Justice Hill Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Jets vs Ravens game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 14, 2025
Won't play against Browns
Hill (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, Hill returned to a limited practice Friday, but he'll sit this one out and target a possible return to action Nov. 23 against the Jets. In his absence versus Cleveland, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali will be available to handle Week 11 backfield touches that don't go to Baltimore's top RB, Derrick Henry.
Nov 14, 2025
Participating in Friday's practice
Hill (toe) returned to practice Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of the The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens will release their injury report later Friday, at which point Hill's participation level will be clarified. He'll likely carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Browns after being unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday, though Hill may be able to avoid one if he practices without limitations Friday.
Nov 13, 2025
Misses another practice Thursday
Hill (toe) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill also missed Wednesday's session, so what the running back does Friday will loom large in terms of his Week 11 status. If Hill is limited or out Sunday against the Browns, Keaton Mitchell likely would see added snaps behind lead back Derrick Henry, provided he's able to play through the knee issue that limited him Wednesday.
Nov 12, 2025
No practice Wednesday
Hill missed Wednesday's practice with a toe injury.
ANALYSIS
Fellow running back Keaton Mitchell (knee) was a limited participant, and he'd likely take on a larger role if Hill were to miss Sunday's matchup with Cleveland. Mitchell's emergence as a change-of-pace back in recent weeks has sapped some of Hill's fantasy value, though Hill still dominates snaps in clear passing situations (and scored a TD on his lone carry last week).
Nov 10, 2025
Scores touchdown Sunday
Hill took his lone carry for a one-yard touchdown and added a 12-yard reception in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens used Hill a bit more than they did in Week 9 when the veteran played a season-low 11 snaps. Hill was out there for 19 snaps on offense, which was 27% of the plays. He only had two touches but made the most of them by scoring a touchdown on his only carry and picking up a first down on his one catch. Hill's goal-line carry was his first such carry of the season and his first red zone carry since Week 4. He remains a part of the offense, but he rarely sees even five touches in a given game.
Oct 31, 2025
Snap count ticks down Thursday
Hill had a two-yard carry and added two receptions for 13 yards in Thursday's win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Hill's 11 snaps marked a season low as Baltimore deployed Keaton Mitchell for roughly the same number of plays as the veteran. Lamar Jackson targeted Hill twice, and he managed to bring both in for receptions. Through eight games, Hill has just one game with more than 20 rushing yards, and his pass-catching has tapered off since the bye with just two combined targets in his last two games. Baltimore heads to Minnesota in Week 10.
Oct 27, 2025
Usage drops off in win
Hill had one carry for two yards and drew zero targets on 19 snaps in Sunday's win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore leaned on Derrick Henry as the primary running back Sunday, and even when Hill was in, he wasn't a featured part of the offense. Hill's usage is volatile week-to-week and depends on game script where Baltimore needs to utilize his blitz pickup and pass-catching skills. Another looming threat to Hill's usage was the reintroduction of Keaton Mitchell to the backfield. Mitchell played just seven snaps but had a strong usage rate with four carries for 43 yards. Hill's role won't be deleted from the offense because he offers elements that Henry and Mitchell do not, but his snap counts could take a hit going forward if Mitchell continues to shine.
Oct 13, 2025
Five receptions in loss
Hill rushed the ball six times for 16 yards in Sunday's 17-3 loss to the Rams. He added five receptions on six targets for 28 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens ran a run-heavy offense as long as possible, giving Hill a chance to mix in on possessions to relieve Derrick Henry. Hill saw a season-high six carries as a result, but he made a more significant impact as a pass catcher. His usage could change with the anticipated return of Lamar Jackson (hamstring) after the team's bye, but Hill has at least three catches in four of six games on the campaign.
Oct 7, 2025
Minimal usage in blowout loss
Hill had a three-yard carry and a nine-yard reception on 11 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Though the Ravens were in a catch-up script for much of the game, Hill played his fewest snaps of the season by a wide margin. The veteran had played at least 40% of the snaps in the first four weeks before bottoming out with 30% on Sunday. Opportunities dried up as a result as he had just one carry and two targets on the day. Baltimore's offense is in a tough spot as long as Lamar Jackson is sidelined and the ripple effects fall across the skill players, including Hill. The Ravens host the Rams in Week 6
Sep 30, 2025
Two touchdowns in blowout loss
Hill had three carries for 76 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chiefs. He added five receptions for 41 yards and another score.
ANALYSIS
Hill opened and closed the scoring Sunday. He punched in an 11-yard touchdown grab to cap off the Ravens' first drive, then finished things off with a 71-yard touchdown run to bring the Ravens within 17 points with under two minutes to go. In between, Hill added a few short carries and receptions as the Ravens' offense largely floundered. It was noteworthy that Hill out-snapped Derrick Henry 32 to 21, but the Ravens trailed from the second quarter onward. The Ravens host the Texans in Week 5.
Sep 24, 2025
Targeted four times in loss
Hill caught three of four targets for 45 yards in Monday's 38-30 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Hill was not used in the rushing attack for the first time this season, yet his four targets and 45 yards through the air were both season highs through three weeks. The veteran running back played 51 percent of the Ravens' offensive snaps, finishing ahead of Derrick Henry, who had a 49 percent snap share. As long as Henry stays healthy, however, Hill's minimal usage makes him difficult to trust for consistent fantasy production. The 27-year-old can be ignore for fantasy purposes when the Ravens visit the Chiefs in Week 4.
Sep 16, 2025
Makes three grabs Sunday
Hill had three carries for seven yards and caught all three of his targets for 18 yards Sunday against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore's run game was uncharacteristically shut down by the Browns on Sunday as Hill and Derrick Henry combined for 14 carries and 30 yards. Hill managed to contribute in the passing game with three grabs after being held to just one three-yard reception in the opener. His playing time remained in line with his Week 1 total as he played 22 snaps. His usage can vary week-to-week, but Hill's snap share sits in the 40 percent range.
Sep 8, 2025
Tough sledding in Buffalo
Hill had two carries for -14 yards and added a three-yard reception on two targets in Sunday's loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Hill had a healthy 45% snap share but his usage was minimal as he had just four combined opportunities in 23 snaps. He had a mishap on one of his carries that resulted in a fumble, and also had a target slip through his hands. Hill seems to be locked into a role as the passing down back who should see his share of targets as the season progresses -- he caught 42 passes in 2024 -- but rushing work will likely remain light. The Ravens host the Browns in Week 2.
Jan 21, 2025
Solid season from scrimmage
Hill finished the season with 47 carries for 228 yards and a touchdown while adding 42 catches for 383 yards and three touchdowns on 51 targets.
ANALYSIS
The veteran was a valuable second option in the Baltimore backfield behind Derrick Henry this season with four combined touchdowns and new carer highs across the board as a pass-catcher. Hill's 42 receptions ranked 15th among running backs and his 383 receiving yards ranked 11th at his position as well. He also provided some tough running in Baltimore's playoff loss to Buffalo with 50 yards on six attempts. Hill inked a two-year extension in September 2024 and projects to be back with his $2.4M cap hit in 2025. It will be interesting to see how Hill's role changes, if at all, with Keaton Mitchell back to full speed after missing much of the season recovering from a knee injury that ended his 2023 campaign.
Jan 9, 2025
Ready for wild-card round
Hill (concussion) does not carry an injury designation on Thursday's practice report and will be available for Saturday's wild-card round matchup against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Hill, who missed Baltimore's final two regular-season games, has now fully cleared the NFL's concussion protocol. He'll be available to contribute out of the backfield behind Derrick Henry during Saturday's game against the Steelers, as well as to field kick returns. Across 15 regular-season appearances, Hill rushed 47 times for 228 yards and one touchdown. He also secured a career-high 48 of 51 targets for 383 yards and another three scores.
Jan 8, 2025
Practices fully Wednesday
Hill (concussion/illness) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After being deemed a limited practice participant Tuesday, Hill -- who has missed two straight games -- upgraded to full participation a day later, which has the running back trending in the right direction ahead of Saturday's game against the Steelers. Thursday's injury report is destined to reveal whether Hill carries a designation for the contest or is fully cleared to face Pittsburgh this weekend.
Jan 7, 2025
Back practicing Tuesday
Hill (illness/concussion) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens continue to list Hill with a pair of health concerns, though head coach John Harbaugh said last Thursday that the illness rather than the concussion suffered in a Dec. 21 win over the Steelers was the primary cause of the running back's continued absence. Hill was back on the practice field Tuesday for the first time since Week 16, with Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic noting that Hill was sporting a non-contact jersey. As such, Hill may not have yet fully cleared concussion protocol, but he'll have two more practices this week to increase his activity and show that he's put both the head injury and the illness in the rear-view mirror in advance of Saturday's wild-card game versus Pittsburgh. If he's available this weekend, Hill would likely step in as the top change-of-pace option behind lead back Derrick Henry.
Jan 2, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Hill (concussion/illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill, who wasn't able to practice this week, will thus target a potential return to action in the Ravens' postseason opener. In his absence Saturday, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali are available to handle backfield reps that don't go to Derrick Henry. Per head coach John Harbaugh, Hill is no longer dealing with a concussion, with the running back's illness being the reason that he'll be sidelined this weekend.
Jan 2, 2025
Not practicing Thursday
Hill (concussion/illness) wasn't present for practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Hill slated to record a third straight 'DNP' listing, the running back's status for Saturday's game against the Browns is cloudy in advance of the Ravens' final Week 18 injury report. If Hill is unavailable this weekend, Keaton Mitchell would likely see added snaps behind top back Derrick Henry.
Jan 1, 2025
Not practicing yet
Hill (concussion/illness) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill hasn't practiced since suffering a concussion Week 16, but at this point his absence may be due to an illness more so than the head injury, considering Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Hill is trending in the right direction for Saturday's game against Cleveland. The running back has three more days to recover from his illness and clear concussion protocol before Baltimore's regular-season finale.
Dec 31, 2024
Misses another practice
Hill (concussion/illness) didn't participate in practice Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Hill is trending toward being available for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Browns, after the running back sat out the team's Week 17 win over the Texans with a concussion. Though Hill is seemingly on the cusp of exiting the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, an unrelated illness has kept him off the field for practice. Hill will likely need to log some practice activity Wednesday and/or Thursday in order for Harbaugh's prediction to come to fruition.
Dec 30, 2024
Expected to play Saturday
Hill, who missed the Ravens' Dec. 25 win over the Texans with a concussion, missed Monday's practice due to an illness, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Hill was sidelined Monday, Hensley relayed that the running back is expected to play Saturday against the Browns, per head coach John Harbaugh, which implies that Hill has either cleared the NFL's concussion protocol or is on track to do so ahead of Week 18 action. Look for added context regarding his status to arrive once Tuesday's practice report is posted.
Dec 24, 2024
Missing Christmas Day game
The Ravens have ruled Hill (concussion) out for Wednesday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Hill was knocked out of Saturday's 34-17 win over the Steelers after his head hit the turf violently when he was brought down on a 25-yard run in the second quarter. Unsurprisingly, Hill was unable to clear the five-step concussion protocol on a short week, and he'll miss his first game of the season Wednesday. With Hill sidelined, Rasheen Ali and Keaton Mitchell will be the available depth options in the backfield behind starter Derrick Henry.
Dec 23, 2024
Doesn't practice Monday
Hill (concussion) didn't practice Monday.
ANALYSIS
Hill sustained a concussion Saturday against the the Steelers when his head hit the ground hard as he was tackled at the end of a 25-yard run. With no activity to speak of since then, he seems to be trending toward his first absence of the season Wednesday at Houston. Tuesday's injury report may provide clarity on that front, but rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali and Keaton Mitchell are lined up for complementary reps behind starter Derrick Henry if Hill isn't able to suit up Week 17.
Dec 22, 2024
DNP on practice estimate
Hill (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Sunday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore faced Pittsburgh on Saturday, with the team holding a late-afternoon walk-through one day later. Given that Hill sustained a concussion versus the Steelers, his status for Wednesday's game against the Texans is cloudy on a short week. If Hill is sidelined for the contest, Rasheen Ali and Keaton Mitchell would be in line to see complementary snaps behind top back Derrick Henry.
Dec 22, 2024
Unlikely to play Week 17
Ravens coach John Harbaugh was not optimistic when asked following Sunday's 34-17 win against the Steelers if Hill (concussion) would be available versus Houston on Wednesday, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill exited with a concussion during the second quarter, and he'll have just three days to clear the league's concussion protocol before the game against Houston on Christmas Day. The 27-year-old running back has been a productive receiver for Baltimore this season, tallying a 42-383-3 receiving line over the first 14 games of the season. Meanwhile, fellow running back Keaton Mitchell was ruled a healthy scratch for the third game in a row Sunday. Therefore, it's likely that rookie Rasheen Ali will step up as the primary backup for Wednesday's game versus Houston, though bell-cow Derrick Henry should continue to shoulder the vast majority of Baltimore's rushing workload.
Dec 21, 2024
Out due to concusson
Hill has been ruled out during Saturday's contest against the Steelers due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Hill's head hit violently against the ground after taking a tough hit following a 25-yard run in the second quarter. With Keaton Mitchell a healthy inactive, rookie Rasheen Ali is the only other healthy running back behind Derrick Henry.
Dec 15, 2024
Thriving as receiving threat
Hill took two carries for seven yards while bringing in all five of his targets for 61 receiving yards and a touchdown in Sunday's blowout win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Hill made an additional mark outside of fantasy matchups when he ripped off a 59-yard return on special teams. Baltimore's talented backup recorded his fourth touchdown of the season on quarterback Lamar Jackson's fifth passing touchdown of the game. Hill remains a boom-or-bust option (due to his limited usage) for those in deeper leagues as the Ravens prepare to host the Steelers on Saturday.
Dec 1, 2024
Seven touches in loss to Philly
Hill rushed three times for six yards and caught four of six targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Hill saw his customary level of usage while working in a change-of-pace role behind Derrick Henry. Hill's volume has been remarkably consistent heading into Baltimore's Week 14 bye. He has totaled between six and eight touches nine times this season while falling short of six three times and exceeding eight just once, when Hill had four carries and six catches against the Bills back in Week 4.
Nov 26, 2024
Long TD run in win
Hill rushed four times for 55 yards and a touchdown and secured both targets for seven yards in the Ravens' 30-23 win over the Chargers on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Hill's backfield mate Derrick Henry stole the show with 140 rushing yards, but Hill was the only one of the two to record a touchdown when he rattled off a 51-yard scoring scamper just past the midway point of the fourth quarter that extended a 23-16 Ravens lead. Hill's trip to the end zone was his first on the ground since Week 5 of last season, although he does have two receiving scores this season. Despite Monday night's big run, Hill remains a very speculative fantasy option except for deep PPR leagues heading into a Week 13 home clash with the Eagles.
Nov 23, 2024
Cleared to suit up in Week 12
Hill (concussion protocol) doesn't have an injury designation heading into Monday's clash against the Chargers, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill began the week with a limited practice while in concussion protocol but was able to log a full practice Friday. He was then estimated as a full participant again in Saturday's walkthrough. As such, Hill will be able to suit up against the Chargers, and he'll likely continue to work as Baltimore's top kickoff returner as well as its change-of-pace back behind Derrick Henry.
Nov 22, 2024
Logs full practice
Hill (concussion protocol) practiced fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
Per the Ravens' injury report, Hill still is listed in the NFL's concussion protocol, but the running back's ability to work fully Friday bodes well for his chances of being cleared for Monday night's game against the Chargers. If, however, Hill has any setbacks and is unable to completely progress through the protocol, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali would be candidates to see added snaps behind top back Derrick Henry in Week 12.
Nov 21, 2024
In concussion protocol
Hill (concussion protocol) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com, Hill sported a non-contact pinny and a Guardian Cap while participating in Wednesday's session. The running back now has two more opportunities to practice fully as Monday night's game against the Chargers approaches, but if he's unable to completely progress through concussion protocol, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali would be in line to see added change-of-pace work versus Los Angeles behind lead back Derrick Henry.
Nov 18, 2024
Gets more involved Sunday
Hill caught four of seven targets for 28 yards and added two carries for 13 yards Sunday against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
This was the most involved Hill has been in the game plan in some time as he drew seven targets and played the same number of snaps (30) as Derrick Henry. The seven targets were one behind his season-high of eight in the season-opening loss against the Chiefs. Henry struggled to get much going on the ground other than his 31-yard run and Pittsburgh's lively pass rush opened the door for Hill to get some work in the short passing game. Hill nearly came down with a massive catch up the sideline but it was ripped away and intercepted by rookie linebacker, Payton Wilson. Hill's lack of effectiveness despite the increased opportunities was a disappointing result for him, though he should remain the No.2 option behind Henry given that the team does not appear ready to give Keaton Mitchell significant snaps yet.
Nov 8, 2024
Two carries Thursday
Hill, who logged 22 of a possible 63 snaps on offense in Thursday's 35-34 win over the Bengals, carried twice for minus-two yards and caught both of his targets for zero yards in the contest, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, lead back Derrick Henry recorded 39 snaps and 16 carries, while Keaton Mitchell was on the field for just two snaps on offense in his return to action from a lengthy layoff Thursday. While working in a change-of-pace role, Hill has been a hit-or-miss fantasy option this season, and with Mitchell back in the mix, Hill's best chance to make a mark going forward will occur in games where Baltimore's running backs are called upon to be more active in the passing game.
Nov 3, 2024
Three grabs in Sunday's rout
Hill carried the ball five times for 15 yards and caught all three of his targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The 58 scrimmage yards were Hill's largest total since Week 4, when he posted a 6-78-1 line on six targets against the Bills. It was a good time for Hill to produce decent numbers, as Keaton Mitchell (knee) is getting close to making his season debut and could push for the No. 2 job in the Ravens' backfield. Neither RB is likely to see a big workload as long as Derrick Henry is healthy, however.
Oct 28, 2024
Little usage Sunday
Hill had two carries for five yards and added a 14-yard reception Sunday against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill played one of his higher snap shares of the season but didn't make much of an impact in the box score with three total touches for 19 yards. The common theme of Hill's useful fantasy games this season has been target volume. In the five games in which Hill had fewer than three targets, he has averaged 4.08 PPR points. Additionally, it's difficult to predict the game scripts where the running backs will be active in the passing game. Baltimore hosts a tough Denver defense in Week 9.
Oct 23, 2024
Finds end zone in win
Hill rushed five times for four yards while catching all three of his targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Hill scored his second receiving touchdown of the year Monday, while finding little success on the ground. Meanwhile, fellow running back Derrick Henry continued to dominate as a rusher. Despite seeing his role shrink as the season has progressed, the 26-year-old Hill retains a bit of stand-alone value as the No. 2 running back on a good offense. However, barring an injury to Henry, Hill remains difficult to count on for consistent weekly production. The veteran is difficult to trust for fantasy purposes when the Ravens visit the Browns in Week 8.
Oct 14, 2024
Role continues to shrink
Hill had one carry for two yards and reeled in a two-yard reception on his lone target Sunday against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Hill's involvement was limited Sunday as he played just 38 percent of the snaps and was not a big part of the scheme with just two total opportunities. Early in the season, Hill was at least reliably drawing targets even if he wasn't seeing many carries. That appears to have dried up as he has just two catches for 10 yards over the last two games. Baltimore heads to Tampa Bay in Week 7.
Oct 7, 2024
Takes backseat Sunday
Hill had five carries for 17 yards and added one catch for eight yards in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The veteran's usage in the passing game backslid Sunday as Baltimore needed to target deeper parts of the field to mount its second-half comeback. Hill has two games with a high target volume -- eight in Week 1, six in Week 4 -- but has otherwise gotten two targets per game on average. Baltimore hosts Washington in what projects to be a high-scoring game in Week 6 and Hill's usage could tick up as a result. Still, Hill is really only on the fantasy radar in deeper PPR leagues.
Sep 30, 2024
Leading receiver on SNF
Hill rushed four times for 18 yards and caught all six of his targets for 78 yards and a receiving touchdown in Sunday's 35-10 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Hill finished as the Ravens' leading receiver on a night dominated by Baltimore's rushers. The electric backup continued to generate hype with his biggest output of the season. Most of Hill's damage was done running routes Sunday, most notably on a 19-yard touchdown grab in the second half where he shook his assignment before hitting the open field for his first touchdown of the campaign. Starter Derrick Henry stole the show with a 24-199-1 rushing line, but Hill still provided FLEX value with 96 yards and a score on just 10 touches. Even if there isn't room in your starting lineup, it wouldn't be a bad idea to stash Hill on the bench if he is still out there ahead of Week 5's tilt against Cincinnati.
Sep 24, 2024
Efficient in win
Hill had five carries for 33 yards and added a pair of receptions for 21 yards on two targets Sunday against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
It was a season-low in snap share for Hill but he was still effective when called upon by averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 10.5 yards per target. Hill's diminished playing time likely had to do with Baltimore's run-heavy approach that leaned on Derrick Henry. Hill is still Baltimore's best pass-catching back but his week-to-week projection is volatile. He had eight targets in the first game and has four total targets over the last two games. It will be worth monitoring whether Baltimore sticks with such a run-first approach Sunday against Buffalo.
Sep 20, 2024
Lands two-year extension
The Ravens signed Hill to a two-year, $6 million contract extension Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
A fourth-round pick by Baltimore in 2019, Hill missed all of 2021 with a torn Achilles' tendon but finally got an extended chance to play last season for the Ravens after J.K. Dobbins suffered the same injury in Week 1. Hill set career-highs across the board with his 84-387-3 rushing line last season, adding 28-206-1 as a receiver. He's taken hold of the pass-catching and two-minute roles in Baltimore's offense behind early-down workhorse Derrick Henry. Through two games, Hill has eight catches for 62 yards and has rushed five times for 25 yards while playing 54 percent of the offensive snaps.
Sep 16, 2024
Seeing plenty of playing time
Hill had four carries for 22 yards and caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Once again, Hill out-snapped Derrick Henry by a count of 35 to 30 in a loss. Hill wasn't as involved in the passing game this time around, though, as his target count dropped from eight to two. Baltimore is still finding its identity on offense with a rebuilt offensive line and the addition of Henry to the mix, but Hill seems to be in line for a healthy snap share for the time being thanks to his complimentary skill set to that of Henry's. The Ravens host the Cowboys in a Week 3 game that is teetering on being a must-win for Baltimore.
Sep 6, 2024
Active in passing game Thursday
Hill had one carry for three yards and added six receptions for 52 yards on eight targets in Thursday's loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers were surprised to see Hill actually out-snap Derrick Henry 43 to 37. The Ravens were in a catch-up script for much of the game, however, and Hill's pass-catching chops and blitz pickup ability get him on the field in those scenarios. Henry will take on a larger share of the offense going forward but Hill is positioned to be the passing-down back at least until Keaton Mitchell (knee) returns. With that, Hill may have some appeal for the time being in deeper leagues with full PPR scoring.
Aug 2, 2024
In line for key complementary role
Coach John Harbaugh noted Thursday that Hill will maintain a valuable role in the backfield rotation behind Derrick Henry, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports. "He is a high caliber running back. So, to have him along Derrick, along with the young guys, it's really great. He's going to give us a little different style than Derrick Henry" Harbaugh noted of Hill, adding "I think he's going to play a lot and kind of do it his way."
ANALYSIS
Though Henry profiles as the team's clear lead back, with Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins no longer in the mix and Keaton Mitchell still recovering from a knee injury, Hill is poised to have a key complementary role in Baltimore's backfield out of the gate in 2024. Also competing for depth touches behind Henry are fifth-round rookie Rasheen Ali and Owen Wright. In 16 regular season contests last season, Hill carried 84 times for 387 yards and three TDs, while adding 28 catches (on 39 targets) for 206 yards and a receiving score.
Mar 13, 2024
Joined by No. 1 option in backfield
Hill is part of a backfield that's being joined by Derrick Henry on a two-year contract and slated to see both J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards depart, sadgasg reports. Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens are set to add a true No. 1 running back in Henry, whose size and power will complement Lamar Jackson's elusiveness, while Dobbins is scheduled for free agency and Edwards has agreed to a contract with the Chargers. Hill is coming off a career year himself, and his pass-catching skills should also allow him to spell Henry efficiently. It's possible, though, that Keaton Mitchell (knee) becomes the Ravens' preferred No. 2 option once fully recovered from his torn ACL, as long as he doesn't lose a step. Hill can be cut with a potential 'out' heading into the final year of his contract for only $500,000 in dead money, which could be a situation worth monitoring.
Jan 31, 2024
Enjoys career year in 2023
Hill finished the 2023 regular season with career highs for carries (84), rushing yards (387), rushing TDs (387), catches (28), receiving yards (206) and receiving touchdowns (one).
ANALYSIS
Hill was Baltimore's RB of choice for obvious passing situations for most of the season, though rookie Keaton Mitchell (knee) took some of that work away from early November to mid-December before suffering an ACL tear. Hill also ended up with a larger-than-expected role in the rushing game, especially early in the season after J.K. Dobbins suffered an Achilles' tear Week 1. The two-year, $4.5 million contract Hill signed in March ended up working out well for the Ravens, as he played nearly as many snaps on offense (436) as in his first four NFL seasons combined (554). It is possible Hill plays more special teams and less offense in 2024, though that's far from a certainty with both Dobbins and Gus Edwards scheduled for unrestricted free agency. Hill is scheduled for a non-guaranteed $2 million base salary and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses for the second and final season of his contract.

Strong performance in playoff win
Hill rushed the ball 13 times for 66 yards in Saturday's 34-10 win over the Texans. He also had two receptions on two targets for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill led the Ravens' backfield while matching his highest carry total of the season and recording his highest yardage total of the campaign. He was particularly effective running out the clock late in the game, as he accounted for 42 yards in the final quarter. Hill also remained involved as a pass catcher and has commanded multiple targets in five of his last six contests. He should split work with Gus Edwards once again in the AFC Championship Game while squaring off with either the Chiefs or Bills.
Jan 8, 2024
Paces team in targets
Hill caught three of 10 targets for 26 yards in Saturday's loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Hill did not factor into the carry rotation Saturday but did lead the team in targets in what was an anomalous game for the Ravens with Tyler Huntley at quarterback. In Weeks 16 and 17, Hill commanded a 22 percent rushing share in the wake of Keaton Mitchell's season-ending injury. Hill has been active in the passing game throughout the season and that should continue when the Ravens return to action in the Divisional Round but his rushing usage has been sporadic all year as well. Gus Edwards projects to be first in line for carries during the postseason but Hill can still be a fantasy factor with a small rushing workload to go with passing game functions.
Dec 31, 2023
Stellar all-around day Sunday
Hill rushed three times for 48 yards and secured all five targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 56-19 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also returned two kickoffs for 101 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill was highly efficient overall while providing a 20-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter to erase an early 7-0 deficit and ignite the Ravens' offense on what would be a prolific afternoon. The versatile veteran was explosive as both a rusher and returner as well, but he could take a seat in Week 18 against the Steelers with the Ravens now in possession of the AFC's top seed.
Dec 26, 2023
Earns 13 touches
Hill rushed the ball 10 times for 26 yards in Monday's 33-19 win over the 49ers. He added three receptions on three targets for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill led the Baltimore backfield with 13 touches but managed only 57 total yards. He was extremely inefficient on the ground, averaging only 2.6 yards per attempt with his longest rush going for six yards. Hill's work as a pass catcher was more noteworthy, as he tallied his highest target count since Week 8. Gus Edwards will almost certainly maintain the goal-line role moving forward, meaning Hill will have to rack up yards and receptions to be fantasy-relevant for the final two weeks of the regular season.
Dec 18, 2023
May see increased role down stretch
Hill had five carries for 23 yards Sunday against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Despite the pedestrian stat line, Hill finds himself thrust back onto the fantasy radar going forward in light of Keaton Mitchell suffering a season-ending knee injury. Mitchell suffered a torn ACL on Sunday night, and now Hill projects to see his role tick up as the primary complement to Gus Edwards. In the first nine weeks, which is when Mitchell was either on IR or had a minimal role, Hill averaged 7.3 carries for 31.4 yards to go with 1.9 receptions for 8.4 yards. Hill is unlikely to see a massive jump in production but his usage should make him a potential streaming option down the stretch in deeper formats. The Ravens have a tough matchup upcoming, though, as they'll head west to face the 49ers on Christmas night.
Dec 11, 2023
One catch on 30 snaps
Hill recorded a 12-yard reception on two targets (30 snaps) in Sunday's win over the Rams. He did not record a carry.
ANALYSIS
Though the touches were minimal for Hill, he was on the field plenty Sunday. Baltimore clearly finds value in his versatility in terms of pass-catching, change-of-pace running, and pass-blocking, much to the chagrin of fantasy managers invested in Gus Edwards or Keaton Mitchell. In fact, Hill actually led all Ravens running backs in snap count against the Rams even though both Mitchell and Edwards had more fantasy usage. Hill has just one game since the season-opener with double-digit carries and that is unlikely to change with Mitchell and Edwards healthy. Do not mistake Hill's consistent snap count for fantasy upside.
Nov 27, 2023
Effective in limited role
Hill had five carries for 31 yards Sunday against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Hill's role remains diminished with Keaton Mitchell's ascent in the offense as the veteran played just 29 percent of the snaps Sunday. He has not played more than 30 percent of the snaps since Week 9 against the Seahawks. Hill was effective on a per-carry basis against the Chargers, but there appears to be a cap on his weekly volume projection with Mitchell, Gus Edwards and Lamar Jackson taking on the bulk of the backfield work. The Ravens are on a bye in Week 13 before returning to action Dec. 10 against the Rams.
Nov 17, 2023
Role diminishing in offense
Hill had one carry for one yard and one catch for six yards on 13 snaps against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
As many expected with Keaton Mitchell's emergence, Hill's role in the offense is taking a significant cut. Hill has played 13 snaps in each of the last two games with four combined touches. Mitchell and Gus Edwards appear to be Baltimore's primary backs going forward, leaving Hill to play a reserve role.
Nov 15, 2023
Handles two carries in loss
Hill rushed two times for seven yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 33-31 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill played just 14 of the Ravens' 54 offensive snaps Sunday, while Gus Edwards played 28 snaps and rookie Keaton Mitchell played 13 snaps in the contest. The veteran's two rushing attempts and seven yards were his lowest in both categories for the season, while Mitchell continued to show that he should earn more playing time as an explosive playmaker. Going forward, Hill could continue to cede snaps and touches to the rookie, further limiting his potential for consistent production. The 26-year-old will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes when the Ravens host the Bengals in Week 11.
Nov 6, 2023
High snap count, low production Sunday
Hill had 13 carries for 40 yards in Sunday's win over the Seahawks and did not catch his lone target.
ANALYSIS
While Hill led the team in carries and played the most snaps among running backs, he finished fourth on the team in rushing yardage. Gus Edwards was strong on a per-play basis, rushing for 52 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. However, it was rookie Keaton Mitchell who stole the show and may post the biggest threat to Hill's role going forward. Mitchell took nine carries for 138 yards and a touchdown in his first significant workload of the season. Hill has been solid to this point with a 4.3 YPC average and 15 catches on 16 targets, but Mitchell's emergence Sunday could alter Baltimore's backfield calculus down the stretch. Baltimore hosts a tough Cleveland defense in Week 10.
Oct 29, 2023
Ties for team receiving lead
Hill rushed four times for 15 yards and caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Hill watched Gus Edwards rumble for three touchdowns but contributed out of the backfield in passing situations, tying Mark Andrews for the team lead in receiving yards as Lamar Jackson threw for only 157 yards. Hill has topped 30 scrimmage yards in each of his last six games played, and he set a new season high in that category here, topping his Week 2 total by two yards.
Oct 22, 2023
Limited to five touches
Hill rushed the ball four times for 46 yards in Sunday's 38-6 win over the Lions. He added one reception for two yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill accounted for only four of the 18 rushing attempts by Baltimore's running backs, and he worked as the clear backup to Gus Edwards. That could be in part due to game script, as the Ravens played from ahead for the entire matchup. Hill did make the most of his chances, tallying the team's fourth-longest play from scrimmage with a 27-yard run midway through the second quarter. Hill has now topped 40 rushing yards just twice in six games on the campaign.
Oct 15, 2023
Held in check in Week 6 win
Hill carried the ball eight times for 35 yards and caught all three of his targets for zero yards in Sunday's 24-16 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Hill's 4.4 yards per carry was significantly better than Gus Edwards' 2.6 YPC, but the latter still saw more touches on the day with 17, including a 16-8 advantage in carries. The Ravens' backfield timeshare will make it difficult for either RB to make a big fantasy impact, especially in a Week 7 tilt against a Lions defense that's given up only two total touchdowns to the position through five games.
Oct 8, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 5
Hill rushed the ball seven times for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Steelers. He added four receptions on four targets for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Gus Edwards maintained his role as the Ravens' primary rusher, though Hill arguably maintained a more valuable role with work in the red zone and as a receiver. Hill found the end zone midway through the first quarter on a 14-yard scamper, which was also his longest gain of the day. He also was the only Baltimore back to catch a pass, though he's managed just 25 yards on seven targets this season. Hill could continue to see a similar role moving forward, though he'll be an unreliable fantasy option due to his lack of reliable volume.
Oct 8, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Hill (foot/hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
After being limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, Hill returned to a full practice Friday setting the stage for the running back to face Pittsburgh. Though Hill will be available Sunday, it remains to be seen how busy he will be in Week 5 with Gus Edwards (15 carries last weekend) slated to log his share of early-down work and Kenyan Drake available to mix in. In the Ravens' Week 4 win over the Browns, Hill logged seven snaps and carried three times for 33 yards.
Oct 6, 2023
Deemed questionable, should play
Hill (foot/hamstring) was a full practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Hill missed Week 3 with turf toe before returning for a Week 4 win over the Browns and taking three carries for 33 yards. The addition of a hamstring injury doesn't seem to seriously threaten his availability for Sunday, but Hill may not get a lot of playing time even if he's active. Gus Edwards and Melvin Gordon both played more than Hill this week, and rookie Keaton Mitchell (shoulder) is eligible to come off injured reserve for Sunday's game.
Oct 5, 2023
Limited again Thursday
Hill (foot/hamstring) remained limited in Thursday's practice, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill played just seven snaps in last week's win over the Browns, as Gus Edwards was in on 40 offensive plays as the lead back. Hill is averaging a mediocre 3.8 yards per carry on the year, totaling 22-83-2 as a rusher. Back-to-back limited practices should put Hill in line to play Sunday against the Steelers.
Oct 4, 2023
Nursing two injuries Wednesday
Hill (foot/hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday,
ANALYSIS
Hill was nursing a foot injury heading into this past Sunday's 28-3 win over the Browns, and he appears to have picked up a hamstring injury in that game as well while receiving only three touches. Even if Hill is able to play through the injuries Sunday in Pittsburgh, he could face competition for touches behind Gus Edwards from rookie Keaton Mitchell (shoulder), who practiced in full Wednesday and had his 21-day window to return from injured reserve opened.
Oct 1, 2023
Just three touches in Week 4
Hill (foot) rushed three times for 33 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 28-3 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill suited up after sitting out the previous game, but he got fewer touches than both Gus Edwards (15 carries, three targets) and Melvin Gordon (three carries, one target). If Gordon continues to rotate in on passing downs while Edwards and quarterback Lamar Jackson account for most of the rushing attempts, Hill will have a tough time earning enough touches to make a meaningful impact in Week 5 against the Steelers.
Oct 1, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Hill (foot) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill, who was inactive in Week 3, was listed as a full participant in Friday's practice, and he'll be back in the Ravens' RB mix Sunday. In his return to action, Hill and Gus Edwards figure to work in a time-share arrangement versus Cleveland, with practice-squad callup Melvin Gordon also on hand to log complementary snaps. In that context, Hill is a lineup option in deeper formats, but as long as he's sharing RB touches, the 2019 fourth-rounder profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option.
Sep 30, 2023
Trending towards playing
Hill (foot), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, is trending towards playing against the Browns, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was a full participant in Friday's practice, which does give some hope to fantasy managers that the running back will be active come Sunday. Expect Gus Edwards and Hill to split time in the backfield with likely practice-squad callup Melvin Gordon also mixing in occasionally on passing downs. Expect the Ravens to confirm the status of the 25-year-old prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 29, 2023
Listed questionable for Week 4
Hill (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
After missing the Week 3 loss to the Colts, Hill sat out Wednesday's practice before upgrading to limited participation Thursday and then full activity Friday. While the full practice wasn't enough for Hill to avoid an injury designation, he looks likely to avoid the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Gus Edwards is averaging a strong 5.0 yards per carry on 29 rushes this season while Hill has struggled badly at 2.6 YPC on 19 attempts. If anything, Edwards has closed the gap or even passed Hill on the depth chart, though Hill should at least remain the Ravens' preferred pass-catching back.
Sep 28, 2023
Limited in return to practice
Hill (foot) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill, who didn't practice Wednesday, missed last weekend's game after splitting carries with Gus Edwards in the Ravens' Week 2 win over Cincinnati. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Hill approaches Sunday's game against the Browns with an injury designation, but if he does return to action, he'll presumably continue to work in a time-share with Edwards.
Sep 28, 2023
Back at practice
Hill (foot) was present for practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill didn't practice Wednesday, but his return to the field a day later suggests that he could potentially return to action Sunday against the Browns. The Ravens' looming injury report will reveal whether Hill was deemed a limited or full practice participant Thursday.
Sep 27, 2023
Not practicing
Hill (toe) isn't at practice Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gus Edwards, on the other hand, is suited up for practice just three days after his early departure from a loss to Indianapolis to be evaluated for a concussion. Hill and Edwards split the workload Week 2 after J.K. Dobbins' season-ending Achilles tear in the season opener, but Hill then missed Week 3 against the Colts while recovering from turf toe. Hill appears in danger of missing another game when the Ravens travel to Cleveland this Sunday, with Melvin Gordon and Kenyan Drake being the alternatives if both Hill and Edwards are out.
Sep 22, 2023
Ruled out for Week 3
Hill (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
With Hill -- who didn't practice this week -- unavailable, look for Gus Edwards to lead the Ravens backfield Week 3, with practice-squad members Melvin Gordon and/or Kenyan Drake candidates to be elevated and handle complementary work versus Indianapolis. Hill's next chance to suit up for game action will arrive Week 4, when Baltimore faces Cleveland.
Sep 22, 2023
Remains sidelined Friday
Hill (foot) wasn't present for practice Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens officially list Hill as having a foot injury, but Hensley previously suggested that the running back is dealing with a toe issue. Friday's injury report will clarify whether Hill has a chance to play Sunday against the Colts, but if he's out or limited this weekend, Gus Edwards would likely start the contest, with practice squad members Melvin Gordon and/or Kenyan Drake candidates to handle complementary backfield work.
Sep 21, 2023
Not practicing Thursday
Hill (toe) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill is dealing with turf toe in the aftermath of the Ravens' 27-24 win over the Bengals this past Sunday, when he stepped into an expanded role sans J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and finished with 53 total yards on 14 touches. Now missing from practice for the second day in a row to begin Week 3 prep, Hill's availability for this Sunday's game against the Colts appears to be uncertain. If Hill ends up sitting out this weekend, Gus Edwards would likely operate as the Ravens' clear top option on the ground, while Melvin Gordon and/or Kenyan Drake could be elevated from the practice squad to handle change-of-pace roles.
Sep 20, 2023
Has toe injury
Hill is dealing with a toe injury that could impact his availability for Sunday's game against the Colts, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Hill wasn't at practice Wednesday and now we know why. If Hill, who Fowler suggests isn't thought to be looking at a lengthy absence, is out or limited this weekend, Gus Edwards would be next up for the Ravens' carries, with some combo of practice squad members Melvin Gordon and Kenyan Drake also in the team's Week 3 backfield mix.
Sep 20, 2023
Not seen at practice
Hill isn't at practice Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No injury was reported during or after Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bengals, but Hill's absence Wednesday combined with the addition of Kenyan Drake to the practice squad suggests Hill is banged up. He took 14 touches for 53 yards this past Sunday, with Gus Edwards taking 10 carries for 62 yards and a TD.
Sep 17, 2023
Gets 14 touches in Week 2 win
Hill rushed 11 times for 41 yards and caught all three of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Hill finished third on the team in rushing yards behind Gus Edwards (62 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries) and Lamar Jackson (54 yards on 12 carries). All three should continue to see substantial volume on the ground in Week 3 against the Colts, and Hill's the top pass catching option out of the backfield with J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) done for the season. Hill's averaging just 2.5 yards per carry this season compared to Edwards' 5.2.
Sep 10, 2023
Pair of scores after Dobbins exit
Hill rushed eight times for nine yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens' 25-9 win over the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Hill received an unexpected bump in opportunity after J.K. Dobbins was forced from the game with what has now been confirmed as a season-ending Achilles tendon tear. The fourth-year back took advantage of the extra touches, recording his first two touchdowns since his rookie 2019 campaign on a pair of two-yard runs in the third quarter. Given Dobbins' unavailability the rest of the way, Hill should slot into a relatively consistent complementary role behind Gus Edwards, although there's a possibility Melvin Gordon and/or Owen Wright are summoned from the practice squad ahead of a Week 2 road matchup against the Bengals.
Aug 21, 2023
Another strong preseason showing
Hill had two carries for 25 yards and one catch for 13 yards in Monday's preseason game at Washington, playing the opening drive before exiting for the night.
ANALYSIS
With J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards held out alongside most of Baltimore's other key players, Hill cemented himself ahead of fellow backup RBs Melvin Gordon and Keaton Mitchell. The fifth-year pro has six touches for 86 yards through two preseason games, and there's some chance his relative advantages in speed and receiving skills allow him to pressure Edwards for the No. 2 spot in an offense that's expected to throw more often than in past seasons under the guidance of new OC Todd Monken. It's possible Hill is among the players rested Saturday when the Ravens host the Bucs in their final preseason game.
Aug 12, 2023
Game-long run in preseason opener
Hill rushed three times for 48 yards in the Ravens' 20-19 preseason win over the Eagles on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Hill got the first running back touch of the night for the Ravens and ended up with a game-high rushing yardage total thanks in large part to a 37-yard run. The 2019 fourth-round pick, who re-signed with the Ravens on a two-year deal this offseason, is likely to fill the No. 3 running back role once again this coming season unless veteran Melvin Gordon unexpectedly pushes him off the roster.
Mar 15, 2023
Staying in Baltimore
Hill is re-signing with Baltimore on a two-year, $4.5 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 fourth-round pick has played nearly as many snaps on special teams (501) as offense (524) in the NFL, though he did have a career-high 262 rushing yards last season. Hill profiles as Baltimore's No. 3 back heading into offseason practices, or perhaps the No. 4 if they add a draft pick in the early or middle rounds. J.K. Dobbins is under contract through 2023, and Gus Edwards recently accepted a pay cut to stay with the team.
Jan 17, 2023
Posts career-best rushing totals in '22
Hill had two receptions for 10 yards in the Ravens' playoff loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year back had his best professional season thus far by setting a new career-high in rushing yards (262) and yards per carry (5.3). It was his first year back from an Achilles injury that wiped out his 2021 campaign. Baltimore had to mix and match at running back for much of the season with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards both battling different injuries and workload restrictions and Hill performed ably when called upon. Hill and fellow veteran Kenyan Drake will be unrestricted free agents this offseason but the club could entertain bringing one of them back to serve as the third running back. If Hill does not return to the Ravens, he could still draw some interest from teams on the open market after performing well this season.
Jan 12, 2023
Gets expanded role Week 18
Hill carried seven times for 34 yards in Sunday's 27-16 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
The seven carries more than doubled Hill's output (three) from the Ravens' previous six games combined. Hill had moved almost exclusively into a full-time special-teams role after J.K. Dobbins returned from injured reserve Week 14, but Hill as well as Kenyan Drake were able to reclaim roles on offense in the regular-season finale while Dobbins was inactive for maintenance purposes. Hill and Drake then finished the afternoon as the Ravens' lone healthy backs, as fill-in starter Gus Edwards exited early with a concussion. Even if Edwards is unable to clear the concussion protocol prior to Sunday's rematch with the Bengals in the wild-card round, neither Hill nor Drake projects to retain the roles they enjoyed Week 18 with Dobbins set to return to the lineup while reclaiming duties as the Ravens' clear lead back. Hill finished the regular season with 49 carries for 262 yards to go with 12 catches for 58 yards over his 15 appearances.
Dec 20, 2022
Remains uninvolved in loss
Hill rushed once for three yards and caught his lone target for 15 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill, who received 24 offensive snaps this past weekend in Cleveland, saw the same amount of plays as fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (24) and also out-snapped Gus Edwards (11). The 25-year-old will likely continue splitting backfield reps when Baltimore hosts the Falcons on Saturday.
Dec 13, 2022
No offensive touches in win
Justice Hill failed to record a single touch in Sunday's 16-14 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Hill played just two of the Ravens' 61 offensive snaps as the No. 4 running back behind J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Kenyan Drake. The 25-year-old saw most of his playing time on special teams, returning two kickoffs for 39 total yards. With such limited opportunities out of the backfield, Hill should remain far off the fantasy radar when the Ravens visit the Browns in Week 15.
Dec 6, 2022
Minimal work Sunday
Hill had one carry for two yards and added two receptions for four yards Sunday against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Hill and Gus Edwards played the same number of snaps (17) but Edwards was more involved with six carries. Meanwhile, Kenyan Drake played the most snaps among the Ravens running backs and led the backfield with seven rushes for 29 yards. The offense was facing a tough matchup, but the fact remains that the team mustered just 281 total yards with Tyler Huntley at quarterback. If Jackson is out Sunday against the Steelers, the offense could be hemmed in once again.
Nov 29, 2022
Carries once in loss
Hill carried the ball once for three yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Hill operated as the Ravens' No. 3 running back with Gus Edwards active for the contest. The 25-year-old played just 14 of Baltimore's 72 offensive snaps, behind Edwards (36) and Kenyan Drake (18). With Edwards running as the clear lead back and J.K. Dobbins (knee) nearing his return from injured reserve, it stands to reason that Hill's role in the running back rotation is bound to take a major hit going forward. The veteran should remain off the fantasy radar when the Ravens host the Broncos in Week 13.
Nov 23, 2022
Quiet in win
Hill rushed seven times for 30 yards and caught all three of his targets for eight yards in Sunday's 13-3 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Hill played 41 percent of the Ravens' offensive snaps in the contest, while fellow running back Kenyan Drake played 51 percent of snaps. With Gus Edwards (hamstring/knee) sidelined, Hill saw a bump in his usage. However, the 25-year-old will likely see his role diminish when both Edwards and J.K. Dobbins (knee) make there way back on the field. Hill will likely be difficult to trust when the Ravens visit the Jaguars in Week 12.
Nov 8, 2022
Pushed aside by Drake
Hill had four carries for 11 yards in Monday's win over the Saints and added one catch for eight yards.
ANALYSIS
Even with Gus Edwards (hamstring) out, Hill's role didn't see an increase in Week 9. Kenyan Drake dominated the backfield work as he played 68 percent of the snaps and converted that into 24 carries for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hill's role appears tenuous even with J.K. Dobbins on the shelf, and if Edwards is ready to play after the bye, Hill's role could diminish further.
Oct 28, 2022
Four carries in TNF win
Hill rushed four times for 28 yards and wasn't targeted in Thursday's 27-22 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Hill looked spry in limited action, but Kenyan Drake was the primary beneficiary of Gus Edwards' departure due to a hamstring injury, as Drake turned seven carries and four targets into 67 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. With J.K. Dobbins (knee) on IR, Hill could step into a larger role alongside Drake if Edwards isn't ready to return in Week 9 against the Saints.
Oct 24, 2022
Loses fumble in return
Hill had five carries for 26 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill got back in the fold after missing two games with a hamstring injury. The Ravens also got Gus Edwards back from a knee injury and went with a committee approach as all Hill, Edwards, and Kenyan Drake reached played between 27 and 36 percent of the snaps. Hill had a fumble late in the game that could have proved costly but was otherwise effective on a per-carry basis. The Ravens face the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football in Week 8.
Oct 21, 2022
Cleared to face Cleveland
Hill (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Hill's fully healthy, while fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) has been ruled out. If Baltimore doesn't activate Gus Edwards (knee) from the PUP list before Sunday, Hill would be in line for a prominent backfield role alongside Kenyan Drake and Mike Davis.
Oct 19, 2022
No limitations in practice
Hill (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Hill apparently is ready to return after missing two games, while fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) now appears uncertain for the upcoming matchup with Cleveland. The Ravens relied on Kenyan Drake after Dobbins left a Week 6 loss to the Giants, and they could have Gus Edwards (knee) coming off the PUP list soon. Prior to his hamstring injury, Hill had emerged ahead of Drake as the No. 2 back behind Dobbins.
Oct 16, 2022
Inactive Sunday
Hill (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
With Hill out, look for Kenyan Drake to log added change-of-pace work behind J.K. Dobbins on Sunday, with Mike Davis also in reserve. Hill will target a potential return to action when the Ravens host the Browns in Week 7.
Oct 14, 2022
Listed as doubtful
Hill (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Though Hill was able to practice in a limited fashion this week, he's trending toward being inactive Sunday. If he's out, Kenyan Drake would be a candidate to log added change-of-pace work behind J.K. Dobbins, with Mike Davis in reserve. Moreover, it's also possible that Gus Edwards (knee) could be activated from the PUP list in advance of Week 6 action.
Oct 13, 2022
Practices in limited fashion
Hill (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The limited showing in practice marked Hill's first on-field activity since he injured his hamstring in the fourth quarter of an Oct. 2 loss to the Bills. Prior to getting hurt, Hill had been explosive in his complementary role out of the Baltimore backfield, averaging 6.6 yards on 19 carries. Despite his success through the first four weeks, Hill could soon find himself behind both top back J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards (knee) on the depth chart. Edwards was designated for return from the PUP list Oct. 5 and could be cleared to make his season debut as soon as this Sunday against the Giants if the Ravens are comfortable with the health of his surgically repaired knee.
Oct 13, 2022
Back at practice
Hill (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks the running back's first practice participation since injuring his hamstring in the fourth quarter of the Ravens' Week 4 loss to the Bills. Hill thus has a chance to return to action Sunday against the Giants, but he'll presumably need to get at least one full practice under his belt in order to avoid a Week 6 injury designation.
Oct 12, 2022
No practice Wednesday
Hill (hamstring) is not practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill sat out Week 5's win over Cincinnati due to a hamstring issue, and he's not yet ready to retake the practice field. He will only have two more chances to increase his activity ahead of Sunday's contest against the Giants. With Gus Edwards (knee) still on the PUP list, but back at practice, Kenyan Drake and Mike Davis are currently next on the depth chart behind J.K. Dobbins.
Oct 7, 2022
Ruled out for Week 5
Hill (hamstring) won't play Sunday versus the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Hill emerged from Week 4 with a hamstring issue that kept him out of practice Wednesday through Friday. On Monday, coach John Harbaugh noted Hill was expected to miss some time, and indeed the reserve running back will log at least one DNP. If the Ravens don't activate Gus Edwards (knee) from the reserve/PUP list ahead of Sunday's game, Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake will serve as the options behind lead runner J.K. Dobbins.
Oct 6, 2022
Idle for another practice
Hill (hamstring) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
While playing greater than a third of the snaps in both of the past two weeks and combining for 105 yards on 14 carries to go with two receptions for 12 yards in those contests, Hill has emerged as the top complement to J.K. Dobbins (chest), who made his season debut Week 3. After opening the week as a limited participant in practice, Dobbins looks on track to reprise his role as the Ravens' top back once again Sunday against the Bengals, but Hill's availability is less certain. Hill has now missed two straight practices to begin the week, so he'll almost certainly need to get back on the field in some capacity Friday to have a shot at suiting up versus Cincinnati. Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake are next up for work behind Dobbins, assuming the Ravens don't elect to immediately activate Gus Edwards (knee) from the PUP list following his return to practice this week.
Oct 5, 2022
Held out of practice
Hill (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that he doesn't believe Hill suffered a long-term injury, though the running back is expected to miss some time. He was productive off the bench behind J.K. Dobbins the past two weeks, taking 14 carries for 105 yards against the Patriots and Bills. The Ravens have Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake for depth while Hill is unavailable.
Oct 3, 2022
Avoids long-term injury
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Hill (hamstring) didn't suffer a long-term injury, but the running back will still miss some time, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill rushed eight times for 45 yards before exiting Sunday's loss to the Bills. While the backup running back doesn't have a return timetable yet, Harbaugh said the teams feels like it "dodged a bullet." In Hill's absence, Mike Davis is expected to garner an increased role behind J.K. Dobbins, who continues to work his way back to a full workload following a devastating lower-body injury. The Ravens also may get Gus Edwards (knee) back soon, who's eligible to be activated off the PUP list ahead of Week 5.
Oct 2, 2022
Questionable to return
Hill is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills due to a hamstring injury, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was productive prior to Sunday's second-half departure, rushing eight times for 45 yards. If he's forced to miss additional time, Mike Davis will likely see an increased role in the backfield behind starter J.K. Dobbins.
Sep 26, 2022
Impressive showing in Week 3
Hill had six carries for 60 yards Sunday against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Despite J.K. Dobbins returning from his knee injury, Hill managed to turn in the best rushing performance of his career. He not only set a career-high in yards, but he did so while averaging 10 yards per carry. A 34-yard rush did a lot of the heavy lifting for his average, but it was a strong day from Hill nonetheless. Dobbins played just eight snaps in the second half and Hill stepped up with 22 snaps to help carry the backfield. Though Dobbins will eventually start seeing larger workloads as he rounds into form, this is a run-heavy offense that will get usage out of multiple backs. Veteran signings Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake have had minimal returns thus far, so perhaps it will be Hill who takes the No.2 role behind Dobbins while Gus Edwards is sidelined.
Sep 20, 2022
Effective in limited role
Hill had three carries for 16 yards Sunday against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Hill's 16 rushing yards paced the Ravens' running backs, which is a good snapshot of how this position group has performed through two weeks. Baltimore's running backs have combined for 29 carries for 74 yards with Hill accounting for five carries and 20 yards through two games. Hill has been the most effective on a per-carry basis, but five carries in two games is hardly an indicative sample. It appears Baltimore's run game will continue to struggle as long as J.K. Dobbins (knee) is sidelined.
Sep 12, 2022
Limited usage in opener
Hill had two carries for four yards and reeled in both of his targets for seven yards Sunday against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore didn't have J.K. Dobbins available Sunday so it turned to a committee against the Jets, using three running backs. Kenyan Drake saw the bulk of the carries with 11 of the 15 running back carries while Hill and Mike Davis saw two carries apiece. It's not an encouraging sign for Hill that he was so quickly surpassed on the depth chart by the recently acquired Drake. It's also noteworthy that Baltimore only ran the ball 21 total times compared to 30 pass attempts. The Ravens host the Dolphins in Week 2.

Ready to make impact in Year 4
Hill made the Ravens' initial 53-man roster and is looking to make an impact in Year 4, Todd Karpovich of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill missed the entire 2021 season due to an Achilles injury but showed burst during training camp and could emerge as a viable option to begin the 2022 campaign. J.K. Dobbins (knee) has returned to practices and has a chance to play in Week 1, but the Ravens will be without Gus Edwards (knee) for at least four games, leaving Hill, Mike Davis and recently signed Kenyan Drake as the top healthy options. If Dobbins isn't able to play Sunday, Davis would likely step up as the starter, but given Hill's familiarity with the team, he could operate as the No. 2 running back in Baltimore's run-heavy attack against the Jets.
Aug 22, 2022
Struggles in preseason win
Hill rushed five times for five yards and caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 24-17 preseason win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Mike Davis (undisclosed) got the first-unit snaps with J.K. Dobbins (knee) and Gus Edwards (knee) both still recovering from serious knee injuries suffered last season. Hill -- a raw prospect taken in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft -- had a prime opportunity to earn some serious starting consideration should the aforementioned players miss the start of the regular season, but his lackluster showing will make the increasingly-important third spot on the Baltimore running back depth chart come down to the wire between he and Davis. That final preseason showcase for the Ravens before rosters are trimmed will take place against the Commanders on Saturday.
Aug 11, 2022
Three carries in preseason opener
Hill rushed three times for 11 yards and didn't draw a target during the Ravens' 23-10 preseason win over the Titans on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Seeing his first game action in just under a year, Hill put together modest numbers, but the biggest takeaway was his ability to get back on the field following the Achilles tear that wiped out last season. Hill has reportedly looked quick and back to pre-injury form in training camp practices, and he could see a bump in workload in a road exhibition matchup against the Cardinals a week from Sunday night as he aims to lock in a spot as a speedy change-of-pace option behind the presumptive top running back duo of J.K. Dobbins (knee) and Gus Edwards (knee).
Aug 3, 2022
Making push for roster spot
Hill is making a case to crack the Ravens' 53-man roster. "He's looked quick, showing no signs of the Achilles tear that sidelined him all last season," Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With J.K. Dobbins (knee) and Gus Edwards (knee) still on the mend, the door has been opened for Hill to make an impression early in camp. Mike Davis and rookie Tyler Badie add competition for limited roster spots when it comes to the Baltimore backfield once Dobbins and Edwards return. Hill, who is back from his own season-ending injury, appears to be making the most of his chances thus far.
Jul 28, 2022
Healthy again
Hill was listed as one of five healthy running backs for the Ravens on Thursday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was a limited participant during Baltimore's voluntary workouts in May while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered late last preseason. The 24-year-old running back missed the entirety of the 2021 campaign as a result of this injury, but his status as one of the team's few available tailbacks in training camp should give him a leg up heading into this coming regular season. Hill had just 12 rushing attempts for 60 yards in 2020, and he should compete with Mike Davis, Corey Clement and rookie Tyler Badie for the team's No. 3 running back spot this preseason.
May 25, 2022
Participating in voluntary workout
Hill (Achilles) participated in the Ravens' OTAs on Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill tore his Achilles at the end of last year's preseason, so he appears to be well ahead of schedule. However, it remains unclear if he'll be 100 percent by the start of the regular season. The 2019 fourth-round pick ran for 225 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie but faces an uphill battle for playing time heading into Year 4. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are also both coming off season-ending injuries, so free agent signee Mike Davis is currently the top healthy back on Baltimore's depth chart.

Back from COVID list, still on IR
Hill (Achilles) returned from the reserve/COVID list Thursday, shifting back to injured reserve, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back was placed on the COVID list Christmas Day, causing him to be unable to rehab his season-ending Achilles injury in team facilities. Now back with the team, Hill will return to preparing for the 2022 season.
Dec 25, 2021
Shifts to COVID list
Hill (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was already on IR and out for the season due to a torn ACL suffered in training camp. While on the COVID list, Hill will not be able to rehab his injury at the Ravens' facilities. He'll try to clear COVID protocols, so he can continue to prepare for a return in 2022.
Sep 9, 2021
Lands on IR
Hill (Achilles), who had been waived-injured by the Ravens, reverted to IR on Thursday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Hill joins fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (torn ACL) on IR, and Gus Edwards could follow them soon after suffering what appears to be a serious knee injury during Thursday's practice. In the wake of all their backfield woes, the Ravens' top healthy RB is Ty'Son Williams, though veteran newcomers Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman profile as likely promotions from the team's practice squad.
Sep 8, 2021
Waived-injured by Ravens
Hill (Achilles) was waived-injured by the Ravens on Wednesday, per the NFL's official transaction log, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Though previous reports indicated that Hill was already on IR, he'll now need to clear waivers in order for that to become official. In the wake of Hill's season-ending injury, the Ravens added running back Trenton Cannon to their 53-man roster, while Le'Veon Bell joined the team's practice squad.
Sep 8, 2021
Lands on IR
Hill (Achilles) has been placed on IR by the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Ryan Mink of the team's official site relays that the Ravens have signed fellow running back Trenton Cannon to their 53-man roster, while adding Le'Veon Bell to the practice squad. Hill lands on IR after having suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, which currently leaves Gus Edwards and Ty'Son Williams as Baltimore's top two healthy backs.
Sep 6, 2021
Reportedly suffers Achilles' injury
Hill has reportedly suffered a torn Achilles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, it's a season-ending injury, which if confirmed, would explain why the Ravens worked out Le'Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman and Elijah Holyfield on Monday. For now, Gus Edwards and Ty'Son Williams are the team's top healthy running backs.
Sep 6, 2021
Not practicing Monday
Hill (undisclosed) wasn't spotted at Monday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if Hill's absence is related to the ankle issue he previously dealt with, but the Ravens currently roster just two other running backs, Gus Edwards and Ty'Son Williams. For now, consider Hill day-to-day as next Monday's season opener against the Raiders approaches.
Sep 1, 2021
Returns to practice
Hill (ankle) is practicing Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
A return to practice 12 days before the season opener puts Hill in good position to play, though just a week ago he seemed to be losing his battle with Ty'Son Williams for one of the Ravens' final roster spots. J.K. Dobbins' season-ending ACL injury created room for both Williams and Hill to land backup roles, while Gus Edwards will join forces with QB Lamar Jackson to spearhead the Baltimore rushing attack. Even if he's limited to passing downs or a change-of-pace role Week 1 at Las Vegas, the 23-year-old Hill now sits just one injury away from likely relevance.
Aug 29, 2021
Could see added work
Hill, who has missed the last two preseason games with an ankle injury, is now in a better position to secure a role in Baltimore's ground game in the wake of the knee injury suffered by teammate J.K. Dobbins, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Dobbins projected to be out for the season, Gus Edwards is in line to be the Ravens' lead back, while Ty'Son Williams and Hill are in the mix for complementary touches. Whereas there had previously some doubt regarding Hill's prospects with the team, especially with Williams showing well this summer, Dobbins' injury seemingly paves the way for Hill to garner a role in Baltimore's offense as the 2021 campaign approaches.
Aug 28, 2021
Not expected to play
Hill (ankle) isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill injured his ankle in the preseason opener and hasn't practiced since. He entered camp as the favorite for the No. 3 RB job, but Ty'Son Williams gets another chance to make his case Saturday night.
Aug 19, 2021
Dealing with ankle sprain
Hill (ankle) hasn't practiced since Saturday's preseason win over New Orleans, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill sprained his ankle, likely during the exhibition. He finished with six touches for only 12 yards and now figures to miss Baltimore's second preseason contest Saturday against Carolina. With Hill being the favorite for the No. 3 spot at running back, his absence should give Ty'Son Williams more chances to make his own case for the role.
Aug 15, 2021
Quiet in preseason opener
Hill rushed five times for eight yards and caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's 17-14 preseason win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Hill was more effective on the ground than starter J.K. Dobbins (no gain on three carries), but the 2019 fourth-round pick's modest effort didn't make much of an impression in a game in which five Ravens rushed for 25-plus yards. Hill's likely to work as a gadget guy and possibly a return man on special teams, but he's little threat to Dobbins or Gus Edwards as an alternative on the ground. Up next for the Hill and the Ravens is a trip to Carolina for Week 2 of preseason.
May 4, 2021
Looking good for roster spot
Hill is in good position for Baltimore's No. 3 RB spot, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens didn't sign any veteran running backs this offseason, nor did they use any of their eight draft picks on the position. That's probably a vote of confidence in J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards more so than Hill, but it nonetheless puts Hill in good position for the No. 3 spot, which might just be the same role he handled late last season after Mark Ingram fell out of favor. Between the final five weeks of the regular season and two playoff games, Hill saw three carries and two targets on 35 offensive snaps, mostly handling third downs. While it isn't a role that comes with any inherent fantasy value, Hill does find himself just one injury away from a shot at more work on the ground.
Jan 5, 2021
Role diminishes in 2020
Hill had 12 carries for 60 yards and added five catches for 20 yards in 12 games this season.
ANALYSIS
Hill's already-minimal role evaporated in his second season as he dropped from 58 carries for 225 yards and two scores as a rookie to 12 carries for 60 yards in 2020. His snaps dropped from 193 to 73 as well. Rookie J.K. Dobbins has cemented himself as the primary ball carrier for Baltimore and the combo of Gus Edwards and quarterback Lamar Jackson take up most of the other carries. Even if Mark Ingram is gone next season, Hill doesn't appear to have a path to playing time in Baltimore entering his third year with the team.
Dec 29, 2020
Takes three snaps on offense
Hill did not receive any rush attempts or targets during Sunday's 27-13 win against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Hill garnered 14 of his 17 snaps on special teams during Baltimore's Week 16 win. The 23-year-old cost his team with a roughing the kicker penalty early in the fourth quarter, allowing New York to extend a drive that would ultimately culminate in the Giants' only touchdown of the game. Hill has more game appearances (11) than he does carries (10) as Baltimore heads into an all-too-familiar Week 17 matchup against the Bengals.
Dec 22, 2020
Posts eight-yard reception
Hill reeled in his only target for eight yards during Sunday's 40-14 win against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The second-year back from Oklahoma State registered his fourth catch in as many outings during Baltimore's Week 15 rout, though he remains uninvolved in the ground game. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards combined for 106 rushing yards and a TD on 23 RB carries, while Hill went without a rush attempt for the eighth time over 10 appearances this season. Hill is expected to continue contributing as a depth option Week 16 when Baltimore hosts the Giants' No. 6 rush defense.
Dec 10, 2020
Reverts to minor role
Hill had a four-yard reception on one target Tuesday against Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore getting both J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram back in the mix had a direct impact on Hill's playing time as he saw just six offensive snaps. The role Hill saw against the Cowboys was in line with how he has been used for every game outside of the Pittsburgh matchup in Week 12, which was his only outing with double-digit snaps on offense. Hill will remain an ancillary part of the Ravens' ground game as long as Dobbins, Ingram, and Gus Edwards are healthy and available.
Dec 8, 2020
Likely reverting to reserve role
Hill is active alongside running backs J.K. Dobbins, Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards for Tuesday's game versus Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Hill saw double-digit offensive snaps for the first time in 2020 last week against Pittsburgh and had 11 touches for 40 yards, but he should return to a minor offensive role with Ingram and Dobbins clear from COVID-19. Hill had only one touch in six games during 2020 before working as the change-of-pace option behind Edwards in Week 12.
Dec 2, 2020
Solid in extended opportunity
Hill rushed nine times for 35 yards and secured both targets for five yards in the Ravens' 19-14 loss to the Steelers on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The third-year back looked good on a couple of his runs, most notably on a game-long 19-yarder. Hill hadn't logged a carry all season before Wednesday, so he certainly had fresh legs and was able to use them to carve out a bit more success on the ground than backfield mate Gus Edwards. Despite showing some encouraging signs, the reality is Hill seems destined to revert back to anonymity if Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins are activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Tuesday night's Week 13 battle versus the Cowboys.
Nov 24, 2020
Change-of-pace role awaits
Hill is expected to serve as the top backup to Gus Edwards in Thursday's game against the Steelers after fellow running backs J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill, a 2019 fourth-round pick, has dressed for only six of the Ravens' 10 games this season, playing 108 of his 125 total snaps on special teams. This week's game will mark the first time this season the Ravens won't have two of their top three backs available, so Hill should be thrust into an offensive role out of necessity. Edwards and quarterback Lamar Jackson will most likely dominate the carries out of the backfield, but Edwards' limitations as a pass catcher could clear the way for Hill to step in as the Ravens' primary third-down back.
Nov 10, 2020
Role exclusive to special teams
Hill collected three tackles on 17 special-teams snaps, registering zero carries or targets on three offensive plays during Sunday's 24-10 win against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
With rookie second-round draft choice J.K. Dobbins now a member of Baltimore's backfield, Hill has gone without a rush attempt in 2020 after fielding 58 during his debut NFL season out of Oklahoma State last year. After dealing with a thigh injury throughout most of September, Hill has made game appearances in Weeks 4, 6, 8 and 9 while registering five total tackles. His offensive role is likely to remain obsolete, barring an injury ahead of him on the RB depth chart.
Nov 3, 2020
Gets first offensive work of 2020
Hill garnered two offensive snaps, though he did not register a carry during Sunday's 28-24 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Hill dealt with a September thigh injury that held him out early in the season, but since his Week 4 debut, the 22-year-old has played a nearly exclusive special-teams role. 57 of Hill's 59 total snaps have come in that department, while he's yet to garner a carry amongst Baltimore's talented RB stable. Week 8 did mark the first time in 2020 that Hill registered a snap on the offensive side, and perhaps a limited role will continue in the near future for him as Mark Ingram nurses a high-ankle injury.
Oct 4, 2020
Ready for season debut
Hill (thigh) is on the active roster for the Week 4 matchup against the Washington Football Team.
ANALYSIS
Hill hasn't taken the field all season after dealing with a thigh injury for the first two weeks and ending up as a healthy scratch in Week 3. That changes Sunday against the Washington Football Team, though it's admittedly unclear what, if any, role the second-year back might have on the offense (or if he'll be limited to special teams). Hill still presumably will have to work behind Mark Ingram, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards in terms of the pecking order for carries.
Sep 28, 2020
Healthy scratch Monday
Hill (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A thigh injury kept Hill out of the first two games this season, but he's healthy and will still sit out. Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins are expected to lead the backfield while Gus Edwards rotates in.
Sep 24, 2020
Practicing fully
Hill (thigh) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill is healthy enough to suit up Monday night against the Chiefs, however he's behind Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins in the Ravens' backfield pecking order and is thus off the fantasy radar as long as that context doesn't change.
Sep 20, 2020
Surprise scratch Sunday
Hill (thigh) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
This is surprising news, especially considering Hill logged full practice time Friday. The second-year pro is a bit buried on the running back depth chart, as he appears to be the fourth option. In his stead, look for Devin Duvernay to handle kick return duties in the meantime.
Sep 18, 2020
Questionable despite full practice
Hill (thigh) practiced fully Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Hill's ability to fully practice Friday means he's more likely to suit up than not. Even if he plays, Hill's likely to have a limited impact as the fourth running back on Baltimore's depth chart, though he should serve as the kick returner on special teams.
Sep 16, 2020
Limited Wednesday
Hill (thigh) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Hill didn't practice in any capacity last week, so logging a limited session Wednesday marks a step in the right direction. If he's able to get healthy in time to face the Texans on Sunday, Hill stands to play a depth role in Baltimore's crowded backfield.
Sep 11, 2020
Unavailable for Week 1
Hill (thigh) is ruled out for Sunday's season opener against the Browns, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's next chance to take the field will come Week 2 against the Texans. With Chris Moore (finger) also ruled out for Sunday's tilt against the Browns, Devin Duvernay and James Proche look like the top candidates to handle kick return duties for the Ravens.
Sep 10, 2020
Sitting out practice
Hill (thigh) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
With two absences from practice to begin the week, Hill will likely need to turn in at least a limited showing in Friday's session to garner a questionable designation heading into Sunday's season opener versus the Browns. As a rookie last season, Hill logged 58 carries as the team's No. 3 running back behind Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards, but the Oklahoma State product may have fallen to fourth on the depth chart this season after the Ravens selected another back (J.K. Dobbins) in the second round of April's draft.
Sep 9, 2020
Misses practice with thigh injury
Hill (thigh) did not practice Wednesday, Jonas Shaffer of the Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill finds his name on Baltimore's first injury report of the season. The change-of-pace back will hope to heal up in time for Sunday's season opener against the Browns.
Aug 31, 2020
Back to work Monday
Hill was back at practice Monday after dealing with a soft-tissue injury, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was sidelined for about a week while tending to the injury, as the specifics remained unclear. Now healthy, Hill is expected to be the featured kick returner in 2020 while being deployed in a depth role at running back.
Aug 23, 2020
Battling soft-tissue injury
Head coach John Harbaugh said Hill is dealing with a soft-tissue injury, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh didn't elaborate on the nature of Hill's injury, so it's a concerning report considering the wide range of outcomes. If Hill is forced to miss any time, it'll mainly affect special teams, where Hill features as a kick returner.
May 29, 2020
Still in team's plans, maybe
Coach John Harbaugh said he expects Hill to take a big step forward in his second pro season, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a reasonable expectation, but even an impressive offseason won't necessarily give the 2019 fourth-round pick a path to playing time in a backfield that also holds Mark Ingram, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. It sounds like Harbaugh may carry four tailbacks on the 53-man roster instead of his usual three, especially if Hill and Edwards prove useful on special teams. Hill played 187 snaps on offense and 97 on special teams last year, averaging 3.9 yards on 58 carries, 8.8 yards on eight receptions and 18.9 yards on 12 kickoff returns. Any hope for 2020 fantasy value likely involves a trade or an Ingram/Dobbins injury.
Apr 27, 2020
Facing added competition
Hill's depth chart spot is in question after the Ravens drafted J.K. Dobbins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 fourth-rounder had an invisible rookie season and the Dobbins addition does not bode well for him. At best, Hill is the No.4 running back on the depth chart behind Mark Ingram, Dobbins, and Gus Edwards. Hill will have an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster and could be a trade candidate come training camp.
Jan 23, 2020
No room to run as rookie
Hill finished his rookie season with 58 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns while adding eight catches for 70 yards on 15 targets.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore leaned on Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, and Gus Edwards in the run game, leaving very little room for Hill most weeks. His season-high in carries (10) came in a week where Ingram and Jackson were rested to get ready for the playoffs and his second-highest total (7) came in a blowout win over the Dolphins in the season opener. The explosiveness Hill showed in college didn't carry over right away in the NFL, either, as he managed just 3.9 YPC. Hill could be in line for a bigger role in 2020, but that would take the Ravens passing on re-signing Edwards, which seems unlikely. The Oklahoma State product does not have a clear path to production heading into the 2020 offseason.
