Moved to reserve/PUP list
The Texans placed Dell (knee) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Dell will be required to miss a minimum prerequisite of four regular-season games after having been placed on the reserve/PUP list, though it remains to be see exactly when -- if at all -- Houston expects him to be ready to resume practicing this season. The 2023 third-round pick is recovering from a severe injury sustained last December. Nico Collins and Christian Kirk will kick off the 2025 campaign as C.J. Stroud's clear top two wide receivers, while rookies Jayden Higgens and Jaylin Noel compete for No. 3 reps.

No timetable for return
GM Nick Caserio acknowledged Wednesday that there's no timetable for the return of Dell (knee), who is on the active/physically unable to perform list, Jonathan M. Alexander of The Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
While at this stage, Caserio hasn't completely ruled out the possibility that Dell could return at some point this season, it's clear that the wideout -- who suffered a significant knee injury last December -- still has a way to go in his recovery process. With that in mind, Caserio noted that Dell is "in the building every day. He's working really hard, but we're not going to put a timetable on anything," a notion echoed by coach DeMeco Ryans, who added that the 2023 third-rounder is "crushing the rehab." With Dell likely to miss a good portion of the coming season, the Texans' top healthy veteran wide receivers are Nico Collins and Christian Kirk, with 2025 draftees Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel also in the mix to carve out steady roles in the team's passing attack.
Jul 23, 2025
Placed on PUP
The Texans placed Dell (knee) on the Physically Unable to Perform list for the start of training camp, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell is unlikely to participate this summer, coming back from MCL, LCL and ACL tears suffered Week 16 of last season. He'll likely miss a good chunk of the upcoming regular season, if not all of it. Dell had multiple surgeries this offseason, with the first in mid-January and the most recent in early March.
May 5, 2025
Progressing but return timeline TBD
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans reiterated Monday that Dell (knee) remains without a timetable for return, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson reports that Dell is making "steady and impressive progress with major steps taken" following a pair of surgeries to repair the MCL, LCL and ACL in his left knee after he was injured in the Texans' Week 16 loss to the Chiefs. There have been rumblings that Dell could miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season. In an effort to stabilize the wide receiver position following Dell's serious injury and the departure of Stefon Diggs in free agency, the Texans acquired Christian Kirk and then used second- and third-round picks on Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, respectively.

Undergoing second surgery
Dell is scheduled to undergo a second procedure to repair multiple torn ligaments in his left knee Wednesday, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell underwent his initial surgery Jan. 15, the first of what was expected to be multiple procedures necessary to address the knee dislocation, torn ACL, LCL, MCL, and meniscus damage he sustained Dec. 21 while catching a touchdown pass versus Kansas City. Wednesday's surgery will reportedly be on Dell's ACL. Head coach DeMeco Ryans said last week at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine that Dell is "headed in the right direction with the recovery" but noted that it's "too soon" too project the extent of Dell's potential contributions for the 2025 campaign. Given the severity of Dell's injuries, it wouldn't be surprising if he missed a majority, if not the entirety, of the upcoming season. Across 14 regular-season appearances in 2024, Dell put up a 51-667-3 receiving line on 81 targets.
Jan 14, 2025
Will need multiple knee surgeries
Dell is expected to require multiple surgeries to address damage to his left knee, the first of which he's scheduled to undergo Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old will face a long road back from the severe season-ending knee injury he sustained in the Texans' Dec. 21 loss to the Chiefs. In addition to tearing the ACL, MCL and LCL in his knee, Dell also dislocated the knee and suffered damage to his meniscus. Given the nature of the injury and the multiple surgeries he'll require to repair his knee, Dell's recovery will likely extend into the 2025 season and potentially keep him sidelined for the entire campaign. The Texans may have a clearer timeline for Dell's potential return by the start of training camp, when he'll be at least a few months removed from all of his procedures. Dell concluded his second NFL season with 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns on 81 targets over 14 games.
Dec 23, 2024
Placed on IR
Dell (knee) has been placed on IR by the Texans, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach DeMeco Ryans noted Monday that Dell suffered a torn ACL and dislocated kneecap in Saturday's loss to the Chiefs, per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN. The report also relays that Ryans added that there are "other things" Dell will need to get repaired when he undergoes surgery to address his significant injury. The 2023 third-rounder thus faces a lengthy recovery period, and in his absence, Nico Collins, John Metchie, Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and newcomer Diontae Johnson are in line to lead the Texans wideout corps going forward.
Dec 23, 2024
Out for the year
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that Dell (knee) will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL and dislocated kneecap in his left knee, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell will miss the remainder of his Year 2 campaign due to a pair of severe injuries sustained during Saturday's loss to the Chiefs, which he suffered while hauling in a 30-yard touchdown from QB C.J. Stroud in the third quarter. The severity of Dell's injuries required that he carted off the field and transported to a local hospital. Expect Houston to officially place Dell on IR in the near future, and for him to undergo surgery to begin his recovery process. John Metchie (shoulder), Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson will now be called upon to step up at wide receiver behind Nico Collins.
Dec 21, 2024
Dislocates kneecap Saturday
Dell suffered an apparent dislocated kneecap in his left leg during Saturday's loss at Kansas City, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell was injured as he reeled in a 30-yard touchdown from QB C.J. Stroud in the middle of the third quarter. He remained on the turf for some time as medical staff immobilized his left leg in an air cast before carting him off the field and transporting him to a Kansas City area hospital, where he's expected to remain overnight, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Per Rapoport, doctors still are determining the overall damage to Dell's left knee, and while surgery is a possibility, it has yet to occur.
Dec 21, 2024
Will stay in hospital Saturday night
Coach DeMeco Ryans said Dell will remain in a Kansas City area hospital overnight with a "significant" left knee injury that he suffered during Saturday's loss to the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell had his left leg rolled up on while gathering in a 30-yard touchdown from QB C.J. Stroud in the back of the end zone during the third quarter. After teammates immediately signaled to the sideline for assistance, Dell's leg was immobilized in an air cast, and he was carted off the field. With a hospital stay required for further evaluation, he very well may have played his game of the season.
Dec 21, 2024
Transported to hospital
Dell was transported to a Kansas City area hospital during Saturday's loss to the Chiefs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
In the process of hauling in a 30-yard touchdown from C.J. Stroud in the third quarter, Dell had his left leg rolled up on, and teammates immediately motioned to the Texans' sideline for assistance. The leg in question was immobilized by an air cast before Dell was carted off the field. Considering he's requiring a visit to the hospital for further evaluation, there's a decent chance Dell may have played his last snap of the 2024 campaign.
Dec 21, 2024
Suffers significant knee injury
Dell was carted off Saturday's game against the Chiefs after suffering a knee injury, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports. His leg was immobilized by a brace.
ANALYSIS
Dell caught a 30-yard touchdown, but in the process had his knee rolled into by a teammate. The second-year receiver had tallied six catches for 98 yards and a touchdown before suffering the injury during the early stages of the third quarter.
Dec 15, 2024
Tallies 86 all-purpose yards Sunday
Dell secured both targets for 26 yards and rushed once for 15 yards in the Texans' 20-12 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also returned three punts for 45 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dell's receiving yardage total, modest as it was, qualified as the second highest on the Texans for the afternoon behind Joe Mixon's 33. Dell also recorded his longest rush since Week 2 with his 15-yard run, but he's now recorded under 40 receiving yards in five of his last eight games overall. Dell will look to make inroads against the Chiefs' defense in a Week 16 road matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Dec 1, 2024
Limited to one catch Sunday
Dell brought in one of four targets for 23 yards and returned one punt for 14 yards in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dell recorded his sole catch early in the fourth quarter, a reflection of how unusually quiet the speedy second-year wideout's afternoon was. Dell's target total also tied a season low, and his yardage was his fewest since Week 8. The 2023 third-round pick will now have a Week 14 bye to rest up before resuming a quest to snap what is now a five-game touchdown drought at the expense of the Dolphins in a Week 15 home matchup on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Nov 24, 2024
Three long catches
Dell recorded three catches on five targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 32-27 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Dell saw his target volume dip as Nico Collins got more involved, though he made the most of the looks he received. He caught a long 39-yard pass early in the second quarter, with his other two receptions going for 17 and 16 yards. Dell is likely to get fewer looks in the offense with Collins in the mix, though he could be freed to work down the field with the majority of defensive attention elsewhere on Collins.
Nov 18, 2024
Co-team-high yardage total
Dell brought in four of seven targets for 54 yards in the Texans' 34-10 win over the Cowboys on Monday night. He also rushed once for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Dell and the returning Nico Collins tied for the team lead in receiving yards and targets -- the latter with Dalton Schultz -- while checking in second in receptions. The second-year wideout now has at least four catches in four consecutive games, but he's only exceeded 50 receiving yards in two of those contests. However, Dell should continue benefitting from the defensive attention teams are forced to bestow on Collins when Houston hosts the Titans in Week 12.
Nov 11, 2024
Earns nine targets
Dell recorded five receptions on nine targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Dell had another game as the Texans' top pass-catching option with Nico Collins (hamstring) sidelined for another week. However, Dell failed to convert his opportunity, turning in a long reception of just 13 yards while also recording only one reception across the final two quarters. Overall, his disappointing season continued, as he's been held below 50 receiving yards in six of nine contests.
Nov 10, 2024
Active versus Detroit
Dell (back) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Dell, who worked fully Wednesday and Thursday, approached the contest listed as questionable after being limited in practice Friday, but he'll be available to face Detroit, unlike fellow wideout Nico Collins (hamstring), who was activated off injured reserve Saturday but deemed inactive Sunday. In that context, barring any in-game setbacks or limitations, Dell should have an opportunity to remain a key cog in Houston's passing game in Week 10 while leading a WR corps that also includes Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, John Metchie and Steven Sims.
Nov 9, 2024
Expected to suit up in Week 10
Dell (back), who is questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit, is expected to play, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell popped up on the injury report Friday and logged a limited practice due to a back issue. While late-week additions to the injury report are often ominous, it appears Dell will be able to play through the injury. Fellow wideout Nico Collins (hamstring) was activated off injured reserve Saturday and could be active Sunday, so the Texans might have their top two receivers available for a crucial contest against the Lions. It's important to note, however, that the matchup takes place on Sunday Night Football and doesn't begin until 8:20 PM ET, so fantasy managers who roster Dell or Collins may want to have a backup plan in place since neither is 100 percent certain to play.
Nov 8, 2024
Questionable for Sunday
Dell (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Lions after being limited in practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Dell practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday, so his addition to the Texans' injury report Friday is notable. Meanwhile, fellow WR Nico Collins (hamstring, IR) was limited in his return to practice Friday and carries a 'questionable' game status as well. Look for added context with regard to the duo's Week 10 availability to arrive no later than Saturday night or early Sunday via the usual posting of weekly injury updates from national reporters, but the Texans' 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday night complicates things from a fantasy perspective.
Nov 1, 2024
Eclipses century mark in loss
Dell secured six of nine targets for 126 yards in the Texans' 21-13 loss to the Jets on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Dell was the last man standing of the Texans' top wideouts with Stefon Diggs (IR, knee) and Nico Collins (IR, hamstring) sidelined, and the second-year pro turned in a season-high yardage total. Dell also tied his personal best in targets for the campaign, and he should continue playing an integral role in a Week 10 interconference home showdown with the Lions on Sunday night, Nov. 10, even with Collins expected to return for that game.
Oct 29, 2024
Slots in as top wideout in Week 9
Dell is expected to step into a larger role in the Texans' passing game Thursday against the Jets with Nico Collins (hamstring) set to remain out Week 9 and Stefon Diggs (knee) having been ruled out for the season, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Collins has already missed the Texans' past three games while residing on injured reserve, with Dell producing an 11-92-2 receiving line on 17 targets over that span. Diggs has drawn 23 targets over that same stretch, but after he suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts, the door is open for Dell and fellow wideouts Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods and John Metchie as well as tight ends Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover to at least temporarily carve out more volume in the passing game. Collins is reportedly on track with his recovery from the hamstring strain and could be ready to come off IR when first eligible Week 10 to take back his usual duties as the Texans' No. 1 receiver, but Diggs' absence for the rest of the season should still guarantee Dell a fairy sizable role moving forward. Dell had thrived as a rookie last season as the top complement to Collins before breaking his leg in Week 13.
Oct 27, 2024
Gets into end zone Sunday
Dell secured all four targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dell tied Dalton Schultz and Joe Mixon for second in receptions and finished third in receiving yards, but it took a seven-yard touchdown grab late in the second quarter to save the second-year wideout from a middling fantasy performance. Dell has scored both of his touchdowns on the campaign in the last three games, affording him some modest momentum heading into a Week 9 road matchup against the Jets on Thursday night.
Oct 20, 2024
Blanked in Week 7 loss
Dell didn't catch any of his four targets in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Dell was targeted in the end zone on consecutive plays on Houston's first drive, but the first went off his hands and he came down out of bounds with the second one, the latter of which didn't count due to a defensive offside. He ended up without a catch on three official first-half targets and was blanked on his only second-half target as C.J. Stroud threw for only 86 yards in an uncharacteristically shabby outing for Houston's entire passing game. Dell should continue to see additional opportunities as the Texans remain without star receiver Nico Collins (hamstring) against the Colts in Week 8.
Oct 13, 2024
Nine targets, TD in Week 6 win
Dell caught seven of nine targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Dell didn't take long to step up in the absence of Nico Collins (hamstring), notching a 20-yard catch on the opening drive before eventually capping that possession with a two-yard touchdown reception. He finished with the team lead in targets, narrowly beating out Dalton Schultz (eight) and Stefon Diggs (seven). Houston's entire passing game took the foot off the gas after building a 20-point lead in the third quarter, but Dell is poised for an extended uptick in usage for the duration of Collins' stint on IR. Collins will miss at least four games, the second of which will be a Week 7 trip to Green Bay.
Oct 9, 2024
More targets with Collins on IR?
Dell could see additional targets over the next four weeks, starting with Sunday's game against the Patriots, as the Texans placed Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Dell has posted more than 40 receiving yards only once this season and is still searching for his first touchdown of 2024 after scoring seven times in 11 games as a rookie in 2023 prior to suffering a season-ending injury to his lower leg. He has struggled to carve out a consistent role while ceding the majority of targets to Collins and Stefon Diggs, but in Collins' absence, Dell will occupy a top-two role in Houston's wide receiver room, with a steep drop-off from him to Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods.
Oct 6, 2024
Four catches in return
Dell caught all four of his targets for 38 yards and rushed once for minus-5 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Dell returned from a one-game absence due to a chest injury but continued to play a much smaller role compared to his rookie season in 2023. He's averaging just 31.8 receiving yards per game and has yet to score a touchdown in 2024 after posting 64.5 receiving yards and scoring seven touchdowns in 11 appearances last season. Dell could see some extra volume against the Patriots in Week 6 if Nico Collins (hamstring) doesn't play after leaving Sunday's win over the Bills, which may present an opportunity for Dell to shake off his slow start.
Oct 4, 2024
Returning to action Sunday
Dell (chest) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Dell didn't practice before he was ruled out for a Week 4 matchup with the Jaguars, but his chest injury improved enough for him to get back on the field this week. He was limited both Wednesday and Thursday before logging a full session Friday, thereby paving the way for his return to action. Dell will operate as the Texans' clear No. 3 WR behind Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs on Sunday, which so far has equated to nine catches (on 17 targets) for 99 yards and no touchdowns in three appearances this season.
Oct 3, 2024
Reps capped Thursday
Dell (chest) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell sat out the Texans' Week 4 win over the Jaguars with a bruised chest, but he looks to be trending in the right direction for Sunday's game against the Bills after turning in limited practices Wednesday and Thursday. The Texans will decide whether Dell carries an injury designation into the weekend following Friday's practice.
Oct 2, 2024
Limited in return to practice
Dell (chest) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
His return to practice, even in a limited capacity, lends credence to reports from earlier this week suggesting Dell is expected to return for Sunday's game against Buffalo. He didn't practice last week and ended up missing a win over the Jaguars, which allowed Robert Woods to fill in as a seldom-targeted No. 3 receiver alongside target hogs Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs. The No. 3 role demands more usage when Dell is filling it, but he's seen his volume suffer considerably while sharing the field with Diggs and Collins this year, drawing targets on just 16.5 percent of his routes (compared to 24.5 percent last season).
Oct 2, 2024
Returns to practice
Dell (chest/ribs) returned to practice Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
It was previously reported that Dell is expected to return for Sunday's game against Buffalo after missing a Week 4 win over the Jaguars. He may be limited at practice to start the week but is on the right track to suit up Sunday.
Sep 30, 2024
Expected back Week 5
Dell (chest) is expected to suit up versus the Bills in Week 5, barring any setbacks, Will Kunkel of FOX 26 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell was held out of the Texans' 24-20 win over Jacksonville on Sunday due to a chest injury, one which kept him sidelined at practice Wednesday through Friday in Week 4. The second-year pro is expected to rejoin Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs atop Houston's wide receiver corps versus Buffalo in Week 5, as long as he can avoid any setbacks in his recovery. It will bode well for Dell's status if he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity when Wednesday's first official injury report of Week 5 is released.
Sep 27, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Dell (chest) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Dell emerged from last Sunday's loss at Minnesota with soreness, which was clarified to be a chest issue on the Texans' first injury report of Week 4 prep. He proceeded to sit out practice Wednesday through Friday and thus won't be available this weekend. With Dell in street clothes, Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs will headline the Texans' receiving corps, while Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson, Steven Sims and John Metchie will be candidates to fill in behind the top duo.
Sep 27, 2024
Not seen at practice
Dell (chest) wasn't spotted at practice Friday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell also missed Wednesday and Thursday's sessions, so his apparent absence Friday doesn't bode well for his chances of being available Sunday against the Jaguars. Houston's upcoming injury report will reveal whether Dell heads into the weekend with any chance of facing Jacksonville.
Sep 26, 2024
Looks unlikely to play Sunday
Dell (chest) didn't practice Thursday and appears unlikely to play Sunday against the Jaguars while he manages bruised ribs, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
The Texans haven't officially ruled Dell out from playing Sunday, with head coach DeMeco Ryans noting Wednesday that he considers the wideout "day-to-day" while the team waits to see how he progresses during the practice week. However, with two straight absences to begin Week 4 prep, Dell doesn't seem to be tracking toward playing against Jacksonville while he contends with the injury, which he sustained late in last Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings. Dell also emerged from the contest with a hand injury, but the Texans list him only with a chest issue on the official Week 4 injury report. The Texans will decide after Friday's practice whether Dell carries a designation into the weekend, or if he's ruled out two days in advance of the contest.
Sep 25, 2024
Termed day-to-day by coach
Dell (ribs, hand) is day-to-day, per coach DeMeco Ryans, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell missed practice Wednesday after emerging from Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings with rib soreness as well as an injury to his hand/wrist. He'll have two more opportunities to resume practicing before a favorable home matchup against a leaky Jacksonville secondary that allowed four first-half passing touchdowns to the Bills on Monday.
Sep 25, 2024
Not seen at practice
Dell (ribs, hand) doesn't appear to be practicing Wednesday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell continued playing after he took a hard hit to the ribs during Sunday's 34-7 loss to Minnesota, and he later suffered a hand/wrist injury on the final drive. Garbage-time production helped him to a season-high 62 receiving yards, but Dell may now be in some danger of missing a Week 4 home game against Jacksonville. He reportedly avoided structural damage, so a return to practice Thursday or Friday should put him on track to play.
Sep 23, 2024
Managing soreness after Week 3 loss
Dell (ribs) is dealing with soreness Monday after taking a hit to the ribs during Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell also got his wrist/hand banged up late in Sunday's loss, but it looks like the second-year pro has escaped a rough Week 3 with only soreness. In catching five of six targets for 62 yards Sunday, Dell actually put together his best receiving line of the 2024 regular-season, though both Nico Collins (4-86-0 on 10 targets) and Stefon Diggs (10-94-0 on 12 targets) worked ahead of him. Dell will look to get fully healthy and take another step forward as the Texans prepare for a Week 4 divisional matchup against the Jaguars.
Sep 22, 2024
Five grabs against Vikes
Dell caught five of six targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout had his most productive game of the season so far as the Texans fell behind early and had to air it out even more than usual. Dell still finished third on the team in targets however, well behind Stefon Diggs's 12 and Nico Collins' 10, and that's likely to be the regular pecking order in looks from C.J. Stroud. Dell will try to build on this performance in Week 4 against the Jaguars.
Sep 15, 2024
Struggling in crowded WR room
Dell caught one of four targets for minus-3 yards and rushed three times for 16 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Dell got behind Chicago's defense in the third quarter but had a well-thrown ball bounce off his hands. The second-year wide receiver has had trouble recapturing the magic from his rookie year early in 2024 while ceding the majority of targets to Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs. Dell will look to get back on track in Week 3 against the Vikings.
Sep 8, 2024
Five touches in Sunday's win
Dell caught three of seven targets for 40 yards and added 19 rushing yards on two carries in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The second-year wideout looked healthy, which was the most important thing after his rookie season ended early due to a broken fibula. While Dell's production wasn't impressive in his first regular-season action since December, his target volume was comparable to both Nico Collins (6-117-0 on a team-high eight targets) and offseason acquisition Stefon Diggs (6-33-2 on six targets). With Dell still apparently set for a significant role in the Texans' dynamic passing attack, he'll look to make a bigger impact in Week 2 against the Bears.
Aug 24, 2024
Sits out exhibition finale
Dell (coach's decision) was held out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Dell continues to work with the first team offense despite the addition of superstar wideout Stefon Diggs this offseason and continued presence of Nico Collins as the No. 2 option. With C.J. Stroud looking like the real deal under center, the sophomore slot man may be a rare case in today's NFL of a true No. 3 receiver carrying "must-start" status in fantasy (a la Wes Welker with the 2007 Patriots). Dell has already proven his good health -- following last year's fractured fibula -- when he broke off a long touchdown catch in the Texans' first preseason contest before sitting out Saturday's exhibition finale.
Aug 9, 2024
Scores TD in return to field
Dell scored a 34-yard touchdown on his only target in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Dell found a seam down the field then broke away from a pack of Pittsburgh defenders to get into the end zone on his only reception. It was encouraging to see the second-year wide receiver suit up after a fractured fibula cut his rookie season short in Week 13, and even more encouraging that Dell looked like his usual explosive self on his touchdown catch. Houston's starters played only two drives Friday but may see more run in next Saturday's preseason matchup with the Giants.
Jul 29, 2024
Ready for training camp
Dell (leg) is participating in training camp practice, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell thus appears fully past both the broken fibula that he sustained last December, as well as a minor leg wound he sustained during an April shooting incident. With training camp underway, Dell has been working with Houston's first-team offense, while in the process seeing his share of looks from QB C.J. Stroud, along with fellow wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins. During his rookie campaign, Dell racked up 47 catches (on 75 targets) for 709 yards and seven TDs in 11 regular-season games, and if the 2023 third-rounder is able to stay healthy, he'll remain firmly on the fantasy radar, despite having to share WR targets with both Diggs and Collins.
May 21, 2024
Participating in OTAs
Dell (leg) is on the field for the start of OTAs on Tuesday with no apparent limitations, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell, who sustained a left leg wound as an innocent bystander in a shooting in Florida in late April, is already back on the practice field and running routes, and he seems to be an unrestricted participant to begin OTAs. The 2023 third-rounder has already recovered from the fibula injury he suffered last December, and he now rejoins a wide receiver room that added Stefon Diggs as a trade acquisition, and returns Nico Collins, Robert Woods, Noah Brown (shoulder) and John Metchie.
May 18, 2024
Engages in workout Saturday
Dell (leg) ran and performed drills Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell is recovering from what has been described as a "clean flesh wound" to his left leg sustained as an innocent bystander in a shooting in Florida in late April. The wideout's workout Saturday suggests that he's progressing well and confirms previous reports that the wound was minor. Given his activity Saturday, there appears to be a chance that Dell could participate in the Texans' OTAs, which begin Monday.
May 7, 2024
Full recovery from wound expected
Texans Chief Executive Officer Cal McNair indicated Monday that Dell (leg) is expected to make a "full recovery" from what the team has described as a minor wound that occurred during an April 27th shooting, the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Though McNair didn't provide details on the nature of the wideout's injury, he noted "it looks like Tank will make a full recovery. We saw him in the office the other day and he looked good, in good spirits. But he'll have to rehab and get back to where he was." Per the report, Dell has recovered from a fibula injury that he sustained last December, but it remains to be seen if the 2023 third-rounder's participation in the Texans' upcoming OTAs will be impacted by the wound he sustained last month. Once Dell has recovered, he'll be in line to reclaim his role in a Houston wide receiver corps that also returns Nico Collins, Robert Woods, Noah Brown and John Metchie, and has been bolstered by high-profile trade acquisition Stefon Diggs. In 11 regular-season games in 2023, Dell made his mark as a rookie by recording a 47-709-7 receiving line, while serving as a key pass-catching option for ascending signal-caller C.J. Stroud.

Sustains minor wound in shooting
The Texans have issued a statement relaying that Dell -- who sustained a minor wound as the result of a shooting in Florida on Saturday night -- has been released from the hospital and is in good spirits.
ANALYSIS
Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Dell is expected to make a full recovery from the wound he sustained during Saturday night's incident at a nightclub in Sanford, Fla. Dell is coming off a 2023 regular-season in which he recorded a 47/709/7 receiving line in 11 games prior to sustaining a season-ending broken fibula Dec. 3.

Gets serious target competition
Dell (leg) and Nico Collins are part of a potent WR group that now includes trade acquisition Stefon Diggs, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell is now even less likely to match his massive target volume from the four-game stretch preceding his season-ending leg fracture last season -- 25-369-5 on 43 targets Weeks 9-12 -- but he should still get a lot of playing time, and in an offense that could rank near the top of the league in pass rate and/or usage of three-wide formations. While Dell and Nico Collins both had more success than Diggs working downfield last year, there's little doubt that Diggs' presence will at the very least cut into some of the quick/schemed targets that boost a player's fantasy value. The leg injury seems like less of a concern, as Dell was said to be running at full speed in mid-March and on track to participate in spring practices. The team should have fairly flat target distribution if all the main guys stay healthy, with RB Joe Mixon likely seeing about 3-4 targets per game and TE Dalton Schultz a bit more than that. The big question -- which will remain an unknown for now -- is how many WR targets are up for grabs an

Running full speed already
Dell (leg) recently resumed workouts with private coach Delfonte Diamond, who said the wide receiver will be "more than ready" for OTAs this spring, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Diamond told KPRC 2 that Dell "hasn't lost a beat" and has been running full speed. The workouts reportedly included sprints and sharp cuts, demonstrating that the 24-year-old has made great progress since a broken fibula ended his rookie season Dec. 3. Prior to the injury, Dell had three 100-yard performances and seven touchdowns in 10 games, including a four-week stretch with 369 receiving yards, 43 targets and five TDs right before the game he left early. He, Nico Collins and TE Dalton Schultz figure to be the top pass catchers for second-year QB C.J. Stroud in 2024.

Expects to participate in OTAs
Dell (fibula) noted earlier this month that expects to join his teammates when the Texans take the field for OTAs this spring, Aaron Wilson, KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Dell, who is reportedly making a speedy recovery from a broken fibula that he sustained Dec. 3 against the Broncos, is expected to be a full participant in the Texans' offseason conditioning program. Beyond that, the 2023 third-rounder indicates that he hopes to "hit the ground running" once Houston's OTAs commence this spring. At that stage, however, it remains to be seen how close to 100 percent Dell will be, but barring any setbacks, the 24-year-old wide receiver should be good to go ahead of Week 1, at which point he'll profile as one of QB C.J. Stroud's primary passing targets this coming season.

Plans to practice this spring
Dell (leg) is making good progress in his recovery from a broken fibula and expects to be ready for OTAs this spring, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Ten and a half weeks removed from surgery, Dell was limited to coaching at Travis Scott's Cactus Jack Foundation celebrity softball game last Thursday, though the wide receiver moved around normally while playing catch with other participants. He started pool work in January, and there hasn't been any report of significant ligament or muscular damage accompanying his broken fibula. Dell plans to participate in spring practices and should be ready for training camp even if the Texans want him to slow-play things until then.
Feb 7, 2024
Coming along well
Dell (leg) started light pool work in January, with Will Kunkel of FOX 26 Houston reporting that doctors are pleased by the wide receiver's rehab progress so far.
ANALYSIS
Kunkel notes that Dell is still a long ways away from game shape and wouldn't have any shot to play if the Texans were in the Super Bowl. The third-round pick suffered a broken fibula Week 13 of his rookie season, following four consecutive games with at least eight targets, 50 yards and one touchdown. Dell finished the year averaging 4.3 catches for 54.5 yards and 0.64 TDs per game, despite exiting two games early with injuries and playing only 48 percent of snaps on offense Week 1. Not counting those three games, Dell averaged 5.1 catches for 77.3 yards and 0.88 touchdowns on 8.5 targets -- essentially WR1 production for fantasy. There hasn't been much information on his rehab, but it does seem like a good sign that he had surgery Dec. 4, just one day after suffering the injury. The Houston offense appears in good hands moving forward with C.J. Stroud throwing passes to Dell and fellow 2023 breakout star Nico Collins.
Dec 5, 2023
Moves to injured reserve
The Texans officially placed Dell (fibula) on injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Dell suffered a broken left fibula during this past Sunday's 22-17 win against the Broncos and underwent a procedure to repair it Monday. Per Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com, coach Demeco Ryans confirmed after Dell had surgery that the wide receiver will miss the remainder of the campaign, so Tuesday's transaction was merely procedural. Dell thus will end his rookie campaign with 47 catches (on 75 targets) for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games.
Dec 4, 2023
Out for season
Coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed Monday that Dell will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on the broken fibula he suffered in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Broncos, Ben Arthur of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell finishes his rookie season with 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns on 75 targets in 11 games. He also had 51 rushing yards on 11 attempts. Dell and C.J. Stroud were on pace to challenge all-time production records for a rookie quarterback-receiver duo, so Dell's future remains bright if he can make a full recovery, but his absence for the remainder of the season will complicate the 7-5 Texans' path to the playoffs. Noah Brown and Robert Woods will likely join Nico Collins in three-receiver sets moving forward.
Dec 4, 2023
Undergoes surgery for broken fibula
Dell underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a fractured left fibula, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell sustained the injury late in the first quarter of the Texans' 22-17 win over the Broncos on Sunday, when he got tangled up with other players while blocking on Dameon Pierce's three-yard touchdown run. The Texans haven't yet confirmed that Dell fractured his fibula, nor has the team offered up a timeline for his recovery from surgery, but injuries of this sort typically require a 6-to-8-week healing period, according to Alexander. With that in mind, Dell looks set to miss the rest of the season, and even a return to action in the playoffs may be unrealistic, unless the Texans not only clinch a postseason spot but also make a run to the divisional round. Moreover, the Texans have the ability to activate just one more player from injured reserve this season, and kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn (quadricep) looks to be the best candidate, as he could be ready to play as soon as this Sunday versus the Jets. As such, if Dell is moved to IR, it will likely spell an end to his rookie campaign. The 24-year-old has been o

Fractures fibula, out for 2023
Dell was diagnosed with a fractured left fibula after exiting Sunday's 22-17 win over the Broncos with what the Texans listed as an ankle injury, league sources tell Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. The wideout is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
ANALYSIS
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans will likely provide further details on Dell's injury after the game, but the rookie third-round pick out of Houston looks set to sit out the rest of the 2023 campaign after X-rays revealed structural damage to his left leg. Dell -- who had been listed as questionable heading into the day with a calf injury -- didn't draw any targets before exiting late in the first quarter, when he got tangled up in the scrum during Dameon Pierce's three-yard touchdown run. After he recorded 47 catches for 709 yards and a franchise rookie record seven touchdowns on 75 targets through the first 11 games of his career, Dell will be a big missing piece in the Houston passing attack in the weeks to come. His absence should clear the way for both Robert Woods and Noah Brown to have regular roles in three-receiver sets alongside Nico Collins.
Dec 3, 2023
Done for day
The Texans ruled Dell (ankle) out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Dell won't be able to return to the second half of the Week 13 contest after he was carted off the field upon injuring his left ankle on Dameon Pierce's three-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Before his departure, Dell didn't draw any targets in the passing game. Dell had been listed as questionable heading into Sunday due to a calf injury, but he'll now be tending to a new health concern heading into a Week 14 matchup with the Jets on Dec. 10.
Dec 3, 2023
Injures ankle Sunday
Dell was forced out of Sunday's game against the Broncos with an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Dell hadn't recorded a catch. In his absence, Nico Collins, Noah Brown and Robert Woods are available to handle the Texans' Week 13 wide receiver duties. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Dell's left ankle issue appears concerning, with the rookie pass-catcher expected to undergo X-rays and scans.
Dec 3, 2023
Good to go Sunday
Dell (calf) is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Dell never managed more than limited participation in practice this week while dealing with the calf issue, but the injury won't keep him off the field Sunday. With Noah Brown (knee) also getting the green light to play after missing Houston's last two games, the Texans will have their receiving corps at full strength for one of the few times all season. Dell should remain entrenched as one of the top targets for quarterback C.J. Stroud after putting together a monstrous 25-369-5 receiving line over the past four games.
Dec 3, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Dell (calf) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell is officially listed as questionable for Week 13, but reports have consistently been positive about his prospects of playing. The rookie wideout has scored in four consecutive weeks and gone over 100 receiving yards twice in that span. Meanwhile, when Houston's inactive list is released 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, Noah Brown (knee) is also expected to be available.
Dec 2, 2023
Trending towards playing
Dell (calf), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Broncos, is expected to play, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell was a limited participant in practice both Thursday and Friday, so it always seemed as if the rookie would be available for the pivotal matchup from a seeding perspective. Fantasy managers should still check on his availability prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but it's possible Dell could see an uptick in targets if Noah Brown (knee) is ultimately unable to play.
Dec 1, 2023
Questionable against Broncos
Dell (calf) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Dell was limited in practice Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's session. The rookie wide receiver picked up the calf injury in the Week 12 loss to Jacksonville, but coach DeMeco Ryans expressed confidence during the week that Dell would be available come Sunday. With Dell and Noah Brown (knee) both listed as questionable, a full picture of Houston's receiving corps against the Broncos likely won't materialize until 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 30, 2023
Limited at Thursday's practice
Dell (calf) was a limited participant in his return to practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Wednesday's session, Dell's return to the field one day later bodes well for his Week 13 availability. However, unless he practices fully Friday, Dell will likely approach Sunday's game against the Broncos with an injury designation.
Nov 30, 2023
Back at practice
Dell (calf) returned to practice Thursday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After having not been spotted during the initial portion of Thursday's practice, Dell -- who missed Wednesday's session -- subsequently took the field. The Texans' upcoming injury report is thus slated to clarify Dell's official participation level Thursday.
Nov 30, 2023
Still not practicing
Dell (calf) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell didn't practice Wednesday, so what he's able to do Friday at practice (if anything) will be telling with regard to his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Broncos. If Dell ends up out or limited this weekend, the potential return of Noah Brown (knee) could provide the Texans with added wide receiver depth in Week 13.
Nov 29, 2023
Sits out practice with calf injury
Dell (calf) didn't practice Wednesday, but the Texans are optimistic that he'll be available for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Wilson, Dell had imaging done on his calf after this past Sunday's 24-21 loss to Jacksonville. Dell's injury is regarded as relatively minor, but he'll likely need to increase his practice participation Thursday or Friday to get the green light to play against Denver. If the rookie wide receiver is unable to play, it would be a major loss for Houston's offense, considering Dell has piled up 25 catches for 369 yards and five touchdowns in his last four games.
Nov 26, 2023
Extends TD streak to four games
Dell caught five of eight targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Jaguars. He added 12 yards on one rushing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Dell scored Houston's first points with a seven-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. He had a 62-yard catch negated by an illegal shift penalty and another would-be long reception ruled an incomplete pass after a Houston challenge, so Dell came close to having an even more productive game. As it is, Dell still extended his touchdown streak to four games, and the rookie wide receiver has caught 25 of 43 targets for 369 yards and five touchdowns over that span. Dell has also provided double-digit rushing yards in four of the past seven games heading into a Week 13 home game against the Broncos.
Nov 19, 2023
Team-high receiving yardage in win
Dell secured eight of 10 targets for 149 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 21-16 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dell comfortably led the Texans in receiving yards by a wide margin while also setting the pace in receptions. The spectacular rookie teamed up with fellow first-year star C.J. Stroud on a 40-yard touchdown grab in the right corner of the end zone in the second quarter, Dell now has four touchdowns in his last three games, a sample in which he's eclipsed the century mark on two occasions as well. Dell figures to be a key piece of the air attack once again in a Week 12 home matchup against the Jaguars, and even more so if Noah Brown (knee) sits out another contest.
Nov 12, 2023
Logs 14 targets in win
Dell secured six of 14 targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 30-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday. He also returned three punts for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dell comfortably led the Texans in targets on a day when Nico Collins (calf) was sidelined, but he wasn't close to full efficiency. Nevertheless, the rookie turned in a productive day and was able to find the end zone for the fifth time this season and third time in the last two games on a six-yard grab to open the scoring for Houston on the afternoon. Dell next takes aim at the inconsistent Cardinals secondary in a Week 11 home matchup that could develop into another high-scoring affair now that Kyler Murray is back under center in Arizona.
Nov 5, 2023
Snags game-winning touchdown Sunday
Dell secured six of 11 targets for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans' 39-37 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed twice for two yards.
ANALYSIS
The rookie wideout struck for big plays several times during the wild victory, including on a 29-yard touchdown reception just past the midway point of the third quarter. Dell also came alive on the game-winning drive with a clutch 26-yard sideline grab immediately before his game-winning 15-yard touchdown reception with six seconds remaining. The 100-yard effort was the second of Dell's nascent career, while the multi-touchdown tally was his first. Dell will look to put together a successful encore to his stellar effort in a Week 10 road matchup against the Bengals.
Oct 30, 2023
Returns to action
Dell caught three of four targets for 16 yards and had three carries for 15 yards in Sunday's 15-13 loss to Carolina in Week 8.
ANALYSIS
Dell was back on the field after missing Houston's previous game due to a concussion. The Texans operated without Robert Woods (foot), which impacted wideout usage. Dell and Noah Brown joined Nico Collins has the top three wideouts. Brown was part of the top three Week 1, but the rookie Dell emerged as a viable option while Brown missed multiple weeks due to a groin injury. The Texans have not had all wide receivers healthy since opening week, so it is unclear which of the two is the third wideout when all hands are healthy.
Oct 25, 2023
Ready for Week 8
Dell was a full practice participant Wednesday and has cleared concussion protocol, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie missed a Week 6 win over the Saints and now is back in action after a Week 7 bye. Meanwhile, Robert Woods (foot) was held out of Wednesday's practice, though there hasn't been any indication his injury is serious. Woods' status could have a significant impact on Dell's role this Sunday at Carolina, especially if the Texans still want depth receivers like Noah Brown, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson (foot) to get some playing time. Dell and Nico Collins have been the most productive of the bunch, with Woods producing just 5.3 YPT and the ancillary guys not seeing many targets even when they play a decent amount.
Oct 23, 2023
Practices Monday, likely for Week 8
Dell (concussion) took part in the Texans' unofficial practice session Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. "Getting Tank back is big for us...he's a guy we can count on for a big play," head coach DeMeco Ryans told DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
While Ryans didn't officially confirm that Dell has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, the coach's comments to the media suggest that the Texans fully expect the rookie receiver to be available for Sunday's game in Carolina. Dell missed the Texans' Week 6 win over the Saints with the brain injury, but a well-timed Week 7 bye gave him added time to recover. Through his first five NFL games, Dell has compiled a 19-324-2 receiving line on 28 targets.
Oct 15, 2023
Inactive for Week 6
Dell (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Though Dell will miss the first game of his career after sustaining the brain injury in last week's 21-19 loss to Atlanta, Houston is hopeful that the Week 6 contest will be the extent of the rookie wideout's absence. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Dell is said to be showing improvement after practicing in a limited fashion Friday, and he should be ready to play Oct. 29 at Carolina following the Texans' Week 7 bye. While Dell is sidelined Sunday, however, Noah Brown, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson are expected to see added opportunities to see the field in three-receiver formations alongside Nico Collins and Robert Woods.
Oct 15, 2023
Not expected to play
Dell (concussion), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, is not expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
While Dell was listed as questionable on the injury report, he didn't practice all week, so this isn't a surprise. However, fantasy managers will want to wait for official word when inactives are released 90 minutes before the 1 pm ET kickoff. If Dell ends up unavailable versus New Orleans, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson would likely see added snaps at receiver for Houston.
Oct 13, 2023
Questionable after limited practice
Dell (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints after being deemed a limited practice participant Friday.
ANALYSIS
Though Dell wasn't on the field for the media-access portion of Friday's practice, he ended up going down as a limited participant on the Texans' final Week 6 injury report. Despite not having practiced fully all week, Dell may still have a chance at being available Sunday, though he'll first need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist before being removed from the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. If, however, Dell ends up unavailable versus New Orleans, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson would likely see added snaps at receiver for Houston.
Oct 13, 2023
Still not practicing
Dell (concussion) wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell also missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, so the wideout's continued absence Friday suggests that he's trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Saints. The Texans' upcoming injury report will add some clarity on that front, but if Dell is out this weekend, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson would figure to see added WR snaps in Week 6.
Oct 12, 2023
Remains sidelined Thursday
Dell (concussion) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Dell has one more chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints, but back-to-back absences from practice cloud his Week 6 status. If Dell is unavailable versus New Orleans, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson would figure to see added WR snaps for the Texans this weekend.
Oct 11, 2023
Not expected to play Week 6
Dell (concussion) did not practice Wednesday and is not expected to be available for Sunday's matchup against the Saints, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell is reportedly making progress as he works to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, but it looks like the rookie wideout would need to exceed current expectations in order to be cleared for Week 6. The Texans have a bye Week 7, so missing one contest would allow Dell almost two full weeks to recover in time for the team's Oct. 29 matchup against the Panthers in Week 8.
Oct 9, 2023
In concussion protocol
Coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that Dell is officially in the league's concussion protocol, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell was forced out of Sunday's loss to the Falcons in the second quarter due to be evaluated for a concussion, and Ryans now confirms that the rookie wideout has been placed in the NFL's five-step protocol. As such, Dell will require full medical clearance before being cleared to retake the field, putting his status for Week 6 versus the Saints in jeopardy. Fantasy managers will need to monitor Dell's progress as the week continues.
Oct 8, 2023
Won't return Sunday
Dell (concussion) has been ruled out for a return to Sunday's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Dell was presumably diagnosed with a brain injury after he exited the contest late in the second quarter to be evaluated for a concussion when he hit his head on the turf while reeling in a catch. He'll finish the game with three catches for 57 yards on four targets. The rookie receiver out of Houston will now look to clear the five-step concussion protocol ahead of the Texans' next game Oct. 15 versus the Saints.
Oct 8, 2023
Getting checked for concussion
Dell is questionable to return to the second half of Sunday's game against the Falcons while receiving an evaluation for a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Dell appeared to hit his head hard on the turf when he reeled in a key third-down catch in the second quarter. He'll get examined in the locker room before a determination is made if he's fit to return. If Dell's day is over, he'll finish the Week 5 contest with three receptions for 57 yards on four targets. He also carried twice for minus-4 yards.
Oct 2, 2023
Quiet following breakout
Dell caught one of three targets for 16 yards, had two carries for 13 yards and returned two punts for 14 yards in Sunday's 30-6 win over Pittsburgh in Week 4.
ANALYSIS
Dell was a popular free-agent fantasy acquisition after a Week 3 breakout (5-145-1), but he failed to build on that Sunday. The rushing attempts, however, were an interesting wrinkle. Houston's ground game had done little the first three games before producing its first 100+ game of the season. In college, Dell had five carries in three seasons while at the University of Houston. He remains third on the depth chart but played nearly as many snaps (50) as Nico Collins (54) and Robert Woods (51).
Sep 24, 2023
Paces pass catchers in win
Dell brought in five of seven targets for 145 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 37-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dell led the Texans in receptions, receiving yards and targets during the upset victory, putting a punctuation mark on Houston's surprising 20-point win with a 68-yard touchdown grab with just under nine minutes remaining. Dell has quickly ascended in the pecking order of the Texans' air attack, now having produced a 12-217-2 line in his last two games while logging 17 targets in that span. Dell could continue taking away his fair share of targets from veteran Robert Woods and challenge Nico Collins for the mantle of C.J. Stroud's top target in certain games this season, with his next opportunity to do so coming in a Week 4 home matchup against the Steelers.
Sep 21, 2023
Upgraded to full Thursday
Dell (thigh) was upgraded to a full practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Dell was limited in Wednesday's session but sounds ready to play for Week 3 against the Jaguars. With Noah Brown (groin) on injured reserve, Dell started alongside Robert Woods in Week 2 and played 79 percent of the offensive snaps. He posted a 7-72-1 line on a team-high 10 targets against the Colts. Dell has put himself on the WR3 map in fantasy.
Sep 20, 2023
Limited with thigh injury
Dell (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Dell scored his first NFL touchdown while catching seven passes in his second game Sunday against the Colts. The 2023 third-round draft pick is poised to continue playing a prominent role alongside Nico Collins and Robert Woods for the duration of Noah Brown's (groin) multi-week absence. Dell will have two more opportunities to return to full participation and avoid the injury report ahead of Sunday's trip to Jacksonville.
Sep 17, 2023
Scores first career touchdown
Dell brought in seven of 10 targets for 72 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 31-20 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie was set for a chance at an elevated role due to Noah Brown's placement on injured reserve with a groin injury, and Dell made very good use of the extra snaps Sunday. The 2023 third-round pick tied Nico Collins for the team lead in receptions while checking in third in receiving yards, and he recorded his first NFL touchdown on a 23-yard catch in the fourth quarter that served as Houston's final points of the afternoon. Given his encouraging performance Sunday and Stroud's seemingly quick learning curve, Dell shapes up as an intriguing fantasy option once again during a Week 3 road matchup against the Jaguars.
Sep 13, 2023
Should play more with Brown on IR
Dell is in line for an expanded role after Noah Brown (groin) was placed on IR on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Brown will miss a minimum of four games, paving the way for Dell to play consistently in three-receiver sets alongside Robert Woods and Nico Collins, though the potential return of John Metchie (hamstring) could further alter the pecking order. In his NFL debut against the Ravens, Dell had three catches for 34 yards while playing 37 offensive snaps, compared to 52 snaps for Brown. Dell had a productive preseason, and the diminutive rookie has a nice opportunity in front of him, beginning with Sunday's game against the Colts.
Sep 11, 2023
Part of rotation
Dell caught three of four targets for 34 yards and returned one punt for 14 yards in Sunday's 25-9 loss to Baltimore in Week 1.
ANALYSIS
Dell, who played 37 snaps (48 percent share) was part of a four-man rotation at wideout, behind Robert Woods (58 snaps), Nico Collins (54) and Noah Brown (52). The rookie splashed during preseason action, exhibiting chemistry with quarterback C.J. Stroud. The two should continue to connect often, if the Texans continue to fall behind in games and need to play catchup.
Sep 8, 2023
Returning punts Week 1
Dell is listed second on the depth chart at one wideout position and will return punts Week 1 against the Ravens, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell sits behind starting wideout Nico Collins and hopes to have an impact on an offense that ranked 31st in 2022. He developed an early connection in camp with quarterback C.J. Stroud, which raised expectations for the 2023 third-round draft pick. If he doesn't produce offensively, Dell could provide a lift on special teams; he averaged 17.0 yards per return and scored a touchdown as the primary punt returner for the University of Houston in 2022.
Aug 28, 2023
Returns to action Sunday
Dell (hamstring/back) was active for Sunday's preseason finale, failing to haul in his lone target in an exhibition win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Dell was able to return after missing last week's preseason tilt against Miami due to minor injuries. The third-round pick didn't record a catch Sunday, but he flashed his athletic ability when Davis Mills nearly connected with him downfield on the team's third offensive possession. The Texans appear set with Nico Collins and veteran Robert Woods as starters to begin the year, leaving Dell to compete with Noah Brown for snaps as we inch closer to Week 1.
Aug 23, 2023
Back at practice
Dell, who was held out of Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins due to hamstring and back tightness, was present for practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson notes that Dell sat out the exhibition contest as a precautionary measure, and the rookie third-round pick's presence at practice supports that notion. As Week 1 approaches, Dell and Noah Brown, among others, are competing for slotting behind the Texans' presumed top two receivers, Robert Woods and Nico Collins. If Dell ends up claiming a key role early on this season he could emerge as a fantasy sleeper, but with rookie C.J. Stroud trending toward being the Texans' Week 1 starting quarterback, Houston's offense could be more reliant on the ground attack in the early stages of the season.

Dealing with tightness
Coach DeMeco Ryans said Dell (undisclosed) was "feeling some tightness" in pregame warmups Saturday prior to the preseason contest against the Dolphins, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell didn't play in the exhibition loss to Miami, but Ryans said the rookie wideout "will be fine." His practice status will be monitored next week.

Impresses in first action
Dell caught five of eight targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night's 20-9 win over the Patriots in the preseason opener.
ANALYSIS
Dell's performance was highlighted by a juggling six-yard touchdown reception along the sideline to end the first half. The local third-round pick has drawn praise during camp and had a long gain of 24 yards Thursday, ultimately leading the Texans in all major receiving categories. For good measure, Dell also returned a punt for 13 yards. In a relatively fluid receiving corps behind Nico Collins and Robert Woods, Dell will strive to keep his momentum going in Houston's second preseason game versus Miami next Saturday.

Praised by coach
Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans described Dell as "quarterback-friendly" following Sunday's camp session, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dell, the former Houston Cougar, made a nice catch in front of fans, who erupted in cheers. Ryans called out Dell's ability to get open and route-running ability. Both Dell and fellow draftee Xavier Hutchinson have impressed early in camp and are in the mix for the final spots at wide receiver.

Stays in H-Town
The Texans selected Dell in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 69th overall.
ANALYSIS
Dell won't have to go far to meet up with his new team as the former Houston Cougar gets to stay in the area. A polarizing prospect, Dell was a dominant producer in college (32 receiving TDs) but his nickname of "Tank" is a bit of a misnomer; he's perilously slight at 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds. To be that small, standout athleticism is a necessity and Dell didn't show that at the combine with a 4.49-second 40-yard dash and a 121-inch broad jump. Houston doesn't have much settled in its receiving corps so there's a chance Dell finds his way onto the field, but his margin for error at the next level is small.
