and passing TDs (36).
Dec 19, 2024
Another limited practice
Burrow (right wrist/knee) remained limited at practice Thursday, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who was also limited Wednesday, logged limited sessions last Wednesday and Thursday before practicing fully Friday and heading into Week 15 action without an injury designation. With no reported setbacks, it wouldn't surprise us to see that pattern followed ahead of this Sunday's game against the Browns.
Dec 18, 2024
Listed as limited
Burrow (wrist/knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was listed the same way last week, nursing a sore knee and still requiring some management/monitoring for his surgically repaired wrist. He ended up throwing for 271 yards and three TDs in a 37-27 win over the Titans on Sunday, albeit with three turnovers (two INTs, one lost fumble). Burrow should be fine to play again this Sunday against the Browns.
Dec 15, 2024
Three TDs, three turnovers in win
Burrow completed 26 of 37 passes for 271 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 37-27 win over the Titans. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's second pass of the game was picked off, but he bounced back with a six-yard touchdown pass to Chase Brown on Cincinnati's second drive. The star quarterback turned it over again on the following possession by losing a red-zone fumble before responding with another game-tying touchdown pass, this time to defensive end Sam Hubbard from two yards out. Burrow finally gave the Bengals their first lead with his third touchdown pass of the first half, finding Tee Higgins for a 38-yard score. Cincinnati ran only six offensive plays in the third quarter, the last of which was Burrow's second interception and third turnover of the afternoon. The Bengals forced six turnovers themselves, so the offense continued to throttle down in the fourth, which kept Burrow 29 yards short of a fifth consecutive 300-yard performance. Burrow will look to add to his league-leading 36 touchdown passes in Week 16 against a Browns defense that held him to 181 passing yards back in Week 7.
Dec 13, 2024
Set to play Sunday
Burrow (right wrist/knee) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
On Wednesday, coach Zac Taylor said Burrow was dealing with a sore knee, but the issue wouldn't hold him out of any practices, per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer. Burrow logged limited sessions Thursday and Friday before capping Week 15 prep with full participation Friday, paving the way for him to continue to lead the Bengals offense. He'll be taking on a Titans defense Sunday that has allowed the third-fewest YPA (6.57) to opposing quarterbacks this season.
Dec 12, 2024
Another limited practice
Burrow (right wrist/knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was also limited Wednesday, as he tends to a right wrist issue as well as some knee soreness. However, at this stage his status for Sunday's game against the Titans doesn't appear to be in any danger, though the QB will probably have to log a full practice listing Friday in order to head into the weekend without an injury designation.
Dec 11, 2024
Expected to practice this week
Burrow (knee/wrist) was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's walk-through practice, with coach Zac Taylor saying beforehand that a sore knee won't stop the QB from practicing this week, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
In other words, Burrow is in no danger of missing Sunday's game at Tennessee but may have his practice reps scaled back a bit this week. While the Bengals need something close to a miracle to reach the playoffs, Burrow is on track for career highs in a slew of passing categories, leading the NFL in completions, attempts, yards and touchdowns.
Dec 9, 2024
Three TD strikes Monday
Burrow completed 33 of 44 pass attempts for 369 yards, three touchdowns and one interception with a pair of kneel downs for a loss of two yards in Monday's 27-20 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was spectacular in front of a national audience Monday, but he actually came out victorious after dropping the Bengals last three games with similar performances. The soon-to-be 28-year-old only faltered on an errant pass to Ja'Marr Chase in the second half that was picked off by a Cowboys' defender. Burrow now carries gaudy season totals of 3,706 passing yards to go along with 33 touchdowns (six picks) through 13 games. The fantasy stud gets a soft matchup against the Titans on Sunday for what will likely be an important playoff matchup for his managers.
Dec 1, 2024
Another excellent stat line
Burrow completed 28 of 38 passes for 309 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 44-38 loss to the Steelers. He added two rushes for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow led another comeback effort that fell short, this time throwing a pair of touchdowns from one and three yards away in the game's final eight minutes. He also completed four passes of at least 20 yards, all of which came in the game's final two quarters. While the effort marked his third straight game with more than 300 yards and fourth straight contest with at least three passing scores, Burrow did make a few critical errors by losing a pair of fumbles and throwing a pick-- the worst of which came on a lost fumble that was returned for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
Nov 18, 2024
Heroic comeback effort falls short
Burrow completed 28 of 50 pass attempts for 356 yards and three touchdowns while rushing twice for 28 yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Cincinnati entered halftime down 24-6 with three punts and two short field goals over the team's first five offensive drives Sunday. Burrow remained unfazed and put the team on his shoulders in the second half, leading three consecutive touchdown drives to even the score at 27. In true 2024 Bengals' fashion, the team's next two drives resulted in a pair of missed field goals by kicker Evan McPherson, allowing the Chargers to answer with a late touchdown for the win. Burrow continues to thrive in fantasy despite constantly playing from behind this season. The stud quarterback will get a week of rest as the Bengals enter a bye week before taking on another top-10 defense in Week 13 against the Steelers on Dec. 1.
Nov 8, 2024
Stellar numbers in loss
Burrow completed 34 of 56 passes for 428 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bengals' 35-34 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night. He also rushed twice for six yards and committed two fumbles but lost neither.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of a five-touchdown day against the Raiders in Week 9, Burrow nearly matched his stellar output Thursday while also recording a new season high in passing yards. The 2020 first overall pick connected with Tanner Hudson (three yards) and Ja'Marr Chase (67, 70 and five yards) for his quartet of scoring tosses, with the third to Chase leaving the Bengals just a point shy of tying the Ravens at 35-35 with only 38 seconds remaining. Head coach Zac Taylor opted to forgo a game-tying PAT and instead go for two points, but Burrow couldn't connect with Hudson on a play where Mike Gesicki also appeared to have potentially been impeded on his route. Cincinnati fell to 4-6 with the narrow defeat, but Burrow has been one of the most prolific quarterbacks for fantasy purposes due in large part to his team's shoddy defense, a pattern that could persist in a Week 11 visit to the Chargers on Sunday night, Nov. 17.

Explodes for five-TD day Sunday
Burrow completed 27 of 39 passes for 251 yards with five touchdowns and one interception while adding three rushes for 11 yards in the Bengals' 41-24 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had a relatively quiet first half that included just one of his co-season-high five touchdown passes, a 10-yard scoring toss to Andrei Iosivas late in the second quarter. However, the 2020 first-round pick would heat up in the second half, connecting with tight ends Drew Sample (two yards) and Mike Gesicki (11 yards) in the third quarter before hitting Gesicki again for a 47-yard catch and run with just under six minutes remaining. The five-TD output matched Burrow's Week 5 tally against the Ravens, and his yardage total was his fourth over 250 yards this season. Burrow and the Bengals face off with Baltimore again Thursday night in a key Week 10 divisional road clash.
Oct 27, 2024
Unremarkable numbers in loss
Burrow completed 26 of 37 passes for 234 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed three times for 15 yards in the Bengals' 37-17 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's day started off encouragingly enough with a two-yard touchdown toss to Ja'Marr Chase to cap off a 17-play march, but he wouldn't helm another drive that culminated in the end zone until well into the third quarter. With Tee Higgins (quadriceps) sidelined, Burrow targeted eight different players overall and connected with seven of them, but Mike Gesicki led Cincinnati's pass catchers with a modest 73 yards. Burrow also short-circuited a drive in Eagles territory with an interception on a deep pass to Chase early in the fourth quarter, his first pick since Week 5. With his team once again in a hole at 3-5, Burrow will next takes aim at the vulnerable Raiders secondary in a Week 9 home matchup.
Oct 20, 2024
Solid second-half effort
Burrow completed 15 of 25 passes for 181 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 21-14 win over Cleveland. He added three rushes for -3 yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and the Bengals' offense had nothing going in the first half, as he managed only 81 yards on 15 attempts while being sacked six three times. While still far from prolific, he did manage a better second half, which was highlighted by touchdown throws of 18 and 25 yards to record his fifth multi-score performance in seven games this season. It is worth noting that Burrow has just 28 and 25 attempts in his last two matchups while playing from ahead, an indication that his production may be heavily dictated by game script moving forward.
Oct 13, 2024
Makes difference as rusher
Burrow completed 19 of 28 pass attempts for 208 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 17-7 win over the Giants. He added four rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Burrow got off to a hot start in an unconventional way, as he scrambled for a 47-yard touchdown on the Bengals' opening drive. The story wasn't as impressive a passer, as Burrow was consistently under pressure and struggled to sustain long drives. Entering the contest, he had multiple touchdowns in four straight games while topping 300 passing yards twice in his last three matchups, so there's no reason to panic over the lackluster showing Sunday night.
Oct 6, 2024
Huge performance not enough Sunday
Burrow completed 30 of 39 passes for 392 yards and five touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens. He added one rushing yard on two carries.
ANALYSIS
The five TDs were a career high for Burrow, and most of his production went to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, who combined for a massive 19-276-4 line on 26 targets. Burrow has a dazzling 12:2 TD:INT over the last four games as the Bengals' offense has ramped back up to its peak form, but the team has only one win in that stretch to show for it. He'll try once again to out-chuck his atrocious defense in Week 6 against the Giants.
Sep 29, 2024
Efficient in first victory of 2024
Burrow completed 22 of 31 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Panthers. He added one rush for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow led the Bengals to three touchdown drives in the first half, two of which he concluded with passing scores. The highlight came on a 63-yard touchdown to Ja'Marr Chase, who picked up the majority of his yardage after the catch. Burrow attempted only 12 passes in the second half due to game script, which ultimately limited his numbers. However, he now has multiple scores in each of his past three games and has topped 250 yards on two occasions in that span. Things will get trickier for him in a Week 5 divisional showdown with the Ravens.
Sep 23, 2024
Throws for three TDs on MNF
Burrow completed 29 of 38 pass attempts for 324 yards and three touchdowns (no turnovers) in Monday's 38-33 loss to the Commanders. He also added four rushing yards on one attempt.
ANALYSIS
Burrow put together his best fantasy performance through three weeks, missing just nine passes in a high-scoring affair. Despite taking his third loss of the season, the Bengals' signal-caller likely earned some late-matchup victories for fantasy managers following Monday's gaudy stat line. Burrow is not far removed from back-to-back seasons with 4,475+ passing yards and 34+ touchdowns in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Perhaps this is the game that spurs an underperforming Cincinnati offense heading into a road tilt against the Panthers on Sunday.
Sep 15, 2024
Loses nail-biter to rival QB
Burrow (wrist) completed 23 of 36 passing attempts for 258 yards and two touchdowns while adding nine rushing yards on six attempts in Sunday's 26-25 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Burrow also committed a pivotal turnover when he was strip-sacked for a touchdown in the opening moments of the fourth quarter in a narrow loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The LSU product saw a marked improvement in his fantasy score following a Week 1 dud against the Patriots. Burrow wasn't his sharpest from the pocket, watching his completion percentage regress to 67.7 following Sunday's loss. Cincinnati's franchise QB didn't visibly appear to be limited by his surgically-repaired wrist, downplaying any concerns raised on social media earlier this week. Despite taking the loss, Burrow's stock is trending upwards following a solid performance against a difficult opponent as the Bengals prepare to face the Commanders next Monday.
Sep 11, 2024
Downplays concerns about wrist
Burrow said Wednesday that his surgically repaired wrist isn't impacting his ability to throw downfield, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow downplayed any discussion of a problem after videos of him flexing his right wrist on the sideline made the rounds on social media after a Week 1 loss to the Patriots. He said he flexes his wrist "all the time", including at home, in order to keep the "joint loose" because "that's part of ligament injuries," Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. While this likely will remain a topic of discussion if the Bengals offense continues struggling, Burrow is listed as a full participant on Wednesday's injury report ahead of a Week 2 game at Kansas City. Wideout Tee Higgins, on the other hand, missed another practice Wednesday with the hamstring injury that kept him out Week 1.
Sep 8, 2024
Quiet showing in Week 1 loss
Burrow completed 21 of 29 passes for 164 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed four times for 15 yards in the Bengals' 16-10 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's outlook coming into the afternoon had some uncertainty attached, considering the absence of Tee Higgins (hamstring) and Ja'Marr Chase's ability to play a full complement of snaps due to an illness and his very sparse practice time over the last month-plus. The connection between the quarterback and his top target proved to be in solid shape -- Chase was on the receiving end of six of Burrow's completions and 62 of his yards -- but the talented signal-caller clearly missed the speed and downfield threat typically offered by Higgins. Burrow took three sacks and averaged just 5.7 yards per attempt, a testament to a Patriots defense that clearly didn't seemed bothered by the team's underdog status. He'll hope to have Higgins back and will need to take his game up several notches Week 2, as Cincinnati heads into Kansas City to take on the defending champion Chiefs next Sunday.
Sep 4, 2024
No limitations in practice
Burrow (wrist) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, given that Burrow long ago completed his rehab from last year's wrist surgery and even made an appearance in the preseason. Ja'Marr Chase's return to practice is much bigger news, with the Bengals listing him as a limited participant due to 'rest' after a prolonged run of absences attributed to contract negotiations. There hasn't been confirmation Chase will play this Sunday against the Patriots, but it seems more likely than not.
Aug 22, 2024
Not in line to play Thursday
The Bengals plan to rest starters -- a group that includes Burrow -- in Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts, Michael Hull of the team's official site and Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirerreport.
ANALYSIS
With the team having just concluded joint practices with the Colts, the Bengals are inclined to rest key players in their exhibition finale. Burrow's next start is thus slated for Sept. 8 against the Patriots, with the biggest looming question -- in terms of Cincinnati's offense -- ahead of that contest being the status of top wideout Ja'Marr Chase, whose contract situation remains unresolved.
Aug 17, 2024
Unlikely to play Saturday
Burrow and Jake Browning (ribs) aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Chicago, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Logan Woodside is left as the top QB and figures to get a lot of playing time, with undrafted rookie Rocky Lombardi then likely to finish out the game. Burrow played one drive in the preseason opener and capped it off with a TD pass to Tee Higgins.
Aug 10, 2024
Plays on first possession Saturday
Burrow completed five of seven passes for 51 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Bengals' 17-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Given his 2023 season was cut short by a mid-November wrist injury, head coach Zac Taylor made the decision to get Burrow some playing time right out of the gate in the preseason opener. The 2020 first-round pick played on the opening possession and led a crisp 12-play, 73-yard march that he capped off with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tee Higgins. In the process, Burrow had nine-yard completions to Higgins and Trenton Irwin, as well as a 23-yard connection with the emerging Andrei Iosivas. Given how well he played Saturday and his importance to the Bengals' fortunes, Burrow could be limited in playing time during next Saturday afternoon's road exhibition matchup against the Bears.
Aug 8, 2024
In line to play Saturday
Burrow is on track to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Buccaneers, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While coach Zac Taylor wouldn't say how long Burrow is likely to play Saturday, the Bengals' franchise QB is poised to make his first game appearance since Nov. 16, when he suffered a season-ending wrist injury. Once Burrow gets his reps with fellow starters in versus Tampa Bay, look for some combo of Jake Browning, Logan Woodside and Rocky Lombardi to finish up the contest.
Aug 1, 2024
Could play in preseason opener
Coach Zac Taylor noted Thursday that for now the plan is for Burrow and other starters to play in the Bengals' first preseason game against Buccaneers on Aug. 10, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's looming participation in the contest hinges on everything going according to plan in the meantime, but it does appear that as long as the QB avoids any setbacks with his wrist, the QB is trending toward seeing the field versus Tampa Bay. If that does happen, however, we'd expect Burrow's reps to be limited before turning things over to some combo of fellow signal-callers Jake Browning, Logan Woodside and Rocky Lombardi.
Jul 22, 2024
Fully cleared for contact
Coach Zac Taylor said Monday that Burrow (wrist) has been cleared for full contact to begin training camp, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow has spent the offseason cautiously managing his surgically repaired right wrist, and back in June he declined to put a specific percentage on his rehab process. Even if the Bengals still end up giving Burrow rest days during camp and/or the preseason, he's been cleared for all activities save contact since May, so this represents the last substantial step in his recovery ahead of Week 1. With Burrow at full strength, he and top wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins -- the latter of whom will play on the franchise tag for 2024 -- are well positioned to bounce back and lead what should be one of the league's best passing offenses. Cincinnati added a rookie third-round pick with 4.45 speed in Jermain Burton during April's draft, plus TE Mike Gesicki in free agency, both of whom could help Burrow better threaten opposing defenses downfield. His YPA across 10 games in 2023 sat at a career-low 6.3, but Burrow figures to improve on that mark in the 2024 campaign.
Jun 12, 2024
Won't put a number on progress
Burrow (wrist) said Tuesday that he'll be ready for the start of the season but doesn't want to put a percentage on his rehab progress, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow hinted at a more cautious approach than he had with past injuries, noting that he should have "taken more time" after he suffered a calf injury last summer (and then averaged 182 passing yards and 0.5 TDs over the first four weeks of the season). Burrow rebounded in a big way with averages of 296 yards and 2.4 TDs over the next five games, only to suffer a season-ending wrist injury Week 11 at Baltimore. He had surgery Nov. 27 to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, and by early May he'd been cleared for everything besides contact. Burrow has been lifting weights for more than three months and throwing footballs for more than a month, but it sounds like he won't push too hard this summer, at least not until training camp opens in late July.
May 7, 2024
Continues to progress
Burrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.
May 6, 2024
Throwing at minicamp
Burrow (wrist) is on the field throwing at Monday's minicamp practice.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's season ended 27 snaps into Week 11 last season, and he required surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right (throwing) wrist. Earlier in the offseason, Burrow stated he expected to be fully cleared by mid-May, and it appears he's on track. Burrow should be all systems go well in time for training camp later this summer. His weaponry has gone a bit of an overhaul, with Joe Mixon, Tyler Boyd and Irv Smith jettisoned. Veterans Zack Moss and Mike Gesicki were signed as free agents to go along with returnees Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Mar 14, 2024
Facing changes on offense
Burrow (wrist) is slated to enter the 2024 season with a revamped skill-position group, with Joe Mixon set to be traded to the Texans, Zack Moss inking a two-year deal as his replacement, and numerous shifts in the receiving game, Ben Baby of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow will have to cope with more than just a new-look backfield, though it remains to be seen whether Moss can adequately fill Mixon's shoes, even after he proved so productive filling in for Jonathan Taylor at the start of last season. Tyler Boyd is currently a free agent, while explosive tight end Mike Gesicki is poised to ink a one-year deal with the Bengals, giving Burrow a replacement target in the middle of the field. Perhaps most important, though, is the fact that Tee Higgins has requested a trade, as Jared Goffinet of Fox 19 Cincinnati reports. That situation may not resolve in the near future, and further changes on offense could still occur in free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft, but in any scenario, Ja'Marr Chase will remain the pillar of this receiving game. For his part, Burrow is expected to be cleared for full contact by mid-May, as he continues his recovery from Nov. 27 surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.
Mar 4, 2024
Should be cleared in May
Burrow (wrist) said Sunday that he expects to be "cleared for full contact and everything" by mid-May, ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow also said he's able to lift weights "basically normally now" and has started throwing small medicine balls as part of his rehab. He had surgery Nov. 27 to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, 11 days after suffering the injury in a Week 11 loss at Baltimore. Prior to that, Burrow had found his groove with multiple TD passes in five straight games, bouncing back strong after throwing just two TDs over the first four weeks of the season while dealing with a lingering calf injury from training camp. He anticipates being ready for his normal throwing routine at OTAs, though it sounds like he'll take it slow until then
Jan 8, 2024
Anticipates throwing by OTAs
Burrow (wrist) said that he thinks he will be throwing by OTAs this spring, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow underwent season-ending surgery on his right (throwing) wrist shortly after Thanksgiving and missed the final seven games of the 2023 campaign, finishing his year with 2,309 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions on a 66.9 percent completion rate. Burrow should be fully recovered well ahead of training camp next summer.
Nov 27, 2023
Has surgery on wrist Monday
Burrow underwent surgery to repair the torn ligament in his right wrist Monday.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals released the following statement regarding the surgery: "The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery. Joe will return to Cincinnati this week to be with the team and begin the recovery and rehab process." Burrow is in line to miss the rest of the campaign, capping him to 2,309 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions in parts of 10 games. There's an expectation that he'll be healthy well in advance of the 2024 season.
Nov 26, 2023
Getting surgery Monday
Burrow is set to undergo surgery Monday to repair the torn ligament in his right wrist, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow will miss the rest of the season after Cincinnati placed him on injured reserve Saturday, just over a week after he suffered the injury in the Bengals' Nov. 16 loss to the Ravens. The expectation is that Burrow will make a full recovery in advance of the 2024 season, but the Bengals will turn the offense over to Jake Browning beginning with this Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Nov 25, 2023
Officially lands on IR
The Bengals officially placed Burrow (wrist) on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Burrow is set to miss the rest of the season due to a torn ligament in his right wrist. Cincinnati elevated AJ McCarron from the practice squad in a corresponding move to back up Jake Browning under center. Burrow will now focus on his recovery and rehabbing for the 2024 season.
Nov 17, 2023
In line to miss rest of season
Burrow (wrist) is slated to be out for the remainder of the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
Per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Burrow tore a ligament in his wrist during Thursday's loss to the Ravens and is thus trending toward needing season-ending surgery, per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site. In Burrow's looming absence, Jake Browning is next up at QB for the team, with AJ McCarron currently on Cincinnati's practice squad.
Nov 16, 2023
Likely dealing with sprain
Burrow is believed to have suffered a sprain in his right wrist during Thursday's 34-20 loss to the Ravens, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow exited the game shortly before halftime and was unable to grip the ball on his follow through when taking warmup throws on the sideline. He did not return to the game, though he'll now have 10 days to recover before another pivotal divisional contest in Week 12 against the Steelers. However, a potential timeline for his return remains unclear. Jake Browning took over under center and would likely remain the starter if Burrow is sidelined.
Nov 16, 2023
Ruled out from return
Burrow (wrist) will not return to Thursday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Burrow suffered the injury midway through the second quarter after throwing a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon. After being evaluated in the locker room, Burrow returned to the sideline for the second half but was without a helmet. The severity of the injury is unknown, but the Bengals will rely on Jake Browning to close out Thursday's contest.
Nov 16, 2023
Suffers wrist injury
Burrow is questionable to return after suffering a wrist injury in Thursday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Burrow appeared to suffer the injury after completing a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon in the second quarter. He tried to throw on the sideline after the issue arose, but he was unable to grip the ball and proceeded to the locker room.
Nov 12, 2023
Struggles with turnovers Sunday
Burrow completed 27 of 40 passes for 347 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and added five carries for 20 yards in the Bengals' 30-27 loss to the Texans on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Burrow finished the afternoon with a perfectly acceptable fantasy stat line, but his pair of fourth-quarter interceptions were particularly detrimental despite neither directly leading to Texans points. His first pick came at Houston's 11-yard line, while the second transpired in the end zone and short-circuited what had been an encouraging seven-play, 78-yard drive. Burrow's highlights did include a picturesque 64-yard touchdown strike to Ja'Marr Chase, which was preceded by a 32-yard scoring toss to Trenton Irwin to cap off Cincinnati's opening possession. Burrow may not have Tee Higgins (hamstring) back for a critical Week 11 divisional road clash against the Ravens on Thursday night, but he'll head into the contest with two- and five-game streaks of 300-yard tallies and multi-touchdown efforts, respectively.
Nov 5, 2023
Play improves with health
Burrow completed 31 of 44 pass attempts for 348 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers in Sunday's 24-18 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Burrow turned in another masterful passing performance in his second game coming out of Cincinnati's bye in Week 7. The young superstar has completed 78 percent of his passes for 631 yards and five touchdowns in those two contests after a lingering calf injury limited his play out of the gates. Now that he is seemingly back at full strength, Burrow should resume his upper echelon status in fantasy while boosting his top receivers' projections for a home matchup against Houston's 24th-ranked pass defense next Sunday.
Oct 29, 2023
Best showing of season in win
Burrow completed 28 of 32 passes for 283 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bengals' 31-17 win over the 49ers on Sunday. He also rushed six times for 43 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Week 7 bye appeared to do wonders for Burrow's mobility, as the 2020 first overall pick looked completely healed from his calf strain while befuddling a slumping 49ers defense all afternoon. Burrow was nearly perfect on the day despite taking three sacks and getting hit frequently, and he connected with seven different targets overall. Burrow's connection with Ja'Marr Chase was especially in fine shape -- he hit the star receiver on 10 occasions for 100 yards and a 17-yard touchdown -- and the signal-caller also recorded seven- and two-yard scoring tosses to Tyler Boyd and Andrei Iosivas, respectively. Burrow appears to be back in top form just in time for a Week 9 home showdown with the Bills next Sunday night.
Oct 15, 2023
Unimpressive in victory
Burrow completed 24 of 35 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 17-13 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Burrow appeared prepared to build on his breakout Week 5 performance, as he racked up 55 yards and threw for a touchdown on Cincinnati's opening drive. He tacked on an additional score early in the second quarter but found things far more difficult from there, as he ultimately averaged 5.3 yards per attempt and racked up under 200 passing yards for the third time in six games. Positively, he has multiple passing touchdowns in consecutive matchups after achieving that only once in his first four contests. Burrow will also have the chance to rest his lingering calf issue as the Bengals head into a Week 7 bye.
Oct 8, 2023
Breaks out against Cards
Burrow completed 36 of 46 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 34-20 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
He added seven rushing yards on four carries. For the first time this season, Burrow didn't seem to be bothered by the calf he originally injured at the beginning of training camp, as he hit Ja'Marr Chase for scores in the first, third and fourth quarters, the longest going for 63 yards. It's the QB's first 300-yard effort of 2023 and the 17th of his NFL career, and if his calf is 100 percent again, Burrow could continue making up for his slow start in Week 6 against a Seahawks secondary that's already allowed three quarterbacks to throw for over 300 yards in only four games.
Oct 4, 2023
Feeling better than last week
Burrow said Wednesday that he's feeling better than he did the past few weeks after playing through a calf injury, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and coach Zac Taylor both have confirmed this week that they plan for the QB to continue playing through the calf injury that he originally suffered during the first week of training camp. Burrow noted Wednesday that he reinjured it a couple weeks ago and has struggled ever since, though he also told reporters he's "optimistic" about regaining his mobility soon. He'll start Sunday's game in Arizona unless there's some kind of drastic setback during practice this week.
Oct 2, 2023
Will continue to play through calf strain
Coach Zac Taylor confirmed Monday that the Bengals have no intention of sitting Burrow, as the QB continues to deal with a lingering calf strain, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
When asked specifically if Burrow is going to start against the Cardinals on Sunday, Taylor replied in the affirmative, noting that he believes that the Bengals offense can operate at a high enough level, even given the signal-caller's current condition. Burrow practiced fully last week and approached the team's Week 4 loss to the Titans without an injury designation, so unless he suffers a setback at practice this week, Burrow will be out there again this weekend, though it's possible key wideout Tee Higgins (rib) could be limited or out versus Arizona.
Oct 1, 2023
Can't shake slow start
Burrow completed 20 of 30 passes for 165 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-3 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Burrow seemed to make progress throughout the week in recovering from his calf injury, as he didn't carry a designation into Sunday's game. However, that didn't translate into his performance on the field, as he failed to get the Bengals' offense moving against one of the more vulnerable pass defenses in the league. Overall, Burrow has now been held under 200 passing yards in half of his four games this season and has thrown for no touchdown in three of four contests.
Sep 29, 2023
No designation for Week 4
Burrow (calf) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game in Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Listed as questionable ahead of the Bengals' Week 3 game against the Rams after aggravating a calf injury late in the Week 2 loss to the Ravens, Burrow ultimately suited up and played 100 percent of the offensive snaps in the 19-16 win over Los Angeles, completing 26 of 49 pass attempts for 259 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Though the Bengals are facing a shorter turnaround for their Week 4 game against the Titans, Burrow nonetheless appears to be in a better spot on the health front. In addition to avoiding an injury designation for Sunday's contest, Burrow was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday through Friday.
Sep 28, 2023
Puts in full practice
Burrow (calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was listed as a full participant Wednesday on the Bengals' first Week 4 injury report, but his ability to take every rep Thursday was more meaningful since Cincinnati held a traditional practice session rather than a walk-through. Though Burrow probably isn't 100 percent recovered from the right calf injury he aggravated late in the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Ravens, the quarterback doesn't look as though he'll be in danger of missing any game action after he came out of Monday's win over the Rams no worse for the wear. He'll draw a favorable matchup this Sunday against the Titans, facing off against a defense that has been stout against the run but vulnerable against the pass (275.3 yards per game).
Sep 27, 2023
Full participant in walkthrough
Burrow (calf) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow hasn't been his usual dynamic self this season since suffering a calf injury in the early days of training camp. He even was among the biggest question marks for Week 3 action, but he was able to suit up Monday against the Rams, completing 26 of 49 passes for 259 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in a 19-16 victory. The Bengals held a walkthrough Wednesday, so his listed activity level should be taken with a grain of salt, especially after coach Zac Taylor told Ben Baby of ESPN.com that Burrow's workload will be watched closely each day this week. With that knowledge, Burrow's status should continue to be monitored ahead of Sunday's game at Tennessee.
Sep 25, 2023
Gutsy performance on MNF
Burrow (calf) completed 26 of 49 pass attempts for 259 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Monday's 19-16 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was able to power through his lingering calf injury in order to help Cincinnati earn its first victory of the 2023 campaign. The star quarterback was clearly not at full strength, making several errant throws and showing limited mobility in the pocket. The end result was another pedestrian fantasy line for a player who sat near the top of all passing categories over the last two seasons. On the bright side, Burrow confirmed that he did not suffer any setbacks to his calf in a post-game interview following Monday's victory. The best hope for the quarterback's fantasy managers at this point is that he continues to inch closer to full strength as the season progresses. Assuming Burrow gets through this week's practice unscathed, he should be back under center for the Bengals in a tough road matchup against the Titans next Sunday.
Sep 25, 2023
Active for Monday's game
Burrow (calf) is listed as active for Monday night's game against the Rams, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was officially listed as questionable for the contest after being deemed a limited participant in practice Friday and Saturday, but he'll give it a go Monday and is set to work through his right calf strain. It remains to be seen how close the Bengals' franchise signal-caller will be to 100 percent versus Los Angeles, but should Burrow suffer any in-game setbacks, Jake Browning is next in line for the team's QB snaps, with practice squad elevation Reid Sinnett on hand in reserve.
Sep 25, 2023
Expected to face Rams
Burrow (calf) is expected to play Monday night against the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer report.
ANALYSIS
Burrow approached the contest officially listed as questionable after being a limited participant in practice Friday and Saturday, but it appears as though he will play through his strained right calf Monday. Official confirmation of the QB's Week 3 status will arrive once the Bengals inactives are posted ahead of the team's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 25, 2023
Pushing to play Monday
Burrow (calf) intends to try and suit up for Monday night's game against the Rams, barring any setbacks, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow appears to be trending in the right direction for Monday Night Football, but a final word on his status may not come until closer to tonight's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. The star quarterback is officially listed as questionable for Week 3, but he's reportedly continued to feel better as the week has progressed, and he took first-team reps during Sunday's walk-through practice. Jake Browning would be in line to start for Cincinnati if Burrow's right calf injury doesn't react well during pre-game warmups.
Sep 24, 2023
Took first snaps in walkthrough
Burrow took the first-team snaps in Sunday's walk-through, Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The implication here is that Burrow is pushing to play on Monday night and that this decision will go all the way until Monday night. This activity contrasts with Friday and Saturday's practices, where Burrow worked with the scout team.
Sep 24, 2023
Trending toward game-time decision
A decision on the status of Burrow (calf) for Monday night's game against the Rams could go up to game-time, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The report adds that Burrow, who is officially listed as questionable after logging limited practices Friday and Saturday, has been feeling progressively better as the week has unfolded, but Rapoport suggests that if the QB does get the green light Monday, he may need to play through some pain. In any case, given the timing of the Bengals' 8:15 ET kickoff Monday, those considering Burrow in Week 3 fantasy lineups would have limited pivot options (including backup Jake Browning and Matthew Stafford of the Rams) in the event that he is unavailable.
Sep 23, 2023
Questionable for Monday
Burrow (calf) will be listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Rams, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Zac Taylor hardly gave a ringing endorsement regarding Burrow's status saying, "We'll see. Still have 48 hours." Burrow was spotted participating during Saturday's practice with a compression sleeve around his injured calf, but it does mark two straight days in which the star quarterback did light work during practice. The Bengals hosted both Trace McSorley and AJ McCarron on a workout Saturday in an effort to boast their depth at the position, although it would be almost impossible to expect either to see game action Monday if the Bengals opted to sign a new backup signal caller.
Sep 23, 2023
Participating in warm ups
Burrow (calf) was spotted participating in Saturday's practice warm ups, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll find out Burrow's official status likely later Saturday, but it sure seems as if this is a positive step towards the star quarterback playing Monday against the Rams. The 26-year-old also logged limited participation in Friday's practice.
Sep 22, 2023
Logs limited practice Friday
Burrow (calf) practiced in a limited capacity Friday, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from not participating in any drills, Burrow took the practice field in full pads Friday and proceeded to get in some work. He'll have one more session to put himself in a position to play Monday against the Rams as he tends to a sore right calf. Saturday's injury report will reveal whether or not he heads into that contest with a designation. If Burrow is unable to go Week 3, the Bengals will turn to Jake Browning under center.
Sep 22, 2023
Spotted at practice
Burrow (calf) was present for Friday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dehner relays that Burrow was on the field with his shoulder pads on, but it remains to be seen how the Bengals will list the QB's Friday practice participation. Burrow was listed as a non-participant Thursday, in the team's initial practice ahead of Monday night's game against the Rams.
Sep 21, 2023
Doesn't practice Thursday
Burrow (calf) was listed as a non-participant in practice Thursday, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Zac Taylor previously relayed that the Bengals plan to take it "day-to-day" with Burrow and "assess (him) each day." For his part, when asked Thursday about his status for Monday's game against the Rams, the QB said "we'll see." Burrow now has two more chances to practice before the Bengals determine whether or not he'll approach Week 3 action with an injury designation.
Sep 21, 2023
Dealing with soreness
Coach Zac Taylor noted that Burrow is still dealing with some soreness in his calf ahead of Thursday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The report adds that if Burrow is able to practice Thursday, the QB isn't likely to participate fully. With that in mind, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site relays that the team is taking things day-by-day with Burrow as Monday night's game against the Rams approaches. If Burrow is unavailable for Week 3 action, Jake Browning would be in line to start in his place versus Los Angeles.
Sep 18, 2023
Looking uncertain for Week 3
Zac Taylor said Monday it's "hard to say" whether Burrow (calf) will be available versus the Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 3, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow tweaked his right calf during Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Ravens, and the Bengals are still in the initial stages of evaluating the severity of his injury. Thus far there have been no indications that Burrow could be dealing with a long-term issue, but it may take a few more days of evaluation before Cincinnati has a firm idea about his Week 3 prospects. Burrow missed the entire preseason due to a calf injury sustained back in July, so though the Bengals have opened the 2023 season with back-to-back losses, the team may be particularly cautious regarding the star quarterback's recovery. Jake Browning would stand to start Week 3 if Burrow can't go.
Sep 17, 2023
Tweaks right calf in Week 2 loss
Burrow noted after Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Ravens that he tweaked his right calf at the end of the contest, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Burrow will have to see how his calf feels over the next couple of days, but the QB indicated that he planned to return to the game if the Bengals got another possession versus Baltimore, James Palmer of NFL Network reports. While he was on the field Sunday, Burrow completed 27 of 41 pass attempts for 222 yards with two TDs and a pick to go along with one carry for five yards. The Bengals take on the Rams in Week 3, a week from Monday.
Sep 10, 2023
Held under 100 yards in Week 1
Burrow completed 14 of 31 passes for 82 yards and rushed once for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 24-3 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Burrow looked rusty after missing the entire preseason due to a calf injury, failing to lead the Bengals to any first-half points while throwing for a paltry 36 yards in slick Cleveland conditions. Cincinnati finally got a field goal in the third quarter, but things didn't get any better for Burrow, who failed to crack the 100-yard mark before being removed from the game when Cincinnati waved the white flag in the fourth quarter. Burrow will look to get over this disastrous season opener in the Week 2 home opener against a Ravens defense that just held the Texans without a touchdown.
Sep 8, 2023
Slated to play in opener
Coach Zac Taylor confirmed Friday that Burrow (calf) will play in Sunday's season opener against the Browns, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who's bouncing back from a strained right calf, practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday and will be available to start the Bengals' season opener on the heels of agreeing a five-year, $275 million extension with the team. With the QB's calf issue no longer impacting his playing status and his contract situation resolved, Burrow is poised to continue to helm a productive Cincinnati passing attack that features the returning starting wide receiver trio of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd .
Sep 7, 2023
Signs massive extension
Burrow signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension with the Bengals on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and the Bengals have been working on an extension for some time, though there was little doubt a deal would eventually get done. He becomes the highest-paid player in NFL history, and $219 million of his total deal is guaranteed. In addition to his excellent statistical output, Burrow has played a significant role in turning around Cincinnati's fortunes as a franchise, leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance and AFC Championship Game appearance in the last two seasons.
Sep 6, 2023
Practices fully Wednesday
Burrow (calf) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow has been bouncing back from a strained right calf, but now that he's practicing fully the QB indicated that he's "ready to go" for Week 1 action. Assuming no setbacks, Burrow is on track to start Sunday's season opener against the Browns and is thus slated to continue to helm a productive Bengals passing attack that welcomes back its top WR trio, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd .
Sep 6, 2023
Expected to practice fully
Coach Zac Taylor noted that Burrow (calf) is expected to participate fully in Wednesday's practice, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals' first injury report of the season, which will arrive later Wednesday will confirm the QB's participation level, either way. Assuming Burrow does log a full session, he'd be on track to start Sunday's season opener against the Browns.
Sep 4, 2023
Deemed day-to-day
Coach Zac Taylor indicated Monday that Burrow (calf) is day-to-day as Sunday's season opener against the Browns approaches, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor has yet to confirm Burrow's Week 1 status, but the QB appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's contest. Added context on that front should arrive no later than Wednesday, when the Bengals' first official practice/injury report of the season is posted.
Sep 1, 2023
Making progress
Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan noted Thursday that he thinks Burrow (calf) "is in a good place," adding that the team has a "good plan in place for (the QB) to get ready for Week 1," Ben Baby of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who had missed nearly six weeks due to a strained right calf, practiced again Thursday and took part in individual drills during the media-access-portion of the session. With that in mind, Callahan relayed that the next step for the Bengals' franchise signal-caller will be participation in "intense team periods" when practice resumes Monday. Assuming no setbacks, it appears as though Burrow is trending toward Week 1 availability, but for now coach Zac Taylor indicated that the team would continue to take things on a day-by-day basis with the QB.
Aug 30, 2023
Back at practice Wednesday
Burrow (calf) returned to practice Wednesday, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Practicing for the first time since he strained his calf in late July, Burrow participated in every throwing drill during the portion of practice open to the media, per Ben Baby of ESPN.com. This is an important step in Burrow's recovery process as the quarterback tries to gain clearance ahead of Cincinnati's Sept. 10 regular-season opener in Cleveland, but Burrow isn't completely out of the woods yet with this injury. Jake Browning is the only other quarterback on the roster behind Burrow after the Bengals released Trevor Siemian on Tuesday, though Cincinnati also added Will Grier to its practice squad Wednesday.
Aug 29, 2023
Return to practice TBD
Coach Zac Taylor noted Tuesday that Burrow's contract situation isn't a factor in the QB -- who is dealing with a strained right calf -- continuing to miss practice, Ben Baby of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
When asked if Burrow -- who is eligible for a new contract now that he's entering the fourth year of his rookie deal, per Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer -- will return to practice this week, the coach was noncommittal. "We'll see," Taylor said of the Bengals' franchise signal-caller's potential return to the field in the coming days. With Trevor Siemian having been released, Jake Browning is now the team's No. 2 QB behind Burrow, though a third option at the position could well be added ahead of Week 1.
Aug 21, 2023
Making progress
During his Monday press conference, coach Zac Taylor noted that Burrow, who is dealing with a calf strain, "looks great" at this stage of his recovery, Kelsey Conwayof the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
"Physically just walking around he looks probably as good as he's ever looked at this point. That's a positive and we will just go from there," Taylor indicated of the Bengals' franchise QB, who hasn't practiced since July 27. While a timetable for Burrow's return to action has yet to be outlined by the team, Conway suggests that based off his pregame workout before the Bengals' Aug. 11 preseason game against the Packers -- during which the signal-caller was spotted running and throwing -- it appears at though he's trending in the right direction ahead of Week 1.
Aug 18, 2023
Doesn't travel with team
Burrow (calf) didn't travel with the Bengals for the team's preseason game against the Falcons on Friday night, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
A non-contact calf injury that he sustained on the second day of training camp has sidelined the QB since then, but prior to last Friday's preseason opener against the Packers, Burrow was encouragingly spotted on the field doing some running and throwing. Conway notes that coach Zac Taylor has kept details of Burrow's timeline for a return to practice to a minimum, but it seems pretty safe to assume that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller won't see exhibition action ahead of Week 1.
Aug 11, 2023
Seen running and throwing Friday
Prior to Friday's preseason opener against the Packers, Burrow (calf) was spotted on the field doing some running and throwing, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Burrow was able to make some "big throws down the field" during Friday's pre-game session and was not wearing a protective leg sleeve while doing so. Though it remains to be seen how close the QB is to a return to action, both reports are highly encouraging with regard to Burrow's chances of being ready for the start of the regular season.
Aug 9, 2023
Present but not practicing
Burrow (calf) returned to practice as an observer Wednesday but is not participating, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow is speaking with teammates at practice for the first time since suffering a calf strain late July, while wearing a black sleeve on his injured right leg. The star will remain a passive observer of Cincinnati's joint practices with Green Bay, as coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday when asked for an update on Burrow's recovery that "the timeline is several weeks from when I said several weeks," per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Bengals will continue to hold out hope for Burrow to recover in time for Sept. 10's regular-season opener in Cleveland, but it will fall to Trevor Siemian, Jake Browning and Reid Sinnett to command the offense during Friday's preseason contest against the Packers.
Jul 28, 2023
Out for "several" weeks
Coach Zac Taylor said Friday that Burrow is expected to miss "several weeks" with a calf strain, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The comment hints at Burrow missing most or all of training camp and the preseason but having enough time to get ready for Week 1. The quarterback strained his calf during Thursday's practice, giving him six and a half weeks to recover before a Sept. 10 home opener against the division-rival Browns. If Burrow's recovery lags, the Bengals have Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning behind him in the QB room, with Siemian being the favorite to make fill-in starts.
Jul 27, 2023
Dealing with calf strain
Bengals sources have reportedly confirmed that Burrow suffered a strained right calf during Thursday's practice, Dianna Russini of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Burrow is slated to undergo further testing, after which there should be a degree of added clarity with regard to the severity of QB's injury. For any length of time that Burrow is sidelined, Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning will handle the Bengals' signal-caller duties.
Jul 27, 2023
Slated to undergo further testing
Burrow, who suffered what is believed to be a calf strain during Thursday's practice, is slated to undergo further testing to assess his injury, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
ANALYSIS
Though the Bengals have yet to elaborate on the nature of the QB's right calf issue, coach Zac Taylor did relay after Thursday's session that the team would have a better understanding of the severity of Burrow's injury soon. At this point, there's no timetable for the signal-caller's return to the field, but we'd expect the 26-year-old to miss some time in any case. If that transpires, Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning would be in line to handle practice reps in Burrow's absence.
Jul 27, 2023
Suffers calf injury Thursday
Coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Burrow sustained a calf injury during Thursday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The severity of the issue has yet to be determined, but it's worth noting that prior to going down on the field and then being carted away Thursday, Burrow had been sporting a sleeve on his calf. For now, consider the Bengals' star QB day-to-day.
Jul 27, 2023
Carted off field Thursday
Burrow was carted off the field Thursday after appearing to sustain a leg injury, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Conway notes that the QB grabbed his calf after going down on the field Thursday. At this point, it's too early to get a read on the severity of Burrow's issue, but this is clearly a situation to monitor closely. Next up for the Bengals' signal-caller reps should Burrow miss any time are Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning.
Apr 25, 2023
2024 option exercised by Cincinnati
The Bengals exercised Burrow's fifth-year option for 2024 on Tuesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
ANALYSIS
The two sides remain in talks about a long-term extension, which could get hammered out well before 2024. Picking up the option was merely a procedural move keeping Burrow under team control should extension talks go sideways. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow won Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 and made his first Pro Bowl in 2022 while finishing fourth in MVP voting. Burrow has already played in seven playoff games over the last two seasons, reaching the Super Bowl back in 2021 before falling to Kansas City in the AFC title game last year. Burrow could soon be in line to become the NFL's highest-paid player.
Jan 29, 2023
Comes up just short at Arrowhead
Burrow completed 26 of 41 passes for 270 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 23-20 AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs. He added 30 yards on four rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
Burrow threw a game-tying, 27-yard touchdown to Tee Higgins in the third quarter and had the ball with a chance to win it down the stretch, but Kansas City's defense got a crucial third-down stop by sacking Burrow for the fifth time. The Chiefs kicked the winning field goal in the final seconds on their ensuing possession to avenge last season's AFC Championship Game loss to Burrow's Bengals. After throwing for 4,475 yards and a 35:12 TD:INT in the regular season, Burrow added four more touchdown passes, a rushing touchdown and two interceptions in three postseason games.
Jan 22, 2023
Advances to AFC Championship Game
Burrow completed 23 of 36 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Bills in the AFC divisional round. He also rushed six times for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow started hot despite snowy conditions, connecting on his first nines throws, which included his two touchdowns. The signal caller opened by finding top target Ja'Marr Chase for a 28-yard score, then hit tight end Hayden Hurst from 15 yards to cap Cincinnati's second drive. With some added production on the ground, Burrow will now prepare for next Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs. Facing Kansas City in Week 13 of the regular season, Burrow totaled 332 yards and three touchdowns while not committing any turnovers in a 27-24 victory.
Jan 15, 2023
Throws one TD in playoff win
Burrow completed 22 of 32 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Ravens. He also threw a two-point conversion while adding nine rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on five attempts in the wild-card round win.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens held Burrow to fewer than 220 passing yards for the third time in as many meetings this season, but the Bengals found a way to get through with a full-team effort. Burrow connected with Ja'Marr Chase for a seven-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to take a 9-0 lead. After Baltimore responded with 10 unanswered points before halftime, Burrow put the Bengals up 17-10 with a one-yard rushing touchdown and two-point conversion to Tee Higgins. Cincinnati's defense took over from there with a 98-yard fumble recovery touchdown in the fourth quarter, propelling the Bengals into the AFC divisional round, where they will face the Bills on the road.
Jan 8, 2023
Mediocre to close regular season
Burrow completed 25 of 42 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-16 win over the Ravens. He added three rushes for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow took to the air plenty with the second seed in the AFC potentially up for grabs, and he topped 40 pass attempts for the second consecutive game. His efficiency was less noteworthy, as he managed only 5.1 yards per attempt. Despite that, he did complete four passes of at least 20 yards, highlighted by a 26-yard touchdown toss to Ja'Marr Chase. With the win, Burrow and the Bengals will host the Ravens in a rematch during wild-card weekend.
Dec 24, 2022
Tale of two halves
Burrow was dominant in the first half against the Pats, and very shaky in the second half in the Bengals' 22-18 win. He ended up completing 40 of 52 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing two interceptions.
ANALYSIS
All of the Bengals' scoring came in the first half, when Burrow went 28-of-36 for 284 yards and all three touchdowns. In the second half he threw a pick-six and was held under 100 yards, as the Pats' pass rush intensified, and their offense kept the Bengals off the field. The Bengals need to find out how long OT La'el Collins (knee) will be out, but presumably he won't play next week against the Bills.
Dec 18, 2022
Throws four second-half TDs
Burrow completed 27 of 39 pass attempts for 200 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 34-23 win over Tampa Bay. He added eight rushing yards on three attempts.
ANALYSIS
It was a tale of two halves for Burrow and the Bengals, who mustered just three points in the first half before going off for 31 unanswered points after halftime. The star quarterback welcomed back Tee Higgins (hamstring) and Tyler Boyd (finger) from minor injuries by dialing up both for two of his four scores in the decisive win. Burrow is up to 31 touchdowns with three games left in the regular season, putting him well on pace to surpass last year's career-high mark of 34. The 26-year-old will prepare to face the Patriots on the road Saturday.
Dec 11, 2022
Overcomes receiver injuries
Playing without three of his top four pass-catchers, Burrow completed 18 of 33 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's win over the Browns. He also had six carries for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Tee Higgins allegedly aggravated his hamstring injury in warmups, Tyler Boyd dislocated his finger on the first pass of the game and Hayden Hurst missed the game entirely, so Burrow had to make due with Ja'Marr Chase, Trenton Irwin and Trent Taylor. When viewed in that light, Burrow's performance was pretty good. The interception was a product of a pass getting deflected at the line of scrimmage, which has been a problem for Burrow.
Dec 4, 2022
Another command performance
Burrow completed 25 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns, plus he ran 11 times for 46 yards and the game's opening touchdown in Sunday's win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was nearly perfect in the win, finishing the game off in style with a laser to Tee Higgins to convert a 3rd-and-11 play after the 2:00-warning. He was sacked just once, and it's worth noting that the Bengals' offensive line has done a far better job of protecting him ever since the debacle against the Browns on Halloween night. He gets his chance at revenge against the Browns next week at home.
Nov 27, 2022
Leads Bengals to gritty win
Burrow threw for 270 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' 20-16 win over the Titans on Sunday. He also had nine carries for 32 yards.
ANALYSIS
It wasn't a banner fantasy day for Burrow, but he protected the ball (zero turnovers) and was only sacked once, despite not having the services of Ja'Marr Chase and Joe Mixon. He'll have to put up bigger numbers next week when the Bengals host the Chiefs.
Nov 20, 2022
Four touchdown passes
Burrow was superb Sunday against the Steelers, completing 24 of 39 passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns. He did throw two tipped interceptions and was sacked twice.
ANALYSIS
If there was a downside to Burrow's performance, it's that too many passes got tipped at the line of scrimmage, leading to the two turnovers. But he overcame that to lead the Bengals on multiple long scoring drives, connecting for over 20 yards with six different pass-catchers. A tough road matchup awaits at Tennessee, where he was sacked nine times in the playoffs last season.
Nov 6, 2022
Overshadowed by Mixon
Burrow completed 22 of 28 passes or 206 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 42-21 win over the Panthers. He added four rushes for nine yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had a strong bounceback performance following a disappointing primetime effort in Week 8. His day was highlighted by a one-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter and a 12-yard scoring pass to Joe Mixon. Burrow missed out on a bigger day as Mixon accounted for five of Cincinnati's six touchdowns and because the Bengals were able to coast to a victory after jumping out to a 35-0 lead before halftime. Nevertheless, Burrow has at least two total touchdowns in all but one game this season, giving him a very safe floor.
Oct 31, 2022
Haunted by Chase's absence
Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Monday's 32-13 loss to the Browns. He added two yards on one rushing attempt and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had an interception in the first quarter and a fumble in the second as the Bengals were shut out in the first half. He finally stemmed the bleeding with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd early in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late at that point, as the Bengals were trailing 25-0. A 41-yard jump ball touchdown to Tee Higgins on the following possession brought Burrow's final output up to a respectable level, but this performance suggests Burrow's fantasy managers could be in for a bumpy ride while Burrow's favorite target Ja'Marr Chase recovers from a hip injury. Chase won't be back in Week 9 against the Panthers.
Oct 23, 2022
Shreds Falcons
Burrow completed 34 of 42 passes for 481 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 35-17 win over the Falcons. He added three rushes for 20 yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Burrow topped 37 passes for the first time since Week 1 and was incredibly efficient with his opportunity. He torched the Falcons' defense for nine completions of at least 20 yards, highlighted by touchdowns of 60, 41 and 32 yards. His effort through the air will rightfully get the majority of the attention, but Burrow also tallied a rushing score for the third consecutive game. After a relatively sluggish start to the campaign, Burrow has tallied at least 300 passing yards and three touchdowns in each of his last two games.
Oct 16, 2022
Fills stat sheet with four TDs
Burrow completed 28 of 37 pass attempts for 300 yards and three touchdowns while adding 25 rushing yards and another score on four carries in Sunday's 30-26 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Burrow wore teammate Ja'Marr Chase's college uniform while entering the Superdome -- the location the duo won a national championship with LSU -- and the star players put on a clinic against New Orleans on the road. The 25-year-old led the game-winning drive to get the Bengals back to 3-3, while also restoring faith in his fantasy managers following a down game against Baltimore last week. Burrow has now scored 14 total touchdowns (12 passing) to go against seven turnovers, but six of those seven came in one game to open the season. After missing the entire preseason following emergency appendectomy surgery, the star quarterback looks to be hitting his stride heading into a favorable matchup at home against Atlanta next Sunday.
Oct 10, 2022
Goes for two scores in SNF loss
Burrow completed 24 of 35 pass attempts for 217 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding three rushes for six yards and another score in Sunday's 19-17 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens were intent on not giving up the deep ball to Burrow and his favorite target, Ja'Marr Chase (seven catches for 50 yards), leading to punts on the Bengals' first four drives of the contest. The 25-year-old continued to take what the defense gave him, keeping his team in the game until the final drive without his usual gaudy passing totals. Burrow saved what would have been his worst fantasy performance of the season with a one-yard touchdown plunge with 1:58 left in the fourth quarter, but Lamar Jackson led a clutch drive on the next possession to eventually seal the win for the Ravens. Burrow will attempt to get Cincinnati back into the win column against a resilient Saints unit next Sunday.
Sep 29, 2022
Another strong effort Thursday
Burrow completed 20 of 31 passes for 287 yards with two touchdowns and non interceptions in the Bengals' 27-15 win over the Dolphins on Thursday night. He also rushed five times for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow had the benefit of improved pass protection for the second time in four days, and his final line is a byproduct of the extra time he had to scan the field. Burrow averaged an impressive 9.3 yards per attempt and was only sacked once, finishing with a quarterback rating of 115.9 for the night. The third-year signal-caller's most prolific connection was with Tee Higgins, who recorded seven receptions for 124 yards and a 59-yard touchdown grab down the left sideline in the second quarter. Burrow closed out his strong night with a two-yard scoring toss to Hayden Hurst with 1:52 remaining to seal the win, and he'll now get some extra down time before an AFC North road showdown against the Ravens a week from Sunday.

Rides hot start to first win
Burrow completed 23 of 36 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns while rushing five times for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 27-12 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Burrow threw for 95 yards on the opening drive, which he capped with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Samaje Perine, and he finished the first quarter with 163 yards and two touchdowns after linking up with Tyler Boyd for a 56-yard touchdown on the final play of the quarter. A five-yard touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase put the Bengals up 27-9 in the third quarter, but the Bengals were otherwise content milking the clock on offense en route to their first win of 2022. Burrow will bring a 6:4 TD:INT into Thursday's Week 4 clash with the undefeated Dolphins.
Sep 18, 2022
No protection again in Week 2
Burrow completed 24 of 36 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown while gaining 26 yards on four carries in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
After getting sacked seven times in a Week 1 loss to the Steelers, Burrow was running for his life once again in Dallas and got taken down six more times. Despite the issues in front of him on the offensive line, the third-year QB still rallied the Bengals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 17-17 with less than four minutes left, only for the Cowboys to kick a game-winning FG as time expired. Cincinnati is a surprising 0-2 to begin the season, but Burrow may have a little more time to operate in Week 3 against a Jets defense that has managed only three sacks in two games so far and has surrendered 27.0 points a game.
Sep 11, 2022
Major struggles in home loss
Burrow completed 33-of-53 pass attempts for 338 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions against Pittsburgh on Sunday while losing a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was gutsy enough in what must have been a painful game (seven sacks and 11 hits), but he simply did not play well. While it's true that he dealt with an unacceptable amount of pressure, it's also true that he didn't handle most of those situations well. It certainly didn't help that Tee Higgins left early with a concussion, especially since Cincinnati lacks receiver depth, so hopefully Higgins is recovered and cleared before Cincinnati's Week 2 matchup with Dallas. The Dallas pass rush and secondary could be another turnover trap for Burrow if he doesn't shake off his Week 1 struggles, high-upside as the matchup might be for Burrow otherwise.

Cleared for Week 1
Burrow (appendix) is not listed on the Bengals' Week 1 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who underwent an appendectomy July 26, is thus in line to start Sunday's regular season opener against the Steelers. Another player whose name is absent from the Bengals' Wednesday injury report is Tee Higgins (shoulder), which ensures that Burrow will have his top three wide receivers (Ja'Marr Chase, Higgins and Tyler Boyd) available this weekend.
Aug 24, 2022
Increases practice level
Burrow (appendix) is slated to practice without limitations Wednesday, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow, who is bouncing back from an appendectomy that he underwent on July 26, continues to progress, but Ben Baby of ESPN.com notes that the QB is still working his way back from the procedure. "I could go out there and play but I'm not where I want to be yet," Burrow acknowledged Wednesday. In any case, the Bengals' franchise signal caller appears on track to be ready to start the team's Week 1 contest against the Steelers.
Aug 17, 2022
Returns to team drills
Burrow (appendix) returned to team drills Wednesday but acknowledged he'd still like to gain weight before Week 1, ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow reportedly spent a ew days in the hospital after a ruptured appendix prompted an appendectomy July 26. He returned to 7-on-7s on Monday and is now back in team drills, but he's not necessarily back to 100 percent strength less than a month after surgery. The Bengals seemingly expect him to get there in time for their season opener Sept. 11 against Pittsburgh.
Aug 14, 2022
Logs 7-on-7 reps Sunday
Burrow (appendix) participated in 7-on-7 drills during his return to practice Sunday, Ben Baby of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first practice since having his appendix removed, Burrow was eased back into the mix, but he actually did more Sunday than coach Zac Taylor had anticipated. "We talked about doing two reps in 7-on-7," Taylor noted after practice. "And then he took 10. That's how it goes sometimes." Though it's uncertain when Burrow will resume practicing fully, the Bengals' franchise QB has ample time to ready himself for the team's Week 1 contest, at home against the Steelers.
Aug 14, 2022
Goes through walkthrough Sunday
Burrow (appendix) went through the Bengals' walkthrough practice Sunday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow threw some passes during last Monday's practice, marking the first time reporters had seen him do any on-field activity, and he appears to be taking the necessary steps to being cleared for Week 1 of the regular season. The talented quarterback underwent an appendectomy July 26, but the team has remained confident he'll be ready when the games start to count, even if he doesn't see any action during the preseason.
Aug 10, 2022
Won't play in preseason opener
Burrow (appendix) won't play in Friday's preseason matchup with Arizona, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow never had a shot to play and doesn't seem likely to make more than one brief appearance this preseason, if he plays at all. He threw some short passes during Monday's practice, marking the first time since a July 26 appendectomy that reporters had seen the QB do any type of on-field activity. Burrow returned to meetings shortly after surgery and is expected to be ready for Week 1.
Aug 8, 2022
First activity since surgery Monday
Burrow (appendix) was seen throwing some light passes at the end of Monday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Earlier Monday, Burrow was able to get around the practice field without a cart, like he had been doing of late, and he proceeded to log his first activity as well. Baby relayed that Burrow was taking snaps, went through his reads and tossed the ball back to a member of the Bengals' equipment staff. After he underwent an appendectomy July 26, Burrow was given a recovery timeline of 2-to-3 weeks, so he is approaching the front end of that timetable. Still, the team isn't likely to rush its franchise quarterback back to the field with the aim to have him running on all cylinders by Week 1, when he again will have a wealth of skill-position talent at his disposal.
Aug 8, 2022
Not using cart
Burrow (appendix) is getting around practice without a cart, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow returned to team meetings shortly after his late-July appendectomy and seems to be recovering along the normal timeline of 2-3 weeks. The Bengals don't figure to rush him, given their continuity at the offensive skill positions and with their offensive coaching staff. They do have two or three new starters on the offensive line, all of whom profile as upgrades. Burrow is in a great situation to continue his efficient passing from last year, with the only real downside being that he hasn't used his legs the way he did at LSU. Still, he's a solid QB1, though perhaps without the fantasy ceiling of a Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts.
Aug 5, 2022
Deemed day-to-day
Burrow (appendix) is considered day-to-day and has been present for meetings at training camp, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow presumably was able to continue working on the mental side of the game within a few days of undergoing surgery last Tuesday (July 26). Early reports suggested he could be miss two or three weeks, but it won't be shocking if it's a bit less than that. The relatively minor surgery, an appendectomy, shouldn't end up having too much impact on either his perceived fantasy value or his in-season performance.
Jul 27, 2022
Return timetable TBD
Coach Zac Taylor said Burrow (stomach) underwent successful surgery to remove his appendix Tuesday and will be discharged Wednesday, and that a timetable for his return to the field is unknown, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor said he isn't too worried about Burrow's current absence because new offense installs will be addressed later in training camp, per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer. In the meantime, Brandon Allen will likely handle the bulk of first-team reps. While Burrow's availability for preseason action looks iffy, there's no signs that the Bengals have any concerns about his Week 1 availability.
Jul 26, 2022
Having appendix removed
Burrow (knee) is undergoing surgery to remove his appendix and will miss some practice time in the coming weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Given the typical recovery timeline for an appendix removal, Burrow should be back at practice around mid-August or even a bit sooner. This does put his availability for the preseason in doubt, though he likely wouldn't have played much even without any health concerns. Burrow avoided surgery on a left MCL sprain this offseason and was able to practice without a knee brace at June minicamp.
Jun 15, 2022
Sheds knee brace
Burrow (knee) is practicing Wednesday without a brace on his left leg, Tribune-ReviewSports reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow wore a brace on his left knee all last season, after suffering ACL and MCL injuries to that side as a rookie. The 25-year-old also battled an MCL sprain in his right knee down the stretch of 2021's playoff run, which culminated in a narrow Super Bowl loss to the Rams, but he didn't need to undergo offseason surgery. Burrow has been taking part in spring practices, and though the Bengals haven't yet officially announced the quarterback receiving full medical clearance, everything appears to be trending in the right direction. Burrow was the most-sacked quarterback in the NFL last season (51), but he heads into the 2022 campaign with a revamped offensive line. Cincinnati kicks off training camp July 30.
May 2, 2022
Reports for offseason workouts
Burrow (knee) reported for the start of Cincinnati's offseason workouts Monday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow is recovering from a left MCL sprain, but he avoided surgery for the injury, and the Bengals haven't expressed any significant public concern about the star quarterback's health. It remains to be seen, however, whether Burrow's rehab has progressed enough for him to begin offseason activities without any limitations. In any case, Burrow will now benefit from another offseason to build chemistry with top wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins (shoulder), the latter of whom is recovering from left labrum surgery.
Feb 16, 2022
No surgery needed for MCL sprain
Coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that Burrow (knee/hand) has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow is also nursing a pinky injury, per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site, but he shouldn't require surgery to address either issue. Additionally, Taylor categorized Burrow's MCL injury as a re-aggravation of the issue he dealt with in December. Based on rest being Burrow's recovery prognosis, it appears that he should have a fair shot at being ready for the start of spring practices.
Feb 15, 2022
Shouldn't need offseason surgery
Burrow isn't expected to need surgery on the knee injury he suffered in the final minutes of the Super Bowl, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While the injury likely impacted his mobility late in the fourth quarter, Burrow never missed a snap. Still, it's apparently serious enough to require some type of rehab process, which Burrow should have time to complete before spring practices in May and June. Rapoport says the injury "shouldn't drastically alter [Burrow's] offseason."
Feb 13, 2022
Overcome by pressure
Burrow completed 22 of 33 passes for 263 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 23-20 Super Bowl LVI loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's highlight reel play of the game came on the first snap of the second half, when he connected with Tee Higgins for a 75-yard touchdown. However, besides that connection, Burrow managed only 5.9 yards per attempt and was under consistent pressure in the final two quarters of the contest. Despite the disappointing end to the campaign, Burrow led Cincinnati to an impressive postseason run that included upset wins over the Titans and Chiefs -- two of the favorites in the AFC. He'll now turn his focus to the 2022 season, with each of Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase and Joe Mixon all back as his primary offensive weapons.
Jan 30, 2022
Leads Bengals to Super Bowl
Burrow completed 23 of 38 passes for 250 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 27-24 win over Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Burrow and the entire Bengals offense got off to a slow start, as they managed only three points through the first 29 minutes of game time. However, he connected with Samaje Perine on a screen pass that went for a 41-yard touchdown just before halftime. Burrow then led the team to three scoring drives in four possessions spanning the third and fourth quarters, highlighted by a two-yard touchdown toss to Ja'Marr Chase. That scoring spree gave the team the chance to seal the upset win in overtime. In addition to scoring plays, Burrow added in two completions of more than 20 yards, one to Chase and the other to Tee Higgins. Burrow will look to complete his incredible postseason run with a Super Bowl victory over either the Rams or 49ers.
Jan 22, 2022
Headed to AFC Championship Game
Burrow completed 28 of 37 passes for 348 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 19-16 divisional-round win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was under constant pressure -- he was sacked nine times and hit on several other occasions -- but still managed to move the Bengals' offense effectively for the majority of the game. He distributed the ball well Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase and C.J. Uzomah and connected with the trio for five completions of over 20 yards. The end result was that Burrow reached 300 passing yards for the fifth in his last seven games. He capped the effort with a 19-yard completion to put the Bengals in range for a game-winning field goal and will now head into the AFC Championship game against either Buffalo or Kansas City.
Jan 15, 2022
Solid playoffs debut
Burrow completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 244 yards and two touchdowns against Las Vegas on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The numbers are modest at a glance, but the Bengals controlled this game from start to finish and it's possible that they could have done more if they needed to. With that said, Burrow did most of his damage early, throwing one touchdown to each of Tyler Boyd and C.J. Uzomah in roughly the first third of the game and not doing a whole lot afterward. With higher stakes in the second playoff round it's possible that Burrow and the Bengals take a more aggressive approach.
Jan 11, 2022
Back to full practice
Burrow (knee) practiced fully Tuesday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In his last appearance Week 17, Burrow limped off the field moments before Evan McPherson's (groin) game-winning field goal in a 34-31 victory against the Chiefs. He eventually followed a DNP/LP/FP practice regimen during prep for the season finale, and while he entered this past weekend as questionable, he didn't travel with the Bengals and was ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest at Cleveland. Burrow's knee injury may have been fortuitous, as he was able to get a week of rest ahead of Saturday's wild-card matchup with the Raiders. He also enters the postseason red hot, having posted at least 440 yards and four touchdowns through the air in back-to-back contests before sitting Week 18.
Jan 8, 2022
Downgraded to out
Burrow (knee/rest) will not travel to Cleveland and has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The plan all along has been to rest Burrow so this hardly is a surprise. Ben Baby of ESPN.com did relay the second-year quarterback was a full participant in Friday's practice essentially confirming Burrow's designation is simply a procedural one. Expect the star quarterback to face no such limitations when the Bengals square off against their playoff opponent next week.
Jan 7, 2022
Listed as questionable for Sunday
Burrow (knee/rest) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ben Baby of ESPN.com relays that the QB was listed as a full practice participant Friday, but the plan this weekend is to rest Burrow with the postseason in mind, which sets the stage for Brandon Allen to start Sunday. It remains to be seen, however, if Burrow is in uniform versus Cleveland, though fellow signal caller Jake Browning is a potential practice squad elevation and could back up Allen in Week 18.
Jan 6, 2022
Limited Thursday
Burrow (knee/rest) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Burrow was back on the field after sitting out Wednesday's session entirely, his practice activity shouldn't be taken as evidence that he'll play in Sunday's regular-season finale in Cleveland. Head coach Zac Taylor and Burrow himself have both already said that the signal-caller won't start Sunday, with the Bengals instead planning to hold him out to preserve his health for the playoffs. Brandon Allen is in line to pick up the Week 18 start, though Burrow could still be active as his backup if the Bengals don't add another quarterback to the roster before Saturday's transaction deadline.
Jan 6, 2022
Back at practice
Burrow (knee) was present for Thursday's practice, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was rested during Wednesday's session, but his return to the field Thursday supports the notion that the knee issue that he's managing isn't a major one. That said, the plan is for Burrow to not start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Browns, with backup QB Brandon Allen in line to draw the Week 18 assignment.
Jan 5, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Burrow (rest/knee)didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per ESPN's Ben Baby, Burrow plans to practice at some point this week. While the QB indicates that he's healthy enough to play in Week 18, it's expected that he'll be rested Sunday against the Browns, while Brandon Allen draws the starting assignment for Cincinnati.
Jan 5, 2022
Not expected to start Sunday
Burrow (knee) doesn't expect to play Sunday against the Browns, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow indicated Wednesday that his knee is "sore, but not bad" while adding that he could play in Week 18 if needed. However, with the looming postseason in mind, it looks like he'll sit out the Bengals' regular-season finale, which would set the stage for Brandon Allen to start this weekend. Supporting the notion that Burrow's knee issue isn't a major concern is that he expects to participate in practice this week, Ben Baby of ESPN.com.
Jan 4, 2022
Could be rest candidate
Head coach Zac Taylor said he hasn't decided whether Burrow (leg) or any other key starters will rest for Sunday's game against the Browns with the Bengals having already secured a playoff spot, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Cincinnati enters Week 18 in the No. 3 spot in the AFC standings, but they could have the opportunity to clinch the No. 1 seed with a win and losses by the Titans, Chiefs and Patriots or a win plus a Bills win and losses by the Titans and Chiefs. That may incentivize Taylor enough to put his best players on the field, even though Burrow could probably benefit from some rest after the quarterback acknowledged his leg got twisted late in late week's win over Kansas City. At any rate, Burrow's injury doesn't look to be a major concern, so his play shouldn't be compromised if he does in fact suit up this weekend. Burrow handsomely rewarded those who kept him active in fantasy playoffs matchups Week 16 and 17, as he combined for eight touchdown passes and 971 yards through the air between those contests.
Jan 2, 2022
Banged up late in huge win
Burrow completed 30 of 39 passes for 446 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Chiefs. He added 10 yards on five rushing attempts, but Field Yares of ESPN reports that Burrow was sidelined for the game's final few plays after taking a hit and hobbling off the field.
ANALYSIS
After falling in an early 14-0 hole, Burrow connected with Ja'Marr Chase for a 72-yard touchdown. The Chiefs restored their 14-point lead on the ensuing drive, only for Burrow to answer again with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Chase. Burrow threw his third touchdown to Chase in the third quarter - this time from 69 yards out - before finally giving the Bengals the lead with a five-yard strike to Tyler Boyd early in the fourth quarter. The second-year quarterback engineered most of the game-winning drive late in the fourth, but backup Brandon Allen entered for a kneel down and a spike after Burrow limped off, setting up Evan McPherson's game-winning field goal as time expired. Assuming Burrow's injury doesn't affect his availability for Week 18 against the Browns, he'll go into the season finale with a whopping 971 passing yards and eight touchdowns over his last two games.
Dec 26, 2021
Enormous production
Burrow completed 37 of 46 pass attempts for 525 yards and four touchdowns against Baltimore on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow did almost whatever he wanted against a badly depleted Ravens secondary, propelling each of his three standout wide receivers to big fantasy production Sunday, especially Tee Higgins (12 receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns) and Ja'Marr Chase (seven receptions for 125 yards). Burrow and the Bengals face a tougher matchup against the Chiefs in Week 17, but hopefully this monstrous breakout game helps the Bengals offense reach a new level of confidence as they make their playoff push.
Dec 19, 2021
Makes most of limited volume
Burrow completed 15 of 22 pass attempts for 157 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
As indicated by the score, this matchup was dominated by the defensive units. As a result, Burrow's volume was limited, and his 22 pass attempts were his lowest mark since Week 3. Even so, he was fairly efficient when he did take to the air, with the highlight of his performance being a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd late in the third quarter. While Burrow had racked up decent yardage in his last two games, he has now failed to throw for multiple touchdowns in five of his last six games.
Dec 16, 2021
Takes all practice reps Thursday
Burrow (finger) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's return to the field as a full participant confirms that his absence from Wednesday's session was maintenance-related. The quarterback initially suffered the injury to a finger on his throwing hand in the Bengals' Week 13 loss to the Chargers, but he played through the issue Week 14 and turned in one of his better outings of the season in a 26-23 overtime loss to San Francisco, finishing with 25 completions on 34 attempts for 348 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Dec 16, 2021
Back at practice
Burrow (finger) returned to practice Thursday, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals' upcoming injury report will reveal the QB's participation level, but as expected Burrow was back on the field Thursday after being held out of Wednesday's session, as he continues to manage an issue with the pinkie finger on his throwing hand.
Dec 15, 2021
Will be rested Wednesday
Burrow (finger) won't practice Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The report relays via coach Zac Taylor that there isn't any concern about Burrow's ability to perform in games, but the QB will be held out of Wednesday's session in order to rest his pinkie finger. Per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site, it seems plausible that Burrow will follow a similar pattern to last week, when he followed his initial 'DNP' with a limited session Thursday and then a full one Friday.
Dec 12, 2021
Big numbers in tough loss
Burrow completed 25 of 34 passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals' offense was sluggish through three quarters but Burrow caught fire in the fourth, hitting Ja'Marr Chase for a pair of scores to force extra time and then leading Cincy to a field goal on the opening possession of OT. Unfortunately, San Francisco responded with a touchdown when they got their turn with the ball. Burrow's dislocated pinkie finger didn't stop him from reaching 300 yards for the second straight game and tossing multiple TDs for the first time since Week 8, but he faces a tough test in Week 15 on the road against the Broncos.
Dec 10, 2021
Clear for Week 14
Burrow (finger) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow emerged from Week 13 action versus the Chargers with a balky pinkie finger, which he dislocated but was able to play through en route to 24-for-40 passing for 300 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. While he didn't practice Wednesday and was a limited participant Thursday, he capped the week with a full session Friday, clearing him to suit up Sunday. Coach Zac Taylor told Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site that Burrow won't have any limitations Week 14, but there are question marks in the Bengals skill positions, as the statuses of both running back Joe Mixon (illness) and Tee Higgins (ankle) are up in the air heading into the weekend.
Dec 9, 2021
Limited in return to practice
Burrow (finger/knee) logged a limited practice Thursday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was listed as a non-participant Wednesday, so the QB's return to a limited session bodes well for his chances of being cleared to start Sunday's game against the 49ers. Per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site, Burrow "appeared to throw free and easy" during the early portion of Thursday's practice, as he continue to manage a pinky issue on his throwing hand. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Burrow heads into the weekend with an official injury designation, but for his part the signal caller doesn't anticipate being sidelined versus San Fransisco.
Dec 8, 2021
Logs DNP on Wednesday
Burrow (right finger/knee) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site, the team opted to hold the QB out of drills Wednesday in order to rest his dislocated throwing pinky. That said, at this stage Burrow -- who is evidently also managing a knee issue -- maintains that he doesn't foresee missing Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Dec 8, 2021
Plans to work Wednesday
Burrow relayed Wednesday that his right pinkie finger is feeling better, despite a degree swelling, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow -- who hasn't thrown since Sunday -- added that he plans to practice a little bit Wednesday. Whether that translates into him officially being listed as a limited participant remains to be seen, but in any case, the signal-caller maintains that he doesn't foresee missing Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Dec 6, 2021
Could be limited in practice
Head coach Zac Taylor said Burrow could be limited in practice for the start of Week 14 prep after dislocating his right pinkie finger in Sunday's 41-22 loss to the Chargers, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Ben Baby of ESPN.com, Taylor noted that Burrow "feels good" after playing through the injury Sunday, but the second-year quarterback could get some extra maintenance early on this week in any case to relieve some of the pressure on his pinkie finger. Unless the finger swells up and presents more difficulty with his throwing in practice than expected, Burrow doesn't look to be at any major risk of missing the Bengals' upcoming game against the 49ers this weekend.
Dec 5, 2021
Managers finger injury in loss
Burrow completed 24 of 40 passes for 300 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in the Bengals' 41-22 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He also rushed once for six yards and lost a fumble, the latter a first-quarter play on which he suffered a a dislocated pinkie finger, Marisa Contipelli of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's injury ultimately didn't lead to a sub-par fantasy day by any stretch, even though the two interceptions were certainly a blemish on his day. However, the 2020 first overall pick hit the 300-yard mark for the third time this season and extended his streak with at least one touchdown pass to three games when he connected with Tee Higgins on a 29-yard scoring toss to start a comeback from 24-0. Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports Burrow stated after the game the injury will not cause him to miss any games, "unless it somehow gets worse." Assuming that's indeed the case, Burrow will be under center aiming to help the Bengals get over this disastrous home loss in a Week 14 interconference showdown against the visiting 49ers.
Nov 28, 2021
Responsible for two TDs in win
Burrow completed 20 of 24 pass attempts for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception while scoring another touchdown on an eight-yard rush in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals' defense and rushing attack led the charge in an important win over an AFC North rival, but Burrow was able to get in on the ground onslaught with a touchdown of his own. It was the 24-year-old's first rushing score of the season after posting three in his shortened rookie campaign. Burrow has failed to top 200 passing yards over his last two contests after averaging 309.5 yards over his previous six. The Bengals may need to rely on its rising star quarterback against a high-powered Chargers offense next Sunday.
Nov 21, 2021
Rides running game to win
Burrow completed 20 of 29 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Raiders. He gained 11 rushing yards on three carries.
ANALYSIS
The yardage total was his lowest of the season, and the second-year QB also lost a fumble, but Burrow didn't have to do too much on a day in which Joe Mixon was running wild. After tossing multiple TDs in eight straight games to begin the season, Burrow has managed only one score in his last two, a slump he'll look to break out of in Week 12 against the Steelers.
Nov 7, 2021
Held without a TD by Browns
Burrow completed 28 of 40 passes for 282 yards and two interceptions while adding one yard on two rushing attempts in Sunday's 41-16 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Burrow led Cincinnati down to Cleveland's three-yard line on the opening drive but then threw a disastrous interception that Browns cornerback Denzel Ward took the other way for a touchdown. The Bengals' offense bounced back on the ensuing drive, marching downfield again and this time punching it in with an 11-yard Joe Mixon rushing touchdown to tie the game. It was all Cleveland after that, though, as Burrow failed to throw a touchdown pass after having tossed multiple scores in every previous game this season. Burrow will have to stew over this disappointing performance over Cincinnati's Week 10 bye before traveling to Vegas in Week 11.
Oct 31, 2021
Takes haunting loss on Halloween
Burrow completed 21 of 34 passes for 259 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Jets. His lone rushing attempt went for minus-1 yard.
ANALYSIS
After the Jets failed to challenge a 26-yard Tee Higgins catch on which the ball appeared to hit the ground, Burrow made them pay by finding Ja'Marr Chase two plays later for a two-yard touchdown to take a 14-7 second-quarter lead. He had another sequence with a big play to Higgins accompanied by a touchdown pass in the third quarter, following up a 54-yard gain with an eight-yard score to Joe Mixon on the very next play. Burrow added a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd to take a 31-20 lead with 7:29 to go, but New York stormed back with 14 unanswered points down the stretch to stun the Bengals, aided by a Burrow interception. The only quarterback in the league with multiple touchdown passes in every game this season will remain a high-floor play at home against the Browns in Week 9.

Leads team to victory with huge day
Burrow completed 23 of 38 pass attempts for 416 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 41-17 rout of the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was having a relatively normal performance in a tight contest before absolutely going off on Baltimore's secondary in the second half. The 24-year-old connected on huge touchdown strikes to Ja'Marr Chase (82 yards) and C.J. Uzomah (55 yards) to put the game out of reach and seal the Bengals' first win against the Lamar Jackson era Ravens (1-5). Burrow's 17th touchdown already smashed his rookie total of 13, and he accomplished the feat in three less games. He will look to continue his rapid progression as a star quarterback against the Jets next Sunday.
Oct 17, 2021
Three touchdown passes in win
Burrow completed 19 of 29 passes for 271 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the Bengals' 34-11 win over the Lions on Sunday. He also rushed five times for 20 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals walked into the road contest as big road favorites, and although it took them a bit to get clicking, the final result was a runaway win. Burrow contributed with touchdown throws of 40, two and seven yards to the eclectic trio of Joe Mixon, C.J. Uzomah and Auden Tate, his sixth multi-touchdown performance in as many games to open 2021. The second-year quarterback has over 260 passing yards in all but two contests as well, keeping his fantasy value robust in all formats going into a tricky Week 7 divisional road battle against the Ravens.

Will be available Sunday
Burrow (throat) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest in Detroit, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Following the Bengals' Week 5 loss to the Packers, Burrow paid a visit to the hospital as a precaution due to a throat contusion. While he practiced in full all week, he had limitations on one front, as coach Zac Taylor told Baby on Wednesday that Burrow would operate under 'voice rest.' Still, Burrow will be available and under center Sunday versus a Lions defense that has allowed a league-worst 9.96 yards per attempt to opposing quarterbacks this season.
Oct 13, 2021
Logs full practice listing
Burrow (throat) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Ben Baby of ESPN.com, Burrow, who was evaluated Sunday for a throat contusion, is on what coach Zac Taylor describes as "voice rest," but wideout Tee Higgins indicated that Burrow's communication during Wednesday's walk-through was normal. Burrow's status for Sunday's game against Detroit thus appears secure, barring any setbacks. The 0-5 Lions are allowing an average of 251.6 passing yards per game date, while Burrow heads into Week 6 ranked 18th in the league with 1,269 passing yards to go along with an 11:6 TD:INT ratio.

Stellar showing in close win
Burrow completed 25 of 32 passes for 348 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bengals' 24-21 win over the Jaguars on Thursday night. He also rushed three times for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow led the Bengals' second-half charge after Cincinnati surprisingly found itself down 14-0 at halftime. The 2020 first overall pick outdueled this year's top selection Trevor Lawrence over the final two quarters, with a pair of touchdown passes to C.J. Uzomah and numerous key completions to Tyler Boyd and Ja'Marr Chase critical to the hosts outscoring Jacksonville by a 24-7 margin over the final 30 minutes. Burrow ultimately finished the second half with a 152.1 passer rating and capped off his performance by helming a 10-play, 73-yard march that culminated in Evan McPherson's game-winning field goal. Burrow and the Bengals will savor the win for the moment and then will start preparing to host the Packers in a Week 5 showdown a week from Sunday.
Sep 26, 2021
Tosses three TDs in road win
Burrow completed 14 of 18 passes for 172 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers. He added seven yards on five rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
Burrow was picked off in the first quarter, but Ben Roethlisberger gave it right back with an interception of his own, and Burrow capitalized with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd to open the scoring. After the Steelers tied it with 1:04 left before halftime, Burrow responded with a 34-yard strike to Ja'Marr Chase just 27 seconds later to take a 14-10 lead in the locker room. A nine-yard touchdown pass to Chase -- Burrow's fourth touchdown to the rookie receiver in three games -- extended the Bengals' lead to 24-7 in the third quarter. The defense held up from there, moving Cincinnati to 2-1 heading into Thursday's visit from the Jaguars for a Week 4 clash.
Sep 19, 2021
Uneven effort Week 2
Burrow completed 19 of 30 passes for 207 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in Sunday's 20-17 loss in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
After posting 261 yards and two TDs without an interception during a Week 1 victory against the Vikings, Burrow fell back to earth a bit, posting the first turnovers of his second campaign. His first one was particularly backbreaking, as a pass intended for Tyler Boyd near midfield was picked off and returned to the house to put the Bears up, 17-3, with just under 11 minutes remaining in the game. However, Burrow made up for the foibles with two garbage-time scores to Ja'Marr Chase (42 yards) and Tee Higgins (seven yards) in the last five minutes of action. Burrow will attempt to bounce back next Sunday in a road matchup with the Steelers.
Sep 16, 2021
More snaps under center
Burrow took 53 percent of Sunday's snaps under center, after averaging around 80 percent of his snaps in shotgun formation last year, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The change possibly signals that the Bengals are more committed to the running game this season, particularly in OL coach Frank Pollack's wide zone-centric scheme, and that taking snaps under center suggests that play-action can be more effective. Of course, it's also easier to emphasize the run and taking snaps under center when you already have the lead, as the Bengals did for most of the second half last week.
Sep 12, 2021
Tosses two TDs in triumphant return
Burrow completed 20 of 27 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over Minnesota. He added two yards on one rushing attempt.
ANALYSIS
After failing to generate any points for most of the first half, Burrow tossed a pair of touchdowns in the final two minutes before halftime. He found Tee Higgins for a two-yard score with 1:51 remaining, then connected with rookie fifth-overall pick Ja'Marr Chase for a 50-yard touchdown just 1:16 later. Burrow was largely quiet besides that burst but did enough to lead his team to the overtime win after Minnesota overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit -- his 32-yard pass to C.J. Uzomah to convert 4th-and-1 in the final minute of overtime set up Cincinnati's game-winning field goal. Most importantly, the second-year quarterback looked healthy and comfortable in his return from season-ending knee surgery, though he did spend some time on the stationary bike, per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer. Burrow and the Bengals will travel to Chicago in Week 2.
Aug 29, 2021
Back in action Sunday
Burrow played the opening series in the Bengals' 29-26 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Sunday, misfiring on his only pass attempt.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Zac Taylor apparently didn't want to deviate from his plan of only having Burrow handle the opening possession, regardless of how short that drive ended up being. As it turned out, the Bengals actually went backwards with the second-year signal caller under center due to an unnecessary roughness penalty, and Burrow's only attempt, which went to Ja'Marr Chase, was incomplete due to a drop on the rookie receiver's part. Having broken the ice, albeit briefly, with respect to getting back into game action before the regular season, Burrow and his teammates will now look ahead to the Week 1 battle versus the Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 12.
Aug 25, 2021
To log preseason snaps Sunday
Burrow will see action in Sunday's preseason finale versus the Dolphins, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While the QB is poised to see game action for the first time since last November, when he sustained a season-ending knee injury, we don't expect Burrow to log extended work Sunday. With that in mind, coach Zac Taylor acknowledged that the 2020 No. 1 overall pick's stint against Miami will "be very limited. We'll be smart with what we do." In any case, Burrow's looming preseason appearance further solidifies that he'll be good to go in Week 1, when the Bengals host the Vikings.
Aug 16, 2021
Won't face Washington
Coach Zac Taylor said Monday that Burrow will not suit up for Friday's preseason game against Washington, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow has not been ruled out for the entirety of the preseason, but he will at least miss the Bengals' second exhibition contest. It's reasonable for the team to take a cautious approach to Burrow's return to game-action, given the severity of the injury he's working his way back from. Cincinnati's offense has regularly struggled with Burrow under center during the early portion of training camp, and though the franchise quarterback may not yet have regained full confidence in his knee, all indications are that he remains on track for Week 1.
Aug 12, 2021
Some preseason action possible
While Burrow (knee) will not play in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay on Sunday, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor didn't rule him out for the entirety of the preseason, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow is still on track to start Week 1 of the regular season. "I'm not ruling anything out for the further games," Taylor said. "All I'm ready to speak on is Week 1. Those are the decisions we've made. It will be a quick turnaround next week for Washington, so we'll make those decisions relatively early in the week. And then Miami, we've got a lot more time before we play that third game."
Aug 7, 2021
No go for preseason opener
Burrow (knee) will not play in the preseason opener next week, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
This shouldn't be a surprise whatsoever given the team's cautious nature regarding their franchise quarterback. Burrow has struggled through the first few days of training camp to gain any sort of confidence in his pocket awareness, a seemingly natural progression in his return from a torn ACL and MCL. A lack of confidence in his knee, and his offensive line, could have disastrous effects in live-game action so it's hard to see the team trotting out the 2020 No. 1 overall selection unless the Bengals were completely certain Burrow's mental hiccups were a thing of the past.
Aug 4, 2021
Offensive struggling mightily
The Bengals defense has dominated the offense so far in training camp, putting intense pressure on Burrow and the Bengals' quarterbacks, Jay Morrison and Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
There were two big concerns about Burrow heading into the season - how mobile would he be after recovering from a torn ACL and MCL, and would his offensive line do a better job protecting him? So far, the answers to the second question haven't been positive at all. It can be frequent that the defense will be ahead of the offense at this time of year, but the way the imbalance has been described ("... most lopsided practice in a long time ...") is certainly disturbing.
Jul 25, 2021
Opening camp healthy
Burrow (knee) is healthy and will be on the field for the start of training camp this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals placed WR Riley Lees (undisclosed) and Renell Wren (quadriceps) on the PUP list Sunday, and Burrow apparently won't be joining them and will be ready to practice this week. The 2020 first-overall pick's rookie campaign was derailed after 10 games due to a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, but he's had no hiccups in his rehab over the past eight-plus months. Burrow could still be brought along slowly early in camp if the Bengals want to remain cautious, but at this point his availability for Week 1 isn't in doubt.
Jun 16, 2021
Targeting healthy knee by camp
Burrow (knee) is aiming to be 100 percent healthy by the time training camp rolls around, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow estimated that his knee was at about 85 percent during minicamp, and he had no setbacks during any of the nine organized team activities during the offseason. He will has some work to do to get ready for training camp toward the end of July, but he appears to be well on track to be available for the Bengals' season opener versus the Vikings.
May 18, 2021
"All systems go" for season opener
Burrow (knee) is considered "all systems go" for the Bengals' season-opener against the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. "He's on track for full go for the start of the season," Dr. Neal ElAttrache said.
ANALYSIS
The second-year quarterback continues to make encouraging progress in his recovery from reconstructive knee surgery in December and it appears a Week 1 return is not just possible, but expected. Per Schefter, the doctors will restrict Burrow from taking contact until nine months out from the surgery, which could mean no preseason reps. Still, things continue to trend in the right direction for Burrow and he is on track to be ready for the start of the season even if he is limited through training camp.
Apr 30, 2021
Reunited with college teammate
The Bengals added another elite pass-catching option for Burrow (knee) in the first-round Thursday, drafting college teammate Ja'Marr Chase from LSU.
ANALYSIS
Given Justin Jefferson's production in his rookie year in 2020, it's easy to forget that it was Chase that actually led the way during Burrow's Heisman Trophy season in 2019. Burrow now has three excellent wideouts in Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins and Chase; hopefully, his offensive linemen will buy him more time this season to find them.
Apr 21, 2021
On track for Week 1
Burrow (knee) is "very optimistic" about his rehab progress and expects to play Week 1, SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Working his way back from Dec. 2 surgery on an ACL tear, Burrow has now resumed throwing from a dropback, in addition to running and weightlifting. He isn't doing rollouts or any change-of-direction work, but that's to be expected at this middle stage of the rehab process. The 24-year-old QB says he's ahead of schedule and even believes he'll be able to practice at some point this summer.
Jan 11, 2021
Returns to Cincinnati
Burrow (knee) is back in Cincinnati after spending the first phase of his rehab process in Los Angeles, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed surgery Dec. 2 in the L.A. area, 10 days after Burrow suffered ACL and MCL tears in his left knee. No setbacks have been reported so far, but the young QB still has a long process ahead, hoping to make it back for Week 1 of 2021. Burrow recently told Colin Cowherd that he's excited to continue working with Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, who was rumored to be on the hot seat but ultimately kept his job. Cincinnati has every opportunity to improve this offseason, holding the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and ranking sixth in the league in projected cap space ($42.1 million, per overthecap.com).
Dec 3, 2020
Undergoes successful surgery
Burrow underwent knee surgery Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals released a statement Thursday, noting that the rookie franchise QB "underwent successful surgery yesterday. The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery. Joe will begin the recovery process and we look forward to his return." Given the timing of Burrow's surgery, which will repair his damaged left ACL and MCL, it's unclear how close to 100 percent he'll be as the 2021 season approaches. In any case, now that the procedure been performed, the top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft can begin to embark on his recovery.
Nov 30, 2020
Surgery on tap
Burrow (knee) is scheduled to undergo surgery to address his torn left ACL this week, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Zac Taylor didn't offer a timetable for Burrow's return to Cincinnati, nor has he disclosed an official timeline for the rookie's recovery from a torn left ACL and MCL, plus additional ligament damage. Still, there appears to be optimism that Burrow could be ready to kick off the 2021 campaign as long as he can avoid setbacks in his rehab. Despite having his debut season cut short, Burrow set Bengals rookie records in terms of both completion percentage (65.3) and passing yards per game (268.8).
Nov 23, 2020
Placed on IR
The Bengals placed Burrow (torn ACL) on injured reserve Monday.
ANALYSIS
Burrow suffered a season-ending torn left ACL, MCL and additional ligament damage during Sunday's divisional loss against the Steelers, so his placement on injured reserve was only a matter of time. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that the Bengals anticipate an 8-to-9 month recovery timetable for Burrow, which would put him on track for the start of the 2021 season as long as he can avoid any setbacks. Ryan Finley replaced Burrow during Sunday's loss, and the Bengals have since promoted Brandon Allen from the practice squad.
Nov 23, 2020
Expected to be ready for 2021
The Bengals expect Burrow (torn ACL) to recover in time for the start of the 2021 season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow tore his left ACL and MCL during Sunday's loss to the Steelers, in addition to suffering other structural damage. Adam Schefter of ESPN has noted that such injuries usually carry a 9-to-12 month recovery timetable, which could put his availability for next year in jeopardy, but Ben Baby of ESPN.com's confirmation that coach Zac Taylor expects Burrow to be ready for 2021 would suggest that the Bengals are confident his recovery will be on the quicker end. The 23-year-old now faces a difficult rehab process, even barring any setbacks, but his strong performance through 10 games as a rookie should provide Cincinnati with more than enough confidence to continue building around him.
Nov 23, 2020
Multi-ligament injury confirmed
Burrow suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, in addition to other structural damage, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow sustained the injury to his left knee during Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Steelers, when his leg buckled awkwardly while taking a sack, and Monday's MRI has now confirmed the full extent of the damage done. The 23-year-old-signal caller is set to undergo season-ending reconstructive surgery in the near future, and he'll need to avoid any setbacks in his recovery in order to return by the start of the 2021 campaign. In 10 appearances with the Bengals as a rookie, Burrow recorded 2,688 passing yards and a 13:5 TD:INT, a pace which put him on track to set multiple rookie passing records. He also managed 143 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.
Nov 22, 2020
Torn ACL confirmed
The initial diagnosis has confirmed a torn ACL for Burrow, who will get an MRI on Monday to look for possible additional damage, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Even if no additional damage is found, the torn ACL alone will end Burrow's season, and he'll have to avoid any setbacks in his recovery to be ready by the start of next season. The 2020 first overall pick was on pace to set multiple rookie passing records and finishes his season with 2,688 passing yards and a 13:5 TD:INT in 10 games.
Nov 22, 2020
Torn ACL feared
The Bengals believe Burrow (knee) suffered a torn left ACL during Sunday's 20-9 loss to Washington, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Burrow's left leg bent awkwardly while taking a sack Sunday, and Cincinnati's initial diagnosis for his injury is a season-ending ACL tear. The rookie quarterback will receive an MRI to confirm the severity of his injury Monday, but given that he wrote "see ya next year" in a message shared via his official Twitter account, it looks like Burrow is destined to miss the rest of the 2020 season. Ryan Finley finished Sunday's loss in Burrow's stead, and Cincinnati also has Brandon Allen on the practice squad.
Nov 22, 2020
Appears done for the season
Ben Baby of ESPN.com relays that Burrow's first comments since injuring his left knee Sunday against Washington appear to rule the QB out for the rest of the season.
ANALYSIS
We'll look for added details and official confirmation of such an outcome, either way, but it doesn't look good for the young signal-caller, who tweeted in the aftermath of his injury "see ya next year." Ryan Finley took over for Burrow on Sunday and Brandon Allen is on Cincinnati's practice squad.
Nov 22, 2020
Carted off the field Sunday
Burrow (left knee) was carted off the field during Sunday's game against Washington, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
At first glance this looks like an injury that will cause the rookie QB to miss time. Ryan Finley is now slated to finish Sunday's game in place of Burrow.
Nov 15, 2020
Limited in Pittsburgh
Burrow completed 21 of 40 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Burrow moved the Bengals' offense down the field effectively on their first drive of the second quarter, connecting with three different receivers before tossing a two-yard touchdown to Tee Higgins. However, those were the team's final points until the middle of the fourth quarter on a drive that was largely powered by the run. The end result was one of Burrow's worst games as a pro, as he logged his lowest yardage total since Week 5. Burrow will work to bounce back against Washington in Week 12, though their strong pass rush has often held opposing offenses in check.
Nov 1, 2020
Produces efficiently in win
Burrow completed 26 of 37 pass attempts for 249 yards and two touchdowns while adding nine yards on three carries during Sunday's 31-20 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Burrow completed 70 percent of his pass attempts while spreading the ball around to seven different receivers, despite windy conditions. He completed touchdown passes to Gio Bernard and Tyler Boyd while avoiding a turnover for the first time in the last five games. Burrow has made the most of favorable matchups over the last two games, piling up 455 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception. He will now take the bye week to further improve his grasp of the offense before a challenging matchup with the Steelers in Week 10.
Oct 25, 2020
Tops 400 yards in loss
Burrow completed 35 of 47 passes for 406 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 37-34 loss to Cleveland. He also rushed six times for 34 yards and a touchdown and fumbled three times, losing one.
ANALYSIS
Burrow got the offense down to Cleveland's two-yard line on the opening drive before throwing an interception on 1st-and-goal. The rookie first overall pick bounced back by capping the following drive with his third rushing touchdown, using his 6-foot-3, 221-pound frame to push the pile on the second of back-to-back quarterback sneak calls from the one-yard line. He added an 11-yard passing score to Tyler Boyd in the final minute of the first half, and touchdowns of 16 yards to Tee Higgins and three yards to Giovani Bernard in the fourth quarter, but Burrow was ultimately out-dueled by Baker Mayfield, whose fifth touchdown put Cleveland ahead for good with 11 seconds to go. Between Burrow's five 300-yard passing performances in his first seven games and his willingness to get it done himself by the goal line, he has quickly established himself as an enticing fantasy quarterback option heading into a Week 8 date with the Titans.
Oct 18, 2020
Can't protect early lead
Burrow completed 25 of 39 passes for 313 yards and one interception while adding two yards on three carries during Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Burrow unexpectedly enjoyed a large early lead and deferred to the run game for much of the first half. Unfortunately, the Colts clawed their way back in the game, eventually taking the lead, and Burrow's interception on his last drive was the nail in the coffin. The rookie has now gone back-to-back weeks without a touchdown pass and owns a 6:4 TD:INT for the season despite reaching the 300-yard mark in four of the last five games. Burrow will look to take advantage of a rare favorable matchup next Sunday against the Browns.
Oct 11, 2020
Shut down by Ravens
Burrow went 19-for-30 passing with 183 yards, no touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 27-3 loss to Baltimore. He also ran for 10 yards on three carries, fumbling twice and committing one lost fumble.
ANALYSIS
It was a turbulent outing for the No. 1 overall pick in his debut against Wink Martindale's defense, as he was held to a season-low in passing, also failing to score a TD in a game for the first time in his career. A double whammy, Burrow committed multiple turnovers for the first time as an NFL player, in large part because the Ravens recorded an astronomical seven sacks on the young signal-caller. Burrow next faces a Colts defense that entered the weekend allowing a league-low 159.2 passing yards per game, but that showed glimpses of vulnerability in surrendering 261 passing yards and two passing TDs to the Browns on Sunday.
Oct 8, 2020
Not hitting deep balls
Burrow has connected on only one of his 20 attempts on passes thrown 20 or more yards beyond the line of scrimmage through four games, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a historically low percentage of completions of that type, since the stat first started being tracked, but it's not all attributable to Burrow's failings. He has missed on some of those throws, but he's also not been helped by his receivers in hauling those passes, plus opposing defenses have been trying to force him to throw more intermediate passes.
Oct 4, 2020
Throws for 300 in first win
Burrow completed 25 of 36 passes for 300 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 33-25 win over the Jaguars. He added four carries for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Burrow threw for 300 yards for a third consecutive week en route to his first NFL win. He had a would-be 16-yard touchdown to Tyler Boyd wiped out by a holding penalty in the first quarter, and the Bengals ended up settling for a field goal for the game's first points. Burrow was intercepted on 3rd-and-goal from the 1-yard line on the next possession, though it's tough to put that one on the quarterback, as Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack wrestled the ball away from tight end Drew Sample in the back of the end zone. The rookie quarterback finally got his team into the end zone with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Joe Mixon in the final minute of the first half, and Mixon took over in the second half with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Cincinnati's offense was able to dictate the game against the subpar Jaguars defense, but a repeat performance will be hard to come by against the Ravens on the road in Week 5.
Sep 27, 2020
Breaks 300-yard mark again
Burrow completed 31 of 44 pass attempts for 312 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 23-23 tie against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The No. 1 overall pick was running for his life throughout the contest, as he absorbed a jaw-dropping 18 QB hits and eight sacks during the 70-minute showdown. Just as he has throughout the early stages of his NFL career, however, Burrow maintained his composure, orchestrating a 12-play touchdown drive in the fourth quarter that provided his team with a seven-point lead at the 3:05 mark. Cincinnati's defense ultimately could not hold Philadelphia on the final drive of regulation, and the game remained at a stalemate in overtime, but reports on Burrow should be positive despite his team standing at 0-2-1 through three weeks. He'll next face a Jaguars defense that has surrendered six passing TDs over its past two outings.
Sep 17, 2020
Strong numbers in loss
Burrow completed 37 of 61 passes for 316 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bengals' 35-30 loss to the Browns on Thursday. He also rushed seven times for 19 yards and fumbled twice, losing one.
ANALYSIS
The rookie finished with a strong line despite much of his success coming in the shorter areas of the field, as evidenced by his 5.2 yards per attempt. Burrow did appear to take another step forward in his development through sheer volume of reps if nothing else, and he connected with three different pass catchers in C.J. Uzomah (Achilles), Mike Thomas and Tyler Boyd for his trio of scoring tosses. Burrow's last two scoring drives impressively covered extended stretches of the field, as he led the Bengals on marches of 83 yards on 14 plays and 75 yards over 16 plays in the fourth quarter. The 2020 first overall pick will now get some extra rest and practice time with which to rest his arm, work on ball security and build further rapport with his pass-catching corps ahead of a tough Week 3 road test against the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Sep 13, 2020
Shows off wheels in Week 1
Burrow completed 23 of 36 passes for 193 yards and one interception in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Chargers, but ran the ball eight times for 46 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
The rookie struggled early behind a porous Bengals offensive line, getting sacked three times in the first half, but Burrow still make an impact late in the first quarter by taking a designed QB draw 23 yards for his team's only TD. He then found his rhythm as a passer late and appeared to lead Cincy to a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, only for his three-yard TD pass to A.J. Green with 11 seconds left on the clock get overturned when Green was flagged for offensive pass interference. Burrow then had to watch from the bench as Randy Bullock shanked a 31-yard field goal that would have sent the game to overtime. The young quarterback showed why he was the first overall pick in the 2020 draft despite the disappointing outcome, and he won't often face a pass rush as dangerous as the one spearheaded by Joey Bosa -- although he will face Myles Garrett and the Browns on the road in Week 2.
Sep 11, 2020
Leading healthy offense
Burrow will lead a healthy offense into Sunday's game against the Chargers, as the Bengals don't have any offensive players on their Week 1 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Some might call it a minor miracle for both A.J. Green and John Ross to be healthy at the same time. In any case, the Bengals also have Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Tee Higgins at wide receiver, plus Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard in the backfield and C.J. Uzomah at tight end. Burrow has no shortage of options in the passing game, though it could be tricky to find open targets against a Chargers cornerback group comprised of Casey Hayward, Chris Harris and Desmond King.
Jul 28, 2020
Signs rookie deal
Burrow has agreed to terms with the Bengals a four-year contract worth $36.1 million, ESPN's Ben Baby reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, even before he was officially under contract, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft spent the offseason prepping for the opportunity to serve as the team's Week 1 starting QB. An offseason minus on-field reps adds a degree of difficulty to Burrow's transition to the pro game, but the LSU product will at least have a solid collection of wideouts to throw to once training camp practices commence. The group is headed by A.J. Green, with Tyler Boyd, John Ross and rookie Tee Higgins also in the mix.
