Reverts to kick return duties
Davis didn't record a carry or target during Sunday's 39-34 win over the Bengals but returned four kickoffs for 84 yards.
ANALYSIS
Davis rushed for a season-high 62 yards on nine carries during the Bills' Week 13 win over the Steelers. However, he saw the field for 10 total snaps Sunday (four on offense, six on special teams), and the only time he touched the ball was on kickoffs as a returner. Ty Johnson, in contrast, played 16 snaps on offense and finished with two carries for 25 yards and two catches (on three targets) for 14 yards. Davis and Johnson both firmly worked behind James Cook out of the backfield, and that trend should continue in this Sunday's AFC East tilt against the Patriots.

Excels in change-of-pace role
Davis took nine carries for 62 yards without being targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Davis added 15 yards on his only kick return, failing to recreate the electricity from last week's return TD against the Texans. The 25-year-old backup instead stood out by outproducing his entire rushing yardage total from his 11 previous appearances in one contest. Davis had reached nine carries just twice prior to Week 13, with both occurrences coming in blowouts just like Sunday's. Fantasy managers can safely ignore Davis ahead of next Sunday's tilt against the Bengals.
Nov 21, 2025
No touches but gets kick return TD
Davis didn't record a carry or target in Thursday's 23-19 loss to the Texans but returned three kickoffs for 145 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Davis played just six snaps on offense compared to 36 for James Cook and 23 for Ty Johnson. Despite Davis' lack of involvement on that side of the ball, the second-year pro left his mark on Thursday's game with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown, which gave the Bills a 16-13 lead in the second quarter. Davis will have minimal fantasy appeal as long as both Cook and Johnson are ahead of him on the depth chart.
Nov 17, 2025
Impact limited to return game again
Davis played one of 56 offensive snaps during Buffalo's 44-32 win over the Buccaneers in Week 11. He also fielded four kick returns, tallying 158 yards on special teams.
ANALYSIS
Davis continues to contribute firmly behind both James Cook and Ty Johnson on offense. In the three games Davis has been tasked with handling kick-return duties he's managed to impress, including with a crucial 44-yard return logged versus Tampa Bay. He'll work to continue making the most of his opportunities on special teams versus the Texans on Thursday.
Nov 3, 2025
Handles kick-return duties Sunday
Davis played three of the Bills' 64 offensive snaps and tallied 105 kick-return yards in Sunday's 28-21 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
After playing just three offensive snaps during the Week 9 win, Davis appears firmly behind both James Cook and Ty Johnson in Buffalo's backfield. The Kentucky product handed kick-return duties for the first time this season during Sunday's win, logging 105 yards on four returns. Expect Davis to play a minor offensive role while contributing on special teams heading into the Week 10 matchup against the Dolphins.
Oct 31, 2025
Clear for Week 9
Davis (illness) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Davis didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness but capped Week 9 prep with back-to-back full sessions, paving the way for him to be available Sunday. His touch count has been hit or miss this season, with a pair of nine-carry outings and then seven combined touches in his five other appearances this season. James Cook has dominated the Bills backfield, while Ty Johnson has been more involved than Davis, leaving the latter on the outside looking in.
Oct 30, 2025
Full participant Thursday
Davis (illness) was listed as a full participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Davis practiced without limitations, indicating he has recovered from the illness that prevented him from practicing Wednesday. He has logged nine touches apiece in a pair of lopsided wins but hasn't exceeded two touches in any of Buffalo's other five games, so Davis isn't expected to play a significant role against the Chiefs on Sunday.
Oct 30, 2025
Returns to practice Thursday
Davis (illness) is back at practice Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis seems to have recovered after missing Wednesday's practice, though it remains to be seen if he has any limitations Thursday due to his illness. The backup running is likely to suit up Sunday against the Chiefs.
Oct 29, 2025
Dealing with illness
Davis (illness) won't practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis appears to have come down with an illness that's holding him out of Wednesday's practice. His participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide the best indication of whether he can suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs. If the second-year pro is inactive, expect Ty Johnson to handle all of Buffalo's reserve running back duties.
Oct 27, 2025
Inefficient Sunday
Davis rushed nine times for 16 yards and didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 40-9 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The second-year pro from Kentucky logged 15 offensive snaps Sunday after playing just 17 across the Bills' last four contests. However, he failed to capitalize on this increased workload, averaging just 1.8 yards per carry on nine touches. Davis appears to have fallen out of favor in Buffalo's backfield, playing behind both James Cook and Ty Johnson. He's likely to handle the team's No. 3 running back duties again in the Week 9 matchup against the Chiefs.
Oct 14, 2025
Catches TD in Monday's loss
Davis caught both of his targets for 19 yards and one touchdown in Monday's 24-14 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Davis played a total of two offensive snaps and was targeted by Josh Allen in the passing game on both of those plays. His 16-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half pulled the Bills within seven points, but Buffalo was unable to score the rest of the way. Despite finding paydirt for the first time all season, Davis continues to struggle to earn meaningful run behind starting running back James Cook. Davis has played single-digit snaps in four straight games, with passing-down specialist Ty Johnson receiving more playing time than Davis in all of those contests. Though Davis could be the preferred option over Johnson to lead the Bills' rushing attack if Cook were to miss time at any point, Davis will likely continue to handle a light role so long as Cook is healthy.
Oct 6, 2025
Quiet again in Week 5
Davis rushed twice for one yard in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The second-year pro from Kentucky has now rushed 13 times for 30 yards over the Bills' first five games this season, playing 38 offensive snaps. In Sunday night's loss, Ty Johnson logged more offensive snaps than Davis (12 to six) for the third consecutive game, suggesting that he's taken over as Buffalo's No. 2 running back. Davis is likely to play a limited role in the Bills' offense again in the Week 6 matchup against the Falcons.
Sep 29, 2025
Minimal work again in Week 4
Davis rushed once for three yards in Sunday's 31-19 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The 2024 fourth-round pick from Kentucky has now logged just nine offensive snaps and received one touch over the Bills' last two games, suggesting he's now playing behind both James Cook and Ty Johnson. Davis has rushed 11 times for 29 yards through four games this season, and he'll likely play another reserve role in Buffalo's backfield in the Week 5 matchup against the Patriots.
Sep 19, 2025
Doesn't touch ball against Miami
Davis failed to record a touch on offense in Buffalo's 31-21 win over the Dolphins on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
After rushing nine times for 24 yards on 20 offensive snaps in the Bills' Week 2 win over the Jets, Davis logged just four snaps on offense against Miami. Davis is merely a bench stash in fantasy in the event James Cook ever goes down with an injury.
Sep 17, 2025
Handles nine carries against Jets
Davis rushed nine times for 24 yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Davis saw an uptick in usage in Week 2 after playing just 10 snaps and rushing the ball once in Week 1. Despite his increased opportunities, the second-year running back was unable to get much going in the contest. Meanwhile, starter James Cook had an excellent day, finishing the game with 21 rushes for 132 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. As long as Cook is healthy, Davis should not be considered for fantasy purposes beyond an insurance policy. The 25-year-old will have his next chance to improve upon his slow start in Week 3, however, when the Bills host the Dolphins.
Sep 10, 2025
Limited role in season opener
Davis rushed once for two yards and reeled in his lone target for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 41-40 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Davis played just 10 of the Bills' 85 offensive snaps Sunday, behind starter James Cook (48) and Ty Johnson (28). With so many playmakers in Buffalo, the second-year running back should continue to struggle to earn meaningful touches out of the backfield barring an injury to Cook. With that said, Davis remains a high-value insurance policy for fantasy purposes. The 25-year-old will have his next opportunity to get involved when the Bills visit the Jets in Week 2.
Aug 18, 2025
Quiet in second preseason game
Davis was held to five yards on three carries with no receptions (one target) in Sunday's 38-0 preseason loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Davis got another start with James Cook mired in a contract dispute, but the results didn't inspire hope for a potential starting role. In the backup running back's defense, the offense was operating without QB Josh Allen and several key starters. Davis should continue leading Buffalo's backfield in its final preseason tilt against the Buccaneers on Saturday while we wait for Cook's contract situation to be settled.
Aug 9, 2025
Shows off versatility Saturday
Davis carried the ball four times for seven yards, caught one of two targets for seven yards and kicked an extra point in Saturday's 34-25 preseason loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
James Cook was in uniform but didn't play as he continues his hold-in to try and get a contract extension, putting Davis in the backfield as the starting running back. He played most of the first half, giving way to Ty Johnson for one possession, but the highlight of Davis' afternoon was a wounded duck of a PAT after a Dawson Knox touchdown in the second quarter, as he auditioned to be Buffalo's emergency kicker while Tyler Bass (pelvis) is sidelined. Caden Davis would handle regular placekicking duties should Bass not be ready for Week 1, but Davis the RB could have his plate full on offense anyway if Cook's contract dispute lingers into the regular season, or if he isn't fully up to speed. The second-year back may be ready for bigger volume -- in the one game Cook missed in 2024, Davis erupted for 97 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards during a Week 6 win over the Jets.
Aug 5, 2025
Filling in for Cook
Davis and Ty Johnson are getting more first-team reps while James Cook (contract) misses practice, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Cook skipped some voluntary offseason sessions, but he was present for mandatory activities and then practiced at training camp up until Sunday, when he watched from the sideline without pads and told reports his absence was on account of "business." The most likely outcome is Cook signing an extension at some point before Week 1 and getting back out on the field, but there's always at least a slight aspect of added risk when dealing with a holdout (or in this case, a "hold in"). Davis and Johnson both played well when called upon last year, combining for 1,128 total yards and 10 touchdowns on 189 touches while Cook went for 1,267 yards and 18 TDs on 239 touches. Davis was the lead runner in the one game Cook missed, taking 20 carries for 97 yards (and three catches for 55 yards) in a Week 6 win over the Jets.
May 30, 2025
Taking advantage of Cook's absence
Davis took first-team running back reps at Thursday's voluntary team activities with James Cook absent, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis figures to be the primary beneficiary of increased first-team reps as long as Cook's desire for a contract extension keeps him away from the team, though Ty Johnson may also get some work. Cook led Buffalo's impressive rushing attack last season with 207 carries for 1,009 yards and a shocking 16 touchdowns (after scoring just twice on the ground in the two years prior), while Davis took a backseat with 113 carries for 442 yards and three scores. At 220 pounds, Davis boasts a significantly larger frame than Cook or Johnson, which resulted in his facing more stacked boxes and suffering in terms of efficiency compared to his backfield mates, but also makes it conceivable that more of the Bills' scoring opportunities on the ground could swing his way Year 2.
Jan 27, 2025
Takes backseat in loss to Chiefs
Davis carried the ball twice for four yards during Sunday's 32-29 loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Davis was less involved out of the backfield than both James Cook (13-85-2) and Ty Johnson (6-19-0), concluding the playoffs with just seven carries for 36 yards and one score across three postseason appearances. In the regular season, the rookie fourth-round pick suited up for all 17 games, rushing 113 times for 442 yards (3.9 YPC) with two touchdowns. He also had 17 catches for 189 yards and another three scores on 19 targets. Johnson is now set to hit free agency, while Cook is entering the final year of his rookie deal, so Davis could have a chance to carve out an expanded backfield role Year 2.
Jan 19, 2025
Active versus Baltimore
Davis (concussion) is listed as active for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Davis, who sustained a concussion during last Sunday's 31-7 wild-card win over the Broncos, was deemed limited at practice this past week before approaching the contest listed as questionable. With his availability versus Baltimore confirmed, Davis is slated to work in a supporting role behind Buffalo's top back James Cook (who logged 23 carries versus Denver), with Ty Johnson also available to mix in.
Jan 17, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Davis (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Davis sustained a concussion during this past Sunday's wild-card win versus the Broncos, containing him to a limited walkthrough Wednesday and back-to-back capped sessions to wrap up the week. He must gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to make himself available this weekend, as coach Sean McDermott told Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News earlier Friday that the running back remains in the protocol for head injuries.
Jan 17, 2025
Remains in concussion protocol
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Davis is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis was forced out of Buffalo's wild-card win over the Broncos in the second half, and though he's since managed to practice in a limited capacity during ttwo walkthrough practices, his status remains uncertain for Sunday's divisional-round game against Baltimore. The rookie fourth-round pick will need to gain full medical clearance, including from an independent neurologist, in order to be allowed to suit up versus the Ravens. Friday's official practice report will likely label Davis 'questionable' to play Sunday.
Jan 16, 2025
Remains limited Thursday
Davis (concussion) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Davis suffered a concussion in the second half of this past Sunday's wild-card win against the Broncos. Since then, he logged a limited walkthrough Wednesday and maintained that activity level one day later, albeit while donning a red non-contact jersey, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com. In the end, Davis will be subject to an examination from an independent neurologist in order to have a chance to play Sunday versus the Ravens.
Jan 15, 2025
Puts in limited practice
Davis (concussion) was a limited participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice.
ANALYSIS
Though Davis remains in the five-step concussion protocol, he's apparently made enough progress since suffering the head injury in Sunday's 31-7 win over the Broncos in the wild-card round to take part in non-contact portions of practice. He'll likely need to be cleared for contact by Friday's practice in addition to receiving clearance from an independent neurologist before being removed from the protocol. If Davis isn't available for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Ravens, Ty Johnson and practice-squad member Frank Gore (if elevated) would be the available depth options behind lead back James Cook.
Jan 15, 2025
Still in concussion protocol
Head coach Sean McDermott noted Wednesday that Davis remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A concussion forced Davis out of this past Sunday's AFC wild-card win over the Broncos, and the running back has yet to progress through the protocol since then. If Davis is unable to gain clearance ahead of this Sunday's divisional-round contest against the Ravens, Ty Johnson would be in line to see added snaps behind top back James Cook, with Frank Gore a candidate to be elevated from Buffalo's practice squad.
Jan 12, 2025
Enters concussion protocol
Davis has been diagnosed with a concussion and is ruled out for the rest of Sunday's AFC wild-card game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Davis was hit in the head by Brandon Jones while attempting to haul in a pass from Josh Allen in the third quarter, which resulted in an unnecessary roughness penalty on Jones. Davis was down on the field for an extended period of time, but he did manage to walk to the sidelines before being taken to the locker room. Ty Johnson will serve as the Bills' backup running back behind James Cook for the rest of Sunday's game due to Davis' injury. If Buffalo wins Sunday, Davis would have to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to play in the divisional round.
Jan 12, 2025
Exits Sunday's game
Davis is being evaluated for a head injury duringSunday's wild-card round game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Davis carried once for three yards. In his absence, James Cook and Ty Johnson are left to handle Buffalo's backfield duties versus Denver.
Jan 5, 2025
Takes advantage of bigger workload
Davis carried the ball 15 times for 64 yards and caught two of three targets for one yard and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
With the Bills resting most of their key personnel, in whole or in part, Davis wound up seeing the larger portion of a backfield timeshare with James Cook and turned the extra touches into solid production, which included a two-yard TD from Mitchell Trubisky in the second quarter. Davis has had a respectable rookie campaign, amassing 631 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns (three rushing, three receiving) over 17 regular-season games, but he should take a back seat to Cook once again when Buffalo begins its playoff run next weekend at home against Denver.
Dec 31, 2024
Records 13 total yards
Davis rushed six times for nine yards and caught his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 40-14 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Davis played just 16 of the Bills 70 offensive snaps in Sunday's contest, finishing behind fellow running backs James Cook and Ty Johnson in playing time. Unfortunately for the rookie, he was unable to produce noteworthy fantasy numbers with his seven touches. With Buffalo clinching the No. 2 seed, however, it's possible that Davis could see a major uptick in usage in Week 18 if the Bills decide to rest their starters. This would give the Kentucky product a chance to see an expanded role in place of Cook, but he would likely split work with Johnson in this scenario. Up next for the Bills is a Week 18 matchup with the Patriots.
Dec 25, 2024
Five carries in Week 16
Davis rushed five times for 12 yards and caught his lone target for 17 yards in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Davis was on the field for just 14 of the Bills' 59 offensive snaps, the fewest of any Buffalo running back behind Ty Johnson (23) and James Cook (21). Barring an injury to either Cook or Johnson, Davis will continue to be an unreliable fantasy option going forward. The Bills will host the Jets in Week 17.
Dec 18, 2024
Finds end zone against Detroit
Davis rushed seven times for 15 yards and caught both of his targets for 14 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 48-42 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Davis scored his second receiving touchdown of the 2024 campaign in Week 15, bringing him to five total touchdowns so far this season. The rookie running back played just 18 of the Bills 70 offensive snaps, but he was able to make the most of his limited opportunities in the contest. Going forward, Davis is likely to continue to share playing time with Ty Johnson behind starter James Cook. For that reason, Davis remains an unreliable fantasy option barring an injury to Cook. The Bills host the Patriots in Week 16.
Dec 10, 2024
Non-factor in loss
Davis failed to record a single rush or target in Sunday's 44-42 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Davis was not involved in the Bills' offensive attack Sunday, failing to record a single rush for just the second time all season. The rookie running back played just 13 of the Bills' 60 offensive snaps in the contest, behind both James Cook (27) and Ty Johnson (21). Despite the abysmal performance, Davis remains a valuable insurance policy in the event that Cook was to miss time down the stretch. The 25-year-old Kentucky product will look to bounce back in Week 15 when the Bills visit the Lions.
Dec 1, 2024
Scores in lopsided win
Davis rushed 11 times for 63 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for four yards in Sunday's 35-10 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Davis was involved early, scoring a five-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, but most of his yardage came later in the game after the result was no longer in doubt. James Cook (14 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown) paced Buffalo's backfield as usual, but Davis benefited from a run-heavy game plan in snowy conditions. Davis will continue to work as the team's No. 2 running back behind Cook in Week 14 against the Rams.
Nov 19, 2024
Five carries in Week 11
Davis rushed five times for 11 yards in Sunday's 30-21 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Davis was minimally involved in the Bills game plan against the Chiefs, as the rookie running back continued to operate in a limited role. The 25-year-old played just 15 of the Bills' 73 offensive snaps, the fewest of any Buffalo running back behind Ty Johnson (33) and James Cook (27). Davis remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes while Cook is healthy. The Bills head into a Week 12 bye before hosting the 49ers on Dec. 1.
Nov 13, 2024
Handles three carries in win
Davis rushed three times for six yards in Sunday's 30-20 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Davis was minimally involved in Sunday's contest, as the rookie running back was on the field for just 11 of the Bills' 74 offensive snaps while starter James Cook played 41 snaps. As long as the latter remains healthy, the 25-year-old Davis should continue to see limited usage out of Buffalo's backfield. Davis is best viewed as solid insurance policy behind Cook going forward. The Bills will host the Chiefs in Week 11.
Nov 3, 2024
Gets free for 63-yard receiving TD
Davis rushed four times for 20 yards while catching both of his targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Most of Davis' production came on a 63-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. He finished third among Bills running backs in rushing yards behind James Cook (10 carries for 44 yards) and Ty Johnson (three carries for 23 yards). Cook will likely continue to lead Buffalo's backfield in touches as long as he's healthy, so while Davis has flashed promising skills as both a rusher and a pass catcher, the rookie fourth-round pick's short-term fantasy value is capped by a lack of opportunities.
Oct 28, 2024
Minimal role in easy win
Davis had six carries for 29 yards and was not targeted in the passing game during Sunday's 31-10 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
After two weeks of big production -- which probably came at a cheap value in the fantasy world -- the fourth-round rookie took a clear back seat in Week 8 while starter James Cook ran wild over the Seattle defense for 133 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. Davis did see action on 22 percent of the offensive snaps for the second straight week, but no matter how well Davis has been performing, this is a good reminder that this is not a timeshare in Buffalo. At the very least, Davis has used October to put himself clearly ahead of Ty Johnson (no carries in Week 7 or Week 8) as the No. 2 option in the Buffalo backfield.
Oct 22, 2024
Finds end zone in win
Davis rushed five times for 41 yards and a touchdown while catching his lone target for six yards in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Davis' touchdown came with just under two minutes left in the contest when the game was already out of hand. The rookie running back has now hit pay dirt twice this season while rushing for 213 yards on 51 carries so far in 2024. Teammate James Cook made his return in Week 7 after missing the previous week with a toe injury, and in doing so, reclaimed his role as the Bills' top option out of the backfield. Though Davis could see his role increase in Buffalo's offense as the season goes on, he holds the most value as an insurance policy if Cook is forced to miss time again. Davis and the Bills will visit the Seahawks in Week 8.
Oct 20, 2024
Active versus Titans
Davis (calf) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
After being added to the Bills' injury report Thursday, when he was limited due to a calf injury, Davis remained limited Friday before being deemed questionable for the contest, while fellow running back James Cook (toe) didn't carry a Week 7 injury designation. With his availability versus Tennessee confirmed, Davis (who carried 20 times for 97 yards and caught all three of his targets for 55 yards while filling in for an injured Cook versus the Jets this past Monday) is in line to move back into a complementary behind Cook in a Buffalo backfield that also includes Ty Johnson. However, the rookie fourth-rounder's respectable showing in Week 6 could result in added opportunities going forward, provided his calf issue doesn't limit him.
Oct 18, 2024
Status in question for Sunday
Davis (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Titans, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis didn't make an appearance on the Bills' Week 7 practice report until Thursday, when he was limited due to a calf injury. He maintained that activity level Friday, and his ensuing designation leaves his status up in the air for Sunday. Coach Sean McDermott intimated as much earlier Friday, telling WGR 550 Buffalo that he wasn't sure if the rookie fourth-round pick will be available this weekend. Meanwhile, James Cook (toe) practiced fully Thursday and Friday and has been cleared to return, so he likely will assume No. 1 status out of the Bills backfield, even if Davis is active.
Oct 18, 2024
Status uncertain for Week 7
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Davis (calf) will be limited in practice but that Buffalo is uncertain about his availability for Sunday's game against the Titans, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis sounds like a possible game-time decision for Sunday's home game, while James Cook resumed practicing as a full participant Thursday and appears set to reclaim his lead role versus Tennessee. Coming off a performance against the Jets in which he posted 152 yards from scrimmage, Davis could have the momentum to push for a larger backfield role, his health pending. Davis seems destined to carry a 'questionable' designation into the weekend, but final clarity on his status will arrive at least 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 17, 2024
Added to injury report
Davis (calf) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
While Davis was added to the Bills' Week 7 injury report Thursday, James Cook (toe) -- who was inactive for Monday's 23-20 win over the Jets -- returned to a full practice. With Cook poised to reclaim his lead role in Buffalo's backfield Sunday against the Titans, Davis -- if available -- is on track to work in a complementary role this weekend after rushing 20 times for 97 yards and catching all three of his targets for 55 yards while filling in for Cook versus New York.
Oct 14, 2024
Huge game on MNF
Davis rushed 20 times for 97 yards and caught all three of his targets for 55 yards in Monday's 23-20 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Davis emerged as the Bills' top running back sans starter James Cook (toe) in Monday's narrow victory. The 24-year-old Davis wound up out-touching fellow backup Ty Johnson by 19 combined looks in absence of Buffalo's starter. Davis would make sense as the hot waiver add for fantasy managers, but Cook's toe injury requires monitoring for activation prior to a home matchup against the Titans in Week 7.
Oct 9, 2024
Minimal usage in loss
Davis caught one of his two targets for four yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Davis was barely involved in Sunday's contest, playing just two of the Bills' 61 offensive snaps. The rookie running back failed to see a single carry for the first time this season. Davis' minimal involvement make him nothing more than a handcuff to James Cook going forward. The 24-year-old will hope to be expand his usage in Week 6 when the Bills visit the Jets.
Oct 2, 2024
Handles seven carries in Week 4
Davis rushed seven times for 11 yards in Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Davis played just 10 of the Bills' 59 offensive snaps in the contest, behind both James Cook (33) and Ty Johnson (11). In addition, Sunday's game marked the first time in which Davis didn't record a reception. Though the rookie is the clear handcuff to James Cook, the Kentucky product holds little standalone value for fantasy. Davis will look to get more involved in Week 5 when the Bills visit the Texans.
Sep 24, 2024
Scores in MNF laugher
Davis carried seven times for 22 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for one yard in Monday's 47-10 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-round rookie scored his first NFL touchdown in the lopsided win. Davis continues to share the backup duties to star running back James Cook with veteran Ty Johnson, so it'll be interesting to see if one of the two works his way into more of a true No. 2 role as the season progresses, a job that would offer huge upside if anything ever happened to Cook. If Davis does offer one skill that's better than his teammates, it's the potential for short-yardage work. He scored on a nice three-yard effort to cap the scoring Monday and has a bowling ball of a frame at 5-foot-9 and 220 pounds.
Sep 13, 2024
Gets nine carries in win
Davis rushed nine times for 29 yards and brought in his only target for minus-1 yard in the Bills' 31-10 win over the Dolphins on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Davis finished with just two fewer carries than top back James Cook, although game script did have a modest part to play in that. However, it's worth noting Davis logged his first three carries on Buffalo's fourth possession in the second quarter, which already matched the total he'd received in all of the Week 1 win over the Cardinals. Davis is already trusted enough to serve as Cook's primary backup, and he could once again a solid complementary role in a Week 3 home matchup against the Jaguars on Monday night, Sept. 23.

Handles three carries in Week 1
Davis carried three times for 13 yards and caught his lone target for 14 yards in Sunday's 34-28 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Davis played just six of the Bills' 62 offensive snaps in his regular season debut. Meanwhile, starter James Cook was on the field for 38 snaps with Ty Johnson involved on 14 snaps in the contest. The rookie running back was minimally involved in his first action, yet his development over the course of the season should afford him more opportunities in the offense. At 5-foot-8, 220 pounds, Davis profiles as a strong short-yardage option in Buffalo's backfield. The Kentucky product will look to get more involved in a Week 2 matchup with the division-rival Dolphins.

Several chunk gains
Davis rushed the ball eight times for 58 yards in Saturday's 9-3 preseason win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Davis didn't manage any snaps with the first-team offense, but he was the next running back into the game following James Cook. After struggling to find rushing lanes in his pro debut against the Bears last week, Davis recorded a long gain of 19 yards supplemented by a pair of eight-yard rushes in his second chance. Davis is competing with Ty Johnson for the primary backup spot in the offense, though the two could coexist as Davis has a frame that should help him excel in short-yardage situations while Johnson is a strong pass catcher.

Receiving salvages tough sledding
Davis carried five times for just two yards and caught three of four targets for 19 yards during Saturday's preseason loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
No one had much luck for the Bills running the ball, as the team averaged just 3.0 yards per carry over 26 team rushes. At least the coaches have to be happy with Davis' ability to snag some passes for decent yardage out of the backfield. The rookie fourth-rounder out of Kentucky is currently battling veteran Ty Johnson for the No. 2 running back role behind James Cook. Johnson returned to practice from a hamstring injury Monday, so expect each of the two players to see meaningful carries during the team's last two preseason games, at which point the depth chart should become more clear. Darrynton Evans and undrafted rookie Frank Gore are also both in the mix.

Second RB into preseason opener
Davis rushed five times for two yards and caught three of four targets for 19 yards in Saturday's 33-6 preseason loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Davis was the second running back in the game for Buffalo after James Cook got the start. Cook and Josh Allen subbed out at the end of the first quarter, but the rest of the starters remained in the game as Davis and Mitch Trubisky checked in. Davis didn't find much running room but showcased some nice pass catching ability. The rookie fourth-round pick out of Kentucky is competing with Ty Johnson (hamstring) for the backup role behind Cook. Johnson didn't suit up against the Bears but could be ready to return for next Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers.

Competing with Ty Johnson
Davis and Ty Johnson shared first-team reps Sunday when James Cook was absent from practice for personal reasons, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Buscaglia described it as a "pretty close to even split... with Johnson having the slight edge over Davis". It doesn't sound like either RB made the most of his opportunity; Johnson dropped a would-be TD, and Davis lost a fumble. In any case, Cook returned to practice Monday, with Johnson then exiting early due to an apparent lower-body injury. The main takeaway for now is that Davis and Johnson are competing for the second spot on the depth chart, although it's possible they could have unique/different backup roles given that the rookie is more of a power runner and the veteran more of a speed/receiving threat. The Bills drafted Davis in the fourth round this spring, 128th overall, following a prolific college career in which he ran for more than 1,000 yards for three different programs (and played 13-to-16 games at each school).
