After ending 2022 as the Titans' starter, Dobbs signed with the Browns as a free agent but was traded to the Cardinals just ahead of Week 1. He started the first eight games of the season for Arizona but was acquired by the Vikings near the trade deadline after Minnesota lost Kirk Cousins to a season-ending Achilles' tear. Dobbs appeared in five games (four starts) for the Vikings before being benched in favor of Nick Mullens to close out the year. Dobbs had a turnover problem in 2023, giving the ball away 17 times across 13 games. He's scheduled to be a free agent in March and will likely only attract backup work.

O'Connell is giving Dobbs a break, but there's a chance we could see him under center again if Mullens and Hall fail to impress.

It was the lowest-scoring game in the NFL since 2007, and Mullens led Minnesota to the only scoring drive on his second possession after taking over, taking the Vikings 56 yards for their only trip into the red zone to set up a 36-yard Greg Joseph field goal. Hockenson, but Justin Fields ultimately one-upped him by leading a game-winning drive. Dobbs takes a 13:10 TD:INT (4:5 in four games with Minnesota) into a Week 14 road matchup against the Raiders on Dec. 10 following a Week 13 bye.

Dobbs completed 20 of 32 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed eight times for 21 yards and another score in the Vikings' 21-20 loss to the Broncos on Sunday night. He also committed three fumbles, losing one and recovering the other two.

Dobbs turned in another serviceable performance from an overall production standpoint, but his ball security issues Sunday night stood out. The journeyman signal-caller's two turnovers led to Broncos field goals, and after leading the Vikings to three points on a marathon 14-play drive in the fourth quarter, Dobbs couldn't help Minnesota answer Denver's go-ahead touchdown, throwing four straight incompletions to close out his team's final possession. Nevertheless, Dobbs has job security and the possible return of Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on his side as he looks ahead to a Week 12 divisional home clash with the Bears on Monday night, Nov. 27.

Though Dobbs should benefit from a more typical practice schedule this week as he prepares to start Sunday, he may need a solid showing versus New Orleans to ensure he remains the Vikings' No. 1 quarterback. Nick Mullens (back) is on injured reserve but is eligible to resume practicing this week, and he and Hall could serve as challengers to Dobbs for starting duties following Kirk Cousins' (Achilles) season-ending injury.

He also had seven carries for 66 yards and a touchdown. He led the Vikings on a game-winning touchdown drive with two minutes and eight seconds left.

Dobbs put together an amazing performance considering he only joined the team on Wednesday after his trade from Arizona. He wasn't expected to play in the game since he was just getting up to speed on the playbook, but served as the backup. He started off poorly by taking a sack in the end zone for a safety and also losing a fumble early in the game. However, his rushing ability made a huge impact especially on a key fourth-down play late in the game. Dobbs will likely be the starter the rest of the season after this performance.

Two days removed from Arizona coach Jonathan Gannon reaffirming Dobbs' status as the team's starting quarterback and then rescinding it one day later, Dobbs is on the move to a QB-needy team after the Vikings lost Kirk Cousins for the season to a torn Achilles this past Sunday. It's unclear if Dobbs will start over rookie fifth-round pick Jaren Hall immediately, but the veteran at least will have three days to practice with his new team before new coach Kevin O'Connell will need to make such a decision.

Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that Dobbs won't start Sunday's game in Cleveland, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

After Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens, Gannon told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com that Dobbs would remain the team's starter Week 9, but after reviewing the tape, he's opted to move on to Kyler Murray or rookie Clayton Tune. Murray is closing in on a return to action from last season's torn ACL, but if he doesn't gain clearance to play Sunday, it'll be Tune under center for Arizona. Through eight games this season, Dobbs has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,569 yards, eight touchdown and five interceptions, recorded 47 carries for 258 yards and three more TDs and fumbled eight times (four lost).

Dobbs completed 25 of 37 pass attempts for 208 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 26 rushing yards and another score on six attempts in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens.

Dobbs earned another start after Kyler Murray (knee) was ruled doubtful for Sunday's matchup against Baltimore. The backup orchestrated a late comeback attempt with two touchdown throws in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals life after trailing by multiple scores for the majority of the contest. Dobbs did throw two more interceptions Sunday, which gives him 10 combined touchdowns to nine turnovers through eight starts this year. Despite inconsistent play and Murray's improving health, head coach Jonathan Gannon said after Sunday's loss that he is sticking with Dobbs as the starter for next Sunday's game against the Browns, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Browns boast one of the league's top pass defenses at the midpoint of the season, adding additional risk to starting Dobbs in fantasy in Week 9.

Dobbs is in line to start Sunday's game against Baltimore after the Cardinals listed Kyler Murray (knee) as doubtful, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

It may end up being Dobbs' last start of the season, considering Murray was a full practice participant throughout the week and no longer is listed with a knee injury on Arizona's official injury report. The task won't be easy, with Baltimore leading or tied for the league lead in a slew of defensive stats, including net yards allowed per pass attempt (4.1), TD passes allowed (four) and points against (97).

Dobbs worked with the starting offense during the open portion of Friday's practice while Kyler Murray continued throwing to practice-squad players, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

It's unclear if this means Dobbs is scheduled for another start or is just an effort by coach Jonathan Gannon to create that impression. Murray was removed from the injury report Thursday and will need to either be re-added Friday or activated from PUP to the roster, but it is possible he'd merely handle a backup role in his first game since last November. Gannon said "we'll see" Friday morning when reporters asked him which QB would start this Sunday against the Ravens.

Dobbs struggled as a passer for the second week in a row, resulting in his third game without a passing touchdown in seven starts this season. The 28-year-old was able to salvage his day from a fantasy standpoint by ripping off a 25-yard touchdown scamper on Arizona's lone touchdown drive Sunday. The journeyman backup is averaging 33.1 rushing yards through seven weeks, but he appears to be overmatched as a passer in the rare instances he is given a clean pocket. Kyler Murray (knee) might not be ready until Week 10, giving Dobbs at least a couple more starts for the 1-5 Cardinals, starting with a home matchup against Baltimore next Sunday.

Dobbs completed 21 of 41 passes for 235 yards with no touchdowns and one interception and rushed seven times for 47 yards in the Cardinals' 26-9 loss to the Rams on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

After completing at least 67.7 percent of his passes in each of the first five games of the season, Dobbs struggled with accuracy for the second straight game following his season-low 46.9 percent completion rate in Week 5 against the Bengals, and he saw his multi-touchdown streak snapped at two games. Dobbs did complete passes to eight different players and paced the Cardinals on the ground with his fourth tally of more than 40 rushing yards in the last five games. The journeyman signal-caller does draw a more palatable matchup in a Week 7 road divisional clash versus the Seahawks.

Dobbs completed 15 of 32 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Bengals.

He also gained one yard on three carries and lost a fumble. The two TDs both came in the second quarter and gave the Cardinals a 14-10 lead, but Dobbs then threw a pick-six to Cam Taylor-Britt just before halftime and Arizona never recovered. The INTs were the first of the season for Dobbs, but his 6:2 TD:INT is still impressive for a QB who was a career backup coming into 2023. He'll look to take better care of the ball in Week 6 against the Rams.

Dobbs turned in his best fantasy start through four games this season despite losing by several scores to San Francisco. It was the 28-year-old journeyman's first game of his career with multiple passing touchdowns, as he continues to start in place of the injured Kyler Murray (knee). Dobbs' ability to take off from the pocket and provide rushing stats in addition to his middling passing results puts him on the fringe of fantasy utility through four weeks. Dobbs will now return to Arizona to take on a struggling Bengals squad next Sunday.

Dobbs completed 17 of 21 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Cowboys. He added 55 rushing yards on six carries.

Facing a Dallas defense that had dominated the opposition through its first two games, Dobbs rarely seemed rattled as he led Arizona to three touchdowns and three field goals, including a two-yard TD toss to Marquise Brown in the fourth quarter that all but sealed the victory. Dobbs has looked good so far in his first extended stretch as a starting QB, but he faces a daunting task in Week 4 on the road against the 49ers.

Dobbs completed 21 of 31 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown while adding 41 rushing yards and a TD on three carries in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Giants. He also ran in a two-point conversion.

It was only the third start of Dobbs' career after he was under center for the Titans' final two games of 2022, and considering he didn't even join the Cardinals until late August, his lack of production isn't a surprise. Unless coach Jonathan Gannon decides to switch to rookie QB Clayton Tune, Dobbs will look to make a bigger impact in a Week 2 home tilt against the Giants.

Dobbs has taken the snaps with the first-team offense during warmups, signaling that he'll serve as the Cardinals' starting quarterback in Sunday's game against the Commanders, Dani Sureck of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Though first-year head coach Jonathan Gannon never officially named a starting quarterback, multiple reports over the past few days had already pointed in the direction of Dobbs getting the nod over rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune. Dobbs will be making just the third start of his seven-year career Sunday, after the first two game late last season with the Titans. In his sparse NFL action to date, Dobbs has completed 50 of 85 pass attempts (58.8 percent) for 456 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions to go with 14 carries for 75 yards in eight games. The Cardinals will likely lean heavily on the James Conner-led ground attack for as long as Sunday's game remains competitive, which may render Dobbs as little more than a low-end fantasy option even in leagues that start two quarterbacks.

The Cardinals are expected to have Dobbs under center for their season opener this Sunday at Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Since the Steelers drafted Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 Draft, he's played in just eight games with two starts, both with the Titans last season. In those latter contests, he completed 40 of 68 passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing eight times for 44 yards. Dobbs hasn't had much time to get acclimated to Arizona's playbook following his trade from Cleveland on Aug. 24, but he appears as if he'll get the first chance to start for the recovering Kyler Murray (knee) to kick off the 2023 campaign. Behind Dobbs, rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune will serve as the team's No. 2 QB.

Dobbs faces a wide open opportunity to earn the Week 1 starting job at Washington with Arizona having released Coly McCoy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Dobbs, who joined the Cardinals via a trade from Cleveland last Thursday, is the likeliest option to start with McCoy out of the picture and Kyler Murray (knee) expected to start the regular season on the PUP list. Rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune represents his top competition, and though Dobbs will only have a few weeks and zero preseason reps to acquaint himself with Arizona's offense, he did play under offensive coordinator Drew Petzing last season in Cleveland. The Cardinals remain quiet regarding Murray's expected return date, so the combination of Dobbs and Tune could remain atop the depth chart beyond the first month of the season.

The Browns are slated to trade Dobbs to the Cardinals along with a 2024 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for a 2024 fifth-rounder, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

As a result, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kellen Mond, who Cabot reports was pulled back off of waivers by the Browns, are in line to back up Deshaun Watson. With the Cardinals, Dobbs provides his new team with another potential starting QB option in the event that Kyler Murray (knee) misses time early on this season.

Coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Thursday that Dobbs will open the coming season as the Browns' No. 2 QB, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

With Kellen Mond having been waived Thursday, 2023 fifth-rounder Dorian Thompson-Robinson slots in as the team's QB3 ahead of Week 1. Dobbs is thus next in line for regular season signal-caller reps in the event that starter Deshaun Watson misses any time.

Dobbs, who is currently the Browns' No. 2 quarterback will get the night off, as the Browns opt to take a closer look at Kellen Mond and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

The Browns and Dobbs agreed to terms on a one-year contract Monday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Dobbs served as Cleveland's backup quarterback to Jacoby Brissett during Deshaun Watson's 11-game suspension to begin last season. But the team cut Dobbs to make room on the roster for Watson in late November, and he eventually followed a stint on the Lions' practice squad with another on the Titans' active roster. With the latter, Dobbs started over rookie Malik Willis in Weeks 17 and 18, completing 40 of 68 passes (58.8 percent) for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing eight times for 44 yards. Now that he's back with the Browns, he'll serve as the No. 2 QB behind Watson with Brissett having moved on to the Commanders in free agency.

Dobbs completed 20 of 29 passes for 179 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Saturday's 20-16 loss to Jacksonville. He added five rushes for 32 yards.

Dobbs drew his second consecutive start, this time with the AFC South title on the line. He performed admirably for much of the game, highlighted by a 21-yard dart to Chigoziem Okonkwo for a touchdown midway through the second quarter. However, Dobbs made a vital mistake with only three minutes remaining in the matchup when he fumbled while being sacked, which the Jacksonville defense returned for the game-winning touchdown. Dobbs spent the majority of the season as the backup quarterback in Cleveland, and he'll likely stick in a similar role in 2023.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said Monday that Dobbs will start Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.

With Ryan Tannehill (ankle) sidelined, Malik Willis drew the start in Week 16, but after a disappointing loss to Houston, Tennessee opted to give Dobbs a chance in Week 17. While the Titans still lost to Dallas, Vrabel said he liked Dobbs' decision making during the contest and will give the veteran backup another opportunity during Sunday's AFC South title match against Jacksonville. Dobbs' 232 passing yards in Thursday's loss to the Cowboys were just two fewer than Willis has mustered in his first three NFL starts combined. Willis has more long-term upside, but in a win-and-in scenario against the AFC South rival Jaguars, Dobbs is likely the front-runner to get the starting nod. "That's the only thing that matters, is winning one game," Vrabel said. "Getting healthy, getting recovered and then winning one game, and finding out who is going to do that."

Dobbs completed 20 of 39 passes for 232 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing three times for 12 yards in the Titans' 27-13 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night. He also committed two fumbles, losing one and recovering the other.

Dobbs barely completed half his pass attempts and his two turnovers were a blemish, but given the brief amount of time he had to prepare and his opponent, the veteran signal-caller acquitted himself reasonably well. The 2017 fourth-round pick of the Steelers connected with Robert Woods for his one touchdown from seven yards out late in the third quarter, and he completed passes to nine different players overall. Dobbs is slated to return to the No. 2 role for a Week 18 road matchup against the Jaguars a week from Sunday that will decide the AFC South title, unless head coach Mike Vrabel feels Thursday's performance made enough of a case for Dobbs to usurp the unsteady Malik Willis for the start in that game.

Dobbs is slated to start at QB for the Titans in Thursday night's game against the Cowboys, John Glennon of SI.com reports.

Thursday's contest doesn't have playoff implications for the Titans -- who will face the Jaguars in Week 18 with the AFC South title on the line - so the team is in line give Dobbs an opportunity to make his first career NFL regular season start in a game in which multiple key players are being held out. With that in mind, Dobbs is an option for those who had been planning to use Malik Willis (Tennessee's Week 16 starter in place of Ryan Tannehill, who was placed on IR on Thursday) in fantasy lineups, or who are otherwise scrambling for a Week 17 signal-caller in QB-heavy formats. With a solid showing versus Dallas, Dobbs could potentially find himself in the starting mix a week from Sunday against Jacksonville.

The Titans are expected to start Dobbs at QB versus the Cowboys on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

With Ryan Tannehill (ankle) ruled out, it looks like the Titans are in line to start Dobbs rather than Malik Willis, with the team likely to rest a number of key players with an eye toward being as healthy as possible for a looming AFC South title showdown against the Jaguars in Week 18.

Dobbs was signed by the Titans off of the Lions' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Dobbs was reverted to the Lions' practice unit after being active for the team's Week 15 win over the Jets, but he will now head to Tennessee. The quarterback could serve as the backup option behind Malik Willis in Week 16 if Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is unable to go versus Houston. Dobbs last attempted a regular season pass in 2020, spending most of his time on practice squads the last few years.

Dobbs reverted to the Lions' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Dobbs was elevated from the practice squad for the first time since joining Detroit's practice squad two weeks ago, serving as one of the team's three active quarterbacks alongside starter Jared Goff and backup Nate Sudfeld. However, Goff went on to play all 68 of the team's offensive snaps as expected. Dobbs will now be eligible for two more game-day activations while with the Lions this season.

Dobbs was elevated to the active roster Saturday.

Dobbs will now play in his first game with Lions after signing with their practice squad two weeks ago. The former Tennessee quarterback will serve as the third-string option behind Jared Goff and Nate Sudfeld and should only see playing time if either of them were to get injured.

Detroit signed Dobbs to its practice squad Monday.

Just a week after being waived by Cleveland, Dobbs has found another opportunity to make an impression with the Lions. Barring injury though, it's unlikely he's elevated from the practice squad any time soon.

Dobbs started and played the entire first half as well as Cleveland's opening series of the third quarter. He led the Browns to scores on each of his four drives, including a three-yard touchdown rush of his own during the first quarter. After a successful showing, Dobbs handed a 20-14 lead over to Josh Rosen, who subsequently completed just 7 of 20 passes for 88 yards. Based on that contrast, it's fair to say Dobbs outperformed Rosen, as the pair compete to serve as Jacoby Brissett's backup heading into the regular season, when fellow quarterback Deshaun Watson will be suspended for the first 11 games.

Dobbs will start Sunday's preseason game against the Eagles.

With Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett not in line to play Sunday, Dobbs will draw the start versus Philadelphia, with Josh Rosen next in line to see QB snaps. Given that Watson will be suspended to begin the 2022 season, as things stand either Dobbs or Rosen are in line to serve as Brissett's top backup in Week 1.

Dobbs had a tryout with the Ravens earlier in the week, but he'll sign with another AFC North team. He hasn't taken the field since 2020 since he missed last season due to a toe injury, but he's healthy heading into the offseason and will compete for a depth role behind starter Deshaun Watson heading into 2022.

Dobbs missed the 2021 season with a toe injury, but it appears the injury is behind him. The 27-year-old last suited up for the Steelers in 2020, where he played a total of nine snaps. The Ravens currently have no one behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley on their quarterback positional depth chart, so there is room for Dobbs on the roster, if he impressed enough in his workout.

The Steelers placed Dobbs (toe) on injured reserve Tuesday, Ed Bouchette of The Athletic reports.

Dobbs is dealing with a toe injury, and the timing of the transaction rules him out for the 2021 season, barring an injury settlement. For the time being, the Steelers have both Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins on the roster behind Ben Roethlisberger.

Dobbs sustained a toe injury during Friday's preseason loss at Carolina, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Dobbs didn't get on the field until the Steelers' second drive of the second half, entering the game after a miserable performance from Dwayne Haskins. During his four drives, Dobbs went 6-for-11 for 35 passing yards and had a 12-yard carry before exiting and handing the offense back to Haskins. According to coach Mike Tomlin, Dobbs may have a turf toe injury, which, if he's diagnosed as such, could keep the fifth-year pro sidelined for some time and give Haskins a direct path to the No. 3 QB job behind Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph.

Dobbs didn't see the field with the Jaguars in 2019.

Dobbs was acquired by the Jaguars from the Steelers after Nick Foles broke his collarbone in the season opener, but rookie Gardner Minshew played extremely well in Foles' absence and eventually took full control of the starting job. All three quarterbacks remain under contract for 2020, leaving Dobbs as the low man on the totem pole with minimal job security.
