Tyler Allgeier Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Falcons vs Saints game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 16, 2025
Reaches endzone again
Allgeier logged three carries for 10 yards and a touchdown and added two catches on as many targets for six yards during the Falcons' 30-27 overtime loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier logged 11 carries during the Falcons' Week 10 OT loss to the Cardinals, but he was far less involved in the running game during Sunday's loss. Bijan Robinson led the way for the Falcons with 143 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 27 touches, but Allgeier punched in a one-yard touchdown run of his own late in the second quarter to salvage his fantasy production. Allgeier is now up to seven rushing touchdowns through 10 regular-season games, which is as many as he accumulated across the 2023 and 2024 regular seasons. Next up for the Falcons is a Week 12 road clash against the Saints on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Nov 9, 2025
Finds end zone twice in OT loss
Allgeier carried the ball 11 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-25 overtime loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The backup RB scored one-yard TDs in the first and fourth quarters as he continues to take red-zone work away from Bijan Robinson. Robinson led the Falcons with 84 rushing yards on the day but didn't get into the end zone, and he has only two rushing touchdowns in nine games compared to Allgeier's six. It was also Allgeier's first multi-TD performance since Week 1 of the 2023 season. as long as he continues to see heavy usage in the red zone and at the goal line, Allgeier will have some fantasy utility even though Sunday was only the third time this season he's topped 50 rushing yards in a game.
Nov 3, 2025
Minor role in loss
Allgeier rushed twice for six yards during Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons trailed for most of Sunday's loss, which led to only 14 rushing attempts compared to 37 passes for Michael Penix. A pass-heavy game script means a muted role for Allgeier, who saw double-digit touches in four of Atlanta's first five games. However, over the past three games, the backup running back has totaled only 10 rushing attempts.
Oct 31, 2025
Good to go
Allgeier (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at New England, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played through the same injury last week and ended up handling a season-high 40 percent snap share in the 34-10 loss to Miami. He'll likely play much less this week, unless the Falcons end up in a blowout again
Oct 30, 2025
Limited by knee Thursday
Allgeier (knee) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier took a questionable tag into Atlanta's Week 8 loss to the Dolphins due to hip and knee injuries but wound up playing a season-high 40 percent snap share and scoring the Falcons' lone touchdown. He's back on the injury report Thursday after avoiding Wednesday's injury report. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Allgeier has an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Oct 29, 2025
Scores TD in loss
Allgeier rushed four times for four yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played 40 percent of the Falcons' offensive snaps Sunday, his highest snap share of the season. The fourth-year running back's touchdown came late in the fourth quarter and was the only trip to the end zone in the contest. In what turned out to be a surprising blowout against the Dolphins, the Falcons' offense was unable to get much going against a vulnerable Miami defense. Operating as the clear backup to Bijan Robinson, Allgeier remains one of the top insurance policies in fantasy in the event that Robinson were to miss time due to injury. With that said, the 25-year-old backup does hold a bit of standalone value due to having a nose for the end zone in 2025. Allgeier has recorded four touchdowns so far this season, already matching a career high set in 2023 across 17 games. Next up for the Falcons is a Week 9 matchup against the Patriots.
Oct 26, 2025
Suiting up in Week 8
Allgeier (hip/knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Dolphins, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After a week in which he was limited in all three practices due to hip and knee injuries and listed as questionable, Allgeier will be available to a Falcons offense Week 8 that will be led by QB Kirk Cousins, who is getting a spot start for the injured Michael Penix (knee). Allgeier has averaged just 3.6 YPC on his 57 rushes in six contests this season, but he could take advantage of the touches that don't go to top RB Bijan Robinson against a Miami defense that has allowed the fourth-most YPC (5.2) to opposing running backs in 2025.
Oct 24, 2025
Deemed questionable for Week 8
Allgeier (hip/knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was limited in all three of Atlanta's practices during Week 8 prep. If Allgeier's unable to suit up Sunday against a Dolphins defense that has allowed the most rushing yards in the league to running backs, Nathan Carter would assume the top backup role behind Bijan Robinson.
Oct 23, 2025
Remains limited Thursday
Allgeier (hip/knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier maintained his activity level from Wednesday's walkthrough, giving him just one more opportunity to get back to full participation during Week 8 prep. Even if he's able to suit up Sunday versus the Dolphins, though, his workload remains to be seen because he's handled double-digit touches in four of six appearances this season but combined for six touches in the other two contests.
Oct 22, 2025
Tending to pair of injuries
Allgeier was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate due to hip and knee injuries, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier has earned double-digit touches in four of six contests this season, but he's coming off the Falcons' Week 7 loss at San Francisco in which he took just four carries for 16 yards and wasn't targeted while starter Bijan Robinson notched 92 yards from scrimmage and a receiving TD on 20 touches. With a pair of inujries now in tow, Allgeier will have two more chances to prove his health this week ahead of Sunday's contest against the Dolphins.
Oct 21, 2025
Non-factor in loss
Allgeier rushed four times for 16 yards during Sunday's 20-10 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was a non-factor Sunday and got banged up in the fourth quarter. He returned a few plays later but didn't see any more touches. In the Falcons' three wins, Allgeier has rushed 42 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns. In their losses, the backup RB has totaled only 44 rushing yards on 15 attempts. When Atlanta gets behind, the game script limits Allgeier's fantasy value.
Oct 13, 2025
Scores early TD Monday
Allgeier carried the ball 10 times for 32 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for six yards in Monday's 24-14 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier got involved in the box score early with a 21-yard touchdown scamper on Atlanta's opening possession. The talented backup then took a back seat to starter Bijan Robinson, who ripped apart Buffalo's defense to the tune of 238 yards and a score of his own. Allgeier has generated some flex appeal after hitting pay dirt thrice over his last four appearances. There is a four-yard dud nestled in between, so fantasy managers should also be aware of Allgeier's drastic floor ahead of Sunday's tilt against San Francisco.
Sep 28, 2025
Hits paydirt against Washington
Allgeier carried the ball 16 times for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-27 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Bijan Robinson had a massive day with 21 touches, a career-high 181 scrimmage yards and a rushing TD of his own, but Allgeier still made an impact with a 15-yard score late in the third quarter. It was the fourth-year RB's second touchdown of the season, and despite his backup role he's been able to carve out some fantasy value behind Robinson, turning 41 carries through four weeks into 155 rushing yards. The Falcons will be on bye in Week 5, but Allgeier's volume in Week 6 could depend on whether the team can keep things close against the Bills.
Sep 22, 2025
Muted role in blowout loss
Allgeier rushed once for four yards and caught one of two targets for zero yards during Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
After 26 rushing attempts through the first two weeks, Allgeier's muted role was a product of Sunday's game script, as the Falcons got in an early hole and tried to pass their way out of it. Allgeier is still the top backup behind Bijan Robinson, despite undrafted rookie Nathan Carter getting more touches against Carolina. All of Carter's attempts came on Atlanta's final drive, and he fumbled on his last carry.
Sep 15, 2025
Punches in late TD
Allgeier recorded 16 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-6 win over the Vikings. He added one reception on one target for four yards.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons led for the entire game but truly took control in the second half. As a result, 12 of Allgeier's carries came in the final two quarters, and he took advantage by tallying gains of 17 and 13 yards as well as finding the end zone five yards away in the final five minutes of game time. Allgeier will likely need this type of game script to be fantasy relevant, though that could occur again in Week 3 against Carolina.
Sep 7, 2025
Held in check Sunday
Allgeier rushed 10 times for 24 yards in the Falcons' 23-20 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The No. 2 back finished with just two fewer carries than star backfield mate Bijan Robinson, who was similarly stymied on the ground. However, Robinson also logged seven targets and finished with 100 receiving yards, while Allgeier did not see the ball come his way through the air. Robinson is expected to see an even bigger role in his third season, but Allgeier should still have at least an outside chance at double-digit carries in most games.
Aug 12, 2025
Idle for preseason opener
Allgeier didn't play in Atlanta's 17-10 preseason loss to the Lions on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier is projected to operate as the primary backup behind Bijan Robinson for a second straight season. After a breakout rookie campaign, Allgeier's production as a reserve has been modest. He posted 4.7 yards per carry on a career-low 137 rushing attempts last season.
Jan 5, 2025
Closes season with 69 total yards
Allgeier rushed nine times for 52 yards and brought in both targets for 17 yards in the Falcons' 44-38 overtime loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier worked in his usual complementary role behind Bijan Robinson, who rushed for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns in the close loss. Allgeier's involvement on the ground represented a nice boost from the three carries he'd tallied in Week 17 against the Commanders, and his rushing yardage total was his second highest over the last six games. Allgeier projects to head into 2025, a contract year, in the same role he filled the last two seasons.
Jan 1, 2025
Handles three carries in loss
Allgeier rushed three times for 19 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played just 12 percent of the Falcons' offensive snaps Sunday, his second-lowest snap share of the season. The third-year running back was minimally used against Washington while starter Bijan Robinson handled 20 total touches in the contest. Allgeier can be ignored for fantasy purposes as the Falcons visit the Panthers in Week 18.
Dec 22, 2024
Twelve touches in Sunday's win
Allgeier carried the ball 11 times for 22 yards and caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 34-7 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
With rookie Michael Penix making his first NFL start, the Falcons leaned heavily on their running game, but Allgeier failed to do much with his volume while watching Bijan Robinson turn 24 touches into 103 scrimmage yards and two rushing TDs. Allgeieir has carried the ball 40 times over the last four games, managing 144 yards and a touchdown, and Atlanta will likely try to feature a run-heavy approach again in Week 17 against the Commanders.
Dec 17, 2024
Double-digit carries in win
Allgeier rushed 12 times for 43 yards in the Falcons' 15-9 win over the Raiders on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier logged his highest carry total since Week 8 in the run-centric win, pushing his rushing yardage tally over the last two games to 106 across 21 attempts. Allgeier was left out of the passing game altogether for the second straight contest, and he remains in a strict complementary role to Bijan Robinson, who's now received at least 22 carries in three straight contests, heading into a Week 16 home matchup against the Giants.
Dec 9, 2024
Scores in blowout loss
Allgeier rushed nine times for 63 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
This was by far Allgeier's best performance since Week 6, when he rushed 18 times for 105 yards and a score - all season-high marks. This was the fifth time in 13 games that Allgeier finished with at least 7.0 yards per carry, and he's now at 5.0 for the season, which would top his career-best 4.9 mark he set as a rookie. Despite the strong outing, Allgeier has garnered double-digit rushing attempts only three times this season and remains a sporadic producer while operating as Bijan Robinson's backup.
Dec 3, 2024
Modest production in loss
Allgeier rushed eight times for 16 yards and caught his only target for six yards during Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier couldn't find any room to operate, and the Falcons' offense as a whole struggled to move the ball consistently. The third-year running back has totaled 50 scrimmage yards in four games this season, but his production has been sporadic as a backup. Allgeier remains a valuable insurance piece for those rostering Bijan Robinson, but the former doesn't have much standalone value.
Nov 19, 2024
Minuscule outing in blowout loss
Allgeier didn't record a rushing attempt and caught his only target for minus-one yard during Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier's lone touch came on the Falcons' first drive, and he recorded only four offensive snaps the entire game. Bijan Robinson dominated the playing time early on, and Atlanta shifted to a pass-happy script after falling behind by double-digits. Rookie Jase McClellan handled all of the garbage-time work. Allgeier remains a solid insurance piece for Robinson, but the former's production as a backup has been sporadic.
Nov 14, 2024
Logs full practice Thursday
Allgeier (quadriceps) practiced in full Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier has earned double-digit touches in three of the last five contests, averaging 10.8 touches for 52.6 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring two rushing TDs. He kicked off Week 11 prep as limited due to a quad injury Wednesday, but his ability to get back to all activity one day later sets him up for a similar workload Sunday in Denver.
Nov 13, 2024
Listed with quad injury
Allgeier was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier handled his normal workload in a 20-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday, taking 11 carries for 59 yards. He apparently picked up a quad injury along the way, but his practice participation Wednesday suggests it's nothing serious. Allgeier likely will be ready to work in behind Bijan Robinson this Sunday at Denver.
Nov 11, 2024
Double-digit touches in Week 10
Allgeier rushed 11 times for 59 yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier garnered double-digit rushing attempts for just the third time in 2024. Despite being stymied at the one-yard line on three consecutive plays in the second quarter - Bijan Robinson eventually scored on fourth down - Allgeier was actually efficient with his increased workload, recording at least 5.0 yards per carry for the sixth game this season. In five games with at least eight carries, Allgeier has rushed for 310 yards, but he's totaled only 119 rushing yards in his other five appearances.
Nov 5, 2024
Scores second TD of 2024
Allgeier rushed six times for 18 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-21 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
After seeing double-digit rushing attempts for just the second time this season in Week 8, Allgeier had one of his smallest workloads of the campaign versus Dallas. His 13 offensive snaps and 18 rushing yards tied for his second fewest in a game this season while his six rushing attempts tied for his third fewest through nine appearances. He somewhat salvaged his production with a fourth-quarter touchdown that put Atlanta up two scores. Allgeier has had standalone value at times this season, but he's best utilized as an insurance policy for Bijan Robinson.
Oct 29, 2024
Modest production in win
Allgeier rushed 12 times for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played 22 of the Falcons' 62 offensive snaps Sunday, well behind starter Bijan Robinson, who was on the field for 42 snaps. Despite the lopsided playing time in favor of Robinson, the 24-year-old Allgeier earned a near-even split in carries with Robinson, handling 12 carries to Robinson's 13 attempts on the ground. Allgeier was not involved in the passing game, while Robinson saw seven targets against the Buccaneers. Going forward, the former will continue to operate as the backup and hold minimal standalone value, though he would get a major boost if Robinson were to miss time down the stretch. The Falcons are set to host the Cowboys in Week 9.
Oct 22, 2024
Reverts to minor role in Week 7
Allgeier rushed five times for 36 yards and caught his lone target for nine yards during Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
After a season-best performance (18 rushes for 105 yards and a TD) last week against Carolina, Allgeier reverted to his usual reserve role. He played only 16 offensive snaps in the blowout loss, his fewest since Week 3, and Allgeier's six touches was his lowest mark since Week 1. Allgeier's performance against the Panthers looks like an outlier, but the backup running back still has fantasy value as an insurance policy for Bijan Robinson.
Oct 13, 2024
Rushes for 18-105-1 vs. CAR
Allgeier rushed 18 times for 105 yards and a touchdown while catching his lone target for three yards in Sunday's 38-20 win over Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier finished as the Falcons' leading rusher in a game where the backfield rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Starter Bijan Robinson (15-95-2) produced the better fantasy score after hitting pay dirt twice in the first half of Sunday's win. The 24-year-old Allgeier still put up noteworthy numbers considering he had yet to hit double-digit carries in any of Atlanta's previous five games this season. Allgeier's big performance should give him FLEX appeal against a porous Seattle rush defense in Week 6.
Oct 7, 2024
Minor roles continues
Allgeier rushed six times for 12 yards and caught all three of his targets for 13 yards during Thursday's 36-30 overtime win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier continues to see limited offensive snaps, and Thursday was his least efficient night thus far. He's still averaging 5.4 yards per carry, a significant improvement over his 3.7 mark from last season. Allgeier has yet to see more than 10 touches in a game this season but remains an insurance policy for managers rostering Bijan Robinson.
Sep 29, 2024
Leading rusher in Week 4 win
Allgeier carried the ball eight times for 60 yards and caught both his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Despite the modest volume, Allgeier actually led the Falcons' backfield in both carries and rushing yards, topping Bijan Robinson's lackluster seven totes for 28 yards. Allgeier still hasn't seen more than 10 touches in a game this season, and despite the relatively even division of the workload Sunday, he isn't going to suddenly challenge Robinson for the top spot on the depth chart. However, both backs could be productive in Week 5 against a Buccaneers defense that has struggled against the run so far in 2024.
Sep 23, 2024
Limited work again
Allgeier rushed seven times for 32 yards during Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was on the field for only 13 offensive snaps. He's played around 20 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps through three weeks, but when he's out there, the backup RB is heavily involved, recording 19 touches on 35 snaps. Allgeier boasts a solid 5.6 yards per carry thus far, showing signs of his rookie campaign in 2022 when he rushed for 1,035 yards and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. Last year, Allgeier averaged only 3.7 yards per carry. Regardless, Bijan Robinson remains the star of the Falcons' backfield, leaving Allgeier as merely an insurance policy in fantasy.
Sep 19, 2024
Logs full practice Thursday
Allgeier (hip) practiced in full Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier operated with a cap on his reps at Wednesday's session, but his return to all activity one day later paves the way for him to continue serving as Atlanta's No. 2 RB behind Bijan Robinson. Through two games, Allgeier has 13 touches to Robinson's 41, and so far the former is averaging 6.2 yards per carry on the campaign.
Sep 18, 2024
Tending to hip issue
Allgeier was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a hip injury, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After a quiet three carries Week 1, Allgeier was a bit more involved behind starting running back Bijan Robinson on Monday at Philadelphia, turning 10 touches into 65 yards from scrimmage. Robinson so far is averaging 20.5 touches per game through two contests, but it appears there's still room for Allgeier to get in the Falcons' backfield mix. Still, Allgeier is working through a health concern this week, making his status worthwhile to watch to get a sense of his availability ahead of a matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
Sep 17, 2024
Move involved in Week 2
Allgeier rushed nine times for 53 yards and caught his lone target for 12 yards during Monday's 22-21 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
After three touches in nine offensive snaps during Week 1, Allgeier touched the ball on 10 of his 13 offensive snaps during Monday Night Football. However, starting RB Bijan Robinson was the star of the Falcons' offense all night, totaling 19 touches for 101 yards. Allgeier's snap count through two games suggests he's nothing more than a handcuff, but his 6.2 yards per carry tells a different story. While that's likely unsustainable, Allgeier's efficient night might earn him more opportunities moving forward.
Sep 9, 2024
Minor role in Week 1 loss
Allgeier rushed three times for 21 yards during Sunday's 18-10 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played only 10 offensive snaps while starting running back Bijan Robinson saw 50. Allgeier remains a strong handcuff, but despite optimistic reports about Allgeier's role this offseason, the latter's Week 1 usage suggests that's all the fantasy value he'll have this season under new OC Zac Robinson. Allgeier averaged 12 touches per outing in 2023 despite a season-low six in Week 17, but he had a 75-yard receiving TD in that game. Barring an injury to Bijan, Allgeier will have a tough time replicating that production in 2024.
Jul 30, 2024
Ticketed for big role again
Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said Tuesday that Allgeier "certainly is going to have a big role" again, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's not what Bijan Robinson drafters want to hear, following a rookie season in which the eighth overall pick got only 28 more carries (214 vs. 186) than his backfield mate. Allgeier wasn't as efficient as he had been during his own rookie season the year prior -- dropping from 4.9 yards per carry in 2022 to 3.7 YPC in 2023 -- but it sounds like the new coaching staff in Atlanta nonetheless views him as part of their plan on offense. While the workload figures to shift more in Robinson's favor this year, it might not be quite to the extent people are hoping for when they use a first-round fantasy pick on the 22-year-old.

Jan 17, 2024
Plays backup role in 2023
Allgeier finished the 2023 campaign with 186 rushing attempts for 683 yards and four touchdowns in 17 appearances. He also caught 18 of 23 targets for 193 receiving yards and an additional score.
ANALYSIS
After totaling 226 touches for 1,174 yards in 16 games as a rookie, Allgeier recorded 204 touches for 876 yards across 17 appearances in Year 2. Allgeier's drop in production was expected after the addition of 2023 first-round pick Bijan Robinson, but it wasn't necessarily due to a reduced role on offense. The 2022 fifth-round pick simply struggled to replicate the 4.9 yards per carry he generated last season and posted a modest 3.7 mark this year. It's unclear if Cordarrelle Patterson will return next season, as he's entering a void year, but Robinson and Allgeier should be back at the top of Atlanta's running back depth chart in 2024, barring a major splash in free agency. However, it's also worth noting that Arthur Smith has been fired, so the Falcons' run-heavy offense may be overhauled depending on who gets hired.
Dec 31, 2023
Scores long touchdown in Week 17
Allgeier took five carries for 13 yards and caught his only target for a 75-yard touchdown during Sunday's 37-17 loss in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier handled his fewest rushes in a game this season and fell below 3.0 yards per carry for the first time since Week 7, but he offset it by turning a screen pass from quarterback Taylor Heinicke into the longest play from scrimmage of his two-year career. The score also marked Allgeier's third in the last five contests to push him to a new career best of five TDs. Next up for Allgeier is the Saints' 21st-ranked run defense (122.5 yards per game) in Week 18.
Dec 24, 2023
Efficient afternoon in win
Allgeier rushed nine times for 69 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for a 19-yard reception in the Falcons' 29-10 win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was only three carries behind Bijan Robinson, who had an efficient day himself, and he was the only one of the two to get into the end zone, doing so via a nifty 31-yard run up the right sideline early in the third quarter. Allgeier continues to get his fair share of opportunities most weeks at Robinson's expense, capping the full fantasy value of both to an extent heading into a Week 17 road matchup against a tough Bears run defense.
Dec 17, 2023
Leads ground attack in loss
Allgeier rushed 14 times for 45 yards and brought in his only target for six yards in the Falcons' 9-7 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier doubled up rookie backfield mate Bijan Robinson in carries on the afternoon with a tally that was also Allgeier's highest since Week 7. The 2022 fifth-round pick continues to enjoy a solid role even on weeks when Robinson is much more involved -- Allgeier hasn't seen fewer than eight carries since Week 4 -- but the division of labor in Atlanta's backfield remains difficult to trust heading into a Week 16 home matchup against the Colts.
Dec 11, 2023
Team-high rushing tally Sunday
Allgeier rushed nine times for 40 yards and wasn't targeted in the Falcons' 29-25 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier's yardage total paced the Falcons' ground attack on a day when the Buccaneers' run defense mostly clamped down on him and backfield mate Bijan Robinson. Allgeier also went without a target for the third straight game, his longest such stretch this season. Allgeier was encouragingly only one rush attempt behind Robinson's tally, but the timeshare scenario on Atlanta' backfield lowers the former's fantasy ceiling more because of his lack of a consistent pass-catching role.
Dec 3, 2023
Minimal impact in win
Allgeier rushed eight times for 26 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 13-8 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson (five carries for 11 yards) both rotated in to spell Bijan Robinson, who turned 18 carries and five targets into 79 scrimmage yards. With Robinson healthy, Allgeier has totaled between eight and 12 carries in each of the last five games. Allgeier's role is unlikely to change in Week 14 against the Buccaneers.
Nov 26, 2023
Strong showing in No. 2 role
Allgeier rushed 10 times for 64 yards and wasn't targeted during the Falcons' 24-15 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played a clear second fiddle to Bijan Robinson, who finished with 16 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown while also contributing a 3-32-1 line through the air. However, Allgeier's numbers were excellent considering his complementary role, and his yardage tally served as his highest since Week 1. Allgeier next faces what has occasionally been a vulnerable Jets rush defense in a Week 13 road matchup.

Does little with touches Sunday
Allgeier carried the ball nine times for 31 yards and caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 25-23 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The second-year running back saw double-digit touches for the fifth time in the last six games, but he once again failed to do much with his opportunities as he came in below 40 scrimmage yards for the third straight game. Bijan Robinson's 4.9 yards per carry is far superior to Allgeier's 3.2 mark, but the two have somehow gotten the exact same number of carries so far this year at 125. Even if that workload split continues following the Falcons' Week 11 bye, Allgeier will likely be little more than a TD-dependent dart throw for the remainder of the season.
Nov 5, 2023
Regains role in backfield
Allgeier rushed the ball 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Vikings. He added two catches for negative nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier saw 14 touches as compared to 13 for Bijan Robinson. That was dictated in part by a Robinson fumble that pushed him to the bench for two possessions, but the split in workload would have been close regardless. Allgeier was significantly less efficient on the ground, but he ended up with a five-yard touchdown rush late in the fourth that appeared to clinch the win for Atlanta. Though his workload fluctuates from week to week, he maintains a significant role in the offense.
Oct 30, 2023
Modest role in loss
Allgeier rushed eight times for 31 yards during Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
With Bijan Robinson (illness) back to full strength, Allgeier saw his fewest rushing attempts since Week 4 and wasn't targeted in the passing attack. It was just the third time the BYU product has garnered single-digit touches this year, but he remains a low-end RB3 who likely needs to find the end zone to deliver quality fantasy production.
Oct 22, 2023
Heavy workload with Robinson unwell
Allgeier rushed 21 times for 59 yards and caught all three of his targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Bijan Robinson (illness) got just one touch, as the standout rookie didn't feel well, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. With Robinson out of the game plan, Allgeier tied his career high with 24 touches. A 46-yard catch bolstered Allgeier's stat line, but the second-year running back averaged just 2.9 yards on his other 23 touches, while Cordarrelle Patterson rushed for 56 yards on just 10 carries. If Robinson returns to his usual lead role in Week 8 against the Titans, Allgeier will likely see a decline in volume.
Oct 15, 2023
Handles 13 carries in loss
Allgeier rushed 13 times for 51 yards and failed to haul in his only target during Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier tied Bijan Robinson in rushing attempts and was slightly more efficient than the rookie, but the latter still outproduced the former when factoring in the passing game. Allgeier has seen double-digit rushing attempts in four of six games thus far, but he's averaging a measly 3.1 yards per attempt after posting a 4.9 YPC as a rookie last year. Currently, Allgeier is a low-end RB3 who likely needs to find the end zone to deliver quality fantasy production.
Oct 8, 2023
Team-high carry total in win
Allgeier rushed 17 times for 40 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Falcons' 21-19 win over the Texans on Sunday. He also recorded a two-point conversion catch.
ANALYSIS
After back-to-back seven-carry tallies, Allgeier's workload shot up Sunday, with the second-year back even outpacing star backfield mate Bijan Robinson by three totes. Allgeier couldn't get much accomplished with the opportunity as his final line implies, but Robinson was also stymied to the tune of 3.3 yards per carry. While Robinson is clearly the lead option in the ground attack, Allgeier should continue to see his fair share of opportunities most weeks in head coach Arthur Smith's run-centric attack.
Oct 1, 2023
Role continues to dwindle
Allgeier carried the ball seven times for 16 yards and caught one of two targets for minus-4 yards in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
For the second straight week, Allgeier's touches were in single digits as rookie Bijan Robinson takes firm control of the Atlanta backfield. Allgeier's done little to win back a bigger workload -- since he scored two TDs in the Falcons' opener, he's averaged just 2.5 yards per carry (76 yards on 30 totes.) However, the second-year back could do some damage even on reduced volume in Week 5 against the vulnerable Texans' run defense.
Sep 24, 2023
Back-to-back duds
Allgeier rushed seven times for 12 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 20-6 loss versus Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier stood out in Week 1 with two touchdowns, but he's submitted mediocre production in back-to-back games since then. In Week 2, he saw 16 rushing attempts, so there was still optimism about his fantasy outlook even though he didn't find the end zone. However, he saw his rushing attempts cut in half versus Detroit, as the Falcons surprisingly leaned on the pass. It's encouraging that Allgeier was still involved in the offense even though Atlanta abandoned the run, but it appears he may be a touchdown-dependent fantasy option moving forward.
Sep 17, 2023
Modest production in Week 2
Allgeier rushed 16 times for 48 yards during Sunday's 25-24 win over the Packers
ANALYSIS
Allgeier saw three fewer rushing attempts than Bijan Robinson, who shined with 172 scrimmage yards on 23 touches. After a stellar season opener, the red flags in Allgeier's fantasy profile were on display against the Packers. The BYU product wasn't efficient. Last week, he averaged 5.0 yards per carry versus Carolina, but he was at just 3.0 versus Green Bay. He also wasn't involved in the passing attack after three targets in Week 1. Allgeier will presumably continue to carve out a role in Atlanta's run-heavy offense, but he's not a strong fantasy option unless he's handling most of the red-zone work.
Sep 10, 2023
Scores twice in Week 1
Allgeier rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Panthers. He also caught all three of his targets for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier finished with more rushing attempts and rushing yards than Bijan Robinson, and the two running backs accounted for all three of the Falcons' touchdowns. Overall, Allgeier recorded 18 touches for 94 yards, while Robinson finished with 16 touches for 83 yards. Robinson is certainly the more dynamic back, but Allgeier consistently gets the job done and figures to have a solid role in Atlanta's run-heavy attack moving forward. It's also extremely encouraging to see Allgeier involved in the passing game, as he caught three or more passes just three times across 16 appearances last year.
Aug 18, 2023
One carry in preseason debut
Allgeier carried the ball once for -1 yards in Friday's 13-13 tie against the Bengals in preseason action.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was the first back on the field and carried the ball for seven yards on the opening play from scrimmage, though the gain was ultimately washed out due to a holding penalty. He touched the ball only one additional time, which resulted in a loss. Bijan Robinson led the backfield Friday and will do the same when the Falcons kick off the regular season against the Panthers.
Apr 28, 2023
Looking at reduced role
Allgeier will be joined by No. 8 overall draft pick Bijan Robinson in the Atlanta backfield, The Athletic's Josh Kendall reports.
ANALYSIS
A fifth-rounder last spring, Allgeier set the team rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards but will have a hard time matching that number while competing for carries with one of the best RB prospects of the past decade. Robinson's combine weight (215) was just five pounds shy of Allgeier's listed weight, and the rookie ran a much faster 40-yard dash (4.46 compared to 4.60) than his new backfield mate. The two players had similar production their final two collegiate seasons, but Robinson did it at a younger age against tougher competition and with far more receiving production to boot. Allgeier may thus be reduced to a backup role as soon as Week 1, and at best he'll be splitting work in a backfield where 32-year-old Cordarrelle Patterson is also under contract and could get some touches. Even in Arthur Smith's run-heavy offense, Allgeier probably won't get enough work to be a fantasy starter if Robinson stays healthy.

Tops 100 rushing yards in win
Allgeier rushed 24 times for 135 yards during Sunday's 30-17 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier dominated the backfield work in Week 18, as Cordarrelle Patterson saw just five rushing attempts and three targets. The rookie took advantage and notched his second game of the season with at least 100 rushing yards. In the process, Allgeier eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in his first NFL campaign and will finish with 1,035 rushing yards and three touchdowns to go along with 16 receptions on 17 targets for 139 yards and an additional receiving touchdown. Atlanta may add more running back depth in the offseason, but as of now, Allgeier appears to have proven himself worthy of a solid role next year.
Jan 1, 2023
Rushing score against Arizona
Allgeier rushed the ball 20 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-19 win over Arizona. He added one reception for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier continued his late-season breakout, and he saw a career-high 20 carries in Atlanta's Week 17 win. Though he failed to crack 100 yards, he still managed long gains of 17 and 14 yards while also plunging into the end zone from five yards away early in the second quarter. Since emerging out of a committee to serve as Atlanta's top back in Week 15, Allgeier has combined to rack up 348 total yards and two touchdowns across three games.
Dec 24, 2022
Strong showing against Ravens
Allgeier carried the ball 18 times for 74 yards and caught four of five targets for 43 yards in Saturday's 17-9 loss to Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
The rookie has now topped 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games, and with Atlanta now eliminated from playoff contention, it's likely Allgeier will remain the top option in the Falcons backfield for their final two games ahead of 31-year-old Cordarrelle Patterson, who may not factor into the team's future plans. Heading into a Week 17 clash with the Cardinals, Allgeier has 817 rushing yards through 14 contests, giving him a shot at a 1,000-yard campaign with two games remaining.
Dec 18, 2022
Career-best game in loss
Allgeier rushed 17 times for 139 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for minus-3 yards in the Falcons' 21-18 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie running back put together a career-best performance in the close loss, one that was highlighted by a game-long 43-yard scamper. Allgeier also recorded only his second career rushing touchdown on a five-yard run to cap off the first drive of the second half. Allgeier notably outpaced backfield mate Cordarrelle Patterson by three carries, and it remains to be seen if Sunday's performance continues to afford Allgeier the bigger share of the workload in a Week 16 road matchup against the Ravens.
Dec 4, 2022
Garners 10 rushing attempts in loss
Allgeier rushed 10 times for 52 yards during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier saw one fewer rushing attempt and recorded eight fewer yards than Cordarrelle Patterson, who ended with 11 carries for 60 yards. The rookie first-round pick ripped off 20 yards on his first touch in the second quarter but was bottled up for the remainder of the game. As long as he continues to split work with Patterson, Allgeier's overall value will be limited, but his consistent work should keep him on fantasy radars, especially in deeper leagues.
Nov 27, 2022
Records 54 yards
Allgeier rushed the ball 11 times for 54 yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier matched Cordarrelle Patterson for the team lead in carries, and he was fairly efficient with his opportunity. His day was highlighted by gains of 15 and 11 yards, which helped him top 50 rushing yards for the second consecutive game. Though Allgeier has a consistent role in Atlanta's offense, he isn't likely to see a spike in usage barring the absence of Patterson.
Nov 20, 2022
Solid efficiency in win
Allgeier rushed eight times for 55 yards and secured his only target for nine yards during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier only saw nine touches but was efficient in his limited work. Cordarrelle Patterson only had two more rushing attempts than the rookie, but Marcus Mariota dominated the ground work, rushing 13 times for 25 yards and a score. As expected, Allgeier's role has diminished with Patterson's return, but he remains heavily involved in the offense and should continue to be on fantasy radars.
Nov 11, 2022
Paces backfield in loss
Allgeier rushed eight times for 20 yards and netted minus-17 receiving yards while bringing in all three of his targets during the Falcons' 25-15 loss to the Panthers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The rookie led the Falcons backfield in carries on the night, but he was nowhere near as efficient as he'd been in a Week 9 loss to the Chargers (10-99). Allgeier's negative receiving yardage ultimately made a lackluster fantasy night even more forgettable, and the fact head coach Arthur Smith spread the workload on the ground among four backs overall Thursday night muddles the fantasy picture for Atlanta's backfield even further.
Nov 6, 2022
Most productive back in loss
Allgeier rushed 10 times for 99 yards and brought in his only target for 24 yards in the Falcons' 20-17 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite Cordarrelle Patterson returning from his four-game stint on IR due to a knee injury, it was Allgeier who easily paced the Falcons in rushing yards on the afternoon. The rookie did log three fewer carries than his veteran backfield mate, but Allgeier's explosiveness was evident on his game-long 44-yard run and 24-yard reception. It will be interesting to see if Patterson is afforded even more work at Allgeier's expense in Week 10 with a short week ahead of that divisional road matchup against the Panthers.
Oct 30, 2022
Does damage in passing attack
Allgeier rushed 14 times for 39 yards while securing all three of his targets for 46 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 37-34 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was inefficient on the ground and took a backseat to Caleb Huntley, who finished with 16 rushes for 91 yards -- both team highs. However, the rookie fifth-round pick salvaged his fantasy production by doing damage through the air. Allgeier's three receptions marked his first career game with multiple catches, and his 25-yard receiving touchdown was his second career score. Allgeier could see a reduced role when Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) returns from IR, which could be as soon as Week 9, but Allgeier figures to still be involved in Arthur Smith's run-first offense as long as he continues to churn out yards.
Oct 23, 2022
Tallies first career touchdown
Allgeier carried the ball 16 times for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-17 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
After splitting work with Caleb Huntley in Week 6, Allgeier took hold of the lead back role against the Bengals by accounting for 16 of the team's 23 carries by running backs. He failed to tally a gain of at least 10 yards, though he did manage a pair of nine and eight-yard rushes, respectively. However, the highlight of his day came on a one-yard plunge into the end zone just before halftime -- the first touchdown of his career. Allgeier has at least 10 carries in five of his six games this season, tallying 50 or more rushing yards on three occasions.
Oct 16, 2022
15 carries in win
Allgeier recorded 15 carries for 51 yards during Sunday's 28-14 victory over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier saw one fewer rushing attempt and totaled eight fewer yards than Caleb Huntley, though neither running back saw any work work in the passing game. With Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) sidelined, the rookie fifth-round pick has rushed 23 times for 129 yards while securing his only target for 20 yards over the past two weeks. Both running backs figure to see increased work as long as Patterson remains on injured reserve, but their overall potential will continue to be limited as long as they continue to split carries.
Oct 9, 2022
Stifled by Tampa Bay
Allgeier rushed 13 times for 45 yards during Sunday's 21-15 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier led the backfield in rushing attempts during the first game without Cordarrelle Patterson, who's set to miss at least four contests while on IR with a knee injury. However, the rookie fifth-round pick struggled to find any running room against Tampa Bay's strong run defense. Caleb Huntley was a little more efficient on the ground, rushing eight times for 34 yards, but Avery Williams syphoned the only rushing touchdown. Allgeier figures to be the No. 1 guy with Patterson sidelined, but Atlanta certainly won't shy away from getting other guys involved, though the Falcons' running backs face another stiff test against the 49ers in Week 6.
Oct 3, 2022
Increased role on horizon
Allgeier is set for an expanded role after the Falcons placed Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Scott Bair of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The injuries keep coming for the Falcons' running back room, which already has Damien Williams (ribs) on IR, so the rookie fifth-round pick may get an extended look as a lead back early in his career. With Patterson limited in the second half, Atlanta turned to Allgeier (11 touches for 104 yards) and Caleb Huntley (10 rushes for 56 yards and a score) as the two dominated on the ground en route to a comeback victory. After being elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 4, Huntley was officially signed to the active roster Monday to take Patterson's spot, but Allgeier figures to get the first crack as the team's lead back in the absence of Williams and Patterson. Avery Williams, who was converted to running back this offseason, will likely get a few additional looks as well, but he's been limited to a change-of-pace role to start the season. Through three appearances, Allgeier has totaled 28 touches for 164 yards from scrimmage (5.9 yards per touch), but he'll face a stiff test against Tampa Bay in Week 5
Oct 2, 2022
Eclipses 100 total yards in win
Allgeier rushed 10 times for 84 yards and caught his lone target for 20 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons went with a committee approach to their backfield Sunday, splitting carries between Allgeier (10), Caleb Huntley (10) and starter Cordarrelle Patterson (nine). The rookie did the most with his touches, but the other two backs scored a touchdown each. Patterson (knee) was banged up during practice this week, which could have resulted in the sudden shift in touch distribution. Allgeier will look to build of the best game of his young career in a tough matchup against the Buccaneers next Sunday.
Sep 26, 2022
Modest production in win
Allgeier tallied six rushes for 25 yards and hauled in his only target for five yards during Sunday's 27-23 victory over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier played 21 offensive snaps, three more than last week when he made his season debut, but he saw three fewer touches as Cordarrelle Patterson dominated the ground game. With Mike Davis (ribs) on IR, the rookie fifth-round pick has emerged as the top backup behind Patterson, while Avery Williams continues to operate in a limited role. Through his first two games, Allgeier has rushed 16 times for 55 yards (3.4 YPC).
Sep 19, 2022
Earns backfield split
Allgeier carried the ball 10 times for 30 yards in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was inactive in Week 1, but he made his regular-season debut and tied for the team lead in carries. He worked into the offense early on, tallying three carries on the team's opening drive. Allgeier didn't look particularly explosive, but he could work on early downs and around the goal line moving forward.
Sep 18, 2022
Set for pro debut Sunday
Allgeier is listed as active Sunday at the Rams, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A rookie fifth-round pick, Allgeier was a healthy scratch during the Falcons' season-opening loss to the Saints, as the team rolled with Cordarrelle Patterson, Damien Williams and Avery Williams at running back. Damien Williams picked up a rib injury during that contest and proceeded to miss every Week 2 practice before the team ruled him out Friday and placed him on IR on Saturday. With the older Williams sidelined for at least the next four games, Allgeier will get a chance to make his presence felt on the field, though Patterson still is expected to garner most of the RB reps Sunday.
Sep 16, 2022
Chance to make NFL debut in Week 2
With Damien Williams (ribs) ruled out, Allgeier has a chance to make his NFL debut in Week 2, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie fifth-round pick was a healthy scratch for the season opener, and Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said special teams were part of the reason for Allgeier's inactive status, per Jeremy Brener of SI.com. "A lot of it comes down to special teams. Some weeks, maybe we'll have five running backs up." However, Allgeier won't need to wait for one of those situations as he appears to have a solid opportunity to make his NFL debut in Week 2 after Williams was ruled out. Avery Williams, who was converted to running back this offseason, operated as No. 3 RB against the Saints, but it's unclear if Atlanta would trust him for primary backup duties yet. If Allgeier is active, Atlanta figures to at least give the rookie a few touches behind Cordarrelle Patterson, who dominated the workload in Week 1.
Sep 11, 2022
Inactive for season opener
Allgeier (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Though the rookie fifth-round pick out of BYU sits third on the Falcons' depth chart at running back, he won't be active as a third option behind starter Cordarrelle Patterson and top backup Damien Williams. Instead, converted defensive back Avery Williams will get the nod over Allgeier as Atlanta's No. 3 back, presumably due to Williams' status as the Falcons' top return man. Before Allgeier gets an opportunity to dress on game days, he may need one of Patterson or Williams to miss time.
Sep 7, 2022
Listed as reserve
Allgeier is listed as the No. 3 running back on the Falcons' unofficial depth chart ahead of Week 1, Scott Bair of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie fifth-round pick has been a standout during training camp and preseason work, but he'll open the season behind Cordarrelle Patterson and Damien Williams. Allgeier likely still has the highest ceiling of the Falcons' running backs, but it appears Atlanta will bring him along slowly. Despite being listed as a reserve, Atlanta's offense is expected to be run heavy, so Allgeier is still expected to get mixed in occasionally during Sunday's season opener against the Saints.
Aug 27, 2022
Two TDs bolster case for early role
Allgeier rushed eight times for 26 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for a two-yard touchdown in Saturday's 28-12 preseason win over the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier started the preseason finale while veterans Damien Williams and Cordarrelle Patterson both got the night off. The rookie out of BYU made the most of the opportunity, scoring a two-yard touchdown through the air in the first quarter and finding paydirt again from four yards out on the ground in the fourth. Atlanta's backfield appears primed for a frustrating timeshare between Williams, Patterson and Allgeier in the regular season.
Aug 23, 2022
Heavy red-zone involvement
Allgeier carried the ball six times for 17 yards in Monday's preseason to the Jets. He added three receptions on four targets for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier mixed in with Damien Williams while Atlanta's starters were on the field but also stayed in to play with backups. Most notably, Allgeier had a significant role inside the red zone, carrying the ball three times while also tallying two catches on three targets inside the 20. Also of interest to Allgeier's potential role come the regular season, Cordarrelle Patterson lined up at wide receiver for his only offensive snap.
Aug 9, 2022
Looks to carve out backfield role
Though Allgeier is listed on the back end of the Falcons' unofficial posted depth chart, Scott Bair of the team's official site notes that's an approach coach Arthur Smith generally takes at this stage of the preseason.
ANALYSIS
Along with Allgeier, wideout Drake London -- the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 -- also finds his name down the team's initial depth chart. Last month, Bair projected that Cordarrelle Patterson would maintain his starting RB role, but he also cited Allgeier, Damien Williams and perhaps Avery Williams as candidates to carve out backfield roles this coming season. While it remains to be seen how much of a workload Allgeier is handed early on this season, the fifth-rounder does have the physical presence to provide the team with a complementary option to develop as the season progresses alongside the versatile Patterson.
May 4, 2022
Could contribute early on
ESPN's Michael Rothstein suggests that Allgeier will have a chance to make an impact as a rookie in the wake of the team having let go Mike Davis.
ANALYSIS
The Falcons' running back depth chart is currently topped by Cordarrelle Patterson, a converted wideout, but there's an opportunity for Allgeier to carve out a key complementary role out of the gate, with the fifth-rounder's ability to generate yards after contact having caught the eye of coach Arthur Smith. Damien Williams and Qadree Ollison are also in Atlanta's backfield mix, but Smith adds that "the opportunity is there (for Allgeier). The running back room is wide open." With that in mind, Rothstein hints that it's possible that the BYU product could make a run at the team's Week 1 starting nod, but such an outcome would presumably hinge on the 5-foot-11, 224 pound Allgeier impressing the coaching staff this summer and/or injuries coming into play.
May 3, 2022
Moves up depth chart sans Davis
Allgeier will compete with Damien Williams and Qadree Ollison for touches after the release of Mike Davis, Josh Kendall of the Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier was selected by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft in what was a surprising move given Atlanta also signed Williams and were returning a trio of running backs. However, the pick makes more sense after the dismissal of the veteran Davis. Cordarrelle Patterson likely will lead the backfield once again, but Williams, Allgeier and Ollison will likely all get opportunities throughout the season, especially if Atlanta opts for a run-heavy offense with Marcus Mariota at the helm.
Apr 30, 2022
Atlanta selects in fifth round
The Falcons selected Allgeier in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 151st overall.
ANALYSIS
Allgeier (5-foot-10, 224 pounds) is an extremely Arthur Smith-style back out of BYU, where he routinely ripped off big plays over the last two years as a power runner. It's difficult to explain just how he did it given a relative lack of speed (4.64-second 40), but Allgeier was unstoppable as he ran for 2,731 yards and 42 touchdowns from 2020 to 2021, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He can't imitate the functions of Cordarrelle Patterson, but Allgeier is absolutely a threat to Damien Williams and Mike Davis.
