Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Mariota will start Sunday's game against the Giants and that Jayden Daniels (elbow) is ruled out.

Mariota started in place of an injured Daniels from Week 8 to Week 13, a five-game stretch in which he averaged 186.6 passing yards and 30.8 rushing yards per contest, totaling six touchdowns and four interceptions. Daniels' return to action versus the Vikings in Week 14 was brief, as he was forced out in the third quarter due to an elbow injury. Entering in relief, Mariota completed two of four passes for 30 yards and an INT versus Minnesota, while also rushing twice for seven yards and losing one fumble. While Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Daniels' current elbow injury is not a long-term concern and that he's suffered no structural setbacks, it's entirely possible Washington could opt to prioritize the franchise signal-caller's health and field Mariota under center for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

Mariota completed two of four passes for 30 yards and an interception in Sunday's 31-0 loss to the Vikings. He added seven rushing yards on two carries and also lost a fumble.

Jayden Daniels returned to action in Week 14 but didn't last long, appearing to aggravate an injury to his left elbow in the third quarter and quickly being ruled out for the rest of the contest. Mariota took over the offense the rest of the way but had no more success against the Minnesota defense than Daniels did. There's no indication yet on Daniels' status for a Week 15 tilt against the Giants, but with the Commanders at 3-10 and playing for nothing but draft slotting, it's certainly possible the organization will decide to protect its franchise QB from any further damage and hand the reins to Mariota for the remainder of the season.

Mariota will serve as Washington's backup quarterback Sunday against the Vikings, as John Keim of ESPN.com reports that Jayden Daniels (elbow) will start.

Daniels will return for his first action since dislocating his elbow Nov. 9. Mariota has seen extensive action due to Daniels' injury woes in 2025, as the veteran backup has appeared in eight of Washington's 12 games, including six starts. Mariota has posted a 9:6 TD:INT but picked up only one win.

Mariota completed 28 of 50 passes for 294 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 27-26 overtime loss to the Broncos. He added 10 rushes for 55 yards.

Mariota turned in a valiant effort in the loss, logging a career-high in pass attempts while racking up his most passing yards in a game since Week 3 of the 2019 season. While he wasn't particularly efficient, Mariota delivered several splash plays, highlighted by six completions of at least 15 yards and a rush attempt that went for a gain of 19. This marked Mariota's third straight start in the absence of Jayden Daniels (elbow), and he's done an admirable job by maintaining a 5:1 TD:INT. The return of Terry McLaurin also improves Mariota's outlook in a Week 14 matchup against the Vikings, should Daniels remain sidelined.

Even coming out of the Week 12 bye, Daniels isn't quite ready to return to the lineup, so Mariota will make his sixth start of the season. Mariota has added just 63 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. He's not a recommended fantasy target against Denver's elite defense.

Mariota completed 20 of 30 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Sunday's 16-13 overtime loss to the Dolphins. He added 49 rushing yards on four carries.

The veteran QB looked sharp early in the game, but his play seemed to slip after he briefly left late in the third quarter to be checked for a concussion. While he cleared the concussion check, his only turnover of the game came on Washington's first play of OT, when his pass to Zach Ertz got intercepted by Jack Jones to set up Miami's game-winning field goal. Mariota has a lackluster 7:5 TD:INT in his seven appearances this season, and with the Commanders on bye next week, there's at least a chance Jayden Daniels (elbow) could be back under center in Week 13 against the Broncos.

Mariota returned to Sunday's game against the Dolphins in Madrid in the fourth quarter after clearing an evaluation for a concussion.

Mariota was forced out of the game with 3:41 left in the third quarter after taking a hard fall to the turf on an incomplete pass. Backup Josh Johnson stepped in to play one snap before Washington punted the ball away, but after passing all concussion testing, Mariota was cleared to re-enter the game on the Commanders' first possession of the fourth quarter.

Mariota is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Dolphins in Madrid after he was forced out in the third quarter and was evaluated for a concussion, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Mariota was brought down hard on the turf after uncorking an incomplete pass with 3:41 remaining in the third quarter. Josh Johnson stepped in at quarterback to finish out the drive before the Commanders punted the ball away. After emerging from the Commanders' medical tent following his evaluation, Mariota was seen throwing the football on the sideline, per Keim. Mariota thus looks like he'll have a chance to return to the game in the fourth quarter, but if not, he'll finish the day having completed 16 of 22 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown to go with five yards on three carries.

Mariota completed 16 of 22 passes for 213 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Lions. He added five rushes for 22 yards.

The Commanders ran a relatively conservative offense, but Mariota performed well when given a chance. He completed three long passes of at least 30 yards while also delivering a pair of short touchdown passes. Mariota has also topped 20 rushing yards in every game in which he's attempted a pass this season. He'll draw a relatively favorable Week 12 matchup against the Dolphins, with Jayden Daniels (elbow) remaining sidelined.

Mariota is slated to start at quarterback the Commanders' Week 10 game against the Lions with Jayden Daniels considered out indefinitely after sustaining a dislocated left elbow in Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Mariota came on in relief and handed off on all seven of his snaps Sunday as the Commanders wound out the clock on the blowout loss following Daniels' departure with 7:39 remaining in the fourth quarter. Though a recovery timeline for Daniels won't be established until he undergoes an MRI on Monday, the injury to his non-throwing elbow appears likely to result in him landing on injured reserve and could cost him the rest of the season. Mariota had previously made three starts in place of Daniels when the second-year signal-caller missed Weeks 3 and 4 due to a sprained knee and Week 8 due to a hamstring injury. In those contests, Mariota completed 52 of 78 pass attempts (66.6 percent) for 576 yards (7.4 YPA), four touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 88 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Mariota did not log a stat after entering Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks late in the fourth quarter.

Mariota entered the blowout loss midway through the fourth quarter after Jayden Daniels suffered what appeared to be a significant arm injury. Mariota exclusively handed the ball off after entering the contest, though he'll likely be in line to start for the next handful of games -- if not the rest of the campaign. Across three starts this season, Mariota has has a 4:4 TD:INT while averaging 7.4 yards per attempt.

Mariota completed 21 of 30 passes for 213 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while adding eight rushes for 28 yards in the Commanders' 28-7 loss to the Chiefs on Monday night. He also committed a fumble that was recovered by Washington.

Mariota put together another respectable stat line while filling in for Jayden Daniels (hamstring) for the third time this season, but he ultimately couldn't consistently move the Commanders down the field and short-circuited a pair of drives himself with interceptions. Mariota's first pick came on the opening possession on a pass that deflected off Deebo Samuel and landed in the hands of Mike Danna at the Chiefs' 22-yard line, while the second turnover unfolded at midfield with only 22 seconds remaining and the game well in hand for Kansas City. The veteran backup did connect with the returning Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) from 11 yards out just before halftime for his one scoring toss, and Mariota would get the call against a second consecutive tough defense in Week 9 if Daniels isn't healthy enough to suit up for a Sunday night home matchup against the Seahawks.

Mariota will start Monday's game in Kansas City after coach Dan Quinn ruled out Jayden Daniels (hamstring) on Thursday.

Mariota entered in place of Daniels early in the second half of this past Sunday's eventual loss at Dallas, and the latter's low-grade right hamstring strain will keep him out at least one contest. Per Jhabvala, Jayden Daniels is dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain and is not on track to get the start versus Kansas City. Mariota thus represents a Week 8 fantasy lineup option for those who roster Daniels or who are otherwise in need of QB help, with six teams on bye this week.

Mariota completed four of 10 pass attempts for 63 yards and an interception while rushing twice for 34 yards in Sunday's 44-22 loss to Dallas.

Mariota stepped in for Jayden Daniels (hamstring) in the third quarter after Washington's starter exited the contest with an apparent hamstring injury. The 31-year-old Mariota flashed his mobility on a team-high 25-yard scramble, but he didn't do much else after entering the contest in the second half of a blowout loss. Daniels is set to undergo an MRI on his injured hamstring Monday, which should shed more light on the starter's availability for Week 8. If Daniels is unable to go, Mariota would become an enticing stream option against the Chiefs next Monday.

Mariota completed 16 of 27 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Falcons. He added 20 rushing yards on two carries. He also threw a two-point conversion to Zach Ertz.

Making his second straight start in place of Jayden Daniels (knee), Mariota and the Commanders' offense started slowly but eventually caught fire, only for the team's defense to be unable to come up with a stop when it needed one. Mariota tossed a five-yard TD to Luke McCaffrey late in the second quarter and a 24-yard score to Deebo Samuel in the fourth, while also leading three drives that ended in field goals in the second half. Daniels appears to be on track to return in Week 5, but if Mariota needs to take the reins again, he'll get a tough road matchup against the Chargers.

Mariota will start Sunday's game at Atlanta.

Mariota completed 15 of 21 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday's 41-24 win over the Raiders, adding 40 rushing yards and a TD on six carries. He seems comfortable in Kliff Kingsbury's offense and still moves well at age 31, making him far more useful for fantasy than a typical backup QB that's filling in for an injured starter. Mariota will face one of his former teams this Sunday, after Jayden Daniels missed Friday's practice and was ruled out not long after.

He did lose a fumble, but otherwise Mariota has a very efficient performance under center in place of Jayden Daniels (knee). Mariota opened the scoring by running in a two-yard TD on the Commanders' first possession, then he iced the big win by connecting with Luke McCaffrey on a 43-yard catch-and-run late in the fourth quarter. Daniels may miss only the one game, but if Mariota is helming the offense again in Week 4, he'll be facing a Falcons defense stinging from a 30-0 loss to the Panthers.

Mariota will replace Jayden Daniels (knee) as Washington's starting quarterback Sunday against the Raiders, Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com reports.

Daniel returned to practice Friday as a limited participant, suggesting he may be ready for Week 4 at Atlanta on Sun., Sept. 28. In the meantime, Mariota will try to replicate his level of play from last season, when he completed 34 of 44 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns, with 92 yards and another TD on the ground. While unlikely to maintain that type of efficiency, Mariota does seem to be a good fit in Kliff Kingsbury's offense, and with enough running ability to offer fantasy value even if his passing stats are merely average.

Mariota may be tasked with leading the Commanders offense Sunday versus the Raiders with Jayden Daniels dealing with a knee sprain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Daniels was seen limping in the final minutes of last Thursday's loss in Green Bay, and after an MRI and a follow-up appointment with the team physician, a diagnosis has come to light. His status thus will be one to watch as the week continues, as DNPs from Daniels could signal that Mariota is in line for a spot start. In parts of three games last season with the Commanders and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Mariota completed 34 of 44 passes for 364 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions and had 18 carries for 92 yards and one TD.

Mariota (Achilles) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Mariota spent much of training camp and the preseason managing Achilles tendinitis, but as expected, he's ready to rock for Week 1. The veteran signal-caller will operate as Jayden Daniels' backup versus the Giants on Sunday, while Josh Johnson handles emergency quarterback duties.

Mariota made his return to the practice field Wednesday, per Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site, but his activity level still appears to be limited. The veteran backup quarterback has already missed both Washington's preseason affairs to date, and it looks like he could again be held out of Saturday's exhibition finale against Baltimore even if the expectation is that he'll be fully healthy in time for Week 1.

Mariota will miss a second preseason game while working through a lower leg strain. Per Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site, Jayden Daniels and most of the other offensive starters will play "a few series" during Monday's game, but with Mariota sidelined, Josh Johnson and Sam Hartman should handle most of the snaps following Daniels' exit.

It sounds like Mariota's injury is minor enough that he could be available to suit up for preseason action versus the Bengals on Aug. 18.

Mariota is re-signing with the Commanders on a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Mariota's combination of experience, mobility and scheme familiarity makes him a sensible backup for Jayden Daniels, who didn't miss any games during his rookie season but left two contests early (once because of an injury, and once Week 18). Mariota played well both times, throwing for multiple touchdowns and completing more than three-thirds of his passes without turning the ball over. He might even push for low-end-QB1 fantasy value if Daniel were to miss time in 2025.

Mariota completed 34 of 44 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns during the 2024 regular season, then took two rush attempts for one yard in two playoff games.

Mariota never made a start but got the majority of playing time in two regular-season games and led the Commanders to victory both times. He then got two snaps in short-yardage situations during the playoffs, converting one and getting stuffed on the other. The 31-year-old isn't under contract for 2025, but it won't come as any surprise if he re-signs with the Commanders to back up Jayden Daniels again.

Mariota completed 15 of 18 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 23-19 win over the Cowboys. He added five rushes for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Mariota played the entire second half of the contest Sunday, filling in for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels (leg) who left the game out of precaution. The veteran played well, leading the Commanders on a touchdown drive immediately after entering the game. With Daniels' leg soreness being downplayed by head coach Dan Quinn following the game, it appears that Mariota will resume his duties as Daniels' backup when the Commanders visit the Buccaneers for a wild-card round matchup.

Mariota completed 18 of 23 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 40-7 win over the Panthers. He added 11 rushes for 34 yards.

Mariota was forced into the game after just one offensive possession after Jayden Daniels (ribs) departed. He led the Commanders' offense effectively, highlighted by a pair of touchdown drives to close the first half and begin the second half. On those two possessions, Mariota combined to complete 10 of 11 passes for 119 yards and a pair of touchdown throws. While he benefitted from a very favorable matchup, Mariota showed a surprising command of the offense in relief. However, he'll face a much tougher test if called upon for a Week 8 matchup against the Bears.

Mariota landed on injured reserve just before the season opener due to a chest injury, which was reclassified as a pectoral issue during Week 5 prep after the Commanders designated him for return Wednesday and were required to list him on the practice report. He remained questionable for Sunday even after the team activated him Saturday, but now that he's deemed active, he'll act as the top backup to starting quarterback and rookie sensation Jayden Daniels.

It would seem counterintuitive to activate a player off injured reserve and then not play them, especially well within the 21-day practice window, so it seems likely the veteran quarterback is set to operate as the backup come Sunday. Mariota will likely push out Jeff Driskel from the backup spot as a result.

Mariota (chest) was a full participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Mariota opened the regular season on injured reserve after injuring his chest in the leadup to Week 1. The 30-year-old quarterback has been a full participant in all three practices this week after he was designated to return to practice Wednesday. While he does carry a questionable tag into Sunday's game, Mariota appears to be trending towards being activated off IR and serving as Jayden Daniels' backup. If Mariota is activated off IR, that will likely lead to Sam Hartman being cut from the active roster while Jeff Driskel serves as the third/emergency quarterback.

While the backup quarterback will miss his second preseason matchup in a row, he should be back to practice next week in preparation for Washington's season opener against the Bucs on Sept. 8. Although fellow Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels has been announced the starter ahead of the season, Mariota's health is still relevant considering he'll serve as the rookie second overall pick's primary backup to open 2024.

Mariota seems entrenched as Washington's backup behind rookie first-round quarterback Jayden Daniels, but for the time being he'll need to focus on getting healthy. During Washington's preseason opener last week, Mariota took the field on the team's second drive, after Daniels left the field. With Mariota and Sam Hartman (shoulder) both dealing with injuries, the Commanders inked Trace McSorley on Thursday.

Mariota will be joined by fellow Heisman winner and No. 2 overall draft pick Jayden Daniels in Washington's QB room.

The incoming rookie was a four-year college starter (five if you count a COVID-shortened season) and is already 23 years old, making him a strong bet to quickly take over as QB1 in Washington. Mariota presumably knew the Commanders were likely to use the No. 2 overall pick on a quarterback when he signed with them in March, but the team at least traded Sam Howell to Seattle, leaving the 30-year-old unchallenged for a backup role. It remains to be seen how the Commanders divide reps between Daniels and Mariota this spring and into summer.

Mariota is in line to sign a one-year contract with the Commanders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After spending a year as Jalen Hurts' backup in Philadelphia, the 30-year-old Mariota will join a Washington team that has Sam Howell under contract for two more years and owns the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This signing would seem to hint at a desire to either trade Howell or move down in the draft. In any case, Mariota seems like a good fit with new Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who tends to rely heavily on shotgun formations and avoid playcalls with slow-developing routes. Mariota's one-year contract reportedly has a base value of $6 million and can go up to $10 million with incentives.

Mariota appeared in just three games as the Eagles' backup quarterback this season, completing 15 of 23 passes for 164 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

All but three of Mariota's passes came in Week 18. Mariota also added a brief appearance in the Eagles' 32-9 playoff loss to the Bucs, handing off twice at the end of the game to run out the clock with the result already decided. Given that Mariota was stuck looking for a backup job prior to this season, and given that he didn't get the chance to add anything meaningful to his resume this year, he'll presumably be stuck as a backup again next fall.

Mariota completed 13 of 20 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown with an interception after replacing Jalen Hurts late in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Giants. He added 46 rushing yards on six carries.

The veteran QB entered the game with the Eagles already in a 24-0 hole, and Mariota promptly threw a pick on his first pass attempt before halftime. He did lead a couple scoring drives in the second half, but Philly never seemed close to staging a real rally. It's the most action Mariota has seen all season, and while the 30-year-old is a free agent in the offseason, he seems to be a good fit with the Eagles as Hurts' backup and could return on another affordable contract.

Mariota played five of the Eagles' 72 snaps on offense and completed two of three pass attempts for 16 yards while carrying twice for six yards in Sunday's 42-19 loss to the 49ers.

For the first time all season, Mariota was summoned from the bench with just over 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter while starting quarterback Jalen Hurts was evaluated for a concussion. Mariota led the Eagles to a pair of first downs before Hurts was cleared to return to the game. Assuming Hurts makes it through the upcoming practice week unscathed, Mariota will remain in a backup role for the Eagles' matchup with the Cowboys this Sunday.

Mariota is only expected to play one series before giving way to Tanner McKee, and eventually Ian Brook. The Oregon product has struggled at times learning his new team's offense during training camp, but he's fully expected to remain the team's No. 2 option behind Jalen Hurts this season.

Mariota started the Eagles' 18-18 preseason tie with the Browns on Thursday night and completed nine of 17 passes for 86 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed once for five yards.

Mariota needs game reps in his new team's offense, so his extended stint in Thursday's contest makes sense. The veteran signal-caller was sharper in Philadelphia's preseason opener versus the Ravens while completing seven of 11 passes, but Mariota remains a lock for the role of Jalen Hurts' top backup come the regular season.

Mariota has gotten off to a slow start during training camp, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.

Mariota has thrown four interceptions in the first week of training camp. However, it appears that's being chalked up to him being on his third team in three seasons. According to teammate Boston Scott, "He's still learning the playbook, but he's a really smart guy. It's gonna take time, but you can see the tools for sure." Mariota will continue to work to improve and learn the playbook, as he adjusts to his new role and team, as Jalen Hurts' backup in Philadelphia.

Mariota signed a one-year contract with the Eagles this offseason after finishing last season with Atlanta on injured reserve with a knee injury. The deal will pay Mariota $5 million and could be worth up to $8 million with incentives. Mariota will slot in as the backup quarterback behind Pro Bowler Jalen Hurts.

The Falcons released Mariota (knee) on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Mariota's release has been expected, and frees up roughly $12 million in cap space for Atlanta. The 29-year-old ended the 2022 season on IR after having been benched for Desmond Ridder, ending his only campaign with the Falcons with a 15:9 TD:INT ratio through 13 appearances. Once fully recovered from his knee procedure, Mariota will likely draw interest from teams around the league as a veteran free agent quarterback option.

The Falcons placed Mariota (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Rookie Desmond Ridder will take over as the starter, backed up by recent signing Logan Woodside. Mariota, meanwhile, will undergo a procedure on his knee and will be ineligible for the final four weeks of the regular season.

Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mariota's knee procedure will happen next week, with a timetable for the veteran signal-caller's recovery yet to be outlined by the team.

Mariota was benched for rookie Desmond Ridder during Atlanta's Week 14 bye, and while Smith insists Ridder's promotion was performance-based, Mariota's injury likely played a role in that decision. Much like Mariota, Ridder presents a threat as a runner, but the Falcons are likely hoping the rookie third-round pick out of Cincinnati can provide enough of an upgrade in the passing game to keep the team alive in the NFC playoff picture over the final four weeks of the regular season.

Mariota completed 13 of 24 passes for 167 yards, a touchdown and an interception during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Pittsburgh. He also rushed three times for 17 yards.

Mariota targeted Drake London, who fished with six receptions on 12 targets for 95 yards, early and often, but Atlanta's passing game struggled once again, though Mariota was able to somewhat salvage his outing by connecting with MyCole Pruitt for a seven-yard score in the third quarter. However, the dual-threat quarterback failed to record at least 20 rushing yards, ending an eight-game streak reaching that plateau. He also threw a game-sealing interception to Minkah Fitzpatrick on the Falcons' final offensive possession. Overall, it was an underwhelming day for Mariota, who's emerged as a viable streaming option due to his production on the ground, but he'll look to get back on track when the Falcons return to action following their Week 14 bye.

Mariota completed 15 of 25 passes for 174 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Commanders. He added six rushes for 49 yards.

From a fantasy perspective, Mariota performed as expected thanks to work with his legs, as he's now topped 40 rushing yards in five of his last eight games. He also tossed a four-yard touchdown pass on a misdirection play midway through the second quarter. However, Mariota's performance left plenty to be desired, as he averaged only 7.0 yards per attempt and also threw an interception at the Commnanders' goal line with just over a minute remaining in the contest. Despite the uninspiring performance, Mariota is likely to remain Atlanta's starting quarterback so long as the team remains in playoff contention.

Mariota completed 13 of 20 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bears. He also rushed 13 times for 25 yards and an additional score.

Mariota threw a two-yard touchdown to Drake London on the Falcons' first drive of the game and gave Atlanta a 24-17 lead at the end of the third quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run. The quarterback didn't produce many yards, but he made plays when he needed to, avoided turnovers and found the end zone twice in a solid win over the Bears. Mariota continues to be a solid steaming option, but his overall production remains limited due to Atlanta's meager passing attack.

The Falcons intend to stick with Mariota as the starter at least as long as the team remains in playoff contention, Ian Rapoport reports.

Atlanta is coming off back-to-back losses with Mariota under center, but the team remains just one game out of contention for first place in the NFC South heading into Sunday's matchup against the Bears. Mariota's final numbers were solid overall, although he was under constant duress and was brought down five times. The veteran signal-caller connected with Drake London and KhaDarel Hodge on touchdowns of seven and 25 yards, respectively, but he took two of his sacks on the Falcons' last multi-play drive, snuffing out any hope of a comeback. Mariota's passing yardage total was actually his second highest since Week 3, but he's now been under 200 yards through the air in six of his last seven games. Mariota and the Falcons return home to take on the Bears in a Week 11 matchup a week from Sunday.

Mariota completed 12 of 23 passes for 129 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Falcons' 20-17 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He also rushed five times for 24 yards.

Mariota put up a typically modest performance through the air and couldn't quite replicate one of his more productive rushing performances. The veteran signal-caller couldn't do much after a successful first two drives that netted 145 yards and 10 points, with Atlanta's next four possessions resulting in punts and a fumble. Mariota was able to helm one more touchdown march in the third quarter that culminated in a Cordarrelle Paterson three-yard touchdown rush, but he ultimately finished with third sub-130-yard tally through the air in the last four games. Mariota will aim for much better production across the board in a Week 10 road matchup versus the Panthers on Thursday night.

Mariota completed 20 of 28 passes for 253 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's 37-34 win over the Panthers. He also rushed six times for 43 yards.

Mariota's second pass of the game was intercepted, but he bounced back and submitted an efficient performance through the air en route to a season-high 253 passing yards. The quarterback's dual-threat ability was also on display again as he rushed for at least 30 rushing yards for a fourth straight game, totaling 185 rushing yards during that stretch. Mariota's first touchdown was a well-designed play that left Kyle Pitts wide open for a two-yard score, but his second and third scores were nice throws that turned into big plays with great efforts from Tyler Allgeier and Damiere Byrd. Sunday's performance marked the veteran's best performance of the season, and he'll look to build off his success against the Chargers in Week 9.

Mariota completed eight of his 13 pass attempts for 124 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 35-17 loss to the Bengals. He added six rushes for 31 yards.

Atlanta remained dedicated to the run despite facing a large deficit for nearly the entire game, and Mariota has now attempted fewer than 20 passes in three of his last four games. Nearly all of his production came on a 75-yard touchdown pass to Damiere Byrd just before halftime. In addition to his limited production as a passer, Mariota was also bottled up as a rusher, as he entered the game having tallied at least 50 yards on the ground in consecutive matchups. The Falcons have shown a commitment to rushing the ball regardless of game script this season, which makes it difficult to trust Mariota or any of the team's pass catchers for consistent production.

Mariota submitted his cleanest performance of the season as he threw just one incompletion and didn't fumble for the first time during the campaign. It was the second straight contest that Mariota didn't turn the ball over, which may be a sign he's shaken the rust off after not playing regularly since the 2019 season. Mariota was sharp from the start Sunday and completed 13 straight passes to start the game, including a two-yard touchdown to MyCole Pruitt and a seven-yard score to Kyle Pitts. Mariota's dual-threat ability was also on full display as he used his speed to make big plays in the running game and gave the Falcons a 21-14 lead in the second quarter with a three-yard rushing score. This type of performance is exactly what Mariota can bring to Atlanta's offense, but he'll have to prove he can do it consistently. He'll look to maintain his strong play in Week 7 against the Bengals.

Mariota completed 14 of 25 passes for 147 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 21-15 loss to Tampa Bay. He also rushed seven times for 61 yards and didn't lose his only fumble.

After a stagnant start to the contest, Mariota and the Falcons offense got going in the second half and produced modest results. The key for Mariota on the day was zero turnovers after turning the ball over five times over his past three games. His dual-threat ability gives him a relatively high floor, but it appears the Falcons offense will be limited against top-tier defenses like Tampa Bay, especially when they are without Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) and Kyle Pitts (hamstring). Mariota salvaged his production by connecting with Olamide Zaccheaus late in the fourth quarter, but his overall production was far from elite.

Mariota got the win for his team, but he certainly did not help his fantasy managers with his final stat line. The former first-round pick was under duress all game by the Browns' elite pass rush unit. Mariota had been putting up strong fantasy results leading up to this near-negative game, so there is a chance for a bounce-back performance against the Buccaneers -- who are much tighter against opposing rushing attacks -- next Sunday.

Mariota completed 13 of 20 passes for 229 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 27-23 victory over the Seahawks. He added seven rushes for four yards and an additional score but fumbled twice, losing one.

Mariota capped off the Falcons' first offensive possession with a one-yard touchdown run and continued to move the ball efficiently throughout the first half. Atlanta scored on its first three drives of the game as Mariota connected with Kyle Pitts early and often. However, Mariota ended the half on a sour note by throwing an ill-advised pass that was picked off by Tariq Woolen on the final play before halftime. The disappointing part of his performance came in the form of three turnovers -- he lost a fumble in addition to his interceptions -- and his lack of production on the ground. Nevertheless, Mariota has shown the ability to lead the Falcons' offense effectively as they head into a Week 3 matchup against Seattle.

Mariota was efficient passing the ball and showcased his dual-threat ability during his Falcons debut, but Atlanta's offense struggled mightily in the red zone. Rookie first-round pick Drake London, who played despite an ankle injury, emerged as Mariota's go-to target and finished with team highs in targets (seven) receptions (five) and receiving yards (74). While Desmond Ridder was also effective, Mariota has reportedly been the more consistent quarterback in camp and should be the starting quarterback for the Falcons in Week 1.

Coach Arthur Smith said any Falcon who is healthy is in line to play in Monday's preseason outing at the Jets, a group that includes Mariota, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Smith relayed the news on Monday Night Countdown on ESPN. Mariota played one series in preseason Week 1 at Detroit, completing both passes for 36 yards and racking up 23 more yards on three carries, one of which resulted in a six-yard dive into the end zone. With Drake London (knee) and likely Bryan Edwards (shoulder) out Monday, Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson will be the name skill-position players available to Mariota.

Mariota continues to dominate first-team snaps in practice and has looked "crisper" and "more accurate" than rookie Desmond Ridder, ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein reports.

Mariota looks like one of the lesser Week 1 starters around the league, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be rapidly unseated by a rookie third-round pick. Then again, Mariota struggled to stay healthy when he was the start in Tennessee, and that was behind much better O-lines than what the Falcons have fielded in recent years. A two-year, $17.6 million contract with $7.5 million guaranteed has sparked rumors of a job battle between Carr and Mariota. The former Titan was quick to shoot down those rumors, but there's no way to spin it as a positive for Carr when his team brings in the highest-paid backup in the league. Carr may still have security for the Week 1 starting job, but he'll be looking over his shoulder if he struggles early in the season.

For now, Mariota slots in behind incumbent starter Derek Carr, but it's plausible that down the road, Mariota -- the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft -- could make a run at the Raiders' top job, if Carr experiences any on-field struggles or suffers an injury.

Mariota and the Raiders agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mariota is the first quarterback domino to fall in free agency, as the former Titan was brought in to push incumbent Derek Carr for the starting job. Mariota was looking for a fresh start after he was replaced by Ryan Tanehill in Week 7. The 26-year-old completed 95 of 160 passes for 1,203 yards along with a 7:2 TD:INT across seven games in 2019. The Raiders' quarterback competition will be as intriguing as any in the league heading into the 2020 season.

Mariota was benched after leading the team to a 2-4 record to begin the season. Though he avoided turnovers, he struggled to get the ball out in rhythm, taking 25 sacks in his short stint under center. Mariota is likely to hit the open market this offseason as his rookie contract has expired, and the team appears poised to commit to Ryan Tannehill as their starter in 2020. Though Mariota has disappointed relative to his status as the number two overall pick in the 2015 draft, he has shown flashes of promise and is still just 26 years old. He could sign with a quarterback needy team and immediately compete for a starting job.

Mariota (quad) does not carry an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Jaguars, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Through the Titans' first two games, Mariota has achieved a degree of fantasy utility by recording 402 passing yards and a 4:0 TD:INT ratio to go along with eight carries for 56 yards. He'll take aim Thursday at a Jacksonville defense that allowed 40 points to the Chiefs in Week 1, but tightened up this past Sunday in a 13-12 loss to the Texans.
