Blanked on Week 5 stat sheet
Granson went without a target while playing 22 of the Eagles' 61 snaps on offense in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Despite seeing his most extensive playing time of the season, Granson went without a look in the passing game for the third game in a row. Granson still looks like a strong candidate to match or exceed last week's 36 percent snap share in this Thursday's game against the Giants. The Eagles are expected to be without Grant Calcaterra (oblique) for Week 6, leaving Granson as the clear top backup to top tight end Dallas Goedert.
Sep 15, 2025
Second straight game with one catch
Granson pulled in his lone target for five yards in Sunday's victory over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Granson was elevated from No. 3 to No. 2 tight end in the absence of Dallas Goedert (knee), which saw his offensive snap count jump from 17 to 33. He still finished with just a single catch, though, so it would likely take injuries to both Goedert and Calcaterra (who also caught just one pass Sunday) forGranson to have a shot at fantasy relevance.
Mar 14, 2025
Lands with Philadelphia
Granson is signing a one-year contract with the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
A 2021 fourth-round pick, Granson was the tight end of choice in clear passing situations for most of his tenure with the Colts, but he didn't get much playing time otherwise and scored just one TD in 62 regular-season games. He did have back-to-back seasons of 30-plus catches and more than 300 yards in 2022 and 2023, before sinking to a 14-182-0 receiving line in 2024. Granson may end up part of a rotation in Philadelphia if the trade rumors concerning Dallas Goedert come to fruition.
Jan 7, 2025
Reels in one pass
Granson caught one of four targets for seven yards in Sunday's 26-23 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Granson was unable to get much going Sunday, earning four targets for the second straight week. After a quiet 2024 campaign, the 26-year-old tight end finished the season with just 14 catches on 31 targets for 182 yards and no touchdowns. Granson is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so the former fourth-round draft pick could be headed to a new locale in 2025 unless the Colts re-sign him to a new deal.
Jan 1, 2025
Reels in three passes
Granson caught three of four targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 45-33 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Granson had a relatively quiet game Sunday, though his 34 yards ranked him third among Colts pass catchers in the contest. The 26-year-old tight end has caught at least one pass in just eight of the 16 games he's appeared in this season, as he has split snaps with fellow tight ends Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox throughout the season. Nonetheless, Granson will look to finish the 2024 campaign on a high note in a favorable matchup against the Jaguars in Week 18.
Dec 25, 2024
Not targeted against Titans
Granson failed to record a single target in Sunday's 38-30 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Granson operated as the Colts' No. 3 tight end Sunday behind teammates Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox, playing just 19 of 62 offensive snaps while not being targeted in a contest for just the third time this season. The veteran tight end's limited usage and inconsistent production keep him far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Giants.
Dec 18, 2024
Three grabs in loss
Granson caught three of four targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Granson's three receptions, four targets and 47 yards were all season highs in each category. The veteran tight end played 27 of the Colts' 76 offensive snaps Sunday, behind Drew Ogletree (30) and ahead of Mo Alie-Cox (23). Granson's remains off the fantasy radar as he continues to play a limited role in Colts' passing attack. Indianapolis will host the Titans in Week 16.
Nov 27, 2024
Held catchless against Lions
Granson failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Granson was a complete non-factor in the contest, failing to record a single reception for the sixth time in 12 games. The veteran tight end did, however, lead all Indianapolis tight ends in playing time, as he was on the field for 35 of the Colts' 55 offensive snaps Sunday. Meanwhile, fellow tight ends Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox played 30 and 23 snaps, respectively. Despite operating as the Colts' No. 1 tight end, Granson should not be trusted for fantasy purposes in a Week 13 matchup against the Patriots.
Nov 18, 2024
Just one reception in win
Granson had one reception for four yards on two targets in Sunday's win at the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Mo Alie-Cox had two targets as the Colts give few targets to tight ends and divide playing time fairly equally between three or four tight ends each week. Granson at least gets the most playing time in the passing game as he played on 32 of the offense's 70 snaps and went out on 18 routes, both which led Indy's tight ends.
Nov 13, 2024
Two grabs in loss
Granson caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 30-20 loss to Bills.
ANALYSIS
Granson's two grabs were a season high for the fourth-year tight end, as he continues to play a limited role in the Colts' passing game in 2024. The 26-year-old played 24 of the Colts' 64 offensive snaps Sunday, just behind Mo Alie-Cox (27) and ahead of Drew Ogletree (22). Granson remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 11 matchup against the Jets.
Nov 6, 2024
Targeted once against Minnesota
Granson caught his lone target for 22 yars in Sunday's 21-13 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Granson was on the field for 44 percent of the Colts' offensive snaps, just behind fellow tight end Mo Alie-Cox who played 48 percent of snaps. The 26-year-old Granson now has just four receptions for 75 yards through nine games. His lack of involvement and production should keep the 6-foot-3, 242-pounder far off the fantasy radar as the Colts host the Bills in Week 10.
Oct 28, 2024
Just one reception in loss
Granson had one reception for four yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Houston.
ANALYSIS
Granson was the only tight end in the Indy offense to record a catch amid starting quarterback Anthony Richardson's struggles (10-of-32 passing for 175 yards). The Colts again split playing time fairly evenly between four tight ends, and none got significant targets, making any a poor fantasy option.
Oct 16, 2024
Held catchless in win
Granson failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Granson has been held without a reception for three straight weeks. The 26-year-old veteran finished third in offensive snaps (17) Sunday as the Colts' No. 3 tight end behind Mo Alie-Cox (34) and Drew Ogletree (21). Through six games, Granson has totaled just two catches for 49 yards on five targets. The 6-foot-3, 242-pounder should remain far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 7 matchup with the Dolphins.
Oct 1, 2024
Not targeted in win
Granson failed to record a single target in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Granson remains part of crowded tight end rotation, splitting snaps with teammates Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree. The 26-year-old Granson played 20 of the Colts' 66 offensive snaps, while Alie-Cox and Ogletree played 31 and 24 snaps, respectively. Through four weeks, the 6-foot-3, 242-pounder has just two catches for 49 yards. Granson remains far off the fantasy radar when the Colts visit the Jaguars in Week 5.
Sep 23, 2024
Has 40-yard catch in win
Granson had one reception for 40 yards on his lone target in Sunday's win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
The Colts again split playing time fairly evenly between three tight ends and none got significant targets, though Granson had a big play. Granson played 27 of the offense's 56 snaps compared to 20 for Drew Ogletree and 31 for Mo Alie-Cox. Only Granson had a target among the trio.
Sep 16, 2024
Just one reception in loss
Granson had one reception for nine yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Granson played the most snaps of Indy's three tight ends (Mo Alie-Cox had 18 snaps and Drew Ogletree had 14 snaps), but the trio amassed just three receptions and four targets for 43 yards after no tight end had a reception in Week 1. With the Colts using a more vertical passing attack than last season, none of the Colts' tight ends may get significant targets.
Sep 9, 2024
No receptions in season opener
Granson did not have a reception and was targeted just once in Sunday's loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Granson played on 25 of the offense's 45 snaps, but went out on just 13 routes, per Pro Football Focus. Mo Alie-Cox got the start at tight end but also had one target. With the Colts using a more vertical passing attack than last season, none of the Colts tight ends may get significant targets.
Aug 22, 2024
Team's top TE heading into season
Granson caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Thursday's 27-14 preseason win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Granson was the intended receiver on Anthony Richardson's pick six on the second drive, which was the result of a miscommunication between the quarterback and tight end. Despite that miscue, it was encouraging that Granson got the lion's share of playing time in the five possessions that Richardson and the first-team offense played, finishing as one of three players to catch multiple passes from Richardson. After leading all Colts tight ends with 368 receiving yards last season, Granson sits atop the depth chart heading into the Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the Texans.
Aug 2, 2024
Leader in early TE competition
Granson appears to be a the top of an unsettled depth chart at tight end after the first week of training camp, Kevin Bowen of 93.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
He's competing with Drew Ogletree, Mo Alie-Cox, Jelani Woods and Will Mallory for playing time. Granson was the most productive member of a crowded Colts tight end room last season, posting 30 catches for 368 yards and one touchdown on 50 targets. However, the Colts split targets between three tight ends last year and that pattern could continue this season.
Jan 10, 2024
Targeted once against Texans
Granson caught his lone target for 23 yards in Saturday's 23-19 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Granson finished the season with a quiet day, catching just one pass for the third time in the last three contests. In 15 games this season, the 25-year-old tight end recorded just 30 receptions for 368 yards and one touchdown. He also added a two-yard rush. Targets to tight ends were spread amongst several different options this season, capping Granson's potential to produce consistently meaningful numbers for fantasy. Entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2024, the veteran will hope to establish a more prominent role in the Colts' offensive plans.
Jan 1, 2024
Just one reception in win
Granson had one reception for 13 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Granson played on 35 of the offense's 56 snaps, but only went out on 16 routes as the Colts ran the ball with a lead most of the game. Mo Alie-Cox drew the start at tight end and caught two passes, but no tight end was a big factor in the passing game. The Colts continue to divide targets among three or more tight ends heading into the season finale against the Texans.
Dec 24, 2023
Team-high yardage total in loss
Granson brought in five of seven targets for 62 yards in the Colts' 29-10 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Granson led the Colts in receiving yards while checking in second in receptions and tying for the runner-up spot in targets as well. The tight end's surprisingly productive day seemed to be largely the byproduct of the absence of pass-catching back Zack Moss (arm) and top receiver Michael Pittman (concussion), although the matchup against a Falcons defense that's given up plenty of production to tight ends all season didn't hurt his chances. Granson's reception and target tallies were also season highs, but whether he can come close to replicating it in a Week 17 home matchup against the Raiders is highly speculative considering how erratic the Colts' usage of their tight ends has been.
Dec 11, 2023
Two receptions in loss
Granson started at tight end (along with Mo Alie-Cox in a two-TE formation) and had two receptions for 17 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Granson started and played the most snaps among tight ends, but Will Mallory had bigger numbers in the passing game (5 receptions for 46 yards). The Colts spread out playing time fairly evenly among tight ends as Mallory played on 20 of the offense's 62 snaps, while starter Granson played on 24 snaps, Drew Ogleree played on 17 snaps and Mo Alie-Cox played on 19 snaps (and caught a TD). While Granson is the starter and has give catches his last two games, he's also had two or fewer receptions in 7 of 11 games this season.
Dec 4, 2023
Has 72 yards receiving in win
Granson had three receptions for 72 yards on three targets and one carry for two yards in Sunday's overtime win at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Granson started at tight end but Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox had a similar workload. Granson played 24 snaps on offense while Ogletree played 28 and Alie-Cox played 24. Will Mallory played 13 snaps. All four tight ends went on between 12 to 13 routes. Granson had the most receptions while Mallory had four targets (two receptions). While Granson had the most yardage, it looks like a pretty equal split between four tight ends in the offense. It's hard to forecast any of the tight ends having a consistent role in the passing game as a result.
Nov 27, 2023
No receptions in win
Granson did not have a reception on his lone target in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Granson played on 31 of the offense's 73 snaps, which was second among Indy tight ends (27 snaps for Will Mallory and 34 for Mo Alie-Cox). However, Mallory (two) and Alie-Cox (one) had receptions. No tight end in Indianapolis has much fantasy value given how rarely they are utilized in the passing offense and how the targets are split three ways, and Granson has just one reception in his last three games.
Nov 15, 2023
Minimal involvement in win
Granson caught one of his two targets for five yards in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Granson played 32 of the Colts' 57 offensive snaps Sunday, just behind fellow tight end Mo Alie-Cox who finished the game with 34 offensive snaps. In the eight games Granson has played, he has totaled just 17 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown. The 25-year-old will likely continue to see limited opportunities in the Colts' passing attack while splitting snaps with Alie-Cox. Granson should remain off the fantasy radar when the Colts' return from their Week 11 bye to host the Buccaneers on Nov. 26.
Nov 6, 2023
No receptions in win
Granson didn't have a reception despite two targets in Sunday's win at Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Granson returned after missing two games due to a concussion. While he wasn't a big part of the passing offense, he could take on a larger workload next week with Drew Ogletree leaving with a foot injury.
Nov 3, 2023
Set to return Sunday
Granson has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and is slated to play Sunday against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Granson, who last suited up in Week 6, is thus slated to re-enter the Colts' tight end mix following a two-game absence. In the six contests Granson has been available for this season, he's caught 16 of his 26 targets for 170 yards and a TD, though in his last outing (Oct. 15 versus the Jaguars), the 2021 fourth rounder hauled in three of his four targets for a season-high 67 yards. In his return to action, however, Granson profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option, with fellow TEs Drew Ogletree, Mo Alie-Co and Will Mallory also in the mix this weekend.
Nov 1, 2023
Listed as full participant
Granson (concussion) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Indianapolis held a walkthrough rather than an actual practice Wednesday, but it's still encouraging to see Granson listed as a full participant after sitting out the team's previous two games due to a concussion. If he can officially clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before Sunday, Granson would be in line to rejoin a Colts tight end room that also features Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox against the Panthers.
Oct 27, 2023
Ruled out this week
Granson (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Saints, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson was inactive last weekend after sustaining a concussion in Week 6 and he'll sit out another contest after evidently not having fully progressed through the league's concussion protocol. In his continued absence, Drew Ogletree, Mo Alie-Cox and Will Mallory are slated to handle the Colts' Week 8 tight end duties. Granson's next chance to suit up will occur Nov. 5 against the Panthers.
Oct 27, 2023
Returns to practice
Granson (concussion) returned to practice Friday morning in a non-contact jersey, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's his first participation of any kind since suffering a concussion late in a Week 6 loss to the Jaguars. With Granson out for last week's 39-38 loss to Cleveland, the Colts mostly used Drew Ogletree as their tight end for clear passing situations.
Oct 26, 2023
Remains sidelined Thursday
Granson (concussion) isn't practicing Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson also missed Wednesday's session, which sets the stage for Friday's practice to loom large with regard to the tight end's chances of playing Sunday against the Saints. Granson didn't practice at all last week before being made inactive for the Colts' Week 7 loss to the Browns.
Oct 25, 2023
Not practicing
Granson (concussion) isn't practicing Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson didn't practice at all last week and ended up missing a loss to the Browns on Sunday. In his absence, Drew Ogletree got most of the TE snaps in passing situations but didn't draw any targets. Another missed game this Sunday against New Orleans would leave more snaps for some combination of Ogletree, Mo Alie-Cox and Will Mallory.
Oct 20, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Coach Shane Steichen noted Friday that Granson (concussion) is out for Sunday's game against the Browns, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Granson unavailable this weekend, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory and Mo Alie-Cox are slated to handle the Colts' Week 7 tight end duties. Granson will now target a potential return to action Oct. 29 against the Saints.
Oct 20, 2023
Not practicing Friday
Granson (concussion) remained sidelined at practice Friday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday either and is thus trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Browns. If Granson is ruled out later Friday, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory and Mo Alie-Cox would be in line to handle the Colts' Week 7 tight end duties.
Oct 19, 2023
Not practicing
Granson (concussion) isn't practicing Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson has missed consecutive practices since entering concussion protocol after Sunday's 37-20 loss to Jacksonville. An absence for Sunday's matchup with Cleveland would leave more playing time for some combination of Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory and Mo Alie-Cox. The closest match in terms of skill set is Mallory, who has taken 10 of his 20 snaps in the slot this year, whereas Ogletree and Alie-Cox have gotten far more playing time but predominantly as in-line tight ends (84.1 percent of snaps inline for Ogletree, 90.1 percent for Alie-Cox).
Oct 18, 2023
Not practicing
Granson (concussion) isn't practicing Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson entered concussion protocol after Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Jaguars, blighting one of his better performances -- three catches for 67 yards -- so far this season. He's been Indy's TE of choice in obvious passing situations, of which there were many in the blowout loss this past Sunday. An absence for the Week 7 matchup with Cleveland likely would put Drew Ogletree and/or Will Mallory in a larger role.
Oct 16, 2023
In concussion protocol
Coach Shane Steichen said Monday that Granson (concussion) has been placed in the NFL's five-step protocol for brain injuries, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson demonstrated concussion symptoms after Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Jaguars, in which he secured three of four targets for 67 yards. The 2021 fourth-round pick will need to gain full medical clearance before suiting up for another NFL game, so his status will need to be monitored heading into a Week 7 matchup against the Browns.
Oct 16, 2023
Impressive yardage tally in loss
Granson brought in three of four targets for 67 yards in the Colts' 37-20 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Granson checked in second in receiving yardage for the Colts on the strength of a game-long 45-yard reception. The 2021 fourth-round pick has enjoyed a modest but steady presence in coach Shane Steichen's air attack over the first six games, with Sunday's production pushing his season line to 16-170-1 across six games. Granson profiles as Indianapolis' most consistent pass-catching option at tight end heading into a Week 7 home matchup against the Browns.
Oct 9, 2023
Two receptions in win
Granson had two receptions for 15 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Granson and Gardner Minshew couldn't connect on a wide-open touchdown reception at the end of the first half or he would have had much better fantasy production. There were some worrisome signs, however, as Drew Ogletree got the starting nod at tight end and played more snaps (40) than Granson (26). However, the Colts still divide their passing game production between too many tight ends for viable fantasy value in most formats for any of them.
Oct 2, 2023
Just two receptions Sunday
Granson had two receptions for 24 yards on five targets in Sunday's overtime loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox were the starters in a two-tight end set over Granson but Granson played the most snaps on offense. Granson played 35 snaps, Ogletree had 28 snaps and Alie-Cox played 17 snaps, but both Ogletree and Alie-Cox had touchdown receptions. The Colts again divided the work in the passing game among three tight ends. While Granson had the most snaps and ran the most routes, the division of targets makes Granson a tough option for most fantasy formats.
Sep 25, 2023
Two receptions in win
Granson had two receptions for nine yards on four targets in Sunday's win at Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Granson looks like the top receiver among the Indy tight ends as he had more targets, receptions and went out on more routes than Mo Alie-Cox and Andrew Ogletree. However, none of the tight ends figure prominently in the passing game.
Sep 18, 2023
Three receptions Sunday
Granson had three receptions for 16 yards on four targets in Sunday's win at Houston.
ANALYSIS
Granson played despite popping up on the injury report Saturday with a hamstring injury. He led Colts tight ends in snaps with 37 (compared to 23 snaps for Mo Alie-Cox and 11 for Will Mallory) and went on the most routes (26 compared to 7 for Mallory and 10 for Alie-Cox). Granson still looks like the top tight end in the passing game, but the Colts divide their tight end targets amid a deep group that results in little fantasy value in most formats.
Sep 17, 2023
Will play Sunday
Granson (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Granson popped up on the injury report Saturday with a hamstring injury, but it won't stop him from suiting up. The starting tight end caught four of six targets for 39 yards during the season opener versus Jacksonville, but it's possible he's limited in Week 2, as the Colts may be precautionary in an effort to avoid a potential setback.
Sep 16, 2023
Pop up on injury report
Granson was added to the injury report Saturday with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Granson started in the Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, tallying four catches and six targets compared to a total of four targets combined for backups Mo Alie-Cox and Andrew Ogletree. If Granson is unable to play, Ogletree and Alie-Cox would likely split the workload, with the former perhaps seeing a few more pass-catching opportunities against a formidable Texans defense.
Sep 10, 2023
Four grabs in Week 1 loss
Granson caught four of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The third-year tight end produced a solid start to his season and was the clear top receiving option at his position for the Colts, as Andrew Ogletree (concussion) and Mo Alie-Cox combined for just one catch on four targets. Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson left late in Sunday's loss with a knee bruise, but whether he or Gardner Minshew are under center for Indianapolis in Week 2, Granson should be a reliable security blanket against the Texans.
Aug 25, 2023
Catches two passes
Granson caught both of his targets for 25 yards in Thursday's 27-13 preseason win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Granson's 25 yards were a team high at halftime even though the Colts had their first-team offense on the field for the entire half, six drives. QB Anthony Richardson completed only six of 17 passes for 78 yards, with Granson and WR Michael Pittman being the only players to catch multiple throws from the rookie. Granson nonetheless faces an uphill battle to average more than three or four targets a game, as the Colts likely will start the season with some kind of timeshare at TE when they host the Jaguars on Sept. 10. Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox also got snaps with the starters Thursday night, and Jelani Woods (hamstring) might play more than any of them once he's healthy.
Aug 13, 2023
Starting TE in preseason opener
Granson had one reception for 20 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Granson got the start at tight end with several tight ends sitting out due to injury (Mo Alie-Cox, Jelani Woods, Will Mallory). A report from Zak Keefer of The Athletic in May indicated Granson isn't a lock to make the final roster, but his status seems more secure during the preseason especially with the other injuries at the position. Granson has caught 76.4 percent of his 55 targets since the Colts made him a fourth-round pick in 2021, but he's averaged only 9.7 yards per catch and is still searching for his first NFL touchdown.
May 19, 2023
Not a roster lock?
Granson isn't a lock for the Week 1 roster, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Granson led the Indianapolis tight ends with 32 catches last year, but Mo Alie-Cox took more snaps and Jelani Woods had more yards (312-302) and touchdowns (3-0) on the same number of targets (40). While the team didn't make any high-profile additions to the TE room this offseason, there's more competition for jobs with veteran Pharoah Brown and fifth-round pick Will Mallory joining the mix. Mallory could challenge Granson for playing time in passing situations, as both are small for the position and mostly valued for receiving skills/potential. Granson has caught 76.4 percent of his 55 targets since the Colts made him a fourth-round pick in 2021, but he's averaged only 9.7 yards per catch and is still searching for his first NFL touchdown.
Jan 6, 2023
Sitting out finale
Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said Granson (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game against the Texans, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson will close out the season with a third consecutive absence, paving the way for Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox to split the bulk of the reps at tight end. A 2021 fourth-round pick out of SMU, Granson amassed 31 receptions for 302 yards and no touchdowns on 40 targets over 13 appearances during his sophomore season.
Jan 4, 2023
Misses another practic
Granson (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Granson missed the past two games and isn't likely to be rushed back for a regular-season finale without any playoff implications. Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox have split snaps at tight end with the 2021 fourth-round pick missing the past two games.
Dec 30, 2022
Ruled out for Week 17
Granson (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Granson will miss a second consecutive game due to this injury, leaving Week 18 against the Texans as his last opportunity to make another appearance this season. Jelani Woods has led the Colts in receiving yards in both of the previous games that Granson sat out, so Woods figures to be the primary beneficiary of another Granson absence.
Dec 29, 2022
Not practicing Thursday
Granson (ankle) wasn't present for Thursday's practice and will be listed as a non-participant for the session, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson hasn't practiced in any capacity since he apparently picked up the ankle injury in the Colts' Week 15 overtime loss to the Vikings. Unless he can reverse the trend and get back on the field in some fashion Friday, he'll likely sit out a second straight game this weekend against the Giants. If Granson is sidelined Sunday, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods would split reps at tight end.
Dec 28, 2022
Listed as DNP again
Granson (ankle) is listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
ANALYSIS
The Colts are merely holding a walkthrough two days after losing to the Chargers with Granson (ankle) on the sideline. Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox split the snaps and routes at TE, with Woods getting a few more routes and tying for second on the team with five targets. It's possible the rookie gets more of the workload this Sunday at the Giants, considering he previously had a big game (98 yards) when Granson was out Week 12 against the Steelers. That said, Woods played less than two-thirds of snaps in both the games Granson missed, still sharing work with Alie-Cox.
Dec 24, 2022
Won't play Monday
Granson (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Granson was unable to practice at any point during Week 16 prep due to an ankle injury, so the Colts' ruling on his status Saturday comes as no surprise. With the second-year pro sidelined for the second time this season, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods will handle most of the TE reps for Indianapolis on Monday.
Dec 23, 2022
Misses another practice
Granson (ankle) didn't participate in Friday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After opening Week 16 prep with two straight absences from practice, Granson will have one final chance Saturday to get in some on-field work before the Colts decide whether he'll carry a designation into Monday's game against the Chargers. If Granson is sidelined Monday, it would condense what has largely been a three-man timeshare at tight end that also includes Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox.
Dec 22, 2022
Sits out practice with ankle issue
Granson didn't practice Thursday due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
According to Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis, Granson was also a spectator Wednesday, when the Colts held an unofficial workout following last Saturday's 39-36 overtime loss to the Vikings. Despite the lengthier turnaround for Week 16, Granson hasn't yet moved past the ankle issue, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice leading up to Monday's game against the Chargers. If he's available to play Monday, Granson will be catching passes from his third different quarterback of the season, as interim head coach Jeff Saturday named Nick Foles the team's new starting signal-caller earlier this week.
Dec 19, 2022
Two catches in OT loss
Granson caught both of his targets for 34 yards in Saturday's 39-36 overtime loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Granson finished with one more target and two fewer yards than fellow tight end Jelani Woods. The 6-foot-7 Woods appears to have more long-term upside than Granson, who is undersized for a tight end at 6-foot-2 and has yet to score a touchdown in his NFL career.
Dec 6, 2022
Six targets in return from illness
Granson was in the starting lineup at tight end and had four receptions for 19 yards on six targets in Sunday's loss at Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Granson returned after missing one game due to an illness and resumed his spot as the top tight end in the passing game. Granson led the tight ends in snaps, routes run and targets. However, he didn't gain many yards given the struggles of the Indy passing game. He doesn't have a lot of upside given that Indianapolis splits playing time in the passing game between Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods.
Nov 30, 2022
Listed as full particant in walk-through
Granson (illness) was listed as a full participant during Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Granson was inactive for Week 12 due to an illness, which led to a breakout game for Jelani Woods (shoulder). Now that Granson is healthy, he'll look to reclaim his spot as the Colts' top tight end against the Cowboys, especially if Woods, who didn't practice Wednesday, is unavailable for Week 13.
Nov 28, 2022
Inactive Monday
Granson (illness) inactive for Monday night's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
With Granson out, look for Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods to handle the bulk of the Colts' tight end snaps in Week 12, with Nikola Kalinic in reserve. Granson will now target a potential return to action in Week 13 versus the Cowboys.
Nov 27, 2022
Now listed as doubtful
Granson (illness) has been downgraded to doubtful for Monday night's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Granson, who didn't practice this past week, had been listed as questionable, but with the downgrade to doubtful, the tight end is trending toward missing Monday's contest. If Granson is unavailable, the stage would be set for Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods to handle the bulk of the Colts' TE snaps in Week 12.
Nov 26, 2022
Status in question for Monday
Granson (illness) is questionable for Monday's game against the Steelers, Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Granson was absent from all three practices of Week 12 prep due to an illness, but the Colts will give him a bit more time before making a decision on his availability. If he's able to suit up Monday, he'll join Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods in a timeshare at tight end for Indianapolis, which so far has resulted in a 25-249-0 line on 32 targets for Granson this season.
Nov 25, 2022
Misses another practice
Granson (illness) missed practice again Friday.
ANALYSIS
Granson now has just one more chance to return to practice ahead of Monday night's game against the Steelers. If the 2021 fourth rounder is unable to suit up for the contest, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods would be in line to handle the bulk of the Colts' TE snaps in Week 12.
Nov 24, 2022
Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Granson (illness) was listed as a non-participant in Thursday's walk-through.
ANALYSIS
The tight end now has two more chances to return to practice before the Colts' final injury report is submitted ahead of Monday night's game against the Steelers. Through 11 contests, Granson -- who caught his only target for 16 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Eagles -- has caught 25 of his 32 targets for 249 yards, but he's been a hit-or-miss option of late, while working in a tight end time share with Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods.
Nov 21, 2022
One catch in Week 11
Granson caught his only target for 16 yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Granson has yet to find the end zone in his second NFL season, nor has he carved out a consistent pass catching role in the Colts' run-first offense. The tight end has been held to two or fewer catches in seven of 11 games heading into a Week 12 home game against the Steelers on MNF>
Nov 13, 2022
Four catches against Vegas
Granson caught all four of his targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
With Jelani Woods (shoulder) inactive and Mo Alie-Cox dealing with an ankle injury in practice during the week, Granson wound up with less competition for targets than usual at tight end and had one of his best games of the season. The 2021 fourth-round pick is still looking for his first career TD in the NFL, but he continues to tease some intriguing upside. Even with Matt Ryan back under center for the Colts, however, the team's offense may struggle to move the ball in Week 11 against the Eagles.
Nov 7, 2022
No receptions in loss
Granson did not have a reception and just one target in Sunday's loss at New England.
ANALYSIS
Mo Alie-Cox got the start at tight end and played more snaps than Granson (34 to 26) but they were closer in routes (19 to Alie-Cox and 17 for Granson). Jelani Woods played 18 snaps before exiting with a shoulder injury. Granson looked to be leading the trio in the passing game, but he took a step back last week and Indy's passing woes make any of the tight ends a long shot each week for viable fantasy value.
Oct 31, 2022
Three receptions Sunday
Granson had three receptions for 11 yards on three targets in Sunday's loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
While Mo Alie-Cox got the start at tight end, Granson had the most snaps on offense (32, compared to 29 for Alie-Cox) and went out on about the same number of routes (12, compared 23 for Alie-Cox and 10 for Jelani Woods). There were not any major changers in tight end usage, despite the change to Sam Ehlinger at quarterback. Granson looks to lead the trio and none of the three are used much except for an occasional end-zone target.
Oct 24, 2022
Just one target Sunday
Granson had one reception for six yards on his lone target in Sunday's loss at Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Granson led Indy's tight ends in routes run (18, compared to 15 for Mo Alie-Cox and 14 for Jelani Woods), but Indy's passing game couldn't get on track. None of the three tight ends were a factor Sunday with a combined two receptions and three targets. Granson still looks like the top receiving tight end, but all three are splitting the targets and there will be games like Sunday where none are a factor.
Oct 20, 2022
Practices fully Thursday
Granson (neck) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
With his full return to practice Granson is all but locked into Sunday's game against Tennessee. The Colts are committed to forging Granson into their primary pass-catching tight end, though through 23 career games productive results have not yet surfaced.
Oct 19, 2022
Limited at practice
Granson (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Granson logged 31 of a possible 81 snaps on offense in this past Sunday's win over the Jaguars en route to catching all four of his targets for 38 yards. Through six games, Granson has caught 16 of his 22 targets for 159 yards, while working in a tight end time share that also includes Mo Alie-Cox (11/136/2) and Jelani Woods (5/73/3).
Oct 17, 2022
Leads tight end group in win
Granson started at tight end and had four receptions for 38 yards on four targets in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Granson got the start and played the most snaps and went out on the most routes of the tight end group. He played 31 snaps and went out on 25 routes, compared to Jelani Woods (31 snaps, 24 routes) and Mo Alie-Cox (28 snaps and 13 routes). Each Colts tight end has alternated big weeks, but Alie-Cox didn't have a target and Indy appeared to change their offensive game plan to more of a fast tempo offense. Granson's increase in production may be the start of a trend.
Oct 7, 2022
Limited to one catch Thursday
Granson secured one of three targets for 16 yards during the Colts' 12-9 overtime win over Denver on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Granson had a season-high four receptions for 62 yards last week against the Titans, but his one catch during Thursday's matchup marked his lowest total of the season. While the Colts had trouble generating much offensive production as a whole against Denver, Granson has been inconsistent over the first five games of the year.
Oct 3, 2022
Four receptions in loss
Granson had four receptions for 62 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss to Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
The Colts played two and three tight ends frequently in the passing game against the Titans (a combined 11 receptions for 170 yards). Granson played on 29 of the offense's 65 snaps and went out on 17 routes which was behind Mo Alie-Cox's 45 snaps and 26 routes and similar to Jelani Woods' 15 snaps and 11 routes. Alie-Cox had two touchdown catches after Woods had two touchdowns the week before. Each week it seems a different tight end is the top option in the passing game, but the larger trend is the Colts may utilize their tight ends more in the passing game with the secondary receivers failing to make a big impressions (most notably Parris Campbell).
Sep 26, 2022
Just two receptions Sunday
Granson had two receptions for seven yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
After two games, it looked like Granson may emerge as the top tight end in the passing game and see a larger share of the targets. However, that trend took a step back in Week 3. Granson played fewer snaps (42 to 30) and ran fewer routes (23 to 13) than Mo Alie-Cox, though he more targets (but just two to one). However, Jelani Woods caught two touchdowns (running just 12 routes), making him another viable tight end in the passing game. The end result is Granson's role is too small and inconsistent for most fantasy formats.
Sep 19, 2022
Just two receptions Sunday
Granson had two receptions for 14 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
While Granson didn't have a productive day and the offense struggled (scored no points), Granson again was the top tight end target in the passing game. He played the same number of snaps as Mo Alie-Cox (27) and went out on more routes (20 to 17) though Cox did have three targets.
Sep 12, 2022
Sizeable receiving role in Week 1
Granson had three receptions for 22 yards on seven targets in Sunday's tie at Houston.
ANALYSIS
While Mo Alie-Cox started at tight end and Granson began on the bench, it was an encouraging game for his role in the offense. Granson was tied for second on the team in targets and played more snaps (51 of the offenses 92 snaps) than Cox (50 snaps). He also went out for more passes than Cox (30 to 20). Granson could become the top tight end receiving option in Indy if one game is an indication.
Aug 20, 2022
Two more catches Saturday
Granson caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Saturday's 27-26 preseason loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Granson was involved from the onset, catching the first pass thrown by Nick Foles while the Colts rested starters such as Matt Ryan and Mo Alie-Cox. While Alie-Cox's superior blocking ability and experience have him poised to lead Colts tight ends in playing time, Granson's expected to take on a more significant role in his second NFL season after seeing minimal involvement in 2021 as a rookie fourth-round pick out of SMU.
Aug 14, 2022
Two receptions in preseaon debut
Granson had two receptions for 29 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason loss to Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Granson showed off his speed when he outran a defender on a 23-yard slant route. He got his work with the second-team offense, however. He's the second passing option at tight end in the offense and may not get many targets, but that could change if oft-inured Parris Campbell or another receiver gets hurt.
May 1, 2022
Increased competition at TE
Granson faces increased competition for the No. 2 tight end role with the Colts drafting two tight ends in the 2022 NFL Draft, The Athletic reports. The Colts drafted Jelani Woods in the third round (73rd overall) and Andrew Ogletree in the sixth round (192 overall).
ANALYSIS
Granson entered the offseason as a potential starting tight end after the retirement of Jack Doyle, but the Colts re-signed Mo Alie-Cox in free agency and then drafted two tight ends. It's unlikely Woods or Ogletree will compete for a significant role in the passing game, but Granson will need to earn the No. 2 tight end role in the offense this summer.
Mar 31, 2022
Should see increased opportunities
With Jack Doyle having retired, Granson is in a position to see an expanded role in the Colts' passing game this coming season, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first NFL season, the 2021 fourth-rounder was limited to 11 catches (on 15 targets) for 106 yards in 17 games, but GM Chris Ballard believes that Granson has "big upside." While the SMU product still has sturdy blocker Mo Alie-Cox to contend with for targets and the team could added further tight end depth in advance of Week 1, Granson could potentially emerge as a fantasy sleeper at his position should the 6-foot-2, 242-pounder develop a productive rapport with the Colts' new signal-caller, Matt Ryan.
Jan 24, 2022
Solid rookie season
Granson caught 11 of his 15 targets for 106 yards across 17 appearances during the 2021 campaign.
ANALYSIS
Granson didn't see a target through the first three weeks of the season, but his involvement in the passing game picked up from Week 4 through Week 13. During that stretch, he caught 10 passes for 100 yards and recorded at least one target in nine of 10 games, including multiple targets five times. Jack Doyle is expected to be back, but Mo Alie-Cox's contract is up this offseason, so the rookie could see increased involvement during year two.
Dec 6, 2021
Catches one of two targets
Granson caught one of his two targets for six yards during Sunday's 31-0 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Granson hasn't been targeted more than twice in any of his 13 appearances this season, but he's recorded at least one catch in each of the last six games. Over that span, he's recorded seven receptions for 78 yards. Despite the consistent production, Granson likely remains a risky fantasy option as long as Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox are healthy.
Nov 29, 2021
Totals 22 yards in loss
Granson hauled in both of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Granson hasn't been targeted more than twice in any of his first 12 appearances of the season, but he's recorded at least one catch in each of the last five games. During that time, the 23-year-old has secured six of seven targets for 72 yards.
Nov 17, 2021
Slightly involved versus Jaguars
Granson secured his only target for 15 yards during Sunday's 23-17 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Granson has played a rotational role on offense all season, and he's now logged four straight games with a single target in each. The rookie fourth-round pick's development is coming along nicely, but he's not currently much of a candidate for fantasy relevance behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox.
Oct 4, 2021
Gets first NFL reception
Granson had one reception for three yards on two targets in Sunday's win at Miami. It was his first career NFL reception.
ANALYSIS
Granson saw his first sizeable playing time as Jack Doyle was likely limited by a sore back. Granson played on 30 of the offense's 71 snaps and went out on 18 routes. Doyle played just 21 snaps. While Granson didn't produce viable fantasy stats, watch his progression as there were some reports during the preseason that he could be featured in the passing game. While that hasn't materialized yet, the rookie could see a larger role later in the season.
Sep 13, 2021
Minimal role on offense
Granson did not have a target and played just seven snaps on offense in Sunday's loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Despite some reports from the preseason that he could be featured in the passing game, Granson went out for a pass on just two plays. He's a distant third option at tight end behind Mo Ali-Cox and Jack Doyle. The fourth-round 2021 draft pick is a work in progress who could move into a larger role later this season.
Aug 27, 2021
Modest production Friday
Granson caught three of four targets for 23 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old tied for second on the Colts in targets on the night, but his longest grab went for only 10 yards as he worked with Jacob Eason and the first-team offense. There's been speculation Granson could have a bigger role than expected in the passing game even if he's only third on the depth chart at tight end, as the team has a track record of finding targets for multiple TEs, but the 2021 fourth-round pick is still a long shot to have much fantasy value.
Aug 27, 2021
Could be featured in passing game
Granson will be featured in the Indy passing game if training camp is any indication, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While this is an encouraging report, Granson hasn't been showcased in the preseason. He has two receptions on seven targets through two preseason games while playing 42 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He's also behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox on the depth chart. However, this report shows that Granson could be utilized in the Colts' passing game similar to how Trey Burton was deployed in 2020 when the Colts utilized three tight ends in the passing game and could be a sleeper should Doyle or Alie-Cox miss time due to injury.
Jun 30, 2021
Strong impression this spring
Granson made a strong impression in spring practices and could be utilized in the passing game similar to how Trey Burton was used last season to capitalize on his skills after the catch, ESPN Indianapolis 107.5 The Fan reports. "Kylen Granson is what we saw on tape. He's an explosive athlete," head coach Frank Reich said. "We knew he was a real smart guy and he's picking up the offense real fast."
ANALYSIS
The Colts selected Granson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 127th overall. It sounds like the rookie has a chance to carve out a role in the offense right away, but he's behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox at the position. Still, the Colts utilized three tight ends in the passing game last season.
May 1, 2021
Indy lands sleeper tight end
The Colts selected Granson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 127th overall.
ANALYSIS
Granson didn't have much hype going into the draft, but the SMU product is a nice pick by the Colts in this spot. At 6-foot-2, 241 pounds Granson is clearly a replacement for fellow undersized tight end Trey Burton. Granson was a very productive pass catcher in college and rounded out his prospect profile with solid athletic testing, logging a 4.64-second 40 to go with a 36.5-inch vertical and 120-inch broad jump. It's not clear how much Granson can compete for reps as a rookie, but his movement ability is novel among the Colts' tight end personnel otherwise.
