Johnson will look to log at least three targets for the fourth game in a row during the Saints' upcoming game versus Denver on Thursday Night Football.

The Saints' tight end got more involved Week 5, and Johnson benefitted with season-highs across the board. He also played over 70 percent of offensive snaps for the first time this year. Insetad, fellow tight end Foster Moreau hauled in a six-yard touchdown pass on his second and final target of the game in the fourth quarter. The Saints' passing game was still focused around Rashid Shaheed and Alvin Kamara, as these two logged nine and eight targets, respectively. It will be interesting to see how/if the team's offensive gameplan changes with quarterback Derek Carr expected to miss multiple weeks with an oblique injury sustained late in Monday's loss. In the meantime, either Jake Haener or rookie Spencer Rattler should step in under versus the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 13.

However, it appears the tight end position won't have nearly the same importance in the passing game under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Johnson will look to work his way back into a more consistent role during this coming Sunday's road game against the division-rival Falcons.

Instead, Foster Moreau got the start once again despite coming back from a concussion sustained in last week's win over Carolina. While it's too soon to make any definitive projections, it appears that tight end may not be a position that's highlighted in the offense of new coordinator Klint Kubiak. It will be worth monitoring if either Johnson or Moreau see more targets during next Sunday's home game against the Eagles.

The converted wide receiver, who caught a team-high seven touchdowns last season, has consistently showcased the unique athleticism that makes him a mismatch for opposing linebackers. Of course, Graham and James will need to fight for their roster spots, whereas Johnson, Moreau and Hill have larger contracts with considerable guarantees. There's still hope for Johnson to build on his 2022 breakout and perhaps see 5-6 targets per game after averaging 4.1 last year, but the crowded position group doesn't exactly help his fantasy outlook.

As long as Trautman remains healthy and available, however, Johnson is off the fantasy radar in most formats.

Moreover, Johnson's four touchdowns were more than Trautman (two) and Vannett (one) combined. While his overall stat line still wasn't very useful for fantasy purposes, Johnson had impressive moments for an undrafted player who changed positions ahead of his second season in the pros. As an exclusive-rights free agent, Johnson should be back in New Orleans in 2022, when he'll again look to push Trautman and Vannett for receiving reps at tight end.
