Marvin Mims Jr. Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Broncos vs Commanders game on Nov 30, 2025 with our National Football League injury report.Nov 17, 2025
Minimal involvement in win
Mims rushed once for two yards and failed to record a single target in Sunday's 22-19 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mims played 24 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps Sunday, his lowest snap share of the season. The 23-year-old wideout was not a big part of Denver's game plan, as he failed to record a single target for the first time this season and was held without a catch for the second time in nine appearances. The Oklahoma product is buried on the wide receiver depth chart behind Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant, as Bryant has seen an increase in usage in recent weeks. Based on his limited opportunities, should remain off the fantasy radar when the Broncos come out of their Week 12 bye for a matchup against the Commanders in Week 13.
Nov 14, 2025
Cleared for return Sunday
Mims (concussion) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs after practicing fully this week.
ANALYSIS
Mims is thus slated to see his first game action since Week 8, with his return bolstering a Denver WR corps that also features Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin. In eight contests to date, Mims has caught 22 passes on 32 targets for 234 yards and a TD, a level of production that has limited his fantasy impact to deeper formats. He did have a pair of six-catch efforts in that span, but apart from that his output was modest in his other six outings.
Nov 13, 2025
Another full practice
Mims (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Mims will need to gain full clearance from the concussion protocol, including from an independent neurologist, in order to be eligible to suit up for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Having begun Week 11 prep with back-to-back full practices is a sign that he's nearing a return to action, though. Mims has missed Denver's last two games due to a concussion suffered Week 8 versus Dallas.
Nov 12, 2025
Full participant in practice
Mims (concussion) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
It's his first full practice since suffering a concussion in the Week 8 win over Dallas. Mims is trending in the right direction for Sunday's matchup with Kansas City, but he'll likely be a part-time player, behind Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin, with Pat Bryant and Lil'Jordan Humphrey also competing for snaps/routes.
Nov 12, 2025
Takes part in practice Wednesday
Mims (concussion) is participating in Wednesday's practice, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims resumed practicing in a limited capacity prior to being ruled out for Denver's win over the Raiders on Thursday Night Football in Week 10, so it's possible he'll be listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice report. While Mims will need to gain full clearance from the concussion protocol in order to be eligible to retake the field, he seemingly has a solid chance to do so ahead of Sunday's home matchup against the Chiefs.
Nov 5, 2025
Won't play Thursday
Mims (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos listed Mims as a limited practice participant Tuesday and Wednesday, hinting at a degree of practice and potential return for Week 11 against Kansas City (Nov. 16). With Mims out for the past game and a half, Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant took on more snaps alongside Courtland Sutton. It'll likely be the same story Thursday night, with Trent Sherfield also having a role as the No. 4 receiver.
Nov 4, 2025
Considered limited Tuesday
Mims (concussion) was estimated to be a limited participant at Tuesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Mims was able to participate in some capacity for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 8 against Dallas. The wide receiver remains in concussion protocol, and he'll likely have to log a full session Wednesday to have a shot to play in Thursday night's matchup with Las Vegas. If he's unavailable, Pat Bryant and Trent Sherfield would once again see an uptick in workload in Week 9.
Nov 3, 2025
Listed as DNP on Monday
Mims (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims emerged from the Broncos' Week 8 win against the Cowboys with a concussion and wasn't able to practice in any capacity before being ruled out ahead of this past Sunday's game at Houston. With no listed activity to speak of yet for the third-year pro, he may be trending in the wrong direction to clear the protocol for head injuries and play Thursday versus the Raiders.
Oct 31, 2025
Ruled out for Sunday
Mims (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
With Mims unable to gain clearance to play this week, the wideout will target a potential return to action Thursday against the Raiders. In his absence Sunday, Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant will lead Denver's Week 9 WR corps, with Trent Sherfield also available to mix in.
Oct 30, 2025
Doesn't practice Thursday
Mims (concussion) remained a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims will need to return to practice Friday to have any chance of clearing the NFL's five-step concussion protocol prior to Sunday's game against the Texans. If Mims sits out against Houston, Riley Moss could take over as Denver's punt returner, while more snaps would be available for Pat Bryant and Trent Sherfield at wide receiver behind Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.
Oct 29, 2025
Not practicing Wednesday
Mims (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Tomasson, Mims, who is in concussion protocol in the wake of this past Sunday's 44-24 win over the Cowboys, was able to work on a side field Wednesday. The wideout thus has two more chances to practice fully before Denver's Week 9 injury designations are posted. Through eight games thus far, Mims has been a hit-or-miss fantasy option, while recording a 22/234/1 receiving line on 32 targets in that span.
Oct 26, 2025
In concussion protocol after win
Mims is in concussion protocol following Sunday's 44-24 win over the Cowboys, Troy Renck of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims was injured late in the win over Dallas. Prior to getting hurt, the 2023 second-round pick didn't catch his only target and rushed three times for 18 yards. He also had three kickoff returns for 93 yards, two punt returns for 26 yards and drew a 32-yard defensive pass interference penalty. Mims will need to clear concussion protocol to have a chance to play in Week 9 against the Texans.
Oct 19, 2025
Gains 98 yards from scrimmage
Mims brought in six of seven targets for 85 yards and took his only carry for 13 yards in Sunday's 33-32 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Mims checked in as the Broncos' second-leading receiver in Sunday's comeback victory, finishing only behind Courtland Sutton's 6-87-0 receiving line. The 23-year-old Mims added 13 yards on his fourth rushing attempt of the season in order to finish as Denver's highest yardage producer. That said, Mims finished with two or fewer receptions in four out of his last five appearances, highlighting the playmaker's weekly volatility. Fantasy managers are hoping for one of Mims' "boom" games in a soft matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday.
Oct 14, 2025
Three touches in Week 6
Mims caught two of three targets for 30 yards and rushed once for minus-2 yards in Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Mims played 21 of the Broncos' 60 offensive snaps Sunday, behind fellow wide receivers Courtland Sutton (48), Pat Bryant (35) and Troy Franklin (35). The third-year wideout's 35 percent snap share was his lowest mark of the season. Mims has flashed his play-making ability at times this season, but his inconsistent usage in Denver's offense makes him extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes. The 23-year-old will have his next chance to take a step forward in a Week 7 matchup against the Giants, yet he'll continue to face stiff competition for targets in a crowded receiving corps.
Oct 5, 2025
Records 61 all-purpose yards in win
Mims brought in two of five targets for 10 yards, rushed once for nine yards and returned four punts for 42 yards in the Broncos' 21-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Mims' final line tells the story of modest involvement on offense for the fourth time in five games, as well as a continuation of his solid work as a returner. The speedy third-year wideout didn't log any kickoff-return work for the second straight game, but he's now averaging 13.0 yards per his 13 punt returns. Nevertheless, with a modest 14-119-1 line on 21 targets as a receiver, Mims retains only modest value in formats that don't factor in return yards.
Oct 3, 2025
Good to go this week
Mims (hip/ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims was limited Wednesday and Thursday, but a full session Friday paves the way for the wideout to be available versus Philadelphia. On the heels of his most productive game of the season, in which he logged six catches on as many targets for 69 yards and one carry for a 16-yard TD in Monday's 28-3 win over the Bengals, the 2023 second-rounder profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy lineup option in Week 5, with fellow WRs Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin -- who have been out-snapping Mims each week thus far -- both in line to continue to see their share of targets this weekend.
Oct 2, 2025
Listed as limited again
Mims (hip/ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Mims was also deemed limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, so he'll have one more chance to practice fully ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles. Mims is coming off his most productive game of the season, having recorded six catches on as many targets for 69 yards and one carry for a 16-yard TD in Monday's 28-3 win over the Bengals.
Oct 1, 2025
Limited on practice estimate
Mims (hip/ankle) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Mims was a Saturday addition to the Broncos' Week 4 injury report with a hip injury, but he suited up for Monday night's 28-3 win over the Bengals and wound up with six catches on as many targets for 69 yards and one carry for a 16-yard TD. The wideout is now also managing an ankle issue, and will have two more chances to practice fully leading up to Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Sep 30, 2025
Hits pay dirt on MNF
Mims had six receptions on as many targets for 69 yards while taking his only carry for a 16-yard touchdown in Monday's 28-3 win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Mims saved his best for the bright lights of Monday Night Football, finishing with a team high six receptions while scoring his second touchdown of the season. This was clearly a standout performance from the Broncos' third receiver, with Monday's receiving yardage surpassing the combined totals from his previous three outings. Mims possesses big-play ability that could show up on any given week, but his role is too unpredictable to warrant starting him in standard leagues against the Eagles on Sunday.
Sep 29, 2025
Active versus Bengals
Mims (hip) is listed as active for Monday night's game against the Bengals, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims, who didn't appear on the Broncos' Week 4 injury report Thursday or Friday, was deemed questionable for the contest after being listed as limited in Saturday's practice. With his availability versus Cincinnati confirmed, Mims (who's been a key returner for Denver) will bolster a wide receiver corps that's been paced of late by Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin. Through his team's first three games, the 2023 second-rounder's fantasy impact has been modest, with Mims having logged six catches (on 10 targets) for 40 yards and a TD in that span.
Sep 27, 2025
Questionable for MNF
Mims is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Bengals due to a hip injury.
ANALYSIS
The injury appears to be a recent one, given Mims practiced in full Thursday and Friday. He was limited in Saturday's session, and his status for Monday night's game may not be known until the Broncos announce their inactives list approximately 90 minutes before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Mims has six catches (on 10 targets) for 40 yards and a touchdown through three games, though most of his impact has come on special teams, where he has logged 248 kickoff return yards and 103 punt return yards. Riley Moss, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie would be candidates to take over return duties on special teams if Mims is not cleared to play.
Sep 23, 2025
One grab in loss
Mims caught one of four targets for four yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Mims continued his disappointing start to the 2025 campaign, as the third-year wide receiver has recorded just six catches for 40 yards and a touchdown through three games. The 23-year-old operated as Denver's No. 3 wideout behind both Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin. Quarterback Bo Nix and Mims had trouble connecting in the contest, as Nix struggled with accuracy while pushing the ball down the field. The Oklahoma product hasn't had the role in the Broncos' offense that fantasy managers hoped for thus far, making him extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes. Mims will look to get more involved in Denver's aerial attack when the Broncos host the Bengals and their vulnerable defense in Week 4.
Sep 16, 2025
Finds end zone in loss
Mims reeled in both of his targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Mims scored his first touchdown on the season despite seeing a significant dip in his playing time in Week 2. After playing 51 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps in Week 1, the 23-year-old was on the field for just 36 percent of snaps against the Colts. Meanwhile, teammate Troy Franklin saw an uptick in playing time and led all Denver pass catchers with nine targets. If this type of usage continues, Mims will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as the third option among wide receivers behind both Franklin and Courtland Sutton. Nonetheless, the third-year wideout will look to build off this performance in Week 3 when the Broncos visit the Chargers.
Sep 8, 2025
Quiet day with three receptions
Mims brought in three of four targets for 12 yards with a lost fumble in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Mims was able to suit up after practicing all week while recovering from a thigh injury. Managers may have hoped he sat this one out after a lost fumble resulted in a negative fantasy score in standard formats. Courtland Sutton (6-61-1) and Troy Franklin (4-44-0) finished with more targets and better production than Mims. The 23-year-old Mims will have to step it up, starting with next Sunday's matchup against the Colts, or run the risk of falling down the receiver depth chart.
Sep 3, 2025
Ready for Week 1
Mims (thigh) practiced fully Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims exited practice last week with a thigh injury and didn't participate in this past Thursday's session, but was a able to return to the field Monday. With a full showing under his belt Wednesday, Mims is slated to play in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Titans, a contest in which the 2023 second-rounder is expected to work as the Broncos WR2 behind top option Courtland Sutton.
Sep 1, 2025
Back at practice, as expected
Mims (groin) is participating in Monday's practice, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Broncos coach Sean Payton after Mims was forced to depart last Thursday's practice early that he was expected to retake the field Monday, so it's encouraging to see the 2023 second-rounder following that timetable without any setbacks. By all indications, Mims is only dealing with a minor groin injury and remains on track for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Titans.
Aug 28, 2025
Absent from practice Thursday
Mims (groin) is not present at Thursday's practice, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims left Wednesday's practice early to be evaluated for a groin issue, though Broncos coach Sean Payton downplayed the injury's severity. The team appear to simply taking a cautious approach to the No. 2 receiver's recovery until next week, when prep for the regular-season opener against Tennessee on Sunday, Sept. 7 fully kicks off, as Payton said Mims will be back on the field Monday, per Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com.
Aug 27, 2025
Evaluated for groin injury
Mims (groin) departed Wednesday's practice early but is not believed to be dealing with a serious injury, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims is set to kick off the regular season as the No. 2 starting wideout alongside Courtland Sutton, and he appears to be facing the most significant opportunity for playing time of his three-year career, so Denver will hope the 2023 second-round pick is able to get back on the field quickly. Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant would stand to benefit from a sharp uptick in snaps behind Sutton if Mims were to miss any time.
Aug 10, 2025
Targeted once in win
Mims reeled in his lone target for three yards in Saturday's 30-9 preseason win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Mims started opposite teammate Courtland Sutton in Saturday's preseason opener against the 49ers. The 23-year-old currently holds the No. 2 spot on what is a crowded wide receiver depth chart littered with young talent. Although Mims was unable to get much of anything going Saturday, the third-year wideout has proven to be an versatile and talented weapon since being drafted in 2023. If Mims continues to see more playing time than he did in his first two seasons, his explosive skill set is one that could lead to more sustained production on an offense that is trending upward under head coach Sean Payton. With that said, fellow receivers Devaughn Vele, Troy Franklin and rookie Pat Bryant will certainly challenge for snaps each week as they continue to develop. Mims will look to get more involved when the Broncos host the Cardinals in Denver's second preseason game next Saturday night.
Jul 8, 2025
WR2 candidate for Broncos
As training camp approaches, Mims is a candidate to emerge as the Broncos' No. 2 wide receiver option behind Courtland Sutton, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims, who Denver selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he totaled 39 catches for 503 yards (on 52 targets) and six TDs in 17 games, but it's worth noting that the 23-year-old speedster logged a 32/447/6 receiving line over his last eight contests. Also competing for wideout targets ahead of Week 1 will be Devaughn Vele, Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant, but Mims' encouraging finish last year could foreshadow an uptick in production in his third season as a pro, while working with second-year franchise QB Bo Nix.
Jan 12, 2025
Quiet in playoff debut
Mims caught two of four targets for 12 yards and gained an additional rushing yard on two carries in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
After finishing the regular season with four TDs over the last two games, Mims wasn't able to get free against a stingy Buffalo secondary. The 2023 second-round pick was looking like he might be little more than a return specialist in the NFL until he caught fire down the stretch this year, posting a 28-434-6 line on 33 targets over his final seven regular-season contests and flashing some intriguing chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix. Mims will likely land on a lot of sleeper lists heading into 2025 fantasy drafts.
Jan 5, 2025
Finds end zone twice
Mims recorded five receptions on five targets for 51 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-0 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mims continued his late-season breakout, and his day began with an impressive 32-yard catch and run into the end zone. He then tallied a seven-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter, once again earning the majority of his yardage after the catch. While Mims doesn't necessarily win consistently as a traditional receiver, he's carved out a consistent role in the Denver offense having commanded at least four targets in six straight games to close the regular season.
Dec 28, 2024
Two impressive touchdowns
Mims recorded eight receptions on eight targets for 103 and two touchdowns in Saturday's 30-24 overtime loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Mims saw a career-high eight targets and turned in the third 100-yard performance in two years as a pro. He had a pair of highlight-reel touchdown receptions, the first coming on a 51-yard deep shot midway through the fourth quarter when he got behind a pair of defenders. Mims followed that up with a leaping 25-yard touchdown grab with eight seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. After failing to top 18 yards in a game through Week 10, Mims has at least 62 receiving yards in three of his last four games and is making the case to have a key role in Denver's offense in 2025.
Dec 20, 2024
Four touches against Chargers
Mims caught three of five targets for 62 yards and rushed once for three yards in Thursday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Mims played 47 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps, a season high for the speedy wideout. The second-year receiver's five targets matched a season high, as well, pointing toward an effort to get the Oklahoma product more involved in Denver's offense. As rookie quarterback Bo Nix has developed this season, the Broncos have found more success moving the ball through the air and spreading targets around to several pass catchers each week. Mims should continue to benefit from more dynamic play calling, but he'll continue to be difficult to trust for consistent production while competing for targets with fellow wideouts Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin. Next up for the Broncos is a Week 17 matchup against the Bengals.
Dec 17, 2024
Four grabs in win
Mims secured all four of his targets for 20 yards and rushed once for zero yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Mims played just 16 of the Broncos' 63 offensive snaps Sunday, the least of any Denver wideout in the contest. After trending upwards in production in recent weeks, the 22-year-old wasn't able to get much going with his four targets from quarterback Bo Nix. Mims does not receive enough consistent playing time and opportunities to be trusted for fantasy purposes as the season's conclusion draws near. The second-year receiver will look to bounce back in a Week 16 matchup against the Chargers.
Dec 3, 2024
Scores from 93 yards out
Mims had three catches (four targets) for 105 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 41-32 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Mims was the leading receiver for Denver after breaking off a 93-yard touchdown reception in an exciting win on Monday Night Football. The 22-year-old only gained 12 yards on his remaining two receptions, reminding fantasy managers how little the wideout can be involved in this offense. Mims has only been a reserve for Denver in his sophomore season, resulting in a previous game-high of 49 yards in 12 games prior to Monday's output. With a bye week on tap, Mims shouldn't be a top waiver add in Week 14.
Nov 27, 2024
Makes three grabs in win
Mims caught three of his five targets for 44 yards, took two carries for negative two yards, and returned a punt for 22 yards during Sunday's 29-19 win at Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Mims only played 16 of the Broncos' 65 offensive snaps in Week 12, but he was still able to get five touches. He now has at least five touches in all of his last three games, but his relegation to a gadget role makes him hard to trust in fantasy lineups when Denver hosts the Browns in Week 13.
Nov 18, 2024
Scores touchdown in win
Mims caught both of his targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-6 win over the Falcons. He added three carries for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Though Mims played just 14 of the Broncos' 62 offensive snaps Sunday, the second-year wideout was able to make the most of his opportunities against the Falcons. The 22-year-old's scored his first touchdown of the 2024 campaign on a 12-yard pass from quarterback Bo Nix in the waning moments of the first half. With Mims seeing 12 touches over the past three weeks, his increased usage in Denver's offense is worth monitoring. With that said, the Oklahoma product remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as the Broncos head into a Week 12 matchup against the Raiders.
Nov 11, 2024
Seven touches in loss
Mims caught all four of his targets for 13 yards and rushed three times for 17 yards in Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mims' targets, catches and 30 total yards offensive yards were all season highs for the second-year wide receiver. Despite playing just 13 of the Broncos' 58 offensive snaps in the contest, the 22-year-old handled seven total touches in the contest, the most of any Denver wideout. Unfortunately, Mims was unable to turn his opportunities into much fantasy relevant production. The speedster will look to take a step forward in a Week 11 matchup against the Falcons, but his limited snap share should keep him off the fantasy radar.
Oct 15, 2024
Held catchless in Week 6
Mims failed to record a single reception on three targets in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Though he saw a season-high in targets, Mims was unable to connect with rookie quarterback Bo Nix against the Chargers in Week 6. The second-year speedster continued to see limited usage, playing just 17 of the Broncos' 55 offensive snaps. Heading into a Week 7 matchup against the Saints, Mims is not a reliable fantasy option.
Oct 8, 2024
Two touches in win
Mims caught his lone target for seven yards and carried the ball once for 17 yards in Sunday's 34-18 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Mims' seven-yard grab Sunday was just his third catch of the season as the second-year wideout continues to play a limited role in Denver's offense. The 22-year-old played just 12 of the Broncos' 63 offensive snaps in the contest, limiting his opportunities to have an impact. Mims is best left off the fantasy radar as the Broncos head into a Week 6 matchup against the Chargers.
Oct 1, 2024
Not targeted against Jets
Mims failed to record a single target in Sunday's 10-9 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Mims played just 10 of the Broncos 61 offensive snaps Sunday, the least of any Denver wideout. Week 4 marked the first time Mims was not targeted by rookie quarterback Bo Nix in the passing game, and through four weeks, the second-year wideout has totaled two catches for 19 yards on four targets. Mims' extremely limited utilization on a struggling offense provides him with little to no fantasy value heading into a Week 5 matchup against the Raiders.
Sep 29, 2024
Back on field Sunday
Mims (ribs) has returned to Sunday's game against the Jets, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims briefly left Sunday's game due to a rib injury, but it's not serious enough to keep him out of action.
Sep 22, 2024
Limited involvement in win
Mims reeled in his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Buccaneers
ANALYSIS
Mims continues to be minimally involved in the Broncos' offense, as the speedy wideout has just two catches on four targets for 19 yards through the first three games of the 2024 campaign. The 22-year-old's 16 offensive snaps Sunday were the fewest of any Denver receiver. Mims should be left out of fantasy lineups heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Jets.
Sep 17, 2024
One grab in loss
Mims secured one of his two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Mims had another quiet game in Week 2, playing just nine of the Broncos' 61 offensive snaps against the Steelers. It appears the second-year wideout's involvement in the Denver's offense is not a priority for head coach Sean Payton, even though the Broncos are desperate for offensive playmaking. Mims is a speedster that can stretch the field, but rookie quarterback Bo Nix is struggling to push the ball down the field in his first two regular season starts. The 22-year-old will continue to be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes when the Broncos visit the Buccaneers in Week 3.
Sep 9, 2024
Targeted once against Seahawks
Mims failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Mims was a complete non-factor on offense Sunday, instead making his only contributions on special teams as a returner. The second-year wideout returned five punts for 47 yards and and three kickoffs for 69 yards. Mims' lack of involvement in the passing attack carried over from his rookie season, in which head coach Sean Payton did not utilize him consistently. The speedster played just 12 of Denver's 69 offensive snaps, so his usage will need to come up if he can be considered for fantasy purposes. Mims will get his next chance to make an impact offensively when the Broncos host the Steelers in Week 2.
Aug 27, 2024
Could benefit from Patrick release
Mims is among the candidates to take on a larger role after Denver released Tim Patrick on Tuesday, DNVR Broncos reports.
ANALYSIS
Patrick, Courtland Sutton and Josh Reynolds have taken most of the first-team reps this summer, with Sean Payton favoring his tall, veteran receivers over quicker, younger players like Mims and Troy Franklin. Releasing Patrick is probably more about cap space than anything to do with the team's other wide receivers, but it nonetheless reduces Mim's competition for playing time in his second NFL season. The 2023 second-round pick had four reception of 38 or more yards in Weeks 1-4 last season, but he then managed only 135 receiving yards over 12 subsequent games while topping 32 snaps on offense just once all year.
Aug 12, 2024
Finds end zone in win
Mims caught two of three targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-30 preseason win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Mims was on the field for just 17 offensive snaps Sunday, making the most of his opportunities by scoring a touchdown on a one-yard pass from Bo Nix late in the first half. With a strong showing in training camp thus far, the second-year wideout has a chance to take a big step forward in the Denver's offense after a disappointing rookie campaign. The 22-year-old's elite speed make him an intriguing weapon with the potential to take the top off of defenses. With fellow receiver Courtland Sutton firmly atop the depth chart, Mims will likely compete with Josh Reynolds and Tim Patrick for the second spot in the pecking order.

Catches eye of coach
Coach Sean Payton noted Friday that Mims is "doing well" in training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Jerry Jeudy having been traded to the Browns this offseason, targets that don't go to top wideout Courtland Sutton are up for grabs. With that in mind, Mims -- who logged a 22/377/1 receiving line in 16 regular-season games in 2023 as a second-round rookie -- has a prime opportunity to see an uptick in production in his second year as a pro. Also in the mix to fill the void created by Jeudy's departure are free-agent addition Josh Reynolds, veteran Tim Patrick and 2024 fourth-rounder Troy Franklin, but according as Cecil Lammey of denversports.com Mims' speed and big-play ability from either the slot or outside should give him an opportunity to carve out a key role in Denver's offense alongside Sutton and Reynolds in three-WR sets.

Feels better in second offseason
Mims said things are going "a lot smoother" for him in his second NFL offseason, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to having a much better understanding of Sean Payton's offense, Mims mentioned that he's "as healthy as I've been in a long time." The 2023 second-round pick was limited by hamstring injuries last spring and summer, though that didn't stop him from having a big impact early in the season, including four receptions of 38 or more yards and a kick return TD within the first four weeks. While Mims remained effective on special teams apart from a pair of lost fumbles, he had only 135 receiving yards on 22 targets in his 12 appearances after Week 4. The NFL's new kickoff rules figure to make Mims even more important for Denver's special teams this year, and he should also be part of a competition for the No. 2 receiver job opposite Courtland Sutton. If not Mims, it'll likely be Josh Reynolds, Troy Franklin or Tim Patrick (Achilles) stepping up as the No. 2 receiver, though a rotation also is possible.

Stock on rise after trade
Mims projects to be the team's No. 2 target after Jerry Jeudy was traded to the Browns on Saturday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Sean Payton made a point of mentioning his affinity for Mims after the Broncos selected the Oklahoma product in the second round of last year's draft despite not having any obvious need a wide receiver with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy on the roster. That hype quickly faded as Mims amounted to more of a deep-ball specialist when the aforementioned duo were both healthy, but the soon-to-be 22-year-old will have plenty of time to succeed in the offense next season with Saturday's trade confirmed. Mims' success will obviously depend on who ultimately takes over as the Broncos' next signal caller, but it's unclear if the team will lean towards a rookie, or build around one of the few established veterans expected to be on the open market come the new league year.
Feb 1, 2024
Finishes underwhelming rookie year
Mims ended the 2023 season with 22 receptions on 33 targets for 377 yards and one touchdown. He added nine rushes for 30 yards and scored one kick return touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Mims entered the 2023 campaign with expectations of being a contributor in Denver's offense, yet his rookie season was mostly underwhelming. Behind both Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy on the depth chart, the 21-year-old wideout often found himself competing for playing time with Brandon Johnson and Lil'Jordan Humphrey for the third receiver spot. When teammate Tim Patrick (Achilles) landed on injured reserve in training camp, many assumed that Mims could establish himself early on, but Denver's coaching staff was committed to easing him into the offense. The Oklahoma product flashed his speed and playmaking ability in his limited opportunities, so its possible that he could be a larger part of the Broncos' offensive plans in 2024. What remains to be seen is who will be throwing him the ball, as the team is expected to part ways with Russell Wilson in the offseason.

Practices fully Thursday
Mims (hamstring) returned to a full practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Mims, who was inactive for the Broncos' Week 17 win over the Chargers, logged a limited practice Wednesday, but the wideout's return to a full session a day later sets the stage for him to suit up for his team's season finale against the Raiders on Sunday. In 15 games to date, the 2023 second-rounder has logged a 21-361-1 line on 32 targets, a pace that has limited the rookie's fantasy lineup utility to deeper formats.
Jan 3, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Mims (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Mims popped up on the injury report last week with the hamstring issue and missed Week 17 against the Chargers. His limited participation to start this week would seem to suggest he has a better chance of suiting up for Sunday's season finale against the Raiders.
Dec 31, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Mims (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
With Mims and Courtland Sutton (concussion) both unavailable Sunday, look for Jerry Jeudy to lead the Broncos' Week 17 wideout corps, while Brandon Johnson, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Michael Bandy and Phillip Dorsett are also candidates to contribute to the team's passing attack versus Los Angeles. Mims will now target a potential return to action next weekend against the Raiders.
Dec 31, 2023
Not expected to play
Mims (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, is not expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims was unable to practice Friday due to a hamstring injury that he appears to have suffered during the week, as the rookie practiced fully Wednesday prior to being limited Thursday. However, we won't know if Mims is officially out until inactives are released 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 PM ET kickoff.
Dec 29, 2023
Questionable after Friday's DNP
Mims (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims was unable to practice Friday due to a hamstring injury that he appears to have suffered during the week, as the rookie practiced fully Wednesday prior to being limited Thursday. Courtland Sutton (concussion) has been ruled out and Jerry Jeudy (illness) is questionable after missing practice Friday, so more opportunities could be available for Brandon Johnson and Lil'Jordan Humphrey in a Denver passing game that will be quarterbacked by Jarrett Stidham against the Chargers.
Dec 28, 2023
Added to injury report
Mims (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims practiced fully Wednesday, but his status now needs to be monitored ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, especially with fellow WR Courtland Sutton (concussion) missing his second straight practice Thursday. In any case, if Mims is able to play this weekend, he'll be catching passes from Jarrett Stidham, who has replaced Russell Wilson as the Broncos' starting QB for Week 17.
Dec 25, 2023
Fumble costs team seven points
Mims caught three of four targets for 63 yards and lost a fumble on a kickoff return in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Mims finished as the Broncos' leading receiver while also recording the game's longest catch of 47 yards. The 21-year-old spoiled that honor when he muffed a kickoff return in the third quarter and then proceeded to fumble the ball after picking up his initial gaffe. The Patriots' coverage team recovered the ball in the end zone to give them 14 points in the span of eight seconds. Fortunately for fantasy managers, the pair of fumbles only counts as one in the official scorebook. Despite his mistake as a return man Sunday, Mims could be in store for more looks as a receiver in Week 16 if Courtland Sutton (concussion) isn't ready for next Sunday's matchup against the Chargers.
Dec 18, 2023
Held catchless in Week 15
Mims carried the ball once for eleven yards and failed to secure either of his two targets in Saturday's 42-17 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Mims was held without a catch for the fourth time this season as he continues to be used sparingly in Denver's offense. The rookie wideout played 26 of the Broncos 64 offensive snaps Saturday, with Lil'Jordan Humphrey (37) handling No. 3 receiver duties behind Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. Mims limited usage keeps him far off the fantasy radar for a Week 16 matchup with the Patriots.
Dec 12, 2023
Two grabs in win
Mims caught two of three targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 24-7 over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Mims played 25 of the Broncos' 67 offensive snaps Sunday, running behind Courtland Sutton (50), Jerry Jeudy (38) and Lil'Jordan Humphrey (38). The rookie wideout continued his disappointing 2023 campaign, as he's now recorded just 18 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown. Mims' limited usage will continue to keep him off the fantasy radar when the Broncos visit the Lions in Week 15.
Dec 7, 2023
Takes every rep Thursday
Mims (ribs) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Mims was one of five Broncos who was listed as a limited participant in the team's first Week 14 practice Wednesday, but each member of that quintet took full reps during Thursday's session. The rookie wideout thus appears to be good to go for Sunday's game against the Chargers, and though he's generally seen his snaps increase since Denver's Week 9 bye, he still doesn't profile as a bankable fantasy option at this stage. In the Broncos' four games since the bye, Mims has cobbled together a modest 5-41-0 receiving line on nine targets to go with 16 yards on three carries.
Dec 6, 2023
Bothered by ribs
Mims was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a rib injury, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims has progressed from the No. 4 WR role to No. 3 in terms of playing time, but he actually had more luck putting up numbers early in the season when he was playing fewer than 20 snaps each week. He had four catches of 38-plus yards in his first four games -- plus a kick return TD -- and has since failed to record a reception spanning more than 16 yards. The ability to practice in any capacity Wednesday suggests Mims should be able to face the Chargers this Sunday, but there's not much reason to expect more than two or three targets and maybe a carry.
Dec 5, 2023
Targeted twice against Texans
Mims caught one of two targets for five yards and carried the ball once for eight yards in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
After averaging a 57 percent offensive snap share since Denver's Week 9 bye, Mims saw his playing time decrease in Week 13 and played just 31 percent of snaps. As has been the case throughout the 2023 campaign, the rookie's role in the offense is not consistent enough to warrant much consideration for fantasy purposes. Mims will continue to struggle to see meaningful usage when the Broncos face the Chargers in Week 14.
Dec 1, 2023
Cleared to play vs. Texans
Mims (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Texans, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims avoided the final injury report by upgrading to full practice participation Friday after a pair of limited sessions. The rookie out of Oklahoma should continue to work as Denver's return man on special teams while filling a depth role at wide receiver. Mims has caught more than two passes in a game only once in his young career while chipping in one receiving touchdown and one kick return touchdown.
Nov 29, 2023
Limited by hamstring issue
Mims (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims now has two more chances to upgrade his participation level ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans. That said, with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy (groin) ahead of him in the Broncos' WR pecking order, the speedy Mims profiles as a speculative fantasy lineup option ahead of Week 13 action.
Nov 28, 2023
Handles three touches
Mims caught two of three targets for 24 yards and rushed once for 11 yards in Sunday's 29-12 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Sunday marked Mims' second straight week with two grabs on three targets. The rookie's modest production with his opportunities shows that he has yet to truly be unleashed in Denver's offense. With that said, it appears that head coach Sean Payton is making an effort to get Mims more involved in the offense. Before the Broncos' Week 9 bye, the speedy wideout was averaging just a 29 percent offensive snap share. In the three games since the bye, his snap share average has increased to roughly 57 percent. As is the case with many rookie receivers, it's possible that Mims could push for more opportunities as the season progresses. Even so, the 21-year-old won't make for a trustworthy fantasy option in Week 13 against the Texans.
Nov 21, 2023
Catches two passes
Mims brought in two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 21-20 win over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Mims operated as the Broncos' No. 3 wide receiver Sunday, as his 31 offensive snaps were behind just Courtland Sutton (44) and Jerry Jeudy (39). Despite the recent increase in his involvement, the rookie wideout's production has failed to catch up. The talent is there for Mims to make big plays for an offense that could use a spark, but it seems that working him into the scheme is not a major priority of the coaching staff. The 21-year-old will remain extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes when the Broncos host the Browns in Week 12.
Nov 16, 2023
Upgraded to full Thursday
Mims (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of Denver's Week 9 bye, Mims played a season-high 69 percent of the offensive snaps and ran 28 routes against the Bills on Monday but was targeted just once. The Broncos are a run-oriented offense, and Mims is behind Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy (hip/limited Thursday) in the target pecking order.
Nov 15, 2023
Listed as limited Wednesday
Mims (ankle) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In Monday's 24-22 win over the Bills, Mims logged a season-high 52 (of a possible 75) snaps on offense, while working alongside fellow WRs Courtland Sutton (65 snaps) and Jerry Jeudy (49 snaps). Despite the uptick in playing time, the rookie second-rounder didn't record a catch versus Buffalo and thus remains a speculative fantasy option in advance of this weekend's game against the Vikings.
Nov 15, 2023
Sees expanded action
Mims failed to catch his lone target and rushed once for minus-3 yards in Monday's 24-22 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Though Mims' stat line was extremely disappointing Monday, his 69 percent offensive snap share was by far his highest of the season. In fact, the rookie wideout's 52 snaps ranked second among Denver's wideouts behind Courtland Sutton (65) and ahead of Jerry Jeudy (49). Mims is a talented receiver who pose can pose problems as a deep threat, so his increased playing time is a step in the right direction for the Oklahoma product. It appears the Broncos' coaching staff wants to get him more involved on offense, so it's possible the 21-year-old could see more targets start to come his way in the passing game. Mims will look to use his playmaking ability to take a step forward when the Broncos host the Vikings in Week 11.
Oct 30, 2023
One catch in win
Mims secured his only target for zero yards in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mims lone catch in the contest was his first grab since Week 5, albeit for no gain. The talented rookie wideout played on 40 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps Sunday, his highest snap share of the season. The increase in playing time was likely due to the absence of veteran Brandon Johnson (hamstring) being placed on injured reserve, as Johnson had played ahead of Mims for most of the season to this point. Even with added opportunity, Mims was an afterthought in Denver's offensive attack, as his one target was the fewest of any pass catcher who saw an opportunity through the air from Russell Wilson. The Broncos go on a bye in Week 9, but the 21-year-old will hope to be more involved in the passing game when Denver plays the Bills on Nov. 13.
Oct 24, 2023
Targeted once in win
Mims failed to catch his lone target and rushed once for minus-11 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Mims' frustrating start to the 2023 campaign continued Sunday, as the wideout was held without a catch and lost yards on his one carry in the contest. The rookie played 18 of 59 offensive snaps, the lowest of any Denver wide receiver. The Broncos' coaching staffs appears firmly committed to bringing the Oklahoma product along slowly this season despite flashing his playmaking ability with several opportunities. Up next for the Broncos is a rematch with the Chiefs. Mims failed to record a target in their first matchup, and the 21-year-old should continue to be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as Denver hosts Kansas City in Week 8.
Oct 13, 2023
Not targeted in loss
Mims failed to record a single target in Thursday's 19-8 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Mims played just 23 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps Thursday, his lowest snap share of the season. In addition, the rookie wideout was held without a target for the first time in six weeks. Fantasy managers hoping for Mims to become more involved in Denver's scheme have been disappointed as the Broncos' coaching staff has yet to fully integrate him into the offense. On a day when the Broncos could have used a spark through the air, Mims earned the fewest snaps of any of Denver's wide receivers. The 21-year-old's talent in undeniable, and though it's possible that things open up for him in coach Sean Payton's plans later in the season, he remains extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes with his current usage. Nonetheless, Mims will once again hope to take a step forward and be more involved in the team's game plan when the Broncos host the Packers in Week 7.
Oct 10, 2023
Minimal involvement in loss
Mims secured his only target for four yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Mims was an afterthought in the Broncos' offense Sunday, earning a season-low one target in the contest. The rookie wideout saw the field for just 33 percent of Denver's offensive snaps, playing behind Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Brandon Johnson. Despite Mims' impressive playmaking ability, the Broncos' coaching staff has yet to fully unleash him on offense. On tap is a Thursday night matchup with the Chiefs, a game that will likely require the Broncos to air it out in order to keep up with the high-powered Chiefs offense. The 21-year-old will look to bounce back in this Week 6 matchup when the Broncos head to Kansas City.
Oct 3, 2023
Catches two passes in win
Mims caught both of his targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Mims played 35 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps Sunday, his highest mark of the season. The rookie's 17 snaps were tied for the third-most of any Denver wideout with Brandon Johnson, despite trailing Johnson in snap share in each of the first three contests. It would appear that Mims is earning more playing time with his big-play ability in Sean Payton's offense, and his opportunities should continue to grow as the season progresses. The 21-year-old reeled in a 48-yard deep ball from Russell Wilson late in the fourth quarter Sunday, setting up a game-winning field goal. Mims could be the spark that the Broncos' offense needs to get going, but he'll have his work cut out for him against a formidable defensive foe when the Broncos host the Jets in Week 5.
Sep 24, 2023
Makes impact in blowout loss
Mims brought in three of five targets for 73 yards, rushed once for three yards and returned two kickoffs for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 70-20 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Mims showed off his playmaking ability for the second straight week, recording a 38-yard grab while also offering a brief reprieve from a second-half Dolphins onslaught with a 99-yard kickoff return TD after Miami had jumped out to a 63-20 lead. Mims could continue carving out a bigger role in an offense that's looked better under new head coach Sean Payton, with his next opportunity to do so coming in a Week 4 road matchup against the Bears.
Sep 17, 2023
Displays big-play ability
Mims caught both of his targets for 113 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 10 yards in Sunday's 35-33 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Mims wound up breaking the century mark while finishing as Denver's leading receiver despite seeing just two targets all game. The second-round rookie saw the same number of targets last week, but he turned those into just nine yards. The stark contrast should warn fantasy managers not to get too excited after this huge game, as Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy both started for the Broncos and had more targets than the rookie. That said, if Mims were to carve out a larger role on offense via an injury or depth chart change, he would stand to gain significant fantasy value. Mims' next chance to impress will come against the Dolphins next Sunday.
Sep 12, 2023
Catches two passes in debut
Mims caught both of his targets for nine yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Despite talk of a potentially expanded role early in the season with Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) sidelined, Mims was on the field for just 17 of the Broncos' 64 offensive plays Sunday. The rookie wideout played behind Courtland Sutton, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Brandon Johnson in snap percentage, and his two targets tied for the lowest total of the group. In the first regular season game of the Sean Payton era, Russell Wilson ultimately targeted 11 different players over 34 attempts in the passing game. With that said, it's possible Denver's coaching staff chose to ease Mims into action in his debut, but his impressive talent should lead to his increased involvement in the offense moving forward. Jeudy's injury status is still uncertain, but if he can return this week, Mims' upside could be capped when the Broncos host the Commanders in Week 2.
Sep 4, 2023
Could claim key role early on
As Week 1 approaches, Mims, Courtland Sutton and Brandon Johnson profile as the Broncos' top healthy WR options, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Denver's wideout depth has been taxed, with Tim Patrick (Achilles) and Jalen Virgil (knee) both on IR and KJ Hamler having been waived with a heart condition. Additionally, Jerry Jeudy's hamstring injury could cost him time out of the gate, which sets the stage for the speedy Mims to potentially see an expanded role early on this season. In the event that Jeudy is ruled out for Week 1 action, Mims -- who can line up both inside or outside -- figures to have an opportunity to log significant snaps alongside Sutton when the Broncos face the Raiders on Sunday.
Aug 27, 2023
Two catches in preseason finale
Mims brought in both targets for 51 yards in the Broncos' 41-0 preseason win over the Rams on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Mims drew the start alongside Lil'Jordan Humphrey and provided a 50-yard grab on his second and final catch, a play that was originally deemed a 75-yard touchdown until replays showed the rookie was down by contact. Mims' strong finish to preseason is fitting considering he's likely set to open the season in an elevated role opposite Courtland Sutton due to Jerry Jeudy's hamstring injury.
Aug 24, 2023
Could step up for Jeudy
Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Mims will play a lot in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams and may otherwise be asked to step up in the WR room if Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) misses time, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jeudy is scheduled for an MRI following his early exit from Thursday's practice. He and Courtland Sutton have been the team's top two wide receivers all spring/summer, with Mims a clear favorite for the No. 3 role ever since Tim Patrick suffered an Achilles tear July 31. The rookie now has some chance to open the year in a top-two role, as the competition for playing time is less than formidable -- namely Brandon Johnson, Marquez Callaway, Kendall Hinton -- in the event of Jeudy missing regular-season games.
Aug 17, 2023
Ready for preseason debut
Mims will play during Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims sat out Denver's first exhibition matchup, despite having been fully cleared from his hamstring injury, but the rookie second-round pick is ready to go for Saturday. He's facing opportunity to secure the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, following the season-ending injury sustained by Tim Patrick (Achilles).
Aug 12, 2023
Does not play in first exhibition
Mims did not record a snap -- not even on special teams -- in Friday's preseason loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Mims' absence was a bit surprising after the wideout was cleared as a full participant in practice earlier this week. The second-round pick was primed to slide into the third receiver role behind starters Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. The previous No. 3, Tim Patrick, suffered a torn Achilles tendon this past offseason, effectively ending his season and creating a path to playing time for the rookie. Mims' next chance play will be when the Broncos take on the 49ers for preseason play on Aug. 19.
Aug 1, 2023
Full participant in practice
Mims was a full participant at practice Monday, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing some time due to a hamstring injury, Mims' full participation in practice is welcomed news as the Broncos lost veteran receiver Tim Patrick to a season-ending Achilles tear during Monday's practice. The 21-year-old rookie could have the opportunity to carve out a role in the receiving corps with Patrick out for the season and KJ Hamler (pectoral/pericarditis) waived and expected to miss at least a month. When speaking about Mims' progress, head coach Sean Payton said, "he's feeling good and you're going to see him more and more this week. He's going to be ramping up and we're encouraged." The Oklahoma product will look to secure the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton ahead of the 2023 campaign, as he presents a deep threat for Russell Wilson, who is no stranger to stretching the field.
Jul 31, 2023
Back at practice
Mims (hamstring) was spotted at practice Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Mims' participation level has yet to be noted, the 2023 second-rounder's return to the field represents good news for Denver's pass-catching corps, in the wake of Tim Patrick having suffered an apparent Achilles' injury Monday. If Patrick ends up missing extended time, Mims will have an increased chance to step into an expanded role alongside top wideouts Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.
Jul 26, 2023
Should be healthy soon
Coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that Mims (hamstring) will "be full in about four days, five days, maybe a week, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Mims has already missed roughly a week of practices due to a hamstring injury picked up "from a workout more recently," and he'll miss the next few days of training camp as well. It's at least positive news that the rookie second-round pick will be able to return before preseason action kicks off, and that his current issue is unrelated to the issue that affected his other hamstring earlier this offseason. When healthy, Mims will compete for a role in a wide receiving corps headlined by Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.
Jul 26, 2023
Has hamstring issue
As training camp opens, Mims is dealing with a hamstring injury, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, Mims -- who was limited some during the offseason with an issue that affected his other hamstring -- should be back at full speed in a few days to a week. As a rookie, the 2023 second-rounder will look to secure a steady role in a Denver wideout corps headed by Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. With that in mind, Mims' main competition for depth chart slotting figures to come from Tim Patrick, who is bouncing back from a knee injury, as well as KJ Hamler, who is currently sidelined by a pectoral injury.
Apr 28, 2023
Heads to Mile High City
The Broncos selected Mims in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 63rd overall.
ANALYSIS
Denver has a crowded receiver room on paper, but Tim Patrick is coming off an ACL tear and KJ Hamler hasn't been the picture of durability, either. Mims had a varied role during his time at Oklahoma; he stood out as a freshman with nine touchdowns on 51 targets. His volume dropped off as a sophomore with 41 targets in 13 games, but he averaged a ridiculous 17.2 yards per target on those opportunities. He drew more volume as a junior in the new-look offense and still thrived, catching 54 of 91 targets for 1,083 yards and six scores. Mims showed well at the combine with 4.38 speed at 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds, too. He may not have been on the mainstream fantasy radar before Friday, but his going to Denver in the second round definitely changes that.
