Lands in New Orleans
The Saints signed Bell to the practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bell spent the offseason with the Lions and signed with the team's practice squad after failing to make the team out of training camp. He'll provide organizational depth at wide receiver in New Orleans. Bell has eight career catches for 90 yards and three touchdowns across 26 regular-season appearances.

Cut from practice squad
The Lions cut Bell from the practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The move makes room on the Lions' practice squad for linebacker Ty Summers. Bell joined Detroit's practice squad in late August after failing to make the team's 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He last saw regular-season action in 2024 with the 49ers, when he logged two catches (on six targets) for 22 yards while adding 23 yards on kick returns.

Finds home on practice squad
Bell signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bell cleared waivers after a lackluster preseason where he caught five of six targets for 62 yards over three games. The 2023 seventh-round pick will continue to refine his craft while he awaits his next chance in the league.
Aug 26, 2025
Heads to waivers
The Lions waived Bell on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
A 2023 seventh-round pick, Bell spent his first two seasons with the 49ers and caught eight passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns while also mixing in on kick and punt returns. His special-teams ability gives him a good chance to stick around on the practice squad.
Aug 11, 2025
Two catches in win
Bell caught both of his targets for 26 yards in Friday's 17-10 preseason win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Bell is jockeying for a spot on the Lions' 53-man roster ahead of the 2025 campaign, and he made the most of limited opportunities against Atlanta. The wide receiver is fighting an uphill battle to crack the Week 1 roster, so he'll look to stand out a bit more in Detroit's matchup with the Dolphins on Saturday.

Headed to Detroit
The Lions signed Bell to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bell played in nine of the 49ers' first 11 games of the 2024 regular season, logging two catches (on six targets) for 22 yards in the process. He was waived by San Francisco on Nov. 30, and while he was signed to the Niners' practice squad three days later, he was not elevated to the active roster for the rest of the campaign. The 2023 seventh-round pick will be on the Lions' 90-man roster at the start of the new league year, and he'll use the offseason to work with the coaching staff to give himself the best shot at earning a spot on Detroit's 53-man roster for the 2025 season.

Let go by San Francisco
The 49ers cut Bell from the practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
The 2023 seventh-round pick earned a spot on the 49ers' 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August. He appeared in nine of of the first 11 games of the regular season and accumulated two catches (on six targets) for 22 yards over that span. He was waived by San Francisco on Nov. 30, and while he was brought back to the 49ers' practice squad three days later, he wasn't elevated to the active roster for the remainder of the regular season. Bell will explore his next options and could look to catch on with a team on a reserve/future contract, which would allow him to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp with that team.

Back with San Francisco
The 49ers signed Bell to the practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bell appeared in nine of the 49ers' 11 regular-season games before being waived from the 53-man roster Nov. 30. The 2023 seventh-round pick will remain in San Francisco on the practice squad and will be available for elevation to the active roster should the Niners need depth at wide receiver.

Let go by San Francisco
The 49ers waived Bell on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Assuming he clears waivers, Bell will explore his next options after being waived by the 49ers, who drafted him in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 253rd overall. In his tenure with the Niners, Bell registered eight catches (on 19 targets) for 90 yards and three touchdowns over 26 regular-season games.

Healthy scratch for Week 11
Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Lindsey Peters of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the second time this season that Bell has been a healthy inactive, with the first instance taking place Week 4 against the Patriots. Jacob Cowing and Isaac Guerendo are expected to serve as the primary returners on kickoffs and punts for the 49ers on Sunday.

Sees extra reps Sunday
Bell played 24 of the 49ers' 63 snaps on offense and finished with one reception for 10 yards on two targets in Sunday's 28-18 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
With Jauan Jennings (hip) inactive and with Deebo Samuel (illness) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) playing just four and 25 snaps, respectively, before exiting the contest, extra opportunities became available for Bell and the 49ers' other depth wideouts. Aiyuk has since been ruled out for the season, while the statuses of Samuel and Jennings for Sunday's game against the Cowboys are up in the air. As a result, Bell could be in store for at least one more contest with an expanded role, after he had played just 10 total snaps on offense across San Francisco's previous three contests. In addition to Bell, rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing and veteran Chris Conley -- who is considered day-to-day with an ankle sprain -- currently represent the 49ers' healthiest receivers.

Healthy inactive for Week 4
Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Deebo Samuel (calf) and George Kittle (hamstring) back in action, Bell is the odd man out. Bell played a season-high 27 offensive snaps versus the Rams in Week 3 and caught his first pass of the campaign for 12 yards.
Sep 10, 2024
No receptions in Week 1 win
Bell logged 13 snaps on offense (18 percent) Monday but did not log a reception in a 32-19 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Bell made San Francisco's opening roster as expected after a strong rookie campaign as a backup in 2023. The sophomore wideout didn't record a reception in the win, but he saw the field for 13 snaps on offense in the win. The Michigan product did not get an opportunity to return a kickoff while rookie Jacob Cowing handled punt return duties. Bell doesn't move the fantasy needle heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Vikings in his current role.

Scores thrice as rookie
Bell finished with six receptions (13 targets) for 68 yards and three touchdowns while appearing in 17 games for San Francisco in 2023.
ANALYSIS
Bell product wasn't projected to make the 53-man roster after being selected by a team loaded at receiver, but a strong camp earned him a reserve role out of the gates. The Michigan product didn't get a ton of run with just six catches in 17 games, but he had a nose for the end zone with half of those receptions hitting pay dirt. Bell also helped fill in for an injured Ray-Ray McCloud as the 49ers' punt returner over the team's final five games. With the latter's contract expiring this offseason, Bell could find himself taking over return duties while being mixed in on offense in 2024.

Won't play in NFC Championship
Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Lions, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bell will sit out for the second straight game after not suiting up for the Niners' divisional-round win over the Packers. His last appearance was Week 18 against the Rams when he played 44 snaps -- 37 on offense and seven on special teams -- and caught one pass on five targets for a five-yard touchdown.
Jan 1, 2024
Logs 10 snaps in win
Bell failed to bring in his only target in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Bell also returned two punts for 17 yards on special teams for a total of 16 snaps (10 on offense) Sunday. The rookie wideout appeared to split slot duties with veteran Chris Conley with Jauan Jennings (concussion) still sidelined to injury. Conley finished with more snaps on offense (22), but Bell was the only reserve wideout to receive a target against Washington. Both backups would see a bump in playing time should the confirmed No. 1 seed 49ers decide to rest either of its top two star receivers against the Rams.
Dec 26, 2023
Scores TD in garbage time
Bell caught his only target for a 12-yard touchdown in Monday's 33-19 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Bell saw his role elevated slightly with the 49ers missing a few role players in the primetime loss to the Ravens. The seventh-round selection wound up playing seven total snaps Monday, four of which came on special teams and the last three coming on offense when the game was well out of hand. Bell made the most of his limited opportunities by grabbing his second touchdown of the season. The rookie's first score came back in Week 3, and he has seen just four total targets in 11 active games between making trips to the end zone. Given his sporadic usage and the nature of Monday's score, Bell should not be considered as a fantasy option for Week 17 when the 49ers visit the Commanders on Dec. 31.
Dec 6, 2023
Role on offense declining
Bell played seven of the 49ers' 59 snaps on offense and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 42-19 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Since recording two catches for 24 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 win over the Giants, Bell has seen his playing time and role in the passing game steadily taper off. He's received double-digit snaps in just two of his last nine appearances and has just two receptions for 27 yards on three targets during that stretch.
Oct 10, 2023
No catches Sunday
Bell failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 42-10 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Jauan Jennings (shin) returned from his one-game absence Sunday to bring the 49ers' receiver room back to full strength, effectively pushing Bell back into a reserve role against the Cowboys. The majority of Bell's 14 offensive snaps came in garbage time of the blowout victory. The rookie's lone target came much earlier in the game when he dropped a catchable ball from Brock Purdy that would have dug the offense out of a second and long hole. Bell made up for his gaff on special teams two plays later by fielding Mitch Wishnowsky's punt within five yards of Dallas' end zone. The Michigan product will likely need another crooked score to reach double-digit snaps on offense against Cleveland on Sunday.
Oct 2, 2023
Used sparingly Sunday
Bell caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 35-16 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The 49ers were without one of its top three receivers for the second consecutive week, which afforded Bell nine snaps on offense (16 percent) Sunday. The rookie was unable to repeat last week's trip to the end zone, resulting in a quiet receiving day from the Michigan product. Jauan Jennings' (shin) injury doesn't appear to be serious, so Bell's playing time may vanish as soon as next Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys.
Sep 22, 2023
Scores first TD of career
Bell caught both of his targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 30-12 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Ray-Ray McCloud got the start in place of Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder), but it was Bell who wound up being the primary beneficiary with a short red-zone score in the second quarter of Thursday's win. The seventh-round rookie wound up seeing 31 snaps on offense (37 percent), finishing in a tie with Jauan Jennings for the third-most amongst San Francisco wideouts. Bell was limited to two targets in a committee approach to replace Aiyuk's production, so fantasy managers shouldn't overreact to the rookie's first touchdown. There is also the possibility that Aiyuk returns in Week 4 -- with nine days between an Oct. 1 matchup against Arizona -- which would push Bell back into a reserve role.

Injuries improve roster bid
Bell could start the season as high as fourth on the wide receiver depth chart after multiple San Francisco wideouts suffered injuries this preseason.
ANALYSIS
Ray-Ray McCloud -- San Francisco's fourth receiver and return specialist -- will miss the first two months of the regular season after injuring his wrist in the 49ers' second preseason game. Danny Gray (shoulder) and Chris Conley (shoulder) popped up on the injury report after the team's final preseason tilt, leaving Bell as the healthiest option to potentially fill in for McCloud this year. The seventh-round pick ripped off a couple of big gains in exhibition play, but he also fumbled twice (one lost) in limited action. Bell may be forced into a bigger role than expected, but he won't see much action on offense with Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings all ready for Week 1.
Aug 14, 2023
Gets start with regulars resting
Bell finished with three receptions (six targets) for 58 yards in Sunday's preseason opener against Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
San Francisco rested its top four wideouts in this first preseason game, as those spots/roles on the depth chart are set in stone barring injury. This gave the Bell the opportunity to start alongside veteran Chris Conley (3-47-0), who is also competing for one of the final WR spots this preseason. The seventh-round pick responded to the opportunity and led the 49ers in receiving Sunday. While it was a nice exhibition debut for Bell, he doesn't carry any fantasy value heading into the 2023 season.
Apr 29, 2023
Heads west
The 49ers selected Bell in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 253rd overall.
ANALYSIS
Bell has an impressive resume after playing five years at Michigan, particularly for falling so late in the draft. However, he lacks speed and burst, so there is significant concern that he won't be able to separate from coverage as a pro. The 49ers receiving corps isn't overly impressive after Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, so Bell could have a shot to make the roster as a depth piece.
