Future in Arizona in limbo
Murray, who was placed on injured reserve Wednesday due to a mid-foot sprain, is not expected to start again if he returns this season, "absent injury to Jacoby Brissett," Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While the Cardinals haven't explicitly indication that Brissett will remain their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, head coach Jonathan Gannon implied Tuesday that Brissett would have started Week 10 in Seattle even if Murray was fully healthy. The Cardinals then deactivated Murray a day later, and though he'll be eligible to return from IR beginning in Week 14, he looks like he could be ticketed for backup duties so long as Brissett stays healthy and continues to direct a productive offense. With that in mind, Rapoport suggests Murray may have played his last game with Arizona, potentially making the 28-year-old signal-caller a trade or cut candidate during the upcoming offseason. Murray is already fully guaranteed $36.8 million for 2026, and he'll be guaranteed an additional $19.5 million in base salary for 2027 if he remains on the roster through March 16.

Moving to injured reserve
Coach Jonathan Gannon announced Wednesday that the Cardinals are placing Murray (foot) on injured reserve, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from Gannon naming Jacoby Brissett as Arizona's starting QB for Week 10, Murray now will be sidelined for the rest of November due to the mid-foot sprain that has kept him out since he suffered it Week 5. Brissett will continue to lead the offense for the foreseeable future, while Gannon told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com that Murray has a chance to return this season. Murray's first opportunity to do so will be Sunday, Dec. 7 against the Rams.

Continuing rehab, won't start Week 10
Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon announced that Jacoby Brissett will start Sunday's game in Seattle, but Murray (foot) hasn't been ruled out from being available in a backup capacity, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon suggested after Monday's 27-17 win over the Cowboys that Murray will return to the starting role once fully healthy, but because the 28-year-old isn't 100 percent recovered from the mid-foot sprain he suffered in an Oct 5. loss to the Titans, the Cardinals will have Brissett direct the offense for the fourth game in a row. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Murray has consulted with multiple specialists on his foot injury and was provided estimated recovery timelines ranging from 4-to-8 weeks. With that loose timeframe in mind, Gannon acknowledged that Murray could still be a candidate for injured reserve, despite not being officially ruled out for Week 10. Murray had been a limited practice participant throughout Week 9 prep, so his ability to potentially to upgrade to full participation at any point this week could improve his odds of returning to a starting role Week 11 against the 49ers.
Nov 4, 2025
Still in line to start
Coach Jonathan Gannon stated that Murray (foot) will remain the Cardinals' starter when he is healthy following Monday's win over the Cowboys, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacoby Brissett has been impressive in three starts for the Cardinals, throwing for multiple scores in each while also leading the team to a primetime win over the Cowboys on Monday. His performance has seemingly created a quarterback controversy in Arizona, though Gannon tried to end that chatter with a clear statement that Murray remains the team's starter. He has yet to record a full practice since suffering his foot injury, so it remains unclear whether Murray will be ready to return in Week 10 against Seattle.
Nov 3, 2025
Officially inactive again
Murray (foot) is listed as inactive Monday at Dallas, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hasn't been able to upgrade to full participation in practice due to a mid-foot sprain that he initially suffered Week 5 against the Titans, and he'll now be sidelined for a third straight game while Jacoby Brissett continues to lead the Cardinals offense and Kedon Slovis serves as the backup. Murray's next chance for game action is this coming Sunday at Seattle.
Nov 3, 2025
In line to be inactive Monday
Murray (foot) isn't expected to play Monday at Dallas, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray thus is slated to miss a third consecutive game due to a mid-foot sprain, but how the Cardinals officially list him -- either the emergency third quarterback or inactive outright -- remains to be seen. In any case, Jacoby Brissett is poised to start in place of Murray for a third time this season.
Nov 1, 2025
Officially questionable for Week 9
Murray (foot) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Cowboys, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was limited in practice all week while recovering from a foot sprain. That led to head coach Jonathan Gannon announcing Jacoby Brissett as the starter for Monday night's game, though Murray could have a role as the backup if he's cleared to play. If Murray is inactive for Week 9, Kedon Slovis would be in line to serve as Brissett's backup for a third consecutive game.
Nov 1, 2025
Won't start vs. Dallas
Murray (foot) will not start against the Cowboys on Monday as Jacoby Brissett is set to make his third consecutive start, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is making progress from a foot sprain that he sustained during the Cardinals' Week 5 loss against the Titans. He missed the two games prior to the Week 8 bye and still limited in practice during Week 9 prep, with Brissett taking most of the first-team reps Thursday and Friday. Given the lack of practice reps, Murray will cede the starting spot to Brissett for a third consecutive game, though the former could have a role as the Cardinals' backup, assuming he is active for Week 9.
Oct 31, 2025
Limited in practice again
Murray (toe) was a limited practice participant Friday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that he was preparing Murray to start Monday's game at Dallas, but beat writers saw Jacoby Brissett take most of the first-team reps both Thursday and Friday during the media-access portion of practice It's possible that changed once practice was closed off to reporters, but all we know for sure is that the Cardinals limited Murray's workload again. He was also a limited practice participant throughout Week 7, getting a 'questionable' designation on the final injury report before being declared inactive on gameday. It's unclear at this point if a Week 8 bye allowed Murray to make enough progress for a Week 9 return -- and the situation is all the more challenging for fantasy with Arizona playing on Monday.
Oct 30, 2025
Officially limited following bye
Murray (foot) officially was limited at Thursday's practice, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of the Cardinals' Week 8 bye, coach Jonathan Gannon told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com on Thursday that the team is preparing Murray to start Monday's game at Dallas. "Get him fully healthy, play," Gannon added after Murray missed Arizona's last two games due to a mid-foot sprain. During Thursday's session, No. 2 QB Jacoby Brissett was spotted throwing to the starters, while Murray was working with reserve pass catchers, per Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com. The Cardinals also pushed back their QB availability to later this week after Murray initially was expected to speak to the media Thursday, according to Weinfuss. As a result, it remains up in the air if Murray indeed will resume starting duties Week 9.
Oct 28, 2025
Completes on-field workout
Murray (foot) was on the field for Tuesday's bonus practice session and was spotted throwing passes to the Cardinals' main receiving options, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Drake notes that Murray hasn't been throwing to members of Arizona's first-team offense in practices for weeks while he's been managing a foot sprain, but his presence on the field Tuesday is an indication that he's in a much better spot physically coming out of Arizona's Week 8 bye. Head coach Jonathan Gannon acknowledged as much following the unofficial workout, telling Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com that Murray is "doing better" after missing the Cardinals' last two games before the bye. The Cardinals' first Week 9 injury report will be released Thursday and will indicate whether Murray is practicing as a limited or full participant, but at this stage, he appears to be trending toward starting Monday's game in Dallas.
Oct 20, 2025
Status following Week 8 bye TBD
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that it's "to early to tell" if Murray (foot) will be able to play in the Cardinals' next game Monday, Nov. 3 at Dallas following a Week 8 bye, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon also reiterated what he told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com after Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Packers: that Murray will resume starting duties once he's healthy enough to do so. While Murray has missed the last two contests due to a mid-foot sprain, Jacoby Brissett has directed the offense during that stretch, completing 52 of 80 passes for 599 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, rushing nine times for 45 yards and losing his only fumble. Murray himself hasn't surpassed 220 passing yards in any of his five starts and has combined for a 6:3 TD:INT so far this season.
Oct 19, 2025
Still starter when healthy
Coach Jonathan Gannon said after Sunday's loss to the Packers that Murray (foot) remains the Cardinals' starting quarterback when healthy, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray suffered a mid-foot sprain in the Week 5 loss to the Titans, and Jacoby Brissett has started each of the last two contests, both narrow losses to the Colts and Packers by a combined eight points. Brissett again had Arizona competitive Sunday against Green Bay, completing 25 of 36 pass attempts for 279 yards and two touchdowns, adding six rushing attempts for 26 yards with his legs. In two starts under center, Brissett has completed 52 of 80 passes for 599 yards, four touchdowns and just one interception. He's rushed nine times for 45 yards. The Cardinals have looked more competitive with Brissett at the controls, but Murray still has his coach's support as the starter. Arizona has a Week 8 bye before going on the road to face Dallas in Week 9.
Oct 19, 2025
Sitting out again in Week 7
Murray (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Packers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Since emerging from a Week 5 loss to the Titans with a mid-foot sprain, Murray hasn't been able to log more than a limited practice (four in all) over the last two weeks. He was listed as questionable for each of the past two contests, but like in Week 6, insiders Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN reported beforehand that Murray was trending toward another absence, with the latter noting that the QB is in line to play in the Cardinals' next game Monday, Nov. 3 at Dallas following a Week 8 bye. With Murray again in street clothes, backup Jacoby Brissett will direct Arizona's offense for a second straight game.
Oct 18, 2025
Not expected to face Packers
Murray (foot) is not expected to suit up for Sunday's home game against Green Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray remains officially listed as questionable after having turned in a trio of limited practice sessions, but the Cardinals are expected to start veteran backup Jacoby Brissett for a second consecutive contest. With Arizona then slated for a Week 8 bye, the expectation is that Murray will be ready to retake the field Monday, Nov. 3 versus the Cowboys in Week 9. Confirmation on Murray's status will arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 18, 2025
Trending toward not playing Week 7
The Cardinals are planning to start Jacoby Brissett instead of Murray (foot) against the Packers on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray drew the questionable tag for Sunday's game after being a limited practice participant all week. However, with the Cardinals on a bye for Week 8, it appears the team will sit Murray to give him more time to heal from a mid-foot sprain, which makes Week 9 against the Cowboys on Monday, Nov. 3 the next opportunity for the 28-year-old quarterback to play. Brissett had a strong showing in the Cardinals' Week 7 loss to the Colts, with the veteran completing 27 of 44 passes for 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while turning three carries into 19 yards.
Oct 17, 2025
Status in question for Week 7
Murray (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Packers, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray already has missed one contest due to a mid-foot sprain, and despite being limited during all three Week 7 sessions, he was seen throwing to reserve pass catchers Thursday and Friday, suggesting Jacoby Brissett is more likely than Murray to start again this weekend. The Cardinals have three QBs on the active roster, so even if Murray isn't active Sunday, he could be available as the emergency third quarterback behind Brissett and Kedon Slovis.
Oct 17, 2025
Uncertain for Week 7
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday that Murray (foot) is "doing well" but remains uncertain to play Sunday against the Packers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been a limited practice participant since last Friday and appears headed for a 'questionable' designation for the second straight week. He might even come down to a game-day decision this time, after reports last Saturday all but ruled him out for Sunday's eventual loss at Indianapolis. WRs Marvin Harrison (concussion) and Zay Jones (knee) are also uncertain for Week 7.
Oct 16, 2025
Remains limited Thursday
Murray (foot) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being limited at Wednesday's closed walkthrough, Murray was seen throwing passes to reserve wide receivers Thursday, while Jacoby Brissett worked with the Cardinals' first-team offense, according to Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic. It was a similar breakdown of reps to last Friday before Murray was inactive this past Sunday at Indianapolis due to a mid-foot sprain and yielded the start to Brissett. Nevertheless, Murray has one more chance to prove his health before the Cardinals likely tag him with a designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers.
Oct 15, 2025
Officially limited Wednesday
Murray (foot) was a limited participant at Wednesday's walkthrough, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to sitting out this past Sunday's game at Indianapolis, Murray managed one limited session Friday, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported late Saturday that the quarterback was tending to a mid-foot sprain that may force him to sit out multiple weeks. Coach Jonathan Gannon told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com on Wednesday that Murray will need to "make sure he's healthy enough to play. We'll progress him along this week and see where he's at." Murray's activity level Thursday and Friday thus will be key for his chances to return Sunday against the Packers, but if he needs more time to recover, Jacoby Brissett is on hand to lead the Cardinals offense.
Oct 12, 2025
Officially inactive Sunday
Murray (foot) is listed as inactive Sunday at Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Murray made a brief exit due to a foot injury Week 5 against the Titans and then didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday before returning in a limited capacity Friday and earning a questionable designation for Week 6. Both Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday evening that Murray wasn't expected to play Sunday, and Rapoport even noted the quarterback is dealing with a mid-foot sprain that may require more than one week on the sideline. For as long as Murray is unavailable, Jacoby Brissett will direct the Cardinals offense.
Oct 11, 2025
Not expected to play Sunday
Murray (foot) is likely to be sidelined for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is dealing with a foot injury that kept him to a DNP/DNP/LP practice progression this week. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Murray is dealing with a mid-foot sprain that is "a version of a Lisfranc injury" and that could sideline the nimble quarterback for more than one week. While the Cardinals haven't completely closed the door on Murray playing Sunday, it appears the team will most likely turn to Jacoby Brissett to start at quarterback against Indianapolis. Brissett is familiar with the Colts organization, having played for the club for four seasons from 2017 through 2020.
Oct 10, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Murray (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to practice Friday, listed as a limited participant after sitting out the previous two days. He may be a game-day decision ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, with Jacoby Brissett ready to step in and start after getting most of the first-team reps during practice this week.
Oct 10, 2025
Returns to practice
Murray (foot) is returning to practice Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that Murray's availability for Sunday against the Colts will be based on the QB's progress over the next couple of days. A return to practice is at least a step in the right direction.
Oct 9, 2025
No practice Thursday
Murray (foot) didn't practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hasn't practiced so far this week due to the foot injury that forced him out for three snaps during this past Sunday's 22-21 loss to the Titans. He thus has one more opportunity to mix into drills Friday before Arizona potentially makes a ruling on his status for Week 6 action. If Murray sits out Sunday's game at Indianapolis, veteran signal-caller Jacoby Brissett is waiting in the wings to lead the Cardinals offense.
Oct 8, 2025
Won't practice Wednesday
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday that Murray (foot) will not practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon "we'll see" regarding Murray's status for Week 6, echoing his comments from Monday. The starting quarterback missed just three snaps during the third quarter of Arizona's 22-21 loss to the Titans in Week 5 due to the injury, but he now appears up-in-the-air for Sunday's road matchup against the Colts. Murray will have two more opportunities to practice before the Cardinals have to assign him an injury designation for Sunday, but if he can't go, Jacoby Brissett will be in line to draw a start at Indianapolis.
Oct 6, 2025
Coach taking wait-and-see approach
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that the Cardinals will "see how the week goes" after Murray emerged from Sunday's 22-21 loss to the Titans with a foot injury, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed three offensive snaps in the third quarter of Sunday's game due to a listed foot injury, but he was able to return and finished with 220 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions on 23-for-31 passing, four carries for 25 yards and a TD and a lost fumble. It marked the first time in five contests this season in which he didn't toss for a touchdown, and he now has four turnovers (three INTs and the fumble) on the campaign. The Cardinals will kick off preparations for Sunday's road matchup with the Colts on Wednesday, at which point Murray's status for Week 6 may begin to come into focus.
Oct 5, 2025
Rushing score in loss
Murray completed 23 of 31 passes for 220 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 22-21 loss to the Titans. He added four rushes for 25 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Murray and the Cardinals' offense looked to be in for a big performance, as they put up 21 points within the first 17 minutes of game time. He accounted for one of those scores with a 12-yard rushing touchdown by out-racing the defense to the right sideline. It was an odd performance from there, however, as the Arizona offensive playcalling became passive, and Murray also missed a few plays in the third quarter with a foot injury. The end result was a relatively muted stat line, including his first game this season without a passing score.
Oct 5, 2025
Back in Sunday's contest
Murray (foot) returned to Sunday's game versus the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray made a brief exit in the third quarter due to a foot injury but was able to get back on the field in short order. He'll look to build upon the 194 yards on 19-for-25 passing and 25 yards and a TD on four carries that he'd put together at the time of his departure.
Oct 5, 2025
Exits Sunday's game early
Murray sustained a foot injury during Sunday's game against the Titans, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray walked to the locker room in the third quarter after bungling a snap off his facemask that resulted in a lost fumble. Jacoby Brissett will direct the Cardinals offense for as long as Murray is sidelined. At the time of his exit, Murray had completed 19 of 25 passes for 194 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed four times for 25 yards and one TD.
Sep 26, 2025
Pair of picks in Week 4 loss
Murray completed 27 of 41 passes for 200 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while adding five rushes for 41 yards in the Cardinals' 23-20 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Murray endured a difficult night despite completing a respectable 65.9 percent of his passes and throwing multiple touchdowns for the second time in four contests. The 2019 first overall pick took six sacks, and his second-quarter interception came at the Seahawks' 22-yard line to snuff out what would have been a high probability of at least three points in a game ultimately decided by a field goal. Murray did lead the Cardinals on a clutch 12-play, 57-yard march late in the fourth quarter that culminated in a seven-yard touchdown pass to Emari Demercado, but Sam Darnold and the Seahawks had just enough time to squeak out the victory. Murray takes a 6:3 TD:INT and impressive 25-148-0 rushing line over four games into a favorable Week 5 home matchup against the Titans on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Sep 21, 2025
Lackluster numbers in loss
Murray completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for 159 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for 37 yards in Sunday's 16-15 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Murray lacked explosiveness Sunday, generating just one play of 20 or more yards (a 32-yard pass to Marvin Harrison) in the narrow division loss. The 28-year-old has done a good job protecting the football this season, with last week's interception accounting for his only turnover through three starts. Murray's modest passing and rushing totals have built a high floor for his fantasy value heading into Thursday's tilt against the Seahawks.
Sep 14, 2025
Gets win despite mixed results
Murray completed 17 of 25 pass attempts for 220 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing seven times for 32 yards in Sunday's 27-22 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
It was a tale of two halves for Murray, who had his team up comfortably going into the break, but was barely clinging onto victory when time expired. An untimely interception to end a 70-yard drive in the fourth quarter played a huge role in letting Carolina back into this contest. It was Murray's first interception of the season to go along with his three passing touchdowns and 70 rushing yards through two starts in 2025. The dual-threat QB is shaping up to be a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy option in a road matchup against a tough 49ers defense next Sunday.
Sep 7, 2025
Tosses two TDs in opener
Murray completed 21 of 29 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints. He added 38 rushing yards on seven carries.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old QB did get sacked five times, but it was otherwise a very sharp performance from Murray in the season opener. Both touchdown passes came in the red zone in the second quarter, as he found Marvin Harrison for a one-yard score before chucking a shovel pass to James Conner for a four-yard TD. Murray threw multiple TD passes only four times in 17 regular-season games in 2024, so this was a very encouraging start to 2025 for the Cardinals passing game. He figures to be productive again at home in Week 2 against the Panthers.
Sep 7, 2025
Suiting up Sunday despite illness
Murray (illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game at New Orleans, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals tacked on Murray to their Week 1 injury report Sunday morning due to an illness, but there was an expectation all along he'd be able to suit up. Whether or not he'll be able to make it through the entire game unscathed remains to be seen, but if Murray needs to step off the field at any point, Jacoby Brissett is on hand to direct Arizona's offense in such a scenario.
Sep 7, 2025
Set to play through illness
The Cardinals added Murray to their Week 1 injury report with an illness, though he doesn't have a designation and is on track to play Sunday in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Per Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site, Murray never appeared on any of the injury reports that the team issued Wednesday through Friday, so the illness is likely something that cropped up at some point over the weekend. At this stage, the Cardinals don't appear to be viewing the ailment as anything that will prevent Murray from starting, though fantasy managers may nonetheless want to keep an eye on news pertaining to his status leading up to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff just to ensure his condition hasn't taken a turn for the worse.
Aug 21, 2025
Starters to sit Saturday
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that he plans to sit Arizona's starters and other key players during Saturday's preseason finale against the Raiders, as was the case during the team's second exhibition game against Denver, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray and the rest of the starters handled the first two possessions of the Cardinals' preseason opener against Kansas City on Aug. 9, but the first-team offense appears to have shown enough in practices since for Gannon to feel confident heading into Week 1. A consistent drumbeat throughout training camp has been the improved connection between Murray and second-year wideout Marvin Harrison, an encouraging development considering that Arizona made no notable changes to its skill-position personnel from last season. Murray and Harrison's next opportunity to demonstrate their purportedly improved rapport will arrive during the regular-season opener in New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Aug 19, 2025
Improving connection with Harrison
Murray and WR Marvin Harrison have improved their rapport ahead of the 2025 season, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray and most of the Cardinals' starting offense played the first two possessions of the team's preseason opener against the Chiefs on Aug. 9, and in the midst of completing seven of eight passes for 96 yards and one interception, he connected with Harrison once for 15 yards among his two targets. During this past Saturday's exhibition loss at Denver, Murray and the No. 1s didn't suit up, but it followed a joint practice last Thursday in which the QB and Harrison hooked up on a handful of passes versus a tough Broncos defense. Arizona didn't make any notable additions to its skill-position group this offseason, so in addition to Harrison, Murray again will have TE Trey McBride, WR Michael Wilson and RBs James Conner and Trey Benson as his top options in 2025.
Aug 9, 2025
Exceeds 100 total yards Saturday
Murray completed seven of eight passes for 96 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding two rushes for nine yards during the Cardinals' 20-17 preseason win over the Chiefs on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Murray's night got off to a rousing start in the form of 12- and 15-yard completions to Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison, respectively, which he bookended with his pair of scrambles. However, Murray's third pass attempt -- intended for Harrison -- was picked off, although he bounced back to lead a 10-play, 67-yard march on his next possession that culminated in a field goal. Murray had several more noteworthy connections during the drive, including a 21-yard strike to Trey McBride and two completions to Greg Dortch that totaled that amount as well. The interception aside, it was a positive start to preseason for the veteran signal-caller, who'll next face the Broncos on the road next Saturday night in Arizona's second preseason tilt.
Aug 5, 2025
Set to play Saturday
Murray and other starters are scheduled to play in Saturday's preseason opener against Kansas City, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Jonathan Gannon informed reporters Tuesday afternoon, marking a departure from previous years when he used the first preseason game to evaluate the lower portions of his depth chart. Gannon didn't say how much Murray and other starters will play, and it's unclear if WRs Michael Wilson (concussion) and Marvin Harrison (knee) will be available -- although Harrison did return to practice Tuesday.

Intends to run more in 2025
Murray said Wednesday during an interview with PHNX Sports that he feels as though the season-ending knee injury he sustained in 2023 "never happened" and that he's "open to running more next year," Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray said that his knee injury lingered at times during the 2024 season, but that with another healthy offseason under his belt, he doesn't anticipate being hampered at all moving forward. "I do feel like I have to run more next year," Murray said, comparing his dual-threat capabilities at full health to those of Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. The 27-year-old had a career-low 4.6 rushing attempts per game in 2024, though he was efficient on the ground, scoring five times and averaging a career-best 7.1 YPC. If Murray is indeed comfortable rushing more next season, and potentially able to develop improved chemistry with 2024 first-round pick Marvin Harrison, Arizona's offense will be primed to take a step forward next season.
Jan 5, 2025
Tosses four TD passes in Week 18
Murray completed 25 of 35 passes for 242 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions and reeled off 22 yards on three carries during Sunday's 47-24 win against the 49ers
ANALYSIS
In leading the Cardinals to their highest point total in a game this season, Murray played turnover-free football for the sixth time in 17 contests and also tossed a campaign-high four TD passes, connecting with WR Greg Dortch twice (from 23 and two yards), TE Trey McBride (two yards) and WR Marvin Harrison (12 yards). Murray ends the season with a 68.8 completion percentage, 226.5 passing yards per game and a 21:11 TD:INT while notching 78 carries for 572 yards and five more scores. This season marked the first of the five-year, $230.5 million extension he signed in July 2022, and he'll welcome back all of Arizona's key skill-position talent, including RB James Conner (knee) and WR Michael Wilson (hamstring), once the team reconvenes for the offseason program.
Dec 28, 2024
Standout numbers marred by INTs
Murray completed 33 of 48 passes for 321 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and rushed four times for 32 yards in the Cardinals' 13-9 loss to the Rams on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Murray's season-best passing yardage total came on a season-high number of completions and pass attempts, but his pair of turnovers played a key part in the loss. Both of the star signal-caller's interceptions transpired in the Rams' end zone, the first on a 40-yard heave on fourth down with 3:15 remaining. After Arizona got the ball back, Murray had the Cardinals marching toward a potential game-winning touchdown when his pass for Trey McBride bounced off the tight end's helmet just short of the goal line and the Rams' Ahkello Witherspoon pulled off an acrobatic pick that survived replay. Prior to that unfortunate turn of events, Murray did facilitate McBride's long-awaited first receiving touchdown of the season on a one-yard toss to cap off the first drive of the second half. Murray will have one chance to atone in a Week 18 home matchup against the 49ers.

Mixed results in crushing loss
Murray completed 20 of 32 pass attempts for 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception in addition to eight rushing attempts for 63 yards, another score and a fumble lost in Sunday's 36-30 overtime loss to Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Murray provided mixed results for fantasy managers in a must-win contest that the Cardinals squandered in overtime to a Panthers squad that entered Week 16 with three wins on the year. The dual-threat QB was responsible for two scores Sunday, but he also committed two turnovers for the third time over his last four appearances. The loss eliminated Arizona from playoff contention, meaning that Murray and the Cardinals can only play the role of spoiler in Week 17 against the Rams on Saturday.
Dec 15, 2024
Leaves game briefly Sunday
Murray completed 23 of 30 pass attempts for 224 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions while taking five carries for 11 yards in Sunday's 30-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Murray left the contest briefly to be examined for a potential head injury after a late hit in the second half of Sunday's lopsided win. Backup Clayton Tune replaced Arizona's starter for the remainder of the drive before Murray retook the reigns on the ensuing drive. While the dual-threat QB didn't throw any touchdowns for fantasy mangers Sunday, his only potential interception was erased by a roughing the passer penalty on the exact play he was injured on. Murray escaped the win in good health, putting the signal-caller on track to start next Sunday's tilt against Carolina.
Dec 8, 2024
Two TDs, two INTs in Week 14 loss
Murray completed 25 of 38 passes for 259 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 30-18 loss to the Seahawks. He added three rushing attempts for 16 yards and ran in a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Murray threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson on the opening drive, but the quarterback was picked off on the next two possessions, which helped Seattle build a 24-10 halftime lead. Murray closed the gap to 27-18 in the third quarter with a two-yard touchdown pass to James Conner followed by a Murray rush for a two-point conversion, but that's as close as Arizona would get. While Murray tossed multiple touchdown passes for only the third time this season, he also finished with multiple interceptions for the second consecutive game after having no multi-interception games through Week 12. He'll look to clean up the mistakes in Week 15 against the Patriots.
Dec 1, 2024
Picked off twice in Minnesota
Murray completed 31 of 45 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Vikings. He added 48 rushing yards on seven carries.
ANALYSIS
The 45 attempts were a season high for Murray, as James Conner struggled to produce much on the ground early and the Cardinals found more success with their short passing game. It was also the first time in 2024 that the QB tossed multiple picks, with both coming in the fourth quarter -- one with Arizona trying to protect a six-point lead, and the other on the team's final play after Minnesota took the lead with just 1:13 left on the clock. Murray has a poor 2:3 TD:INT over the last four games, and he may need to find more production in Week 14 against the Seahawks, a game that could have huge playoff implications in the NFC West.
Nov 24, 2024
Throws costly pick in Week 12
Murray completed 24 of 37 passes for 285 yards, no touchdowns and one interception and took two carries for nine yards during Sunday's 16-6 loss at Seattle.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals emerged from their Week 11 bye with a dud, with the team mustering a pair of Chad Ryland field goals and nothing more. The game script flipped on Murray's interception midway through the third quarter, which Seahawks CB Coby Bryant returned for a touchdown. Overall, Murray's 37 pass attempts were a season high, while his two rushes matched his second fewest in a game this season., and he also failed to throw a TD for the second time in three contests. He'll aim to bounce back next Sunday at Minnesota, whose pass defense ranks in the bottom five in the NFL.
Nov 10, 2024
Misses just two passes in big win
Murray completed 22 of 24 pass attempts for 266 yards and a touchdown while adding 21 rushing yards and two more scores on three carries in Sunday's 31-6 victory over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The dual-sport athlete nearly pitched a perfect game after missing just two pass attempts without turning the ball over while scoring three combined touchdowns in the blowout victory. It was good to see Murray bounce back from his worst fantasy game of the season against the Bears last week, to posting a gaudy stat line against the Jets on Sunday. With over 2,000 combined yards of offense and 16 total touchdowns through 10 games, both fantasy managers and the Cardinals should feel good about the QB they have in camp this season. Murray will now enter his bye week and resume action in a road matchup against the Seahawks on Nov. 24.
Nov 3, 2024
Meager output in comfortable win
Murray completed 13 of 20 passes for 154 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, rushed twice for six yards and lost a fumble during Sunday's 29-9 victory against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
For the first time this season, Murray didn't record a passing touchdown, and he lost a fumble for the third time in nine games. His pass attempts also marked a season low, which was a result of the Cardinals controlling the game on the ground to the tune of 34 carries for 213 yards and three TDs. James Conner (107) accounted for a majority share of the yards, but reserve RBs Emari Demercado and Trey Benson combined for 96 yards between them. As a result, the team wasn't reliant on Murray's arm to get by or play catch up. He may be forced to air it out more next Sunday versus the Jets.
Oct 27, 2024
Leads successful comeback
Murray completed 26 of 36 pass attempts for 307 yards and two touchdowns while rushing five times for 19 yards in Sunday's 28-27 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Murray helped erase a nine-point deficit on the road to lift the Cardinals back to .500 on the season. The dual-threat quarterback had his worst rushing totals of 2024, but he offset that for fantasy managers by eclipsing 300 passing yards for the first time through eight games. Murray has been a strong fantasy option when healthy over the course of his career, and he looks as healthy as ever heading into next Sunday's home tilt against the Bears.
Oct 22, 2024
Scores twice on MNF
Murray completed 14 of 26 pass attempts for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception while taking six carries for 54 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 17-15 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Murray was involved in both of Arizona's touchdowns Monday, the third time he has provided fantasy managers with multiple scores this season. The dual-threat quarterback finished off the Chargers by driving his team's offense into field-goal range for kicker Chad Ryland to knock in a chip shot for the win. Murray has been a steady asset through seven games in 2024, making him a safe option for Sunday's tilt against the Dolphins.
Oct 13, 2024
Held in check in loss
Murray completed 22 of 32 passes for 214 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and added seven carries for 14 yards in the Cardinals' 34-13 loss to the Packers on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Murray had a serviceable day through the air, especially considering he lost Marvin Harrison in the second quarter to a concussion. The star signal-caller kept his focus trained in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field for the most part in the absence of his No. 1 receiver, a development that benefited tight end Trey McBride (eight receptions, 96 yards) in particular. Murray's one touchdown pass went to Michael Wilson from 18 yards out late in the second quarter, while his fumble came deep in Arizona territory but did not result in any Packers points. Murray has now been at Sunday's yardage total or less in four consecutive games while throwing just a single touchdown in each of those contests as well, and he draws a tough Week 7 home assignment against the Chargers on Monday night, Oct. 21.
Oct 6, 2024
Two touchdowns in comback victory
Murray completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 195 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 83 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven attempts in Sunday's 24-23 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Murray ripped off a 50-yard touchdown run on Arizona's opening drive to boost fantasy manager's scores early in the contest. The dual-threat quarterback did not have a huge day passing the ball, finishing under 200 yards in that category for the third time this season. That said, Murray's combination of rushing and throwing stats together make him a solid fantasy option overall. Up next for the Cardinals is a road tilt against the Packers next Sunday,
Sep 29, 2024
Struggles in Week 4 loss
Murray completed 16 of 22 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-14 loss to the Commanders. He added one rushing attempt for three yards.
ANALYSIS
After capping the opening drive with a two-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison, Murray was surprisingly quiet the rest of the way as both a passer and a runner against a beatable Washington defense as the Cardinals felt the absence of starting tight end Trey McBride (concussion). Prior to Sunday's dud as a runner, Murray had at least 45 rushing yards in every game this season and had rushed for at least 20 yards in eight consecutive starts. Murray's averaging just 194.3 passing yards per game heading into a Week 5 road game against the 49ers, for which the Cardinals will be without McBride again unless he clears concussion protocol.
Sep 22, 2024
Can't lift Cards to win
Murray completed 21 of 34 passes for 207 yards with a touchdown and an interception and added five rushes for 45 yards in the Cardinals' 20-13 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Murray was unable to keep up with Jared Goff and his prolific ground attack, one that far outpaced a Cardinals one that saw the mobile signal-caller lead with 45 yards. Murray took only one sack but averaged a relatively modest 6.1 yards per attempt. After an early 10-yard touchdown toss to Marvin Harrison to knot the score at 7-7 with just over five minutes left in the first quarter, Murray frequently struggled to find a rhythm, only able to lead two other scoring drives that ended in Matt Prater field goals. Despite the disappointing home loss, Murray and his skill-position assets should have a good chance to bounce back in a Week 4 home matchup against the suspect Commanders defense.
Sep 15, 2024
Throws three TDs in win
Murray completed 17 of 21 pass attempts for 266 yards and three touchdowns while adding 59 rushing yards on five attempts in Sunday's 41-10 blowout win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Murray tore apart the Rams' secondary in Sunday's lopsided victory, missing just four pass attempts and committing no turnovers in the 26 plays he was credited for on offense. The 2019 first-overall pick has battled injuries over the past two seasons, but he is now playing with the confidence we saw from the star QB prior to breaking down physically. Murray is shaping up to be a great bounce-back candidate in 2024 with four touchdowns and a 73 percent completion rate through two games. A true barometer awaits for the 26-year-old in Week 3 when the Cardinals host a stingy Lions defense at State Farm Stadium on Sunday.
Sep 8, 2024
Poor passing numbers in Week 1 loss
Murray completed 21 of 31 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 34-28 loss to the Bills. He also rushed five times for 57 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Murray capped the opening drive with a five-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson and helped the Cardinals race out to a 17-3 lead, but Buffalo responded with 21 unanswered points, aided by a Murray fumble. Arizona's dual-threat quarterback then responded with a 29-yard run to set up a field goal on the next drive, but Murray and the Cardinals came up short on their last drive, turning the ball over on downs at Buffalo's 29-yard line in the final minute. Rookie fourth overall pick Marvin Harrison had just four yards in his NFL debut, so Murray will look to get the talented wide receiver more involved in Week 2 against the Rams.
Aug 17, 2024
Not in line to play
Murray is going through pregame warmups but isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game at Indianapolis, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Jonathan Gannon said two weeks ago that Murray won't play at all this preseason. The Cardinals gave some of their younger starters playing time in the preseason opener, including a brief appearance by WR Marvin Harrison, but they might have a different plan for Saturday night.
Aug 6, 2024
Won't see preseason action
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Tuesday that Murray won't suit up for any of Arizona's preseason contests, including Saturday's exhibition opener against the Saints, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray won't be risked for Arizona during any of the Cardinals preseason matchups, which sets the stage for Desmond Ridder and Clayton Tune to see plenty of reps. Now more than a year and a half removed from the torn right ACL that delayed his 2023 debut until Week 10, there's reason to be optimistic that Murray's rushing production is ready to bounce back to usual levels, and that the addition of rookie phenom Marvin Harrison could lead to a step forward in the passing game as well. Arizona also added veteran Zay Jones in Arizona, while TE Trey McBride and second-year wideout Michael Wilson return to an upgraded receiver corps. It won't be until the Cardinals' regular-season opener on the road against Buffalo, though, that we'll get to see Murray and his new supporting cast in action.
May 1, 2024
New target in form of Harrison
Murray will be throwing to a new No. 1 wide receiver in 2024 and beyond after the Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison, fourth overall, in this year's draft.
ANALYSIS
Murray's 2023 debut was delayed due to a torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered Dec. 12, 2022. Upon his return Week 10, he started the final eight games of the campaign, completing 176 of 268 passes (65.7 percent) for 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing 44 times for 244 yards and three more TDs. By the end of the season, second-year TE Trey McBride had transformed into Murray's favorite target, and after the offseason departure of Marquise Brown (Chiefs), the quarterback was in search of a dynamic weapon in the passing game. The arrival of Harrison provides just that for Murray, who also will have RB James Conner and WR Michael Wilson at his disposal.
Jan 7, 2024
Solid finish to rehab season
Murray completed 22 of 30 pass attempts for 262 yards and a touchdown while adding 33 rushing yards on five attempts in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Murray finished the 2023 season on a high note with a pair of outings reminiscent of his pre-injury days under center in Arizona. The 27-year-old didn't look like the dual-threat fantasy stud he once was upon returning from ACL surgery in Week 10. If Murray can produce numbers closer to his last three games this season (241.3 passing yards/game, 29.7 rushing and 6:1 TD:INT ratio) in 2024, then we could see a bounce-back season in store for the two-sport athlete.
Dec 31, 2023
Throws three TDs to upset PHI
Murray completed 25 of 31 pass attempts for 232 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while rushing five times for 24 yards in Sunday's 35-31 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Murray was an instrumental part of a second-half surge that brought the Cardinals back from a 21-6 halftime deficit to top the now 11-5 Eagles. The 2019 first-overall pick looked like his old self in the pocket after completing over 80 percent of his passes and scoring three touchdowns for the first time through seven games this season. Unfortunately, Murray's best passing performance this year was coupled with one of his more-casual rushing lines (5-24-0). Still, it was a masterful performance from Arizona's signal-caller in a tough road environment. Perhaps Murray's improved play coincides with his improved health following major offseason knee surgery.Whatever the case may be, Murray will carry a full head of steam in a Week 18 matchup against the Seahawks.
Dec 31, 2023
To play through illness Sunday
Murray (illness) is listed as active Sunday at Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday due to an illness, but he returned as a limited participant Friday before being deemed questionable for the Week 17 action. With his availability confirmed for Sunday's game, Murray is slated to throw to a receiving corps that will feature TE Trey McBride and WRs Michael Wilson, Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch, given that Marquise Brown (heel) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Dec 31, 2023
Likely to play in Week 17
Murray (illness) is in line to play in Sunday's game in Philadelphia, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray dealt with an illness during the entirety of Week 17 prep, capping him to one limited session Friday before the Cardinals deemed him questionable to play this weekend. His status will be clarified about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, and assuming he avoids being inactive, he'll continue to lead Arizona's offense. After his top wide receiver Marquise Brown (heel) was placed on IR on Friday, Murray's primary pass catchers will be TE Trey McBride and WRs Michael Wilson, Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch.
Dec 29, 2023
Listed as questionable
Murray (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to practice Friday as a limited participant after missing the previous two sessions. He'll now have another 45 hours or so to recover ahead of a 12:00 p.m. ET kickoff, with Clayton Tune on hand to fill in if Murray experiences a setback Saturday or Sunday morning. Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday morning that he expects Murray to play, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.
Dec 29, 2023
Returning to practice Friday
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday that Murray (illness) will practice and should be fine for Sunday's road matchup against the Eagles, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon also confirmed that top wideout Marquise Brown (heel) is done for the year and headed to IR, so Murray's receiving corps for the final two games of the season will be headlined by Michael Wilson, Rondale Moore, Greg Dortch and tight end Trey McBride. The quarterback missed Arizona's first two practices of the week, but the expectation that he will suit up versus the Eagles has remained consistent.
Dec 28, 2023
Officially DNP on Thursday
Murray (illness) officially didn't practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray wasn't seen at all during Wednesday's session, but he made an appearance in sweats on the side one day later, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. A "holiday bug" is the culprit, as coach Jonathan Gannon told Weinfuss on Wednesday, but there's an expectation that the quarterback will be able to suit up Sunday at Philadelphia. Ultimately, Murray's listing on Friday's injury report will clarify whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for that contest.
Dec 28, 2023
Present but not practicing Thursday
Murray (illness) was seen on the side at Thursday's practice but didn't appear to be participating, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday that Murray has what he termed a "holiday bug," which didn't allow him to take part in drills to begin the week. If Murray indeed goes down as a non-participant Thursday, he'll have just one more chance to get on the field in advance of Sunday's game at Philadelphia. For what it's worth, Gannon isn't concerned about Murray's availability for Week 17, per Weinfuss.
Dec 27, 2023
Ill but should play Week 17
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday that Murray won't practice due to an illness but that he isn't concerned about the quarterback's availability for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon implied that Murray will likely be back on the practice field Thursday, and that there are no real concerns of an extended absence due to the "holiday bug." Murray is coming off a solid performance despite a loss to Chicago, in which he threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns despite not having Marquise Brown (heel) to lean on. He added five carries for 32 yards.
Dec 24, 2023
Throws for two TDs in Week 16
Murray was 23-for-37 passing for 208 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions and also tallied five carries for 32 yards during Sunday's 27-16 loss at Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Aside from a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended in a Murray TD pass to RB James Conner late in the second quarter, eight of the Cardinals' first nine drives didn't net more than 30 yards of offense. His two passes through the air marked a season high for Murray, and his output on the ground nearly mimicked his weekly average (31 YPG) from his first five appearances of the season. He was operating without his No. 1 WR Marquise Brown (heel) in Week 16, so Murray's prospects could brighten if Brown is able to return Sunday, Dec. 31 in Philadelphia.
Dec 17, 2023
Mixed results bookend brief exit
Murray completed 26 of 39 pass attempts for 211 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while adding 49 rushing yards on six attempts in Sunday's 45-29 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed a brief period of action early in the contest after taking an elbow to the midsection, but he was cleared to return shortly thereafter, according to Cardinals' beat reporter Darren Urban. The results on the field were mixed for Arizona's starting QB, as he helped his team to an early lead over the favored 49ers before throwing a pick-six towards the end of the first quarter that shifted momentum back to the road team. In positive news, Murray's injury had nothing to do with the surgically-repaired knee that cost him the first nine games of the season. Given that fact -- in addition his speedy return Sunday -- we can expect Murray to be available for next Sunday's matchup against the Bears.
Dec 3, 2023
Manages Arizona to road win
Murray completed 13 of 23 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers. He added nine rushes for 20 yards.
ANALYSIS
The game took place in very rainy conditions and was unusually delayed twice as a result. Given that the Cardinals were also playing from ahead for much of the game, it comes as little surprise that Murray wasn't asked to carry the team to victory. Even so, he did what was required by not turning the ball over for the second consecutive contest while also managing his sixth total touchdown of the season on a five-yard completion to Trey McBride just before halftime. Following Arizona's Week 14 bye, Murray will face a stiff test against the 49ers' defense.
Nov 26, 2023
Two total touchdowns in loss
Murray completed 27 of 45 passes for 256 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and added a two-yard score on his only rush in the Cardinals' 37-14 loss to the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Murray's final stat line was perfectly serviceable from a fantasy perspective, but as the final score indicates, it didn't translate the same way on the field. Murray was able to pad his numbers some late with a 10-play, 75-yard scoring after the game was already decided, but he did manage to record both a passing and rushing touchdown for the 18th time in his career. Murray has thrown for over 200 yards in each of his first three games of the season, but his almost complete lack of rushing yardage Sunday dragged down his overall fantasy ceiling for the afternoon. Murray and the Cardinals will look to regroup in a Week 13 road matchup against the Steelers.
Nov 19, 2023
Solid showing in Week 11 loss
Murray completed 20 of 30 passes for 214 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed seven times for 51 yards and a score in the Cardinals' 21-16 loss to the Texans. He also committed a fumble recovered by Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Murray's numbers through the air were about average in his second game of the season, but the pair of touchdowns he had a hand in helped him to a solid fantasy day overall. Murray first struck through the air via a 48-yard touchdown pass to Rondale Moore to cap off a quick three-play opening drive for Arizona, and he then added a one-yard rushing score of his own for the final points of the day for either squad. Murray connected with eight different targets overall against a tough Texans defense, and he'll draw what could be a more palatable matchup at home against the division-rival Rams in Week 12.
Nov 12, 2023
Passes test in season debut
Murray completed 19 of 32 passes for 249 yards, no touchdowns and one interception and also had six carries for 33 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 25-23 win against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
In his first game action in exactly 11 months, Murray looked like his normal dynamic self, especially on back-to-back scrambles late in the first half that culminated with a six-yard TD run. He also displayed an impressive rapport with second-year tight end Trey McBride, who hauled in eight of nine targets for 131 yards. Now that he's proved the health of his right knee following last season's ACL tear, Murray will set his sights on next Sunday's road matchup with a Texans defense that has given up the eighth-highest yards per attempt (7.5) to opposing quarterbacks in the current campaign.
Nov 10, 2023
Confirmed as Week 10 starter
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday that Murray will start Sunday's game against the Falcons, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals have delayed Murray's return for a couple weeks now but will put him back under center after a disastrous outing from rookie QB Clayton Tune in the Week 9 loss to Cleveland. While it's unclear if he'll initially be as much of a rushing threat as he was in past seasons, Murray at least figures to help the Arizona passing game and offers hope for any fantasy managers counting on WR Marquise Brown or TE Trey McBride. The return to action for Murray comes exactly 11 months after he suffered an ACL tear Dec. 12 last year.
Nov 8, 2023
Avoids injury report
Murray (knee) isn't listed on the Cardinals' first Week 10 injury report Wednesday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As he was on four of the team's previous six practice reports, Murray wasn't included among his injured teammates. And on the other two, he was listed as a full participant to begin prep for both Weeks 8 and 9. The Cardinals officially activated Murray from the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, and his listing one day later indicates he's just about in the clear to play for the first time since tearing the ACL in his right knee Dec. 12 of last season. How Arizona lists him Friday, if at all, could be the final indicator that he'll be available Sunday against the Falcons.
Nov 7, 2023
Back on active roster
The Cardinals activated Murray (knee) from the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray thus is one step closer as he seeks to return from the torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered Dec. 12 of last season. In the past two weeks, he was considered doubtful to play Week 8 and questionable to suit up Week 9, but on both occasions, Arizona didn't activate him. He was listed as a full participant on the first injury reports of both weeks before being removed entirely thereafter, so it'll be interesting to see his activity level once the Cardinals take the field Wednesday. In the end, Murray seems as if he'll be available Sunday against the Falcons.
Nov 6, 2023
On track for Week 10 start
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Murray (knee) will start Sunday's game against the Falcons if the quarterback fares well while taking first-team reps in practice this week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gannon added that the Cardinals will formally add Murray back to the 53-man roster Wednesday, when his 21-day evaluation window for a return from the PUP list will come to a close. He'll then step back on the practice field later that day, working with the first-team offense after he had previously been throwing passes to members of the practice squad for most of the past two weeks. Expect Gannon to announce an official decision on a Week 10 starter following Friday's practice, but Murray hasn't hit any snags in his recovery from a torn ACL since he resumed working out with Arizona and should be ready to hit the ground running this weekend. Given that Murray will be returning from major knee surgery, however, it's possible that the Cardinals exercise some caution with the dual-threat quarterback's workload on the ground compared to previous seasons.
Nov 4, 2023
Won't be activated Saturday
Murray (knee) won't be activated off the PUP list ahead of Saturday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, meaning Clayton Tune will start Sunday against the Browns, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
As a result, Murray will need to be activated next week in order to clear his 21-day activation window. Fantasy managers thus could plan for the Pro Bowl quarterback to possibly make his return ahead of the Week 10 matchup against the Falcons, but at least for this upcoming Sunday, expect the rookie Tune to make his first official start of his career against the vaunted Browns defense.
Nov 3, 2023
Officially questionable for Sunday
Murray (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been practicing for two weeks since the Cardinals designated him for return from the reserve/PUP list, but Friday marked the first time he threw passes to players that aren't on the practice squad, according to Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com. With multiple full sessions under Murray's belt, it's now on Arizona's decision makers to make a call on the quarterback's first game action since Dec. 12 of last season. On Friday, coach Jonathan Gannon told Darren Urban of the team's official site that a decision will be made in the next 24 hours, which lines up with the Saturday afternoon deadline in which to activate Murray. GM Monti Ossenfort also relayed to Wolf and Luke on Arizona Sports that "all options are on the table" regarding who will be under center for the Cards on Sunday. If Murray doesn't get the nod, rookie firth-round pick Clayton Tune will get his first career start, with practice-squad member Jeff Driskel likely backing him up.
Nov 2, 2023
Not listed on injury report
Murray (knee) was removed from the Cardinals' injury report Thursday but remains on the reserve/PUP list, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Like he did one week ago, Murray followed up a full practice Wednesday with no listing one day later. Last week, though, he ended up being doubtful to play this past Sunday against the Ravens, and the Cardinals didn't activate him ahead of that contest. It remains to be seen how Arizona lists Murray on its final Week 9 injury report Friday, but it could be telling for his chances to make his season debut Sunday at Cleveland. He's firmly in the mix to do so after the team dealt Joshua Dobbs to the Vikings on Tuesday, but fifth-round rookie Clayton Tune has been getting the first-team reps this week, while Murray again is throwing passes to members of the practice squad. Ultimately, the Cards will need to activate him from the reserve/PUP list by Saturday afternoon in order for him to have a chance to play Sunday.
Nov 1, 2023
Another full practice Wednesday
Murray (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
For a second consecutive week, Murray doesn't have any practice limitations, but his on-field work continues to occur solely with members of the Cardinals' practice squad, per Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com. Meanwhile, rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune took snaps from starting center Hjalte Froholdt, and practice-squad QB Jeff Driskel also threw passes to players on the team's active roster. There's a chance Murray progresses enough to prove to Arizona's coaches, trainers and medical personnel that he's good to go for Sunday's game at Cleveland. Coach Jonathan Gannon even told Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com on Wednesday that Murray is "fired up" and "ready to go." Still, Tune appears to be getting the reps consistent with who will get the start this weekend, leaving Murray somewhat behind the eight ball.

Chance to start Sunday
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that Murray (knee) or Clayton Tune will be the Cardinals' starting quarterback for Sunday's game at Cleveland, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens, Gannon relayed to Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com that Joshua Dobbs would remain the team's starter Week 9. However, after watching video of that game, Gannon is making the switch to one of Arizona's other two QBs, per Urban. Murray is in the final stages of his recovery from last season's torn ACL and even was removed from the Cardinals' injury report last Thursday, so how he fares in practice Wednesday through Friday likely will be the determining factor for his chances to make his season debut Sunday.
Oct 29, 2023
Won't start before Week 10
Murray (knee) won't start in Week 9 against the Browns, and coach Jonathan Gannon said "we'll see" after Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens when asked if Murray would start in Week 10 against the Falcons, Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to practice and had his 21-day window to rejoin the active roster opened ahead of the loss to the Ravens, but he remains on the PUP list. Gannon has named Joshua Dobbs the starter for Week 9, and while it's possible that the Cardinals will activate Murray as the backup against the Browns, such a scenario is unlikely. Arizona has little incentive to rush the starting quarterback's return considering the Cardinals are now 1-7 after Sunday's loss.
Oct 28, 2023
Predictably wasn't activated
Murray (knee) was not activated for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This should be zero surprise to fantasy managers given Murray was listed as doubtful on Friday's final injury report. That the electric signal caller was able to practice all week suggests the Cardinals are simply picking the best spot to activate Murray, with a matchup against a tough Ravens defense clearly seeming less than ideal to the organization. As a result, Joshua Dobbs is set to get what appears to be one final start before the inevitable return of Murray.
Oct 27, 2023
Listed as doubtful on final report
Murray (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Baltimore, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals are no longer listing him with a knee injury but nonetheless consider Murray doubtful for Sunday's game. It presumably means they want to wait another week or two before reintroducing the 2019 first overall pick, thus giving Joshua Dobbs another shot to start at QB for a struggling offense. Murray was a full participant in practice throughout the week, working with the scout team during the media-access portions of practices.
Oct 27, 2023
Uncertain for Sunday?
Coach Jonathan Gannon said "we'll see" when a reporter asked him Friday if Murray (knee) would be active for Sunday's game against Baltimore, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray remains on the PUP list but was removed from the injury report Thursday, with Gannon saying Friday that the quarterback is considered fully healthy. The Cardinals presumably already know whether Murray or Joshua Dobbs will start this Sunday, and there's a good chance the information comes out before kickoff even if the team tries to guard it. They'll need to move Murray to the active roster by Saturday evening if they want him eligible for Sunday's game -- be it as the starting QB or merely as Dobbs' backup.
Oct 26, 2023
Gets removed from injury report
Murray (knee) isn't listed on Thursday's injury report but remains on the reserve/PUP list, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been practicing for a little more than one week, but after logging a full session Wednesday, he now isn't being limited by the torn ACL that he suffered in his right knee Dec. 12 of last season. That's not to say the Cardinals will activate him from the PUP list ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, especially because his current on-field work is happening with wide receivers and tight ends on the team's practice squad, per GoPHNX.com. Still, Arizona has until Saturday afternoon to make a decision on Murray's availability for Week 8. If Murray doesn't return Sunday, Joshua Dobbs will remain the team's starting quarterback.
Oct 25, 2023
Gets back to full participation
Murray (knee) practiced fully Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is in the second full week of his 21-day window in which to be activated from the reserve/PUP list. Last week, he operated with a cap on his reps Wednesday through Friday, but those limitations appear to be in the rearview mirror as the Cardinals begin Week 8 prep. Coach Jonathan Gannon has been coy about when Murray may make his season debut, but if he continues to put together uninhibited practices this week, there's a chance he'll be available Sunday against the Ravens. Arizona has until Saturday afternoon to activate Murray for Week 8 action.
Oct 22, 2023
Took first-team reps this week
Murray (knee) may not be reinstated from the PUP list until the Cardinals' Week 10 game against the Falcons, but he took frst-team reps during practice this week, and the Cardinals plan to build around him, Jay Glazer reported on "Fox NFL Sunday."
ANALYSIS
Glazer's report doesn't necessarily dispel the notion that the Cardinals might draft one of the elite quarterbacks in next year's draft. If they were to do so, the Cardinals would still want to have as much trade leverage as possible either with Murray or the putative pick. Still, Glazer's report further backs up ones from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN from earlier Sunday indicating that Murray will play at some point this season, even though doing so would expose the Cardinals to some financial risk. Murray's $29.9 million salary for 2025 would become fully guaranteed if he can't pass a physical by March 2024 due to his surgically repaired right knee or because of another injury.
Oct 22, 2023
Trending toward Week 10 debut
The Cardinals plan to take multiple weeks to evaluate Murray (knee) in practice, with the team's Nov. 12 matchup with the Falcons in Week 10 considered the likeliest game for the quarterback to make his 2023 debut, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Arizona opened Murray's 21-day practice evaluation window this past Wednesday, marking the first step toward the signal-caller's return to game action following his Jan. 3 surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. Though Murray reportedly fared well during his trio of limited practices this week, he wasn't activated from the PUP list ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, and he looks like he could miss another two contests beyond that while Arizona aims to ensure that he's physically and mentally ready to play. The Cardinals already seem to be discounting the possibility of Murray returning to action Week 8 against the Ravens, as Rapoport relays that the 26-year-old won't be available until at least the team's Week 9 game in Cleveland on Nov. 5 if "all goes perfectly well on the field and off it." Joshua Dobbs will continue to direct the offense for whatever length of time Murray misses, but despite the 1-5 Cardinals' status as a non-contender, the team isn't entertaining the idea of keeping Murr
Oct 20, 2023
Won't play yet
Murray (knee), a limited practice participant throughout the week, has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Seattle, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Jonathan Gannon already told reporters that Joshua Dobbs would get at least one more start, even though Murray took some of the first-team reps in practice this week, per Weinfuss. The QB's return to practice Wednesday started a 21-day window in which he can be activated to the roster before defaulting back to injured reserve for the rest of the season, and the Cardinals haven't ruled out the possibility of Murray starting Week 8 against the Ravens or Week 9 at the Browns.
Oct 18, 2023
Officially limited Wednesday
Murray (knee) officially was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In his first on-field work since tearing the ACL in his right knee Dec. 12 of last season, Murray unsurprisingly had a cap on his reps after the Cardinals designated for return from injured reserve. The team will have a 21-day window in which to evaluate the quarterback and determine when he's healthy enough for game action. He's technically an option to come off IR as soon as Sunday's contest at Seattle, but Arizona intends to ramp up his activity level slowly considering the severity of last year's injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. As long as Murray remains unavailable to play, the Cards will entrust the offense in signal-caller Joshua Dobbs.
Oct 18, 2023
Practice window opens
The Cardinals announced Wednesday that Murray (knee) has been activated to return from the reserve/PUP list, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray's 21-day practice window thus opens, giving Arizona some time to monitor the quarterback's health while handling some on-field work before fully adding him to the active roster. The 26-year-old is working his way back from a right ACL tear, so while the Cardinals could activate him to suit up as early as Sunday versus Seattle, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the current plan is to allow him plenty of time to ramp up his activity. Joshua Dobbs will continue to hold down the fort at quarterback until Murray is fully cleared to retake the field.
Sep 30, 2023
Likely weeks away
Murray (knee) is not expected to return off the PUP list next week when eligible and is still considered "weeks away from playing," Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
This isn't that much of a surprise given head coach Jonathan Gannon in his comments earlier this week didn't seem too confident Murray would come off the PUP list relatively soon, but this is the first time there's been specific language suggesting the 26-year-old wouldn't be returning anytime soon. While the Cardinals organization has yet to specify a timeframe, it's been assumed that the Pro Bowler could be back by midseason. Expect more information to emerge once Murray is officially eligible to participate in practice.
Sep 22, 2023
Unlikely to debut Week 5
Murray (knee) is expected to play this season, but it probably won't be Week 5 when he's first eligible to return from the PUP list, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
"[Murray]'s doing well," coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday. "We know the timetable of when he can return to play, but that doesn't mean he will return to play and open his window then." The Cardinals coach didn't make any guesses about when Murray will be ready, merely noting that the plan will be "adaptable" and the quarterback will have a say in the process. Gannon added that he's "not in a hurry" even though Murray is "itching to be back" on the field.
Aug 28, 2023
Will start season on PUP list
The Cardinals don't plan to activate Murray (knee) from the active/PUP list to begin the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will officially switch to the reserve/PUP list at Tuesday's 4 pm ET deadline, with Arizona having decided not to activate him before then. Any player who begins the 2023 regular season on the reserve/PUP list must miss at least the first four games, meaning Murray won't be eligible to practice or play until Week 5 versus the Bengals, at the earliest. The decision isn't surprising , given that Murray has yet to retake the practice field since suffering a torn right ACL Dec. 12 of last season. Meanwhile, coach Jonathan Gannon has yet to name a starter for Week 1's game against the Commanders. With Colt McCoy's release, recent trade acquisition Joshua Dobbs is likely the favorite to open the regular season under center, though rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune has been heavily involved in preseason work.
Aug 26, 2023
Still no timetable for return
Murray (knee) remains on the active/PUP list after the Cardinals wrapped up their preseason slate Saturday and doesn't have a timeline to return, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On Thursday, Arizona acquired Joshua Dobbs from Cleveland, adding him to a quarterback room that includes healthy options in veteran Colt McCoy, rookie Clayton Tune and journeyman David Blough. After Saturday's preseason win at Minnesota, coach Jonathan Gannon didn't name a starting QB for Week 1, according to Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic. Murray isn't considered to be in the mix for that role due to his recovery from a torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered Dec. 12 of last season, primarily because he has yet to sniff the practice field. Assuming Murray is moved to the reserve/PUP list after cut-down day Tuesday, there will be clarity on his situation: he'll be required to miss at least the first games of the campaign. But who among McCoy, Dobbs and Tune will be stepping in for Murray remains to be seen.
Jul 29, 2023
No timeline on return
Murray said Saturday that he will take a day-by-day approach to his return from knee surgery and that he "wouldn't want to go out and hurt the team or myself" during training camp, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is still recovering from a right ACL tear suffered Dec. 12, and he previously stated July 12 that his goal was to be ready to play in time for Week 1. However, his response to reporters Saturday heavily indicates that he will be rather cautious when it comes to his participation in training camp, which could make it difficult to gauge when he'll be ready to suit up again until sometime closer to the start of the regular season. The 25-year-old is eligible to practice and play in the preseason at any point after being placed on the active/PUP. In case Murray's recovery does extend beyond the start of the regular season, it could be worth monitoring how the Cardinals split practice reps and playing time between backup quarterbacks Colt McCoy, Clayton Tune, David Blough and Jeff Driskel this preseason.
Jul 26, 2023
Starting camp on PUP list
Murray (knee - ACL) is being placed on the active/PUP list to start training camp Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals continue to exercise caution with Murray, who hasn't yet participated in offseason practices while working his way back from surgery to address a right ACL tear suffered Dec. 12. As such, the soon-to-be 26-year-old's placement on the PUP list is less than surprising. Veteran stalwart Colt McCoy remains present as perhaps Arizona's likeliest option to start Week 1 under center, though Murray has expressed optimism about his chances of being available early in the regular season. Murray's placement on the PUP list means he will be eligible to practice and play in the preseason at any point, once healthy enough to do so.
Jul 12, 2023
Aiming for Week 1 return
Murray (knee) said his "goal" is to be ready for Week 1, Arizona Sports' Tyler Drake reports.
ANALYSIS
"Ideally, I want to be back by Week 1," Murray said. "That's the goal. At the end of the day, that's the goal, but I can't really look that far ahead. Got to take it one day at a time." Murray tore his ACL on December 12 of last season and underwent surgery less than a month later. He didn't participate in spring drills last month, and every indication out of Arizona has been that the Cardinals will be cautious with Murray and not rush his return to the field. Drake wrote that a Week 1 return "seems like a stretch." Colt McCoy remains the odds-on favorite to be under center for Arizona in the season opener.
Apr 7, 2023
Resumes working out
Murray (knee) did squats Friday, 13 weeks removed from surgery on an ACL tear, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While he still has a ways to go before he can sprint or do agility work, Murray is showing tangible signs of progress as rumors swirl around the league about what the Cardinals will do with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft. They're widely expected to stick by Murray as the franchise QB, which means they can trade back and accrue more picks or have their choice at No. 3 of any non-quarterback in the draft (assuming the first two picks are signal-callers). The timing and severity of Murray's injury has led many to suggest he could miss the start of the season -- including team owner Michael Bidwell -- but new head coach Jonathan Gannon hasn't quite gone that far, instead merely saying he'll be cautious even if the 25-year-old is eager to get back on the field, per Johnny Venerable of PHNX Cardinals.
Feb 23, 2023
Return date TBD
Cardinals team owner Michael Bidwill thinks that Murray, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL in his right knee, is ahead of schedule in his recovery, Darren Urban of azcardinals.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that Murray suffered his knee injury on Dec. 12 last year and then underwent surgery on Jan. 3, the QB's early-season status for the 2023 NFL campaign remains cloudy. With that in mind, Bidwill suggested that the return of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft "is going to be earlier than this midseason, so hopefully it's toward the beginning of the season," while noting that he doesn't "want to put any specific dates" on a timetable for Arizona's franchise signal caller. With Murray's top backup Colt McCoy dealing with an undisclosed injury that will limit him this offseason, the Cardinals could look to add QB depth as on-field activities approach. In any case, it appears as though the team (now coached by Jonathan Gannon) is proceeding as though Murray won't be ready for game action in time for Week 1.
Jan 29, 2023
Not expected to be ready for Week 1
Murray, who suffered a torn ACL and meniscus this past December, is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2023 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
At this stage, a precise timetable for the QB's return to action remains unclear, but Rapoport relays that it's his understanding Murray "is not going to rush, so do not be surprised if we don't see him to start the season or maybe even by the midway point. This injury has to heal perfectly." Either way, once he re-takes the field, Murray will be working under a new (yet to be determined) head coach, with Kliff Kingsbury having been let go by the Cardinals earlier this month. Meanwhile, veteran signal-caller Colt McCoy is under contract with the team through 2023, but it's possible that Arizona could add another quarterback to the mix this offseason, given Murray's situation.
Jan 4, 2023
Unlikely to be ready for Week 1
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Hopkins (knee) "probably" won't be ready for Week 1 of 2023, ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss reports.
ANALYSIS
Kingsbury mentioned Murray on Friday when explaining his decision to hold Colt McCoy (concussion) out from the Week 18 contest and start David Blough. It's not clear Kingsbury will still be the team's coach beyond January, but he did say he's been in contact with Murray, who had successful surgery Tuesday to address an ACL tear and meniscus injury. The 25-year-old could be looking at a slightly longer timeline than the norm for QBs returning from ACL tears, as most of the guys that made it back for Week 1 after late-season injuries suffered clean tears without additional damage like Murray's meniscus. That said, it's still early in the process -- too early to rule out Murray for Week 1 of 2023.
Jan 4, 2023
Has knee surgery
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray underwent knee surgery Tuesday on the injury that ended his 2022 season on Dec. 12, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The procedure included an ACL reconstruction and a meniscus repair on Murray's right knee and not his left one, per Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com. Murray thus will be focusing on rehab in the offseason and is a prime candidate to begin training camp on the active/PUP list, which would give the Cardinals time to determine if he'll be ready for Week 1 of next season. With just one game remaining in the current campaign, the team has shut down veteran quarterback Colt McCoy (concussion), allowing David Blough to lead the offense and Trace McSorley to be the backup.
Dec 18, 2022
Could recover in 6-to-8 months
Murray is believed to have suffered a "clean" ACL tear in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Patriots and is scheduled to undergo surgery along with another procedure to stitch up the meniscus in his left knee at some point between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Rapoport, Murray will "pre-hab" for two or three weeks before surgery, with the decision to delay the procedure expected to provide ample time for the swelling in his knee to dissipate while enabling the quarterback to maintain as much flexibility as possible. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that once he has the surgery, Murray will require an estimated 6-to-8 months of recovery time. If that timeline holds, Murray should be on track to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, though he could be limited at the start of training camp and may not be available for preseason action. In the meantime, the Cardinals plan to have veteran Colt McCoy start the remaining four games of the current season, beginning with Sunday's matchup with the Broncos.
Dec 15, 2022
Planning for post-holiday surgery
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Murray is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery to repair the torn ACL in his left knee at some point after Christmas, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Murray's managers in dynasty or keeper leagues would probably prefer that he have his procedure as soon as possible to increase his odds of being ready to go for the start of the 2023 season, Kingsbury suggested that delaying the surgery until after the holiday won't necessarily prevent the quarterback from being ready to go for Week 1. Kingsbury said that he "wouldn't put anything past" Murray, including making a return to 100 percent health from the surgery after eight months of rehab and recovery. Even if Murray were to receive full medical clearance eight months post-surgery, he'll still miss training camp and a portion of the Cardinals' preseason slate. As for the current season, the 4-9 Cardinals plan to have Colt McCoy start the final four games as the team plays out the string.
Dec 14, 2022
Goes on IR
Arizona placed Murray (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The transaction was merely a procedural move after Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed Tuesday that Murray suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Patriots. Murray is likely to undergo surgery at some point in the upcoming days, and given the recovery timeline typically associated with the procedure, he may not receive full medical clearance ahead of Week 1 of the 2023 season. More updates on where Murray stands in his recovery should come once he's at least a few months removed from the procedure, but the Cardinals are likely to turn to Colt McCoy to start the final four games of the 2022 campaign.
Dec 13, 2022
ACL tear confirmed
Murray was diagnosed Tuesday with a season-ending torn ACL after suffering the left knee injury during ACL during Monday's 27-13 loss to New England, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray tried to scramble on the third play of Monday's game and fell to the turf while attempting to cut. The non-contact injury immediately sparked speculation that the quarterback tore his ACL, which has been confirmed through his MRI. He was carted to the locker room and replaced by Colt McCoy, who played admirably until a game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter. Murray will now turn his sights on rehabbing ahead of 2023 campaign, while McCoy looks poised to start Arizona's final four games of the season. The 2019 No. 1 overall pick will finish his fourth NFL campaign with 2,368 passing yards (66 percent completion), 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran 67 times for 418 yards and three additional scores.
Dec 13, 2022
Likely suffered significant injury
Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury said that Murray's left knee injury "doesn't look good" following Monday's 27-13 loss to the Patriots, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kingsbury added that he'd never seen Murray in as bad of shape as he was after Monday's loss, according to Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com. Kingsbury did not provide additional details about the status of Murray's knee other than saying that the team would "know more in the morning," per Urban. The star quarterback is already scheduled to undergo an MRI, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, though it appears this examination will likely confirm a season-ending injury for Murray. Even if the worst-possible outcome is avoided, the Cardinals may take a precautious approach after falling to 4-9 on the season, effectively eliminating the team from the 2022 playoffs. If so, expect veteran Colt McCoy to take over under center for the final four games of the regular season.
Dec 12, 2022
Downgraded to out
Murray (knee) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Murray was originally deemed questionable, but it was already a foregone conclusion that he would miss the rest of Monday's game. He was crying on the cart after suffering the non-contact knee injury, realizing that a season-ending injury is the likeliest outcome at this point. Colt McCoy replaced Murray under center Monday. Murray is set for an MRI and additional testing to determine the exact nature of the injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Dec 12, 2022
Suffers non-contact injury on MNF
Murray (knee) is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
While scrambling on the third play of the game, Murray suffered a non-contact injury, per James Palmer of NFL Network. The injury's non-contact nature immediately conjures fear of a season-ending torn ACL. It also looked similar to the one that Zach Wilson suffered in preseason, and Wilson ended up missing "only" six weeks with a meniscus tear and bone bruise. A clearer picture of Murray's recovery timetable will surface after further testing, but he's almost certainly done for the game after being carted off the field.
Nov 27, 2022
Three total scores in loss
Murray completed 18 of 29 passes for 191 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Chargers. He added seven rushes for 56 yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned from a two-game absence and had both Marquise Brown and DeAndre Hopkins on the field for the first time this season. Even so, he wasn't all that efficient as a passer by averaging only 6.6 yards per attempt. He offset that mark with passing scores of 33 and six yards, his third consecutive game with multiple touchdowns through the air. Significantly, Murray was also active on the ground -- he chipped in a five-yard rushing score -- despite his recent recovery from a hamstring injury. The Cardinals will immediately head into their Week 13 bye, but this performance may be an indication that Murray is in for a strong close to the campaign.
Nov 25, 2022
Returning to action
Murray (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Full practice participation Wednesday through Friday removed most doubt, and coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed Friday that the Cardinals believe Murray to be 100 percent healthy, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. While there's always risk of an in-game setback with hamstring injuries, it doesn't sound like Murray will have any limitations this weekend against a less-than-stellar Chargers defense that's been about average at stopping the pass and something less than that versus the run.
Nov 23, 2022
Listed as full Wednesday
Murray (hamstring) was listed as a full participant at Wednesday's walkthrough, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
All signs are pointing in the right direction for Murray putting an end to a two-game absence Sunday against the Chargers. First, coach Kliff Kingsbury met with the media Wednesday, telling Urban that Murray is "definitely trending in the right direction." Murray was asked about his availability for Week 12 a short time later, relaying to Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com that he believes he'll return. With the release of Arizona's first injury report of the week and his subsequent listing as full, Murray seem poised to be back under center for the Cards, replacing Colt McCoy.
Nov 22, 2022
Making progress, per Kingsbury
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday that Murray has made "quite a bit" of progress with his hamstring injury, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is on the heels of back-to-back absences due to the health concern, and even though he again was questionable ahead of Monday's game against the 49ers, he apparently wasn't an option to suit up, per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. Kingsbury reiterated as much Tuesday, saying the Cardinals want Murray to be "full throttle" before clearing him to return. The team's next game arrives Sunday versus the Chargers, which is followed by a Week 13 bye. If Murray ends up sitting out this weekend, he won't have a chance to play again until Monday, Dec. 12 against the Patriots, at the earliest, leaving backup Colt McCoy another start under center.
Nov 21, 2022
Another absence in Week 11
Murray (hamstring) is inactive for Monday's game versus the 49ers in Mexico City, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been tending to a hamstring injury for two weeks running, which has capped his reps in the five sessions in which he was able to participate. While the Cardinals considered him a game-time decision ahead of the last two contests, he had less than a 50/50 chance to play both times and ended up among the team's inactives. Murray again will hand over the offense to backup quarterback Colt McCoy, who dealt with a knee issue during Week 11 prep. However, with back-to-back full practices behind him, McCoy will look to continue his decent work from a Week 10 win at the Rams (238 yards and one touchdown on 70.3 percent passing).
Nov 21, 2022
Looks to be trending toward absence
Murray (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the 49ers in Mexico City, appears unlikely to be available to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out last week's win over the Rams with the hamstring injury, Murray took part in practices Thursday through Saturday, though merely as a limited participant. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that Murray was likely trending toward a game-time call Monday, but as the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff approaches, the quarterback doesn't look as though he's made enough progress in his recovery to be available. Colt McCoy is thus trending toward another start, with Trace McSorley likely to step in as his backup. Official word on Murray's status will come when Arizona releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
Nov 19, 2022
Officially questionable for Monday
Murray (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the 49ers, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury hinted Murray would be a game-time decision earlier this week and the team's final injury report seems to follow that cadence. Backup quarterback Colt McCoy does not carry an injury designation into the pivotal divisional matchup, so it'll be interesting to see how the Cardinals choose to operate. It's unclear if the Mexico City location for Monday's prime-time game plays a part in the equation, but either way expect more information prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET start time.
Nov 18, 2022
Headed for game-time decision
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that he expects Murray (hamstring) to be a game-time decision Monday against the 49ers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was considered a game-time decision last week after a pair of limited practices and didn't end up playing in a win over the Rams. He'll presumably have a better chance this time around, though he remains limited in practice and was seen Friday working with the training staff to test the injured hamstring. The Cardinals will release their final injury report Saturday.
Nov 17, 2022
Officially limited Thursday
Murray (hamstring) was limited at Thursday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for backup quarterback Colt McCoy (knee), who filled in for Murray this past Sunday at the Rams. Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that he wouldn't be ready to make a decision on the Week 11 starter against the 49ers until later this week, but neither player appears to be ahead of the other at the moment. How the pair fares in practice Friday and Saturday likely will be the determining factor for Murray to keep his absence to just one game.
Nov 16, 2022
Decision on starting QB to come
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that he'll make a decision on the Cardinals' starting quarterback between Murray (hamstring) and Colt McCoy (knee) for Monday's game against the 49ers later this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray already has been termed day-to-day by Kingsbury, who also relayed Monday that McCoy is tending to a minor knee issue. With the health of both quarterbacks up in the air, the statuses of both at practice Thursday through Saturday could be telling for who among the two will get the nod for Arizona in Week 11. McCoy filled in for an absent Murray this past Sunday at the Rams, leading the Cards to a much-needed fourth win of the season. Still, when both players are 100 percent, Murray is the clear-cut option to direct the offense.
Nov 14, 2022
Remains day-to-day
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that Murray (hamstring) remains day-to-day, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday due to a hamstring injury, Murray logged back-to-back limited sessions to end Week 10 prep, but he was still sidelined for Sunday's matchup. Colt McCoy drew the start in Murray's absence and was efficient while leading Arizona to a divisional win. Murray's status for Monday's matchup against San Francisco will likely become clearer when Arizona releases its initial Week 11 injury report.
Nov 13, 2022
Sitting out in Week 10
Murray (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game at the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Murray showed up on the Cardinals' initial Week 10 practice report as a non-participant due to a hamstring injury. After managing back-to-back limited sessions to cap the week, he was listed as questionable, and coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that Murray's availability would come down to a game-time decision. A pregame warmup ultimately determined Murray's fate, and he'll take a seat with an eye on returning Week 11 for a Monday night matchup with the 49ers on Nov. 21. Murray will cede quarterback duties Sunday to Colt McCoy, while Trace McSorley serves as the backup.
Nov 13, 2022
Not expected to play, will be GTD
Murray (hamstring) is not expected to suit up versus the Rams on Sunday, but the Cardinals won't make a final decision on his status until after evaluating him in pre-game warmups, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray remains a true game-time decision, so the final word on his status may not arrive until closer to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, which limits the potential pivot options of fantasy managers. In addition to Murray reportedly not being expected to play Sunday, it's possible that the hamstring injury which limited him in practice Thursday and Friday could significantly hamper his mobility versus Los Angeles' stout defensive front. Colt McCoy will take over as Arizona's starting quarterback Week 10 if Murray can't go.
Nov 12, 2022
Week 10 status TBD
The Cardinals aren't expected to decide whether Murray (hamstring) will start Sunday against the Rams until he's evaluated in pre-game warmups, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The report indicates that the decision will be based on how well the QB is able to move, with Schefter's source noting that Murray "needs to be able to open up and run before the game to get the green light." If Murray isn't able to play, Colt McCoy would be in line to start in his place. In any case, final confirmation of Murray's Week 10 status will arrive once the Cardinals' inactives are posted ahead of the team's 4:25 ET kickoff, though added context regarding his availability could surface in advance of the first wave of kickoffs Sunday.
Nov 12, 2022
Could miss Week 10
Murray (hamstring), officially listed as questionable, is not expected to play Sunday against the Rams, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fowler's report cites a source that "expressed skepticism" that Murray would play based on the progress he's made in his recovery. However, his official status will remain undecided until pre-game warmups. As could be expected based on the nature of his injury, Murray's status will come down to how well he can move, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. If he is unable to suit up, Colt McCoy would take over as the starting quarterback.
Nov 11, 2022
Listed as questionable
Murray (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This was the inevitable designation once Kliff Kingsbury referred to the quarterback as a game-time decision in his Friday meeting with reporters. Murray was a limited practice participant Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday, so his mobility may be limited even if he suits up. The Rams and Cardinals are schedule for a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, with Colt McCoy next up at QB if Murray is named on the inactive list 90 minutes before game time.
Nov 11, 2022
Viewed as game-time call
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Rams, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arizona has yet to release its final Week 10 injury report, but Murray will presumably be listed as questionable after sitting out Wednesday's walk-through session before returning to the field Thursday as a limited participant. According to Drake, Murray was also on the field for the open portion of Friday's session, but he'll most likely take part in a limited capacity once again as he looks to limit the strain on his injured hamstring. The fact that Murray was able to practice in any fashion two days in a row bodes well for his chances of suiting up this weekend, but the hamstring issue may result in him being less active as a runner, coming off a Week 9 loss to the Seahawks in which he produced his second-best rushing yardage total (60) of the season. The Cardinals and Rams will pick off at 4:25 p.m. ET among the later wave of games, so fantasy managers may want to have an alternative option ready to go in the event the news surrounding Murray's status takes a turn for the worse.
Nov 10, 2022
Officially limited Thursday
Murray (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing Wednesday's session due to a hamstring issue, Murray was seen at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, during which he threw passes and jogged about, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. While he seemingly is heading in the right direction as the Cardinals prepare for Sunday's game at the Rams, Murray's status could receive more clarity when the team posts its final injury report of Week 10 on Friday.
Nov 10, 2022
Returns to practice Thursday
Murray (hamstring) was spotted at the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Arizona held out Murray on Wednesday due to a hamstring issue, but the absence may have been a precautionary measure. His activity Thursday included throwing during quarterback drills and jogging during warmups, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. The Cardinals' second Week 10 injury report will reveal how much work Murray was able to handle.
Nov 9, 2022
Dealing with hamstring issue
Murray was a non-participant at Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals' first injury report of Week 10 is merely an estimate, but Murray wouldn't have taken part if the team had held an actual practice. As such, his status will be one to watch Thursday and Friday to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's game at the Rams.
Nov 6, 2022
Tosses two TDs in loss
Murray completed 25 of 35 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns and added 60 rushing yards on eight carries in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The quarterback led Arizona in rushing yards and kept his team in the game most of the afternoon, but his offensive line didn't give him much protection -- Murray was sacked five times, including two on the Cardinals' final possession to squelch any chance of a comeback. The 175 passing yards were a season low, as was his 5.0 yards per attempt, but Murray's tossed multiple TDs in two straight games heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Rams.
Oct 30, 2022
Comes up short despite big numbers
Murray completed 31 of 44 passes for 326 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Cardinals' 34-26 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. He also rushed six times for 36 yards and fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals played from behind throughout the contest, so Murray was able to put together a solid performance via sheer volume and some solid runs after catch from his receivers. He unsurprisingly focused the most on DeAndre Hopkins, who he connected with on 12 of 13 targets for 159 yards and a six-yard, second-quarter touchdown. Murray's other pair of scoring tosses went to Zach Ertz (eight yards) and Rondale Moore (38 yards), giving the star signal-caller his first three-touchdown tally through the air this season. Murray's 300-yard effort was his first since Week 3 as well, and despite the fact he couldn't put Arizona in position to tie the game when he was sacked on back-to-back plays on the Cardinals' final possession, he'll have some momentum going into a Week 9 NFC West clash against the Seahawks.
Oct 20, 2022
Efficient in Week 7 win
Murray completed 20 of 29 passes for 204 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Cardinals' 42-34 win over the Saints on Thursday night. He also rushed seven times for 30 yards, threw a two-point conversion pass and committed a fumble that he recovered.
ANALYSIS
While the Cardinals exploded for 42 points, the defense provided a major lift with a pair of pick-sixes. Murray also had a very public heated exchange with head coach Kliff Kingsbury on the sideline during the first half, but he went on to display immediate chemistry with the returning DeAndre Hopkins, who was making his season debut after completing a six-game suspension. Murray connected with Hopkins on 10 occasions for 103 yards, and he hit Greg Dortch for a five-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter for his one scoring toss, which was preceded by a two-point conversion pass to Zach Ertz following the second of the Cardinals' back-to-back pick-sixes late in the first half. Murray also targeted newcomer Robbie Anderson once, and the entire offense should have a chance to be much more cohesive with the extra time afforded ahead of a Week 8 road matchup against the Vikings on Sunday, Oct. 30.
Oct 16, 2022
Inefficient through air
Murray completed 23 of 37 passes for 222 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 19-9 loss to the Seahawks. He added 10 rushes for 100 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks have been a favorable matchup for opposing quarterbacks this season, but Murray failed to take advantage. He averaged only 6.0 yards per attempt, though he did manage four completions of more than 20 yards -- his highest mark in any game this season. Most encouraging was Murray's aggressiveness on the ground, as he tallied a season-high 100 rushing yards. If Murray continues to be aggressive with his legs, he could begin to produce more as expected prior to the season as he and the Cardinals will welcome back DeAndre Hopkins (suspension) in Week 7.
Oct 9, 2022
Struggles continue
Murray completed 28 of 42 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Philadelphia on Sunday while running for 42 yards on four carries.
ANALYSIS
Murray has yet to post a clean box score in 2022, making this the fifth disappointment in a row. The Cardinals organization has issues that have nothing to do with Murray, but unfortunately that means he has only so much control over his own destiny. The good news is the Seattle defense seemingly can't stop anyone, so Murray should be able to generate some momentum against the Seahawks in Week 6. Hopefully the return of DeAndre Hopkins gives Murray a big boost in Week 7, when the Cardinals get a tougher test against New Orleans.
Oct 2, 2022
Produces three TDs in Sunday's win
Murray completed 23 of 32 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 26-16 win over the Panthers. He added 26 rushing yards and a TD on 12 carries.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals headed into halftime down 10-3 but Murray led a big second-half comeback, hitting Zach Ertz and Marquise Brown for scores between his own four-yard rushing touchdown. Murray's still having trouble stretching the field -- Sunday's 6.5 yards per attempt was his best showing in that category this season -- but he'll take a 5:2 TD:INT into a Week 5 clash with the undefeated Eagles.
Sep 25, 2022
Career-high passing volume Sunday
Murray completed 37 of 58 passes for 314 yards without a touchdown or interception in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Rams. He also gained eight yards on two carries.
ANALYSIS
The attempts and completions were both career highs for Murray, but he averaged only 5.4 yards per attempt and the volume didn't result in much offense. The Cardinals' offense has mostly struggled to begin the season aside from last week's second-half comeback against the Raiders, leaving Murray with a pedestrian 3:1 TD:INT heading into a Week 4 tilt against the Panthers.
Sep 18, 2022
Rises to the occasion
Murray completed 31 of 49 pass attempts for 277 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Las Vegas on Sunday, adding five carries for 28 yards and one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Murray did some extended heroics to secure the 29-23 overtime victory, but the peripheral stats are still concerning. Murray should have been able to do better than 5.7 yards per pass attempt in this game, but just as in many other games Murray had to scrape and claw for his still-meager production. DeAndre Hopkins (suspension) can't return soon enough, but Murray gets a tough Week 3 test against the Rams in the meantime.
Sep 11, 2022
Two TDs in Sunday's loss
Murray completed 22 of 34 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while adding five carries for 29 yards in Sunday's 44-21 loss to Kansas City. He also completed a two-point conversion to Zach Ertz.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't supply much yardage through the air, Murray did toss a couple garbage-time TDs in the fourth quarter to salvage his Week 1 line. The fourth-year quarterback was held below 200 passing yards only once in 14 starts last season, and he figures to post better numbers in Week 2 against a Raiders defense that just surrendered 279 yards and three touchdowns to Justin Herbert in its opener.
Aug 21, 2022
Not in line to see preseason action
Murray (wrist) confirmed earlier this week that he isn't in line to play in the preseason, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is bouncing back from some wrist soreness, but he's been practicing of late, so the issue isn't anything that figures to impact his regular season status. For now, the franchise's signal caller will focus on building chemistry ahead of Week 1 with an Arizona wideout corps that will be minus DeAndre Hopkins (six-game suspension) to begin the season, but has been bolstered by the offseason addition of Marquise Brown. With Murray not slated to play and Colt McCoy dealing with an injury, Dan Santaromita of The Athletic indicates that Trace McSorley is expected to start Sunday's preseason game against the Ravens.
Aug 15, 2022
Practices Monday
Murray (wrist) took part in Monday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hasn't got much on-field work in training camp, first missing five days after testing positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 1 before having his practice reps limited last week due to a sore wrist. Monday's session actually marked the first in which Murray and Marquise Brown (hamstring) both were available, and the Cardinals also showed signs of running the Air Raid, with Brown and Rondale Moore serving as slot receivers while DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green manned the outside, according to Paul Calvisi of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. Murray won't have Hopkins available come Week 1 due to the wideout's six-game suspension to start the campaign, but the quarterback still has a wealth of skill-position talent with which to make his presence felt.
Aug 9, 2022
Dealing with minor wrist soreness
Coach Kliff Kingbury said Murray's practice participation has been limited due to a sore wrist recently, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kingsbury downplayed the issue, saying it's essentially maintenance rather than a real injury. Murray isn't likely to play in Friday's preseason opener against Cincinnati, though that presumably would've been the case even if his wrist wasn't sore.
Aug 6, 2022
Practicing Saturday
Murray (illness) will participate in Saturday's practice, although the expectation is that he'll be eased back into the majority of the team drills, Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds as if Murray will participate in most of the conditioning drills which is important considering he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier last week. It's unclear whether the Cardinals will use their $230.5 million quarterback during the team's opening preseason contest Aug. 12 against the Bengals, but regardless it certainly seems as if the star signal caller will have no issues heading into the 2023 campaign
Aug 5, 2022
Has chance to practice Saturday
Coach Kliff Kingsbury noted Friday that he hopes Murray (illness) will be able to participate in Saturday's Red/White practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and has been isolating since then, missing all on-field work in the meantime. The diagnosis comes on the heels of his five-year, $230.5 million extension, which initially included a homework clause that eventually was removed after much scrutiny. Once he returns to action -- be it Saturday or next week -- he seemingly will be available for the Cardinals' first preseason game next Friday, Aug. 12 in Cincinnati, but with three exhibitions on tap he may only make one appearance before Week 1, like he did last year.
Aug 2, 2022
Could return to practice soon
Coach Kliff Kingsbury indicated Tuesday that Murray (illness) is "feeling better" and that he hopes the QB can return practice by the end of the week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In the meantime, Murray who recently tested positive for COVID-19, has been participating in meetings virtually. Additionally, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site notes that Murray had his right wrist checked out during Friday's practice, but added via Kingsbury that the signal caller's wrist is improving. While Murray is unable to practice, Colt McCoy will take Arizona's first-team QB reps.
Aug 1, 2022
Tests positive for COVID
Murray has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss at least five days of practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray likely will return to practice next week ahead of the Cardinals' preseason opener in Cincinnati on Aug. 12. He recently signed a five-year contract extension for approximately $230.5 million.
Jul 21, 2022
Lands five-year extension
Murray has signed a five-year contract extension with the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is getting a five-year, $230.5 million deal that includes $160 million guaranteed. With that, the 24-year-old quarterback is under contract with Arizona through the 2028 season.
Jun 1, 2022
Expected to make offseason debut
Murray returned to the Cardinals' training facility Tuesday and is expected to be on the practice field for the first time during Arizona's voluntary OTAs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has yet to appear at any of Arizona's offseason workouts while he seeks a contract extension after a tough end to last season. Coach Kliff Kingsbury previously stated he expected the quarterback to return for mandatory minicamp, but it appears like Murray is showing his commitment to the organization by showing up for the voluntary workout.
May 23, 2022
Expected to be present for minicamp
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that he expects Murray to be present for mandatory minicamp, Tyler Dragon of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is currently not present for Arizona's voluntary OTAs, which started Monday. The quarterback remains away from the team as he continues to angle for a contract extension after a tumultuous end to the Cardinals' season a year ago. Murray, who had his fifth-year option picked up by Arizona in April, has made it clear he's dissatisfied with his current contract situation, with Jeremy Fowler of ESPN even reporting the quarterback could be unwilling to suit up for Week 1 without a new deal. Fowler's report and Kingsbury's comments appear to contradict each other, so whether Murray is present or not at Arizona's mandatory minicamp, which starts in mid-June, will go a long way in determining what the Cardinals' quarterback situation may look like heading into the regular season.
May 23, 2022
Absent from start of OTAs
Murray is not present Monday for the start of Arizona's voluntary OTAs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals won't begin mandatory mini-camp until mid-June, and it looks as though Murray may remain away from the team until then as he continues to angle for a contract extension. Murray, who had his fifth-year option picked up by Arizona in April, has made it clear that he's dissatisfied with his current contract situation, with Jeremy Fowler of ESPN even reporting that the quarterback could be unwilling to suit up Week 1 without a new deal. While no agreement on an extension has been reached, the Cardinals did extend an olive branch to Murray by trading for former Oklahoma teammate Marquise Brown from Baltimore, a move which helps to make up for the fact that DeAndre Hopkins (suspension) will miss the first six games of the season.
May 4, 2022
Impacted by Hopkins suspension
Murray will be without DeAndre Hopkins to start the 2022 season after the NFL handed the wide receiver a six-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray's offseason so far hasn't been without drama, as the quarterback displayed dissatisfaction with the Cardinals and his contract. The team picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal on April 27 and then appeased him by acquiring wide receiver and college teammate Marquise Brown from the Ravens during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Brown was set to join Hopkins at the top of the wide receiver pecking order, but the former now should serve as Murray's No. 1 option for the first six contests of the upcoming campaign. Aside from Brown, Murray will have WR A.J. Green, TE Zach Ertz, RB James Conner, WR Rondale Moore, rookie TE Trey McBride and WR Antoine Wesley to work with once Week 1 arrives. Whether Murray can fare better sans Hopkins this year versus 2021 remains to be seen, but according to ESPN, the signal-caller's completion percentage dropped seven points (72 to 65), while his yards per attempt went down 2.2 YPA (8.8 to 6.6) when the wideout wasn't on the field last season.
Apr 27, 2022
Has fifth-year option picked up
The Cardinals picked up the fifth-year option on Murray's contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This comes as no surprise, as Murray more or less has met expectations since Arizona made him the first overall pick in the 2019 Draft. He's improved both his completion percentage and yards per attempt in each of his three seasons, topping out at 69 percent and 7.9 YPA in 2021. Murray also has combined for 70 passing touchdowns, 1,786 rushing yards and 20 more scores on the ground in 46 games. There was some added drama this offseason, with the quarterback expressing dissatisfaction with his contract and the team itself. Following Wednesday's news, though, Murray will be due roughly $30 million for the 2023 campaign, per Rapoport. Next season, Murray will have all of DeAndre Hopkins, James Conner, Zach Ertz, A.J. Green, Rondale Moore and potentially other offseason additions at his disposal.
Apr 21, 2022
Unlikely to be dealt
GM Steve Keim stated Thursday that there's "zero chance" the Cardinals trade Murray, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rumor mill has swirled around Murray this offseason, with multiple outlets reporting his dissatisfaction with the team and the situation with his contract. Currently, the first overall pick in the 2019 Draft is preparing for his fourth season as a pro, making him eligible for an extension on his rookie deal. Keim spoke on that topic, noting recent top-tier quarterbacks with three years under their belts (like Patrick Mahomes in 2020 and Josh Allen in 2021) were extended "in the middle of the summer or late summer." Murray himself chimed in on his personal Twitter page Thursday, writing "I wanna win Super Bowls with the Cardinals, AZ is home." Assuming he remains in Arizona, Murray will have WR DeAndre Hopkins, RB James Conner, TE Zach Ertz, WR A.J. Green, WR Rondale Moore and whoever may join them via the draft available to him at the skill positions this fall.
Mar 1, 2022
Seeks long-term deal
In a statement Monday, Murray's agent, Erik Burkhardt relayed that the QB wishes to remain with the Cardinals long-term, ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reports.
ANALYSIS
The statement also notes that Murray -- who is slated to earn about $5.4 million in 2022 -- has sent a detailed contract proposal to the franchise that Burkhardt suggests is "in line with the current quarterback market" but lowers the 2022-23 salary-cap hit of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. For his part, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill indicated that he spoke with Murray on Thursday night, noting "we've had good conversations nonstop." While Bidwill has stated that Murray is part of the team's "long-term plan," he also hinted that addressing the signal-caller's contract situation is something that may not arrive until further down the road, indicating as NFL free agency approaches that "the structure of it, the timing of it -- it's a complicated process and it takes some time."
Jan 17, 2022
Dismal in defeat
Murray completed 19 of 34 passes for 137 yards and two interceptions in Monday night's 34-11 wild-card loss to the Rams. He also threw for a successful two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Murray was rattled by the Rams' pass rush in the first half, at one point throwing a careless three-yard interception for a touchdown before being picked on a screen pass his next drive. Despite being down 28 points early in the third quarter, Murray still didn't manufacture much in predictable passing situations afterward. In fact, he set a season low in yards per attempt. Prior to Monday's horrendous playoff exit, Murray enjoyed another rather successful regular season, ranking second league-wide in completion percentage while throwing for 3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 14 games. He also rushed for 423 yards and five more scores. Now eligible for a contract extension, Murray's supporting cast will be interesting to monitor ahead of the 2022 campaign, as many key offensive contributors are slated to hit free agency. Given his familiarity and production within coach Kliff Kingsbury's system, however, Murray figures to remain one of the better playmaking quarterbacks in the NFL.
Jan 9, 2022
Struggles in finale
Murray completed 28 of 39 pass attempts for 240 yards and one touchdown while running for 35 yards on five carries against Seattle on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It's a disappointing showing from Murray in a game the Cardinals really wanted to win but got outgunned 37-30 at home. A defensive touchdown by the Cardinals made the game look a little closer than it was, and Murray particularly struggled to get the ball to any of his wide receivers. Despite the Arizona receivers being much bigger than the Seattle corners, Christian Kirk (two catches for 43 yards on three targets), A.J. Green (four catches for 23 yards on nine targets) and Antoine Wesley (two catches for 17 yards on four targets) were all duds. Having dealt with significant separate injuries in each of the last two years (shoulder in 2020, ankle in 2021) and general inconsistency at times in 2021, Murray hasn't been able to turn into the consistently dominant fantasy force his talent otherwise gives reason to expect. He'll try to sharpen up his game and get back on rhythm as the Cardinals begin their attempted playoff run.
Jan 2, 2022
Leads Cards to win
Murray completed 26 of 38 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns while adding 44 rushing yards on nine carries in Sunday's 25-22 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
It's the first time in four games that Murray has tossed multiple TDs, as he found Antoine Wesley for red-zone strikes in the second and third quarters. With a playoff spot locked up but the NFC West title still in reach, Murray will look to finish the regular season with another big performance in Week 18 against the Seahawks.
Dec 25, 2021
Spotty showing Saturday
Murray completed 27 of 43 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown while compiling 74 yards on his four carries during Saturday's 22-16 loss to the Colts. Murray also was credited with seven receiving yards on a lateral.
ANALYSIS
Most of Murray's output on the ground came on a 57-yard run on the Cardinals' second possession of the game. On top of that, game script forced the team into pass-happy mode once the Colts went up, 22-13, midway through the fourth quarter. In the end, the overall results were relatively fantasy friendly, but he does appear to miss DeAndre Hopkins (knee), as Murray has posted his two lowest completion percentages of the season since the premier wide receiver landed on IR after Week 14. Murray will attempt to right the ship Sunday, Jan. 2 in Dallas, whose pass defense ranks 22nd against the pass (245.6 yards per game) this season.
Dec 19, 2021
Struggles in stunning upset loss
Murray completed 23 of 41 passes for 257 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 30-12 loss to the Lions. He added three yards on four rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
Murray struggled in the first game since his favorite target DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was shut down for the remainder of the regular season. The Lions did a great job of keeping the mobile quarterback from making plays with his legs en route to arguably the biggest upset of the season. It was 17-0 Detroit at the half, and just as the Cardinals seemed to be getting back into it with a field goal and a forced fumble to open the third quarter, Murray stunted that momentum with an interception. His 26-yard touchdown pass to Christian Kirk came with just 4:46 remaining, and backup Colt McCoy entered for Arizona's final possession as the Cardinals waved the white flag. Murray will look to bounce back and end Arizona's two-game losing streak when the Colts come to town for a Week 16 Saturday showdown.
Dec 13, 2021
Throws costly picks in defeat
Murray completed 32 of 49 passes for 383 yards and two interceptions in Monday night's 30-23 loss to the Rams. He also rushed seven times for 61 yards.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed a couple deep throws on Arizona's opening drive and was then picked on the doorstep of scoring to end his second series. The signal-caller subsequently rallied, though, helped by a perfect, 41-yard throw to Christian Kirk and some timely scrambles on the Cardinals' pair of scoring drives prior to halftime. However, to kick off the second half, Murray threw another costly interception, this time surrendering possession deep in his own territory. Although he compensated with some big plays through the air and on the ground in the fourth, racking up the yardage, his comeback attempt ultimately fell short. After dropping an important divisional game, Murray fortunately now has a great opportunity to rebound against the one-win Lions in Week 15.

Four total touchdowns in return
Murray (ankle) completed 11 of 15 passes for 123 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Cardinals' 33-22 win over the Bears on Sunday. He also rushed 10 times for 59 yards and another pair of scores.
ANALYSIS
Murray and top wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) both made their returns from three-game absences Sunday, and the duo commemorated the occasion early with a 20-yard touchdown connection early in the first quarter. The dynamic quarterback went on to put the ball up sparingly after that but did so with great efficiency, and he ultimately made it a spectacular fantasy day with a 23-yard touchdown pass to James Conner along with nine- and three-yard touchdown runs. Now having proven a return to full health with his sixth multi-touchdown effort of the season, Murray will look ahead to a Week 14 Monday night showdown at home against the Rams.
Dec 5, 2021
Back from three-game absence
Murray (ankle) is active for Sunday's game at Chicago, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hasn't played since the Cardinals' final offensive play of a Week 8 loss to the Packers, the result of a sprained ankle. In advance of this contest, he logged limited showings in practice -- like he did before Arizona's last game Nov. 21 -- but this time around he'll actually be available and direct the offense. After a three-game absence, Murray will be facing a Bears defense that has allowed the ninth-most YPA (7.7) and 18 touchdowns versus five interceptions to quarterbacks in 11 outings this season.

Gets green light from coach
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury told Stacey Dales of NFL Network that Murray (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, will play.
ANALYSIS
Murray will be officially announced as Arizona's Week 13 starting quarterback when the team releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but Kingsbury's comments should clear up any lingering questions fantasy managers had about the 24-year-old's availability. Even though Murray has been cleared to return from a three-game, four-week absence, it's fair to wonder how he'll look following the one-month layoff. Given that preserving Murray's health for a potential playoff run is likely the Cardinals' top priority, his designed runs could be scaled back a bit down the stretch, which would be detrimental to his fantasy outlook. In his final four games before exiting the lineup, Murray had already seen a major reduction in his output on the ground, as he compiled only 38 rushing yards and no touchdowns during that stretch.
Dec 5, 2021
Expected to play
Murray (ankle) is expected to start Sunday's game against the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been out since Week 8 but appears to be ready to go following the Cardinals' Week 12 bye. He was limited throughout the week in practice and remains officially listed as questionable, however, so it's possible he won't be quite his usual dynamic self even if does indeed wind up being able to play.
Dec 3, 2021
Dons questionable tag again
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Chicago after practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday through Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with the benefit for a Week 12 bye to aid his recovery, Murray is questionable for the fourth game in a row, with head coach Kliff Kingsbury once again characterizing the franchise signal-caller as a "game-day decision," according to Urban. Since Murray also logged a trio of limited practices Week 11 before ultimately sitting out a third straight game in the Cardinals' win over the Seahawks, it's tough to gauge whether he truly made enough progress to return to action following the bye week. Like Murray, star wideout DeAndre Hopkins has also missed three straight contests and is being labeled a game-time call, but he may be trending in the wrong direction after following up a pair of limited practices to begin the week with no activity Friday. Colt McCoy will stay ready for the start in case Murray isn't able to go this week, with a final word on the latter's status set to come when Arizona releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 3, 2021
To be treated as game-time call
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that Murray (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Bears, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray seems on track to play after practicing again Friday, while DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is perhaps more of a question mark. That said, there's been no confirmation on either player one way or another, so both should be treated as game-time decisions unless there's something more definitive before inactive lists are released Sunday morning. The Cardinals have an early 1:00 ET kickoff this week, traveling to Chicago to face a Bears squad that has more than a few key injuries of its own.
Dec 2, 2021
Stays limited at practice
Murray (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Murray has yet to log a full session this week, there's an expectation from the Cardinals that both he and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) will return to the fold Sunday at Chicago, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Murray will have one more chance Friday to make a positive impression on Cardinals coaches and trainers with the aim to avoid a designation for Week 13 action. If he does enter the weekend as questionable, though, his status won't be confirmed until 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 1, 2021
Limited practice Wednesday
Murray (ankle) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As was wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring), with Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic noting that both players "were moving around pretty well" in the portion of the session he observed. While Murray's presence at practice Wednesday bodes well for his chances of returning to action Sunday against the Bears, coach Kliff Kingsbury noted that the duo's Week 13 status will hinge on how things go for them the rest of the practice week.
Nov 29, 2021
Hopeful for Week 13 return
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday he's "hopeful" Murray (ankle) will be available against the Bears on Sunday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kingsbury said he won't confirm Murray's availability until after seeing the quarterback at practice throughout the week, and the same goes for star wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring). There's at least hope that both Arizona's top offensive playmakers will be back in action coming off a bye, but fantasy managers will need to continue monitoring the situation until official confirmation is given.
Nov 21, 2021
Another absence Sunday
Murray (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday in Seattle, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After putting in a pregame warmup, Murray will be held out by the Cardinals as a result of the sprained ankle he suffered back in Week 8 against the Packers. Colt McCoy thus will make a third consecutive start, but he won't have DeAndre Hopkins available due to a nagging hamstring injury. The Cardinals are on bye Week 12, so the Murray-Hopkins connection won't be seen again until Sunday, Dec. 5 at Chicago at the earliest.
Nov 21, 2021
Closer to doubtful than questionable
Murray (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, is believed to have a "30 percent" chance of playing, Jay Glazer said on the "Fox NFL Sunday" program.
ANALYSIS
Glazer's report aligns with one from Adam Schefter of ESPN that came out late Saturday and indicated Murray was likely trending toward a third straight absence. Meanwhile, Colt McCoy (pectoral) is also listed as questionable, but he's expected to be in the clear to make another start in place of Murray. Assuming that's the case, expect Murray to be included among the Cardinals' list of inactive players, which will be released 90 minutes prior to the game's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. No. 3 quarterback Chris Streveler looks on track to serve as McCoy's backup.
Nov 20, 2021
Unlikely to play
Signs point to Murray (ankle) remaining out Sunday against Seattle, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is officially listed as questionable, and the Cardinals are unlikely to make a final decision until pre-game warmups, but it looks as though he's more likely than not to miss his third straight game. The quarterback has at least been a limited participant in practice throughout the week, but the Cardinals can give Murray two more weeks to rest if he sits Sunday, as the team has a bye next week. Colt McCoy (pectoral) carries the same questionable tag but is expected to start if Murray is indeed ruled out.
Nov 19, 2021
Officially questionable for Week 11
The Cardinals list Murray (ankle) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury labeled the quarterback as a game-time decision earlier Friday, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
For the third week in a row, Kingsbury is terming Murray as game-day or game-time decision, but the third-year signal-caller appears to have a more realistic shot at playing this week compared to the prior to contests. According to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, Murray practiced on a limited basis Wednesday through Friday, after previously managing only one limited session in Week 10 and none in Week 9. Colt McCoy (pectoral), who started the past two games under center, is listed as questionable as well, but after practicing fully Friday, he should be available to pick up the start if Murray can't. No. 3 option Chris Streveler heads into the weekend as the only Arizona quarterback without an injury designation.
Nov 19, 2021
Labeled as game-time decision again
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest in Seattle, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the third straight week Kingsbury has labeled his starting QB as a game-time call, with the two previous instances preceding inactive status for Murray and starts for Colt McCoy, who now has a pectoral injury to contend with. Recent comments from both Kingsbury and Murray suggest it's closer to a true 50/50 call this time around, though the upcoming bye in Week 12 could also be a factor, allowing Murray to get two more weeks of rest with only one missed game. That said, while the Cardinals obviously feel good about their playoff chances, any one loss (especially in the division) could ultimately be the difference between the NFC's No. 1 seed or Nos. 5/6. Murray sets up as a true game-day decision ahead of the 4:25 ET kickoff Sunday, while star WR DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Arizona.
Nov 18, 2021
Limited again Thursday
Murray (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has maintained his activity level for three practices in a row dating back to last Friday, but it remains to be seen if his left ankle sprain will recover enough in time to play Sunday at Seattle. The Cardinals' quarterback room is banged up at the moment, with top reserve Colt McCoy also limited this week due to a pectoral injury. Clearly, coach Kliff Kingsbury will go with Murray if he's healthy enough to suit up, but McCoy and even Chris Streveler are in consideration for the start.
Nov 17, 2021
Limited to begin Week 11 prep
Murray (ankle) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As he did last Friday, Murray mixed into drills to kick off Week 11 prep. Earlier Wednesday, when he was asked whether he would return from a two-game absence Sunday at Seattle, he told Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, "I hope so. I'm pretty close." However, coach Kliff Kingsbury struck a similar tone, saying, "He was out there moving around pretty good today, and has just gotten better every day. We shall see how it progresses." Meanwhile, Murray's backup, Colt McCoy, was limited Wednesday due to the pectoral injury that knocked him out of the Week 10 loss to the Panthers. If Murray and McCoy are unable to go this weekend, Chris Streveler is the next quarterback up for the Cardinals.
Nov 15, 2021
No safe bet to return Week 11
Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury wouldn't commit to Murray (ankle) being available for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. "It's going to be close," Kingsbury said, regarding Murray's chances of playing next weekend.
ANALYSIS
Murray was sidelined for a second straight game in the Cardinals' 34-10 loss to the Panthers this past weekend, enabling Colt McCoy to pick up another start before he exited with a pectoral strain. Kingsbury suggested that he's hopeful McCoy will be available for the game in Seattle next weekend if needed, but the Cardinals would ideally prefer to have their No. 1 quarterback in Murray back in action. Ultimately, Murray's ability to play Week 11 may hinge on what he's able to do in practices Wednesday through Friday. While tending to the left ankle sprain, Murray managed only one limited practice last week before being listed as questionable and then ultimately inactive for the loss to Carolina.
Nov 14, 2021
Sitting again Sunday
Murray (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been hampered by a sprained ankle that he picked up near the end of a Week 8 loss to the Packers. He's already missed one game as a result of the issue, and after he logged just one limited practice during Week 10 prep the Cardinals weren't optimistic about his prospects to play this Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. A pregame workout was the determining factor in the team's decision to sit Murray, which will allow Colt McCoy to get another spot start. McCoy again will be operating with a short-handed cast on offense, as DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) was deemed inactive and Chase Edmonds is on IR due to the high-ankle sprain he suffered last Sunday at San Francisco.
Nov 13, 2021
Arizona pessimistic he can play
Arizona is pessimistic that Murray (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, will be able to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. However, Murray wants to take the decision up to game time.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Colt McCoy will start for a second consecutive week, but Murray will likely be a game-time decision ahead of the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Murray did return to practice one day last week (Friday) in a limited capacity, giving some hope he can return soon.
Nov 12, 2021
Questionable to face Panthers
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a formality after coach Kliff Kingsbury deemed his quarterback a game-day decision for the second straight week. The difference this time is that Murray has practiced, albeit once (Friday) and in a limited capacity. WRs DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and Rondale Moore (concussion) are also considered game-time calls ahead of the 4:05 ET kickoff, with the rookie the more likely of the two to play.
Nov 12, 2021
Game-time decision again
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray (ankle) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Panthers after returning to practice Friday, Dana Scott of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray presumably was a limited participant in his end-of-week practice and almost certainly will be listed as questionable on the final injury report. He was ruled out in a game-day decision last Sunday, allowing Colt McCoy to make the start and lead the Cardinals to a 31-17 win over the Panthers. It'll be another late-afternoon kickoff in Week 10, with Panthers-Cardinals scheduled for 4:05 ET. Top wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is also in danger of missing another game.
Nov 12, 2021
Returns to practice
Murray (ankle) is returning to practice Friday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The extent of his participation isn't yet clear, but it appears Murray will practice for the first time since spraining his ankle at the end of a Week 8 loss to Green Bay. The Cardinals got by without him in San Francisco last week, with James Conner scoring three touchdowns and backup QB Colt McCoy attempting only 26 passes in a 31-17 victory. Murray's return for Sunday's game against Carolina would provide a sizable boost to all of the Arizona pass catchers, though it isn't clear exactly who will play with DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring), Rondale Moore (hamstring) and A.J. Green (illness) all listed on the injury report this week. Hopkins appears to be missing another practice Friday morning, while Green and Moore are present.
Nov 11, 2021
Absent for another practice
Murray (ankle) wasn't in attendance for Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said last week that Murray didn't necessarily need to practice in order to play, but after the quarterback ended up sitting out the team's Week 9 win over the 49ers, it's possible the team's stance may have changed. If that's the case, Murray may need to get on the field in some capacity Friday for the Cardinals and fantasy managers alike to be optimistic that he'll be available Sunday against the Panthers. If Murray's sprained left ankle keeps him sidelined for a second straight game, Colt McCoy would pick up another start at quarterback.
Nov 10, 2021
Making progress with ankle sprain
Murray, who didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, said he's made progress with his medial left ankle sprain and anticipates playing Sunday versus the Panthers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray sustained the injury near the end of a Week 8 loss to the Packers and didn't practice at all last week before being deemed inactive for the Cardinals' Week 9 game at San Francisco. When speaking to the media Monday, coach Kliff Kingsbury told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com that he didn't "have a feel for it yet" regarding Murray's potential to play this weekend. Kingsbury and company likely will want to see Murray mix into practice Thursday or Friday to make the decision-making process a bit easier, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the quarterback doesn't necessarily have to do so to return to action Sunday. If Murray is held out again, though, Colt McCoy will serve as the Cards' starting quarterback.
Nov 8, 2021
Status uncertain for Week 10
Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury wouldn't commit to Murray (ankle) being available for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. "I don't have a feel for it yet," Kingsbury said Monday, regarding Murray's Week 10 status.
ANALYSIS
Before Murray was inactive for Sunday's 31-17 win over the 49ers, Kingsbury termed him as a "game-day decision" leading into the contest. The coach's comments a day after the game seemingly hints that Murray wasn't that close to suiting up against the San Francisco, and a clearer picture of the quarterback's outlook for Week 10 likely won't come until Arizona resumes practicing Wednesday. Since Murray didn't practice in any fashion last week, he'll likely need to get back on the field as at least a limited participant by Friday to put himself in a position to play. For what it's worth, backup Colt McCoy -- who completed 22 of 26 attempts for 249 yards and a touchdown in his Week 9 spot start -- said Monday in an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show" that he expects Murray to be back in action against the Panthers.
Nov 7, 2021
Logging first absence of career
Murray (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday in San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Murray sustained a medial left ankle sprain near the end of a Week 8 loss to the Packers, keeping him off the practice field this week. Ultimately, he was considered a game-time decision, with his status subject to a pregame warmup, but he was unable to do enough for the Cardinals to risk it Sunday. Murray thus will miss the first game of his career, handing over the offense to backup quarterback Colt McCoy. Murray will be joined by DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and A.J. Green (reserve/COVID-19 list) on Sunday, so McCoy will be tossing the pigskin to wide receivers Christian Kirk, Rondale Moore, Antoine Wesley, Andy Isabella and Greg Dortch.
Nov 7, 2021
Looks bound for first career absence
Murray (ankle) remains listed as questionable as the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff for Sunday's game against the 49ers approaches, but Jay Glazer of Fox Sports relays that it will take "something miraculous" in pregame warmups for the quarterback to play.
ANALYSIS
Glazer's dispatch seemingly aligns with a report released earlier Sunday by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who said the Cardinals didn't have "a ton of optimism" that Murray would be able to play following a week of no practice activity. The team has similar pessimism about the status of top wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring), who like Murray, didn't practice all week and is viewed as a game-day decision. Official confirmation on the statuses of both players should arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to kickoff, when Arizona releases its inactive list. Murray will likely find himself on the list for the first time in his career, clearing the way for Colt McCoy to draw the start at quarterback, while No. 3 option Chris Streveler serves as his backup.
Nov 7, 2021
Trending toward Week 9 absence
Murray (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, is hopeful to suit up, but the Cardinals don't have "a ton of optimism" that the quarterback will play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray plans to go through a pregame workout before the Cardinals decide on his status, but the third-year signal-caller looks bound to miss the first regular-season game of his career unless his sprained left ankle checks out better than expected coming off a week without any practice. Because the Cardinals and 49ers won't kick off until 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, official word on Murray's status won't arrive until after the first wave of games begin at 1 p.m., so fantasy managers are probably best off replacing him with another option at this stage. Colt McCoy took all the first-team reps in practice this week and will be in line to get the start if Murray is inactive, while Chris Streveler would serve as the No. 2 quarterback in such a scenario.
Nov 7, 2021
Status depends on warmups
Murray, who (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest in San Francisco, is expected to test his injury in pre-game warmups before Arizona makes a final decision on his status, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
ANALYSIS
Schefter notes that the Cardinals want to be careful with his injury and could start Colt McCoy if he isn't ready to play. Murray failed to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, which is usually an ominous sign. However, head coach Kliff Kingsbury has said the quarterback doesn't need to practice in order to play. Still, there looks to be a real risk Murray sits and his late 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff time will make navigating his status for fantasy managers even more difficult.
Nov 5, 2021
Game-day call for Week 9
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest in San Francisco and is being viewed as a game-day decision by head coach Kliff Kingsbury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite having a longer turnaround for the Week 9 contest after the Cardinals played Thursday against the Packers in Week 8, Murray wasn't able to demonstrate much progress in his recovery from the medial sprain of his left ankle he sustained in the loss to Green Bay. Murray failed to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, though Kingsbury has said the quarterback doesn't need to practice in order to play. Arizona plans to re-evaluate Murray on Sunday morning with the hope that an extra two days of rest will be enough for the pain in his ankle to subside, but it's uncertain if a report on his status -- one way or the other -- will arrive before the first wave of games kick off at 1 p.m. ET. Regardless, a final word on Murray's availability or lack thereof will arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, when Arizona releases its inactive list. Veteran Colt McCoy has taken reps with the starters all week and will be prepared to step in under center if Murray can't go.
Nov 5, 2021
Not practicing again
Murray (ankle) wasn't on the field for the open portion of Friday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Unless Murray fits in some work on the field in the closed portion of Friday's session, he won't have practiced in any capacity throughout the week. While a lack of practice activity Wednesday through Friday typically results in a player being ruled out for game day, head coach Kliff Kingsbury previously said that Murray doesn't necessarily need to practice in order to play. The Cardinals will provide Murray with an official Week 9 designation following Friday's practice, but even if he gets listed as questionable rather than doubtful, the 24-year-old likely profiles as a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's game in San Francisco, which kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET. Colt McCoy has taken all the reps with the Arizona offense this week and would be in line to pick up the start if Murray is sidelined for the first time in his career.
Nov 4, 2021
Still not practicing
Murray (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray wasn't present at the portion of the session open to the media, indicating another DNP was likely for the third-year quarterback as he recovers from a medial left ankle sprain from Week 8. Indeed, the preceding has come to pass, and he'll have just one more chance to fit in some on-field work before the Cardinals determine designations for a Week 9 visit to San Francisco. In the end, he may end up being a game-time call for Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, with Colt McCoy to direct Arizona's offense if Murray is unable to suit up.
Nov 4, 2021
Absent for another practice
Murray (ankle) wasn't in attendance for Thursday's practice and is expected to be listed as a non-participant on Arizona's official report for the second straight day, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with the benefit of a longer turnaround for the Cardinals' Week 9 matchup Sunday in San Francisco after the team played Thursday night Week 8, Murray hasn't been able to move past a medial sprain of his left ankle. Though head coach Kliff Kingsbury described Murray as "day-to-day" earlier in the week, the star quarterback's consecutive absences from practice doesn't offer much reassurance that he'll be ready to go by Sunday. Murray will likely need to practice in some capacity Friday for fantasy managers to feel good about his chances of starting Sunday, and even if he suits up, there's a good possibility that the Cardinals look to limit his designed runs. Colt McCoy will work with the first-team offense in practice once again Thursday and would be in line to start this weekend if Murray can't go.
Nov 3, 2021
DNP on Wednesday
Murray (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was seen with a walking boot on his left leg after the Cardinals' Week 8 loss to the Packers. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports later reported that Murray was tending to a medial ankle sprain. Coach Kliff Kingsbury has used terms like "day-to-day" and "game-time decision" to describe Murray's status, according to Weinfuss. Murray doesn't necessarily need to practice this week to be able to suit up Sunday in San Francisco, Kingsbury told Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, but a return to the field Thursday or Friday would put the third-year signal-caller in a better position to play Week 9.
Nov 3, 2021
Not practicing Wednesday
Murray (ankle) wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
That's not surprising, given that coach Kliff Kingsbury previously noted that Murray is considered day-to-day and acknowledged that the QB's Week 9 status has yet to be determined. If Murray is unavailable for Sunday's 4:25 ET contest against the 49ers, Colt McCoy would draw the start in his place.
Nov 1, 2021
Coach non-committal on Week 9 status
Murray is progressing in his recovery from a left ankle injury, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury wouldn't speculate on the quarterback's availability for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Murray is dealing with a medial ankle sprain, an injury he sustained in the Cardinals' Week 8 loss to the Packers last Thursday. The longer turnaround in advance of the Cardinals' game in San Francisco should help Murray, but Kingsbury suggested that the 24-year-old is still viewed as day to day as the team begins preparations for Week 9. Kingsbury added that Colt McCoy will stay ready in the event Murray doesn't progress as hoped as the week rolls along.
Oct 31, 2021
Dealing with sprained ankle
Murray is dealing with what Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports is a medial ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the Cardinals are hoping that the extra rest afforded by the fact that the team played this past Thursday will give Murray enough time to recover in time for a Nov. 7 contest against the 49ers. With that in mind, the QB's status will be worth monitoring closely once Arizona resumes practicing ahead of Week 9 action. If Murray misses any time, Colt McCoy would be next up for reps.
Oct 29, 2021
Doesn't anticipate missing time
The Cardinals expect Murray (ankle) to play Week 9 against the 49ers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was spotted in a walking boot after twisting his ankle on the final drive of Thursday's 24-21 loss to Green Bay, but he said he should be fine moving forward. His practice status will still need to be monitored next week, with the 25-year-old QB getting three extra days of rest after a Thursday game. If Murray's ankle doesn't heal the way he anticipates, Colt McCoy is next up under center for the Cardinals.

In walking boot after TNF loss
Murray was spotted wearing a walking boot on his left leg following Thursday's 24-21 loss to the Packers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After the final play of the game, which resulted in a Green Bay interception, Murray came up limping. Though the QB indicated afterward that he's "good" and it's possible the walking boot was precautionary, the signal-caller's status will nonetheless be worth monitoring as the Cardinals' Nov. 7 contest against the 49ers approaches.
Oct 29, 2021
Throws critical INT late
Murray completed 22 of 33 passes for 274 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Cardinals' 24-21 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. He also rushed six times for 21 yards and fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
While Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback playing with a significantly short-handed receiving corps, it was Murray who often looked out of sorts for one that had his full array of weapons available. The MVP candidate did manage to come alive at a pivotal time, as he dug the Cardinals out of a field-position quagmire on their own 1-yard line with back-to-back completions to A.J. Green and Christian Kirk that covered 52 yards with just over two minutes remaining. Murray continued to march Arizona down the field, but a pass intended for Green in the end zone with 12 seconds remaining -- likely the Cardinals' last try at a game-winning touchdown before attempting a tying field goal -- was intercepted when the veteran receiver never looked for the ball. Murray did manage to dress up his final line nicely with his late passing success, but Thursday marked only the second time this season he failed to throw a touchdown pass. He and his teammates will look to regroup following their first loss of the season when the vi

Murray completed 20 of 28 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 31-5 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
He also carried the ball six times for 10 yards, including a loss of two yards on a first-quarter tote that gave Houston a safety for the game's first points. Murray quickly erased that mistake and then some, and the third-year QB will take a dazzling 17:5 TD:INT into a Week 8 showdown against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
Oct 17, 2021
Tosses four TDs in Cleveland
Murray completed 20 of 30 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 37-14 win over the Browns. He added six rushing yards on seven carries.
ANALYSIS
The Cards jumped out to a 20-0 lead midway through the second quarter, so Murray didn't have to do too much with his arm or legs, but he still tossed a TD in each quarter to produce another big game. The third-year QB has a 14:4 TD:INT on the year, including a 7:0 mark over the last three games, and he seems likely to post strong numbers again in Week 7 at home against the struggling Texans.

Set to play Sunday
Murray (right shoulder) practiced in full Friday and doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest at Cleveland, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
During the Cardinals' Week 5 win against the 49ers, Murray was spotted grabbing at his right shoulder and even was looked at by team trainers, but he logged all 61 offensive snaps and completed at least 70 percent of his passes for a fourth consecutive game. Still, his practice reps were limited both Wednesday and Thursday before he handled all of them to wrap up Week 6 prep. Earlier Friday, coach Kliff Kingsbury told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com when asked if Murray's should was OK, "Yeah, I think so. I think he'll be ready to go." Now that he's clear of the issue, Murray will be out there Sunday versus the Browns' 11th-ranked pass defense (223.2 yards per game allowed).
Oct 14, 2021
Remains limited in practice
Murray (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray's reps were capped for the second day in a row due to the right shoulder injury, but the Cardinals haven't suggested his availability for Sunday's game in Cleveland is any question. If he elevates to full activity Friday, Murray should head into the Week 6 contest without an injury designation.
Oct 13, 2021
Limited by shoulder issue
Murray was limited at Wednesday's practice by a right shoulder injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't miss any of the Cardinals' 61 offensive snaps during this past Sunday's 17-10 win against the 49ers, but he was seen grabbing at his upper right arm at one point during the game. Clearly, the shoulder on his throwing arm is bothering him at the moment, but he at least was able to get in some reps to begin Week 6 prep. Murray will have two more opportunities to bump up to full participation before Sunday's visit to the Browns.
Oct 3, 2021
Leads win over Rams
Murray completed 24 of 32 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns while adding 39 rushing yards on six carries in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The third-year quarterback was sharp in helping to keep the Cardinals undefeated, but between an impressive effort from the team's ground game and the Arizona defense holding Matthew Stafford relatively in check, Murray didn't have to carry the entire load. He's produced 12 TDs through four games -- nine passing, three rushing -- and he could need to come up big again in Week 5 in another tough divisional matchup against the 49ers.
Sep 26, 2021
Brings it home in second half
Murray completed 28 of 34 passes for 316 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the Cardinals' 31-19 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed seven times for 19 yards and another score.
ANALYSIS
Playing with a less-than-100-percent DeAndre Hopkins and facing a feisty Jaguars defense, Murray and the Cardinals offense struggled in the first half on their way to a 13-7 deficit at intermission. However, the MVP candidate picked it up in the second half and flashed a particularly impressive connection with A.J. Green, who came down with a team-high 36-yard grab on his way to a 112-yard afternoon. Murray's strong early-season chemistry with Christian Kirk (7-104) also persisted, with the two wideouts helping make up for a lackluster showing by Hopkins and propelling Murray to his second game with at least 300 passing yards to open the season. The third-year star will look to make up for his first game without a touchdown pass in 2021 when Arizona travels to the Rams for a tough divisional showdown in Week 4.
Sep 19, 2021
Second 400-yard effort of career
Murray was 29-for-36 passing for 400 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's 34-33 win against the Vikings. He added five carries for 31 yards and another score on the ground.
ANALYSIS
Murray is putting everything together in his third NFL campaign, accounting for nine total TDs through two games (seven passing, two on the ground). The Cardinals seem to have settled on a tight rotation in the skill positions, with six players accounting for Murray's attention through the air (each one had at least four targets). His scoring strikes went for 15 (DeAndre Hopkins), 77 (Rondale Moore) and nine yards (A.J. Green), while Murray's rushing TD came from 12 yards out. Murray's Week 2 performance wasn't perfect by any means, as he tossed a pick-six on the second offensive play of the second half. But he more than made up for it elsewhere, and he'll look to keep up the momentum with a Week 3 road matchup against a weak Jaguars defense.
Sep 12, 2021
Five-touchdown season debut
Murray completed 21-of-32 passes for 289 yards, four touchdowns and one interception at Tennessee on Sunday. He added 20 yards and a fifth touchdown rushing.
ANALYSIS
Murray directed a highly efficient showing for wideouts DeAndre Hopkins (six catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns on eight targts), Christian Kirk (five catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns on five targets) and rookie second-round pick Rondale Moore (four catches for 68 yards on five targets). A.J. Green was less effective (two catches for 25 yards on six targets), but it still seems safe to say the new look Arizona offense could be even more potent than the 2020 one. Although the Minnesota defense will pose more of a pass-rushing threat in Week 2 than the Titans did Sunday, the Vikings cornerback rotation might be thin enough for Murray to capitalize.
Aug 26, 2021
Won't play in preseason finale
Coach Kliff Kingsburry said Thursday that Murray won't suit up for Saturday's exhibition finale against the Saints, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray played two possessions during last weekend's preseason game against the Chiefs, but the Cardinals will now opt to preserve the franchise quarterback for Week 1. "[Murray is] ready to go," Kingsburry said. It wouldn't be surprising to see Arizona hold an number of other starters out as well Saturday. With Murray on the bench, Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler are set helm the offense against New Orleans.
Aug 20, 2021
Brief cameo in Friday's loss
Murray completed one of four passes for two yards and rushed once for eight yards in the Cardinals' 17-10 preseason loss to the Chiefs on Friday night. He also fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense.
ANALYSIS
Heading into the contest, conventional wisdom was Murray would be used sparingly, and that's precisely what came to pass. Murray ultimately played on the first two possessions and took two sacks on his final drive, fumbling on a hit by Chris Jones but not turning the ball over. The stilted performance naturally has no bearing on Murray's regular-season prospects, which remain significantly elevated given his arsenal of pass-catching weapons.
Aug 18, 2021
In line to play Friday
Murray is expected to play in Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray's eventual workload remains to be seen, but it doesn't sound like it'll be more than one or two possessions, with the quarterback noting he'll log "some snaps" Friday. Assuming he does suit up, the appearance likely will be the only one for the third-year pro during exhibition season.
Aug 13, 2021
Not in line to play Friday
Murray is unlikely to play in Friday's preseason contest against the Cowboys, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite coach Kliff Kingsbury saying Murray would get in some snaps Friday, the quarterback is in street clothes just minutes before kickoff. Assuming Murray does sit out, Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler will handle QB duties for the Cardinals.
Aug 13, 2021
Playing status up in air
Murray isn't going through pregame warmups before Friday's preseason game against the Cowboys, meaning he may not see the field, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Earlier this week, coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray would "play some" in the Cardinals' exhibition opener, but that may have been a bluff. If Murray doesn't play Friday, the team will roll with Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler under center.
Aug 9, 2021
Playing Friday night
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray will play in Friday's preseason game against the Cowboys, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With the preseason schedule down to three games, it's possible more teams will play starters in their respective openers. In any case, Murray likely will play only a series or two Friday night.

Hoping to run less this year
Murray believes his running ability "should be a luxury" for the Arizona offense, rather than a crucial component the way it was last season, ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss reports.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers were thrilled with his 133/819/11 rushing line, a big step forward after Murray put up 93/544/4 as a rookie. He hopes the team won't need him to run quite as much moving forward, in part because it's harder to do so when he's banged up. Murray does have a little more help in the pass-catching department this year, with the Cardinals bringing in 33-year-old A.J. Green and rookie second-round pick Rondale Moore, while James Conner replaces Kenyan Drake (LVR) in the backfield. The hope is to create a more balanced offense, after last year's attack largely relied on Murray's legs and DeAndre Hopkins' hands. That's not the worst formula, but a more versatile offense could improve Murray's passing efficiency, perhaps making up for any lost rushing volume.

Injury lingers, won't need surgery
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that Murray (ankle) is still limping but won't require offseason surgery, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray managed to retake the field despite injuring his ankle during Sunday's 18-7 loss to the Rams, but he was clearly still hobbled upon returning in the fourth quarter. That the second-year pro won't require surgery should bode well for his chances of making a full recovery in time for Arizona's offseason program. The 23-year-old emerged as a bonafide fantasy superstar this season, in no small part due to the 819 rushing yards and 11 scores he accumulated on the ground. Murray also took a step forward as a passer, racking up 3,971 yards through the air and a 26:12 TD:INT across 16 contests.
Jan 3, 2021
Retakes field, but held scoreless
Murray (ankle) completed eight of 11 passes for 87 yards while rushing for three yards on a pair of carries during Sunday's 18-7 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Murray had to exit Sunday's contest after absorbing a sack from Los Angeles' Morgan Fox on the opening drive, and he didn't retake the field until the 14:21 mark of the fourth quarter. Powering through his ankle injury, the first-time Pro Bowler demonstrated toughness in attempting to lead his team back in a must-win situation. Murray and the Cardinals' offense couldn't muster any scores over his final three drives, however, with the team's only trip inside Los Angeles' 40-yard line resulting in a blocked field-goal attempt. As Arizona bows out of the season with an 8-8 record and no playoff appearance, Murray boasts a 26:12 TD:INT with 3,971 passing yards. The 23-year-old's 819 rushing yards and 11 rushing scores stand as elite totals among quarterbacks as he enters his third year under contract with the Cardinals in 2021.
Jan 3, 2021
Back in Sunday's game
Murray (ankle) returned to Sunday's contest against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
After Murray injured his ankle on the first drive of the game, he spent most of the next three quarters in the locker room, on the sideline throwing passes and operating a stationary bike while Chris Streveler generated seven points on the next eight possessions. Murray will look to put together a comeback effort.
Jan 3, 2021
Picks up ankle injury
Murray suffered an ankle injury during Sunday's road game versus the Rams, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray emerged from Week 16 with what was termed a lower leg issue, and he now has left the regular-season finale with an injury in that region. He's questionable to return, but if he doesn't rejoin his teammates on the field, Chris Streveler will lead the Cardinals offense.
Jan 3, 2021
Leaves field Sunday
Murray (undisclosed) went to the locker room during Sunday's road game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hobbled off the field, which may indicate he aggravated the lower leg injury that he sustained Week 16 against the 49ers. While Murray's status is unknown, the Cardinals will hand over the keys to the offense to his backup Chris Streveler.
Dec 30, 2020
Puts in full practice Wednesday
Murray (leg) practiced in full Wednesday, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
During the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Murray participated in a scrambling drill, a good sign as he works through the lower leg injury he suffered this past Saturday versus the 49ers. He proceeded to do enough for him to log an uncapped session, setting him up to helm the Cardinals offense, per usual, Sunday against the Rams in L.A. In three career matchups against them, Murray has averaged 220.3 passing yards per game, tossed five touchdowns versus four interceptions and turned 11 carries into 43 yards and one TD.
Dec 30, 2020
Expecting to play Week 17
Murray (lower leg) expects to suit up Sunday against the Rams in L.A., Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray managed some reps at Wednesday's practice, taking part in a scrambling drill, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. Wednesday's injury report will reveal how much work Murray was able to handle, but he appears to be putting himself in a position to play this weekend after sustaining a lower leg issue this past Saturday against the 49ers.
Dec 30, 2020
Spotted at practice
Murray (lower leg) is participating in the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was spotted taking reps during a scrambling drill, a hint that the lower leg injury he sustained last weekend is at least not a severe issue. How well the star signal-caller holds up in weekly practices will no doubt play a major role in determining his availability for Sunday's must-win road game against the Rams.
Dec 30, 2020
Expected at practice
Murray (lower leg) is expected to participate in practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray suffered what appeared to be a significant lower leg injury on the final drive of last weekend's loss to the 49ers, but coach Kliff Kingsbury has since said that he's "hopeful" the second-year signal-caller will be available Week 17. If Murray is indeed able to handle at least limited reps to begin the practice week, it will bode well for his chances of facing the Rams on Sunday.
Dec 28, 2020
Injury news optimistic
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that he's "hopeful" Murray (lower leg) will "be in position to play" against the Rams in Week 17, Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kingsbury didn't provide more specifics of Murray's injury, per Zimmerman, other than calling it a lower leg issue. The second-year pro suffered the injury on the final drive of Saturday's 20-12 loss to the 49ers, and though it initially appeared worrisome, it now looks like he's avoided a severed issue. Arizona requires a win over the Rams on Sunday for any chance of getting into the playoffs, so Murray will no doubt do his best to suit up. Of course, if he's not at full health it could impede his vaunted scrambling abilities.
Dec 26, 2020
Seemingly escapes severe injury
Murray (leg), who suffered an injury on the last drive of Saturday's 20-12 loss to the 49ers and stayed down for several moments, is expected to be okay, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Murray was leg-whipped and appeared to be in some pain before being helped off the field by teammates and staff, though he stayed on the sideline rather than going to the locker room. Before the injury, he struggled while completing 31 of 50 pass attempts for 247 yards (4.9 yards per attempt) with one interception and no touchdowns. He added 75 yards on eight carries but also took three sacks in this disappointing performance. Murray will certainly undergo testing over the next couple of days to determine the severity of the issue, but as of right now he should be expected to suit up for next Sunday's regular-season finale against the Rams.
Dec 20, 2020
Notches new career high in yardage
Murray completed 27 of 36 passing attempts for 406 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while carrying eight times for 29 yards and another touchdown in Sunday's 33-26 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Murray completed 75 percent of his passes and averaged a stellar 11.3 yards per attempt as he notched a new career high in yardage. He completed five passes of 25 yards or longer and connected with DeAndre Hopkins for the decisive 20-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Murray, who averaged just 195.7 yards per game over the last three while struggling through a shoulder issue, has seemingly gotten back on track. He will look to build on this effort next Saturday against the 49ers.
Dec 13, 2020
Modest numbers in easy win
Murray completed 24 of 35 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Giants. He added 47 yards on 13 rushing attempts.
ANALYSIS
Arizona's offense has struggled near the goal line recently, and those issues continued in this game, as Murray capped the team's opening drive with a fourth-down incompletion from New York's 1-yard line. He finally guided the offense across the goal line on Arizona's fourth red-zone possession of the first half, finding Dan Arnold in the back of the end zone with a rainbow from seven yards out. New York's defense did a good job of limiting Murray's running lanes, but it was still encouraging to see him come within one rushing attempt of his season high after logging only five in each of the previous three games. The dual-threat quarterback has a 23:10 TD:INT to go with 10 rushing scores heading into a Week 15 home date with the Eagles.
Dec 6, 2020
Tosses three TDs in loss
Murray completed 21 of 39 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 38-28 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
While he found the end zone three times with his arm, it was otherwise another disappointing effort from Murray, as his INT was taken the other way for a 35-yard TD by Troy Hill late in the fourth quarter as the Cards were trying to mount a comeback. Perhaps more distressingly for anyone with fantasy shares in the second-year QB, he once again produced little on the ground, gaining only 15 rushing yards on five carries. Until his shoulder is closer to 100 percent, Murray's scrambling opportunities will likely remain capped, giving him shaky value heading into Week 14's clash with a Giants defense that just stifled Russell Wilson.
Dec 3, 2020
Logs full practice
Murray (right shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is tending to an injury to his right throwing shoulder, which capped his practice reps Wednesday. That said, he handled all of them one day later, allowing him to gear up for Sunday's matchup against a Rams pass defense that has mostly contained opposing quarterbacks this season (203.5 yards given up per game, third in the NFL).
Dec 2, 2020
Puts in limited practice
Murray (right shoulder) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray injured his throwing shoulder during a Week 11 loss at Seattle. In the ensuing week of prep, he logged limited showings on the first two injury reports before practicing in full last Friday and being cleared to play this past Sunday in New England. Murray continued his streak of playing every offensive snaps in the contest, but he also fell shy of 200 yards passing for the third occasion and didn't record a TD of any type for the first time this season. Assuming he follows a similar path through practice this week, he'll look to rebound Sunday versus the Rams.
Nov 29, 2020
No TDs in Week 12 loss
Murray completed 23 of 34 passes for 170 yards and an interception while adding five carries for 31 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Murray had a would-be touchdown to KeeSean Johnson just before halftime ruled short on replay, and the Cardinals ended up going without points on the drive after another tough spot went against them on the next play. Tipped passes have been a problem recently for the diminutive quarterback, and he was intercepted on such a play in the third quarter, leading to New England's go-ahead touchdown on the ensuing possession. Murray was held to fewer than 200 passing yards for the third time this season and this is the first time he failed to find the end zone. Bouncing back from this season-worst performance won't be easy with the stingy Rams defense coming to town in Week 13.
Nov 27, 2020
Cleared to play
Murray (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray upgraded to full participation at Friday's practice after logging limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. It's still possible the AC joint injury has some impact on his performance, but the Cardinals don't seem too worried about it, nor did Murray when he was asked about his shoulder after last week's loss to Seattle. He's locked in as one of the top fantasy option at QB, with his running ability creating A+ upside even when Murray is imperfect as a passer.
Nov 27, 2020
Should play Sunday
Cardinals GM Steve Keim expects Murray (shoulder) to play in Sunday's game against the Patriots, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray downplayed the impact of an AC joint injury in his throwing shoulder after last Thursday's loss to the Seahawks, but he's been limited in practice so far this week. It sounds like he's on track to play, even if his arm strength won't quite be at the usual level.
Nov 26, 2020
Limited again Thursday
Murray (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray toughed out an AC joint injury in his right throwing shoulder during last Thursday's loss at Seattle, but he still managed 269 yards and two touchdowns through the air. On the ground, though, he recorded season lows with five carries for 15 yards. With back-to-back capped practices to begin Week 12 prep, he doesn't seem to be in danger of missing Sunday's game at New England. Friday's injury report could clarify his status.
Nov 25, 2020
Limited in practice Wednesday
Murray (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals are managing Murray's practice reps due to an AC joint injury inhis right shoulder sustained during last Thursday's loss to the Seahawks, but the team hasn't yet offered any hints that the second-year quarterback is in any real danger of missing time. As long as Murray is able to continue practicing in at least a limited capacity, he should have a good shot at suiting up against the Patriots on Sunday. Given Murray's dangerous scrambling abilities, though, it could pose a significant issue for Arizona's scheme if he has to try and avoid taking many hits to his shoulder.
Nov 24, 2020
Works out on side at practice
Murray (shoulder) worked out on a side field away from his healthy teammates during Tuesday's practice session, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is still recovering from the AC joint injury to his right shoulder that he suffered in last week's loss to the Seahawks, but at this stage, the issue isn't expected to sideline him for the Cardinals' Nov. 29 game in New England. The Cardinals won't release their first official Week 12 injury report until Wednesday, at which point the extent of Murray's participation in practice will be known.
Nov 20, 2020
Not too worried about shoulder
Murray suffered an AC joint injury in his throwing shoulder during Thursday's loss to Seattle, but the Cardinals expect him to be fine for their next game, a Week 12 matchup with the Patriots on Nov. 29, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was checked out by the medical staff at least once or twice during Thursday's game, but he never missed a snap and still managed to throw for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns. While a lack of rushing production made it his worst performance of the season from a fantasy standpoint, Murray downplayed his shoulder injury after the contest, simply saying "I'm good" when reporters asked him about it, per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website.
Nov 19, 2020
Productive fantasy effort in loss
Murray completed 29 of 42 passes for 269 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Cardinals' 28-21 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night. He also rushed five times for 15 yards.
ANALYSIS
Murray's ledger ultimately corroborates a mistake-free effort, but he was still directly involved in a couple of plays that proved pivotal to the Seahawks' win. The 23-year-old signal-caller was whistled for intentional grounding deep in his own end on the first play of an early fourth-quarter drive with Arizona trailing by just two points, and J.R. Sweezy was subsequently whistled for holding in the end zone a play later, resulting in a safety. Murray also took a sack at Seattle's 33-yard line on 4th-and-10 with 38 seconds remaining, a play in which he failed to feel the pressure and step up into what was a clean pocket. Murray otherwise kept his squad on the comeback trail throughout the night and connected with Dan Arnold and Chase Edmonds for his pair of scoring tosses. Murray now has multiple touchdown throws in four of his last five contests heading into a Week 12 road interconference matchup against the Patriots on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Nov 15, 2020
Last-minute heroics against Bills
Murray completed 22 of 32 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown with one interception, and carried the ball 11 times for 61 yards and two more TDs, in Sunday's 32-30 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The one touchdown pass immediately went down as one of the greatest plays in Cardinals history -- on the final play of the game, Murray avoided pressure and heaved a 43-yard hail mary into the end zone that DeAndre Hopkins came down with despite triple coverage. The second-year QB already has 10 rushing touchdowns through nine games in addition to his impressive numbers through the air, and Murray figures to pad his totals further in Week 11 against a porous Seahawks defense.
Nov 8, 2020
Accounts for four TDs in loss
Murray completed 21 of 26 pass attempts for 283 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Dolphins. He also carried 11 times for 106 yards and another touchdown in the 34-31 loss.
ANALYSIS
The defeat was no fault of Murray's, as he averaged a healthy 10.9 yards per attempt and completed 81 percent of his passes. He threw touchdown passes to three different receivers and added another one on the ground as he racked up a new career high in rushing yards. Perhaps his only misstep was a fumble that was returned for a touchdown on the first drive of the game, which ultimately made the difference in a narrow loss. Coming off perhaps his most complete performance of the season, Murray will look to keep it up next Sunday against the Bills.
Oct 26, 2020
Leads team to victory with 4 scores
Murray completed 34 of 48 pass attempts for 360 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while adding 14 carries for 67 yards and another touchdown in Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Murray put the team on his back in a crucial NFC West showdown and outdueled early MVP candidate Russell Wilson on a national stage. The 2019 first-overall pick continues to make strides as a passer following a promising rookie campaign, posting a 66.9 completion percentage, 2,207 passing yards and a 13:7 TD:INT ratio. But what really sets Murray apart as a fantasy signal-caller has been his prowess with his legs. The 23-year-old has taken over the title as the league's top rushing quarterback from 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson, leading all quarterbacks with 71 rush attempts, 437 yards and seven rushing touchdowns through seven games. Fantasy owners will have to find a one-game replacement for Murray as the Cardinals are on a bye, but the dual-threat quarterback will be back in action against the Dolphins in Week 9.
Oct 20, 2020
Three TDs in hometown return
Murray completed nine of 24 pass attempts for 188 yards and two touchdowns, adding 74 rushing yards and one rushing TD on 10 carries during Monday's 38-10 win against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
After winning three state titles for nearby Allen High School, Murray made his first trip to Cowboys Stadium as a pro. The 23-year-old signal-caller may have completed a career-low nine passes during the contest, but his 82.4 QBR demonstrates the true on-field contributions he was capable of making. In addition to another electrifying performance on the ground, Murray connected with Christian Kirk for an 80-yard TD at the 4:42 mark of the second quarter, and he also found DeAndre Hopkins for a 60-yard gain on his first completion of the second half. Murray has averaged 1.7 passing TDs per game and one rushing TD per game as the Cardinals prepare for a Week 7 matchup against Seattle's 19th-ranked scoring defense.
Oct 11, 2020
Sets new career high in win
Murray completed 27 of 37 passes for a career-high 380 yards and one touchdown with one interception, adding 31 rushing yards and a TD on nine carries, in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The Cardinals found the end zone in every quarter as Murray kept the offense humming, capping his afternoon with two long bombs to DeAndre Hopkins that accounted for 82 yards and a TD. Murray is only the third quarterback in history to throw for at least five touchdowns and run for at least five touchdowns through his team's first five games of the season, joining Cam Newton and Kordell Stewart, and he should be able to pad those totals significantly in Week 6 against a reeling Cowboys defense.

Three touchdown passes
Murray completed 24 of 31 pass attempts for 133 yards and three touchdowns in Week 4 against Carolina. He added 78 rushing yards.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't deliver a gaudy yardage total, averaging only 4.3 yards per attempt. However, he did salvage his performance by recording at least three passing touchdowns for the first time this season -- each of which came within three yards of the end zone. Positively, Murray remained dangerous with his legs, as he broke off a 48-yard run to highlight his third performance this season with over 50 rushing yards. Murray should be in line to bounce back through the air in Week 5, as the Cardinals will take on the Jets.

Commits three turnovers in loss
Murray completed 23 of 35 pass attempts for 270 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions Sunday against the Lions. He also carried five times for 29 yards and a touchdown in the 26-23 loss.
ANALYSIS
Murray completed 66 percent of his passes, but two interceptions on his opening three drives put his team in an early hole. He completed a pair of touchdowns to Andy Isabella and scored his fourth rushing touchdown in three games, but it ultimately wasn't enough to win after his early struggles. Murray had been excellent as both a passer and a runner in the first two games of the season and will look to get back on track next Sunday against the Panthers.

Run wild against Washington
Murray completed 26 of 38 passes for 286 yards with a touchdown and an interception while rushing for 67 yards and two TDs on eight carries in Sunday's 30-15 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
The second-year pivot once again did a lot of damage with his legs, rushing for a 14-yard score at the end of the first quarter and then a 21-yard TD early in the fourth, but he was nearly as impressive with his arm, finding both Andy Isabella and Christian Kirk on receptions of longer than 40 yards in addition to plenty of completions to DeAndre Hopkins and Larry Fitzgerald underneath. Murray appears to be taking a huge step forward in his development this season, and he could be poised for another big game in Week 3 against a Lions defense that couldn't contain either Aaron Rodgers or Mitchell Trubisky in its first two contests.

Orchestrates win over 49ers
Murray completed 26 of 40 passes for one touchdown and one interception during Sunday's 24-20 win over the 49ers. He also carried 13 times for 91 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Murray struggled to complete passes at times against a tough San Francisco defense, averaging just 5.8 yards per attempt. He still completed 65 percent of his passes, however, and notably connected 14 times with new wideout weapon DeAndre Hopkins. Murray was also electric as a runner, leading the team in rushing and averaging a gaudy 7.0 yards per attempt thanks to a 22-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter. All in all it was an excellent season debut for Murray, who should be considered a strong fantasy option for next Sunday's home matchup with Washington.

Adds muscle in offseason
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Murray put on some weight during the offseason, Mike Jurecki of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Listed at 5-foot-10, 207 pounds, Murray has the same approximate body type as division rival Russell Wilson. The second-year pro may be the shortest starting quarterback in the league, but his ability to withstand hits doesn't seem to be a major point of concern. While their offensive line remains a potential weak point, the Cardinals could take a big step forward on offense with DeAndre Hopkins climbing aboard for Year 2 of the Kingsbury/Murray project.

Gets another weapon
The Cardinals provided Murray with another proven wide receiver following the acquisition of DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Despite having few reliable WR options beyond Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk and an uneven ground game until the midseason addition of Kenyan Drake in 2019, Murray completed 64 percent of his passes en route to 3,722 yards (15th in the NFL), 20 touchdowns (21st) and 12 interceptions (tied for 11th) as a rookie. Murray also ripped off 544 yards at 5.8 YPC -- both good for second behind last year's MVP Lamar Jackson -- and added four more scores on the ground. It's safe to consider that stat line as Murray's floor, and the 22-year-old's ceiling has been boosted with Hopkins, a perennial 1,000-yard receiver who's averaged 1.1 20-plus-yard catches per game in seven pro seasons, on board.

Wins Offensive Rookie honors
Murray was voted AP Offensive Rookie of the Year on Saturday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray lived up to his billing as the first overall pick in the 2019 draft and has a bright future ahead of him after taking home this award. He's a premier asset in dynasty formats and will be on the radar in redraft leagues as well as he continues to mature as the Cardinals' starting quarterback.

MRI yields promising results
The MRI that Murray underwent Monday on his right hamstring injury revealed only a minor strain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for Murray, he avoided a significant injury after exiting in the third quarter of Sunday's 27-13 win over the Seahawks, but the Cardinals still intend to take a wait-and-see approach with the signal-caller in advance of their Dec. 29 regular-season finale versus the Rams. Coach Kliff Kingsbury noted earlier Monday that Murray will play in Week 17 if healthy enough to do so, so the rookie's participation in practices Wednesday through Friday bears a close eye. Brett Hundley is the next man up on the depth chart if the Cardinals elect to hold Murray out against Los Angeles.

Slated for MRI
Coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed Monday that Murray will undergo an MRI to gain more information about the hamstring injury he sustained in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Seahawks, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Before departing in the third quarter, Murray had been enjoying a productive day in the Cardinals' eventual upset victory, finishing with 11 completions on 18 attempts for 118 yards and a touchdown while adding 40 yards on six carries. The 5-9-1 Cardinals don't have much at stake in their Week 17 matchup with the Rams, though Kingsbury noted that Murray will start if healthy enough to do so, as Arizona believes the extra reps against a divisional opponent will prove beneficial for the quarterback's long-term development. The Cardinals should have a better idea on Murray's status for the regular-season finale after the results of the MRI are read, but Brett Hundley would step in under center if the 22-year-old isn't available against Los Angeles.

Hurts hamstring Sunday
Murray suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game in Seattle, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In between third-quarter possessions, the Cardinals training staff examined Murray before making a call on his health. If he's unable to return, he'll end the day with 118 yards and one TD on 11-for-18 passing to go with six carries for 40 yards. Veteran Brett Hundley has replaced Murray under center for the Cardinals.

Set to start Sunday
Murray (hamstring), who is listed as questionable on the official injury report, will start Sunday against the Rams, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Murray was able to log a full practice participation Friday despite the questionable tag, so this makes sense. Still, fantasy owners will want to check his status before the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 29, 2019
Late addition to injury report
Murray was added to the Friday injury report with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Mike Jurecki of the Cardinals' official site report.
ANALYSIS
Murray's ability to maintain full practice participation Friday suggests the injury isn't too serious, but the timing nonetheless creates some concern. A 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff is suboptimal for fantasy managers, limiting the available alternatives if Murray does end up as a game-time decision. Brett Hundley is the backup quarterback in Arizona.
