Placed back on practice squad
Gage reverted to San Francisco's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
This was almost certainly just a temporary move, as Gage is fully expected to be active for Sunday's Week 2 tilt in New Orleans. The veteran wideout finished third among the 49ers' wideouts in offensive snaps with 28 on Sunday versus Seattle, behind only Ricky Pearsall (64) and Jauan Jennings (50). Jennings hurt his shoulder in the victory and is awaiting results of an MRI, which should help determine his chances of playing against the Saints. If Jennings can't suit up Sunday, Gage figures to take on a more prominent role, especially with star tight end George Kittle slated to miss multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury. Gage didn't see any official targets in Week 1, but he had a pass thrown his way that went incomplete and was wiped out by a roughing-the-passer penalty. Aside from Pearsall and Gage, San Francisco's other healthy options at wide receiver are Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore and Kendrick Bourne, the latter of whom was signed on Monday and may need some time to acclimate to the team.

Bumps up from practice squad
The 49ers elevated Gage (knee) from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game at Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Gage was diagnosed with an MCL sprain Aug. 21 and received a recovery timeline of 7-to-10 days at the time. Since then, he's been released by the 49ers, re-signed and released again before landing on the practice squad Wednesday with the expectation that he'd be elevated for Week 1. Now that that has come to pass, Gage will serve as a depth wide receiver Sunday behind Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore, with rookie Jordan Watkins (ankle) doubtful to play.

Lands on SF's practice squad
The 49ers signed Gage (knee) to their practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage was released by San Francisco on Tuesday, but the immediate expectation was that he'd be back with the club as a member of the practice squad. That has indeed come to pass, and the veteran wideout is slated to be elevated to play Week 1 against Seattle. If Gage does suit up Sunday, he could get some looks on offense given the depleted state of the 49ers' wideout corps.

Let go by Niners
The 49ers released Gage (knee) on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schefter relays that the 49ers intend to sign Gage to the practice and elevate him for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Seahawks, as long as the 2018 sixth-rounder doesn't sign with another team. Gage is working through an MCL sprain in his knee, but it appears the issue isn't severe enough for him to miss any games were he to be on a team's active roster. He last saw regular-season action in 2022 with the Buccaneers, when he logged 51 catches (on 70 targets) for 426 yards and five touchdowns across 13 games. His lack of regular-season action over the past two years was largely due to a patellar tendon tear that he suffered in August of 2023.
Aug 28, 2025
No practice after signing
Gage (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage re-signed with the 49ers on Thursday after being released Tuesday, but he isn't quite ready to practice, still recovering from the MCL sprain he suffered last Thursday. He could get slot work Week 1 at Seattle if he's healthy enough to play, as the 49ers have a slew of other WRs dealing with injuries (or suspensions).
Aug 28, 2025
Re-signs with Niners
Gage (knee) is re-signing with the 49ers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was released Tuesday, likely with a verbal agreement in place to re-sign after cutdown day. He suffered an MCL sprain Aug. 21, but it isn't considered overly serious and may not keep him out for Week 1. Gage may have a meaningful role if the plays, given San Francisco's other injury and suspension issues at wide receiver. Only Ricky Pearsall appears locked in as a starter for the opener in Seattle.
Aug 26, 2025
Let go by Niners
The 49ers released Gage (knee) on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage suffered a sprained MCL on Aug. 21 and was expected to miss seven to 10 days, meaning he could be ready for Week 1 if he signs elsewhere. The 2018 sixth-round pick last played for the Buccaneers in 2022 and posted 51 receptions for 426 yards and five touchdowns through 13 games. Gage suffered a season-ending injury during training camp in 2023, and he failed to make an active roster in 2024.
Aug 21, 2025
Managing MCL sprain
Gage (knee) is expected to miss 7-to-10 days due to a sprained MCL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage is the newest addition to a long list of injured 49ers wideouts, joining Jauan Jennings (calf), Jacob Cowing (hamstring) and Jordan Watkins (ankle), plus Brandon Aiyuk (ACL), who remains on the active/PUP list and could be out until around Week 6. With Demarcus Robinson also now unavailable early in the year due to a three-game suspension, Gage's injury is a notable blow to San Francisco's depth, despite the 29-year-old veteran not having logged regular-season action since 2022. Gage's recovery timetable essentially rules him out of Friday's preseason finale against the Chargers, though he should have time to return to full health in time for Week 1 against Seattle on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Jul 29, 2025
Healthy start to camp
Gage put his improved health on display when he made an athletic grab during Tuesday's padded practice session, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage suffered a torn patellar tendon during training camp in 2023 that cost him the last two years of action. The veteran wideout admitted that his career felt in jeopardy before latching on to the 49ers' practice squad late last season and rediscovering his burst. The 29-year-old has proven to be a reliable backup option during his time with Atlanta and Tampa Bay, a role he hopes to carve out in camp for a lean receiver room in San Francisco.
Jan 7, 2025
Remaining with SF
The 49ers signed Gage to a reserve/future deal Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage is an NFL veteran who spent the first four years of his career with the Falcons. The 28-year-old hasn't logged a snap in an NFL game since 2022 when he was with Tampa Bay -- during that campaign, he was fairly productive with a career-high five touchdown catches while recording 51 receptions for 426 yards over 13 regular-season contests. Gage latched on with San Francisco's practice squad this November and will now have a chance to compete for a roster spot during training camp this summer.
Nov 6, 2024
Finds work in San Francisco
The 49ers signed Gage to their practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old wideout failed to catch on in Baltimore this past offseason, but he's now found a new home in San Francisco. Gage most recently appeared in 13 regular-season games with the Buccaneers in 2022, catching 51 of his 70 targets for 426 yards and five touchdowns. He could find his way onto the 49ers' active roster if their wide receiver room faces injuries later this season.
Aug 26, 2024
Ravens move on
The Ravens are releasing Gage, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage, who missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon last August, caught on with Baltimore earlier this month, but he'll now look to either land a roster spot elsewhere or secure a practice squad opportunity. The 28-year-old last saw regular-season action in 2022 with the Buccaneers, when he logged a 51/426/5 receiving line in 13 contests.
Aug 6, 2024
Joins Baltimore WR corps
The Ravens signed Gage on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon last August, but he's progressed to the point where the Ravens will give him a chance to compete for a WR spot behind top options Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. The 28-year-old last saw regular-season action with Tampa Bay in 2022, when he recorded a 51/426/5 receiving line in 13 games.
Jun 11, 2024
Gets look from New Orleans
Gage (knee) is receiving a tryout with the Saints during minicamp this week, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in August, then had the final year of his contract declined by the Buccaneers in March. His ability to workout for New Orleans should signal the 28-year-old is healthy enough to compete, and if he can return to form, could still be a third No. 3 or 4 receiver for a variety of teams.
Mar 11, 2024
Contract option declined
Gage (knee) is a free agent after the Buccaneers declined his contract option for 2024, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage signed a three-year, $30 million contract in March 2022 and ended up playing just 13 regular-season games in two years with Tampa Bay. He missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in August -- an injury that's considered one of the toughest to come back from. Gage turned 28 in January and should still generate some interest as a potential third/fourth WRs if he's able to continue his NFL career and complete his rehab from the severe knee injury.
Feb 21, 2024
May be released soon
The Buccaneers may release Gage (knee) before he's due a $1.5 million roster bonus March 1, Dan Pompei of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage also has a non-guaranteed $8.5 million base salary for the third and final year of his contract, though the use of void years means the Bucs will free up only $6.5 million in 2024 cap space if he's released. The 28-year-old suffered a torn patellar tendon in August, putting his NFL future in jeopardy. Gage might consider renegotiating his contract to stay in Tampa Bay and continue his rehab with the Buccaneers.
Aug 20, 2023
Officially lands on IR
The Buccaneers placed Gage (knee) on injured reserve Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage will miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign after he suffered a patellar tendon tear during Wednesday's joint practice with the Jets. The 27-year-old dealt with numerous injuries last regular season, including hamstring, ankle and back issues, which sidelined him for four games. He also sustained a scary concussion during Tampa Bay's wild-card loss to Dallas in January. Gage reworked his contract with the team in March, and he deal with a lower leg injury to begin training camp. After finally looking healthy again heading into joint practices, the 6-foot slot receiver will now have to sit out until the final season of his three-year contract with the Bucs in 2024.
Aug 17, 2023
Suffers torn patellar tendon
Coach Todd Bowles confirmed Thursday that Gage is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Gage likely to be placed on IR in short order, the Buccaneers' depth behind top two wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin takes a big hit. Among those now in the mix to make cases for expanded roles this coming season are rookie sixth-round pick Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and David Moore.
Aug 16, 2023
Out for season
Gage sustained a season-ending right knee injury during Wednesday's joint practice with the Jets, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage needed a cart to get off the practice field following a non-contact injury. After undergoing an MRI, he's expected to have surgery on his right knee in the coming days. With Gage out for the 2023 campaign, the immediate depth behind the Buccaneers' top two wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin includes rookie sixth-round pick Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and David Moore.
Aug 16, 2023
Expected to miss 2023 campaign
Gage (knee) is expected to miss the entire 2023 season after being carted off the practice field Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers haven't yet confirmed the severity of Gage's injury, but the news seems inevitable given the non-contact nature of his injury. The 27-year-old wideout will likely be placed on season-ending IR in the near future, with his attentions turned toward making a recovery for 2024. Tampa Bay will likely add receiver depth behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, to fill the void at the No. 3 wideout spot.
Aug 16, 2023
Injury could end season
The belief heading into exams is that the non-contact knee injury Gage suffered in Wednesday's practice is season-ending, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the injury, Gage was in line to serve as the Buccaneers' No. 3 wide receiver behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. If his injury is indeed a long-term issue, the team figures to add depth at the position in short order. Also currently in Tampa Bay's WR mix are Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins, David Moore and Kaylon Geiger, among others.
Aug 16, 2023
Carted off practice field
Gage was carted off the practice field Wednesday due to a non-contact injury, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed some time due to a lower leg issue earlier in training camp, and it now seems as though he may have suffered a more severe injury. The Buccaneers have yet to disclose an official update on Gage's status, but non-contact injuries aren't often minor. As long as Gage is sidelined, Trey Palmer, Deven Thompkins and David Moore could see more reps behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Aug 3, 2023
Looking healthy
Gage (leg) is participating in 11-on-11s, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith adds that Gage caught a 20-yard pass from the slot during Thursday's practice while taking a first-team rep in 11 personnel. That will likely be his role once the season begins, working as the third receiver behind Mike Evan and Chris Godwin, though it remains to be seen how they typically align under new offensive coordinator Dave Canales. There's already discussion of Evans moving around more in the new offense, and both Gage and Godwin arguably are at their best when operating from the slot. Versatility is a good thing, of course, but Gage might have a rather low rate of targets per route if he spends a good chunk of his time on the perimeter and shares the field with a healthy Evans and healthy Godwin. In any case, Gage seems to have moved past the leg injury that limited his participation in spring practices and the first week of training camp.
Jul 31, 2023
Another step forward Monday
Gage (lower leg) was able to participate in the first set of 1-on-1 drills between receivers and defensive backs Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The activity level was a step up from Sunday, when Gage had been able to jump into individual position drills. The veteran also participated in those Monday in addition to the reps he took against cornerbacks, leading head coach Todd Bowles to remark that Gage is "getting back to normal." Brianna Dix of the team's official site also notes the 27-year-old looked effective, using both a double move and inside leverage to record catches. Assuming he continues free of setbacks, it seems likely Gage will be able to achieve full practice participation before the end of the week.
Jul 30, 2023
Back on practice field
Gage (undisclosed) was on the field for practice Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage had missed the Buccaneers' first three sessions of training camp due to a previously undisclosed issue, though Auman relays that the receiver had been tending to a leg injury. The 27-year-old was in full uniform Sunday and was spotted running routes without any obvious limitations, so he looks like he'll have a clean bill of health heading into the Buccaneers' Aug. 11 preseason opener versus the Steelers.
Jul 28, 2023
Unable to practice
Gage (undisclosed) spent Wednesday's practice running on the side, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was the only player unable to practice in some capacity during Wednesday's training camp session. He sat out June minicamp as well, but Gage still has plenty of time to recover from his unspecified injury before the Buccaneers open the regular season Sept. 10 in Minnesota.
Jul 25, 2023
Working his way back still
Gage (undisclosed) isn't quite back to full strength but won't be on the PUP list for the start of training camp, ESPN.com's Jenna Laine reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed June minicamp with an undisclosed injury, and while he apparently is still working his way back six weeks later, the Bucs don't seem worried about his Week 1 availability. The 27-year-old agreed to reduce his base salary from $10 million to $7 million this offseason, setting him up for another year as the No. 3 receiver alongside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin after injuries marred Gage's first season in Tampa. Meanwhile, QBs Baker Mayfield and Trask are set to begin their competition for the Week 1 starting job.
Jun 13, 2023
Not practicing
Gage is being held out of Tuesday's practice with an unspecified injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was forced out of Tampa Bay's wild-card loss to Dallas in January after a hard hit led to a concussion and possible neck injury, but this likely is unrelated given that he participated in the early portion of OTAs. He agreed to reduce his base salary from $10 million to $7 million this March, getting a full guarantee in exchange. Gage thus figures to operate as Tampa's No. 3 receiver again, though he mostly disappointed last season and is now set up to catch passes from either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask in 2023.
Mar 12, 2023
Reworks contract
The Buccaneers restructured Gage's contact Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage agreed to adjust his 2023 base salary from $10 million to $7 million, thus creating some slight relief for the cap-strapped Buccaneers. This renegotiated contract does fully guarantee his payment for the 2023 season, which represents a $2 million in guaranteed salary, according to Greg Auman of Fox Sports. Gage's new deal also includes multiple salary incentives that will give him an opportunity to earn back some of his previous salary.
Jan 17, 2023
Avoids neck injury
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Gage (concussion) that has movement in all of his extremities and should be released from the hospital later Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was hospitalized after exiting late in the fourth quarter of Monday's 31-14 loss to the Cowboys in the wild-card round upon taking a hit to the back of his head/neck area. While Gage has been diagnosed with a concussion, Bowles disclosed that the Buccaneers have ruled out any neck injury for the veteran receiver. Provided he isn't experiencing long-term symptoms of the concussion, Gage looks like he'll be a full participant by the time OTAs begin in the spring. Gage, who tallied two catches for 10 yards on eight targets before exiting Monday's contest, finished the regular season -- his first in Tampa Bay -- with a 51-426-5 receiving line over 13 games.
Jan 17, 2023
Has movement in all extremities
The Buccaneers announced Tuesday that Gage (concussion/neck) remained overnight for additional testing at a local hospital following Monday's loss to the Cowboys, and that he has regained movement in all his extremities.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay's statement notes that Gage will undergo additional testing Tuesday. The wideout had to be carted off the field during Monday's wild-card playoff loss against Dallas due to a neck injury and concussion. The Buccaneers will provide further updates about the 26-year-old's health as more information becomes available.
Jan 16, 2023
Suffers concussion Monday
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said postgame that Gage sustained a concussion during Monday's wild-card loss to Dallas, and he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for an additional neck injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage had to be carted off the field after sustaining this injury late in the fourth quarter, as he was down on the field for some time following a hit from behind to his head and neck. Bowles added that the 26-year-old had movement in his extremities before being transported to the hospital, per Smith. This subsequent medical examination should provide more clarity on the nature and extent of this potential neck injury as well.
Jan 16, 2023
Carted off late in wild-card loss
Gage was loaded onto a backboard and carted off the field after sustaining an undisclosed injury in the fourth quarter of Monday's 31-14 playoff defeat versus the Cowboys, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage sustained a blow from behind to the head and neck area while attempting to catch an incomplete pass late in the fourth quarter. The exact nature of this injury is still unclear, though the 26-year-old was unable to get up and had to be tended to on the field for an extended period before being carted off, according to Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site.
Jan 8, 2023
Finds end zone in finale
Gage secured three of six targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 30-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage recorded a three-yard touchdown grab in conjunction with Blaine Gabbert late in the second quarter, which served as the highlight of his abbreviated workday. With Julio Jones (knee) inactive and seemingly a 50/50 proposition to play each week, Gage could be in for an elevated role in next weekend's home wild-card matchup after finishing the regular season with a surge that saw him tally four of his five scores in the last five games.
Jan 4, 2023
Modest production in win
Gage caught all three of his targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 30-24 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Gage operated as the Buccaneers' No. 3 receiver Sunday, playing 42 of the team's 78 offensive snaps. The 26-year-old has maintained a solid snap share on offense even with Julio Jones active for the past two games. Tampa Bay continues to limit Jones' snaps as he recovers from a knee injury that sidelined him in Week 15. Gage will look to stay involved in a Week 18 matchup against the Falcons, though his opportunities may be limited behind fellow wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Jan 1, 2023
Should still enjoy solid role
Gage should retain a solid snap share in Sunday's Week 17 divisional battle against the Panthers despite the fact fellow wideout Julio Jones (knee) is active for the contest per Scott Smith of the team's official site.
ANALYSIS
Jones once again was handled with care throughout the practice week due to his lingering knee issues, and although he'll suit up versus Carolina, a similar scenario to last Sunday night's overtime win against the Cardinals could unfold. In that contest, Jones played just 19 snaps to Gage's 43, with the latter producing a 5-65 line on six targets. Given Gage also proved highly valuable with eight receptions, including a pair of touchdowns, in a Week 15 loss to the Bengals that Jones was sidelined for, he could certainly play much more of a co-No. 3 receiver role once again versus the Panthers.
Dec 26, 2022
Strong contributions again Sunday
Gage brought in five of six targets for 65 yards in the Buccaneers' 19-16 overtime win over the Cardinals on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Gage put together another strong performance despite Julio Jones garnering active status after missing the Week 15 loss to the Bengals with a knee injury. Gage's yardage total checked in second on the night for the Bucs, and he made critical 23- and 13-yard grabs on the game-winning drive in overtime despite appearing to hurt his leg on each catch. The veteran wideout's 18 targets over the last pair of contests is certainly encouraging after he played a minimal role for weeks, and it remains to be seen if Tom Brady will lean heavily on him again in a pivotal Week 17 home divisional clash against the Panthers.
Dec 18, 2022
Takes advantage of elevated role
Gage had eight receptions (12 targets) for 59 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-23 loss to Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Gage was elevated to No. 3 on the depth chart with Julio Jones (knee) inactive Sunday. The veteran wideout capitalized on the opportunity and delivered on two short scores, doubling his season touchdown total in the process. Gage has dealt with his own injury problems in 2022, but he has performed well when asked to fill in for downed teammates. If Jones is forced to miss next week's tilt, then Gage could provide flex value in a similar role against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Dec 18, 2022
In line for No. 3 role Sunday
Gage is expected to slot into the No. 3 receiver role in Sunday's game against the Bengals with Julio Jones (knee) inactive for the contest, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage has plenty of experience stepping up in the wide receiver pecking order, considering Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jones have all missed time to varying degree this season. However, the expanded opportunities haven't led to much meaningful fantasy production, as Gage enters Sunday's game with a modest 32-254-2 line across nine contests.
Dec 13, 2022
Scores team's only TD in loss
Gage brought in both targets for 12 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 35-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 14.
ANALYSIS
Gage was responsible for the Bucs' only reason to celebrate on the afternoon, making a literal shoestring scoring grab on a ball that caromed off both teammate Chris Godwin and the 49ers' Fred Warner at the goal line just barely managing to break the plane, as confirmed by instant replay review. The modest numbers overall were par for the course in a disappointing, injury-riddled first season in Tampa Bay for Gage, however, as he'll carry a 32-254-2 line and tallies of 39 receiving yards or less in six consecutive contests into a Week 15 home interconference matchup against the Bengals.
Dec 6, 2022
One catch in return
Gage (hamstring) brought in his only target for 11 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Making his first appearance since Week 7, Gage unsurprisingly filled a low-volume role as the No. 4 receiver. Gage had recorded multiple receptions in each of his first seven games of the campaign prior to being sidelined, but with Julio Jones now healthy and slotting into the No. 3 role, Gage's already modest upside is even more capped unless injuries strike in front of him.
Dec 5, 2022
Back in action Monday
Gage (hamstring) is active for Monday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage put himself in a position for his first game action since Week 7 by logging a full practice Saturday. Indeed, that has come to pass, but the Buccaneers' receiving corps is as healthy as it's been all season, meaning his snap count may be capped working behind the likes of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones. More than likely, Gage will be vying with Scotty Miller for any WR reps that linger.
Dec 3, 2022
Trending in positive direction
Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Saints, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday, but the veteran receiver was upgraded to a full participant in the final practice of the week, which should be a good sign for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old has not played since Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, and he had just one game with more than two receptions in the four weeks prior to suffering the aforementioned injury.
Dec 2, 2022
Another limited practice
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Friday.
ANALYSIS
Gage has now practiced on back-to-back days after not doing so at all since Week 7. He's close to a return, but it might not happen for Monday's game against the Saints, especially given that the Bucs don't need him as much with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones all healthy at the moment.
Dec 1, 2022
Begins week as limited participant
Gage (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Gage's limited session marks his first recorded practice activity since Week 7. Considering that he's missed each of the Buccaneers' last four games over a stretch of five weeks, Gage may need to upgrade to full participation in practices Friday or Saturday to have a good chance at playing Monday against the Saints. Even if Gage is active for that contest, he'll likely find himself as the fourth man on the depth chart at receiver, as all of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones are currently healthy.
Nov 25, 2022
Sidelined for Week 12
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Gage (hamstring) won't play Sunday in Cleveland, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with the benefit of a Week 11 bye, Gage didn't demonstrate enough progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury during practices Wednesday through Friday for the Buccaneers to feel comfortable with him suiting up this weekend. With Gage set to miss a fourth straight game, Godwin should operate as the Buccaneers' primary slot man, while Julio Jones will get more opportunities to work out on the perimeter opposite Mike Evans.
Nov 24, 2022
Doesn't practice Thursday
Gage (hamstring) was listed as a DNP on Thursday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
Gage has yet to log anything but a DNP on Buccaneers injury reports since hurting his hamstring back in Week 7. However, he was seen working with the training staff on the side during the portion of Thursday's session open to the media, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Another absence may be in the offing for Gage on Sunday in Cleveland, which may be confirmed as early as Friday. While he's sidelined, Tampa Bay will continue to rely on Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as its top wide receivers, with Julio Jones and Scotty Miller next up for snaps and targets.
Nov 23, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Gage (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage reportedly practiced Monday, following a Week 11 bye, but he'll now be listed as a non-participant on the team's first official injury report of Week 12. He hasn't played since injuring his hamstring Week 7, allowing Julio Jones and Scotty Miller to step into larger roles behind the lead duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Nov 21, 2022
Practicing Monday
Gage (hamstring) is participating in Monday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage is back at practice since the first time since injuring his hamstring Week 7, so it appears that he benefited from Tampa Bay's bye week. If Gage is able to continue ramping up his activity without any setbacks, he could have a chance of returning to action Sunday versus Cleveland.
Nov 10, 2022
Not traveling to Germany
Gage (hamstring) won't travel to Germany for Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Munich, effectively ruling him out for Week 10 action, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This comes as no surprise after Gage failed to practice in any capacity Wednesday and Thursday. He'll miss his third game as a result of a hamstring injury, but the Buccaneers' Week 11 bye could position him to return to action Week 12 at Cleveland if he makes enough headway in his recovery. With Gage unavailable this weekend, Mike Evans (ribs/ankle), Chris Godwin and Julio Jones (rest/knee) will be Tampa Bay's primary wide receivers. Meanwhile, Scotty Miller is the best bet to earn any residual snaps that don't go to the aforementioned trio.
Nov 10, 2022
Another DNP on Thursday
Gage (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
With no noticeable on-field work since suffering a hamstring injury Week 7 at Carolina, Gage seems to be trending toward a third consecutive absence Sunday versus the Seahawks in Munich. Friday's practice report may confirm as much, and if he indeed sits out this weekend, Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Jaelon Darden will be the Buccaneers' depth receivers behind the top three of Mike Evans (ribs/ankle), Chris Godwin and Julio Jones (rest/knee).
Nov 9, 2022
No practice Wednesday
Gage (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage has yet to take part in a practice since hurting his hamstring Week 7 in Carolina, missing the last two games as a result. Without some on-field activity Thursday or Friday, he's likely on pace to miss a third consecutive contest Sunday versus the Seahawks in Munich. The Buccaneers may rule out Gage before they embark on the trans-Atlantic flight in the coming days.
Nov 4, 2022
Won't play this week
Gage (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Gage missing a second straight game, the Bucs figure to go with Mike Evans (ankle), Chris Godwin and Julio Jones as their top three wide receivers again. They also have Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Jaelon Darden as depth options, which could come in handy if Evans has a setback with his ankle or Jones' PCL injury flares up.
Nov 3, 2022
Still no activity at practice
Gage (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Gage remains sidelined due to the hamstring issue that he suffered Week 7 in Carolina and appears to be trending toward a second straight absence Sunday against the Rams. If such an outcome is confirmed on the release of Friday's injury report, the Buccaneers likely will roll with their top three wide receivers Mike Evans (ankle) -- who was limited Wednesday and Thursday -- Chris Godwin and Julio Jones (knee) in Week 9
Nov 2, 2022
No practice Wednesday
Gage (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Since injuring his hamstring Week 7 at Carolina, Gage hasn't stepped foot on the practice field. He'll have two more opportunities this week to do so, but if he's unable to Thursday and/or Friday, he'll be in danger of missing a second game in a row Sunday against the Rams. Julio Jones (knee) also sat out Wednesday, while Mike Evans (ankle) was limited, so Chris Godwin, Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Jaelon Darden are the healthy members of the Buccaneers' receiving corps at the moment.
Oct 26, 2022
Out versus Ravens
Coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Gage (hamstring) is ruled out for Thursday's game against the Ravens, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage won't be available for the Buccaneers in Week 8 after injuring his hamstring Sunday, while Julio Jones (knee) is expected to be a game-time decision. The wideout has drawn at least four targets in six straight games, and he will work to get healthy in time to face the Rams in Week 9.
Oct 25, 2022
Not practicing yet
Gage (hamstring) didn't take part in Tuesday's walkthrough, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage has yet to step on the field since injuring his hamstring this past Sunday at Carolina, giving him little time to do so ahead of Thursday's contest against the Ravens. Fellow wide receivers Mike Evans (ankle) and Julio Jones (knee) followed DNPs on Monday with limited showings Tuesday, so they may have better chances to join Chris Godwin as active Week 8. Ultimately, Gage's listing on Wednesday's practice report could clear up his status.
Oct 24, 2022
Doesn't practice Monday
Gage (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant in Monday's walkthrough, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage exited Sunday's loss at Carolina with a hamstring issue and was slated to undergo an MRI on Monday, per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. While the results of the examination are unknown, Gage went down as a DNP along with Mike Evans (ankle) and Julio Jones (knee) on the first injury report of Week 8 prep. With a short week to prepare for Thursday's game versus the Ravens, Gage's status should be monitored to get a sense of his upcoming availability (or lack thereof).
Oct 24, 2022
Set for MRI on hamstring
Gage (hamstring) will have an MRI to determine the severity of his injury Monday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was forced out of Sunday's loss to the Panthers in the fourth quarter, so his status will need to be monitored ahead of Thursday's contest against the Ravens. It's possible that the fifth-year wideout aggravated the hamstring injury that hampered him during the first four weeks of the season. Coach Todd Bowles said Monday's he's currently uncertain about Gage's status for Week 8, per Greg Auman of The Athletic, but the receiver's MRI results should provide more information.
Oct 23, 2022
Departs Sunday's game
Gage picked up a hamstring injury during Sunday's contest at Carolina, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Before exiting in the fourth quarter, Gage reeled in four of his five targets for 39 yards. He tended to a hamstring injury for the first four weeks of the campaign, so the fifth-year wide receiver may have aggravated the issue.
Oct 17, 2022
Pair of grabs in loss
Gage brought in two of four targets for 20 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-18 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage once again spent plenty of time on the field -- he logged 53 snaps overall -- yet had little to show for it. The veteran now has three straight two-catch efforts, and he's eclipsed 28 receiving yards all of one time in the first six games, despite the prolonged absence of Julio Jones (knee). Gage's fantasy value remains muted heading into a Week 7 divisional matchup on the road against the Panthers.
Oct 14, 2022
Fine for Sunday
Gage (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Gage was listed with a hamstring injury for the first five weeks of the season and now is bothered by his ankle, though not enough to keep him off the field. He even managed a full practice Friday, suggesting he'll be fine for his usual role alongside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, whereas Julio Jones (knee) is listed as doubtful.
Oct 13, 2022
Limited in return to practice
Gage (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Gage was bothered by a hamstring injury all season before he made an appearance on the Bucs' injury report last Saturday due to a back issue. He was able to play Week 5 against the Falcons en route to a typical 73-percent snap share and two catches (on six targets) for 20 yards. Now, Gage is tending to an ankle issue, but he at least was able to mix into drills Thursday, which he didn't do Wednesday. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not Gage heads into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Pittsburgh.
Oct 13, 2022
Practicing Thursday
Gage (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage didn't practice Wednesday, so his return to Thursday's session is a step in the right direction for the wideout ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers. The Buccaneers' upcoming injury report will reveal whether Gage was limited or worked without limitations Thursday.
Oct 12, 2022
Dealing with ankle issue
Gage didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
As of the final injury report of Week 5 last Friday, Gage had only been impacted by a hamstring issue this season. But the Buccaneers added him to the report Saturday due to a back concern before he suited up this past Sunday against the Falcons. Gage logged a typical 73 percent of the offensive snaps but managed to haul in just two of six targets for 20 yards. Now, a new injury is impacting his health. As a result, Gage's status should be monitored as the week goes on to get a sense of if he's in danger of sitting out Sunday in Pittsburgh.
Oct 10, 2022
Limited production versus old squad
Gage (back) secured two of six targets for 20 yards and recorded a two-point conversion reception in the Buccaneers' 21-15 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran played through an injury designation yet again, although this time it was a back issue that cropped up Saturday. Gage played a clear complementary role behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and even rookie tight end Cade Otton, the latter, who finished with a career-best 6-43 line on seven targets. Gage appears destined for modest production in a decidedly short-area role under any circumstance, as he's yet to top 87 yards (and that was on 12 catches) in any game and has been held to under 30 yards in his other four contests.
Oct 9, 2022
Playing Sunday, per usual
Gage (back) is listed as active Sunday against the Falcons, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage has played through a lingering hamstring issue all season, but a back concern was the reason the Buccaneers added him to the injury report Saturday, leaving his status in question for Week 5. He'll nonetheless be available to the offense Sunday, and he'll join Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in a receiving corps that'll be without Julio Jones (knee) for the third time on the campaign. Through four contests, Gage has averaged 5.3 catches for 38 yards per game while scoring one touchdown.
Oct 9, 2022
Should be available Sunday
Gage (knee) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers are hopeful about both Gage and Julio Jones (knee) for Sunday. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin both back atop the depth chart, though, the team could afford an absence from Gage if it's felt that caution is for the best. He's surpassed 30 receiving yards in just one of four appearances.
Oct 8, 2022
Back on injury report
Gage (hamstring) was added to the injury report Saturday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Falcons, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is less than ideal news for Gage considering the slot receiver didn't have an injury designation following Friday's practice after weeks of dealing with a balky hamstring injury. The Buccaneers have gotten healthier at wide receiver over recent weeks with Chris Godwin officially back and Julio Jones (knee) trending in the right direction so a precautionary absence for Gage wouldn't be overly surprising. Expect more news to emerge before the team's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 7, 2022
Cleared to face Falcons
Gage (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage and Chris Godwin (knee) have been removed from the injury report, while Julio Jones (knee) is listed as questionable for a fourth straight week. Gage mostly worked on the perimeter in a Week 4 loss to Kansas City while Godwin dominated slot snaps, but it was more mixed back in Week 1 the last time both were healthy. If the Falcons use A.J. Terrell to shadow Mike Evans, it'd leave Casey Hayward on whichever of Godwin/Gage gets the perimeter snaps, while the slot receiver could be lined up against any one of three or four different players the Falcons have used there this year.
Oct 6, 2022
Another limited practice
Gage (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Gage has managed to play through a hamstring concern all campaign, and the state of the Bucs' receiving corps on any given week has determined his workload, as his targets have ranged from two in the season opener to 13 in Week 3. Mike Evans is atop Tampa Bay's receiving corps, but all of Gage, Chris Godwin (knee), Julio Jones (knee) and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) have had a cap on their reps this week. As a result, Friday's injury report could give a sense of Gage's potential to produce Sunday against the Falcons, assuming he again is on pace to be available.
Oct 5, 2022
Still limited at practice
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
A hamstring issue has followed Gage throughout the season, but he's been the one constant in the Buccaneers' receiving corps, playing between 42 and 81 percent of the offensive snaps weekly, depending on who was available for game day. Overall, he's averaging 7.2 YPC and 6.1 YPT on his 25 targets through four games. Assuming he's available Sunday versus the Falcons, Gage will work alongside Mike Evans, while the statuses of Chris Godwin (knee), Julio Jones (knee) and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) remain up in the air after being limited, too, Wednesday.
Oct 4, 2022
Limited to two grabs in loss
Gage brought in two of four targets for 24 yards during the Buccaneers' 41-31 loss to the Saints on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
With Chris Godwin and Julio Jones available to start the game after overcoming their questionable designations, Gage saw exponentially less volume than in Week 4, despite the fact Jones was ultimately limited to just 18 snaps. Gage logged 41 in his own right, but he still generated his lowest reception and yardage totals since Week 1 against the Cowboys. With Jones' health once again in question due to his knee issues, Gage could be in line for a return to a larger role against his old Falcons teammates in a Week 5 home clash.
Oct 2, 2022
Active in Week 4
Gage (hamstring) is listed as active Sunday against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Gage has dealt with a hamstring issue all season, but he's still suited up for all three games, culminating in a 12-87-1 line on 13 targets last Sunday against the Packers. He's unlikely to see such volume this weekend with Mike Evans back from his one-game suspension and Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) also available. That said, Gage still is in line for modest usage, with room to expand if any of the aforementioned trio again head to the sideline.
Oct 2, 2022
Expected to face Kansas City
Gage (hamstring) is expected to play Sunday night against Kansas City, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network report.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow wide receivers Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), though the trio's status will still be worth verifying ahead of Sunday's 8:20 ET kickoff. Meanwhile, Mike Evans is set to return from his Week 3 suspension, which likely sets the stage for Gage, if active, to see less volume than he did last weekend (13 targets) against the Packers when Godwin, Jones and Evans were all unavailable.
Sep 30, 2022
Technically deemed questionable
Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the fourth straight week he's been listed as questionable with the same hamstring injury, and he's yet to miss a game. Gage even put together a big stat line last week, with 12 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in a 14-12 loss to the Packers. He's unlikely to see that many looks Sunday night with Mike Evans back from suspension, but there is a shot Gage works as the No. 2 receiver with both Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) categorized as game-time decisions. The Chiefs and Bucs play on Sunday Night Football, which means inactive lists come out around 7:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Sep 29, 2022
Another limited showing
Gage (hamstring) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Both Gage and Julio Jones (knee) had a cap on their reps in the second session of Week 4 prep, while Chris Godwin (hamstring) was given a veteran rest day Thursday, and Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) has yet to practice this week. Among the quartet, Gage and Jones seem like the best bets to work alongside Mike Evans on Sunday against the Chiefs, but Friday's injury report may clear up the overall situation upon its release.
Sep 28, 2022
Limited practice Wednesday
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage joined Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) with a cap on his reps, while Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) was unable to practice at all. Otherwise, Mike Evans wasn't listed on the injury report as he returns from a one-game suspension. If one or both of Godwin and Jones is able to play Sunday versus the Chiefs, Gage wouldn't be due the 13 targets he managed when Evans, Godwin and Jones were sidelined during a Week 3 loss to the Packers. First, though, the Bucs have two more sessions before they're required to give designations ahead of this weekend.
Sep 25, 2022
Mixed performance Sunday
Gage caught 12 of 13 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown but lost a fumble in Sunday's 14-12 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Gage led the Buccaneers in all major receiving categories, taking advantage of Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) all being sidelined. His one-yard touchdown with 14 seconds left put Tampa Bay on the brink of overtime, yet Gage hurt the team's momentum with a fumble earlier in the game. Overall, though, he still posted a career high in receptions, which could help his chances of remaining involved even if Godwin and/or Jones are able to return alongside Evans in Week 4 versus the Chiefs.
Sep 25, 2022
Active as expected Sunday
Gage (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Packers, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed Friday's practice but was reportedly expected to be available, and it's now confirmed he'll play through his hamstring issue for the third time in as many games to open the season. Gage's presence will be especially critical Sunday, considering the absence of Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee).
Sep 25, 2022
Expected to suit up Sunday
Gage (hamstring) is expected play Sunday versus the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage looks set to play through his hamstring injury for a third straight week after having again been listed as questionable. With Mike Evans (suspension) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) unavailable Sunday, plus Julio Jones (knee) being a true game-time decision, Gage could be in line for expanded opportunities versus the Packers' stout secondary. Breshad Perriman (knee) is also expected to play Sunday.
Sep 23, 2022
Deemed questionable again
Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage is listed as questionable for a third straight week and likely will suit up for a third straight game. It is possible the injury has affected his workload and/or performance, however, with Gage sitting on 41 yards through two games and rarely leaving the slot. He could see more looks this week with both Mike Evans (suspension) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) ruled out and Julio Jones (knee) headed for a game-time decision. Cautious fantasy managers will also want to make sure Gage isn't a surprise inclusion on the inactive list ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Sep 22, 2022
Another limited session
Gage (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Both Gage and Breshad Perriman (knee) had their reps capped Thursday, while Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) didn't practice again, and Scotty Miller (calf) jumped from limited Wednesday to all activity one day later. The Buccaneers will be without Mike Evans in Week 3 versus the Packers due to a one-game suspension, and if Godwin and/or Jones also sit out, Gage would be in line for a significant target share this weekend. But that's assuming Gage ditches his designation ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 21, 2022
Limited with hamstring injury
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Gage likely will play through the hamstring injury for a third straight week this Sunday against Green Bay, but it may be impacting his effectiveness and/or workload, with the Bucs only using him as the No. 3 receiver even as they've lost other guys to injuries and suspensions. Mike Evans is suspended this week, and Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) both missed practice Wednesday.
Sep 18, 2022
Team-leading catch total in win
Gage (hamstring) secured five of six targets for 28 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-10 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage was able to play through his hamstring issues for a second straight week to open the season, finishing with a team-high number of catches in a game when the Buccaneers were down both Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee), and during which Mike Evans was ejected early in the fourth quarter. Gage has been even more of a short-area target over his first two games in Tampa Bay than he was in Atlanta, and he may have an uphill battle racking up yardage against a tough Packers secondary in Week 3 next Sunday.
Sep 18, 2022
Suiting up Week 2
Gage (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the Buccaneers' first practice of the week Wednesday and was limited Thursday and Friday, but the hamstring issue evidently isn't severe enough to keep him out for Week 2. With Chris Godwin's own hamstring injury set to keep him on the sideline this weekend, Gage projects to serve as the primary replacement in the slot. Meanwhile, Julio Jones (knee) is also inactive and Mike Evans (calf) is suiting up but is likely to draw coverage from the Saints' top corner, Marshon Lattimore, so Gage could have some sneaky fantasy value this week as a key underneath target for quarterback Tom Brady.
Sep 18, 2022
Expected to face Saints
Gage (hamstring) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Saints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage is expected to play Week 2 while the Buccaneers are reportedly optimistic about Mike Evans (calf), and Julio Jones (knee) is considered a game-time decision. Meanwhile, Chris Godwin (hamstring) is ruled out for Sunday's contest. Depending on how things pan out, Gage could have to step up into a key pass-catching role for Tom Brady versus the Saints.
Sep 16, 2022
Listed as questionable
Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against New Orleans, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage played through the same injury last week but didn't have much impact, seeing two targets on 42 percent snap share. There's an opportunity ahead with Chris Godwin (hamstring) ruled out for at least one game, but it isn't clear if Gage's own problematic hamstring will cooperate and allow him to take on a full workload. The Bucs also list Mike Evans (calf) and Julio Jones (knee) as questionable this week, creating a lot of uncertainty heading into the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Sep 15, 2022
Logs limited practice Thursday
Gage (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Gage was among three Bucs wideouts to sit out Wednesday -- also, Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) -- but he was the only one to return to the field one day later. Meanwhile, Mike Evans also didn't practice Thursday after kicking off Week 2 prep with a capped session, and Breshad Perriman remained limited. Overall, that accounts for the team's top five options at the position, so Gage's ability to practice puts him in a better light than Evans, Godwin and Jones. In the end, Friday's injury report could foretell how Tampa Bay's group of pass catchers will break down Sunday at New Orleans.
Sep 14, 2022
Doesn't practice
Gage missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury, the Saints' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage, Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) all missed practice, with the latter all but certain to miss time after exiting Week 1 early. Gage saw only two targets despite Godwin's early exit, perhaps still impacted by the hamstring injury that limited him for much of the summer and now has him absent from Wednesday's practice. Tampa's injury reports will need close watching throughout the rest of the week.
Sep 11, 2022
Modestly involved in Week 1 win
Gage brought in both targets for 13 yards in the Buccaneers' 19-3 win over the Cowboys on Sunday night.
ANALYSIS
Gage's team debut was a quiet one overall, but of overriding importance was the fact the veteran made it through the game without setbacks after having missed multiple weeks with a hamstring issue. Gage should enjoy an expanded role as the season unfolds and he gets acclimated to working with Tom Brady, and he could see a boost in workload as early as next Sunday's Week 2 divisional clash against the Saints if Chris Godwin isn't able to play due to the hamstring injury that forced his early exit from Sunday night's contest.
Sep 11, 2022
Suiting up Week 1
Gage (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game in Dallas, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the entire preseason schedule due to a hamstring injury sustained during a joint practice with the Dolphins on Aug. 10. While he put together back-to-back weeks with on-field work, he was limited in all three practices during preparation for the season opener. With his status now clear, he'll operate alongside Mike Evans, the returning Chris Godwin (knee) and Julio Jones.
Sep 9, 2022
On track to play
Gage (hamstring) is "likely to play" in Sunday's game at Dallas despite being listed as questionable, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
ANALYSIS
Gage was limited in practice Wednesday through Friday, but he's been participating in some capacity since the end of August of early September, after injuring his hamstring Aug. 10 during a scrimmage. Chris Godwin (knee) also is listed as questionable for Sunday night, while Mike Evans and Julio Jones are good to go. Gage may enjoy catching passes from QB Tom Brady, but it's possible the former Falcon slip to fourth on the depth chart if all four are ever healthy at the same time.
Sep 9, 2022
Questionable for Week 1
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Dallas, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chris Godwin (knee) also is listed as questionable, and while he managed full practices Wednesday and Friday, it's hard to know if he'll play less than nine months after suffering an ACL tear. Gage was a limited practice participant all week after being bothered by his hammy throughout much of August, making him truly questionable to suit up Sunday night in Dallas. If both he and Godwin were to miss the game, Tampa likely would turn to Scotty Miller as the third receiver alongside Mike Evans and Julio Jones.
Sep 8, 2022
Logs another limited practice
Gage (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
An offseason signing by Tampa Bay, Gage initially picked up his hamstring issue during a joint practice with the Dolphins on Aug. 10. He subsequently missed the entire preseason slate but was able to get back on the practice field last week. As the Bucs prepare for a Week 1 game at Dallas, Gage's activity level has become known, revealing that he isn't 100 percent healthy. Still, he has one more session this week in which to potentially log every rep. If he's able to suit up Sunday night, Gage could benefit with the status of Chris Godwin (knee), who didn't practice Thursday, uncertain this weekend.
Sep 7, 2022
Limited with hamstring injury
Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Todd Bowles was optimistic last week when discussing Gage's availability for the season opener against Dallas on Sunday. A limited practice suggests the wideout isn't quite back to full strength, but he'll still have some time to get there before the 8:20 ET kickoff Sunday night. Fellow wideout Chris Godwin, coming back from an ACL tear, was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, though coach Todd Bowles noted that both Godwin and the team's medical staff still need to sign off on him playing. Mike Evans and Julio Jones, meanwhile, are locked in and ready to play.
Sep 2, 2022
Trending up for Week 1
Gage (leg) was able to return to practice this past week, leaving him on track to be available for the Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys, the team's official site reports. "He's getting better and better every day," head coach Todd Bowles said. "We expect him to be on track to play and trending in the right direction."
ANALYSIS
The offseason acquisition has been sidelined for multiple weeks, but he appears to finally be past his physical issues. Gage reported feeling very good following Thursday's practice, and if he's available Week 1 as increasingly expected, it would help alleviate the potential absence of Chris Godwin (knee) in that contest.
Aug 27, 2022
Unlikely to play Saturday
Gage (leg) isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason contest at Indianapolis, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage thus will miss out on a chance to get some in-game reps with Tom Brady ahead of the regular season, the result of a left leg injury that has sidelined the wide receiver since a joint practice with the Dolphins on Aug. 10. Chris Godwin (knee) also won't suit up in the Buccaneers' exhibition finale, meaning Mike Evans and Julio Jones will be the team's top healthy options available at the position. Meanwhile, Gage will look to get healthy for a Week 1 road matchup with the Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Aug 25, 2022
Still not practicing
Gage (leg) is not participating in Thursday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage hasn't handled any on-field drills since suffering a left leg injury during a joint practice with the Dolphins on Aug. 10. The 26-year-old is trending in the wrong direction for Saturday's preseason finale against the Colts, but he still has over two weeks to get ready for the regular-season opener in Dallas on Sept. 11.
Aug 22, 2022
Misses another practice
Gage (leg) isn't practicing Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the first two weeks of the preseason and isn't looking good for Tampa's final exhibition this Saturday against Indianapolis. He hasn't practiced since Aug. 10 when he limped off the field during a scrimmage with the Dolphins.
Aug 20, 2022
Not suiting up
Gage (leg) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage, Mike Evans (hamstring), Chris Godwin (ACL) and Julio Jones (rest) all will be held out, leaving plenty of snaps for Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Cyril Grayson, among others. Gage has been out of practice for more than a week now, as has Evans.
Aug 16, 2022
Won't practice this week
Coach Todd Bowles said Tuesday that Gage (leg) will not practice this week, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Bowles said Gage and fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) will sit out this week's joint practices in Tennessee. The severity of Gage's leg injury remains undisclosed, but it's obvious the Buccaneers are prioritizing his health for Week 1, and not Saturday's upcoming preseason game against the Titans.
Aug 13, 2022
Not playing Saturday
Gage (leg) isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Fellow wide receivers Mike Evans (hamstring), Chris Godwin (knee) and Julio Jones also won't suit up in the Bucs' exhibition opener. With Tom Brady tending to a personal matter at the moment, Tampa Bay's offense won't trot out its primary skill-position talent until next Saturday at Tennessee, at the earliest.
Aug 11, 2022
Not practicing Thursday
Gage (leg) is not participating in Thursday's practice scrimmage against the Dolphins, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Todd Bowles said Gage suffered a leg injury during Wednesday's practice, per Laine, but he declined to offer further details about the wideout's health. Quarterback Tom Brady (personal) plans to remain away from the Buccaneers until after the team's Aug. 20 preseason matchup against the Titans, and wide receivers Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (ACL) are also dealing with injuries, so Tampa Bay's offensive personnel will be relatively limited at practice.
Aug 10, 2022
Limps off during scrimmage
Gage exited Wednesday's practice scrimmage against the Dolphins under his own power, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage walked with apparent discomfort off the practice field, perhaps due to a left foot or ankle issue. The severity of Gage's injury will need to be monitored, as if healthy, he looks primed for a key role in Tampa Bay's offense. The Buccaneers already have Mike Evans (hamstring) dealing with minor issue and Chris Godwin (knee) working back from an ACL tear.
Jul 31, 2022
Stellar start to camp
Gage enjoyed another productive day at training camp Saturday, recording at least five receptions, including two touchdowns, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dix notes that Gage's success hasn't just been limited to Saturday, as he's been a go-to target for Tom Brady to varying degree in each session thus far. Gage has flashed in multiple ways, including making impressive catches on crossing patterns, near the sideline and in the end zone. The arrival of Julio Jones may keep Gage as the No. 3 wideout to start the season while Chris Godwin (knee) is presumably finishing his recovery from ACL surgery, but the veteran's early chemistry with Brady still bodes very well for his chances of hitting the ground running in the Buccaneers' air attack.
Jul 27, 2022
Healthy as training camp opens
Gage, who dealt with an unspecified injury earlier in the offseason, was able to participate in the first practice of training camp Wednesday without limitations, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The offseason acquisition also got some competition for snaps and targets in the form of multi-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones, who agreed to a one-year deal with the Buccaneers on Tuesday. While the playing time matter will sort itself out throughout camp and preseason, Gage was notably at full health for Wednesday's opening session despite his prior limitations, drawing the praise of head coach Todd Bowles. "Russ looks great," said Bowles. "He came back in great shape and we're happy to have him moving."

Looks primed for key role
Quarterback Tom Brady said Thursday that Gage will play a "very important" role in Tampa Bay's offense, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage inked a three-year, $30 million dollar with the Buccaneers early on in free agency, and Brady is now talking up his involvement on "a pass-heavy offense," which seems indicative that the two have already established some chemistry. While Chris Godwin (knee) works his way back from a Week 15 ACL tear Gage stands to operate as the No. 2 wideout behind Mike Evans, a role which could certainly involve significant and high-value targets from Brady, especially if Godwin is unavailable for the early portion of the season.
Mar 15, 2022
Moving south to Tampa
The Buccaneers and Gage agreed to terms of a contract Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage is coming off back-to-back productive seasons in Atlanta in which he totaled at least 66 catches and 770 yards and exactly four touchdowns per year. He'll kick off the upcoming campaign as the No. 2 wide receiver in Tampa Bay behind Mike Evans due to Chris Godwin's ongoing recovery from a Week 15 ACL tear. Considering Godwin may not be healthy for a good portion of the season, Gage should be on the receiving end of numerous passes per game from Tom Brady.
Jan 10, 2022
Explosive performance in finale
Gage caught nine of 13 targets for 126 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Gage posted his most receptions and yards since since Week 13 (11 catches for 130 yards) and caught his third touchdown of the season -- his first since Week 15. The 25-year-old slot receiver took over as Matt Ryan's favorite target when Calvin Ridley (personal) left the team in Week 7, registering 61 receptions for 742 yards and four touchdowns in the final 12 weeks of the season. The fourth-year pro is set to become a free agent this offseason and will likely garner interest around the league after registering 1,556 yards and eight touchdowns over his last two seasons (30 games).
Jan 2, 2022
50-yard effort in loss
Gage brought in three of five targets for 50 yards in the Falcons' 29-15 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage co-led the Falcons in receptions on a very modest day for the Atlanta's passing attack while checking in second in receiving yardage to Kyle Pitts. The veteran wideout now has at least 50 receiving yards in five of the last six games going into the Week 18 finale versus the Saints.
Dec 26, 2021
Four catches in modest performance
Gage brought in four of five targets for 39 yards in the Falcons' 20-16 win over the Lions. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The veteran gave way to Kyle Pitts as the linchpin of the pass-catching corps for the week, but Gage still checked as a distant runner-up to the rookie tight end in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Gage has no fewer than four catches in six consecutive games going into a Week 17 road matchup agains the Bills.
Dec 19, 2021
Stays hot with third TD this year
Gage had eight receptions (11 targets) for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-13 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Gage continued his recent run of success with another strong fantasy outing. The veteran wideout is averaging 7.3 receptions and 86.8 receiving yards with two total touchdowns over the last four weeks, establishing himself as Atlanta's top receiving option after Calvin Ridley's (personal) mid-season departure. Gage will look to keep this hot streak rolling against the Lions next Sunday.
Dec 12, 2021
Team leader in receiving yards
Gage secured four of six targets for 64 yards in the Falcons' 29-21 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage's receiving yardage total paced the Falcons on the afternoon and served as his fourth straight useful fantasy performance. The veteran's numbers were nowhere near as spectacular as his Week 13 output of 11 receptions for 130 yards, but he's now logged at least six targets in four straight contests and at least 62 receiving yards in three consecutive. Gage's next opportunity to build on his encouraging run comes in Week 15 against the 49ers on the road.
Dec 5, 2021
Standout effort in loss
Gage brought in 11 of 12 targets for 130 yards in the Falcons' 30-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran lit up his old team repeatedly throughout the afternoon, leading to career-best reception and receiving yardage totals. Gage has been productive in multiple games this season, but he's also had a trio of catchless efforts that help render him one of the more unpredictable wideouts around the league. Nevertheless, Gage has now posted at least five grabs in three consecutive contests, giving him plenty of momentum ahead of a Week 14 visit to the Panthers for an NFC South clash.
Nov 28, 2021
Productive in Week 12 win
Gage caught six of seven targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Gage put Atlanta ahead 21-3 with a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter, doubling his season touchdown total. He also led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards. If Calvin Ridley (personal) remains on the reserve/non-football injury list, Gage will continue to work as the Falcons' de facto No. 1 wide receiver in Week 13 against the Buccaneers.
Nov 18, 2021
Paces pass catchers in loss
Gage brought in five of eight targets for 49 yards in the Falcons' 25-0 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Gage led the Falcons in receptions, receiving yards and targets, although considering the team netted all of 125 passing yards, those numbers didn't add up to much from a fantasy perspective. The veteran possession receiver was at least able to bounce back from his second catchless effort over the previous three games in Week 10, sending him into a favorable Week 12 road battle against the Jaguars a week from Sunday with some momentum.
Nov 14, 2021
No receptions in blowout loss
Gage did not record a reception on three targets in Sunday's 43-3 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Gage appeared to be on pace for a solid game when he made an impressive leaping catch on a deep ball in the first quarter, but Dallas challenged the ruling and the potential big play was overturned as the ball slightly grazed the turf. The 25-year-old only saw two more targets before the Falcons mailed it in for what turned out to be a blowout loss. Olamide Zaccheaus had two receptions for 22 yards on seven targets, so Gage's inconsistent play this year may have moved him down the target pecking order in Atlanta. He will try to get back on track against a tough Patriots defense this upcoming Thursday.
Nov 7, 2021
Seven catches in Week 9 win
Gage caught seven of eight targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 27-25 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Gage is working as Atlanta's top option at wide receiver with Calving Ridley on the non-football injury list. He caught all six of his first-half targets for 55 yards but didn't play much of a role in the second half, as slot receiver Olamide Zaccheaus (two touchdowns) and the versatile Cordarrelle Patterson (126 receiving yards) led the Falcons' passing attack. Gage set a season high in catches here and has eclipsed 60 receiving yards twice in his last three games heading into a Week 10 matchup with the Cowboys.
Nov 4, 2021
In clear for Week 9
Gage (groin) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was limited by the groin injury in the Falcons' first Week 9 practice Wednesday, but the team never seemed to have much concern about his health heading into Sunday's game in New Orleans. His ability to take every rep Thursday clears the way for him to suit up this weekend, when Gage should profile as one of the top options in the passing game sans Calvin Ridley (personal), who will remain out for a second straight contest while he takes time away from football to focus on his mental health. Ridley's absence didn't pay any immediate dividends for Gage in the Falcons' Week 8 loss to the Panthers; despite playing 34 of the team's 50 offensive snaps (68 percent), the slot receiver failed to draw a single target.
Nov 3, 2021
Dealing with groin issue
Gage was limited at Wednesday's practice by a groin injury, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage and Tajae Sharpe led Falcons wide receivers with respective 68 percent snap shares this past Sunday against the Panthers without Calvin Ridley, who missed his second game of the season due to personal reasons. The result was no targets for Gage, while Sharpe paced Atlanta with 58 yards receiving on five catches and six targets. Now, Gage is tending to a health concern, which could inhibit his viability in the short term.
Nov 1, 2021
Not targeted in loss
Gage played 36 offensive snaps but didn't record any stats during the Falcons' 19-13 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage came off a three-game absence to produce a solid performance (four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown) against the Dolphins in Week 7. However, in Week 8, he tied Tajee Sharp with 36 offensive snaps -- most among wideouts -- but was held without a target. With Calvin Ridley (personal) out for an unspecified amount of time, Gage is expected to see high snap totals, but his production is likely to be sporadic.
Oct 24, 2021
Scores in return from injury
Gage (ankle) brought in four of six targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 30-28 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Gage made a splashy return from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury, sharing runner-up status in receptions and coming in second in receiving yardage on the day for the Falcons. Gage also found the end zone for the first time this season on a 49-yard scoring grab that appeared to unfold due to a blown coverage early in the third quarter. Now apparently back to full health, Gage will look to continue serving as a dependable No. 2 receiving option for Matt Ryan in a Week 8 divisional home matchup against the Panthers.
Oct 20, 2021
Avoids injury report
Gage (ankle) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage hasn't played since Week 2 due to an ankle injury, but due to a Week 6 bye for the Falcons it appears that he'll only miss three games as a result. He wasn't very efficient in his two appearances this season, with five catches (on nine targets) for 28 yards. Gage will join Calvin Ridley in the lineup Sunday at Miami after the latter missed Atlanta's last game in London due to a personal issue.
Oct 18, 2021
Returns to practice Monday
Gage (ankle) was back at practice Monday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the last three games with an ankle injury, but it appears the bye week was beneficial for him, as he has returned to practice ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins. Matt Ryan has relied heavily on his running backs and tight ends with Gage and Calvin Ridley (personal) sidelined, but he may have his top two wideouts available for the first time since Week 2. Gage caught five of seven targets for 28 yards during his last healthy outing.
Oct 7, 2021
Won't play Sunday
Gage (ankle) won't travel to London for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow wide receiver Calvin Ridley (personal), which sets the stage for Olamide Zaccheaus and Tajae Sharpe to lead the Falcons' Week 5 WR corps, with Christian Blake and Frank Darby in reserve.
Oct 7, 2021
Not practicing Thursday
Gage (ankle) wasn't present for the open portion of Thursday's practice and is expected to go down as a non-participant on the Falcons' official report, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With back-to-back absences at practice to begin Week 5 prep, Gage is trending toward missing a third straight contest Sunday against the Jets. While Gage was out the past two weeks, Olamide Zaccheaus was the primary beneficiary for added reps at receiver, while Hayden Hurst also benefited with head coach Arthur Smith using more two tight end sets featuring Hurst and Kyle Pitts.
Oct 6, 2021
Misses practice again
Gage (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He's in danger of missing a third straight game when the Falcons take on the Jets on Sunday. Olamide Zaccheaus has been filling in as the No. 2 receiver for Atlanta.
Oct 1, 2021
Ruled out again
Gage (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Washington, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though he hasn't been placed on injured reserve, Gage appears in danger of missing three or more games. He's now missed two in a row, and hasn't practice at all during that team. Last week, Olamide Zaccheaus filled in as Atlanta's No. 2 receiver, catching three of six targets for 32 yards and a TD while playing 69 percent of snaps in a win over the Giants.
Sep 30, 2021
Not yet back practicing
Gage (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After the ankle injury kept him from playing in the Week 3 win over the Giants, Gage remains a spectator as the Falcons prepare for Sunday's matchup with Washington. The slot receiver will likely need to turn in a full practice Friday to have a good shot at suiting up this weekend.
Sep 29, 2021
Still not practicing
Gage (ankle) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage has had a disappointing start to the campaign, following up a catch-less season opener by injuring his ankle Week 2, when he hauled in five of seven passes for 28 yards. He likely will need to get on the practice field in some capacity to be considered a candidate to return to action. While Gage remains sidelined, Olamide Zaccheaus and Tajae Sharpe figure to have larger roles in the Falcons offense.
Sep 24, 2021
Ruled out for Week 3
Gage (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at the Giants, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was injured during the Week 2 loss to Tampa and didn't practice at all this week. He's been targeted just nine times on 57 routes this year, catching five passes for 28 yards while playing 60.4 percent of snaps. Gage's absence should free up more playing time for Olamide Zaccheaus -- and possibly Christian Blake or Tajae Sharpe -- but none is likely to see a high volume of targets in a struggling Atlanta offense that has largely focused on Calvin Ridley, Kyle Pitts and the running backs so far.
Sep 24, 2021
Not spotted at Friday's practice
Gage (ankle) wasn't seen during the early portions of Friday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday due to the ankle injury, and it appears he's headed for another absence Friday. The 25-year-old's availability for Sunday's matchup with the Giants is severely in question.
Sep 23, 2021
DNP on Thursday
Gage (ankle) was held out of practice Thursday, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage has yet to take the practice field this week as he tends to an ankle injury stemming from Week 2. Friday's session and subsequent injury report from the team will be telling for the fourth-year wide receiver's availability for Sunday road game against the Giants. If Gage is sidelined or limited this weekend, Olamide Zaccheaus, Tajae Sharpe and Christian Blake are on hand to fill in next to Calvin Ridley.
Sep 23, 2021
Misses another practice
Gage (ankle) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice and is set to go down as a non-participant on the Falcons' official report, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage's ankle injury also kept him from practicing Wednesday, so he'll likely need to get on the field in some capacity Friday to avoid being ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants. If Gage ends up sitting out the Week 3 matchup, Tajae Sharpe could be the next man up to step in as Atlanta's top option out of the slot.
Sep 22, 2021
No practice reps Wednesday
Gage (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Arthur Smith told Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com on Wednesday that Gage will be quite limited this week due to the ankle injury he suffered Week 2 in Tampa Bay, but "there's always a chance" the wide receiver does enough to play Sunday against the Giants in New York. Meanwhile, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network termed Gage week-to-week due to his injury, with Friday appearing to be the day that he'll test out his ankle. If Gage requires an absence Week 3, he'll cede reps at wide receiver to Olamide Zaccheaus, Tajae Sharpe and Christian Blake next to the team's No. 1 target Calvin Ridley.
Sep 22, 2021
Dealing with ankle issue
Coach Arthur Smith noted Wednesday that Gage (ankle) would be very limited at practice this week, Matt Urben of the USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
At this stage, Gage looks pretty iffy for Sunday's game against the Giants. If he's unavailable this weekend, added Week 3 snaps/targets alongside Calvin Ridley would be available for Olamide Zaccheaus, Christian Blake and Tajae Sharpe.
Sep 20, 2021
Just 28 yards in Week 2
Gage caught five of seven targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 48-25 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Gage was in and out of the game due to an ankle injury, and the injury may have played a role in his inability to create separation downfield; his longest gain went for just eight yards. Atlanta's new No. 2 wide receiver following the offseason departure of Julio Jones has struggled to take advantage of his prominent role thus far, as quarterback Matt Ryan has spread the ball out to tight ends and running backs behind top wideout Calvin Ridley. Gage will look to put his slow start behind him on the road against the Giants in Week 3.
Sep 19, 2021
Back in Sunday's contest
Gage (ankle) returned to Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage was sidelined for a spell with an ankle injury in the second quarter, but he was able to return after halftime. He'll look to build upon his two catches for 10 yards prior to his exit.
Sep 19, 2021
Picks up ankle injury
Gage suffered an ankle injury during the second quarter of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit, Gage had hauled in both of his targets for 10 yards. The receptions marked his first two of the campaign, after he was unable to haul in either of his two targets Week 1 against the Eagles. As long as Gage is sidelined, Olamide Zaccheaus, Tajae Sharpe and Christian Blake will be the candidates for reps at wide receiver behind clear No. 1 WR Calvin Ridley.
Sep 13, 2021
Goose egg in Week 1
Gage failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 32-6 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Gage was far from the only Falcons player who struggled in the opener, as Atlanta failed to get into the end zone offensively and gave up at least a touchdown in every quarter to boot. On the bright side, Gage is clearly locked in as the team's No. 2 receiver -- he played 49 of 72 offensive snaps, trailing only Calvin Ridley (61) while no other wide receiver played more than 19. Gage, along with the rest of the Falcons, will look to pick things up in Tampa Bay in Week 2.
Aug 21, 2021
Sits out Saturday against Dolphins
Gage did not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons sat a number of players from their wide receiver corps, including Calvin Ridley. After the departure of Julio Jones, Gage figures to serve as the team's second receiver. Gage produced 72 receptions for 786 yards and four touchdowns in 2020 and could see more volume in 2021. However, he's not much of a downfield threat, as he averaged only 7.2 yards per target.
Jun 10, 2021
Set for starting role
Gage will likely find himself in a key role in the passing game in 2021 following the departure of Julio Jones, Scott Blair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage broke out for a career-best 72 catches for 786 yards and four touchdowns on 109 targets in 2020, all career-best outputs through three seasons. He could have a chance to surpass those outputs as a full-time starter this season alongside Calvin Ridley, although the addition of Kyle Pitts figures to draw some targets away from the wide receiver position.
Jan 3, 2021
Lights up Bucs in finale
Gage corralled nine of his 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 44-27 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Calvin Ridley outpaced Gage by one in the targets department, but the former LSU Tiger Gage prevailed over his Crimson Tide teammate in establishing team-highs in both catches and receiving yards. Gage proved himself to be a productive option with Julio Jones (hamstring) unavailable for the final quarter of the regular season, totaling 23 catches for 264 yards and two receiving TDs while adding a 39-yard passing score to Ridley during a Week 14 loss to the Chargers. Gage's season-long totals of 72 receptions, 786 yards and five total TDs all represent career bests as he enters his fourth year under contract with the Falcons in 2021.
Dec 28, 2020
Held to 23 receiving yards
Gage secured four of five targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 17-14 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Gage equaled Hayden Hurst for second in targets behind Calvin Ridley's team high of nine, but he was held under 50 receiving yards for the first time over his past four outings. The 24-year-old has established himself as a high-floor fantasy option of late with four or more catches in four straight games, adding two receiving scores and a 39-yard passing touchdown between Weeks 13 and 15. Sunday's outing, however, represented his second-lowest receiving total since Week 5. The Falcons will now face off against the Buccaneers to close out 2020, an opponent against whom Gage accumulated five catches for 68 yards and a TD when the rivals last played Dec. 20.
Dec 20, 2020
Notches TD in big first-half effort
Gage caught five of 10 targets for 68 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Gage delivered an impactful opening drive, pulling in a 27-yard catch on a deep post before notching his fourth score of the season by virtue of a five-yard catch the very next play. The third-year wideout now finds himself in the midst of a three-game scoring streak after throwing a 39-yard TD to Calvin Ridley during last Sunday's loss to the Chargers. With seven or more targets in each of his past three appearances, Gage's anticipated volume for Week 16 may largely hinge on whether Julio Jones (hamstring) can return to the lineup.
Dec 13, 2020
Contributes in multiple facets
Gage secured five of seven targets for 82 yards, adding a 39-yard touchdown pass during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Gage logged four-plus receptions and 50 or more receiving yards for a second consecutive outing, but his long TD pass to Calvin Ridley was undoubtedly a crucial addition to his output. Gadget-play TDs such as these may come few and far between for Gage, but regardless of the route taken, the 24-year-old delivered for those who relied on him in fantasy playoff matchups. A Week 15 matchup against Tampa Bay provides for an encouraging forecast, as the Buccaneers have surrendered the ninth-most receiving yards to opposing WRs.
Dec 6, 2020
Secures Atlanta's lone receiving TD
Gage hauled in four of eight targets for 51 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 21-16 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Julio Jones' return to the lineup from a hamstring injury did not deplete Gage's role, as the third-year man logged more targets, receptions and receiving yards than he did Week 12 against the Raiders while Jones was inactive. Gage also secured his first receiving TD since Week 2, bringing an end to the 24-year-old's nine-game scoring drought. With eight-plus targets in two of his past three outings, he remains the third WR option for the Falcons heading into a Week 14 matchup at the Chargers.
Nov 30, 2020
Hauls in three passes
Gage corralled three of his five targets for 34 receiving yards during Sunday's 43-6 win against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Gage earned his fourth start of the 2020 campaign while Julio Jones (hamstring) missed Atlanta's Week 12 matchup because of injury. The third-year wideout from LSU finished tied for third on the team in targets behind Calvin Ridley (nine) and Hayden Hurst (eight), but he was held under 35 receiving yards for the third time in his past four outings. If Jones is able to make it back for a Week 13 matchup against the Saints, Gage would slide back to the No. 3 position in the receiving corps. He reeled in seven of a season-high 12 targets for 58 receiving yards when the Falcons and Saints last met Nov. 22.
Nov 23, 2020
Second-leading receiver in loss
Gage caught seven of a team-high 12 targets for 58 receiving yards during Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
With Julio Jones beleaguered by a hamstring issue from the second quarter on, missing a chunk of second-half action in the process, Gage reached the double-digit threshold in targets for the first time since Week 1. The LSU product started the season promisingly by recording 15 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown Weeks 1 and 2, but entering Sunday he had averaged just 31.3 receiving yards per game with zero scores in seven appearances since. Gage has garnered six-plus targets in three of his past four games as the Falcons prepare to host Las Vegas in Week 12.
Nov 10, 2020
Two catches in win over Broncos
Gage secured two of his six targets for 11 receiving yards during Sunday's 34-27 win against Denver.
ANALYSIS
Gage attracted six-plus targets for the second time in three weeks as Calvin Ridley (foot) sat Week 9 against the Broncos, though he was only able to convert a third of his looks into receptions. Atlanta boasts the third-most prolific passing offense in the NFL thus far in 2020, but Gage possesses just two outings of more than 26 receiving yards since Week 2. The emergence of Olamide Zaccheaus, who recorded four receptions, 103 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos, has potential to mitigate Gage's involvement as the second half of the regular season progresses.
Nov 6, 2020
Cleared for Week 9
Gage (shoulder/knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Broncos, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage closed out the week with a full practice, following limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. The Falcons should have some targets up for grabs if Calvin Ridley (foot) isn't able to play, but Ridley's absence won't necessarily impact the slot-based Gage when it comes to playing time. Christian Blake replaced Ridley last week.
Nov 5, 2020
Limited at practice Thursday
Gage (shoulder/knee) was limited at Thursday's practice, Tori McElhaney of The Athletic reports
ANALYSIS
Gage has contended with a number of injuries this season, including a concussion and the aforementioned shoulder and knee issues. He's still managed to play at least 50 percent of the snaps on offense in six of eight games, and he may be called upon for more this Sunday against the Broncos with Calvin Ridley unable to practice due to a mid-foot sprain. Having said that, Gage will need to get past his own injury first in order to do so.
Nov 4, 2020
Puts in limited practice
Gage (shoulder/knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Calvin Ridley was unable to practice due to a mid-foot sprain suffered last Thursday at Carolina, a development that may open up some reps for Gage if the former is forced to miss some time. Since opening the season with 15 catches (on 21 targets) for 160 yards and one TD in the first two games, Gage has only surpassed 50 receiving yards in four of the last six contests. Assuming he can get past his own health concerns, he'll look to get back on track Sunday against the Broncos.
Oct 30, 2020
Quiet night in win over Panthers
Gage reeled in two of his three targets for 25 receiving yards during Thursday's 25-17 win against Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Gage had gotten on track Weeks 6 and 7 against Minnesota and Detroit by producing 10 combined receptions for 119 yards, but with a quiet performance Thursday night the third-year receiver had now been held under 30 receiving yards in four of his past six outings. Calvin Ridley (ankle) had to exit the divisional win midway through the second quarter due to injury, but thankfully X-rays have come back negative. If Ridley's subsequent MRI has a less favorable outcome, however, Gage would likely be in line for an enhanced workload Week 9 against the 2-4 Broncos.
Oct 28, 2020
Set to play Thursday
Gage (knee) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game in Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Gage logged a limited offensive snap count (32 percent) during Sunday's loss to the Lions, marking the second time in seven contests in which he didn't earn at least 60 percent. Still, he made an impression in the box score, with six receptions (on seven targets) for 54 yards. Gage's practice reps were capped Monday through Wednesday due to a knee injury stemming from Week 7, so it remains to be seen if a similar fate awaits him Thursday.
Oct 27, 2020
Activity limited in practice
Gage (knee) was a limited participant during Tuesday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage's knee issue resulted in his activity being restricted for the second straight day, but the Falcons thus far haven't suggested that his availability for Thursday's game against the Panthers is in any peril. Though the injury played a part in Gage playing only 32 percent of the offensive snaps in the Falcons' Week 7 loss to the Lions, the slot specialist still managed six receptions for 54 yards on seven targets.

Gage (knee) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimation, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage left Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Lions for a spell, but was able to return to action. In the process, he ended up hauling in six of his seven targets for 54 yards, while logging 24 of a possible 75 snaps on offense. We'll get a better idea of Gage's status for Thursday night's game against the Panthers once the Falcons take the practice field Tuesday.

Another solid effort in Week 7
Gage caught six of his seven targets for 54 receiving yards during Sunday's 23-22 loss to Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Julio Jones led the way for Atlanta with nine targets, but Gage landed in a three-place tie for second in that department alongside Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst. Gage managed just two receptions and 21.3 receiving yards per game Weeks 3 through 5, but he's rebounded over his past two appearances by producing 10 combined receptions for 119 yards. Operating within an Atlanta passing attack that has thrown the ball at least 36 times in every game this season, Gage remains a viable deep-league fantasy play as the No. 3 WR option. His Week 8 matchup is less than enticing however, as he'll face a Panthers defense Thursday night that has surrendered the third-fewest receiving yards to opposing wideouts.

Back in action
Gage (knee) returned to Sunday's game against the Lions, Jeff Schultz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage suffered the knee injury on the first offensive drive but returned to action in the third quarter. He'll slot in as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley for the remainder of the game.
Oct 25, 2020
Heads to locker room
Gage was forced out of Sunday's game versus the Lions with a knee injury, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage rolled up awkwardly on his own leg on the Falcons' first offensive drive, but he was able to walk under his own power to the locker room. Olamide Zaccheaus is expected to operate as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley for the time being.
Oct 19, 2020
Flashes in Sunday's win
Gage corralled all four of his targets for 65 receiving yards during Sunday's 40-23 win against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The third-year wideout produced 15 receptions, 160 receiving yards and a touchdown during the first two weeks of the season, but he fell into a slump over his subsequent three outings. Gage exited the Falcons' Week 3 loss because of a head injury after fielding just 12 offensive snaps, and he managed just four combined receptions for 38 yards in Week 4 and 5 outings against Green Bay and Carolina. The 24-year-old bounced back in a big way against Minnesota's injury-depleted secondary, logging the fourth-best receiving total of his 37-game career. Upcoming next, Gage will face a Detroit defense that held Jacksonville to 5.1 yards per pass attempt during a Week 6 win.

Ready for Sunday
Gage (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Gage figures to handle his usual role in the slot, where the Vikings have been using rookie first-round pick Jeff Gladney in recent weeks. With Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley both cleared to play, Gage is no better than third in the pecking order for targets, though it could work in his favor if the Falcons end up chasing a deficit and facing conservative coverage schemes that make it easier to throw short passes.
Oct 15, 2020
Limited in practice Thursday
Gage (shoulder) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage received 62 percent of the snaps on offense during a Week 5 loss to the Panthers, but the workload didn't show up in the box score, as he managed two catches (on five targets) for 16 yards. The performance occurred in the midst of Julio Jones (hamstring) sitting out, so Gage himself may have been inhibited by his shoulder injury. Jones has been listed as a DNP this week, and if the absence continues into Sunday's game in Minnesota, Gage could be in line for a number of targets, assuming he's active.
Oct 14, 2020
Nursing shoulder injury
Gage (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage only caught two of five targets for 16 yards during Sunday's loss to the Panthers, while playing a season-low 62 percent of snaps (not counting Week 3, when a concussion forced him out). It appears as though the slot specialist's struggles may have been at least partially to blame on a shoulder injury, though it's encouraging that he wasn't forced to miss practice entirely. Gage will work to shed his injury designation and get fully healthy in time to face the Vikings in Week 6.
Oct 12, 2020
Shut down by Panthers
Gage caught two of his five targets for 16 receiving yards during Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The LSU product burst onto the scene at the start of 2020 with 15 receptions, 160 yards and a touchdown between Weeks 1 and 2, but he has averaged just two catches and 21.3 receiving yards per game in three appearances since. Gage suffered a concussion during Atlanta's loss to Chicago and was limited to just 12 offensive snaps in Week 3, but he has been active for every game this season. He remains listed without an injury designation heading into a Week 6 showdown against a Vikings defense that allowed 217 receiving yards and three receiving TDs to Seattle on Sunday night.
Oct 6, 2020
Quiet night in Green Bay
Gage hauled in two of his three targets for 22 receiving yards during Monday's 30-16 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Perhaps because he exited Atlanta's Week 3 loss to Chicago with a concussion, the third-year receiver was eased back into the mix against Green Bay on Monday night. That may explain the fact that Olamide Zaccheaus, who is typically No. 4 on the WR depth chart, tripled Gage in targets Week 4. With Julio Jones (hamstring) having exited Monday's contest because of injury, Gage may remain a top two or three wideout option for the Falcons heading into a matchup against Carolina's seventh-ranked pass defense
Oct 3, 2020
All set for Monday
Gage (concussion) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's matchup against the Packers, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
This reinforces Gage's practice status over the past two days after the wide receiver left the Week 4 contest early with a concussion. Both Calvin Ridley (ankle/calf) and Julio Jones (hamstring) were listed as limited participants in Saturday's practice, although the fact both are considered questionable for Monday bodes well for the Falcons having their full arsenal available in the prime-time matchup.
Oct 2, 2020
Upgrades to full practice Friday
Gage (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons haven't yet announced that Gage has cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol, but it appears as though he's at least progressed to the later stages. Julio Jones (hamstring) and Calvin Ridley (ankle/calf) were both limited participants in Friday's practice, but it looks as though all three starting wideouts have a fair shot at getting healthy enough to suit up in Green Bay on Monday. Of course, Gage will need to attain full medical clearance before he's able to retake the field.
Oct 1, 2020
Limited in first Week 4 practice
Gage (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage exited the Falcons' 30-26 loss to the Bears over the weekend with the head injury, but his presence on the field in any capacity four days later indicates that he's made some progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. Along with Gage, fellow starting wideouts Julio Jones (hamstring, limited participant) and Calvin Ridley (ankle, non-participant) were on the Falcons' initial Week 4 injury report, but all three seemingly have realistic hopes of gaining clearance for Monday's game against the Packers.
Sep 27, 2020
Done for day
Gage had been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game versus the Bears due to a head injury, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
While it hasn't been confirmed, Gage is expected to have a concussion. With Julio Jones (hamstring) already sidelined, Christian Blake, Olamide Zaccheaus and Brandon Powell should all handle a decent workload the rest of the game.
Sep 27, 2020
Exits Sunday's game
Gage is being evaluated for a possible head injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bears, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
With Gage iffy to return and Julio Jones (hamstring) already inactive, the Falcons' top options at wideout are currently Calvin Ridley, Christian Blake and Olamide Zaccheaus.
Sep 20, 2020
Keeps momentum going Week 2
Gage caught six of his nine targets for 46 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 40-39 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
If Gage's involvement over the latter stages of 2019 wasn't convincing enough to consider him a legitimate fantasy pickup in drafts, certainly Weeks 1 and 2 have gone a long way towards changing that stance. Gage attracted eight targets per game Weeks 12 through 17 last year, though part of that can be explained away by the fact that Calvin Ridley missed three games during that span with a hip injury. Of course, with Ridley back in the lineup to kick off the 2020 campaign Gage is continuing to be a fantasy presence, having accumulated an outstanding 21 targets over the first two weeks of the year, and translating those opportunities into 15 catches, 160 receiving yards, and a touchdown. The third-year receiver now draws a matchup against a Bears defense that refused to allow a single Giants wideout to eclipse 50 yards Sunday.
Sep 13, 2020
Huge Week 1 against Seattle
Gage corralled nine of 12 targets for a career-high 114 receiving yards during Sunday's 38-25 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Gage picked up right where he left off at the tail-end of 2019 when he filled in as the No. 2 option at wide receiver, as Calvin Ridley missed three games with an abdomen injury. The former LSU Tiger averaged eight targets per game between Weeks 12 and 17 last year, and he demonstrated a high PPR floor during that span in collecting 32 total catches. Gage remains with just one touchdown on 68 offensive touches for his career, but as long as he is the No. 3 receiver in Atlanta's passing game he will remain fantasy relevant. The 24-year-old projects to be a popular waiver-wire pickup based on both opportunity and talent, as he prepares for a Week 2 matchup against the Cowboys.
Sep 13, 2020
Returns to Sunday's game
Gage (head) was cleared to return to Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage left briefly to be examined after a hard hit from Jamal Adams in the first half, but the receiver apparently cleared concussion protocol and returned to the game.
Sep 13, 2020
Having head examined
Gage left Sunday's game against the Seahawks to be evaluated for a head injury, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Late in the first half, Gage was banged-up and made a visit to the sideline tent, per Jason Butt of The Athletic. Considering a head injury was noted, Gage may be going through the concussion protocol to determine whether a return is possible. If he's unable to reenter the game, he'll finish Week 1 with five catches for 54 yards.

Puts in full practice Thursday
Gage (groin) practiced fully Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed some time recently due to a groin injury, including being listed as limited at Wednesday's session, but the Falcons allowed to handle every rep Thursday. Now ready to face the Seahawks on Sunday, he slot in as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Sep 9, 2020
Tending to groin issue
Gage was limited at Wednesday's practice by a groin injury, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage missed the Falcons' scrimmage last Thursday but was able to get back on the field for Monday's sessions. While he did the same Wednesday, he clearly still has some limitations. Fortunately, he's made appearances in back-to-back practices and had two more chances to get back to full, at which point the team will peg his odds to suit up Sunday versus the Seahawks. If he plays, Gage will serve as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Sep 7, 2020
Returns to practice Monday
Gage (undisclosed) participated in Monday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if Gage practiced at full speed, but there doesn't seem to be much concern about his availability for Week 1 versus Seattle, and there will be more clarification when the first official injury report is released Wednesday. The 24-year-old is expected to lock down the No. 3 receiver role to begin the year and build off last year's 49-446-1 line.
Jul 17, 2020
Expected to secure No. 3 WR role
Gage is the clear favorite to serve as Atlanta's No. 3 wide receiver option during 2020, Matthew Tabeek of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The offseason arrival of 2016 first-round draft choice Laquon Treadwell provides some competition to Gage, but the 24-year-old seems to be coming into his own, and he will be difficult for the newcomer Treadwell to supplant. Gage had five-plus catches in five of his final six outings to wrap up 2019, proving himself capable of replacing the recently-traded Mohamed Sanu. If able to fend off Treadwell for the job during training camp, Gage will have an opportunity to build upon the strong second half he put forth as an NFL sophomore while working behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley as the third option at wide receiver.
Apr 26, 2020
Beneficiary of draft weekend
Gage remains well-positioned to serve as the Falcons' slot receiver after Atlanta went without drafting a single wideout during the 2020 NFL Draft, Mike Clay of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As Clay noted, during weeks in which both Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones were active last season, Gage saw his target share vault to 16 percent after Mohamed Sanu's Oct. 22 trade to New England. As the No. 4 option at receiver Weeks 1 through 7, Gage accounted for just four combined catches and 44 yards, but from Week 8 to the end of the regular season, he averaged a respectable five catches and 44.7 yards per game. His involvement transferred from obsolete to significant as result of Sanu's departure, and in the interim, nothing has changed at the position group that would stymie Gage's progression. He appears to be the No. 3 option at receiver for an offense that last year ranked behind only Tampa Bay and Dallas in passing yards per game (294.6).
Sep 4, 2019
Absent from injury report
Gage (hip) is not listed on Atlanta's injury report Wednesday, William McFadden of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage suffered a hip injury during a preseason contest against the Jets. He's now managed to get fully healthy and appears on track for his usual role as a special-teams contributor and depth wideout Week 1.
Aug 22, 2019
Sitting Thursday
Gage will miss Thursday's preseason contest against Washington with a hip injury, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage originally sustained the injury in last week's matchup with the Jets, although head coach Dan Quinn said the 23-year-old avoided any structural damage. It's still seemingly unclear how serious the injury is or how much longer Gage will have to rest, but Justin Hardy and Devin Gray will each likely see more work in the meantime.
Aug 15, 2019
Leaves game with hip injury
Gage was forced out of Thursday's preseason matchup with the Jets due to a hip injury, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gage managed to corral one catch for 11 yards on two targets before having to leave the game. It's unclear how serious the injury is. The timing of the injury is certainly unfortunate, as the 23-year-old was trying to build momentum off an impressive performance against the Dolphins last week. With Gage sidelined, Justin Hardy and Devin Gray figure to see some extra reps.
