Still not ready for Philly debut
Gipson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was claimed off waivers following Week 3, but he'll be a healthy scratch for a second straight game with his new team. His next chance to make his Eagles debut will come Thursday against the Giants in New York. Philadelphia's only active wideouts for Sunday's game are A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson and John Metchie.

Won't make Philly debut Week 4
Gipson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was claimed off waivers by the Eagles on Monday after being let go by the Giants, but the 24-year-old wideout will have to wait at least one more week to make his debut with Philadelphia. The Eagles will roll with four active wide receivers in A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson and John Metchie.
Sep 22, 2025
Heading to Philadelphia
The Eagles claimed Gipson off waivers Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was waived by the Giants on Saturday, but he'll remain in the NFC East as a member of the Eagles. His addition gives the Eagles' wide receiver corps an additional body, which is timely given Darius Cooper's shoulder injury during Sunday's 33-26 win over the Rams. Gipson's main contribution since entering the league in 2023 has been as a returner and could find a prominent role on special teams given the rule changes to kickoffs.
Sep 21, 2025
Let go again
Gipson was waived by the Giants on Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was waived for the second time in the last 10 days. He did not appear in any game with the Giants and will now look for his next opportunity around the league.
Sep 11, 2025
Stays in Big Apple with Big Blue
Gipson was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson won't have to move after being claimed by the Jets' MetLife Stadium roommates the day after being waived by New York's AFC team. His costly fumble on a kickoff return in Week 1 proved to be the end of the line for Gipson with the Jets, but he has shown some explosiveness in the return game when he holds onto the ball, so the Giants could utilize the 5-foot-9 wide receiver on special teams.
Sep 10, 2025
Officially out in New York
Gipson was waived by the Jets on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was expected to be dropped by the Jets on Wednesday as reported by Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, and the move has now been made official. Over 35 career games with the Jets, Gipson caught 27 of his 48 targets for 268 yards and one touchdown. Additionally, he tallied 1,142 kick-return yards and 604 punt-return yards, though he also fumbled 10 times. The 24-year-old could draw interest from teams seeking help in the return game.
Sep 10, 2025
Expected to be waived
The Jets are expected to waive Gipson on Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The undrafted wideout from Stephen F. Austin has served as one of the Jets' top return men since entering the league in 2023. However, his costly fumble while filling in for Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) on a kickoff return in New York's opening week loss to the Steelers likely prompted the team to move in another direction. With Gipson set to be waived, Isaiah Davis is expected to take over as the Jets' top punt returner.
Sep 7, 2025
Costly fumble in Week 1 loss
Gipson wasn't targeted in Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Steelers, but he had five kickoff returns for 142 yards, two punt returns for 19 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Gipson took over kick return duties in addition to his customary role returning punts on special teams after usual kickoff return man Kene Nwangwu exited due to a hamstring injury. Nwangwu's injury proved extremely costly, as Gipson's fumble was sandwiched between two Steelers touchdowns in a three-play span, which turned a 26-17 Jets lead into a 31-26 deficit. Gipson has put the ball on the ground 10 times in 35 NFL games, and any further ball security issues could cost him his job.

Fades Wednesday's injury report
Gipson (shoulder) is not listed on the Jets' injury report Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson missed New York's final preseason contest due to a shoulder issue. However, he appears to be in line to play Week 1 versus the Steelers given his absence from the injury report Wednesday. In addition to serving as wideout depth for New York, Gipson should function as the team's lead kick and punt returner.
Aug 23, 2025
Still managing shoulder issue
Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that Gipson did not play in Friday's preseason game against the Eagles due to a lingering shoulder injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson suffered a shoulder injury during the Jets' second preseason game against the Giants, and that injury lingered throughout the week enough for him to miss the preseason finale. Gipson's path to the 53-man roster is as a returner, but the severity of the injury could factor into whether he's on the Jets' roster for Week 1 against the Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Aug 16, 2025
Questionable to return Saturday
Gipson (shoulder) is questionable to return to Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Gipson has been dealing with a shoulder issue for two weeks but suited up to play Saturday. However, he exited early and went to the locker room after returning one kickoff for 23 yards.
Aug 16, 2025
Slated to play vs. Giants
Gipson (shoulder) is in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson has been cleared to play in Saturday's exhibition game after working through a shoulder injury for the past two weeks. The third-year wideout is competing for a spot on the Jets' 53-man roster as a returner and in a depth role at wide receiver.
Aug 4, 2025
Sidelined at least a week
Gipson (shoulder) won't practice this week heading into Saturday's preseason opener against the Packers, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson hurt his shoulder Saturday and will miss at least a week of practice as a result, putting his availability in doubt for the Jets' first preseason game. Undrafted rookie Jamaal Pritchett brings a similar skill set to Gipson as a return man on special teams and occasional contributor at wide receiver on offense, so Pritchett could see the biggest uptick in opportunities during Gipson's absence.
Aug 2, 2025
Injures shoulder Saturday
Gipson left Saturday's training camp practice after injuring his shoulder, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson suffered the injury during red zone team drills and left for the team's facilities shortly after. He'll undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury, but it puts him in jeopardy of missing practices and the Jets' preseason opener against the Packers on Aug. 9. Gipson's path to the 53-man roster is in the form of return duties, so Isaiah Davis and Kene Nwangwu would be in line to see more opportunities on kickoffs and punts were Gipson to be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Jan 9, 2025
Regresses in second NFL season
Gipson finished the 2024 season with six catches for 39 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. He also rushed once for five yards, in addition to returning 33 punts for 266 yards and 17 kickoffs for 489 yards.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was a non-factor on offense and saw declines in both punt return and kickoff return yards compared to his rookie year despite leading the league in punts returned in 2024. The 23-year-old out of Stephen F. Austin has a decent chance of making the team in 2025 thanks to his special teams contributions, though Gipson will likely face competition in training camp.
Dec 30, 2024
No touches on offense again
Gipson returned one kickoff for 25 yards and added two punt returns for 25 yards in Sunday's 40-14 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Gipson played nine snaps on offense but didn't touch the ball. He has gone four games without a target or carry, and the second-year pro's only multi-catch performance of the season came back in Week 3. Gipson's a fantasy non-factor heading into the season finale against the Dolphins, outside of formats that reward return yards.
Dec 23, 2024
Game-ending fumble in loss
Gipson returned three kickoffs for 99 yards and had one punt return for no gain in Sunday's 19-9 loss to the Rams. He didn't record a target or carry and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Gipson contributed a 42-yard kickoff return to provide some special teams value despite a lack of involvement on offense. That contribution was overshadowed by his muffed punt in the fourth quarter, which was a microcosm of the Jets season. New York had just gotten a stop with 1:44 remaining but burned all three timeouts in the process. Instead of the offense having a chance to at least make it a one-possession game and hope for an onside kick, Gipson's fumble allowed the Rams to retain possession and kneel out the clock.
Dec 2, 2024
Cedes slot job to Corley
Gipson caught his only target for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the Seahawks. He also returned two kickoffs for 81 yards and added a punt return for no gain.
ANALYSIS
Gipson played just 19 snaps on offense compared to Malachi Corley's 41, suggesting that Corley has surpasses Gipson as the Jets' preferred option in the slot. While Gipson remained involved as a return man on special teams, he also faces increased competition for that role, as Kene Nwangwu logged three kickoff returns in his Jets debut Sunday, one of which went for a 99-yard touchdown.
Nov 18, 2024
One catch in loss to Colts
Gipson caught his only target for 17 yards and netted 19 yards on three punt returns in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was on the field for 27 of 51 snaps on offense while Malachi Corley played 12, so Gipson continues to be the preferred option in the slot. The second-year pro has just five catches for 40 yards in that role all season. Gipson also contributes regularly as a return man, though Isaiah Davis was the only player to log a kickoff return for the Jets against the Colts.
Nov 12, 2024
Goes catch-less in Week 10
Gipson didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's 31-6 loss to the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Gipson remained quiet on offense despite ranking third among Jets wide receivers with a 41 percent snap share. He usually chips in some return yardage on special teams, but the Jets didn't register a kickoff return or punt return in the lopsided loss, as it was a lethargic effort in all three phases of the game.
Nov 5, 2024
Could emerge as No. 3 receiver
Gipson is expected to serve as the Jets' No. 3 receiver beginning with Sunday's game at Arizona after New York traded Mike Williams to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While the departure of Williams will open up some snaps at receiver, Gipson likely won't serve as an every down player like fellow wideouts Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams. The Jets are expected to make use of two tight ends sets featuring Tyler Conklin and Jeremy Ruckert that would leave Gipson as the odd man out at receiver, and running back Breece Hall is also a capable pass catcher who could occasionally replace Gipson out wide or in the slot. Gipson will continue to offer his most utility in fantasy leagues that count return yardage, as he's locked in as the Jets' top kickoff and punt returner.
Oct 28, 2024
Catches short TD in Week 8
Gipson caught his only target for a one-yard touchdown in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Gipson made the most of his first target since Week 4, securing a tough catch on a low throw right at the goal line, which was upheld as a touchdown upon review. His contributions as a slot receiver come second to Gipson's special teams exploits. The second-year pro had 71 yards on four punt returns.
Oct 21, 2024
Two fumbles go out of bounds
Gispon had two kickoff returns for 51 yards and two punt returns for four yards but wasn't targeted on offense in Sunday's 37-15 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was on the field for only one play on offense, as he remains a non-factor in a receiving corps that now includes Davante Adams. The return man dropped the ball twice on punt returns, but both fumbles went out of bounds. Gipson's a dangerous return man, but he'll need to get the ball security issues under control lest his special teams role shrinks as well.
Oct 15, 2024
Remains limited to special teams
Gipson wasn't targeted and had one punt return for eight yards in Monday's 23-20 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Gipson remains limited almost exclusively to special teams duties. Finding snaps for the undersized receiver will be even harder moving forward, as the Jets are finalizing a trade for wide receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) ahead of Sunday's road game against the Steelers.
Oct 6, 2024
No targets in London loss
Gipson wasn't targeted in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Vikings and returned two punts for 31 yards.
ANALYSIS
Aaron Rodgers threw the ball 54 times, but none of those passes were directed at Gipson, as the Jets utilized Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard and Mike Williams in three-receiver sets. Gipson contributed to the Jets' comeback bid with a 31-yard punt return, which helped set up New York's first touchdown late in the first half. He's a good special teams player but doesn't have much of a role on offense at the moment.
Sep 30, 2024
Catches only one of four targets
Gipson caught one of four targets for six yards while adding two kickoff returns for 50 yards and five punt returns for 31 yards in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Gipson got plenty of special teams opportunities as offense was hard to come by in rainy conditions at MetLife Stadium, but he had a forgettable afternoon on offense. The second-year pro set a season high in targets, but he didn't exactly earn Aaron Rodgers' trust, registering a drop and then failing to get his head around on a pivotal third-down pass late in the game.
Sep 20, 2024
Makes first two catches of 2024
Gipson caught both of his targets for 16 yards and had four punt returns for 27 yards in Thursday's 24-3 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was one of eight Jets to catch multiple passes in Thursday's win, as Aaron Rodgers had his best game as a Jet with 281 passing yards and two touchdowns. While Gipson's shiftiness offers a path to playing time in the slot and as a gadget piece, most of his contributions have come on special teams, with Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams and Allen Lazard all well ahead of the second-year pro in the team's wide receiver pecking order.
Sep 16, 2024
No targets again
Gipson wasn't targeted in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Titans. He had two kickoff returns for 57 yards and three punt returns for 35 yards.
ANALYSIS
Gipson's snap share on offense plummeted from 59 to 11 percent, corresponding with an increase from 18 to 65 percent for Mike Williams. As long as Williams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard are healthy, those three are poised to operate in the majority of three-receiver sets, leaving Gipson relegated primarily to a special teams role.
Sep 11, 2024
Blanked on MNF
Gipson wasn't targeted in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers, but he had three kickoff returns for 77 yards and a four-yard punt return.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was the intended receiver of a Tyrod Taylor pass on a two-point conversion in the final minute, but that play doesn't go down in the books as an official target. The slot receiver actually played 30 snaps on offense compared to just nine for Mike Williams and one for Malachi Corley. Once Williams is up to speed, he'll likely join Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard in three-receiver sets, but Gipson's usage suggests the second-year pro is capable of providing some value on offense early in the season, despite Monday's ineffectual season debut.
Aug 6, 2024
Back on practice field
Gipson (leg) returned to practice Tuesday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson had been sidelined since the late July with an undisclosed leg injury, making his return a notable development for the Jets' offense. In addition to profiling as New York's top return man, especially since the surprise retirement of Tarik Cohen, Gipson figures to rotate alongside Allen Lazard and Malachi Corley in the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams (knee), the latter of whom remains on the active/PUP list.
Jul 26, 2024
Expected to miss a few weeks
Coach Robert Saleh said Friday that Gipson (leg) suffered an injury at practice and is expected to miss a week or two, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson walked off the practice field with a notable limp, per Brian Costello of the New York Post, but the specifics of his leg injury remain undisclosed. As a rookie last season Gipson suited up for all 17 games and worked as the Jets' primary kick and punt returner, but he now faces competition from Tarik Cohen and Isaiah Davis.
May 30, 2024
Competition as primary returner
Gipson is expected to have competition as New York's primary return-specialist heading into the 2024 season, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson operated as the Jets' kick returner and punt returner for the entirety of the 2023 season, but with the team signing running back Tarik Cohen on Wednesday, Gipson may not be a shoo-in for the role again in 2024. Head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Gipson will get "first dibs", but the returning job is an "open competition."
Jan 7, 2024
Finishes first year with 21 catches
Gispon caught one of five targets for four yards in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Patriots. He finishes the season with 21 catches for 229 yards on 38 targets.
ANALYSIS
Gipson didn't score a receiving touchdown in his rookie season, but he posted a rushing score and a punt return touchdown. He held down the punt and kick returner roles for the entire season -- posting 319 punt return yards and 511 kickoff return yards -- and saw more involvement on offense in the second half of the campaign. The 5-foot-9 Gipson likely profiles as more of a depth contributor than a consistent starter at wide receiver, but a spot on the 53-man roster will be his to lose next season.
Dec 29, 2023
153 all-purpose yards in loss
Gipson secured four of seven targets for 33 yards, rushed once for eight yards, ran back three kickoffs for 82 yards and returned two punts for 30 yards in the Jets' 37-20 loss to the Browns on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Gipson had a particularly busy night in defeat, with both his reception and receiving yardage totals serving as the second highest of his young career. The rookie's target tally also qualified as a new high-water mark, and he's now logged one rush attempt in four of his last five games. Gipson could be a candidate for extending playing time in the Week 18 road finale against the Patriots on Jan. 7, and it's possible he'll have Zach Wilson (concussion) back under center for that contest.
Dec 25, 2023
One catch, one carry in win
Gipson caught one of two targets for one yard and added a 16-yard run in Sunday's 30-28 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Gipson also returned three kickoffs for 82 yards and added a nine-yard punt return. The undrafted rookie out of Stephen F. Austin has worked as a slot receiver and gadget player on offense in the second half of the season while maintaining his role as the return man on special teams. Gipson has logged multiple touches in each of the last five games, but he's finished with more than three touches only once this season.
Dec 17, 2023
Six targets in Week 15 loss
Gipson caught two of six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Gipson tied Garrett Wilson for the team lead in receiving yards and came one target shy of Tyler Conklin's team-leading total as the entire Jets offense struggled. After posting a career-high 77 receiving yards in Week 13 and scoring his first offensive touchdown in Week 14, Gipson maintained a prominent role against the Dolphins despite his lack of success on the stat sheet, which bodes well for his potential involvement in Week 16 against the Commanders. It remains to be seen whether Zach Wilson -- who left Sunday's loss in the first half with a head injury -- or Trevor Siemian will be throwing to Gipson versus Washington.
Dec 11, 2023
Scores rushing TD in Week 14 win
Gipson caught his only target for three yards and rushed once for nine yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Gipson scored his first offensive touchdown in the NFL on a nine-yard run in the third quarter, doubling New York's lead to 14-0. He also had three punt returns for 17 yards. Whether it's as a traditional slot receiver or a gadget player, Gipson has carved out consistent playing time in New York's offense, albeit with only a few touches per game.
Dec 3, 2023
Career-high 77 receiving yards
Gipson caught five of six targets for 77 yards in Sunday's 13-8 loss to the Falcons. He also rushed once for one yard, returned one kickoff for 25 yards and totaled 45 yards on four punt returns.
ANALYSIS
Gipson's 77 receiving yards were the most by a Jets player other than Garrett Wilson this season. He set up a second-quarter field goal with a 36-yard catch on a flea flicker and added a 25-yard catch in the fourth quarter as the Jets tried to mount a comeback. The first catch came on a Tim Boyle pass, while the latter was thrown by Trevor Siemian after Boyle was benched. Despite New York's unenviable quarterback situation, Gipson's role in the offense is growing heading into a Week 14 home game against the Texans.
Nov 25, 2023
Two catches in Week 12
Gipson caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Friday's 34-13 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Gipson didn't see a change in role with Allen Lazard (coach's decision) benched, as fellow undrafted rookie Jason Brownlee took over Lazard's usual role on the outside while Gipson remained in the slot. Gipson also had one kickoff return for 28 yards.
Nov 20, 2023
Early fumble sets tone in loss
Gipson caught one of two targets for seven yards in Sunday's 32-6 loss to the Bills. He also returned four kickoffs for 76 yards and lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
The last time these two AFC East rivals faced off, Gipson ended the game with a punt return touchdown in overtime in his NFL debut. His first return opportunity Sunday was far less successful, as Gipson fumbled on the opening kickoff. That miscue set the tone for a disastrous all-around performance from the Jets, who suffered a third consecutive loss to fall to 4-6.
Nov 13, 2023
Career-high three Week 10 targets
Gipson caught one of three targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 16-12 loss to the Raiders. He also returned one kickoff for 14 yards and had one punt return for five yards.
ANALYSIS
For the second consecutive game, Gipson finished second among the Jets' wide receivers in receiving yards behind Breece Hall. The undrafted rookie out of Stephen F. Austin has flashed some big-play ability, but he hasn't been targeted frequently enough to produce consistently on offense, as Gipson's three targets Sunday marked a new career high.
Nov 7, 2023
Career high receiving total Monday
Gipson caught both of his targets for 32 yards in Monday's 27-6 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Not only were Gipson's 32 receiving yards a career high, they marked the highest total in a game this season by a Jets wide receiver not named Garrett Wilson or Allen Lazard. That stat is more of an indictment on the state of New York's passing game than a compliment to Gipson, but the dearth of quality alternatives at least creates an opportunity for the rookie to carve out a larger role moving forward. Gipson also returned three punts for eight yards in Monday's loss.
Nov 4, 2023
Cleared for Monday
Gipson (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Chargers, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson hasn't been a featured member of the team's passing attack, but that could change depending on the status of Allen Lazard, who showed up on the final injury report with a knee injury and is currently listed as questionable. Gipson would slot in as the team's No. 3 target behind Garrett Wilson and Randall Cobb in the event Lazard does not play.
Nov 3, 2023
Remains limited Friday
Gipson (ankle) remained limited in Friday's practice, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson has played just 55 offensive snaps all season, registering four carries for 34 scoreless yards and one four-yard catch on two targets. He mainly plays special teams as the Jets' dynamic returner.
Oct 29, 2023
One carry, one target in Week 8
Gipson rushed once for three yards and didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's 13-10 overtime win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was shaken up at the end of his three-yard run so the Jets sent out D.J. Reed as their returner on the next of Jamie Gillan's 13 punts while Gipson recovered, but Gipson managed to return to the game. The rookie return man finished with three punt returns for 20 yards and one kickoff return for 22 yards in a game that featured 24 combined punts between the two teams.
Oct 16, 2023
Gets chunk gain on only touch
Gipson (ankle) rushed once for 18 yards in Sunday's 20-14 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Gipson suited up after hurting his ankle in practice during the week. The electric return man didn't get a chance to make any returns on special teams, perhaps due to the ankle injury, but Gipson looked spry on his only offensive touch, which produced the longest rushing play for either team.
Oct 15, 2023
Ready to go for Week 6
Gipson (ankle) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was listed as questionable after picking up an ankle injury late in Week 6 prep, but he'll still be available Sunday. The undrafted rookie plays primarily on special teams, handling kick- and punt-return duties, but his offensive snaps have increased in each of the past two weeks.
Oct 13, 2023
Questionable for Week 6
Gipson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Gipson was limited by the ankle injury Friday after previously avoiding the injury report. If the rookie return man can't go, veteran receiver Mecole Hardman could see his role grow on special teams, and possibly on offense as well.
Oct 9, 2023
No touches on offense in Week 5
Gipson wasn't targeted in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Broncos. He had one kickoff return for 20 yards, two punt returns for 14 yards and fumbled twice, losing one.
ANALYSIS
After getting involved with one catch and two rushing attempts in Week 4, Gipson didn't register a touch on offense in Week 5. He also muffed a punt in the third quarter to set the Broncos up in Jets territory, but New York overcame the rookie's miscue and notched its second win of the season.
Oct 2, 2023
Earning role on offense
Gipson caught his only target for four yards and rushed twice for 13 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Gipson earned the first three touches on offense of his NFL career. The rookie out of Stephen F. Austin has shown impressive elusiveness as a return man on special teams, so the Jets are starting to draw up some plays to get Gipson the ball in space on offense as well. He added a 22-yard kickoff return and 11-yard punt return in the SNF loss.
Sep 18, 2023
No targets through two games
Gipson wasn't targeted in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Cowboys. He had one punt return for seven yards.
ANALYSIS
Gipson scored the game-winning punt return touchdown in overtime in his NFL debut, but the electric return man was much quieter in his second NFL game. The rookie receiver has yet to see a target on offense.
Sep 12, 2023
OT hero in NFL debut
Gipson had two punt returns for 66 yards and a touchdown, as well as two kickoff returns for 46 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Gipson won the game with a 65-yard punt return touchdown in overtime. He got free down the left sideline, then patiently waited for blockers to clear the way before working his way into the end zone to send the MetLife Stadium crowd into a frenzy. It was an unforgettable moment for the undrafted wide receiver out of Stephen F. Austin, who was making his NFL debut. Gipson doesn't have much of a role on offense, but he can be a valuable asset in formats that reward return yardage.
Aug 28, 2023
Bolsters chances of making team
Gipson caught seven of 10 targets for 79 yards in Saturday's 32-24 preseason win over the Giants. He also had a 20-yard punt return.
ANALYSIS
The Jets gave Gipson plenty of opportunities to showcase his skills in the preseason finale, and the undrafted rookie stepped up, which should help his chances of sticking around after Tuesday's final cuts. Gipson played with the second-team offense Saturday, and his punt return could have gone for a touchdown if he didn't just barely step out of bounds. His ability to contribute in the return game on special teams could help Gipson claim a roster spot on a wide receiver depth chart that recently gained an opening when Corey Davis announced that he's stepping away from football.
Aug 4, 2023
Mixed bag in debut
Gipson failed to catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 21-16 preseason loss to Cleveland. He added one kickoff return for 45 yards and a punt return for no gain.
ANALYSIS
Gipson has been a standout player in camp with the Jets, and his speed could earn the undrafted rookie a role as a gadget player. He muffed his punt return and had a foot out of bounds by the time he regathered the ball, but Gipson made up for that mistake with an electric 45-yard kickoff return in the final minute of the first half to set up a field goal. Gipson will look to leave a larger impression on offense in the next preseason game, which will be Aug. 12 in Carolina.
May 5, 2023
Signs with Jets
Gipson signed a contract with the Jets as an undrafted free agent Friday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
