Logs seven carries Week 10
Hill logged seven carries for 20 yards and zero receptions (on one target) for zero yards during Sunday's 17-7 win over Carolina. He also failed to complete his lone passing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Hill tallied a season high in rushing attempts for his second straight game with at least 20 rushing yards. But four of his seven carries came on consecutive plays immediately before QB1 Tyler Shough kneeled it out on the final drive of the fourth quarter. The 35-year-old once again finished with the Saints' second-most carries behind Alvin Kamara (22) and ahead of RB2 Devin Neal (four). Over six games this season, Hill has totaled 22 carries for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown, and he has three catches on four targets. The Saints will be on bye during Week 11, so Hill's next chance to score won't be until the Week 12 contest versus Atlanta on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Nov 2, 2025
Leading rusher in defeat
Hill compiled zero targets during Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged a team high and a season high in rushing yards, though nearly all of these yards came on his game-long 29-yard carry in the first quarter. The 35-year-old's final touch came when he was stopped for a one-yard loss on fourth down in the red zone. The Saints' offense has been extremely inefficient all season, and things didn't improve with rookie quarterback Tyler Shough making his first career start versus Los Angeles. Hill's lack of consistent touches and the continued struggles of this offense should continue to limit his production. New Orleans will next face off with the division-rival Panthers in Week 10 on Sunday.
Oct 27, 2025
Totals 12 yards Week 8
Hill gathered in his only target for six yards during Sunday's 23-3 defeat versus the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Hill played his fewest number of offensive snaps this season with 5. The 35-year-old has seen very limited playing time in his first four games since returning from a torn ACL four weeks ago, averaging 8.8 offensive snaps per game. He's also averaging just 3.5 touches per game, and he has not totaled over 15 yards in any of his four contests. Unless Hill sees a sharp increase in red-zone touches, he won't be worth any consideration by fantasy owners going forward. The Saints' next game will come versus the Rams on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Oct 19, 2025
Grabs two passes Week 7
Hill reeled in both of his targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 26-14 defeat against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged his first two catches of the season. The 35-year-old was on pace for a career high in receptions last season with 23 through eight games before he tore his ACL in Week 13. Hill's primary usage will still likely come as a rushing quarterback in short-yardage and change-of-pace situations, which was the scenario when he scored a one-yard rushing touchdown on his lone carry during the Week 6 loss to the Patriots. He'll need to start seeing more scoring opportunities in the red zone to have any reliable fantasy value, which is unlikely considering the inconsistency of the Saints' offense. Hill will look to get back in the end zone during the Week 8 contest against the division-rival Buccaneers.
Oct 6, 2025
Plays nine snaps in 2025 debut
Hill logged six carries for negative one yard and completed his lone passing attempt for 19 yards during Sunday's 26-14 victory versus the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Hill figured back into his role as a rushing quarterback and swiss army knife on offense during his first game back since suffering a torn ACL in Week 13 of the 2024 season. While he only played nine offensive snaps, the 35-year-old was featured nearly every time he got on the field, including multiple looks in short-yardage and third-down situations. Hill played at least 40 percent of offensive snaps in six of the eight regular-season games that he played last year, and he averaged 7.8 touches for 58.2 yards per contest in 2024. As he continues to ramp up his playing time, he should carry some value as a boom-or-bust option as a TE2 or FLEX play in most fantasy leagues, especially non-PPR formats. It will be worth monitoring how much, or if, his playing time increases during New Orleans' Week 6 matchup versus New England.

Set for season debut Sunday
Hill (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Hill is making his first appearance since Week 13 of the 2024 campaign, when he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. After the Saints designated him for return from the reserve/PUP list last Monday, he operated with a cap on his reps during Week 5 prep and then was activated from the PUP list Saturday. Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reported earlier Sunday that Hill is poised to take on his typical gadget role while serving as a tight end and reserve quarterback, meaning all of passes, runs and targets will be on the docket for the 35-year-old.
Oct 5, 2025
Set to fill gadget role in Week 5
Hill (knee) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, but he's expected to be available for the contest in his typical gadget role, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's availability won't be confirmed until the Saints release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but the team's decision to activate him from the reserve/PUP list Saturday had already suggested that he was on track to make his 2025 debut this weekend. Duncan notes that the Saints plan to list Hill as their top backup quarterback behind starting Spencer Rattler, likely indicating that rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough will be inactive as the team's emergency third quarterback. Though the Saints may want to ease Hill into the mix with a light workload coming off the torn ACL he sustained last December, the 35-year-old projects to see some carries Sunday and potentially even some looks in the passing game when he lines up as a tight end.
Oct 4, 2025
Activated from PUP list, still questionable
The Saints activated Hill (knee) from the reserve/PUP list Saturday, but he remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Hill thus is eligible for his first game action since tearing the ACL in his left knee Week 13 of last season after being a limited participant in practice during the entirety of Week 5 prep. On Wednesday, he was spotted working mostly with the Saints quarterbacks but also with the tight ends, so he appears set to handle his usual gadget role in the offense, assuming he's made active about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 4, 2025
In line to return Sunday
Hill (knee), who remains on the reserve/PUP list, is expected to be active Sunday against the Giants, The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints are required to activate Hill from the PUP list by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday in order for Hill to have a chance to suit up for the first time since tearing the ACL in his left knee Week 13 of last season. Once that occurs, he's listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game, meaning his status will receive clarity about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 3, 2025
Questionable, but still on PUP list
Hill (knee), who remains on the reserve/PUP list, is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill is in the later stages of his recovery from the torn ACL that he suffered Week 13 of last season, having logged limited practices since he was designated to return from the PUP list earlier this week. The Saints are giving him a chance to play Sunday, but first they'll need to activate him by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday and then not include him among the team's Week 5 inactives. Fellow TE Foster Moreau (knee, reserve/PUP list) is in the same boat, while Juwan Johnson (ankle), who is on the active roster, also is listed as questionable.
Oct 2, 2025
Another limited practice
Hill (knee) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill is working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in his left knee Week 13 of last season, having logged back-to-back capped sessions after the Saints opened his 21-day window to practice after opening the campaign on the reserve/PUP list. At Wednesday's practice, he was spotted working mostly with the quarterbacks but also with the tight ends, according to Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not Hill has a chance to return to action Sunday against the Giants.
Oct 1, 2025
Limited as practice window opens
Hill (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After missing the first four games of the season, Hill has resumed on-field work as the Saints officially opened his 21-day window in which to practice and eventually be activated from the reserve/PUP list. His activity Wednesday included drills primarily with quarterbacks but also with tight ends, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. Hill thus seems poised to operate in his previous roles around the Saints offense once he completes his recovery from the torn ACL that he suffered in his left knee Week 13 of the 2024 campaign.
Sep 29, 2025
In line to practice
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Monday that Hill (knee), who remains on the reserve/PUP list, will have his 21-day practice window opened Week 5, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill and fellow tight end Foster Moreau are slated to take the practice field for the first time this season once eligible to have their 21-day windows opened Week 5. That will provide New Orleans a three-week period wherein both players can be evaluated at practice without counting against the 53-man roster. Hill is recovering from a left ACL tear suffered Week 13 of last season, and once healthy he could contribute in a versatile role for Moore's offense.
Aug 26, 2025
Placed on reserve/PUP list
The Saints placed Hill (ACL) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill will be required to miss at least the first four games of the regular season due to his placement on the reserve/PUP list, after which point New Orleans will have the option of opening a 21-day window for him to resume practicing. The transaction is no surprise, given that the 35-year-old is recovering from an ACL tear suffered Week 13 of last season. Both Hill's expected timetable to return, and the role he'll play in new head coach Kellen Moore's offense, remain to be seen.
Jul 22, 2025
Opens camp on PUP list
The Saints placed Hill (knee) on the active/PUP list Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in Week 13 last season and is still working his way back from the injury. It's unclear at this point if the soon-to-be 35-year-old will be ready in time for the Week 1 season opener. With a new coaching staff in New Orleans, it also remains to be seen what kind of role Hill will play in coach Kellen Moore's offense this upcoming season.
May 22, 2025
Won't take part in OTAs
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Thursday that Hill (ACL) and Foster Moreau (knee) are both rehabbing and will miss OTAs and mandatory minicamp, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill is recovering from a late-season left ACL tear suffered last December, making it no guarantee that he's ready for the start of training camp. The 34-year-old carries a cap hit of nearly $18 million for 2025, including a non-guaranteed $10 million base salary, so he also still seems a likely candidate to have his contract restructured or become a cap casualty. With both Hill and Moreau sidelined it will be Juwan Johnson, who inked a three-year extension with New Orleans in March, who takes first-team TE reps and gets to build chemistry with both Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler during OTAs. Jake Haener (oblique) is also part of this team's three-way quarterback competition, but he may miss the remainder of the offseason program due to a recent injury.
Feb 12, 2025
Future in New Orleans uncertain?
The roster status Hill (knee), who is recovering from a left ACL tear and carries nearly an $18 million cap hit for the 2025 season, ranks high among the difficult offseason decisions facing the Saints and new head coach Kellen Moore, John Hendrix of Athlon Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network speculated Wednesday that the Saints "have a decision coming" this offseason on Hill, saying it's "hard to imagine he'd be back in New Orleans, but [...] anything is possible." Hill, who is now heading into his age-35 season, faces a recovery timetable of at least nine months after undergoing surgery to repair his torn left ACL in December, making him a likely candidate to miss at least part of the 2025 campaign. Of Hill's cap hit for 2025, Ross Jackson of Louisiana Sports reports that the $10 million base salary is not guaranteed, leaving New Orleans a direct avenue to potentially restructure his deal. Jackson also notes that Hill has been linked to retirement rumors.
Dec 30, 2024
Undergoes successful surgery
Hill (knee) recently underwent surgery, and he's expected to make a full recovery, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill tore his left ACL in Week 13 against the Rams. With surgery complete and successful, the veteran tight end will work to return to action next season. Hill's current contract with New Orleans runs through the 2025 campaign.
Dec 6, 2024
Placed on IR
The Saints placed Hill (knee) on injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
A torn ACL suffered Week 13 rules Hill out for the rest of the season and makes him uncertain for Week 1 of 2025. He'll be 35 years old at that point, and it's not entirely clear he'll still be with the Saints. In the meantime, Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau figure to get snaps/targets as a result of Hill's injury.
Dec 2, 2024
Suffers season-ending ACL tear
Hill was diagnosed with a season-ending ACL tear as well as additional damage to his left knee after undergoing further testing following Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The setback is a devastating one for Hill, who was just two weeks removed from delivering one of the fantasy performances of the season, when he accounted for three touchdowns, eight receptions, 188 yards from scrimmage and 18 passing yards in a Nov. 17 win over the Browns. Though he had been filling a variety of functions in the New Orleans offense in addition to contributing on special teams, Hill had tight-end eligibility in most fantasy leagues, where his involvement as a rusher in recent weeks had made him a high-ceiling lineup option. Now set to turn 35 years old in August and coming off a major injury that could affect his readiness for the 2025 season, Hill is facing a murky outlook moving forward. He's still on the Saints' books through next season after signing a four-year, $40 million extension in November 2021, though the 2025 portion of his deal contains no guarantees and could put him at risk of being cut.
Dec 2, 2024
Tests confirm season-ending injury
Hill is on track to miss the remainder of the season after tests Monday confirmed that he sustained a significant left knee injury in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Though a precise diagnosis of the injury likely won't be provided until interim head coach Darren Rizzi addresses the media, Hill's knee issue is apparent severe enough to sideline him for the final five games of the regular season and any potential playoff run that might follow. The 34-year-old Hill suffered four season-ending injuries during his collegiate career, but he's mostly been able to avoid extended absences since entering the professional ranks as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Hill had proven to be a versatile weapon for the Saints this season, contributing on special teams while also handling a variety of assignments on offense. He'll conclude the 2024 campaign with 278 rushing yards, 187 receiving yards on 23 catches and two completions for 21 passing yards while scoring six touchdowns over his eight appearances.
Dec 1, 2024
Season-ending injury feared
Hill is feared to have suffered a season-ending knee injury during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was carted off in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Rams. He will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, but the team is pessimistic regarding what tests on Hill's knee will reveal. Another update on Hill's status will surface after results of the MRI become known.
Dec 1, 2024
Getting tests on knee injury
Interim coach Darren Rizzi didn't have an update on Hill's (knee) status after Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams but revealed that Hill will go for additional testing on the injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's knee injury looked severe and he needed a cart to get off the field, but the exact nature of his injury will be clarified after the results of his additional testing become known. The versatile offensive player has been a key contributor as both a pass catcher and a runner in recent weeks, so it would be a big loss if Hill's unable to suit up against the Giants in Week 14.
Dec 1, 2024
Suffers knee injury in Week 13
Hill suffered a left knee injury during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Hill took a helmet to his knee from Rams pass rusher Jared Verse in the middle of the fourth quarter and required a cart to get off the field. The severity of the injury isn't known, but Hill will finish Week 13 with five carries for 10 yards and five catches (on seven targets) for 37 yards.
Dec 1, 2024
Carted off field Sunday
Hill was carted off the field due to a leg injury during Sunday's game versus the Rams, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
In the middle of the fourth quarter, Hill took a helmet to his left knee and remained on the turf afterward. The nature of the injury isn't known, but he likely will end Week 13 action with five carries for 10 yards and five catches (on seven targets) for 37 yards.
Nov 17, 2024
Massive day on ground
Hill carried the ball seven times for 138 yards and three touchdowns and caught eight of 10 targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 35-14 win over the Browns. He also completed one of two passes for 18 yards with an interception, and returned one kickoff for 42 yards.
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old lived up to his Swiss army knife reputation as he put together a career-best performance on the ground. Hill scored a 10-yard TD in the first quarter before putting the game away in the fourth, galloping for a 33-yard score early in the final frame and a 75-yard touchdown with less than three minutes left. Hill has six rushing TDs on the season, two short of his career high, and he figures to be heavily involved in the offense on the other side of the Saints' Week 12 bye.
Nov 10, 2024
Six touches in Sunday's win
Hill carried the ball four times for 14 yards and caught both his targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Since returning from a rib injury in Week 8, Hill has seen at least six touches in three straight games, compiling 145 scrimmage yards and a rushing TD over that stretch. The versatile "tight end" will likely see modest but consistent volume again in Week 11 against the Browns, and his usage in the red zone makes him a threat to get into the end zone any given week.
Nov 3, 2024
Compiles 60 total yards in loss
Hill secured four of five targets for 41 yards, rushed five times for 19 yards and a touchdown and threw an incompletion on his only pass attempt in the Saints' 23-22 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Hill filled his usual multi-purpose role and found his way to new season highs in receptions and receiving yards partly due to the exit of Chris Olave with a concussion in the first quarter. Hill also recorded his third rushing touchdown of the season on a seven-yard run in the second quarter, and he fell just short of reaching the 20-yard mark on the ground for the third straight game. The versatile veteran could see his involvement as a pass catcher remain slightly elevated during a Week 10 home matchup against the Falcons if Olave isn't able to clear concussion protocol in time for the contest.
Oct 27, 2024
Logs six touches Week 8
Hill gathered in two of four targets for 21 yards to go along with four rushes for 20 yards during Sunday's 26-8 loss against the Chargers. He also completed his lone passing attempt for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged a season-high in targets during his first game back from a rib injury suffered Week 4. In his first three games this season, the 34-year-old was the Saints' No. 2 rushing option behind Alvin Kamara. It looks like he took on a bigger role in the passing game Sunday, as he tied for third on the team in targets behind Chris Olave (14) and Kamara (11). Hill's non-traditional role makes his production rather hard to predict, but his value as a rusher in the red zone combined with the team's lack of weapons should provide him some notable scoring chances when he's healthy. He'll look to make an impact as both a rusher and receiver during next week's game versus Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Oct 24, 2024
Logs full practice Thursday
Hill (rib) practiced fully Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This marks Hill's first uncapped session since he emerged from Week 4 action with rib fractures, thereby paving the way for him to return to action Sunday at the Chargers. Fellow TE Juwan Johnson (shoulder) has been limited in practice so far this week, so there's a chance Hill could act as the Saints' top option at the position if the former doesn't gain clearance to suit up Week 8.
Oct 23, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Hill (rib) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been listed as limited on four consecutive injury reports going back to last week, but he's still seeking his first game action since Week 4 in Atlanta. Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau have been handling TE reps in the interim, but Johnson joined Hill as limited on Wednesday's report due to a shoulder injury. As a result, the statuses of both Hill and Johnson will continue to be watched as the weekend approaches to see if either are in danger of sitting out Sunday at the Chargers.
Oct 17, 2024
Not playing Thursday
Hill (ribs) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Weeks 5 and 6 due to rib fractures that didn't allow him to practice in advance of those contests, Hill was listed as limited on all three of the Saints' Week 7 injury reports. In the end, though, a doubtful designation forecast inactive status Thursday, which has come to pass. Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau will continue to handle the bulk of the TE reps while Hill is sidelined.
Oct 16, 2024
Doubtful for Thursday
Hill (ribs) is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against Denver, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
It looks like Hill will miss an opportunity to take on a larger-than-usual role in the absence of Saints wide receivers Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee). Coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that he's hopeful Hill can return for Week 8 against the Chargers (Oct. 27), per John Hendrix of SI.com.
Oct 15, 2024
Listed as limited again
The Saints listed Hill (ribs) as a limited participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Triplett notes that Hill wasn't on the field for the media-access portion of Tuesday's session, but the 34-year-old must have fit in enough work behind the scenes to earn a "limited" listing for the second practice report in a row. Hill still looks like he'll have a chance to play Thursday against the Broncos, but the Saints won't decide until after Wednesday's practice whether he carries a designation into the Week 7 contest.
Oct 15, 2024
Absent from practice
Hill (ribs) wasn't on the field for Tuesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans listed Hill as a limited participant Monday on its initial Week 7 injury report, but the offensive weapon looks as though he'll take a step back in terms of activity a day later. He'll likely need to get back on the field in some capacity to have a chance at playing in Thursday's game against the Broncos. Hill has missed the Saints' last two games while tending to multiple rib fractures.
Oct 14, 2024
Limited on estimated report
Hill (rib) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Hill didn't practice during preparation for Weeks 5 and 6 and missed both contests as a result of multiple rib fractures, so his projected activity level to begin this week at least is a positive sign for a banged-up Saints offense that includes injured QB Derek Carr (oblique), RB Alvin Kamara (hand) and WRs Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee). How Hill is listed on practice reports Tuesday and Wednesday should be telling for his odds to return to action Thursday against the Broncos.
Oct 11, 2024
Ruled out
Hill (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Had he been healthy enough to play, Hill might have taken on a larger role than usual with Spencer Rattler filling in for Derek Carr (oblique). As is, Hill's next chance to play is Thursday against the Broncos, with a lack of practice participation this week suggesting he isn't especially likely to be ready on a short week.
Oct 10, 2024
Not practicing
Hill (ribs) didn't practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill hasn't practiced since suffering rib fractures during a Week 4 loss at Atlanta, putting him in danger of missing a second straight games. His role may be expanded if he returns before QB Derek Carr (oblique), although that would also mean fewer red-zone visits for the Saints offense unless fill-in quarterback Spencer Rattler is a pleasant surprise. Rattler will start this Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Oct 9, 2024
Still not practicing
Hill (ribs) didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of Monday's loss at Kansas City, the Saints didn't hold a full session to begin Week 6 prep, but Hill still was listed as a DNP for a fourth consecutive injury report due to the rib fractures that he sustained Week 4 in Atlanta. He'll have two more opportunities this week to mix into drills before New Orleans potentially makes a ruling on his status for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Oct 5, 2024
Not playing Monday
Hill (ribs) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's matchup against the Chiefs, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill failed to practice all week as the Swiss army knife of an offensive player is dealing with fractured ribs suffered in Week 4. Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson will likely each take a share of the work, but neither can comfortably fill the shoes of Hill from a fantasy perspective.
Oct 4, 2024
Absent from practice Friday
Hill (ribs) is not present for the early portion of Friday's practice open to the media, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill appears set to be listed as 'DNP' on a second consecutive practice report as he continues to tend to fractured ribs suffered during New Orleans' loss to Atlanta in Week 4. The versatile offensive weapon will have one more chance to get on the practice field before receiving a game designation for Monday's contest against the Chiefs, but Hill's injury is of a severe enough nature that it could well threaten his Week 5 availability. Hill's participation level, or lack thereof, during Saturday's practice will be telling as to his chances of being able to suit up versus Kansas City.
Oct 3, 2024
Tending to rib fractures
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said that Hill was held out of Thursday's practice due to rib fractures, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen didn't go into detail regarding the number of the fractures, but the injury certainly sounds like something serious enough to threaten Hill's availability for Monday's game against the Chiefs. Hill had previously missed the Saints' Week 3 loss to the Eagles with a bruised lung, so the team could be motivated to proceed cautiously with the offensive weapon now that he's tending to another chest-related injury in the aftermath of this past Sunday's loss to the Falcons. The Saints will likely wait and see how Hill is feeling after the team's final practice of Week 5 on Saturday before determining his status for the Monday night contest.
Oct 3, 2024
Missing from practice
Hill (rib) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was withheld from the Saints' first Week 5 practice, four days after head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that the jack-of-all-trades player injured a rib in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. The 34-year-old will have two more opportunities to log some practice activity before the Saints decide whether he'll carry a designation into Monday's game in Kansas City. Hill previously missed a game Week 3 against the Eagles, but he's suited up in each of the Saints' other three contests while recording two receptions for two yards and carrying 14 times for 77 yards and two scores.
Sep 29, 2024
Officially has rib injury
Coach Dennis Allen clarified after Sunday's 26-24 loss at Atlanta that Hill suffered a rib injury during the game, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill already sat out Week 3 due to a chest injury, and he picked up a new health concern in the second quarter Sunday in his return to action. It's unclear if he may be in danger is missing additional time, but the other healthy and active TEs for the Saints in Week 4 were Juwan Johnson (three targets) and Foster Moreau (none).
Sep 29, 2024
Hurts abdomen Sunday
Hill suffered an abdominal injury during Sunday's game in Atlanta, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill appeared to be grabbing at his chest when he exited in the middle of the second quarter, which could have signaled an aggravation of the issue that forced him to sit out Week 3. Instead, he's dealing with a different health concern of unknown severity. Prior to leaving the contest, Hill had six carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns and wasn't targeted.
Sep 29, 2024
Departs Sunday's game
Hill (undisclosed) exited Sunday's game at Atlanta, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, Hill seemed to clutch at his chest as he ran to the sideline in the middle of the second quarter. After a visit to the blue medical tent, Hill then went to the locker room. He may have aggravated the chest injury that he suffered Week 2 at Dallas that kept him out last Sunday against the Eagles, something that the Saints may confirm in due time.
Sep 25, 2024
Logs full practice Wednesday
Hill (chest) practiced fully Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill sustained a chest injury Week 2 at Dallas that necessitated a visit to a local hospital. He proceeded to log a pair of limited practices during Week 3 prep before the Saints ruled him out ahead of this past Sunday's eventual defeat to the Eagles. On Sunday, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports revealed that Hill was tending to a bruised lung, but the gadget player appears to be past the issue after Wednesday's uncapped session. In parts of two games this season, Hill has eight carries for 53 yards, two catches (on three targets) for two yards and no pass attempts or touchdowns.
Sep 25, 2024
Back at practice Wednesday
Hill (chest) is participating in Wednesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Saints coach Dennis Allen said he Wednesday anticipates Hill "being ready to go" for Sunday's road match against the Flacons, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The versatile playmaker appears is back practicing in at least a limited capacity Wednesday after having missed Week 3 due to a bruised lung. Barring any setbacks in practice Thursday and Friday, Hill will be in line to return for Sunday's key divisional matchup. His availability could prove key for the Saints, especially with Alvin Kamara (ribs/hip) sidelined Wednesday.

Nursing bruised lung
Hill (chest) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles due to a bruised lung, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was forced out of this past Sunday's 44-19 win over the Cowboys with what the Saints labeled as a chest injury, with the issue prompting a brief hospitalization before he was released shortly thereafter. The 34-year-old sat out practice Wednesday and managed limited participation in sessions Thursday and Friday before the Saints initially deemed him questionable heading into Sunday's matchup with the Eagles. However, Hill was then downgraded to doubtful Saturday and downgraded again to out earlier Sunday, with the Saints apparently choosing to err on the side of caution with the versatile playmaker while he was still experiencing some difficulty breathing because of the injury, according to Glazer. The Saints will hope that with some extra time to rest up and recover, Hill will be good to go for their next game Sept. 29 versus the Falcons in Week 4.
Sep 22, 2024
Ruled out for Week 3
HIll (chest) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Hill exited last Sunday's win at Dallas with a chest injury that forced a visit to a local hospital for further evaluation. He was able to travel back to New Orleans with his teammates, but he logged just two limited sessions in the meantime before the Saints listed him as questionable for Week 3 action. After the team downgraded him to doubtful Saturday, there was little leeway for Hill being available Sunday, and it's now been confirmed. In Hill's place, TEs Foster Moreau, Juwan Johnson and Dallin Holker and FB Adam Prentice will be tasked with stepping up in the Derek Carr-led offense.
Sep 21, 2024
Downgraded to doubtful
Hill (chest) has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was hospitalized last week due to a chest injury, so it would have been a bit surprising for the versatile player to be available the following week. Assuming the veteran doesn't play, both Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau figure to see plenty of opportunities against a porous Eagles defense.
Sep 20, 2024
Will be questionable vs. Eagles
Hill (chest) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, per coach Dennis Allen, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was hospitalized due to a chest injury suffered in last week's win over the Cowboys, and while the injury ultimately wasn't deemed too serious, it may nonetheless impact his availability for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Even if Hill gets the green light to suit up, the versatile playmaker may see a diminished role, which will make Hill tough to trust for fantasy purposes.
Sep 19, 2024
Returns as limited Thursday
HIll (chest) was a limited practice participant Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After Hill sat out Wednesday's session, coach Dennis Allen relayed hope that the tight end would return as limited one day later. Indeed, that has come to pass, but Hill still has some work to do as a result of the chest injury that forced him from this past Sunday's victory at Dallas and also resulted in a visit to a local hospital. Hill will have one more opportunity to practice this week before the Saints potentially give him a designation ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Eagles.
Sep 18, 2024
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that Hill (chest) didn't practice Wednesday, but the Saints hope that he'll be limited at Thursday's session, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill made an early exit from this past Sunday's win at Dallas due to a chest injury that resulted in him getting further evaluation at a local hospital. He was able to join his teammates for the flight back to New Orleans, and Allen told Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football on Monday that Hill "avoided anything serious." Even so, the team is exercising caution with Hill this week, but his ability to return to drills in the coming days could give him a chance to suit up Sunday against the Eagles.
Sep 16, 2024
Avoids significant injury
Hill (chest) avoided a major injury following additional testing at the hospital Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was apparently feeling good Monday and "avoided anything serious" according to head coach Dennis Allen, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. The tight end will go through the rehab process with his chest injury and there's currently no update on his status for Sunday's Week 3 contest at home versus Phildelphia. More information on Hill's availability will likely come following the team's first practice of the week Wednesday.
Sep 16, 2024
Seems to have avoided major injury
Hill (chest) was released from the hospital Sunday night and is believed to have avoided a major injury, but he will undergo further tests Monday, Ed Werder of Channel 8 Dallas reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was transported to a hospital for evaluation after being forced out of Sunday's 44-19 win at Dallas in the second half, but he traveled back to New Orleans via the Saints charter. It's encouraging to hear that the team doesn't believe Hill's chest injury is overly severe, but an estimated timetable for his return won't be given until after the results of Monday's imaging tests are revealed. If Hill isn't able to play Week 3 versus the Eagles, Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson will figure to dominate TE reps, while Jamaal Williams will be positioned to handle increased carries behind Alvin Kamara.
Sep 15, 2024
Getting evaluated at hospital
Coach Dennis Allen said after Sunday's 44-19 win at Dallas that Hill (chest) went to the hospital to be evaluated further, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
After going to the locker room in the second half, Hill was deemed doubtful to return to Sunday's contest. Allen wouldn't elaborate on Hill's chest issue, aside from calling the visit a precautionary measure. Hill ended Week 2 with three carries for 18 yards and one catch (on one target) for one yard.
Sep 15, 2024
Exits Sunday's game
Hill was forced out of Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a chest injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Hill carried three times for 18 yards and caught his lone target for one yard. Hill has been deemed doubtful by the Saints to return to the contest.
Sep 9, 2024
Handles rushing-centric role Week 1
Hill recorded five carries for 35 yards and caught one of his two targets for one yard during Sunday's 47-10 win versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Hill worked as the Saints' secondary rushing option to start the game, logging a two-yard carry on the team's second play from scrimmage. The 34-year-old finished with four carries and one target in the first quarter, and his playing time dwindled as the game got out of hand down the stretch. Backup running back Jamaal Williams logged more carries (11), but most of his touches came later in the second half when the game had already been essentially decided. Hill's early usage in the rushing game Sunday is a likely indicator of what his role could be under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak this season. It will be worth monitoring if/how his deployment changes when New Orleans faces what should be a much tougher road matchup versus Dallas on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Aug 19, 2024
Gets work at RB
Hill rushed five times for 21 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Hill has already proved himself worthy as both a quarterback and a tight end, but he appears to be putting a focus being a runner this year. Gaining more roster flexibility is generally received well in fantasy, so Hill should be able to carve out a niche role for certain managers this campaign.
Aug 17, 2024
Could see increased touches Week 1
Multiple starting skill players for the Saints are dealing with lingering injuries, which could have Hill primed for a significant workload to start the regular season.
ANALYSIS
Starting tight end Juwan Johnson has yet to practice this training camp after undergoing foot surgery in mid-June, and it's unclear if he'll be able to play Week 1. Running backs Alvin Kamara (back) and Kendre Miller (back) are also both currently sidelined with injuries. Hill's versatily on offense means he should be one of the first options to pick up the slack if players at either position miss time this season. The 34-year-old has traditionally been featured at tight end and quarterback -- especially as a rushing quarterback in power formations. Comments from Saints coach Dennis Allen this offseason have emphasized that Hill once again be a key piece of the offense, though Allen has also been unsurprisingly vague when discussing just how he'll fit into the system for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Hill's been spotted working more with the team's running backs and fullbacks during training camp and OTAs, suggesting that he could get even more usage in the backfield. He also lined up at running bac

Restructures contract
Hill agreed to restructure his contract Tuesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a simple restructure, converting 2024 base salary into a signing bonus to push some of his cap hit from the current season into future years. Early reports from training camp suggested new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was giving Hill more chances as a running back or fullback, but Hill could now see a lot of snaps at tight end following Thursday's announcement that Juwan Johnson will need foot surgery. The Saints hope Johnson will be ready by Week 1, but it sounds like far from a sure thing. Either way, it may be tough to get a good read on Hill's role under a new coordinator until the season is actually underway.
May 29, 2024
Taking snaps as FB/RB
Hill has taken snaps as a running back, fullback and tight end during OTAs, rather than getting direct snaps as a dual-threat QB, Matthew Paras of The Advocate reports.
ANALYSIS
While Hill presumably will take direct snaps at some point, early signs suggest new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak prefers to use his versatile weapon as more of a hybrid TE/RB/FB/H-back. Former Saints coordinator Pete Carmichael rarely put Hill in the backfield unless he was taking the snap, instead using him as either a power-formation QB or spread-formation TE. Hill scored between five and nine touchdowns each of the past five seasons, not including passing TDs, with last year's 692 yards from scrimmage representing a new career high (besting his 652 from the year prior). His occasional outbursts, often fueled by red-zone work, have made Hill rather useful in leagues where he has TE eligibility and the scoring is non-PPR and/or best ball. His lack of receptions compared to other TEs has made him far less valuable in PPR formats, especially those that set lineups weekly, and that'll probably continue under Kubiak even if Hill's role somewhat changes for his age-34 season. Many fantasy players will be le
Jan 7, 2024
Fills the stat sheet Week 18
Hill logged six rushes for 51 yards and caught all four of his targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 48-17 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Hill returned to form in the Saints' regular-season finale. The 33-year-old was inactive Week 14 with foot and hand injuries, and he totaled just eight touches across the last three games. Howver, nothing slowed Hill down Week 18, as he logged his second-most total yards of any game this season. He didn't log any passing attempts Sunday, though this may have been due to a big night for starting quarterback Derek Carr, who completed 22 of 28 passing attempts for 264 yards and four touchdowns. Since the Saints were eliminated from playoff contention Week 18, Hill finishes the 2023 campiagn with 81 carries for 401 rushing yards and four rushing scores. He also tallied career highs as a receiver with 33 catches (on 40 targets) for 291 yards and two touchdowns.
Dec 31, 2023
Scores in big win
Hill logged two rushes for one yard and caught both of his targets for 30 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 23-13 win versus Tampa Bay. He also went 1-for-2 passing for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill got behind his nearest defender on an all-out blitz by Tampa Bay before hauling in a 22-yard touchdown near the pylon, thus extending New Orleans' lead out to two scores late in the second quarter. This also marked the 33-year-old's first touchdown since Week 13 and just his second receiving touchdown of the 2023 campaign. The versatile tight end's biggest contributions this season have come as a rusher while lined up in the shotgun, which has helped spare top running back Alvin Kamara's workload. While Kamara was forced out with an ankle injury Sunday, Hill's rushing production remained limited for the third game in a row; instead, No. 2 running back Jamaal Williams carried the load with a season-high 19 carries. Hill has now recorded two or fewer rushes in each of his past three games, and, unless he gets involved in the rushing rotation more consistently Week 18, his fantasy value will likely hinge on if he can find the end zone against the Falcons on Sunday, Jan. 7.
Dec 23, 2023
Limited outing in loss
Hill rushed twice for two yards and did not record a target or passing attempt during Thursday's 30-22 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Hill played extremely limited snaps for the second week in a row, tallying 10 offensive snaps Thursday after appearing on just 12 snaps during the Week 15 win against the Giants. The 33-year-old logged rushing attempts on the opening offensive series of each half for the Saints, but he did not factor into the team's game plan elsewhere. Hill missed the Week 14 win versus Carolina while tending to foot and hand issues, though he never appeared on the Week 16 injury report for any reason. He also tied for New Orleans' second-most rushing attempts Thursday, as the team was limited to just 16 total rushes while playing from behind for most of the night Nevertheless, his stark dropoff in playing time recently, whether if be due to injury or overall offensive struggles, leaves little hope for his fantasy production as the Saints' vie for a playoff spot over the final two weeks of the regular season.
Dec 17, 2023
Moderate role in easy win
Hill failed to complete his lone passing attempt but logged one rush for one yard and caught his only targets for a four-yard reception during Sunday's 24-6 victory over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Hill had a very quiet outing Sunday after sitting out last week with foot and left hand injuries. When healthy this season, the 33-year-old has played a key role as a physical, bruising rusher behind running back Alvin Kamara. Instead, No. 2 running back Jamaal Williams carried the load with eight carries behind Kamara's 16 on Sunday. Hill logged his lone passing attempt, rush and target during the first half, as it appears the team didn't want to push him too hard during his first game back. His lone contribution in the second half came when he returned a kickoff for 18 yards.. Hill should have an opportunity put up more production while serving his usual multi-purpose role when the Saints next play versus the Rams on Thursday Night Football.
Dec 15, 2023
Clear for Week 15
Hill (foot/left hand) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest against the Giants, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill failed to practice at all before sitting out Week 14 versus the Panthers due to a combination of foot and left hand injuries. This time around, he opened the week with back-to-back capped sessions before getting back to all activity Friday, clearing the path for his return to action. Hill thus is slated to take on his usual gadget role in the Saints offense, which has amounted to 90 touches, eight passes, 647 yards (from scrimmage plus through the air) and six touchdowns overall in 12 appearances this season.
Dec 14, 2023
Remains limited in practice
Hill (foot/left hand) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill sat out the Saints' Week 14 win over the Panthers and has had his reps capped in both of the team's first two practices of Week 15, so he may need to log a full practice Friday to guarantee his availability for Sunday's game against the Giants. If cleared to play this weekend, Hill would likely step into his hybrid tight end/backfield role that often entails a handful of targets and carries. He handled a season-high 13 carries in his most recent appearance Week 12 versus the Lions, but Hill could be eased back in with a lighter workload on the ground if he suits up Sunday.
Dec 13, 2023
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Hill (foot/hand) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's took part in his first on-field activity since he sat out all of last week due to foot and left hand injuries. On Wednesday, he didn't don a red non-contact jersey and also was working with Saints quarterbacks, per Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football. That said, New Orleans didn't include No. 1 quarterback Derek Carr on its injury report for the first time since Week 10 prep, so Hill may be relegated to his typical gadget role if he's able to put an end to a one-game absence Sunday versus the Giants.
Dec 13, 2023
Practicing Wednesday
Hill (foot/hand) took part in Wednesday's practice, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill didn't practice last week before being inactive this past Sunday against the Panthers, so his ability to log some on-field work to start Week 15 prep generally is a good sign that he has a chance to return Sunday versus the Giants. He also was spotted without a non-contact red jersey while working with Saints quarterbacks. Wednesday's injury report will reveal whether Hill was a limited or full participant.
Dec 10, 2023
Inactive in Week 14
Hill (foot/hand) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Despite not being able to practice this week due to foot and hand injuries, Hill was deemed questionable to play Sunday, perhaps due to uncertainty surrounding Derek Carr's (shoulder/ribs) availability. But after Carr cleared the concussion protocol Friday and had his designation removed entirely Saturday, the Saints may feel comfortable giving Hill the week off to get healthy for the stretch run of the season. New Orleans doesn't boast another player that can mimic Hill's skill set, but his lack of availability may mean RB Jamaal Williams is a bigger part of the offense than normal Sunday.
Dec 10, 2023
Unlikely to suit up Sunday
Hill (foot/hand) is not expected to play against the Panthers in Sunday's Week 14 contest, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill entered the weekend listed as questionable despite not being able to take part in practice at all this week. He's now being viewed as unlikely to be able to suit up, which would mark his first missed game of the campaign. Hill's versatile role will be tough to replace, but his probable absence could be softened to some extent by the expectation that fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (quad) will be able to play.
Dec 8, 2023
Listed as questionable after another DNP
Hill (foot/hand) didn't practice at all this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
A third consecutive missed practice is the opposite of encouraging, but the Saints will at least give Hill a shot to be ready ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. He's been a huge part of the offense of late -- in part due to WR injuries -- and the Saints certainly could use his help this Sunday with Chris Olave (flu), Rashid Shaheed (thigh) and TE Juwan Johnson (quad) all listed as questionable. Coach Dennis Allen said Hill's foot injury is the real concern, not his hand, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Dec 8, 2023
Misses third straight practice
Hill (foot/hand) isn't practicing Friday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A third consecutive missed practice puts Hill in serious doubt for Sunday's game against Carolina. It remains to be seen if the Saints list him as questionable, doubtful or out on their final injury report Friday afternoon.
Dec 7, 2023
Idle for another practice
Hill (foot/hand) wasn't on the field for Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Now that he's missed the Saints' first two Week 14 practices, Hill will likely need to get back on the field Friday in some capacity to put himself in a position to be available Sunday against the Panthers. Hill is coming off a busy Week 13 loss to the Lions in which he played 28 snaps and took a season-high 13 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown while throwing two incompletions and reeling in his two targets for 15 receiving yards. With the status of Derek Carr (concussion/rib/shoulder) uncertain for Sunday, Hill could end up taking more reps under center than usual if he's able to overcome his own pair of injuries, though Jameis Winston would likely serve as the Saints' primary quarterback if Carr can't play.
Dec 6, 2023
Has pair of injuries
Hill didn't practice Wednesday due to foot and left hand injuries, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's weekly role in the Saints offense seemingly is matchup dependent, with his carry counts ranging from one to 13 and targets from one to eight this season. Overall, he's tallied 575 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns and also recorded one TD through the air in 12 games. With health concerns now in tow, though, Hill has joined starting quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/shoulder/rib) on the team's Week 14 injury report. Hill will have two more sessions this week to put himself in a position to play Sunday against the Panthers.
Dec 3, 2023
Finds the endzone in loss
Hill logged 13 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown and caught his only two targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 33-28 defeat to Detroit. He also went 0-for-2 passing.
ANALYSIS
Hill fulfilled a central role in the Saints' depleted offense Week 13, as wideout Rashid Shaheed (thigh) was inactive while Michael Thomas (knee) remained out on IR. The versatile tight end/quarterback has been a regular presence in the team's rushing offense throughout the season, but he actually led the team in rushing yards ahead of Alvin Kamara (51) on Sunday. The running back still got the ball on two rushing touchdowns within the two-yard line during the seocnd half while Hill added another one-yard rushing touchdown of his own. The 33-year-old also tied with tight end Foster Moreau for Saints' third-most receptions behind Kamara (six) and wideout Chris Olave (five). Hill's ability to factor in as a rusher, passer and receiver provides a solid fantasy floor as well as a unique upside. His role in the offense could be even more significant if quarterback Derek Carr is forced to miss time after he was carted off the field due to a potential concussion sustained in the fourth quarter.
Nov 26, 2023
Totals 76 yards in loss
Hill caught both of his targets for 55 yards and rushed seven times for 26 yards during Sunday's 24-15 defeat to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Hill once again showed his value across the offense, including catching a season-long 36-yard reception on a deep pass from Derek Carr in the first quarter. As a result, the versatile tight end logged the Saints' second-most receiving yards behind wideout Chris Olave (114), who was forced out with a concussion during the third quarter. Hill also recorded the team's second-most rushing attempts behind Alvin Kamara (15). However, Hill cost his team dearly when he fumbled after a 10-yard gain into the red zone just before the end of the third quarter. While the 33-year-old rarely grabs the limelight as either a receiver or rusher, his continuous ability to contribute in both phases provides worthwhile attention for fantasy managers. With Michael Thomas (knee) already on injured reserve, Hill's receiving production could increase if Olave and/or wideout Rashid Shaheeh (thigh) are sidelined versus Detroit in Week 13.
Nov 13, 2023
Logs three touches in loss
Hill logged one rushing attempt for six yards to go along with two receptions (on four targets) for 17 yards during Sunday's 27-19 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Hill looked like he was on pace for another productive night early on, logging two receptions and what wound up being his lone rushing attempt over the Saints' first two offensive series. He fell to the wayside until the third quarter when he failed to haul in back-to-back passes from backup quarterback Jameis Winston, who stepped in to relieve injured starter Derek Carr (shoulder). Hill's most productive outings this season have come while being used as a running quarterback, but the Saints likely abandoned that portion of the playbook after falling behind 24-3 at halftime. Hill's role as a receiver when lined up at tight end has netted him a consistent 4.6 targets per game over the last five games, but he's still averaged just 7.9 yards per reception over this span. The 33-year-old will look to get more involved after the Saints next play following their Week 11.
Nov 5, 2023
Catches one TD, throws another
Hill rushed 11 times for 52 yards, caught four of five targets for 13 yards and a touchdown, and completed his only pass attempt for a three-yard touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
After being stuffed for a one-yard loss on a 2nd-and-goal run from the 1-yard line, Hill moved from under center to tight end and caught a two-yard touchdown on the next play. The next time the Saints got near the goal line, Hill threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Juwan Johnson. After failing to produce a touchdown through six games, Hill has three rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and one passing touchdown in his last three games. His significant role in the red zone will make Hill an appealing Week 10 fantasy option against Minnesota, especially in formats in which he's eligible at tight end.
Nov 3, 2023
Set to play Sunday
Hill (hip) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Bears, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints placed a cap on Hill's reps Wednesday and Thursday due to a hip injury, but it was lifted Friday, when he was able to log a full session. He's thus set to man his typical do-it-all role in New Orleans' offense versus a Chicago defense that has given up a league-worst 81.7 percent catch rate to opposing tight ends this season.
Nov 2, 2023
Remains limited Thursday
Hill (hip) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill is coming off his most-productive outing of the season Week 8 at Indianapolis, where he had nine carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns, tallied a 14-yard catch and completed one of two passes for 44 yards. With a hip injury impacting him this week, he may have to return to all on-field work Friday in order to avoid a designation for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Nov 1, 2023
Dealing with hip issue
Hill was limited in practice Wednesday due to a hip injury, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite dealing with a chest issue during Week 8 prep, Hill had a season-best performance this past Sunday at Indianapolis, notching nine carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns, hauling in his only target for 14 yards and completing one of two passes for 44 yards. Now that he's tending to a new health concern, his status will be one to monitor as the weekend approaches to get a sense of his odds to suit up Sunday versus the Bears.
Oct 29, 2023
Season-best outing in win
Hill logged nine carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns to go along with one catch (on one target) for 14 yards in Sunday's 38-27 defeat versus the Colts. He was also 1-for-2 passing for 44 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged multiple touchdowns for the first time this year as the Saints offense scored a season-high 38 points. The 33-year-old was heavily involved in the offense despite practicing with a non-contact jersey due to a chest issue heading into Sunday's game. He even hit season highs in passing yards and total yards, and he totaled 10 touches for the second time in the last three games. Hill also finished with a team high in rushing yards ahead of bell-cow back Alvin Kamara (59), and Hill has effectively served as the Saints' No. 2 rushing option when both players have been available this season. His extremely unique swiss-army-knife-style role in this offense should help him accumulate semi-noteworthy fantasy production moving forward.
Oct 29, 2023
Available Sunday
Hill (chest) is active for Sunday's game in Indianapolis, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After a week in which he donned a non-contact jersey on the practice field, Hill will attempt to play through the chest injury that's impacting him at the moment as expected, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. With the Saints' top tight end Juwan Johnson (calf) back in action for the first time since Week 3, Hill may be relegated to the snap share (13-to-41 percent) that he earned in the first three games of the campaign, when he turned 16 carries into 91 yards, hauled in two of four targets for eight yards and completed his only pass for eight yards.
Oct 29, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Hill (chest) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Colts, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill is officially listed as questionable coming off a week of practicing in a non-contact jersey, but he's expected to take the field in Indianapolis. His status will be made official 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Hill has drawn five and seven targets over the last two weeks, but those numbers stand to decline with fellow tight end Juwan Johnson cleared to return from a four-game absence.
Oct 27, 2023
Deemed questionable
Hill (chest) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been practicing in a non-contact jersey, while fellow tight end Juwan Johnson upgraded to full participation Friday and will return from a four-game absence this Sunday. The past two weeks featured the two largest target counts of Hill's career -- seven and five -- but he's unlikely to match those numbers with Johnson back in the fold. If he does indeed play, Hill likely will return to his normal role with a few carries and perhaps a target or two.
Oct 26, 2023
Remains limited Thursday
Hill (chest) was limited in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been donning a red non-contact jersey in practice so far during Week 8 prep as he deals with a chest injury, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. With back-to-back capped sessions in his back pocket, Hill has only one more chance to get back to all activity Friday, at which point he may enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game at Indianapolis. Meanwhile, fellow TEs Juwan Johnson (calf) and Jimmy Graham (illness) also were limited Thursday, creating a murky situation at the position for New Orleans.
Oct 25, 2023
Dealing with chest injury
Hill (chest) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's participation at the start of the week, even in a limited capacity, suggests he's more likely than not to play this Sunday against the Colts. His role, however, may be significantly different from the past few weeks with TE Juwan Johnson (calf) returning to practice Wednesday and potentially suiting up this Sunday after missing four straight games. Hill saw seven and five targets the past two weeks -- the first time(s) in his career with more than three in a single game.
Oct 20, 2023
Another busy night in loss
Hill secured four of five targets for 50 yards and rushed five times for 18 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 31-24 loss to the Jaguars on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Hill was efficient on his nine touches, and he scored his first rushing touchdown of the campaign on a one-yard run early in the fourth quarter. The 33-year-old has logged multiple carries in all but one game, and his receiving yardage total Thursday was a season high. Hill's boost in involvement as a receiver over the last two games (11-99 line on 13 targets) is certainly encouraging, and he'll have a good matchup in that regard against the Colts in a Week 8 interconference battle on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Catches seven passes in loss
Hill caught seven of eight targets for 49 yards during Sunday's 20-13 loss to Houston. He also rushed once for four yards and completed his lone passing attempt for two yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged his most productive receiving stat line of the season after totaling just four receptions (on six targets) for 16 yards coming into Sunday's loss. The swiss-army-knife tight end also served as a primary piece of New Orleans' receiving game, tying with running back Alvin Kamara and wideout Michael Thomas for the team's second-most targets behind Chris Olave (10). This was likely due in part to the absence of No. 1 tight end Juwan Johnson, who missed his third game in a row due to a calf injury. Fellow tight end Foster Moreau also logged season highs in receptions (four) and targets (four), so Hill's receiving production was likely due largely to the uncharacteristically high 50 passing attempts from quarterback Derek Carr. Expect Hill to continue playing a versatile role as a receiver, rusher and/or passer during the Week 7 contest against Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football.
Oct 8, 2023
Totals 20 yards in big win
Hill rushed three times for 19 yards and caught his lone target for one yard during Sunday's 34-0 win against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Hill fulfilled his usual jack-of-all-trades role in New Orleans' offense, including six plays where he lined up as a quarterback in the shotgun. The 33-year-old did not attempt a pass while behind center; instead, he was once again used as a wrinkle in the running game, either handing off to running back Alvin Kamara or rushing himself. The 221-pound quarterback tallied the Saints' third-most rushing attempts and yards behind Kamara (22 carries for 80 yards) and rookie Kendre Miller (12 carries for 37 yards). Hill's biggest impact this season has come while lined up at quarterback, tallying 23 carries for 120 yards through five games. Meanwhile, he's attempted just two passes while catching four of six targets for 16 yards. His value as a mobile quarterback still doesn't justify much relevance in fantasy lineups. He'll look to tally more carries Week 6 versus Houston.
Oct 1, 2023
Totals 30 yards Week 5
Hill was 1-for-1 passing for 13 yards during Sunday's 26-9 loss to Tampa Bay. He also netted 10 rushing yards on four carries and caught one pass for seven yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill was prominently featured during the first quarter, as he logged a passing attempt, reception and rushing attempt on the Saints' first offensive series. His role then faded until he lined up in the shotgun for three plays on a single drive during the third quarter, though he netted just four rushing yards due to a three-yard sack taken on first down. Overall, Hill's usage did not see a significant uptick despite Derek Carr playing through an AC joint sprain that he suffered during the Week 3 loss to Green Bay. Hill's workload could stand to increase if Carr does not suit up for the Week 5 road matchup against New England.
Sep 24, 2023
Little impact in loss
Hill rushed four times for 12 yards and caught his lone target for nine yards during Sunday's 18-17 defeat versus the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Hill's production regressed to the mean after his standout nine-carry, 75-yard performance last week against Carolina. The do-it-all offensive player only logged four carries with the Saints' top two running backs Alvin Kamara (suspension) and Jamaal Williams (hamstring) both sidelined Week 3. Hill saw slightly more snaps lined up in the shotgun after starting quarterback Derek Carr was forced out with a right shoulder injury in the third quarter; however, aside from a 14-yard carry that was wiped off the board due to an offensive holding penalty, the hybrid tight end/quarterback didn't make a significant impact while at quarterback for New Orleans. Instead, backup signal-caller Jameis Winston handled the team's passing duties for the remainder of the contest. There's now a chance that Carr will miss some time with what's believed to be an AC sprain, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. This should leave Winston to step in as the starting quarterback while Hill likely continues to fill a jack-of-all-trad

Gets in full practice Thursday
Hill (knee) practiced fully Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill opened Week 3 prep with a limited listing on Wednesday's practice estimate, but the knee injury that capped any potential reps didn't do so one day later, setting him up to be available for Sunday's game at Green Bay. The Saints appear as if they won't have the services of Jamaal Williams (hamstring) this weekend due to his lack of on-field work Wednesday and Thursday, which could give Hill another chance to for carries along with Tony Jones and rookie Kendre Miller (hamstring). In the Saints' Week 2 win at Carolina on Monday, Hill recorded nine rushes for 75 yards, gathered in one of two targets for minus-1 yard and completed his only pass for eight yards.
Sep 20, 2023
Dealing with knee issue
Hill was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated practice report due to a knee injury, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
After opening the season with just three carries for four yards and no catches on his only target Week 1 against the Titans, Hill was a much bigger part of the Saints offense Monday at Carolina, rushing nine times for 75 yards, hauling in one of two targets for minus-1 yard and completing his only pass for eight yards. The increased usage initially may have been game-plan specific, but Jamaal Williams' (hamstring) departure in the second quarter also played a role. With Williams likely to miss some time and Alvin Kamara still needing to serve one more game of his suspension, Hill may continue to mix into the backfield along with Tony Jones and potentially Kendre Miller (hamstring) in the short term, assuming his own knee injury doesn't hold him back.
Sep 18, 2023
Leading rusher in Week 2 win
Hill completed his only pass attempt for eight yards, rushed nine times for 75 yards and caught one of two targets for minus-1 yard in Monday's 20-17 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Hill accounted for 75 of the Saints' 134 rushing yards in a game that saw Jamaal Williams (hamstring) exit in the first half. Tony Jones replaced Williams and scored both of New Orleans' touchdowns, but Hill got some reps at running back in addition to his customary wildcat quarterback role. With Alvin Kamara still serving his three-game suspension and the availability of both Williams and Kendre Miller up in the air due to hamstring injuries, the versatile Hill could find himself playing an outsized role in New Orleans' running game again in Week 3 against the Packers.
Sep 10, 2023
Plays rushing role Sunday
Hill rushed three times for four yards and failed to haul in his lone target during Sunday's 16-15 victory versus Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Hill was utilized in his usual versatile role on both special teams and offense, including lining up at both quarterback and tight end. The 33-year-old did not attempt while lined up in the shotgun Sunday; instead, he served as a change-of-pace rushing threat with running backs Alvin Kamara (suspension) and Kendre Miller (hamstring) both out. Hill took three direct snaps for rushing attempts during the second half, thus tying with starting quarterback Derek Carr for the Saints' second-most rushing attempts behind running back Jamaal Williams (18). Hill will likely continue to help pick up wherever he's needed most week-to-week in the Saints' offense, which could leave him with a bigger role in the running game until Kamara returns from suspension Week 5.
Sep 6, 2023
Cleared from injury report
Hill (oblique) was absent from the Saints' injury report Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was dealing with a strained oblique he sustained during training camp but will go into Week 1 against the Titans with no injury designation. He will continue to serve a diverse, jack-of-all-trades role in a Saints offense that will miss running back Alvin Kamara (suspension) for the first three weeks of the season.
Sep 5, 2023
Listed as QB heading into Week 1
The Saints list Hill (oblique) as their No. 3 quarterback -- and not as a tight end -- on their unofficial depth chart ahead of Sunday's season opener versus the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Hill had been listed as a tight end during the 2022 season and throughout the summer, but the Saints flipped his position designation to quarterback Monday in a move that head coach Dennis Allen characterized as "more of a clerical thing," per John Sigler of USA Today reports. The positional change probably won't dramatically affect how the Saints choose to use Hill; Allen pointed out Monday that despite being listed as a tight end last season, the 33-year-old still saw more than half of his snaps at quarterbacks and ended up taking 96 carries and attempting 19 passes while drawing only 13 targets as a receiver. However, the change could have a more dramatic effect on Hill's fantasy outlook depending on how site providers choose to designate him. If still listed as a tight end, Hill would have some utility in deeper leagues with multiple flex spots, given the uncommon rushing production he offers relative to other tight ends. Moreover, with top back Alvin Kamara serving a three-game suspension to begin the se

Strains oblique Tuesday
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that Hill suffered a minor oblique strain during practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill dealt with a persistent rib issue through the first six weeks of last season, though he still missed just one game all season when he sat out Week 3 due to that injury. Allen also mentioned that he doesn't expect the 32-year-old's oblique strain will be anything serious, likely indicating that it's an isolated incident rather than anything related to a previous injury concern. Hill played just 15 total snaps in Sunday's 26-24 preseason win versus the Chiefs, and it's likely that he'll continue to see relatively limited playing time whether or not he overcomes this oblique strain before Sunday's preseason contest against the Chargers.

Could catch more passes?
Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said in June that he'd like to use Hill more as a pass catcher this year, ESPN's Kat Terrell reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill had a 19-234-6 receiving line back in 2019 but has combined for only 21-227-3 in three subsequent seasons, instead doing the vast majority of his damage as a ballcarrier, including last year's career highs for carries (96) and rushing yards (575). While he isn't going to become a high-volume receiver in his age-33 season, Hill still has a degree of fantasy appeal thanks to a unique role in which he gets more playing time near the goal line and sometimes throws passes rather than running routes or carrying the ball. It makes him an option for best ball, if nothing else, though the ceiling scenario of QB starts with TE fantasy eligibility is further away than ever after the Saints signed Derek Carr and retained Jameis Winston.

Adjusts contract details
Hill restructured his contract Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The move, coupled with a restructuring of linebacker Demario Davis' contract, gives the Saints close to $13 million in cap space. Despite playing in four more games this season, Hill saw almost 100 less offensive snaps than 2021, but he still set a career high in total yards (652), specifically emerging as a dangerous ball carrier to the tune of 6.0 yards per carry (on 96 attempts). The Saints are expected to be in the hunt for one of the top quarterbacks on the open market meaning Hill likely will continue to operate in his super utility role moving forward.
Jan 8, 2023
Subdued outing Week 18
Hill recorded five carries for 24 yards and hauled in his only target for one yard during Sunday's 10-7 defeat versus Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Hill saw a downturn in workload during Sunday's regular-season finale, as he logged his fewest number of touches since the Week 13 loss to Tampa Bay. The 32-year-old was limited by a back injury during Week 18 prep, so it's possible that issue could have affected his usage. Hill finishes the 2022 campaign with career lows as a passer, completing 13 of 19 attempts for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Instead, his versatile role on offense shifted distinctly toward the ground game, as he recorded career highs in carries (96) and rushing yards (575) to go along with seven rushing touchdowns. He also collected nine receptions (on 13 targets) for 77 yards and two touchdowns, and his 11 total touchdowns are the second-most of any season in his six-year career. With the Saints lacking both a clear starting quarterback and No. 2 running back heading into the offseason, Hill seems poised to continue serving as a key component of the team's offense in 2023.
Jan 8, 2023
Active Sunday
Hill (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill experienced a cap on his practice reps Wednesday through Friday due to a back issue and exited Week 18 prep as questionable to suit up Sunday. With his availability now confirmed, he can continue his typical gadget role in the Saints offense, which involves far more work on the ground than any other aspect at this point in his career. In 15 appearances this season, Hill has reeled off 6.1 YPC and seven touchdowns on his 91 rushes, but he's also added a pair of scores as both a passer and receiver.
Jan 6, 2023
Deemed questionable for Week 18
The Saints list Hill (back) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Hill and fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (quadriceps) are both taking questionable tags into the weekend, though the two fill wildly different roles in the New Orleans offense despite being listed as position mates. While Johnson serves as the Saints' top pass catcher at the position, Hill is a more versatile weapon for New Orleans, with most of his opportunities of late coming as the de facto top backup to starting running back Alvin Kamara. If Hill is cleared to play through his back issue, he'll likely be in store for a handful of carries behind Kamara and could see some occasional reps as a goal-line or short-yardage quarterback.
Jan 5, 2023
Limited in practice again
Hill (back) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Hill maintained limited activity in practice for the second straight day, but Saints head coach Dennis Allen hasn't yet indicated that the versatile 32-year-old is a candidate to sit out Sunday's season finale against the Panthers. Before the Saints decide whether to give Hill an injury designation for the weekend, they will see what he can do at Friday's practice. If he suits up for the season finale, Hill will essentially serve as the Saints' backup running back behind Alvin Kamara. Despite being listed as tight end, Hill took a season-high 14 carries in last week's upset win over the Eagles.
Jan 4, 2023
Limited with back injury
Hill (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
It's a new injury for the versatile 32-year-old, following a season-high 14 carries (for 46 yards and a TD) in Sunday's 20-10 upset win over the Eagles. Both teams figure to prioritize the run game in Sunday's matchup between the Panthers and Saints, with Hill serving as the de facto No. 2 RB for New Orleans if he's able to play through the back injury.
Jan 2, 2023
Heavily involved in offense
Hill rushed the ball 14 times for 46 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Eagles. He added one reception on one target for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill has seen his involvement as a rusher tick up in recent weeks in the absence of Mark Ingram (knee), and that continued in Sunday's win. He had only two rushing attempts fewer than Alvin Kamara, and his day was highlighted by a one-yard touchdown plunge midway through the first quarter. Otherwise, his performance was unremarkable, as he averaged only 3.3 yards per attempt. Nevertheless, the Saints have shown a desire to keep Hill involved in the offense and that is unlikely to change in a Week 18 matchup against the Panthers.
Dec 24, 2022
Helps power rushing win
Hill logged nine carries for 56 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 17-10 victory over the Browns. He did record a target or passing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Hill played a primary role in this comeback effort during Saturday's brutally cold and windy conditions. After struggling to establish any consistency with its banged-up receiving corps, New Orleans turned to an option running game between Hill and running back Alvin Kamara. Hill totaled 27 yards on his first two carries in the second quarter, and he went on to finish his most carries in a game since the Week 8 win over Las Vegas. This included an eight-yard rushing touchdown through the middle of Cleveland's defense to tie the game 10-10 early in the third quarter. While Hill's increased usage was largely due to the unique conditions of Saturday's game, New Orleans' recent success with its rushing game could lead to an increased role for Hill over the final two games of the regular season.
Dec 23, 2022
Could benefit from poor weather
Hill may be in store for more carries than usual in Saturday's game against the Browns due to a forecast in Cleveland that includes frigid temperatures and sustained winds of almost 30 miles per hour, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Hill is listed as tight end on the Saints' official roster, he continues to be deployed in a variety of ways on offense. In last week's win over the Falcons, he completed a 68-yard touchdown pass and added another 12-yard completion, but Hill saw his most involvement on the ground, carrying seven times for 30 yards. With New Orleans down two key receivers in Chris Olave (hamstring) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) and with the heavy winds likely to affect the passing game, the Saints may have even more incentive than usual to lean on the Alvin Kamara-led ground game. Kamara logged 21 carries of his own in the Week 15 win, but there were still some touches left over for Hill, who essentially acted as the Saints' top backup running back in the contest. The Saints left Eno Benjamin on the inactive list last week, while David Johnson carried just four times behind Kamara and Hill and lost a fumble.
Dec 18, 2022
Completes long passing TD
Hill logged seven rushes for 30 yards and tallied zero targets during Sunday's 21-18 victory over the Falcons. He also completed both of his passing attempts for 80 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Hill launched a 33-yard pass down the middle of the field to wideout Rasheed Shaheed, resulting in a 68-yard touchdown in the first quarter. This marked the Saints' longest play from scrimmage in 2022 as well as Hill's biggest impact as a passer dating back to last year's regular-season finale. The hybrid offensive player made up for his lack of involvement as a receiver, as he continued to serve as a rushing threat while lined up at quarterback. Hill did put the ball on the turf during a fourth-down attempt that would have iced the game with just 12 seconds remaining. But he managed to jump on this fumble for a turnover on downs rather than giving up a potential scoop and score. Hill's fantasy upside could continue to climb if he remains involved as a passer against Cleveland in Week 16.
Dec 6, 2022
Scores in MNF
Hill hauled in two of three targets for 35 yards and one touchdown to go along with three rushes for 10 yards during Monday's 17-16 loss versus the Buccaneers. He also completed his lone passing attempt for 21 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill caught the Saints' lone touchdown of the game, as he got behind the Buccaneers' defense for a 30-yard score in the second quarter. The all-purpose player also contributed as a rusher, receiver and passer in this relatively solid outing for New Orleans' offense. This was Hill's first game with a touchdown since Week 7 against Arizona, and his untraditional usage still makes it difficult to predict his value week to week. However, his production often comes and goes with the Saints' overall success on offense, and this banged-up squad will have additional time to rest and recover while on bye Week 14.
Nov 27, 2022
Limited production in loss
Hill rushed six times for 13 yards, caught one pass for seven yards and failed to complete his lone pass attempt in Sunday's 13-0 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Hill was denied by the 49ers' stout defense anytime the versatile player was called upon. The seven touches were nice from the tight-end eligible fantasy asset, but everyone struggled offensively with the Saints being shut out for the first time since 2002. Hill has the ability to pop off for crooked fantasy totals, but his recent stretch of stinkers really highlights the boom-or-bust nature of his utility. The Swiss army knife will look to get his season back on track in an important matchup against the Buccaneers next Monday.
Nov 20, 2022
Regains versatile role
Hill tallied nine rushes for 52 yards and reeled in his only target for eight yards during Sunday's 27-20 win over the Rams. He also completed one of three passes for 14 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill returned to form coming off his two least productive outings of the season. After totaling just two touches for seven yards since Week 8, the 32-year-old finished as the Saints' leading rusher ahead of running back Alvin Kamara in Week 11. Hill also secured his fifth catch of the season as quarterback Andy Dalton, whose starting job has come under much scrutiny recently, went 21-for-25 passing for 260 yards and three touchdowns against the Rams. While the versatile Hill got involved in the passing game once again, he was sacked on one of his four drop backs. Hill's production should continue to benefit if the Saints can stack up another solid offensive performance against the 49ers on Sunday, Nov. 27.
Nov 14, 2022
Disappears in loss
Hill compiled three rushes for one yard and zero targets during Sunday's 20-10 loss against the Steelers. He also failed to complete his lone passing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Hill was a nonfactor for the second week in a row as New Orleans' offense continued to sputter against the Steelers. After logging a season-high 10 rushes and two targets in Week 9, the 32-year-old has accumulated seven yards on four touches over the past two games. The Saints also totaled just 29 team rushing yards with three of five starting offensive lineman injured either before or during Sunday's game. While it's hard to separate Hill's lack of production from these broader offensive struggles, this stretch of sparse usage is a discouraging sign for his value heading into next Sunday's game against the Rams.
Nov 8, 2022
Lacks involvement in loss
Hill had one rush for six yards and failed to haul in his lone target during Monday's 27-13 loss against Baltimore. He also completed one pass for 13 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged his least productive outing of 2022, as the Saints gained just 243 total yards while running 49 plays against the Ravens' tough defense. The quarterback-tight-end hybrid totaled fewer than four touches in the receiving and rushing game for the first time this season, and he did not attempt a pass until New Orleans was already down 17-3 in the third quarter. Hill could play a bigger role if the Saints opt to take the ball out of quarterback Andy Dalton's hands more against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Oct 30, 2022
Effective on ground
Hill rushed 10 times for 61 yards and caught one of two targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Raiders. He also completed his only passing attempt for two yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill filled his patented jack-of-all-trades role, gaining yards as a runner, receiver and passer. With the Saints winning comfortably, Hill garnered a season high in rushing attempts despite starting tailback Alvin Kamara scoring three times overall. With a difficult Monday night matchup versus the Ravens looming in Week 9, Hill's versatility could help the Saints move the ball.
Oct 21, 2022
Multi-faceted role in loss
Hill completed both of his pass attempts for 48 yards, rushed three times for nine yards and secured his only target for a three-yard touchdown in the Saints' 42-34 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Hill turned in another trademark performance that saw him involved in all three phases of offense. The versatile veteran was able to also find the end zone as a receiver on a three-yard touchdown grab early in the second quarter, giving him his first score in that capacity since 2020. Irrespective of whether it's Andy Dalton or Jameis Winston under center for New Orleans, it appears head coach Dennis Allen will continue to deploy Hill in the versatile role that's worked well in nearly every game thus far, although his typically limited touches always have the potential to cap his value.
Oct 16, 2022
Involved on nine offensive plays
Hill (ribs) rushed five times for 39 yards and completed two of four pass attempts for 16 yards in Sunday's 30-26 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Hill was limited by a rib injury at practice this week, but he was able to suit up and provide his unorthodox blend of statistics. The 32-year-old fell back to earth after a monster four-touchdown performance in Week 5, as he was keyed in on defensively whenever he set foot on the field. The Saints appear set on having a traditional pocket quarterback under center (either Andy Dalton or Jameis Winston), while keeping Hill limited to specific packages and limited touches heading into a matchup against Arizona on Thursday.
Oct 13, 2022
Puts in full practice Thursday
Hill (ribs) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from having practice limitations Wednesday, Hill again was running on all cylinders on the field. He thus seems poised to be a big part of the Saints offense Sunday against the Bengals, as both Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) were non-participants, while Chris Olave (concussion) was limited. If the team's receiving corps remains banged-up this weekend, New Orleans again may be run-focused, allowing Hill to be heavily involved alongside Alvin Kamara.
Oct 12, 2022
Dealing with minor rib injury
Hill (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Hill was listed with the same injury last week and ended up running for three touchdowns and passing for a fourth. He even picked up 112 yards on nine carries, after taking no more than five carries in each of his first three games this season. Hill is unlikely to match the Week 5 eruption anytime soon, but the red-zone-heavy rushing work is enough to give him some value in formats where he's classified as a tight end (rather than a quarterback).
Oct 9, 2022
Four total touchdowns
Hill rushed the ball nine times for 112 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 39-32 win over the Seahawks. He also completed his lone pass attempt for 22 yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
Hill took advantage of Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (groin) being inactive to emerge as one of New Orleans' key playmakers. He accounted for four of the team's five touchdowns, with rushing scores coming from eight, nine and 60 yards away. Hill also delivered on his lone pass attempt when he hit Adam Trautman down the seam for a 22-yard score late in the third quarter. Prior to Sunday's game, Hill had 13 total offensive touches across three games, though this performance might force the coaching staff to get him more involved on a regular basis.
Oct 6, 2022
Full practice Thursday
Hill (ribs) practiced fully Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
With Jameis Winston's status in limbo due to back and ankle injuries, Hill is in line to serve as the backup quarterback to Andy Dalton as long as Winston is unavailable. Winston hasn't practiced since Week 3 prep, and his status for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks may gain clarity as soon as Friday. Hill has yet to throw a pass in three games this season, instead rushing 12 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns and hauling in his only target for two yards.
Oct 5, 2022
Limited with rib injury
Hill (ribs) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
His ability to practice in any capacity at the beginning of the week bodes well for his chances of playing Sunday against the Seahawks. Hill has scored rushing TDs in two of his three appearances this year, but he's yet to top five touches or 16 snaps in a game.
Oct 2, 2022
Reaches end zone
Hill rushed the ball five times for 21 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-25 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Hill was designated as the backup quarterback with Jameis Winston (hip/back/ankle) sidelined, but he got involved in the game as a rusher with Alvin Kamara (ribs) also sidelined. He did the majority of his damage on a pair of drives, with his primary damage coming on a drive early in the fourth quarter when he tallied a rush of 13 yards and also plunged into the end zone for a two-yard score. Hill should continue to get work as a gadget player, particularly if the Saints remain without Kamara, Winston and Michael Thomas (foot).
Sep 30, 2022
Set to serve as backup QB
Jameis Winston (back/ankle/hip) is doubtful for Sunday's matchup against the Saints in London, so Andy Dalton is expected to draw the start, leaving Hill as the backup quarterback, Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill missed Week 3 due to a rib issue and was limited in practices Wednesday and Thursday, but he was a full participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Week 4. During his limited sessions, Hill was mixed in as the second-string quarterback, while Dalton handled the first-team reps. Dalton would be the primary signal caller if Winston is indeed ruled out, but the versatile Hill, along with his usual special-team duties and occasional snaps at tight end, may have a few designed plays at quarterback as well.
Sep 29, 2022
Limited once again in practice
Hill (rib) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
For the second day in a row, Hill had his reps capped in practice and worked as the second-string quarterback while Andy Dalton directed the first-team offense in the absence of Jameis Winston (back/ankle/hip), according to Jeff Duncan of The Athletic. Even if Winston's injuries prevent him from playing Sunday in London against the Vikings, Dalton would be in store for the majority of reps under center, though Hill could see some snaps on designed runs. The versatile Hill would also be available to contribute on special teams and serve as a depth option at tight end.
Sep 28, 2022
Limited in practice
Hill (ribs) was limited in Wednesday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's rib injury prevented him from suiting up Week 3, but he was able to handle second-team reps Wednesday while starter Jameis Winston (back/ankle) sat out. If Winston has to miss time, Hill would be asked to handle the No. 2 role behind Andy Dalton, assuming he returns to health in time for Sunday's contest against the Vikings.
Sep 25, 2022
Sitting out Sunday
Hill (ribs) is listed as inactive Sunday in Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Prior to receiving a questionable designation for Week 3 on Friday, Hill was a limited participant in all three practices. As Sunday dawned, though, it was revealed he wasn't in line to play this weekend, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. With Hill's status as out confirmed, his next chance to play will arrive Sunday, Oct. 2 against the Vikings.
Sep 25, 2022
Not expected to play Sunday
Hill (ribs) is not expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's official status will be revealed prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but it looks as though the versatile playmaker is not expected to face Carolina. On a positive note for the Saints, both Jameis Winston (back/ankle) and Alvin Kamara (ribs) are expected to go Sunday.
Sep 23, 2022
Listed as questionable
Hill (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was limited in all three of the Saints' practices during the week. If the versatile Hill suits up, he potentially could get a few more opportunities to throw or run the ball depending on the availability of Jameis Winston (back/ankle) and Alvin Kamara (ribs), who both are questionable as well.
Sep 22, 2022
Limited practice again Thursday
Hill (ribs) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
While a rib injury is never the greatest thing for a rugged runner like Hill, the fact that he was a limited practice participant both Wednesday and Thursday sets him on a reasonably good track to play his usual off-the-bench role against Carolina on Sunday.
Sep 21, 2022
Tending to rib injury
Hill (ribs) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Hill has stuck to a gadget role through the first two contests of this season, hauling in his only target for two yards while taking seven carries for 95 yards and one touchdown. His snap count on offense dropped from 15 to six from Weeks 1 to 2, and he now is dealing with a rib injury. As a result, Hill's activity level bears watching as the weekend draws closer.
Sep 19, 2022
Only three touches in Week 2
Hill rushed three times for 14 yards and finished without a passing attempt or target in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
It was surprising that Hill wasn't leaned on more given the absence of running back Alvin Kamara (ribs) and Jameis Winston's struggles passing (1:3 TD:INT). While Hill''s eligibility at tight end in some formats makes him an intriguing fantasy option, it will be tough for him to produce consistently given his limited touches -- Hill has seven rushing attempts, one catch on two targets and no passing attempts on the season heading into a Week 3 road game against the Panthers.
Sep 12, 2022
Makes most of limited touches
Hill ran four times for 81 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for two yards during Sunday's 27-26 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Hill's first touch of the game came on the Saints' second offensive drive and went for 57 yards. Two plays later, he finished the job with an 11-yard touchdown run. The do-it-all weapon got a chance to be the Saints' starting quarterback last year, but with Jameis Winston back to full strength, he's been relegated to his change-of-pace role, which may be what suits his skillset best.
Aug 26, 2022
Not in line to play Friday
Hill isn't slated to play in Friday's preseason contest against the Chargers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Hill and Adam Trautman weren't seen in uniform ahead of Friday's outing, meaning Nick Vannett, Juwan Johnson, J.P. Holtz and Lucas Krull will be the Saints' available tight ends Friday. Hill will be limited to one appearance during exhibition season, as he dealt with bruised ribs at the start of training camp that held him out of preseason Week 1. On nine offensive snaps last Friday at Green Bay, he hauled in one of two targets for 10 yards.
Aug 20, 2022
Tallies first preseason catch
Hill recorded one reception on two targets for 10 yards in Friday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Hill managed to make his preseason debut Friday after dealing with a series of injuries this offseason, starting with surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury. He subsequently bruised his ribs at the start of training camp and was sidelined for several days. He didn't make a significant impact on the game Friday, but was on the field with the offensive unit that began the game and should compete for reps with Adam Trautman to begin the season.
Aug 9, 2022
Adapting to new role
Hill (ribs) is adjusting to more of a tight end role as he rehabs from the lisfranc injury he suffered late last season, Michael Hull of NewOrleansSaints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He was still wearing a non-contact jersey during Tuesday's practice as he also recovers from a less serious issue with his ribs that cropped up a little over a week ago. Hill was called on to make four starts at quarterback late last season after Jameis Winston tore his ACL in Week 8, with mixed results. Now that Winston is more than nine months removed from his injury and the team added veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton this offseason, it seems unlikely Hill will need to start under center again in 2022. He's working primarily as a tight end now, which means he'll compete with Adam Trautman to be on the receiving end of passes rather than on the delivering end. It still wouldn't be surprising to see Hill take some wildcat snaps around the goal-line though, making him an interesting bench stash in deeper leagues.
Aug 4, 2022
Returns to individual drills
Hill (ribs) did individual work at Thursday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This confirms his rib injury isn't too serious, though it's now cost him a full week of practice. Hill is mostly focusing on tight end this year, though coach Dennis Allen recently said Hill will still take some snaps at QB as well.
Jul 29, 2022
Injures ribs
After absorbing a hit to the ribs Thursday, Hill is in line to miss some time, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Hill has moved past a Lisfranc injury to his left foot, he'll now be sidelined for an indefinite period of time with a rib issue. When healthy, the versatile 31-year-old will look to carve out a role in a New Orleans tight end corps that also includes Adam Trautman, Nick Vannett, Juwan Johnson and Lucas Krull, among others.
Jul 26, 2022
Ready for training camp
Hill (foot) is "ready to go" for training camp, according to Saints GM Mickey Loomis.
ANALYSIS
With Hill evidently having moved past his left Lisfranc injury, the versatile 31-year-old will now look to secure a role in the Saints offense, presumably primarily as a tight end, while Jameis Winston (knee), Andy Dalton and Ian Book handle the team's QB duties.
Jun 15, 2022
Rehabbing during minicamp
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Hill (foot) is rehabbing at the team facility during minicamp, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was expected to miss 6-to-9 months following January surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, which would put his return timetable close to Week 1. The dynamic playmaker is expected to focus solely on the tight end spot in 2022 after former head coach Sean Payton experimented with him as a dual-threat QB. When healthy, Hill will compete with Adam Trautman, Nick Vannett and Juwan Johnson for snaps.
Mar 29, 2022
Focusing on TE position
Coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that the plan is for Hill (foot) to "focus" on playing tight end, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints' new coaching staff doesn't appear as intrigued with Hill's potential as a dual-threat quarterback as Sean Payton once was. This offseason, it appears that Hill will return to a familiar gadget role that primarily involves taking snaps as a tight end. Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate recently reported that Hill, who is recovering from left foot surgery to address as Lisfranc injury, was never in the mix for the starting quarterback gig this offseason, and the team has since re-signed Jameis Winston (knee). What remains to be seen is whether Hill could still operate as a backup quarterback, or if his time under center has run its course entirely for New Orleans.
Mar 14, 2022
Not in mix for starting job
The idea of Hill (foot) competing for the Saints' starting job at quarterback has "run its course," Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate reports.
ANALYSIS
Given the 6-to-9 month timeline to recover from his Lisfranc injury, Hill was not even certain to be ready for the start of 2022 campaign anyway. However, it appears the Sean Payton-led Hill experiment may be over regardless with Payton now retired. Not only did New Orleans find limited success with Hill as a starter, but he could hardly hold up to increased usage in a part-time role given the laundry list of injuries he dealt with last season. Instead, it seems that Hill will go back to being used as the position-flexible gadget player we've seen before thanks to the return of offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael. Meanwhile, the Saints will likely explore different options for its starting signal caller, including a possible reunion with Jameis Winston (knee).
Jan 15, 2022
Long recovery on tap
Hill is expected to need six -to-nine months of recovery following surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's important to note the Saints have not officially announced a recovery timeline, but given the nature of previous Lisfranc injuries, the aforementioned timeframe is a fair guess. Hill will undergo two separate surgeries this offseason in order to repair the injury with the latter likely occurring sometime after the 2022 NFL Draft. The 31-year-old dual-threat quarterback did start the year behind Jameis Winston, but after the 2015 No. 1 overall pick tore his ACL in Week 8, Hill eventually took over as the starter. Provided the Saints bring back Winston, who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, expect the duo to once again compete for the starting honors to begin the 2022 season.
Jan 10, 2022
Requires surgery
Hill (foot) will require surgery to repair his Lisfranc injury, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill suffered his foot injury during Sunday's Week 18 matchup against Atlanta and will undergo surgery to repair the issue before undergoing a second procedure to remove the hardware from his foot. Coach Sean Payton said Monday that he didn't yet have a timetable for the quarterback's recovery. The 31-year-old completed 78 of 134 passes for 978 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing 70 times for 374 yards and five touchdowns across 12 appearances in 2021, and he finished the season as the team's starter. He was rewarded with a four-year extension in November, but Payton declined to reveal the team's plans at quarterback in 2022 during Monday's press conference.
Jan 9, 2022
Injures foot in Week 18
Hill sustained a foot injury during Sunday's contest in Atlanta, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
As the Saints returned to the field from halftime, coach Sean Payton told Laura Okmin on the Fox broadcast that Hill has a Lisfranc injury. Payton also relayed, "If he can go, he will go." Hill wasn't spotted on the sideline to begin the third quarter, and Trevor Siemian remained under center, so it's unclear if Hill actually will get a chance to return. Assuming Hill doesn't, he'll finish Week 18 having completed seven of nine passes for 107 yards and one touchdown and logging five carries for 18 yards.
Jan 9, 2022
Exits Sunday's game early
Hill left Sunday's game in Atlanta with an undisclosed injury, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill went down awkwardly on a short run in the second quarter, and after attempting to get up he sat on the turf for a spell before making his way to the sideline tent. He then walked slowly to the locker room with his right shoe in his hand, per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network. The nature of Hill's health concern is unknown, but Trevor Siemian took over quarterback duties in his stead.
Jan 2, 2022
Quiet in Sunday's win
Hill completed 17 of 28 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown and added 45 rushing yards on 12 carries in Sunday's 18-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The QB was the Saints' leading rusher on the afternoon, but it was still a modest performance from a fantasy perspective as the team once again relied on its defense for a victory. Hill will look to end his regular season on a high note, and potentially even lead New Orleans into the playoffs, in Week 18 against the Falcons.
Dec 29, 2021
Comes off COVID-19 list
The Saints activated Hill (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering this activation occurred two days after the Saints' last game Monday against the Dolphins, Hill wasn't particularly close to gaining clearance to play Week 16. Trevor Siemian (illness) also came off the COVID-19 list Wednesday, setting him up to act as the No. 2 quarterback on New Orleans' active roster and pushing rookie Ian Book to his usual spot as the third signal-caller. Hill will resume working with the first-team offense in advance of Sunday's contest versus the Panthers.
Dec 27, 2021
Not activated, won't play Monday
The Saints didn't activate Hill (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list, making him ineligible to play Monday against the Dolphins, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for Trevor Siemian (illness), which hands Ian Book his first NFL start. Behind Book, Blake Bortles has been elevated from the practice squad to serve as the Saints' backup quarterback for Week 16. Hill's next chance to play is Sunday against the Panthers.
Dec 23, 2021
Goes on COVID-19 list
The Saints placed Hill (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill was one of nine New Orleans players added to the list Thursday, all the result of positive COVID-19 tests, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. If Hill is vaccinated and asymptomatic, he'll be eligible to play Monday against the Dolphins, but the Saints already seem to be proceeding as though neither he nor top backup Trevor Siemian (illness) will be available to return from the list Week 16. That leaves rookie fourth-round pick Ian Book as the likely candidate to start in his NFL debut Monday night, in a game that has major playoff implications for both the Saints and the Dolphins.
Dec 23, 2021
Tests positive for COVID-19
The Saints aren't planning on having Hill available for Monday's game against the Dolphins after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans is expected to formally move Hill to the reserve/COVID-19 list later Thursday along with top backup Trevor Siemian, who also tested positive for the virus. Though both Hill and Siemian, if vaccinated, could theoretically clear the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocols in advance of Monday, the Saints are seemingly preparing as though neither quarterback will be available. Ian Book is slated to take all the first-team reps in practices Thursday through Saturday as he prepares to make his NFL debut in a starting role. Like Hill, Book boasts above-average running ability, which could help the offense maintain some continuity as it makes room for its fourth different starting quarterback of the season.
Dec 23, 2021
Set for COVID-19 list, likely out
The Saints plan to place Hill on the reserve/COVID-19 list later Thursday and aren't planning on him being available for Monday's game against the Dolphins, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Jeff Duncan of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported earlier Thursday that Hill's top backup, Trevor Siemian, tested positive for the virus and is also likely to be placed on the list. Neither Hill nor Siemian is expected to clear the necessary protocols in advance of Monday's game, though in Hill's case, it's not yet known whether he tested positive or was deemed an unvaccinated close contact of an infected person. In any case, Ian Book will take the first-team reps in practices Thursday through Saturday as he prepares not only for his first career start, but for his NFL debut. Hill's expected absence for the fantasy playoffs is a tough break for his managers, as he had been a strong producer in his three starts with 197.6 passing yards and 69 rushing yards per game to go with two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores over than span.
Dec 20, 2021
Leads team in upset victory
Hill completed 13 of 27 pass attempts for 154 yards and rushed 11 times for 33 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers in Sunday's 9-0 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Hill led a slow-plodding offense behind a banged-up offensive line to an upset victory over Tom Brady and Co. Unfortunately for his fantasy managers, the 30-year-old was unable to replicate the strong rushing numbers from his last two contests (22-174-2) to offset his poor passing totals. Hill will look to get back on track from a fantasy perspective in a matchup with playoff implications against Miami next Monday.
Dec 12, 2021
Runs in two late TDs
Hill completed 15 of 21 passes for 175 yards while rushing 11 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-9 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The Saints rode Alvin Kamara (knee) in the star running back's return, but Hill got in on the fun with a two-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. That score gave the Saints an insurmountable 23-6 lead, but Hill wasn't done, scoring again on a 44-yard run with 1:07 remaining. He was on pace for an unremarkable performance prior to the pair of late touchdown runs, and Hill's upside as a passer will remain limited in Week 15 against the Buccaneers due to the Saints' lack of receiving weapons, but his rushing ability will keep Hill fantasy-relevant.
Dec 10, 2021
To start Sunday
Hill (finger) will start Sunday's road game against the Jets, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill emerged from the Saints' Week 13 loss to the Cowboys with an injured middle finger on his throwing hand. He played through what was termed mallet finger, but his accuracy was lacking to the eventual tune of 19-for-41 passing for 264 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. He was his dynamic self on the ground, though, with 11 carries for 101 yards. Hill will welcome Alvin Kamara (knee) back to the lineup after a four-game absence, but the offense will be without Mark Ingram (COVID-19 list), Deonte Harris (suspension), Ty Montgomery (COVID-19 list) and potentially Lil'Jordan Humphrey (hamstring). Fortunately for Hill, he'll get to face the Jets' 32nd-ranked overall defense, which is 29th against the pass (263.4 yards per game).
Dec 8, 2021
Full practice Wednesday
Hill (finger) practiced in full Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
During last Thursday's loss to the Cowboys, Hill slammed his right middle finger on the arm of a Dallas defender while following through on a throw. While he was able to gut through it and play all 69 offensive snaps, his performance was below par, as he completed 19 of 41 passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. Fortunately, Hill's mobility salvaged his day on the fantasy front, with his 11 carries going for 101 yards. Coach Sean Payton told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Wednesday that Hill will start Sunday at the Jets, if he's healthy. But Hill will do so with a split as he manages what has been diagnosed as mallet finger, per Underhill.
Dec 3, 2021
No surgery, plans to play
Hill (finger) isn't expected to need surgery and will attempt to play through an injury known as mallet finger on his throwing hand, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It's reportedly not as severe as Russell Wilson's mallet finger earlier this year. That doesn't necessarily mean Hill will be successful -- he did throw four INTs in Thursday's loss to Dallas after injuring his hand -- but he'll at least attempt to continue playing, presumably as the starting QB. It is possible he could move back to his non-QB role if that doesn't work out, in which case Trevor Siemian would step back in under center. For fantasy purposes, Hill mostly provides value with his feet, but it's still not ideal to add another limitation to his passing. It does sound like he's tentatively on track for another start at QB in Week 14 at the Jets, benefitting from extra rest after the TNF loss to Dallas.
Dec 3, 2021
May need finger surgery
Hill is believed to have torn a tendon in the middle finger of his throwing hand, with the injury potentially requiring surgery at some point, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It isn't clear if Hill would get surgery soon or try to play through the injury and wait until the offseason. He's reportedly scheduled for more tests, after playing through the injury in the majority of Thursday's 27-17 loss to the Cowboys. The initial belief is that he may have "mallet finger", similar to the injury Seahawks QB Russell Wilson dealt with earlier this year.
Dec 2, 2021
Too many turnovers in loss
Hill completed 19 of 41 passes for 264 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions in the Saints' 27-17 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night. He also rushed 11 times for 101 yards.
ANALYSIS
Hill played serviceably as a passer for significant swaths of the contest, and his work on the ground was outstanding, especially in the absence of Alvin Kamara (knee). However, the BYU product, understandably rusty after not having drawn a start under center all season, short-circuited too many drives, particularly in the second half, with his errant throws. Three of the four picks Hill threw came in consecutive possessions during the fourth quarter, with the final one a pick-six with 2:52 remaining that essentially put the game out of reach for New Orleans. Hill did manage to dress up his overall fantasy line one last time with a 70-yard touchdown pass to Deonte Harris with 2:32 remaining, his second scoring toss since Week 14 of last season. Despite the turnover-laden performance, Hill figures to be back under center for a more favorable Week 14 visit to the Jets a week from Sunday.
Dec 1, 2021
Named starting QB for Thursday
Hill is slated to be the Saints' starting quarterback Thursday against the Cowboys, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill revealed Tuesday that the foot injury he's dealt with of late is a partial tear in his plantar fascia, according to Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. As a result of the issue, Hill has been kept on the sideline the past two contests as an emergency option, but he's poised for his first game action since Week 10 and first start of the campaign, replacing Trevor Siemian in the process. In four spot starts in place of Drew Brees last season, Hill completed 71.9 percent of his passes for 208.5 yards per game, tossed four touchdowns versus two interceptions and recorded 39 carries for 209 yards and four TDs.
Nov 30, 2021
Decision on starter to come Wednesday
Coach Sean Payton said Tuesday that the Saints will wait and see how Hill's foot responds to Wednesday's practice before making an announcement on their Week 13 starting quarterback between Hill and Trevor Siemian, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been tending to a plantar fascia injury in recent weeks and hasn't seen any game action since Nov. 14 at Tennessee. Instead, he was available as an emergency option Weeks 11 and 12 but ceded every QB rep to Siemian in those contests. With the Saints in the midst of a four-game losing streak, Payton is preparing Hill to take over as the No. 1, and he responded with back-to-back full listings on New Orleans injury reports Monday and Tuesday. If Payton upholds Tuesday's statement, he'll officially make a decision on Hill as the team's starter at some point Wednesday.
Nov 29, 2021
Practices fully, ready to start
Hill (foot) was a full participant in Monday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Though head coach Sean Payton has yet to officially disclose the Saints' plans at quarterback for Thursday's game against the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier Monday that Hill is expected to replace Trevor Siemian atop the depth chart and pick up his first start of the season this week. The starting assignment is likely contingent on Hill demonstrating that his lingering plantar fascia injury isn't a concern, and he appears to have done just that by taking every rep with the first-team offense Monday. So long as Hill avoids any further setbacks over the next two days of practice, expect Payton to officially name him the starter leading up to Thursday's contest. Over his four-game starting run in place of Drew Brees in 2020, Hill proved to be a fantasy-friendly option. He averaged 208.5 passing yards and 52.3 rushing yards while accounting for eight touchdowns (four passing, four rushing) during that stretch.
Nov 29, 2021
Taking first-team reps
Hill (foot) took first-team reps during Monday's practice session, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been dealing with a plantar fascia injury recently, but it appears as though he could overtake Trevor Siemian for starting duties once he's deemed healthy enough to play. The 31-year-old signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract extension with the Saints last week and has completed seven of eight passes for 56 yards and a touchdown while rushing 20 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns across seven appearances in 2021.
Nov 29, 2021
Managing plantar fascia injury
Hill (foot) has been dealing with a plantar fascia injury, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been active for each of the last two games but hasn't made an appearance behind starter Trevor Siemian. He was available as an "emergency backup" during Thursday's 31-6 loss to the Bills, and it's not yet clear whether he'll he available as a gadget option in Thursday's Week 13 matchup against the Cowboys.
Nov 25, 2021
Still dealing with foot injury
Hill was active for Thursday's 31-6 loss to the Bills, but was deemed an "emergency backup" as he continues to deal with a foot injury, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's absence was certainly pronounced as Trevor Siemian struggled mightily to lead a functioning offense. The gadget quarterback was a full participant in practice all week so it's a little surprising the Saints didn't feel comfortable using Hill, especially as the offense floundered. The newly extended quarterback won't have much time to rehab the injury with the Saints slated to take on the Cowboys next Thursday.
Nov 22, 2021
Gets $22.5M guaranteed in new deal
Hill and the Saints agreed Monday on a four-year contract extension that includes $22.5 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
If he's not cut before the deal expires, Hill will remain on the Saints' books through his age-35 season in 2025 and earn anywhere from $40 to $55 million, depending on what position he plays. If Hill continues to serve in his current hybrid role on offense while also contributing on special teams, he'll earn around $10 million annually, while he would reach the upper range of the extension if he eventually emerges as the team's starting quarterback at any point in the next four seasons. Given that he was beaten out by Jameis Winston for the starting role in the preseason and has backed up journeyman Trevor Siemian in the last three games following Winston's season-ending injury, Hill seems more likely to remain in his current gadget role. Even with Siemian turning the ball over twice in the Saints' Week 11 loss to the Eagles and completing just 55 percent of his passes, Hill didn't see any work on offense.
Nov 21, 2021
No snaps against Eagles
Hill was active but did not record a snap during Sunday's 40-29 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
After managing just one practice this week due to a foot injury, Hill's lack of offensive involvement isn't a huge surprise. Of much bigger concern is the fact that Trevor Siemian has a stranglehold on quarterback duties in the absence of Jameis Winston. It will be interesting to see if Hill gets mixed in down the stretch, but for now it seems as if the Saints prefer keeping him in a gadget role.
Nov 21, 2021
Ready for backup duties Sunday
Hill (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though he managed only one limited practice this week while contending with the foot issue, Hill proved he was healthy enough for the Saints to make him the sole backup to starting quarterback Trevor Siemian on Sunday, as rookie Ian Book is a healthy inactive. Since returning from a two-game absence due to a concussion, Hill has played a small role as a gadget player both of the past two weeks, playing less than a third of the Saints' offensive snaps in the two contests. He's completed all four of his pass attempts for 44 yards during that stretch, while adding 27 yards on four carries.
Nov 19, 2021
Questionable for Sunday
Hill (foot) returned to practice Friday as a limited participant and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Trevor Siemian is locked in for a third straight start at quarterback, regardless, but Hill always looms as a threat to poach red-zone snaps, even if he's not quite 100 percent. He had two pass attempts and three carries while playing 31 percent of offensive snaps in last week's 23-21 loss to Tennessee, while Siemian got 34 pass attempts (plus four sacks) on 93 percent of snaps. A Week 11 absence for Hill would slightly improve the volume/TD outlook for Siemian and other key Saints.
Nov 18, 2021
Not at practice again
Hill (foot) isn't practicing Thursday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints have already committed to Trevor Siemian making his third consecutive start at quarterback Sunday in Philadelphia, but if available, Hill will still have a role as a gadget player in the Saints' game plan. At least for the time being, Hill's status for the matchup with the Eagles is up in the air, as he's now missed consecutive practices on account of the foot injury. He'll likely need to return to practice Friday as a full participant to avoid taking an injury designation into the weekend.
Nov 17, 2021
Tending to foot issue
Hill didn't practice Wednesday due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Hill previously missed two games this season due to a concussion suffered Week 5 at Washington, so the foot issue is a new health concern. Since he returned to action Week 9 against the Falcons, he's resumed his gadget role behind starting quarterback Trevor Siemian, completing all four passes for 44 yards, taking four carries for 27 yards and hauling in one of two targets for 15 yards across two contests. Hill has two more opportunities to return to practice this week and put himself on a path to play Sunday in Philadelphia.
Nov 14, 2021
Totals 34 yards
Hill completed two of two passes for 11 yards while rushing three times for 23 yards during Sunday's 23-21 loss to Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Hill had to check into the medical tent at one point, but he's not believed to be dealing with any significant injuries. Of bigger concern is the fact that the Saints have given the vast majority of work under center to Trevor Siemian in the wake of Jameis Winston's (knee) season-ending injury. Barring a change in roles, Hill's fantasy value will remain muted headed into a Week 11 matchup with Philadelphia.
Nov 12, 2021
Remains backup, gadget guy
Hill will once again cede the starting quarterback role to Trevor Siemian against the Titans on Sunday, but coach Sean Payton said the team will have some packages for Hill, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill had two pass attempts and one carry last week while playing a total of 17 offensive snaps. His usage will likely come primarily in red-zone packages, which would give Hill a significant enough role to cut into Siemian's upside but not enough playing time for Hill to have much standalone fantasy value outside of formats in which he's eligible at a position other than quarterback.
Nov 8, 2021
Handles gadget role against Falcons
Hill completed both of his passes for 33 yards while rushing once for four yards during Sunday's 27-25 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
With Trevor Siemian logging 96 percent of the offensive snaps, Hill only got a few reps at quarterback and he ultimately was on the field for just 17 offensive snaps. While he nearly managed a rushing touchdown during that time, fantasy owners would likely need much more from the dual-threat quarterback to consider using him in practically any fantasy format. Unless he gets the starting nod over Siemian, Hill belongs nowhere near fantasy lineups in Week 10 against Tennessee.
Nov 5, 2021
Backing up Siemian in Week 9
Hill practiced fully Friday and has cleared the concussion protocol, but head coach Sean Payton said that he'll be available in a backup capacity Sunday against the Falcons after Trevor Siemian was named as the team's starting quarterback for Week 9.
ANALYSIS
Though Hill missed the Saints' last two games due to the head injury, he returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant and looked like he might be an option to start Week 9 after top quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Week 8 win over the Buccaneers. However, Siemian was ultimately awarded the starting nod after he performed capably as a game manager in relief of Winston last week, but that doesn't mean he'll have a long leash atop the depth chart. In fact, Payton intimated that the timing of Hill's exit from the concussion protocol played a factor in the decision to go with Siemian, and the coach left the door open for the quarterback situation to be revisited Week 10, per Jeff Nowak of The Big 870 New Orleans. Payton added that Hill and rookie fourth-round pick Ian Book will both be available as reserve options behind Siemian, and Hill should have at least a small role in Sunday's game plan in goal-line or short-yardage scenarios, just like he did when he bac

Practices fully Thursday
Hill (concussion) practiced in full Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Considering he was limited Wednesday in his first practice since sustaining a concussion Week 5, Hill likely still has to meet with an independent neurologist to be cleared for game action, but he's inched closer to making his return. The Saints have yet to make a decision on who will be under center Sunday against the Falcons in the wake of Jameis Winston's season-ending knee injury from Week 8. Coach Sean Payton may want to see where Hill stands as of Friday, but Hill and Trevor Siemian remain in play to be the Saints' starting quarterback this weekend.
Nov 3, 2021
Puts in limited practice
Hill (concussion) officially was limited at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
In his first on-field work since suffering a concussion Week 5, Hill had a cap on his reps, but it's a sign that he's making progress through league protocols for head injuries. The Saints have a bit of a quandary at quarterback after Jameis Winston suffered a torn ACL and also damage to his MCL this past Sunday against the Buccaneers. Trevor Siemian took over for Winston and completed 16 of 29 passes for 159 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the 36-27 victory. Coach Sean Payton may wait to make a decision on the Week 9 starter until he sees where Hill stands as of Friday, but Hill's upcoming role could be anything from No. 1 QB to inactive player.
Nov 3, 2021
Back at practice Wednesday
Hill (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's return to drills for the first time since sustaining a concussion Week 5 is well timed following Jameis Winston's diagnosis of a torn ACL in addition to damage to his MCL from Week 8. It's unclear where Hill stands in the protocol for head injuries, and also whether he'd be the first quarterback to step in for Winston. Coach Sean Payton could opt to roll with Trevor Siemian under center after he stepped in and led the Saints to a 36-27 win over the Buccaneers this past Sunday, completing 16 of 29 passes for 159 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Such a scenario likely would place Hill in his customary jack-of-all trades role, assuming he's able to get cleared in time for a Week 9 matchup with the Falcons.
Nov 1, 2021
Progressing through protocol
Hill (concussion) is on schedule in his recovery process, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill suffered a concussion in Week 5 and still hasn't returned to practice. However, coach Sean Payton sounded pleased with the quarterback's progress in his recovery Monday. Hill is a strong candidate to start at quarterback once he's cleared to return since Jameis Winston suffered a torn ACL on Sunday, but Payton declined to name a starting quarterback Monday.
Oct 29, 2021
Ruled out, still not practicing
Hill (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was unable to practice at all this week and still hasn't resumed practicing since being concussed back in Week 5. He presumably is yet to clear the NFL's concussion protocol and will need to do so in order to give himself a chance to play in Week 9 against the Falcons. Trevor Siemian will continue to back up Jameis Winston against the Buccaneers.
Oct 28, 2021
Still absent Thursday
Hill (concussion) was still unavailable for the Saints on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The quarterback suffered the concussion in Week 5 against Washington, but he's yet to return to practice. After opening the preseason as a potential option to be behind the center for the Saints, Hill has performed mostly as a running option in 2021, rushing for 77 yards and three scores in five games.
Oct 27, 2021
No progress yet through concussion
Hill (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Hill hasn't been seen on the practice field since sustaining a concussion back in Week 5, even with the benefit of a Week 6 bye. He sat out this past Sunday in Seattle, and he doesn't appear to have made much progress through the protocol for head injuries. If he requires another absence for the Saints' Week 8 NFC South showdown with the Bucs, Hill will yield backup QB to Trevor Siemian behind starter Jameis Winston.
Oct 23, 2021
Not playing Monday
Hill (concussion) was ruled out ahead of Monday's contest against the Seahawks, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill failed to practice all week, failing to clear concussion protocol ahead of the prime-time affair. Jameis Winston was already clearly operating as the team's starting quarterback, but red-zone options such as Alvin Kamara, Marquez Callaway and Juwan Johnson could all see a boost with the multi-talented Hill unable to siphon away touches.
Oct 22, 2021
Still in protocol
Hill (concussion) didn't practice Friday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill suffered the concussion Week 5 and remains the NFL's protocol after a Week 6 bye. An absence for Monday night's game in Seattle would improve red-zone projections for key parts of the Saints offense, namely Alvin Kamara and Jameis Winston.
Oct 21, 2021
Not practicing to begin week
Hill (concussion) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill was diagnosed with a concussion after exiting the Saints' Week 5 win over Washington, and despite benefiting from a Week 6 bye, the jack-of-all-trades quarterback seemingly hasn't made any tangible progress in his recovery. Not only will Hill likely need to practice in some capacity to play Monday in Seattle, but he'll also need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist before exiting the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. Hill has attempted just three passes this season while carrying 16 times, with eight of those totes coming in the red zone. As such, Hill's potential absence Monday would likely be more beneficial to top back Alvin Kamara rather than starting quarterback Jameis Winston.
Oct 10, 2021
Confirmed concussion Sunday
Hill suffered a concussion during Sunday's contest at Washington, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill remained on the turf after taking a hit to the helmet on an attempted catch in the second quarter and needed a cart to get to the locker room. Now that he has a confirmed concussion, he'll be subject to the NFL's protocol for head injuries in order to be cleared to resume game action. While Hill navigates his way through each of the five steps, Trevor Siemian and Ian Book are the remaining quarterbacks on the Saints behind starter Jameis Winston.
Oct 3, 2021
Two more rushing touchdowns
Hill completed two of three passes for nine yards and one interception while rushing six times for 28 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 27-21 overtime loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Even though Jameis Winston continues to serve as the primary quarterback, Hill is seeing increasingly more playing time as part of the Saints' red-zone package. After logging four scoreless carries over the first two weeks of the season, Hill has 12 carries for 60 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns over the past two games. However, despite the recent production, Hill is still far away from seeing enough touches to warrant fantasy consideration as a quarterback and that probably won't change unless Winston implodes or gets sidelined.
Sep 27, 2021
Rushes for touchdown
Hill rushed six times for 32 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 28-13 win over New England.
ANALYSIS
Logging 53 percent of the snaps on offense, Hill was used effectively in the run game but he didn't attempt a pass with Jameis Winston still working as the primary QB 95 percent of the time. Unless Winston loses his grip as the starting signal caller, Hill won't see nearly enough touches to warrant fantasy consideration.
Sep 20, 2021
Totals 16 rushing yards
Hill rushed twice for 16 yards during Sunday's 26-7 loss to Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Jameis Winston and the Saints offense came crashing back to Earth after an explosive Week 1 blowout of Green Bay. However, Hill seemed to provide a small spark when given a couple of chances. It will be interesting to see if he becomes more involved going forward should Winston's struggles persist.
Sep 13, 2021
Handling small offensive role
Hill completed his only pass for three yards while rushing twice for one yard during Sunday's 38-3 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Jameis Winston handled the vast majority of playing time while Hill mixed in sporadically, converting two third downs before getting stuffed at the goal line on a designed run. While he was largely effective within his gadget role in reality, Hill didn't see nearly enough playing time to even warrant consideration in two-quarterback fantasy leagues. Given the success Winston in the season opener, it seems unlikely that will change anytime soon.
Sep 6, 2021
Won't be gameday backup
Coach Sean Payton said Monday that Hill won't be the Saints' primary backup quarterback on gamedays due to his other offensive roles and work on special teams, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
One of rookie fourth-round pick Ian Book and Trevor Siemian will instead handle backup duties week-to-week behind Jameis Winston, allowing Payton to utilize Hill freely in the versatile role. Hill is still clearly New Orleans' No. 2 quarterback and will take over starting duties the following week should Winston suffer an injury, but he won't be the in-game replacement in that situation.
Aug 27, 2021
Beginning season as backup
The Saints will kick off Week 1 against the Packers with Jameis Winston starting under center, leaving Hill to handle backup duties, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Sean Payton took his time evaluating all options before officially naming a No. 1 quarterback, but though Hill threw for 138 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's preseason win over the Jaguars while operating with the second unit, Winston was able to lock up the top gig after throwing 123 yards and two touchdowns while working with the starters. Hill will kick off the regular season operating as Winston's primary backup, though he could also still take the field in his usual capacity as a gadget player. With Adam Troutman (anke) and Nick Vannett (knee) both nursing multi-week injuries, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Hill could end up handling increased work at tight end.
Aug 24, 2021
Throws touchdown with second unit
Hill completed 11 of 20 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 23-21 preseason win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Hill entered the game after Jameis Winston impressed with the starters, completing 9 of 10 attempts for 123 yards and two scores. Although Hill was able to toss a touchdown of his own, hitting Lil'Jordan Humphrey on a 14-yard fade in the third quarter, Winston's performance may have been enough to close New Orleans' quarterback competition ahead of Week 1. Coach Sean Payton reportedly hopes to name his starter prior to Saturday's exhibition finale versus the Cardinals, so Hill's role for the regular season could be known sooner than later.
Aug 20, 2021
To play behind Winston on Monday
Hill will serve as the Saints' second quarterback Monday versus the Jaguars after coach Sean Payton named Jameis Winston the starter for that game, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill logged the first three possessions for New Orleans in preseason Week 1, but his stat line (81 yards and one interception) and team output (no points) fell shy of Winston's performance, who led the team to two TDs on five drives. Now Winston will get the first shot with the offense Monday, and more starters will be a part of the action (potentially Alvin Kamara). The competition for the No. 1 QB job between Hill and Winston remains up in the air, but Monday's game could go a long way in Payton's eventual decision.
Aug 14, 2021
Mixed bag in preseason start
Hill completed eight of 12 passes for 81 yards and an interception in Saturday's 17-14 preseason loss to the Ravens. He didn't register a rushing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been alternating first-team work with Jameis Winston in practice but got the starting nod in this one and played the first three possessions. He led the Saints inside Baltimore's 10-yard line on a strong opening drive that was spoiled by Latavius Murray's fumble, but Hill was picked off on his second drive and almost threw another interception on the next possession, which ended in a punt. Winston then played the final five possessions of the first half, leading a pair of touchdown drives before capping his night with an interception of his own. Winston probably came out ahead here, but the quarterback competition in New Orleans remains far from settled heading into a preseason Week 2 clash with the Jaguars.
Aug 14, 2021
Leading starters in pregame warmups
Hill is working with the first-team offense in pregame warmups Saturday night in Baltimore, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill thus seems likely to get the start, with Jameis Winston replacing him at some point thereafter. The two QBs are competing for the Week 1 starting job.
Aug 1, 2021
Spending time with second string
Hill practiced with the second-team offense Saturday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
After spending the first two practices of training camp with the starting offense, Hill relegated those duties to Jameis Winston on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Hill was reportedly much more impressive with the second stringers, specifically making impressive throws on deep passes. As head coach Sean Payton has previously said that Hill and and Winston will alternate practices with the top offense during training camp, it will be interesting to see if Hill can continue impressing as a downfield passer when he's back playing against the first-team defense.
Jul 29, 2021
Opens camp with starters
Hill worked with the starters on the first day of training camp, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
However, Johnson notes that Jameis Winston was "really sharp" leading the second-string offense. Both quarterbacks figure to get plenty of run with the starters this summer, and Hill's standing on the first day may simply be a nod to his tenure with the Saints.
Apr 21, 2021
Strictly training as QB
Hill said Tuesday that he is strictly training as a quarterback this offseason, Mike Triplett of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to logging snaps at six offensive positions in 2020, per Pro Football Focus, Hill said he spent previous offseasons by preparing to play in a variety of roles on offense and special teams. With Drew Brees now retired, there's an open window for Hill to secure the starting quarterback gig in New Orleans and, for seemingly the first time in his professional career, it appears he is exclusively being coached to play that one position. While the 30-year-old will face competition from fellow incumbent backup quarterback Jameis Winston this offseason, it was Hill who the Saints chose as the starter when Brees was injured for four games last season. Accordingly, the job may be Hill's to lose, especially after coach Sean Payton previously expressed doubt in March that New Orleans will add another signal caller to the mix.
Mar 16, 2021
Expected to compete with Winston
Coach Sean Payton believes the Saints are done adding quarterbacks after they re-signed Jameis Winston to compete with Hill (knee) for the starting job, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton did say the team will still make some calls, and it would be easy enough to make an argument for drafting a quarterback in April. Winston is signed on a one-year contract, while Hill's "four-year, $140 million contract" is all voidable after 2021 (it just helps the team push some cap hit to 2022). The camp battle between these two QBs will be one of the major fantasy-football stories of the summer, with Hill offering upside thanks to his running ability, while Winston already has a 5,000-yard season on his resume. The Saints have lost a lot of talent this offseason, but they still have Sean Payton, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and one of the better O-lines in the league.
Mar 14, 2021
Restructures contract
The Saints are restructuring Hill's contract into a voidable four-year, $140 million extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The grand total of Hill's extension appears enormous, but with all years being voidable it essentially serves as a means for the Saints to clear up cap space and potentially move dead money into future years. The restructure comes just following the announcement of Drew Brees' retirement, a development which gives Hill's spot on the roster a new context, even if it wasn't completely unexpected. With Jameis Winston currently set for free agency, Hill stands atop the Saints' quarterback depth chart. In the four games he filled in for Brees last season, Hill averaged 209 passing yards, one passing touchdown and 0.5 interceptions per contest. He also boosted his totals with an average of 52 rushing yards and one score on the ground per game, numbers which would extrapolate to a high-end fantasy season across 16 starts. Of course, it seems probable that Hill will face some form of real competition for the No. 1 gig, whether Winston re-signs or New Orleans brings in another option.
Jan 30, 2021
Career-best season
Hill finished the 2020 season with 928 passing yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions as a passer while contributing 457 rushing yards and eight additional rushing scores.
ANALYSIS
Hill got his first taste of action as a starter this season, filling in for Drew Brees in four games, throwing for 834 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also chipped in four rushing touchdowns in that span and finished the season with career highs in carries (87), rushing yards (457) and rushing touchdowns (8). The possibility of Drew Brees' retirement is very real, and if the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback does call it quits, Hill will likely compete for the Saints' starting job in 2021. Jameis Winston is set to become a free agent, but if he sticks around, he'll surely be in the mix for the starting job, too.
Jan 17, 2021
Inactive for divisional round
Hill (knee) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Buccaneers, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
This week, Hill didn't practice until Friday, when he put in a limited session. However, it wasn't enough for the Saints to clear the QB and gadget player to suit up in the divisional round. As a result, Jameis Winston will serve as the backup quarterback to Drew Brees on Sunday.
Jan 17, 2021
Unlikely for divisional round
Hill (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Buccaneers, isn't expected to play, Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater of NFL Network report.
ANALYSIS
The Saints will presumably re-evaluate Hill in a workout early Sunday before ruling on his status ahead of the 6:40 p.m. ET kickoff, but the 30-year-old looks to be trending in the wrong direction after he managed only one limited practice this week while battling the knee injury. In addition to Hill, the Saints are also expected to be without the services of No. 2 running back Latavius Murray (quadriceps), so Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara would both seem less likely to lose out on scoring opportunities in the red zone.
Jan 15, 2021
Listed as questionable
Hill (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers after returning to a limited practice Friday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
If Hill is available for Sunday night's 6:40 ET kickoff, he'd back up Drew Brees at QB, while also providing the Saints offense with a versatile rushing/pass-catching option. Hill finished the regular season with rushing scores in each of New Orleans' final three contests.
Jan 14, 2021
Not at practice
Hill (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill missed a second straight practice, as did RB Latavius Murray (quad). The Saints should be alright without one or both of them, but it's definitely an interesting situation for fantasy purposes, impacting he outlooks for Alvin Kamara, Drew Brees and the New Orleans pass catchers. Including last week's playoff game, Hill has 18 carries, six targets and three TDs in four appearances since Drew Brees returned from IR.
Jan 13, 2021
Tending to knee injury
Hill (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill dealt with a concussion last week, but he managed to pass through the protocol for head injuries and play this past Sunday against the Bears. In the 21-9 wild-card win, he lost a fumble, had four carries for 15 yards and caught both targets for five yards. Now with a knee issue in tow, his status will be one to monitor as the weekend draws closer.
Jan 10, 2021
Logs just six touches in win
Hill rushed four times for 15 yards and caught both of his targets for five yards in the Saints' 21-9 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Hill's three-game streak of scoring a rushing touchdown was snapped as he logged just four carries and failed to get much going with them. New Orleans' offense was back to full health, and Hill's recent opportunities dissipated as all of Latavius Murray, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas found the end zone. Hill will have a tough time finding meaningful touches in next week's divisional round against Tampa Bay's league-best rush defense.
Jan 8, 2021
Ready for wild-card round
Hill (concussion) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Bears, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill's lack of an injury designation confirms that he's completely cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol, which doesn't come as much of a surprise considering that he's coming off back-to-back full practices. He'll handle his usual jack-of-all trades role versus Chicago while Drew Brews starts under center.
Jan 7, 2021
Puts in full practice Thursday
Hill (concussion) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Hill emerged from Week 17 with a concussion, but he's already displayed measurable progress through the protocol for head injuries by increasing his activity from limited Wednesday to uncapped one day later. Still, he must be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to suit up Sunday against the Bears.
Jan 6, 2021
Dealing with concussion
Hill (concussion) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Since Drew Brees returned to action Week 15, Hill has played his typical bit role in the Saints offense, completing both of his passes for eight yards, tallying 14 carries for 62 yards and three touchdowns, and hauling in two of four targets for 24 yards. Hill's current bout with a concussion wasn't revealed until the team reconvened for preparation for the wild-card round, but the fact he fit in some activity Wednesday indicates he's progressing through the protocol for head injuries. In any case, he'll be subject to a meeting with an independent neurologist in order to suit up Sunday against the Bears.
Jan 4, 2021
Scores eighth rushing touchdown
Hill rushed seven times for 41 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for five yards in the Saints' 33-7 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Hill saw some additional work out of the backfield with both Alvin Kamara and and Latavius Murray out after being placed on the COVID-19 list. Hill added to his career-best rushing touchdown total and scored for the eighth time in 2020 after accumulating just three rushing touchdowns across his first three seasons in the league. Hill finishes the regular season with the best statistical performance of his career, and he'll likely compete for the starting job in New Orleans in 2021 if Drew Brees retires.
Jan 2, 2021
More running work on tap?
Hill may handle more reps in Sunday's game against the Panthers following news that Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray and Dwayne Washington are out after being placed on the COVID-19 list, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear exactly how the backfield will shake out. The Saints are expected to promote running back Tony Jones from the practice squad, and Ty Montgomery has experience at the position, too. However, with none of the top backs available, Hill could be in line for a bulk of the goal-line rushes, providing an intriguing opportunity to add to the seven rushing scores he's accrued thus far.
Dec 25, 2020
Another rushing TD in win
Hill completed both of his pass attempts for eight yards, rushed five times for 18 yards and a touchdown and secured his only target for 19 yards in the Saints' 52-33 win over the Vikings on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Hill once again played his jack-of-all-trades role with efficacy, recording a rushing touchdown for the second straight game and seventh time this season. Hill also put the ball up for the first time since his starting quarterback stint in place of Drew Brees came to an end Week 14. Hill could potentially see time in all three offensive roles again during a Week 17 road season finale versus the Panthers.
Dec 20, 2020
Rushes for TD in gadget role
Hill carried the ball twice for three yards and a touchdown and failed to record a catch on two targets in Sunday's 32-29 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
With Drew Brees back under center. Hill returned to his usual role as a gadget player and backup QB, and he took a red-zone snap into the end zone in the second quarter. He was also targeted in the red zone by Brees later in the game, but wasn't able to corral the pass. Hill still retains some fantasy value in very deep formats, but unless Brees gets hurt again, he's unlikely to see much action in Week 16 against the Vikings.
Dec 20, 2020
May have reduced role on offense
The Saints could make less use of Hill as a "jack-of-all-trades" player Sunday against the Chiefs after Jameis Winston was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Hill had been the Saints' starting quarterback each of the past four games, he was in line to serve as the No. 3 option behind Drew Brees (ribs/lung) -- who will start after being reinstated from injured reserve -- and Winston this week. As a result, most of Hill's practice reps this week came on special teams and in the versatile role he plays on offense when Brees is available. Because Brees is playing at less than 100 percent health, the Saints kept Winston prepared to replace him during the contest if necessary, but those duties will now fall to Hill. Terrell suggests that because Hill is the only option to step in at quarterback in the event Brees can't finish the contest, the Saints could scale back Hill's usage as a runner and receiver. While Brees started the first nine games of the season, Hill averaged 4.6 combined carries and targets per contest during that span.
Dec 18, 2020
Return to versatile role on tap
Hill will return to his versatile offensive role Sunday against the Chiefs with Drew Brees (ribs) expected to start, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Brees officially remains on injured reserve for now, but he's expected to be activated and start versus Kansas City after missing the last four games. Hill performed well as the fill-in starter during that stretch, compiling a 3-1 record while completing 82 of 114 pass attempts for 834 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing 39 times for 209 yards and four more scores. The 30-year-old should be involved in the offense as a runner and receiver in addition to his duties on special teams, while Jameis Winston continues to serve as the No. 2 quarterback.
Dec 13, 2020
Suffers first loss as starter
Hill completed 28 of 38 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Eagles. He also carried the ball five times for 33 yards.
ANALYSIS
The Philly defense was able to contain Hill on the ground and force him to become a passer, and while he posted some fairly impressive numbers through the air as a result, New Orleans came out on the wrong end of the final score. Drew Brees (ribs) still doesn't have a clear timetable for his return to action, potentially leaving Hill under center again in Week 15's home clash against Kansas City.
Dec 13, 2020
Continues to fill in for Brees
Hill, who's slated to start Sunday's game against the Eagles, could also get the nod next weekend against Kansas City, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that the Saints are in no rush to bring back Drew Brees, who's bouncing back from 11 fractured ribs and a punctured lung. With that in mind, Schefter views Brees as "questionable at best" for Week 15 action, with Hill in line to fill in at QB for New Orleans as long as necessary. The team is 3-0 since Hill took over as the starter and his dual-threat ability has been an asset to fantasy managers in that span.
Dec 10, 2020
Another start expected
Hill is expected to once again start at quarterback Week 14 against the Eagles, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill continues to have a firm hold on the quarterback job while early-season starter Drew Brees (ribs) remains on IR and hasn't participated much in practice. While the situation with Brees could change by the time Week 15 rolls around, it would be exceedingly difficult to bench a player like Hill, especially if he picks up a win Sunday to improve to 4-0 as a starter. According to the report from Duncan, Hill's three-game effort has only helped his case for being the future franchise QB in the eyes of New Orleans brass.
Dec 6, 2020
Tosses first two TDs of career
Hill completed 27 for 37 pass attempts for 232 yards and two touchdowns, adding 14 carries for 83 yards during Sunday's 21-16 win against the Falcons. He also fumbled three times, losing one to the opposition.
ANALYSIS
In what was his third start at quarterback for the Saints, Hill threw his first TD pass since Nov. 26, 2016 (his final game played for BYU). The 30-year-old had a much cleaner passing outing Sunday compared to his Week 12 showing against the Broncos when he completed just 56.3 percent of his passes for 78 yards and one interception. Hill has been a force on the ground all along, also collecting 44-plus rushing yards and two rushing scores in each of his first two QB starts Weeks 11 and 12. Drew Brees (ribs) has a chance to return next Sunday for a matchup against the Eagles, but with New Orleans sitting at 3-0 since Hill took over, it's possible the Saints roll Brees back slowly to ensure he's fully healed for the postseason.
Nov 29, 2020
Scores two more times on ground
Hill completed nine of 16 pass attempts with 78 yards and one interception, also rushing 10 times for 44 yards and two rushing touchdowns during Sunday's 31-3 win against Denver. He fumbled once but recovered the loose ball himself.
ANALYSIS
Hill stands without a passing TD over his pair of NFL starts, but he's provided fantasy value in spite of that with two rushing scores in both Week 11 and Week 12. The BYU product didn't have to go to the air often against the Broncos, who were down to practice squad call-up Kendall Hinton at quarterback because of a rash of COVID-related scratches at the position. Next Sunday's matchup against the Falcons may very well call for a more pass-heavy game script. Hill is in line for his third consecutive start, with Drew Brees (ribs/shoulder) potentially out until Week 15.

Effective in starting QB debut
Hill completed 18 of 23 pass attempts for 233 yards, adding 10 rushes for 51 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 24-9 win against the Falcons. He also lost one fumble.
ANALYSIS
With Drew Brees (ribs) potentially out through Week 15, Coach Sean Payton elected not to turn to Jameis Winston and his 80 career starts against Atlanta. Instead, he entrusted the swiss-army knife talent Hill in his quarterback slot. On fantasy servers where Hill maintained tight end eligibility for Week 11, he proved to be an absolute gold mine. Even if entrusted in a QB slot, however, the BYU product still cashed in with his 284 scrimmage yards and two scores. His positional eligibility will be revisited after the Week 11 slate, but he offers tremendous upside with his rushing acumen heading into a matchup against the Broncos.

Set for Week 11 start
Hill will start Sunday's divisional matchup against the Falcons, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Jameis Winston filled in for an injured Drew Brees (chest) midway through last weekend's win over the 49ers, Hill has since received all of New Orleans' No.1 reps in practice. The versatile signal-caller is now on track to draw his first career start against the Falcons, while Winston serves as his backup. Schefter also notes that Winston won't be involved in any portion of the Saints' offensive gameplan, a hint that the team doesn't foresee the possibility of making any sort of mid-game switch. Hill has only completed 10 passes in his career, but he seems destined to surpass that mark on Sunday while commanding New Orleans' offense.

Receiving starting reps
Hill has been receiving the reps with the No. 1 offense at practice this week and may start Sunday's game against the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Sean Payton said Monday that he wouldn't name a starting quarterback until the end of the week, but it appears Hill is trending toward being the fill-in starter this weekend with Drew Brees (ribs) sidelined. Jameis Winston stepped in when Brees exited last week's contest and was the favorite to start Sunday, but it appears Hill could be leading the offense. Payton should provide more information after Friday's practice.

Battling for starting QB role
Coach Sean Payton said Monday that he won't name a starting quarterback until the end of the week following news that Drew Brees (ribs) is out 2-to-3 weeks, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jameis Winston came in after Brees exited Sunday's win over the 49ers, and he's the favorite to get the start this Sunday against the Falcons. Nevertheless, both quarterbacks should get work with the first-team offense during the practice week before Payton reveals his final verdict. Even if Winston is named the starter, Hill will be utilized plenty in his typical gadget role and could toss a few more passes than usual because of the circumstances.

Eight carries in Week 10 win
Hill rushed eight times for 45 yards in the Saints' 27-13 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite Drew Brees (ribs) only playing the first half of the contest, Hill mixed in sparingly at quarterback behind Jameis Winston and didn't attempt a pass. He instead saw eight carries out of the backfield and has now rushed 20 times across his last three outings. Even if Brees is forced to miss time moving forward, Hill will likely backup Winston and won't be a recommended fantasy play outside of deeper leagues.

Versatility shines in blowout win
Hill completed both of his pass attempts for 48 yards, rushed seven times for 54 yards and caught his lone target for 21 yards in the Saints' 38-3 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
In a game the Saints led handily throughout, Hill got a chance to dig into his versatile toolbox by making an impact as a passer, receiver and running back, leading the team in rushing yards along the way. Hill continues to see work and is mostly a touchdown-dependent fantasy option when the Saints are playing in a competitive game.

Catches TD pass in OT win
Hill carried the ball five times for 35 yards and caught both his targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 overtime win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
With the Saints' receiving corps extremely short-handed, Hill saw a season high in touches while scoring his second TD of the year, and his first receiving TD. Depending on the health of Michael Thomas (hamstring), Emmanuel Sanders (COVID) and other WRs, Hill could again see a few more plays called for him in Week 9 against the Buccaneers.
Oct 26, 2020
Does little in Week 7 victory
Hill completed his only pass attempt for no gain, adding a six-yard carry in the Saints' 27-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Even with Michael Thomas (hamstring) and Emmanuel Sanders (COVID) out of action, Hill didn't see an expanded role in the offense and totaled just six yards on two touches in Sunday's victory. Hill's weekly sprinkling of touches has yet to yield meaningful fantasy value this season, and that's likely to continue in Week 8 against a strong Chicago defense.
Oct 13, 2020
Scores in OT victory
Hill rushed three times for 13 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 30-27 overtime win against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
He also fell incomplete on his only pass attempt and failed to bring in either of his two targets. Hill continues to be involved in the offense with a handful of touches per week, but he can remain on the waiver wire as nothing more than a desperation boom-or-bust option in deep leagues.
Oct 4, 2020
Totals 14 yards in victory
Hill carried three times for six yards and caught his only target for eight yards in the Saints' 35-29 win over the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Another week, another small workload, as Hill managed just four touches in Sunday's win. He continues to see very little usage in the Saints' offense, and he can be safely left on the waiver wire in all but the deepest of leagues.
Sep 28, 2020
Three touches in loss
Hill carried twice for six yards and brought in his only target for one yard in the Saints' 37-30 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
He also lost a fumble. Hill's 2019 career year seems a distant memory, as he's now totaled just 10 touches through the first three weeks of the season. With Alvin Kamara and Drew Brees both in full health this season, Hill's rolls as a receiver and quarterback have shrunk considerably. He can't be comfortably utilized in most fantasy formats.
Sep 22, 2020
Musters two touches in loss
Hill carried twice for eight yards in the Saints' 34-24 loss to the Raiders on Monday.
ANALYSIS
After totaling five touches and operating as a passer, running back and receiver in Week 1, Hill took a step back in Week 2 and saw limited action in the loss. Hill's limited volume makes him a highly unpredictable option from week-to-week, and his services are best reserved for deep leagues.
Sep 13, 2020
Shows versatility in Week 1 win
Hill completed his only pass attempt for 38 yards, adding three rushes for 13 yards and a 14-yard reception in Sunday's 34-23 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Hill operated as a gadget player and did a bit of everything in Sunday's victory. He scored a career-high seven touchdowns in 2019, and he's capable of a big game every time he takes the field. However, his highly touchdown-dependent value makes him a volatile fantasy option.

Likely third-string QB
Hill would not be considered the immediate backup in the event Drew Brees were to miss time, Larry Holder of The Athleticreports.
ANALYSIS
This probably shouldn't be much of a surprise considering Teddy Bridgewater took over during the six weeks Brees was out in 2019, but Hill's $16.3 million offseason extension certainly adds a bit more weight to the 29-year-old's claims to the backup throne. Winston poses a formidable foe given his starting resume, but ironically Hill's versatility is probably the ultimate detriment considering his ability to impact the team in a number of different ways.

Inks contract extension
Hill has signed a contract extension with the Saints, Amie Just of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Just, the deal is "essentially a one-year extension to the first-round tender the Saints placed on Hill in free agency." In that context, Adam Schefter of ESPN relays that Sunday's agreement with the QB effectively amounts to a one-year, $16.3 million extension. Hill is thus slated to remain in the New Orleans signal-caller mix through the 2021 campaign. This coming season, he'll continue to work behind long-term starter Drew Brees, as well garner touches in the team's offense as a gadget player. Additionally, the Saints are reportedly on the verge of adding free agent Jameis Winston.

Offer sheet deadline passes
Hill didn't sign an offer sheet before the passing of Friday's deadline and will remain with New Orleans for the 2020 season, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old has yet to officially sign his contract tender, but he's no longer able to negotiate with other teams. The Saints placed a first-round tender on Hill in March, which will be worth $4.641 million for the upcoming season. He's set to serve as New Orleans' backup quarterback behind Drew Brees following the departure of Teddy Bridgewater via free agency, but Hill is still expected to work in the gadget role he's become known for.

Gets first-round tender
The Saints have placed a first-round tender on Hill, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, New Orleans made the move, which almost assuredly means Hill is in a Saints uniform in 2020. With Teddy Bridgewater expected to move on, Hill will move into the backup job to starting QB Drew Brees. Hill's gadget role in the offense shouldn't dry up, though, after posted 119 passing yards, 590 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns over the past two campaigns.
Mar 6, 2020
In line for first-round tender
The Saints are expected to place a first-round tender on Hill, who is a restricted free agent, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill has been a gadget player in the Saints offense the past two seasons, racking up 119 yards on 13 passes, 64 carries for 352 yards, 22 catches for 238 yards and nine total touchdowns while playing all 32 regular-season contests. With Drew Brees committed to playing in 2020 and Teddy Bridgewater almost certainly moving on as an unrestricted free agent, Hill seems resigned to serve as the backup QB in the Big Easy. If New Orleans proceeds with the aforementioned tender, the organization will have the opportunity to match any offer Hill gets on the open market, or otherwise receive a first-round pick if it opts not to do so.

Wants to play QB eventually
Hill said he'll leave New Orleans if he doesn't eventually get a chance to start at quarterback, Rob Maaddi of The Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill presumably understands that he won't have a shot at the starting job until Drew Brees decides to retire, something that hasn't officially been determined but doesn't seem likely to happen this offseason. Hill may be hinting at a desire to replace Teddy Bridgewater -- an impending free agent -- as the No. 2 quarterback, though it would be tricky for the 29-year-old to take on that responsibility while also handling his accustomed roles as a gadget player on offense and a member of multiple special teams units. For what it's worth, former Saints special teams coach Mike Westhoff told Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio that he expects Hill to be the eventual successor to Brees in New Orleans. Hill is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, and the Saints presumably will use a first- or second-round tender to provide some protection from offer sheets.

Headed for bigger role in 2020?
Drew Brees said he'd be fine with Hill taking more snaps in 2020, Chris Simms of NBC Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Brees hasn't officially decided on playing another season but seems to be leaning in that direction. A few recent reports have suggested the Saints view Hill as Brees' eventual replacement at quarterback, which hints at Teddy Bridgewater finding a new team when he becomes a free agent this offseason. An expanded role for Hill in 2020 could involve more snaps at quarterback, or it could just mean more playing time as a wide receiver, tight end or running back.
