Joey Bosa Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Bills vs Texans game on Thursday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 11, 2025
Logs four stops Sunday
Bosa logged four solo tackles during Buffalo's loss to Miami on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa had a solid outing in the loss, although he was unable to extend his sack streak to three games. Across his first nine outings this season, the 30-year-old has totaled 23 tackles (13 solo), including 4.0 sacks, and will look to continue producing in the Week 11 matchup versus Tampa Bay.
Nov 7, 2025
Good to go
Bosa (wrist) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday and only logging a limited session Thursday, Bosa was a full practice participant Friday. The 30-year-old defensive end played 44 defensive snaps during the Bills' Week 9 victory over the Chiefs, recording three tackles (two solo) including 1.0 sacks. Cleared of injury designation, the starting end will suit up for a key divisional matchup Sunday as he looks to sack quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the first time this season.
Nov 6, 2025
Limited Thursday
Bosa (wrist) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa did not practice Wednesday, so it's encouraging to see him now upgrade to limited reps. If the veteran defensive end is able to practice in full Friday, he could avoid an injury designation entirely for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. He played a sizeable 44 defensive snaps during Buffalo's win over the Chiefs in Week 9, recording three tackles (two solo) including 1.0 sacks.
Nov 5, 2025
Won't practice Wednesday
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters that Bosa (wrist) won't practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite playing 44 defensive snaps and recording three total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, in Buffalo's Week 9 win over the Chiefs, the veteran defensive lineman appears to have sustained a wrist injury. Bosa's practice participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide the clearest indication on whether he can suit up for the Week 10 matchup against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Oct 30, 2025
Adds sack in win
Bosa recorded two total tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 40-9 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa broke through the line to bring down Andy Dalton for a sack twice in the second quarter, but one of them was nullified by a penalty on the 30-year-old. The defensive end has now registered 16 total tackles (seven solo), including 3.0 sacks, while also forcing four fumbles over seven games this season.
Jul 28, 2025
Past calf injury
Bosa told reporters after Monday's practice that he has "moved on" from a calf injury that he sustained during a workout in late May, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has appeared in just 28 regular-season games over the past three years due to injury, with his calf issue being his latest setback. However, the veteran edge rusher is participating in training camp practices and will have the opportunity to build chemistry with the rest of the Bills' defensive front. Bosa's calf injury will be closely monitored during training camp, with the goal for him to be fully healthy for the Bills' regular-season opener against the Ravens on Sept. 7.
Jul 23, 2025
Limited reps in training camp
Head coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday that Bosa will have his training camp reps managed while working through a calf injury, Mike Moraitis of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
"We'll have a rep plan for [Bosa] and a way to manage things to the best of our ability to try and keep him as healthy as possible," McDermott relayed to reporters before Wednesday's practice. Bosa has missed 23 regular-season games since 2022 and hasn't played more than 54 percent of snaps in a season since 2021 due to injury. The veteran defensive end could be held out of preseason games as he aims to be healthy for the Bills' Week 1 clash against the Ravens on Sept. 7.
Jun 10, 2025
Sidelined for start of minicamp
Bosa (calf) was inactive for the start the Bills' mandatory minicamp Tuesday, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa remained on the sidelines as minicamp got underway, continuing to nurse the calf injury that forced him to miss OTAs. With only two days left in minicamp, the 29-year-old will likely sit it out completely, and he'll shift his focus to being ready for training camp in late July.
Mar 11, 2025
Heading to Buffalo
The Bills are slated to sign Bosa to a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will now head to Buffalo after having racked up a combined 62.0 sacks across his nine seasons with the Chargers. He should help fill the void left at defensive end following the release of Von Miller and will likely split time with both Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa.
Mar 6, 2025
Time up with Chargers
The Chargers officially released Bosa on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa, a five-time Pro Bowler and 2016 first-round pick, had been Los Angeles' longest-tenured player. Once one of the league's premier pass rushers, injuries have limited Bosa to just 28 combined regular-season contests over the past three years. He had just 5.0 sacks across 14 appearances in 2024, less than the 6.5 sacks he recorded across just nine games in 2023. Having been scheduled for roughly a $36.4 million cap hit in 2025, Bosa never seemed a realistic candidate to remain with the Chargers, barring a significant pay cut. Now, still just heading into his age-30 season, Bosa figures to draw notable attention as one of the few capable edge rushers on the open market.
Jan 22, 2025
Only 5.0 sacks in 14 games
Bosa finished the 2024 regular season with 5.0 sacks among his 22 tackles (17 solo) in 14 appearances (nine starts).
ANALYSIS
Bosa's days as a dominant pass rusher appear to be behind him, as he has just 14.0 sacks over the past three regular seasons while being limited to 28 appearances over that span. He tacked on a sack in the playoffs, but that wasn't nearly enough to prevent the Chargers from crashing out with a 32-12 loss to the Texans in the wild-card round. The big-name pass rusher is under contract at a cap hit of $36.47 million for 2025, but the Chargers can get out of the deal with $11.11 million in dead cap space, and LA will likely take that out given Bosa's declining production in recent years after he compiled double-digit sack totals in four of his first six seasons.
Dec 23, 2024
Sacks Nix in Week 16 victory
Bosa tallied three tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, during the Chargers' 34-27 win over the Broncos this past Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa sacked Bo Nix for an eight-yard loss midway through the second quarter. It was Bosa's second sack over his last three games, and the 2016 first-round pick has played at least 40 defensive snaps in three of the Chargers' last four contests. He's up to 5.0 sacks through 12 regular-season games, and he'll look to add to that total in Week 17 against Drake Maye and the Patriots on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Nov 23, 2024
Good to go vs. Baltimore
Bosa (hip) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Bosa opened the week with consecutive limited practices due to a hip issue, but he finished strong with a full practice Saturday. Bosa and Tuli Tuipulotu could see an increased snap count Monday if fellow edge rushers Khalil Mack (groin) and Bud Dupree (foot) are unable to play.
Nov 22, 2024
Limited Friday
Bosa (hip) was a limited participant in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa played through his hip issue in the Chargers' Week 11 win over the Bengals, recording just one total tackle across a season-high 53 defensive snaps. The Ohio State product has been battling this hip issue since late September, so Friday's limited session is likely precautionary. Bosa is likely to suit up for Monday night's matchup against the Ravens unless he downgrades to no participation in Saturday's practice.
Nov 15, 2024
Past hip issue
Bosa (hip) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bosa upgraded to a full workload Friday after opening the Chargers' week of practice with back-to-back limited sessions, suggesting that he's moved past his hip issue in time for Sunday's matchup. The Ohio State product could start opposite Tuli Tuipulotu as part of the Chargers' top edge-rushing duo Sunday if Khalil Mack (groin), who's listed as questionable, is sidelined. Bosa has had his snap count limited over the last three games, though he told reporters Friday that the plan is for him to play "about 30, 30-plus snaps" during Sunday's game, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic.
Nov 13, 2024
Continues to work through hip issue
Bosa (hip) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has played through a hip injury over the Chargers' last three games, which has limited him to 18 defensive snaps in each of those contests. His snap count in Week 11 against the Bengals will likely be capped unless he's able to practice without limitations over the next two days.
Nov 10, 2024
Active for Week 10
Bosa (hip) is active for Los Angeles' game against the Titans on Sunday, Kris Rhim of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will now play through a hip injury for the third straight week. He has racked up nine tackles (seven solo), with 2.0 sacks, and will look to add to those totals versus Tennessee.
Nov 8, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Bosa (hip) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bosa played through his hip issue in the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Browns, failing to record a stat across 18 defensive snaps. He practiced in a limited fashion throughout the week and will likely continue playing through the pain Sunday. However, if Bosa is unable to suit up, expect Bud Dupree to see increased work as the Chargers' top rotational edge rusher.
Nov 3, 2024
Active for Week 9
Bosa (hip) is not among the Chargers' inactives for Sunday's matchup against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
A lingering hip injury resulted in Bosa being deemed questionable heading into Sunday, but he'll be able to play through the issue for a second straight week following a three-game absence. The veteran pass rusher logged only 26 percent of the Chargers' defensive snaps against New Orleans last Sunday, and he may similarly be on a reduced snap count against the Browns. Bosa has 2.0 sacks through four contests this season.
Nov 1, 2024
Questionable for Week 9
Bosa (hip) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was able to play through his hip issue in the Chargers' Week 8 win over the Saints, playing just 18 defensive snaps and failing to record a tackle. His limited participation in practice throughout the week suggests he'll likely suit up in Week 9. However, if he's unable to play Sunday, expect Tuli Tuipulotu to start opposite Khalil Mack as the Chargers' top edge-rushing duo.
Oct 30, 2024
Opens week as limited participant
Bosa (hip) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa returned from a three-game absence this past Sunday against the Saints, though he played just 18 defensive snaps and did not record a tackle. The 2016 first-round pick is still working through a hip injury he picked up in Week 3 against the Steelers, so his limited practice participation to open the week is to be expected. Bosa should be good to go against the Browns on Sunday as long as he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity over the next two days.
Oct 27, 2024
Will play Sunday
Bosa (hip) will play in the Chargers' game versus the Saints on Sunday, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will make his return to the field after missing the past three games with a hip injury. In his three appearances so far this season, the 2016 first-round pick has accumulated nine tackles (seven solo), with 2.0 sacks, and he will look to increase those totals during Sunday's matchup.
Oct 25, 2024
Expects to play Sunday
Bosa (hip) told reporters Friday that he expects to return from a three-game absence and play against the Saints on Sunday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game after being a limited participant in all three practices this week. Bosa revealed Friday that a glute strain has caused pain due to pressure on his sciatic nerve and he expects that, if he does play, that he won't operate under a full workload, per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com. If Bosa does suit up Sunday, he'll likely work in equal rotation with backups Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu.
Oct 24, 2024
Limited in practice Wednesday
Bosa (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has missed three consecutive games due to a lingering hip injury, so it's encouraging to see him back on the practice field. He'll work to continue improving and ultimately gain clearance to suit up Sunday versus the Saints, who will likely field rookie fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler under center.
Oct 21, 2024
Officially ruled out
Bosa (hip) is inactive for Monday's contest against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will miss a third game in a row as he continues to nurse a hip injury that he suffered in Week 3 against the Steelers. The linebacker will look to return to practice in the coming days. but in the meantime, Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu will continue to see an increase in workload versus Arizona.
Oct 19, 2024
Unlikely to play vs. Arizona
Bosa (hip) is listed as doubtful ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has been bogged down with a hip injury since Week 3 against the Steelers, and it appears the 2016 first-round pick will miss his third straight game as a result. If Bosa is indeed inactive, expect Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu to see more snaps with the first-team defense Monday opposite starting edge rusher Khalil Mack.
Oct 18, 2024
Doesn't practice Friday
Bosa (hip) was listed as a DNP on Friday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has opened the week with back-to-back DNPs due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Steelers. The 2016 first-round pick is in jeopardy of being sidelined for a third straight game unless he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity Saturday. If Bosa cannot play Monday against the Cardinals, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree will compete for snaps with the first-team defense at outside linebacker opposite starter Khalil Mack.
Oct 17, 2024
Opens week as DNP
Bosa (hip) did not practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has missed the Chargers' last two games due to a hip injury. He'll have two more chances to return to the practice field in at least a limited capacity ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals. Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree will continue to see more reps at outside linebacker opposite Khalil Mack for as long as Bosa is sidelined.
Oct 13, 2024
Inactive for Week 6
Bosa (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Bosa recorded nine tackles (seven solo), including 2.0 sacks, in the first three games of the season, but he hasn't played since due to a hip injury. However, the star pass rusher returned to practice Friday as a limited participant, suggesting he'll have a good chance of suiting up for Monday Night Football during Week 7. In Bosa's absence, Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu remain candidates for increased snaps.
Oct 11, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Bosa (hip) logged a limited practice Friday and is questionable for Los Angeles' Week 6 matchup against Denver.
ANALYSIS
Bosa hurt his hip in Week 3, and he hasn't returned to the field since with nine tackles (seven solo) and two sacks to his name so far. A switch from DNP's to a limited practice now on Friday looks promising now for the star pass rusher, but his true status will be revealed prior to kickoff in Denver.
Oct 9, 2024
Opens week as DNP
Bosa (hip) was listed as a DNP on the Chargers' injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa suffered a hip injury in Week 3, which kept him out of the Chargers' Week 4 loss to the Chiefs. The Chargers are coming out of the bye week, but even with the extended rest, it appears Bosa's hip continues to be an issue. He'll have two more chances to return to practice this week ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos. Tuli Tuipulotu would see more work with the first-team defense if Bosa were to be sidelined.
Sep 27, 2024
Ruled out for Week 4
Bosa (hip) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has not practiced all week due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Steelers. The Chargers have a bye next week, so the earliest Bosa could return to action will be in the lead up to the Chargers' Week 6 matchup against the Broncos on Oct. 13. With Bosa sidelined Sunday, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree will both see increased snaps at outside linebacker opposite starter Khalil Mack.
Sep 25, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Bosa (hip) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers' All-Pro pass rusher was held out of Wednesday's practice after sustaining a hip injury during the first play of the team's Week 3 loss to the Steelers. Bosa will likely need to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for the Chargers' Week 4 matchup against the Chiefs.
Sep 22, 2024
Ruled out Sunday
Bosa (hip) has been ruled out for the remainder of the Chargers' game versus the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa won't return to Sunday's matchup after sustaining a hip injury during the game's first play. In his absence, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree likely will see increased playing time.
Sep 22, 2024
Questionable to return Sunday
Bosa is nursing a hip injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa sustained the injury on the first defensive play of the game, and he has yet to return to the field. Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree are likely to see more snaps at outside linebacker opposite Khalil Mack for as long as Bosa is sidelined.
Sep 16, 2024
Another sack in Week 2
Bosa recorded two tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was limited to just 14 defensive snaps in the contest due to his back injury, but he was still able to get to Bryce Young for a sack in the third quarter. The 29-year-old will look to increase his workload in Week 3 versus the Steelers. Bosa has compiled nine total tackles (seven solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also forcing a fumble through two contests in 2024.
Sep 15, 2024
Ready to go
Bosa (back) is active Sunday against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa closed out the week with back-to-back DNPs but that won't keep him off the field in Week 2. The Ohio State product's ability to suit up is obviously good news for the Chargers and a boost to their entire defense against Carolina.
Sep 13, 2024
Could play Week 2
Bosa (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old edge rusher was unable to practice both Thursday and Friday due to a back injury, but it appears he's still got a shot at suiting up Sunday. If Bosa's back issue keeps him out of the Chargers' Week 2 affair, expect Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree to see increased work with Los Angeles' first-team defense.
Sep 12, 2024
Downgrades to DNP
Bosa (back) did not practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa opened the week as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, but it appears his back injury is severe enough for him to miss Thursday's session. The downgrade in participation doesn't bode well for Bosa's chances of playing in Week 2 against the Panthers, but he has one more chance to see the field Friday.
Sep 11, 2024
Dealing with back issue
Bosa (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa appears to be dealing with another injury after playing well in the Chargers' regular-season opener, as he was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a back issue. The 29-year-old's practice participation Thursday and Friday will provide more clarity on whether he'll be able to suit up in Week 2.
Sep 9, 2024
Sacks Minshew on Sunday
Bosa tallied seven tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa sacked Gardner Minshew for a six-yard loss in the second quarter of Sunday's game, which forced the Raiders to punt one play later. Bosa showed of his defensive impact in the third quarter, when he punched the ball out of Zamir White's hands, and the fumble was recovered by Ja'Sir Taylor, though the Chargers' offense wasn't able to convert that turnover into points. Bosa and the Chargers will travel to Carolina to take on Bryce Young and the stumbling Panthers' offense in Week 2.
Sep 4, 2024
Off injury report
Bosa (hand) was absent from the Chargers' injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 contest against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was spotted practicing without a club Monday, so it's no surprise he's been removed from Los Angeles' injury report Wednesday. The 29-year-old defensive end has put just one full season together in the last four years, with that season coming in 2021. Expect the four-time Pro Bowler to continue being one of the most dominant pass rushers in the NFL when he's on the field in 2024.
Sep 2, 2024
Nearing return?
Bosa (hand) was spotted participating in Monday's practice without a club on his left hand, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa broke his left hand during a joint practice with the Rams on Aug. 4, but he appears to be nearing a full return to the field. The 2016 first-round pick has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, appearing in just 16 regular-season games and recording 30 total tackles, including 9.0 sacks. It's unclear if Bosa will be ready for the Bolts' Week 1 contest against the Raiders, but practicing without a club Monday appears to be a step in the right direction.
Aug 22, 2024
Works on sideline Thursday
Bosa (hand) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has been held out of practice and preseason games since injuring his hand during the Chargers' joint practice with the Rams on Aug. 4. His return Thursday -- albeit in limited fashion -- is a positive step in his recovery as he aims to be ready for Week 1 against the Raiders. Bosa finished 2023 on IR due to a foot injury, and across nine regular-season games he posted 20 tackles (14 solo), including 6.5 sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Aug 10, 2024
Sitting out Saturday
Bosa (hand/wrist) is not playing in Saturday's preseason bout against the Seahawks, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was seen Saturday with his left hand/wrist wrapped up, an injury which he sustained during Sunday's practice. The four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher may sit out for all three preseason games and focus on being ready for the Chargers' regular-season opener against the Raiders on Sept. 9. Bosa played in nine regular-season games for the Bolts last season, finishing with 20 tackles (14 solo), including 6.5 sacks, one pass defended, one fumble forced and one fumble recovery.
Aug 4, 2024
Exits practice Sunday
Bosa departed early from Sunday's practice due to an apparent left hand/wrist injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa headed into the locker room with trainers following a play, but at this point the level of concern about the hand/wrist issue is unclear. The star pass rusher has been hampered by injuries in recent campaigns, playing in just 14 regular-season contests across 2022 and 2023. More information about Bosa's exit Sunday could be made available following the practice session.
May 21, 2024
Returns to field
Bosa (foot) took part in practice during OTAs on Monday, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa remained sidelined after suffering a foot injury in Week 11 against the Packers and finished out the 2023 campaign on IR. The veteran pass rusher has been severely hampered by injuries the last two seasons, appearing in just 14 total contests. His ability to take part in voluntary workouts this early in the offseason should be good news for his health and the Chargers as the 2024 campaign approaches.
Mar 14, 2024
Restructures contract with LA
Bosa (foot) restructured his contract and will remain with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Scheduled for $22 million in non-guaranteed compensation in 2024 and $25.36 million next year, Bosa was oft-mentioned as a potential cap casualty or trade target. He and fellow edge rusher Khalil Mack both ended up restructuring their contacts before roster bonuses were due later this week, giving them a third season to work together chasing quarterbacks. Mack has played in every game since joining the team, while Bosa has missed 20 of a possible 34 contests, including the final seven games of the 2023 season due to a foot sprain. The 28-year-old returned to practice on a limited basis in late December and early July, so it's entirely possible he's already back to full health/strength before the start of offseason. A healthier year from Bosa would go a long way, though the Chargers still appear frightfully thin in the front seven apart from their duo of star edge rushers.
Jan 5, 2024
Done for season
Bosa (foot) will not play Sunday against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers won't activate Bosa off injured reserve, and his season is over with Los Angeles already eliminated from playoff contention. After appearing in just five games due to injuries last season, Bosa played in only nine contests this year, recording 6.5 sacks. He's missed 20 games over the last two years.
Dec 29, 2023
Won't return Week 17
Bosa (foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was able to practice in a limited fashion throughout the week, but it still seems as if he's not ready to return to the field just yet. The 28-year-old edge rusher has missed Los Angeles' last five games with this foot issue, and with the Chargers out of playoff contention, the team could very well shut down Bosa for the remainder of the year.
Dec 21, 2023
Cleared to practice
The Chargers designated Bosa (foot) for return from injured reserve Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The transaction opens up a 21-day window in which Bosa can be evaluated in practice before the Chargers would have to add him to the 53-man roster or keep him on IR for the remainder of the season. Given that he hasn't played since Week 11 and won't be able to get more than two practices under his belt this week, Bosa may not be cleared to play ahead of this Saturday's game against the Bills. A return during Week 17 or 18 may be more realistic, but the 5-9 Chargers likely won't risk bringing the star edge rusher back in the midst of a non-contending season unless the team is confident he's 100 percent recovered from his right foot sprain. Bosa appeared in nine games and tallied 20 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble prior to being placed on IR.
Nov 22, 2023
Officially goes to IR
The Chargers placed Bosa (foot) on their injured reserve list Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Bosa will now have to sit out at least the next four weeks as he recovers from the foot injury he sustained in Week 11 at Green Bay. Rookie third-rounder Tuli Tuipulotu and Justin Hollins will probably see increased reps on the edge until Bosa is ready to play again.
Nov 20, 2023
IR stint likely
Coach Brandon Staley relayed Monday that Bosa has a foot sprain and is "likely" headed to IR, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Popper, Staley acknowledged that it's "to be determined" whether Bosa will play again this season, and with that in mind it seems safe to assume that the star pass rusher will miss some time, beginning with Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Nov 19, 2023
Officially out for rest of Week 11
Bosa (foot) has been ruled out from returning to Sunday's matchup against Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Bosa exited in the first quarter and has since been deemed unable to return. The star pass rusher was carted off the field and later stood on the sidelines with crutches and a walking boot, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, so he may be dealing with a serious injury. More should be know about Bosa's injury later Sunday.
Nov 19, 2023
Exits with foot injury
Bosa is questionable to return to Sunday's game after suffering a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was carted back to the locker room after limping to the sidelines in the first quarter of Sunday's contest, per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. 2023 second-round pick Tuli Tuipulotu is expected to see more work on the Chargers' defensive line with Bosa back in the locker room.
Nov 10, 2023
Not on injury report
Bosa (illness) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Bosa popped up on the injury report Thursday due to an illness, but it looks like he is already feeling better. Barring any setbacks, look for the star outside linebacker to take on his usual role on the edge.
Nov 9, 2023
DNP with illness Thursday
Bosa (illness) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa wasn't listed on the practice report Wednesday. He'll get another chance to practice Friday ahead of Sunday's Week 10 date with the Lions. Bosa has missed a lot of practice time this season but has been absent for just one game, recording 6.5 sacks and one forced fumble in seven contests.
Nov 7, 2023
Impressive in MNF win
Bosa recorded six tackles (three solo), including 2.5 sacks, while forcing and recovering a fumble in Monday night's 27-6 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was a menace during Monday Night Football, getting to quarterback Zach Wilson three times, including a strip sack which he recovered in the first quarter. The 28-year-old has now registered 10 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, over the last two games.
Oct 31, 2023
Gets sack in Sunday night win
Bosa had four tackles (two solo) including a sack in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Bosa got to Tyson Bagent on a third down on the Bears' first drive of the game that forced Chicago to punt the ball away. Bosa is now up to four sacks on the season and has surpassed his 2022 total of 2.5. He played 38 defensive snaps in Sunday's game which was the second straight contest of reaching 37 or more snaps on defense. Bosa was dealing with a toe issue that held him out of Week 4, so his snap count could increase as the season progresses.
Oct 16, 2023
Will play Monday
Bosa (toe) will play Monday versus the Cowboys, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was questionable all week with a toe injury but is now officially good to go for Monday night's game. The 2016 first-round pick missed the team's Week 4 win against the Raiders but will now look to help slow down Dak Prescott and the rest of Dallas' offense.
Oct 16, 2023
Expects to suit up Monday
Bosa (toe) is expected to play Monday versus Dallas, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa is officially listed as questionable going into the Chargers' contest versus the Cowboys, but barring any setback, it sounds like he should be good to go. If there's bad news for Bosa, it's that his chances to rush the passer could be few and far between; Dallas has been relatively run-heavy through five games this season.
Oct 14, 2023
Possible for Monday
Bosa (toe) is questionable for Monday's contest against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Bosa did practice in limited fashion Saturday, his first practice participation of the week. The talented pass rusher would be in a good spot against a shaky Cowboys offensive line if he's cleared to play, but his status might end up being decided shortly before Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 13, 2023
Misses practice again Friday
Bosa (toe) remained sidelined for Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has battled hamstring and toe issues already this season and missed Week 4. He had the Week 5 bye to rest up, but Bosa may have to find his way into a limited practice Saturday in order to play Monday night against Dallas. Bosa has three sacks through three appearances this season.
Oct 12, 2023
Misses practice Thursday
Bosa (toe) sat out of practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has also been dealing with a hamstring injury since Sept. 13 but did not did miss a game until Week 4 against the Raiders. His absence Thursday leaves his status in doubt for Monday's contest versus the Cowboys as well. The four-time Pro Bowler has six tackles and three sacks in 2023.
Oct 1, 2023
Inactive against Raiders
Bosa (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
A downgrade in injury status on a Saturday is always an ominous sign, and with that scenario having played out for Bosa, it's unsurprising he's now officially ruled out for Sunday's AFC West clash. The hamstring issue has been a lingering problem for Bosa since Week 2, but he'll now have the Chargers' Week 5 bye to hopefully get healthy enough to suit up against the Cowboys in a Week 6 Monday night home showdown on Oct. 16.
Sep 30, 2023
Doubtful for Sunday
Bosa (hamstring) was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's contest against the Raiders, Kris Rhim of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After playing 56 defensive snaps in Week 1 against the Dolphins, Bosa has played just 43 defensive snaps over the past two contests while dealing with a hamstring injury. He was initially listed as questionable Friday but was downgraded to doubtful Saturday after he was unable to log a practice session all week. Tuli Tuipulotu and Chris Rumph are in line for an increased workload opposite Khalil Mack in Week 4 if Bosa is unable to play.
Sep 29, 2023
Listed as questionable
Bosa (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was a non-participant at practice all week, so his status is murky heading into Sunday. He fought through the injury for last week's victory over the Vikings, but only ended up playing 25 defensive snaps (32 percent). Even if he does ultimately get the green light, he could end up looking at another limited workload. More clarity on his status will presumably come Sunday morning.
Sep 27, 2023
Misses practice Wednesday
Bosa (hamstring/toe) was unavailable for the Chargers' practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa popped up on the injury report Wednesday with a couple of injuries and he will have two more practice sessions to return to the field prior to Week 4 versus the Raiders. Considering he has played in each of the last two contests with the hamstring injury, he seems likely to go again Sunday against Las Vegas.
Sep 26, 2023
Gets another sack in win
Bosa recorded his third sack in as many games this season in the Charger's 28-24 victory over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Bosa made his only tackle count when he took down Kirk Cousins during Sunday's contest. After fighting through a hamstring injury to get cleared, he ultimately saw a limited workload with 25 defensive snaps (32 percent). There were no reports of any setbacks, so he could be in line for a bigger role in Week 4 versus the Raiders.
Sep 24, 2023
Will play Sunday
Bosa (hamstring) is active Sunday against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was able to get in some limited practice time Friday after sitting out of Thursday's session. He was limited to 19 snaps in Week 2 against the Titans but should see a larger workload Sunday as the Chargers look for their first win of the season against the Vikings.
Sep 24, 2023
In line to play Sunday
Bosa (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, is on track to be active for the contest, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's status will be confirmed when the Chargers release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to the game's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. According to Pelissero, the Chargers plan to have Bosa increase his playing time from Week 2, when he was limited to just 18 snaps in a 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans while being eased back from the hamstring issue. The light playing time didn't hinder Bosa from a productivity standpoint, as he finished with four tackles and two sacks during his time on the field.
Sep 22, 2023
Considered questionable
Bosa (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Bosa bounced back from a Thursday DNP by practicing in limited fashion Friday. His status Sunday will depend on how his hamstring is holding up closer to kickoff. Tuli Tuipulotu is the likely candidate to replace him on the edge if he is ultimately unable to go.
Sep 21, 2023
Doesn't practice Thursday
Bosa (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
It's a downgrade for Bosa after he was limited in Wednesday's session. He didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday last week but still played in the Week 2 loss to the Titans, recording a pair of sacks. Bosa is someone who doesn't need many practice reps in order to play on Sunday.
Sep 20, 2023
Limited in practice
Bosa (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa played through the hamstring injury last week and managed to record two sacks despite playing on a snap count. While the 2016 first-round pick seems to be trending towards playing Sunday, it remains to be seen if he'll be a full go or if he'll be limited once again.
Sep 18, 2023
Records two sacks
Bosa registered four tackles (three solo) and two sacks in the 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's status was up in the air all week heading into the game as he was dealing with a hamstring injury, but ended up coming up big for the Chargers as he led the team in sacks. Despite the positive production, the 28-year-old played just 19 snaps all game as the coaching staff was likely trying to be cautious with his hamstring. Bosa will now look to get back to full health for next week's game against the Vikings.
Sep 17, 2023
Ready to play
Bosa (hamstring) is active Sunday against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's ability to take the field is certainly good news for the Chargers defense. The star pass rusher was able to log a limited practice Friday after logging a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday, setting the stage for him to take the field Sunday.
Sep 17, 2023
Optimism to play Sunday
The Chargers are optimistic that Bosa (hamstring) will be able to suit up Sunday versus the Titans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's contest due to hamstring soreness, but it appears that he's trending positively. Official word on the star pass-rusher's status will come prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If Bosa is able to take the field, he could thrive matched up against a Titans' offensive line that allowed three sacks and 10 quarterback versus the Saints in Week 1.
Sep 15, 2023
Questionable with hamstring injury
Bosa (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bosa upgraded to limited participation Friday after failing to practice Wednesday or Thursday, but his status for Week 2 remains in doubt. If the productive pass rusher is able to play, he could be in store for a strong performance against an underwhelming Tennessee offensive line that allowed three sacks and 10 quarterback hits to the Saints last week.
Sep 14, 2023
Misses practice again Thursday
Bosa (hamstring) did not participate at practice Thursday ahead of Sunday's game at Tennessee, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's appearing increasingly unlikely that Bosa will be able to suit up for the Chargers in Week 2. If he does indeed have to sit out, Morgan Fox or Tuli Tuipulotu will probably start on the edge opposite Khalil Mack on Sunday.
Sep 13, 2023
Not practicing Wednesday
Bosa (hamstring) did not participate at practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Per Bridget Condon of NFL Network, Bosa is dealing with hamstring soreness after the Chargers' loss in Week 1. Thursday and Friday injury reports should provide more clarity regarding his availability for Week 2.
Aug 8, 2023
Back at practice
Bosa (illness) is practicing Tuesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa sat out Sunday while recovering from an illness, but the Pro Bowler is fully recovered and ready to compete once again. He'll now return his focus to preparing for the 2023 season after he missed the majority of 2022 due to a groin injury.
Aug 6, 2023
Absent from scrimmage Sunday
Bosa didn't participate in Sunday's scrimmage due to an illness, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa missed most of the 2022 campaign due to a groin injury but said at the start of training camp this year that he added about 15 to 20 pounds during the offseason, something he hopes will make him a more effective player. While he wasn't on the field Sunday, it seems unlikely that his illness will impact his status for the start of the regular season. However, whether he suits up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Rams remains to be seen.
Jul 28, 2023
Adds weight over offseason
Speaking with reporters Thursday, Bosa noted that he added about 15 to 20 pounds in the offseason and believes he'll "be a much more effective player and pass rush with my power," Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa dropped down to about 250 pounds in 2021 as he transitioned from a traditional defensive end to an edge rusher position that occasionally dropped into coverage under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley. He's now back to around the same weight as he was under former defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and noted that the added weight is "a big part of my game to be able to be powerful and be strong." Bosa played in just five games in 2022 after landing on injured reserve due to a groin injury he suffered in Week 3 against the Jaguars. The 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year has been an integral part of the Chargers' defensive pash rush, registering at least 10.5 sacks in four of seven seasons and has been selected to the Pro Bowl four times.
Jan 12, 2023
Season limited by injury
Bosa registered 10 tackles (eight solo), 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and forced a fumble during the 2022-23 season.
ANALYSIS
Bosa spent the majority of the season on injured reserve, as he missed 13 straight games after injuring his groin Week 3, which he also re-injured Week 18. Bosa was still productive in his limited action though, especially as a pass rusher as he finished the season with the sixth most sacks and tied for the fifth most quarterback hits on the Chargers. While his injury history might be a cause for concern for next year, the upside is still there as 27-year-old has recorded double-digit sacks in every season he's been fully healthy for.
Dec 31, 2022
Set to play
Bosa (groin) was activated off injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers will get a much needed defensive jolt with the return of the Pro Bowler who has missed the last 13 contests after tearing his groin. Bosa typically has been one of the team's better run defenders, but it remains to be seen how many snaps he'll see as he works back into proper game conditioning.
Dec 30, 2022
Expected to play versus Rams
Chargers coach Brandon Staley said the Chargers plan to activate Bosa (groin) from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Bosa landed on IR with a groin tear after the first two games of the regular season and he was finally designated to return to practice Thursday. The Bolts still need to officially restore the 27-year-old defensive to the active roster before he can suit up again, so this move will come at some point Friday or Saturday. Bosa recorded double-digit sacks in four of his first six seasons, and his return ahead of the playoffs should be a significant boost for the Bolts' pass rush, which currently ranks 20th with 31 sacks this season.
Dec 29, 2022
Makes return to practice
The Chargers designated Bosa (groin) for return from injured reserve Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The transaction clears the way for Bosa to practice for the first time since suffering a groin tear in late September and ultimately requiring surgery. Because he hasn't played since Week 3, Bosa won't be a safe bet to get activated from IR in advance of this Sunday's game against the Rams, even if he fares well in his two practices this week. The Chargers will have 21 days to evaluate Bosa before he would have to be moved to the 53-man active roster, so he could be a candidate to play Week 18 in Denver or during the wild-card round of the playoffs if he's not activated for Week 17.
Dec 27, 2022
Nearing return
Bosa (groin) could return to practice starting this week, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While the Chargers clinched a playoff berth with Monday's 20-3 win over the Colts, they could be getting better news leading into Week 17 as the team's dominant pass rusher has been out since Week 2 due to a groin injury. The Chargers will need to designate Bosa to return from IR before he's able to practice, so fantasy mangers will have some idea when the pass rusher will be nearing his return, but this is the first sign of positive momentum regarding Bosa's status since he initially suffered the injury.
Dec 23, 2022
Set to remain out for Week 16
Bosa (groin) has yet to return to practice, making it unlikely that he gets activated from injured reserve and plays Monday against the Colts, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has yet to be designated for return from IR, failing to practice at all this week ahead of Week 16. The 27-year-old will two more games to try and make it back to the field before the end of the regular season.
Dec 15, 2022
Looks unlikely for Week 15
Bosa (groin) isn't practicing Thursday and looks unlikely to return from injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Titans, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering the Chargers haven't yet opened Bosa's 21-day evaluation window in practice by designating him for return from IR, he doesn't appear as though he'll be an option for Week 15. The star edge rusher has been sidelined since Week 3 after undergoing surgery to address a groin tear.
Dec 11, 2022
Could be back Week 15
Bosa (groin) will be re-evaluated early in the upcoming week and could be cleared to resume practicing with the team as soon as Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa hasn't played since Week 3 and will miss his 10th consecutive game Sunday against the Dolphins while he continues to recover from groin surgery, but the star edge rusher doesn't look as though he'll be sidelined for much longer. Assuming Bosa's upcoming re-evaluation bears favorable news, the Chargers will likely designate him for a return from injured reserve, opening up a 21-day window wherein he can practice with the team without counting toward the 53-man roster. If Bosa responds well to his initial practice work and if conditioning isn't a concern, he could be reinstated to the roster ahead of the Chargers' Week 15 matchup with the Titans next Sunday.
Nov 30, 2022
Not close to return
Coach Brandon Staley said Wednesday that it's "still gonna be some time" before Bosa (groin) returns to practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks after suffering the groin injury at the end of September, so it's not surprising to hear Staley say his star pass rusher still needs more time to heal before returning to practice. In Bosa's absence, Kyle Van Noy has been playing more outside linebacker, which leaves room for Kenneth Murray and Drue Tranquill to operate in the middle. Chris Rumph, who recently returned from a two-game absence due to a knee injury, is also a candidate for increased pass-rushing opportunities while Bosa is out.
Oct 2, 2022
Expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks
Bosa (groin) is expected to be sidelined 8-to-10 weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa is recovering from surgery to address a groin tear, and the Chargers have already placed the star edge rusher on IR. The team will likely turn to Chris Rumph and Kyle Van Noy to pick up the slack opposite Khalil Mack, but the void left by Bosa will be difficult to fill as he works his way back to full health. Bosa underwent surgery Thursday.
Sep 28, 2022
Shifts to injured reserve
The Chargers placed Bosa (groin) on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa is scheduled to undergo surgery to address a groin injury, and while he's been placed on IR, the expectation is that the star pass rusher will be able to return at some point this season. He'll be forced to miss at least four games after the move to IR, but it's unclear when Los Angeles expects him to return. In Bosa's absence, Kyle Van Noy and Chris Rumph are candidates for increased snaps.
Sep 28, 2022
Set to undergo groin surgery
Coach Brandon Staley noted Wednesday that Bosa is in line to undergo surgery to address his groin injury, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
While the expectation is that Bosa will be able to return at some point this season, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com relays that the 2016 first-rounder is slated to go on IR, meaning that he'll miss four games, at a minimum. In Bosa's looming absence, Kyle Van Noy and Chris Rumph are candidates to see added playing time.
Sep 26, 2022
Dealing with significant injury
Coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Bosa is dealing with a significant groin injury, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was unable to return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars after sustaining his groin injury, and he's considered week-to-week for now. Kyle Van Noy will likely handle increased work while Bosa is sidelined.
Sep 26, 2022
Undergoing tests on groin
Bosa (groin) is set to undergo additional tests to determine the severity of his injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa went down with a groin injury in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars and will now get additional imaging to diagnose his specific injury. The 27-year-old was replaced in the contest by Kyle Van Noy, who will likely absorb most of Bosa's workload if he's unable to go in Week 4.
Sep 25, 2022
Won't return against Jaguars
Bosa has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to a groin injury.
ANALYSIS
Bosa exited the game early on and managed to record only one tackle as a result. Kyle Van Noy has seen an increased role in Bosa's absence.
Sep 25, 2022
Suffers groin injury
Bosa suffered a groin injury Sunday against the Jaguars and is questionable to return, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa suffered the injury in the first quarter, though he did manage one tackle prior to his departure. Kyle Van Noy is likely to pick up extra sacks so long as Bosa is sidelined.
Sep 15, 2022
Dominant vs. Raiders
Bosa notched three tackles (two solo), 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble during Sunday's 24-19 win over Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's day was overshadowed by fellow pass rusher Khalil Mack, who had three sacks versus his former team. It's hard to imagine the tandem getting off on a better foot, which bodes well as the Chargers prepare to contain Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. J.C. Jackson (ankle) is officially questionable for Week 2, but if available his return would provide a notable boost for Los Angeles' defense.
Jan 18, 2022
Nets double-digit sacks again
Bosa finished the 2021 season with 51 tackles (36 solo), 10.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles.
ANALYSIS
Box-score watchers would be led to believe Bosa had somewhat of a renaissance after finishing the 2020 season with just 7.5 sacks across 12 games, and while the seven forced fumbles was easily a career high, the turnovers masked what was essentially a boom-or-bust type of season for the premier pass rusher. When Bosa was unable to get the quarterback, too often was the 25-year-old simply out of position on containments and his 13 missed tackles was a major contributor in the team's ailing run defense. That doesn't even account for his numerous 15-yard penalties which seemingly always cropped up at the worst time. Make no mistake, Bosa is still easily the team's best defensive player and 2021 did mark his fourth season with double-digit tackles, but it was hardly a banner year for the perennial Pro Bowler who could a number of changes alongside with front-seven teammates with the likes of Kyzir White, Uchenna Nwosu and Linval Joseph all unrestricted free agents this offseason.
Dec 29, 2021
Back from COVID list
Bosa (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Bosa sat out last week's loss to the Texans after testing positive for the virus, but he's now cleared the health and safety protocols and should be ready to play Week 17. The 26-year-old has 43 tackles (31 solo), 9.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in 14 games this season.
Dec 20, 2021
Ineligible for Week 16
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Bosa won't be available to play Sunday against the Texans following the edge rusher's placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Bosa was previously placed on the list Nov. 16 as an unvaccinated close contact of an infected person, but after completing the required five-day quarantine, he was activated one day in advance of the team's Week 11 win over the Steelers. The timing of Bosa's placement on the list would have allowed him to play in Houston this weekend if he were once again deemed a close contact, but Staley's announcement that the 26-year-old has been ruled out well ahead of the Week 16 game indicates that he tested positive for virus. He'll now be out for 10 days as the result of the positive test, but unless he experiences major symptoms of the virus, Bosa should be ready to play Week 17 against the Broncos.
Dec 20, 2021
Moves to COVID list
Bosa (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers are dealing with a potential outbreak, resulting in Bosa, Austin Ekeler and Corey Linsley landing on the COVID list. It's unclear if any of the players tested positive, but their availability for Sunday's matchup with the Texans is now up in the air.
Dec 17, 2021
Major defensive impact in loss
Bosa recorded five tackles (three solo), one sack, and a forced fumble during Thursday's 34-28 overtime loss against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has recorded six sacks in his last seven games and leads the Chargers with 9.5 sacks on the season (12th total in the league). During Thursday's game, Bosa strip-sacked Patrick Mahomes with two minutes left in the first half, setting up the Chargers in Chiefs' territory. The 26-year-old linebacker has had a major impact on the Chargers' pass rush, and will attempt to continue his success next week against a struggling Texans offensive line.
Dec 8, 2021
Absent from injury report
Bosa (head) was absent from the injury report Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa suffered a head injury in Sunday's game against the Bengals. He cleared concussion protocol the same day, but his absence from the injury report further confirms that he should be ready to suit up Sunday against the Giants. Bosa has been a key figure as a pass rusher for the Chargers defense this season, logging 7.5 sacks across 12 games.
Dec 5, 2021
Clears concussion protocol
Coach Brandon Staley said Bosa (head) cleared concussion protocols and was held out of Sunday's win over the Chargers as a precaution, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa exited the game in the first half and was ultimately held out due to concerns over the two concussions he suffered last year. His status for Week 14 is uncertain, but it's certainly a good sign that he has avoided another concussion. He recorded one tackle prior to his exit.
Dec 5, 2021
Ruled out with head injury
Bosa (head) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bosa exited the game in the first half and was ultimately ruled out. The team has not announced whether Bosa is in concussion protocol, though the injury could also jeopardize his availability for a Week 14 matchup against the Giants. He recorded one tackle prior to his exit.
Dec 5, 2021
Being evaluated for a head injury
Bosa is being evaluated for a head injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bosa left the Chargers' Week 13 contest in the first half with an apparent head injury. The star pass rusher suffered two concussions last season, so this is certainly concerning news for Los Angeles. If he is unable to return, then Kyler Fackrell will likely see increased opportunities during his absence.
Nov 30, 2021
Sack in loss
Bosa tallied four total tackles (three solo) while also recording a sack and forced fumble in the 28-13 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa continued his dominant play Sunday as he has now recorded a sack in each of his last four games and in five of his last six. The 26-year-old was a bright spot on a Los Angeles defense that was gashed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Bosa will have to continue to play at an extremely high level as the Chargers try to turn around a struggling defense that has allowed 24-plus points in its last five games.
Nov 23, 2021
Sack streak continues
Bosa had four tackles (three solo) and one sack during Sunday's 41-37 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa now has a sack in three straight games, bringing his season total to 6.5 through 10 appearances. The 26-year-old didn't have any opportunities to practice prior to facing the Steelers as a result of a stint on the COVID-19 list, but he will be able to participate as usual ahead of Week 12's road matchup against the Broncos.
Nov 20, 2021
Activated by Chargers
Bosa (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Chargers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Bosa landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday after he was identified as a close contact of an infected person, but he continued to test negative. As a result, the 26-year-old will be available for Sunday's game against the Steelers despite not practicing this week.
Nov 17, 2021
Could clear protocols for Week 11
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley confirmed that Bosa tested negative for the coronavirus Wednesday after he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday upon being identified as a close contact of an infected person, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network notes that because Bosa is unvaccinated, he'll still remain out for a minimum of five days due to the NFL's contact-tracing protocols. Additionally, Bosa will need to continue to test negative in the days to come before he's first eligible to rejoin the Chargers on Saturday. That means that Bosa won't be able to participate in practices this week, but the Chargers would still likely plan on the star defensive end playing his usual allotment of snaps Sunday against Pittsburgh if he is activated from the list.
Nov 16, 2021
Placed on reserve/COVID-19 list
Bosa was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The edge rusher will have to complete league protocols before being eligible to return, putting his availability in question for Week 11 versus the Steelers. On the season, Bosa has 28 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in nine contests. If he can't go this weekend, Kyler Fackrell will likely be asked to step into a larger role.
Nov 16, 2021
Sack in loss
Bosa managed four tackles (three solo), one sack and one forced fumble during Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Bosa forced his third fumble of the season and recorded his fifth sack. The impressive pass rusher has tallied one sack in over half his games played so far, proving to be a force on the field. The 26-year-old hasn't racked up many multi-sack games this season, but he's still on pace for his fourth double-digit sack season.
Nov 14, 2021
Playing against Minnesota
Bosa (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The presence of Bosa should provide quite a boost to the defensive unit, as he's a disruptive force regardless of the opponent. The fact that he'll be facing a below-average Vikings offensive line should boost his upside.
Nov 9, 2021
One sack in win
Bosa recorded two solo tackles and one sack along with one tackle for loss in Sunday's 27-24 win over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Bosa exploited a weak Philadelphia offensive line and continued to be a disruptive force as he brought his sack total to 4.5 on the season. The star pass rushers' consistent pressure throughout the game had Jalen Hurts constantly scrambling outside the pocket. Bosa remains a top-tier IDP fantasy option in Week 10 as he gets a below-average Minnesota offensive line.
Oct 20, 2021
Tallies another sack
Bosa managed five solo tackles and one loss during Sundays 34-6 loss to the Raven's.
ANALYSIS
Bosa performed at his usual level in a game where Los Angeles' defense struggled to contain Baltimore's offense in any capacity, bringing his sack total to 3.5 on the season. After the team's Week 7 bye, Bosa will look to cause disruption against Mac Jones and the Patriots.

Gets to Carr on MNF
Bosa notched one solo tackle and one strip sack during Monday's 28-14 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa made the most of his lone sack of the night by ripping the ball out of quarterback Derek Carr's throwing hand, and his consistent pressure played a role in teammates Christian Covington, Kyler Fackrell and Jerry Tillery also notching sacks. The 26-year-old remains a top tier IDP fantasy option, though he is heading into a Week 5 matchup against Cleveland's stellar offensive line.
Sep 28, 2021
Up to 1.5 sacks
Bosa posted three tackles (one solo), a half sack and two quarterback hits in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was questionable with a foot injury going into Sunday's game, but he still handled 53 defensive snaps (70 percent). The three-time Pro Bowler has recorded 10 tackles (six solo), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble through three contests.
Sep 26, 2021
Active against Chiefs
Bosa (foot) is active Sunday against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa didn't participate in practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he was able to practice Friday and will play a big role against one of the most talented offenses in the league. The 26-year-old has played 82 percent of the Chargers' defensive snaps through the first two games of the season and has seven total tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
Sep 24, 2021
Officially questionable for Week 3
The Chargers listed Bosa (foot) as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa didn't participate in practice Wednesday or Thursday and is officially listed as questionable ahead of Week 3. The 26-year-old has played 82 percent of the Chargers' defensive snaps through the first two games of the season and has seven total tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. If he is unable to suit up Sunday, expect Kyler Fackrell to see increased snaps against Kansas City.
Sep 22, 2021
Not practicing Wednesday
Bosa didn't practice Wednesday due to a foot/ankle injury, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa played 82 percent of the defensive snaps in each of the first two games, and the injury isn't expected to affect his availability for Week 3. The 26-year-old has seven total tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
Sep 15, 2021
Picks up first sack this season
Bosa compiled four tackles (three solo), a forced fumble and a sack in Sunday's 20-16 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Bosa had two roughing the passer calls in Sunday's contest with the former actually extending a drive in which Washington scored points, but the explosive pass rusher otherwise was just as dominant as ever. Injuries limited Bosa to just 12 games last season, but the 26-year-old has been reportedly healthy throughout all of training camp leading up to 2021.
Jul 9, 2021
Present at minicamp
Bosa (concussion) participated in the Chargers' two-day minicamp in June, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2016 first-round pick signed a five-year, $135 million contract in July of 2020, and he finished with 39 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a fumble recovery over 12 games last season. A concussion ended his season prematurely, but the 25-year-old defensive end will be ready to rock for preseason and training camp. Through five NFL seasons, Bosa has accumulated 47.5 sacks over 63 games.
Jan 1, 2021
Out again for season finale
Bosa (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old will finish the season with two straight absences after suffering the concussion Week 15. Bosa ends the 2020 campaign with 39 tackles (29 solo), 7.5 sacks and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
Dec 30, 2020
Looks unlikely for Week 17
Coach Anthony Lynn said there's a "good chance" Bosa (concussion) won't be available Week 17, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa appears set to close out the 2020 campaign with back-to-back absences due to his second concussion of the season. At 6-9 the Chargers are already firmly eliminated from the playoffs, giving the team little incentive to rush the star defensive end back on the field. Isaac Rochell will stand to handle a sharp uptick in snaps if Bosa is indeed unable to face the Chiefs on Sunday.
Dec 25, 2020
Ruled out Week 16
Bosa (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old sustained the concussion during the Week 15 win over the Raiders and will be sidelined for at least one game. The Chargers have indicated they don't intend to shut Bosa down for the season, but the team is likely to remain caution heading into the final week of the regular season. Isaac Rochell is poised for increased work at defensive end for Los Angeles.
Dec 23, 2020
Concussion confirmed
Bosa is in the league's five-step concussion protocol Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Popper notes that the Chargers don't intend to shut Bosa down for the season, but given that the star defensive end is dealing with his second concussion in eight weeks, it would seem unlikely that the team rushes him back either. He missed two games due to a concussion earlier this season, and the Chargers have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
Dec 17, 2020
Checked for concussion
Bosa has exited Thursday's game against the Raiders and is being evaluated for a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was clearly playing through injuries Thursday, and he had four tackles (two solo) to begin overtime. If he's indeed placed in the concussion protocol, the star defensive end won't be eligible to retake the field. Earlier this season Bosa missed two games due to a concussion suffered Week 8.
Dec 16, 2020
Good to go after limited practice
Bosa (shin) doesn't carry an injury designation into Thursday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa practiced on a limited basis both Tuesday and Wednesday, showing enough to avoid an injury designation for Thursday's game. This shin injury limited the pass rusher's practice reps earlier this month, but he has still suited up for games and will do so again here as he looks to build on his season total of 7.5 sacks.
Dec 3, 2020
Upgrades in practice
Bosa (shin) was a limited participant during the Chargers' practice session Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa racked up eight tackles, three sacks, one pass deflection and a fumble recovery while fielding 85 percent of the defensive snaps last Sunday in a loss to the Bills. The two-time Pro Bowler was not declared to have inherited an injury postgame, so a DNP on Wednesday raised eyebrows. He's dealt with a myriad of health issues in 2020, including injuries to his triceps, ankle and knee in addition to a concussion, but the shin injury is a new development. Given that he's already upgraded to limited participation in practice, Bosa is seemingly on the right track towards suiting up Week 13 against the Patriots. His availability Friday will go a long way towards confirming as such.
Dec 2, 2020
Misses practice Wednesday
Bosa didn't suit up in Wednesday's practice due to a shin injury.
ANALYSIS
Both Bosa and Uchenna Nwosu (shoulder) resided on Wednesday's practice report, so the team is starting the week thin at defensive end. Bosa is coming off an eight tackle, three sack performance in last week's win over the Bills, so the team could be trying to manage his practice reps during the week. Bosa's participation level at practice during the rest of the week will be a better indicator of his chances to play Sunday against the Patriots.
Nov 30, 2020
Monster performance against Bills
Bosa recorded eight tackles, three sacks, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has put up two sacks in nine different games since entering the league in 2016, and he finally recorded a trio of sacks for the first time in his career. This was a magnificent outing for Bosa, as he also tied his career high in tackles. He'll look to keep it rolling against Cam Newton and the Patriots in Week 12.
Nov 19, 2020
Cleared from concussion protocol
Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn confirmed after Wednesday's practice that Bosa has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa was a full participant in the Chargers' first Week 11 practice, and the confirmation from his coach that he's no longer in the concussion protocol clears the way for the start defensive end to return from a two-game absence Sunday against the Jets. Through seven outings this season, Bosa has accrued 18 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
Nov 18, 2020
Still in concussion protocol
Coach Anthony Lynn said Wednesday that Bosa (concussion) is still in concussion protocol, though Lynn added that the team might have more info about Bosa's status by the end of the day, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa hasn't played since sustaining a concussion in Week 8, but he was able to practice on a limited basis last week, suggesting that he's trending in the right direction. If the standout pass-rusher is cleared in time to face the Jets on Sunday, he'll have a terrific opportunity to add to his season total of 4.5 sacks against one of the league's least impressive offensive lines.
Nov 13, 2020
Won't face Dolphins
Bosa (concussion) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Bosa managed to log a trio of limited practices this week, but he won't gain full clearance from the league's five-step concussion protocol in time to suit up against Miami. With Bosa out again, Jerry Tillery could get another opportunity to start across from Melvin Ingram.
Nov 11, 2020
Making progress in protocol
Bosa (concussion) participated in individual drills during Wednesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Anthony Lynn said that Bosa is still in the league's five-step concussion protocol. His return to practice even in a limited capacity is an encouraging sign for his chances to return this Sunday against the Dolphins. Jerry Tillery seemed to play the most in Bosa's place last week and figures to retain that role if Bosa is ultimately ruled out.
Nov 8, 2020
Sitting as expected Sunday
Bosa (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was considered doubtful for Sunday's contest, so it's no surprise he's not suiting up. Bosa still needs to clear the concussion protocol if he's to return for Week 10. Isaac Rochelle and Uchenna Nwosu figures to see increased snaps in his absence.
Nov 6, 2020
Doubtful for Week 9
Bosa (concussion) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will need to fully clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before being cleared to retake the field, and he appears to be a long-shot for Week 9. An absence by the star defensive end could provide Derek Carr the luxury of more stable protection in the pocket.
Nov 4, 2020
Unavailable for Wednesday's session
Bosa (concussion) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa suffered a concussion in this past Sunday's loss to the Broncos, and he's in the league's five-step protocol. The 25-year-old will aim to return to practice in a limited session by the end of the week. He's in danger of missing this Sunday's matchup against the Raiders, in which case Uchenna Nwosu and Isaac Rochell would take on larger roles.
Nov 2, 2020
Enters concussion protocol
Coach Anthony Lynn confirmed that Bosa suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Broncos, Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will now need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. He'll be monitored throughout the week, but he's in danger of missing the Week 9 matchup against Las Vegas. Uchenna Nwosu and Isaac Rochell will battle for the starting defensive end role if Bosa can't go.
Nov 1, 2020
Evaluated for concussion
Bosa is being evaluated for a concussion and has exited Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Bosa will need to avoid landing in the concussion protocol for any chance of retaking the field Sunday. The star defensive end was forced out in the middle of the fourth quarter. Isaac Rochell and Uchenna Nwosu stand to handle increased defensive snaps as long as Bosa is sidelined.
Oct 21, 2020
All clear Wednesday
Bosa (ankle) was absent from Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
The fact that the Ohio State product appears to be fully healthy is extremely positive news for the team coming out of its bye week. Bosa continued to play through the ankle issue, however, he only played in 37 percent of defensive snaps last time out in Week 5. Now that he's been left off the injury report, the hope is that Bosa has moved past the ankle issue to return to his old self, wrecking havoc along the defensive line.
Oct 14, 2020
Ankle still bothersome
Bosa, who suited up Monday against the Saints, said he wouldn't have been able to play if the game was on Sunday and that his ankle was the most bothersome of his array of injuries, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's comments suggest the standout pass rusher isn't out of the woods yet with his myriad injuries, but he should benefit from the schedule change that has the Chargers on bye in Week 6 rather than facing the Jets. His practice participation will be worth monitoring next week ahead of a Week 7 meeting with the Jaguars.
Oct 13, 2020
Manages to play, records sack
Bosa (ankle/knee/triceps) recorded one sack, two quarterback hits and a tackle in Monday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
It was clear Bosa was limited by long list of injuries as the Chargers opted to just use the pass rusher sparingly. The end result saw the fearsome pass rusher record just 37 percent of the team's defensive snaps, but he still managed to bother quarterback Drew Brees just about every time he dropped back to pass. The bye week probably couldn't have come at a better time for Bosa, who will look recover from his laundry list of injuries in time for the Week 7 matchup against the Jaguars.
Oct 12, 2020
Ready for Monday Night Football
Bosa (ankle/knee/triceps) is officially active for Monday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was originally considered questionable with triceps and knee issues, but he also picked up an ankle injury. Bosa has 12 total tackles and three sacks through four games and will lead the pass rush against a Saints offensive line that's surrendered only five sacks this season.
Oct 10, 2020
Questionable for MNF
Bosa (triceps/knee) is considered questionable for Monday's game versus the Saints, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has been a fixture on the injury report this season but has avoided missing time, although this was the first time this season he failed to practice fully during the week. The superstar defensive end is likely trending in the right direction still, but fantasy managers may want to start a replacement with the Chargers playing the second to last game of the week.
Oct 8, 2020
Absent from practice
Bosa (triceps/ankle) was a non-participant during Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be the norm in the interim for Bosa, as he went NP/LP/FP last week with the same injuries before suiting up in the game. Don't expect this week to be any different, but if he does suffer a setback, Isaac Rochell and Jessie Lemonier would be in line for a decent uptick in snaps.
Oct 2, 2020
Good for Week 4
Bosa (triceps/ankle) does not carry and injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Bosa upgraded to a full practice Friday after having been either limited or held out to begin the week. The star defensive end has notched a sack in three straight games, and he'll look to keep that momentum up against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
Oct 1, 2020
Upgrades practice participation
Bosa (triceps/ankle) was limited during Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The two-time Pro Bowler has been playing through a triceps injury in recent weeks, though it doesn't seem to be an unmanageable injury given that he's recorded a sack in Weeks 1, 2 and 3. Bosa just played a season-high 98 percent of the defensive workload Sunday in a loss to the Panthers, though his ankle issue is something that has popped up on the injury report this week. At this stage it doesn't appear Bosa's availability for Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers is in serious question, though his level of involvement during Friday's practice may provide confirmation.
Sep 30, 2020
Sits out practice Wednesday
Bosa (triceps) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa has been on the injury report for the last two weeks with a triceps injury, and he's been able to play through it just fine. There isn't any real concern for his availability Sunday versus the Buccaneers unless he remains absent Thursday and Friday.
Sep 29, 2020
Three straight weeks with sack
Bosa picked up two tackles and a sack in the 21-16 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It was another poor outing for Bosa, as he jumped offside or drew a neutral zone infraction on at least three plays throughout the course of the game. Luckily those gaffes don't count against IDP users, but it's been a bit surprising to see Bosa struggle so much with opposing hard counts. To make matters worse, he's been ineffective against the run as well with the Panthers repeatedly running directly at his side of the line. Three straight weeks with a sack is all fantasy managers will ask for, but the play on the field certainly has not warranted his massive offseason contract extension.
Sep 22, 2020
Sack masks poor outing
Bosa posted four tackles (two solo), one sack, one tackle for a loss and two quarterback hits in the overtime loss Sunday to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's game probably looks better on the box score than it does in real life as the fearsome pass rusher was victimized by hard counts from Patrick Mahomes on multiple occasions which either extended a play or outright gave the Chiefs a first down. It's hard to fault Bosa given the matchup, and it seems likely he could have an opportunity to make similar plays next week against the Panthers' porous offensive line.
Sep 18, 2020
Ready to take on Chiefs
Bosa (triceps) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Kansas City, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa upgraded to a full practice Friday after having begun the week with an absence and a limited session. The Chargers will count on the star defensive end to dominate his matchups during Sunday's game against the reigning Super Bowl champions. Bosa is an every-week starter in IDP formats as long as he's on the field.
Sep 17, 2020
Upgrated to limited
Bosa (triceps) was a limited participant for Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Bosa popped up on the injury report Wednesday, however, he suited up in some fashion Thursday after missing practice entirely just a day before. Expect the Ohio State product to be out there for Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs, however, if he suffers a set back Isaac Rochell and Uchenna Nwosu would be in line for an uptick in snaps.
Sep 16, 2020
Placed on injury report
Bosa (triceps) didn't suit up in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how Bosa suffered the injury, however, it could be an opportunity to give the Ohio State product some rest during the week. Bosa racked up five tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss in Sunday's win over Cincinnati, and it's still too early to panic about his status for Week 2's matchup against the Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
Sep 14, 2020
Notches first sack
Bosa tallied five tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss and three quarterback hits.
ANALYSIS
Bosa wreaked havoc on rookie quarterback Joe Burrow throughout the game. He got to him for a sack early in the second quarter, taking Burrow down for a three-yard loss. Even when he didn't get home for a sack, he was regularly in the backfield causing pressure and incompletions. That's nothing new for Bosa, as he looks prepared to follow up on 11.5 sack season in 2019.
Jul 28, 2020
Inks massive extension
Bosa has agreed to terms on a five-year, $135 million contract extension with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bosa's new deal is a record for defensive players and includes $102 million guaranteed. The contract ties the two-time Pro Bowler to Los Angeles for the next six seasons, solidifying his position one of the team's defensive cornerstones for the foreseeable future. Still just 25 years old, Bosa has never finished with less than double-digit sacks in seasons where he's played at least 10 games. For the upcoming campaign, Bosa will once again suit up alongside Melvin Ingram to form one of the most formidable pass-rush duos in the league.
