Lands in Chicago
McCloud signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Monday.
ANALYSIS
In 2024, the cornerback appeared in seven regular-season games with the Giants (162 defensive snaps, 115 special-teams snaps) and eight with the 49ers (52 defensive snaps, 97 special-teams snaps), recording 25 tackles (14 solo) in total as well as a pass defensed. McCloud has 16 starts in 48 career games, and his best statistical campaign came with the Giants in 2022, when he finished the regular season with 43 tackles (35 solo), including 1.5 sacks, and seven pass breakups. Will play Thursday night
McCloud (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Thursday night's game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud had missed the Giants' last two contests after sustaining a knee injury during the team's Week 1 loss to the Vikings. However, following a limited week of practice sessions, he'll return to the field Thursday night. Expect McCloud to start opposite Deonte Banks as part of the Giants' top outside cornerback duo in Week 4.

Estimated as limited
McCloud (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice estimation, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud has missed back-to-back contests due to a knee injury sustained during the Giants' Week 1 loss, but his limited estimation Monday suggests he could return for Week 4. If McCloud still isn't past his knee issue by the time of Thursday night's game, expect Cor'Dale Flott to see more work with the Giants' first-team defense.

Ruled out versus Cleveland

Still tending to injury
McCloud (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's injury report, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud suffered the injury in Week 1 and was unable to play this past Sunday against the Commanders. As the Giants begin to prep for a Week 3 matchup with the Browns, the Notre Dame product will remain sidelined, He'll likely need to get back on the field in some capacity Thursday, if he's going to play Sunday.
Sep 13, 2024
Won't play Week 2
McCloud (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year cornerback was unable to practice all week after suffering a knee injury in Week 1, so it's no surprise that he won't suit up Sunday. With McCloud sidelined, expect Adoree' Jackson and Tre Hawkins to see increased snaps in the Giants' secondary.
Sep 9, 2024
Day-to-day with knee issue
McCloud sustained a knee injury during Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Vikings and is considered day-to-day, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The Notre Dame product's target return date seems to be up in the air, as Vacchiano also reported that he could miss "weeks" despite being listed as day-to-day. McCloud logged two total tackles and played 19 defensive snaps before sustaining the knee injury, and Adoree' Jackson and Tre Hawkins are expected to see more reps with the Giants' first-team defense as McCloud recovers.

McCloud recorded eight tackles (six solo) and forced a fumble in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
McCloud got the start at cornerback in place of Deonte Banks (shoulder), and he finished with his highest tackle total of the campaign. McCloud has logged more snaps on special teams than on defense this season, but he could start against the Eagles in the Giants' regular-season finale next weekend if Banks is unable to suit up again.

Fades injury report
McCloud was absent from the Giants' injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
McCloud and the Giants felt confident that the young safety would be available for Week 1 after he sustained a groin injury toward the end of training camp. He'll provide depth in the secondary behind starters Jason Pinnock and Xavier McKinney.
Aug 27, 2023
Still recovering from injury
McCloud (groin) should be ready Week 1 against the Cowboys, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud's injury details aren't clear, but the Notre Dame product should make the team's roster as a depth option in the secondary, behind projected starters Xavier McKinney and Jason Pinnock at safety.

Picks up 1.5 sacks in Week 18 loss
McCloud totaled five tackles (two solo), including 1.5 sacks, in the Giants' loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
McCloud was one of the more prominent Giants to play in the contest with the team resting most of its starters. The second-year cornerback showed well in the loss, as he notched his most tackles since Week 13. McCloud also earned the first sacks of his career, combining with Jarrad Davis to take down Jalen Hurts in the first quarter and adding a solo sack in the following period. Adoree' Jackson (knee) appears to be on the brink of a return, and if he's able to play in Sunday's wild-card game against the Vikings, McCloud's role would presumably shrink.
Dec 18, 2022
Set to play Sunday
McCloud (illness) has been ruled active for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
McCloud was in and out of practice Week 15 while dealing with an illness. Nevertheless, he'll still suit up for this important divisional matchup against Washington. With Adoree' Jackson (knee) and Rodarius Williams (coach's decision) both inactive, expect McCloud to continue playing an every-down role as one of four available cornerbacks for the Giants.
Dec 16, 2022
Deemed questionable for Sunday
McCloud (illness) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against Washington.
ANALYSIS
McCloud didn't practice Thursday and was limited Wednesday and Friday due to an illness, leaving his status for Week 15 in jeopardy. Adoree' Jackson (knee) has already been ruled out for a fourth straight game, so if McCloud is also sidelined, Cor'Dale Flott, Darnay Holmes and Rodarius Williams would all be candidates for increased roles opposite Fabian Moreau.
Dec 6, 2022
Tallies eight tackles Week 13
McCloud finished with eight tackles (six solo) and two defended passes Sunday in a 20-20 tie versus Washington.
ANALYSIS
McCloud got his second straight start in the absence of Adoree' Jackson (hand), and he again played on 100 percent of New York's defensive snaps. He made the most of the opportunity by tying a career high with eight tackles -- a mark he had established against Dallas one week earlier. Jackson will miss at least one more game (and quite possibly more), so McCloud's time as a starter hasn't yet come to an end.
Dec 4, 2022
Draws another start
McCloud is expected to start Sunday against the Commanders, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud should draw his second start in a row, while Adoree' Jackson (knee) remains out. The former will play opposite Fabian Moreau, while Zyon Gilbert plays nickel.
Oct 7, 2022
No injury designation for Week 5
McCloud doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Packers in London.
ANALYSIS
McCloud missed three straight games after suffering a hamstring injury during the season opener, but he's in line to return in Week 5 after logging a full practice Friday. The second-year cornerback played exclusively on special teams during Week 1 before suffering the injury, so he'll likely garner a similar role against Green Bay.
Sep 30, 2022
Remains out
McCloud (hamstring) will not play Sunday against the Bears, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud will be absent for the third straight week, after he suffered the injury in Week 1 against the Titans. He'll try to return in Week 5 against the Packers.
Sep 24, 2022
Won't play Week 3
McCloud (hamstring) is listed as out for Monday's game versus Dallas, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud suffered a hamstring injury during Week 1, and he'll now miss a second consecutive week as he recovers. He played exclusively on special teams before he got hurt in the season opener.
Sep 16, 2022
Ruled out for Week 2
McCloud has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
McCloud suffered a hamstring injury during the team's Week 1 win over the Titans and will be sidelined for at least one additional week. Aaron Robinson (appendix) has also been ruled out, so Darnay Holmes, Justin Layne and Cor'Dale Flott are all candidates for increased roles Sunday.
Sep 11, 2022
Exits with hamstring injury
McCloud sustained a hamstring injury during Sunday's win over the Titans, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud racked up two tackles on special teams against Tennessee but was unable to return to the game after suffering his hamstring injury during the second half. His status for next Sunday's game against Carolina remains to be seen.

Latches on with Giants
The Giants claimed McCloud off waivers Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
McCloud came into the league with Buffalo last year as an undrafted free agent. He was picked up and then released by Cincinnati after logging 13 defensive and 10 special-teams snaps over two games. The Bills picked him up again in the offseason but waived him Wednesday, and New York quickly jumped in to claim him. McCloud can play multiple positions in the defensive backfield and will likely be a depth piece for a thin Giants secondary.
