Battles through injury in win
Love completed 13 of 24 passes for 174 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding two rushes for seven yards in the Packers' 27-20 win over the Giants on Sunday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.
ANALYSIS
Love was forced from the game at one point due to a shoulder injury, and although Zach Jacobson of 24/7 Sports reports the quarterback's shoulder was in good enough shape for him to reenter the game, it will undergo further evaluation by the team's medical staff in Green Bay. Meanwhile, Love was able to lead the Packers to victory against a feisty Giants team, connecting with Josh Whyle (two yards) and Christian Watson (17 yards) for his pair of scoring tosses. Love added a two-point conversion to Emanuel Wilson after the latter TD, and that sequence provided what proved to be the game-winning points. Love snapped a three-game TD-pass drought with the pair of scoring strikes and will next face a talented Vikings defense in a Week 12 home divisional showdown next Sunday.

Back in Sunday's game
Love was able to return to Sunday's game against the Giants after having exited the contest with a left shoulder injury, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While Love was getting his non-throwing shoulder looked at, Malik Willis completed both of his passing attempts for six yards and a TD and carried once for 16 yards.

Hurts left shoulder
Love was forced out of Sunday's game against the Giants after sustaining a left shoulder injury.
ANALYSIS
Before headed to the locker room to get his non-throwing shoulder checked out, Love completed one of his four passes for minus-1 yard and carried twice for seven yards before the injury. Malik Willis has taken over at QB for the Packers.

Uninspired performance in loss
Love completed 20 of 36 passes for 176 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions while adding five rushes for 28 yards in the Packers' 10-7 loss to the Eagles on Monday night. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Love's night didn't even live up to his middling numbers, as 71 of the veteran signal-caller's yardage came on the last two drives. The Packers' five first-half drives resulted in four punts and a lost fumble by Love on a sack, and he averaged a season-low 4.9 yards per attempt overall. Love also went without a touchdown pass for the second straight game while producing his fourth sub-200-yard tally of the campaign, leaving him with plenty of room for improvement in a Week 11 road matchup against the Giants on Sunday.
Nov 2, 2025
Can't find end zone in Week 9 loss
Love completed 26 of 37 passes for 273 yards and an interception in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers. He added one yard on his only carry.
ANALYSIS
While Love saw plenty of pass volume he wasn't able to get the ball into the end zone for the first time in 2025, with Josh Jacobs punching in Green Bay's only TD of the afternoon. Those struggles may have stemmed in large part from the loss of Love's favorite target, as tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) left the game in the third quarter and didn't return. Rookie wideout Matthew Golden (shoulder) was also knocked out of the game early in the third quarter, further depleting his downfield options. The Packers still have some depth at WR, especially if Dontayvion Wicks (calf) returns soon, but Love could be facing some extra obstacles in Week 10 against the Eagles.

Sterling three-TD showing on SNF
Love completed 29 of 37 pass attempts for 360 yards and three touchdowns while losing one yard on a kneel down in Sunday's 35-25 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Love was nearly flawless in Sunday's primetime victory. finishing with a season-high 78.3 percent completion rate. It was the 26-year-old's second time eclipsing 300 passing yards while throwing for three touchdowns this season. Interestingly, both occurrences have come on Sunday Night Football broadcasts, with Love throwing for 337 yards and three scores in a memorable 40-40 tie against Dallas in Week 4. It was fitting that Sunday's standout performance came against Packers' legend Aaron Rodgers, as Love is doing his best prime Rodgers impersonation with 13 touchdowns to just two interceptions through seven starts in 2025. Love checks in as an elite fantasy option heading into a soft matchup against the Panthers in Week 9.
Oct 19, 2025
Leads late rally over Cards
Love completed 19 of 29 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Cardinals. He added 22 rushing yards on four carries.
ANALYSIS
The Packers' offense slept through the first half, managing only two field goals, but Love was able to get thing going after halftime as the team rallied from a 13-6 deficit with three second-half TDs, including a seven-yard TD pass to Tucker Kraft. Love has had an efficient start to the season, posting a 10:2 TD:INT through six games, but he's thrown a single touchdown in three of his last four starts. He may need to be more productive in Week 8 as the Packers have a showdown with Aaron Rodgers and his new club, the Steelers.
Oct 12, 2025
Efficient showing against Bengals
Love completed 19 of 26 passes for 259 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 27-18 win over the Bengals. He added seven rushes for 26 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Packers were happy to rely upon Josh Jacobs as the primary driver of their offense, but Love turned in a strong performance when called upon. He completed six passes of at least 20 yards and tacked on a touchdown pass of 19 yards. Love continues to operate Green Bay's offense effectively, though he's now taken to the air fewer than 30 times in three of five games this season. That makes him reliant upon big plays and touchdowns to deliver for fantasy purposes.
Sep 29, 2025
Three touchdowns against Cowboys
Love completed 31 of 43 passes for 337 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 40-40 tie against the Cowboys. He added three rushes for 28 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love has been efficient all season and that didn't change Sunday night, as he averaged 7.8 yards per attempt while completing four passes of more than 20 yards. The Packers were also pushed offensively by Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, with Love attempting at least 40 passes for only the sixth time in a regular-season contest in his career. Love targeted seven pass catchers at least three times, though he connected with Romeo Doubs for all three of his touchdowns and hit Matthew Golden for a 46-yard gain -- his longest of the night. Love has had mediocre fantasy results to begin the season, but he has multiple touchdown passes in three of four contests while topping 250 passing yards twice.
Sep 21, 2025
Falls victim to Browns D
Love completed 18 of 25 passes for 183 yards with a touchdown and an interception and rushed four times for 18 yards in the Packers' 13-10 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Love's final stat line -- not to mention the final score -- both hint plenty at what type of day it was for the Packers offense, and additional insight can be gleaned from the fact Love was sacked five times and hit seven times overall. The talented signal-caller had a tight circle of six targets overall in his first full game of 2025 without Jayden Reed (IR-collarbone/foot), and his interception at his own 29-yard line with just over three minutes remaining set the Browns up for a game-tying touchdown. Love has thrown for under 200 yards in two of his first three games, but he takes an impressive 5:1 TD:INT into a Week 4 Sunday night road matchup against the Cowboys.
Sep 11, 2025
Just shy of 300 yards in win
Love completed 19 of 31 passes for 292 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding three rushes for 12 yards in the Packers' 27-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Love's 9.4 yards per attempt tells the story of his ability to pierce the Commanders' secondary for chunk plays throughout the night. Love's notable completions included 23- and 57-yard connections with tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft, respectively, as well as a 37-yard strike to Malik Heath. Meanwhile, Romeo Doubs (five yards) and Kraft (eight yards) were on the receiving end of Love's pair of scoring tosses, and he finished the night having recorded completions to six different pass catches overall. Love now has a 4:0 TD:INT and six passes of 20+ yards through two games, affording him massive momentum heading into a Week 3 road matchup against the Browns on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Sep 7, 2025
Tosses two TDs in win
Love completed 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Lions. He also rushed three times for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Love threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Tucker Kraft in the first quarter and a 17-yarder to Jayden Reed in the second to help the Packers take a 17-3 lead into the locker room. Green Bay's defense and running game took it from there, but it was still disappointing to see Love come up short of 200 passing yards for the fourth straight start dating back to the 2024 regular season. He also hasn't thrown more than two touchdown passes in a game since Week 7 of last season, and ending that drought won't be easy on a short week Thursday against a Commanders defense that just held the Giants without a touchdown.

Practices in full Wednesday
Love (thumb) officially was a full practice participant Wednesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur announced that Love was handling every practice rep as of last Wednesday after the quarterback underwent a procedure for a ligament injury in his left thumb following preseason Week 1. According to Demovsky, Love continued to wear a brace on the thumb in question this Wednesday, but he told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic afterward that it isn't limiting him, and that he'll be able to hand off normally Sunday versus the Lions. Love thus is set for his first game action with rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden this weekend, but there's a chance WR Jayden Reed isn't available due to a Jones fracture in his left foot that kept him off the field to start Week 1 prep.
Aug 27, 2025
Back to full practice
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (thumb) will be a full practice participant Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love suited up preseason Week 1 against the Jets, but that marked his only appearance of exhibition season, as he underwent a procedure for a ligament injury in his left thumb following that contest. He was able to return to practice as of last Monday, but his reps were managed in the meantime due to his recovery effort. On Wednesday, though, Love finally will take snaps under center for the first time since the surgery, as LaFleur told Ryan Wood of USA Today. Love thus appears on pace to be available Sunday, Sept. 7 versus the Lions.
Aug 23, 2025
May take snaps this week
Coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers are hopeful that Love (thumb) will be able to take snaps when the team reconvenes for practice Tuesday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love had surgery on Aug. 12 to address a ligament injury in his left thumb and was able to practice on a limited basis as of this past Monday. Green Bay predictably held him out of its final two preseason contests, allowing backup QB Malik Willis to get some run with the starters in Saturday's exhibition win against the Seahawks in particular. There's little concern about Love's availability for a Week 1 matchup with the Lions on Sunday, Sept. 7, and increasing his team drills this coming week would put him on pace to do so.
Aug 23, 2025
Not playing in preseason finale
Love (thumb) isn't in uniform for Saturday's preseason finale against Seattle, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love had surgery Aug. 12 on his left thumb and was a limited practice participant at last update. There's been no concern expressed about his Week 1 status, with Love fully expected to start in a home game against the Lions. The health of his wide receivers is more of a concern, with Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) both missing extended time this summer.
Aug 18, 2025
Taking part in 7-on-7s
Love (thumb) is participating in 7-on-7 drills at Monday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said over the weekend that the team would consider deploying modifications to 7-on-7 drills to allow Love to safely participate as he works his way back from surgery undergone Aug. 12 to address a ligament injury in his left thumb. Meanwhile, Romeo Doubs (back) has returned to practice and is working in team drills with Malik Willis, who will continue to handle first-team reps until Love is fully cleared. All indications from Green Bay are that Love is fully on track for Week 1 against Detroit on Sunday, Sept. 7, but it wouldn't be surprising for LaFleur to hold the starting quarterback out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Seahawks, even if it's possible he could suit up were it a regular-season affair. With Week 1 the clear priority, expect the Packers to take a cautious approach as Love ramps up his activity level.
Aug 18, 2025
Limited in return to practice
Love (thumb) is returning to practice Monday but backup quarterback Malik Willis will open first-team reps under center, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love's left thumb remains heavily taped in a soft cast, and Packers coach Matt LaFleur already indicated that he wouldn't be a candidate to return to 11-on-11 reps this week. LaFleur did say Green Bay is considering making some alterations to 7-on-7 drills that would allow Love to participate, however, so it's possible he gets some team work in, but a timetable for the starting quarterback's full clearance remains undetermined. Love likely won't a candidate to suit up for Saturday's preseason finale against the Seahawks, however, as the Packers continue to prioritize his availability for Week 1. Meanwhile, starting wideout Romeo Doubs (back) has returned to practice in some capacity Monday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Aug 17, 2025
Could return to practice Monday
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday they'll "hopefully get [Love] back in some capacity to practice" this week and will "see how he's doing" Monday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Love underwent surgery to address a ligament injury in his left thumb Tuesday, and he wore a soft cast while not participating in joint practices with the Colts on Thursday. Love did not suit up during Saturday's 22-19 preseason victory over Indianapolis either. LaFleur added Sunday that the team will "alter some things" to get the quarterback involved during 7-on-7 sessions this week, so it's unclear if/when the team hopes to have him return in full during training camp. His last chance to play during the preseason will come during the finale against Seattle on Saturday, Aug. 23. But the team will likely prioritize avoiding any setbacks for Love before the regular-season opener versus Detroit on Sunday, Sept. 7 -- especially as the team continues to work through injuries for wideouts Jayden Reed (foot), Romeo Doubs (back) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) during training camp. Wideout Christian Watson (ACL) is still on the active/PUP list as well.
Aug 14, 2025
Wearing cast on left hand
Love (thumb) is not practicing Thursday and is wearing a soft cast on his left hand, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love won't practice as he continues to recover from surgery undergone to address a ligament injury in his left thumb, but the Packers still expect him to resume handling reps next weeks. The starting quarterback wasn't expected to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Colts even if healthy, but it now remains to be seen whether he'll be able to log action in the team's preseason finale against Seattle on Saturday, Aug. 23. Elsewhere on the roster, Jayden Reed (foot) shed his walking boot Thursday but remains unable to practice, as do Romeo Doubs (back), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and active/PUP list resident Christian Watson (ACL).
Aug 12, 2025
Needs procedure on left thumb
Love is undergoing a procedure for a ligament injury in his left thumb, with the Packers hoping he'll be back at practice next week, Paul Bretl of ESPN LaCrosse 105.5 reports.
ANALYSIS
Love suffered the injury during Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets, in which he completed one of five passes for seven yards over two drives. He wasn't expected to play in Green Bay's second preseason game anyway, and it sounds like he'll be back in practice well before the start of the regular season. The thumb injury would be a much bigger concern if it impacted his throwing hand. As is, Love doesn't seem to be in much danger of missing Week 1.
Aug 11, 2025
Starters likely to rest Saturday
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday he expects Green Bay's starters to rest during Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, but that the plan is subject to change based on the week of practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur made clear that he wasn't satisfied with the sloppy cameo Love and the starting offense made during Green Bay's 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets over the weekend, in which the starting QB completed just one of five passes for seven yards, in part due to multiple drops by his pass-catching corps. "I just want to see improvement out there on the practice field," LaFleur said, noting that "if we don't feel great about it, and we feel like we need the work," then the starters could end up suiting up for preseason action against Indianapolis on Saturday. Dontayvion Wicks (calf) could have a chance to be back in action versus the Colts, but No. 1 wideout Jayden Reed (foot) is wearing a walking boot and LaFleur hasn't provided a tangible update on his injury severity or recovery timetable.
Aug 9, 2025
Ragged cameo in preseason loss
Love completed one of five passes for seven yards during the Packers' 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Love was in on Green Bay's first two possessions, but as his final line implies, he couldn't get much going despite having some familiar faces around him at the skill positions. Love three incomplete to Romeo Doubs on his first two attempts and then failed to connect with Malik Heath on his first throw of the Packers' second drive but then finally got on the board with a seven-yard strike to rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden. Love ended up taking a sack on his final dropback of the night, making it a rocky way to open the preseason. The 2020 first-round pick is likely in for a longer stint under center during the Packers' second preseason game, which comes on the road against the Colts next Saturday afternoon.
Aug 7, 2025
In line for playing time Saturday
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that he intends for all four of Green Bay's quarterbacks, including Love, to get "meaningful reps" during Saturday's preseason opener against the Jets, Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love and the Packers' starters may not play more than a handful of series Saturday, especially if the plan is for all of Malik Willis, Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma to get significant playing time, but it will be interesting to see the 26-year-old in action with rookie first-round wideout Matthew Golden, who already seems to have played his way into a starting role alongside Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and TE Tucker Kraft. Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Love intends to run more this season rather than look for check-downs, which portends a higher fantasy ceiling after an MCL sprain and groin injury limited his scrambling abilities in 2024.
Aug 7, 2025
Hoping to scramble more
Love said Wednesday that he wants to scramble more this season, rather than settling for check-downs, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Love and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich both are on board with scrambling more often, although Love noted that his lack of rushing last year was partially a product of an MCL sprain and groin injury limiting his mobility for the first half of the season. He ultimately scrambled 12 times on 451 dropbacks (2.7 percent), down from 22 scrambles on 631 dropbacks (3.5 percent) the year before, dropping from 14.5 rushing yards per game and four TDs in 2023 to just 5.5 yards per game and one TD in 2024. Love otherwise remained efficient on a per-play basis, but his fantasy value took a nosedive with the Packers becoming more reliant on their running game -- both in general and near the goal line. A healthier season from Love combined with a solid showing from rookie wideout Matthew Golden could inspire Packers coach Matt LaFleur to open things back up and chuck the ball around some like he did in 2023.
Jan 12, 2025
Three picks in loss to Eagles
Love completed 20 of 33 passes for 212 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Eagles. He added two rushes for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love was without some of his top pass-catching options for significant portions of the game and was also dealing with a beat-up offensive line. Even with that context, it was a disappointing showing, highlighted by an interception shortly before halftime that denied the Packers a potential scoring opportunity. Love did find some rhythm in the second half, as he completed 11 of his 18 passes for 142 yards, though it wasn't enough to complete the comeback bid. He'll enter the offseason looking to get healthy after enduring a 2024 season that included both upper and lower-body injuries, and he'll be back to lead the Packers' offense once again in 2025.
Jan 9, 2025
Logs full practice Thursday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (elbow) practiced fully Thursday, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur added that Love "looked good" after kicking off the week as limited. Love relayed Wednesday that his right hand didn't have any lingering numbness, but his right elbow still had some soreness, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. With an uncapped session under his belt, Love is good to go for Sunday's wild-card game at Philadelphia, against whom he went for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 17-for-34 passing back in Week 1.
Jan 8, 2025
Officially limited Wednesday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (elbow) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Love made an early departure from this past Sunday's loss to the Bears with a right elbow injury that resulted in a loss of feeling in his right hand. He was able to take part in Wednesday's team stretch and warmups, and in the ensuing practice outside that was closed to the media, he was able to throw, as LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The extent to which Love attempted passes is unclear, but he at least has laid the groundwork to make himself available for Sunday's wild-card game in Philadelphia. Love's activity level Thursday and Friday likely will be key for his ability to suit up this weekend.
Jan 8, 2025
Warms up, but practice status TBD
Love (elbow) took part in Wednesday's team stretch and warmups before the Packers went outside for practice, the latter of which was closed to the media, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love banged his right elbow early in the second quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Bears, and while he was seen throwing multiple times on the sideline, he wasn't able to return to the game. Coach Matt LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic afterward that Love lost feeling in his right throwing hand as a result of the play, and LaFleur then said Monday that the quarterback is "going to be okay"but was unsure how much he'd be able to handle in practice as Green Bay prepares for Sunday's wild-card game at Philadelphia, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Wednesday's injury report will reveal Love's activity level to begin the week.
Jan 6, 2025
Practice status uncertain
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that he thinks Love (hand) is "going to be okay" but that it's not yet clear whether he'll be limited in practice heading into Sunday's wild-card round matchup against the Eagles, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was forced out of Sunday's loss to the Bears in the second quarter after falling early on his right elbow, an event which the quarterback said resulted in his losing feeling in his throwing hand. LaFleur called Love's withdrawal precautionary Sunday, but it's unclear at this point whether the starting quarterback will be 100 percent healthy by the time Sunday's playoff contest on the road in Philadelphia rolls around. In the wake of Christian Watson (knee) sustaining a season-ending torn ACL, Love's top three wide receivers will now be Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs (illness) and Dontayvion Wicks, with Bo Melton and Malik Heath available as depth contributors.
Jan 5, 2025
Lost feeling in hand Sunday
Love (elbow) said he lost feeling in his right throwing hand after falling on it early in the second quarter of Sunday's defeat to the Bears, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love's comments come mere minutes after coach Matt LaFleur told Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com that the quarterback was held out as a precaution after getting injured. Love also relayed that he isn't 100 percent postgame, but he feels confident about his odds to be available in the wild-card round at Philadelphia next weekend. Malik Willis stepped in for Love in Week 18, completing 10 of 13 passes for 136 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, notching a three-yard carry and losing his only fumble.
Jan 5, 2025
Held out Sunday as precaution
Coach Matt LaFleur said after Sunday's loss to the Bears that Love (elbow) could have returned but was held out as a precaution, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love didn't see a snap after banging his right elbow early in the second quarter while completing a short pass to RB Josh Jacobs that wqas negated by penalty. At various points during the contest, though, Love was seen throwing passes on the sideline, only to remain there while Malik Willis led the offense. Love's status now will bear monitoring as the Packers gear up for a wild-card game at Philadelphia next weekend.
Jan 5, 2025
Injures elbow in Week 18
Love sustained a right elbow injury during Sunday's game versus the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Love seemed to get injured while trying to get the ball to RB Josh Jacobs in a crowded backfield early in the second quarter. Love was seen being tended to on the sideline before the Packers deemed him questionable to return. Malik Willis will direct the offense for as long as Love is sidelined.
Dec 29, 2024
Quiet against Vikings
Love completed 19 of 30 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Vikings. He added one rush for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Love and the Packers couldn't get anything going to begin the game, running five or fewer offensive plays in four of their five possessions in the first half. He managed to turn things around a bit in the final two quarters as the team made a furious comeback, with the highlights being a 35-yard completion down the seam to Tucker Kraft and a three-yard touchdown pass to Malik Heath. Overall, Love has had poor results for fantasy purposes since Green Bay's Week 10 bye, as he's topped 250 yards just twice and thrown for multiple scores only three times in seven games.
Dec 23, 2024
Falls victim to game script
Love completed 16 of 28 pass attempts for 182 yards and a touchdown while taking his only carry for two yards in Monday's 34-0 rout of the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Love kicked off the scoring for the Packers with a short touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks on the game's opening drive. The 26-year-old Love wasn't utilized much for the remainder of the contest with Green Bay's ground game hitting pay dirt thrice in the blowout victory. Love was eventually replaced by backup Malik Willis with six minutes left in the fourth quarter in order to preserve the starter's health ahead of Sunday's road tilt against Minnesota.
Dec 17, 2024
No concern about thigh injury
Head coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Love took a hit to his thigh during Sunday's 30-13 win over the Seahawks, but the Packers expect the quarterback to be a full participant in practice throughout Week 16, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Love played all 64 of the Packers' offensive snaps in the Week 15 win, he was seen limping late in the game, which LaFleur addressed during his media session Tuesday. With the coach downplaying any concern about Love's health, fantasy managers should feel comfortable with deploying the quarterback as they normally would heading into a favorable Week 16 matchup with the Saints on Monday night. While Green Bay's heavy reliance on the Josh Jacobs-led run game has limited his overall passing volume of late, Love has been highly efficient over his last four starts with an average of 218.0 yards per game and 8.9 yards per attempt to go with seven touchdowns and no interceptions.
Dec 15, 2024
Efficient early in Week 15 win
Love completed 20 of 27 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Seahawks. He added one rushing attempt for four yards.
ANALYSIS
After Josh Jacobs ran in a touchdown on the opening drive, Love doubled Green Bay's lead with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs. Love had only one incompletion as the Packers produced points on all four of their first-half drives to take a 20-3 lead into the locker room. Green Bay's offense slowed down in the second half but the defense did its job and Love added some breathing room with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs with 4:59 left in the fourth quarter. This clean performance improved Love's TD:INT to 23:11 heading into a Week 16 home game against the Saints.
Dec 6, 2024
Uneven performance in division loss
Love completed 12 of 20 passes for 206 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed four times for 23 yards in the Packers' 34-31 loss to the Lions on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Love averaged an impressive 10.3 yards per attempt, but he recorded his second-fewest number of pass attempts this season against a Lions squad that had forced opponents to the air plenty. With stalwart interior lineman DJ Reader (shoulder) sidelined and fellow defensive tackle Alim McNiell (head) exiting for the Lions early in the contest, the Packers were able to lean on Josh Jacobs on the ground about as much as usual, and Love was also the victim of Detroit's 12-minute-plus time-of-possession advantage. His one touchdown pass went to Tucker Kraft from 12 yards out to cap off the first possession of the second half, a drive Love ignited with a 59-yard completion to Christian Watson. The fourth-year signal-caller does now have a three-game interception-less streak, and Love should be more active through the air in a key Week 15 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday night, Dec. 15.
Nov 28, 2024
Big performance against Miami
Love completed 21 of 28 passes for 274 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Thursday's 30-17 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Love got off to a quick start, as he threw a pair of touchdowns to Jayden Reed by halftime. The Packers slowed things down in the final two quarters as they maintained a three-score lead, but Love managed to rack up yardage thanks to 49 and 46-yard completions. He also limited mistakes and negative plays, as he didn't turn the ball over and didn't take a sack. This was arguably Love's most well-rounded game of the season and should give the Green Bay offense some momentum heading into a pivotal Week 14 showdown with the Lions.
Nov 24, 2024
Throws two scores in lopsided win
Love completed 13 of 23 pass attempts for 163 yards and two touchdowns while rushing once for two yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Love wasn't needed much in Sunday's victory over the opponent's backup quarterback, attempting his third-fewest pass attempts this season. The 26-year-old threw for multiple touchdowns for the first time since Week 7, confirming his improved health following a stretch where he likely wasn't playing at full strength. Love will stay in Green Bay on a short week to host the Dolphins this Thursday on Thanksgiving.

Hits on big plays in win
Love completed 13 of 17 passes for 261 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Packers' 20-19 win over the Bears on Sunday. He also rushed four time for 18 yards and another score.
ANALYSIS
Love finished the game with an elevated average of 15.4 yards per attempt, hitting on several chunk plays through the air over the course of the narrow win. The longest was a 60-yarder to Christian Watson on the second play of what would turn out to be the Packers' game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, one Love capped off himself with a one-yard touchdown run with 2:59 remaining. Love now has 534 passing yards on 36 completions over his last two games and appears to be fully past the groin injury that had limited him going into the Week 10 bye, setting him up well for a Week 12 home showdown against the 49ers next Sunday.

Logs full practice Wednesday
Love (groin) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Love exited early during the Packers' Week 8 win at Jacksonville due to a strained groin but was able to play every snap in a Week 9 loss to the Lions. He struggled in rainy conditions in the latter contest, completing 23 of 39 passes for 273 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while being credited with three fumbles, none of which he lost. With the team's Week 9 bye to heal up, Love is good to go moving forward, but running backs Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) and MarShawn Lloyd (ankle/hamstring) both were limited participants Wednesday, leaving the backfield in some flux ahead of Sunday's contest at Chicago.

Struggles in rainy conditions
Love completed 23 of 39 passes for 273 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Love played through a groin injury that limited his practice participation throughout the week. At first glance, his stat line appears decent, as he averaged 7.0 yards per attempt and topped 250 passing yards fourth time in seven games. However, he threw a pick-six just before halftime on an ill-advised play and later missed Dontayvion Wicks wide open in the end zone as the Packers tried to make a comeback early in the fourth quarter. Love has now failed to throw a touchdown in consecutive starts as the Packers head into their bye week.
Nov 3, 2024
Active in Week 9
Love (groin) is listed as active Sunday versus the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
One week removed from making an early departure from a Week 8 win at Jacksonville due to a groin strain, Love will suit up and continue to direct the Packers' offense after capping Week 9 prep with back-to-back limited practices. He'll be taking on a Detroit defense that has allowed the second-fewest passing touchdowns (six) to opposing quarterbacks in seven games this season.
Nov 2, 2024
Expected to play Sunday
Love (groin) -- who is listed as questionable -- is expected to start Sunday's game against the Lions, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Pelissero, Love, who logged limited practices Thursday and Friday, didn't encounter any setbacks or surprises during the week, which puts him on track to face Detroit. Official confirmation of the QB's Week 9 status will arrive when the Packers post their inactives ahead of Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff, but at this stage it looks like Love will be available.
Nov 1, 2024
Listed as questionable
Love (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
As promised earlier by coach Matt LaFleur, who otherwise declined to give hints about whether or not Love will play. Malik Willis will fill in as the starting QB if Love ends up inactive ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff despite managing limited practice participation Thursday and Friday.
Nov 1, 2024
Has chance to play Sunday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (groin) was limited at Friday's practice and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Lions, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of exiting early from a Week 8 win at Jacksonville, Love was diagnosed with a strained groin and deemed day-to-day. He proceeded to sit out Wednesday's practice before logging back-to-back capped sessions to wrap up Week 9 prep. The Packers are giving him a chance to be available this weekend, as LaFleur wouldn't definitively say one way or another whether Love will be able to suit up Sunday, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Malik Willis would get the start if Love isn't able to go.
Oct 31, 2024
Limited in return to practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Love (groin) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
A groin strain knocked Love out of this past Sunday's 30-27 win over the Jaguars, but the quarterback is considered day-to-day and remains hopeful to start this weekend's matchup with the Lions in Green Bay. Love's ability to return to practice in some fashion Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session is an encouraging sign, though a decision on whether he'll be available to play this weekend may not be made until after Friday's practice. Malik Willis would be in store for his third start of the season Sunday if Love can't go.
Oct 31, 2024
Back at practice Thursday
Love (groin) practiced Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love made an early departure from Week 8 action in Jacksonville due to what eventually was termed a strained groin, leaving him day-to-day as a result. He wasn't able to practice Wednesday, but he also told Ryan Wood of USA Today that it was "realistic" for him to be able to play Sunday against the Lions. Love may just be testing out the state of his groin midweek, but with at least a limited session under his belt, he seemingly has put himself in a position to suit up this weekend. Malik Willis would get the nod under center if Love isn't able to go.
Oct 30, 2024
'Realistic" to play Sunday
Love (groin), who didn't practice Wednesday, believes "it's realistic" for him to play Sunday against the Lions, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was diagnosed with a strained groin in the wake of getting injured this past Sunday at Jacksonville, leaving him day to day. Backup QB Malik Willis ended up directing the offense in the second half en route to a 30-27 win, and he would fill in for Love for a third time this season if the latter isn't cleared to suit up. Love would put himself in a better position to retain his starting role by returning to practice Thursday or Friday, and the Packers' first occasion in which to make a ruling on his availability for Sunday's contest will be on the final Week 9 injury report.
Oct 30, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Love (groin) is not participating in Wednesday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love got some work in on an exercise bike but did not ultimately take the practice field with teammates, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. The starting quarterback was knocked out of Green Bay's win over Jacksonville in Week 7 due to a groin strain, for which he's been labeled day-to-day. It sounds like Love still has a chance to be available for Sunday's pivotal divisional matchup against Detroit, but he now has only two more opportunities to officially get on the practice field prior to Week 8 action. Malik Willis will start under center for the Packers in the event that Love can't go.
Oct 28, 2024
Day-to-day with groin strain
Love (groin) is considered day-to-day after an MRI undergone Monday revealed the nature of the injury that forced him out of Sunday's 30-27 win over Jacksonville to be a strain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love will be considered day-to-day heading into Week 9 action against the Loins, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, with the diagnosis of a groin strain providing some optimism that the franchise quarterback may not have to miss time. During Sunday's win over Jacksonville, Love was visibly hobbled by the second quarter before being forced out of the game early in the second half, after which point Malik Willis took over under center. Green Bay will benefit from a Week 10 bye after a pivotal divisional matchup against Detroit on Nov. 3, so if the team has any lingering concern about Love's injury the decision could be made to opt for caution. Love figures to get every chance to demonstrate his health during practice, though, with Green Bay scheduled to next take the field Wednesday.
Oct 27, 2024
Slated for tests on injured groin
Love is slated to undergo tests on his injured groin Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was clearly hobbled in the second quarter and then was forced out of Sunday's eventual win at Jacksonville in the third quarter, handing over the offense to backup Malik Willis for the rest of the contest. There's a belief that Love doesn't have a long-term injury, but with a Week 10 bye following the Packers' next outing Nov. 3 against the Lions, the team may exercise caution with him to ensure he's good to go for the stretch run of the campaign. Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, coach Matt LaFleur intimated as much after the game, saying, "Obviously, (there's a) high level of concern" with Love because the QB and team "didn't feel like he could protect himself." Green Bay will take the field again Wednesday in preparation for next Sunday's matchup.
Oct 27, 2024
Injures groin Sunday
Love exited Sunday's game at Jacksonville in the third quarter due to a groin injury.
ANALYSIS
Love seemed to be favoring his lower body late in the first half and then sustained a hit in the third quarter that forced an early departure. If he's unable to return, Love will finish Week 8 having completed 14 of 22 passes for 196 yards, no touchdowns and one interception and with one carry for minus-1 yard. Malik Willis took over for Love under center.
Oct 20, 2024
Overcomes two INTs to beat Texans
Love completed 24 of 33 passes for 220 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Love's second pass of the game was intercepted, but the defense bailed him out and held the Texans to a field goal on Houston's ensuing instant red-zone opportunity. He bounced back with touchdown passes of 14 yards to Tucker Kraft and 30 yards to Dontayvion Wicks in the second quarter, then added another interception as the Packers took a 19-14 deficit into the locker room. Green Bay reclaimed the lead courtesy of an eight-yard Love touchdown pass to Josh Jacobs in the third quarter, and after falling behind in the fourth, Love got the Packers in position for Brandon McManus' game-winning 45-yard field goal on the game's final play. Love has been more Brett Favre than Aaron Rodgers in his gun-slinging mentality (though obviously far less accomplished than either former Packers great), as he has thrown multiple touchdowns but also been picked off in all five of his starts this season en route to a 15:8 TD:INT. Another multi-touchdown passing performance is likely forthcoming from Love in Week 8 against the 2-
Oct 13, 2024
Tosses four TDs in Week 6 win
Love completed 22 of 32 passes for 258 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Cardinals. He added five rushing attempts for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Reed in the first quarter before adding touchdown passes of 10 yards to Romeo Doubs and 44 yards to Christian Watson in the second quarter. His hot start got the Packers a 24-0 lead, but the Cardinals responded with 13 consecutive points, aided by a Love interception. He halted Arizona's comeback bid with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Doubs, and three fumble recoveries by the Packers defense helped Green Bay hold on for the easy win. Love will look to extend his streak of eight consecutive regular-season starts with multiple touchdown passes when the Packers host the Texans at Lambeau Field in Week 7.
Oct 6, 2024
Two TDs in win
Love completed 15 of 26 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Rams. He added three rushes for 10 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love had a bumpy first half, as he set up Green Bay's first touchdown with a 53-yard completion to Jayden Reed. He then followed that up with a pick-six on an ill-advised attempt to throw the ball away from his own end zone just before halftime. Things smoothed out in the final two quarters, as he found Tucker Kraft for a pair of touchdowns that came from 66 and seven yards away. Love has made too many mistakes early in the season -- he has five interceptions in three games -- but he's also moved the offense effectively and has multiple touchdowns in all three contests.
Oct 3, 2024
Gets back to full practice Thursday
Love (knee) was a full practice participant Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks the first time Love has been unhindered at practice since spraining the MCL in his left knee Week 1 against the Eagles in Brazil. He missed just two games as a result of the injury, completing 32 of 54 passes for 389 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in this past Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Vikings. Now that Love seemingly is past the issue, the biggest question mark surrounding the quarterback is who will be available in the skill positions for the Packers on Sunday at the Rams. WR Christian Watson (ankle) is slated to miss time, WR Romeo Doubs was away from the team Thursday due to a personal matter, and TE Luke Musgrave (ankle) hasn't taken part in drills during Week 5 prep.
Oct 2, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Love (knee) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur relayed the news to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, while adding that Love "did a really nice job. It looks like he's just getting back in the groove." Love took some time to get going during this past Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Vikings, but he finished 32-for-54 passing for 389 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He has two sessions remaining this week in which to log his first full practice since prep for the season opener in Brazil before potentially entering the weekend with a designation for a fourth week in a row.
Sep 29, 2024
Valiant effort in return
Love completed 32 of 54 passes for 389 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions and added one rush for six yards in the Packers' 31-29 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.
ANALYSIS
Love's completion percentage in his return from a two-game absence due to a knee injury ultimately left much to be desired, but the second-half surge he led for the Packers propped up his passing yardage and touchdown numbers significantly. Down 28-7 entering the second half, Love couldn't get Green Bay moving much over the first three possessions of the third quarter, but he subsequently helmed a trio of touchdown drives that included a 96-yard march that included 63 yards' worth of completions to Jayden Reed. Love threw his final scoring toss of the day, a 17-yarder to Dontavyion Wicks, to cap off the drive with 56 seconds remaining, but he was never able to get the ball back. Love seemed to shake off rust as the game went on, so he could be ready to put together a much more complete performance in a Week 5 road matchup against the Rams next Sunday.
Sep 29, 2024
Active, starting Sunday
Love (knee) is listed as active and will start Sunday against the Vikings, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Love is a bit more than three weeks removed from sustaining a Grade 1-to-2 MCL sprain in his left knee in the waning moments of a Week 1 loss to the Eagles in Brazil. He's slowly but surely ramped up his activity level the last two weeks, yet he didn't manage more than a limited practice in advance of Sunday's game. Still, Love has made enough progress in his recovery to take over direction of the Packers offense, while fill-in starter Malik Willis will return to a backup role. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Love is expected to wear a brace of the outside of the knee in question, which may impact his mobility somewhat.
Sep 28, 2024
Trending towards playing
Love (knee) is expected to be active Sunday against the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was a limited participant all week and looked good in his pre-game warmup against the Titans in Week 3, setting the stage for the franchise signal caller to make his return in Lambeau against a surprisingly fearsome Vikings defense come Sunday. The Packers haven't officially changed the injury designation of Love, but no practice-squad elevation of Sean Clifford effectively tipped the team's hand on the matter. While Love has looked comfortably mobile in the few glimpses of the quarterback during practice, it's fair to speculate if the team might be a bit reserved from a play-calling perspective with their prized quarterback in order to maintain his health for the rest of the season.
Sep 27, 2024
Listed as questionable
Love (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was a limited participant in each practice this week and now heads into the weekend looking truly questionable ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. He was also listed as questionable the past two games, but for Week 2 he was downgraded to doubtful and for Week 3 there were early reports suggesting he wouldn't play. This time around it looks like closer to 50/50, with the Packers perhaps inclined to be less cautious than usual on account of the divisional matchup against an undefeated rival. QB Malik Willis will make his third straight start if Love doesn't end up playing.
Sep 27, 2024
Stays limited Friday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (knee) was limited at Friday's practice, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur also was non-committal about Love's potential to play Sunday against the Vikings. Once the Packers post their final Week 4 injury report later Friday, Love likely will be listed as questionable, as he was last week. If Love is unable to suit up this weekend, Malik Willis again will be under center for Green Bay.
Sep 26, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Love (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. "We'll see," head coach Matt LaFleur said, when asked about Love's status for Sunday's game against the Vikings. "We'll give him up to game time."
ANALYSIS
Love continues to work his way back from the Grade 1-to-2 MCL sprain he sustained in the Sept. 6 loss to the Eagles, and he looks to have a chance at meeting the short end of his projected 3-to-6-week recovery timeline. He's now been a limited participant in six consecutive practices, and while the Packers haven't indicated that Love has experienced any setbacks with his knee, he may need to turn in a full practice Friday to avoid being viewed as anything more than a game-time call leading up to Sunday. Malik Willis has presided over the Green Bay offense for the last two games and will stay prepared for another start under center this weekend if the Packers' franchise signal-caller isn't cleared to return to the lineup.
Sep 25, 2024
Was close to suiting up in Week 3
Love (knee), who was officially limited at Wednesday's practice, said he was "pretty close" to playing this past Sunday in Tennessee, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was able to parlay three limited sessions last week into a questionable designation for Week 3 action, and he even put in a lengthy pregame warmup prior to the Packers issuing their list of inactives ahead of Sunday's game. Still, the team exercised caution with its franchise quarterback and rolled with QB Malik Willis, who was able to secure a second victory in as many chances in place of Love. On Wednesday, Love noted, "We're building it up for sure. Every day is a little bit better." He also relayed that he's "definitely" moving around better, which was corroborated by Ryan Wood of USA Today. Love will have two more opportunities to get back to full this week before the team potentially makes a ruling on his availability for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Sep 25, 2024
Limited Wednesday, as expected
Coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Love (knee) practiced in a limited capacity and is making progress, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love is still practicing with his left knee wrapped, per Ryan Wood of USA Today, but his mobility looked improved at Wednesday's session. The Packers haven't yet announced whether Love or backup Malik Willis will start Sunday's divisional matchup against the Vikings, but it's encouraging to see the franchise quarterback progressing as expected. Love will have two more opportunities to upgrade to full participation during Week 4 prep, and Green Bay may not make a final decision about the quarterback position until after this week's practices have concluded.
Sep 23, 2024
Will start week limited
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Love (knee) will be limited in practice to begin Week 4, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur said Love managed to take some team reps last week and that the team will take his injury "day by day" heading into a key divisional matchup against the Vikings on Sunday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Backup Malik Willis has performed adequately with Love sidelined, allowing the Packers to rack up two wins in his two starts, but the team won't hesitate to turn back to its franchise quarterback as soon as he's healthy. Love logged a trio of limited practices prior to being ruled out Week 3, so he may have to log at least one full session in order to be cleared to face Minnesota.
Sep 22, 2024
Sitting out again in Week 3
Love (knee) is listed as inactive Sunday at Tennessee, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Love seemingly put himself in a position to return after cobbling together three consecutive limited sessions during Week 3 prep, but the Packers will exercise caution and not rush back their franchise quarterback as he recovers from a sprained left MCL that he suffered in the season opener against the Eagles. He'll instead turn his focus to a Week 4 matchup with the Vikings, while Malik Willis will draw his second start in a row Sunday in place of Love.
Sep 21, 2024
Likely to sit out Sunday
Love (knee) hasn't yet been ruled out for Sunday's Week 3 game against Tennessee, but he's not expected to play, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was a limited practice participant all week and was deemed questionable on Friday's injury report, with Packers coach Matt LaFleur indicating that the quarterback could be a game-time decision. However, Pelissero reports that while Love is "getting closer" to being able to return, he'll likely be held out at least one more contest. If that is indeed the case, Malik Willis will get a second straight start with Sean Clifford serving as his backup.
Sep 20, 2024
Possible game-time call
Love (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Tennessee, with Packers coach Matt LaFleur suggesting Friday that the QB may be a game-time decision, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love hasn't been medically cleared but apparently still could be before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. He was a limited practice participant Friday, same as the two previous days, after being held out entirely last week ahead of an absence for the eventual win over Indianapolis. Malik Willis will make another start at QB if Love is out again Week 3.
Sep 20, 2024
Practicing again
Love (knee) is practicing Friday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was a limited practice participant Wednesday and Thursday, after missing last week's win over the Colts. It's unclear if he'll be back this Sunday against the Titans, but he at least seems to be doing better than initial reports suggested after he suffered an MCL sprain in a Week 1 loss to Philadelphia.
Sep 19, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Love (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love matched his activity level from Wednesday, though Thursday's session was a padded practice. Though Love was initially expected to miss somewhere in the range of 3-to-6 weeks after suffering an MCL sprain late in the Packers' Week 1 win over the Eagles, he looks like he has a serious chance of making it back after just a one-game absence. The Packers will reassess Love's status following their final Week 3 practice Friday, and LaFleur suggested that a decision on whether the quarterback will play Sunday against the Titans could come down to a game-time decision. Malik Willis will stay prepared for a second straight start in the event the Packers decide to hold Love out of the lineup for another week.
Sep 19, 2024
Another practice Thursday
Love (knee) took part in Thursday's padded practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love displayed some mobility while also taking snaps and throwing during Wednesday's session without pads, so his ability to go for a second day in a row indicates his recovery from a sprained MCL is going well. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Love was wearing a device on the outside of his left knee, which didn't appear to be impacting him too much. Even if he goes down as a limited participant again Thursday, Love is putting himself in a position to be available Sunday at Tennessee.
Sep 19, 2024
In consideration for Week 3
Love (knee), who was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, could have a chance to play Sunday against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. "I wouldn't be surprised if he plays this week," one source tells Schefter. "It's definitely day-by-day like [Love] said, and 50-50 at best right now."
ANALYSIS
For his part, Love was non-committal about being ready to play Sunday in Tennessee, despite taking a major step forward in his recovery from an MCL sprain in his left knee by taking snaps and throwing during on-field work Wednesday. After he was diagnosed with the MCL injury following his departure in the final minute of the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Eagles back on Sept. 6, Love was projected to miss 3-to-4 weeks, but he looks to be trending toward the short end of that recovery timeline, if he doesn't beat it by a week. Schefter suggests that even if the Packers err on the side of caution and keep Love out for a second straight game Sunday, the quarterback will have a much more realistic chance of being ready to play Week 4 at home versus the Vikings.
Sep 18, 2024
Non-committal about Week 3 status
Love (knee), who was limited at Wednesday's practice, was non-committal about his chances to play Sunday at Tennessee, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
After going through warmups Wednesday, Love proceeded to take snaps and throw during on-field work, per Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site. Coach Matt LaFleur then revealed Love's activity level, and the quarterback spoke to the media not longer after. "I'm going to take the week and just take it day by day and see how it feels," Love noted. "I'm not going to make any decisions right now. I'm hopeful that I can get to that point where I can get in there, but we're just going to take it day by day." For the second week in a row, the Packers are leaving the door open for Love to suit up following the MCL sprain that he sustained in the season opener, but his ability to mix into drills seemingly gives him a much better chance this time around.
Sep 18, 2024
Officially limited Wednesday
Love (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Not only did Love participate in warmups and other drills in the Don Hutson Center prior to practice, he was seen taking snaps and throwing while wearing a sleeve on his left leg outside on the field, per Hodkiewicz. Love thus is making clear progress in his recovery from the MCL sprain that he suffered Week 1 against the Eagles in Brazil, but there's no telling if he may be trending toward a return to action as soon as this Sunday at Tennessee. Ultimately, Friday's injury report will reveal his chances to do so, but Malik Willis would get the nod under center for the Packers this weekend if Love continues to sit out.
Sep 18, 2024
Back at practice Wednesday
Love (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Robert Zizzo of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Zizzo, Love took part in warmups and other pre-practice drills in the Don Hutson Center before joining his teammates outside. That's not to say he'll be listed as anything more than a limited participant on the Packers' first Week 3 injury report, but it's a sign of progress as he continues to recover from the MCL sprain that he sustained in his left knee in the season-opening loss to the Eagles in Brazil.
Sep 15, 2024
Inactive Sunday, as expected
Love (knee) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Colts, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After a week in which coach Matt LaFleur was coy about Love's status in the wake of the quarterback sustaining an MCL sprain in his left knee in Green Bay's season-opening loss to the Eagles in Brazil, he unsurprisingly won't suit up Week 2. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network even reported Sunday morning that Love is aiming to return Week 5, when the Packers take on the Rams on the road on Sunday, Oct. 6. In the meantime, Malik Willis is expected to lead the offense, while Sean Clifford backs him up.
Sep 14, 2024
Downgraded to doubtful
The Packers downgraded Love (knee) to doubtful ahead of their Week 2 contest versus Indianapolis on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite suffering a Grade 1-to-2 MCL sprain in Green Bay's season opener against the Eagles on Sept. 6, Love emerged Friday with a designation of questionable on the team's injury report. However, he didn't practice at all during the week, and it seems highly unlikely that he'll play Sunday given that the Packers downgraded his status Saturday. Malik Willis is expected to start at quarterback in Love's stead, and the team elevated QB Sean Clifford from the practice squad Saturday, presumably to back up Willis.
Sep 13, 2024
Listed as questionable
Love (knee) didn't practice this week but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
The lack of practice participation doesn't bode well for Love's chances of playing, nor does the diagnosis of an MCL sprain. The Packers will at least keep the door open, however, be it due to optimism about recovery progress or a desire to create some uncertainty for the Colts. If nothing else, it seems Love is doing better than initial reports suggested when estimating his recovery timeline at 3-6 weeks. Fantasy managers with interest in either Love or backup Malik Willis will want to check back Sunday morning when the Packers release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to a 1:00 ET kickoff.
Sep 13, 2024
Not at practice
Love (knee) isn't practicing Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers haven't officially ruled Love out for Sunday's game against Indianapolis, but all the signs so far suggest he'll be inactive and Malik Willis will start. Diagnosed with an MCL sprain, Love hasn't practice at all this week.
Sep 12, 2024
Officially DNP on Thursday
Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Love (knee) didn't practice Thursday, but the quarterback was "engaged, knows every play call and is coaching up Malik (Willis) and Sean (Clifford)," Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite not taking part in drills so far this week due to the MCL sprain that he suffered last Friday against the Eagles in Brazil, Love seemingly has a very small chance to play Sunday versus the Colts. LaFleur again implied as much Thursday, telling Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com that Love is "gonna do everything he can to be out there, and we'll give him the week." Love has just one more chance to practice before the weekend (Friday), at which point the Packers may make a ruling on his availability for Week 2, but as it stands, Willis appears as if he'll get the starting nod Sunday.

Absent from practice Thursday
Love (knee) is not participating in the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers have left the door open for Love to play Sunday against the Colts despite the franchise quarterback sustaining a Grade 1-to-2 MCL sprain in his left knee during the team's loss to the Eagles in Week 1, but the 2020 first-round pick has yet to practice since sustaining the injury. Malik Willis will continue to work as the first-team QB Thursday, with Sean Clifford slated to be elevated from the practice squad to operate as his backup Week 2 if Love is ultimately ruled out. It sounds like confirmation on Love's status won't arrive until Friday, at the earliest.
Sep 11, 2024
Keeping door open for Sunday
Coach Matt LaFleur relayed Wednesday that Love (knee) doesn't need practice reps in order to play, adding, "I'd say it's pretty open" for the quarterback to suit up Sunday against the Colts, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. "But at the same time, he's gotta be cleared," LaFleur said.
ANALYSIS
Unsurprisingly, Love didn't practice Wednesday after sustaining a Grade 1/2 MCL sprain in his left knee last Friday versus the Eagles in Brazil, instead focusing on rehab. The general consensus remains that Love will miss at least a few games due to the corresponding 3-to-6-week recovery timeline for such an injury, but LaFleur seemingly won't rule out the quarterback for Week 2 until Friday, at the earliest. Assuming Love doesn't get the all-clear ahead of Sunday's game, Malik Willis is expected to sub in for him, with practice-squad member Sean Clifford serving as the backup signal-caller.
Sep 11, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Love (knee) officially didn't practice Wednesday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
When speaking with the media Monday, coach Matt LaFleur didn't outright rule Love out for a Week 2 matchup with the Colts, per Ryan Wood of USA Today. However, Love is expected to miss 3-to-6 weeks due to the Grade 1/2 MCL sprain that he suffered in his left knee last Friday against the Eagles in Brazil. LaFleur also noted Monday that Malik Willis will start as long as Love can't suit up, with Sean Clifford slated to be elevated from the practice squad and back up Willis on game days.
Sep 9, 2024
Not a candidate for IR
Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Love (knee) will not be placed on injured reserve, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur also declined to fully rule Love out to play Week 2 versus Indianapolis, though considering the 3-to-6 week recovery timetable that Tom Pelissero of NFL Network offered for the starting quarterback's MCL sprain, it would be a true surprise if he didn't miss any time. Per LaFleur, Malik Willis will start Sunday against Tennessee if Love can't go. Placing Love on IR would rule him out for the next four games while opening up a roster spot, so Green Bay's decision not to do so is an indication that Love is expected to be back sooner rather than later. However, LaFleur said the team will take a cautious approach to Love's recovery rather than "put him in position to mortgage the short term for the future."
Sep 7, 2024
3-to-6 week timeline for return
Love is expected to miss somewhere between three to six weeks following an MCL sprain suffered during the waning moments of Friday's Week 1 loss to the Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Speculation from social media doctors suggested a wide range of outcomes after Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter unintentionally rolled into Love's plant leg Friday, but it seems confirmed now after multiple scans and tests that the star quarterback escaped what initially appeared to be a serious injury. There's even been initial rumblings that Love could return on the shorter side of the reported timeline, but it's worth noting the Packers have historically been cautious when it comes to knee and soft-tissue injuries in past seasons. It's unclear if Malik Willis, who was traded to the Packers just two weeks ago, will operate as the team's starter in the ensuing weeks or if displaced backup from last season, Sean Clifford, will at least get a crack at the starting job with the former likely still learning the playbook. For Love fantasy managers, the next key note to monitor will be whether he can avoid a stint on the mandated four-week injured reserve list.
Sep 7, 2024
Seems to have avoided serious injury
Love is believed to have injured his MCL, and while the exact severity is still subject to additional testing, it does not appear to be a season-ending injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported that it's an MCL sprain, although that has yet to be confirmed by the team. That multiple reports have suggested Love has avoided suffering a dreaded ACL injury is encouraging for his availability later in the season, but it does seem as if the second-year starter will miss some duration of time. Malik Willis came in for the final two snaps of Friday's loss to the Eagles and the Packers still have last year's backup Sean Clifford on the practice squad, but a multi-week extended absence could have the team consider all options available, including a veteran like Ryan Tannehill who played under Matt LaFleur when the two were together on the Titans.
Sep 7, 2024
ACL appears intact
Love's ACL appears intact based on initial scanning, but additional scans are still scheduled and will likely determine the recovery plan moving forward, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This really doesn't tell us anything other than the worst-case scenario might possibly not be on the table. Expect more information to come at a rapid pace given the spotlight on the highest paid player in the NFL.
Sep 7, 2024
Will undergo MRI
Love (lower leg) will undergo an MRI, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, "an ankle injury has been ruled out at this point," but Love could still be dealing with another leg issue. The Packers figure to release an update on his status after the results of his exam have been read.
Sep 7, 2024
Status unclear
Love (leg) exited Friday's loss to the Eagles early due to a leg injury, Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers are seemingly not letting any more clarity on Love's injury out at this point in time. Malik Willis is the team's primary backup as of now.
Sep 6, 2024
Exits with leg injury
Love suffered an apparent leg injury in Friday's matchup against the Eagles, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love took a hit to the lower leg and had to exit the game prior to the final play of Friday's matchup in Brazil. There is no word on the severity of the injury as of this time.
Aug 24, 2024
Next start will arrive in Week 1
Love is among the Packers' healthy key skill players not slated to see action in Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Also in that category are RB Josh Jacobs, WRs Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks as well as TE Luke Musgrave. Love's next start will thus occur Sept. 6 against the Eagles.
Aug 14, 2024
Not likely to play this week
Love isn't expected to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Broncos, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur said he's planning to start Sean Clifford and then use Michael Pratt as the second quarterback. Love played one drive in a 23-10 exhibition win over Cleveland on Saturday, connecting with Dontayvion Wicks for a 65-yard TD on the third snap of the game.
Aug 11, 2024
Perfect in lone series Saturday
Love completed both his pass attempts for 63 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-10 preseason win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
With a new four-year, $220 million contract extension in his pocket, Love played the opening drive in the Packers' preseason opener and made quick work of the Cleveland defense, hitting Dontayvion Wicks for a 65-yard touchdown on his second completion after Josh Jacobs got dropped for a two-yard loss on his first. Love is coming off an impressive first season as Green Bay's starting QB, and further development -- both from him and from his young receiving corps -- should allow him to find another level. The team hasn't yet indicated if he'll see more action in next Sunday's exhibition clash with the Broncos.
Aug 6, 2024
In line to play Saturday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that the plan is for Love, and the rest of Green Bay's healthy starters, to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur acknowledged that "there's an inherent risk" to playing in the preseason, saying "we'll be smart with [Love]," so it sounds like the starting quarterback may only play a series or so. Top running back Josh Jacobs appears uncertain for Saturday due to a recent groin issue, while right tackle Zach Tom has been ruled out after a recent return to practice. Love is coming off an enormous four-year, $220 million contract extension, and expectations for his second season as a starter will be sky-high after he threw 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions during the final 10 regular-season games of the 2023 campaign.
Jul 27, 2024
Practicing following monster deal
Love, who signed a four-year extension worth $220 million and $155 in full guarantees Friday, is practicing with the team Saturday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Love had been doing a hold-in of sorts until he had officially signed the much-rumored mega extension to begin training camp, and as expected the new highest paid player in the NFL took to the field Saturday alongside his quartet of capable pass catchers, including Jayden Reed (toe) who was activated off the NFI list earlier this week. Love is expected to build off the scintillating end to his lone season as a starter, in which he tallied 2,905 passing yards and a remarkable 25:5 TD:INT ratio over the final 11 games plus two postseason contests.
Jul 26, 2024
Inks extension
Love and the Packers have agreed to terms on a four-year extension worth $220 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal will make Love the highest paid quarterback in NFL history despite just one full season as Green Bay's starting quarterback. It also includes a record $75 million signing bonus plus $155 million in new full guarantees, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The team's star signal caller has been at training camp but sitting out of practice until a deal was finalized. He will now presumably return to the field and continue building a rapport with his young, and deep wide receiver unit.
Jul 22, 2024
Won't practice without extension
Love's representatives have informed the Packers that he won't practice until he has a contract extension, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst revealed the information Monday and said he's optimistic an extension will get done soon. In the meantime, Love is present for training camp and taking part in meetings, which suggests his absence from practice is a matter of caution more so than reflecting any frustration with ongoing negotiations. It sounds like the Packers expect to complete a deal and get Love back on the practice field soon.
Jun 11, 2024
Extension to come before camp?
Love said Tuesday that he's optimistic he and the Packers will agree to terms on a new contract extension before the start of training camp July 22, Matt Schneidmanof The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Love, who has participated in the entirety of Green Bay's offseason program, didn't go into detail about his ongoing contract negotiations, but he did answer "yes" when asked whether he felt a deal would be finalized before camp. The 2020 first-round pick is coming off a breakout 2023 campaign and entering the final year of his current contract, and while his attendance has been crucial for a young offense now working to take the next step, it's possible that Love would refuse to suit up for preseason action if he were still without a long-term deal come August. By the sound of things, though, he and the Packers may not be far apart in negotiations.
Mar 14, 2024
Running back room revamped
Love is set to enter the 2024 season with a new-look backfield led by Josh Jacobs, who is slated to sign a four-year contract worth up to $48 million with the Packers, while Aaron Jones looks to be moving on to Minnesota on a one-year contract, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay replacing Jones with Jacobs isn't the only piece of notable backfield news, as AJ Dillon is currently a free agent and the team's only depth now consists of Emanuel Wilson and Ellis Merriweather. Jacobs is coming off a down season, with just 805 yards on 233 carries (six touchdowns), but he's only one year removed from having led the NFL with 1,653 yards rushing on 340 carries (12 scores). Perhaps most importantly, Jacobs does boast a true three-down skillset, making him an ideal fit for coach Matt LaFleur's scheme, and providing Love with a reliable bailout option and target in the short field. Jacobs has two seasons with 50-plus catches under his belt, and he's a perfect match for the play-action game in Green Bay.

Uneven performance in loss
Love completed 21 of 34 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday's 24-21 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Love came into the contest on an excellent run, having thrown for multiple touchdowns in each of his last five games while also topping 250 yards four times in that span. He continued his multi-touchdown streak with tosses of 19 and two yards into the end zone, and he also delivered three completions of greater than 20 yards. However, he was held to only 5.7 yards per attempt and missed several throws, in part due to rainy conditions and in part caused by a tough matchup. Love also forced an ill-advised throw deep down the field on the Packers' final drive that was picked off, clinching the win for the 49ers. Though his season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion, Love established himself as Green Bay's franchise quarterback in his first campaign as a starter and has a multitude of talented young receivers that should form the core of a productive offense in 2024 and beyond.
Jan 14, 2024
Wins playoff debut with three TDs
Love completed 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns while rushing once for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card round win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Love was sensational in his playoff debut, though the Cowboys helped him out with numerous defensive breakdowns. After a pair of short Aaron Jones touchdown runs, Love extended Green Bay's lead to 20-0 with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks in the second quarter. Jones and Love each added a touchdown in the third quarter, with Love's coming on a 38-yard pass to a wide open Luke Musgrave without a defender in sight. Love poured it on with a three-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs, which put Green Bay up 48-16 in the fourth quarter, and he would have finished with a perfect passer rating if not for an incomplete pass on his final attempt. Up next for Love and the Packers will be a trip to San Francisco in the Divisional Round.
Jan 7, 2024
Another excellent showing
Love completed 27 of 32 passes for 316 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Love and the Packers' offense got off to a relatively slow start in the must-win contest, but he led a few key drives to clinch a playoff berth. The first was an 11-play, 92-yard drive that began early in the second quarter, which was capped by a 10-yard pass to Dontayvion Wicks. On the opening drive of the second half, Love hit Wicks again, this time for a 12-yard score. Love now has multiple touchdown passes in four straight games to close the season, and he also surpassed 300 passing yards in a game for the second time in the campaign thanks to long completions of 59 and 32 yards to Jayden Reed. He'll look to keep his current form going in an upset bid against the Cowboys in the wild-card round.
Dec 31, 2023
Big primetime performance
Love completed 24 of 33 passes for 256 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 33-10 win over the Vikings. He added two rushes for two yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Love continued his second-half surge with an excellent primetime performance. He connected with Jayden Reed (chest) for a pair of touchdowns, which came from 33 and 25 yards away, and added a two-yard rushing touchdown in the first half. Love then chipped in an insurance score of nine yards to Bo Melton late in the third quarter, marking his second straight game with at least three total touchdowns and his fourth such performance in his last six contests. He'll look to carry that momentum into a win-and-in Week 18 matchup against the Bears.
Dec 24, 2023
Totals three touchdowns in win
Love completed 17 of 28 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 33-30 victory over the Panthers. He also had two carries for 12 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Love did not do a lot in the passing yardage department, but he did tally three scores for the third time in five games and did not turn the ball over. His next matchup will come against a Vikings defense that limited Love to 229 yards and one touchdown in Week 8 and limited opposing quarterbacks to just three total touchdowns over its last four contests.
Dec 17, 2023
Strong numbers in Week 15 loss
Love completed 29 of 39 passes for 284 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Packers' 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed twice for one yard and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Love's passing yardage tally was third highest of the season, but it unfortunately came during a game when the Packers increasingly found themselves in the trail position. The third-year quarterback spread the ball around to eight different pass catchers and targeted nine overall, with four players recording at least four receptions. Love's fumble came on a sack with 4:28 remaining at Green Bay's own 49-yard line, snuffing out any final hopes of a comeback. Love now has at least 267 passing yards and multiple touchdown passes in five of his last six games, giving him plenty of momentum going into a Week 16 road matchup against the Panthers on Christmas Eve.
Dec 12, 2023
Middling numbers in Week 14 loss
Love completed 25 of 39 passes for 218 yards with one touchdown and one interception and added two carries for two yards in the Packers' 24-22 loss to the Giants on Monday night. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Love's numbers have to be considered a disappointment under any circumstance, as the matchup appeared to be a favorable one coming in and both the quarterback and the Packers as a whole had plenty of momentum. Love did appear to put Green Bay in excellent position for a win with a six-yard touchdown pass to Malik Heath with 1:33 remaining, but Tommy DeVito was able to lead the Giants on a 57-yard game-winning march to secure the victory. Love's interception didn't lead to any points for New York but did come at the Giants' 23-yard line, and that pick was preceded by a fumble at the hosts' 27-yard line as well. Love had thrown for at least 267 yards and two touchdowns in each of the previous four games coming into Monday night, and he hadn't thrown an interception in the last three contests. Love will aim to right the ship and keep his team's thin playoff hopes alive in a Week 15 home matchup against the Buccaneers.
Dec 3, 2023
Outduels Mahomes on SNF
Love completed 25 of 36 pass attempts for 267 yards and three touchdowns while adding 10 rushing yards on two attempts in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Love put together a statement win by out-dueling active legend Patrick Mahomes on the national stage Sunday. The Packers' signal-caller picked apart a tough defense from the pocket, resulting in his second consecutive week completing at least 69 percent of his passes while throwing three touchdowns. Love has emphatically put an end to his midseason doldrums with eight touchdowns and no turnovers over his last three games. He will look to maintain that momentum in a plus matchup against the Giants next Monday.
Nov 23, 2023
Dazzles in Thanksgiving win
Love completed 22 of 32 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns with 39 rushing yards on three carries in Thursday's 29-22 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
The first-year starting QB shone in the Thanksgiving game spotlight, as Love tossed red-zone TDs to Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft in the first quarter as the Packers raced out to a 14-6 lead. Love then hit Christian Watson for his final score late in the third quarter, tying his career high for touchdown passes and extending his streak of games with multiple TD passes to three. The 2020 first-round pick has a 7:2 TD:INT over those three games with a 62.5 percent completion rate and a 7.8 YPA, but Love will face a tough test in Week 13 against a stingy Kansas City secondary.
Nov 19, 2023
Career high in passing yards
Love completed 27 of 40 attempts for 322 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Love has shown improvement over his last three games, avoiding any turnovers twice while also being a bigger threat passing downfield. In fact, Sunday saw Love set a career high in passing yards, with his final throw being a 24-yarder to Romeo Doubs for the game-winning touchdown. Coming off a positive Week 11 performance, Love now faces a quick turnaround ahead of a tough divisional game in Detroit on Thanksgiving.
Nov 12, 2023
Productive in defeat
Love completed 21 of 40 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 23-19 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Love barely completed half of his passes, yet he had a number of long completions downfield. After opening the game with an eight-yard touchdown to Romeo Doubs, he found Jayden Reed for a 35-yard score during the second quarter. To close the contest, though, Love was intercepted on consecutive drives while attempting throws into the end zone, tarnishing a performance that otherwise had some promising moments.
Nov 5, 2023
Solid in win
Love completed 20 of 26 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Love posted a season high in completion percentage while avoiding any turnovers for the first time since Week 2. Along with connecting better on passes further downfield, Love's well-designed, 20-yard touchdown to Luke Musgrave helped seal Green Bay's victory. A tough matchup at the Steelers now awaits Love in Week 10.
Oct 29, 2023
Struggles continue in Week 8
Love completed 24 of 41 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown with one interception in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Vikings. He added a team-high 34 rushing yards on four carries.
ANALYSIS
The fact that the young QB led the Packers in rushing tells the story on how dysfunctional the offense was as a whole, but Love salvaged his day somewhat with a one-yard TD pass to Romeo Doubs late in the fourth quarter. Over the last five games, Love's posted a 5:8 TD:INT with a 58.2 percent completion rate and a 6.0 YPA, and until Green Bay can re-establish an effective running game, he could continue to struggle to find easy completions. He'll look to turn things around in Week 9 against a Rams defense that just got lit up by Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
Oct 22, 2023
Another slow start
Love completed 21 of 31 passes for 180 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Broncos. He also rushed three times for 21 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love hardly threw downfield during the first half, when the Packers' offense endured yet another sluggish start, scoring no points. The quarterback found more success afterward, though, throwing a 16-yard touchdown to Romeo Doubs and four-yard score to Jayden Reed. While the latter play helped put Green Bay in the lead temporarily, Love subsequently threw an interception on his final pass for the second straight contest, resulting in consecutive failed attempts at game-winning drives.
Oct 9, 2023
Struggles with INTs in Week 5 loss
Love completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in the Packers' 17-13 loss to the Raiders on Monday night. He also rushed twice for 37 yards.
ANALYSIS
The third-year pro frequently looked like a rookie Monday night while once again struggling with his accuracy. Love's three picks matched his season total coming into the night, and the final one came in the end zone on a play where Christian Watson appeared to initially be open for what would have potentially been a game-winning touchdown. The quarterback's first pick also led to a Las Vegas field goal, and he's now completed under 60 percent of his passes in four of the first five games. Love now will have a Week 6 bye to reset before returning to action in a favorable Week 7 road matchup against the Broncos.
Sep 28, 2023
Mixed bag in Week 4 loss
Love completed 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added two rushes for minus-2 yards and another score in the Packers' 34-20 loss to the Lions on Thursday night. He also committed a fumble that was recovered by Green Bay and threw a two-point conversion pass.
ANALYSIS
Love endured a rough night overall despite the solid passing yardage total, as he took five sacks in addition to throwing multiple interceptions for the second time in his career, with the first occasion also having come against Detroit back in Week 18 of the 2021 campaign. Love's first pick early in the second quarter came at Green Bay's 27-yard line and led to a David Montgomery two-yard touchdown two plays later, while the second unfolded at Detroit's four-yard line with 4:15 remaining and the Packers down by 17. Love had the benefit of Christian Watson as a pass-catching option for the first time this season, but Romeo Doubs remained his favorite target by far with a team-high 13 targets. Love and his receiving corps will now have plenty of extra time to continue building chemistry ahead of a Week 6 road battle versus the Raiders on Monday night, Oct. 9, following a Week 5 bye.
Sep 24, 2023
Leads comeback win
Love completed 22 of 44 passes for 259 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 18-17 win over the Saints. He also rushed nine times for 39 yards and another touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Love drove Green Bay back from a 17-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter, making big plays with both his arm and legs. His first touchdown came on a one-yard run, after which Love passed for a successful two-point conversion. On his next series, Love had a 24-yard scramble before connecting with Romeo Doubs for an eight-yard touchdown with just under three minutes remaining. Although he missed a few open throws during the contest and has completed only 53 percent of his passes on the season, Love will nonetheless be riding high after a dramatic victory in his first start at Lambeau Field. Furthermore, he stands of chance of getting playmakers Aaron Jones (hamstring) and Christian Watson (hamstring) back for Week 4's Thursday night visit from the Lions.
Sep 17, 2023
Another three touchdowns
Love completed 14 of 25 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Falcons. He also rushed twice for 23 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love has now thrown three scores in both games this season, with each of Sunday's touchdowns going to a rookie receiver. He opened with an easy nine-yarder to Jayden Reed on a push pass, then found Dontayvion Wicks for a 32-yard score after halftime. Despite hitting Reed for a 10-yard touchdown to end the third quarter, Love and Green Bay's offense stalled in the fourth, leading to a late defeat. While starting guard Elgton Jenkins (knee) was forced out Sunday, Love will hope left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) and playmakers Aaron Jones (hamstring) and Christian Watson (hamstring) can return to help support him in Week 3 versus the Saints.
Sep 10, 2023
Beats Bears with three TDs
Love completed 15 of 27 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Bears. He also rushed three times for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Love picked up where Aaron Rodgers left off by beating the Bears at Soldier Field. The Packers' new quarterback made many key throws on third down, including his opening touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs. Love also found Aaron Jones for a 35-yard score on a critical fourth down in the third quarter, before capping his day with another red-zone TD to Doubs. Following his triumphant effort against Green Bay's oldest rival, Love will now hope to get top wideout Christian Watson (hamstring) back ahead of Week 2's trip to Atlanta.
Aug 26, 2023
Average in preseason finale
Love completed nine of 15 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Love led the Packers to a field goal and touchdown on three drives, but he did it against Seattle's backups and underthrew a wide-open Christian Watson on what could've been a 49-yard touchdown. Love found Watson for a six-yard score to finish that same drive, then gave way to backup QB Sean Clifford and the second-string offense. The Packers open the regular season with a trip to Chicago, kicking off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sun., Sept. 10.
Aug 20, 2023
Will play preseason finale
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday that Love will play in the team's preseason finale against Seattle on Saturday, Kassidy Hill of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Love is now set to start all three preseason games for Green Bay after going a combined 12-for-18 passing for 130 yards and two touchdowns over the first two contests. The 24-year-old is entering his first season as starting quarterback after the Packers traded four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers this offseason. LaFleur added Sunday that he "[doesn't] believe you can give a young guy in that position enough reps," according to Ryan Wood of USA Today, and that "It's about the other ten guys out there and making sure we're a cohesive unit, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site. Therefore, it's likely that Love will once again play multiple series alongside the majority of Green Bay's first-team offense during the upcoming preseason finale.
Aug 19, 2023
Another promising exhibition
Love completed five of eight pass attempts for a touchdown (no turnovers) and rushed twice for 11 yards in Saturday's preseason tilt against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Love was out there for three series with the first-team offense Saturday, throwing a 19-yard dart to rookie wideout Jayden Reed for a touchdown on his third and final drive. The 2020 first-round pick has led two touchdown drives on five attempts so far this preseason as he builds confidence heading into his first year as starter. Lots of eyes will be on Love this season as he takes over for the eccentric Aaron Rodgers, who signed with the Jets this past offseason after putting together a Hall of Fame worthy resume during his time in Green Bay.
Aug 19, 2023
Suiting up Saturday
Love is in line to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Patriots, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After completing seven of 10 passes for 46 yards and one touchdown in Green Bay's exhibition opener last Friday at Cincinnati, Love will get some more work as he prepares for his first season as the team's starting signal-caller. Expect Love to have his full complement of skill-position talent for a handful of series Saturday.
Aug 11, 2023
Throws TD in preseason opener
Love completed seven of 10 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 36-19 preseason win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Love played the first two drives, the second of which he capped with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs. The 24-year-old quarterback looked decent in his limited playing time here, but the jury's still out over how capably Love will be able to step into the starting role vacated by Packers legend Aaron Rodgers. As he prepares for his first season as a starter, Love will likely ramp up his workload in Green Bay's second preseason game against the Patriots.

Slated to play Friday
Love told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic on Wednesday that he expects to play a few possessions during Friday's preseason game at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
A 2020 first-round pick, Love didn't see any NFL action until the 2021 preseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he logged mostly spot duty, including one start, in the last two regular seasons, en route to 606 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on 60.3-percent passing. Now that Aaron Rodgers has moved on to the Jets, though, Love has taken over direction of the Packers offense behind a steady O-line. Love will have a one-two punch in running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon to lean on, but the receiving corps mostly boasts first- and second-year options, featuring 2022 second-round pick Christian Watson.

Preseason workload TBD
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love could "potentially" see a significant amount of preseason reps this summer, according to NFL.com's Eric Edholm.
ANALYSIS
"There's a lot of things I'd like to see out of him," LaFleur said. "It's more or less just the process of becoming better each and every day and the command that he has. Certainly, you want to give him every opportunity. You can't give him enough reps. Just making those incremental improvements and becoming more consistent on a daily basis. I'm really excited. He definitely has complete command of our offense. There's no doubt about it. He's put the work in, he knows the ins and outs. Now it's going to apply that in a real situation." LaFleur, however, indicated that the plan is "fluid," as the Packers certainly don't want to risk a Love injury in meaningless preseason exhibitions. Love's ability to take the reins from Aaron Rodgers is one of the season's most interesting storylines.

Signs one-year extension
Love is signing a one-year extension worth up to $22.5 million, including $13.5 million fully guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Love and the Packers found a workaround shortly before the deadline for fifth-year options for 2020 first-round picks. The team apparently wasn't comfortable guaranteeing Love a $20.3 million salary for 2024, instead convincing him to accept a one-year extension with a smaller guarantee and a slightly higher ceiling. The 24-year-old is set to take over as Green Bay's starting quarterback after the Aaron Rodgers trade, leading an offense with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in the backfield and Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed projecting as the top three wide receivers. The Packers took Reed in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, also adding TE Luke Musgrave (Round 2), TE Tucker Kraft (Round 3) and WR Dontayvion Wicks (Round 5).

Signs one-year extension
Love agreed Tuesday with the Packers on a one-year extension worth up to $22.5 million, including $13.5 million fully guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Love and the Packers found a workaround shortly before the deadline to lock in fifth-year options for 2020 first-round picks. The team apparently wasn't comfortable guaranteeing Love a $20.3 million salary for 2024, so instead he accepted a one-year extension with a smaller guarantee and a slightly higher ceiling. The 24-year-old is set to take over as Green Bay's starting quarterback after the Aaron Rodgers trade, leading an offense with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in the backfield and Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed projected as the top three wide receivers. The Packers took Reed in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft while also adding tight end Luke Musgrave in round two, tight end Tucker Kraft in round three and wideout Dontayvion Wicks in round five.

Officially taking over for Rodgers
The Packers will move on to Love at quarterback after agreeing to trade Aaron Rodgers to the Jets on Monday, Rich Cimini and Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With the long-awaited deal soon to be ironed out in the coming days, the post-Rodgers era in Green Bay now has clarity. A first-round pick in 2020, Love has just 10 appearances and one start on his resume through three campaigns, having completed 50 of 83 passes (60.2 percent) for 606 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions and rushing 13 times for 26 yards. His performance (113 yards and a TD strike to Christian Watson in one and a half quarters) in place of Rodgers against the Eagles in Week 12 last season likely was the sign the Packers needed that Love was ready to take over the offense. As the roster stands before the 2023 Draft, the skill-position talent at Love's disposal consists of notables like running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and wide receivers Watson and Romeo Doubs.

Transition will be 'a progression'
Coach Matt LaFleur noted at the Annual League Meeting on Tuesday that "it's going to be a progression" as the Packers move from Aaron Rodgers to Love at quarterback, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The expected trade of Rodgers from Green Bay to the Jets has yet to go through, but both LaFleur and GM Brian Gutekunst have relayed this week the Packers' intention to deal their long-time signal-caller. Aside from the pending transaction, the team also must make a decision on whether to pick up the fifth-year option on Love's rookie contract, which needs to happen by May 1. Since he was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Love doesn't boast much in-game action with Rodgers leading the offense. Overall, in 10 appearances (one start), Love has completed 50 of 83 passes (60.2 percent) for 606 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions while taking 13 carries for 26 yards.
Feb 20, 2023
Spends another season as backup
Love completed 14 of 21 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown over four appearances during the 2022 season.
ANALYSIS
The former first-rounder played sparingly in his third season, with the highlight being his late-game performance in the Packers' Week 12 loss to the Eagles. He could finally get a real chance to show what he can do in 2023 if fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers moves on or retires, but his status will be in limbo until Rodgers' situation is resolved.
Dec 4, 2022
Will remain in backup role Week 13
Love is slated to serve as Aaron Rodgers' backup in Sunday's game against the Bears after the latter was cleared to start the Week 13 contest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rodgers, who has been playing through a broken right thumb since Week 6, picked up another injury in last Sunday's loss to the Eagles, when he suffered a rib contusion. Though Love finished out the contest in place of the banged-up Rodgers, the third-year quarterback won't get the starting assignment Week 13 after Rodgers was able to practice in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday to ditch his injury designation heading into the weekend. The 4-8 Packers haven't ruled out the possibility of shutting Rodgers down once they're officially eliminated from playoff contention, so Love could have the chance to make some starts before season's end.
Nov 28, 2022
Takes over for injured Rodgers
Love completed six of nine pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown after Aaron Rodgers (ribs) was forced to leave Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Love stepped in for Rodgers with the Packers down two scores late in the contest, and the backup didn't let the offense skip a beat despite eventually falling short on an improbable comeback attempt. The 2020 first-round pick looked as good as we've ever seen him in limited action, whipping crisp passes to his receivers in stride en route to a near-perfect QB rating in his quarter of action. Initial reports on Rodgers' ribs are unclear, but he was able to avoid a punctured lung after having trouble breathing while being examined postgame. Head coach Matt LaFleur added that he doesn't know if Rodgers will be forced to miss time, but added that if healthy, he will start Sunday against Chicago, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. If Love does end up starting for the 4-8 Packers, he showed enough of an improvement in a hostile environment Sunday to warrant fantasy consideration against a struggling Bears defense.
Sep 12, 2022
Sees late action in Week 1
Love completed 4-of-5 passes for 65 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
With just over a minute to go and the Packers trailing by 16 points, Love replaced starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers and handled the final drive of the game. He completed all four passes he got off, with the lone misfire coming on a spiked ball to stop the clock. The efficient outing bodes well for Love's confidence but does nothing to change his status as the backup behind Rodgers.
Aug 26, 2022
Plays into second half
Love completed 16 of 26 passes for 148 yards and an interception in Thursday's preseason game against Kansas City. He also gained five yards on his only carry.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old got the start at quarterback for the Packers and played into the second half, and while Love's numbers weren't great he did did engineer two scoring drives, leading to all 10 of Green Bay's points on the night. The 2020 first-round pick will back up Aaron Rodgers once again this season, a role which afforded him only one start and 62 total pass attempts last year.
Aug 19, 2022
Inconsistent preseason performance
Love completed 12 of 24 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints. He also added 13 rushing yards.
ANALYSIS
Love got the start with Aaron Rodgers resting. He showed glimpses of promise, particularly on a 14-play drive that resulted in a touchdown. During that possession, Love connected with four different receivers and pushed the ball down the field for gains of 17 and 15 yards. On the other hand, he still had long spells of inconsistency, as evidenced by his 50 percent completion rate. Once the regular season rolls around, Love will be locked into the backup role.
Aug 19, 2022
Starting Friday
Love will start Friday's preseason contest against the Saints, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Aaron Rodgers in street clothes for a second straight exhibition, Love will get a chance to direct the offense. It'll be interesting to see if he logs a full half like he did last Friday in San Francisco, but whenever he departs he'll hand things over to Danny Etling.
Aug 13, 2022
Mixed bag in preseason opener
Love completed 13 of 24 passes for 176 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions and added 24 yards on four rushes in the Packers' 28-21 preseason loss to the 49ers on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
With Aaron Rodgers sitting out, it was Love who started the game and played the entirety of the first half. The 2020 first-round pick's night got off to an encouraging start when he connected with Romeo Doubs for a nifty 33-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline to answer an early 49ers field goal. However, Love then short-circuited each of the Packers' next three possessions with interceptions, all which came in San Francisco territory. Love did finish the night on a positive note when he helmed a nine-play, 75-yard march just before halftime that culminated in another 33-yard scoring toss, this time in conjunction with Danny Davis. Love could see another solid allotment of playing time in next Friday night's home exhibition battle against the Saints, even if Rodgers makes a brief appearance to start the game.
Aug 8, 2022
Starting preseason opener
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love will start Friday's preseason contest against the 49ers, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur also relayed that Aaron Rodgers will sit out at least Green Bay's first two preseason contests, but that a decision hasn't yet been made about August 25's game against the Chiefs, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. It remains to be seen how many drives the 2020 first-round pick will actually lead Friday, but whatever snaps Love does take will help prepare him for handling backup duties this season. If the 49ers opt to start second-year quarterback Trey Lance, Friday's contest could prove to be one of the more intriguing matchups on the preseason slate.
Mar 8, 2022
Set for backup duties again
Love's tentative path to the starting role with Green Bay in 2022 vanished Tuesday, after incumbent Aaron Rodgers agreed to terms on a four-year, $200 million contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love's prospects for Year 3 in Green Bay hinged entirely on Rodgers' decision, and with the back-to-back MVP now sticking around for the foreseeable future, the 2020 first-round pick's best case scenario with the team that drafted him appears to be No. 2 duties yet again. On the other hand, the Packers still have significant salary cap issues to address, and Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Love could now be a legitimate trade option. Being dealt to a quarterback-needy team such as the Broncos or Panthers would certainly be the best outcome for the 23-year-old's fantasy prospects at the moment, and it's admittedly rare for a signal-caller drafted in the first round to never enter a season as the starter. That said, it remains to be seen whether front offices around the league are willing to exchange significant capital for the talented, but unproven Love.
Jan 31, 2022
Six appearances in second season
Love appeared in six games during the 2021 season and completed 36 of 62 passes for 411 yards. He registered two touchdowns, three interceptions and also ran 12 times for 27 yards.
ANALYSIS
Of Love's six appearances, two were simply to kneel out the clock, and two others were brief cameos late in games when the outcome had already been determined. He did play one full game against the Chiefs in Week 9 and played the second half of the Packers' Week 18 loss to the Lions, and he was unspectacular in those contests, completing just 56.9 percent of his passes and averaging 6.4 YPA. After seeing no snaps in his 2020 rookie campaign, the 2021 season was essentially Love's first as a pro. His prospects for 2022 will hinge significantly on whether or not fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains with Green Bay. If Rodgers returns Love is looking at another season in the backup role, but if he does not, Love will be the favorite to take over as the Packers' starting quarterback.
Jan 9, 2022
Struggles in extended appearance
Love completed 10 of 17 pass attempts for 134 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against Detroit on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Love played off the bench and mostly with backups after Aaron Rodgers played with most of the starters. Love saw a lot of pressure and arguably was at minimal fault for one of his interceptions, which was tipped at the line and then again by his wide receiver before the defense snagged it, but his box score also benefited from a lot of yards after the catch on a 62-yard touchdown pass to tight end Josiah Deguara. It's disappointing that Love didn't produce any better, even if he was playing with Green Bay's backups, and he needs to get better at identifying pressure pre-snap so that he isn't so constantly caught by surprise after the snap. Love won't turn 24 until November and still has time to develop, but it's safe to say that the Packers wish he was farther along in that development than he appears to be at the moment.
Jan 3, 2022
First action since Week 11
Love completed 2-of-4 passes for 19 yards in Sunday's 37-10 victory over the Vikings. He also added two rushing attempts for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
After making his first career start in Week 9, Love took the field for only one snap over the Packers' next six games. However, he got a chance to play a full drive Sunday with the Packers well ahead on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. There's a chance Love could make his second career start in Week 18, as although starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers (toe) said after Sunday's contest he wants to play in the finale, the Packers could decide to deactivate him with the game having no bearing on the standings.
Dec 15, 2021
Back on active roster
The Packers activated Love (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
ANALYSIS
Love tested positive for the virus on Monday, Dec. 6, and even though he was vaccinated he wasn't able to rid himself of symptoms and test negative twice 24 hours apart until more than a week later. He thus yielded backup QB duties to Kurt Benkert this past Sunday against the Bears, but the latter reverted to the practice squad Monday, signaling Love's impending return to the active roster. Love will return to his role as the No. 2 to Aaron Rodgers, and with Rodgers tending to a toe injury the former will handle the majority of the reps with the first-team offense this week.
Dec 6, 2021
Lands on COVID-19 list
The Packers placed Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
ANALYSIS
According to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Love has previously disclosed to reporters that he's vaccinated, which means his placement on the list is the result of a breakthrough positive test. He'll be eligible to rejoin the Packers as soon as he's showing diminished symptoms of the virus and tests negative on two occasions at least 24 hours apart, giving him a chance to make it back in action as the backup to Aaron Rodgers for Sunday's game against the Bears. With Rodgers nursing a toe injury that will likely result in him sitting out portions of practice this week, practice squad quarterback Kurt Benkert could take most of the first-team reps over the next few days.
Nov 14, 2021
Returning to No. 2 role
Love is set to resume backup duties for the Packers in Sunday's game against the Seahawks after the team reinstated starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
After Rodgers' surprise placement on the list last week, Love picked up his first NFL start and generally struggled to move the chains in the Packers' 13-7 loss to the Chiefs, finishing with 19 completions on 34 attempts for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding 23 yards on the ground. Though Love continued to take all the first-team reps in practice this week while Rodgers remained isolated from the team, the reigning MVP took part in virtual meetings and performed conditioning drills on his own to stay prepared to start. Even if Love had fared better in his first extensive NFL action last week, he was always unlikely to pick up another start so long as Rodgers was activated when first eligible.
Nov 7, 2021
Struggles in first start
Love completed 19 of 34 pass attempts for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Kansas City on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Love also ran for 23 yards on five carries. Love seemed to struggle to identify pressure pre-snap and would make errant throws when the subsequent post-snap pressure caught him by surprise, but at times when he had blocking he made a handful of encouraging throws. The interception throw was nearly a completed pass to Davante Adams, but the throw was slightly off and corner L'Jarius Sneed made a great play to snatch it from Adams. There was never any doubt that this is Aaron Rodgers' team when healthy, but Love all but confirmed Sunday that he needs more development time before he might be able to cash in on his otherwise substantial athletic talent.
Nov 3, 2021
First NFL start on tap
Love will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Chiefs after top quarterback Aaron Rodgers (illness) informed teammates Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19 and won't be eligible to play Week 9, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After the Packers were forced to get by without All-Pro wideout Davante Adams in the Week 8 win over the Cardinals following his positive COVID-19 test, Green Bay will face an even greater challenge Week 9 sans the reigning NFL MVP. Love, the Packers' 2020 first-round pick, has yet to see any extended regular-season action during his career, with his lone two appearances coming in garbage time of a Week 1 blowout loss to the Saints and for a trio of kneeldowns in a Week 2 win over the Lions. Expect head coach Matt LaFleur to simplify the play calls for Love against Kansas City, with the Packers potentially adopting a run-heavy approach so long as the team isn't trailing by a significant margin. According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garofolo of NFL Network, Rodgers is unvaccinated, so he'll require a longer period of time to clear the necessary health and safety protocols than a vaccinated player and won't be a lock to return to action Week 10 against the Seahawks.
Sep 12, 2021
Sees action in rout
Love replaced Aaron Rodgers early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Saints, completing five of seven passes for 68 yards.
ANALYSIS
The 2020 first-round pick saw the first regular-season action of his career under less than ideal circumstances, but Love acquitted himself credibly at the end of the blowout. There's no quarterback controversy in Green Bay despite Aaron Rodgers' stunningly bad performance Sunday, but if the veteran does continue to struggle, Love could creep onto the fantasy radar in deep 2QB leagues.
Aug 28, 2021
Moves ball but throws pick
Love completed 12 of 18 passes for 149 yards and an interception in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Love played all three drives in the first half and one more in the third quarter, failing to put up any points despite moving the ball with relative ease. The Packers were stuffed at the goal line on fourth down on their opening drive, and Mason Crosby missed a 28-yard FG attempt on the second series. In between, Love spoiled an otherwise pretty drive when he heaved the ball into the end zone for an easy interception on 1st-and-10. He still has a lot to work on, but the past few weeks represent progress after he struggled last summer and then spent his rookie season buried in the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. Love now moves up to No. 2 in what could be Aaron Rodgers' final season with the Packers.
Aug 28, 2021
Starting Saturday afternoon
Love (shoulder) will start Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love is returning from a shoulder injury but nonetheless is expected to play the entire first half. Coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that the second-year QB might even play into the third quarter.
Aug 26, 2021
Could play into third quarter
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (shoulder) will play the entire first half and possibly into the third quarter if he's deemed healthy before Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Kurt Benkert will enter the game after Love, while fourth-string QB Jacob Dolegala wasn't mentioned. Aaron Rodgers, of course, will be held out, finishing up the preseason without making an appearance. Love injured his shoulder in the preseason opener and missed the second contest, but he seems to be on track for Saturday's exhibition after his return to practice on a limited basis at the beginning of the week.
Aug 23, 2021
Will practice Monday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Love (shoulder) will get some work in at practice, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur previously stated that he expects love to participate in individual drills, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, then tentatively resume handling team reps Tuesday. The 2020 first-round pick appears to be making solid progress in his recovery from a right shoulder injury picked up during the Packers' preseason opener. If all goes well as Love ramps up his practice activity, it's possible he gains clearance in time for Saturday's exhibition contest against the Bills.
Aug 22, 2021
May return to practice Monday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (shoulder) is slated to participate in individual drills at Monday's practice, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Love injured his right throwing shoulder on a strip sack preseason Week 1, which has held him out of drills in the meantime. LaFleur noted Love got in some tosses with the training staff this past week, per Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, and if all goes well Monday, the second-year signal-caller may get some work in team drills at Tuesday's session. Love hasn't been ruled out of the Packers' exhibition finale next Saturday at Buffalo, but his availability for the contest likely is contingent on how he progresses in the coming days.
Aug 21, 2021
Remains day-to-day
Love (shoulder) has not been cleared to return to the field yet, but he may be able to play in the Packers' final preseason game at Buffalo, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was held out of Saturday's contest against the Jets with the injury, but it sounds as if he is nearing a return. Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that when Love is cleared from the injury he will be the team's backup quarterback. Love played fairly well in the team's first preseason contest -- he completed 12 of 17 pass attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown -- and it would benefit him to get more reps in game action before the regular season begins.
Aug 21, 2021
Out Saturday
Love (shoulder) will not play Saturday against the Jets, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This shouldn't be surprising considering coach Matt LaFleur more or less confirmed the 2020 first-round pick would not be active for the preseason contest. With Aaron Rodgers also getting a veteran's night off, Kurt Benkert and Jake Dolegala are the only two active quarterbacks for the Packers on Saturday, with the former expected to take the majority of the work.
Aug 19, 2021
Not expected to play Saturday
Coach Matt LaFleur said it is "probably unlikely" that Love (shoulder) will suit up for Saturday's preseason contest against the Jets, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love turned in a solid performance during his preseason debut against the Texans last weekend, but he sustained a minor shoulder injury in the process, and the Packers aren't taking any risks in his recovery process. Kurt Benkert will be in line to start Saturday's exhibition matchup if Love indeed remains sidelined, while Jacob Dolegala, who only re-signed with Green Bay on Tuesday, would operate as his backup and potential relief option. Per Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Love is not practicing Thursday.
Aug 18, 2021
Throwing, but unlikely to practice
Coach Matt LaFleur said "you will probably not see [Love] in practice" Wednesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur also said that Love resumed throwing in at least some capacity Tuesday, and that his shoulder will be tested again Wednesday, but he declined to offer any updates about the second-year quarterback's status for Saturday's preseason game against the Jets. The Packers will "give [Love] every opportunity," per LaFleur, but "don't want to put him in a situation to make it worse." Love injured his shoulder during last weekend's exhibition matchup against the Texans, and though the MRI came back clean, Green Bay clearly intends to approach his recovery with caution. Kurt Benkert and Jacob Dolegala will continue to see increased reps as long as Love is sidelined.
Aug 16, 2021
Will not practice Monday
Love (shoulder) will not practice Monday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Love injured his shoulder in the Packers' exhibition opener, and although head coach Matt LaFleur said Love is "feeling a lot better," he also noted that the Packers are "going to be smart" and give Love some time to recover. Aaron Rodgers and Kurt Benkert are slated to share the reps until Love returns, but LaFleur noted that the Packers are planning to bring in some other quarterbacks for workouts to increase the options should Love's injury linger.
Aug 15, 2021
Set to miss some time
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love (shoulder) may miss practice this week and even sit out Saturday's preseason game against the Jets, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
There was an expectation Love would play three quarters of the Packers' exhibition opener versus the Texans on Saturday, but after he was stripped sacked late in the first half LaFleur opted to keep the second-year quarterback on the sideline after halftime. An MRI on Love's right shoulder Sunday came back clean, but LaFleur clearly doesn't want to press the issue in the coming days. Previously, the coach relayed starter Aaron Rodgers was unlikely to suit up in the preseason, but if Love is forced to sit out Saturday, LaFleur may have to adjust those plans with just one other quarterback (Kurt Benkert) on the roster.
Aug 15, 2021
MRI comes back clean
Love underwent on MRI on his right shoulder Sunday, which didn't reveal any damage, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur told Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette following Saturday's preseason loss to the Texans that Love exited the contest after his throwing shoulder was "dinged" on a strip sack at the end of the first half. Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Love's ensuing comments that it felt "a little strain-ish" -- but that he was "feeling good" -- have come to pass after Sunday's evaluation. With an expectation that'll miss no time due to the health concern, we should see Love out on the practice field in his typical capacity this week.
Aug 14, 2021
'Dings' shoulder in debut
Head coach Matt LaFleur, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, said after Saturday's preseason opener that Love was removed from the contest early after getting "dinged" on a strip sack near the end of the first half. Love, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, said his throwing shoulder was hit and it feels "a little strain-ish" but he's "feeling good now."
ANALYSIS
LaFleur was planning to let Love play three quarters in Saturday's contest, but the injury brought an early end to his night, as he did not take the field after halftime. Love held his own while he was on it, though, and although the bulk of his production came on one drive, he did finish his first appearance as a pro 12-of-17 for 122 yards and a touchdown. He figures to see plenty of preseason action with starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers unlikely to suit up, but the injury leaves his status uncertain for the time being. According to LaFleur, another update on Love's status will be provided Sunday.
Aug 10, 2021
Will see extended action Saturday
According to head coach Matt LaFleur, Love "will play a majority" of Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2020 first-round pick did not take a snap in a non-practice setting in his first season as a professional, but with preseason games returning this year, he will finally get a chance to show what he can do in a game. LaFleur added that starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers will "most likely not" play during the preseason, so Love should have plenty of chances to show what he can do in the weeks ahead. Barring something unexpected, Love is in line to open the season as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart behind Rodgers.
May 27, 2021
Looking better at OTAS
Love displayed improvement at OTAs this week, running the first-team offense while Aaron Rodgers remained away from the team, ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
ANALYSIS
Love reportedly handled all the first-team snaps, though he was throwing most of his passes to backups, as top wideouts Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling didn't participate in the practice that was open to media. Love did throw to TE Robert Tonyan and RB Aaron Jones, with the latter noting that the second-year QB seems much more comfortable this year. Despite being a first-round pick in last year's draft, Love spent his entire rookie season buried in the No. 3 QB role, while Tim Boyle was the No. 2 guy behind Aaron Rodgers. The Packers let Boyle leave for Detroit this offseason, but they did later sign Blake Bortles, who didn't participate in OTAs this week. Regardless, the hope for Love establishing fantasy value this year still depends on how the drama between Rodgers and the Packers plays out.
Jan 21, 2021
No action as a rookie
Love did not appear in a regular-season contest with the Packers as a rookie.
ANALYSIS
Love was a healthy scratch for the Packers all through the regular season while Tim Boyle worked as the backup to Aaron Rodgers, and the same has been true during the postseason. With the 37-year-old Rodgers performing at such a high level to have been named the league MVP, it's difficult to foresee when Love will get a chance to show what he can do in Green Bay's offense. For the time being, and as the offseason approaches, the 2020 first-round pick will focus on continuing to progress in his development with the Packers' coaching staff.

Lifted from COVID list
The Packers activated Love from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Love was placed on the COVID-19 list last Friday, but he's available for team activities immediately after clearing the necessary hurdles. The rookie first-round pick hasn't suited up in a game this season, as Tim Boyle has been the backup for Aaron Rodgers.

Placed on COVID-19 list
The Packers placed Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Love was placed on the COVID-19 list alongside Krys Barnes, who tested positive Friday. The rookie first-round pick may either have tested positive himself, or he could be required to quarantine after coming into close contact with someone who has. In any case, Love has been a healthy scratch for the Packers all season, while Tim Boyle has served as the backup to Aaron Rodgers.

Sits out Week 4
Love (coach's decision) is inactive for the team's Week 4 matchup against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Love battled an illness in the middle of the week, but was able to practice fully Saturday and enter Monday without an injury designation. Nevertheless, he'll remain inactive, also his status for the first three games this season. Tim Boyle will serve as the backup quarterback.

Shakes off illness
Love (illness) won't carry an injury designation into Monday's game versus the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Love was a full participant in Saturday's practice, so he'll be available Monday if necessary. The rookie first-rounder has been a healthy scratch all season, as Tim Boyle has served as the primary backup for Aaron Rodgers.

Returns to practice
Love (illness) returned to practice Saturday, Olivia Reiner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
An illness caused Love to miss practice earlier in the week, but he's seemingly healthy now. While that's certainly good news for him, he's still quite unlikely to play a role Monday against Atlanta, as he's behind both Aaron Rodgers and Tim Boyle on the depth chart.

Inactive for opener
Love is inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Love will not have any chance to make his NFL debut in Week 1, which comes as little surprise given he heads into the season behind both Aaron Rodgers and Tim Boyle on the Packers' depth chart.

Opens as third-string QB
Love is listed as the third-string quarterback on the unofficial depth chart released by the Packers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
The Packers surely would have loved -- no pun intended -- their rookie QB to secure the backup spot behind Aaron Rodgers, but Tim Boyle simply played better during training camp, so he will open the season as the team's No. 2 quarterback. Love was drafted with an eye on the future, and team brass is no doubt still banking on him showing enough improvement in the coming months and years to become a starting quarterback down the road.

Logs best practice yet
Coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday that Love had "his best day up to this point, just making some key throws downfield," Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
"I think he's consistently getting better," LaFleur said. The coach's comments come just days after a report by Matt Schneidman of the Athletic that Love had "yet to even provide a glimpse at why the Packers traded up to draft him in the first round." The Utah State was always expected to require time to develop at the next level, so it's not tremendously worrying to see that he's had an inconsistent training camp. The Packers will no doubt eventually give Love the opportunity to replace Aaron Rodgers, but he'll first get the benefit of at least a couple of seasons to learn as a backup behind the future Hall of Famer.

Gets guaranteed rookie deal
Love received a fully guaranteed, four-year rookie contract from the Packers on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Garafolo, Love is the first 26th overall selection in the current version of the rookie contract system to get such a deal, demonstrating the team's confidence in the Utah State product. A controversial pick by Green Bay due to the presence of veteran signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, Love no doubt will be relegated to clipboard duties for the next few seasons as he learns the ropes. In the long run, though, Love figures to be the successor to Rodgers. Love is coming off a collegiate career in which he averaged 7.6 YPA while tossing 60 touchdowns versus 29 interceptions in 38 games.
