Josh Jacobs Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Vikings vs Packers game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 17, 2025
Diagnosed with knee contusion
Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Jacobs suffered a knee contusion in Sunday's win over the Giants, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFleur said injured reserve is not on the table, and Jacobs can potentially still play next Sunday against the Vikings. By all accounts, Jacobs has avoided a serious injury. If Jacobs does need to miss any time, Emanuel Wilson played 71 percent of the offensive snaps against New York and would be in line to handle RB1 duties for Green Bay.
Nov 17, 2025
No major injury, won't need surgery
Jacobs (knee) has avoided a major injury and will not require surgery, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers will reevaluate Jacobs toward the end of the week, and the running back has yet to be ruled out for next Sunday's game against the Vikings. It's a best-case scenario for Jacobs, who was forced to leave Sunday's win over the Giants in the first half. In Jacobs' absence, Emanuel Wilson played a season-high 71 percent of the offensive snaps and rushed 11 times for 40 yards and one touchdown, adding one catch for nine yards on one target in the passing game. Chris Brooks played just five offensive snaps and handled one carry for eight yards. If Jacobs would need to miss time, Wilson would become an immediate plug-and-play fantasy starter.

Appears to avoid major injury
The Packers believe Jacobs (knee) is not facing a major injury, though he will undergo further medical evaluation Monday to determine the severity of the issue, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs doesn't appear to be facing an injury that will cause him to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines, much less be season-ending, but full clarity on his health won't arrive until the results of Monday's tests are revealed. If Jacobs were to miss any time, top backup Emanuel Wilson would stand to inherit the lead backfield role for Green Bay's valuable rushing attack, with Chris Brooks likely stepping into an expanded change-of-pace gig. Wilson rushed 11 times for 40 yards and a score during the team's win over the Giants in Week 11, while also securing his only target for nine yards and reeling in a two-point conversion pass. Unless the results of Jacobs' tests reveal otherwise, Wilson will be a high priority waiver pickup as the Packers prepare to host the division-rival Vikings on Sunday.
Nov 16, 2025
Set for additional testing on knee
Jacobs' knee injury isn't believed to be season-ending, but he'll undergo additional testing Monday to determine the extent of the issue, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After visiting the sideline tent in the first quarter of Sunday's eventual win at the Giants, Jacobs returned to action for a brief spell before the Packers ruled him out not long after halftime. He thus finished Week 11 action with seven carries for 40 yards while not catching his only target. No. 2 RB Emanuel Wilson took advantage of his touches, turning 12 into 49 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. Wilson and, to a lesser extent, Chris Brooks would stand to benefit if Jacobs misses any time.
Nov 16, 2025
Not returning Sunday
Jacobs (knee) won't return to Sunday's game at the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs visited the blue medical tent in the first quarter, attempted to play through whatever was bothering him and then was deemed questionable to return due to a knee injury. During the Packers' first possession of the second half, he was ruled out, leaving Emanuel Wilson to lead the backfield and Chris Brooks also available at the position.
Nov 16, 2025
Hurts knee Sunday
Jacobs exited Sunday's game against the Giants with a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Before that, Jacobs carried seven times for 40 yards and did not catch his only target. In his absence, Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks are available to handle Green Bay's Week 11 RB duties.
Nov 10, 2025
Logs 26 touches in loss
Jacobs rushed 21 times for 74 yards and a touchdown and brought in five of six targets for 33 yards in the Packers' 10-7 loss to the Eagles on Monday night. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs recorded the Packers' only touchdown of the game on a six-yard run with just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, his 11th score of the season on the ground. The veteran back's trip to the end zone extended his touchdown streak to six games, but he also lost a fumble at his own 44-yard line with only 1:30 remaining, significantly hampering the chances of a comeback. Jacobs has yet to crack the 100-yard threshold in any contest this season, but a Week 11 road matchup against the Giants on Sunday presents a very good opportunity to put an end to that unfavorable trend.
Nov 2, 2025
Extends TD streak to five games
Jacobs carried the ball 17 times for 87 yards and a touchdown and caught four of five targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The former Raider continues to thrive as a Packer. Jacobs' one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter tied the contest at 13-13 and extended his personal scoring streak to five games, a stretch in which he's amassed 354 rushing yards and eight TDs. Sunday's loss also marked his third game this season with 100-plus scrimmage yards. Jacobs will likely be leaned on heavily once again in a Week 10 battle against the Eagles, especially with the Packers having seen Tucker Kraft (knee) and Matthew Golden (shoulder) go down to injuries against the Panthers.
Oct 31, 2025
Avoids injury designation
Jacobs (calf) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs remained effective while playing through the same calf injury in his past two games, though he did cede more work to backup Emanuel Wilson (relative to their respective roles earlier in the season). With the Packers heavily favored this week, Jacobs has strong odds to find the end zone even if he doesn't quite match his early season dominance of Green Bay's rushing work.
Oct 30, 2025
Stays limited Thursday
Jacobs (calf) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is operating with practice limitations for a second consecutive week due to a calf issue, but he was able to play through it the last two games en route to 30 touches for 103 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD during that span. He avoided a designation on the Packers' final Week 8 injury report last Friday, so a similar scenario may come to pass this week.
Oct 29, 2025
Still dealing with calf issue
Jacobs (calf) was limited in practice Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For a second week in a row, Jacobs is kicking it off with a cap on his reps due to a lingering calf injury. However, he was able to suit up this past Sunday at Pittsburgh amd log a 54 percent snap share on his way to 16 touches for 45 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. Jacobs will have two more chances to get back to all activity this week before the Packers potentially clear him again ahead of Sunday's contest against the Panthers.
Oct 27, 2025
TD salvages rough outing Sunday
Jacobs (calf) took 13 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown while corralling all three of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 35-25 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was headed towards his worst fantasy performance of the season before punching in a touchdown late in the fourth quarter on Sunday Night Football. Green Bay's workhorse was held to 2.5 yards per carry, opening the door for backup Emanuel Wilson to lead the team with 61 rushing yards on 11 attempts. Jacobs was dealing with a calf injury during the practice week, which could help explain his poor efficiency in Sunday's victory. The late score extended Jacobs' touchdown streak to four games, rewarding fantasy managers with seven trips to the end zone over that span. Assuming he escaped this contest unscathed, Jacobs should be treated as an elite asset in a soft matchup against the Panthers next Sunday.
Oct 24, 2025
Cleared to play Sunday night
Jacobs (calf) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs played through the same injury last week in a win at Arizona, taking 14 touches for 58 yards and two TDs on 53 percent snap share. He should be tasked with his full workload again now that he's seemingly closer to 100 percent.
Oct 23, 2025
Another limited session
Jacobs (calf) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs played through a calf injury during this past Sunday's win at Arizona, notching 14 touches for 58 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs on a 53 percent snap share. After the running back's limited practice Wednesday, coach Matt LaFleur told Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site on Thursday that Jacobs was "begging for more reps." Jacobs has yet to take on a full allotment of on-field work this week, meaning Friday's session likely will be key for him to avoid a designation ahead of Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
Oct 22, 2025
Limited by calf issue
Jacobs (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs opened last week with back-to-back limited sessions due to an illness, and the Packers tacked on a calf injury Friday, despite the fact he logged a full practice. The health concerns left him questionable for this past Sunday's game at Arizona, but he was able to suit up and continue pacing the Packers backfield to the tune of 14 touches for 58 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs. Jacobs has two chances remaining this week to get back to all activity, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to avoid a game-day designation on this occasion.
Oct 19, 2025
Punches in two TDs in win
Jacobs carried the ball 13 times for 55 yards and two touchdowns and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Both TDs came in the second half as the Packers rallied from a 13-6 halftime deficit, with Jacobs hitting paydirt from seven yards out in the third quarter and from the one-yard line in the fourth for the game-winning score. It's the veteran back's third straight game with multiple touchdowns, and while he has yet to reach 100 rushing yards in a game in 2025, Jacobs' eight TDs on the ground and 593 scrimmage yards through six contests have given him plenty of fantasy value. He'll look to keep rolling in Week 8 against the Steelers.
Oct 19, 2025
Active in Week 7
Jacobs (illness/calf) is listed as active Sunday at Arizona, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday due to an illness, but despite the Packers tacking on a calf injury on Friday's practice report, he logged a full session to end Week 7 prep. A questionable designation for Jacobs ensued before Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Saturday evening that the running was a "true game-time decision." Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Jacobs completed a pregame workout Sunday, after which uncertainty surrounding his availability was extinguished. However, it's unknown if Jacobs will be able to take on his normal 22.6 touches per game. If Jacobs yields some of those reps to the rest of Green Bay's backfield, Emanuel Wilson likely will be the biggest beneficiary, with Chris Brooks also on hand for work.
Oct 18, 2025
True game-time decision
Jacobs (illness), who remains listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, is considered a "true game-time decision," a league source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs turned in a full practice session Friday despite being listed as dealing with an illness, and Schefter now reports that the Packers don't anticipate being able to confirm his status until Sunday. He had been limited Wednesday and Thursday. That means the final word on Jacobs' availability, or lack thereof, may not arrive until roughly 90 minutes prior to the team's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Emanuel Wilson will be in line to start at running back for Green Bay if Jacobs is unavailable, while change-of-pace man Chris Brooks would figure to handle the bulk of pass-catching reps. Fantasy managers awaiting news on Jacobs' status will want to scour for Wilson and/or Brooks on their league's waiver wire.
Oct 17, 2025
Questionable despite full practice
Jacobs (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Arizona despite upgrading to full practice participation Friday, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers would rather see the injury designation removed entirely, but an upgrade to full participation is the second-best sign. Jacobs was limited Wednesday and Thursday, never missing practice entirely, so there shouldn't be any issues in terms of mental preparation. He'll likely be ready for his normal workload Sunday, after piling up 307 total yards and four TDs over the past two games.
Oct 16, 2025
Another limited showing
Jacobs (illness) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is operating with a cap on his reps this week due to an illness, leaving him just one more chance to get back to full Friday, or else risk entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest in Arizona. He's been running on all cylinders the last two games, racking up 49 touches for 307 yards from scrimmage and four rushing touchdowns during that stretch.
Oct 15, 2025
Comes down with illness
Jacobs was limited in practice Wednesday due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
After a somewhat slow start to the season, Jacobs has been making the most of his workload over the last two games, combining for 307 yards from scrimmage and four rushing TDs on 49 touches. As the Packers kick off Week 7 prep, he's dealing with an ailment, but his ability to practice in some capacity Wednesday indicates he isn't in much danger of missing Sunday's contest at Arizona, In the end, Jacobs will have two more chances to get back to all activity ahead of the weekend.
Oct 12, 2025
Scores twice to beat Bengals
Jacobs rushed the ball 18 times for 93 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-18 win over the Bengals. He added five receptions on five targets for 57 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Packers had an efficient offensive day, both on the ground and through the air. Jacobs unsurprisingly led the way as a rusher, ripping off long runs of 16 and 14 yards -- the latter of which went for a touchdown to kick off the fourth quarter. He also turned in his third straight game with at least four catches. Despite not reaching 100 rushing yards in any game, Jacobs has found the end zone six times in five contests and remains one of the most reliable fantasy contributors at running back.
Sep 29, 2025
Huge performance in primetime
Jacobs rushed the ball 22 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-40 tie with the Cowboys. He added four receptions for 71 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had only 48 yards at halftime, but he found more room to work as both a rusher and receiver in the second half. The highlight of his performance was an 18-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, which was one of his three rushes to go for double-digit yardage. Jacobs also made an impact as a pass catcher, surpassing 70 receiving yards for the fourth time in his career and second time as a Packer. Sunday night's performance was also the first time he surpassed 100 total yards in a game this season, though he has found the end zone in three of four contests.
Sep 26, 2025
Good to go
Jacobs (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Dallas, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has been a limited practice participant for two weeks now, with no sign so far of the ankle injury limiting his workloads come game day. He'll face a vulnerable Dallas defense this Sunday with the Packers favored by nearly a touchdown.
Sep 25, 2025
Limited Thursday
Jacobs (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs appears to be following the same LP/LP/LP practice regimen from last week due to an ankle issue, which, if it's officially replicated, will mean the running back doesn't carry a designation into the weekend. He's been afforded plenty of carries (58) this season but is averaging just 3.1 YPC, and he also has just six catches through three contests. Jacobs also saw his streak of games with a rushing touchdown end at 11 in this past Sunday's loss at Cleveland.
Sep 24, 2025
Stays limited at practice
Jacobs (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Packers also capped Jacobs' practice reps last week but didn't tag him with a designation prior to this past Sunday's game at Cleveland, so he may be destined for a similar fate by the end of Week 4 prep. In Week 3, he wasn't able to get much going on the ground (16-30-0), but he turned his nine targets into five catches for 44 yards. Friday's injury report will unveil if Jacobs heads into the weekend with a designation ahead of Sunday's contest in Dallas.
Sep 21, 2025
Stonewalled on ground in upset loss
Jacobs rushed 16 times for 30 yards and brought in five of nine targets for 44 yards in the Packers' 13-10 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs got a first-hand taste of a run defense that has essentially been the AFC version of his own team's unit in the early part of the season. The talented back only mustered a long gain of seven yards, and the Packers ultimately began swapping out targets for some of his normal allotment of rush attempts, leading to season highs in both receptions and receiving yards. Following the shocking upset, Jacobs and his teammates will look to rebound in an intriguing Week 4 road matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday night.
Sep 19, 2025
Cleared to play
Jacobs (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs never made the upgrade to full practice participation but at least took part in a limited capacity this week. He should stay busy Sunday with the Packers heavily favored to win, although Cleveland's one distinct strength so far this season has been shutting down the run. If nothing else, Jacobs is always a strong bet to rack up volume and score a touchdown.
Sep 18, 2025
Another limited practice
Jacobs (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has operated with a cap on his reps so far during Week 3 prep, giving him just one more opportunity to handle every practice rep Friday before the Packers potentially tag him with a designation ahead of Sunday's contest in Cleveland. With TE Tucker Kraft injuring his left knee at Thursday's session, Jacobs may see an increased role in Green Bay's passing game after recording just one target through two weeks of the season.
Sep 17, 2025
Tending to ankle issue
Jacobs was limited in practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers' ground game has struggled to get going through two contests, but Jacobs still has churned out 150 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries while hauling in his only target for four yards. Coming off nearly a week of rest since last Thursday's win against the Commanders, though, Jacobs wasn't able to handle a full allotment of reps Wednesday as Green Bay prepares for Sunday's contest at Cleveland.
Sep 12, 2025
Solid high-volume effort in win
Jacobs rushed 23 times for 84 yards and a touchdown and wasn't targeted during the Packers' 27-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The workhorse back was the only Packers running back to log a carry, and Jacobs worked hard for his yards all night considering he had a game-long run of just 10 yards. Jacobs also went in for his second touchdown in as many games on a two-yard run just before the midway point of the second quarter, rounding out his fantasy performance in solid fashion. After logging 43 touches in the first five days of the new season, the veteran back will now get some extra time to ramp up for a Week 3 road matchup against the Browns.
Sep 7, 2025
Finds end zone in Week 1 win
Jacobs rushed 19 times for 66 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for four yards in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs scored at least one rushing touchdown in eight consecutive games to close out the 2024 regular season and extended his touchdown streak to nine games with a three-yard score in the fourth quarter. He's locked in as Green Bay's bell cow running back, as Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks had just one carry apiece. Jacobs will look to add to his touchdown streak in Thursday's Week 2 home game against the Commanders, who held the Giants' running backs to 30 combined rushing yards in Week 1.
Aug 23, 2025
Another quick preseason appearance
Jacobs rushed the ball one time for five yards in Saturday's 20-7 preseason win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs suited up for the second time this preseason and once again made a very quick appearance. He took a carry on the first play of the game and then departed the contest to ensure he's ready for a Week 1 matchup against the Lions. Jacobs should be in line for a heavy workload once again as the Packers' clear workhorse back.
Aug 23, 2025
In uniform for preseason game
Jacobs and other starters are in uniform for pregame warmups ahead of Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This doesn't necessarily mean they'll play, but for now it's a possibility, with coach Matt LaFleur declining to announce his plans for the final preseason game. Starting QB Jordan Love (finger) isn't in uniform, but that's because of his recent surgery -- something not expected to impact his Week 1 availability.
Aug 16, 2025
Not suiting up Saturday
Jacobs will not play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Colts, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs started Green Bay's preseason opener against the Jets, playing just one offensive snap, but the Packers won't opt to risk key starters Saturday versus Indianapolis. In addition to injured players such as Jordan Love (thumb), Jayden Reed (knee), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Romeo Doubs (back), several key starters alongside Jacobs will be healthy scratches, including TE Tucker Kraft. Malik Willis (starting under center), rookie first-round receiver Matthew Golden, and backup running backs Emanuel Wilson and MarShawn Lloyd will be among key offensive playmakers available for the Packers.
Aug 11, 2025
Limited to one snap
Jacobs started and played one snap in Saturday's 30-10 exhibition loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs suited up for Green Bay's preseason opener and was on the field when the game began, but he did not record a touch in the contest. The lack of action was not injury-related, and Jacobs is set to open the season as the top option in the backfield for the Packers.
Jul 17, 2025
Still No. 1 RB, but backup is TBD
Jacobs remains the Packers' unquestioned No. 1 running back entering the 2025 season, but his primary backup is to be determined, Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay seemingly used a third-round pick in the 2024 Draft on MarShawn Lloyd to solidify its reserve RB ranks behind Jacobs, but Lloyd managed just one appearance (and seven touches) as a rookie due to a variety of health concerns. With Lloyd sidelined for most of last season, Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks combined for 161 touches, which was a far cry from Jacobs' 337. Jacobs boasts four campaigns of 1,000-plus rushing yards in his six-year career, and considering the workload he handled in 2024, he's set to take on a similar burden this year. Still, if Lloyd proves his health and sheds his fumble-prone label from college, he could swap places with Wilson as the No. 2 option in the Packers backfield.
Jan 12, 2025
Big game in postseason loss
Jacobs rushed the ball 18 times for 81 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Eagles. He added three receptions on three targets for 40 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the driving force behind Green Bay's comeback attempt in the second half, with the highlight being an impressive 32-yard touchdown run at the close of the third quarter. He also chipped in long receptions of 15 and 14 yards to close his campaign on a strong note. After posting a career-best 16 touchdowns while tallying 1,671 yards from scrimmage during the regular season, Jacobs will almost certainly be back to lead the backfield for the Packers in 2025.
Jan 5, 2025
Scores 15th rushing TD in finale
Jacobs rushed six times for 44 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for two yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs extended his touchdown streak to eight games with his 15th rushing touchdown of the season on a nine-yard run in the second quarter. That play capped Jacobs' first regular season in Green Bay, as Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks handled backfield duties the rest of the way. Jacobs rushed 301 times for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 36 catches for 342 yards and his first career receiving touchdown on 43 targets in the regular season. The seventh-seeded Packers will travel to Philadelphia in the wild-card round.
Jan 3, 2025
No injury designation
Jacobs (wrist) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs never seemed in real danger of missing the game and figures to occupy his usual role as Green Bay's workhorse. There is some chance of his usage eventually being scaled back, however, as the team's chances to move up from the seventh seed to No. 6 depend on the Cowboys beating the Commanders in a game that takes place at the same time as Green Bay's. In other words, the Packers may start to pull starters if it looks like a victory won't help them avoid a first-round trip to Philadelphia.
Jan 2, 2025
Another limited session
Jacobs (wrist) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs opened Week 18 prep with a limited walkthrough Wednesday and maintained that activity level on day later, giving him one more chance to get back to full participation Friday or else risk entering the weekend with a designation ahead of Sunday's contest against the Bears. In his first meeting with Chicago this season, he went for 134 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD on 22 touches back in Week 11.
Jan 1, 2025
Limited by wrist injury
Jacobs was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a wrist injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
His ability to participate in any capacity for the first practice of the week suggests Jacobs likely will play Sunday against the Bears. Green Bay is only playing for the difference between the Nos. 6 and 7 seeds at this point, but that doesn't mean the game will be treated different from any other, as dropping down to the final playoff spot in the NFC would mean a trip to Philadelphia in the opening round.
Dec 29, 2024
Rare miscue in loss to Vikings
Jacobs rushed the ball 17 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-25 win over the Packers. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The Packers got off to a slow start offensively, and Jacobs played a key role in that by losing a fumble on the team's opening possession. He made up for the miscue later in the contest with a two-yard touchdown plunge, his 15th score of the campaign. Jacobs has now found the end zone in seven consecutive games, making him one of the most consistent fantasy performers at the position.
Dec 23, 2024
Gains 107 yards in three quarters
Jacobs rushed 13 times for 69 yards and a touchdown while recording four receptions on as many targets for 38 yards in Monday's 34-0 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was able to carve out a strong fantasy line for managers in just three quarters of action in Monday's shutout. There is no injury to report, head coach Matt LaFleur simply decided to rest his workhorse in the fourth quarter with the victory cemented. Fantasy managers can expect a well-rested Jacobs in Week 17 when the Packers visit the Vikings on Sunday.
Dec 15, 2024
Tale of two halves on SNF
Jacobs rushed 26 times for 94 yards and a touchdown while catching all four of his targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Seahawks. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was involved from the get-go with 44 scrimmage yards on seven carries and two catches on the opening drive, including a one-yard touchdown run. He finished the first half with 17 touches for 111 yards but struggled after halftime. Jacobs went backward in the third quarter with four carries for minus-5 yards, then fumbled in the fourth. He racked up some more yardage as the Packers kept the clock running with the lead but was stuffed on fourth-and-2 with 5:55 left. Jacobs came six rushing yards shy of his fourth 100-yard rushing performance, but he's up to 12 rushing touchdowns in 14 games with the Packers and will look to add to that total against the Saints in Week 16.
Dec 5, 2024
Three more TDs in loss
Jacobs rushed 18 times for 66 yards and three touchdowns in the Packers' 34-31 loss to the Lions on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had a fourth touchdown via a six-yard reception nullified by an offensive pass interference penalty on Christian Watson with just under five minutes remaining in the game. The standout back found the end zone on the ground from one, six and four yards out in the second, third and fourth quarters, respectively, his second three-touchdown effort of the season. Jacobs also officially went without a catch for the third time overall in 2024, but his complete domination of Green Bay's backfield and his massive red-zone usage keeps him as an elite option in a Week 15 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday night, Dec. 15.
Dec 4, 2024
Clear for Week 14
Jacobs (calf) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game at Detroit, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs operated with a cap on his practice reps Monday through Wednesday due to a calf injury, but it won't stop him from continuing to lead Green Bay's backfield Thursday. Over his last five contests, he's averaged 22.4 touches for 118 yards from scrimmage and 1.4 touchdowns per game, making him a must-start option for fantasy purposes.
Dec 3, 2024
Puts in limited practice
Jacobs (calf) was a limited practice participant Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The Packers have listed Jacobs as a limited participant on both of their first two Week 14 injury reports, but head coach Matt LaFleur hasn't offered any indications that the star running back is at risk of missing Thursday's game at Detroit. Jacobs could just be getting some extra maintenance for his calf after logging at least 15 touches in each of Green Bay's last eight games.
Dec 2, 2024
Dealing with calf injury
Jacobs was limited at Monday's practice due to a calf injury
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has strung together five consecutive games with at least 100 yards from scrimmage, a stretch in which he's accumulated 112 touches for 590 total yards and seven rushing TDs. As the Packers gear up for Thursday's contest at Detroit, though, he's tending to a health concern, so his status will be one to monitor as the week goes on.
Nov 29, 2024
Totals 117 yards
Jacobs rushed the ball 19 times for 43 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 30-17 win over the Dolphins. He added four receptions on four targets for 74 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was inefficient on the ground, though he punched in a one-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to pad his performance. He also chipped in as a receiver, highlighted by a long 49-yard catch and run midway through the fourth quarter. Overall, Jacobs found the end zone for the fourth time in his last five games and has topped 100 yards from scrimmage in each of those contests.
Nov 24, 2024
Overcomes cramping to score thrice
Jacobs rushed 26 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns without recording a reception in Sunday's 38-10 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs gave fantasy managers a scare when he limped off the field after scoring his second touchdown of the contest. Fortunately, Green Bay's leading rusher was only dealing with cramping and was able to return and finish off the victory. Jacobs added four more rushing attempts and a third score following his brief exit, assuring those rostering the tailback that he avoided a potential stint on the sidelines. The three-score effort helped the bruising rusher surpass his season rushing and touchdown totals from last year in two fewer games since joining the Packers. Expect a well-hydrated Jacobs to be a key part of Green Bay's attack against Miami on Thanksgiving.

Back in Sunday's game
Jacobs (cramps) returned to Sunday's contest against the 49ers, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After scoring his second TD of the game with 4:28 left in the third quarter, Jacobs went to the locker room and was considered questionable to return due to cramps. He missed the Packers' next offensive possession but got back on the field early in the fourth quarter, eclipsing 100 yards on the ground on his 23 carry of the game.
Nov 24, 2024
Departs due to cramping Sunday
Jacobs is dealing with cramps during Sunday's game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
After scoring his second touchdown of the contest with 4:28 remaining in the third quarter from one-yard out, Jacobs ran to the locker room and was deemed questionable to return shortly thereafter. Jacobs had 22 carries for 99 yards and the pair of end-zone visits at the time of his exit. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks are the other running backs available on the Packers' game-day roster.
Nov 22, 2024
Cleared to play
Jacobs (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Listed with lower-body injuries more often than not, Jacobs has yet to miss a game this season, averaging 17.6 carries for 83.8 yards and 2.3 catches for 18.6 yards. A total of five TDs in 10 games is somewhat disappointing relative to his yardage, but he's scored all five of those within the past six contests after failing to hit pay dirt over the first month of the season. The upcoming matchup looks more favorable than a date with the 49ers typically would be, as the Packers are considerable favorites against a team that's missing a bunch of key players, including QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) and DE Nick Bosa (hip).
Nov 21, 2024
Another limited showing
Jacobs (quadriceps/calf) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
A pair of lower-body injuries have resulted in a cap on Jacobs' reps so far this week. The Packers may clear up his status upon posting their final practice report of the week Friday, but assuming he's able to suit up Sunday against the 49ers, he should be good for his typical 19.9 touches per game.
Nov 20, 2024
Dealing with dual health concerns
Jacobs was limited in practice Wednesday due to quadricep and calf injuries, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs operated with a cap on his practice reps last week due to a quad issue, but it didn't stop him from avoiding a designation ahead of this past Sunday's game at Chicago. Overall, he handled 22 touches in the 20-19 win and turned them into 134 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. Jacobs now has another health concern to deal with, though, so his listing on injury reports Thursday and Friday should be telling for his odds to continue operating as the Packers' No. 1 RB on Sunday against the 49ers.
Nov 17, 2024
Robust all-around production Sunday
Jacobs rushed 18 times for 76 yards and a touchdown and brought in four of five targets for 58 yards in the Packers' 20-19 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs saw his usual workload on the ground, logging under 20 carries for the fifth time in the last six games. As customary, the versatile veteran was efficient with his opportunities while setting a new season high in receiving yards. Jacobs also scored his third rushing touchdown in the last three games on a seven-yard run just past the midway point of the third quarter, making it a productive all-around fantasy day for him in the narrow divisional win. The offseason addition will carry a four-game streak of at least 76 rushing yards into a Week 12 home showdown against the 49ers.
Nov 15, 2024
No injury designation
Jacobs (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Chicago, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Packers limited Jacobs' practice reps coming out of a bye week but never gave any indication he was in danger of missing Sunday's game. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks again will be the reserve options, as rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd was diagnosed Friday with appendicitis after missing the previous seven games due to a high-ankle sprain. Regardless, Jacobs is locked in as Green Bay's lead runner, averaging 17.6 carries for 84.7 yards per game, with three rushing TDs and a receiving TD in nine appearances.
Nov 14, 2024
Another limited session
Jacobs (quadriceps) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs now has put together back-to-back capped sessions to begin Week 11 prep. The same can be said for rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd, who remains on injured reserve, due to ankle and hamstring issues. Friday's practice report may provide some clarity on the status of both players ahead of Sunday's game at Chicago.
Nov 14, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Jacobs (quadricep) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of a bye, Jacobs is tending to a quad injury that has resulted in his reps being capped in the Packers' first two Week 11 practices. Head coach Matt LaFleur hasn't yet indicated that the quad issue is anything that will threaten Jacobs' availability for Sunday's game against the Bears, but the running back may need to put in a full practice Friday to avoid taking an injury designation into the weekend.
Nov 13, 2024
Limited by quad injury
Jacobs (quadriceps) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of a Week 10 bye, Jacobs is making an appearance on the Packers' first Week 11 practice report, as is rookie RB MarShawn Lloyd (ankle/hamstring), who also was limited after the team designated him for return from injured reserve Monday. Jacobs and Lloyd will have two more chances this week to return to full participation or else risk entering the weekend with designations ahead of Sunday's game at Chicago.
Nov 3, 2024
Disappears in second half
Jacobs rushed the ball 13 times for 95 yards in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Packers. He added two receptions on three targets for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the driving force behind the Packers' offense in the first two quarters, as he picked up 89 yards on 10 carries at halftime. He had long gains of 37 and 13 yards, the latter of which came on the team's opening scoring drive. However, he tallied only three carries in the second half as Green Bay attempted to come back from a 17-3 deficit, leading to more involvement for Chris Brooks and Emanuel Wilson. Jacobs remains the clear lead back in the offense, though Sunday's usage was concerning for him if the Packers fall behind in contests moving forward.
Nov 3, 2024
Available in Week 9
Jacobs (ankle) is active for Sunday's game versus the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs emerged from the Packers' Week 8 win in Jacksonville with an ankle injury that didn't allow him to practice until Thursday, but he ended Week 9 prep with back-to-back limited sessions before heading into the weekend listed as questionable. With his status confirmed for Sunday's outing, he should be good for his normal 20.1 touches per game.
Nov 2, 2024
Likely to suit up Sunday
Jacobs, who is officially questionable for Sunday's matchup against Detroit due to an ankle injury, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs hurt his ankle late in last Sunday's win over Jacksonville and logged a DNP/LP/LP progression in practice this week. He entered the weekend deemed questionable to take the field against Detroit but appears set to try to play through the injury. Jacobs will likely be getting the ball from Jordan Love, who is also expected to play Sunday, per Schefter, despite dealing with a groin injury.
Nov 1, 2024
Questionable for Week 9
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was injured late in the fourth quarter of last week's 30-27 win over the Jaguars and then missed practice Wednesday. He returned Thursday and Friday as a limited participant, giving him a decent shot to be active ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. The Packers have Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks as alternatives if Jacobs is absent or limited, with Wilson having handled most of the backup work this season but Brooks getting more involved Week 8 against Jacksonville (22 percent snap share and five touches for 16 yards, while Wilson took 18 percent snap share and six touches for three yards).
Oct 31, 2024
Turns in limited practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a Week 8 win over the Jaguars in which he took on 26 touches -- his second-highest total of the season -- Jacobs has been subject to a lighter workload in practice this week. He sat out Wednesday's practice due to what the Packers termed as an ankle issue, though Jacobs suggested that the injury is a minor concern that won't keep him from playing in a critical divisional matchup with the Lions this Sunday. Jacobs' ability to take some reps Thursday offers further encouragement on that front, and if cleared to play against the Lions, the Packers could continue to lean heavily on the veteran running back. Quarterback Jordan Love (groin) was forced out of the Week 8 win and could be in danger of sitting out against the Lions, which could prompt the Packers to lean on a more run-heavy game plan led by Jacobs if Malik Willis ends up stepping in for Love as the team's starting signal-caller.
Oct 31, 2024
Returns to practice Thursday
Jacobs (ankle) took part in practice Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs appeared to be favoring his lower body at times during this past Sunday's win at Jacksonville, and coach Matt LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic on Wednesday that the running back "rolled" his ankle late in the fourth quarter. As such, Jacobs didn't practice Wednesday, but he also relayed that he intends to suit up Sunday versus the Lions. Thursday's practice report will reveal how much work he was able to handle.
Oct 30, 2024
Says he'll play this week
Jacobs (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday but said he'll be ready for Sunday's game against Detroit, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur also hinted at the injury being minor, saying Wednesday that Jacobs "rolled" his ankle late in the fourth quarter and wanted to re-enter Sunday's 30-27 win over the Jaguars. The Packers held him out for the final few snaps but now seem optimistic about having Jacobs ready for an NFC North showdown this Sunday. QB Jordan Love (groin) appears in more danger of missing the game, which would put more of the offensive burden on Jacobs and the other pieces of Green Bay's running game (backup QB Malik Willis as well as backup RBs Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks).
Oct 30, 2024
Misses practice with ankle injury
Jacobs missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury he suffered toward the end of Sunday's 30-27 win at Jacksonville, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs wanted to go back into the game but was prevented from doing so on the final drive. The Packers ended up winning on a chip-shot field goal after a 51-yard connection between backup QB Malik Willis and Jayden Reed. There's an opportunity for Jacobs to be even more emphasized than usual in the Green Bay offense if his ankle injury clears up before QB Jordan Love's groin injury.
Oct 30, 2024
Not spotted at Wednesday's practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' absence may simply be related to load management, and Wednesday's official injury report will provide clarity on the star running back's health. Quarterback Jordan Love (groin) is also not practicing Wednesday and seems up-in-the-air for Week 9, making Jacobs' availability an even more pivotal factor than usual for the Packers' offense. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks are both available behind Jacobs in the backfield for Green Bay.
Oct 27, 2024
Carries offense after QB exits
Jacobs rushed 25 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns while losing two yards on his only reception in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs punched in Green Bay's first and final touchdowns en route to a narrow victory. The lead back's second-half performance was crucial after starting quarterback Jordan Love (groin) left Sunday's tilt in the third quarter. Jacobs is a significant part of the Packers' gameplan whether or not Love is able to suit up against the Lions next Sunday. Fantasy managers should start the 26-year-old with confidence.
Oct 20, 2024
First career receiving TD in win
Jacobs rushed 12 times for 76 yards while catching all five of his targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs saw a light workload in the first half, turning six carries and two targets into 38 scrimmage yards. He didn't take long to get going after halftime, breaking off a 27-yard run on Green Bay's first possession of the second half and capping that possession with an eight-yard touchdown reception. It was his first career touchdown catch, coming on the 212th catch of Jacobs' career to set a record for most receptions before scoring a receiving touchdown. With the receiving touchdown monkey finally off his back, Jacobs will look to add to his season total of two scrimmage touchdowns when the Packers travel to Jacksonville in Week 8.
Oct 13, 2024
Racks up 90 total yards in win
Jacobs rushed 18 times for 62 yards and caught all three of his targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has reached 90 scrimmage yards in four of six games with the Packers but has only one touchdown this season, as all four of Green Bay's touchdowns Sunday were scored by wide receivers. The former Raiders running back is poised for another substantial workload in Week 7 against the Texans, but Jacobs will have to work hard for his yards against a Houston defense that just held Patriots running backs to 44 rushing yards on 21 carries (2.1 YPC).
Oct 6, 2024
Solid day against Rams
Jacobs rushed the ball 19 times for 73 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Rams. He added one reception on one target for 21 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was utilized heavily throughout the game to reach 20 total touches for the second time this season. He turned in a mediocre effort from an efficiency perspective, with his longest gain of the day coming on a 21-yard reception that got the Packers deep into Rams territory on a touchdown drive. Jacobs also tallied his first touchdown of the campaign on a two-yard plunge to open the scoring in the contest. While his production has been sensitive to game script, Jacobs has shown a floor of at least 13 touches heading into a Week 6 matchup against the Cardinals.
Sep 29, 2024
Logs 13 touches in loss
Jacobs rushed nine times for 51 yards and brought in four of six targets for 27 yards in the Packers' 31-29 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs averaged an efficient 5.7 yards per carry, and he complemented the productive rushing performance with a season high in receptions and receiving yards. Jacobs' rushing opportunities were curtailed overall due to a game script that saw the Packers fall behind by a large margin over the first two quarters-plus, but he still managed to cobble together a reasonably productive performance relative to opportunity. Jacobs next takes aim at the Rams' inconsistent defense in a Week 5 road matchup.
Sep 22, 2024
Minimal production on 14 carries
Jacobs rushed the ball 14 times for 43 yards in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Titans. He added one reception on one target for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs saw his fewest carries of the season, seemingly in part due to gameplan but also due to ineffectiveness, as he had only 11 yards on seven carries at halftime. Jacobs salvaged his day to some degree with a 10-yard gain late in the fourth quarter -- he also had a 23-yard rush wiped away by a penalty on the next play-- but it was still a subpar performance. He should see plenty of work in Week 4 against Minnesota, and the return of Jordan Love (knee) could help both his volume and efficiency return to a more normal level.
Sep 20, 2024
Clear for Week 3
Jacobs (back) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Tennessee, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For s second week in a row, Jacobs has operated with a cap on his practice reps due to a back injury, but it won't impede him from serving as the Packers' No. 1 running back this weekend. The biggest question mark in Green Bay's offense remains the status of Jordan Love, who is listed as questionable and may be a game-time call, per Bill Huber of SI.com. No matter who among Love or Malik Willis is under center, though, Jacobs should handle a healthy dose of carries, as he has 48 through two contests this season.
Sep 19, 2024
Another limited showing
Jacobs (back) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs now has been listed as limited on five consecutive injury reports due to a lingering back issue, but the cap on his reps is merely precautionary, as evidenced by the running back racking up 32 carries for 151 yards during this past Sunday's win against the Colts. If last week is any indication, he'll be cleared once the Packers post their final report of Week 3 prep Friday.
Sep 18, 2024
Still dealing with back issue
Jacobs was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a back injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs continues to tend to the health concern that capped his on-field reps all of last week, but it didn't stop him from pacing a run-heavy game plan this past Sunday against the Colts, when he tallied 32 carries for 151 yards. With MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) joining AJ Dillon (neck) on injured reserve this week, Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks are the healthy RBs on Green Bay's active roster. In the end, though, Jacobs will remain the team's bell-cow back as long as he's able to suit up on game days.
Sep 18, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs (undisclosed) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if Jacobs is dealing with the back injury that limited in practice all of last week, but it's not surprising that he's dealing with some wear and tear in the wake of handling 32 carries for 151 yards in the past Sunday's win against the Colts. Jacobs' health concern will be revealed once the Packers post their first Week 3 injury report later Wednesday.
Sep 15, 2024
Spearheads offense in Week 2 win
Jacobs rushed 32 times for 151 yards in the Packers' 16-10 win over the Colts on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The offseason acquisition took on a signature workhorse role in the victory, taking on a massive amount of volume in the absence of Jordan Love (knee). Jacobs' ability to consistently rip off productive gains -- his longest run was a relatively modest 34 yards -- helped protect Malik Willis in his first Packers start, and Green Bay's defense did its part to keep the game script favorable for the ground attack with three interceptions and a sack of Anthony Richardson. Jacobs' lack of a pass-game role Sunday was about the only blemish on his otherwise fantasy-friendly afternoon, and he'll aim to extend the hot start to his team tenure against the Titans on the road in Week 3.
Sep 13, 2024
Cleared for Week 2
Jacobs (back) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, after playing 72 percent of snaps and taking 18 touches for 104 yards in the Week 1 loss to Philadelphia. He could be even more emphasized in Green Bay's offense if QB Jordan Love (questionable - MCL) ends up inactive this Sunday, but that might also lead to fewer scoring opportunities for the team and less defensive focus on stopping passes.
Sep 12, 2024
Another limited practice
Jacobs (back) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has kicked off Week 2 prep with consecutive capped sessions due to a back issue, but there's been no indication that his status for Sunday's game against the Colts is in question. Still, his activity level will continue to be monitored, and his listing on Friday's practice report will be key for his odds to suit up this weekend. Assuming he's available, Jacobs could see heavy usage due to the fact that Jordan Love may not be able to play due to the MCL sprain that he suffered in the season opener.
Sep 11, 2024
Tending to back issue
Jacobs was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a back injury, asdf reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic earlier Wednesday that Jacobs would have a cap on his reps to begin Week 2 prep, and the reason for the running back's limitations has become known. Both Jacobs and MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) operated in such a manner Wednesday, which leaves Emanuel Wilson as the only healthy RB on the Packers' active roster at the moment. Jacobs will have two more chances to get back to all activity this week before the team potentially gives him a designation for Sunday's contest versus the Colts.
Sep 11, 2024
Limited in practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Matt LaFleur provided the update before Wednesday's practice but didn't comment on the nature of Jacobs' injury/ailment. The Packers' new running back played 72 percent of snaps in Friday's 34-20 loss to Philadelphia, handling 16 of the team's 20 RB carries and three of the six RB targets en route to 104 total yards. Any limitations for Week 2 against Indianapolis would open up more playing time for Emanuel Wilson and/or MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring), and the Packers generally figure to lean on their rushing attack with QB Malik Willis expected to replace Jordan Love (MCL).
Sep 7, 2024
Logs 104 total yards in GB debut
Jacobs rushed 16 times for 84 yards and caught two of three targets for 20 yards in a loss to the Eagles on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs started slowly, gaining just four yards on six carries in the first half. However, the Alabama product looked much more explosive after halftime, ripping off three runs of over 10 yards, including a 32-yarder early in the fourth period that helped set up a Green Bay field goal. It was an altogether promising first game as a Packer for Jacobs, who surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in three of his five campaigns with the Raiders.
Aug 24, 2024
Sits out final exhibition
Jacobs (coach's decision) was held out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs made a brief appearance in Green Bay's first exhibition contest, but the team opted to keep its new offensive weapon fresh ahead of Week 1. The 26-year-old barely reached 1,000 total yards from scrimmage in his final season with the Raiders, but his production was likely diminished due to poor offensive game planning combined with the lack of a legitimate passing offense to keep opposing defenses honest. That shouldn't be the case in Green Bay, as the Jordan Love era appears to be trending in the right direction in conjunction with the star running back's arrival. Jacobs should still be considered an early-round asset in fantasy drafts as the kickoff of the 2024 season nears.
Aug 11, 2024
Sees brief action Saturday
Jacobs gained seven yards on his only carry and caught his only target for a two-yard loss in Saturday's 23-10 preseason win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The running back dealt with a minor groin injury earlier in the week, but Jacobs was healthy for the Packers' preseason opener and played one series before calling it a day. The former Raider has topped 1,100 scrimmage yards in each of his first five seasons in the NFL, but Green Bay's coaching staff has suggested Jacobs will be used a little more frequently as a receiver during his first season with his new club. Jacobs could see a bigger workload in next Sunday's preseason clash with the Broncos as he gets ready for Week 1.
Aug 6, 2024
No limitations in practice
Jacobs is participating in 11-on-11s at Tuesday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has quickly returned to full participation after a groin injury cost him a few practices last week and then limited his participation to individual drills for a few days thereafter. He's locked in atop the depth chart, ahead of veteran AJ Dillon and rookie third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd. Dillon took 21 of the 26 first-team snaps at Saturday's Family Night practice, with Lloyd handling the other five, per Justin Mosqueda of Acme Packing Co.
Aug 3, 2024
Participating in practice
Jacobs (groin) is participating in Saturday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs ended up missing just two practices with a groin injury that the running back deemed was "just a tweak." Expect the veteran to continue pushing for a significant role in an offense that has featured the running back position often during Matt LaFleur's tenure as head coach.
Aug 2, 2024
Not worried about groin
Jacobs (groin) said Friday that he's healthy enough to play in a game and is dealing with a "tweak" more so than an actual injury, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs isn't worried about the groin injury, and it sounds like he won't miss too many practices. He was held out Thursday for the first time during training camp, which freed up more reps for backups AJ Dillon and MarShawn Lloyd.
Aug 1, 2024
Dealing with groin injury
Jacobs isn't practicing Thursday because of a groin injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A hamstring injury limited Jacobs during the offseason program, but this seems to be his first health issue since the start of training camp. His absence leaves AJ Dillon as the Packers' top running back, with rookie third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd also a candidate to take first-team reps.
Jun 11, 2024
Back to all activity
Jacobs (hamstring) took part in Tuesday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs missed the first week of Packers OTAs due to a hamstring injury, but he was back on a limited basis by the second week before logging time with the first-team offense during the first session of mandatory minicamp this week. On Tuesday, he displayed his agility during early drills while also working on his pass protection, per Wood. Jacobs arrived in Green Bay this offseason on a four-year, $48 million contract, effectively replacing Aaron Jones (Vikings) as the team's top running back. The Packers then re-signed AJ Dillon and added MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of this year's draft, but neither player should block Jacobs, who has averaged 20.6 touches per game in five seasons as a pro, from pacing this backfield.
May 29, 2024
Returns to limited practice
Jacobs (hamstring) returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs returned for individual drills but then mostly sat out the team period. He did, however, take at least one carry in full-team drills, and appears to have made it through the day without any setbacks. The hamstring injury shouldn't have much impact on Jacobs as he prepares to lead a Green Bay backfield that also has AJ Dillon and third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd on hand.
May 21, 2024
Dealing with hamstring injury
Coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Jacobs (hamstring) isn't practicing but shouldn't kept off the field for too long, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was severely limited during OTAs on Tuesday, but it doesn't sound like the Packers are too concerned about his health. In the meantime, though, rookie third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd and returning veteran AJ Dillon will get extra opportunities to handle backfield reps until Jacobs is ready to get back on the field. Jacobs at least worked to the side Tuesday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, so he's already able to get a start taking mental reps and getting acclimated to LaFleur's rushing scheme.
Apr 30, 2024
Joined by third-round pick in backfield
The Packers drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft to join Jacobs and AJ Dillon in their remade backfield, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic report.
ANALYSIS
The decision to release Aaron Jones and sign Jacobs as a replacement likely had a lot to do with the latter being younger, larger and more capable of handling big workloads. It's nonetheless a bit difficult to project Jacobs' touch/snap counts for the upcoming season, as coach Matt LaFleur has almost always used a two-back approach when he's had his top two RBs healthy. On the other hand, there were a bunch of instances when LaFleur leaned heavily on Jones or Dillon (or Jamaal Williams before that) when the other guy wasn't available (rather than giving the third-stringer a large role). The extent of Jacobs' usage may thus depend on LaFleur's confidence in Dillon and/or Lloyd more so than Jacobs' perceived ability to take on huge workloads. Dillon plodded through 2023 and has seen his YPC drop with each passing season in the NFL, while Lloyd looks faster and more explosive but comes with glaring ball-security issues after fumbling at least eight times on 325 touches during his college career.
Mar 11, 2024
To be top dog in Green Bay
Jacobs is slated to sign with the Packers and become the team's clear top running back, with Aaron Jones being released and AJ Dillon poised for free agency, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs initially looked set to join Jones atop Green Bay's depth chart after agreeing to terms with the team, but he instead now has a clear path to a true workhorse role. It's still possible that Jones, or even Dillon, could end up re-signing with the Packers after testing the free agent market, but it remains to be seen how much Green Bay will be willing to invest in the backfield after already making a one big splash in the form of Jacobs. Though he missed four games last season and was forced to overcome questionable quarterback play, Jacobs managed to accrue 1,101 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in 2023. His 3.5 YPC was a career-worst mark, but at just 26 years old and only two years removed from having led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022, Jacobs' ceiling upside as the true No. 1 RB for the Packers could be tremendous.
Mar 11, 2024
Joining Jones in Green Bay
Jacobs is in line to sign a contract with the Packers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay already has a No. 1 running back in place in Aaron Jones, but AJ Dillon just completed his rookie contract and is slated to move on now that the team is slated to ink Jacobs to a deal. Jacobs missed four games due to injury this past season but still managed to post 1,101 yards from scrimmage and six rushing touchdowns for the Raiders, and he's just two years removed from pacing the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards. He'll join forces with Jones to form a formidable tandem out of the Packers backfield.
Mar 5, 2024
Doesn't receive franchise tag
Jacobs was not among the players franchise-tagged ahead of Tuesday's deadline to do so, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Saquon Barkley of the Giants, which sets the stage for the pair of high-profile running backs to be able to explore their options in free agency next week. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, tagging Jacobs would have cost the Raiders $14.1 million, so it's not surprising that the franchise didn't go in that direction. With the likes of Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler, Tony Pollard and D'Andre Swift also eligible to become free agents in the coming days, it remains to be seen what sort of contract awaits Jacobs in a crowded RB market, and with that in mind it's still possible he could end up re-signing with Las Vegas.
Feb 27, 2024
Could stay with Vegas
GM Tom Telesco said Tuesday that the Raiders will make an effort to re-sign Jacobs (quadriceps) even though a franchise tag isn't expected, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. "We're going to explore pretty hard and see if we can bring [Jacobs] back," said Telesco.
ANALYSIS
Telesco's comment comes on the heels of an Adam Schefter report suggesting that Jacobs won't get a franchise tag for a second straight offseason. That's no surprise given the $14.15 million price tag combined with Jacobs' disappointing 2023 campaign, but it doesn't mean the Raiders aren't interested in bring him back. What's less clear is if they'll make a serious effort to re-sign him before free agency or let him test the market once the legal tampering period begins March 11.
Feb 26, 2024
Not getting tag
Jacobs (quadriceps) isn't likely to receive a franchise tag from the Raiders and figures to become a free agent in March, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It would cost the Raiders about $14.15 million to tag Jacobs for a second straight offseason, and this time he's coming off a disappointing, injury-shorted year rather than a career-best breakout campaign. After taking 340 carries for a league-high 1,653 yards (4.9 YPC) in 2022, the 223-pound RB dropped to 233 carries for 805 yards (3.5 YPC) in 2023 before missing the final four games with a quad injury. Jacobs still figures to command starter money when he hits free agency a month after his 26th birthday, but it won't compare to what he would've gotten on the open market last offseason if the Raiders hadn't tagged him. It doesn't help that the upcoming free-agent class is a strong one for RBs, with other potential options including Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard, Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler, D'Andre Swift and Devin Singletary.

Won't play Sunday
Jacobs (quad) has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
With Jacobs, who last saw game action in Week 14, ruled out for the contest, Zamir White is once again slated to lead the Raiders' backfield Sunday. Jacobs thus finishes the 2023 campaign with 233 carries for 805 yards and six TDs to go along with 37 catches (on 54 targets) for 296 yards in 13 games. The 2019 first-rounder played this past season on a one-year deal with Las Vegas worth $11.8 million that he signed this past August.

Logs another 'DNP'
Jacobs (quad) remained sidelined at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders' top back was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, with interim head coach Antonio Pierce indicating that he views Jacobs as a game-time decision for Sunday's season finale against Denver. If Jacobs -- who has missed three straight contests -- remains unavailable this weekend, Zamir White would once again lead the team's backfield in Week 18.
Jan 3, 2024
Listed as non-participant Wednesday
Jacobs (quadriceps) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Vic Tafur of The Athletic noted earlier Wednesday that interim coach Antonio Pierce views Jacobs as a game-time decision for Sunday's season finale against the Broncos. If, however, the running back ends up missing his fourth straight contest this weeknd, Zamir White would once again be slated to lead the Raiders' backfield in Week 18.
Dec 31, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Jacobs (quadriceps) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who was listed as a 'DNP' Wednesday through Friday, approached the contest listed as doubtful and now that it's been confirmed that he'll miss his third straight contest, Zamir White is once again slated to lead the Raiders backfield in Week 17. Jacobs will now target a potential return to action in the team's regular-season finale next weekend against the Broncos.
Dec 29, 2023
Doubtful for Sunday
Jacobs (quadriceps) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Colts, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was deemed a 'DNP' Wednesday through Friday and though his 'doubtful' designation suggests that he'll be sidelined this weekend, coach Antonio Pierce still considers the running back a game-time decision. "No need to rush it," Pierce said of Jacobs' status. "If he can go at one o'clock on Sunday, I'm happy with that." If, however, Jacobs is inactive versus Indianapolis, Zamir White would once again lead the Raiders' backfield in Week 17.
Dec 29, 2023
Likely game-time decision
Coach Antonio Pierce noted Friday that Jacobs (quadriceps) is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Colts, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who was listed as a 'DNP' in both Wednesday's walk-through and Thursday's practice, has one more chance to get some on-field work in ahead of Week 17 action, but either way it seems as though he's trending toward heading into the weekend with an official 'questionable' designation. If Jacobs is limited or out versus Indianapolis, Zamir White would once again be in line to see added backfield touches for the Raiders.
Dec 28, 2023
Idle for another practice
Jacobs (quadricep) was listed as a non-participant for Thursday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Though Tashan Reed of The Athletic relays that there's sentiment within the organization that Jacobs will be able to put an end to his two-game absence this weekend in Indianapolis, the running back hasn't taken any notable steps toward making that a reality. After managing one limited practice session in Week 16, he's now been listed as a non-participant for consecutive walkthroughs to begin Week 17 prep. Jacobs will still have another chance Friday to log some on-field work prior to Sunday's game against the Colts, but if he's unable to make enough progress in his recovery and misses a third straight game this weekend, Zamir White would once again have a clear path to a lead role out of the backfield.
Dec 27, 2023
Listed as 'DNP' in walk-through
Jacobs (quad) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
After being deemed a 'DNP' in Wednesday's walk-through, Jacobs now has two more chances to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts. If, however, the running back remains sidelined for a third straight game this weekend, Zamir White would once again be in line to lead the Raiders' backfield in Week 17.
Dec 25, 2023
Inactive for Monday's contest
Jacobs (quadricep/illness) is inactive for Monday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Raiders held out hope Jacobs might be able to play through the right quad injury he sustained in the team's Week 14 loss to the Vikings after listing him as questionable for Monday, but he didn't make quite enough progress leading up to the Week 16 game to give it a go. He'll thus miss his second straight game, paving the way for Zamir White to serve as the likely headliner for the Las Vegas rushing attack once again after he carried 17 times for 69 yards and a touchdown to go with three catches for 16 yards in the Raiders' 63-21 win over the Chargers in Week 15. Jacobs managed just one limited practice this week while nursing an illness in addition to the quad injury, so he'll presumably need to practice fully at some point during the upcoming week to have a chance at playing in the Raiders' Dec. 31 game in Indianapolis.
Dec 25, 2023
Appears unlikely to play Monday
Jacobs (quadricep/illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Chiefs, but he's been described as a "long shot" to play, a source tells Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Even though the Raiders had a longer turnaround for their Week 16 game after playing a Thursday night game Week 15, Rapoport suggests that Jacobs is in a similar position to a week earlier, when he ultimately sat out Las Vegas' 63-21 trouncing of the Chargers. Jacobs at least appeared to take a tangible step forward by managing one limited practice this week (on Friday) after failing to participate in walk-through sessions at any point leading up to last week's game, but he still looks like he'll require more time to recover from the quad issue as well as an illness he picked up a few days ago. Confirmation on Jacobs' status will arrive when Las Vegas releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Monday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but assuming he's out for a second straight week, the Raiders will likely turn to Zamir White as their lead option on the ground. Ameer Abdullah should function as the main change-of-pace back behind White, with Brandon Bolden representing a third option for the position group.
Dec 23, 2023
Status in question for Week 16
Jacobs (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Monday's game at Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was unable to practice before sitting out the Raiders' Week 15 win against the Chargers on Thursday Night Football due to a quad injury that he sustained four days earlier versus the Vikings. As Las Vegas reconvened for practice this Thursday, he managed just one limited session (Friday) during Week 16 prep while also dealing with an illness. Interim coach Antonio Pierce implied to Vic Tafur of The Athletic that because Monday's contest is a must-win situation, he expects "all the guys to play," even those that aren't healthy. Consequently, Jacobs may be trending toward a return to action, but if he's unable to do so, Zamir White likely would lead the team's backfield.
Dec 22, 2023
Limited and adds illness to injury
Jacobs (quadriceps/illness) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Friday's injury report was a mixed bag for Jacobs. On one hand, it was good to see him practicing in any capacity after he missed both last week's win over the Chargers and Thursday's practice. On the other hand, Jacobs is dealing with an illness on top of his quadriceps injury, further clouding his availability for Monday's game against the Chiefs. Coach Antonio Pierce said earlier in the week that he believes Jacobs will most likely be available come Monday, but Saturday's injury report will provide a more concrete estimation of the running back's chances of playing.
Dec 22, 2023
On the field Friday
Jacobs (quadricep) was present for practice Friday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs didn't practice Thursday, but his looming participation in Friday's session bodes well for his chances of suiting up Monday against the Chiefs. The Raiders' upcoming injury report is slated to clarify Jacobs' official participation level.
Dec 21, 2023
Not practicing Thursday
Jacobs (quadricep) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, interim head coach Antonio Pierce previously expressed optimism that Jacobs could return to action Monday against the Chiefs, noting that he thought the running back was close to playing in the Raiders' 63-21 win over the Chargers in Week 15. Still, with Jacobs not practicing Thursday, his status will need to be closely monitored as the week progresses. If Jacobs remains sidelined for a second straight game, second-year player Zamir White would likely serve as the Raiders' top option on the ground.
Dec 14, 2023
Inactive Thursday night
Jacobs (quadriceps) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was officially listed as questionable for the contest after being estimated as a non-participant in each of the Raiders' walk-throughs Monday through Wednesday, and on a short week he'll sit this one out and target a potential return to action Dec. 25 against the Chiefs. In his absence versus Los Angeles on Thursday, look for 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White to lead the Raiders' Week 15 backfield, with Ameer Abdullah also in the mix for added touches, particularly in passing situations.
Dec 14, 2023
Not expected to play Thursday
Jacobs (quad) isn't expected to play Thursday night against the Chargers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs approached the contest listed as questionable after being estimated as a non-participant in each of the Raiders' walk-throughs Monday through Wednesday, but it appears as though he will be sidelined versus Los Angeles. Official confirmation of his Week 15 status will arrive once inactives are posted ahead of Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but assuming Jacobs is deemed unavailable, Zamir White would be in line to start in his place, with Ameer Abdullah also in the mix.
Dec 14, 2023
Status in doubt for Thursday's game
Jacobs (quadricep) remains listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Chargers, but his status for the contest is considered "very much in doubt," Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is taking a designation into the contest after he was listed as a non-participant on all three of the Raiders' Week 15 practice reports, though the team merely held a walk-through sessions due to the quick turnaround from Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Vikings. Late in that game, Jacobs appeared to sustain the quad injury, and he ultimately didn't check back into the contest after the Raiders initially deemed him questionable to return. Rapoport suggests that Jacobs won't be cleared to suit up Thursday if the Raiders believe he's at risk of making his injury worse by playing, so a decision on his status may hinge on how he looks during a pregame warmup. Official word on Jacobs' availability (or lack thereof) should arrive when the Raiders release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but if Jacobs is forced to miss his first game of the season, the Raiders would likely lean heavily on a combination of Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah out of the backfield.
Dec 13, 2023
Questionable for Thursday
Jacobs (quad) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders conducted walk-throughs Monday through Wednesday, with Jacobs estimated as a non-participant in each case. That said, if the running back ends up being available to face Los Angeles, coach Antonio Pierce noted earlier Wednesday that "if Josh Jacobs is ready to go, this is the Josh Jacobs Show,"Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Ideally, added context with regard to Jacobs' Week 15 status will arrive prior to Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he's limited or out, Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah would be next in line for added backfield touches.
Dec 13, 2023
Listed as non-participant Tuesday
Jacobs (quad) was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday's walk-through.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was also deemed a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, with added context regarding the running back's chances of suiting up Thursday night against the Chargers slated to arrive via Wednesday's injury report. If Jacobs is limited or out versus Los Angeles, Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah would be next in line for added touches in the Raiders' Week 15 backfield.
Dec 12, 2023
Listed as limited
Jacobs (quad) was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders conducted walk-through sessions Monday and Tuesday to begin Week 15 prep, but Jacobs would have had his reps managed had the team held traditional practices. Las Vegas will release its final injury report Wednesday, and if Jacobs is once again a limited participant, he could end up taking a questionable designation into Thursday's game against the Chargers. Jacobs exited this past Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Vikings in the fourth quarter due to the knee issue and finished the day with 13 carries for 34 yards and two receptions for 16 yards.
Dec 11, 2023
Listed as non-participant Monday
Jacobs was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate due to a quad issue.
ANALYSIS
When Jacobs exited Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Vikings, his departure was attributed to a knee injury. In any case, the running back's listed quad concern makes his status worth tracking closely as Thursday night's game against the Chargers approaches. If Jacobs is unavailable for the contest or limited at all, Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah would be next in line for added backfield touches for the Raiders in Week 15.
Dec 10, 2023
Hurts knee in Week 14
Jacobs sustained a knee injury during Sunday's game versus the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was spotted being evaluated by Raiders trainers in the fourth quarter and then attempted to walk it off while limping and grabbing at his leg before the Raiders made the announcement that he was questionable to return. If he's unable to do so, he'll finish Week 14 with 13 carries for 34 yards and two catches (on two targets) for 16 yards. Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White and Brandon Bolden currently are the healthy running backs on Las Vegas' active roster.
Nov 26, 2023
Big production in losing effort
Jacobs took 20 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown while catching four of six targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs put his team up 14-0 over the visiting Chiefs when he ripped off a 63-yard run in the opening moments of the second quarter for his longest touchdown this season. The Raiders' offense struggled to do much the rest of the way en route to its seventh loss, but the team's star back still finished with a strong fantasy line for managers Sunday. After a slow start to the year following a contract dispute, Jacobs' big rushing day brings his season totals up to 220/771/6 as Las Vegas enters its bye. Jacobs and the Raiders will resume play in Week 14 against Minnesota on Dec. 10.
Nov 19, 2023
Heavy workload in Week 11 loss
Jacobs rushed 14 times for 39 yards and secured his only target for 12 yards in the Raiders' 20-13 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the only Raiders back to log a carry, but unlike the first two games of head coach Antonio Pierce's interim tenure when the team enjoyed a game script favorable to the run game, the situation predictably shifted some toward the air attack against Miami. Jacobs also found running room at a premium, and the running game could once again play second fiddle in a Week 12 home matchup versus the Chiefs.
Nov 12, 2023
Breaks century mark on 27 totes
Jacobs finished with 27 carries for 116 yards while corralling both of his targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 16-12 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs literally carried the offense to victory in Sunday's low-scoring affair, finishing with over 25 carries for the second week in a row. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce's committment to running has led to excellence in the form of consecutive wins for the now 5-5 Raiders. This is great news for Jacobs' fantasy managers, as his gaudy workload is likely to stick so long as Las Vegas keeps stacking wins. The only risk for the star tailback heading into next Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins would be a blowout in favor of Miami, which could result in fewer carries for Jacobs if the visiting Raiders fall behind big to Miami's fast-paced attack.
Nov 5, 2023
Star of blowout victory
Jacobs took 26 carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns and was not targeted as a passer in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs stepped up with his best rushing line of the season in Las Vegas' first game under interim head coach Antonio Pierce on Sunday. The Raiders' new coaching staff committed to the run game en route to a lopsided win, resulting in the most carries for Jacobs through nine games this season. The Alabama product finished the contest without a target for the first time this year, but that likely had more to do with the one-sided nature of Sunday's result. Jacobs will look to carry the momentum from his monster performance into next week's matchup against the Jets on Sunday Night Football.
Oct 31, 2023
Plays well despite QB's struggles
Jacobs rushed 15 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 26-14 loss to the Lions. He also caught two of four targets for 27 yards.
ANALYSIS
After the Lions scored the game's first nine points, Jacobs took over on the Raiders' second-quarter touchdown drive, rushing six times for 38 yards on the possession, including a three-yard touchdown run to get Vegas on the board. Jacobs averaged 4.9 YPC last season, but his 4.1 YPC Monday was actually his best single-game mark of 2023, as he came in averaging an ugly 2.9 YPC through seven games. With Jimmy Garoppolo throwing for just 126 yards in his return from a back injury, the Raiders failed to take advantage of Jacobs' solid efficiency, and the running back actually led the team in receiving yards as well. Jacobs will look to build off this effort in Week 9 against the 2-6 Giants.
Oct 22, 2023
Held in check Sunday
Jacobs carried the ball 11 times for 35 yards and caught one of four targets for six yards in Sunday's 30-12 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
With Brian Hoyer getting the start at quarterback in place of Jimmy Garoppolo (back), Chicago's defense showed no fear of the Las Vegas passing game and made sure Jacobs wasn't going to beat them instead. Last season's rushing champ has yet to top 77 yards on the ground in a game this season, and that's unlikely to change in Week 8 against a Lions defense that's been among the stingiest in the league against the run in 2023.
Oct 15, 2023
Lots of work in win
Jacobs rushed 25 times for 77 yards and caught two of five targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 21-17 win over New England.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs finished with 20-plus carries for the second consecutive week but was unable to replicate last week's touchdown. Las Vegas' workhorse still hasn't broken the four yards per carry mark in any game this season, softening his fantasy impact through six weeks. Jacobs will continue to receive all the touches he can handle despite getting off to a slow start, especially if starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (back) is unable to suit up for next Sunday's road game against Chicago.
Oct 10, 2023
Grinds for 89 yards plus TD
Jacobs rushed 20 times for 69 yards and a touchdown while catching all five of his targets for 20 yards in Monday's 17-13 win over Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs carried Las Vegas' offense with teammate Davante Adams (shoulder) playing at less than 100 percent Monday. The bruising back reached 25 combined touches for the second week in a row, resulting in consecutive games with trips to the end zone. The 25-year-old has yet to average four yards per carry in any game so far, but he is beginning to show life following an underwhelming start to the campaign. Jacobs will look to extend his touchdown streak to three games when the Raiders host the Patriots on Sunday.
Oct 1, 2023
Big day as pass catcher
Jacobs rushed the ball 17 times for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Chargers. He added eight receptions on 11 targets for 81 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the focal point of the offense to begin the game as the Raiders tried to ease rookie Aidan O'Connell into his first NFL start. However, he was unable to find much room on the ground -- he entered halftime with eight carries for 25 yards -- and game script forced Las Vegas to the air. Given that combination, the majority of Jacobs' production came as a receiver, highlighted by three gains of more than 10 yards. Jacobs also found the end zone for the first time this season with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to close the team's deficit to one score. While it wasn't the most efficient performance, Sunday's effort was by far his best performance of the campaign.
Sep 25, 2023
Sluggish start continues
Jacobs rushed 17 times for 62 yards and caught three of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-18 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' early struggles continue after posting his third inefficient, scoreless outing in three weeks to begin the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old still maintained his every-down role, commanding 100 percent of Las Vegas' running back carries Sunday. Jacobs got off to a similarly-sluggish start in 2022, averaging just 83.7 total yards with no scores in three games before going off for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4. That's not to say he will suddenly turn things around against the Chargers next Sunday, rather a reminder for fantasy managers to remain patient early in the season. That said, if there was ever an ideal opponent to get right against, it would likely be this iteration of the Chargers' defense that has allowed 450.7 yards per game this year.
Sep 17, 2023
Receiving work saves day
Jacobs rushed the ball nine times for -2 yards in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Bills. He added five receptions on six targets for 51 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was scripted out of the game early on from a rushing perspective, though he wasn't at all effective with the ball in his hands as six of his nine rushes went for zero or negative yards. He found more success as a pass catcher, an area of the game he has proven capable of consistently contributing across the last two seasons. Even with his work as a pass catcher covering up his deficiencies on the ground, Jacobs' struggles through two games have to be noted as he's managed only 46 yards on 28 carries.
Sep 10, 2023
Met with resistance Sunday
Jacobs carried the ball 19 times for 48 yards and no touchdowns while catching two of his three targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs ran into the brick wall that was Denver's defensive front on Sunday. On a positive note, the star back dominated the rushing touches, with only one other back (Zamir White) receiving a carry. Despite the poor production to kick off the season, fantasy managers can feel good about Jacobs' usage heading into next week's matchup against the Bills.
Sep 8, 2023
Hoping for full Week 1 workload
Jacobs believes he's ready to take on a full workload in Week 1 against the Broncos on Sunday but acknowledged that whether he gets the chance to do so will be up to the coaching staff, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs held out for most of the offseason in hopes of a long-term deal before ultimately rejoining the Raiders in late August on a one-year pact. The NFL's 2022 rushing leader believes missing training camp and preseason has left him fresh to hit the ground running, but the Raiders may not think he's fully up to speed yet and could thus give Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah or Brandon Bolden more opportunities at Jacobs' expense in the season opener. Jacobs added that a personal goal for him in 2023 is to score a receiving touchdown, as none of his 160 career catches up to this point have wound up in the end zone.
Aug 31, 2023
Returns to practice
Jacobs practiced Wednesday for the first time since last season, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs and the Raiders reached an agreement over the weekend to pay the running back about $1.7 million more than he would've made under the franchise tag. He says he's happy with the arrangement and doesn't harbor any hard feelings toward GM Dave Ziegler or the Raiders organization. The shaky depth behind him combined with last year's huge numbers suggest Jacobs is headed for another busy season, starting with a Week 1 trip to Denver for a 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday kickoff.
Aug 26, 2023
Agrees to new deal
Jacobs and the Raiders have agreed to terms on an upgraded one-year contract worth up to $12 million, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Pelissero, the base value of Jacobs' new deal is $11.8 million, up from from the $10.091 million franchise tag the running back hadn't yet signed. Given the timing of the agreement, Jacobs should have ample time to prepare for the Raiders' season opener against the Broncos, a game in which the 2019 first-rounder is in line to reprise his role as the team's lead back, with Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden in reserve.
Aug 23, 2023
No trade in the works
The Raiders haven't shown any interest in trading Jacobs, who has yet to sign his $10.091 million franchise tag with the team,Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Pelissero, at this stage there's nothing imminent in terms of getting the star running back on to the field, and until there's added clarity on that front, Jacobs' Week 1 status remains to be determined. That said, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal previously reported that Jacobs is expected to report to the Raiders before the team's season opener, but coach Josh McDaniels did acknowledge earlier this week that the closer things linger leading up to Week 1 without Jacobs reporting, the more the 2019 first-rounder's early-season production could potentially be affected. In the event that Jacobs isn't available or is eased into action out of the gate, Zamir White would be in line see added work out of Las Vegas' backfield.
Aug 21, 2023
Expected to report before Week 1
Jacobs is expected to report to the Raiders before their season opener in three weeks, multiple league sources told Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels when asked Sunday did not have an update on the situation.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs did not report to training camp, and there have been almost no reports on his status or any contract talks. Because he hasn't yet signed his franchise tag, the team hasn't been able to fine him for practice absences. That gives Jacobs, who led the league in rushing and yards from scrimmage last season, leverage to hold out until Week 1 before he starts facing significant financial penalties. Based on Bonsignore's report, Jacobs intends to end his holdout just before the regular season begins. In that scenario, it's not clear if he'll be in shape and ready to play right away, however. If Jacobs faces any limitations to begin the 2023 campaign, Zamir White would likely see increased work out of the backfield.
Jul 24, 2023
Won't report for training camp
Jacobs will not report to training camp for the Raiders and was spotted on a flight out of Las Vegas on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who has yet to sign his franchise tender, intends to hold out of training camp beginning Tuesday. He and the Raiders failed to reach agreement on a long-term contract by last Monday's deadline, and because he hasn't yet signed his franchise tag, the team will not be able to fine him for practice absences. That gives Jacobs, who led the league in rushing and yards from scrimmage last season, leverage to hold out until Week 1 before he starts facing significant financial penalties. To call the 2019 first-round integral to Las Vegas' offense would be an understatement, and the team will need to divvy first-team reps between Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden until he returns to the practice field.
Jul 17, 2023
No deal, may not report for camp
Jacobs and the Raiders failed to reach agreement on a multi-year contract prior to the deadline Monday at 4 p.m. ET, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is joined by Giants RB Saquon Barkley and Cowboys RB Tony Pollard, neither of whom signed a contract before the Monday deadline for franchise-tagged players. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Jacobs is not expected to report for the start of training camp with the rest of his teammates. The Raiders can't fine him for that unless he signs the franchise tag, which means Jacobs has until Week 1 to report before he starts missing out on large payments (his game checks for a $10.1 million franchise tag). The 25-year-old led the NFL in rushing and scrimmage yards last season, setting career highs in a slew of categories in his fourth straight year as the Raiders' lead runner. The team doesn't have great options behind Jacobs, as their only other two RBs with even 50 career NFL carries are both veterans who mostly play on passing downs and special teams (Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden). 2022 fourth-round pick Zamir White might be the next man up for carries between the tackles.

Not at mandatory minicamp
Jacobs hasn't signed his franchise tender and is ineligible for mandatory minicamp, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels didn't appear to be too concerned with the situation, saying he respects the process and is looking forward to seeing Jacobs in July when the deadline to sign the franchise tag expires. After back-to-back mediocre seasons, the 2019 first-round pick had a resurgent 2022 campaign, totaling career highs in rushing attempts (340), rushing yards (1,653) and receiving yards (400).
May 25, 2023
Hasn't signed tag
Jacobs hasn't signed his franchise tender and remains ineligible for OTA practices, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs presumably wants a long-term contract before the July 17 deadline and hasn't commented on what he'll do if that doesn't happen. He's coming off the best season of his career and is the leader of an otherwise thin backfield, with Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden the best bets to take first-team snaps while Jacobs is absent.
Apr 17, 2023
To skip voluntary workouts
Jacobs isn't slated to participate in the initial phase of the Raiders' offseason voluntary workouts,Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that Jacobs has yet to sign his franchise tag tender with Las Vegas, it's no surprise that the running back won't participate in the opening of the team's offseason program. The two sides have until July 17 to come to terms on a new deal, but if that doesn't occur, Jacobs would be in line to earn a fully guaranteed $10.06 million in 2023. Jacobs, who the Raiders selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, is coming off a career-best 2022 season in which he led the league with 1,653 rushing yards. Assuming the 25-year-old eventually either gets an extension or signs his franchise tag tender, Jacobs will once be on track to remain the clear-cut top option in a backfield that currently also includes Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White, Brandon Bolden and Brittain Brown.
Mar 6, 2023
Officially tagged by Raiders
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders have assigned the franchise tag to Jacobs.
ANALYSIS
This was the expectation all along, as the tag keeps Jacobs from hitting the open market next week and allows the two sides to keep talking for the next four months in hopes of coming to terms on a multi-year deal. Jacobs is coming off a career year where he rushed 340 times for a league-high 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 400 receiving yards on 53 catches. Jacobs should again be a fantasy difference-maker in 2023.
Mar 3, 2023
Likely to get the franchise tag
The Raiders plan to place the franchise tag on Jacobs if the sides can't reach a long-term deal by Tuesday's deadline, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs always seemed unlikely to leave Las Vegas after leading the league in rushing in his first season under coach Josh McDaniels. The Raiders can make him try and prove it again on a one-year, fully-guaranteed tag if they don't feel comfortable making Jacobs one of the highest-paid running backs in the league. No matter what happens, it sounds like Jacobs will remain with the Raiders for 2023.

Hopes to re-sign in Vegas
Jacobs told reporters Monday that he hopes to re-sign with the Raiders as a free agent this offseason after rushing for a league-high 1,653 yards in the regular season, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was a workhorse in his fourth NFL season, producing the league-high 1,653 rushing yards on 340 carries and scoring 12 touchdowns. The Raiders didn't pick up the 2019 first-round draft pick's fifth-year option prior to the season, resulting in Jacobs becoming a free agent. After Jacobs responded with his best campaign as a pro, there's likely to be mutual interest between him and the Raiders, though Jacobs should have plenty of other suitors in free agency as well.
Jan 7, 2023
Stymied on 17 carries
Jacobs rushed the ball 17 times for 45 yards in Saturday's 31-13 loss to the Chiefs. He added two receptions for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs accounted for 17 of 18 carries by Las Vegas running backs, but he struggled to find room to run. His longest gain of the day went for 12 yards, though he still managed only 2.6 yards per carry. Jacobs ends the season with 1,653 rushing yards, which will likely be good enough to lead the league. He also chipped in 53 receptions for 400 yards while finding the end zone a total of 12 times. Jacobs is set to become a free agent and will be one of the top available running backs.
Jan 7, 2023
Active versus Kansas City
Jacobs (hip/oblique/personal) is listed as active for Saturday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the running back didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday while spending time in Tulsa with his father, who had emergency heart surgery, per sources. However, the NFL's leading rusher will be available versus Kansas City and assuming no setbacks with the hip and oblique issues he's managed of late, Jacobs should lead the Raiders' Week 18 backfield. If he ends up limited at all, Zamir White, Brandon Bolden and Ameer Abdullah would be candidates to log added snaps in the 6-10 team's season finale.
Jan 7, 2023
Slated to play Saturday
Jacobs (hip/oblique/personal) is in line to play Saturday against the Chiefs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday or Thursday while spending time in Tulsa with his father, who had emergency heart surgery per sources, the Raiders listed the running back (who has been managing hip and oblique injuries) as questionable for the contest, but per Pelissero, Jacobs is slated to be available versus Kansas City. Official confirmation of Jacobs' Week 18 status will arrive upon the release of the team's inactives ahead of Saturday's 4:30 ET kickoff.
Jan 5, 2023
Questionable for Week 18
Jacobs (hip/oblique/personal) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Chiefs after not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The team's top running back -- who is dealing with hip and oblique issues -- is the only player the Raiders list as questionable for the contest, while linebacker Darien Butler (concussion) has been ruled out. Jacobs' status is thus worth monitoring closely as Saturday's 4:30 ET kickoff approaches, but if he's out or limited this weekend, some combo of Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White would be in line to log added Week 18 backfield snaps for Las Vegas.
Jan 5, 2023
Misses another practice
Jacobs (hip) wasn't on the field for the open portion of Thursday's practice, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has proven on prior occasions this season that he doesn't require much practice time, if any, to prepare for a given game, but he may still be at risk of missing his first game of the season Saturday against the Chiefs while he battles a nagging hip injury. Not only does Jacobs have the disadvantage of playing on a short week, but the 6-10 Raiders don't have anything at stake Saturday beyond perhaps denying a division rival the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC playoffs. The Raiders will wait until after Thursday's practice concludes before likely handing Jacobs a designation for the Week 18 contest, if he isn't ruled out two days in advance of the game. Even if Jacobs ends up being cleared ahead of Saturday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff, he won't necessarily be a safe bet to handle his usual high-volume role out of the Las Vegas backfield.
Jan 4, 2023
Misses Wednesday's walk-through
Jacobs (hip/oblique) didn't participate in the Wednesday's walk-through practice, due to what Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site referred to as a personal day.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, so the running back will presumably need to practice fully Thursday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Saturday's game against the Chiefs. In the Raiders' 37-34 overtime loss to the 49ers in Week 17, Jacobs carried 17 times for 69 yards and a touchdown and caught four of five targets for 26 yards, while recording a 67 percent snap share.
Jan 3, 2023
Limited on estimated report
Jacobs (hip/oblique) was listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs missed some time this past Sunday against the 49ers due to a hip injury, which, along with an oblique issue, would have capped his reps Tuesday if the Raiders had held a session. The fourth-year pro will have two more opportunities to get back to full before the team potentially gives him a designation ahead of Saturday's scheduled 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 1, 2023
Punches in 12th rushing TD
Jacobs carried the ball 17 times for 69 yards and a touchdown and caught four of five targets for 26 receiving yards in Sunday's 37-34 overtime loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs bounced back from his worst rushing performance of the season in Week 16 (2.9 YPC) with a solid effort and his 12th rushing touchdown. The bruising back had to leave the game in the first half with a hip injury, but he was able to return and finish the game without any limitations. Assuming good health, Jacobs will finish his impressive 2022 campaign against the Chiefs on Sunday, who he torched for 154 rushing yards and a score back in Week 5.
Dec 24, 2022
Musters 50 yards from scrimmage
Jacobs tallied 15 carries for 44 yards and caught his only target for six yards during Saturday's 13-10 loss at Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
In a game in which Jacobs surpassed 1,500 yards on the ground for the season on his second carry, he ultimately finished with his second-lowest rushing total of the campaign (previously, he had 43 yards Week 8 in New Orleans). He nearly salvaged his day overall with a 36-yard catch-and-run late in the third quarter, but the play was called back by a Foster Moreau face mask penalty. Jacobs also didn't score a touchdown for the second consecutive contest and eighth time in 15 appearances. He may have a tough time bouncing back Week 17 against the 49ers' top-ranked run defense.
Dec 18, 2022
Tops 100 scrimmage yards again
Jacobs carried the ball 22 times for 93 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
New England's defense did its best to contain Jacobs and managed to keep him out of the end zone for the first time since Week 11, but the running back still topped 100 scrimmage yards for the sixth straight game. Jacobs remains on course for his first career rushing crown, sitting at 1,495 yards -- almost 200 more than Derrick Henry -- heading into a Week 16 trip to Pittsburgh.
Dec 18, 2022
Active as expected Sunday
Jacobs (hand/quadriceps) is active for Sunday's Week 15 clash against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
As has been the case on numerous occasions during the second half of the season, Jacobs will blow through his questionable designation to suit up and presumably handle his typically robust, diverse role versus New England. Jacobs has logged at least 21 carries in five straight games and multiple receptions in 11 consecutive contests, but he could be in for especially tough sledding on the ground against a Patriots defense that's allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards per road game (92.3).
Dec 17, 2022
Plans to play Sunday
Jacobs (hand/quad), who is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, plans to play in the contest, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back, who was limited in practice this past week, injured his right pinkie finger during Week 14 action. Assuming he's active for Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff -- something worth confirming -- Jacobs indicated that the plan to manage the issue is to "probably cast it a little bit, wrap it up and then see how it goes from there." To date, the 2019 first-rounder has maintained a high-volume role while leading the Raiders' backfield, and we suspect that he'll log as much work as he can handle Sunday, with his potential workload hinging on how his hand/finger respond to in-game contact. If Jacobs ends up limited at all or suffers any setbacks versus New England, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White would be candidates to log added snaps.
Dec 16, 2022
Listed as questionable for Sunday
Jacobs (quad/hand) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has yet to miss a game this season, but his status will nonetheless be worth confirming ahead of Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff. "He's had a good week. We've been smart about him in general and obviously he's played a lot of snaps for us and done a lot of things in terms of being physical," coach Josh McDaniels noted of the Raiders' top running back Friday. "So, we'll make a good choice on that as well and if there's something that we need to limit, then we'll try to. But right now, he looks like he's going to be able to handle that." With McDaniels' comments in mind, we suspect that Jacobs will be available this weekend, a notion echoed by the running back, who said he plans on playing, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com.
Dec 15, 2022
Remains limited Thursday
Jacobs (quadriceps/hand) remained limited at practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back limited practice sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Jacobs will probably have to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a Week 15 injury designation. That said, there's been nothing to suggest that the Raiders' top back (who has been listed as questionable in advance of his team's last three games) won't continue to tough things out this Sunday against the Patriots.
Dec 14, 2022
Limited practice Wednesday
Jacobs (quad/hand) was limited at practice Wednesday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs managed quad and calf issues ahead of Week 14 action and now he's dealing with a hand injury that he suffered in the Raiders' 17-16 loss to the Rams last Thursday. That said, we'd be surprised if Las Vegas' lead back isn't on the field versus the Patriots this weekend, but unless Jacobs practices fully by Friday, chances are he'll approach the contest with a Week 15 injury designation.
Dec 9, 2022
Slated to undergo tests on finger
Jacobs is set to undergo tests on his injured pinkie finger, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The report adds that X-Rays the running back had during Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Rams were negative and that Jacobs was able to play through his injury after his finger was popped back into place. In any case, with the Raiders on a short week, Jacobs has some added healing time ahead of the team's Dec. 18 contest against the Patriots.
Dec 8, 2022
Another hefty workload in loss
Jacobs rushed 27 times for 99 yards and a touchdown while securing both targets for 15 yards in the Raiders' 17-16 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs opened the game in trademark fashion with a one-yard touchdown run to cap off a 12-play, 75-yard march on the Raiders' first possession. However, yards were much more at a premium throughout the rest of the game, and Jacobs also missed some time tending to a hand injury early in the second half that seemed to continue to affect him whenever he attempted to stiff-arm defenders. The star back, who saw his streak of 100-yard games narrowly stopped at three, will now get some much-needed extra rest before a Week 15 home showdown versus the Patriots.
Dec 8, 2022
Returns to action
Jacobs (hand) returned to Thursday's game against the Rams, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was spotted in the locker getting X-rays after suffering the injury, but he ultimately missed one only series. He was seen shaking his hand due to apparent discomfort shortly after retaking the field but did not exit the game and has continued to serve as the Raiders' lead back.
Dec 8, 2022
Suffers hand injury
Jacobs is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Rams due to a hand injury.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs ripped off a 15-yard run early in the third quarter but landed hard on his arm and jammed his hand in the turf. He was seen on the sideline having his hand taped and was later spotted heading into the locker room to get X-rays. Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah figure to fill in while Jacobs remains sidelined.
Dec 8, 2022
Suits up Thursday
Jacobs (quadriceps/calf) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Rams, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders' top RB approached the contest listed as questionable, as was the case prior to the team's past two games, but he'll give it a go once again and should continue to handle to bulk of Las Vegas' backfield touches Thursday in the absence of any in-game setbacks, with Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White, Brandon Bolden and Brittain Brown on hand in reserve. Over his last two games, Jacobs (who leads the NFL with 1,303 rushing yards through 12 outings) racked up a fantasy-friendly total of 59 carries for 373 yards and three TDs, to go along with eight catches for 80 yards in that span.
Dec 8, 2022
On track to play Thursday
Jacobs (quadriceps/calf), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Rams, is expected to play, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While taking questionable designations into both of the Raiders' past two games, Jacobs has not only avoided the inactive list, but he's come through with two of his best performances of the season while taking on massive workloads. In wins over the Seahawks and Chargers, Jacobs has carried 59 times for 373 yards (6.3 average) to go with eight receptions for 80 yards while finding the end zone three times. Though he's still bothered by the pair of injuries, Jacobs looks on track to be cleared once again when the Raiders release their inactive list 90 minutes before the team's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Given that the Raiders are sizable favorites against the undermanned Rams and are playing on a short week, head coach Josh McDaniels could look to lighten Jacobs' snap count a bit to ensure he's healthy heading into the final four games of the regular season.
Dec 7, 2022
Listed as questionable again
Jacobs (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Rams, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs seems likely to play, considering he was listed as questionable last week and ultimately took 26 carries for 144 yards in a win over the Chargers on Sunday. A short week isn't ideal, but the Raiders did list him as a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday. Inactives will be released around 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, with Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah most the best bets to pick up RB snaps/touches for the Raiders if Jacobs is held out.
Dec 6, 2022
Limited again
Jacobs (quadriceps) was again listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice-report, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders again held a walk-through in favor of an actual practice, so his limited participation is just an estimate. Given his heavy workload over the past four games and the Rams' short week, it is not surprising that Las Vegas is opting to err on the side of caution here. While there is no real worry at this point to think his Week 14 status is in any danger, it will be worth monitoring his status on the team's final injury report Wednesday.
Dec 5, 2022
Listed as limited on estimate
Jacobs (quadriceps/calf) was a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders didn't practice Monday, so the report was merely an estimate. Jacobs has totaled 108 touches over his past four games, so his appearance on the injury report can likely be attributed to rest. He'll have two more opportunities to log a full practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Thursday's matchup against the Rams, but at this point, there doesn't appear to be any indication that Jacobs is in danger of missing Week 14.
Dec 4, 2022
Another huge performance
Jacobs carried the ball 26 times for 144 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Chargers, He also caught both his targets for six yards.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight week, Jacobs came into the game with a calf injury that made it uncertain if he would even play, and for the second week he looked unbothered by the issue as he shredded a run defense that seemed helpless to stop him. Jacobs has posted three straight 100-yard performances and six in his last nine games, a surge that has moved him into the lead for the NFL rushing crown with 1,303 yards on the season. He could well be listed as questionable again due to a quick turnaround before Thursday's game against the Rams, but Jacobs' current form will make him extremely hard to fade.
Dec 4, 2022
Active in Week 13
Jacobs (calf) is active for Sunday's Week 13 clash against the Chargers, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs practiced in limited fashion throughout the week to head into the weekend with a questionable designation, a repeat of the scenario ahead of the Week 12 overtime win over the Seahawks that the star running back sealed with an 86-yard touchdown run. News had been trending up on Jacobs heading into Sunday, and reports that he was in line to suit up have now evolved into official active status. Thus, Jacobs should be in line for his usual robust workload against a Chargers defense allowing 162.7 rushing yards per road contest.
Dec 4, 2022
In line to play Sunday
Jacobs (calf), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, is on track to play, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network previously relayed that Jacobs was set to be evaluated in a pregame warmup before the Raiders decided on his status, and Schefter's latest report would seem to indicate that the running back checked out well upon reporting to the stadium Sunday. Jacobs won't be officially cleared until the Raiders release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but assuming he's good to go, expect the 24-year-old to handle his usual high-volume role out of the Las Vegas backfield. Despite aggravating his left calf strain in the fourth quarter of last week's game against the Seahawks, Jacobs proceeded to return to the game and delivered a game-winning 86-yard touchdown run in the 40-34 overtime win. He finished the day with two scores and a career-high 303 total yards from scrimmage.
Dec 4, 2022
Considered game-time call
Jacobs (calf) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Chargers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is nursing a left calf strain sustained during Week 12's overtime 40-34 win against the Seahawks, in which he compiled 303 scrimmage yards and two scores, including a game-winning 86-yard touchdown run. It appears that Jacobs' status for Week 13 will come down to his pre-game workout, an unideal situation for fantasy managers considering the 4:25 p.m ET kickoff window for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers. Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah would stand to handle increased work if Jacobs ends up sidelined or limited.
Dec 2, 2022
Questionable for Sunday's game
Jacobs (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Changers after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, Jacobs aggravated a left calf injury that he carried into Week 12 action late in regulation time during the Raiders' 40-34 OT win over the Seahawks this past Sunday. Since then, Jacobs -- who racked up 33 carries for 229 yards and two TDs to go along with six catches for 74 yards versus Seattle -- has been limited at practice, which suggests that he has a chance to continue to play through his calf issue this weekend. With the Raiders kicking off at 4:25 ET on Sunday, ideally added context regarding Jacobs' status will will arrive prior to the early slate of Week 13 contests. If Jacobs is out or limited versus Los Angeles, however, Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah would likely be next in line for added backfield touches.
Dec 1, 2022
Limited practice Thursday
Jacobs (calf) was limited at practice Thursday, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Back-to-back limited listings bode well for Jacobs' chances of being available for this weekend's game against the Chargers. However, the Raiders' top back will probably need to log a full practice Friday in order to avoid approaching Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET contest minus a Week 13 injury designation.
Nov 30, 2022
Listed as limited on practice estimate
Jacobs (calf) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Paul Gutierrez of ESPN previous relayed that after Jacobs tweaked his left calf in a non-contact drill during last Friday's practice, the running back wasn't sure if he'd play Sunday against the Seahawks until about two hours before kickoff. Jacobs ended up giving it a go and racked up 33 carries for 229 yards and two touchdowns to go along with six catches for 74 yards in his team's 40-34 overtime win. However, given that Jacobs aggravated his injury late in regulation, his status is now worth monitoring closely as this weekend's game against the Chargers approaches. Per Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site, if Jacobs is out or limited versus Los Angeles, Zamir White could be the next man up in Las Vegas' Week 13 backfield.
Nov 29, 2022
Looking iffy for Week 13
Jacobs aggravated a calf strain late in Sunday's 40-34 overtime win over the Seahawks and isn't expected to practice much over the next few days, clouding him status for the Raiders' Week 13 game against the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs initially injured his calf in practice last Friday, resulting in him being listed as questionable heading into the past weekend. Though he was at risk of sitting out against Seattle, Jacobs suited up and proceeded to deliver the best performance of his career. Even though he missed the final four-plus minutes of the fourth quarter, he returned for overtime and delivered a game-winning 86-yard touchdown run, capping off an afternoon in which he amassed 303 yards from scrimmage and two scores on 39 touches (33 carries, six receptions). The adrenaline may have been enough for Jacobs to play through the calf issue against Seattle, but he'll need to continue to show improvement while receiving around-the-clock treatment on the injury to guarantee his availability for the Raiders' Week 13 contest.
Nov 27, 2022
Caps huge day with winning TD
Jacobs carried the ball 33 times for 229 yards and two touchdowns while catching six of seven targets for 74 yards in Sunday's 40-34 overtime win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Despite missing sidelined for the final four-plus minutes of the fourth quarter while being checked out for a possible calf injury, Jacobs returned to action in OT and put an exclamation mark on a career-best performance by rumbling 86 yards for the game-winning TD. As if his production on the ground wasn't enough, the running back also tied Davante Adams for the team lead in receiving yards. Jacobs has recorded five games with triple-digit rushing yards and three with multiple rushing touchdowns in the Raiders' last eight contests, and he figures to post big numbers again in Week 13 against a Chargers defense that's among the league's worst against the run.
Nov 27, 2022
Back in for OT
Jacobs (calf) returned for overtime in Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Case Keefer of the Las Vegas Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was deemed questionable to return in the fourth quarter but he's gutting it out with the game on the line. Prior to aggravating the calf injury, Jacobs compiled nearly 200 scrimmage yards and a touchdown, and he surpassed that milestone with a 15-yard run in overtime.
Nov 27, 2022
Injured late in terrific game
Jacobs (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was injured in the fourth quarter. This injury is presumably linked to the calf injury he was nursing coming into the game. Prior to getting hurt, Jacobs seemed healthy, rushing 28 times for 120 yards and a touchdown while catching all six of his targets for 74 yards.
Nov 27, 2022
Suits up Sunday
Jacobs (calf) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday, was added to the Raiders' injury report Friday after being limited in practice due to a calf issue. He'll give it a go Sunday, and barring any in-game setbacks, he should continue to lead his team's backfield in Week 12, with Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden and Zamir White available to handle complementary/change-of-pace snaps. Through 10 games to date, Jacobs has handled the bulk of his team's rushing duties, having logged 183 carries for 930 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 34 catches for 251 yards in that span.
Nov 27, 2022
Expected to play Sunday
Jacobs (calf) is expected to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is officially listed as questionable for Week 12, but barring any pre-game setbacks it appears the Raiders expect the starting running back to be active. He practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday, but was then limited with a calf issue Friday. The official word on Jacobs' status will come when Las Vegas' inactives are announced prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff time.
Nov 25, 2022
Added to injury report
Jacobs (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks after logging a limited practice Friday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday, with the running back's addition to the injury report Friday making his status worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff. Ideally, added context with regard to Jacobs' Week 12 status will arrive before the early wave of kickoffs this weekend, but if Jacobs is limited or out versus Seattle, added backfield snaps would be available for some combination of Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden, Brittain Brown and Zamir White.
Nov 20, 2022
Racks up 160 total yards
Jacobs rushed the ball 24 times for 109 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Broncos. He added three receptions on four targets for 51 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the only Raider to record a rushing attempt and he recorded his highest number of carries since Week 4. He was largely held in check on the ground aside from a 15-yard carry early in the third quarter, but his biggest play of the day late in the final quarter on a 43-yard reception to set up a game-tying field goal. Jacobs has now topped 150 total yards in four of his nine games on the campaign.

Big effort wasted against Colts
Jacobs carried the ball 21 times for 78 yards and a touchdown and caught six of eight targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
For the first time since Week 7 and the fourth time this season, Jacobs topped 100 scrimmage yards with at least one TD, but it wasn't enough to get the Raiders into the win column. The fourth-year back is well on his way to the best numbers of his career heading into a Week 11 clash with a Broncos defense he torched for 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their first meeting this year.
Nov 6, 2022
Racks up 87 total yards
Jacobs rushed the ball 17 times for 67 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Jaguars. He added three receptions on three targets for 20 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs got off to a very slow start to the game as the Raiders' offense flowed through Davante Adams. Jacobs managed a few chunk plays in the second half of the game to salvage his performance, highlighted by gains of 15 and 13 yards -- the latter of which came on a reception. Though Jacobs has failed to find the end zone or top 100 total yards in each of his last two games, he still commands almost all of the work out of the Las Vegas backfield and should remain a reliable producer as a result.
Oct 30, 2022
Quiet in defeat
Jacobs rushed 10 times for 43 yards and caught two of four targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had a long rush of 16 yards help his efficiency, but it overall wasn't a very productive day for the tailback as his team was shut out. Coming off three straight monster performances, Jacobs' stock came back to earth Sunday in a difficult matchup. On the bright side, Week 9's contest versus the Jaguars appears favorable for a Jacobs bounce back.

Sheds injury designation
Jacobs (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in New Orleans after practicing fully Friday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' reps were capped at practices Wednesday and Thursday, but the running back may have just been getting some additional maintenance after handling 20-plus carries for the third game in a row in the Raiders' Week 7 win over the Texans. He parlayed his 20 carries (and three receptions) into 155 yards from scrimmage and a season-high three touchdowns in the win, but open running room could be harder to find in New Orleans. The Saints have allowed the second-most points per game (28.6) this season, but their run defense has surrendered more than 40 fewer yards per game (123.1) than the Texans' league-worst total (164.7).
Oct 27, 2022
Limited again Thursday
Jacobs (foot) remained limited at practice Thursday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs also was limited Wednesday, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that he's in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Saints. A return to a full practice Friday would support that notion and likely result in the running back heading into the weekend minus a Week 8 injury designation.
Oct 26, 2022
Limited practice session Wednesday
Jacobs (foot) was limited at practice Wednesday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is one of eight players listed as limited by Raiders on Wednesday's injury report, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that his status for Sunday's game against the Saints is in danger. The team's top running back is coming off a big game in Week 7 in which he ran 20 times for 143 yards and three TDs in a 38-20 win over the Texans, while adding three catches on four targets for 12 yards.
Oct 23, 2022
Rumbles for three TDs
Jacobs carried the ball 20 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Texans. He added three catches on four targets for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
All three scores came in the second half as Las Vegas broke open when had been a 10-10 tie at halftime. Jacobs has topped 100 rushing yards in three straight games, becoming the first Raider to do so since 1997, and Sunday's 143 yards was actually his lowest output during that incredible stretch -- he's amassed a stunning 441 rushing yards, 82 receiving yards and six rushing TDs in those three contests. Jacobs will take all that momentum into a Week 8 clash with a New Orleans defense that just had trouble containing Arizona's Eno Benjamin on Thursday night.
Oct 11, 2022
Posts another career best
Jacobs rushed the ball 21 times for 154 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 30-29 loss to the Chiefs. He also recorded five receptions on five targets for 39 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs posted a career-high in rushing yards for the second consecutive week, highlighted by lengthy gains of 37 and 21 yards. He also found the end zone for the third time this season, all of which have come in his last two games. While that production was encouraging enough, Jacobs tallied five receptions for the third consecutive matchup to showcase his ability as both a pass catcher and rusher. He's the clear workhorse back in Las Vegas and is showing the ability to deliver high-end production with his opportunity.
Oct 2, 2022
Career-best performance Sunday
Jacobs carried the ball 28 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns while adding five receptions on six targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 32-23 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After failing to reach 70 rushing yards in any of the first three games of the season, Jacobs erupted for a career high in rushing yards and scrimmage yards while scoring his first two TDs of the year, on a 10-yard run early in the second quarter and a seven-yard plunge that iced the game late in the fourth. He's also seen a surge in volume as a pass-catcher over the last two contests, hauling in 10 of his 11 targets. The fourth-year running back will take plenty of momentum into an AFC West clash with Kansas City in Week 5.
Sep 25, 2022
Racks up 97 total yards
Jacobs carried the ball 13 times for 66 yards in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Titans. He added five receptions for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs appeared doubtful for this contest after he didn't make the original trip with the team. However, he was active for the game and dominated opportunities out of the Las Vegas backfield. He was efficient with his opportunity on the ground and also tied for second on the team with five receptions. The only thing missing was a trip to the end zone, though he got no work near the goal line. His production hasn't been spectacular to begin the season, but Jacobs has topped 70 total yards in each of his three games.
Sep 25, 2022
Suits up Sunday
Jacobs (illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who missed practice Thursday and Friday, didn't initially travel with the team, but he subsequently made his way to Nashville in advance of the contest. After testing things out in warmups, the Raiders' top back will give it a go Sunday. It remains to be seen if Jacobs will be limited at all in the contest, but when he needs a breather versus Tennessee, Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White are on hand to absorb complementary snaps behind Jacobs, who has logged 29 carries for 126 yards and two catches for 28 yards through his first two games this season.
Sep 25, 2022
In line to play Sunday
Jacobs (illness, questionable) is on track to play Sunday against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Jacobs' Week 3 status will arrive upon the release of the Raiders' inactives ahead of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but it looks like they'll have their top back -- who missed practice Thursday and Friday -- available for Week 3 action. Through his first two contests, Jacobs has recorded 29 carries for 126 yards and two catches for 28 yards.
Sep 25, 2022
Sunday status TBD
Jacobs (illness, questionable) is in line to work out during pregame warmups to determine his availability for Sunday's game against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, there is optimism that Jacobs -- who flew separately from the team to Tennessee ahead of the contest -- will be able to suit up, but a call on his Week 3 status won't be made until warmups in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff. If Jacobs ends up out or limited, Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White would be candidates to log added backfield work versus Tennessee.
Sep 24, 2022
Traveling to Tennessee
Jacobs (illness), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, will travel to Tennessee, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
This is important because the Raiders strongly suggested the veteran starter wouldn't be able to travel with the team Saturday. Fantasy managers will still need to check in regarding Jacobs' status before the 1:00 PM ET kickoff, especially considering the 24-year-old did not participate in back-to-back practices.
Sep 23, 2022
Status in question for Sunday
Jacobs (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Tennessee, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs capped Week 3 prep with back-to-back absences, the result of an illness. Gutierrez also reported that Jacobs won't travel with the Raiders to Nashville on Friday, meaning the running back's status truly is up in the air. If Jacobs is unable to make the trip to Tennessee or shows up and eventually is limited or out Sunday, Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White are on hand to take on whatever Jacobs is unable to.
Sep 23, 2022
Still dealing with illness
Jacobs (illness) wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Through two games, Jacobs has produced modest results, averaging 4.3 YPC on 29 rushes and gathering in both targets for 28 yards with no touchdowns. An illness didn't allow him to practice Thursday and appears to be doing the same to wrap up Week 3 prep. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not Jacobs enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game at Tennessee.
Sep 22, 2022
Misses practice Thursday
Jacobs didn't practice Thursday due to an illness, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs practiced fully Wednesday, so his additional to the injury report Thursday is notable. Look for added context regarding the running back's Week 3 status to arrive no later than Friday's injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans. If Jacobs is out or limited this weekend, Brandon Bolden (hamstring, limited practice Thursday), Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White are candidates to log added backfield work versus Tennessee.
Sep 18, 2022
Big workload with mediocre results
Jacobs ran for 69 yard on 19 carries against Arizona on Sunday, adding a 12-yard catch on one target.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' workload was reassuring in this game, as Zamir White saw just one carry and Ameer Abdullah saw just one target. Unfortunately for Jacobs' fantasy investors his next matchup is a road game against the Titans, which might be a more challenging matchup than the Cardinals were.
Sep 11, 2022
Efficient with light usage
Jacobs ran for 57 yards on 10 carries and caught one pass for 16 yards on one target against the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders never gained scoreboard leverage over the Chargers in this game and as a result maintained a catch-up mentality for almost the whole game. Jacobs' rushing usage suffered as a result, even with him doing well for his own part. The Raiders lost with this approach, so new coach Josh McDaniels might have reason to involve Jacobs earlier in a Week 2 matchup against Arizona.
Aug 24, 2022
Ceding more snaps this year?
Jacobs figures to be the Raiders' starting running back but could cede some goal-line carries to Zamir White and passing-down snaps to Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
ANALYSIS
Concern surrounding Jacobs peaked when he played in the Hall of Fame Game while nearly all the Raiders' other starters sat out. He's since been held out of two preseason games, quieting concern in regard to the Week 1 starting job, but there's still a decent chance Jacobs sees his workload reduced relative to past season. He's never seen much playing time in obvious passing situations, to be fair, but he did rank top 8 in team share of inside-the-five carries the past two years, getting 78 percent in 2020 and 60 percent in 2021. White threatens to take a chunk of that, though we may not know how much, if any, until regular-season action begins the Raiders in Week 1 against the division-rival Chargers.
Aug 23, 2022
Back at practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back had missed time due to an unspecified issue, but now that he's back on the field, Jacobs will look to cement his role atop the Raiders' backfield depth chart. With the team slated to move on from Kenyan Drake, Jacobs and Zamir White appear poised to handle the bulk of the early-down work for Las Vegas, with Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden profiling as the squad's primary change-of-pace options heading into Week 1.
Aug 18, 2022
Remains sidelined
Jacobs (undisclosed) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Reed previously noted that Jacobs has been sidelined since Aug. 12, but so far it hasn't been made clear what's causing the running back's absences. With that in mind, Jacobs could be trending toward sitting out Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins.
Aug 17, 2022
Missing practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) didn't practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Reed, Jacobs has been sidelined since Aug. 12, but at this stage it's unclear what's keeping the running back off the field. With that in mind, Jacobs' status for Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins is unclear.
Aug 14, 2022
Doesn't play against Vikings
Jacobs didn't appear in the Raiders' 26-20 preseason win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was one of the few starters to play during last week's Hall of Fame Game against the Jaguars, but he didn't take the field Sunday. Ameer Abdullah was also held out for rest purposes, so Zamir White served as the starting running back and rushed five times for 13 yards while securing two of three targets for four yards. Jacobs racked up 44 yards from scrimmage during last week's Hall of Fame Game. Coach Josh McDaniels refuted speculation this week that the Raiders are looking to trade Jacobs, and the 2019 first-rounder seems to be the frontrunner to serve as the team's starting running back this year in spite of his surprising appearance in the Hall of Fame Game.
Aug 8, 2022
No trade plans
Coach Josh McDaniels has refuted speculation that the Raiders are looking to trade Jacobs, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, whose fifth-year contract option was turned down by the franchise this spring, logged seven touches in this past Thursday's preseason opener, an outcome that McDaniels downplayed, noting that the Raiders are using the preseason to get their running backs acclimated to game action, while building chemistry behind the team's offensive line. Also in the mix for touches in Las Vegas' backfield behind Jacobs -- who is listed atop the team's posted depth chart -- are Zamir White, Kenyan Drake, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.
Aug 5, 2022
Surprising appearance downplayed
Raiders coach Josh McDaniel suggested Jacobs played in Thursday's preseason opener because it's difficult for running backs to simulate game action in practice, NFL.com reports. "I always think it's good for backs to carry the ball in the preseason," McDaniels said. "There's a lot of things that happen when you're getting tackled and hit that you can't simulate in practice.
ANALYSIS
It reeks of coach-speak, but that doesn't mean Jacobs' appearance in the Hall of Fame Game is cause for total panic. For one thing, the Raiders didn't rest all their starters the way the Jaguars did, instead selectively sitting players based on age and/or status. And while Jacobs may be one of the Raiders' most prominent players from a fantasy standpoint, he doesn't compare all that favorably to other starting RBs around the league. He does compare favorably to the other guys on the Vegas depth chart, however, and he showed it Thursday night with seven touches for 44 yards. Rookie fourth-round pick Zamir White also made his case for a role with 11 carries for 52 yards, getting all his work after Jacobs was done for the night. Austin Walter and Ameer Abdullah also had their moments, but they're probably more in the mix for passing-down work, as is Brandon Bolden (who was rested). Last and perhaps least, Kenyan Drake had a rough Thursday night, managing only nine yards on five carries and working behind both Ja
Aug 4, 2022
Explosive in preseason opener
Jacobs rushed five times for 30 yards and brought in both targets for 14 yards during the Raiders' 27-11 preseason win over the Jaguars in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was the biggest name on the Raiders offense to see action Thursday, and he made good use of his time on the field as his final line indicates. Playing on Las Vegas' first two drives, the 24-year-old rattled off gains of 12 and nine yards and also put together a strong showing through the air. Jacobs figures to see similar usage in at least two of the Raiders' remaining three preseason games as a tune-up for another season as the team's lead back.
Jul 21, 2022
Back at practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) participated in Thursday's training camp practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders won't practice in pads until next week, but Jacobs' participation in Thursday's drills demonstrate that he's past the undisclosed issue that caused him to miss time during the team's OTAs. As the coming season approaches, the 2019 first-rounder heads a running back corps that also includes Kenyan Drake, Brandon Bolden and rookie fourth-rounder Zamir White. With the Raiders having declined Jacobs' fifth-year contract option, the 24-year-old approaches the coming campaign in a contract year with much to prove. If he can stay healthy, look for Jacobs to continue to handle a key early-down role for Las Vegas, with Drake mixing in and both Bolden and White also candidates to earn touches. Though Reed and Vic Tafur both suggest that White has the potential to start down the road, it remains to be seen how heavily he'll be used as a rookie. Regardless of how the Raiders' carries end up being distributed, however, the team's backfield will be working within the framework of an offense that's been fortifi
Jun 21, 2022
Non-participant at minicamp
Jacobs was held out of practices at June minicamp due to an undisclosed injury, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With no report of offseason surgery or a major injury, Jacobs seemingly has a good chance to be ready for the start of training camp in late July. He's entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, after the Raiders declined to pick up his fifth-year option for $8.03 million. Between that and the presence of a new coaching staff, Jacobs won't automatically have the same role as in past seasons, though it helps his cause to have modest competition for early down snaps -- namely 28-year-old Kenyan Drake (coming back from a major ankle injury) and fourth-round rookie Zamir White. For passing situations, the Raiders have a few more options, with Jacobs and Drake joined by offseason signings Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.
Apr 29, 2022
Fifth-year option declined
The Raiders have elected to not pick up Jacobs' fifth-year contract option, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow 2019 first-rounders Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abram, though GM Dave Ziegler relayed that the team looks "forward to working with all three players and (will) evaluate each situation individually moving forward." With that, Jacobs remains under contract with Las Vegas this coming season, and it's still possible the Raiders will look to keep the 24-year-old around beyond 2022, especially if produces well in the final year of his rookie deal. In 15 games last year, Jacobs carried 217 times for 872 yards and nine TDs, while adding 54 catches (on 64 targets) for 348 yards. He's slated to reprise his lead role in the team's backfield this coming season, with Kenyan Drake set to work in a complementary role and Brandon Bolden and Ameer Abdullah on hand in reserve.
Jan 15, 2022
Solid showing on the road
Jacobs ran for 83 yards on 13 carries and caught four passes for 44 yards on five targets against Cincinnati on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs could have had a bigger day if the Raiders had been more competitive, but they only scored one touchdown in the 26-19 loss and didn't have the luxury of leaning on their run game. Jacobs' pass-catching showing was reassuring and his production as a receiver generally in 2021 could give the Raiders reason to give him more pass-catching work in future years, though to this point in his career Jacobs has been dependent on run-viable game flows for standout fantasy production.
Jan 13, 2022
Good to go for Saturday's game
Jacobs (ribs) doesn't carry an injury designation for Saturday's playoff game against the Bengals after being listed as a limited practice participant this week, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to tight end Darren Waller (knee), which sets the stage for the Las Vegas offense to have its key playmakers available for the team's wild-card contest versus Cincinnati. In the Raiders' 35-32 overtime win over the Chargers in Week 18, Jacobs parlayed his 57 snaps into 26 carries for a season-high 132 yards and a touchdown to go along with two catches for 12 yards. He'll continue handle the bulk of the team's carries this weekend, with Jalen Richard available to serve in a change-of-pace role and Peyton Barber on hand in reserve.
Jan 12, 2022
Limited participant
Jacobs (ribs) is listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice report, with the Raiders holding a walkthrough for the second day in a row.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs played through the rib injury Week 18 and took 28 touches for 144 yards and a TD to help the Raiders earn a playoff spot. He'll now face a Bengals team that held him to 61 total yards and no score back in Week 11 when the Raiders lost by 19 points, but his workload shouldn't be an issue Saturday after Jacobs closed out the regular season with at least 61 percent of snaps and 18 touches in four straight games.
Jan 11, 2022
Remains limited by rib injury
Jacobs (ribs) was listed as limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs emerged from Week 17 action with a rib injury, which spurred the Raiders to place a cap on his reps last Wednesday through Friday. He eventually was deemed active for Sunday's must-win game against the Chargers, and he went over and through them to the tune of 28 touches for 144 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD in a 35-32 overtime victory. The fact Jacobs is kicking off this week in a similar fashion implies Las Vegas is merely managing his health, but his status nonetheless bears watching ahead of Saturday's playoff opener at Cincinnati.
Jan 10, 2022
New high in regular season finale
Jacobs (ribs) rushed 26 times for 132 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for 12 more yards in Sunday's 35-32 overtime win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs suited up for this game despite carrying a questionable tag into the weekend, but the rib injury did not appear to hamper Las Vegas' top rushing option. The 28 touches tied the 23-year-old's previous season high, while the 132 rushing yards set a new high water mark heading into the postseason. As for the regular season, Jacobs had a down year (872 rushing yards, 348 receiving yards and nine touchdowns over 15 games) and finished below 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his three seasons with the Raiders. Las Vegas has seen its offense experience major coaching and scheme changes throughout the year, but Jacobs figures to be heavily involved if the Raiders stand a chance to upset the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the playoffs.
Jan 9, 2022
Playing in Week 18
Jacobs (ribs) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs carried a 'questionable' designation into the weekend, but he'll give it a go in Sunday's regular-season finale, which has major playoff implications for both teams. With that in mind, look for Jacobs to handle as much work as his rib issue permits versus Los Angeles, with Peyton Barber and Jalen Richard available to spell him and work in complementary roles out of the Raiders' Week 18 backfield. Jacobs has ripped off 21 touches for 95 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring three rushing TDs over the last six contests.
Jan 9, 2022
Expected to play Sunday night
Jacobs (ribs) is expected to play Sunday night against the Chargers, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is officially listed as questionable for the contest, so his status is nonetheless worth confirming ahead of Sunday's 8:20 ET kickoff. If he is indeed in uniform versus Los Angeles, Jacobs would be in line to head the Raiders' Week 18 backfield, with Peyton Barber and Jalen Richard available to spell him and work in complementary roles. For those looking to secure a contingency plan just to safe, Barber worth considering.
Jan 7, 2022
Questionable for Sunday night contest
Jacobs (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Chargers, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders listed the running back as a limited practice participant all week, a slate that included walkthroughs Wednesday and Thursday. However, given his official 'questionable' designation, Jacobs' status is worth tracking ahead of Sunday's night's 8:20 ET kickoff. Ideally, some added context on that front will arrive late Saturday or early Sunday when national reporters like ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport put out their weekly injury updates. Those looking for some insurance for Jacobs considering Las Vegas' late kickoff may want to considering adding Peyton Barber.
Jan 6, 2022
Logs another limited listing
Jacobs (ribs) was listed as limited in Thursday's walkthrough, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back limited listings through Wednesday and Thursday's walkthroughs, Friday's final injury report will reveal whether the Raiders' top back approaches Sunday's regular-season finale against the Chargers with a Week 18 injury designation or fully cleared to play.
Jan 5, 2022
Limited at walkthrough
Jacobs (ribs) was listed as limited at Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has two more opportunities to upgrade his participation level ahead of Sunday's night's game against the Chargers. However, at this stage there's nothing to suggest that the running back's Week 18 status is in peril. If Jacobs is able to practice fully by Friday, he'll have a chance to head into the weekend minus an injury designation.
Jan 2, 2022
Totals 80 yards, finds end zone
Jacobs rushed the ball 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts. He added four receptions for 17 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs enjoyed a productive day primarily on the basis of volume, as he topped 20 touches for the fourth time in his last six games. He wasn't all that efficient, as he managed only one gain that went for double-digit yards. However, he did salvage his effort with a two-yard plunge into the end zone midway through the first quarter. Jacobs hasn't been the most efficient performer this season, though he did surpass 1,000 total yards for the third consecutive campaign.
Dec 26, 2021
Big day against Denver
Jacobs carried the ball 27 times for 129 yards and caught one of three targets for minus-five yards in Sunday's 17-13 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
It's the first time all season Jacobs has hit for triple-digit rushing yards, and his day would have been even more productive had Peyton Barber not vultured a five-yard TD run in the third quarter. Jacobs is on a roll to close out the season, compiling 490 scrimmage yards over the last five games, and he'll look to keep his momentum going in Week 17 against the Colts.
Dec 23, 2021
Logs full practice
Jacobs (illness) returned to a full practice Thursday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs sat out Wednesday's session, but the running back's full participation Thursday sets the stage for him to continue to head the Raiders' backfield Sunday against the Broncos. In the team's 16-14 win over the Browns this past Monday, Jacobs logged 45 of a possible 69 snaps on offense, en route to carrying 15 times for 52 yards and catching three of his four targets for 42 yards. As his team's clear-cut top RB option, Jacobs maintains reliable enough volume to profile as a solid fantasy option in Week 16.
Dec 22, 2021
Listed as DNP Wednesday
Jacobs (illness) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if Jacobs' illness might impact his availability for Thursday's practice, but all things considered league-wide his status is now worth monitoring as Sunday's game against the Broncos approaches. Next up for the Raiders' RB reps if Jacobs misses the session or is limited are Peyton Barber and Jalen Richard.
Dec 20, 2021
Just shy of 100 scrimmage yards
Jacobs rushed 15 times for 52 yards and caught three of four targets for 42 yards in Monday's 16-14 win over Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs still hasn't reached 100 rushing yards in a game this season, but he came six yards from breaking 100 scrimmage yards for the second time. He continues to struggle on the ground but has been much more involved as a pass-catcher recently, totaling 17 receptions for 126 yards over the past three games for a Raiders team with a dearth of receiving options besides Hunter Renfrow. Peyton Barber (five carries for 34 yards) mixed in with fresh legs on occasion, but Jacobs should remain the leading man in the Vegas backfield in Week 16 against the Broncos.
Dec 17, 2021
Raiders-Browns moved to Monday
Jacobs and the Raiders will no longer play the Browns on Saturday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
ANALYSIS
Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within the Cleveland organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Browns will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. Assuming the Week 15 game is played Monday as planned, Jacobs and Las Vegas will face a quick turnaround for its Week 16 contest versus the Broncos, which is still expected to be played Sunday, Dec. 26 as scheduled.
Dec 12, 2021
Salvages performance as receiver
Jacobs rushed the ball nine times for 24 yards in Sunday's 48-9 loss to the Chiefs. He added five receptions on six targets for 46 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs began the game in inauspicious fashion by fumbling on his first carry. His day didn't get much better on the ground, as he was limited to fewer than 30 yards for the third time this season. On the other hand, Jacobs did manage to chip in as a receiver, highlighted by catches of 14 and 10 yards. Work as a pass catcher has been the key to his production of late, as he now has at least four receptions in five of his last six games.
Dec 5, 2021
Big day as pass catcher
Jacobs carried the ball 13 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and caught all nine of his targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 17-15 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
He tied Hunter Renfrow for the team lead in receptions, as Derek Carr didn't show a lot of trust in any of his other options through the air, and Jacobs' one-yard TD plunge in the fourth quarter set the Raiders up to potentially tie the game at 14-14, but they weren't able to cash in a two-point conversion. The running back has reached 90 scrimmage yards with a touchdown in back-to-back games, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 14 battle with Kansas City.
Dec 5, 2021
Suits up Sunday
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who logged limited practices Thursday and Friday before heading into the weekend listed as questionable, will give it a go Sunday and should continue to lead the Raiders' backfield in Week 13, with Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber on hand to spell him. In Las Vegas' 36-33 overtime win over Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, Jacobs logged 57 of a possible 87 snaps on offense, en route to carrying 22 times for 87 yards and a TD, while catching two of his four targets for 25 yards.
Dec 5, 2021
Likely to go Sunday
Jacobs (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs logged limited practices Thursday and Friday before taking the designation into the weekend, but he looks like he's trending toward playing. Confirmation of his availability, either way, will arrive when the Raiders' inactive list is posted 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 3, 2021
Questionable for Sunday
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington after logging limited practices Thursday and Friday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As a result, Jacobs' availability will be worth monitoring as Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff approaches, though it's quite plausible that national reporters like ESPN's Adam Schefter and/or NFL Network's Ian Rapoport will provide updates on the running back's status prior to the first wave of games this weekend. If Jacobs ends up limited or out versus Washington, however, Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard would be next up for the Raiders' backfield snaps, with Peyton Barber a candidate to be made active after having been a healthy scratch in Week 12.
Dec 2, 2021
Added to injury report
Jacobs was added to the Raiders' Week 13 injury report after logging a limited practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, Rachel Gossen of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs practiced fully Wednesday, so it's possible he tweaked his ankle during Thursday's session. As a result, his status is worth tracking, but if he's able to get in a good practice Friday, he could avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against Washington. Next up for the Raiders' carries this weekend if Jacobs is out or limited are Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard, with Peyton Barber a candidate to suit up after being a healthy scratch in Week 12.
Nov 26, 2021
Breaks out against Cowboys
Jacobs carried the ball 22 times for 87 yards and a touchdown and caught two of four targets for 25 yards in a 36-33 overtime win over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
ANALYSIS
Interim coach Rich Bisaccia said coming into the game he wanted to re-emphasize the Raiders' running game, and he followed through by giving Jacobs his biggest touch volume of the season. The second-year back took advantage, topping 100 scrimmage yards for the first time all year and finding the end zone for the first time since Week 7. Jacobs will look to built on this performance in Week 13 against Washington.
Nov 21, 2021
Modest numbers in loss
Jacobs carried the ball nine times for 37 yards and caught five of seven targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
While he saw his usual touch volume and hauled in at least three passes for the sixth time in the last seven games, Jacobs didn't produce much in the way of yardage and failed to get into the end zone for the third straight contest -- and perhaps not coincidentally, the Raiders have lost all three. He'll look to snap that scoring drought in a Thanksgiving Day clash with the Cowboys.
Nov 19, 2021
Cleared for Sunday's game
Jacobs (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals after practicing in a limited fashion this past week.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who rushed seven times for 16 yards and caught all five targets for 20 more yards in this past Sunday's 41-14 loss to the Chiefs, is thus in line to head the Raiders' Week 11 backfield, with Kenyan Drake on hand to work in a complementary role and Jalen Richard a candidate to handle some change-of-pace snaps if he's able to play through a rib injury that has him listed as questionable. To date, Jacobs has averaged 42.3 rushing yards, 21.3 receiving yards and tallied five TDs through seven games, numbers that put him on the fantasy lineup radar in most formats.
Nov 18, 2021
Logs another limited practice
Jacobs (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Friday's injury report will reveal whether Jacobs approaches Sunday's game against the Bengals with a Week 11 injury designation, but at this stage there's nothing to suggest that the Raiders' top back -- who has averaged 42.3 rushing yards, 21.3 receiving yards and scored five TDs through seven games to date -- will be sidelined this weekend.
Nov 17, 2021
Limited practice Wednesday
Jacobs (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was on the field for 31 of a possible 54 snaps on offense in this past Sunday's loss to Kansas City, en route to recording seven carries for 16 yards and five catches for 20 yards. At this point there's nothing to suggest that his availability for this weekend's game against the Bengals is in peril, but a return to a full practice session by Friday on the part of Jacobs would cement his Week 11 status.
Nov 15, 2021
Struggles on ground
Jacobs rushed seven times for 16 yards and caught all five targets for 20 more yards in Sunday's 41-14 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
It was a rough night for Jacobs, who struggled to get anything going on the ground while the game was still within reach, only to get phased out in the second half due to an unfavorable game script. The bruising back also lost his lead blocker early on when Alec Ingold left the game with an apparent knee injury that is now feared to be a torn ACL, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. With their fullback gone, the Raiders ran more plays out of the gun, which hurt Jacobs' downhill running style. The good news for Las Vegas' starting back is that the Bengals are on tap for Week 11, whose defense has surrendered 20.6 fantasy points per game to opposing backs.
Nov 7, 2021
Tallies 95 total yards
Jacobs recorded 13 rushes for 76 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Giants. He added four receptions for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs continued to dominate work out of the Raiders' backfield, accounting for 13 of the team's 17 rushing attempts recorded by running backs. He also managed his highest rushing yardage total of the season by logging five rushes that went for 10 or more yards. While Kenyan Drake dominated receiving work at the position, Jacobs has also now recorded multiple receptions in four of his last five games. Jacobs will draw a favorable matchup against the Chiefs in Week 10, though game script could dictate more work for Drake.
Nov 3, 2021
Not on Week 9 injury report
Jacobs, who sustained a chest contusion in the Raiders' Week 7 win over the Eagles, is not listed on the team's Week 9 injury report.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders were on bye last week and the time off evidently allowed Jacobs to recover from his chest issue. As a result, he's in line to retain his lead RB role Sunday against the Giants. In five games thus far this season, Jacobs has logged 60 carries for 204 yards and five TDs, while adding 14 catches (on 16 targets) for 110 yards.
Oct 25, 2021
Diagnosed with contusion
Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said Jacobs sustained a chest contusion in Sunday's 33-22 win over the Eagles, but the running back is expected to be fine for the Raiders' next game Nov. 7 against the Giants, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the injury knocked him out of the Raiders' Week 7 game early, Jacobs likely would have stood a good chance at playing next weekend, if Las Vegas had a game. Instead, Jacobs will benefit from an extra week of rest with the Raiders on bye Week 8, which should put him in strong position to practice fully in advance of the matchup with the Giants. Jacobs at least rewarded fantasy managers with a touchdown before his early departure against the Eagles, while also chipping in 68 yards from scrimmage on nine touches (six carries, three catches).
Oct 24, 2021
Avoided major injury
Jacobs (chest) likely avoided a serious injury in Sunday's game against the Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders have a well-timed Week 8 bye, which will give the banged-up Jacobs extra time to heal up after he exited Sunday's 33-22 win early. Jacobs battled toe and ankle injuries early in the season, but he has gotten on a roll lately and extended his touchdown streak to three games prior to hurting his chest against Philly.
Oct 24, 2021
Leaves Sunday's game
Jacobs exited Sunday's game against the Eagles with a chest injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to departing the contest, Jacobs had logged six carries for 29 yards and a TD and caught three passes for 39 yards. With Peyton Barber inactive Sunday, Kenyan Drake is next up for the Raiders' carries, with Jalen Richard on hand for change-of-pace looks.
Oct 17, 2021
Finds the end zone
Jacobs ran for 53 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries while catching his only target for 29 yards against Denver on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was somewhat plodding in the ground game with just 3.3 yards per carry, but he provided a steadying presence for the Raiders as they protected a lead for most of the game. The 29-yard reception is hopefully a good omen for Jacobs' rushing efficiency in upcoming games, because he has generally struggled from scrimmage through four games (3.2 yards per carry, 5.5 yards per target). Jacobs' investors will hope he can maintain his touchdown production going forward, though hopefully with more yardage to show. He gets the Eagles in Week 7.
Oct 15, 2021
Cleared to face Broncos
Jacobs (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Broncos after returning to a limited practice Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs missed Thursday's practice session, but the running back's limited participation Friday and subsequent final listing on the Raiders' Week 6 injury report sets the stage for him to head the team's rushing attack this weekend against a stout Denver defense that has allowed an average of 85.4 rushing yards to date. Meanwhile, Peyton Barber (toe) is available to spell Jacobs in early-down situations Sunday, while Kenyan Drake and possibly Jalen Richard are slated to work in change-of-pace roles versus the Broncos.
Oct 15, 2021
Makes late appearance at practice
Jacobs (illness) made an appearance at Friday's practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Initially, Jacobs wasn't present at the start of the media portion of the session, per Reed, but the running back appears as if he'll get into some drills. Jacobs showed up on Thursday's practice report as a non-participant due to an illness, so it'll be interesting to see how he's listed Friday, both in terms of activity level and for Sunday's game at Denver.
Oct 15, 2021
Another absence Friday
Jacobs (illness) didn't practice Friday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In a rarity this season, Jacobs didn't appear on the first injury report of Week 6 prep, only to show up as a non-participant Thursday due to an illness. The ailment is keeping him out of drills for a second straight session Friday, so it remains to be seen how the Raiders will list him for Sunday's contest at Denver. Another absence for Jacobs likely would result in Peyton Barber handling most of the early down work out of the backfield, while Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard would be poised for more snaps than usual.
Oct 14, 2021
Comes down with illness
Jacobs didn't practice Thursday due to an illness, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs just can't avoid the injury report this season. While he avoided it entirely Wednesday, he made yet another appearance Thursday, only this time for non-injury reasons. It's unclear whether the illness is related to COVID-19, but his status should be watched closely to get a sense of his potential to play Sunday at Denver. If Jacobs sits out for the third time this season, Payton Barber likely would got most of the work on early downs, with Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard serving as change-of-pace options out of the Raiders backfield.
Oct 7, 2021
Returns to full practice
Jacobs (ankle) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was limited Wednesday, but his return to a full session Thursday paves the way for him to continue to head the Raiders' backfield Sunday against the Bears. With fellow RB Peyton Barber sidelined by a toe injury and change-of-pace back Kenyan Drake having logged limited touches in Week 4, Jacobs figures to be busy this weekend against a Chicago defense that has allowed an average of 112.0 rushing yards per game to date.
Oct 6, 2021
Limited at practice
Jacobs (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After missing back-to-back games, Jacobs returned to action in Monday night's loss to the Chargers, logging 36 of a possible 57 snaps on offense, while carrying 13 times for 40 yards and catching all five of his targets for 17 yards. With no reported setbacks in the contest, we suspect that Jacobs' limitations Wednesday were indicative of rep management versus an injury setback. Meanwhile, fellow RB Peyton Barber missed the Raiders' first practice of the week with a toe injury and is in danger of missing this Sunday's game against the Bears.
Oct 4, 2021
High usage in return
Jacobs rushed 13 times for 40 yards and caught all five of his targets for 17 yards in Monday night's 28-14 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs made his first appearance since Week 1 but found it tough to move the ball against Los Angeles' rush defense. On the bright side, he contributed a handful of receptions in the passing game, overall garnering a healthy 18 touches in his return to Las Vegas' backfield. That involvement should offer encouragement surrounding Jacobs' stock as he aims to put his early-season injury concerns behind him and look ahead to Week 5's matchup against the Bears.
Oct 4, 2021
Returning from two-game absence
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as active Monday against the Chargers in L.A.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the past two games due to ankle and toe injuries, Jacobs is back in action following limited showings at every Week 4 practice. His workload remains to be seen, though. There's a chance he shares early-down work with Peyton Barber and yields most change-of-pace duties to Kenyan Drake, but Jacobs nonetheless is available to the Raiders offense again.
Oct 2, 2021
Game-time decision for Monday
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Chargers and will likely be a game-time decision, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was spotted participating in Saturday's practice, but the Raiders have been understandably cautious with the 2019 first-round pick, holding him out each of the last two weeks. According to coach Jon Gruden, Jacobs will be put through a pre-game gauntlet to determine his status ahead of the divisional contest. While the team spent lavishly on the acquisition of Kenyan Drake this offseason, it's been veteran castoff Peyton Barber who has taken on a heavy workload with Jacobs sidelined, logging a 23-111-1 rushing line in last week's win over the Dolphins. Expect to see another heavy dose of Barber in the event Jacobs is sidelined Monday.
Oct 1, 2021
Logs another limited practice
Jacobs (ankle) remained limited at practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who missed the Raiders' last two games, is making progress having logged back-to-back limited practice sessions, but coach Jon Gruden indicated Thursday that the running back is viewed as questionable for Monday night's game against the Chargers. Saturday's final injury report will confirm whether that is indeed Jacobs' Week 4 designation, but if he's limited or out versus Los Angeles, Peyton Barber - who logged a 23/111/1 rushing line and caught three passes in a Week 3 win over Miami -- would once again be in line for added work in the Raiders' ground game in tandem with Kenyan Drake.
Sep 30, 2021
Back at practice
Jacobs (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who has missed two straight games, was unable to practice at all last week, so his return to the field Thursday is no doubt a step in the right direction. However, when asked about the running back's chances of playing Monday night against the Chargers, coach Jon Gruden said, "we'll see. I'd say he's questionable at the moment." If Jacobs is out or limited Monday, Peyton Barber would once again be in line for added work in the Raiders' rushing attack in tandem with Kenyan Drake.
Sep 26, 2021
Inactive Sunday
Jacobs (ankle)is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
With Jacobs missing his second straight contest, the Raiders will once again turn to Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber to share the team's backfield duties Sunday. It's a time-share that resulted in Drake logging seven carries for nine yards and five catches for 46 yards (on 47 snaps), while Barber recorded 13 carries for 32 yards (on 19 snaps) in the Raiders' 26-17 victory Pittsburgh in Week 2. While Barber figures to maintain an early-down/short-yardage presence and looks like a TD-dependent fantasy play this week, Drake's ability to contribute as a pass-catcher gives him a degree of PPR utility versus Miami.
Sep 24, 2021
Doubtful for Week 3
Jacobs (ankle) is considered doubtful for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Jacobs trending toward his second straight missed game, Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber are in line to share the Raiders' backfield duties once again this weekend. It's an arrangement that yielded Drake seven carries for nine yards and five catches for 46 yards (on 47 snaps) and Barber 13 carries for 32 yards (on 19 snaps) in the Raiders' Week 2 win over the Steelers.
Sep 23, 2021
Logs another DNP
Jacobs (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was also listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's session. With Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal having previously relayed that coach Jon Gruden considered the running back "very questionable" for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, it looks as though Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber are trending toward continuing to share the Raiders' backfield duties this weekend.
Sep 22, 2021
Logs practice absence
Jacobs (toe/ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, coach Jon Gruden previously referred to Jacobs as "very questionable" for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The running back's absence from practice Wednesday would seem to reinforce his cloudy Week 3 status. If Jacobs is sidelined once again this weekend, Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber would continue to handle the team's backfield duties versus Miami.
Sep 20, 2021
Looking uncertain for Week 3
Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that Jacobs (toe/ankle) is day-to-day and "very questionable" to face the Dolphins in Week 3, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs wasn't able to suit up against the Steelers in Week 2, and it looks like he's no lock to return to full health in time to face Miami. Kenyan Drake was out-carried by Peyton Barber in Jacobs' absence on Sunday, but neither running back managed much in the way of efficiency on the ground against Pittsburgh's stout defensive front.
Sep 17, 2021
Sitting against Steelers
Jacobs (toe/ankle) won't play in Week 2 against the Steelers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs looked noticeably hobbled at times in Monday's win over the Ravens but still managed to rumble for two touchdowns. Rather than continue to gut it out, Jacobs will get a week off to heal in hopes of returning closer to full health before the Raiders host the Dolphins in Week 3. Kenyan Drake could be in line for a three-down role Sunday, with Peyton Barber spelling him on early downs and the possibility of a Trey Ragas sighting or two.
Sep 17, 2021
Not spotted at start of practice
Jacobs (toe/ankle) wasn't spotted at the start of Friday's practice, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll circle back on Jacobs' status once his official Week 2 injury designation is revealed, but if he's out or limited Sunday against the Steelers, Kenyan Drake would be in line to see added opportunities in the Raiders' backfield, with Peyton Barber (and perhaps Trey Ragas) also in the mix.
Sep 16, 2021
Absent for another practice
Jacobs (toe/ankle) wasn't present for Thursday's practice, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' absence from the Raiders' first Week 2 practice Wednesday wasn't a major surprise after he played 45 snaps two days earlier in the team's overtime win over the Ravens, but a second straight day of no practice participation suddenly raises more concern about his availability for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh. The Raiders will see what Jacobs is able to do at Friday's practice before determining whether he'll carry a designation into the weekend. Kenyan Drake would be the next man up as the Raiders' top option on the ground if Jacobs ends up sitting Sunday.
Sep 15, 2021
Misses Wednesday practice
Jacobs (toe/ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
That's not surprising, with the Raiders having played Monday and Jacobs having previously suggested that he may have some maintenance days on certain Wednesday's. Still, Tafur notes that the running is pretty banged up at this stage, so Jacobs' status is worth monitoring as Sunday's game against the Steelers approaches. Wednesday's session was a walk-through, so what Jacobs is able to do Thursday should provide better context with regard to his Week 2 status.
Sep 14, 2021
Scores twice in thriller
Jacobs rushed 10 times for 34 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's 33-27 overtime win against the Ravens. He also caught one of two targets for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs suited up after dealing with a toe injury and illness prior to Week 1. Although he looked a little banged up early, the tailback showed great perseverance to ultimately score twice. His first touchdown came on a two-yard plunge in the first half, then Jacobs tied the game with an impressive 15-yard end-zone trip in the fourth quarter. Despite teammate Kenyan Drake outgaining Jacobs with 70 yards on his 11 touches, neither runner could get much going on the ground against a swarming Ravens defense. Nonetheless, Jacobs provided the necessary scoring punch when required, starting his season on a strong note.
Sep 13, 2021
Suiting up Monday
Jacobs (illness) is active for Monday's game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs tended to a toe injury during Week 1 prep, but despite logging limited sessions he was cleared on the Raiders' last practice report Saturday. He proceeded to come down with an illness Sunday, spurring the team to place a questionable tag on the running back. Fortunately for fantasy managers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday that Jacobs was in line to suit up in the opener, and he'll do just that. With Kenyan Drake on the roster, however, it remains to be seen how much work Jacobs can expect due to his recent health concerns.
Sep 13, 2021
Expected to play
Jacobs (illness) is trending toward playing Monday against the Ravens, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Confirmation likely won't surface until shortly before kickoff, but Jacobs is more likely to suit up than not. How much he'll contribute if healthy is another story, making Kenyan Drake an arguably safer fantasy play given the newcomer's health and expected pass-catching contributions.
Sep 12, 2021
Downgraded to questionable
Jacobs (illness) has been downgraded to questionable for Monday's game against the Ravens, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was cleared of a toe injury Saturday, but his status has been thrown back in doubt due to an illness. If the Raiders' early down workhorse is unable to suit up Monday, offseason additions Kenyan Drake and Peyton Barber would split carries in Vegas' backfield, with Drake likely taking on the lead role. A final verdict on Jacobs' status likely won't come down until shortly prior to kickoff.
Sep 11, 2021
Cleared for Monday
Jacobs (toe) wasn't listed on the team's final injury report ahead of Monday's contest against the Ravens, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging his third straight limited practice, Jacobs will nevertheless enter Week 1 deemed completely healthy. It wouldn't be surprising if the 2019 first-round pick routinely has a similar sort of practice cadence in ensuing weeks to maintain the balky toe injury which he suffered towards the end of August.
Sep 10, 2021
Limited again Friday
Jacobs (toe) practiced in a limited capacity Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After the session, Jacobs relayed to Gutierrez, "I feel good. I did everything today. I feel good to go." Jacobs missed practice earlier this week due to a toe issue, but since the Raiders have been required to post injury reports he's been an active participant in drills, albeit with a cap on his reps. He noted Friday that he may see maintenance days moving forward, but the current concern doesn't appear as if it'll impact his availability for game action.
Sep 9, 2021
Limited by toe injury
Jacobs was limited at practice Thursday due to a toe issue.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' presence on the field Thursday after previously missing practice bodes well for his chances of suiting up Monday night against the Ravens. He'll have two more chances to elevate his participation level in advance of the contest. Assuming he's cleared to play in Week 1, Jacobs is poised to head the Raiders' backfield, with Kenyan Drake on hand to work in a complementary role and Peyton Barber available in a reserve capacity.
Sep 7, 2021
Missing Week 1 practice time
Jacobs was absent from his second straight practice Tuesday for an unspecified reason and isn't expected to return to the field until Thursday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders haven't revealed whether Jacobs' absence is related to an injury, an illness or a personal matter, and an explanation likely won't be provided until Thursday, when the team will release its first Week 1 practice report. Regardless, assuming Jacobs makes it back to practice Thursday as expected, he would be in position to lead the Las Vegas backfield in Monday's season opener versus the Ravens. Jacobs' absence from workouts to begin the week will at least have the side benefit of allowing the Raiders to feed more reps to newly signed back Peyton Barber, who is projected to serve as the No. 3 option behind Jacobs and pass-catching specialist Jalen Richard.
Aug 21, 2021
Won't take field Saturday
Jacobs will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is established in the Raiders' offense so the team won't take any chances of him suffering in an injury. Joining him on the sidelines from the backfield is Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard (foot). That will leave a heavy workload for BJ Emmons and Trey Ragas.
Aug 21, 2021
Expected to lead backfield
The Raiders might view Jacobs and Kenyan Drake similarly to coach Jon Gruden's Tyrone Wheatley and Charlie garner backfields, according to ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
While Jacobs might match the Wheatley aesthetic more than the speedy, pass-catching skill set of Garner, Jacobs is still the heavy favorite to remain the clear leader between himself and Drake. Drake, meanwhile, is expected to play an off-the-bench role with a pass-catching emphasis. Particularly if the Raiders cut or bench Jalen Richard, there could be room for Jacobs and Drake to coexist.
Jun 30, 2021
Facing competition from Drake
The offseason addition of Kenyan Drake could impact Jacobs' playing time, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs will still be the starter and lead ballcarrier, but Drake's two-year, $11 million contract hints at a larger role than what Devontae Booker handled last season. Booker, now with the Giants, averaged 5.1 carries and 1.3 targets in the 15 games both he and Jacobs played. It is possible that Drake could get more work without negatively impacting Jacobs, but only if the Raiders improve their overall efficiency on offense, particularly in the running game. Jacobs averaged 3.9 YPC last season, ranking third in the league in carries (273) but only eighth in rushing yards (1,065). He was one of four players -- along with Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon -- to average more than 18 carries per game.
Jan 11, 2021
Avoids DUI charge
Jacobs won't be charged with a DUI following a Jan. 4 arrest related to a single vehicle collision in Las Vegas, Nev., Glenn Puit of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' legal woes aren't over, though, as he faces a misdemeanor count of failure to decrease speed or use due care under certain circumstances. Once the legal process works itself out -- he has a March court date on the docket -- the NFL could levy a punishment if he was deemed to violate the personal conduct policy. On the field this past season, Jacobs accounted for 1,303 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns on 273 carries and 33 catches (45 targets) in 15 games.
Jan 4, 2021
Arrested on DUI charge
Jacobs was arrested Monday on a DUI charge relating to a single vehicle collision, Kevin Bolinger of FOX 5 Vegas reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated after the vehicular collision, per Bolinger. The second-year pro has since been released from both custody and the hospital, and he's been assigned with a March court appearance date. Based on the NFL's precedent of assigning punishments for DUI arrests, it's possible that Jacobs could face a 2-to-3 game suspension during the 2021 season. He had 273 carries for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns through 15 games in 2020, while also securing 33 of 45 targets for 238 yards.
Jan 3, 2021
Scores twice in Week 17 win
Jacobs carried the ball 15 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 32-31 win over the Broncos. He failed to catch his only target.
ANALYSIS
After gashing Denver for two TDs in their first meeting in Week 10, Jacobs repeated the feat in the season finale. The second-year back finished the campaign with 1,065 rushing yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns, but he dealt with nagging injuries once again and has yet to play a full 16-game schedule. Jacobs will head into 2021 at the top of the Raiders backfield depth chart.
Dec 27, 2020
Held scoreless in loss to Phins
Jacobs totaled 69 yards on 13 carries during Saturday's 26-25 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
The 2020 Pro Bowl back was unable to haul in either of his targets, making for a quiet receiving day after he accumulated his second-highest receiving output of the year (38 yards) against the Chargers in Week 15. Jacobs had an opportunity to punch in a game-winning touchdown with two overtime carries inside the five-yard line against Los Angeles. Again against Miami, the 22-year-old came up short in a pair of short-yardage situations. A Jacobs first-quarter goal-line carry landed Las Vegas a yard short of the goal line before Derek Carr scored on a QB sneak the following play, while a 4th-and-1 plunge from Las Vegas' own 47 with 8:36 to go in the third quarter lost one yard. Even so, Jacobs' opportunities remain ample as the powerful back has garnered 13-plus carries in three straight outings heading into a Week 17 road trip to Denver.
Dec 18, 2020
Powers through hefty workload
Jacobs rushed 26 times for 76 yards and a touchdown and secured all three targets for 38 yards in the Raiders' 30-27 overtime loss to the Chargers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs not only came into the critical divisional clash for the Raiders dealing with a nagging ankle issue, but he exited the game late in the fourth quarter to have his knee tended to. However, the second-year workhorse quickly returned on the fourth play of Las Vegas' overtime-opening possession and logging six touches on a drive that culminated in a Daniel Carlson field goal. Jacobs' game-tying one-yard scoring leap in the third quarter served as his 10th touchdown of the season, while his yardage tally Thursday was his highest since Week 10 against the Broncos. He'll look to continue producing in a Week 16 battle versus the Dolphins on Saturday night, Dec. 26.
Dec 17, 2020
Back in action
Jacobs (knee) has returned to Thursday's game against the Chargers, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs barely spent any time on the sideline, as he retook the field in the middle of Las Vegas' first drive of overtime. With the Raiders still fighting for a tentative playoff spot and in a must-win scenario, and Derek Carr (groin) already out, Jacobs' return to the field will no doubt be invaluable.
Dec 17, 2020
Injures knee Thursday
Jacobs (knee) is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacob left late in the fourth quarter, and he isn't on the field to begin overtime. The second-year pro was questionable for Thursday's tilt with an ankle issue, but he's now dealing with a knee injury. Devontae Booker stands to start out of the backfield if Jacobs can't return.
Dec 16, 2020
Cleared to play Thursday
Jacobs (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation for Thursday night's game against the Chargers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs approached Week 14 action listed as questionable, but he suited up and recorded 29 (of a possible 68) snaps on offense in the Raiders' loss to the Colts, carrying 13 times for 49 yards and catching three of his five targets for 25 yards in the process. Though listed as a limited practice participant this week, Jacobs been cleared to play Thursday and will once again head the Raiders' backfield against a Chargers defense that has allowed an average of 120.0 rushing yards per game to date.
Dec 15, 2020
Limited practice Tuesday
Jacobs (ankle) was limited at Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
For a second consecutive day, the Raiders listed Jacobs as limited, only this time did they hold practice. The team seems to be managing his reps with a short turnaround between games, but Wednesday's injury report may still leave the running back as a question mark for Thursday's game versus the Chargers. While Jacobs played through his ankle issue this past Sunday against the Colts, he logged a season-low share of the offensive snaps (43 percent) en route to 16 touches for 74 yards from scrimmage and no TDs.
Dec 14, 2020
Estimated as limited Monday
Jacobs (ankle) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
It's not a surprise to see Jacobs' name on the Raiders' initial Week 15 injury/practice report. The running back headed into Week 14 action listed as questionable, but was able to suit up and log 29 (of a possible 68) snaps on offense in Sunday's 44-27 loss to the Colts. In the process, Jacobs carried 13 times for 49 yards and caught three of his five targets for 25. Fantasy managers can't take anything for granted with Jacobs these days, be we suspect that he'll be available for this coming Thursday's game against the Chargers.
Dec 13, 2020
Held in check vs. Colts
Jacobs (ankle) carried 13 times for 49 yards and caught three of five targets for 25 yards during Sunday's 44-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs, who came into the game nursing a nagging injury, managed just 3.8 yards per carry against a tough Indianapolis front. His rushing attempts were limited by a lopsided scoreline and he failed to make a notable impact in the passing game despite receiving his most targets since Week 1. Assuming Jacobs didn't aggravate the injury, he'll look to get back on track Thursday against an inconsistent Chargers defensive unit.
Dec 13, 2020
Draws the start Sunday
Jacobs (ankle) started at running back for the Raiders in Sunday's game against the Colts, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A pre-game Instagram post by the running back suggesting that he wasn't playing Sunday caused a stir in the fantasy community, but once Jacobs began participating in warmups, it became apparent that he'd been joking and was in line to play, as had been previously implied by his active status for the contest.
Dec 13, 2020
Appears in line to play Sunday
Adam Schefter of ESPN relays that Jacobs (ankle) is going through pre-game warmups in advance of Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Schefter previously relayed that Jacobs indicated on Instagram that he wasn't playing Sunday despite being listed as active, but now Schefter suggests that Jacobs "appears to have been joking with the fantasy community." If that assessment changes, we'll update the situation.
Dec 13, 2020
Good to go Sunday
Jacobs (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was considered questionable after practicing as a limited participant Thursday and Friday, but he's all set to play Week 14. The 22-year-old had only seven carries for 27 yards and three catches for 17 yards Week 12 and sat out last week's loss to the Falcons, and he gets a tough draw Sunday against a Colts run defense that's allowing 3.8 yards per carry.
Dec 13, 2020
Should face Indianpolis
Jacobs (ankle), who is listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The second-year tailback received the questionable tag after practicing in a limited capacity Thursday and Friday, and he's on track to suit up for Sunday. Jacobs sat out last week's win over the Jets after he sustained the ankle sprain Week 12, but it appears his absence will be limited to a single game.
Dec 11, 2020
Listed as questionable for Week 14
Jacobs (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts after logging limited practices both Thursday and Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com
ANALYSIS
Jacobs sat out Wednesday's session, but the fact that he practiced Thursday and Friday -- albeit in a limited capacity -- would seem to bode well for his Week 14 availability. Final confirmation of the running back's status will arrive once the Raiders inactives are released in advance of Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff.
Dec 10, 2020
Resumes practicing
Jacobs (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen how the Raiders list Jacobs for Sunday's game against the Colts, but his return to the field Thursday, albeit in a limited capacity, suggests that the running back has a chance to return to action this weekend. If that doesn't happen, however, Devontae Booker would be in line to lead the team's backfield again, with Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick on hand to work in complementary/change-of-pace roles.
Dec 9, 2020
Misses Wednesday's practice
Jacobs (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Jon Gruden was pessimistic Monday about Jacobs' chances of suiting up Sunday against the Colts, and not much seems to have changed two days later. If Jacobs is forced to miss a second consecutive game, Devontae Booker would be in line to headline Vegas' backfield again, with Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick also on hand.
Dec 5, 2020
Could play Week 14
Jacobs (ankle) will not play Sunday against the Jets, but the Raiders are hopeful the running back can return in Week 14, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a bit of an ominous note considering the running back didn't practice all week. Of course the Raiders would like to have their star running back healthy as the team pushes for a playoff spot, but the tone of Saturday's latest report seems to suggest it'll once again come down to Jacobs' practice status later next week. For now, expect Devontae Booker to get the bulk of the carries in Jacobs' absence.
Dec 4, 2020
Won't play Sunday
Jacobs (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Jets, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Now that Jacobs is ruled out, look for Devontae Booker to head the Raiders' Week 13 backfield, with Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick available to handle complementary/change-of-pace duties Sunday. Jacobs will now target a potential return to action Dec. 13 against the Colts.
Dec 3, 2020
Sits out another practice
Jacobs (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has now missed back-to-back practices due to an ankle sprain sustained during last weekend's blowout loss to the Falcons. It's been suggested that the issue is relatively minor and that Jacobs still has a shot to suit up Week 13, but he'd most likely need to practice in some capacity Friday in order to play during Sunday's game against the Jets. Devontae Booker and Jalen Richard, both of whom are practicing in full, would stand to lead Las Vegas' backfield if Jacobs can't go.
Dec 2, 2020
Misses practice Wednesday
Jacobs (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network previously suggested that Jacobs has a chance to play through his ankle sprain Sunday against the Jets, but with a missed practice under his belt to start the week, the running back's status needs to be monitored in the coming days. If he's limited or out this weekend, Devontae Booker and Jalen Richard (who practiced fully Wednesday) would be next up for the Raiders' Week 13 backfield touches.
Nov 30, 2020
Could play this week
Jacobs (ankle) has a shot to suit up against the Jets on Sunday despite his sprained ankle, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' medical evaluations Monday confirmed that he's avoided any sort of major injury and is simply dealing with an ankle sprain. It looks as though he has a fair shot to take the field Week 13, depending on how well he holds up at practice. If Jacobs were to miss any time, however, Devontae Booker would be the favorite to lead Las Vegas' backfield.
Nov 30, 2020
Dealing with ankle sprain
Jacobs suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's 43-6 blowout loss to the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had just seven carries for 27 yards and three catches for 17 yards versus the Falcons, as gamescript and an ankle injury sustained mid-game collaborated to minimize his involvement. He also lost a fumble near the Raiders' own end zone in the third quarter. Jacobs is slated to undergo more medical tests Monday, but Rapoport's note that the injury "sounds like it looked worse than it is" suggests optimism that he could be good to go for Week 13's favorable road matchup against the Jets.
Nov 29, 2020
Loses fumble in blowout loss
Jacobs (ankle) registered 27 rushing yards on seven carries, catching all three of his targets for 17 receiving yards during Sunday's 43-6 loss to Atlanta. He also lost one fumble.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' fumble came at the 1:53 mark of the third quarter, with Las Vegas backed up at its own 10-yard line. The giveaway allowed Atlanta to tack on another field goal to an already dominant 30-6 lead. The second-year pro out of Alabama posted his second-lowest rushing total of the 2020 campaign during Sunday's loss, as the game script heavily restricted his involvement with the Raiders trailing by 13 going into halftime. It's hard to imagine Jacobs' usage fading for the same reason Week 13, as the Raiders travel to MetLife Stadium to face the winless Jets. His ankle will be something to keep an eye on, however, as coach Jon Gruden noted the injury to be of concern postgame, per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com.
Nov 27, 2020
Good to go this week
Jacobs (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was added to the Raiders' Week 12 injury report Thursday when he logged a limited practice. Though he remained limited Friday, the running back now has the green light for Sunday's contest, as does reserve Jalen Richard (chest). Assuming no in-game setbacks, Jacobs will be in line for his usual lead role versus Atlanta, a context that has through ten games resulted in him averaging a fantasy-friendly 19.9 carries for 75.5 yards per game -- to go along with nine TDs -- as well as 2.4 catches for 15.8 yards per contest.
Nov 26, 2020
Added to injury report
Jacobs was added to the Raiders' Week 12 injury report after being listed as limited by a hip issue Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs practiced fully Wednesday, so his addition to the report makes the running back's status worth monitoring as Sunday's game against the Falcons approaches. Also limited Thursday was Jalen Richard (chest), leaving Devontae Booker as the team's top fully healthy option at the position heading into Friday's practice.
Nov 23, 2020
TD salvages modest rushing output
Jacobs rushed 17 times for 55 yards and a touchdown while catching his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 35-31 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was held under 4.0 yards per carry by Kansas City's defense for the second time in as many meetings this year. Unlike their previous meeting back in Week 5, the bruising back saw fewer touches and one less score despite the Raiders playing ahead for the majority of the contest. Perhaps a more run-centric gameplan could have altered the disappointing outcome of the contest for the rising star and the rest of Raider Nation. Despite the inefficient output, Jacobs reached double-digit fantasy points in standard scoring formats for the fourth consecutive week. The 3-7 Falcons are on tap Sunday, but they have been playing better of late, and have been particularly stingy against the run this season (99.0 rushing yards allowed per game).
Nov 15, 2020
Rolls through Broncos in Week 10
Jacobs registered 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, adding four catches for 24 yards during Sunday's 37-12 win against Denver.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs torched the Broncos for 5.3 yards per carry with assistance from five runs of nine yards or more, notching his third multi-TD outing of 2020 in the process. The 2019 No. 24 overall draft choice has garnered 15 or more offensive touches in every game but one this season, as Las Vegas prepares for a rematch with Kansas City in Week 11. The first time these two teams met this season, Jacobs compiled 85 scrimmage yards and two TDs against the Chiefs' 28th-ranked rush defense.
Nov 8, 2020
Finds end zone Sunday
Jacobs carried the ball 14 times for 65 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
After getting a season-high 31 totes last week in Cleveland, Jacobs saw a much smaller workload this time around -- perhaps due to the knee injury that limited him in practice during the week -- and ceded eight carries to Devontae Booker, but he was still able to score his sixth TD of the year on a 14-yard run in the second quarter. Jacobs should see something more like his typical volume of touches in Week 10 against a stingy Broncos run defense.
Nov 8, 2020
Active for Sunday's game
Jacobs (knee/illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is coming off a Week 8 effort in which he logged his biggest workload of the season, racking up 31 carries for 129 yards in the Raiders' 16-6 win over the Browns, which was played in windy and less than balmy conditions in Cleveland. With Sunday's game being played at SoFi Stadium, weather won't factor into the game plan, but in any case, barring any in-game setbacks Jacobs still seems destined to remain fairly busy versus the Chargers, given that he's averaging 21 carries per game to date.
Nov 8, 2020
Expected to play
Jacobs (knee/illness), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was held out of practice Thursday, but returned to the field Friday, albeit in a limited fashion, which bodes well for his status for Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff. The Raiders' top back is coming off a week in which he logged his biggest workload of the season, racking up 31 carries for 129 yards in the team's Week 8 win over the Browns, which was played in windy and less than balmy conditions in Cleveland.
Nov 6, 2020
Listed as questionable
Jacobs (knee/illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's road game against the Chargers after returning to a limited practice Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was held out of practice Thursday, but his return to the field Friday, albeit in a limited fashion, bodes well for his status for Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff. The Raiders' top back is coming off a week in which he logged his biggest workload of the season, racking up 31 carries for 129 yards in the team's Week 8 win over the Browns, which was played in windy and less than balmy conditions in Cleveland. Assuming he's active versus the Chargers, weather won't impact Jacobs' Week 9 usage, with Sunday's game being played at SoFi Stadium.
Nov 6, 2020
Back at practice
Jacobs (knee/illness) returned to practice Friday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was withheld from Thursday's session, but he looks poised to log at least limited activity in the Raiders' final Week 9 practice. The extent of Jacobs' involvement in practice will be revealed later Friday, at which time it will also be known whether he'll carry a designation into Sunday's game against the Chargers. Jacobs is coming off his biggest workload of the season, carrying 31 times for 129 yards in the Raiders' Week 8 win over the Browns after windy conditions prompted head coach John Gruden to largely eschew the passing game.
Nov 5, 2020
Misses practice Thursday
Jacobs (knee/Illness) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was listed as a full participant Wednesday, though he appeared on the Raiders' injury report with a listed knee issue. Per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com, the running back missed Thursday's session due to an illness. We'll circle back on Jacobs' status no later than Friday's practice to determine whether his status for Sunday's game against the Chargers is in any danger.
Nov 1, 2020
Huge workload in Week 8 win
Jacobs registered 128 rushing yards on 31 carries during Sunday's 16-6 win against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 first-round draft choice was coming off his worst NFL rushing performance entering Week 8, as he managed just 17 yards on 10 carries the preceding Sunday against Tampa Bay's No. 1 rush defense. Jacobs may have been held to 25 or fewer receiving yards for the sixth straight game against the Browns, but his Week 8 totals established new season highs in both carries and rush yards. A matchup against the Chargers may slow down Jacobs in Las Vegas' next game, as Los Angeles has allowed just 85.8 rushing yards per contest to opposing RBs this season, surrendering an NFL-low one rushing TD to the position.
Oct 30, 2020
Off final injury report
Jacobs (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was limited in all three of Vegas' practice sessions this week, but he'll be out there on game day. He was stifled by Tampa Bay's league-best run defense last time out, but Jacobs should find more running room against a Browns defense that has allowed either a rushing or receiving touchdown to an opposing running back in all but one game this season.
Oct 29, 2020
Another limited session
Jacobs (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back limited sessions under his belt, what Jacobs is able to do at practice Friday should determine whether he approaches Sunday's game against the Browns listed as questionable, or minus a Week 8 injury designation.
Oct 28, 2020
Logs limited practice
Jacobs (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
So far there's nothing to suggest that Jacobs' status for Sunday's game against the Browns is in any danger. As long as he's good to go this weekend, the running back will look to bounce back from a 10-carry, 17-yard rushing effort in this Sunday's 45-20 loss to the 5-2 Buccaneers, who've allowed a league-low 66 yards per game on the ground to date.
Oct 25, 2020
Stifled on ground in loss
Jacobs rushed 10 times for 17 yards and brought in three of four targets for 14 yards in the Raiders' 45-20 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' rushing prospects weren't exactly bright going into a matchup against the stingiest run defense in the league, but his 1.7 yards per carry average was nevertheless somewhat jarring from a fantasy perspective. The second-year back has now averaged under 4.0 yards per carry in three straight contests, and in five of Las Vegas' six games overall. Jacobs did encouragingly retain a relatively solid role in the passing game Sunday, however, and he'll look to boost his numbers significantly across the board in a Week 8 encounter with the Browns' vulnerable rush defense.
Oct 11, 2020
Helps key big upset
Jacobs rushed 23 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and brought in two of three targets for eight yards in the Raiders' 40-32 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs found running room to often be at a premium against the Chiefs' athletic front seven, with his long run of the day going for just seven yards. However, the second-year back was able to power into the end zone from seven and two yards out in the fourth quarter, and he was able to help ice the victory with that seven-yard run, which forced KC to use its last timeout. Jacobs's pair of scores were his first since Week 1, and he'll look to build on Sunday's effort in a Week 7 matchup against the Buccaneers following a Week 6 bye.
Oct 4, 2020
Held in check by Bills
Jacobs carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards and caught three of four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Buffalo's front seven didn't give Jacobs much room to roam, and his 3.2 yards per carry was his worst single-game average so far this season. The second-year back should be more productive in Week 5 against a Chiefs defense that's given up 5.3 YPC through its first three games.
Sep 27, 2020
Pedestrian in Week 3 loss
Jacobs (hip) rushed 16 times for 71 yards and caught three of four targets for 12 yards while losing a fumble in Sunday's 36-20 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
New England excels at shutting down opposing top players, and that defensive approach coupled with Jacobs playing through a hip injury resulted in a mediocre performance from the young running back. Things don't get much easier with the undefeated Bills coming to town in Week 4, though Buffalo did allow over 100 rushing yards to Rams running back Darrell Henderson on Sunday.
Sep 27, 2020
Suits up Sunday
Jacobs (hip) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Jacobs returned to a limited session Friday and he'll give it a go Sunday. Assuming no in-game issues, he's poised to continue to head the Raiders' backfield versus New England. Through his team's first two games, Jacobs has logged 52 carries for 181 yards and three TDs, while adding seven catches on nine targets for 63 yards.
Sep 27, 2020
Likely to play Sunday
Jacobs (hip) is expected to play Sunday against the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old missed the first two practices of the week but practiced as a limited participant Friday to earn the questionable tag, and he's apparently continued to progress in his recovery from the hip issue. Jacobs has 52 carries and seven receptions for 244 scrimmage yards through two games, and barring a setback he appears poised for another big workload Sunday.
Sep 25, 2020
Listed as questionable after limited practice
Jacobs (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Jacobs returned to a limited session Friday. The same applies to star tight end Darren Waller (knee). We'll have to see if the team was simply exercising caution with two key playmakers, or if their Week 3 status is actually in any danger. Fortunately, the Raiders kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday, so the duo's availability will be clarified in advance of the first wave of NFL kickoffs.
Sep 25, 2020
Back on field Friday
jacobs (hip) returned to practice Friday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs missed the Raiders' first two sessions this week due to a hip injury of unknown severity. Making his presence felt Friday is a good sign that he's trending in the right direction, but ultimately his activity level and listing for Sunday's game at New England won't be known until Las Vegas releases its final Week 3 practice report.
Sep 24, 2020
Misses another practice
Jacobs (hip) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back absences to start the practice week, what Jacobs does Friday will be pivotal with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots. It's still possible that his reps are simply being managed, but if Jacobs ends up out or limited at all this weekend, Jalen Richard and Devontae Booker are next up for the Raiders' backfield touches.
Sep 24, 2020
Not spotted at start of practice
Jacobs (hip) wasn't spotted at the start of Thursday's practice, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll have to see if the running back officially ends up listed as limited or as a non-participant Thursday. If he does go down as a non-participant for the second day in a row, then what Jacobs is able to do on the field Friday will be telling with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Sep 23, 2020
Listed as non-participant Wednesday
Jacobs (hip) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimation.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders' initial injury report of the week is lengthy, but that's not a big surprise with the team having just played Monday. Star tight end Darren Waller (knee) was also listed as a non-participant Wednesday, but we suspect that the duo -- both of whom were busy in the team's Week 2 win over the Saints -- will be able to practice in some capacity Thursday.
Sep 21, 2020
Garners 30 touches
Jacobs rushed 27 times for 88 yards and caught all three of his targets for 17 yards in Monday night's 34-24 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs again saw a lion's share of touches as the centerpiece of Las Vegas' offense. Although he averaged under four yards per carry for the second straight week, Jacobs again benefitted from his huge volume, now topping 85 yards in consecutive outings. The second-year tailback also got involved in the passing game, snagging each ball thrown his way. Even though his fantasy owners will be disappointed by a failed attempt at a one-yard touchdown during the second half, Jacobs' critical role for the Raiders offers great encouragement going into Week 3's game against the Patriots.
Sep 13, 2020
Scores three times
Jacobs carried the ball 25 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1 against Carolina. He also added four receptions for 46 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs found the end zone regularly, with all three of his scores coming from within 10 yards. Also encouraging was his involvement in the receiving game, as Jacobs failed to record four receptions in any contest during his rookie campaign. Jacobs is locked in to a bellcow role for the Raiders and should be a key part of their offense in Week 2 against the Saints.
Aug 16, 2020
Practices Sunday
Jacobs (undisclosed) participated in practice Sunday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was absent from the first three sessions of Raiders camp, but Jon Gruden didn't sound too worried Friday. "They're not out; they're working. You just don't see them," Gruden told Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com, speaking of Jacobs and right tackle Trent Brown (undisclosed). Tafur noted Jacobs ripped off a "couple nice runs so far" Sunday, so the second-year back seems on track for a typical workload in the near future.
Aug 14, 2020
Missing practice
Jacobs (undisclosed) missed his third straight practice Friday,Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, coach Jon Gruden downplayed the reason for the absence of both Jacobs and offensive tackle Trent Brown. "The head coach gets to make a decision or two and you'll see those guys soon enough. They're not out; they're working. You just don't see them." While it's unclear what's keeping the running back off the field, his unspecified issue doesn't sound like something that will linger or impact his Week 1 status.
Jun 23, 2020
Not assured of passing-down work
Jacobs will face competition for pass-catching work from Jalen Richard and rookie Lynn Bowden, ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' receiving and blocking skills were oft-mentioned as a positive coming out of Alabama, but he was mostly used as an early down grinder throughout his rookie season, with 242 carries and 27 targets on 460 offensive snaps. He was Top 10 among qualified rushers in broken tackle rate and average yards after contact, finishing eighth in rushing yards despite missing three games in December with a shoulder injury. Jacobs seemingly had plenty of time to recover during the offseason, but his progression as a fantasy asset could be stalled if Raiders coach Jon Gruden prefers Richard and/or Bowden on passing downs. The team did lose DeAndre Washington's 108 carries and 41 targets from 2019, though half those carries and 46 percent of the targets came in the three games Jacobs missed.
Mar 4, 2020
Ready for more receiving work?
General manager Mike Mayock said the Raiders expect Jacobs (shoulder) to increase his contributions in the passing game during his second pro season.
ANALYSIS
Receiving skill was one of the selling points for Jacobs coming out of Alabama, but he was limited to 20 catches for 166 yards as a rookie, while Jalen Richard took most of the snaps on obvious passing downs en route to 36 receptions for 323 yards. Despite the promising comments from Mayock, it's worth noting that the Raiders gave Richard a two-year, $7 million contract in February. That doesn't mean Jacobs won't see more targets in his second pro season, but it does suggest the team still plans for Richard to have a significant role. There hasn't been any report of Jacobs needing surgery on an injured shoulder after he missed three of the final four games in 2019. His rookie campaign was thoroughly impressive from a rushing standpoint, with 242 carries going for 1,150 yards (4.8 average) and seven touchdowns. Only Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry averaged more rushing yards per game, and Jacobs also finished in the top 10 for both yards after contact per attempt (2.8) and attempts per broken tackle (9.3).

Absent Friday, likely to sit Week 17
Jacobs (shoulder) isn't participating in Friday's practice, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders will make a ruling on Jacobs' status for Sunday's game in Denver shortly after the session concludes, but with the rookie logging no participation in practices Wednesday through Friday, it would be surprising if he suited up in Week 17. If Jacobs ends up sitting out and the Raiders' long-shot playoff bid falls short, he'll wrap up a productive campaign with 1,316 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns. DeAndre Washington is the most likely candidate to lead the Oakland ground attack against the Broncos, while Jalen Richard serves as a change-of-pace option.
Dec 26, 2019
Absent at practice after procedure
Jacobs (shoulder) wasn't present for Thursday's practice, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing two of the Raiders' last three games with a fractured right shoulder, Jacobs' health heading into the regular-season finale became an even bigger question mark when he revealed in an Instagram story that he underwent a procedure Christmas Day. Per Bair, Jacobs later revealed the procedure merely treated a superficial skin infection on his left leg rather than an injury, so overcoming the shoulder issue remains his main priority in advance of Sunday's game in Denver. Jacobs' status for Week 17 won't gain clarity until after Friday's practice, and the rookie would likely need to participate in that session in at least some capacity to have a realistic shot at suiting up against the Broncos.
Dec 26, 2019
Addresses procedure
In the wake of reports that he underwent an unspecified procedure Wednesday night, Jacobs relayed that the issue addressed was not a football injury, rather he was dealing with an infection, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll look for added clarity on the running back's status later Thursday, but Jacobs -- who was sidelined by a lingering shoulder injury in Week 16 -- previously posted an image which suggests that Wednesday's procedure dealt with a lower-leg issue. Meanwhile, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network indicated that Jacobs' procedure "should not affect" his status for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Dec 26, 2019
Reportedly has surgery
Jacobs (shoulder) reported on his Instagram account that he had surgery Wednesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Details aren't available at this point, but presumably this was on his injured shoulder. If so, that would obviously take him out of consideration for playing in Week 17.
Dec 24, 2019
Works during Tuesday's walkthrough
Jacobs (shoulder) participated in Tuesday's walkthrough, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Absent two of the past three games due to a fractured right shoulder plate, Jacobs appears to be putting himself on a path to another appearance before the end of the regular season. Considering the Raiders still have a chance to make the playoffs, however faint it may be, the team would behoove itself by trotting out its optimal offense Week 17. Ultimately, though, Jacobs' activity level the next few days will go a long way toward Oakland's decision-making process. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard are on hand in the event Jacobs again is unavailable to the backfield.
Dec 23, 2019
Could play in season finale
Coach Jon Gruden said Jacobs (shoulder) may be ready for the season finale against the Broncos, Jerry McDonald of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has missed two of the last three games due to a fractured shoulder, but he handled bell-cow duties despite the injury in Week 15's loss to the Jaguars, rushing 24 times for 89 yards and catching to passes for 20 yards. The Raiders haven't been eliminated from playoff contention yet, so the rookie first-round pick's presence would obviously increase their chances of securing the final spot. His practice status will be monitored throughout the upcoming week. If he's ultimately ruled out, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will handle the backfield again.
Dec 18, 2019
Won't play Sunday
Coach Jon Gruden noted Wednesday that Jacobs (shoulder) won't play Sunday against the Chargers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Raiders will hold Jacobs out this week, then see if the running back can give it a go in Week 17 against the Broncos. In Jacobs' absence this weekend, DeAndre Washington is in line to head the team's rushing attack, with Jalen Richard on hand to work in a complementary role.
Dec 16, 2019
Shoulder remains an issue
Coach Jon Gruden acknowledged Monday that Jacobs -- who has been dealing with a shoulder injury since Week 7 -- had a hard time taking off his shoulder pads off after Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Gruden praised the running back's toughness, while suggesting that the status of Jacobs for the coming weeks will continue be in some question. That's not to say that the 6-8 Raiders are inclined to shut Jacobs down, but he'll need to be monitored closely during practice in the coming days to see if his shoulder rebounds well enough for him to play this coming weekend against the Chargers. For now, consider Jacobs -- who carried 24 times for 89 yards and caught two of three targets for 20 yards against Jacksonville -- questionable for Week 16 action.
Dec 15, 2019
Active as expected
Jacobs (shoulder) is active for Sunday's Week 15 tilt against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had predicted he'd be ready to go earlier in the week, and this validates the rookie's pledge. He'll be locked into a premium matchup versus a Jaguars defense that's been shockingly poor against the run this season, allowing 22.7 fantasy points per game to running backs (third most) in standard scoring formats. Jacobs is expected to play without any specific limitations, sending both Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington back into complementary roles.
Dec 15, 2019
Still trending toward playing
Jacobs (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, remains on track to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Week 14 loss to the Titans, Jacobs indicated earlier this week that he intended to resume playing, even though his fractured right shoulder plate still hasn't fully healed. The Raiders were apparently satisfied with the results of Jacobs' recent MRI, and the rookie was further able to restore some faith in his health by practicing on a limited basis Wednesday through Friday. So long as his shoulder cooperates, Jacobs isn't expected to face any specific restrictions with his snap or touch count in Week 15.
Dec 13, 2019
Listed as questionable, plans to play
Jacobs (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars, indicated Friday that he plans to play this weekend, but the running back wouldn't guarantee that outcome, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs added that his shoulder is not slated to require offseason surgery, but noted he'll likely have to rest and rehab for a month or so in order for it to fully heal. As for Sunday's contest, Jacobs seems prepared to tough it out this weekend, but he should still be treated as a game-time decision for the Raiders' 4:05 ET kickoff. In the event that he ends up scratched, or limited at all, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, to a lesser degree, would be in line for added Week 15 touches out of the team's backfield.
Dec 12, 2019
Another limited practice
Jacobs (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is thought to be trending in the right direction after sitting out last weekend's loss to the Titans. The Raiders' top back is still likely to be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, in any case.
Dec 12, 2019
Stretching Thursday
Jacobs (shoulder) took part in the team stretch during the part of Thursday's practice open to the media, Myles Simmons of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was held out Week 14 due to a fractured plate in his right shoulder, which he initially suffered in the Raiders' Week 7 loss in Green Bay. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, a subsequent MRI revealed positive results, giving Jacobs a good shot to keep his DNP stretch to just one game. After logging a limited session Wednesday, Jacobs appears as if he'll at least match that activity level one day later. Thursday's injury report will reveal whether he was 'limited' or 'full'.
Dec 11, 2019
Practices in a limited fashion
Jacobs (shoulder) logged a limited practice Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' participation to start the team's practice week is a good sign, but coach Jon Gruden has yet to sign off on the running back returning to action Sunday against the Jaguars. "Today, he's made some improvement, but he still has to go to there and move explosively tomorrow and Friday and do the things a running back has to do to play in this league and protect himself in this league," Gruden noted Wednesday of the 2019 first-rounder. "So, we'll see what happens in the next 48 hours." If Jacobs is able to suit up this weekend, then DeAndre Washington would presumably be in line to revert to a complementary role after heading the Raiders' backfield in Week 14's loss to the Titans.
Dec 11, 2019
Good news via MRI
Jacobs (shoulder) received favorable results from his MRI on Wednesday and is expected to retake the field Week 15, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs sat out Week 14's tilt against the Titans due to a fracture of his shoulder plate, an injury which he's been battling since Oct. 20. Due to the encouraging results of his MRI, the standout rookie looks on track to retake the field after just a one-game absence. That said, the Raiders will certainly monitor Jacobs for any setbacks throughout the week's trio of practices. Jacobs did prove productive throughout the six games he played while nursing the shoulder injury, compiling 566 total yards and three touchdowns during those contests, so it's not difficult to imagine him reprising his usual workhorse role if cleared to suit up versus Jacksonville on Sunday. Change-of-pace options Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington will wait in the wings in the event that the 21-year-old is ultimately limited in any capacity.
Dec 8, 2019
Inactive as expected
Jacobs (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's Week 14 tilt against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
This announcement makes official what had been increasingly expected throughout the day, with the news that Jacobs is dealing with a fracture of his shoulder plate coming out earlier in the weekend dampening the rookie's outlook. In his absence, change-of-pace options Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington will be tasked with filling Jacobs' shoes and will likely operate in tandem to soak up the significant workload the latter had been enjoying.
Dec 8, 2019
Not expected to play
Jacobs (shoulder) is not in line to be active Sunday against the Titans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Jacobs' status will arrive upon the release of the Raiders' inactives in advance of Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff, but in his expected absence, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard are slated to handle the Raiders' Week 14 rushing duties. Rapoport adds that Jacobs has an MRI on tap in the coming days.
Dec 8, 2019
Seen as game-time decision
The Raiders are viewing Jacobs (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's tilt with the Titans, as a true game-time decision, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs revealed earlier this week through social media that he's been battling a fractured plate in his right shoulder since the Oct. 20 game against Green Bay. While the rookie has been plenty effective over the Raiders' subsequent six games (566 total yards, three touchdowns), the injury has limited his practice time and looks like it's becoming more difficult for him to manage. He sat out the Raiders' first two practices of Week 14 before returning in a limited capacity for Friday's walk-through session, rendering him more of a tossup to suit up Sunday than compared to previous weeks. The Raiders will presumably put Jacobs through a pregame workout before revealing whether he'll be active or inactive 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 6, 2019
Questionable for Week 14
Jacobs (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing the Raiders' first two practices of the week with the fractured right shoulder he's been playing through for the past month and a half, Jacobs only put in limited work during Friday's walk-through session. The rookie's status thus appears to be on shakier ground than it has in recent weeks, and the fact that the Raiders kick off among the late wave of games Sunday (at 4:25 p.m ET) provides an added wrinkle that his fantasy managers will have to take into account. In the event the shoulder issue sidelines Jacobs for the first time all season, coach Jon Gruden said that reserve backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington and even fullback Alec Ingold are capable of picking up the slack.
Dec 6, 2019
Returns to practice
Jacobs (shoulder) was on the field for the start of Friday's walk-through practice, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders will reveal later Friday if Jacobs was a limited or full participant in the session, as well as noting whether or not the rookie will carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Titans. Jacobs sat out the Raiders' first two practices of the week with what he revealed to be a fractured right shoulder, an injury he's been able to play through since the Raiders' Oct. 20 loss to Green Bay.
Dec 5, 2019
Not present for practice
Jacobs (shoulder) wasn't spotted at the portion of Thursday's practice that was open to the media, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs is slated to go down as a non-participant in practice for the second straight day, a development that creates more concern about his status for Sunday's game against the Titans than compared to previous weeks. The rookie admitted earlier this week that he's been playing through a fractured right shoulder since the Raiders' Oct. 20 loss to the Packers, but the injury hamper his effectiveness in the following six games, as he racked up 507 yards (4.7 per carry) and three touchdowns over that stretch. The Raiders will presumably see what Jacobs is able to do during their final practice session of the week Friday before commenting on his availability for the game with Tennessee.
Dec 4, 2019
Playing through shoulder injury
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the running back revealed on social media this week that he's been toughing it out through a fractured right shoulder since sustaining the injury in Week 7. "I just play on it," Jacobs noted Wednesday. We'd expect Jacobs to return to a limited practiced Thursday and suit up Sunday against the Titans, however. Despite his ongoing shoulder issue, the rookie back has carried 218 times for 1,061 yards and seven TDs in 12 games to date to go along with 18 catches for 146 yards. In his most recent outing, Jacobs logged 17 rushes for 104 yards in this past Sunday's 40-9 loss to the Chiefs.
Nov 29, 2019
Cleared to face Kansas City
Jacobs (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
As has become the routine of late, Jacobs was listed as a limited practice participant all week as the Raiders continue to manage his reps, with an eye toward having their top back fresh and ready for game days. Though the Jets held Jacobs to 34 yards on 10 carries in their blowout win over Oakland in Week 12, the 2019 first-rounder looks poised for a bounce back against the Chiefs, who have surrendered 143.1 yards per game on the ground thus far. Only the Dolphins (148.2) and Bengals (166.3) are allowing more.
Nov 28, 2019
Listed as limited Thursday
Jacobs (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
We'll revisit Jacobs' status Friday, but we expect the Raiders' top back to approach Sunday's game against the Chiefs minus an injury designation, despite his continued practice limitations.
Nov 27, 2019
Listed as limited
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimation, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs continues to manage a shoulder issue, but based on how things have played out over the last few weeks, we'd expect the Raiders' top back to approach Sunday's game against the Chiefs minus an injury designation.
Nov 22, 2019
Good to go against Jets
Jacobs (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was listed as a limited practice participant this week as the Raiders continue to manage the running back's reps as he continues to work through a shoulder issue. It's nothing that's hampered his workload in games of late, as evidenced by Week 11's 23-carry, 112-yard rushing effort against the 0-10 Bengals. Jacobs does, however, have a tougher matchup on tap Sunday, given that the 3-7 Jets are allowing a league-low average of 79.1 yards per game on the ground.
Nov 21, 2019
Still limited at practice
Jacobs (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll check back on Jacobs' status Friday, but there's a pretty solid chance he'll approach Sunday's game against the Jets minus an injury designation, despite his ongoing listed practice limitations.
Nov 20, 2019
Limited at practice Wednesday
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimation, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs has been managing a shoulder issue of late, but despite his limitations at practice over the last two weeks, he approached both of the Raiders' last two outings minus an injury designation. We expect that trend to continue this week, in advance of Sunday's game against the Jets.
Nov 15, 2019
Cleared for Week 11 action
Jacobs (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Sunday's home game against Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was listed as a limited practice participant all week as he continues to manage a shoulder issue, but he'll be out there Sunday and assuming no in-game setbacks, he'll look to take advantage of a prime match-up in in Week 11. To date, the 0-9 Bengals have allowed a league-high 173.0 yards per game on the ground.
Nov 14, 2019
Another limited practice
Jacobs (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
We expect Jacobs to be a go Sunday against the Bengals, but he'll probably have to log a full practice Friday to approach the contest minus a Week 11 injury designation.
Nov 13, 2019
Limited at practice Wednesday
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports/
ANALYSIS
Jacobs managed a shoulder issue leading up to last Thursday's 26-24 win over the Chargers before logging 30 of a possible 58 snaps on offense, en route to carrying 16 times for 71 yards and a TD and catching three passes for 30 yards. With no reported setbacks in that contest, we'll presume for now that Jacobs' limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related.
Nov 5, 2019
Turns in full workout
Jacobs (shoulder) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' unrestricted showing clears up any concern about his health heading into Thursday's game against the Chargers. The rookie should be in store for another sizable workload after earning no fewer than 17 touches in any of the Raiders' past five games.
Nov 4, 2019
Limited on practice estimate
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice estimate, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Raiders didn't hold a practice Monday, and Jacobs likely would've had a cap on his reps if they did. The rookie first-round pick has been dealing with this shoulder injury since Week 7's loss to the Packers, but he hasn't been held back, as he rushed a season-high 28 times for 120 yards and two scores in this past Sunday's win over the Lions. At this time, there's no reason to think he won't be ready for Thursday's matchup against the Chargers.
Nov 1, 2019
Good to go in Week 9
Jacobs (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was limited at practice all week as he manages a shoulder issue, but it's something he played through in Week 8's loss to the Texans, en route leading the Raiders' backfield with 15 carries for 66 yards and two catches for 15 yards. He'll look to up his production Sunday against a Lions defense that is allowing an average of 130.7 rushing yards per game to date, which ranks 26th in the NFL.
Oct 31, 2019
Another limited practice Thursday
Jacobs (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs didn't practice last week until Friday, so he's already well ahead of where he was this time last week, on the heels of back-to-back limited sessions. We expect the running back to be out there for Sunday's 4:05 ET tilt against the Lions, but there's a decent chance the Raiders will officially list him as questionable on their final Week 9 injury report.
Oct 30, 2019
Limited by shoulder issue
Jacobs (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs played through his shoulder issue in this past Sunday's loss to the Texans while leading the Raiders' backfield, en route to recording 15 carries for 66 yards and catching both of his targets for 15 yards. With no reported setbacks in that contest, we'll assume his limitations Wednesday were simply a case of the team managing his practice reps in advance of this weekend's tilt against the Lions.
Oct 27, 2019
Ready to roll Week 8
Jacobs (shoulder) is active for Sunday's Week 8 tilt against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
This development was increasingly expected, with multiple late-week and weekend reports indicating Jacobs was trending in the right direction. The impressive rookie should be available for his usual workload in Week 8 against a relatively tough Texans run defense.
Oct 25, 2019
Listed as questionable, but coach is optimistic
Jacobs (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's 4:25 ET game against the Texans after returning to a limited practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Per Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle, coach Jon Gruden tentatively expects Jacobs -- who has been dealing with a sore shoulder -- to play this weekend, "but we'll have to see how it goes." Next up for carries for the Raiders in the event that Jacobs is limited or made a surprise inactive against Houston on Sunday are DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.
Oct 24, 2019
Not seen at practice
Jacobs (shoulder) wasn't spotted on the field for Thursday's practice, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs' availability for Sunday's game against the Texans is beginning to look dicey with the running back having now missed both of the Raiders' first two practices of the week. Coach Jon Gruden noted Wednesday that Jacobs is still feeling sore coming out of the Raiders' Week 7 loss to the Packers, so the running back will be extended another day of rest with the hope it helps resolve the issue. The Raiders will decide whether Jacobs will carry a designation into the Week 8 matchup at the conclusion of Friday's practice.
Oct 23, 2019
Shoulder still sore
Coach Jon Gruden said that Jacobs is "still very sore" due to a shoulder injury he suffered Sunday against the Packers, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back didn't practice Wednesday, but given that he toughed it out after sustaining the injury this past Sunday, he has a shot to play this weekend against the Texans, provided he's able to return to practice Thursday or Friday. Next up for carries for the Raiders in the event that Jacobs is limited or out against Houston are DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.
Oct 3, 2019
Elevates to full practice
Jacobs (elbow) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs was limited in the Raiders' first session of the week Wednesday due to the elbow issue, but there was never much concern about his availability for Sunday's game against the Bears in London. Jacobs' upgrade to full work in practice supports the notion that he'll suit up this weekend and once again lead the Oakland backfield.
Oct 2, 2019
Limited to begin week
Jacobs was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to an elbow injury.
ANALYSIS
The severity of Jacobs' injury remains undisclosed at this time, but it's certainly a positive sign that he wasn't held out of practice entirely. Jacobs' participation in practice Thursday and Friday will warrant close monitoring as Sunday's tilt against the Bears approaches. The rookie first-round pick has reached or exceeded 99 total yards in three of four games this season.
Sep 20, 2019
Cleared to play Sunday
Jacobs (groin/hip) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Vikings after practicing fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
The running back's return to a full practice Friday sets the stage for him to move past groin and hip issues, as well as an illness that led to him dropping weight, in order to head the Raiders' Week 3 backfield. We'd expect the team to give him all the early-down work he can handle Sunday, while DeAndre Washington remain on hand to serve as backup/change-of-pace options.
Sep 19, 2019
Drops weight due to illness
Jacobs, who has been dealing with a groin injury, indicated that he's also been under the weather of late and has dropped 10 pounds, NBC Sports California reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs logged a limited practice Wednesday and that figures to be the case again Thursday. At this point, however, his status for Sunday's game against the Vikings does not appear in danger, with the potential concern being that he may be operating at less than 100 percent this weekend. In Week 2's loss to the Chiefs, in additional to battling through his groin issue, Jacobs left the contest "for a bit to get an IV."
Sep 18, 2019
Listed as limited Wednesday
Jacobs (groin) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
We'll continue to track Jacobs' status in the coming days, but ESPN's Paul Gutierrez notes that the rookie back played through his groin issue this past Sunday against the Chiefs. Barring any setbacks, we'd expect Jacobs -- who was quoted afterward as saying "I don't want to be labeled as a soft back" -- to be available this coming weekend against the Vikings.
