Leads team in receiving in loss
Allen caught four of six targets for 53 yards in the Chargers' 35-6 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen paced Los Angeles in targets, catches and receiving yards on a day Justin Herbert was under constant duress, completing just 10 of 18 passes for 81 scoreless yards and one interception prior to being removed from the game in the fourth quarter of the blowout defeat in favor of Trey Lance. Prior to Sunday, Allen hadn't topped 50 yards receiving in a game since Week 7, and he's gone without a touchdown in four consecutive contests. With the emergence of Oronde Gadsden and Quentin Johnston's return to health, Allen has taken more of a back seat in the passing game of late. The Chargers will now head into their Week 12 bye.
Nov 10, 2025
Sets franchise reception record
Allen had two receptions on five targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 25-10 win over Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
It was another low-volume game from Allen following last week's two-catch performance, finishing with five or fewer targets for the third straight contest. The 19 receiving yards also marked a new single-game low in what has been a productive return to the club that drafted the veteran wideout back in 2013. The longtime Charger set a franchise record by surpassing Antonio Gates as the all-time leader in receptions with his 956th catch in 12 years with the club. Allen will attempt to ramp his production back up in a soft matchup against the Jaguars next Sunday.
Nov 2, 2025
One long catch
Allen recorded two receptions on five targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Justin Herbert distributed targets evenly among his top pass catchers, as Allen tied for second on the team in targets with Orande Gadsden and Quentin Johnston. Allen finished with the lowest yardage total of that group, with nearly all of his production coming on a 31-yard catch late in the first quarter. After a hot start to the season, Allen has now recorded 50 receiving yards or fewer in three of the last four games.
Oct 24, 2025
Finishes with four catches Thursday
Allen brought in four of five targets for 44 yards in the Chargers' 37-10 win over the Vikings on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Ladd McConkey and Oronde Gadsden posted a combined 11-165-2 line, which rendered Allen a clear tertiary component of the air attack on the night. Nevertheless, the veteran receiver continued to offer serviceable real-world and fantasy production -- all of his receptions Thursday resulted in first downs -- and he extended his season-opening streak of games with at least four receptions to eight contests overall. Allen will take a 48-479-4 line on 70 targets into a Week 9 road matchup against the Titans on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Oct 19, 2025
Season-best numbers in Week 7 loss
Allen caught 11 of 14 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-24 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The targets, catches and yards were all season highs for the veteran wideout, who was Justin Herbert's most reliable option in the second half as the Chargers tried to mount a comeback from a 23-3 halftime deficit. Allen snapped a three-game scoring drought with the performance, and he'll carry a 44-435-4 line on 65 targets through seven contests into a Week 8 clash with a Vikings secondary that just surrendered a combined 13-304-3 line to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Oct 5, 2025
Leading receiver on nine targets
Allen brought in five of nine targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Allen finished as the Chargers' leading receiver in an overall forgettable offensive performance, resulting in middling fantasy numbers for managers Sunday. The veteran starter failed to hit pay dirt for the second week in a row after kicking off the campaign with a three-game scoring streak. Allen is still providing a solid fantasy floor by averaging 8.8 targets/game in his return to the Chargers, making him a safe option for next Sunday's tilt against Miami.
Sep 28, 2025
Five grabs in Week 4 loss
Allen caught five of seven targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout failed to haul in at least 60 yards for the first time this season and saw his TD streak end at three games, but Allen still racked up at least five receptions for the fourth straight week to begin his reunion with the Chargers. He'll take a 24-231-3 line on 35 targets into Week 5's clash with a vulnerable Commanders secondary.
Sep 21, 2025
Scores yet again
Allen caught seven of his 11 targets for 65 yards and the game-tying touchdown in the 23-20 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen made a terrific adjustment on a broken play in the fourth quarter, jumping through the defender to snare a 20-yard touchdown that tied the game. If it wasn't clear through the first two weeks, it's obvious now. The veteran is clearly Justin Herbert's preferred target especially when a play breaks down, and the duo's uncanny connection has only become more potent with the emergence of Quentin Johnston (six catches on 10 targets for 89 yards) alongside the reliable Ladd McConkey. Allen has now led the team in targets for three straight weeks and continues to be a key piece of dominant offense.
Sep 16, 2025
Two straight weeks with TDs
Allen caught five of his team-leading seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the 20-9 win over the Raiders on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Allen continues to be Mr. Reliable for Justin Herbert, capitalizing on a nifty bit of scrambling by the quarterback in the second quarter to toe tap in the back of the end zone for another touchdown in as many weeks. While the veteran may have lost a shade of elusiveness after the catch, Allen's crafty route running is turning into the ultimate safety blanket and has arguably cut into Ladd McConkey's (five catches on five targets for 48 yards) seemingly airtight projected volume to kickstart the 2025 campaign.
Sep 6, 2025
Balls out like he never left
Allen finished with seven receptions on 10 targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 27-21 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Signed exactly one month ago, Allen hopped into the Chargers' starting lineup and balled like he never departed for Chicago last season. The 33-year-old wound up leading Los Angeles in targets (10) and receptions (seven) while securing his 60th touchdown as a member for the Chargers. Allen's fantasy value in drafts matched his free agent appeal up until Friday's renaissance, but the veteran is definitely worth consideration against the Raiders next Monday.
Aug 5, 2025
Headed back to Los Angeles
Allen and the Chargers agreed on a one-year, $8.52 million contract Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is headed back home to the Chargers with whom he spent the first 11 seasons of his career with from 2013-2023. The 33-year-old spent the 2024 campaign with the Bears, catching 70 of 121 targets for 744 yards and seven touchdowns over 15 regular-season games. Allen will now reunite with quarterback Justin Herbert after recording 108 catches for 1,243 yards and seven scores in their most recent campaign together in 2023. The wide receiver will look to pick up where he left off in Los Angeles, and he'll likely have a relatively high floor from a fantasy perspective in 2025.
Aug 1, 2025
Visiting the Chargers
Allen is visiting the Chargers on Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, there is mutual interest in a potential reunion, after Allen -- who was drafted by the Chargers in 2013 -- spent last season with the Bears. Following the retirement of Mike Williams, WR slotting behind Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston is up grabs, and adding a player of Allen's stature could provide a nice boost to Los Angeles' passing attack.
Jul 23, 2025
Talking with teams
Allen still hopes to play in 2025 and has drawn interest from multiple teams recently, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
ANALYSIS
Schultz suggests Allen is in no hurry to sign, with the first week or two of training camp potentially helping him get a better picture of which teams need help at wide receiver. He turned 33 in April after finishing 2024 with career lows in multiple categories, including receiving yards per game (49.6) and yards per target (6.2). Allen should at least have enough left to compete for a slot role somewhere, but he's unlikely to approach last year's total of 121 targets (in 15 games) for the Bears.
Jan 5, 2025
Three catches in Week 18 win
Allen brought in all three targets for 25 yards in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday. He also threw incomplete on one pass attempt.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout nearly threw an interception on a trick play and finished a distant second in receiving yards for the Bears on the afternoon. Allen followed up a highly productive two-game stretch in Week 15-16 (15-223-2) with a modest eight receptions for 50 yards over the last pair of contests of his first Bears season, but he figures to once again serve as a critical target for Caleb Williams under a new offensive system in 2025.
Dec 26, 2024
Does little with five grabs
Allen brought in five of eight targets for 25 yards in the Bears' 6-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a spectacular nine-catch, 141-yard, one-touchdown showing against the Lions in Week 16, Allen, and the Bears' offense as a whole for that matter, experienced a major downturn in the disappointing defeat. The veteran receiver did tie DJ Moore for the team lead in targets while finishing second to his teammate in receptions. Allen has at least five catches in three consecutive contests heading into the Week 18 regular-season finale at Lambeau Field against the Packers on Sunday, Jan. 5.
Dec 22, 2024
Another impressive effort in loss
Allen secured nine of 13 targets for 141 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen led the Bears across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets while either tying (catches, targets) or setting (yardage) new season bests in each category. The veteran wideout also scored his fifth touchdown in the last five games on a perfectly timed throw-and-catch sequence between him and Caleb Williams that covered 45 yards late in the second quarter. Allen now has at least five receptions and 73 receiving yards in four of the last five games, his most productive stretch of the season as a Week 17 home matchup against the Seahawks awaits Thursday night.
Dec 17, 2024
Vintage performance Monday
Allen had six receptions (on 13 targets) for 82 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 30-12 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Allen bounced back from last week's dud against the 49ers (3-30-0) with a performance against the Vikings that was reminiscent of his dominant days with the Chargers. After a terribly slow start to the season, the veteran wideout has posted a 23-271-4 receiving line over his last four contests. Allen will attempt to keep his recent string of hot play going in Week 16 against the Lions on Sunday.
Dec 8, 2024
Held to 30 yards Sunday
Allen (ankle) brought in three of five of targets for 30 receiving yards in Sunday's 38-13 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Allen overcame a minor ankle injury during the practice week in order to suit up for Sunday's eventual loss. The seasoned veteran posted vanilla numbers on the heels of his two most-productive games. Allen has underwhelmed in Chicago outside of the two aforementioned performances, averaging just 3.7 receptions and 34.7 yards in nine other active games this season. Perhaps the 32-year-old has finally lost a step in his 12th year, or his down numbers could simply be the result of the Bears' overall ineptitude on offense. Whatever the case, Allen checks in as a middling fantasy option ahead of next Monday's road tilt against the Vikings.
Dec 5, 2024
Returns as full practice participant
Allen (ankle) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen sat out Wednesday's practice due to the ankle issue, but his ability to take every rep a day later likely indicates that his absence to begin Week 14 prep was maintenance-related. Meanwhile, top wideout DJ Moore (quadricep) has sat out both of the Bears' practices this week, clouding his status for Sunday's game at San Francisco. If Moore's injury forces him to miss his first contest of the season, Allen would likely be in store for an expanded profile in Chicago's passing attack.
Dec 4, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Allen didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Allen was among three key Bears skill-position players -- also, fellow WR DJ Moore (quadriceps) and RB D'Andre Swift (quadriceps) -- that didn't log any work to begin Week 14 prep. Allen rolled his ankle during a Nov. 22 practice, so his absence Wednesday may be maintenance related. Still, his status will be monitored as the week goes on to determine whether his availability for Sunday's game at San Francisco may be in question.
Nov 28, 2024
Two Thanksgiving touchdowns
Allen caught five passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns on eight targets against Detroit on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen's eight targets were just over half as much target volume as he commanded in Week 12, but the per-target returns were more efficient for Allen against the Lions. The Chicago passing game did next to nothing in the first half, but Allen was very productive in the second half, scoring both of his touchdowns. The Bears offense is still clunky at best, but Allen's fantasy prospects have taken a turn for the better by drawing 23 targets over the last two weeks. He'll try to keep rolling at San Francisco in Week 14.
Nov 24, 2024
Commands 15 targets
Allen recorded nine receptions on 15 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Allen earned a season-best 15 targets, his third-double digit target total of the campaign. Though he wasn't particularly efficient, he managed to top 45 receiving yards for the first time as a Bear, highlighted by a 40-yard catch and run midway through the first quarter. Allen also tallied his third touchdown of the season with 22 seconds remaining in the game to help set up a remarkable comeback that ultimately fell just short. While it was a positive performance, Allen's track record in Chicago suggests he may not replicate it any time soon.
Nov 24, 2024
Active Sunday
Allen (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Allen rolled his ankle in practice Friday, and afterward he relayed to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times that he was dealing with some stiffness. He subsequently was listed as questionable for Week 12 action, but both the wide receiver and coach Matt Eberflus (via Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com) expressed optimism that he'd be able to suit up. Indeed, that has come pass, and Allen now will be taking on a Vikings pass defense Sunday that ranks 28th in the NFL versus the pass (234.8 yards per game).
Nov 24, 2024
Looking good for Sunday
Allen (ankle) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but the Bears are confident he'll be able to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen made an early exit from Friday's practice after rolling his ankle, but both he and head coach Matt Eberflus expressed optimism afterwards that the wideout would be ready to go for Sunday. With nothing seemingly changing on that front in the day following the Bears' last Week 12 practice, Allen should be formally cleared to play when Chicago releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the game's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Since finding the end zone twice in the Bears' Week 6 demolition of the Jaguars, Allen has been held scoreless in the four games following the team's Week 7 bye, turning in a 15-160-0 receiving line on 31 targets during that stretch.
Nov 22, 2024
Optimism for Sunday
Coach Matt Eberflus said Allen rolled his ankle at Friday's practice, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but the Bears are "hopeful" the wide receiver will be able to suit up, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After Allen got injured, the Bears pulled him halfway through Friday's session. Allen himself told Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times that his ankle has some stiffness, but he also expects to be able to go this weekend. Ultimately, Allen's availability will be confirmed, one way or another, about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 22, 2024
Questionable due to ankle injury
Allen (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Allen popped up on the injury report as a limited participant in practice Friday. The late-week timing of the injury is concerning, but the veteran wide receiver's status likely won't be clarified until close to 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. When he's healthy, Allen has been outproduced by DJ Moore and Rome Odunze recently in a Bears passing game that hasn't produced a touchdown since Week 6.
Nov 17, 2024
Four catches in Week 11 loss
Allen secured four of eight targets for 41 yards in the Bears' 20-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen finished third in receptions and second in targets in the Bears' first game under interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, and the veteran recorded a clutch 12-yard grab on Chicago's final drive. Allen has at least four receptions in three straight games, but his short-area role -- he hasn't eclipsed 44 receiving yards in any game -- is likely to continue capping his fantasy appeal despite the change at coordinator.
Nov 10, 2024
Leading receiver in Week 10 loss
Allen caught five of six targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
While his production was modest, it was was enough to lead Chicago in catches and receiving yards, and the 44 yards were actually a season high for the former Charger. Injuries along the offensive line have completely sabotaged the Bears' offense -- Caleb Williams was sacked nine times Sunday -- but Allen's reliability as a possession receiver at least allows him to maintain a decent PPR floor. Unless the offensive line gets healthier though, it will be tough to rely on any part of the Chicago offense heading into a Week 11 rivalry game against Green Bay.
Nov 3, 2024
Abysmal showing against Arizona
Allen recorded four receptions on 10 targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 29-9 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Allen led the Bears in targets and commanded his highest total since Week 1. However, that didn't help him get on track with Caleb Williams as he averaged only 3.6 yards per target despite decent gains of 13 and 11 yards. Allen has managed to surpass 40 yards in a game just once in six chances on the campaign.
Oct 27, 2024
Can't get going with seven targets
Allen recorded two receptions on seven targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Allen led the team with seven targets -- his highest mark since Week 1 -- a particularly notable total given that Caleb Williams took to the air only 24 times. His stat line left plenty to be desired, though he did manage a key 22-yard reception late in the fourth quarter to set up a go-ahead touchdown. Despite some reasons for optimism, Allen has yet to record more than 41 receiving yards in a game this season.
Oct 13, 2024
Breakout effort in London win
Allen brought in all five targets for 41 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 35-16 win over the Jaguars on Sunday in London.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout finally had his first truly productive showing in a Bears uniform, with Allen securing touchdown grabs of nine and three yards in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. Allen finished tied with Cole Kmet for the team lead in receptions and second to his teammate in receiving yards while posting season-high totals in both categories. Allen's fantasy value is still likely to be capped on the weeks he doesn't get into the end zone, but Sunday's performance at least affords him some much-needed momentum heading into a Week 7 bye.
Oct 6, 2024
Just three catches again
Allen caught three of six targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 36-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Allen set a season high in receiving yards, but he has yet to post a breakout performance with the Bears. A two-game absence due to a heel injury contributed to his slow start, so at least Allen appears healthy after suiting up for each of Chicago's last two games. The veteran wide receiver has a nice opportunity to get on track in a Week 6 London matchup against a weak Jacksonville secondary.
Sep 29, 2024
Three grabs in return
Allen brought in all three targets for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-18 win over the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a two-game absence due to a heel injury, Allen was a complementary piece of the passing attack on a day when Caleb Williams only threw for 157 yards and a touchdown. Despite the modest numbers Sunday, fantasy managers can take some solace in the fact DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, Allen's fellow wideouts, combined for just four catches and 32 receiving yards in their own right. Allen could have a larger role in a favorable Week 5 home matchup against the Panthers.
Sep 29, 2024
Active in Week 4
Allen (heel) is active for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout was able to work back to a full practice Friday after opening the week with consecutive limited sessions, and his Week 4 return is now official. Allen will be taking the field for the first time since Week 1, when he provided a 4-29 line on 11 targets. With Allen back in the fold Sunday, rookie first-round pick Rome Odunze, who's coming off a career-best 6-112-1 line against the Colts in Week 3, is expected to slide back into a No. 3 receiver role versus Los Angeles.
Sep 28, 2024
Plans to play in Week 4
Allen (heel) is planning on playing Sunday versus the Rams, per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
ANALYSIS
Allen was reportedly already expected to give it a go in Week 4 after missing the Bears' last two contests due to a heel injury, but the wide receiver himself said Saturday that he plans to play. The 32-year-old caught four of 11 targets for 29 yards in Week 1 versus the Titans and he'll look to build off of that against Los Angeles.
Sep 27, 2024
Expected to play
The Bears expect Allen to play Sunday against the Rams, and the wideout said he doesn't think his heel injury will continue bothering him this year, ESPN.com's Courtney Cronin reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is listed as questionable after missing the past two games, but an upgrade to full practice participation Friday suggests he might be closer to 'probable' if the designation still existed. His optimism about any lingering hinderance shouldn't necessarily be shared by fantasy managers, considering Allen dealt with a similar problem in his heel/foot late last season and has been bothered by the current injury through most of August and September. He drew 11 targets in the season opener, but the Bears may consider scaling back his workload -- both in terms of snaps and targets -- if they're worried about Allen aggravating his heel injury and missing additional time. It sounds like only a late setback would land him on the inactive list ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Sep 27, 2024
Listed as questionable after FP
Allen (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams after upgrading to full practice participation Friday.
ANALYSIS
Players that finish the week as full participants almost always play, but Allen's case remains worth monitoring given that his heel problems date back to last season and may be a lingering theme this year. He caught four of 11 targets for 29 yards in a Week 1 win over the Titans before aggravating his heel injury in the fourth quarter and missing the next two games. If Allen avoids the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, his presence will lower volume projections for all of Chicago's other pass catchers while knocking DeAndre Carter out of his spot in three-wide sets. Fellow wideout Rome Odunze has avoided a designation on the final injury report after a hip issue limited his practice participation Thursday.
Sep 26, 2024
Another limited showing
Allen (heel) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen played through a heel issue Week 1 against the Titans en route to four catches (on 11 targets) for 29 yards. He then was held out of all drills during prep for Weeks 2 and 3 before returning to practice Wednesday. With consecutive capped sessions in his back pocket this week, Allen seems to be putting himself in a position to suit up again Sunday versus the Rams, but Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation. Meanwhile, rookie WR Rome Odunze (hip) showed up on Thursday's report as a limited participant, adding another question mark to the Bears' receiving corps.
Sep 25, 2024
Officially limited Wednesday
Allen (heel) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Allen's official standing on Wednesday's practice report is official confirmation of head coach Matt Eberflus' earlier announcement that the veteran wideout would resume practicing as a partial participant. Wednesday's session constitutes Allen's first practice activity in two weeks. Eberflus also said he's "hopeful" Allen will be able to both retake the field for Sunday's game against the Rams, and remain healthy for the long term this season. In any case, Allen will have two more opportunities to upgrade to 'full' participation at practice prior to Sunday's home game against Los Angeles.
Sep 25, 2024
Returning to practice Wednesday
Coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Allen (heel) will return to practice as a partial participant, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen's heel injury has prevented him from practicing or playing the last two weeks, but it sounds like he'll be back on the field and listed as 'limited' Wednesday. Eberflus said he's "hopeful" Allen will be able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Rams, per Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network, as well as remain available for the long term. Allen's heel issue may be something he has to manage over the course of the season, after the veteran wideout missed time due to it mid-August and also dealt with a heel injury down the stretch of the 2023 season with the Chargers. Elsewhere in the Bears' receiving corps, rookie first-rounder Rome Odunze broke out with six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in Chicago's 21-16 loss to the Colts in Week 3.
Sep 20, 2024
Ruled out for Week 3
Allen (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen hasn't practiced at all since aggravating his heel injury during a Week 1 win over the Titans. He'll now miss a second straight game, whereas fellow Bears wideout Rome Odunze (knee) avoids an injury designation after upgrading to full practice participation Friday.
Sep 19, 2024
No practice Thursday
Allen (heel) didn't participate in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was listed with a heel injury during Week 1 prep but still suited up in the Bears' season-opening win against the Titans, turning 11 targets into four catches for 29 yards. Since then, he hasn't logged any practice reps and also didn't play Week 2 at Houston. As such, Allen may need to mix into drills Friday to give him a chance to be available Sunday in Indianapolis.
Sep 18, 2024
Won't practice Wednesday
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Allen (heel) will not participate in practice, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed all three of Chicago's official practice sessions last week, missing Chicago's loss to the Texans as a result. Eberflus said the team is "trying to get [Allen] back on the grass as soon as we can," but at this point it's unclear when a realistic target for the veteran wideout to resume handling practice reps will be. If Allen is unable to play Sunday versus Indianapolis, all of DeAndre Carter, Tyler Scott and Collin Johnson will once again be candidates to see increased roles behind No. 1 wideout DJ Moore and rookie first-round pick Rome Odunze.
Sep 15, 2024
Not playing Sunday
Allen (heel) is listed as inactive Sunday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Allen was able to play through his heel injury Week 1 against the Titans, but the issue capped him to one limited session (Friday) this past week, leaving him questionable heading into the weekend. Earlier Sunday, though, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported Allen was trending more toward the doubtful side of the equation, and the veteran wideout indeed won't be available Week 2. DJ Moore remains the Bears' No. 1 option at the position, with Rome Odunze (knee), DeAndre Carter, Tyler Scott and Collin Johnson the other WRs available for QB Caleb Williams on Sunday.
Sep 15, 2024
Looking unlikely against Texans
Allen (heel), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Texans, is seen as more leaning to doubtful for the the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen took a questionable tag into the weekend after he sat out practices Wednesday and Thursday on account of the heel injury before returning to the field Friday as a limited participant. The veteran wideout is scheduled to go through a pregame workout before the Bears make a call on his availability when the team releases its inactive list 90 minutes before kickoff. Elsewhere in the Bears' receiving corps, Rome Odunze (knee) is also listed as questionable but appears to have stronger odds than Allen of playing.
Sep 15, 2024
Viewed as game-time decision
Allen (heel), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Texans, is viewed as a game-time decision leading up to the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Even if Allen is active, Schefter cautions that the 32-year-old could play more sparingly than usual. Elsewhere in the Bears' receiving corps, Rome Odunze (knee) is also listed as questionable but appears to have stronger odds of playing than Allen.
Sep 13, 2024
No practice, listed as questionable
Allen (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Houston after missing another practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Fellow wideout Rome Odunze (knee) returned to practice Friday as a limited participant and also is listed as questionable. Allen's absences from Wednesday through Friday aren't the best sign, but the Bears at least are leaving the door open ahead of a 8:20 ET kickoff Sunday night. Allen dealt with the heel injury for much of August and aggravated it in the fourth quarter of a Week 1 win over the Titans.
Sep 12, 2024
Misses practice Thursday
Allen (heel) didn't take part in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Allen was able to suit up Week 1 against the Titans after going limited, limited and full on the first three practice reports of the season due to a heel injury. He's kicked off this week with back-to-back absences, but coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that the veteran wide receiver was getting the day off for rest purposes, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. Position mate Rome Odunze (knee) also hasn't practiced this week, so Friday's report may be telling for the duo's odds to suit up Sunday in Houston.

Given rest day to manage heel issue
Coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Allen (heel) will get a rest day at practice, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen appears to still be dealing with the heel injury he initially picked up mid-August, and he briefly went into the injury tent mid-game Week 1, but his absence from Wednesday's practice is officially being labeled a rest day. Eberflus said the Bears will further evaluate the veteran wideout Thursday. Meanwhile, rookie wideout Rome Odunze (knee) is considered day-to-day due to an MCL sprain, and Colleen Kane of The Chicago Tribune reports that DJ Moore also made a stop in the injury tent Week 1, but like Allen he was able to retake the field.
Sep 8, 2024
Top target in Chicago
Allen recorded four receptions on 11 targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Like the entire Chicago offense, Allen disappointed in Week 1. He was extremely inefficient, averaging only 2.6 yards per target with a long reception of nine yards. Positively, Allen was the most-targeted option of the Bears' three top receivers, so when Caleb Williams presumably improves, Allen should be a significant beneficiary.
Sep 8, 2024
Active in Week 1
Allen (heel) is listed as active Sunday against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
On Aug. 28, Bears GM Ryan Poles relayed to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com that Allen was dealing with discomfort in his foot, but the expectation at the time was that the veteran wide receiver would be available Week 1. Allen kicked off this week with back-to-back limited showings due to a listed heel injury, but despite progressing to a full session Friday, he entered the weekend as questionable to play Sunday. Now that his status is confirmed, he'll serve as one of Chicago's top pass catchers for rookie QB Caleb Williams along with fellow WRs DJ Moore and Rome Odunze and TE Cole Kmet.
Sep 7, 2024
Likely to suit up Sunday
Allen (heel) is expected to play in Sunday's Week 1 contest against Tennessee, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is officially listed as questionable for the matchup, but Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has stated that he expects the veteran wideout to suit up. That's not a surprise given that Allen was able to log a full practice session Friday following a pair of limited sessions to begin the week. With DJ Moore lined up to be Chicago's No. 1 wideout and promising rookie Rome Odunze also in the fold, Allen will look to establish a rapport with No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams in what will be the USC product's NFL regular-season debut.
Sep 6, 2024
Questionable despite full practice
Allen (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans despite upgrading to full practice participation Friday.
ANALYSIS
The upgrade to 'full' after limited practices Wednesday and Thursday suggests Allen is on track to play. He was first reported to be dealing with foot discomfort last Wednesday, and there hasn't been any indication of a serious injury subsequently. Any limitations or in-game setbacks could help rookie wideout Rome Odunze get more playing time in his regular-season debut.
Sep 5, 2024
Another limited practice
Allen (heel) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
By the end of August, Allen had developed what GM Ryan Poles called discomfort in his foot, and the Bears' first injury report of Week 1 revealed the issue to be to his heel. He thus has just one more chance to get back to full Friday before the Bears potentially hand him a designation for Sunday's contest versus the Titans. Allen would yield targets to fellow WRs DJ Moore and Rome Odunze if he's inhibited or out this weekend.
Sep 4, 2024
Limited by heel injury
Allen was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a heel injury.
ANALYSIS
Allen sat out practice Aug. 28 due to discomfort in his foot, but the issue since has been clarified to be to his heel. After returning to drills Wednesday, he'll have two more opportunities this week to get back to all activity before the Bears potentially give him a designation ahead of Sunday's contest against the Titans. If he remains banged up or even is sidelined this weekend, Allen's absence would open up targets for DJ Moore and rookie first-rounder Rome Odunze.
Aug 28, 2024
Dealing with foot discomfort
Allen missed practice Wednesday due to foot discomfort, but Bears GM Ryan Poles said the wide receiver should be fine for Week 1 against the Titans, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Poles suggested the problem had something to do with Allen's cleats. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like the Bears are too concerned, but fantasy managers will still want to keep an eye out to make sure Allen returns to practice in the coming days. The 32-year-old is part of a hyper-talented WR room that also includes DJ Moore and ninth overall pick Rome Odunze.
Aug 17, 2024
Plays three drives
Allen was held without a catch on one target in Sunday's preseason game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Allen and DJ Moore were removed after three drives, all three-and-outs, while many of the Bears' other top players (including QB Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze) continued playing deep into the second quarter. Oddly, much of the discussion about Allen in recent weeks has centered on his weight, after SI's Albert Breer's offhand mention in an article that Allen is 230 pounds. That doesn't seem accurate, and the 32-year-old looks about the same as he did last season when the Chargers listed him at 211 pounds (the Bears' roster has him at 211 as well).
Jun 5, 2024
Hoping to play long beyond 2024
Allen said Monday that he's "going to play as long as I can" and is willing to sign an extension with Chicago, Patrick Finley of The Chicago-Sun Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bears reportedly haven't offered anything since trading for Allen in March, which isn't exactly a surprise given that they drafted Rome Odunze six weeks later and may want to sign DJ Moore to an extension this offseason. Regardless of what happens with the contracts, first overall pick Caleb Williams will have one of the best WR trios in the league, with Moore and Allen both coming off 2023 seasons with career highs for yards per game and fantasy points per game. Allen is likely looking at a big volume dip in his age-32 season after averaging a league-high 11.5 targets in his 13 games for the Chargers last year, but he doesn't seem to be thinking about retirement just yet, instead perhaps looking for another productive season and a big fourth contract. He's expected to be the Bears' slot receiver in three-wide formations and their Z receiver in two-wide looks.
May 2, 2024
Part of loaded offense in Chicago
Allen, DJ Moore and Rome Odunze all worked out with new Bears QB Caleb Williams in April, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams and Odunze weren't on the team at the time, though in Williams' everyone knew he'd be going to Chicago with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 Draft. The Bears then took Odunze eight picks later, completing a fearsome WR trio with Allen and Moore. It's a situation that will make it nearly impossible for Allen to match his target volume from his years in San Diego and Los Angeles, even if Odunze needs some time to adjust to the pro game. Allen celebrated his 32nd birthday during the draft and is entering the final year of his contract, with GM Ryan Poles having said in March that he expected the veteran WR to sign an extension at some points. It's unclear if the Odunze selection changes the expectation for Alllen to sign a multi-year deal, as the Bears have enough cap flexibility to keep all three WRs for the next few seasons if that's what they choose to prioritize.
Mar 25, 2024
Could sign extension this offseason
GM Ryan Poles said Monday that he thinks Allen will sign an extension with the Bears "down the road" after the team handles other contracts, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Poles seems to be suggesting that the Bears first want to work out extensions for players that have been with the team longer, though they already took care of two big ones in DE Montez Sweat (November) and CB Jaylon Johnson (March). Allen's new partner at wide receiver might be next in line, as DJ Moore's contract has two more seasons and $32.1 million but nothing guaranteed. Allen has one year and $23.1 million remaining, with the large sum explaining why the Chargers traded him for a mere fourth-round pick on the heels of a 2023 campaign in which he had career highs of 95.6 receiving yards and 21.5 PPR points per game (both numbers ranking Top 4 among all WRs). Allen missed the final four games with a heel injury and will turn 32 in April, but there's been no report of offseason surgery or any complications, so he should be a huge asset in the short term for presumed No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
Mar 14, 2024
Dealt to Bears
Allen (heel) was traded from the Chargers to the Bears in exchange for a fourth-round pick Thursday, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has been a key figure in the Chargers' offense for the last 11 seasons, but salary cap problems and a new coaching staff and front office have caused the team to move on. Despite entering his age-32 season, Allen has shown few signs of decline, as he racked up 150 targets across only 13 games in 2023. He turned that into 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns while also tallying a career-best 19 receptions of at least 20 yards. Allen will face some questions on his new team, however, as DJ Moore is the established top pass catcher in the offense, meaning Allen could lose out on some of his prolific target volume. While the Bears are expected to draft Caleb Williams with the top overall pick, it's also still unclear who will be under center in Week 1.
Jan 5, 2024
Fourth consecutive absence Week 18
Allen (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allen will miss a fourth consecutive game to end the season. It's an unfortunate finish to an otherwise excellent campaign from the veteran wide receiver, who finishes with 108 catches on 150 targets for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns in just 13 games. Allen has one more year remaining on his contract, but there is a potential out in his deal this offseason, so it's possible that his tenure with the Chargers will come to an end after 11 seasons.
Jan 4, 2024
Still not practicing
Allen (heel) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen, who last suited up in Week 14, also didn't practice Wednesday and doesn't seem especially likely to play in his team's season finale Sunday against the Chiefs, with the Chargers eliminated from playoff contention. If Allen remains sidelined this weekend, Joshua Palmer could lead the Los Angeles WR corps versus Kansas City if he's able to progress fully through the NFL's concussion protocol ahead of Week 18 action.
Jan 3, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Allen (heel) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen has missed the last three games, and there doesn't appear to be any incentive for him to play in Sunday's Week 18 finale against the Chiefs with the Chargers' playoff chances already gone. While Allen was sidelined Wednesday, Joshua Palmer (concussion) was able to get in a limited session.
Dec 29, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Allen (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Joshua Palmer (concussion), which sets the stage for Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson, Jalen Guyton and Derius Davis to lead the Chargers' Week 17 WR corps. Allen will now target a potential return to action in the team's season finale against the Chiefs.
Dec 29, 2023
Sits out another practice
Allen (heel) didn't take part in Friday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is tending to a heel injury for a third consecutive week, a span in which he hasn't been able to log any on-field work. Ultimately, the Chargers may make a decision on his availability for Sunday's game at Denver as soon as they post their final Week 17 injury report later Friday. If Allen logs a third straight absence this weekend and fellow wide receiver Josh Palmer (concussion) joins him on the sideline, L.A. may be down to Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson, Jalen Guyton and Derius Davis as its top options at the position.
Dec 28, 2023
Still not practicing
Allen (heel) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Joshua Palmer (concussion), though Popper notes that both players were spotted doing some agility work and running off to the side with trainers Thursday. Added context regarding the duo's status status for Sunday's game against the Broncos will arrive no later than Friday's injury report. For now, Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson, Jalen Guyton and Derius Davis are the Chargers' healthiest wide receiver options.
Dec 27, 2023
Misses practice Wednesday
Allen (heel) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen -- who last suited up in Week 14 -- didn't practice at all last week, so his continued absence Wednesday clouds his status for Sunday's game against the Broncos. With fellow wide receiver Joshua Palmer also missing practice Wednesday due to a concussion, the Chargers' top healthy options at the position are currently Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson and Jalen Guyton.
Dec 21, 2023
Won't play Saturday
Allen (heel) has been ruled out for Saturday night's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Allen thus is slated to miss his second straight game, which sets the stage for Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnston to lead the Chargers' Week 16 wide receiver corps, with Jalen Guyton and Alex Erickson also candidates to factor in. Allen's next chance to return to action will arrive Sunday, Dec. 31 against the Broncos.
Dec 21, 2023
Remains absent from practice
Allen (heel) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen hasn't practiced in any fashion since emerging from a Dec. 10 loss to the Broncos with a heel injury and looks likely to miss a second consecutive game Saturday versus the Bills. If Allen is ruled out for Saturday's contest upon the release of the Chargers' final injury report of the week later Thursday, Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston and Jalen Guyton would likely serve as the top three options at receiver for quarterback Easton Stick, who will make a second straight start in place of Justin Herbert (finger).
Dec 20, 2023
Misses practice again
Allen (heel) isn't practicing Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was spotted working on the side with a trainer Tuesday but still hasn't participated in practice at all since Week 14. He thus appears uncertain for Saturday's game against Buffalo, with the Chargers' lack of playoff hopes potentially being a factor in the ultimate active/inactive decision.
Dec 19, 2023
No practice Tuesday
Allen (heel) officially didn't practice Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
After Allen was seen working on the side with a team trainer earlier Tuesday, per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, the wide receiver's eventual listing on the Chargers' first Week 16 injury report was of great interest. However, Allen maintained his lack of activity from last week, giving him just two more chances to mix into drills ahead of Saturday's game against the Bills.
Dec 19, 2023
Seen at practice Tuesday
Allen (heel) was spotted working with a team trainer on the side at Tuesday's practice, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Whether or not Allen mixes into drills to kick off Week 16 prep remains to be seen, but he was estimated as a non-participant on all three injury reports last week before the Chargers ruled him out ahead of last Thursday's game at Las Vegas due to a heel issue. Tuesday's practice report will reveal if the 11-year pro is able to handle any work.
Dec 13, 2023
Won't face Raiders
Allen (heel) won't play Thursday night against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
In a game that will be started by Easton Stick, with Justin Herbert now on IR with a finger injury, the Chargers will also be without their top pass-catcher in Week 15. In his absence, Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson and Jalen Guyton are in line to lead the team's WR corps versus Las Vegas. Allen will now target a potential return to action Dec. 23 against the Bills.
Dec 12, 2023
Remains idle for practice
Allen (heel) was listed as a non-participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice.
ANALYSIS
Following Sunday's 24-7 loss to the Broncos, the Chargers didn't hold any on-field work Monday, but Allen was nonetheless estimated as a non-participant while he manages the heel issue. The Chargers held only a light walk-through session Tuesday, but Allen once again remained a spectator. He'll have one more opportunity to take some practice reps this week before the Chargers potentially hand him a designation for Thursday's game against the Raiders. Even if Allen is able to play Thursday while facing no restrictions with his snap count, his fantasy stock has undoubtedly taken a hit moving forward after quarterback Justin Herbert was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a season-ending injury. Easton Stick -- who has made just two appearances in his five-year professional career -- will step in as the Chargers' starting quarterback beginning with Thursday's game.
Dec 11, 2023
Opens week with DNP on estimate
Allen (heel) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Allen caught six passes in this past Sunday's 24-7 win over the Broncos, setting a new personal best and franchise record with 108 receptions on the season, but he emerged from the game nursing a heel injury. The veteran wide receiver could still rejoin his teammates when they begin holding actual practices Tuesday, but Allen's status bears monitoring on a short week before Thursday's road game in Vegas. Quarterback Justin Herbert (finger) was unsurprisingly listed as a non-participant as well Monday and is expected to miss Thursday's game due to a fractured finger on his throwing hand, so if Allen's able to play Thursday, he'll likely be catching passes from backup Easton Stick.
Dec 10, 2023
Sets franchise mark in loss
Allen caught six of his 12 targets for 68 yards in the 24-7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen set both a career high and franchise record Sunday for most receptions in a season (108) despite playing in four fewer games to this point. Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert left the game late in the second quarter with an injury to a finger on his throwing hand, but Allen fantasy managers can at least have some relief given the backup, Easton Stick, routinely targeted the veteran as the offense attempted to come back in the second half. While there hasn't been much information revealed regarding Herbert's status for future weeks, it's worth mentioning the Chargers play Thursday against the Raiders to kick off Week 15.
Dec 3, 2023
Paces passing attack once again
Allen caught five of his nine targets for 58 yards in the 6-0 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't seem to show any lingering issues from the quadriceps injury that kept him out of practice Wednesday and Thursday, but the rainy and slippery conditions also seemed to dampen Los Angeles' offense overall. With five games still to go, the 11-year veteran should easily surpass his career high in receptions (106) and likely should be poised to set career-high marks in receiving yards (1,393), touchdowns (eight) and targets (159)
Dec 3, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Allen (quadriceps) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Allen logged a limited session to close the week. Meanwhile, per ESPN.com, the wideout downplayed his quadriceps issue Friday, noting "this is light, honestly...thigh contusion is like a solid nick. That's considered not bad." With his active status against the 2-9 Patriots confirmed, Allen should maintain his high-volume role in the Chargers offense Sunday, assuming no in-game limitations or setbacks. To date, the veteran wide receiver has recorded a league-high 97 catches (on 129 targets) for 1,117 yards and seven TDs through 11 contests.
Dec 3, 2023
Expected to play vs. Patriots
Allen (quadriceps) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against New England, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is officially listed as questionable due to a quadriceps issue, but after playing through a lingering shoulder injury over the past two games, it looks like Allen will once again manage to take the field. The veteran wideout is doubtless the lynchpin of Los Angeles' passing game, making his availability a key factor for Justin Herbert's prospects. Official word on Allen's status will arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 3, 2023
Likely to play versus New England
Allen (quadriceps) is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is dealing with a quad issue that kept him sidelined Wednesday and Thursday before he participated in a limited capacity during Friday's session. The 31-year-old was able to play through a lingering shoulder injury over the past two games, and it seems like this quad injury won't keep him from suiting up for his 12th game this season. It will be worth monitirong Allen's status when the Chargers' inactive report is released 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 1, 2023
Listed as questionable
Allen (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots after logging a limited practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Allen returned to a limited session Friday, which gives the Chargers' high-volume wideout a chance to suit up this weekend. Fortunately for those inclined to utilize Allen in Week 13 fantasy lineups, the team kicks off at 1:00 ET on Sunday.
Dec 1, 2023
Returns to practice
Allen (quadriceps) returned to practice Friday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
His return at the end of the week suggests Allen will try to play through a quad injury one week after overcoming a shoulder issue to catch 14 passes for 106 yards in a 20-10 loss to Baltimore. He'll be facing a lesser defense if he suits up this week, playing at New England, but the lack of practice participation before Friday suggests his quad is more bothersome than the shoulder was.
Nov 30, 2023
Misses another practice
Allen (quadriceps) remained sidelined at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Back-to-back absences from practice put the focus on what (if anything) Allen can do at practice Friday to be telling with regard to his chances of playing Sunday against the Patriots. A return to the field Friday, even in a limited capacity, would certainly brighten the prospects of the Chargers' top receiver being available this weekend.
Nov 29, 2023
Missing practice Wednesday
Allen (quadriceps) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen logged a 98 percent snap share in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Ravens en route to racking up 14 catches on 16 targets for 106 yards. While Allen's absence from practice Wednesday makes his status worth tracking ahead of this weekend's game against the Patriots, it's possible that it was more a case of rep management than indicative of an issue that puts his Week 13 availability in any danger.
Nov 26, 2023
On pace for record season
Allen racked up 14 receptions on 16 targets for 106 yards while losing a fumble in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Allen encroached the century mark in receiving yards for the third consecutive week, although he failed to extend his touchdown streak to three games in the loss to Baltimore. It was another exceptional receiving display from the 11th-year wideout, who now sits at 97 receptions, 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns through 11 games. Allen's current pace has him demolishing his previous career highs in receptions (106), yards (1,393) and touchdowns (eight). He could theoretically break two of those personal bests with a big game against the Patriots next Sunday.
Nov 23, 2023
Returns to full practice
Allen (shoulder) was listed as a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was limited Wednesday, but the wideout's upgrade to full participation Thursday paves the way for him to maintain his high-volume role in the Chargers' offense Sunday night against the Ravens. Through 10 games, Allen -- who recorded a 10/116/1 receiving line on 16 targets in a Week 11 loss to Green Bay -- is averaging 8.3 catches on 11.3 targets for 101.1 yards per game to go along with seven TDs.
Nov 22, 2023
Listed as limited Wednesday
Allen (shoulder) was limited at practice Wednesday, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was listed as questionable ahead of this past Sunday's loss to the Packers, but the wideout played through his shoulder issue en route to logging 61 of a possible 65 snaps on offense in the contest, while hauling in 10 of his 16 targets for 116 yards and a TD. With no reported setbacks, there's a decent chance that Allen's listed limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related as opposed to indicative of an injury setback ahead of this weekend's game against the Ravens.
Nov 19, 2023
Tops 1,000-yard mark
Allen caught 10 of 16 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Allen turned in another big game despite uncharacteristically dropping a pair of passes near the goal line. After those miscues, though, he hauled in a 10-yard touchdown during the fourth quarter. In topping 100 yards for the fourth game this season, Allen also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the campaign, evidencing his status as one of the league's most consistent wide receivers.
Nov 19, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Allen (shoulder) is listed as active for Sunday's road game against the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Allen, who relayed Thursday that he has an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, was able to practice fully Friday, but headed into the contest listed as questionable. Now that his active status has been confirmed, Allen should be able to handle his usual high-volume role in the absence of any in-game setbacks, with Tom Pelissero of NFL Network indicating that the Chargers' top wide receiver is expected to play without restrictions Sunday. Through his first nine games this season, Allen -- who logged an 11/175/2 receiving line in last weekend's loss to the Lions -- is averaging a fantasy-friendly 8.1 catches (on 10.8 targets) for 99.4 yards with six TDs.
Nov 19, 2023
No restrictions expected
Allen (shoulder) is expected to play without restrictions during Sunday's game against the Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is expected to handle his usual allotment of snaps versus Green Bay, a role which has seen him command at least nine targets in all but one of his nine appearances this season. The Chargers are already without Mike Williams (knee) and Joshua Palmer (knee), and Jalen Guyton (groin) is also expected to be unavailable Sunday, so it's possible Los Angeles' passing game has to run almost entirely through Allen. His 'active' status will be made official 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 18, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Allen (shoulder) is expected to play Sunday against the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is listed as questionable after suffering a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder last week against the Lions. With Mike Williams (knee) and Josh Palmer (knee) already out for the Chargers, they can't afford to be without Allen, and it sounds like he's going to gut through the injury Sunday.
Nov 17, 2023
Status in question for Week 11
Allen (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Allen made a brief exit in the fourth quarter of the Chargers' Week 10 loss to the Lions due to a left shoulder injury, which proceeded to contain him to no on-field work Wednesday and a capped session Thursday before being deemed a full participant Friday. After the second practice, he clarified the nature of the issue, calling it an AC joint sprain, but at the same time he told Kris Rhim of ESPN.com that he'll "be out there again" this weekend. With a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff on tap Sunday, Allen's availability will be confirmed well in advance of the early slate of games.
Nov 16, 2023
Dealing with AC joint sprain
Allen said Thursday that he's tending to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder but intends to play Sunday at Green Bay, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed some time in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Lions due to a shoulder injury, but the only intel noted in its wake was a quote from coach Brandon Staley on Monday that the wide receiver was "day-to-day," per Daniel Popper of The Athletic. With the diagnosis seemingly clarified, Allen noted Thursday, "I'll be out there again," regarding his availability for Week 11. He also was seen adjusting medical tape and pressure plate on his left shoulder at the same time, which so far has contained him to one limited session (Thursday) this week. As a result, Allen seems like a decent bet to enter the weekend with a designation, which will be confirmed, one way or another, when the Chargers post their final injury report Friday.
Nov 16, 2023
Turns in limited practice
Allen (shoulder) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With Allen following Wednesday's 'DNP' with a limited session, the Chargers' top receiver is trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers. However, unless Allen -- who's averaging 99.4 receiving yards a game to date -- upgrades to full participation Friday, he figures to head into the weekend with an injury designation.
Nov 16, 2023
Spotted at practice
Allen (shoulder) was present for Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't practice Wednesday, but his return for Thursday's session is a step in the right direction. On Wednesday, head coach Brandon Staley said that he's hopeful Allen will be able to play this weekend against the Packers, but it's not yet clear whether the wideout will head into the matchup with or without an injury designation.
Nov 15, 2023
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Allen (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, coach Brandon Staley said that he's hopeful Allen will be able to play in Sunday's 1:00 ET contest against the Packers. If, however, the Chargers' leading receiver is out or limited this weekend, Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton and possibly Derius Davis would figure to see added pass-catching opportunities in Week 11.
Nov 13, 2023
'Day-to-day' with shoulder injury
Coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Allen (shoulder) is day-to-day, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen made a brief exit in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Lions, visiting the locker room to have his shoulder evaluated before returning to action. It didn't stop him from torching Detroit's defense to the tune of 11 catches (on 14 targets) for 175 yards and two touchdowns by game's end. The Chargers have a normal week to prepare for next Sunday's visit to Green Bay, but there's a chance he has some practice limitations Wednesday through Friday.
Nov 12, 2023
Two touchdowns in loss
Allen tallied 11 receptions on 14 targets for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the 41-38 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen briefly left the game with an apparent shoulder injury, but he returned relatively early after the event occurred. There was some thought the veteran could be used as a decoy after, but he pretty quickly established that there weren't any long-term effects. Allen's presence was critical in the game-tying possession near the end of the fourth quarter, as he craftily got open on a key fourth-and-one play, only to capitalize on shoddy tackling and maneuver into a 38-yard touchdown to knot the game at 38. Expect more of the same next week against a struggling Packers defense.

Returns to Week 10 clash
Allen (shoulder) returned in the second half of Sunday's game against the Lions, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was deemed questionable to return after going to the locker room to have his shoulder examined, but the veteran wide receiver feels good enough to keep playing Sunday. Allen will look to add to what is already an exceptional Week 10 stat line of 10 catches for 137 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets.
Nov 12, 2023
Hurts shoulder against Detroit
Allen shoulder is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Allen went to the locker room shortly before being ruled questionable to return in the second half, per Kris Rhim of ESPN. The wide receiver initially went to the blue medical tent to get the injury looked at, then briefly returned to the game before exiting again to go to the locker room. Prior to the injury, Allen compiled 10 catches for 137 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets.
Nov 6, 2023
Leads team in yardage, targets
Allen caught eight of his nine targets for 77 yards in the 27-6 win over the Jets on Monday.
ANALYSIS
No Joshua Palmer (knee) and a toothless Jets offense basically set the stage for Allen to be the sole offensive contributor in this one. The veteran did make a terrific 23-yard catch near the right sideline towards the beginning of the fourth quarter that extended a drive which culminated in three points and a seemingly insurmountable two-touchdown lead, but otherwise it was a ho-hum outing for Allen, who surpassed 10,000 career receiving yards in the victory. Up next, a great matchup against a vulnerable Lions secondary in Week 10.
Oct 30, 2023
Paces team with 10 targets
Allen had eight receptions on 10 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Allen recorded double-digit targets for the fourth time in seven starts this season. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 10.6 targets per game, which would set a new career high if maintained for the rest of the campaign. Allen may be forced to maintain this frenetic pace with the Chargers' No. 2 wideout Mike Williams (knee) done for the year as the team prepares to face the Jets next Monday.
Oct 22, 2023
Poor outing in loss
Allen caught four of his nine targets for 55 yards in the 31-17 loss on Sunday to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allen had a few uncharacteristic drops in what amounted to a bad outing for the veteran. Prior to Sunday, the skilled route runner had at least five receptions or a touchdown in every game dating back to Week 2 of last season. While a poor game against a divisional opponent won't make fantasy managers feel better, expect Allen to look much better against the Bears next week.
Oct 17, 2023
Grabs fourth touchdown on MNF
Allen hauled in seven receptions on 11 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Allen continued his dominant start to the campaign out of the Chargers' bye week, recording his 42nd reception and scoring his fourth touchdown in just five games this season. The 31-year-old appeared to have lost a step after a down year in 2022, but he put an end to talks surrounding his decline with a current pace that projects new bests in receptions, yards and touchdowns. Allen will continue to operate as Justin Herbert's top receiving option against the Chiefs next Sunday.
Oct 1, 2023
Scores another TD
Allen caught three of his five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Up until the final throw of the game, a 51-yard dime to Joshua Palmer to seal the win, Allen was easily the team's top target as the Chargers largely sat on a massive first-half lead that evaporated quickly over the final 30 minutes. While the veteran's five targets were easily his lowest this season, quarterback Justin Herbert attempted only 24 passes total thanks mostly to game script. With Mike Williams (knee) on injured reserve, expect the passing attack to lean heavily on Allen until the youngsters like Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis get more acclimated to the offense.
Sep 24, 2023
Massive volume in win
Allen recorded 18 receptions on 20 targets for 215 yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Vikings. He also threw for a 49-yard touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Allen's monstrous line unsurprisingly set career-best marks in both receptions and yards in a single game. He did that on impressive volume, but he also managed five catches of more than 20 yards -- a particularly impressive mark given that he had only seven such plays across 10 games in 2022. Allen also contributed to the win in unexpected ways, as he tossed 49-yard touchdown to Mike Williams midway through the third quarter. The Chargers have shown a willingness to be more aggressive with their passing attack early on this season, and Allen has benefitted by now seeing at least nine targets in all three games.
Sep 17, 2023
Finds end zone twice
Allen recorded eight receptions on 10 targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Allen managed only two performances of at least 100 yards in 2022, though it took him only the second game of 2023 to reach the mark. His longest gain of the day went for 42 yards, and he tallied scores from eight and 12 yards away. Allen has an impressive 19 targets across two games to begin the campaign and has shown an early connection with Justin Hebert this season.
Sep 10, 2023
Capable target again
Allen gathered in six of nine targets for 76 yards during Sunday's 36-34 loss against Miami.
ANALYSIS
Allen's 36-yard catch on the team's opening possession set the tone for what quickly became an offensive explosion, but unfortunately for the pass catchers, the Chargers' rushing attack was dynamic throughout and limited the amount of times quarterback Justin Herbert took to the air. Allen easily finished with the team lead in targets (nine) and didn't seem to have his role threatened at all by first-round pick Quentin Johnston. So long as Allen stays healthy, the veteran is poised to be the top passing threat in an offensive that appears to be one of the better ones in the league.
Aug 12, 2023
Not in line to play Saturday
Allen isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Rams, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers will keep Allen, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer (undisclosed) and John Hightower on the sideline for their exhibition opener. With Jalen Guyton (knee) on the active/PUP list, the team's available wide receivers are Quentin Johnston, Derius Davis and Keelan Doss, among others. Allen's next chance for game action will occur Sunday, Aug. 20 versus the Saints.
Mar 9, 2023
Restructures deal for cap relief
Allen agreed to restructure his contract Thursday, per NFL.com's Kevin Patra.
ANALYSIS
Allen had been rumored to be a potential cap casualty earlier in the offseason, but GM Tom Telesco shut that down at the combine last week. The 30-year-old has converted a large chunk of his 2023 base salary into a bonus to help the Chargers clear $8.9 million in cap space. L.A. did the same thing with Mike Williams' contract Thursday.
Jan 15, 2023
Squanders 13 targets
Allen recorded six receptions on 13 targets for 61 yards in Saturday's 31-30 wild-card round loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Allen dominated targets, which was unsurprising given the absence of Mike Williams (back). While Allen reached double-digit opportunities for the fifth time in his last seven games, he failed to reach 65 receiving yards for only the second time in that span. Allen was particularly poor in the midst of the Chargers' second-half meltdown, as he managed only two receptions for 17 yards on six targets. Despite the disappointing close to the season, Allen will be back with the Chargers in 2023 and is likely to remain a favored target of Justin Herbert.
Jan 8, 2023
Finishes campaign with two TDs
Allen secured eight of 11 targets for 102 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen paced the Chargers in receptions, receiving yards and targets while doubling up his season touchdown total with scoring grabs of 14 and three yards, the second coming off the arm of backup Chase Daniel. Allen's already-elevated importance to L.A.'s passing attack will bump up another notch if the back injury Mike Williams exited Sunday's contest with limits or sidelines him for next weekend's wild-card road matchup against the Jaguars.
Jan 1, 2023
Pedestrian performance in win
Allen recorded five receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Rams. He added one rush for eight yards.
ANALYSIS
Allen entered Sunday's game having recorded at least 85 yards in five of his last six contests, though he turned in a relatively poor performance due to game script. He salvaged his day thanks to a 28-yard catch late in the third quarter, and he now has at least one reception of more than 20 yards in each of his last three matchups. If the Ravens defeat the Steelers on Sunday Night Football, Allen will likely see the field in Week 18 with playoff seeding still at stake.
Dec 26, 2022
Targeted 14 times in Week 16
Allen recorded 11 receptions on 14 targets for 104 yards in Monday's 20-3 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Allen earned 14 targets for the third time in his last four games, a mark made more impressive by the fact that Justin Herbert attempted only 31 passes in Monday's win. Allen's performance was highlighted by a long gain of 25 yards, and he narrowly missed a touchdown on the play as he attempted to stay inbounds while running free down the sideline. Though he missed out on the opportunity to reach the end zone, Allen did manage his first 100-yard performance of the season and has at least 85 receiving yards in five of his last six games.
Dec 18, 2022
Leading receiver in Sunday's win
Allen caught eight of nine targets for 86 yards in Sunday's 17-14 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Points and yards were hard to come by for both teams, but Allen led both clubs in catches and receiving yards on the afternoon. The veteran wideout has topped 80 yards in three straight games, posting a 26-266-1 line on 37 targets over that stretch heading into a juicy Week 16 matchup against a reeling Colts defense that just got lit up by Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn.
Dec 12, 2022
First-down machine in win
Allen caught 12 of his 14 targets for 92 yards in the 23-17 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was once again Justin Herbert's favorite targets on crucial possessions converting a number of key third downs in the final half. Since returning from a balky hamstring issue in Week 11, Allen has recorded an impressive 28-322-2 on 43 targets with at least a half dozen of those accounting for chain-moving catches. Mike Williams (ankle) also made his return after a two-game absence and immediately paid dividends as a deep target, something that should allow Allen even more space in the middle of the field so long as the big-bodied target continues to stay healthy. Expect more production in a matchup against the vulnerable Titans defense in Week 15.
Dec 4, 2022
Scores touchdown late
Allen caught six of his 14 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers trailed for much of the second half prompting Allen's incredibly high target rate. It would have been a sour day for fantasy managers had the veteran not snared an absolute laser of a 33-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to keep the game relatively close, but it's still encouraging to see Allen receive the type of workload that was expected for him entering the season.
Nov 27, 2022
Touchdown salvages day
Allen recorded five receptions on seven target for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-24 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Allen was seemingly the primary focus of the Arizona defense, as peripheral options in the Chargers' offense such as DeAndre Carter and Joshua Palmer were both allowed to out-gain him. However, Allen still managed to make an impact by finding the end zone from two yards away and with receptions of 16 and 13 yards. In two games since returning from a hamstring injury, Allen has recorded 10 receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Nov 20, 2022
Successful return
Allen corralled five of his eight targets for 94 yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. He also fumbled.
ANALYSIS
It was clear the Chargers sorely missed their veteran receiver as Allen was a frequent target in the early going. Allen's critical fumble with the Chargers driving for the go-ahead score in the fourth appeared to spell doom for the team, but the 30-year-old erased the gaffe on the ensuing possession with a terrific drive-extending 46-yard reception that ultimately led to the team's final touchdown. Mike Williams also made his return after a lengthy absence, but the big-bodied target was forced out of the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter. Should Williams' injury prove to be troublesome, expect more of the burden of the passing game to fall on Allen and Joshua Palmer.
Nov 20, 2022
Back in Action Sunday
Allen (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Also in action is Mike Williams (ankle), with Los Angeles' top two wideouts making their first game appearances since Week 7. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Williams is expected to garner a full workload in the contest, while Allen could be on something of a pitch count, possibly in the range of 30-35 snaps. That figures to be enough work for Allen to be a factor in Week 11, but it may take him some time to get back into his usual high-volume role. Meanwhile, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter figure to return to lesser roles in the offense now that Allen and Williams are both back in the mix.
Nov 20, 2022
Pitch count likely in return
Allen (hamstring), who is in line to play Sunday against the Chiefs, likely will be operating under a pitch count, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering Allen will be making just his third appearance of the season Sunday, if active, it's no surprise the Chargers will take a cautious approach with the 10th-year pro. He was able to log a full practice Friday after opening Week 11 prep with back-to-back limited showings, but Fowler noted that Allen may be in the range of 30-to-35 plays. Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver Mike Williams (ankle) is expected to handle a typical workload, so the pecking order at the position may be Williams, Allen and DeAndre Carter.
Nov 20, 2022
Plans to play Sunday
Allen, who's listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury, said he plans to play Sunday against the Chiefs, but the coaches will ultimately make the final call, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has only played in two games this season due to a lingering hamstring issue and has failed to finish either of those contests. The veteran wideout was able to log his first full practice Friday since Week 1 prep and is clearly trending in the right direction, but fantasy managers are still encouraged to monitor Allen's status ahead of Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 18, 2022
Listed as questionable for Week 11
Allen (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs after logging a full practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
That's also the case with Mike Williams (ankle), which gives the Chargers' top two wideouts a chance to return to action Week 11. Per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times, Allen indicated that he was able to run full speed this week and felt his usual explosiveness in the process. Meanwhile, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com relayed that Allen believes he's ready to play Sunday, but a determination on that front rests with the team's training and coaching staffs. The Chargers' Sunday night kickoff adds a layer of risk to relying on Allen in Week 11 fantasy lineups, but he's clearly trending in the right direction at this stage.
Nov 17, 2022
Remains limited at practice
Allen (hamstring) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow WRs Mike Williams (ankle) and DeAndre Carter (ribs), who were limited Wednesday as well. Friday's final injury report will add a layer of context with regard to the trio's Week 11 status, but Allen, who was able to run routes at practice Thursday, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, seems to be trending toward being listed as questionable for Sunday night's 8:20 ET contest against the Chiefs.
Nov 16, 2022
Logs limited practice
Allen (hamstring) was officially limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Mike Williams (ankle), which offers hope that the Chargers' top two WRs could return to action Sunday night against the Chiefs. Per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN Allen -- who last suited up in Week 7 -- indicated at this stage that he's "just kind of day-by-day" as he works through a lingering left hamstring issue. In two games to date this season, Allen has caught six passes (on as many targets) for 77 yards.
Nov 16, 2022
Does individual drills
Allen (hamstring) and Mike Williams (ankle) participated in individual drills during Wednesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
When asked if he thinks he'll be able to play Sunday night against the Chiefs, Allen -- who last suited up in Week 7 -- replied "I hope." In any case, the practice participation of the team's top two wideouts offers hope that one or both players could return to action in Week 11, which would be a nice boost for the 5-4 Chargers in advance of their key divisional contest.
Nov 14, 2022
In line to practice this week
Coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Allen (hamstring) is expected to return to practice this week, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Limited to just two appearances this season due to a lingering hamstring issue, Allen would be a welcome presence on the practice field for quarterback Justin Herbert and the rest of the Chargers offense. Both Allen and Mike Williams (ankle) are slated to mix into drills, but it remains to be seen if they'll do enough to be able to play Sunday against the Chiefs. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much activity, if any, Allen was able to handle in the first session of Week 11 prep.
Nov 11, 2022
Ruled out this week
Allen (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Mike Williams (ankle), which means that the Chargers' Week 10 wideout corps will once again be headed by Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter and Michael Bandy. Allen and Williams' next chance to see game action will arrive in Week 11 when Los Angeles hosts Kansas City.
Nov 10, 2022
Not practicing Thursday
Allen (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen now has one more chance to return to practice ahead of Sunday night's game against the 49ers, but if he's unavailable this weekend, the Chargers would turn to fellow WRs Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter and Michael Bandy to see added snaps in Week 10, with Mike Williams still dealing with an ankle injury.
Nov 9, 2022
Misses another practice
Allen (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen, who last suited up in Week 7, is considered day-to-day by coach Brandon Staley, but the wideout's continued absence from practice clouds his status for Sunday night's game against the 49ers. If he's unable to return to action this weekend, Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter and Michael Bandy would be in line to lead the Chargers' Week 10 WR corps, given that Mike Williams remains sidelined by an ankle injury.
Nov 9, 2022
Remains day-to-day
Allen (hamstring) isn't expected to practice Wednesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
At this stage, coach Brandon Staley views Allen as day-to-day, but if the wideout is unable to suit up Sunday night against the 49ers, Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter and Michael Bandy would be in line to continue seeing added snaps in Week 10.
Nov 4, 2022
Ruled out for Sunday
Allen (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow starting wideout Mike Williams (ankle), which leaves Joshua Palmer (concussion), who is slated to play Sunday, per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times and DeAndre Carter (illness/questionable) -- if available -- to lead the Chargers' Week 9 wideout corps. Allen's next chance to suit up will arrive in Week 10 versus the 49ers on the road.
Nov 4, 2022
Not spotted at practice
Allen (hamstring) wasn't spotted during the open portion of Friday's practice, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so his status for Sunday's game against the Falcons remains cloudy. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether he has a chance to suit up this weekend, but if the wideout is ruled out, added Week 9 opportunities would be available for Joshua Palmer (concussion) and DeAndre Carter.
Nov 3, 2022
Misses second straight practice
Allen (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Allen evidently having had a setback with his left hamstring injury, the wideout's status for Sunday's game against the Falcons is cloudy in the wake of back-to-back missed practices. If Allen is out this weekend, Joshua Palmer (concussion) and DeAndre Carter would likely lead the Chargers' Week 9 receiving corps, with Mike Williams sidelined by an ankle injury.
Nov 2, 2022
Will remain sidelined Wednesday
Allen (hamstring) won't practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers were on bye last week, but coach Brandon Staley acknowledged Wednesday that Allen's hamstring injury has not "responded the way that we hoped." With that in mind, the wideout's status for Sunday's game against the Falcons remains unclear and with Mike Williams sidelined by an ankle injury, it's possible that Joshua Palmer -- who has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol -- per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com and DeAndre Carter could lead the team's Week 9 WR corps.
Oct 31, 2022
Doesn't practice Monday
Allen (hamstring) didn't practice Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen returned to action in Week 7 for the first time since the season opener, but he didn't play in the second half after feeling like he couldn't accelerate off his injured leg. It was assumed the Chargers' Week 8 bye would provide further rest and rehab for the star wideout, but it appears he's still not 100 percent yet. His absence Monday isn't overly concerning, but if he remains sidelined from practice later in the week, it's very possible Allen misses his sixth game of the season in Week 9.
Oct 24, 2022
'No setback' with hamstring Sunday
Coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Allen had "no setback" with his hamstring during Sunday's 37-23 loss to the Seahawks, but the wide receiver didn't play after halftime because he "did not feel like he could burst" off his leg, and the Chargers didn't want to "risk" additional injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first game action since hurting his hamstring Week 1, Allen logged 23 of 71 snaps on offense and gathered in both targets for 11 yards. Now with a Week 8 bye on tap, he'll have time to get closer to 100 percent before L.A.'s next game Sunday, Nov. 6 in Atlanta. Allen's activity level will be of keen interest when the team reconvenes for practice again on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Oct 23, 2022
Little usage in return
Allen caught both his targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 37-23 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Seeing his first action since suffering a hamstring injury in the Chargers' opener, Allen saw his workload limited due to his lengthy absence, and per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times the wideout didn't play at all in the second half. With the team heading into its bye, Allen should be ready to handle his usual role after another week of rest, and he might wind up seeing massive target volume in Week 9 against the Falcons if the ankle injury Mike Williams suffered in the fourth quarter Sunday proves to be serious.
Oct 23, 2022
Active for Sunday's game
Allen (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen is thus in uniform for game action for the first time since Week 1, though it remains to be seen how close to his normal allotment of snaps he'll see in his return to the mix, a context that makes the 30-year-old a speculative fantasy lineup option in Week 7. Given that Joshua Palmer (concussion) is out Sunday, however, the Chargers will gladly take anything they can get from Allen, who will work alongside Mike Williams versus Seattle, with DeAndre Carter also in the team's WR mix.
Oct 23, 2022
To be limited, if active
Allen (hamstring) will be limited if he does suit up Sunday against Seattle, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.
ANALYSIS
Allen remains a true game-time decision for the Week 7 matchup, but with the bye week approaching, the Chargers don't seemingly have him in line for a full workload even if he does suit up. Should Allen end up getting declared active roughly 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 EST kickoff, he'll likely be a high-risk fantasy start.
Oct 23, 2022
Remains game-time decision
Allen (hamstring), currently listed as questionable, will see how he feels in warmups prior to making a determination of his status for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen logged limited practices throughout the week, providing some optimism that he'd take the field for the first time since Week 1. However, he'll remain a game-time call, and Schefter specifically noted that the team may give Allen extra rest with their bye week immediately following the matchup against Seattle. If Allen were held out, Mike Williams, Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter would likely serve as the team's primary wide receivers.
Oct 21, 2022
Game-time call Sunday
Allen (hamstring/questionable) is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The report suggests that Allen has "high hopes right now" about a possible return to action Sunday, but it appears as though a final determination on his Week 7 status won't arrive until game day, ahead of the Chargers' 4:25 ET kickoff. If Allen ends up limited or out this weekend, added snaps would be available for DeAndre Carter alongside Mike Williams, with Joshua Palmer (concussion) already having been ruled out by the team.
Oct 20, 2022
Logs another limited practice
Allen (hamstring) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Friday's final injury report will reveal Allen's official injury status for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, but as Daniel Popper of The Athletic noted Wednesday, it's possible that the Chargers could elect to play it safe with the wideout this weekend, with the team on bye in Week 8. Allen hasn't seen game action since injuring his hamstring in Week 1.
Oct 19, 2022
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Allen (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was also limited at practice last week before sitting out Monday night's game against the Broncos. At this stage, the wideout's status for Sunday's game against the Seahawks remains unclear and Daniel Popper of The Athletic relayed earlier Wednesday that it's possible Allen could elect to err on the side of caution this weekend, with the Chargers on bye in Week 8.
Oct 18, 2022
On pace to fully practice this week
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Tuesday that Allen (hamstring) remains on pace to return to full practices ahead of Sunday's matchup against Seattle, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen returned to practice in a limited fashion ahead of Week 6 but was listed as doubtful before ultimately being ruled out for a fifth consecutive contest due to a hamstring injury. However, the veteran wideout will take yet another step towards a return to game action when he fully participates in practice ahead of Week 7. Given his lengthy absence, the Chargers will likely remain cautious and may even put Allen on a snap limit during his first game back.
Oct 17, 2022
Inactive Monday
Allen (hamstring) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allen will thus set his sights on a possible return to action in Week 7 versus the Seahawks. In his continued absence, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter are once again in line to see added wideout opportunities versus Denver alongside Mike Williams, who led the team with 10 catches and 13 targets in the Chargers' Week 5 win over the Browns.
Oct 15, 2022
Doubtful for Monday
Allen (hamstring) has been listed as doubtful for Monday's contest against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allen himself said it was unlikely he'd play Monday and instead turned his attention to getting prepared for the Seahawks in Week 7. DeAndre Carter has seen a significant snaps uptick in recent weeks with Allen sidelined, but it hasn't translated into many opportunities. Joshua Palmer could be the biggest beneficiary as the team's primary slot target against a Broncos defense that has been vulnerable at times against the aforementioned position.
Oct 15, 2022
Not expecting to play Monday
Allen (hamstring) revealed he doesn't believe he'll play Monday against the Broncos, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
When asked whether he would be able to return from a four-game hamstring absence that has been deemed a "day-to-day" issue for the last two weeks, Allen responded, "last week was definitely when I wanted to get back but that didn't happen. This week would be great, but I don't think I'm going to make it. So Seattle's looking bright." There's still time for that to change given the Chargers have one more practice before needing to officially list their injury report ahead of Monday's critical divisional matchup, but it's hard to dismiss news coming straight from the source. DeAndre Carter has seen a significant influx in snaps with Allen sidelined, but the speedy receiver has been essentially a decoy over the last two weeks.
Oct 14, 2022
Stays limited in practice
Allen (hamstring) was a limited participant in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Allen followed a similar routine during the open portion of Friday's workout as he did Thursday, with the wideout going through the first part of individual drills before moving to a side field to run sprints at about 60-to-70 percent effort. At this point in the week, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com relays that the Chargers are viewing Allen as questionable for Monday's game against the Broncos, but the team won't give him a designation until evaluating him at Saturday's practice. Allen has missed the Chargers' last four games with the hamstring injury.
Oct 13, 2022
Begins week as limited participant
Allen (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers listed Allen as a non-participant in each of their previous four practices, so his limited activity to begin Week 6 would seem to be a promising sign. Even so, Allen may need to upgrade to full activity Friday or Saturday for the Chargers to feel comfortable signing off on him playing Monday against the Broncos after he missed each of the previous four games with the hamstring injury.
Oct 12, 2022
Limited to side work
Allen (hamstring) was limited to running on the side during Wednesday's practice, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Miller notes that Allen seemingly would "have to advance pretty quickly over the next few days" in order to play in Monday's game against the Broncos. It does seem the wideout is making progress, however slow, with coach Brandon Staley calling Allen day-to-day earlier this week. The 30-year-old hasn't played since Week 1.

Considered day-to-day
Coach Brandon Staley noted Monday that Allen, who has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, is day-to-day ahead of Week 6 action, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Allen, who last suited up in Week 1, is dealing what Staley described as a frustrating, soft-tissue injury. At this stage, the wideout's status for next Monday's game against the Broncos is cloudy, but if Allen is able to practice in any capacity this week, his outlook on that front could improve. If he's unable to return versus Denver, however, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter would be in line to continue to see added WR snaps for the Chargers.
Oct 7, 2022
Ruled out this week
Allen (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
With Allen still out, Joshua Palmer (ankle/questionable) -- if available -- and DeAndre Carter are in line for added Week 5 WR opportunities alongside Mike Williams versus Cleveland. Allen will now target a possible return to action in Week 6, when the Chargers face the Broncos on Monday Night Football.
Oct 6, 2022
Another missed practice
Allen (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Following back-to-back missed practices, Allen remains iffy at best for Sunday's game against the Browns. If he ends up out this weekend, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter would be in line for added Week 5 WR opportunities alongside Mike Williams.
Oct 5, 2022
Not ready to practice
Allen (hamstring) is not slated to practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per coach Brandon Staley, Allen is day-to-day with his hamstring injury and at this stage it's unclear if the veteran WR will be back at practice this week. If Allen remains out or limited Sunday against the Browns, Joshua Palmer, DeAndre Carter and possibly Michael Bandy would be in line for added opportunities for the Chargers in Week 5.
Oct 3, 2022
Considered day-to-day
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Allen (hamstring) is considered day-to-day, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has remained sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury during the season opener. He appeared close to making his return in Week 5 after logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, but he was ultimately ruled out after not practicing Friday. The Chargers have continued to be patient with one of their top wideouts, so Allen will likely have to submit at least one full practice before he returns to game action.
Sep 30, 2022
Won't play Sunday
Allen (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
After logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, Allen didn't practice Friday and he'll now target a potential return to action in Week 5 against the Browns. In his continued absence Sunday, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter are in line to see added WR work versus Houston alongside Mike Williams.
Sep 30, 2022
Not on field Friday
Allen (hamstring) wasn't spotted during the portion of Friday's practice open to the media, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen continues to deal with a hamstring issue that he suffered Week 1, which kept him from playing Weeks 2 and 3 but hasn't stopped him from practicing the last two weeks. He officially was listed as a limited participant on the Chargers' first two injury reports of Week 4, but he did make an early departure with a team trainer during Thursday's session, per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. It's unclear if Allen suffered a setback, but his status for Sunday's game at Houston could receive some clarity later Friday.
Sep 29, 2022
Listed as limited Thursday
Allen (hamstring) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Miller notes that Allen, who was also limited Wednesday, exited Thursday's session with a trainer near the end of the media-viewing portion of practice. It remains to be seen if that's indicative or a setback or not, but Friday's injury report should add further context with regard to Allen's chances of returning to action Sunday against the Texans.
Sep 29, 2022
Exits Thursday's practice
Allen, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, left Thursday's practice with a trainer, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen, who has missed two straight games, logged a limited practice Wednesday, but his exit from Thursday's session is a situation to monitor ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans. If Allen is unable to return to action this weekend, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter would continue to see added WR opportunities for the Chargers in Week 4.
Sep 28, 2022
Limited practice session Wednesday
Allen (hamstring) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out this past Friday's practice, Allen missed his second straight contest Sunday against the Jaguars. The wideout's limited participation Wednesday offers hopes that he'll be able to return to the mix this weekend against the Texans, but he'll need to progress through the week without a setback in order for that to happen. In Allen's absence, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter have been logging adding WR snaps alongside Mike Williams.
Sep 26, 2022
Nearing return to practice
Coach Brandon Staley noted Monday that Allen (hamstring) should be able to practice this week, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has missed the Chargers' last two games, but his anticipated return to practice in the coming days offers hope that the wideout could be back in action this Sunday against the Texans. During his absence, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter have been seeing added opportunities in the team's offense alongside Mike Williams.
Sep 25, 2022
Inactive Sunday
Allen (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Friday's practice, Allen will end up missing his second straight contest. In his continued absence, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter are in line to see added Week 3 wide receiver opportunities in the Chargers offense alongside Mike Williams.
Sep 23, 2022
Iffy for Sunday
Allen (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars after sitting out Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com, coach Brandon Staley suggested that the wideout is 50-50 to play Sunday. If Allen ends up out or limited versus Jacksonville, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter would be in line to see added Week 3 WR opportunities behind Mike Williams.
Sep 22, 2022
Logs another limited practice
Allen (hamstring) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed last Thursday's loss to the Chiefs, but back-to-back limited practices give him a chance to play Sunday against the Jaguars. Unless the wideout progresses to full participation Friday, however, he's likely to approach Week 3 action officially listed as questionable.
Sep 21, 2022
Says he may play this week
Allen (hamstring) said Wednesday that he's "got a shot" to play in Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was a limited practice participant Wednesday and reportedly moved around well. He never had a chance to play last week with the Chargers on a short schedule ahead of their Thursday loss to the Chiefs, but a return for Week 3 apparently is possible.
Sep 21, 2022
Set to log individual work
Allen (hamstring) is in line to do some individual work during Wednesday's practice, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll circle back on Allen's status later Wednesday to see if the Chargers officially list him as a limited practice participant, but the wideout's ability to work in some fashion to start the team's practice week is a positive indicator ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Sep 14, 2022
Ruled out for Thursday's game
Allen (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allen will thus target a potential return to action in Week 3, when the Chargers face the Jaguars on Sept. 25. In his absence Thursday night, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer and DeAndre Carter are in line to lead the team's wideout corps versus Kansas City.
Sep 13, 2022
Misses another practice
Allen (hamstring) was estimated as a non-participant during Tuesday's walk-through practice.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers aren't completely closing the door on Allen suiting up Thursday against the Chiefs, but head coach Brandon Staley already acknowledged that the wideout's chances of playing Week 2 "aren't looking great," according to ESPN.com. On a more positive note, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com relays that the MRI the receiver underwent on his hamstring after exiting the Chargers' Week 1 win over the Raiders revealed no major damage, so Allen should have a decent chance at being ready to play Week 3 versus the Jaguars on Sept. 25. An official decision on Allen's availability for Thursday's game will likely come Wednesday, when the 30-year-old will likely have to practice in some capacity to avoid being officially ruled out on the Chargers' final injury report.
Sep 13, 2022
May have avoided long-term injury
Allen remains likely to miss Thursday's game against the Chiefs, but the Chargers are optimistic his hamstring injury isn't a long-term concern, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After exiting the Chargers' Week 1 win against the Raiders over the weekend, Allen is facing an uphill battle to make it back on the field for a quick turnaround Week 2, but his absence from game action might not last any longer Thursday. According to Pelissero, recent tests on Allen's hamstring didn't reveal a significant injury, leaving the team hopeful that the wideout will be ready to go for its Week 3 matchup with the Jaguars on Sept. 25. Even though Allen isn't expected to practice Tuesday or Wednesday, the Chargers will likely wait at least one more day before formally ruling the receiver out for Thursday's contest. While Allen is presumably sidelined against the Chiefs, wideouts Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer, tight end Gerald Everett and running back Austin Ekeler are likely to represent the top targets in the passing game for quarterback Justin Herbert.
Sep 12, 2022
Listed as DNP
Allen (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on the Chargers' estimated estimated injury report Monday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was forced out of Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders due to the hamstring issue and is slated for an MRI on Monday, which should provide further clarity on the injury. It's not surprising to see the star wideout listed as a non-participant Monday, and with the short turnaround, it's likely the Chargers won't push Allen to play in Thursday's showdown with the Chiefs.
Sep 12, 2022
Set for MRI
Allen (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was forced out of Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders due to a hamstring injury, and he's now facing a quick turnaround before Thursday's road matchup against the Chiefs. Prior to picking up the injury, Allen secured all four of his targets for 66 yards. The results of Monday's MRI will provide the Chargers with more information about the severity of Allen's injury, and his chances of being able to take the field Week 2.
Sep 11, 2022
Injures hamstring
Allen was forced out of Sunday's game against the Raiders with a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from Sunday's season opener, Allen caught all four of his targets for 66 yards. If he's forced to miss any time, Jalen Guyton and/or DeAndre Carter would be candidates to see added snaps behind fellow WRs Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer.
Jul 11, 2022
Enters season with big expectations
Allen told CBS 8 that he expects the Chargers offense to continue growing in Year 2 under offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.
ANALYSIS
The Bolts offense finished top five in points, yards and DVOA in Lombardi's first season, with QB Justin Herbert ranking second among QBs in both pass attempts (672) and yards (5,014). While Mike Williams rode the wave early in the season (and later signed a big extension this offseason), it was Allen who ultimately led the team in catches and targets again. The 30-year-old was one of the most consistent performers in the NFL the past five seasons, averaging 16-18 PPR points per game each year while missing only three games total in that stretch. Allen, Williams and Austin Ekeler will continue to serve as Herbert's top targets in an uptempo, pass-first offense, though it is possible offseason improvements on defense lead to a somewhat more balanced team this year.
Jan 10, 2022
Held in check in loss
Allen recorded six receptions for 52 yards on eight targets in Sunday's 35-32 overtime loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Allen compiled 25 of his 52 receiving yards on the team's 19-play, 83-yard drive to end regulation, but that essentially counted for all of the veteran's big-play production. Allen finished the 2021 campaign with his fifth consecutive 130-plus target season and also registered 1,100-plus receiving yards and at least 100 receptions for the fourth time in the last five years despite the emergence of Mike Williams and gradual improvement from rookie Josh Palmer. While Williams ultimately became the first Chargers wide receiver to have more receiving yards than Allen since Tyrell Williams back in 2016, the multi-time Pro Bowler was still Justin Herbert's most reliable target and will remain a top option in PPR leagues entering next season.
Jan 2, 2022
Kept in check
Allen caught just four of his nine targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allen struggled to gain much separation in this contest, often matching up against sensational rookie Patrick Surtain with the Broncos cornerback routinely getting the upper hand. The veteran wide receiver did tally his 100th reception for the third consecutive season and appears poised for another solid game next week in a win-and-you're-in divisional battle against the Raiders.
Dec 26, 2021
Blanketed by Texans
Allen recorded four receptions on six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 41-29 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
For the second time in his last three games, Allen was held to less than 40 receiving yards. His six targets were his lowest in a game since Week 6 and snapped a seven-contest stretch during which he got at least eight looks in the passing game. Given his track record, Allen should bounce back in Week 17 against Denver despite a relatively difficult matchup.
Dec 17, 2021
Scores in defeat
Allen tallied six catches on 10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 34-28 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allen's 29-yard reception accounted for the Chargers' longest play of the evening, but it was the slightly overthrown deep pass with 33 seconds left in the game that will go down as the biggest missed opportunity for both Los Angeles and fantasy managers. After failing to score a touchdown from Weeks 9-12, the veteran wideout now has three over the last two games, with a missed contest due to COVID-19 sandwiched inbetween.
Dec 14, 2021
Comes off COVID-19 list
The Chargers activated Allen (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
ANALYSIS
At the time Allen tested positive for COVID-19 last Monday, it was known that he was vaccinated, giving him a chance to clear league protocols and play this past Sunday against the Giants. He wasn't able to do so, but he now is free and clear ahead of Thursday's contest against the Chiefs. The Chargers listed Mike Williams (heel) as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, so Allen could take on even greater target share Week 15 if his fellow wideout is limited or sidelined.
Dec 12, 2021
Coach expects Week 15 return
Coach Brandon Staley expects Allen (illness) to clear COVID-19 protocols in time to play Thursday against the Chiefs, Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen will need to be removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list in order to suit up, but Staley's optimistic that will happen barring any setbacks. Quarterback Justin Herbert didn't have any trouble carving up the Giants secondary in Allen's absence Sunday, tossing touchdowns to Jalen Guyton, Josh Palmer and Jared Cook en route to a 37-21 win.
Dec 10, 2021
Not slated to play Sunday
Allen, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, is not in line to play Sunday against the Giants, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
While Allen is not slated to be activated for the contest, the report notes that barring any late issues, fellow wideout Mike Williams, who is also on COVID list, should be able to play this weekend. Minus Allen, added Week 14 snaps will be available for Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer.
Dec 6, 2021
Could still play Week 14
Allen (illness), who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after testing positive for the virus, is vaccinated and could have a chance to clear all protocols prior to the Chargers' Week 14 game against the Giants, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Unvaccinated players that test positive are automatically subject to 10-day quarantines, while vaccinated players that test positive are eligible to rejoin their teams as soon as they show diminished symptoms of the virus and turn in two negative COVID-19 tests at least 24 hours apart. In the majority of similar cases this season, vaccinated players have typically needed more than a week to clear protocols, but the Steelers' T.J. Watt notably bucked the trend Week 13, returning to the team five days after testing positive and then playing his normal allotment of snaps in Pittsburgh's win over the Ravens. Allen will hope to follow a similar path Week 14, but the odds will still be against him gaining clearance ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. The fact that the Chargers are hosting the Giants rather than traveling across the country for the matchup at least removes one possible complication in Allen's bid to play this weekend.
Dec 6, 2021
Tests positive for COVID-19
Allen's placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday was the result of a positive test for the virus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen has been his usual productive self this season -- 86 catches for 929 yards on 124 targets -- but he only had two touchdowns before doubling that number this past Sunday in Cincinnati. Now, his status is in question following Monday's development. Coach Brandon Staley told Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register that Allen is "day-to-day right now, and hopefully we'll have some good news on him in the next few days." A lot of that depends on Allen's vaccination status. If he's able to test negative twice at least 24 hours apart, he'd be eligible to return to the active roster. If he's unable to do so before Sunday's game against the Giants, Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer would be in line for more work along with starting wide receiver Mike Williams.
Dec 6, 2021
Hits reserve/COVID-19 list
The Chargers placed Allen (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The vaccination status of Allen is unclear, but he's now in danger of missing his first game of the season, one day removed from doubling his TD count on the campaign with two scoring strikes this past Sunday at Cincinnati. His status will be one to monitor as the week goes on, but if Allen ends up sidelined Week 14 against the Giants, Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer would be in line for additional work alongside starting wide receiver Mike WIlliams.
Dec 5, 2021
Snares two touchdowns
Allen tallied four catches on eight targets for 34 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' 41-22 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It's a bit disappointing that in Allen's first game with a touchdown since Week 8 he suddenly saw his fewest targets since mid October, but he did technically see a team-high in looks as quarterback Justin Herbert spread the ball around plenty. It'll be interesting to see the type of workload Allen will receive next week against a hapless Giants team that did not have starting quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) and also saw backup Mike Glennon leave Sunday's matchup with a concussion. Facing an opponent possibly down to its third-string signal caller entering Week 14, the Chargers offense, and by default Allen, could be utilized less against a suddenly toothless New York lineup.
Nov 28, 2021
Tops in receiving again
Allen registered seven receptions on 10 targets for 85 yards in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allen continues to be a menace as a chain-moving target, but the continual red-zone reliance on Austin Ekeler and the trio of tight ends has siphoned off the veteran's normally consistent touchdown numbers. It's clear the Chargers have become reliant on Allen between the 20s and with high-octane offensive matchups littering the latter half of the schedule, expect the 29-year-old to have a relatively safe fantasy floor the rest of the season.
Nov 22, 2021
Leads team in receiving
Allen caught nine of his 12 targets for 112 yards in Sunday's 41-37 win over the Steelers
ANALYSIS
After a bit of an uneven stretch to the season, Allen appears to be hitting his stride with 35 receptions and 391 receiving yards in the last four games. With four straight games of double-digit targets, it's clear the veteran wide receiver's role is relatively established even after off games from the offense each of the previous three weeks, but it's hard to imagine an uptick in touchdowns coming with Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams and an assortment of tight ends all emerging as priorities near the red zone.
Nov 14, 2021
Falls short of century mark Sunday
Allen caught eight of 11 targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
He just missed producing his second straight 100-yard performance and his fourth of the season, but Allen still led the Bolts in receptions, targets and yards. The veteran wideout is well on his way to another 100-catch season heading into a Week 11 tilt against the Steelers.
Nov 14, 2021
Active for Week 10
Allen (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
With that, Allen, who caught 12 of his 13 targets for 104 yards in last weekend's win over the Eagles, is in line to suit up Sunday and barring any setbacks will be in line to log starters snaps alongside Mike Williams. Through eight games this season, Allen has held up his end up the PPR bargain by averaging 75 receiving yards on 10.3 targets per game, while having caught 57passes and two TDs in that span.
Nov 12, 2021
Slated to play in Week 10
Coach Brandon Staley expects Allen (knee) to suit up Sunday against the Vikings, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen officially is questionable to play after logging a pair of limited practices Thursday and Friday. He's been good for a significant target share on a weekly basis this season, earning at least eight in seven of eight games. Such volume could reap rewards versus a Minnesota defense that has conceded 8.7 YPT to wide receivers this season (ninth-most in the NFL).
Nov 12, 2021
Listed as questionable, expected to play
Though listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Allen (knee) is expected to play in the contest according to coach Brandon Staley, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't practice Wednesday, but logged limited sessions Thursday and Friday. Though Staley's optimism regarding the wideout's week 10 availability is encouraging, it will still be worth verifying Allen's status in advance of Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff. With a 57/600/2 stat line through eight games to date, Allen remains a PPR asset, given the steady playing time and target volume he normally garners.
Nov 12, 2021
Questionable but should play
Allen (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Those relying on Allen in the fantasy realm needn't panic too much about this questionable designation, as coach Brandon Staley said Friday that he expects Allen to play, per Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. Allen didn't practice Wednesday but was subsequently able to log limited sessions Thursday and Friday. The veteran wide receiver has built up a six-game streak of performances with at least 50 yards, hitting that number on the nose in each of the past two.
Nov 11, 2021
Returns to limited session
Allen (knee) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't practice Wednesday, but his return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of playing in Sunday's game against the Vikings. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether the PPR asset heads into the weekend fully cleared for action or carrying a Week 10 injury designation.
Nov 11, 2021
Returns to field Thursday
Allen (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen how the Chargers list Allen's official participation level, but his return to the field Thursday, in any capacity, is a good sign after the wideout sat out Wednesday's practice.
Nov 10, 2021
DNP on Wednesday
Allen (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Miller speculates that Allen was held out more as a precaution, a notion that would be supported by a return to the field on the wideout's part -- in any capacity -- come Thursday. In the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Eagles, Allen was on the field for 62 of a possible 69 snaps on offense en route to catching 12 of his 13 targets for 104 yards. Overall, he's averaging 75 receiving yards on just over 10 targets per game.
Nov 7, 2021
Tops century mark in win
Allen caught 12 of 13 targets for 104 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
It's the fifth time in eight games Allen has seen double-digit targets, but it's the first time he's reached triple digits in receiving yards since Week 2. The 29-year-old has 57 catches for exactly 600 yards and two TDs on the season heading into a Week 10 clash with the Vikings.
Oct 31, 2021
Leading receiver in loss
Allen snared six of his 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the 27-24 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It's at least reassuring for fantasy managers Allen can survive a poor outing offensively from the Chargers as the veteran receiver caught five passes for 50 yards in the demoralizing Week 6 drubbing by the Ravens and followed it up with a 6-77-1 day in an equally disappointing performance Sunday. The Patriots run-heavy approach seemed to discombobulate the Chargers rhythm as quarterback Justin Herbert narrowly completed over 50 percent of his pass attempts, but the confusion seemed to impact Mike Williams (two catches for 19 yards on five attempts) far more than the ever-reliable Allen. It'll be interesting to see if the offense will become more efficient in what figures to be a favorable matchup next week against the Eagles.
Oct 17, 2021
Five catches in lopsided loss
Allen caught all five of his targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Allen actually led the Chargers in receiving yards, but the team's entire offense couldn't get anything going in the blowout loss. After reaching the 100-yard mark in each of the first two games, Allen has topped 50 only once in the past four, as Mike Williams has established himself as the go-to guy in Los Angeles' passing game heading into the team's Week 7 bye.
Oct 5, 2021
Makes seven grabs
Allen caught 7 of 11 targets for 36 yards in Monday night's 28-14 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Allen was restricted to underneath passes in the first half but had a good chance to haul in a deep crossing route in the second, only for an accurate delivery to fall off his fingertips. Without a gain longer than nine yards, Allen was held in check by the Raiders defense, but the veteran once again led the Chargers in receptions and targets, salvaging some value. Following consecutive games with under 6.5 yards per catch, Allen will hope to get loose more down the field in Week 5 versus the Browns.
Oct 2, 2021
Full go for Monday
Allen (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Raiders, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was a limited participant in practice earlier this week, but a full showing Saturday confirmed his status ahead of the critical divisional matchup. Through three games, Allen leads the team in targets (33) and catches (21) and is second in receiving yards (258) despite the emergence of Mike Williams as a co-No. 1 option.
Oct 1, 2021
Remains limited Friday
Allen (ankle) remained limited at practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Despite back-to-back limited practice sessions, so far there's been nothing to suggest that Allen's Week 4 status is in any danger. In any case, Saturday's final injury report will reveal whether Allen approaches Monday night's game against the Raiders carrying an injury tag, or is cleared to play in the contest.
Sep 30, 2021
Limited by ankle issue
Allen (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
We'll track Allen's status leading up to Monday night's game against the Raiders, but so far there's nothing to suggest that his Week 4 availability is in peril. Three games into the 2021 season, the veteran PPR-stalwart has recorded a predictably solid 21/258/1 stat line.
Sep 26, 2021
First touchdown of season
Allen registered eight receptions on 12 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The emergence of Mike Williams as a key red-zone threat has somewhat negated Allen's influence near the goal line, but the veteran wide receiver took advantage of shoddy goal-line coverage in the first quarter to tack on his first touchdown of the new campaign. Allen has seen double-digit targets in two of three games this season and should continue to see a relatively high workload given the pass-happy nature of the Chargers offense.
Sep 19, 2021
Goes over 100 yards
Allen snared four of his eight targets for 108 yards in the 20-17 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allen's 42-yard reception was the longest play of the game, but the star wideout was otherwise kept in check with the Cowboys defense repeatedly bearing down on quarterback Justin Herbert. The veteran wideout should be set for a heavy workload next week against the Chiefs, having recorded at least eight receptions and 80 yards in each of his last four games against the aforementioned divisional opponent.
Sep 12, 2021
Posts usual line
Allen caught nine of his 13 targets for 100 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Allen and Justin Herbert looked like a seasoned duo as the passing offense shredded what was widely regarded as a difficult Washington defense. An uncharacteristic drop by Allen in the first half stymied a possible touchdown drive, but it was an otherwise dominant day for the veteran wideout. Both Allen and Williams, the two outside wide receivers, registered double-digit targets while no other wideout saw more than five, reinforcing Allen's role as the top option. Expect a similar type of performance next week against a porous Cowboys defense.
Aug 12, 2021
Won't play in preseason
Coach Brandon Staley said Allen and other key starters won't play in the preseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to Allen, Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler are the notables on the offensive side of the ball. Clearly, Staley doesn't want to get to Week 1 without one of the trio available. For Allen in particular, he sat out the final two games of last season due to a lingering hamstring injury (Week 16-17) and subsequent stay on the reserve/COVID-19 list (Week 17). Prior to the absence, he fell just shy of 1,000 receiving yards (992, to be precise) for a fourth consecutive campaign, recorded triple-digit catches (100) for the third time during that stretch and matched his career best with eight TDs in 14 contests.
Jan 7, 2021
Returns from COVID list
The Chargers activated Allen (undisclosed/hamstring) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, per the NFL's official transactions report.
ANALYSIS
Allen missed the Chargers' regular-season finale after being placed on the COVID-19 list, but he'll now be eligible to return to team facilities. It's possible that he would've been unavailable for the win over Kansas City anyway, given that he missed Week 16 due to a lingering hamstring injury, but there's not yet any reason to suspect that his availability for the start of offseason workouts is in danger. Allen appeared in 14 games in 2020, during which span he quickly emerged as the favorite target of rookie quarterback Justin Herbert but narrowly missed logging a fourth straight season with 1,000 receiving yards. In all, Allen wraps up another impressive season with 100 catches (147 targets) for 992 yards and eight touchdowns.
Dec 31, 2020
Lands on COVID-19 list
Allen, who had been dealing with a hamstring issue, has been placed on the COVID-19 list by the Chargers, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
With Allen out for Sunday's season finale, Jalen Guyton (hamstring) and Tyron Johnson should be in line to see added opportunities in the Chargers' Week 17 passing game alongside starting wideout Mike Williams.
Dec 31, 2020
Still sidelined
Allen (hamstring) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Anthony Lynn has already acknowledged that there's a "good chance" Allen be available for Sunday's season finale against Kansas City. If Allen is out this weekend, Jalen Guyton (hamstring) and Tyron Johnson would be in line for added pass-catching opportunities in Week 17.
Dec 30, 2020
Iffy for finale
Allen (hamstring) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Manzano adds that coach Anthony Lynn acknowledged that there's a "good chance" Allen "won't be out there" in Sunday's season finale between 6-9 Los Angeles and Kansas City. If Allen is out this weekend, added Week 17 opportunities will be available for Jalen Guyton and Tyron Johnson.
Dec 27, 2020
Inactive Sunday
Allen (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
With Allen out Sunday, look for Jalen Guyton, Tyron Johnson and KJ Hill to see added opportunities in the Chargers' Week 16 passing game alongside starting wideout Mike Williams.
Dec 27, 2020
Iffy for Sunday
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network calls Allen (hamstring) a "legit game-time decision" for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Adam Schefter of ESPN previously suggested that the "plan going into Sunday is to let (Allen) recover" from his hamstring injury, but it appears as though the wideout will test things out during pre-game warmups before a final call is made on his status for the Chargers' 4:05 ET kickoff. Allen approached his team's Dec. 17 game against the Raiders in a similar fashion before suiting up and seeing a limited snap share (36 percent), en route to catching just one pass in his team's Week 15 win.
Dec 27, 2020
Not expected to play Sunday
Allen (hamstring), who is listed as questionable, isn't expected to play Sunday versus Denver, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was limited to 24 offensive snaps last week against the Raiders due to the hamstring injury, and he may be forced to miss his first game of the season this weekend. Quarterback Justin Herbert may be without two of his top weapons Sunday since tight end Hunter Henry (undisclosed) is also potentially unavailable while on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Dec 25, 2020
Listed as questionable
Allen (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos after being listed as limited on Friday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Previous reports have suggested that Allen could be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest and that's how his Week 16 status should be treated until or unless further reports with additional context arrive. If Allen is limited or out this weekend, added looks would be available for the likes of Jalen Guyton, Tyron Johnson and KJ Hill.
Dec 24, 2020
Could be game-day call
Coach Anthony Lynn indicated that Allen (hamstring) could be a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
That's how Allen approached last Thursday's contest against the Raiders before suiting up and seeing a limited snap share (36 percent) in the Chargers' victory. The team's top pass catcher thus appears destined to head into the weekend tagged with an official Week 16 'questionable' designation.
Dec 23, 2020
Misses practice Wednesday
Allen (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was viewed as iffy as last Thursday's game against the Raiders approached, but he suited up and saw a limited (36 percent) snap share in the Chargers' 30-27 overtime win. It's quite plausible that Allen's Wednesday absence is maintenance-related, a scenario that would be supported by his return to practice, in any capacity, Thursday.
Dec 18, 2020
Limited to one grab in win
Allen (hamstring) secured one of three targets for 17 yards and lost a yard on his one rush attempt in the Chargers' 30-27 overtime win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The veteran had been an iffy proposition to suit up heading into pregame warmups, and even though he was ultimately active, he played a much lesser role than customary. Allen's reception and yardage tallies were season lows, while he saw only one more target than in a Week 5 battle against the Saints during which he logged just 12 snaps due to back spasms. Allen will now have extra time to rest up ahead of a Week 16 contest against the Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 27, a game in which he'll look to record the eight yards he needs to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the fourth consecutive campaign.
Dec 17, 2020
Suiting up Thursday after all
Allen (hamstring) is listed as active Thursday at Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers capped Allen's practice reps this week, containing him to limited listings on two of three injury reports. His questionable tag became less than that when Tom Pelissero of NFL Network noted that the team is treating Allen as a "true game-time decision." Adam Schefter of ESPN later reported that the Chargers were concerned Allen may not be available, but if he was he likely would be limited. With the statuses of both Allen and Mike Williams (back) cleared for Thursday's game, L.A.'s receiving corps will be intact, but Schefter relayed that both players will be on "a rep count."
Dec 17, 2020
Concern regarding TNF status
The Chargers "are concerned they won't have" Allen (hamstring) for Thursday night's game against the Raiders, and if they do, he's likely to be limited, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The same report notes that Mike Williams (back) is not expected to play, which sets the stage for Tyron Johnson and Jalen Guyton to see added Week 15 snaps. Allen's status will be officially clarified once the Chargers post their inactives approximately 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, but it's starting to look like he can't be counted on for his usual high-volume role in the team's passing attack this week.
Dec 17, 2020
Viewed as game-time decision
Allen (hamstring) is a considered a "true game-time decision" for Thursday night's game against the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
As is Mike Williams (back), with the report noting that both wide receivers were sore following Week 14 action. With the Chargers on a short week, look for the duo to be tested out by the team during warmups, with Allen's Week 15 status to be confirmed once inactives are released before Thursday's 8:20 ET kickoff.
Dec 16, 2020
Listed as questionable for Week 15
Allen (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Raiders after being listed as limited on Tuesday and Wednesday's practice estimates.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow wideout Mike Williams (back), as well as running back Austin Ekeler (quad). We suspect that Allen, who was out there for 57 of the Chargers' 73 snaps on offense the team's win over the Falcons this past Sunday, will be able to handle his usual role Thursday, though his Week 15 status won't be confirmed until the release of inactives approximately 90 minutes prior to Los Angeles' 8:20 ET kickoff.
Dec 15, 2020
Limited Tuesday
Allen (hamstring) was limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from being listed as a non-participant, Allen would have fit in some reps if the Chargers had held practice Tuesday. Considering the upgrade in verbiage, he seems to be trending in the right direction for Thursday's game at Las Vegas, but ultimately Wednesday's report will have the final word on his status.
Dec 14, 2020
Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Allen (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Allen was on the field for 57 of the Chargers' 73 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-17 win Sunday over the Falcons, while catching nine of his 11 targets for 52 yards and a TD. We'll revisit the wideout's status once the team hits the field next to see if he's simply managing a minor issue or is in any danger of being limited or out Thursday night against the Raiders.
Dec 13, 2020
Scores again in win
Allen caught nine of his 11 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in the 20-17 win Sunday over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Sunday's touchdown tied Allen's career high in a season, but perhaps more impressively, the veteran route runner continues to score from at least 10 or more yards out. The injury to Mike Williams (back) allowed the Falcons' secondary to converge even tighter on Allen which set the stage for Tyron Johnson (6-55-1) to have a career day, but the 28-year-old was still a critical factor on the penultimate drive which ultimately saw Justin Herbert stare down Allen for what appeared to be a game-ending interception. Considering Allen's connection with Herbert and incredible usage rate (144 targets through 13 games) it's hard to imagine a dud the rest of the way considering the number of vulnerable defenses still left on the schedule.
Dec 6, 2020
Held in check vs. Patriots
Allen caught five of 11 targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 45-0 loss so the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Allen, who received plenty of attention from the talented New England secondary, did next to nothing aside from his long gain of 24 yards. He had touchdowns in five straight games heading into this one but saw his streak end as the Chargers were surprisingly shut out for the first time since the 2014 season. While Allen has now been held under 50 yards for three consecutive games, each of those matchups has been quite difficult on an individual level and he should have a chance to break out next Sunday against the subpar Falcons secondary.
Nov 29, 2020
Continues touchdown streak
Allen caught just four of his 10 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in the 27-17 loss Sunday to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Sunday marked the fifth consecutive game Allen scored a touchdown, this time snaring a nifty lofted pass in the back of the end zone after having mostly scored from 10-plus yards out in previous games. The veteran wide receiver needs just one more touchdown to tie his career-high set all the way back during his rookie campaign (2013), although challenging other career-high marks might require a bit of good fortune throughout the final five games of the regular season. The return of Austin Ekeler (hamstring) didn't do much to affect Allen's absolute command on the target funnel, but the Chargers did fall behind early which forced Justin Herbert to attempt an eye-popping 52 passes. It won't get much easier against an emerging Patriots defense next week.
Nov 22, 2020
Makes 16 catches in monster game
Allen caught 16 of 19 targets for 145 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 34-28 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Allen was blanketed with targets and tied a franchise record for receptions in a single game. He averaged just 9.1 yards per reception but produced an excellent yardage total through sheer volume and found the end zone in the third quarter to extend his touchdown streak to four consecutive games. This monster performance was especially promising after Allen was held in check a bit in his previous outing, and his rapport with Justin Herbert seems to be growing despite some inconsistency over the last few weeks. He will look to build on this effort next Sunday against a Bills defense that has been surprisingly susceptible to opposing wideouts this season.
Nov 15, 2020
Scores late in loss
Allen caught three of his seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the 29-21 loss Sunday to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Allen scored late despite the game already being well in hand, salvaging a bit of a down day for fantasy managers. The slow pace of the contest played a hand in the 28-year-old seeing a four-game low in targets, but Allen has at least registered scores in all but one of those aforementioned games. Things should be better in Week 11 as the Jets travel to take on the Chargers.
Nov 8, 2020
Big game despite loss
Allen (illness) caught nine of his 11 targets for 103 yards and a touchdown in the 31-26 loss Sunday to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Allen was a late add to the team's injury report thanks to an illness, but the wideout was able to pass multiple COVID-19 tests to clear him for the divisional matchup Sunday. It certainly didn't seem to affect Allen, however, as he once again led the team in targets and found his way into the end zone to close out the first half thanks to a bit of shoddy coverage on behalf of the Raiders. It was a bit curious Allen didn't see a single target in the final three minutes of the game, especially with the final two passes both coming within the six-yard line as the Chargers attempted a last-second come-from-behind win, but it was still one of Allen's best games of the 2020 campaign regardless. Since the Week 6 bye, Allen has put together 28 receptions for 295 receiving yards and two touchdowns which should put him in line for career-high numbers if he can keep this pace.
Nov 8, 2020
Suits up Sunday
Allen (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Allen was added to the Chargers' Week 9 injury report Saturday due to a sore throat that led the team to listing him as questionable/illness. Following that, Allen tested negative in back-to-back COVID-19 tests, paving the way for his clearance to suit up Sunday. With that, the Chargers' heavily targeted pass catcher should remain busy versus the Raiders. To date, Allen has racked up 53 catches (on 75 targets) for 548 yards and three TDs in seven games.
Nov 8, 2020
On pace to play Sunday
Allen (illness) is expected to play Sunday against the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was added to the injury report Saturday due to a sore throat, but COVID-19 protocols kicked in, and since then he's tested negative in back-to-back tests. Now cleared to suit up Week 9, he'll look to take advantage of a Raiders defense that has allowed 9.1 yards per target (eighth worst in the NFL) and seven touchdowns in seven games to wide receivers this season.
Nov 8, 2020
Looks on track to play
Allen (illness), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, will be eligible to play after testing negative for COVID-19 earlier in the day, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen was added to the Chargers' injury report Saturday, not because of a positive COVID-19 test but because he was dealing with a sore throat. The fact that the wideout remains COVID-19 negative at least offers some reassurance about his health, and all indications are that Allen's sore throat won't prevent him from playing this weekend. Assuming he avoids the inactive list ahead of the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, Allen should remain busy in the Los Angeles passing attack after drawing no fewer than 10 targets in any of the five full games he's played with Justin Herbert under center.
Nov 7, 2020
Status for Sunday uncertain
Allen is dealing with a sore throat and has tested negative for COVID-19, but his availability for Sunday's game against the Raiders remains up in the air, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old was added to the injury report Saturday and is officially considered questionable. Allen will need to pass additional COVID-19 testing Sunday to have a chance of suiting up. According to Schefter, the Chargers hope the veteran wideout will be able to play but are preparing as though he'll be unavailable.
Nov 7, 2020
Lands on injury report with illness
Allen (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Allen was a late arrival to the injury report thanks to an illness. As of right now it's difficult to speculate what Allen's status could be for Sunday's game, but the fact he was only listed as questionable should be at least slightly reassuring for fantasy managers. Hopefully more clarity will arrive before the team's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Nov 1, 2020
Racks up nine catches
Allen recorded nine receptions on 11 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allen was overshadowed by Mike Williams in terms of yardage, but still led the team in targets and receptions. He caught his third touchdown of the season on a nine-yard pass over the middle of the field late in the second quarter. Otherwise, he was mostly limited to short gains, with his only deep reception going for 22 yards once again while working over the middle of the field. For the season, Allen now has 53 receptions for 548 yards across seven games. He'll look to maintain his strong volume of targets in Week 9 against Las Vegas.
Oct 25, 2020
Surpasses 100-yard mark again
Allen (back) hauled in 10 of 13 passes for 125 yards during Sunday's 39-29 win against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Allen was knocked out of a Week 5 loss at New Orleans due to back spasms, but not before gathering in both of his targets for 29 yards and a touchdown. The catch, target and yardage counts in that game marked season lows for the eighth-year pro, but he clearly benefited from the Chargers' ensuing bye week, logging a LP/LP/FP practice regimen this week before Sunday's outburst. On the season, Allen has two outings with double-digit receptions, two 100-yard outings and a pair of touchdowns through six contests, putting him on pace for a 117-1,283-5 line on 168 targets. He'll look to keep it up next Sunday at Denver.
Oct 23, 2020
Good to go this week
Allen (back) practiced fully Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Anthony Lynn observed that Allen -- who was limited both Wednesday and Thursday -- got better every day this week, per Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register. "Keenan will be fine," Lynn noted Friday. The Chargers' top pass-catcher is thus poised to handle his usual workload Sunday, a context that has yielded a PPR-friendly 34/356/2 stat line for Allen through five contests.
Oct 22, 2020
Logs another limited session
Allen (back) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allen has been limited in back-to-back practice sessions, so we'll have to see if he approaches Sunday's game against the Jaguars listed as questionable or free from a Week 7 injury designation. So far there's nothing to suggest that his availability for the contest is in any peril.
Oct 21, 2020
Listed as limited participant
Allen (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Allen left in the first quarter of a Week 5 loss to the Saints due to back spasms, but coach Anthony Lynn said that Allen would be "fine." The 28-year-old returning to practice Wednesday bodes well with the coach's optimism, and Allen will look to eliminate all doubt about his availability for the Week 7 matchup against Jacksonville by upgrading to full participation by the end of the week.
Oct 21, 2020
Set to practice Wednesday
Coach Anthony Lynn said that Allen (back) will participate in Wednesday's practice, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynn added that Allen, who was forced out of Week 5's loss to the Saints due to back spasms, is not "100 percent" healthy, a hint that he could begin the week as a 'limited' practice participant. That Allen is coming off a bye could assist his chances of retaking the field versus Jacksonville on Sunday, though the final decision on his availability could come down to how much he's able to progress in practice through the week.
Oct 14, 2020
Will be fine, per coach
Coach Anthony Lynn noted Wednesday that Allen, who dealt with back spasms during Monday's loss to the Saints, will be "fine," Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers don't play again until Oct. 25, which should allow Allen -- who leads the team with 34 catches on 50 targets for 356 yards to go a long with two TDs in five games -- ample time to be ready to go in Week 7 against the Jaguars.
Oct 13, 2020
Contending with back spasms
Allen was diagnosed with back spasms after suffering the injury on his touchdown reception in Monday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen finished with two receptions for 29 yards and the score before departing in the first quarter. Because of the NFL's widespread schedule changes in recent days due to COVID-19-related postponements, the Chargers will be on Week 6 rather than Week 10, conveniently affording Allen some extra maintenance time before Los Angeles' next game Oct. 25 versus the Jaguars. The expectation is that the wideout will be at or near full health by that point.
Oct 12, 2020
Ruled out
Allen (back) will not return to Monday's game against the Saints, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen recorded two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a back issue. While the severity of the injury is unknown at this time, it is bad enough to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the game. In his absence, rookie Justin Herbert will have to look to the likes of Mike Williams, Jalen Guyton, KJ Hill and Tyron Johnson at receiver.
Oct 12, 2020
Questionable to return
Allen is considered questionable to return to Monday's matchup versus the Saints due to a back injury.
ANALYSIS
Allen caught both of his targets for 29 yards and a touchdown before exiting the contest. It remains to be seen if he will be able to return. In his absence, the Chargers will have Mike Williams, Jalen Guyton, KJ Hill and Tyron Johnson available at wide receiver.
Oct 4, 2020
Heavy workload in loss
Allen brought in eight of 12 targets for 62 yards in the Chargers' 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout was due for a busy day with Mike Williams (hamstring) out of action, and he unsurprisingly ended up pacing the team in receptions and targets. Allen has now brought in 28 of 41 targets for 290 yards and a touchdown in three games with Justin Herbert under center after bringing in four of eight targets for 37 yards in his one game with Tyrod Taylor (ribs/lung) as his quarterback in Week 1. Allen will look to keep up his strong connection with Herbert if the latter helms the offense once again in a Week 5 Monday night road matchup versus the Saints.
Sep 27, 2020
Impressive day despite loss
Allen caught 13 of his 19 targets for 136 yards and a touchdown in the 21-16 loss Sunday to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
There should be no doubt who Justin Herbert's favorite target is. Allen once again proved to be invaluable for the rookie quarterback routinely creating space with expert route running in the middle of the field. The myriad of crossing routes, which have been a staple in past years, were on full display as well allowing for the savvy route runner to always find a way to get open. Allen and Hunter Henry were Herbert's primary focus which unsurprisingly accounted for the majority of the targets in the middle of the field. The heavy target total probably isn't something that will be repeatable considering the Chargers trailed for the majority of the contest, but it's obvious Allen's stature as a fantasy mainstay has not changed with the rookie under center.
Sep 20, 2020
Just short of 100-yard effort
Allen caught seven of 10 targets for 96 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
First-round pick Justin Herbert got his first NFL start in place of Tyrod Taylor (chest) and immediately worked to establish chemistry with the Chargers' No.1 receiver, directing a team-high 10 targets Allen's way. It's early, but the team's QB turmoil hasn't disrupted Allen's volume, and he could be poised for a productive Week 3 against a Panthers defense that just allowed Mike Evans to pile up 104 receiving yards and a TD.
Sep 15, 2020
Mundane in season opener
Allen tallied four receptions for 37 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Allen did record eight targets, but at least three could be generously deemed "not catchable". It was a disappointing outing for the veteran wide receiver, particularly with the likes of Mike Williams (shoulder) and Hunter Henry able to capitalize on their bountiful target shares to the tune of 142 combined receiving yards. Allen had arguably some of his best outings against the Chiefs last season, piling together 17 receptions, 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the two meetings during 2019 thanks in large part to a game script that quickly got out of hand for the Chargers. While the Tyrod Taylor offense hasn't looked particularly efficient passing the ball, there might be enough opportunities late which could afford Allen a bounce-back performance next week.
Sep 5, 2020
Inks four-year extension
The Chargers and Allen agreed to a four-year, $80 million extension Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After Allen puts pen to paper on the deal, Allen will become the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL behind only Julio Jones (and tying Amari Cooper in AAV). Allen is working without Philip Rivers for the first time in his career in 2020, but the 28-year-old still has a clear path to significant targets, whether they come from Tyrod Taylor or rookie first-round pick Justin Herbert.
Aug 15, 2020
Still leading the pack
Allen is expected to maintain his role as primary threat in the passing game, Hayley Elwood of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen's role as the team's primary receiving threat was never in doubt, particularly after a third consecutive season with at least 90-plus receptions and 1,190 receiving yards. However, the change from franchise icon, Philip Rivers, to veteran backup, Tyrod Taylor, has caused some concern from outsiders, if for no other reason than lack of familiarity. At least when it comes to scheme, expect Allen to be used in exactly the same way, with the possibility of increased production down the road when No. 6 overall pick and verified strong-arm specialist, Justin Herbert, eventually makes his way into the starting lineup.
Oct 24, 2019
Sits out practice with hamstring issue
Allen didn't participate in Thursday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen appeared on the Chargers' injury report earlier this season due to a knee issue, but the hamstring injury is a new concern for the wideout. He may have tweaked something in the aftermath of Wednesday's practice, as the Chargers didn't include him on their initial Week 8 injury report. Allen's status now becomes something his fantasy managers need to monitor heading into Sunday's game against the Bears.
Sep 20, 2019
Good to go in Week 3
Allen (knee) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Texans after practicing fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
After being limited Wednesday and Thursday, Allen was full-go Friday, which sets the stage for him to continue to serve as a high-volume target for QB Philip Rivers in Week 3. He's logged 25 targets through his first two games this season, which has produced back-to-back eight-catch outputs for the Chargers' top pass-catching option.
Sep 19, 2019
Limited again Thursday
Allen (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen's workload was restricted for the second day in a row, but no reports have surfaced suggesting his status for the Week 3 matchup with the Texans is in any serious peril. Through Los Angeles' first two contests, Allen has played 87 percent of the team's offensive snaps while hauling in 16 of 25 targets for 221 yards and a score.
Sep 18, 2019
Logs limited practice
Allen (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Allen was on the field for 59 of a possible 65 snaps on offense in Week 2's loss to the Lions, and with no reported setbacks in that contest, we suspect that his limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related.
Aug 20, 2019
Practicing Tuesday
Allen (ankle) returned to the practice field Tuesday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Given Allen's past struggles with injuries, there was plenty of cause for concern when it was initially believed he could miss the remainder of the preseason. Fortunately, his participation should alleviate some of those worries. Even if Allen's held out of the upcoming preseason contests, it would likely be a precautionary measure to ensure his good health for the start of the regular season.
