Rashod Bateman Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Jets vs Ravens game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 14, 2025
Not playing Sunday
Bateman (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Bateman emerged from this past Sunday's game with an ankle sprain that resulted in him wearing a walking boot afterward. He then didn't practice Wednesday through Friday before the Ravens made a ruling on his status for Week 11. Zay Flowers will lead Baltimore's group of wide receivers Sunday, while DeAndre Hopkins, Tylan Wallace, Devontez Walker and LaJohntay Wester are the other options at the position on the active roster. Bateman's next chance for game action is Sunday, Nov. 23 against the Jets.
Nov 14, 2025
Not practicing yet
Bateman (ankle) wasn't spotted at practice Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman, who also didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, is thus trending toward not being available Sunday against the Browns. If that ends up being the case, DeAndre Hopkins and Tylan Wallace would likely see added WR snaps alongside Zay Flowers this weekend.
Nov 13, 2025
Another DNP on Thursday
Bateman (ankle) isn't practicing Thursday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman has missed Baltimore's first two practices after spraining his ankle in the Week 10 win over the Vikings. He'll likely need to practice in some capacity Friday to avoid being ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns. Tylan Wallace, LaJohntay Wester and Devontez Walker would be candidates for additional playing time alongside Zay Flowers and DeAndre Hopkins if Bateman doesn't play.
Nov 12, 2025
Misses practice Wednesday
Bateman (ankle) is not participating in the early portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman is managing an ankle sprain sustained during Baltimore's win over the Vikings in Week 10, and he now has just two opportunities left to get back on the practice field ahead of Sunday's divisional road matchup against Cleveland. Meanwhile, star quarterback Lamar Jackson (undisclosed) is also absent from Wednesday's practice, meaning the health of the Ravens' offense overall could be in flux for Week 11.
Nov 10, 2025
Managing ankle sprain
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman sustained an ankle sprain during Sunday's win over the Vikings, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's injury forced him to don a walking boot after Sunday's win, but Harbaugh said he expects the veteran wideout "to be OK." Harbaugh declined to specify whether Bateman is expected to miss any time, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports, so his practice activity in Week 11 will be telling. In the event that Bateman isn't able to suit up on the road against Cleveland on Sunday, Nov. 11, wideouts DeAndre Hopkins and Tylan Wallace, as well as No. 2 tight end Isaiah Likely, could benefit from increased target opportunities.
Oct 26, 2025
Manages one long gain in win
Bateman caught two of four targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 30-16 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year wideout once again didn't see much target volume, but Bateman managed to make an impact with a 36-yard reception in the third quarter that helped set up a field goal. He's seen more than four targets only once in seven games this season, no matter whether Lamar Jackson (hamstring), Tyler Huntley or Cooper Rush has been under center, leaving Bateman with a 13-171-1 line on 26 targets on the season. Even if Jackson is able to return in Week 9 against the Dolphins, Bateman may not be able to benefit much.
Oct 13, 2025
Held to one catch Sunday
Bateman had one catch for eight yards on two targets Sunday against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Lamar Jackson's absence continued to be a massive limiting factor on the Baltimore passing game Sunday. However, Bateman's involvement waned a bit Sunday as he played just 56 percent of the snaps, a season-low. His cold stretch precedes Jackson's absence, too. His best game thus far was five catches for 63 yards and a score against the Lions in Week 3. Outside of that game, Bateman has six catches for 57 yards on the year. The Ravens are on a bye in Week 7, and the hope is that the impending Jackson return will revitalize the floundering Baltimore offense.
Oct 7, 2025
No catches Sunday
Bateman had no receptions on three targets Sunday against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens were without Lamar Jackson on Sunday, and the offense struggled mightily. Bateman was not immune to those struggles as he was held without a catch on just three targets. Through five games, Bateman's production has lagged. He has 10 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown on 20 targets. He has one game with more than 3.0 fantasy points. Bateman has an 11.8 ADoT figure and draws a target on 20 percent of his routes. Still, it's not coming together thus far for the fifth-year wideout. If Jackson is out again Sunday against the Rams, it's difficult to envision Bateman breaking out of his slump.
Sep 30, 2025
Production slips vs Chiefs
Bateman caught one of two targets for 24 yards Sunday against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bateman played his highest snap percentage of the season -- 81 percent -- but the box score production did not follow. He had his lowest target count of the season and was held to just one reception after seemingly having a breakout in Week 3 with five catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Baltimore's passing attack suffered in the second half against the Chiefs after Lamar Jackson went out with a leg injury, though. Bateman's fantasy upside for Week 5 largely hinges on Jackson's health and availability against the Texans.
Sep 22, 2025
Gets into end zone Monday night
Bateman brought in five of seven targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 38-30 loss to the Lions on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Bateman finished second in receptions and receiving yards for the Ravens behind Mark Andrews, while also setting the pace in targets. Bateman recorded his first touchdown of the season on a three-yard grab just before halftime, and the fifth-year pro has now upped his yardage total over that of the prior game in consecutive contests heading into a Week 4 road showdown with the Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.
Sep 8, 2025
Finishes with two receptions Sunday
Bateman brought in two of four targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 41-40 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
It was a disappointing outing for Bateman in such a high-scoring affair, but he did manage to finish second in targets amongst Baltimore receiving options. The 2021 first-round selection posted a career best 45-756-9 receiving line for the Ravens in 2024, so there is hope that the No. 2 wideout can produce better numbers than what we saw in Sunday's loss. Bateman's next opportunity to cash in that potential comes in a home matchup against the Browns next Sunday.
Jun 5, 2025
Ravens sign to three-year extension
Baltimore signed Bateman to a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman inks a contract extension with the Ravens for a second straight offseason, after the team extended him on a two-year, $12.87 million deal through 2026 last April. The 2021 first-round pick put together the healthiest and most productive season of his career in 2024, suiting up for all 17 regular-season contests and securing 45 of 72 targets for 759 yards and nine touchdowns. He's emerged as a reliable deep threat and end zone target for Lamar Jackson, though Zay Flowers remains entrenched atop the wide receiver depth chart, and free agency signee DeAndre Hopkins is an additional competition for targets. With TEs Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely also involved in the passing game, and this team still deploying a run-first approach led by Derrick Henry, Bateman's ceiling in terms of target volume appears capped, but he figures to retain fantasy value as a boom-or-bust weekly option in 2025. Bateman's fantasy outlook is more positive in standard leagues than for PPR scoring.
Jan 19, 2025
Impressive effort in playoff loss
Bateman secured four of five targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 27-25 divisional-round loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman operated as the No. 1 receiver for the second time in as many playoff games due to Zay Flowers (knee) remaining sidelined. He kicked off the scoring on the evening with a 16-yard touchdown grab to cap off the game's opening possession, and he would follow it up with a 42-yard catch with just over six minutes remaining in the first half that brought the ball down to the Bills' two-yard line. Bateman ultimately finished tied for second in both receptions and targets with Isaiah Likely while also checking in as the runner-up in receiving yards behind his teammate. Bateman appeared to exit the game for good with an undisclosed injury after making a three-yard catch with 2:47 remaining and remaining down for a short time thereafter, an anticlimactic ending to a playoff run that followed a regular season where he produced career highs in receiving yards (756) and touchdowns (nine) on the second-highest catch total of his career (45) across 17 games. Bateman is signed through the 2026 season.
Jan 12, 2025
Early TD sparks offense
Bateman brought in both of his targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 28-14 playoff win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman got the scoring started for the Ravens when he brought in a 15-yard pass from Lamar Jackson to cap off a successful first drive on offense. The 25-year-old Bateman was used sparingly over the remainder of the contest despite operating as the team's No. 1 wideout sans Zay Flowers (knee). With the Ravens advancing to the divisional round, Flowers could potentially return against either the Bills or Chiefs. In that scenario, Bateman's elevated fantasy value from the wild-card round would return to marginal levels as opposed to carrying over to next weekend's matchup.
Jan 9, 2025
In line for No. 1 role
Bateman will work as the team's No. 1 wideout during Saturday's wild-card round game against the Steelers, with Zay Flowers (knee) ruled out, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman stepped up admirably after Flowers' departure against the Browns in Week 18, a 35-10 victory in which he secured five of eight targets for 76 yards and a score. Tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely also will be available to help make up for Flowers' absence in the passing game, but Bateman figures to have no shortage of opportunities to produce on a playoff stage Saturday. The 2021 first-round pick is coming off the best regular-season of his career, having compiled a 45-756-9 receiving line in 17 appearances.
Jan 4, 2025
Leading receiver in comfortable win
Bateman corralled five of eight targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 35-10 victory over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Bateman suffered slight injury scare after taking a hard hit over the middle of the field in the first half of Saturday's win. The 26-year-old was checked for a head injury and promptly returned to the contest. Bateman wound up tying his season high in targets (eight) after Zay Flowers (knee) left the game in the second quarter. If the latter is forced to miss Baltimore's first playoff game, Bateman could be in line for an increased role in next weekend's contest against either the Chargers or the Steelers. The Minnesota product finishes the regular season with a 45-756-9 line in 17 games.
Dec 27, 2024
Minimal usage in blowout
Bateman secured his lone target for a 12-yard gain in the Ravens' Christmas Day win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens built an insurmountable lead on the Texans, resulting in the starters taking a breather for much of the fourth quarter. This explains Bateman's 27 snaps, which marked a season-low. Lamar Jackson himself had just 15 pass attempts and 10 completions, so there simply weren't many opportunities available for any Ravens pass-catcher. Bateman and the Ravens return home to face the Browns in Week 18 with a chance to clinch the AFC North.
Dec 23, 2024
Notches eighth touchdown
Bateman caught one of three targets for 14 yards and a touchdown Saturday against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Though listed on the injury report with a foot injury going into the game, Bateman was able to play a healthy 81 percent of the snaps. He also notched his eighth touchdown of the season, adding to his career year. His eight touchdowns tie him for ninth in the league. Bateman and the Ravens have a quick turnaround as they will face the Texans in Houston on Christmas Day.
Dec 21, 2024
Active versus Steelers
Bateman (foot) is listed as active for Saturday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
After being a full participant Tuesday, Bateman was limited at practice Wednesday before being deemed a non-participant Thursday, as well as questionable for Saturday's contest. Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, the 2021 first-rounder was spotted wearing a walking boot in the locker room Thursday, but Bateman has evidently progressed to the point that he'll be available to face Pittsburgh after all. It remains to be seen if he'll be limited at all in the process, but Bateman's presence in any capacity bolsters a Ravens wideout corps that also features Zay Flowers, with Tylan Wallace, Devontez Walker and Anthony Miller on hand to provide support in the absence of Nelson Agholor (concussion) and Diontae Johnson, who the team waived Friday.
Dec 19, 2024
Questionable for Saturday
Bateman (foot) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was a mid-week addition to the injury report after not being listed Tuesday. He was a limited participant Wednesday before missing practice Thursday, with Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reporting that Bateman used a walking boot in the locker room Thursday morning/afternoon. His injury history adds to the concern, although there hasn't been any update on whether the current problem affects the same foot that required surgery in late 2022 to address a Lisfranc injury.
Dec 19, 2024
Seen with walking boot
Bateman was spotted with a walking boot on his foot in the Ravens' locker room Thursday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman didn't practice Thursday, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, with the wideout's status for Saturday's game against the Steelers now looking uncertain. The Ravens' final Week 16 injury report will reveal whether Bateman has a chance of suiting of suiting up this weekend, which also applies to fellow WR Nelson Agholor (concussion).
Dec 19, 2024
Not practicing Thursday
Bateman (foot) wasn't spotted participating in practice Thursday, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
After practicing fully Tuesday, Bateman was listed as limited Wednesday, so his absence from Thursday's session is notable. Added context with regard to his status for Saturday's game against the Steelers is set to arrive later Thursday when the Ravens' Week 16 injury report is posted.
Dec 18, 2024
Added to injury report
Bateman was added to the injury report Wednesday as a limited participant due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman wasn't listed Tuesday when the Ravens released their first injury report for Saturday's home game against the Steelers. His Thursday practice participation and game status should provide a better idea about whether he's actually in any danger of missing Week 16. Fellow Ravens wideout Nelson Agholor (concussion) seems unlikely to play, leaving Tylan Wallace and Devontez Walker as depth options while Diontae Johnson remains away from the team.
Dec 15, 2024
Two TD grabs in win
Bateman secured three of five targets for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens' 35-14 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman recorded a team-high receiving yardage total while also coming down with multiple touchdown catches for the first time in his career. The fourth-year pro managed 49- and 20-yard scoring grabs in the second quarter, leading him to his best yardage tally since Week 7. Bateman will aim to put together a successful encore at the expense of the division-rival Steelers in a Week 16 Saturday afternoon matchup.
Dec 11, 2024
Good to go after bye week
Bateman (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Week 14 bye gave Bateman plenty of time to recover from the knee injury that forced him out early from a loss to the Eagles in Week 13. He'll occupy his usual role as Baltimore's No. 2 wide receiver this Sunday against the Giants, having avoided any complications or workload reduction since the Ravens traded for Diontae Johnson, who is suspended this week for conduct detrimental to the team.
Dec 9, 2024
Practicing after bye
Bateman (knee) is participating in practice Monday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was forced out of Baltimore's loss to the Eagles in Week 13 due to what head coach John Harbaugh described as knee soreness, so it's encouraging to see him back on the practice field. The Ravens' bye week was well-timed for Bateman, who will continue to work at ramping up his health, with the target of retaking the field Sunday versus the Giants. Wednesday's first official practice report of the week will reveal whether Bateman is practicing in full or being capped as a 'limited' participant.
Dec 2, 2024
Injury not considered long-term
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman's knee injury isn't believed to be a long-term thing, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh said Bateman's knee is sore, and he's getting treatment this week. Bateman played 18 snaps in Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Eagles before leaving with the injury. In his absence, it was Tylan Wallace, not Diontae Johnson, who took over opposite Zay Flowers, with Nelson Agholor remaining the WR3. The Week 14 bye is coming at the right time for Bateman.
Dec 1, 2024
Out due to knee injury
Bateman has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Eagles due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman left the field with a limp in the third quarter and was deemed unable to rejoin the offense for the rest of Week 13, ending it without being targeted by QB Lamar Jackson. Considering he was ruled out so quickly, there's a chance he could be in line for some sort of absence, but fortunately for Bateman the Ravens have a Week 14 bye on top to aid in his recovery.
Nov 27, 2024
Hits pay dirt in win
Bateman caught two of three targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 30-23 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's touchdown Monday was his fifth score of the season, as the wideout is having his best statistical season as a Raven. The veteran has recorded 35 catches for 574 yards and five touchdowns through the first 12 games of the 2024 campaign. Bateman's touchdown against the Chargers came on a 40-yard pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson late in the first half to give the Ravens the lead that they wouldn't surrender for the rest of the contest. Operating as the No. 2 receiver on one of the league's best offenses, the 24-year-old has the potential to be useful for fantasy purposes most weeks while averaging over four targets per game. Bateman will look to build off of his solid Week 12 performance on limited touches when the Ravens host the Eagles in Week 13.
Nov 23, 2024
Good to go for Monday
Bateman (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Monday's Week 12 contest against the Chargers, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman popped up on the injury report as a DNP on Thursday due to a knee issue, but the injury was apparently minor as the wideout was estimated as a full participant at Saturday's walkthrough. As such, Bateman will be able to suit up against Los Angeles on Monday Night Football. He's tallied 11 catches on 17 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown over his past three games while working as Baltimore's No. 2 receiver behind Zay Flowers.
Nov 22, 2024
Added to injury report
Bateman didn't practice Friday due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman wasn't listed on the Ravens' injury report Thursday, so his addition to it one day later is notable. Added context regarding the wideout's status will arrive Saturday via his participation level as well as his game status for Monday night's game against the Chargers. If, however, Bateman is limited or out versus Los Angeles, Diontae Johnson, Nelson Agholor and Tylan Wallace would be candidates to log more Week 12 WR snaps for Baltimore alongside Zay Flowers.
Nov 18, 2024
Held in check by Steelers
Bateman caught two passes for 30 yards on five targets in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore's passing game had trouble getting in rhythm Sunday as Lamar Jackson had his least efficient game of the season. Bateman still drew a reasonable number of targets but his numbers suffered nonetheless. However, Bateman is having a career year with personal bests in yards and touchdowns with six games to go. Next up for Bateman and the Ravens is the Week 12 Monday Night Football showdown with the Chargers.
Nov 8, 2024
Gets into end zone Thursday
Bateman brought in six of eight targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 35-34 win over the Bengals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Bateman tied Mark Andrews for the team lead in receptions while setting the pace in targets. Bateman also snapped a two-game touchdown drought with a five-yard grab in the fourth quarter that snapped a 28-28 tie. The fourth-year wideout has been delivering the most consistent production since his rookie 2021 campaign, and he'll head into a pivotal Week 11 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 17 with a 31-501-4 line on 47 targets across his first 10 games.
Nov 6, 2024
Three grabs in win
Bateman caught three of four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was on the field for 35 of the Ravens 57 offensive snaps Sunday, the most of any Baltimore wideout and ahead of the Ravens' No. 1 receiver Zay Flowers (30). Despite his ample playing time, the 24-year-old Bateman was unable to get much going against the Broncos. It has been an inconsistent year for Bateman, and with the arrival of newly-acquired Diontae Johnson, its likely this inconsistency could intensify moving forward. The former Panther will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Bengals.
Oct 27, 2024
Ugly showing in loss
Bateman recorded one reception on five targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 29-24 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Bateman tied for second on the team in targets with Mark Andrews and Nelson Agholor, but it was a performance to forget. He struggled to get on the same page with Lamar Jackson throughout the game, which was illustrated by a drop on a deep target early in the fourth quarter that would have significantly improved his stat line. While it was an ugly showing for Bateman, he does have at least four targets in all but one game this season.
Oct 22, 2024
Makes most of four targets on MNF
Bateman caught all four of his targets for 121 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Nobody on the Ravens saw more than four targets as Lamar Jackson spread the wealth en route to five touchdown passes, but Bateman made the most of his opportunities with a 59-yard catch in the second quarter and a 49-yard touchdown reception in the third. Bateman has yet to record more than four catches in a game this season, but he's averaging a robust 18.8 yards per reception and has scored in three of his last five games. Up next for Bateman and the Ravens is a trip to Cleveland in Week 8.
Oct 13, 2024
Four grabs in Sunday's win
Bateman caught all four of his targets for 71 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Zay Flowers led the Ravens in receiving with a 9-132-0 line on nine targets, but Bateman made an impact with his limited looks. The receiving yards were a season high for the fourth-year wideout, but he's seen more than five targets in a game only once in four weeks. Bateman could be a factor again in a potentially high-scoring Week 7 clash with the Buccaneers.
Oct 11, 2024
Good to go for favorable matchup
Bateman (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Bateman had some soreness coming out of Baltimore's Week 5 win over the Bengals, but he steadily increased his practice participation throughout the week and was a full participant Friday. He'll slot into his usual role as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Zay Flowers against a generous Washington secondary that has allowed a league-high 10 receiving touchdowns to wide receivers.
Oct 10, 2024
Returns to practice
Bateman (groin) returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant.
ANALYSIS
Ravens coach John Harbaugh suggested Wednesday that Bateman isn't dealing with a serious injury, and it seems that's accurate given the wideout's quick return to practice. It remains to be seen if Bateman can avoid a game designation when the Ravens release their final injury report Friday afternoon.
Oct 9, 2024
Bothered by groin injury
Bateman didn't practice Wednesday due to a groin injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman had his usual role in Sunday's 41-38 overtime win at Cincinnati, handling 62 percent snap share and 77 percent route share while catching four passes for a season-high 58 yards and a TD on a season-high eight targets. Practice reports the next couple days should give a better idea if Bateman is truly at risk of missing Sunday's home game against the Commanders. Coach John Harbaugh seemed to downplay the injury Wednesday, noting that Bateman and others were merely dealing with normal "after-game type of things," per Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com.
Oct 7, 2024
Best game of season Sunday
Bateman caught four of eight targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's role is settling in as he played 63 percent of the snaps, marking the third week in a row with a snap share north of 60 percent. However, he was far more active this week as he set season-highs in targets, catches and yards. History suggests that there won't be many weeks where Baltimore is going to the air over 40 times, though it's not out of the question for the Week 6 game against Washington which is expected to be the highest-scoring matchup of the week. With that in mind, Bateman could be a viable waiver wire candidate for teams in need of a bye-week replacement.
Sep 30, 2024
Records one target in win
Bateman caught his lone target for a 23-yard gain in Sunday's win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Bateman nearly scored a touchdown for a second straight week but he was held by a Buffalo defensive back in the end zone and was unable to come down with the catch. The former first-round pick has played 60 and 63 percent of the snaps in recent weeks after playing over 8- percent of the snaps in the first two games of the season. Baltimore has started to lean on the ground game and deploy more multi-tight end sets, and fullback Patrick Ricard has been playing more snaps of late as well. For the Baltimore pass-catchers, the run/pass splits and personnel groupings diminish the opportunities they are likely to see each week. Baltimore has thrown fewer than 20 passes in back-to-back weeks while riding Derrick Henry and the ground game. The Ravens head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals in Week 5.
Sep 23, 2024
Finds end zone
Bateman recorded three catches on four targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-25 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Bateman tied with Zay Flowers to lead the team in targets, and the duo put up remarkably similar numbers. Bateman ultimately was on the better end of things thanks to a 13-yard touchdown reception just before halftime after settling into a wide open area of Dallas' zone defense. Bateman has not topped five targets in a game this season, so even if Baltimore is forced to take to the air more, Bateman does not have significant volume secured.
Sep 16, 2024
Makes three grabs Sunday
Bateman had three catches for 40 yards on four targets Sunday against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
There are positive indicators for Bateman's performance through two games. He has played over 80 percent of the snaps in each game and has drawn at least four targets in each outing. Bateman is up to seven catches for 93 yards on the year, good for a 10.3 YPT mark. Baltimore has the sixth-most pass attempts in the league through two weeks and with Bateman's snap share, he could start to capitalize on his opportunities soon. The Ravens host the Cowboys in Week 3.
Sep 6, 2024
Lightly used Thursday night
Bateman caught two passes for 53 yards on five targets in Thursday's loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was on the field for 84 percent of the snaps Thursday but finished fourth on the team in targets. The Ravens threw an uncharacteristic 41 times, something that won't happen too often this season in all likelihood, and he still could not draw Lamar Jackson's attention. Bateman being fourth in line for targets is a disappointing start for those believing in a breakout from him this season. However, the Ravens have a more favorable matchup in Week 2 with the Raiders going to Baltimore.
Aug 12, 2024
Back on the field
Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman, who exited last Monday's practice, didn't play in Friday's preseason opener, but now the wideout is back on the field, he'll have an opportunity to cement his key role in the Ravens' passing attack alongside fellow starting WR Zay Flowers. Assuming he can stay healthy, the 2021 first-rounder could be poised for a breakout effort in 2024 while working as one of QB Lamar Jackson's primary targets.
Aug 11, 2024
Expected to be back soon
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Sunday that he expects Bateman to return from an undisclosed injury soon, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman appeared to sustain an injury to his midsection during practice last Monday and did not play in Friday's 16-13 preseason loss to the Eagles. Harbaugh said Tuesday that he issue was nothing serious, and it's unlikely that he would have played Friday even if he was healthy, as the rest of Baltimore's first-team offense did not suit up either. Bateman missed 12 regular-season games with a foot injury during his sophomore 2022 campaign, but he missed just one game last season and caught 32 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown across 16 regular-season games.
Aug 6, 2024
Practice exit downplayed
Coach John Harbaugh noted Tuesday that the unspecified issue which caused Bateman to exit Monday's practice early is nothing serious, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Zrebiec relays that Bateman landed on the ball during Monday's session, which explains why the wideout appeared to be holding his ribs/midsection afterward. In any case, Bateman isn't expected to miss much time and his status for Friday's preseason opener against the Eagles could well hinge on the team's plans regarding whether starters will or won't play in the contest.
Aug 5, 2024
Exits practice Monday
Bateman appeared to injure his midsection during Monday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun, Bateman walked off with a trainer while appearing to hold his midsection or ribs and then didn't finish Monday's session. For now, consider Bateman day-to-day as Friday's preseason game against the Eagles approaches.
Jul 31, 2024
Back in action
Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
An unspecified issue caused Bateman to exit Monday's practice early, but his return to the field Wednesday aligns with coach John Harbaugh's previous assessment that the wideout wasn't dealing with anything major. As the 2024 campaign approaches, Bateman has a chance to see an uptick in production in his fourth year as a pro while working as one of Lamar Jackson's top targets alongside 2023 first-round WR Zay Flowers and star TE Mark Andrews.

Not practicing
Bateman (undisclosed) isn't practicing Tuesday, Bo Smolka of Press Box reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman will miss at least one practice after taking a hard hit to the torso Monday. Coach John Harbaugh downplayed the severity of the issue and suggested it's nothing more than soreness, which means Bateman should be back at practice quickly. The Ravens have hinted that he could take over as their No. 2 wide receiver all offseason, and it seems Bateman's still on track for that role ahead of 31-year-old Nelson Agholor and 2024 fourth-round pick Devontez Walker.

Bateman will miss at least one practice after taking a hard hit to the torso Monday. Coach John Harbaugh downplayed the severity and suggested it's nothing more than soreness, which means Bateman should be back at practice in the coming days/weeks. Monday's practice exit downplayed
Coach John Harbaugh indicated that the unspecified issue that forced Bateman out of Monday's practice early is nothing serious, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Zrebiec, it looked like Bateman absorbed a hit in the rib/stomach area prior to his exit Monday, but Harbaugh described the wideout's issue as just soreness. With that in mind, consider Bateman, who's poised to play a key role in Baltimore's pass-catching game this season, day-to-day.

Looks good at Monday's practice
Bateman turned in an impressive effort during Monday's training camp practice, according to Ryan Mink and Matt Ryan of the Ravens' official site.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Bateman recorded a catch Monday while falling to his back, grabbing the ball off his shoelaces in the process. Additionally, the wideout made a few more solid catches during the session, while dealing with rainy conditions. Meanwhile, the 2021 first-rounder drew the praise of head coach John Harbaugh, who noted that the 24-year-old is "expected to be a top receiver in the league for us." As the coming season approaches, Bateman could be poised for a breakout effort, while working as one of QB Lamar Jackson's top targets alongside 2023 first-rounder Zay Flowers.

Inks extension with Baltimore
Bateman signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was already under contract through the upcoming season in the final year of his rookie deal, but the Ravens had until May 2 to decide whether to exercise the receiver's $14.44 million team option for 2025. By reaching an extension with Bateman, the Ravens will no longer have to decide on whether to exercise or decline the option, as he's now on the team's books through 2026. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 of the Ravens' 17 regular-season games this past season, catching 32 of 56 targets for 367 yards and one touchdown. Despite Bateman's underwhelming production during his third NFL season, head coach John Harbaugh noted earlier in the offseason that he views the wideout as a candidate to "take a big step" forward in 2024, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site. The Ravens' pass-catching corps should look mostly similar in 2024 as it did in 2023, as No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers is entering his second season and standout tight end Mark Andrews is back in the fold, though Odell Beckham is currently a f

Step forward expected in 2024
Coach John Harbaugh reiterated Wednesday that he expects Bateman to "take a big step" forward in 2024.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh made similar comments in early February, telling reporters that the 2021 first-round pick will be a starter in 2024 and is expected to take a lot more snaps. On the other hand, the Ravens have already re-signed WR Nelson Agholor, and Harbaugh said he's also hoping to keep Odell Beckham around. Neither of those guys would automatically block Bateman from a starting job, but both could be threats to his quantity of snaps/routes, just as they were in 2023. Bateman did seem to get open more often as 2023 progressed, perhaps regaining explosiveness with time after undergoing season-ending Lisfranc surgery the year prior. A breakout of sorts is certainly possible, but it probably wouldn't translate to much in fantasy terms given that the Ravens routinely rank near the bottom of the league in pass attempts and have WR Zay Flowers and TE Mark Andrews to account for a large chunk of the targets.
Feb 20, 2024
Falls flat in Year 3
Bateman finished the 2023 season with 32 catches for 367 yards and one touchdown on 56 targets.
ANALYSIS
The bright spot for Bateman was that he was able to stay healthy for most of the season and play a career-high 16 games. Other than that, it was a down season in what was an important year for the former first-round pick. He caught just 57 percent of his targets and had a 7.1 percent drop rate. Bateman was also not a threat after the catch with an average of 2.1 YAC per reception. Quarterback Lamar Jackson averaged 8.0 yards per attempt but Bateman averaged just 6.6 yards per target. Bateman's role was sound with the second-most snaps on the team among receivers, he just wasn't able to draw targets rapidly or convert those targets efficiently. Bateman now enters the final year of his rookie deal with significant pressure to produce. It's also worth noting that the Ravens could look to add a receiver in what is widely considered to be a strong group in the draft.
Jan 20, 2024
Tallies 39 yards
Bateman recorded three receptions on three targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 34-10 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore dominated the Texans on the ground, limiting its need to take to the air. That led to diminished volume for all of the team's pass catchers, allowing Bateman to finish tied for third on the team in targets. His first catch was his most impactful, as it pushed the Ravens into field-goal range on their first offensive possession. Bateman also tacked on a 21-yard gain in the third quarter, the team's second-longest gain from scrimmage. He's had a disappointing season overall, though Bateman now has multiple catches in four of his last six contests.
Jan 8, 2024
No targets in Week 18
Rashod Bateman was not targeted on 27 snaps in Saturday's loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
With Tyler Huntley in at quarterback and Lamar Jackson resting for the postseason, Baltimore's passing game was always going to look different in Week 18. That proved to be true as running back Justice Hill led the team with twice as many targets (10) as any other Baltimore pass-catcher. Huntley averages just 6.1 yards downfield on his throws while Bateman's average depth of target checks in at 14.1 yards, so his routes were not run in areas of the field that Huntley often looks to throw. Prior to Week 18, Bateman had averaged five targets per game over his last five outings, catching 12 of them for 152 yards and no touchdowns. Bateman and the Ravens will be idle this week before returning to action in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.
Jan 1, 2024
Four catches in big win
Bateman secured four of six targets for 54 yards in the Ravens' 56-19 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's numbers were not particularly remarkable, but it's worth noting he led the team in targets while checking in second in receptions. The second-year wideout's catch and yardage totals were also season highs, but it remains to be seen if Bateman will have a chance to build on them in Week 18 against the Steelers with Baltimore already having clinched the AFC's top seed.
Dec 27, 2023
One catch in win
Bateman caught one of four targets for 14 yards in Monday's 33-19 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's was held under 20 receiving yards for the sixth time this season, as the wideout continues to produce modestly each week. The 24-year-old's solid usage is promising, but he has struggled throughout the season to make much noise as a fantasy contributor. Bateman will look to get more involved when the Ravens host the Dolphins in Week 17.
Dec 18, 2023
Outplays team's other WRs in win
Bateman caught three of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Bateman tied tight end Isaiah Likely for the team lead in targets, while Odell Beckham and Zay Flowers were held to just one catch apiece on five combined targets. The 24-year-old wideout set new season highs in both targets (six) and receiving yards (39). While his uptick in usage was encouraging, Bateman remains stuck on one touchdown heading into a Week 16 matchup with the 49ers.
Dec 11, 2023
Another pedestrian outing Sunday
Bateman caught two of four targets for 24 yards Sunday against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
It continues to be a disappointing season for Bateman as he was out-snapped and out-targeted by Nelson Agholor and was once again held under 30 receiving yards. Bateman has a mere 11 percent target share and is only drawing targets on 17 percent of his routes, which ranks in the 42nd percentile among receivers. To compound the volume issues, Bateman is only catching 55 percent of his targets. His usage has only ticked up slightly since Baltimore had to reconfigure the target distribution in Mark Andrews' absence and the bulk of the passing game is centered on the trio of Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham and Isaiah Likely.

Logs full practice Thursday
Bateman (illness) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman missed Wednesday's session, but his return to a full session a day later sets the stage for the wideout to be available for Sunday's game against the Rams. In the Ravens' 20-10 win over the Chargers in Week 12, Bateman caught two of his five targets for 21 yards, continuing a modest rate of production that's yielded him a 22/236/1 receiving line through 11 games this season.
Dec 7, 2023
Back at practice
Bateman (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman missed Wednesday's session, but his return to the field a day later has him trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams. The Ravens' upcoming practice report will reveal whether Bateman practiced fully or was limited Thursday.
Dec 6, 2023
Feeling sick
Bateman missed Wednesday's practice with an illness.
ANALYSIS
Coach John Harbaugh said Bateman may return to practice as soon as Thursday. He'll likely be fine for Sunday's game against the Rams, with Odell Beckham and Nelson Agholor the top candidates for added playing time in the unlikely event Bateman doesn't end up playing.
Nov 27, 2023
Held in check by Chargers
Bateman caught two of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's usage ticked up in Baltimore's first game without Mark Andrews (ankle), but his production remained stagnant as he was held under 30 yards for the fourth consecutive week. Bateman has played over 80 percent of Baltimore's offensive snaps over the last two weeks, so his role is solidified. However, Bateman continues to struggle to convert those snaps into bankable fantasy production. He has a catch rate of just 55.6 percent, which is in the 30th percentile among receivers. Baltimore is on a bye in Week 13 before returning to action against the Rams on Dec. 10.
Nov 23, 2023
Logs full practice Thursday
Bateman (foot) was listed as a full participant in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman downplayed the foot issue that limited him in practice Wednesday and his return to a full session a day later sets the stage for him to be available Sunday night against the Chargers. Bateman's production thus far has been modest, but there could be some extra targets up for grabs this weekend, with star tight end Mark Andrews out with an ankle injury and top wide receiver Zay Flowers having missed practice Thursday with a hip issue.
Nov 22, 2023
Not worried about injury
Bateman downplayed his foot injury Wednesday afternoon, following an early exit from practice and 'limited' designation on the injury report, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Bateman still expects to play Sunday night against the Chargers, and the Ravens might need him more than usual with Odell Beckham (shoulder - DNP), Zay Flowers (hip - LP) and Devin Duvernay (knee - LP) all on the injury report right after TE Mark Andrews suffered a season-ending leg injury. It's unclear if Bateman and/or Beckham will practice Thursday/Friday, with both currently looking uncertain for Sunday even if their injuries aren't considered long term. Bateman did suggest his current foot issue is related to the Lisfranc surgery that ended his 2022 campaign early, noting that what happened at Wednesday's practice was, "something guys coming off of injuries deal with from time to time."
Nov 22, 2023
Injures foot but should be fine
Bateman left Wednesday's practice early due to a foot injury, but coach John Harbaugh said the wide receiver "should be fine" for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Bateman went down running a route early in practice with an injury to the same foot he had surgically repaired prior to the season. While the Ravens were initially concerned over the injury, they seem to believe the wide receiver should be available moving forward, but his availability in practice over the remainder of the week will be worth monitoring.
Nov 17, 2023
Maximizes one catch in win
Bateman brought in one of two targets for a 10-yard touchdown in the Ravens' 34-20 win over the Bengals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Bateman extended the Ravens' lead to 21-10 with his late second-quarter grab. The speedy third-year wideout has yet to top three receptions in any game this season, and his score Thursday was his first since Week 2 of the 2022 campaign. Bateman has show very little fantasy upside thus far this season, but the likely season-ending ankle injury sustained by Mark Andrews could certainly lead to at least a slight bump in targets for Bateman moving forward.
Nov 14, 2023
Catches two passes in loss
Bateman secured two of his four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 33-31 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Bateman played a season-high 74 percent of snaps Sunday, though his production left much to be desired. The veteran wideout continued his streak of underwhelming performances, as he is averaging just 22.8 yards per game so far in 2023. Bateman's role in the offense seems to be growing in recent weeks, but his increased involvement has not resulted in much production. The 23-year-old will be difficult to trust for consistent fantasy production going forward, starting with a Week 11 matchup against the Bengals.
Nov 10, 2023
In clear for Week 10
Bateman (back) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
A mid-week addition to the injury report after the back issue rendered him a limited participant Thursday, Bateman took every rep Friday to clear up any concern about his availability for Sunday. While appearing in eight of the Ravens' nine games to date, Bateman has held a consistent yet unexciting role in the team's passing attack. He's drawn between two and five targets in all eight of his outings, catching 17 passes for 180 yards and no touchdowns.
Nov 9, 2023
Added to Week 10 injury report
Bateman (back) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was a full participant in Wednesday's session, so it appears as though the wideout may have tweaked his back during Thursday's practice. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Bateman heads into Sunday's game against the Browns with an injury designation or cleared for Week 10 action. If he's out of limited this weekend, added snaps would be available for Nelson Agholor and Devin Duvernay in a Baltimore WR corps that also includes Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham.
Nov 7, 2023
Held in check Sunday
Bateman caught three of five targets for 28 yards against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore was not explosive through the air Sunday with just 217 combined passing yards between Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Aside from Mark Andrews, no Baltimore pass-catcher had significant production. Bateman logged 56 percent of the snaps on offense, a slight dip from Week 8 in Arizona, though it's worth noting that the Ravens emptied the bench late in the game. Bateman's five targets marked a new season-high, so even with the meager production Sunday, he does seem to be carving out a larger role as the season progresses. Baltimore hosts Cleveland in Week 10.
Oct 30, 2023
Showing signs of progress
Bateman caught both of his targets for 34 yards Sunday against the Cardinals and added an 18-yard rush.
ANALYSIS
Though the target volume remains underwhelming, Bateman is quietly turning a corner with his efficiency. In the three games since his tough outing against the Steelers, Bateman has caught six of eight targets for 85 yards (10.6 YPT) and showed some burst after the catch in one instance Sunday. It's also worth noting that Bateman played 63 percent of the snaps Sunday -- his highest mark since Week 3 when he tweaked his hamstring. A fully healthy Bateman improving his catch rate and explosiveness could pay fantasy dividends before too long. The Ravens host the Seahawks in Week 9.
Oct 23, 2023
Catches go for big gains Sunday
Bateman caught two of three targets for 36 yards in Sunday's win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Given Bateman's slow start to the season, Sunday marked significant improvement for the former first-rounder. He may not have had a high target share but Bateman was efficient with his opportunities and notched a new season-high in yardage. Bateman played more snaps than Nelson Agholor so it will be interesting to see if that's the start of a trend going forward. The Ravens take on the Cardinals in Arizona in Week 8.
Oct 16, 2023
Minor impact Sunday
Bateman caught two of three targets for 15 yards Sunday against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Bateman played roughly 50 percent of Baltimore's offensive snaps and yet he drew just 10 percent of Baltimore's targets as he continues to have a minor role in the passing game. He has not eclipsed more than 30 yards in any game since the opener and his one target that did not result in a catch ultimately resulted in an interception on an apparent miscommunication. Bateman and the Ravens return home to face the Lions in Week 7, and though Bateman continues to play a decent chunk of snaps, there aren't signs pointing to his receiving production having a massive uptick going forward.
Oct 9, 2023
Costly drop in return
Bateman caught one of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was inefficient in his return from a hamstring injury and had a costly drop in the end zone. He finished the day with one reception on 27 snaps, which ranked fourth among Ravens receivers Sunday. Bateman has eight catches for 67 yards on 12 targets through four games with uninspiring marks in his peripheral numbers such as yards per route run and yards after the catch. Baltimore travels to London to face the Titans in Week 6.
Oct 6, 2023
Ready to return Sunday
Bateman (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest in Pittsburgh, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman set himself up to miss just one game as a result of a hamstring injury by putting together three consecutive full practices during Week 5 prep. The same can't be said for Odell Beckham (ankle), who was limited all week and is listed as questionable heading into the weekend. If Beckham is hindered or sidelined Sunday, it'll improve the prospects of Bateman alongside rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers. Through three games this season, Bateman has managed just seven catches (on nine targets) for 59 yards.
Oct 4, 2023
Practices without limitations
Bateman (hamstring) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
With that, Bateman is set to return for Sunday's matchup with the Steelers after missing only one game. The extent of his role will partially depend on the health of Odell Beckham, who returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant after missing the past two weeks with an ankle injury. Beckham and Zay Flowers both worked ahead of Bateman the first two weeks of the season, and Bateman hasn't done anything that would move him higher up the depth chart when everyone is healthy.
Sep 29, 2023
Won't play Sunday
Bateman (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Odell Beckham (ankle) was also ruled out for the contest, which sets the stage for Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor and Devin Duvernay to lead the Ravens' receiver corps, with Laquon Treadwell a potential practice squad elevation, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. Bateman's next chance to see game action will come Oct. 8, when Baltimore faces Pittsburgh on the road.
Sep 29, 2023
Remains sidelined Friday
Bateman (hamstring) wasn't spotted at Friday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Odell Beckham (ankle) was also sitting out the session, and with neither wideout having practiced in any capacity this week, both appearance to be trending toward absences Sunday against the Browns. The Ravens will release their final Week 4 injury report later Friday, when it will be known whether Bateman is ruled out prior to Sunday or if he'll carry a questionable or doubtful designation into the contest.
Sep 28, 2023
Idle for another practice
Bateman (hamstring) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman hasn't taken part in either of the Ravens' first two Week 4 practices and will now have one more opportunity to fit in some on-field work prior to Sunday's game in Cleveland. With Odell Beckham (also) also sitting out a fifth consecutive practice, the Ravens' receiving depth could be tested this weekend if both he and Bateman fail to get the green light to play. Beyond No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers, the Ravens have Nelson Agholor and Devin Duvernay as their other healthy receivers on the 53-man roster.
Sep 27, 2023
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Bateman (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Jonas Shaffer of the Baltimore Banner reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman and Odell Beckham (ankle) were both absent. The banged-up wide receivers will have two more opportunities to practice before Sunday's game against the Browns. Should Bateman or Beckham sit, Nelson Agholor would be poised to garner more opportunities alongside rookie Zay Flowers.
Sep 24, 2023
Dealing with hamstring issue
Bateman noted after Sunday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Colts that his hamstring tightened up on him during the contest, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Zrebiec indicates that Bateman was laboring late in the game and walked back to locker room with a pronounced limp, the wideout doesn't think his hamstring issue is anything serious. That said, Bateman's status is now worth tracking (along with that of fellow WR Odell Beckham/ankle) as next weekend's tilt against the Browns approaches.
Sep 19, 2023
Minimal involvement in passing game
Bateman caught all three of his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's role increased in terms of playing time Sunday as his snap count increased from 22 to 42, but that did not lead to an uptick in targets. He caught all three of his targets in the opener for 35 yards and his per-target efficiency this week dropped from 11.7 YPT to 6.0. Odell Beckham aggravated an ankle issue against the Bengals and it was Nelson Agholor who stepped up with five catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Bateman remains third on the team in snaps among receivers (64) but he is not consistently drawing targets just yet. The former first-rounder was impressive in 2022 (10.2 YPT, two touchdowns on 28 targets) before an injury cut his season short, so it's still too early to jump ship on Bateman being an impact player this year. He'll have an opportunity to break out in Week 3 when Baltimore hosts Indianapolis.
Sep 10, 2023
Three catches in season-opening win
Bateman brought in all three targets for 35 yards in the Ravens' 25-9 win over the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's first foray into regular-season action since Week 8 of last season, when a Lisfranc injury cut his 2022 campaign short. The third-year wideout saw rookie Zay Flowers dominate targets in what was a low-volume day overall for the air attack, but Bateman should have a good chance for more work in what projects for a more competitive matchup on the road against the Bengals in Week 2.
Sep 7, 2023
Healthy heading into Week 1
Bateman avoided the Ravens' Week 1 injury report and reiterated Wednesday that he's fully recovered from last year's Lisfranc foot surgery and ready to go for Sunday's season opener versus the Texans, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman has been snakebitten on the injury front through his first two NFL seasons, missing the first five games of his rookie campaign while recovering from groin surgery and then playing just six games in 2022 before sustaining the foot injury. The 23-year-old has at least looked like a foundational piece for the Baltimore passing attack when healthy, compiling a 61-800-3 receiving line on 96 targets through his first 18 career games. He'll face more competition for targets at receiver in 2023 with the Ravens adding veterans Odell Beckham and Nelson Agholor and first-round draft pick Zay Flowers to the position group, but Bateman still boasts the sort of speed and athleticism to emerge as the No. 1 option among the quartet.
Aug 23, 2023
Foot feels 99 percent healthy
Bateman said on Wednesday that his surgically-repaired foot feels "99 percent" healthy, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman had Lisfranc surgery last season and started training camp on the PUP list. He was activated on Aug. 9 and progressed to 11-on-11 work and team drills just last week. "I feel good. I feel strong," Bateman said. "I'm better than I was during OTAs. I'm making good progress so far." As long as his foot returns to full health, Bateman is arguably the Ravens' most talented wideout. He, Zay Flowers, and Odell Beckham should be fixtures in three-wide sets, with veteran Nelson Agholor subbing in as the WR4.
Aug 18, 2023
Back in action
Bateman (foot) returned to practice Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman had missed practice the previous two days, but coach John Harbaugh noted Wednesday that the wideout hadn't experienced any setbacks with his surgically-repaired foot. "There's a process to getting guys back," Harbaugh noted of Bateman. "He's on schedule." As the coming season approaches, the 2021 first-rounder is in line to be a key cog in a revamped Ravens WR corps that also includes veteran newcomers Odell Beckham and Nelson Agholor, as well a promising rookie Zay Flowers. Assuming he can stay healthy, Bateman looks poised for a bounce-back in 2023, after being limited to six games last season, during which he recorded a 15-285-2 receiving line.
Aug 10, 2023
Working in individual drills
Bateman (foot) has been limited to individual drills since coming off the PUP list, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With regard to Bateman's progress, coach John Harbaugh noted Thursday, "I think we'll see as we go, but it's very promising right now. He looked good to me, and I'm excited to see him out there. Obviously, it's big for us." Either way, the wideout isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles, with Baltimore's established starters slated to sit out the contest.
Aug 9, 2023
Comes off PUP list
The Ravens activated Bateman (foot) off the active/PUP list Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman began training camp on the PUP list after receiving a cortisone shot in his foot earlier this offseason, though he did participate in minicamp on a limited basis. Coach John Harbaugh said on the first day of training camp that "Bateman's Lisfranc surgery is good; he's fine," but soreness kept the 2021 first-round pick off the field until now. If the Ravens remain cautious and want to ramp up Bateman's practice load he could still be held out of Saturday's preseason opener against the Eagles, but it will be encouraging for fantasy managers to at least see the wideout back on the field for crucial first-team reps.
Aug 7, 2023
Spotted running on side field
Bateman (foot) remains on the active/PUP list, but he was spotted running on an adjacent field during practice Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the first time Bateman has been spotted working during practice since undergoing a cortisone shot earlier this offseason, so it certainly can be considered a positive development. However, it remains unclear when the wideout will be able to participate in practice again. On Friday, head coach John Harbaugh said Bateman "has a chance to be out there pretty soon," but that quote doesn't offer a specific return timeline either. For now, it appears fantasy managers will just have to play the wait-and-see game.
Aug 4, 2023
Could practice soon
Coach John Harbaugh noted Friday that Bateman (foot) has "chance to be out there pretty soon," Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens placed Bateman on the active/PUP list to start training camp, but it appears as though he's inching toward a return to practice. That said, Harbaugh declined to give time-frame for when that might occur, so at this stage the wideout's status for the team's preseason opener (Aug. 12, against the Eagles) remains cloudy.
Jul 24, 2023
Lands on PUP list
The Ravens have placed Bateman (foot) on the PUP list to start training camp, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hensley notes that Bateman, who was reinstated and activated from the reserve/did not report list Sunday, is still dealing with a foot issue that he dealt with last season. While there isn't a timetable for the wideout's return to practice, Hensley suggests that it "wouldn't be surprising if (Bateman) missed the first week or two of camp."
Jul 23, 2023
Reports to training camp
The Ravens activated Bateman (foot) from the reserve/did not report list Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman wasn't present for the start of training camp Friday, but he's since joined the team and will presumably start practicing soon. The 2021 first-round pick is about eight months removed from Lisfranc surgery, and he had been a partial participant during OTAs in May before being held out of June minicamp following a cortisone shot. When available, Bateman figures to play a key role in Baltimore's passing attack, which is expected to be improved in 2023 after the offseason additions of Odell Beckham and Zay Flowers.

Not at training camp
The Ravens placed Bateman (foot) on the reserve/did not report list Friday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.

Bateman was a partial participant during OTAs in May, but he was held out of June minicamp after getting a cortisone shot. The 2021 first-round pick is about eight months removed from Lisfranc surgery, but Baltimore's brass is optimistic the wideout will be ready for Week 1. "I have spoken to Rashod and we expect him here very soon," General Manager Eric DeCosta said Friday.
Jun 13, 2023
Not practicing after cortisone shot
Bateman (foot) will be held out of June minicamp after getting a cortisone shot, but coach John Harbaugh still expects the wideout to be ready for training camp.
ANALYSIS
Bateman resumed running in April and managed some level of participation during OTAs in May, with Harbaugh using the phrases "right on schedule" and "chomping at the bit" to describe the wideout's progress. Bateman is about seven months removed from surgery on a Lisfranc injury, and it's unclear if the cortisone shot indicates a minor setback or is simply part of the rehab plan to get him back on the field by Week 1.
May 24, 2023
On schedule
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Bateman (foot) is "right on schedule" in his rehab process and "chomping at the bit" to practice.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh suggested trainers have been holding Bateman back from full participation at the first week of OTAs, six months after he had surgery on a season-ending Lisfranc injury. The 2021 first-round pick will be more than eight months past the surgery when training camp starts, facing target competition from newcomers Odell Beckham and Zay Flowers in an offense that's expected to more WR-friendly under new coordinator Todd Monken.
May 22, 2023
Participating in OTAs
Bateman (foot) took the field Monday for Baltimore's first OTA practice, Clifton Brown of BaltimoreRavens.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming back from Lisfranc surgery in November, the 23-year-old wideout resumed running in April and was working out with new teammate Odell Beckham in mid-May. While he may have limitations this spring given the serious nature of last year's injury, Bateman seems to be on track for Week 1 in a new-look Ravens offense with OC Todd Monken calling the shots and Beckham and first-round pick Zay Flowers competing for WR snaps/targets.
Apr 20, 2023
Resumes running
Bateman (foot) recently resumed running, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said March 27 that Bateman was doing well and would be ready to resume running in three weeks. The wide receiver confirmed he met that prediction in an Instagram post Wednesday, which seemingly keeps him on track to meet Harbaugh's expectation of being "healthier than ever" by the time the season starts. Bateman does figure to be absent or limited throughout the offseason program as the team slowly brings him back from last year's season-ending Lisfranc surgery in November. The 2021 first-rounder enters his third season with bit more competition for targets after the Ravens signed Odell Beckham Jr., though there may also be more passes to go around with Todd Monken replacing Greg Roman as offensive coordinator. The biggest question, of course, is whether Bateman and Beckham end up catching passes from Lamar Jackson or another quarterback, as Jackson still hasn't signed his franchise tag and requested a trade back in March.
Mar 27, 2023
Continues to progress
While speaking with reporters at the NFL's Annual League Meeting, coach John Harbaugh relayed Monday that Bateman (foot) is "healthy and going to be running in three weeks."
ANALYSIS
The wideout, who last saw game action Week 8 of the 2022 regular season, continues to move past surgery to address a Lisfranc foot injury, with Harbaugh expressing confidence that Bateman will be "ready to roll" and "healthier than ever" as the coming season approaches. Once the 2021 first-rounder re-takes the field, he'll reclaim his starting role in a Baltimore wideout corps that also includes Devin Duvernay (foot) and free-agent newcomer Nelson Agholor. At this stage, however, it remains to be seen how the team's QB situation plays out, with Lamar Jackson (who the Ravens have placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on) having indicated Monday that he requested a trade earlier this month.
Jan 19, 2023
Making progress with foot injury
Coach John Harbaugh indicated Thursday that Bateman (foot) should be able to run at full speed "really soon," Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman, who is bouncing back from surgery to address a Lisfranc foot injury, last saw game action in Week 8 of the 2022 regular season, but it sounds like the 2021 first-rounder will be ready to go once the Ravens next take the field. Prior to being placed on IR, Bateman caught 15 of his 28 targets for 285 yards and two TDs in six games. Provided he avoids any setbacks ahead of the 2023 campaign, the 6-foot-1, 197-pounder should reclaim his starting slot in what figures to be a retooled Baltimore wideout corps.
Nov 7, 2022
Officially on IR
The Ravens have placed Bateman (foot) on injured reserve, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Bateman out for the season with a Lisfranc foot injury that will be surgically repaired, the Ravens will proceed with a wideout corps now led by Devin Duvernay, that also includes Demarcus Robinson (groin), James Proche, Tylan Wallace, DeSean Jackson and Binjimen Victor.
Nov 3, 2022
Done for the season
Head coach John Harbaugh said Thursday that Bateman will undergo season-ending surgery to address a Lisfranc injury to his left foot, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Bateman done for the season, Devin Duvernay now profiles as the Ravens' top wideout, with Demarcus Robinson, James Proche and Tylan Wallace in the mix for added snaps in the coming weeks. Bateman finishes his sophomore campaign with15 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns on 28 targets across six appearances.
Oct 31, 2022
Slated to miss time
Bateman is in line to miss time with a foot injury, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The foot injury that Bateman suffered this past Thursday against the Buccaneers ended up being more serious than initially thought, with coach John Harbaugh noting Monday that it looks "it looks like it's going to be a few weeks" for the wideout. In Bateman's looming absence, added snaps will be available for Demarcus Robinson and James Proche alongside Devin Duvernay.
Oct 27, 2022
Aggravated foot injury
Bateman aggravated his foot injury in Thursday's 27-22 win over the Buccaneers, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was questionable leading up to the Ravens' Week 8 matchup with a foot injury that has nagged him for the past three weeks. He managed to suit up but was minimally involved before being formally ruled out midway through the third quarter. It's unclear if Bateman may be forced to miss additional time, though he'll have nine days until Baltimore's Week 9 matchup against the Saints.
Oct 27, 2022
Out after playing minimally
Bateman was ruled out of Thursday's game against the Buccaneers with a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was questionable heading into Thursday's game after practicing fully Wednesday. However, he was on the field minimally throughout the first half and was targeted only once prior to being ruled out midway through the third quarter. The Ravens are also without Mark Andrews (shoulder), which has left Demarcus Robinson, Isaiah Likely, Devin Duvernay and James Proche as the team's primary pass catchers.
Oct 27, 2022
Listed as active Thursday
Bateman (foot) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman, who was a non-participant in Tuesday's practice before being listed as a full participant Wednesday, approached the contest listed as questionable, but he'll be available Thursday and is in line to see his share of Week 8 targets from QB Lamar Jackson alongside fellow WR Devin Duvernay. In his return to action from a two-game absence in this past Sunday's 23-20 win over the Browns, Bateman started and was on the field for 36 of a possible 64 snaps en route to catching four of his team-high five targets for 42 yards.
Oct 27, 2022
Expected to play Thursday
Bateman (foot) is expected to play Thursday night against the Buccaneers, barring any pre-game setbacks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for TE Mark Andrews (knee) and RB Gus Edwards (knee), with the trio having been listed as questionable for the contest by the Ravens. Confirmation of the three player's Week 8 status is slated to arrive when inactives are posted ahead of Thursday's 8:15 ET kickoff.
Oct 27, 2022
Hopeful to play Thursday
Bateman (foot) is hopeful that he'll be able to play Thursday night against the Buccaneers, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Though listed as a full participant on Wednesday's injury report, the Ravens listed Bateman as questionable for the contest. Official confirmation of the wideout's Week 8 status will arrive once the team's inactives are posted ahead of Thursday's 8:15 ET kickoff, but if available, Bateman would be in line to continue to start alongside fellow WR Devin Duvernay.
Oct 26, 2022
Questionable despite full practice
Bateman (foot) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman went from not listed on the injury report Monday to a non-participant Tuesday to full participation Wednesday. That final development puts him on the right side of questionable, with confirmation to come about 90 minutes before the 8:20 ET kickoff Thursday night. With TE Mark Andrews (knee) also listed as questionable and not practicing at all this week, Bateman could be tasked with a larger-than-usual share of Baltimore's targets against a Bucs defense that's missing four of its top six players in the secondary.
Oct 25, 2022
DNP due to foot injury
Bateman didn't practice Tuesday due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was sidelined Weeks 5 and 6 as a result of a foot concern, so the Ravens may be giving him a day off in the wake of hauling in four of five targets for 42 yards in his return to action this past Sunday against the Browns. Wednesday's practice report will indicate whether or not he heads into Thursday with a designation ahead of a road matchup with the Buccaneers.
Oct 25, 2022
Not spotted at practice Tuesday
Bateman wasn't spotted during the portion of Tuesday's practice open to the media, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reprots.
ANALYSIS
The specifics of Bateman's absence are not yet clear, but it's certainly a concerning development with the Ravens on a short week. The wideout returned to action in Week 7 following a two-game absence due to a foot injury and caught four of five targets for 42 yards -- all team highs. The extent of the situation should become clearer when Baltimore releases its official injury report.
Oct 23, 2022
Four catches in win
Bateman (foot) brought in four of five targets for 42 yards in the Ravens' 23-20 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman led the Ravens in receptions in his return from a two-game absence due to a foot injury, and he also shared the team lead in receiving yardage with Devin Duvernay. Now that the second-year wideout seems to be back to full health, he'll aim to make a bigger impact in a Week 8 Thursday night road showdown against the Buccaneers.
Oct 23, 2022
Back in action Sunday
Bateman (foot) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
A left foot sprain kept Bateman sidelined for the Ravens' last two games, but the 2021 first-rounder is back in the mix Sunday and barring any setbacks, should return to a key role in the team's passing attack alongside top tight end Mark Andrews. Prior to sustaining his injury in Week 4, Bateman had caught 11 passes for 243 yards and two TDs on 22 targets, and as long as he remains available the 22-year-old should log steady enough opportunities in the coming weeks to merit fantasy lineup consideration.
Oct 23, 2022
Expected to return Week 7
Bateman (foot) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Browns, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman and Mark Andrews (knee), both officially listed as questionable, are expected to be available for Sunday's divisional matchup against Cleveland. The 2021 first-round pick is coming off back-to-back absences due to a left foot sprain. Bateman's status still may come down to the wire ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, as Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports that the wideout said Friday the final decision will be left to coach John Harbaugh.
Oct 21, 2022
Status in question for Sunday
Bateman (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
After missing the Ravens' last two contests due to a left foot sprain, Bateman was able to get back on the field this week and maintain limited showings at practice, setting him up for his first appearance since Week 4. Having said that, he told Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com on Friday that his availability this weekend is a "coach Harbs" decision, referring to John Harbaugh. As a result, Bateman's status likely won't be confirmed until 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 20, 2022
Limited Thursday
Bateman (foot) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's Week 7 status is unsettled after missing the last two weeks with his foot sprain, but even two limited practices is a somewhat encouraging development given where he started from. So long as he maintains at least limited participation in Friday's practice he could have a good shot to return to the field against Cleveland on Sunday.
Oct 19, 2022
Returns to limited practice
Bateman (foot) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
It's his first participation since suffering a foot sprain Week 4, giving Bateman a chance to play this Sunday against the Browns. A return to full participation Thursday or Friday would put him on track to play.
Oct 19, 2022
Spotted at practice
Bateman (foot) appears to be practicing Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman was nearing a return after missing two games with a foot sprain. Bateman hasn't practiced since suffering the injury Week 4, and his return Wednesday gives him a shot to be ready for a home game against Cleveland this Sunday.
Oct 17, 2022
Close to return per coach
Coach John Harbaugh revealed Monday that Bateman has a sprained left foot and deemed the wide receiver close to returning, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Harabugh clarified the nature of the foot injury that has kept Bateman out of Baltimore's last two games. It sounds like there's optimism that absence could draw to a close Sunday against the Browns, though Bateman's participation or lack thereof in practice will likely provide a better approximation of his chances of suiting up in Week 7.
Oct 14, 2022
Ruled out for Week 6
Bateman (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
With Bateman slated to be out of action for the second straight game, look for Devin Duvernay to continue to lead the Ravens' wideout corps in Week 6, while Demarcus Robinson, James Proche and Tylan Wallace are also in the mix for added snaps and top tight end Mark Andrews a candidate to remain busy versus New York.
Oct 14, 2022
Misses another practice
Bateman (foot) remained sidelined at practice Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With that, Bateman is trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Giants. If he's ruled out for the second straight week, Devin Duvernay would continue to lead the Ravens' WR corps in Week 6, with Demarcus Robinson, James Proche and Tylan Wallace also in the mix for added snaps versus New York.
Oct 13, 2022
Out for another practice
Bateman (foot) isn't practicing Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman will sit out for the second consecutive day and will be missing his fifth consecutive practice overall while he continues to tend to the left foot injury that forced him out late in the Ravens' Week 4 loss to the Bills. He'll almost certainly need to get back on the field in some capacity Friday to have a legitimate shot at returning to action Sunday against the Giants. If Bateman can't go, the Ravens would be more likely to spread his vacated targets among their tight ends and running backs; Devin Duvernay was the only Baltimore wide receiver to draw more than two targets in last week's win over the Bengals.
Oct 12, 2022
Not practicing yet
Bateman (foot) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that he hoped to have Bateman back this Sunday against the Giants, but it isn't a great sign that the wideout still hasn't practiced since injuring his foot in a Week 4 loss to Buffalo. The Ravens relied on TE Mark Andrews and WR Devin Duvernay with Bateman out of the lineup for a 19-17 win over Cincinnati in Week 5, while WRs Demarcus Robinson, Tylan Wallace and James Proche all played more snaps than usual but didn't see many targets. Bateman has two more chances to practice before Sunday's road game against the Giants.
Oct 10, 2022
May return Week 6
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman (foot) "might be able to come back" Week 6 versus the Giants, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's ankle injury kept him from suiting up for Sunday night's win over the Bengals, but it looks like there's a chance his absence is limited to one game. The second-year pro's participation level on Wednesday's first practice report of the week will reveal more information about his health. It will be a positive sign if Bateman is able to practice on at least a limited basis to start the week.
Oct 7, 2022
Not playing in Week 5
Bateman (foot) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
During the Ravens' Week 4 loss to the Bills, Bateman remained on the sideline for a good portion of the second half due to a foot injury, and after failing to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, he'll miss his first game since Week 5 of last season. With the second-year pro unavailable Sunday, Baltimore will turn to Devin Duvernay, Demarcus Robinson, Tylan Wallace and James Proche at wide receiver, while tight end Mark Andrews likely can expect to have even more targets come his way. Meanwhile, Bateman's next chance to play will arrive Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Giants.
Oct 7, 2022
Not spotted at practice
Bateman (foot) wasn't spotted at practice Friday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
With Bateman also having missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, it doesn't seem especially likely that he'll be able to suit up Sunday night against the Bengals. Friday's upcoming injury report should help clarify Bateman's Week 5 status, but if he's unavailable this weekend, Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson would be in line to lead the Ravens' WR corps versus Cincinnati.
Oct 6, 2022
Missing from practice
Bateman (foot) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
With Bateman having now missed both of the Ravens' first two Week 5 practices, his status is firmly in question for Sunday's game against the Bengals. If Bateman isn't a full participant in Friday's practice session, he'll most likely carry a designation into the weekend, if the Ravens don't rule him out in advance. Devin Duvernay is the only other Ravens wideout that has drawn at least five targets in a game this season, so a potential Bateman absence in Week 5 could result in more field time for No. 2 tight end Isaiah Likely, who has played between 30 and 45 percent of the snaps through the first four games while occasionally sharing the field with top target Mark Andrews.
Oct 5, 2022
Misses practice with foot injury
Bateman (foot) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman had a rough Week 4, dropping three passes and finishing with only 17 yards before exiting with a foot injury in the fourth quarter of a 23-20 loss to the Bills. Coach John Harbaugh called Bateman day-to-day on Monday, but even if it's not a long-term issue there's the possibility of the wideout missing time. The Ravens don't have much behind him, with Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson getting most of the WR snaps that haven't gone to Bateman.
Oct 3, 2022
Nursing foot injury
Coach Jon Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman's fourth-quarter absence during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Bills was due to a foot injury, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh called Bateman day-to-day and downplayed the severity of his injury, per Shaffer, so it appears that the second-year pro still has a chance of suiting up Week 5 versus the Bengals. The foot injury provides some context to Bateman's three catches for 17 yards (6 targets), a season-low for him in terms of receiving yardage. Wednesday's first official injury report of the week will provide an update on Bateman's status.
Oct 2, 2022
Three grabs in loss
Bateman secured three of six targets for 17 yards in the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was one of the victims fantasy-wise of what was a lackluster showing through the air for Lamar Jackson. The second-year wideout's receiving yardage total was a season low, but he'll aim to play a much more prominent role in a Week 5 Sunday night AFC North showdown against the Bengals at home.
Sep 25, 2022
Two catches in win
Bateman brought in two of four targets for 59 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 37-26 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
After making noise with a pair of touchdowns in the first two weeks, Bateman matched his Week 1 line sans the score in the high-scoring Week 3 wins. The second-year wideout profiles as a significant component in the air attack in his role as the team's No. 1 receiver, and he's likely to only become more of a week-to-week factor as his first full season as a starter unfolds. Bateman will look to play an even more prominent role in what should be a wire-to-wire battle with the Bills at home in Week 4.
Sep 23, 2022
Slated to play Sunday
Coach John Harbaugh indicated that Bateman, who missed practice Friday for personal reasons, will play Sunday against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh also noted that Devin Duvernay (concussion) has been cleared to play in the contest, which sets the stage for the Ravens' Week 3 wideout corps to be led by Bateman, Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson. Through his first two games this season, Bateman has recorded a 6/167/2 stat line on 12 targets, with his steady involvement in Baltimore's passing attack giving the 2021 first-rounder weekly fantasy utility.
Sep 23, 2022
Not spotted at practice
Bateman (undisclosed) wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday, so his initial absence from the session makes his status worth tracking ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots. Added clarity on that front should arrive no later than the release of the Ravens' final Week 3 injury report later Friday.
Sep 18, 2022
Another long touchdown in loss
Bateman brought in four of seven targets for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 42-38 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman found the end zone for the second time in as many games to open the season when he got wide open for a 75-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter. He ultimately led Baltimore in receiving yardage on the afternoon, and he heads into a Week 3 road battle versus the Patriots with plenty of momentum.
Sep 11, 2022
Torches Jets for 55-yard TD
Bateman caught two of five targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
After watching Devin Duvernay score touchdowns of 25 and 17 yards, Bateman got behind the Jets secondary for a 55-yard touchdown in the third. Baltimore traded away Marquise Brown in the offseason and should consequently give both Duvernay and Bateman plenty of opportunities deep downfield. In Week 2, Bateman will take on shutdown cornerback Xavien Howard and the Dolphins.
Aug 27, 2022
Not slated to play Saturday
Bateman isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Commanders, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow WRs Devin Duvernay, James Proche, (undisclosed) and Tylan Wallace, with the Ravens' coaching staff using the team's exhibition finale to evaluate depth options ahead of roster cut-downs. Bateman's next game action will occur in Week 1 against the Jets, with the 2021 first-rounder poised to work as Baltimore's top wideout this coming season.
Aug 11, 2022
Not playing Thursday
Bateman was among the Ravens not in uniform for warmups ahead of Thursday's preseason opener against the Titans, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Devin Duvernay and James Proche, so the Ravens' projected top three wideouts are slated to sit this one out, which will allow the coaching staff to focus on evaluating the team's depth options at the wide receiver position during Baltimore's exhibition opener.
Aug 8, 2022
Back at practice
Bateman (undisclosed) has returned to practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman thus appears past the undisclosed minor injury that caused him to miss practice Friday. Now that he's back on the field with his teammates, the 2021 first-rounder is in line to step back in as the Ravens' presumed No. 1 wideout ahead of Week 1 action.
Aug 5, 2022
Misses practice Friday
Bateman, who is dealing with undisclosed minor injury, didn't practice Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, coach John Harbaugh downplayed Bateman's issue, noting that the wideout probably could have practiced Friday. It's possible the Bateman could miss Saturday's session as well as a precaution, so for now consider Baltimore's No. 1 wide receiver day-to-day.
Aug 1, 2022
All over the field at camp
Bateman is making a good impression at training camp and has cut down on the drops that plagued him during the offseason program, Kyle Barber of the Ravens' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that Bateman has been active at all levels of the field after largely seeing short-to-intermediate targets as a rookie. He'll likely see more deep looks -- and more targets overall -- now that Marquise Brown isn't with the Ravens, and it'll also help to have a healthy Lamar Jackson after Bateman spent much of his rookie year catching passes from weak-armed backups. The 2021 first-round pick is in good position to break out, with the Ravens clearly depending on him and TE Mark Andrews to pull most of the weight in the passing game.
Apr 29, 2022
Could see added opportunities
Following the trade of Marquise Brown to the Cardinals, Bateman currently heads a Baltimore wideout corps that also includes Devin Duvernay, James Proche and Tylan Wallace, ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that Brown had requested a trade and by dealing him to Arizona, the Ravens now have a need at wideout that they figure to address in Day 2 or 3 of the NFL Draft, via free agency, or both. As things stand, however, Bateman -- who Baltimore took 27th overall last year -- seems poised for an uptick in opportunity in 2022, following a rookie campaign in which he put together 46/515/1 stat line over the course of 12 contests.
Jan 14, 2022
Solid rookie season
Bateman finished the season with 46 catches for 515 yards and a touchdown on 68 targets in 12 games.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-rounder started the season on injured reserve due to a core-muscle injury that required surgery and didn't debut until Week 6 against the Chargers. From there, Bateman ranked third in target share (15.7 percent) on the team, behind only Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews. He had one 100-yard performance against Cleveland in Week 14 and caught his lone touchdown of the season two weeks later against Cincinnati. It's difficult to put a definitive grade on Bateman's rookie season due to the missed time coupled with Lamar Jackson's absence down the stretch. He had some promising peripheral metrics, such as a 67.6 percent catch rate and a yards per route run that ranked in the 71st percentile among receivers. With a healthy offseason and a full-strength Lamar Jackson behind center, Bateman is primed for a breakout in Year 2.
Jan 2, 2022
Draws 10 targets
Bateman caught seven passes for 58 yards on 10 targets against the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's 10 targets led the Ravens, ahead of Marquise Brown's eight targets. Neither wideout was able to get much going, though Bateman's box score outdid Brown's (three receptions for 28 yards). Quarterback Tyler Huntley can't strike downfield or the sidelines as well as Lamar Jackson (ankle), so in that sense Bateman and Brown were at a disadvantage to tight end Mark Andrews in the middle of the field. It's not clear whether Jackson might be able to play against the Steelers in Week 18.
Dec 26, 2021
Snares touchdown reception
Bateman caught four passes for 26 yards and one touchdown on five targets against Cincinnati on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie didn't have the easiest playing conditions with third-string quarterback Josh Johnson at the helm of the offense, but he managed to put together a respectable box score for his fantasy investors all the same. Now with his first pro touchdown logged, the promising rookie will look to build on his momentum against the Rams in Week 17.
Dec 20, 2021
Few targets despite high snap count
Bateman caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
This was a big dropoff for Bateman after he went for a career-high 103 yards in Week 14 against the Browns. Mark Andrews and Marquise Brown accounted for 27 of the team's 39 targets, which left very few opportunities for the Ravens' other pass-catchers. The silver lining is that Bateman logged a career-high in snaps and snap percentage at 93 percent, so even though the rookie didn't draw many targets, he was still a fixture in the offense overall. The Ravens play at Cincinnati in Week 16 and if Lamar Jackson (ankle) is back behind center, Bateman should have a clearer path to production.
Dec 12, 2021
Cracks century mark in loss
Bateman caught seven of eight targets for 103 yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Lamar Jackson (ankle) went down early in this contest, so backup Tyler Huntley took over and produced well from the pocket. The change of styles under center resulted in the first-round wideout's best game of the season. Perhaps this outing can kickstart the talented rookie's campaign -- regardless of who is under center against the Packers next Sunday -- as he produced just 301 yards on 25 receptions with no touchdowns in his previous seven contests.
Dec 7, 2021
Held without a catch
Bateman was held without a catch on one target Sunday against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman saw a healthy dose of snaps (42 percent) but was not heavily involved in the target rotation. Sunday marked his fewest targets in any game since debuting in Week 6 and his second week in a row with fewer than five targets. The Ravens' offense has struggled as a whole of late, failing to score more than 20 points in four straight games. Bateman figures to be more involved in Week 14 against Cleveland but that game is on the road against a team that gave the Baltimore offense problems in Week 12.
Nov 30, 2021
Modest production Sunday
Bateman caught all four of his targets for 31 yards against the Browns in Week 12.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore's offense was not in sync in Lamar Jackson's return and Bateman's production suffered as a result. He caught everything thrown his way and was effective on a per-target basis but Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews accounted for nearly two-thirds of the targets, which left very little to go around for the other Ravens pass-catchers. If Jackson bounces back Sunday against Pittsburgh, then Batemen should also be in line for a bounceback. It's worth noting, however, that Bateman's 45 percent snap share was his lowest mark since debuting in Week 6.

Catches three passes in win
Bateman caught three of six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Bateman played on 70 percent of the Ravens' offensive snaps with Marquise Brown (thigh) sidelined. The rookie wideout failed to capitalize on his increased playing time as the entire offense was underwhelming with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley starting in place of Lamar Jackson (illness). Bateman has yet to put up a true breakout performance in his first season, but the 21-year-old will have a chance to bounce back when the Ravens host the Browns in Week 12.
Nov 19, 2021
Cleared to play
Bateman (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation in advance of Sunday's game against the Bears after practicing fully Friday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to QB Lamar Jackson (illness), which sets the stage for the ascending rookie wideout to suit up this weekend against 3-6 Chicago. In the process, Bateman should continue to see his share of looks in the Baltimore passing offense after having logged eight targets in each of his last two games, resulting in 11 catches for 132 yards in that span .
Nov 19, 2021
Working at Friday's practice
Bateman (illness) is participating at Friday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was added to the injury report Thursday as a non-participant, but he's back on the field Friday for Baltimore. The quick return indicates the illness isn't a serious concern, and the rookie first-round pick appears on track to play Sunday at Chicago.
Nov 18, 2021
Sits out Thursday's practice
Bateman missed Thursday's practice due to an illness, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman practiced fully Wednesday, but the wideout's addition to the Ravens' injury report Thursday make his status for Sunday's game against the Bears worth tracking. Meanwhile, QB Lamar Jackson missed his second straight session due to a non COVID-related illness. Friday's looming status report will reveal whether Bateman and/or Jackson are in line to head into the weekend fully cleared to play or carrying a Week 11 designation.

Paces pass catchers in loss
Bateman secured six of eight targets for 80 yards in the Ravens' 22-10 loss to the Dolphins on Thursday night. He also recovered a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Bateman continued his quick ascent by co-leading the Ravens in receptions and pacing the club in receiving yardage as well. The rookie also alertly pounced on a Marquise Brown fumble to allow Baltimore to keep possession and continues to carve out a larger role by the week. Bateman now has eight targets in back-to-back contests and no fewer than six in any of his four games. A Week 11 road matchup against the Bears a week from Sunday will offer the opportunity for Bateman to up his catch total from that of the prior game for the third straight contest.
Nov 7, 2021
Five grabs in OT win
Bateman (groin) secured five of eight targets for 52 yards in the Ravens' 34-31 overtime win over the Vikings on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie shed his questionable tag to check in second on the afternoon in receptions and receiving yardage for the Ravens. Bateman's level of involvement over his first three pro games has been encouraging, as factoring in Sunday's eight looks, he's garnered 20 targets overall. Next up for the first-round pick and his Ravens teammates is a Thursday night Week 10 road matchup against the Dolphins.
Nov 7, 2021
Suits up Sunday
Bateman (groin) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Bateman missed the first five games of the season with a groin injury, but has combined for seven catches on 12 targets for 109 yards over his first two games as a pro. Though he didn't practice Friday, coach John Harbaugh indicated afterward that the 2021 first-rounder's latest groin issue was nothing serious and now he'll give it a go Sunday. With Sammy Watkins (thigh) still out, Bateman, Marquise Brown and Devin Duvernay are in line to head the Ravens' Week 9 WR corps, with James Proche, Miles Boykin and Tylan Wallace also on hand.
Nov 7, 2021
Expected to play Sunday
Bateman (groin), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was unable to practice Friday due to a groin issue, though coach John Harbaugh said the injury isn't serious. The rookie first-round pick missed the first five games of the season with a groin injury, and it's unclear if he's managing an aggravation of that issue of if he's dealing with an entirely new injury altogether.
Nov 5, 2021
Questionable for Sunday
Bateman (groin) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was unable to practice Friday due to the groin issue, though coach John Harbaugh said the injury isn't serious, and the wideout still has "a real good chance" to play Sunday. The rookie first-round pick missed the first five games of the season with a groin injury, and it's unclear if he's managing an aggravation of that issue of if he's dealing with an entirely new injury altogether.
Nov 5, 2021
Managing physical issue
Coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Bateman is dealing with an unspecified physical issue but should be able to play Sunday against the Vikings, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was absent from Friday's practice due to the issue, but it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. The 21-year-old has seven receptions for 109 yards in two games after spending the first five weeks of the season on injured reserve.
Nov 5, 2021
Not seen at practice Friday
Bateman (undisclosed) wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman hasn't been listed on the Ravens' injury report this week, so Friday's update should provide clarity with regard to the reason for the wideout's absence. The rookie wideout has played in Baltimore's past two games after coming off IR in advance of Week 6 action.
Oct 24, 2021
Productive in Week 7 loss
Bateman caught three of six targets for 80 yards in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Bateman tied Marquise Brown for the team lead in receiving yards, though Brown found the end zone and drew 14 targets to Bateman's six. Brown and tight end Mark Andrews remain the top two options in Baltimore's passing attack, but Bateman has established himself as the next man in the pecking order just two games into his NFL career. Baltimore's Week 8 bye will give the rookie first-round pick an opportunity to familiarize himself further with the offense.
Oct 17, 2021
Four catches in debut
Bateman (groin) caught four of six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 34-6 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Making his NFL debut after missing the first five weeks due to a groin injury, Bateman tied for the team lead in targets with tight end Mark Andrews, who caught five of his six targets for 68 yards and a touchdown. Baltimore's undoubtedly a run-first offense, as evidenced by the team's trio of rushing touchdowns in this one, but the rookie first-round pick could carve out a prominent role in a passing game that revolved around Andrews and deep threat Marqise Brown in Bateman's absence. He'll face the Bengals in Week 7.
Oct 17, 2021
Expected to start in NFL debut
Bateman (groin) is expected to serve as one of the Ravens' three starting receivers in Sunday's game against the Chargers, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off being reinstated from injured reserve a day earlier, Bateman, a rookie first-round selection, looks poised to make his NFL debut in a starting role alongside Marquise Brown and Devin Duvernay. One of Bateman and Duvernay will likely lose out on reps with the starters once Sammy Watkins (thigh) is deemed ready to play again.
Oct 16, 2021
Set to go Sunday
Bateman (groin) was activated off injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
It'll be interesting to see how much playing time Bateman receives with Sammy Watkins (hamstring) unavailable, though the emergence of Devin Duvernay and James Proche does give the team some flexibility. The 2021 first-round pick is a dynamic playmaker and could pair well with the mobility of Lamar Jackson, but fantasy managers likely should temper expectations at least initially until a better understanding of his usage is revealed.
Oct 15, 2021
Expected to debut Sunday
Coach John Harbaugh noted Friday that Bateman (groin)is expected to be activated off IR for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's looming return is well-timed, with fellow wideout Sammy Watkins (hamstring) having been ruled out for Sunday's contest. That said, in his anticipated NFL debut, the 2021 first-rounder is likely to eased into the mix, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun relays via offensive coordinator Greg Roman. With that in mind, Bateman profiles as a speculative Week 6 lineup option, but if the Minnesota product can quickly develop a strong on-field rapport with QB Lamar Jackson, he could emerge as a fantasy factor in the coming weeks.
Oct 14, 2021
Could play Sunday
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman indicated Thursday that there's a chance Bateman will be activated for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports. "He's looking good," Roman said of the rookie wideout, who's bouncing back from groin surgery.
ANALYSIS
In the event that Bateman does come off IR in advance of Sunday's contest, there could be a path to snaps for him, with Sammy Watkins dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for Wednesday's practice. That said, based on Roman's comments, the Ravens seem inclined to ease Bateman back into the mix, so he doesn't profile as a high-percentage Week 6 fantasy lineup option. However, with multiple teams on bye in the coming weeks, the 2021 first-rounder is worth a speculative add by fantasy managers with a degree of roster flexibility.
Oct 5, 2021
Could make debut Monday
Bateman (groin) may make his pro debut Monday against the Colts, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. "I think both those guys have a chance of playing this week," coach John Harbaugh said Monday of Bateman and Miles Boykin (hamstring).
ANALYSIS
Both recent Ravens draftees have yet to play this season, but of the two Bateman's return is the most anticipated for obvious reasons. The first-round rookie has been sidelined since injuring his groin Aug. 10, which forced him to have surgery that was accompanied by a 6-to-8-week recovery timetable. Bateman was placed on IR after roster cuts and was designated to return from IR last Wednesday, but ultimately he wasn't able to get enough practice reps last week to be cleared to play this past Sunday in Denver. Assuming he makes the requisite progress this week, he'll be activated ahead of Monday's game.
Oct 2, 2021
Still out Week 4
Bateman (groin) was not activated off injured reserve and therefore will not play Sunday against the Broncos, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman did travel with the team to Denver, but he's evidently not quite ready to make his professional debut. The Ravens also opted not to activate Miles Boykin (hamstring) off injured reserve meaning Sammy Watkins, Marquise Brown and Devin Duvernay will once again shoulder the majority of the pass-catching load.
Oct 2, 2021
Traveling with team
Bateman (groin) is traveling with the team ahead of Sunday's contest against the Broncos, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
ANALYSIS
This is certainly a good sign although the team technically has three weeks to officially activate the first-round pick from injured reserve. Bateman has reportedly looked good in practice to date, but the Ravens do have a relatively healthy group of pass catchers which might afford them a level of patience with the prized rookie.
Sep 30, 2021
Not on injury report
Bateman (groin) did not appear on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Bateman was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday and has turned in practices on back-to-back days with seemingly no issue. Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun notes that Bateman could debut as early as Sunday against Denver, but it's unclear whether that will be the case. When ready, Bateman projects to immediately challenge Devin Duvernay for snaps.
Sep 29, 2021
Cleared to practice
The Ravens designated Bateman (groin) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman has been sidelined since injuring his right groin in an Aug. 10 training camp practice and later undergoing surgery. Though head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman will take part in all three of the team's practices this week, the rookie first-round selection isn't a lock to be activated from IR and added to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos. The Ravens will likely wait and see how Bateman's groin responds to practice work before determining whether he's fit to play this weekend.
Sep 27, 2021
Will practice this week
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Bateman (groin) will practice this week, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman began the season on IR and would be eligible to return this week if he is healthy. The Ravens' receiving crops -- particularly Marquise Brown -- struggled mightily in Sunday's win over the Lions, so the rookie's activation could come at the perfect time for Baltimore. The first-round pick underwent surgery in the middle of August and was expected to miss around 6-to-8 weeks, which would put him back sometime between now and Week 6.
Sep 1, 2021
Placed on IR
Bateman, who underwent groin surgery last month, has been placed on IR by the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Miles Boykin (hamstring) meaning that the duo won't be eligible to return to action any sooner than Week 4. In the meantime, the team's wideout corps is currently comprised of Marquise Brown, Sammy Watkins, James Proche, Devin Duvernay and Tylan Wallace.
Aug 13, 2021
Recovery to last 6-to-8 weeks
Bateman has been given a 6-to-8-week recovery timetable following core-muscle surgery Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman limped off the practice field Tuesday, was diagnosed with a soft-tissue injury and initially was given a "week-to-week" prognosis. That all changed Thursday when he underwent the procedure. If the timeline to return is correct, Bateman seems to be a long shot to suit up Week 1 against the Saints, considering that game is four-and-a-half weeks in the future. More accurately, he may not see his first NFL action until late September or even October. The Ravens have a number of injured wide receivers at the moment, with Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin tending to hamstring issues. With the trio sidelined, Sammy Watkins, Devin Duvernay, Tylan Wallace and James Proche are the notable healthy members of the positional group.
Aug 12, 2021
Scheduled for surgery
Bateman will have surgery on his groin and won't be back until some point in September, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
John Harbaugh revealed Wednesday that the rookie would miss multiple weeks, but the Ravens coach didn't mention anything about surgery being a possibility until Thursday morning. The timing makes Bateman seem like a long shot for Week 1, but the Ravens apparently hope to have him back in September, so it's too soon to rule him out of games beyond the preseason. With Marquise Brown (hamstring) and Miles Boykin (hamstring) bothered by less serious injuries, Lamar Jackson is left with newcomer Sammy Watkins as his top wide receiver, flanked by a host of young players that includes 2020 third-round pick Devin Duvernay and 2021 fourth-rounder Tylan Wallace. If/when everyone is healthy, it'll likely be Brown, Watkins and Bateman as the top three.
Aug 11, 2021
Expected to miss multiple weeks
Coach John Harbaugh expects Bateman (groin) to miss "a number of weeks" following his early exit from Tuesday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh hinted at a week-to-week timeline, per NFL reporter Josina Anderson, saying "It's not going to be months, but it will be weeks." The initial reports leave Bateman uncertain for Baltimore's season opener Sept. 13 in Las Vegas, though he will have more than a month after the initial injury to recover. The rookie first-round pick figures to miss Baltimore's first two preseason games, if not all three (the final one is Aug. 28 at Washington).
Aug 10, 2021
Week-to-week with groin issue
Bateman suffered a groin injury at Tuesday's practice and is deemed week-to-week, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After Bateman fell to the ground on a slant route and limped to the sideline Tuesday, Garafolo reported that Bateman was expected to be out "a while but not a crazy length of time." Bateman's week-to-week prognosis seems to back that up and may also keep him off the field for the Ravens' preseason slate and potentially even the start of the regular season. On this latter point, Garafolo noted "it's too early to know" whether that'll come to pass, but Bateman now is slated to miss a key acclimation period to the pro ranks.
Aug 10, 2021
Diagnosed with soft-tissue injury
Bateman suffered a soft-tissue injury of unknown severity at Tuesday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
While running a slant route Tuesday, Bateman tumbled to the ground and walked to the sideline with a visible limp. Fortunately for the rookie first-rounder, he didn't suffer any structural damage, meaning a period of rest and rehab likely is in his future. The Ravens' receiving corps is pretty banged-up at the moment, with Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin also tending to hamstring issues.
Aug 10, 2021
Limps off Tuesday
Bateman limped off the field early at Tuesday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman pulled up while running a slant, fell to the ground, but was then able to walk off the practice field with a noticeable limp. Last week, the rookie first-round pick missed a bit of time due to muscle tightness. Fellow wideouts Marquise Brown and Myles Boykin are still nursing hamstring injuries, leaving Baltimore's receiving corps short handed.
Aug 3, 2021
Back at practice
Bateman returned to practice Tuesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick missed Monday's practice with muscle tightness in an undisclosed location. Now getting back on the field in short order, Bateman will get plenty of reps with the first-team offense while fellow wideouts Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin are on the sideline healing from hamstring injuries. Bateman, Sammy Watkins and Devin Duvernay are Baltimore's top WRs for the second week of training camp.
Aug 2, 2021
Banged up a little
Bateman is dealing with "muscle toughness" and was held out of Monday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like less of a concern than Marquise Brown's hamstring injury, with the rookie likely to make it back on the practice field before the veteran. In the meantime, Baltimore has Sammy Watkins, Miles Boykin and Devin Duvernay at wide receiver, though only Watkins appears locked in for a top-three role Week 1. Bateman is hoping to win one of those other spots, perhaps competing with Duvernay for slot work even.
Jun 21, 2021
Impresses during minicamp
Bateman impressed during mandatory minicamp and there's a belief that he will be a Day 1 contributor as a rookie, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The first-rounder reportedly did not look "like a rookie" during Baltimore's recent minicamp and has drawn praise from teammates and coaches alike. Bateman's path to immediate impact was in some question when he was selected by Baltimore given that the team already has Marquise Brown in one spot and signed Sammy Watkins during the offseason. However, it looks like Bateman is playing his way into a role. Bateman's development will be among the biggest storylines out of Ravens training camp next month.
Jun 16, 2021
Misses practice with stomach bug
Bateman did not take part in practice Tuesday due to a stomach illness, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman doesn't seem likely to miss a ton of time because of the bug, but he was unable to make the final mandatory minicamp session Wednesday because of it. The rookie will likely try to get in as much offseason work as possible to get acclimated to football's top level and it seems likely he'll get back at it in training camp next month.
Jun 2, 2021
Returns to practice, scores TD
Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick was removed from practice a week earlier with an undisclosed injury. It shouldn't have any impact on his bid to earn a key role, as Bateman quickly made it back on the practice field and even had a TD catch in red-zone drills Wednesday. With Marquise Brown seemingly locked in for one starting spot at wide receiver, Bateman's competition for playing time mostly comes from Sammy Watkins and Miles Boykin, though 2020 third-round pick Devin Duvernay and 2021 fourth-round selection Tylan Wallace could also get involved. It isn't the best setup for rookie-year production, but Baltimore does give Bateman a shot to eventually seize the No. 1 WR role, considering Hollywood looks more like a No. 2 receiver through two pro seasons.
May 26, 2021
Dealing with muscle soreness
Coach Jim Harbaugh indicated after Wednesday's practice that Bateman left due to muscle soreness, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Bateman left practice 40 minutes into the session but at least returned to the sideline later on. The fact that he's not dealing with an injury is a good sign, but it's something to not that he's had some minor issues before training camp has fired up. Still, there's nothing serious to note at this point.
May 12, 2021
Inks rookie contract
Bateman signed his four-year rookie contract with the Ravens on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bateman's four-year, $12.6 million rookie deal includes a $6.5 million signing bonus. Having selected him in the first round of April's draft, at No. 27 overall, the Ravens will have to make a decision about Bateman's fifth-year option come 2024. In the more immediate future, Bateman's draft capital and skill set should give him a near immediate starting opportunity alongside Marquise Brown and Sammy Watkins. The former Minnesota standout's ability to create separation off the line of scrimmage should translate well to the pro level, giving Lamar Jackson some much-needed help in the intermediate passing game, but the infamously scarce passing volume of Baltimore's offense may cap his fantasy upside as a rookie.
