College Football Player Props for Week 1: Aug 23-Sept 1

Aamir Hall #12 of the Michigan Wolverines defends Ryan Williams #2 of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

It’s time to load up again on those college football player props – the most popular bets on the NCAAF odds board. We’ve already gotten a taste of what’s to come this year with the “Week 0” games, with the favorites and the Under each going 3-2, but let’s not go crazy trying to parse that small sample size. Save the analysis at least until the end of Week 1.

Each of our three recommended college football props for this week’s schedule is a bet on the Over, so let’s get that prolate spheroid in the air; we begin with what might be this year’s biggest marquee matchup for the 2025 regular season.

Arch Manning Over 1.5 Passing TD (–102) at Caesars

This is the year Manning takes over as full-on No. 1 QB from Quinn Ewers (now with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins), and as we go to press, his Longhorns are +450 favorites to win the National Championship.

Manning threw for nine touchdowns on 90 pass attempts last year. He’s bigger, stronger, and expected to rack up big numbers for head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Putting up those numbers against the Buckeyes and their impressive secondary won’t be easy, especially with the relative lack of veteran talent in the Longhorns’ receiving corps. But two passing TDs is eminently reasonable; that’s what Ewers did in their 28-14 loss to OSU at the Cotton Bowl.

Ryan Williams Anytime TD (–105) at Caesars

Granted, Kalen DeBoer wasn’t able to get the Crimson Tide into the College Football Playoff in Year One of the post-Nick Saban Era, but Alabama did rank eighth overall on the 2024 F+ Ratings at BCF Toys despite going 9-4 (7-5 ATS).

Bigger things are on the horizon for Year Two; QB Ty Simpson is a better passer than the man he’s replacing, Jalen Milroe, and Ryan Williams (eight TDs on 48 catches last year) should see his numbers climb accordingly.

Florida State, meanwhile, is in its own transition year with Tony White as their new defensive coordinator. White’s take on the 3-3-5 defense could pay dividends down the road, but it will take a while to make those pieces fit.

Strike while the iron is hot.

Trey’Dez Green Over 2.5 Receptions (–156) at Caesars

There are some tasty options out there for Green on the top sportsbooks for touchdowns and yardage, but we’re going with Over 2.5 catches for LSU’s breakout tight end.

He only caught 13 passes as a freshman in 2024, but six of those were in their last game at the Texas Bowl, after Green was elevated to the starting lineup against Baylor.

We have to temper those expectations for Green in Week 1 facing Clemson’s quality defensive ends. His usage may be capped somewhat, but even six targets would be enough to make this prop a plus-EV bet.
