Sets franchise record in loss
Kelce caught nine of 13 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-19 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
With his 21-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter, the veteran tight end became Kansas City's all-time franchise leader in touchdowns with 84 for his career, passing Priest Holmes. Kelce has produced more than 90 yards with a touchdown in two of the last three games, and on the season he sports a 50-631-4 line on 66 targets through 10 contests, keeping him on pace to deliver his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2022. Kelce will look to keep rolling in Week 12 against the Colts.
Nov 2, 2025
Gains 66 yards Sunday
Kelce finished with four receptions on five targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 28-21 loss to Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Kelce finished right around the single-game averages of 4.6 receptions and 59.3 yards that he entered Sunday's contest with, highlighting the consistent production the aging superstar has provided in fantasy this season. The 35-year-old enters Kansas City's Week 10 bye with a solid 41-540-3 receiving line through nine starts, putting him on pace to finish with his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2022. It is worth noting that Kelce was evaluated for a concussion at halftime, but he was cleared for the second half and finished without any reported setbacks. Kelce and the Chiefs will attempt to get back into the win column in a road tilt against the Broncos on Nov. 16.

Vintage performance on MNF
Kelce finished with six receptions (on eight targets) for 99 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 28-7 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce turned back the clock with a vintage stat line while leading his club in receiving in a one-sided victory. It also was the most yards the star tight end has recorded in a game through eight starts in 2025. The return of top wideout Rashee Rice in Week 7 has not cut into Kelce's production, with the latter averaging 4.5 receptions and 76.5 yards in the two games QB Patrick Mahomes' top targets have been active together this year. Look for Kelce to remain involved against the Bills in a matchup between AFC contenders Sunday.
Oct 19, 2025
Makes one big catch
Kelce recorded three receptions on three targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 31-0 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce looked to be in for a big game, as he made two catches for 51 yards on the Chiefs' first offensive possession, highlighted by a long reception of 44 yards. However, he essentially went silent from there, with the offense instead running through Rashee Rice and several other different pass catchers. Nevertheless, Kelce has over 50 receiving yards in three consecutive games.
Oct 12, 2025
Leading receiver on SNF
Kelce corralled six of seven targets for 78 yards in Sunday's 30-17 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Kelce kept the good times rolling with another positive fantasy result following last week's 7-61-1 receiving line. The 35-year-old hasn't posted eye-popping numbers on any particular week, but the consistent production at a shallow position certainly makes fantasy managers' lives easier when constructing weekly lineups. Kelce will continue operating as one of Patrick Mahomes' top and most-trusted targets against the Raiders next Sunday.
Oct 7, 2025
Saves best for MNF
Kelce finished with seven receptions on eight targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 31-28 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Kelce finally put it all together for his managers in Week 5, producing his best fantasy score through five starts. The 35-year-old finished with a season-high seven receptions while scoring his second touchdown of the campaign. Even with his slow start to the season, Kelce is still providing enough of a floor for fantasy managers with a 22-243-2 receiving line in 2025. Up next for the Chiefs will be a home tilt against a hot Lions squad on Sunday Night Football in Week 6.
Sep 29, 2025
Perfect on five targets
Kelce recorded five receptions on five targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Targets were spread relatively evenly in the Chiefs' offense, with Kelce being one of three players earning either five or six targets. He finished second on the team in yardage, logging long receptions of 15 and 12 yards. Though Kelce is no longer an elite fantasy tight end, he still has at least four receptions in each of his last three games while also topping 45 yards in three of four contests.
Sep 22, 2025
Held to 26 yards on SNF
Kelce brought in four of seven targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 22-9 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Kelce took a backseat to Kansas City's starting trio of receivers on Sunday Night Football, all three of which finished with more yards than the star tight end. Backup tight end Noah Gray even got in on the action, finishing with a season high three catches in the win. Kelce would gladly trade a personal down game for the team's first win, but fantasy managers have to feel underwhelmed with Sunday's results. Kelce will look to be more involved in a potentially higher-scoring affair against the Ravens next Sunday.
Sep 14, 2025
Leading receiver Sunday
Kelce had four receptions on six targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led all Kansas City receivers in targets (six) and receiving yards (61), but he was unable to replicate the trip to the end zone that he secured for fantasy managers last week. The 35-year-old did fare better against the Eagles this time around after being held to 39 yards with no touchdowns when these two teams met in Super Bowl LIX this past February. With a thin receiver room due to absences from Rashee Rice (suspension) and Xavier Worthy (shoulder), Kelce remains a focal point on offense for a team struggling out of the gates. The Chiefs will attempt to secure its first win of the season in a road matchup against the Giants next Sunday.
Sep 5, 2025
Finds end zone in Week 1 loss
Kelce secured two of four targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 27-21 loss to the Chargers on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
It was shaping up as an utterly forgettable night for Kelce until his early fourth-quarter 37-yard touchdown grab, as he had just one catch for 10 yards until that point and had collided with teammate Xavier Worthy on the fourth play from scrimmage, causing a shoulder injury that forced the latter's exit from the game. Kelce's score therefore served as the only highlight of his night, and with Worthy out, both Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster outpaced the talented tight end in targets. Kelce could well see an increase in opportunity during a Week 2 home Super Bowl LIX rematch against the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 14, especially if Worthy remains sidelined for that marquee contest.
Aug 23, 2025
Shakes off rust with two grabs
Kelce corralled two of three targets for 32 yards in Friday's preseason loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
A slimmer Kelce made his preseason debut Friday after sitting out the Chiefs' first two exhibitions. The 35-year-old decided to lace up for a 13th season after his team was unceremoniously bounced from the Super Bowl by the Eagles in 2024. Kelce's numbers have been steadily declining since his last 1,000-yard season back in 2022. That said, an over-the-hill Kelce still warrants fantasy consideration at a very shallow position.
Jul 22, 2025
Ready for 13th season
Kelce participated in Tuesday's training camp practice.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of the Chiefs' loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, Kelce took a few weeks to ponder his playing status for the upcoming season, but on Feb. 27, the veteran tight end confirmed that he planned to return for another NFL campaign. In 16 regular-season games in 2024, Kelce put up a 97/823/3 receiving line on 133 targets, numbers that were below the career-high marks he set in 2022, but nonetheless a pace that kept him firmly on the fantasy radar. After having dropped some weight this offseason, per The Athletic, Kelce remains entrenched as the Chiefs' top tight end and a trusted target of QB Patrick Mahomes, a context that should continue to provide the 35-year-old with a solid target share in 2025.

Likely to be present at minicamp
Kelce is expected to attend the Chiefs' mandatory minicamp during the coming week, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce shared in early February that he wasn't sure if he'd be returning for another season, but the star tight end stated later that month that he'd decided to play in 2025. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Kelce will be with the Chiefs during the team's mandatory minicamp, which runs Tuesday through Thursday during the coming week. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com notes that Kelce, who didn't take part in Kansas City's voluntary OTAs last week, has slimmed down during the offseason as he approaches his 13th NFL campaign.
Feb 27, 2025
Confirms return for 13th season
Kelce confirmed via social media that he will play in 2025.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had stated after the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles that he hadn't yet decided whether he'd continue his playing career for a 13th pro season, but Chiefs GM Brett Veach said at the NFL Scouting Combine this week that he expected the veteran tight end to return for another year. Kelce has now confirmed it and will formally announce it on his New Heights podcast this week. Kelce will turn 36 years old in October and is certainly slowing down at this stage of his career, but he's ready to give it another run with Kansas City. It will be interesting to see what his role looks like in 2025, especially with Rashee Rice (knee) due back to full health as the Chiefs' power slot receiver and the anticipated leap of Xavier Worthy in his second season following a big stretch run and postseason. Kelce's days as an elite fantasy tight end are likely over.
Feb 25, 2025
Leaning toward return?
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said Tuesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine that Kelce is "fired up" about playing in 2025, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Veach said that as "we left it, [Kelce would] be back and we're excited to get him back and get him going." Head coach Andy Reid, however, indicated Tuesday that things are more up-in-the-air, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic, saying he advised Kelce to "get out of town and relax" before making a decision about his playing future. The 35-year-old tight end is heading into the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, and he carries a 19.8 million cap hit for the 2025 season. Despite declining in terms of both yards and touchdowns in his 12th season, Kelce's 97-823-3 receiving line across 16 regular-season appearances made him one of the league's most productive tight ends in 2024.
Feb 12, 2025
Pondering playing future for '25
Kelce said Wednesday in the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast that he hasn't determined whether he'll continue his playing career in 2025. "I'm gonna take some time to figure it out," Kelce said of his playing future. "And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it's gonna be a wholehearted decision and I'm not half-assing it, and I'm fully here for them."
ANALYSIS
Following the Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX this past Sunday, Kelce didn't address his future plans in the postgame interview room, but he took to his podcast days later to make his first formal comments on the matter. Though the 35-year-old remained one of the NFL's most productive tight ends in 2024 with his seventh straight season of at least 90 receptions, he averaged a career-low 8.5 yards per catch on his 97 grabs over 16 regular-season games. Kelce turned in one of his best performances of the campaign in the wild-card win over Houston (7-117-1 line on eight targets), but he was limited to just six receptions for 58 yards and no touchdowns on 10 targets over the Chiefs' final two postseason games. While he hasn't put a timeline on deciding whether he'll keep playing in 2025, Kelce will presumably inform the Chiefs of his plans before the start of the new league year in March so that the organization can prepare accordingly if he elects to retire. Kelce carries a $19.8 million cap h
Feb 9, 2025
Mild output in SBLIX loss
Kelce corralled four of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kelce failed to stand out in the box score as Philadelphia keyed in its defensive focus on the future Hall of Famer. The 34-year-old appeared to have lost a step in 2024 after posting pedestrian numbers -- by his own gaudy standards -- in 16 regular-season contests (97-823-3). Still under contract through the 2026 season, Kelce will attempt to bounce back after experiencing declines in both yardage and touchdowns scored in consecutive seasons in his 12th year as a pro.
Jan 26, 2025
Little involvement in AFCCG win
Kelce had two receptions on four targets for 19 yards in Sunday's AFC Championship Game victory over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was primarily used as decoy on his routes and finished with just 19 of Patrick Mahomes' 245 passing yards Sunday. The 35-year-old Kelce's gravitational pull on the defense opened the door for auxiliary players such as Xavier Worthy (6-85-1) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (2-60-0) to hit Buffalo with big-chunk plays in the hard-fought victory. Kelce and the Chiefs will face an Eagles defense that surrendered 104 yards to Commanders' TE Zach Ertz in the NFC Championship Game. Fantasy players rolling with Kelce in Super Bowl LIX are hoping that Taylor Swift will be the only one doing any spectating in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
Jan 18, 2025
Dominating performance vs. HOU
Kelce corralled seven of eight targets for 117 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-14 win over Houston.
ANALYSIS
A well-rested Kelce walked into Saturday's divisional round tilt and casually dropped his best receiving line of the season. The 35-year-old dominated the middle of the field in a matchup that had Kansas City at a disadvantage on the perimeters. Kelce saw his season totals take a dip in 2024, but it is obvious that he remains quarterback Patrick Mahomes' favorite target when the stakes are raised. The Chiefs will now prepare to host next Sunday's AFC Championship Game against either the Bills or the Ravens.
Jan 5, 2025
Idle for Week 18
Kelce (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Kelce didn't miss any practice time this week, but with the Chiefs having already clinched the AFC's No. 1 seed heading to regular-season finale, he'll be rested along with several other key players on both sides of the ball. Noah Gray and Peyton Hendershot will be the Chiefs' available options at tight end in Week 18.
Jan 3, 2025
Doubtful for Sunday
Kelce (coach's decision) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's contest in Denver.
ANALYSIS
This comes as no surprise, as QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle) also is listed as doubtful, RB Isiah Pacheco (ribs) has been ruled out, and RB Kareem Hunt received the same listing as Kelce. With the Chiefs having locked up the No. 1 seed on the AFC side of the playoffs, they're taking a cautious approach with a number of key players, which predictably includes Kelce. At least for Week 18, Noah Gray, Peyton Hendershot and practice-squad members Robert Tonyan and Anthony Firkser will be the candidates to fill in at tight end for Kansas City. Kelce instead will turn his focus to the team's postseason opener in the divisional round on either Jan. 18 or 19.
Jan 1, 2025
Candidate to sit out Week 18
Kelce is among several Chiefs starters who could be rested for Sunday's matchup against the Broncos, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs announced Wednesday that Carson Wentz will start at quarterback Sunday while Patrick Mahomes rests, per Schefter, and there's a very good chance other Kansas City starters will follow the same path at the star quarterback. Kelce would be among the most likely candidates to get the day off given his veteran status, heavy workload throughout the campaign and key role in the team's offense. If the 35-year-old does indeed spend the game on the sideline, Noah Gray and Peyton Hendershot would likely lead the Chiefs' tight-end corps against Denver.
Dec 25, 2024
Sets new frachise record Wednesday
Kelce had eight receptions on 11 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in Wednesday's 29-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce snapped out of a minor slump with his best fantasy performance since Week 8 against Las Vegas (10-90-1). The future Hall of Famer passed current member and former Chief, Tony Gonzalez, for the club record in career receiving touchdowns (67). With the Chiefs clinching the No. 1 seed throughout the playoffs following Wednesday's win, the team may opt to rest some of its key players in Week 18. Kansas City has 10 days off before a road tilt against Denver next Sunday, so make sure to check on the status of the team's key fantasy options leading up to that matchup.
Dec 21, 2024
Slump continues in Week 16 win
Kelce caught five of seven targets for 30 yards in Saturday's 27-19 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had 15 receiving yards in each half. His touchdown drought now sits at six games, and Kelce has 45 or fewer receiving yards in each of his last three outings. The slumping tight end won't have to wait long to try to get back on track, as the Chiefs will be right back in action Wednesday against the Steelers for a Christmas Day matinee.
Dec 15, 2024
Gets four catches in win
Kelce secured four of eight targets for 27 yards in the Chiefs' 21-7 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The star tight end had a quiet afternoon by his standards, but it came on an afternoon when Patrick Mahomes averaged just 4.2 yards per attempt overall. Kelce finished third in receptions and receiving yards while also checking in second in targets, and he'll head into a Week 16 home matchup against the Texans on Saturday afternoon with at least Sunday's catch total in four consecutive contests.
Dec 8, 2024
Becomes fastest TE to 12,000 yards
Kelce caught five of six targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce became the fastest tight end in NFL history to reach 12,000 career receiving yards, doing so in his 172nd regular-season game. Tony Gonzalez had the previous record at 210 games. Kelce's team-high 45 receiving yards included a nine-yard catch on third-and-7 coming out of the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, which allowed Kansas City to run the clock down to one second before Matthew Wright kicked a game-winning 31-yard field goal. Heading into a Week 15 road game against the Browns, Kelce has 80 catches for 682 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Nov 29, 2024
Garners 13 targets Friday
Kelce finished with seven receptions on 13 targets for 68 yards in Friday's 19-17 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the Chiefs in targets while recording his second highest total in that category in the 2024 season. Friday's yards also marked the star's highest total since Week 9. Backup wide receiver Justin Watson vultured Patrick Mahomes' only passing touchdown in the win, which has been the story for Kelce's fantasy season through 12 games (two touchdowns). The 34-year-old still looks beastly with the ball in his hands, so the potential for a breakout performance is still in the cards for frustrated managers. Kelce posted a healthy 7-89-0 line against the Chargers in Week 4, with the two teams set to face each other against next Sunday at Arrowhead.
Nov 24, 2024
Overshadowed in solid performance
Kelce recorded six receptions on eight targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the team with eight targets and surpassed 50 receiving yards in four of six games since the Chiefs' Week 6 bye. His performance was highlighted by long gains of 27 and 19 yards, both of which went on to set up field goals. Despite the solid performance, Kelce was overshadowed by Noah Gray, who caught a pair of touchdowns.
Nov 17, 2024
Stymied in KC's first loss
Kelce was held to two receptions (four targets) for eight yards in Sunday's 30-21 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
It was a game to forget for both Kelce and the Chiefs after the team suffered its first loss of the 2024 campaign. The star tight end couldn't even salvage fantasy managers' Sundays with a touchdown on either of his short catches. To make matters worse, backup Noah Gray poached two potential scoring chances from the longtime starter in Kansas City. Kelce was coming off of his best three-week stretch of the season prior to Sunday's dud, so look for better results as the Chiefs attempt to bounce back against the Panthers next Sunday.
Nov 10, 2024
Remains productive in win
Kelce secured eight of 12 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 16-14 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce set the pace for the Chiefs in receptions and targets while checking in just a yard short of Kareem Hunt for a tie for the team lead in that category as well. The star tight end also recorded his second touchdown of the season on a two-yard grab late in the first half, and he now boasts a 32-254-2 line on 40 targets in his last three games alone as Kansas City prepares for a Week 11 road showdown against the Bills.
Nov 5, 2024
Stays hot with 14 catches Monday
Kelce hauled in 14 of 16 targets for 100 yards with one lost fumble in Monday's overtime win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce reached triple digits in receiving yards for the first time this season, and the Chiefs needed every yard after narrowly defeating the Buccaneers. The star tight end has generating a whopping 24 receptions and 190 yards with a touchdown over his previous two contests. The presence of trade acquisition DeAndre Hopkins has clearly benefited Kelce by giving Kansas City another threat to worry about. The latter could be in store for a big second half based on recent developments as the Chiefs prepare to host the Broncos on Sunday.
Oct 27, 2024
Biggest fantasy game in 2024
Kelce corralled 10 of 12 targets for 90 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce posted a strong receiving line complemented by his first receiving touchdown of the 2024 season. The star tight end finally put it all together for fantasy managers who drafted him early in drafts this year. Perhaps the addition of a proven No. 1 wideout like DeAndre Hopkins will finally draw defenses away from Kelce. Up next for the Chiefs is a primetime matchup against the Buccaneers next Monday.
Oct 20, 2024
Little room to operate in win
Kelce finished with four receptions (five targets) for 17 yards in Sunday's 28-18 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
It was clear that the 49ers came into this contest with a gameplan to limit Kelce for a shorthanded Chiefs' offense. While the opponent's defensive strategy was successful, it did not lead to a win after Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City's rushing attack (four combined touchdowns) took care of business Sunday. Kelce was coming off of a pair of strong fantasy outings in his previous two contests, so managers will be hoping for a bounce-back performance against the Raiders next Sunday.
Oct 7, 2024
Season-best effort in win
Kelce secured nine of 10 targets for 70 yards in the Chiefs' 26-13 win over the Saints on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the Chiefs in receptions and targets on the night with figures that also qualified as season highs. The star tight end has reemerged over the last pair of contests after a worrisome first three games, having generated a 14-159 line in the former span. Kelce's contributions have been particularly critical considering the depleted nature of the team's receiving corps, which has now lost its top two members in Rashee Rice (IR, knee) and Marquise Brown (IR, shoulder). Kelce should continue to play an elevated role when Kansas City emerges from a Week 6 bye to face the 49ers in a road Super Bowl rematch on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Sep 29, 2024
Performance improves
Kelce recorded seven receptions on nine targets for 89 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
After combining to earn only 12 targets through three games this season, Kelce finally saw a more significant role in the Chiefs' offense. He had a few big gains on the day, the longest of which was a 38-yard catch down the right sideline on the team's first possession. While Kelce isn't likely to return to his production from past campaigns, he'll almost certainly regain his role as the centerpiece of the offense with Rashee Rice (knee) suffering an apparent long-term injury Sunday.
Sep 22, 2024
Still searching for breakout game
Kelce caught four of five targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's slow start continued in the first half, as he had just four yards on two targets. He made a nine-yard catch on the first play of the third quarter and added an 18-yard catch four plays later but then went quiet again. The star tight end has a meager 69 receiving yards and has yet to score a touchdown heading into a Week 4 road game against the Chargers.
Sep 15, 2024
Slow start continues
Kelce caught one of three targets for five yards and added a one-yard run in Sunday's 26-25 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Kelce came just short of his first touchdown of the season in the third quarter, getting tackled inside the 1-yard line before backup left tackle Wanya Morris caught a touchdown on the next play to give Kansas City a 17-16 lead. The star tight end had a 41-yard catch called back on a holding penalty in the fourth quarter, so he came close to significantly improving his meager stat line on two separate occasions. As things stand, Kelce has just 39 receiving yards on the season heading into Week 3 against the Falcons.
Sep 6, 2024
Quiet night in opener
Kelce secured three of four targets for 34 yards in the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Ravens on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had an uncharacteristically quiet night to start the season, with fellow tight end Noah Gray actually matching his reception total and outgaining him by three yards. Most of Kelce's production came on an impressive 23-yard reception, as the veteran star ceded the spotlight to Rashee Rice and rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy. Kelce should naturally play a more robust role on many weeks this season, and he'll aim to make good on that possibility against the Bengals in a Week 2 home matchup on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Aug 17, 2024
Catches behind-the-back pass
Kelce caught one reception for eight yards on one target in Saturday's preseason game against Detroit.
ANALYSIS
What looked like a nifty trick play turned out to be a comical and fortuitous accident, as Patrick Mahomes threw a behind-the-back screen pass to Kelce that was later clarified as Kelce running the wrong route and Mahomes throwing behind the back out of momentary necessity. Either way, it's more of the same story from the past six years -- Mahomes and Kelce dominating, be it by accident or design. Particularly with the downfield speed of Marquise Brown (sternoclavicular) and Xavier Worthy spreading defenses thin, Kelce should see a lot of targets in 2024.
Aug 10, 2024
One catch in preseason loss
Kelce brought in his only target for seven yards in the Chiefs' 26-13 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was out there with the rest of the Chiefs' first-team offense on the opening possession and was on the receiving end of Patrick Mahomes' third and final completion of the night. The perennial Pro Bowl tight end doesn't realistically need many preseason reps, but he could see at least a couple of additional possessions in Kansas City's second preseason game next Saturday afternoon against the Lions.
Apr 29, 2024
Inks two-year extension
Kelce and the Chiefs agreed to terms Monday on a two-year extension that makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The exact terms of Kelce's new extension have yet to be disclosed, but coming off another Super Bowl title and heading into his age-35 season, Kelce's pay rate will top his position. The four-time All-Pro had logged seven consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards before being held to a 93-984-5 receiving line in 2023, but in Kansas City's four postseason contests he operated in prime form, scoring three touchdowns while never falling below 70 receiving yards. The Chiefs added veteran wideout Marquise Brown (heel) and rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy this offseason, and both players are capable of taking the top off opposing defenses, which could open things up for Kelce during the 2024 campaign. Those additions may also foreshadow a more aggressive offensive game plan led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Feb 11, 2024
Nine receptions in Super Bowl
Kelce recorded nine receptions on 10 targets for 93 yards in Sunday's 25-22 overtime victory over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was held nearly silent in the first half, as he recorded only one catch on one target for one yard. However, he came alive in the final two quarters to help the Chiefs to a comeback Super Bowl victory. His biggest play of the game came on the final drive of regulation, when he shook free of Fred Werner and picked up 22 yards to give Harrison Butker a short field-goal attempt to tie the game. Kelce had a relatively underwhelming regular season, but he posted no fewer than 70 receiving yards in each of Kansas City's four postseason games while also tallying three touchdowns in the same span.
Jan 28, 2024
Monster game en route to SB LVIII
Kelce hauled in all 11 of his targets Sunday for 116 yards and a touchdown in a 17-10 win over Baltimore in the AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Kelce hit the ground running with three receptions (including a 19-yard touchdown) on the Chiefs' first offensive possession Sunday. The star tight end would team up with Patrick Mahomes eight more times as the teammates proceeded to systematically dissect one of the top-rated defenses in the league. Kansas City's defense flexed its own muscle to close out the low-scoring victory and send Kelce and Co. to Las Vegas to face either the Lions or the 49ers on Feb. 11 for Super Bowl LVIII.
Jan 21, 2024
First touchdown since Week 11
Kelce recorded five receptions on six targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Kelce snapped out of a significant slump in the wild-card round, and he took another step forward against the Bills. His strong rapport with Patrick Mahomes shone through, as he led the Chiefs in targets and accounted for two of the team's three touchdowns with catches of 22 and three yards. The performance was particularly well-timed, as it was Kelce's first time finding the end zone since Week 11 and his first multi-touchdown game of the season. He'll face a tough test in the AFC Championship Game against Baltimore, as the Ravens have allowed only three scores to opposing tight ends this season.

Shows signs of improvement
Kelce recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 71 yards in Saturday's 26-7 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
It would be a stretch to call this a vintage performance from Kelce, particularly because he had two drops -- one of which would have been a gain of at least 15 yards. However, it was still his highest yardage total since Week 14 and he did have significant gains of 22 and 13 yards. Kelce has been overshadowed by Rashee Rice in recent weeks, but he'll still remain key to the Chiefs' additional playoff run.

Won't play Sunday
Kelce (coach's decision) has been ruled out for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was limited in all three of Kansas City's practices this week but approached the contest without an injury designation. However, with the Chiefs locked into the No. 3 seed in the the AFC playoffs, the star tight end will end up being rested Sunday along with other key starters such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In his absence, Noah Gray are Blake Bell slated to serve as the team's tight ends. Kelce will finish the 2023 campaign with 93 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns over 15 games, spelling an end to his streak of seven consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.
Jan 5, 2024
Cleared to play Week 18
Kelce (neck) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was limited in all three of Kansas City's practices but will be available for the regular-season finale. Locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC either way, the Chiefs have the option to rest some of their top players in preparation for the playoffs, and they will be starting Blaine Gabbert rather than Patrick Mahomes under center. Kelce needs just 16 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the eighth consecutive season, but it's likely that he'll play just long enough to reach that threshold before joining Mahomes on the sidelines.
Jan 4, 2024
Another limited practice
Kelce (neck) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After logging back-to-back limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Kelce will likely need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Chargers. That said, with the Chiefs entrenched as the AFC's No. 3 seed in the playoffs, the star tight end profiles as a candidate to be rested this weekend if he's anything less than 100 percent ahead of Week 18 action.
Jan 3, 2024
Logs limited practice
Kelce (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce now has two more chances to practice fully ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, but with the Chiefs locked into the AFC's No. 3 playoff seed, the tight end is a candidate to be rested this weekend, especially if he's less than 100 percent. Kelce approaches Week 18 action needing 16 more receiving yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the eighth consecutive season.
Dec 31, 2023
Poor performance against Bengals
Kelce recorded three catches on four targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 25-17 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Kansas City's offense showed signs of improvement in its Week 17 win over the Bengals, though that didn't carry over to Kelce's individual performance. Instead, his longest gain of the day went for only 10 yards, and he was held under 50 receiving yards for the third straight contest. Despite the poor close to the campaign, Kelce needs only 16 yards in Kansas City's regular-season finale to reach the century mark for the eighth straight year.
Dec 25, 2023
Five receptions in Christmas loss
Kelce caught five of seven targets for 44 yards in Monday's 20-14 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Vegas' pass rush was in Patrick Mahomes' face most of the afternoon, but surprisingly Kelce didn't see added target volume as a safety valve for his QB. The tight end has only seen double-digit targets three times this season -- his lowest total since 2019 -- but Kelce still sits just 32 yards short of his eighth straight 1,000-yard campaign heading into a Week 17 clash with a Bengals defense that ranks last in the league in catches and yards allowed to TEs in 2023.
Dec 17, 2023
Five grabs against Pats
Kelce caught five of seven targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Bill Belichick's defense made it a priority to stop Kelce from beating them, and while it wasn't a successful formula for winning the game, it did lead the tight end to his lowest yardage total since Week 9. Kelce is 76 yards short of another 1,000-yard campaign and 15 receptions away from his fourth season with at least 100, and he'll look to pad his totals in Week 16 against a Raiders defense he delivered a 6-91-0 line against on seven targets in their first 2023 meeting.
Dec 10, 2023
Nearly plays hero in Week 14 loss
Kelce caught six of 10 targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The tight end led Kansas City in receiving yards, and he nearly produced the winning score on the team's final drive -- Kelce caught a deep pass over the middle from Patrick Mahomes, and before he could be tackled he flipped a lateral to Kadarius Toney, who dashed untouched into the end zone. Unfortunately, Toney got flagged on the play for lining up in the neutral zone, wiping out the touchdown. Kelce hasn't scored a TD of his own in three straight games but has topped 80 yards in each one, and he sits 104 yards short of his eighth straight 1,000-yard campaign heading into a Week 15 clash with the Patriots.
Dec 3, 2023
Tallies 81 yards in loss
Kelce recorded four receptions on five targets for 81 yards in Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce saw surprisingly limited target volume given that the Chiefs were playing from behind for the entire game. However, he still turned in one of his better performances of the season thanks to long gains of 27, 23 and 21 yards. After combining to record only 116 yards across three games from Weeks 8-11, Kelce has now topped 80 receiving yards in consecutive contests heading into a Week 14 showdown against Buffalo.
Nov 26, 2023
Sniffs century mark on six catches
Kelce finished with six receptions for 91 yards in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce caught all but one of his targets and finished with his most receiving yards since his monster Week 7 performance against the Chargers. Perhaps the superstar had extra motivation Sunday after a late fumble in last week's loss to Philadelphia cost his team an opportunity to make a comeback attempt against a fellow contender. Whatever the case, the end result was another solid day of production for fantasy managers, who have received 70 receptions, 732 yards and five touchdowns from the fantasy stud through 10 games. A road matchup against the Packers is on tap for Kelce and the Chiefs next Sunday.
Nov 20, 2023
Mixed bag in Week 11 loss
Kelce brought in seven of nine targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 21-17 loss to the Eagles on Monday night. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Kelce finished as the Chiefs leader in receptions on the night and also recorded his fifth touchdown grab of the season on a four-yard catch with 1:45 remaining in the first half. However, he was consistently held to short gains by the Eagles defense, and his fumble at the Eagles' nine-yard line early in the fourth quarter ended up being very critical in what turned out to be a four-point loss. Kelce now has at least seven receptions in five of his first nine games and next tangles with the improving Raiders on the road in Week 12.
Nov 5, 2023
Held in check by Dolphins
Kelce caught three of four targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 21-14 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins defense clearly came into the game with a plan to make sure Kelce wouldn't beat them, as the superstar tight end was double and triple-teamed on every route he ran. The 14 receiving yards was his lowest output since he was held to one catch for six yards in Week 1 of the 2018 season, but with Kansas City on its bye next week, expect Kelce to be well-rested and ready to rebound in Week 11 for a Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles.
Oct 29, 2023
Modest production as QB struggles
Kelce finished with six receptions on nine targets for 58 yards in Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Patrick Mahomes turned the ball over three times while failing to score a touchdown Sunday, resulting in down games for most of Kansas City's position players. Kelce still produced a useful fantasy line despite his quarterback's struggles, but it felt like a down game after the star tight end combined for 31 receptions, 370 yards and two touchdown over the previous three weeks. Kelce and the entire Chiefs offense will look to rebound as they prepare for a potential shootout against the Dolphins in London next Sunday.
Oct 22, 2023
Season-best effort in win
Kelce secured 12 of 13 targets for 179 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 31-17 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the Chiefs in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon by a wide margin, with his 142 receiving yardage total over the first two quarters also serving as a career high for a half. The perennial All-Pro was much quieter in the second half, but he still posted season-best figures across his receiving line. Kelce has also now eclipsed the 100-yard mark in consecutive games for the first time in 2023 heading into a Week 8 road divisional clash with the Broncos.
Oct 12, 2023
Stellar in Week 6 win
Kelce (ankle) secured all nine targets for 124 yards in the Chiefs' 19-8 win over the Broncos on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
As expected Kelce fought through his gimpy ankle after also having done so in the second half of the Week 5 win over the Vikings on Sunday. The perennial All-Pro looked to be without physical limitations, leading the Chiefs in receptions, receiving yards and targets with game-high figures. Kelce left no doubt about his health early on Kansas City's first possession, recording five-and six-yard gains on Patrick Mahomes' first two pass attempts. Kelce's yardage figure was also a season high, and he'll now have extra time to recover ahead of a Week 7 home divisional clash against the Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Oct 12, 2023
Suits up Thursday
Kelce (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs' star tight end played through a low-ankle sprain this past Sunday against the Vikings en route to recording a 10-67-1 receiving line, and he'll continue to play through the issue versus Denver, with his ankle heavily taped, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. In the absence of any in-game limitations or setbacks, Kelce -- who has caught 27 of his 37 targets for 222 yards and three TDs in four games to date -- should continue to maintain his key role in Kansas City's offense, with Noah Gray and Blake Bell available to handle complementary TE snaps for the team.
Oct 12, 2023
Expected to face Broncos
Kelce (ankle) is expected to play Thursday against the Broncos, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Kelce -- who remains listed as questionable for the contest -- is expected to play with his right ankle heavily taped. Official confirmation of the star tight end's status for Thursday's contest will arrive when the Chiefs post their inactive list approximately 90 minutes ahead of the game's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 12, 2023
Trending toward playing Thursday
Kelce (ankle) is trending upward and the tight end should be able to play Thursday night against the Broncos, barring a pre-game setback, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was deemed questionable for the contest after being listed as limited on Tuesday and Wednesday's practice/injury reports. Kansas City's top pass catcher worked through a low-ankle sprain this past Sunday against Minnesota and it appears as though he'll continue to do so versus Denver. Official confirmation of his Week 6 status, either way, will arrive once the Chiefs' inactives are posted ahead of Thursday's 8:15 p.m. kickoff.
Oct 11, 2023
Questionable for TNF
Kelce (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Kelce played through a low-ankle sprain Sunday in Minnesota en route to a 10-67-1 receiving line, but that doesn't automatically mean he'll be able to do so again four days later. He did practice Tuesday in a limited capacity, with reporters noting that his right ankle was heavily taped. If Kelce ends up inactive Thursday night, Noah Gray will take on a lot of his usual snaps and routes, albeit without the certainty of target volume that accompanies Kelce when he's on the field.
Oct 10, 2023
Officially limited Tuesday
Kelce (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Prior to Tuesday's session, coach Andy Reid told Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site that Kelce was slated to take part in drills. During the media-access portion, Kelce was spotted with a heavy tape job on the sprained right ankle that he sustained Sunday at Minnesota. He was able to play through the issue en route to 10 catches (on 11 targets) for 67 yards and one touchdown, but it remains to be seen if he can put himself in a position to suit up Thursday against the Broncos. Wednesday's injury report will unveil whether or not Kelce has a designation ahead of that contest.
Oct 10, 2023
Expected to practice Tuesday
Coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that Kelce (ankle) is in line to practice Tuesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
In the wake of Sunday's win at Minnesota, it was revealed that the injury that knocked Kelce out for a spell was a low-ankle sprain. He was able to play through it with his right foot heavily taped and even recorded a touchdown among his 10-catch, 67-yard performance on 11 targets. With a short week to prepare for Thursday's matchup with the Broncos, the Chiefs didn't hold practice Monday but were required to post an injury report, which estimated Kelce as a non-participant. It appears the tight end will be at least limited on Tuesday's version following Reid's comments.
Oct 9, 2023
Estimated as DNP Monday
Kelce (ankle) was listed as did not participate on the Chiefs' estimated practice report Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs host the Broncos this upcoming Thursday night and were required to release an injury report. Kelce exited Sunday's Week 5 win over the Vikings late in the second quarter but was able to return after halftime with a heavy tape job on the affected ankle. With the quick turnaround this week, it could prove tough for Kelce to get back on the field three days from now. He's reportedly dealing with a low-ankle sprain. Noah Gray and Blake Bell would again handle tight end duties for Kansas City if Kelce is unable to play.
Oct 8, 2023
Has low-ankle sprain
Kelce sustained a low right-ankle sprain during Sunday's 27-20 win at Minnesota, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. In the end, Kelce returned and hauled in 10 of 11 targets for 67 yards and one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
After injuring his right foot late in the first half, Kelce was away from the field until well into the third quarter. He was able to rejoin his teammates with his right ankle heavily taped and didn't look worse for wear, capping Week 5 with a four-yard touchdown grab at the 2:45 mark in the third. With an injury in tow and a short week to prepare for Thursday's game against the Broncos, Kelce is a candidate to have practice limitations placed on him by the Chiefs from Monday through Wednesday.
Oct 8, 2023
Returns to game
Kelce (ankle) has returned to Sunday's matchup with the Vikings, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce exited Sunday's contest late in the first half after suffering a non-contact right ankle injury, but he is back in the game. The tight end has caught six passes for 36 yards to this point. More information on his injury will likely come following the game.
Oct 8, 2023
Dealing with ankle issue
Kelce officially is questionable to return to Sunday's game at Minnesota due to a right ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Kelce sustained a non-contact injury to his right ankle late in the second quarter and was seen limping badly on the sideline and to the locker room before halftime. He made his way back to the sideline to begin the third quarter with his right ankle heavily taped, but it remains to be seen if he'll reenter the contest. If Kelce is unable to do so, Noah Gray and Blake Bell will handle TE duties for the Chiefs.
Oct 8, 2023
Exits Sunday's game
Kelce headed to the locker before the end of the first half of Sunday's game against the Vikings after sustaining a possible foot or ankle injury, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Look for the Chiefs to specify the tight end's issue at some point soon, but before sustaining his non-contact injury, Kelce caught five of his six targets for 22 yards. Next up for the team's TE reps in his absence are Noah Gray and Blake Bell.
Oct 2, 2023
Modest output on SNF
Kelce finished with six receptions on nine targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The buzz surrounding Kelce and new acquaintance Taylor Swift carried over to Week 5 with the pop star in attendance for Sunday's matchup. Unfortunately for Kelce's fantasy managers, he was unable to recreate last week's touchdown grab. Patrick Mahomes was not in sync with his top receiving option on a couple of miscues, one of which resulted in an interception. Kelce still produced a respectable receiving line while finishing as Mahomes' most-targeted receiver. Kansas City's superstar duo will look to get back on track in a favorable matchup against Minnesota next Sunday.
Sep 24, 2023
Leading receiver in easy win
Kelce turned eight targets into seven receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Kelce brought his A-game to Arrowhead Stadium with pop star Taylor Swift in attendance for Sunday's blowout victory, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Kelce -- a star in his own right -- wound up leading the team in receiving while cashing in his second touchdown in as many games this season. More importantly, the 33-year-old showed no limitations from the knee injury that forced him to miss Week 1. Kelce's growing fanbase can find him and the Chiefs taking on the Jets on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
Sep 17, 2023
Nine targets, TD in season debut
Kelce (knee) caught four of nine targets for 26 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Making his season debut after sitting out the Week 1 loss to the Lions, Kelce had a 17-yard catch erased by a holding penalty in the first quarter and didn't register his first reception until just over three minutes remained in the first half. After shaking off the rust, Kelce got going in the second half, capping Kansas City's first drive of the third quarter with a nine-yard touchdown to take a 14-6 lead. The star tight end was the only player targeted more than five times by Patrick Mahomes, and Kelce should start to turn that attention into more yardage in Week 3 against the Bears and beyond. Kelce comes into 2023 riding a streak of seven consecutive seasons over 1,000 receiving yards.
Sep 17, 2023
Returns to action Sunday
Kelce (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was officially listed as questionable for the contest after practicing in a limited fashion this week, but the star tight end will give it a go Sunday after missing the Chiefs' regular-season opener back on Sept. 7. Barring any in-game setbacks or limitations, Kelce should reclaim his role as a top target for QB Patrick Mahomes in a Kansas City passing offense that could use a spark following the team's 21-20 loss to the Lions in Week 1.
Sep 17, 2023
Looks set for season debut
Kelce (knee) is expected to suit up for Sunday's road matchup against the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce is expected to continue wearing a compression sleeve on his knee, as has been the case at practice. The star tight end was forced to miss Kansas City's season-opening loss to the Lions due to a bone bruise in his right knee, but Schefter reports that the week off allowed Kelce to get "his legs back." Kelce's status will be made official roughly 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, when the Chiefs' inactive list is released.
Sep 15, 2023
Questionable, but expected to play
Kelce (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars after practicing in a limited fashion this week.
ANALYSIS
Kelce is working his way back from a bone bruise in his right knee, an injury he sustained in a Sept. 5 practice before he ultimately sat out the Chiefs' season-opening loss to the Lions. Though Kelce wasn't able to turn in a full practice during Week 2 prep, head coach Andy Reid told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network earlier Friday that the standout tight end is expected to play this weekend. Fantasy managers should thus feel comfortable inserting Kelce into Week 2 lineups, even though his availability won't be officially confirmed until the Chiefs release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Sep 15, 2023
Gets green light for Sunday
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that Kelce (knee) will play in Sunday's game against the Jaguars, barring any setbacks leading up to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the Chiefs' Week 1 loss to the Lions with a bone bruise in his knee, Kelce returned to the practice field as a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday. Reid hasn't revealed whether Kelce will upgrade to full activity during the Chiefs' final practice of the week Friday, and while the tight end could still end up taking a questionable tag into Sunday, he's apparently shown enough progress in his recovery from the injury to convince the Kansas City staff he'll be ready to play against Jacksonville. Assuming Kelce does in fact gain clearance for Sunday, he should immediately settle back into a high-volume role in a Kansas City pass-catching corps that didn't have any of its members notably step up in his absence during the season opener.
Sep 14, 2023
Still limited at practice
Kelce (knee) remained limited during Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network previously relayed via offensive coordinator Matt Nagy that Kelce looked good at practice Wednesday, but acknowledged that coach Andy Reid and GM Brett Veach would make the decision on whether the tight end will play Sunday against the Jaguars. With that in mind, we suspect that Kelce will head into the weekend officially listed as questionable by the Chiefs.
Sep 14, 2023
Week 2 status TBD
Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy noted Thursday that Kelce (knee) looked good at practice Wednesday, but added that coach Andy Reid and GM Brett Veach will make the call on whether the tight end plays Sunday against the Jaguars, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
With that in mind, Nagy indicated that the Chiefs have prepared game-plans for scenarios in which Kelce plays and if he doesn't. The tight end was officially limited at practice Wednesday and based on Nagy's comments, it seems likely that Kelce will approach Sunday's contest listed as questionable.
Sep 13, 2023
Logs limited practice
Kelce (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After hyperextending his knee during last Tuesday's practice, Kelce was made inactive for the Chiefs' season-opening loss to Detroit two days later, but his ability to practice Wednesday is a positive sign regarding his Week 2 status. James Palmer of NFL Network previously indicated that Kelce pushed to play against the Lions, which suggests that the TE's absence may be limited to one contest.
Sep 13, 2023
In line to practice
Kelce (knee) is slated to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce hyperextended his knee during last Tuesday's practice and ended up being inactive for the Chiefs' 21-20 season-opening loss to the Lions on Thursday. While the star tight end is in line to be limited Wednesday, his ability to practice in any capacity is nonetheless a positive sign ahead of this weekend's contest against the Jaguars.
Sep 10, 2023
Could play in Week 2
Kelce has already begun the rehab process with his knee and could be ready to play in the Chiefs' Week 2 matchup with the Jaguars on Sept. 17, Jay Glazer reported on the "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame show.
ANALYSIS
Glazer noted that Kelce went through a set of workouts on Saturday without the knee swelling up afterward, giving the Chiefs some early optimism that he'll be ready to play Week 2. When Kelce went down with the knee injury in practice Tuesday, the Chiefs were initially concerned that he suffered a tibial plateau fracture, which would have kept the tight end out for the season. Fortunately for Kelce and the Chiefs, he avoided a fracture but was diagnosed with a deep bone bruise in the knee, which kept him out of Thursday's season-opening loss to the Lions. Kelce is now hard at work to try to return next week.
Sep 7, 2023
Officially inactive Thursday
Kelce (knee) is officially inactive for Thursday night's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Kelce suffered a hyperextension and a bone bruise in his knee during Tuesday's practice, and he'll sit this one out with an eye toward potentially returning to action in the Chiefs' Week 2 contest against the Jaguars on Sept. 17. In his absence, Noah Gray figures to fill in as the team's top pass-catching tight end, though we suspect that Kelce's normal allotment of targets will be spread around between Gray and the team's other pass catchers, a group that includes fellow TEs Blake Bell and Matt Bushman, as well as Kansas City's key WRs and RBs.
Sep 7, 2023
Won't play in opener
Kelce (knee) is not slated to play Thursday night against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Kelce's status will arrive once the Chiefs' Week 1 inactives are posted, but in his looming absence, Noah Gray, Blake Bell and Matt Bushman are in line to handle the team's TE duties. Per James Palmer of NFL Network, Kelce pushed to play Thursday, a context that bodes well for his Week 2 status.
Sep 7, 2023
Not in line to play Thursday
Kelce (knee), who is listed as questionable, is expected to sit out Thursday's game against the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the tight end may still test out his injured knee in a pregame workout, but his official status will be confirmed either way about 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET starting time. If Kelce ends up inactive for the Week 1 contest, his next chance to play will arrive Sept. 17 against the Jaguars.
Sep 7, 2023
Looks like true game-time decision
The Chiefs will put Kelce (knee), who is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions, through a workout this morning to determine his status, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce is just two days removed from suffering a hyperextension and a bone bruise in his knee, and it's looking like his status for the regular season-opener may come down to the wire. The Chiefs will officially release an inactive list ahead of Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, at which point fantasy managers will get a final say on whether Kelce will take the field, or whether Noah Gray will get a chance to step in as Patrick Mahomes' top pass-catching tight end. Kelce has been a near guarantee to approach or exceed double-digit targets when healthy, so if he does need to miss time it would foreshadow a bump in opportunities for all of Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore.
Sep 6, 2023
Listed as questionable for opener
Kelce (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Kelce hyperextended his knee during Tuesday's practice and didn't take part in Wednesday's session. The fact that he's listed as questionable for the season opener supports the notion that Kelce has avoided a long-term issue, but in any even, a decision on his Week 1 status could go down the wire ahead of Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. If Kelce is unable to face Detroit, Noah Gray would likely fill in as the Chiefs' top pass-catching tight end, while Kelce's high volume of targets would be spread around out among Gray and the team's receivers and running backs.
Sep 6, 2023
Week 1 status TBD
Kelce, who hyperextended his knee during Tuesday's practice, is thought to be dealing with a bone bruise ahead of Thursday night's season opener against the Lions, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report.
ANALYSIS
While Kelce is believed to have avoided a long-term knee injury, the timing of his issue clouds his Week 1 status. Per the report, once the swelling in the tight end's knee decreases, more should be known about his chances of facing the Lions. Added context on that front will arrive no later than Wednesday afternoon once the Chiefs' official injury report is posted.
Sep 5, 2023
Status in doubt for season opener
Kelce isn't believed to have suffered a long-term injury after hyperextending his knee in Tuesday's practice, but his status is in doubt for Thursday's season opener versus the Lions, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network report.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs won't know the full extent of Kelce's injury until the swelling in his knee subsides enough for him to receive X-rays and/or undergo an MRI, but the initial belief is that the standout tight end won't face an extended absence. However, with Kelce injuring the knee just two days before the season opener, he may not have sufficient time to heal to the point that he would be able to play. The Chiefs will provide a Week 1 injury designation for Kelce at the conclusion of Wednesday's practice, and if the eight-time Pro Bowler ends up being held out Thursday, Noah Gray would likely step in as Kansas City's top pass-catching tight end.
Sep 5, 2023
Listed as limited Tuesday
Kelce was listed as a limited practice participant Tuesday after Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed that the tight end exited the session early after hyperextending his knee.
ANALYSIS
Reid didn't elaborate much further on the severity of Kelce's injury but noted that the eight-time Pro Bowler's availability for Thursday's season opener versus the Lions is now uncertain. Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, teammate Skyy Moore -- who was running a route when Kelce suffered the injury -- noted that Kelce was able to walk off the field without any assistance from the Chiefs' staff. While Moore's comments offer some reassurance about Kelce's health, the Chiefs likely won't know the full scope of the star tight end's injury until after he's sent in for further testing. If Kelce is sidelined for Week 1 and/or any additional games to follow, Noah Gray would be the next man up to start and serve as Kansas City's top pass-catching tight end. Kelce sat out one game in 2021 due to COVID-19 protocols and missed games for rest purposes in Weeks 17 of the 2017 and 2020 seasons, but he hasn't been sidelined for injury-related reasons since 2013, his first year in the league.

Hyperextends knee at practice
Coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that Kelce suffered a hyperextended knee at practice, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's injury comes just days before Thursday's regular-season opener against the Lions and clouds his status for the contest. Reid called Kelce uncertain for Thursday's game, but said the team will continue to monitor his health, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic. Noah Gray would likely step up as Kansas City's top tight end if Kelce were to miss any time, but there's no easy replacement for Patrick Mahomes' usual go-to target. Top wideouts Kadarius Toney (knee), Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore would all see the largest bumps in targets if Kelce can't go.

Not expected to face Browns
Kelce isn't in line to see action in Saturday's preseason finale against the Browns, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Palmer adds that QB Patrick Mahomes and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling are also among the Kansas City players not expected to play Saturday. As Week 1 approaches, Kelce remains entrenched as the top fantasy option at his position due to his high-volume role in the Chiefs' Mahomes-helmed offense.
Aug 19, 2023
Big gain on one catch
Kelce brought in his only target for 20 yards in the Chiefs' 38-10 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce played the first quarter alongside Patrick Mahomes and other starters, making his mark with his one reception. The multi-time Pro Bowler is likely ready to go for the regular season following Saturday's workload, so he could well sit in next Saturday afternoon's preseason finale versus the Browns.
Aug 14, 2023
Makes cameo in preseason opener
Kelce logged five snaps in Sunday's 26-24 preseason loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the contest Coach Andy Reid suggested that Chiefs starters would see first-quarter action, and both Kelce and QB Patrick Mahomes (six snaps) made abbreviated appearances. It remains to be seen how much more, if any, preseason work Kelce sees in the next couple of weeks, but assuming no injury setbacks, the star tight end is on track to see plenty of snaps and targets in Week 1 versus the Lions.
Aug 11, 2023
Expected to log snaps Sunday
Coach Andy Reid indicated that Chiefs starters are in line to play about a quarter in Sunday's preseason opener against the Saints, Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Though it appears as though Kelce will see some action Sunday, his anticipated appearance figures to be abbreviated, given his importance to the team's offense. As the coming season approaches, Kelce remains an elite fantasy option and is viewed as the consensus top option at the tight end position.
Feb 12, 2023
Big performance in Super Bowl win
Kelce recorded six receptions on six targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-35 Super Bowl win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was one of the few things working for the Chiefs' offense in the first half, as he accounted for the team's first score of the game on an 18-yard grab. He also paced Kansas City in receiving yards, highlighted by a long grab of 22 yards. After an excellent regular season, Kelce ended the postseason with 257 receiving yards and four touchdowns across three games. He'll remain a key to the team's passing attack in 2023.
Jan 29, 2023
TD grab in conference championship
Kelce secured seven of eight targets for 78 yards and a touchdown and committed a fumble recovered by Kansas City during the Chiefs' 23-20 win over the Bengals in Sunday's AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had found production hard to come by against the Bengals defense in the last three meetings over the last two seasons, but he appeared to be on his way to a big day Sunday after amassing a 4-55-1 line in the first half. The touchdown came from 14 yards out on a fourth-down play late in the first half to extend the Chiefs' lead to 13-3 at the time, but Kelce was largely kept in check over the final two quarters. Nevertheless, he'll be set for potentially even more work than usual during the Super Bowl LVII matchup against the Eagles in two weeks' time if any of wideouts JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Mecole Hardman (pelvis), who all left Sunday's contest with their injuries, remain sidelined.
Jan 29, 2023
Suits up Sunday
Kelce (back) is listed as active for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Per FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, the star tight end felt his back lock up on the final play of Friday's practice and as a result Kelce was listed as questionable for Sunday's contest. With his availability versus Cincinnati confirmed, Kelce should remain a key cog in the Chiefs' passing attack provided his back spasms don't flare up again in-game. If he's limited at all or suffers any setbacks, however, added TE snaps would be available for Noah Gray and Jody Fortson.
Jan 29, 2023
Sunday status TBD
Kelce (back) is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, according FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Kelce -- who is officially listed as questionable -- felt his back lock up on the final play of Friday's practice and has been receiving treatment to address the issue since then. ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that Kelce is expected to play Sunday, but Glazer indicates that the Chiefs want to see how the star tight end is able to run ahead of the team's 6:30 ET kickoff before a final call is made on his availability versus Cincinnati.
Jan 29, 2023
Expected to play
Kelce (back), officially listed as questionable, is expected to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce popped up on the injury report late in the week, though he managed to turn in a full practice session Friday. Given that and the magnitude of the game, it would be surprising to see Kelce sidelined. Even so, it will be worth confirming his status when inactives are released shortly before the 6:30 PM ET kickoff.
Jan 27, 2023
Added to injury report
Kelce (back), who was listed as a full practice participant Friday, is listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Kelce was deemed a full participant in the Chiefs' final practice of the week, the tight end's official 'questionable' designation makes his status worth tracking ahead of Sunday's 6:30 ET kickoff. Look for added context regarding Kelce's status to arrive closer to game time, but if he's limited at all versus Cincinnati, added snaps would be available for Noah Gray, Blake Bell and possibly Jody Fortson (elbow), who is a candidate to be activated off IR this weekend.
Jan 21, 2023
Impressive volume in playoff win
Kelce recorded 14 receptions on 17 targets for 98 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 27-20 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was targeted on nearly half of Kansas City's 37 pass attempts Saturday, and he responded with an excellent performance. The highlights came on touchdown grabs of eight and one yards, and he also recorded long gains of 15 and 14 yards. While he may not see this level of volume again, Kelce will remain the centerpiece of the Chiefs' offense as they head into an AFC Championship game matchup against either Buffalo or Cincinnati.
Jan 7, 2023
Quiet in easy victory
Kelce recorded six receptions on seven targets for 38 yards in Saturday's 31-13 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs were able to keep the ball on the ground in the victory, which suppressed the production of Kelce. He did manage a 15-yard reception late in the second quarter, and he was tackled at the one-yard line before Isaiah Pacheco punched in a touchdown late in the game. Despite the slow close to the regular season, Kelce recorded 110 receptions, 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns across 17 games on the campaign.
Jan 1, 2023
Quiet despite seven catches Sunday
Kelce secured seven of 10 targets for 43 yards in the Chiefs' 27-24 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's reception total was a team high on the afternoon, but his 43 receiving yards were his fewest since Week 5. The All-Pro tight end's final grab of the day was the clincher for the Chiefs, however, as his six-yard catch with under a minute remaining gave Kansas City a first down that forced Denver to use its last timeout. Kelce should fill his usual role in Week 18 on the road against the Raiders, the team that held him to a season-low 25 yards but also allowed him to rack up four touchdowns in the first meeting between the teams.
Dec 24, 2022
Breaks century mark again
Kelce corralled six of eight targets for 113 yards in Saturday's 24-10 win over the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Kelce did all the dirty work between the red zones in this one, producing his second 100-yard receiving effort in as many weeks. The star tight end has been on a touchdown drought over the last four weeks, but it is hard to complain about a player who has already contributed 12 scores through 15 games. Look for Kelce to remain heavily-involved in the offensive gameplan ahead of next Sunday's matchup against the Broncos.
Dec 18, 2022
Double-digit catches in key win
Kelce secured all 10 targets for 105 yards in the Chiefs' 30-24 overtime win over the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
While he didn't visit the end zone, Kelce still turned in a rewarding performance for fantasy managers by co-leading the Chiefs in receptions and setting the pace in receiving yardage. The All-Pro tight end's game-long reception was for a relatively modest 18 yards, so he certainly worked hard for everything he put on the stat sheet. Kelce recorded half his receptions in the second half, and he now has five 100-yard tallies on the season going into a Week 16 home showdown against the Seahawks on Saturday afternoon.
Dec 11, 2022
Four catches Sunday
Kelce caught four of nine targets for 71 yards in Sunday's 34-28 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
By his standards it was a quiet performance, but it also represents something close to his floor as Kelce has hauled in at least four passes in every game this season, either topping 50 yards or catching at least one TD (or both) each time. The superstar tight end also passed 1,000 receiving yards on the season Sunday, extending his own NFL record with his seventh straight campaign at that level. Kelce will look to make a bigger impact in Week 15 against the Texans.
Dec 4, 2022
Stifled by Cincy
Kelce caught four of six targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
It's what passes for a quiet day for the tight end, as Kelce failed to either score a TD or record at least 98 receiving yards for the first time since Week 2. He's now 32 yards short of his seventh straight 1,000-yard campaign, a figure Kelce should reach in Week 14 against the Broncos.
Nov 27, 2022
Another end zone trip
Kelce caught four of eight targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
The tight end led Kansas City in receiving yards by one over Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Kelce was on the other end of Patrick Mahomes' only TD pass of the afternoon. It's his fifth touchdown in the last three games and his NFL-leading 12th of the season -- that's among all players, not just TEs. Kelce will look to extend his scoring streak to four games in Week 13 against the Bengals.
Nov 21, 2022
Gifts fantasy teams three TDs
Kelce had six receptions (10 targets) for 115 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs were without two of its top wideouts and lost Kadarius Toney (hamstring) early in this contest, so it was up to Kelce to carry the load for a depleted receiving unit. The league's top tight end was up to the challenge, producing his second game with three or more touchdowns this season, including the game-winning score in the final moments of a thrilling comeback victory. Kelce has racked up 69 receptions, 855 yards and 11 touchdowns through 10 games, putting him well on pace to record his sixth consecutive season with at least 1,000 receiving yards. The 33-year-old will set a new career high in touchdowns if he can score next Sunday against a Rams defense that has struggled guarding tight ends over the last two years.
Nov 13, 2022
Finds end zone in win
Kelce secured six of seven targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 27-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had a relatively modest day by his standards, but he still co-led the Chiefs in receptions and set the pace in receiving yards. The talented tight end added his eighth touchdown grab of the season and first since he racked up four against the Raiders in Week when he brought in a seven-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes late in the third quarter. Kelce will head into a Week 11 road divisional showdown against the Chargers next Sunday night with no fewer than 81 receiving yards in four straight contests.
Nov 7, 2022
Cracks century mark on SNF
Kelce hauled in 10 of 17 targets for 106 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Kelce churned out another TE1 performance for his fantasy managers, but there were some points left on the table. The normally sure-handed tight end had a couple of ugly drops -- one of which turned into an interception for Patrick Mahomes -- resulting in a poor 58.8 catch rate (78.2 catch rate this season) and some visible frustration early in the contest. All things told, the end results were still strong for the fantasy stud. Kelce and the Chiefs will take on the Jaguars next Sunday.
Oct 23, 2022
Goes for 98 yards in win
Kelce caught six of eight targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 44-24 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce fell two yards short of his second consecutive 100-yard performance after going 8-108-0 against the Bills in Week 6. The 33-year-old also had a short touchdown vultured by backup Justin Watson. All things considered, it was another premiere performance from one of fantasy football's top tight ends. Kelce carries a healthy 47-553-7 line into the upcoming bye week. Fantasy managers will have to find a replacement for Kelce in Week 8 before the Chiefs resume play against the Titans on Nov. 6.
Oct 16, 2022
Tops century mark again
Kelce caught eight of 10 targets for 108 yards in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
While he wasn't able to follow up last week's record-setting four-TD performance by getting back into the end zone, Kelce still reached triple digits in receiving yards for the second time this season. The Kansas City superstar will look to stay productive in Week 7 against a banged-up 49ers defense that just gave up two TDs to Atlanta tight ends.
Oct 10, 2022
Scores four touchdowns
Kelce recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 25 yards and four touchdowns in Monday's 30-29 victory over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce didn't do much damage from a yardage perspective, as his longest catch went for only eight yards and he averaged just 3.1 yards per target. However, he more than made up for that with his prolific work around the end zone, as he accounted for all four of the Chiefs' touchdowns -- each of which came from the eight-yard line or closer. Kelce now has at least one score and five receptions in four of the team's five games this season and is clearly operating as Patrick Mahomes' top pass catcher.
Oct 3, 2022
Routinely comes up big
Kelce had nine receptions (10 targets) for 92 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-31 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Kelce put on a clinic against the Buccaneers' elite linebacking unit, scoring a touchdown 43 seconds into the contest while extending multiple drives with clutch receptions. The superstar tight end has lived up to that label, racking up 26 receptions, 322 yards and three touchdowns through four contests. He did appear to tweak something in the first half, but promptly returned to action a few plays later. Kelce remains Patrick Mahomes' most-trusted receiver heading into a divisional matchup against the Raiders next Monday.
Sep 25, 2022
Gets into end zone in win
Kelce secured four of eight targets for 58 yards and a touchdown and rushed once for one yard in the Chiefs' 20-17 loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The All-Pro tight end secured his second touchdown of the season late in the first quarter with a three-yard grab, but he had a relatively quiet day overall by his standards as Patrick Mahomes targeted eight different players overall. Kelce has no fewer than seven targets in any of his first three games and has collected 17 receptions overall in that span, sending him into a Week 4 road showdown against the Buccaneers with solid momentum.
Sep 15, 2022
Team-leading five grabs in win
Kelce brought in five of seven targets for 51 yards in the Chiefs' 27-24 win over the Chargers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had lit up the Chargers for 17 receptions, 295 yards and two touchdowns in two games last season, so expectations were naturally high coming into Thursday night. Kelce paced Kansas City in receptions and receiving yards and shared the team lead in targets on the night, also coming within a couple of yards of the end zone late in the third quarter when Derwin James stopped him in his tracks while impressively lifting him skyward. Nevertheless, the performance was modest by the perennial Pro Bowler's lofty standards. Kelce will look to get back closer to his Week 1 numbers (8-121-1) when the Chiefs face the Colts on the road in Week 3 a week from Sunday.
Sep 11, 2022
Tops century mark Sunday
Kelce caught eight of nine targets for 121 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
With Tyreek Hill now in Miami, Kelce is the clear top target for Patrick Mahomes, and he proved it in Week 1 by leading Kansas City in receptions, targets and receiving yards while hauling in Mahomes' first of five TD passes on the day. The tight end recorded his 30th career game with 100-plus yards, leaving Kelce just two games short of Rob Gronkowski's NFL record of 32, with Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (31) the only other TE in league history with 30 or more.
Jul 27, 2022
Agrees to contract adjustment
Kelce and the Chiefs agreed to terms on an adjusted contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's new deal increases his salary for the 2022 campaign, a move which should keep the star tight end happy for this season, but doesn't address potential contract disagreements down the line. The 32-year-old is under contract with Kansas City through 2025, on a deal which looks like a relative bargain for the team considering that Kelce is coming off six consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. His role on offense will be especially key in 2022 in the wake of the decision to trade Tyreek Hill, but as early as the 2023 offseason Kelce's contract could once again surface as an issue needing to be addressed.
Jul 10, 2022
Not worried about contract
Kelce said "you can't pay me enough" when KSHB 41's Aaron Ladd asked him if he's underpaid, but the tight end also suggested he isn't concerned with his contract right now, noting that he'll "let everyone else worry about the money situation."
ANALYSIS
It's probably not news to Kelce that he's signed extensions early and lost some money because of it. He's still been among the highest-paid tight ends in the league most years, which nonetheless makes him a bargain for the Chiefs when he puts up receiving stats more like a top WR than a top TE. The 32-year-old most recently signed an extension in August 2020, keeping him under contract through 2025 with projected cap hits of $8.9 million (2022), $14.7 million (2023), $16.4 million (2024) and $18.7 million (2025) -- good pay for a TE; not so much for someone with 5,106 receiving yards the past four years. Another extension wouldn't make sense given his age, unless it's just adding dummy years for cap reasons, but the Chiefs could give Kelce a modest raise this season or next to keep him happy. He isn't holding out, and is poised for a busy 2022 after the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill to Miami this spring.
Jan 30, 2022
Strong performance in playoff loss
Kelce caught 10 of 11 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was Kansas City's leader in targets, catches and receiving yards, producing yet another superb playoff performance -- he racked up at least 95 receiving yards in all six of Kansas City's playoff games over the past two seasons while scoring six touchdowns in those games. The tight end's five-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter gave the Chiefs a 14-3 lead, but the Bengals stormed back from an 11-point halftime deficit to pull the upset. Coming off a sixth consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season, Kelce's poised to remain one of the league's most productive tight ends next season.
Jan 24, 2022
Scores winning TD in OT
Kelce caught eight of nine targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-36 overtime win over Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Kelce saved his biggest contributions for last in this one. The tight end's 25-yard catch-and-run in the final seconds of the fourth quarter set up Harrison Butker's fame-tying 49-yard field goal as time expired. The Chiefs got the ball first in overtime, and Kelce ended it eight plays later with an eight-yard touchdown catch. He's a key cog in a brilliant Kansas City offense that should maintain its productive ways in the AFC Championship Game against the Bengals.
Jan 17, 2022
Monster two-score game
Kelce corralled five of seven targets for 108 yards and a touchdown Sunday, adding a two-yard passing touchdown on his lone pass attempt in a 42-21 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Patrick Mahomes and Kelce were in sync as per usual, and the latter even vultured a passing touchdown for good measure. The star tight end will face a stiff test in the AFC divisional round, as the Bills have surrendered the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends all season. That said, Buffalo's premier defensive unit hasn't had to face a matchup nightmare like Kelce all season long either. He should, rightfully, register as one of the priciest tight ends to roster in DFS formats next week.
Jan 8, 2022
Scores ninth touchdown
Kelce recorded four receptions on five targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 28-24 win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was involved early in the game, as he capped Kansas City's opening drive with a three-yard touchdown reception. Otherwise, he was limited in impact, though he did log a pair of 12-yard catches. Though Kelce has been limited to under 50 receiving yards in four of his last five games, he's also also found the end zone on four occasions in his last three contests. All told, Kelce closes the regular season having topped 1,000 yards for the seventh consecutive season, though it was his worst production since 2017.
Jan 2, 2022
Cools off after early TD
Kelce caught five of seven targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Bengals. He had minus-1 yard on one rushing attempt.
ANALYSIS
Kelce scored from three yards out in the first quarter and came inches from scoring his second touchdown of the game in the second. He was ruled just short and Darrel Williams scored on the ground on the next play. After looking unstoppable in the first half en route to a 28-17 lead, the entire Chiefs offense struggled in the second half as Cincinnati came back to end Kansas City's winning streak at eight games. With the top seed in the AFC still up for grabs, Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs stars should see their usual heavy workload in Week 18 against the Broncos.
Dec 29, 2021
Returns with full practice
Kelce (illness) isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report after being removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
ANALYSIS
A full practice at the beginning of the week suggests Kelce may be on track for his normal workload after missing the Chiefs' Week 16 win over Pittsburgh. Teammate Tyreek Hill played only 42 percent of snaps in Sunday's win after recovering from COVID-19, but Kelce will have had more time to rest and regain his strength before the upcoming matchup with Cincinnati on Sunday.
Dec 29, 2021
Returning to practice
Kelce (undisclosed) is on track to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list and practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It puts Kelce on track for Sunday's game against the Bengals, following his absence from a win over the Steelers on Sunday. Most of his vacated snaps went to backup tight end Noah Gray, but wide receivers Byron Pringle and Mecole Hardman did most of the damage with Kelce out and Tyreek Hill playing limited snaps. Kelce should have time to ramp up before Sunday, assuming all goes well in practice Wednesday.
Dec 26, 2021
Officially ruled out for Week 16
The Chiefs downgraded Kelce (not injury related) from questionable to out in advance of Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Though the Chiefs reinstated Kelce from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, the transaction was made with the hope that he would fully clear the NFL's return-to-play COVID-19 protocols ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, as of Sunday morning, Kelce was either still symptomatic of the virus or was unable to submit a second consecutive negative test result, so the star tight end will be sidelined for the first time this season. Blake Bell, Noah Gray and Nakia Griffin-Stewart are the Chiefs' available options at tight end, but none of the three is likely to take on the massive role in the passing game that Kelce typically handles.
Dec 26, 2021
Not available Week 16
Kelce (illness), who remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, won't be available for the contest after he was unable to clear the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocols, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Kansas City reinstated Kelce from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, the team only made the transaction so he would be on the 53-man roster and therefore eligible to play if he cleared the protocol Sunday morning. Kelce either hasn't tested negative twice at least 24 hours apart or is still experiencing symptoms of the virus, so he'll be forced to miss his first game of the season. The Chiefs will officially confirm Kelce as out with the release of their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Look for a combination of Blake Bell and Noah Gray to cover most of the snaps at tight end in Kelce's stead.
Dec 25, 2021
Off COVID list, now listed as questionable
The Chiefs have activated Kelce (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 reserve list and added him to the team's injury report as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Kelce has yet to clear COVID protocols, but the Chiefs are holding out hope that he may gain clearance ahead of Sunday's 4:25 ET game against the Steelers. If that doesn't happen, Kelce can then be made inactive by the team. Next up for the team's TE looks if Kelce isn't available Sunday are Blake Bell and Noah Gray.
Dec 25, 2021
Not yet cleared, but chance to play
Though Kelce (illness) has yet to clear COVID protocols, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it looks likely that the Chiefs will activate him from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Such a move would make Kelce eligible to suit up in Week 16 if he clears the necessary protocols, with Adam Schefter of ESPN noting that the star tight end "still has a shot" to do so prior to Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff.
Dec 20, 2021
Headed to COVID list
The Chiefs are in line to place Kelce on the reserve/COVID 19 list, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star and Adam Schefter of ESPN report.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, as a vaccinated player there's a chance that Kelce could be cleared in advance of Sunday's game against the Steelers, but for now Kansas City's available tight ends are Blake Bell and Noah Gray, with Nakia Griffin-Stewart and Mark Vital on the team's practice squad.
Dec 16, 2021
Career-best yardage total in win
Kelce brought in 10 of 13 targets for 191 yards and two touchdowns in the Chiefs' 34-28 overtime win over the Chargers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce paced the Chiefs in receiving yardage with what was a career-high tally, and the second of his two touchdowns, a 34-yarder in overtime, sealed the comeback win for Kansas City. The perennial Pro Bowler had also hauled in a game-tying seven-yard scoring strike from Patrick Mahomes with 1:16 remaining to give him his first multi-touchdown day since Week 1 against the Browns. Kelce's first opportunity to follow up what was a season high in receptions comes in a Week 16 home matchup a week from Sunday.
Dec 14, 2021
Another quiet week
Kelce compiled just three catches for 27 yards on four targets during Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kelce hasn't enjoyed 9the kind of success recently that he's accustomed to, reeling in a combined six passes for 54 yards over the past pair of games. The competition level figures to turn up a notch this week against a tough Chargers team, which could afford the veteran tight end more opportunities to get his hands on the ball. Kelce still ranks second among tight ends in receiving yards (875) and receptions (73) but is lagging slightly behind as a red zone threat this year, posting just five touchdowns.
Dec 6, 2021
Quiet in SNF win
Kelce had three receptions on eight targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 22-9 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos seemed committed to limiting the Chiefs' top two offensive options, and the strategy was effective in keeping the score close for the majority of the contest. This also resulted in a poor fantasy showing from Kelce, who produced his worst fantasy line this year in formats that award any points for receptions. The 31-year-old has responded with 50-plus yards and a touchdown in the two games following duds like Sunday's, so look for Kelce to bounce back in a favorable matchup against the Raiders next week.
Nov 22, 2021
Finds end zone in win
Kelce caught five of eight targets for 74 yards and took his only carry for a four-yard touchdown in Sunday's 19-9 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
The tight end has a respectable showing through the air but boosted his production with his second career rushing TD in the first quarter -- coincidentally, the first one also came on a four-yard run back in 2019. Kelce has already topped 800 receiving yards on the season, and he'll get a well-deserved rest over a Week 12 bye as he steams towards his sixth straight 1,000-yard campaign.
Nov 15, 2021
Breaks century mark in win
Kelce had eight receptions (10 targets) for 119 yards in Sunday's 41-14 win over Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was a key cog in Kansas City's offensive onslaught, as he helped block Raiders' top pass rusher Maxx Crosby while also gaining consistent chunks of yardage. Most of the star tight end's damage came on shorter chip and release routes before letting his YAC skills take over. Kelce has been the Chiefs' most-consistent offensive player so far this year with 62 receptions for 747 yards and five touchdowns through 10 contests. The 31-year-old will look to keep things rolling in a Week 11 matchup with the Cowboys.
Nov 7, 2021
Finds end zone
Kelce caught five passes for 68 yards and one touchdown on eight targets against Green Bay on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce wasn't exactly dominant, and the touchdown occurred near the goal line off playaction, but it was still an encouraging box score for Kelce, especially given the broader struggles of the Kansas City passing game. Patrick Mahomes only threw for 166 yards and one touchdown, so with that in mind Kelce's numbers begin to look better. Not just that, but Mahomes seemed to miss Kelce on a couple plays that might have been easy completions if Mahomes hadn't thrown it elsewhere (to no success). The Chiefs passing game has struggled for over a month now and Kelce's numbers have suffered for it, but for this game at least Kelce was just a couple beats away from posting numbers more like the pre-slump level of production his fantasy managers have come to expect. The Chiefs go to Las Vegas for a high-stakes game against the Raiders in Week 10.
Nov 1, 2021
Fumbles while underwhelming
Kelce caught four of seven targets for 27 yards and lost a fumble in Monday night's 20-17 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's performance was his worst of the season, as he was sparingly involved prior to coughing the ball up during the third quarter. The tight end rebounded with a strong gain afterward, but overall it was an outing to forget for Kelce. He'll strive to return to his usual heights in Week 9 versus the Packers.
Oct 24, 2021
Racks up 12 targets
Kelce recorded seven receptions on 12 targets for 65 yards in Sunday's 27-3 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Kelce drew double-digit targets for the fourth time in his last five games and also led the team. However, the offense was out of sync for large portions of the game, so he failed to top 100-receiving yards for the fourth consecutive contest. Kelce's longest gain of the day went for 17 yards, with his only other double-digit pickup going for 11 yards. While he hasn't put together massive performances regularly this season, Kelce has still managed at least six receptions in all but one contest on the campaign.
Oct 22, 2021
Cleared to play
Kelce (neck) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans after returning to a full practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
After logging back-to-back limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Kelce practiced in full Friday, paving the way for him to be cleared to face Tennessee. Six weeks into the 2021 season, Kelce continues to produce at a high level, having racked up 38 catches (on 53 targets) for 468 yards and four TDs in that span. Over his last two outings, the tight end has combined for 14 catches on 21 targets and has logged double-digit targets in three of his last four contests.
Oct 21, 2021
Another limited session
Kelce (neck) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was also limited Wednesday, but at this stage we'd be surprised if his status for Sunday's game against the Titans is in any danger. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether the star tight end will head into the weekend carrying a Week 7 injury designation.
Oct 20, 2021
Limited at practice Wednesday
Kelce (neck) was listed as limited at Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Per James Palmer of NFL Network, Kelce was looked at by trainers during this past Sunday's win over Washington, but then returned to action. Evidently, the tight end who logged 67 of a possible 82 snaps in Week 6, is dealing with a neck issue, but so far there's nothing to suggest that Kelce's status for this weekend's game against the Titans is in any danger.
Oct 17, 2021
Overcomes injury scare
Kelce recorded eight receptions on 11 targets for 99 yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Kelce suffered an apparent injury to his left arm in the second half and was examined on the sideline, as reported by James Palmer of NFL Network. However, he returned to the game and appeared to put the issue behind him to to record a season-high eight receptions. He also topped 75 receiving yards for the first time since Week 3, in large part due to receptions of 20, 19 and 17 yards. For the season, Kelce has only one game with fewer than five catches and 50 yards.
Oct 13, 2021
Not on injury report
Kelce (neck) isn't listed on Kansas City's Week 6 injury report.
ANALYSIS
Following Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Bills, coach Andy Reid relayed that Kelce suffered "a little bit of a stinger" during the contest, but the star tight end's name wasn't on on the team's practice/injury report Wednesday. That's a welcome development for the team, with RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire having landed on IR after suffering a Week 5 knee injury and Tyreek Hill (quad) having gone down as a 'DNP' in Kansas City's first practice in advance of Sunday's game against Washington.
Oct 3, 2021
Quiet as Hill shines
Kelce caught four of six targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 42-30 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was uncharacteristically quiet in this one, as the Chiefs featured fellow elite playmaker Tyreek Hill (11 catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns). The tight end's six targets still ranked second on the team behind Hill's 12 while nobody else had more than three. Kelce remains the cream of the crop at the tight end position and should bounce back in prime time against the Bills in Week 5.
Sep 26, 2021
Eclipses century mark again
Kelce secured seven of 11 targets for 104 yards in the Chiefs' 30-24 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was one of the few bright spots for the Chiefs offense on a turnover-marred afternoon, as he eclipsed the century mark for the second straight game. He also paced Kansas City in receptions, receiving yards and targets, and he should continue to play an outsized role in the team's air attack during a Week 4 interconference road showdown with the Eagles.
Sep 20, 2021
Goes over 100 yards while scoring
Kelce had seven receptions (eight targets) for 109 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-35 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens were keying in on Tyreek Hill (three receptions for 14 yards), so Kelce was asked to do most of the heavy lifting on underneath routes. Even his 46-yard touchdown came on a short pass that the tight end took to the house with some nifty moves for a big man. Kelce has proven that his superhero abilities are not tied to the beard he shaved this offseason, as he now has 13 receptions, 175 yards and three touchdowns through two contests. The star tight end will look to keep things rolling against the Chargers in Week 3.
Sep 12, 2021
Hauls in two Week 1 TDs
Kelce caught six of seven targets for 76 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 33-29 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Kansas City was down 22-10 heading into halftime, but Patrick Mahomes quickly got to work in the third quarter, hitting Kelce for an 11-yard score to begin the comeback and then finding the tight end again on an eight-yard strike midway through the fourth that gave his team its first and only lead of the game. Kelce and Tyreek Hill were the only two players to see more than three targets from Mahomes on the afternoon, a narrow tree that should lead to big numbers again for Kelce on the road in Week 2 against the Ravens.
Aug 20, 2021
One grab in win
Kelce secured his only target for eight yards in the Chiefs' 17-10 preseason win over the Cardinals on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Kelce had dealt with some minor back tightness earlier in camp, but he dispelled any doubts about his health by suiting up and playing in Friday's contest. The multi-time Pro Bowler will look to achieve the lofty feat of topping last year's career-best numbers of 105 receptions, 1,416 yards and 11 touchdowns while once again serving as one of Patrick Mahomes' top two targets.
Jul 31, 2021
Returns to practice
Kelce (back) is practicing Saturday, Aaron Ladd of KSHB 41 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce exited Thursday's practice with back tightness, but his return to the practice field two days later suggests the issue was minor. The star tight end is primed for another strong campaign after reaching the 1,000-yard mark in each of the past five seasons.
Jul 29, 2021
Exits with hip/back tightness
Kelce was removed from practice Thursday due to hip and back tightness, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's likely nothing to worry about this early in camp. Kelce has played 15 or 16 games in seven straight seasons, topping 850 snaps in each of the past six and 1,000 yards in each of the past five.
Feb 7, 2021
Tops century mark in blowout loss
Kelce caught 10 of 15 targets for 133 yards during Kansas City's 31-9 loss to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the Chiefs in both targets and yards Sunday, and he capped the postseason with three straight games over 100 receiving yards. Still, as the Chiefs' offensive line (sans both starting tackles) proved unable to match Tampa Bay's pass rush and protect an already-hobbled Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's ability to move the chains wasn't enough to keep the offense competitive. The normally sure handed tight end also dropped a potentially game-changing third-down pass in the first half. Still, Kelce is coming off a season in which he set the all-time tight end yardage record (1,416) while also scoring a career-high 11 touchdowns, and he's now logged three straight campaigns with over 1,200 receiving yards. He's locked in as the unquestioned top tight end for 2021 fantasy drafts, assuming there are no questions about Mahomes' health after he undergoes offseason toe surgery, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports is expected. The only question will be whether Kelce warrants a first-round selection.
Jan 24, 2021
Posts two more TDs against Bills
Kelce secured 13 of his 15 targets for 118 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 38-24 AFC Championship Game win against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Kelce evidently has Buffalo's number, as he does most every team in the NFL, with his only other multi-TD outing of the 2020-2021 season coming Week 6 against the Bills. It was a seemingly favorable matchup, with Buffalo surrendering an NFL-worst 92 receptions to opposing tight ends during the regular season. Kelce predictably cashed in. The three-time All-Pro enjoyed a ludicrous start to the playoff rematch, setting a Chiefs franchise record with his nine first-half receptions Sunday. Into Kansas City's Feb. 7 Super Bowl matchup against the Buccaneers, Kelce carries a streak of six consecutive double-digit catch performances with at least one TD catch.
Jan 17, 2021
Tops 100 yards with a TD
Kelce caught eight of 11 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Browns in the AFC divisional round.
ANALYSIS
Kelce scored from 20 yards out early in the second quarter as the Chiefs controlled the game early on, but the momentum shifted after quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a concussion in the third quarter. The tight end continued to be effective with Chad Henne under center, making catches of five and 24 yards. Even if Mahomes is unable to play against the Bills in next week's AFC Championship, Kelce should still thrive against a Buffalo defense that has struggled to defend tight ends all season.
Jan 13, 2021
Ready to host Browns
Kelce is not listed on Wednesday's injury report, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce is coming off a first-round playoff bye and also rested Week 17 against the Chargers, so he should have the benefit of fresh legs after logging a busy regular season (105-1,416-11). Top wideout Tyreek Hill, who dealt with a hamstring injury back in December, is also off the Chiefs' injury report. Patrick Mahomes will thus have his full assortment of pass catching weapons available during Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Browns and top cornerback Denzel Ward (illness), who came off the COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Jan 3, 2021
May be rested Sunday
Though Kelce is not among Kansas City's Week 17 inactives, per Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star, ESPN's Adam Teicher relays that he hasn't seen the tight end in uniform during warmups.
ANALYSIS
In addition to five players previously ruled out due to injuries, Kansas City elected to deem QB Patrick Mahomes and safety Tyrann Mathieu inactive Sunday. However, with the team having clinched the AFC's No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, Teope notes that it would be surprising if a number of key players such as Kelce, who were not listed as inactive Sunday, saw extended action in the contest. Teicher's report suggests that Kelce may be rested as a precaution, along with Mahomes. In such a scenario, added Week 17 tight end snaps would be available for Nick Keizer and Deon Yelder.
Jan 1, 2021
May rest in Week 17
Kelce is a candidate to be rested in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Chargers after dealing with some nagging injuries in recent weeks, Dave Skretta of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce isn't listed on the Chiefs' Week 17 injury report and would likely play without any restrictions in a normal scenario, but Kansas City has already locked up the AFC's No. 1 seed, and head coach Andy Reid has stated that he plans to give rest to key players, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Though Reid hasn't detailed his plans for Kelce specifically, the star tight end and wideout Tyreek Hill (hamstring) are both likely to have minimal roles if active Week 17, as the Chiefs look to preserve the health of their top two playmakers heading into the postseason. Assuming that's the case, Kelce -- who ranks second in the league with 1,416 receiving yards on the season -- will likely fall short in his bid to become the first tight end to lead the NFL in receiving yardage.
Dec 27, 2020
Sets receiving record for position
Kelce secured seven of 13 targets for 98 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 17-14 win against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kelce made NFL history Sunday, surpassing George Kittle's 2018 record for tight end receiving yards in a single season (1,377). With his Week 16 output, the six-time Pro Bowler pushes his season-long total to 1,416 yards, also leaping back ahead of Green Bay's Robert Tonyan with his 11th TD catch of the year Sunday. Kelce has amassed double-digit targets in seven of his past eight games, but there's a possibility he's held out for a Week 17 matchup against the Chargers, given that Kansas City has already locked up the AFC's No. 1 seed.
Dec 20, 2020
Finds end zone in win
Kelce caught eight of 12 targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-29 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
He took a shovel pass from Patrick Mahomes for a one-yard score early in the second quarter, giving Kelce a TD in three straight games and tying his career high with 10 on the year. He's also closing in on history, and Kelce needs only 60 more receiving yards next week against the Falcons to break George Kittle's single-season NFL record for a tight end of 1,377.
Dec 13, 2020
Continues stellar stretch
Kelce caught eight of 10 targets for 136 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-27 win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
The star tight end replicated his stat line from last week, and such performances have become the new normal for Kelce. He has caught at least eight passes in each of his last six games, topping 100 yards in five of those and finding the end zone in four. Kelce will look to keep rolling in Week 15 against the Saints.
Dec 7, 2020
Dominates in win
Kelce racked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight receptions (13 targets) in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs were uncharacteristically poor in the red zone, but Kelce was able to cash in on Patrick Mahomes' lone touchdown heave. The star tight end blew by the 1,000-yard marker for the fifth year in a row, and he is on pace to finish with double-digit touchdowns (eight through 12 games) for just the second time in his storied career. The 31-year-old continues to be one of the most-consistent fantasy assets in the game so long as Mahomes is under center, averaging numbers worthy of a WR1 with 6.8 receptions and 93.0 yards per game. Next Sunday's opponent, the Miami Dolphins, rank eighth against opposing tight ends, but the Broncos ranked ninth heading into Sunday's contest before Kelce annihilated them, confirming his matchup-proof status heading into Week 14.
Nov 29, 2020
Strong production in win
Kelce brought in all eight targets for 82 yards in the Chiefs' 27-24 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran was a distant second to Tyreek Hill in receptions, receiving yards and targets, but his numbers were nevertheless solid from a fantasy perspective. Kelce's yardage tally Sunday left him just short of the 1,000-yard mark for the campaign, a threshold that once eclipsed, will render the 31-year-old the first tight end in NFL history to accomplish the feat in five consecutive seasons. Kelce now has at least eight grabs in four straight games, a streak he'll look to extend at the expense of the Broncos in a Week 13 divisional battle.
Nov 23, 2020
Catches game-winning score
Kelce hauled in eight passes (10 targets ) for 127 yards and a touchdown Sunday. He also completed his lone pass attempt on a trick play for four yards in a 35-31 win over Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Kelce feasted between the hashes against the Raiders' safeties, consistently getting open down the field as Patrick Mahomes scrambled to buy time behind the line before connecting with his favorite target. The 31-year-old has been on an absolute tear of late, averaging 9.3 receptions and 139.7 yards with two total touchdowns over his last three contests. With George Kittle (foot) missing the majority of the season, Kelce has reclaimed his spot alone atop fantasy tight end summit. Next week's opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, boasts a pair of athletic coverage linebackers patrolling the middle of the field, but Kelce is a must-start player regardless of matchup.
Nov 8, 2020
Spectacular numbers in win
Kelce secured 10 of 12 targets for 159 yards in the Chiefs' 33-31 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce paced the team in receptions and receiving yards in a performance highlighted by a 44-yard grab, his second-longest catch of the campaign. The Panthers came into the contest with solid numbers against tight ends, but Kelce's elite athleticism, which has now helped him to three 100-yard efforts in the last five games, clearly overcame any statistical disadvantage. Now having seen 12 targets in back-to-back contests, Kelce will look to improve on Sunday's season-best effort against the vulnerable Raiders defense in a Week 10 AFC West battle.
Nov 1, 2020
Leading receiver in blowout win
Kelce caught eight of 12 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-9 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's three-yard touchdown put the Chiefs up 21-9 with 58 seconds left in the first half, and he led the Chiefs in targets, catches and receiving yards as Patrick Mahomes piled up 416 yards and five touchdowns through the air. The league's most dependable receiving option at the tight end position has 48 catches for 610 yards and six touchdowns through eight games, putting Kelce on pace to eclipse 1,200 receiving yards for a third consecutive season. He'll face the Panthers in Week 9.
Oct 25, 2020
Quiet outing against Broncos
Kelce caught all three of his targets for 31 receiving yards during Sunday's 43-16 win against Denver.
ANALYSIS
The five-time Pro Bowler was proving to be the surest tight end in fantasy through the first six weeks of 2020, as he had amassed 70 receiving yards or a touchdown in all six of his appearances entering Sunday. Kelce had three touchdowns in his preceding two games coming into the divisional tilt, but Kansas City only tallied one passing TD on 25 attempts during the drubbing of Denver. Tyreek Hill dominated the passing-game workload with 10 targets, while no other Chief exceeded four. Despite the quiet outing from Kelce, he remains a top option given both his talent and his healthy workload of eight targets per game. Kelce now heads into a Week 8 matchup against a Jets defense that surrendered 64 receiving yards to Buffalo tight end Tyler Kroft on Sunday.
Oct 19, 2020
Catches two touchdowns in win
Kelce caught five of seven targets for 65 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 26-17 win over the Bills. He also lost a fumble prior to halftime.
ANALYSIS
Kelce got Kansas City on the board with an 11-yard reception toward the end of the first quarter, then found pay dirt from 12 yards out toward the end of the second. While those plays brought Kelce's touchdown total to five through six games, the tight end committed his first turnover Monday, coughing the ball up just before halftime. That miscue will surely bother Kelce, but with at least five catches and/or 70 receiving yards in every game this season, he remains in great form ahead of Sunday's trip to play the Broncos.
Oct 11, 2020
Paces pass catchers in loss
Kelce brought in eight of 12 targets for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 40-32 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The All-Pro tight end led the Chiefs in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, and his seven-yard touchdown grab with 3:57 remaining gave Kansas City some fleeting hope. Kelce's 100-yard effort was his first of the season, and he's now logged double-digit targets on two occasions over the first five games. Kelce will look to stay hot in a Week 6 Monday evening road matchup versus the Bills.
Oct 5, 2020
Tops Chiefs in receiving
Kelce caught three of six targets for 70 yards in Monday night's 26-10 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Kelce again led Kansas City in receiving yards, with the bulk of his total coming on a 45-yard grab during the second half. That play was the Chiefs' longest of the game and helped compensate for Kelce posting a season low in catches. Nonetheless, with at least 70 yards and/or a touchdown in all four outings this season, Kelce is in fine form ahead of Week 5's game against the Raiders.
Sep 29, 2020
Leads Chiefs through air
Kelce caught six of seven targets for 87 yards in Monday night's 34-20 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the Chiefs in receiving yards while going for a season-long gain of 29 yards during Monday's contest. Although he couldn't continue his touchdown streak to start the season, instead seeing teammates Anthony Sherman and Eric Fisher vulture close-range scores through the air, Kelce still caught six passes for the third straight game and topped 85 yards for the second in a row. Up next for the highly-touted tight end is a matchup against the Patriots in Week 4.
Sep 20, 2020
Scores TD on nine receptions
Kelce caught nine of 14 targets for 90 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kelce led the team in targets and catches while finishing behind only Tyreek Hill in receiving yards. He got the Chiefs on the board with a 10-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, giving him two scores in as many games to start the season. The star tight end also has 140 yards and 15 receptions to his name already, so he should remain locked into fantasy lineups despite a seemingly difficult matchup against the Ravens next Monday night.
Sep 11, 2020
Highly efficient effort in win
Kelce brought in all six of his targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 34-20 win over the Texans on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The big tight end was particularly involved early, producing a 4-30 line and his six-yard scoring grab over Kansas City's first two drives. Despite a relatively quiet night the rest of the way, Kelce still finished second on the team in receptions and tied for second in targets, making it a solid season-opening fantasy effort. The perennial Pro Bowler will look to put together a successful encore when he and his teammates face the Chargers in a Week 2 road matchup Sunday, Sept. 20.
Sep 8, 2020
Upgrades to full practice
Kelce (knee) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as a limited participant Monday on the Chiefs' first official practice report of the 2020 season, Kelce's ability to take every rep in Tuesday's session erases any concern about his availability for Thursday's game against the Texans. Coming off four straight seasons of at least 80 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards, Kelce profiles as an easy top-two fantasy tight end this season, and his stronger track record on the health front probably makes him a safer choice than 49ers standout George Kittle.
Sep 7, 2020
Practice reps limited Monday
Kelce (knee) was limited in practice Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce has dealt with the occasional knee injury during his seven-year career, missing most of his rookie season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery, missing some preseason action in 2017, and having his practice reps limited in January during the Chiefs' Super Bowl run. On a positive note, he was able to get in some work Monday, but his status bears watching as Thursday's game against the Texans approaches.
Aug 13, 2020
Lands four-year extension
The Chiefs and Kelce agreed to terms of a four-year extension Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The exact parameters of the deal haven't been revealed, but Rapoport notes the deal is worth between $14 and $15 million per year. With Kelce locked up through the 2025 season, Patrick Mahomes has his top targets -- also, Tyreek Hill -- locked up for the next three campaigns
Aug 13, 2020
Drawing close to extension
The Chiefs and Kelce are closing in on a four-year extension to keep the tight end in Kansas City through the 2025 season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Parameters of the new contract aren't known, but the imminent agreement comes on the heels of 49ers tight end George Kittle signing a five-year, $75 million deal earlier Thursday. Notably, Kelce turns 31 in October, meaning he'll be 36 if he's able to play out the entire contract. In the end, it's worth it for the Chiefs to lock up one of its top two pass catchers -- the other being Tyreek Hill -- to give Patrick Mahomes the necessary firepower for more Super Bowl runs. Kelce himself has had at least 80 catches, 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in each of the past four seasons.
Feb 2, 2020
Finds end zone in SB LIV win
Kelce brought in all six of his targets for 43 yards and a touchdown during the Chiefs' 31-20 win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's reception tally was second only to Tyreek Hill on the night, and his one-yard touchdown grab with 6:13 remaining officially began the Chiefs' comeback from a 20-10 deficit. Kelce earned ever reception he secured against the 49ers' stingy defense, and even though he was largely held in check over the final two postseason wins, the multi-time Pro Bowler was spectacular during the regular season with a 97-1,229-5 line across 16 games. Signed through the 2021 campaign, Kelce will look to help Kansas City defend its title next season.
Jan 24, 2020
No listing on Friday's report
Kelce (knee) doesn't have a designation for the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
During the first week of prep for the big game, the Chiefs continued to cap Kelce's reps, holding him to an LP/DNP/LP practice regimen. Still, his lack of designation Friday indicates the team isn't worried about his availability. While San Francisco's defense has held tight ends to an NFL-best 5.9 yards per target this season (including playoffs), the unit has allowed the 14th-most receptions (80) and ninth-most TDs (nine) to the position. Considering Kelce's stature, he seems like a good bet to prosper in the Super Bowl.
Jan 24, 2020
Back at practice Friday
Kelce (knee) is participating in Friday's practice session, Jeff Darlington of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce was held out of Thursday's session while battling the flu bug that's gone around Kansas City's roster since mid-January. The star tight end was listed as limited Wednesday due to a knee issue, so it remains to be seen whether he still has a cap on his reps. In any case, he'll have another full week of practice to get healthy in time the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
Jan 23, 2020
Comes down with flu
Kelce (knee) will be held out of practice Thursday due to an illness, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Listed as limited Wednesday due to a lingering knee injury, Kelce now may be laid for for a handful of days as he's caught the flu bug that has hit other Chiefs over the last week-plus. Fortunately, he has a week and a half to return to full health for the Super Bowl, when he'll be facing a 49ers defense that gave up an NFL-low 5.9 yards per target to tight ends this season (including playoffs).
Jan 22, 2020
Limited by knee issue
Kelce (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kelce experienced a cap on his practice reps in advance of the Chiefs' first two postseason contests, only to suit up on game day. With two weeks to prepare for the Super Bowl, he'll have plenty of time to get as close to 100 percent as possible. In the aforementioned matchups, he totaled 13 receptions (on 16 targets) for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Jan 19, 2020
Held in check vs. Titans
Kelce caught three of four targets for 30 yards during Sunday's 35-24 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's monstrous performance last week clearly caught the attention of the Titans defense, who placed him in coverage early and often. He grabbed all but one of the looks thrown his way but did little of note outside his long gain of 18 yards. Despite this underwhelming effort, Kelce should be a focal point of the offense in the Super Bowl against either the 49ers or the Packers.

Cleared to play Sunday
Kelce (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sundays' AFC Championship Game against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Kelce's practice reps this week were limited as he managed a knee issue, but per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com the tight end declared himself "ready to roll" Friday. With that, Kelce is in line to remain a key target for QB Patrick Mahomes after going off in last weekend's 51-31 win over the Texans, hauling in 10 of his 12 targets for 134 yards and three TDs.

In line to play Sunday
Coach Andy Reid expects Kelce (knee) to suit up for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Titans, Adam Teicher of ESPN.comreports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce has been limited in practice so far this week due to a bruised knee, but there never seemed to be any doubt about his odds to play this weekend. Friday's injury report ultimately can clear the way for the tight end to do so.

Remains limited at practice
Kelce (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
We'll revisit the tight end's status Friday to see if he he's listed as questionable or minus an injury designation for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Titans. Either way, we expect Kelce (who caught 10 of 12 targets for 134 yards and three TDs in the Chiefs' divisional-round win over the Texans) to be available this weekend.

Logs limited practice
Kelce (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
James Palmer of NFL Network previously noted that Kelce was dealing with a hamstring issue, but the Chiefs only referenced the tight end's knee injury on Wednesday's practice report. In any case, we expect Kelce -- who logged an impressive 10/134/3 stat line in his team's divisional-round win over the Texans -- to be a go for Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Titans, though it's possible he may be officially listed as questionable for the contest.

In line to practice Wednesday
Kelce (hamstring/knee) is expected to practice Wednesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelce continues to contend with a bruised knee, but a hamstring injury has been added to his list of health concerns, per Palmer. In any case, it's a good enough sign that Kelce is taking the practice field in his first chance to do so, with his activity level to be confirmed on Wednesday's injury report.

Three TD catches as KC advances
Kelce hauled in 10 of 12 targets for 134 receiving yards and three touchdowns during Sunday's 51-31 AFC divisional round win against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Houston seemingly had no answers for the five-time Pro Bowl tight end, as Kelce had seven more receptions than any other Kansas City player Sunday while accounting for nearly 42 percent of his team's receiving yardage. He had a costly third-down drop on the Chiefs' opening drive of the afternoon, but responded by scoring TDs on three consecutive second-quarter drives -- hauling in short-range Patrick Mahomes passes that spanned five, five and six yards as KC accounted for 21 points over the final 8:05 of the first half. Kelce has touchdowns over two of his past three outings, heading into an AFC Championship Game matchup against a Tennessee defense that allowed the second-most tight end TDs in the NFL during the regular season.

Suits up Sunday
Kelce (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's playoff game against the Texans, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, the star tight end will tough it out after being limited in practice this past week as he managed some knee pain, but as long as he avoids any in-game setbacks, Kelce should remain a key target for QB Patrick Mahomes.

Expected to play Sunday
Kelce (knee) is expected to play in Sunday's playoff game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Additionally, Rapoport indicates that the tight end is "dealing with IT (iliotibial) band tightness that's causing a small bit of pain" in his knee, "but he'll be OK." Official confirmation of Kelce's status will arrive upon the release of the Chiefs' inactives in advance of the team's 3:05 ET kickoff, but we expect him to suit up and see his share of snaps/targets Sunday, in the absence of any in-game setbacks.

Listed as questionable
Kelce (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's playoff game against the Texans after practicing in a limited fashion this week.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, coach Andy Reid indicated that Kelce's knee injury is "more of a bruise than anything.'' Meanwhile, Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star noted "there doesn't appear to be a high level of concern" regarding Kelce's status, with Reid offering encouraging words about what the tight end was able to do at practice Friday. "He was out there practicing, did a nice job with the plays that was in," Reid said. With that, we'd expect Kelce to be active Sunday, an outcome that will be confirmed, either way, about 90 minutes prior to Sunday afternoon's 3:05 ET kickoff.
Jan 10, 2020
Limited again Friday
Kelce (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Friday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While relaying Kelce's activity level in the final session of the week, coach Andy Reid told Adam Teicher of ESPN.com that the injury is "more of a bruise than anything." Kelce also picked up the concern at Wednesday's practice, per James Palmer of NFL Network. Reid doesn't seem to be concerned about Kelce's availability for Sunday's game against the Texans, but the tight end seems destined to be listed as questionable.
Jan 9, 2020
Another limited practice
Kelce (knee) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
We'll circle back on the tight end's status Friday, but at this stage we'd expect him to be available for Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Texans. The Chiefs' final injury report of of the week will reveal whether Kelce approaches that contest listed as questionable, or minus an injury designation.
Jan 9, 2020
Not donning knee brace
Kelce wasn't wearing a knee brace at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Limited on Wednesday's injury report, Kelce at least will maintain that level of participation Thursday and may even elevate to 'full.' Assuming the latter comes to pass by the end of the week, his availability for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Texans will be confirmed, as appears to be the expectation.
Jan 9, 2020
Slated to practice Thursday
Kelce (knee) will practice Thursday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if he works fully, or is limited Thursday, but after Kelce was limited at practice Wednesday, Teicher relayed that the tight end's knee issue shouldn't keep him out of Sunday's playoff game against the Texans.
Jan 8, 2020
Limited by knee issue
Kelce (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, the tight end's Wednesday limitations were the result of a sore knee, but the issue "shouldn't keep (Kelce) out" of Sunday's playoff game against the Texans. We'll let you know if that assessment chances as the contest approaches.

Snags three passes in opener
Kelce caught three of eight targets for 88 yards during Sunday's 40-26 win over the Jaguars. Fellow target Tyreek Hill left the game early with a shoulder injury and was rushed to the hospital Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Patrick Mahomes and Kelce are usually able to convert a higher percentage of targets into receptions, but it's hard to argue with the early results as the two connected for completions of 42 and 41 yards during the game's first 19 minutes. The fact that they came against heralded defensive playmakers A.J. Bouye and Myles Jack illustrate how much of a mismatch Kelce is no matter which position or player is covering him. Though fantasy sports certainly take a backset to what was apparently a significant injury to Tyreek Hill, any absence Hill may have would have obvious implications for Kelce and likely lead to increased targets.
