College Football Odds for Week 7: Oct 6-12

Drew Allar #15 of the Penn State Nittany Lions runs the ball against Jalen Woods #9 of the UCLA Bruins

Penn State suffered an utterly embarrassing defeat last week as it lost to UCLA. Not all big-name teams suffered, though. Alabama won, for example. For our college football odds in Week 7, let’s consider how up-and-down things can be for the highest-profile teams. Moreover, let’s not forget the good games involving lower-profile teams.

Alabama vs. Missouri (+3.5)

Saturday, October 11, 2025 – 12:00 PM EDT

Alabama’s run defense, after it settled down, contributed to Vanderbilt’s impressively low point total.

The Commodores scored all of 14 points after they had combined for 125 points in their previous two games. Their rush attack, moreover, was highly ranked and is still ranked 20th after failing to reach ten rushing yards in the second half against Alabama.

Bama gets to face another combination of a dual-threat quarterback and strong rush attack that it is clearly prepared for. Its third-ranked pass defense, which gave Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton his worst performance of the season, will also be prepared.

Meanwhile, the only top-70 pass defense that Bama quarterback Ty Simpson has faced was Florida State’s 64th-ranked one, against which his passer rating was over 50 points below his season average. He will have his hands full with Missouri’s tenth-ranked pass defense.

Northwestern Wildcats vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (-21.5)

Saturday, October 11, 2025 – 03:30 PM EDT

Penn State last week was in a classic let-down spot. It was coming off a game against a hugely high-profile opponent, and it lost in brutal fashion. Many teams fail to concentrate on an unexciting, bad team after they have such an experience as Penn State did against elite Oregon.

Let’s not forget that Penn State beat its first three opponents by 34 points or more.

This is still a capable group. The Nittany Lions will be extra motivated after their loss last week.

As Alabama did when it beat UL Monroe 73-0 after losing its season-opener, teams like to take their frustration out on weaker foes. Northwestern was down 34-0 to Oregon — the very one that Penn State took to two overtimes — before scoring two meaningless touchdowns.

This is a Northwestern team with an anemic offense whose defense cannot contain high-profile attacks.

Wake Forest vs. Oregon State (+2.5)

Saturday, October 04, 2025 – 03:30 PM EDT

Oregon State relies heavily on the pass. Its leading rusher averages all of 3.4 YPC. Overall, it ranks 19th in pass play percentage.

When the Beavers attain one of their better scoring outputs, it’s because of their quarterback Maalik Murphy. When the Beavers struggle to reach double digits, it’s also because of Murphy. Oregon State’s offense is going to struggle in this game because Wake Forest owns the 27th-best pass defense.

For comparison’s sake, the Beavers scored 15 points, with Murphy producing a 119.7 passer rating, against a Cal team that ranks 59th against the pass.

On offense, Wake Forest is averaging 27.7 points per game in their last three games, all of which came against stronger defenses than Oregon State’s, which has allowed at least 27 points in every game this year.

In general, the 0-6 Beavers, who just lost to App State, can’t figure out how to win.
